I actually agree with this post, not villainizing a child here but with the recent info from book of bill, it's more understandable why the twins acted that way in the end of the 2nd season.
Mabel, as a child, was understandly codependent on Dipper with their parents fighting (while she doesn't know about this, it doesn't really mean she can't feel it. Don't underestimate a child's sense of other's emotions, especially their family)
She probably felt like hey, I think there's something going on and it feels bad but I'll ignore it cause all I need to do is be happy and jolly to help bring smiles to their faces.
So she tries to compensate for it by doing things like dragging dipper to something so that they could hang out (for her but for dipper, it would just be humouring her, not actually choosing what he wants to do) I'm not saying this for all the episodes but it just crops up whenever I watch Gravity Falls that I feel like Mabel chooses more of what they do than Dipper gets to. I know that Mabel just wants to be good and help by doing those but its how a child thinks and I can't fault her for that.
It's a bit obnoxious, yes, but it's how a child thinks, they're obnoxious and naive. Dipper isn't excused from this too, he's sometimes portrayed naive in some episodes (like with Ford) but its so miniscule that remembering that yes, this kid that follows and solves paranormal cases, also seeks out parental figures in other people (the stans: even though, from an objective standpoint, I don't think being parental is in their lane, Uncles? Yes but parents? No)
Ford's just came out of a divorce (lmao but seriously, no person that just came out abuse should go be a parent, for the sake of their mental health and of their child) plus Ford is too out of touch with other people (man just came out of an portal, he needs time) while Stanley have been swimming in guilt, despair and depression trying to get back his twin (also from the post at the top (book of bill excerpt on dipper's hygiene)
Now getting back to Dipper and Mabel, Dipper is always portrayed as a nervous (wendy) but surprisingly steadfast pre teen in the face of weird stuff in gravity falls. He's always portrayed as a mature kid and a bit of a motherhen to Mabel (I can understand why Mabel imagined Dippy Fresh, cause Dipper is sometimes too much of a Motherhen, but it still puts me off for how different Dippy Fresh is from Dipper and its weird cause, is that how she wants Dipper to act? Cool and not a nerd? Cause, that just really puts me off even though I understand that Dipper can sometimes neglecting talking or even noticing others by being too invested in the Journal)
....... (Dipper hates Dippy Fresh, its on the wiki page of gravity falls, I can see how 'Dippy Fresh' as a whole offends him, even I am)
Is it a bit annoying cause he's a Motherhen sometimes? Yes but ever since Book of Bill gave a hint about their family situation, it's much more understandable now. He's mature cause he needs to be (not only for himself but Mabel) cause he realizes the situation and is trying to keep a part of his life together by taking a parental role. When he found the Journal and those mysteries came for him, Mabel and Stan, he found a guide in some unknown Author in the Journal that slowly, to that point of how much that Journal saved them, he saw the Author as an idol. Then he found out about Ford and just latched onto him, finding a parental figure in him through the Journal that indirectly helped Dipper but Dipper doesn't realize that he idolises (seeks a parent) in The Author, not the human Ford.
Of course, they got to know each other (Ford being put off by the fanboying yet flattered at the same time) and Dipper slowly learned to connect those views he has on the Author and Ford and just realising that yeah, this is a man, a man that while I admire, is also My Cool Uncle. (I still standby my notion that Ford can't be a parent for Dipper, it would be damaging for the two of them)
I'm glad though that Dipper found someone's who would at least indulge in one of his interest cause, look, in most of the episodes, we never get a clear glimpse of what Dipper's interest is. Like we know so much about Mabel, her love for boys, scrapbook, her talents and artistic skills, sweaters and puppets! But Dipper? None. He's only a nerd with a journal thats goes searching for the paranormal and a twin sister, nothing explicitly stated about him and we'd only find out about some of his interest in context clues.
Like seriously, the clone episode, we only found out Dipper can play instruments (with S cause it's 2: a banjo and another I forgot the name of) plus the Mason fact? Knowing that other characters (Stanley? Really, come on man) don't even know Dipper's real name just....it kind of drives home how Dipper is sometimes brushed off when he brings up his interest that for 2 entire seasons, no one even knew "Dipper" was a nickname.
When I look at the Gravity Falls Bible, it always suprise me that some facts about Dipper were shown (some are context clues, sometimes not even explicitly stated or shown) and it sometimes comes up to me that, do the characters even know that tid bit of fact about Dipper?
I don't know about you but I just feel bad for Dipper, not only for taking the part of mature parental twin but also for how much of his interest is brushed off since he's just "being nerdy" instead of a kid just wanting to discuss and share what he likes.
Looking back the ending of Gravity Falls while thinking about endings of other series like Amphibia and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee, Weirdmageddon has a message that is underwhelming when it comes to Dipper and Mabel's relationship and Mabel's potrayal in the show.
This isn't about Mabel getting tricked by Bill. She is a 12-13 years old that in that context she was feeling really bad and not thinking well what she was doing. That isn't relevant to the topic at hand and honestly it isn't a problem she did that, it does makes sense in the episode it happened.
Tumblr media
What i have an issue is how the narrative makes Dipper feel bad about considering staying studying with Stanford. This is something that Dipper was interested in and he was very fascinated by anything that was paranormal related. Stanford himself told Dipper he had a lot of potential and the kid was digging into it.
Mabel lashing out and not liking the idea of Dipper staying with Stanford is understandable in the episode Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future. She doesn't seem to have much friends back in her home and her parents are implied to not be the best. She gets scared of Dipper leaving, that's a reasonable fear for a kid to have.
Tumblr media
However, as i mentioned before, Dipper is made feel bad about considering choosing something he wants to do. It isn't Mabel who has to learn that things change and sometimes this brings things we don't like. She doesn't exactly consider what Dipper wants for himself, she mainly cares about how ¨she is going to be alone¨ and making her brother feel selfish for choosing his own path or do something that could make him happy.
Yes, she learns that things can't stay the same forever and they are growing up, that itself is a pretty good development for her and overall a good message to teach.
Yet her being codependent on Dipper doesn't get brought up nor addressed, in fact the series seems to praise this behavior of hers. In how Dipper has to do what she wants if not he is a bad brother. Mabel's clinginess and controlling behaviour to an extent isn't called out, which that itself is a problem.
Small: I want to add an extra point here that Mabel does have a short scene near the end of the episode that she tells Dipper that she won't get in his way if he wants to stay with Stanford and she was ¨acting nuts¨ in the dream bubble. This is good for her but it does still feel in part that her issues weren't fully acknowledged and it doesn't help she didn't say until after Dipper told her that he was going to stay with her and not be with Stanford, which is rather questionable in my opinion.
In contrast in Amphibia, Marcy Wu has a similar arc about change. The series explores how she can take her escapism too far and how she can be very selfish in plenty of ways, something that is potrayed as an aspect she has to learn from and realize that it isn't healthy.
Tumblr media
Her being too codependent on Anne and Sasha and their overall friendship is potrayed as toxic and the series explores this relationship a lot, having the girls grow over time and think about different aspects they have to work on.
In ¨True Colors¨ it is revealed that Marcy Wu learned about the Calamity Box the same day she got told by her parents that they were moving away. Very afraid of having to leave her friends behind and having to be alone in a new city, she found the Calamity Box and told Sasha and Anne about it. Worth of mentioning she didn't know if it would work but it was a desperate act of her just to not having to move away from her friends yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sasha and Anne find out about this they are, not surprisingly, very pissed and push from Marcy away for a moment, making Marcy realize her mistake and eventually apologizes for what she did.
Tumblr media
In ¨All In¨ Marcy finally comes to terms with how she can't force Anne and Sasha to be the way she wants them to be and that her codependency on them isn't a good thing. She realizes that has to move away to her new home at some point, that things change but that doesn't mean the three of them have to stop being friends.
As you can see, there is a clear difference between how Mabel Pines and Marcy Wu’s characters and flaws are potrayed in the narrative. While Gravity Falls makes Mabel’s codependency and controlling behaviour to be something acceptable and that Dipper should conform to, Amphibia does the complete opposite and presents Marcy Wu’s actions as flaws she has and that can hurt other people, including her friends. She is the one that has to make a change and understand she has to work on herself if she wants to have new friends and keep these relationships as times moves on.
Since we are on topic, one thing that really bothered me is how Mabel created a version of Dipper that is ¨cool¨ and says yes and goes along with everything she wants to do. (Weirdmageddon Part 2)
Tumblr media
This has… interesting implications of how Mabel believes that relationships should work, or at least with her brother twin Dipper. A lot has to do with how she and Dipper have very different personalities and she maybe wishes that he was more like her, but expecting someone else to say ¨yes¨ to everything you want is a toxic mentality to have. And the episode itself doesn’t address this enough, it doesn’t bring up to Mabel she can’t expect people to work like this and she should try thinking more about what others wants.
Lets talk about The Ghost and Molly Mcgee. In this series Molly Mcgee often has episodes where she has to learn certain lessons. One of them she learns over time is that often she has to give up control and let what others want to do instead.
Tumblr media
A good example of this is ¨Ready, Set, Snow!¨ in which she is constanly trying to make Libby and Scratch to go and play outside in the snow with her without considering they would rather stay inside and sit near the fire for the moment. She spends most of the episode trying to find ways to make them go outside until she gets angry and goes out on her own. She has… quite of a mental breakdown in a sequence song. Scratch goes to check on her but he tells to her that she can’t do always what she wants and what it is important is for her to be spending time with her friends. Molly realizes she was wrong, goes back to the house and she apologizes for how she acted.
Molly has quite a lot of episodes like this, and all this becomes important in the series finale ¨The End¨ when she sees that Scratch has to go back to be Todd even if that means forgetting the memories he got as a ghost, her included. She tells Scratch that she is going to miss him a lot but she knows that forcing Scratch to stay wouldn’t be right. She encourages Scratch to go and ¨live his life¨ because she cares about Scratch being happy.
Tumblr media
Similar to Marcy Wu, Molly learns that she can’t force people to do what she wants and she has to let them choose for themselves. She knows that encouraging Scratch to do what he always wanted to do as human is the right thing to do, even if it means saying goodbye to him.
I do understand the idea that Gravity Falls was doing at with something among the lines of ¨Dipper and Mabel not repeating the same mistakes that their uncles did¨ but that doesn’t mean Dipper has to give up his dreams at expense of what Mabel wants. As Dipper said in VS The Future episode: he can still visit and they can still talk to each other. They don’t have to fall apart the same way Standford and Stan did. Just like in Amphibia, if Marcy still was able to remain friends with Anne and Sasha over the years, the same can be applied to Dipper and Mabel as siblings.
If not, it could be rewritten in a way that makes Dipper reconsider that he would like to wait a few years before joining Stanford in his adventures. That he is still a kid and wants to spend a while longer figuring himself out and be with Mabel before making a decision. That way it feels more like a decision he wants to do for himself and goes along with his character arc that he doesn’t have to rush to grow up.
As for Mabel, she has a lot of growing up to do. She has to learn overtime that Dipper is his own person and he can take is own path. That if she wants to have friends or have in general healthy relationships with others, she can’t make it always about herself and people have their own needs as well. She would have to work on her codependency and clinginess she has on others, specially her own brother. This would help her with being a more mature capable individual when she grows up.
This post on itself isn’t me hating on Mabel’s character since she has moments she can be good and i feel a lot of her behaviour comes from not being taught properly and being a teenager. The problem is that the series doesn’t address this behaviour enough and, as result, it comes off as the series giving an unintentional underwhelming message of potraying Mabel’s issues as something that should be acceptable and not her having a dynamic with Dipper that comes off as toxic. It is important to understand to learn to support others and not always make things about ourselves. That sometimes relationships change and we can’t force people to be in a specific way.

Viktor x Reader Headcanons
Pronouns for reader: Gender neutral, AFAB undertones if you squint
Relationship type: Platonic to Romantic
General Idea: Some silly little headcanons I have for Viktor because he's still my silly little princess. Even after the whole glorious evolution thing.
Content Warnings: S1 Viktor, no S2 spoilers, But there as little bit of s2 viktor's mindset, I'm projecting a little bit (a lot) but it's fine.
Tumblr media
~☆~
I honestly see Viktor as asexual with light aromantic undertones (kinda like demiromantic, I guess??). He rarely ever developes romantic feelings. Like its a once in a blue moon thing.
Like... he has to know you for YEARS before something in his head is like "Oh... hey they kinda cute?"
However, when he DOES develop feelings that go beyond friendship, Viktor HEAVILY struggles with coming to terms with them. Not in like a "I don't DO feelings" type way, but more in a "Well... no... it could be this" type of way.
Oh, his heart rate speeds up a little bit when you two accidently brush hands? It must just be his nerves.
When he does realize that he has feelings for someone, it's kind of like that scene in Gravity Falls where Dipper is like "It's not like I stay awake at night thinking about Wendy" and it cuts to him laying awake thinking about Wendy XD
If he likes someone romantically, he talks about them a lot. Like as if trying to bring them up as much as he can. Like "Oh (Y/N) mentioned something about that book, said they really liked it" Or "(Y/N) actually said something similar about that topic" If he could yap about you for hours, he probably would.
Even if you're being PAINFULLY obvious about your romantic feelings towards Viktor, he will firmly believe you're just being friendly.
Why he does it is a mix between two things: one is that he's just not awesome with people. And second is that he firmly believes someone like you could never love someone like him back.
One night, Viktor had been constantly working without break, so you practically dragged him to his room by his ear and forced him to get some rest.
Viktor has a strong habit of having his workspace FILLED with old mugs, sometimes days old. He doesn't really mean to, just too wrapped up in Hextech to really notice.
He also struggles with meals too. Just like above, because he literally just gets too wrapped up in his work.
If Viktor actually confesses feelings, it's such an interesting experience. Because he doesn't just flat out say "Hey I have feelings for you". He stumbles over his words and rambles about something random in the middle of it. So you gotta help him out a little bit.
Viktor's love language is quality time. He'll make sure his seat is next to you when it can, he always yaps about what he's uncovered about Hextech.
Speaking of Hextech, if you just sit there and watch him work? He'd about die of happiness on the spot. If you, someone he really loved, took an interest to something he truly loved DOING? Perfect.
He used to get really flustered about physical affection. Like you held his hand one time and he about combusted. He was red in the face for hours. He got better with it overtime, of course. But for the first few months, he was pretty much bright red the whole time.
Dates are rare, neither of you have the time for it. But when you two do have dates of some kind, they're mostly stay at home type things.
You know that thing kids do? Like playing their own separate things together? Parallel play, I think it's called? Yeah you two do that a lot.
Viktor will be reading some papers and you'll be reading a book, your feet in his lap.
Speaking of, Viktor is such a reader omg He doesn't read a lot anymore due to his constant workload, but when he does, he reads a lot of like... old books. The ones with yellowing pages and smell nice? Yeah... those ones!
If you two slept in the same bed, he'd be all like... giggly and nervous the first few times. Just like affection, he'd get used to it. But it's still cute.
When you two are cuddling, run your fingers in his hair. He'll melt right into you regardless of the situation. It's like an instant relax button for him.
Him laying his head on your chest, and you running your fingers through his hair? Something about it just... works. It calms him down a lot and makes him feel at peace.
His favorite place to kiss is the crook of your neck. Especially if you're around his height (he's like... between 5'7 and 5'10. I don't remember exactly).
Or your temples. It's simple, it doesn't attract a lot of attention. And let's be real, it's underrated as hell.
He's not big on PDA, but he'll hold your hand in public. He likes holding onto just one of your fingers, like your pinkie or something like that. It, just like temple kisses, is simple and discreet.
He doesn't often say "I love you". He feels bad about it, but you don't mind. He often says I love you without saying it. Things like holding you while you sleep, kissing your forehead as you two read in each other's arms, weaving your fingers with his while he works.
He gets self-conscious a lot. He thinks you could do a lot better than him and that he's not perfect.
Please kiss this poor boy all over and tell him he's perfect as is 😭😭
~☆~
A/N:The Arcane brainrot has gotten to me... This is how I'm coping with the finale. But I've wanted to write Viktor or Sevika stuff for a HOT minute now. I've been in the Arcane fandom for YEARS (a fanfic writer even longer) but this is my first Arcane fic... wild XD

Being with Dipper in Gravity Falls means you get to see a side of him that not everyone does. He’s always been curious and brave, but with you, there’s a softer, more vulnerable side that emerges. Dipper isn’t great at grand romantic gestures, but his affection comes through in small, thoughtful ways that show just how much he cares.
He loves going on late-night walks with you through the woods, where the two of you can talk without interruptions. The air is cool, the stars are bright, and it feels like you’re the only two people in the world. Dipper’s hand will find yours, and though he might start off a little shy, by the end of the walk, he’s holding on like he never wants to let go.
When the two of you are together, Dipper can’t help but smile more. You notice how his eyes light up when you laugh, and he’ll often find excuses to be close to you, whether it’s sitting next to you on the couch or sharing a blanket during a movie. He’s not always the most confident in expressing his feelings, but he’s incredibly genuine when he does. He might awkwardly stumble through a compliment or blush when you catch him staring, but the sincerity in his voice makes it all the more endearing.
Dipper’s protective instincts kick in whenever you’re in a tough situation. He’s always looking out for you, whether it’s offering his jacket when you’re cold or stepping in front of you when things get dangerous. He worries about your safety, but he also trusts you to handle yourself. It’s a balance he’s still figuring out, but he’s always there when you need him.
Sometimes, Dipper will surprise you with little notes or drawings he’s done. He’s not one for grand declarations, but you’ll find a page in his journal where he’s sketched the two of you together or a note that says something like, “You make everything better.” These small, heartfelt gestures mean the world to you because they’re so uniquely him.
Dipper also loves sharing his world with you. He’ll take you to all his favorite spots in Gravity Falls, telling you the stories behind each one. Whether it’s the spot where he solved his first mystery or the place where he goes to think, sharing these places with you feels special to him. It’s like letting you into a part of his heart that he doesn’t show to just anyone.
When you’re both caught up in a mystery, Dipper is laser-focused, but he never forgets to check in with you. He’ll make sure you’re okay, offer you a smile, or squeeze your hand reassuringly. It’s his way of saying that, no matter what, you’re in this together.
In quieter moments, Dipper loves just being close to you. He’ll lean his head on your shoulder while you read together or gently play with your fingers as you talk. He’s not always the most physically affectionate, but when he is, it’s incredibly sweet and tender. You’ve become his safe place, someone he can relax around and be himself with, no matter what’s happening in the world around you.
Dipper may be a bit awkward and uncertain at times, but there’s no doubting the depth of his feelings for you. He’s loyal, caring, and always trying to find ways to make you smile. Being with him is like being on an adventure every day—one filled with love, laughter, and a connection that only grows stronger with time.

OHHHHH YEEEESSS THANK YOU SO MUCH AAHHHH THIS IS SO GOOD!!!!
I can imagine when they first met Dipper was actually afraid of Hunter for how he looked, until the point he asked Wirt if he was even human, something that Wirt bearly deny it. THAT would be start for Dipper to actually want to investigate him more, who´s this guy? what kind of creature he is? why he looks so human? what does he do?
Well, Wirt is actually just human but the guilt for his actions had made him to have a twisted view of himself, until the point he thinks himself as some kind of sub-human or half beast like. I think Dipper realised soon than ever that Wirt is not a creature but in fact a poor boy with a unstable mental state, but before taking actual action he wants to know him first
Or well, at least thats a idea
Yes please I wanna read the Jekyll and Hyde one, its my favorite novel, yes please
Talking with a friend about Hunter!Wirt (Pinescone Addition)
@vacz told me to tag them, so here we go. These are some of the more innocent things we talked about-- thank you @xovera-toz for listening to my rambles as usual.
• Not gonna lie-- Dipper matches his freak. Like that boy is curious, pen at the ready, new journal to jot down all the data about Hunter!Wirt and the unknown. Wirt is a little flattered to be the sole subject of a journal, and tends to find himself curled up near Dipper, looking over his shoulder, or head in lap as Dipper writes his daily findings.
•Some of the things Dipper has noted. "Has a habit of Biting. Painful, but also followed by apology licking/grooming. I'm embarrassed to admit I enjoy this more than I should" "Is possessive-- but I once put a hit on a man, so I'm not one to talk" This one was directly from @xovera-toz: Wirt's nonexistent tail wagging because he saw Dipper writing "affectionate" in his journal page
"Watership Down/Monty Python Bunny. Looks innocent/is feral underneath... but also Looks Dangerous/Is Shy and Sweet underneath."
"He's a Freak :heartpulse:  :two_hearts:"
"Very nice to snuggle With-- though tends to not let me leave once he's comfortable" "Scared of abandonment and rejection. Will take a lot of time and patience and trust to work through-- I have my Work cut out for me." "Has threatened to disembowel me if I leave...turned it in my favor (No I will not elaborate) ^((A/N: I can actually elaborate-- but it's a little more mature))
• In most of my Pinescone, my Ford has beef with Wirt for no other reason that it makes me laugh, and Ford being overly suspicious of Wirt (cause my Wirt can be a bit of a sneaky bun bun), as well a critical because he just wants the best for Dipper (even though Wirt is the best. It's a long process of Ford warming up to Wirt-- the way Ford acts around Wirt, is the way Wirt acts around Jason Funderberker). But in this au, now Hunter!Wirt is more dangerous-- more deranged. A lot more aggressive, and it's openly on his sleeve. He actually can hurt Dipper (and has in his excitement/affection). Ford: How could you date something so unstable!? What could be possibly going through your head! Where did this come from? Dipper: (looking at Ford, knowing this man dated Bill Cipher) ...Gee, I wonder....
• Despite sometimes the uncertainty, or stability of Wirt, Dipper can also see underneath he's just a scared boy, desperately trying to be a good brother-- and you know Dipper has a soft spot for good sibling figures. Even though he's aware Greg isn't in the lantern-- he plays along. Example: Wirt waking up and finding Dipper reading to 'Greg' He was only supposed to nap-- he didnt want to be weak and vulnerable-- didn't want to leave his back turned. He woke up frazzled, and panicked-- turning to look for Dipper, expecting him to be gone, or trying to kill him in his sleep. Instead he finds Dipper reading to 'Greg', showing the lantern his journal as he talks about all he's uncovered about his brother.
• Dipper braids Wirt's hair like he learned how to do with Mabel, sometimes putting flowers in it, as he whispers praises and gentle words of comfort. (Mabel has also done a few different hairdo's with Wirt's long mane-- Wirt often feels like a small dog getting fluffed up in those moments, whereas with Dipper it's a little more relaxing with someone who matches his anxiety).
• The both aren't the biggest fans of baths, but they work through it together, Dipper often guiding Wirt into the bath, and usually distracting each other, by talking for hours. They both end up a little prune-y, and a little cleaner-- even if the water is a bit swampy when they get out.
• ((Slightly more suggestive for older Pinescone)): Hunter!Wirt: W-what if I lose control? What if I bite you? What if I I tear you apart in a frenzy? Dipper: ...promise? Hunter!Wirt: !!!! ??? (Not sure how to feel about that reaction)
• Housewife Dipper helping to make this cabin a home, as he softly studies Wirt and the unknown, while balancing the usual ups and downs that comes with his field of intrigue. He's a lot like Jane from Disney's Tarzan. Fascinated-- a bit afraid, but more willing to learn and understand. And the more he does- the more endeared he becomes.
Tumblr media
((And those are some of the ideas-- I haven't even gotten into the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde au portion, but let me know if you want to hear more?))
I'm a little flustered after everything-- I hope you enjoy >///<

The post of Ford being naturally affectionate haven't leave my mind omg but (in your opinion) what about the other way? What would happen if the reader is casually affectionate to the Stan's? Rubbing their hand on their back, leaning their head to his shoulders, briefly touching their hair, etc
I think they are both naturally affectionate, it comes out in them in little ways. But omg if someone did it to them?! Absolutely flustered! I think we've seen a lot from the series and so forth to suggest that both of them don't quite know what to do when someone turns the tables on them, and is geniunely interested in them.
(rest under cut)
Stanley loves it, he'll not think too much of you putting an arm around him or something small like that, but more affectionate touching (e.g your hand rubbing his back) without him somehow initiating it? He's a mess, he's not used to it and gets flustered in the beginning! He panics just a teensy bit and if you ask if he's okay or try to stop the touch he'll reassure you its fine, but he's doing a bad job at maintaining that smooth, confident facade, for sure ^^'
He'll make a few little jokes about it if he feels too startled about you initiating casual affection, even ones that are a little flirty, cause he does like it, he's just not used to it. (like "woah there, toots! hands off the merchandise!" or "you feel that? that's made of husband material!" *wink wink*) xD
He may even confess he doesn't think he'll ever get used to it, which (un)fortunately for him only spurs you on to do it as much as possible. (On a sadder note, I think Stanley has gone without so much affection, especially romantically, or has been used to things going badly in the past, that he might have some moments he's suspicious that you have ulterior motives. But I think, since having the twins over for the summer and reconnecting with his brother he'd be less jumpy/paranoid.)
But he likes a little bit of PDA, Stan's heart will swell with pride and affection at some of those touches, especially if you lean your head on his shoulder, link your arm through his, those sorts of things. It feels 'gentlemanly' to him, like when he used to go to the pictures as a kid, where the young lead would 'court' girls in the movies he watched. I mean, he watches the duchess approves, this man has a romantic streak! Just don't call him a sap, he'll never admit to it. Though, after a while he'll lean into it, and when he does he'll 'get you back' for being affectionate to him, like when you came up to kiss him on the cheek when he had a lull in the tour he was doing? Expect 'revenge' in the form of being teased mercilessly
(the kissing exchange rate is exceptionally high, so now you will receive 5 kisses back! The next day it's 10 kisses, 'why is it so high', you say? inflation ya know? but then stan forgets to count and is like 'ah, screw it!' and drops the play act to properly smooch you <3 if dipper and mabel are around to see these antics they will voice how gross this is haha)
Tumblr media
Stanford is more or less the same, in that he has gone without such affection for long periods of time, even if he had friends in other dimensions. Man is more touched starved and not as open (initially) to casual affection from someone, but once he becomes more familiar with you, he would be naturally affectionate too! It catches him off guard a lot more in comparison to his brother, though, he's still adjusting a little to 'normal' life, so its best to make sure he's aware that you're going to touch him as the contact might make him literally jump, out of pure instinct!
He's definitely flustered and surprised that someone else is initiating touch/affection with him, at first he is a little bewildered and feels insecure, he's out of his depth as he feels like doesn't know how to reciprocate and he hates the feeling; he feels bad because he is touch starved some of the time he becomes touch averse. (He'll have to bite the bullet and communicate that it's okay, instead of having an internal meltdown; he's been healing well from the past, so he'll quickly realise this is needed.)
So, he settles into welcoming it, he may be out of practice but it's nice to have someone who is comfortable around him so much that they would want to rest a head on his shoulder or hold his hand or let him hug them. That's just what friends do and he will start to trust and feel safer around you more, for the casual affection you show.
He's a little more reserved than his brother, but nevertheless he does like the attention - especially in public, though he's not really one for PDA, he likes holding your hand.
Just might take him a while to fully realise when its romantic vs platonic, potentially, but if you're already in the romantic zone, I think he'd be a lot more aware that you're being affectionate and he'd still have times he'll blush because of it and get all dreamy-eyed since he's not used to it, but also he just loves the reassurance your physical touch gives him that you love him too! He definitely confesses at points that he doesn't know if he'll ever get used to the casual affection you give to him so easily, will sometimes even apologise for being caught off guard by your affection. Does (rarely) get a little annoyed by your affection when he's absorbed in his work becuase he doesn't want to be distracted ^^' but that's only because physical touch is actually a strong love language for him, he tends to feel like he's been switched off or short circuiting when you rub your hand across his back or through his hair, he'll never finish those equations now! hehehe
(have you ever seen those tiktoks where someone is like asking my nerdy bf about *insert interest here* whilst wearing something revealing, or something along those lines and they get all flustered and trip over htier words? yeah, that's Ford! He'll make a good attempt at trying to be composed at first tho, but it's ultimately gonna fail!)

I was looking at your relativity falls au and I was thinking since Ford in the original series takes off Stan’s hat to show his hair, kinda revealing he is Ford, what if in relativity falls Ford takes the glasses off of Stan and puts them on and that is kinda of the moment
Also I really want more protective! Relativity falls Ford, I want to watch that child go feral and start biting people <3
Hiiiii!!! Sorry it took a super long time to reply to this I just,, this possessed me so much I may or may not have written, uh, 7400 words based on this lol (also a drawing but it’s hidden in the writing haha)
There sadly isn’t a lot of feral protective Ford in this, just sad wet cat baby Ford (tho you get a glimpse of it at the very end), but believe me I have many thoughts of protective Ford as they’re teens hehe!!
Like, they’re so fun to be because they’re the opposite of how they are in the show! Stan was the protector and would get into fights for Ford, but as teens Ford is extremely protective of Stan and will throw himself into a fight he know he can’t win in a moments notice because they insulted Stan, even when Stan tries to insist that it’s okay. These two make me siiiiick 💥💥💥💥💥
Anywho, this mini writing this is just a prolonged scene from Weirdmageddon part 3 but with my Relativity Falls AU paint on it lol
It’s filled with an comical amount of tears because I believe Mabel and Dipper are weepy saps and the baby boys haven’t had the ‘Boys don’t cry’ motto drilled into their heads yet, also they’re like, super traumatized atm haha
Well, have fun reading! Please please please please be nice, I know I’m not the best writer and just write when I’m possessed so please be so niceies to me or I’ll fucking cry <33💥💥💥💥
Everything is under the cut! :]
🍃🪦☁️~~~~~~~~~~~~⛈️👓🥀
Mabel and Dipper could only watch on in shock and horror as one of their beloved great nephew erased the mind of their other beloved great nephew. Dipper didn’t even know the boys still had that blasted machine, much less that they still had it on them here of all places!
Maybe it was good that the children had the memory gun hidden away. After all, they just used it to outwit and defeat Cipher.
However… at what cost?
Stanley’s round face was drenched in silent tears as he held the memory gun to the back of his brother’s head, his gaze completely focused but his trembling grip on the memory gun giving away just how much this was affecting him.
Dipper always thought he’d be ecstatic when Bill Cipher was finally defeated. Spit on his face, dance on his grave, give the worst eulogy in the world, the whole shebang. But now that the moment has finally arrived all he can feel is sick to his stomach.
They’re just kids. They shouldn’t be here. His sweet little grand-nephews shouldn’t be paying for his hubris. This should’ve stayed between him and Bill.
It should have been him.
The bright blue light faded and the memory gun hit the ground, Stanley’s hands shaking even worse now as tears fell to the floor, unable to keep his head up as little hiccups fell from his lips.
Dipper was still squeezing Mabel close to his side, the two frozen in their huddled positions on the floor, gut-wrenching guilt on his face while his sister had her hands over his mouth, only able to watch on with dread.
Dipper only faintly registered that the other members of the zodiac had been released from their tapestry prisons. That blonde woman Mabel seemed to like was rubbing her head as that young Hispanic woman who works for Mabel, Anjelita, held out a hand to help her up. That red-headed hairy lumberjack and that one oddly peppy goth teen helped young Fiddleford through his shaky breathing.
After a couple of moments Dipper heard his sister take a deep shaky breath, his voice wet as one of her hands reached out towards Stanley.
“…L-Lee? Lee, baby come here-” There was a weary and wobbly smile on her lips. She was doing that thing where she tries to be the comforting light in an awful situation, even though she is not doing any better than anyone else at the moment.
She was trying to corral her crying great-nephew into her arms, a mixture of trying to comfort him and herself.
She was swiftly cut off by gravity going wonky.
Dark bricks ripped out of the walls and shot up into the rift up in the blood red sky, Weirdmaggedon falling apart at the seams. Creatures of many shapes and sizes flew up into the rift, the older twins gripping each other close as they stared up into the multicolored light. Everyone was staring up into the sky, hope and relief in their hearts that the nightmare might finally be over.
Everyone but Stanley.
He was intensely staring at the back of his brother’s head, silent tears continuously streaming down his cheeks, unable to see the small content smile on Stanford’s face.
As the light began to envelop the town of Gravity Falls, Stanley reached out his hand to his kneeling brother to try and grab onto him but was unable to before the light reached the two, erasing most traces of Weirdmaggedon’s effects and safely displacing everyone in the Fearamid to the ground below.
The woods were quiet. Everything was much quieter than it was during Weirdmageddon.
There was barely a moment of peace before Dipper and Mabel were sprinting through the woods yelling out for their great-nephews, panic increasing with every passing second.
They finally came across the boys in a small clearing after 2 minutes of franticness. Stanley’s back to the older set of twins and Stanford kneeling in the grass.
Mabel ran much faster than Dipper did, practically throwing herself to her knees as she grabbed Stanley and pulled him tight into her arms. She buried him into the crook of her neck, tears beginning to drip down her face as she ran her fingers through his messy brown curls, trying to soothe him while she gently shushed his crying.
“Shhhh… shhh it’s okay Lee it’s okay sweepea, I’m here, Grunkle Mabel is here pumpkin.”
Dipper would’ve chuckled at the use of ‘Grunkle Mabel’, something Stanley insisted on calling her even after she revealed that she wasn’t a man because he thought Grauntie sounded strange, but he couldn’t really feel anything but heart ache right now. He stepped closer to the crying duo, kneeling down next to them as he glanced over towards Stanford.
He still seemed to be unconscious, quiet as a mouse as he kneeled on the grass. He was so still that Dipper almost wanted to check his pulse to make sure his heart was still beating, but the soft breathing coming from his chest eased his worries. Stanford was always so stressed and on edge the entire time Dipper had known him, which in all honesty, wasn't very long. However, in this moment with that small smile on his lips his nephew almost looked peaceful.
Guilt ate at his heart even more.
God he should’ve seen the warning signs that tension was building between the two boys. He’s the catalyst for causing Weirdmageddon by saying he would train Stanford in Gravity Falls while Stanley went home. He should’ve put his foot down and said Stanford was too young and needed to go home at the end of the summer with his brother. But his great nephew was just so insistent and Dipper himself was scrambling to think of an amazing gift for his twin sister for their first birthday together in 30 years, he just caved and said yes.
He’s the reason Stanley ran with that cracked rift. He was the final crack in the already strained relationship between the boys and he was too blind to notice.
He turned to his sister once more, emotions welling in his heart seeing his sister and nephew so upset and clinging to each other. He gingerly rubbed Stanley’s back and Mabel’s shoulder, softly speaking with sorrow dripping from his voice, “Stanley, I am so sorry… words can’t express how much I didn’t want this to happen. You shouldn’t have had to deal with the consequences of my mistakes..” He gingerly tucked a loose curl behind Stanley’s ear, softly adding on with a feeling of shame flooding his head, “…It should’ve been me.”
Mabel’s head immediately shot up at Dipper’s words, a glare on her wet face as she shot back with a low warning tone, “Dipper Lee Pines.” He quickly shut his mouth. Noted, she wasn’t going to take any self depreciation coming from him at the moment. Can’t say he blames her, he would’ve done the same if any self-depreciating words came from her mouth.
Stanley muffled something against Mabel’s neck instantly making the two stop what they were doing to turn to him. “What was that baby?” Mabel gently asked as Dipper continued to rub his back. The young boy pulled himself away from Mabel’s neck ever so slightly, taking in a deep shaky breath as he shakily repeated himself.
“…n-not Lee-”
The older twins' brows furrow, their hands stilling slightly as it was Dipper’s turn to softly question, “What are you talking about Stanley?”
The brunet pulls his trembling form away from Mabel to stand up, wiping his wet face with his arm, his cheeks so flushed from sobbing that his faint freckles were easily seen against the red. He stood still for a moment, trying to calm his breathing before he stepped between the sitting pair of twins and towards his kneeling brother.
He took in the sight of him for a moment, a sick feeling in his stomach as his trembling hands tentatively grab onto the glasses on his unconscious brother’s face, his touch light as a feather and careful, as if he was afraid his brother would shatter if his finger even as so much grazed him. He carefully pulled the glasses off and stared down at them in his hands, a fresh wave of silent tears falling from his cheeks and onto the cracked glass lenses.
“I-I’m… I’m n-not…” He shakily whispers, voice caught in his throat as he tries to get the words out. He gingerly lifted the glasses to his face and placed them onto his red nose, his fingers gripping the temples of the glasses as he hesitantly turned around. His wet brown eyes locked with his kneeling great-uncle and great-aunt, the kid’s gaze drowning in guilt as Stanford hesitantly continued on with his wobbling voice, “…I-I’m not S-Stanley.”
Tumblr media
The two froze at those words, Mabel's bewildered gaze kept whipping her gaze between Stanford and Stanley, quickly growing distressed while Dipper felt a deep pit form in his stomach.
He’s so stupid, it should’ve been obvious but in all the chaos he didn’t even think to check. In the moment of peace he finally saw the differences.
The six fingers and the way his eyes squinted without his glasses should’ve been a dead giveaway, but there were also other signs as well.
Stanley had told Dipper not too long ago that his tooth was knocked out the second day the twins showed up. Apparently it was knocked loose when he fell face first into the dirt while fleeing with Stanford from a vampire, after his brother had hid the 3rd journal away from Stanley all day, taking ‘Trust No One’ Dipper had scrambled onto that in a paranoid panic to heart.
Stanford just lost his tooth not even 30 minutes ago. When the boys had begun to argue on the Zodiac Wheel Stanley couldn’t take it anymore and decked Stanford to the ground. Dipper remembers the immediate regret that flashed onto the young boy’s face when his brother spat out a bloody tooth onto the floor, opening his mouth to try and apologize but was unable to get a word out before Stanford quickly punched him back, causing the infamous fight between the two.
Stanford still had some speckles of dried blood on his chin, a reminder of that awful fight.
The two had faint freckles dusting their face but Stanley was the only one who had freckles on his shoulders.
The bandaid on Stanford’s face was falling off, as if it was peeled off and slapped onto his face.
Mabel let out a weak and breathless noise of confusion, brows furrowed and clearly overwhelmed by everything happening in such a short time. “W-Wha-? How-?”
Dipper cut his sister off. She was barely keeping it together as is, and while he was also extremely upset he had a lot of practice suppressing these kinds of emotions to survive in the multiverse. He can take over for a moment just so Mabel can take a moment to breathe.
“Stanford… what happened?” Dipper questioned, a comforting hand on his twin’s shoulder as his furrowed gaze met Stanley’s. Despite how intense he looked, there was a softness in his voice. A quiet plea for his great-nephew to tell him what the hell is going on.
Stanford’s watery eyes stayed locked with the ground, looking almost as overwhelmed and weary as Mabel did while his hands fidgeted against his stomach. “W-When you two started getting c-chased Bill I…” His breathing hitched. “…I didn’t know what to d-do, I was just so s-scared.”
One of his finger’s lifted to his lip as he unconsciously began to chew the skin off the side of it, a habit Mabel has been fighting tooth and nail for Ford to quit through the entire Summer.
Not that she can really bring herself to care at the moment.
Stanford looked increasingly distressed as he continued. “I-I was panicking, I always know w-what to do and I just I couldn’t t-think of anything! I thought my h-head was going to explode when-” He takes in a sharp breath, more tears beginning to well up in his eyes. “…w-when Stanley said he had a plan.”
Stanford was trying to wipe away the thick tears off his face, his cheeks irritated and red from how often he's been rubbing away tears. “E-Everything went so fast. He was explaining the p-plan as fast as he could while we swapped clothes. Said we were going to p-pull off our best con yet. Tricking Bill into S-Stan’s mind by convincing him it was m-mine and then erasing him for g-good.”
“I t-tried to ask why we were d-doing all of this… Stanley could've just erased my mind after I let B-Bill in and e-everything would just end, but Stanley… S-Stanley didn’t budge. He s-said it had to be him. Said I… S-Said I actually had a future.” Ford breathing hiccups, shoulders hiking up to his neck as even more even more tears run down his cheeks and to the grass below. “A-A-And I was j-just so scared I… I let him… I let h-him take my place…”
A choked sob rips from his throat, unable to take it anymore as he covers his face with his polydactyl hands, continuing to explain through the tears and shaky speech. “O-One of the last things I ever d-did was punch h-him in the face! I never t-told him I was s-sorry! He DIED thinking I h-hated him!”
Dipper immediately jumped into action, pushing himself over to Ford and pulling his hands away from his face. He rested his forehead against his great-nephew’s and held onto his smaller hands, keeping his eyes on Stanford’s as he firmly spoke. “Breathe with me Stanford. In and out.”
It took a moment but the kid’s breathing slowed ever so slightly as he tried to mimic Dipper’s breaths though he was still unable to control the hiccuping and sniffling.
“You didn’t kill Stanley.” Dipper continued to speak, his tone softening considerably as he gently squeezed Ford’s polydactyl hand with his larger one. “He’s alive and breathing right behind you.”
The kid began to look frustrated as he lowly choked out, “He might as well be.”
Dipper… couldn’t exactly retort that. By all means Stanley would be a shell of his former self, fundamentally a completely different person when he wakes up. However, he wasn’t going to let his great-nephew wallow like this. He gently squeezed his hands once more and softly questioned, “…Do you really think Stanley would hate you after all of this?”
Stanford froze at the question, only the sound of rustling leaves and birds chirping to be heard as the brunet boy’s eyes stayed locked with Dipper’s before letting it fall to the dirt below. After a couple quiet moments Stanford finally mumbled out. “He should.”
“But would he?”
“….” Ford couldn’t reply, a bittersweet and melancholic feeling flooding his heart.
As if on cue, a faint noise was suddenly made behind the three of them.
Everyone whirled their heads over to where Stanley sat kneeling on the grass. His brown eyes blearily began to open as he raised his hand up to idly rub them. The faint freckles on his cheeks and his brown curls were dusted in the warm light of the sun. A yawn fell from his lips, tiny tears pricking the corners of his eyes from the deep breath, before he finally opened his eyes completely.
His brown eyes blinked away sleep, his gaze slowly darting between the three people also kneeling on the grass in front of him, not saying a word yet, just taking them in.
Dipper and Ford waited with baited breath, words stuck in their throats as they stared back at Stan, trying to find any familiarity in his eyes.
Mabel couldn’t wait a single second longer.
“…S-Stanley? Lee?” She softly questioned, tears beginning to well up in her eyes again as she gingerly crawled closer to him. “H-Hey my little firecracker! You r-remember me right? Your lovable Grunkle Mabel!” Her hands raise up to cup Stanley’s round cheeks, her smile a little wobbly but her brown eyes filled with a ray of hope. “You remember me, d-don’t you pumpkin?”
Stanley just stared blankly at his great-aunt, completely silent for a moment before his brows furrow. He tilts his head, confusion clearly seen in his blank eyes as he bluntly asks, “Who are you?”
Mabel’s heart might as well have shattered into a million pieces. The tears welling up in her eyes freely fall but the wobbly smile refuses to fall. One hand raises to run through his messy curls as the other continues to cup his face. “W-What are you talking about sweetheart? It’s me, Stanley, It’s Mabel.”
Dipper sprung forward and gently began to pull Mabel away from Stanley, that pit in his stomach growing even more as his sister tried to weakly yank herself out of his grasp while crying out, “It’s me, Stanley! It’s me!” He squeezed her in his arms as her cries turned to sobs, burying her face against Dipper’s chest as she finally let out all the pain she’s been keeping in her chest since the moment Weirdmageddon had begun.
“It’s no use Mabel, Stanley doesn’t remember anything.” Dipper softly spoke. He hugged her close and rested his cheek on the top of her head, her silver curls brushing against his skin as his brown eyes locked with Stanley. The kid looked so confused and lost, a sight that just made his heart ache even more. “…Stanley doesn’t even realize it, but he just saved the world… Saved us… Our little hero…”
Stanley brows were furrowed, not understanding anything that was going on in the slightest. He glanced over at where Stanford was standing, lifting up his hand to cup his mouth and loudly stage whisper to the brunet, “What’s up with the old guys?”
Stanford didn’t answer, just staring at Stanley with large globs of tears dripping down his cheeks. Without warning he sprinted to his brother, engulfing Stanley in a tight hug and hiding his face in his neck. The impact of the tackle hug almost knocked the two to the floor but Stanley managed to keep himself propped up with one arm, brown eyes wide with shock as even more confusion filled his fuzzy mind. “W-Woah, okay-! We’re hugging now, I guess!”
“I’m s-sorry, I’m sorry, I’m s-so sorry-” Stanford kept repeating those words over and over against his brother’s neck, his body trembling from just how hard he was crying.
Stanley had no clue what the hell was happening. He was in a place he’s never seen before, surrounded by strangers sobbing their eyes out, and he was realizing that he couldn’t really remember what his name was again. A part of him was telling him he should just book it, get away from these weirdos, but something in him refused to let him.
Maybe it was because they all genuinely looked so sad. He didn’t know who they were but his heart sorta ached at their grief-stricken appearances, kind of wanting to comfort them in some way.
Maybe he’s a bleeding heart, he can’t really remember if he is.
Stanley shuffled a little in Stanford’s tight grasp until finally something kinda heavy was laid onto the sobbing child’s shoulders. Stanford tentatively lifted his wet face from his brother’s neck to peer behind him.
It was his leather bomber jacket. Stanley had subtlety slipped off the jacket, careful not to jostle the crying kid too much, then plopped it onto his shoulders.
“You looked like you needed it more than me.” Stanley spoke, an awkward but kind smile on his face. He then quickly shrugged it off and added on with a casual tone, “Besides, I was gettin’ warm in that thing, you can just keep it.”
Stanford sharply inhaled at those words, polydactyl hands letting go of Stanley to grip at the jacket draped over his shoulders and pull it even closer, acting as if it was a barrier that could protect him from the world around him. A choking sob ripped from Stanford’s throat, hiding his face against his brother’s neck once again.
“Okay! We’re still crying!” Stanley awkwardly sputtered out, tensing up as the brunet continued to cry against his neck, unsure of what he should be doing. Eventually he settled on tentatively patting the crying kid’s back, hoping that he was actually comforting the kid and not making whatever was happening worse.
“I s-shouldn’t have pushed you a-away because I was t-told to! You w-were never a burden! I-I don’t hate you! I n-never did!” Stanford kept crying apologizes against Stanley’s shoulder, making the already confused brunet boy even more lost with every word spoken. His hand continued to pat on Ford’s back as he softly replied, his words tentative and unsure, “…I don’t hate you either.”
“Yes you do.” Stanford thickly replied against his brother's shoulder, completely and utterly convinced in his distraught state that his brother would absolutely hate him if he could remember what Ford did to him.
Stanley couldn’t exactly reply to that because he genuinely didn’t know if he did hate this kid. He didn’t even know who he was. So instead of responding he just continued to rub the brunet’s back, hoping to ease the hyperventilation sobs buried against his skin.
It took a handful of long moments filled with silence and tears for the three to compose themselves, Dipper being the first to finally stand up.
“…We’ve been wallowing here long enough, people are going to get worried.”
Dipper gingerly pulls Mabel to her feet, tears had stopped falling from her face but her cheeks red and her famous smile no longer present. He made sure his sister was steady on her feet before holding out his hand to the twin boys huddled together on the ground, a small weary smile on his wrinkled face.
“Come on… let’s go home.”
The twins pull themselves up with Dipper’s help. Once on their feet Ford latches onto Stan’s arm, sticking to his side and refusing to let go. Stanley doesn’t seem to mind or even notice the clinging presence as his brown eyes look up at the sky and over the tall trees with curious wonder.
Dipper softly sighed and eyed over the fascinated brunet looking over the tree line with concern, “Are your muscles alright, Stanley? No issues with walking or standing?”
The kid didn’t respond for a moment, still looking around before he finally registered that he was being spoken to. His brown eyes darted around before he pointed at himself with his free hand. “Oh! Am I Stanley?”
Dipper felt a stab in his chest at the question, but still gently replied, “Yeah… you’re Stanley.”
Stanley nodded at the confirmation and softly said ‘Staaaanley’ under his breath, getting accustomed to the unfamiliar name.
“Stanley… cool name! I like it!” He cheerfully replied, a wide smile spreading across his face that showed off his missing tooth. “And my legs are fine, I think.” He used his free hand to grab onto Dipper’s hand and loudly added on, “Now lead the way, old man!”
Dipper sighed and squeezed onto Stanley’s hand, gently guiding him through the woods back to the Shack, never forgetting the route home even after all these years.
The twins were parallels of each other as they walked. Mabel was clinging onto her brother’s arm and leaning her head against his shoulder while Stanford was doing the same with his brother. The air was so tense and gloomy around the four, affecting all but Stanley.
Stanley was looking around the woods as they walked, his brown eyes full of innocent wonder as he mumbled under his breath about ‘Never seeing trees this big’.
When they made it back to the Shack Dipper could only wince at the state it was in. It was falling apart and damaged from the battle during Weirdmageddon, the damage unable to be reversed even after the apocalypse had ended.
“The Shack…” Mabel sadly lamented under her breath, the sight of the place she spent 30 years making into a home and business just adding onto her already overwhelming amount of sadness.
Dipper was about to try and comfort her when he noticed 3 figures standing in front of the shack. After a moment the three started to sprint towards the family, frames becoming clearer as they got closer.
It was Anjelita, Boyish Dan, and Fiddleford.
“Are you guys alright?!” Boyish Dan loudly asked with his booming voice before he even reached the family. Anjelita was silently but swiftly following behind him, her hand gripping her Abuelo’s cap so it wouldn't fly off her head and her eyes filled with concern. Fiddleford was tripping over his feet from how fast he was sprinting, Dipper was mildly concerned the accident prone teen was going to trip over a branch or rock and slam face first against the ground.
He didn’t trip, thankfully. The small blond teen stumbled to a stop in front of the family, specifically the younger set of twins, panting heavily. “Thank the lord y’all are alright! I thought y'all had gotten trapped under somethin’ or hurt or worse!” Fiddleford anxiously rambled on, clearly having thrown himself into a tizzy over his friend's safety.
Stanley’s brows furrowed at the new faces, especially the long nosed southern one right in front of him. He raised an eyebrow and looked over the blond with an untrusting gaze. “…You’re not going to hug me and cry too, are you?”
Fiddleford looked bewildered at the question, blinking in confusion as he asked, “Now why on’ earth would I do that?”
Before Stanley or someone else in the family could reply, Anjelita spoke up from beside Boyish Dan. “His memory was erased, correct?”
The family, minus Stanley, flinched at the question.
Anjelita was a very observant young lady, so it makes sense she would be the first to notice.
Fiddleford and Boyish Dan kinda tensed up at the question. They also saw what happened while they were trapped in the tapestries, but they had hoped that maybe…
“That really stuck? He doesn’t remember anything?” Boyish Dan questioned.
“Nothin’ at all?” Fiddleford softly added.
Dipper wordless shook his head and a solemn silence covered them all.
The three followed the family into the dilapidated Mystery Shack, everyone looking over the cracks and debris with melancholy and sadness on their faces. Well, all but Stanley.
Stanley excitedly jumped up as they all entered the run down living room. “Wow, nice place you have here!” The brunet ripped away from Stanford and Dipper’s grasp, the suddenness making Stanford weakly try and latch back onto his brother for just a moment before giving up and wrapping his arms around his stomach. The boy then ran full speed at the dusty recliner. Stan always loved that chair would steal it from Mabel whenever he had a chance.
He jumped onto the seat and laughed as he bounced a little before settling down. “Lovin’ this chair! I just sink into this thing!”
He opened his brown eyes and saw everyone standing at the edges of the room, the miserable air of sadness weighing so heavy on the room he could feel it pressing against his skull. Stanley limply leaned back in the chair, a faint look of annoyance on his face as he bluntly questioned, “Geez, am I at a funeral? Who died and turned you all into sad sacks.”
No one answered.
Fiddleford turned to the group, going to lift his finger to bite on it only to stop himself when he realized he was doing it. Instead the blond lifted up his chewlery necklace and began to bite on it instead, his nerves shot as he desperately asked, “Surely there must be ah’ way to reverse this!”
“No, there isn’t.” Stanford replied, not even bothering to look up from the floor, looking extremely tired and downright miserable as he hugged his jacket closer.
Fiddleford whips around to Stanford, exasperation and agitation clear on his face as he yells back, “There's gotta’ be!”
Dipper softly sighed, defeat dripping from his voice as he gently replied. “I’m sorry, Fiddleford. There isn’t anything we can do for Stanley. No one can come back from something like this.”
Anjelita perks up from the besides Boyish Dan, counteracting Dipper’s statement with a simple, “Miss Candy.”
“W-What?” Dipper questioned, blinking up at her in confusion.
The large red-headed teen jolted and jumped up at the reminder.
“That’s right! Kooky Candy got her memories back during that whole weird secret society adventure!”
Fiddleford looked up at Dipper with hope and desperation in his green eyes, hands trembling from the reminder of that awful day and his shot nerves. “Y-Yeah! An’ Miss Candy’s mind was cracked ‘cause of tha’ memory gun!”
The blond points to Stanley sitting on the recliner, the confused brunet just staring at the group with furrowed brows, not taking in anything that they’re saying. “Lee still gotta’ chance!”
Dipper is quiet for a moment, brain running a mile a minute. When he finally speaks up again his voice is low and unsure.
“… I’m not going to say it's going to work,”
His eyes meet his sister’s, her sad brown eyes filled with a glimmer of hope at the thought of being able to save her little firecracker.
“But I’m not going to say it’s impossible either.”
He racked his brain once more, trying to think of a solution, an answer that has a high probability of working.
“…Maybe if we had something that could jog his memory-”
Mabel suddenly gasped, eyes wide as she squeezes Dipper’s arm, her grip tight. “My scrapbook!”
She then quickly rushes to a desk near the table, glitter and shimmering pieces of paper fluttering out as her hands rummaged in one of the drawers. She let out a loud ‘Aha!’ And pulled out a pink and very sparkly scrapbook.
“It’s not going to work.” Stanford bluntly mumbled, defeat and sorrow clinging to his small frames.
“Not with that attitude!” The old woman quickly shoots back, not letting anything snuff out her freshly burning glimmer of hope in her chest.
She quickly ran back over to Stanley, the rest of the group, minus Stanford, following suit. She placed the glimmering book onto the confused child’s lap, the front labeled ‘Summer of 2012’ in sparkly glitter pen.
“I’ve been working on this book since the day you two arrived!” Mabel offhandedly explained while opening it to the first page. Pasted in the middle of that page was a cute photo of Stanley and Stanford unpacking their bags. Stan was making a silly face at the camera while Ford had not realized the photo was being taken, too busy hanging up his Nikola Tesla poster with a concentrated face. Stickers and other miscellaneous crafting objects were glued to the page. “Here’s the first day you two arrived!” She then pointed at about 4 to 6 small pieces of wood taped to the page. “And those are the splinters you got stuck in your hand when trying to unpack!”
Stanley furrowed his brow at that, very confused on why she would keep something like that but not having a chance to ask before she pointed to the next thing.
The next photo on the page was Stanford and Stanley looking a tiny bit scratched up and tired. Ford was looking away from the camera and into the inner pocket of his jacket, excitement shining in his eyes as he stared at the journal he had found in the woods that day that was poking out of his jacket ever so slightly. Stanley was also excited but for a very different reason. His eyes were wide with excitement, his equally wide smile showing off the space in his teeth where his tooth was knocked out. The missing tooth was being held very close to the camera, still covered in small flecks of blood.
“And here’s you losing your tooth the very next day!”
Next to the photo was also a small tooth taped onto the paper, assumedly Stanley’s baby tooth that was knocked out. He especially wanted to ask why she had scrapbooked that but was once again cut off, no one except him finding this old woman strange in the slightest.
Fiddleford had leaned over and flipped the page. On the page was a photo of Fiddleford, Stanley, and Stanford all huddled together on one of the boy’s beds, all of them wearing pajamas. Stanford and Stanley seemed to both be talking at the same time, talking over each other while Fiddleford looked a little nervous and overwhelmed, but a smile very clearly seen on his face as he was squished between the twins.
“Tha’s the first time I spent tha’ night after we ‘came friends! After I, uh, ya’ know, tried to kill ya’ with a giant robit-”
Boyish Dan pointed at the next page. The twins were wearing 70s themed dancing clothes, disco lights shining on the two as they stood alone on a dance floor. The boys were covered in punch but still smiling while sideways hugging. Stanford in particular looked a little tired and had a bruise or two.
“Your guy’s 13th birthday party? A bunch of power hungry Ford clones causing so much trouble we pulled the fire alarm and set off the sprinklers?
He then pointed at two carnival tickets taped onto the page next to a photo of Boyish Dan’s grappling both of the twins under his arms and lifting them high into the air, standing in front of a carnival as the warm afternoon light washed over them. Dan was laughing maniacally while Ford looked shocked, grabbing onto Dan’s large arm looking at the ground nervously, as if he was afraid of being dropped. Stanley also looked shocked but not in the same way Stanford did. Stan’s face was bright red and he looked like he was trying to laugh off being picked up so suddenly.
“How about the carnival? You tried that ‘test your strength’ game while Ford did that ‘guess how many jellybeans are in this jar’ game and both failed at them?”
Anjelita softly spoke up next to Boyish Dan as he turned the page. A picture of Stanley all dressed up was pasted onto the page. He was wearing a black suit, a red fez with the same symbol that’s on his sweater Mabel made him, an eye patch, and an 8-Ball cane. He had his eye patch flipped up and was winking at the camera, fully showing off his showman persona. Next to that photo was another one, this time depicting Stanley and Stanford sitting in a booth with Anjelita and her grandparents. Stanley and Anjelita’s Abuelo, Soos, were scarfing down a pizza slice as fast as they could, assumedly in a race to see who could eat it faster. Stanford was looking at his brother with mild disgust and concern while Anjelita’s Abuela, Melody, was excitedly cheering on her husband. Anjelita was sitting at the table leaning her chin on her hand, a soft amused smile on her lips.
“The time you were the boss of the Mystery Shack for a day? The arcade with the killer robots?”
Dipper had his hand on Mabel’s shoulder, carefully questioning, “Is any of this ringing a bell? Anything at all?”
Everyone, minus Stanford, were crowding Stanley, all in his personal space and making the dazed child even more confused. On edge and gripping the scrapbook tightly, furrowed brown eyes completely void of familiarity as he looked over the group.
“Look, I’m sorry,” Stanley began, quickly looking down as he slammed the scrapbook closed. “But none of this is making any sense to me! You keep talking to me like I know who you are, but I don’t!”
The hope in the group died at Stanley’s outburst, all of their enthusiasm fading and disappearing entirely in record time.
“Told you.” Stanford softly mumbled from the other side of the room, despondent and hugging himself tight while leaning against the wall, utter exhaustion seeping into his bones.
Stanley shifted uncomfortably in the recliner, that bubbling sense of guilt building in his stomach and his chest once again at the sight. He doesn’t even know these people but he doesn’t want to see them upset. Guess he really is a bleeding heart. He’s learning something new about himself every second.
The brunet sighed, idly rubbing his round cheeks as he quietly added on, his voice much softer than before, “Look… I’m sorry I don’t remember… I really am…”
“It’s alright Stanley, it’s not your fault.” Dipper gently replied, unaware of the way Stanford flinched at those words behind him.
There was a depressing and strained silence hanging over the group afterwards, no one really knowing what else to say after their hopeful attempt was proven to be pointless.
Then all of a sudden hot air and a snorting noise tickled Stanley’s left ear.
The kid whirled his head at the noise only to come face to face with a big old pig with a collar around its neck, along with a name tag that Stanley couldn’t read from where he was sitting. The two just stare at each other for a couple seconds, blank stare to blank stare, until it was finally broken by the pig hopping up and getting closer to Stanley, trying to chew on his brown curls.
Stanley squealed with surprise and tried to push the massive pig away, Mabel weakly laughing on her knees at the antics, her mind flashing to all the times Waddles has lovingly bothered her great-nephew the entire time he’s been here. She was about to tell her beloved pet to stop messing with Stanley when the kid beat her to the punch.
“Augh! Waddles! How many times have I told you to stop trying to eat my hair!”
Everyone froze, even Stanford’s head whirled over at Stanley’s words.
“…What did he say?” Ford asked, his voice laced in disbelief.
Stanford initially didn’t want to think there was a chance for Stanley to remember, figuring that this was going to be his punishment. Forever mourning someone who’s not even dead, someone he all but killed. But when Stanley spoke Waddles name, something he shouldn’t remember, felt that little ball of hope he’s been trying so hard to suppress in his chest reemerge.
Now Waddles was trying to lick Stanley’s cheek, making the boy squeal even more.
“I said get Waddles off me, Sixer!”
A small breathless laugh left Dipper’s throat as ran his hands through his silver curls, a hopeful disbelief in his eyes. “…It’s working.”
Stanford suddenly sprinted up to the group, grabbing onto his Great-Aunt’s arm from where she’s kneeling in front of Stanley and holding her scrapbook. “Keep reading, Grauntie Mabel.” His gaze serious, but his voice a soft plea.
Mabel had to quickly blink a couple times and bring herself back to reality, adrenaline beginning to pump in her veins at the prospect that this was working. She jumped to her feet, not even wavering as her knees creaked at the sudden movement, and called out to everyone in the room, “Story time!”
She grabbed onto Stanley, that classic Mabel smile was back on her face as she easily lifted him up and sat down where he was sitting on the recliner, pulling the frazzled boy onto her lap. She reached out and yanked Dipper to her as well, making him sit right next to her on the recliner. It was a bit of a tight squeeze but thankfully the two twins had always been on the lankier side so they made it work.
Dipper held his hand out to Stanford, helping him up and pulling him onto his lap, paralleling his sister next to him. Stanford’s immediately pressed against Stanley’s side, polydactyl hand instinctively slipping into his and squeezing like his life depended on it.
Boyish Dan and Anjelita leaned more on the farther back sides of the recliner while Fiddleford jumped up and sat on the armrest closest to Mabel, the blond pressing himself against Stanley’s other side.
Stanley was now completely surrounded once again, being hugged and squeezed and picked up by these strangers. However this time he didn’t get annoyed or uncomfortable at the attention. Instead there was this familiar warmth in his chest, like he was always meant to be held like this. He can’t really describe what caused that shift.
Maybe these guys are right, maybe he is remembering.
Stan allows himself to relax in the arms of the older woman and against the two kids pressing against either side of him, a small smile growing on his face.
“Okay okay,” Mabel began, flipping back to the first page of the scrapbook. “It all started when I got a call from my dearest older brother asking me to watch my sweet darling great-nephews for the summer, and how could I say no to having my precious little nephews all to myself for 3 months!”
Mabel began to go over every picture and every memento in the scrapbook, everyone else pitching in and adding their own commentary or laughing every once and a while, a smile on everyone’s face.
Except for Stanford.
Stanford was looking intensely at his twin, waiting anxiously for the moment Stanley finally remembered him.
A part of him was excited, the other was dreading it.
The moment his brother remembers what happened, what Ford did to him, their bond is going to completely shatter and Stanley is going to want nothing to do with him anymore. No more late night talks, no more covering for each other, no more getting into trouble. Stanford wouldn’t be surprised if Stanley wanted to cut him out of his life completely after this after what he did. Stanford wouldn’t even blame him. He deserves it after all.
Then he saw it and his heart stopped in his chest.
Stanley rapidly blinked for a second, a familiar shine in his brown eyes as he turned to look at Stanford, recognition and understanding in his stare for the first time since the end of Weirdmageddon.
The two stared silently as Mabel continued to talk, everyone’s words muffling into background noise.
Stanford wasn’t going to beg for forgiveness. His eyes weren’t filled with sorrow or guilt. They were steady, completely prepared for anything Stanley threw at him, knowing whatever it was he deserved it.
Stanley’s eyes were filled with that familiar shine but no emotion showed on his face as his stare bore into his twin, completely silent as the two eyes stayed locked.
Then Stanley did something Stanford wasn’t expecting. His brown eyes softened, a smile on his face as he got closer and leaned his head onto Stanford’s shoulder, his thumb rubbing over his twin’s polydactyl knuckles the same way their mother would do whenever she tried to calm them down when they were much smaller.
Stanford was tense, completely frozen. He was expecting yelling, punching, blaming, or even something as simple as wordlessly pulling his hand away, but he wasn’t expecting forgiveness.
He didn't deserve this. Stanley should hate his guts. Despise him and push him away just like Stanford was doing most of the summer.
Ford’s body didn’t untense, but he did slowly rest his head on top of Stan’s, squeezing his brother's hand as if it was his life line, his thoughts swirling in his mind like a hurricane.
He didn’t deserve Stanley’s forgiveness.
Or was it pity?
It must be pity.
It has to be.
Mabel was still speaking as she leaned down and rested her chin onto Stanley, Dipper doing the same with Stanford. A warm fuzzy feeling enveloped everyone in the room. Everyone but Stanford, who instead felt a sickening feeling of guilt deep in his chest.
Stanford didn’t deserve this. This kindness.
So he swore right then and there that he was going to spend the rest of his life atoning for what he did, staying by his twin’s side to make sure nothing would never, ever, hurt his brother ever again.
Or until the day Stanley wises up and realizes that Stanford wasn’t worth his pity, that he’s too good to have a coward like him for a brother.
Whatever came first.
🌻🌱🌤️~~~~~~~~~~~~🌦️🛡️🥀
Hope you liked it!! It was fun to write when my thumbs weren’t hurting from typing on my phone for 6 hours straight lmao 💥💥💥

୨⎯”STANLEY PINES DATING HEADCANONS”⎯୧
Tumblr media
He would call you nicknames like 'sweet cheeks' 'sugar pie' 'honey crackers' 'hot stuff'
When you ever feel like you're in your lowest moments this man doesn't know what to do to comfort you BUT he will try his very best to cheer you up. In the Book of Bill, his life has been in his lowest moments and there was no one to comfort him except for his mom, Jimmy Snakes (probably) and Stanford. Taking you to dinner (his treat ofc but only because he hates seeing you all depressed) go fishing and getting a free souvenir from his Mystery Shack.
This man is STRONG, never doubt his strength, he can punch, kick, and punch again. All his fats are his muscles so if you ever have anything heavy to carry just let him do it or if you got a sprained ankle because of your clumsiness, expect this man to insult you first before carrying you like you weigh nothing, ok he might struggle BUT JUST FOR A LITTLE BIT.
Needs constant reassurance, this man has always been looked down and stepped on in his whole life only for himself to stand up again without anyone's help. If you happen to get in a relationship with him, he will ask and look at you for support and words for him to keep going. He can get a bit dependent on you but not always, he knows how to stand up for himself after decades of insults from others and your praise may seem skeptical for him but knew better than to trust your words.
This man cannot read without his glasses, if you see him without his glasses and he's trying to read something on his news paper or watching TV, you can see him squinting his eyes in a verge of closing them.
If someone harasses you or talks bad about you, this man will definitely talk shit to someone and punch them so hard they will end up in the hospital.
He's prideful and won't back down to any teasing you call him (in a playful manner) but when it's serious moments, he'll have a hard time expressing his feelings because it always turns to anger or walking out but when he does something wrong, it'll take him a few minutes to apologize because he was never one to apologize or people would just ignore his apology.
Stanley isn't a fan of those cheesy romantic things like, giving flowers, chocolates, writing poems and stuff like that. Unless it's valentine's day or your birthday, he'll ask Mabel and Dipper for help on how to greet you, set you up with him. Just because he's not that type of man doesn't mean he's not showing his love and affection for you.
When you're not around, he would fr brag you to anyone 'Have you seen Y/N? well, bad luck for you buddy, you literally missed a sight for sore eyes. Which happens to be my significant other!' and then he would laugh at the child or 'Look here buddy, Y/N is someone who's very passionate on anything they do, I mean look at them! don't you feel the raging flames of passion they're putting there?' he pointed the direction where you stood and then it's just you arguing with a karen in the grocery store while he grins lazily as he sips his soda 'Yup, very passionate'
When you two got into an argument and didn't end well, he would stay up all night thinking about it, tossing and turning on the bed with a groan. He will apologize but it's messy because he doesn't know how or it's too hard for him to do say it. "Look, I made a mistake and I... I know what I did was wrong and I just wanna say..." long pause "...m'sorry..." in the most quiet yet audible apology you'll ever hear but if that didn't budge you he'll try even more "Ok! ok! I really... am! I'm sorry, ok? what I did to you was wrong, I'll give you space if you need it and... I'm sorry, again, really" but you can't stay mad at him for long so you forgive him in an instant.
Overall, a patient and understanding partner is what he needs perhaps someone who has the same ego as him would be fun, an adventurous partner would be his cup of coffee since he is the most wanted criminal in America, you two would be partners in crime >:)
A/N: hope y'all like it, might be ooc of Stanley Pines

what's your favorite post-canon myster twins headcanon
no idea who the myster twins are (😉) but the MYSTERY twins hell fucking yeah dude. i'm somewhat familiar i guess. whatever.
it's not gonna surprise any of my moots or anyone who reads my stuff, but codependent!twins is my favorite.
the unspoken understanding when one of them wakes up in the middle of the night. the time it takes for them to get comfortable letting the other one go anywhere by themselves (the last time they did that, the world ended. never again. they'll just always go everywhere together forever. that's healthy, right?).
being homesick for gravity falls while they're back in piedmont.
not recognizing themselves in the mirror or photos from prior to the summer. deciding that maybe they like the new versions better, even if they have fondness and affection for the old ones.
reaching for wrists and sweater sleeves.
jokes no one else understands.
more mystery hunts.
scars you can see. scars you can't.
a newfound confidence in themselves because, despite everything, they survived, triangles be damned.
mabel carries her grappling hook in her backpack and doodles on her wrists. she picks at her scabs until they bleed. she cuts her hair shorter and smiles wider through gritted teeth. hopeful at all costs. when she laughs, it's loud. when she cries, it's all at once and messy and gross. not cute, she tells dipper. distinctly not cute.
dipper has fear. so much fear. all the time. locks arms with mabel. locks pinkies with mabel. feels safer with mabel. he comes home stronger, too, though—physically and otherwise. he spent three days alone in the apocalypse. he saved his sister. he won't let anything bad happen to her ever again. he's stubborn and determined and pushes the fear down and steps on it and punches it. he will go forward.
the adults in piedmont don't love this codependency. they're concerned for them, maybe rightfully so.
but then again, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks anymore, does it?

Thinking of your prism pines au and the powers the pine twins would have.
lest start with the powers the both have. Going 2d to 3d, bill’s deal powers, gravity manipulation, dream hopping/manipulation, minor mind reading, and perceive the fourth dimension (due to bills ability to perceive and interact the third dimension).
DIPPER
I think dipper would have logic and paranoia base powers. Thus being able to interact slightly with the with higher dimensions(like fourth dimension), change item dimensional plane, saw someone suggest site time manipulation in the gaslit au and I like it. Thinking about it I think his powers would be more driving people insane and encouraging paranoia.
MABEL
Mabel’s has creation based powers. Crating things out of thin air, changing how things fit together (moving body parts around), having an easier time with dreamchopping/manipulation, stronger mind reading, and minor mental influence on people emotions.
I think it will be a lot of overlap of how they show up but different roots. (like ADHD and autism symptoms)
OHHH! I really like these!
Dipper spiraling into mysteries and unknowingly infecting people around him into paranoia.
Mabel unknowingly affecting peoples emotions when she's around them, and then when she realizes freaking out and worrying how mcuh she's been affecting people.

TLDR
Okay I cannot believe I'm about to go off like this, but this has been bothering me for awhile, and it's only making me more spiteful. I have been enjoying the influx of Billford art lately. Amazing, great wonderful. What I have Not been enjoying, is the absolute vitriol the Billdip fans have been getting since the influx of TBOB. I was a billdip shipper for awhile. Hell I was a billdip shipper when I was a Parapines shipper-- I liked shipping Dipper with boys. I was also like 14 or 15 at the time. Obviously, if you follow me now, you'll probably notice what my main ship for Dipper is. I grew out of Billdip, and moved on to Pinescone. I have been shipping Pinescone for 10 years. However, not once did I go around saying "Lol, glad I matured and became a better person and shipped something healthier", nor did I post in the billdip tag, condeming people for a fictional ship! And saying mine was better because it was less problematic.
"I'm really glad people stopped shipping Bill and Dipper together. Bill is a 1000 year old triangle demon, and Dipper is 13--" Stop. Repeat what you just said.
"Bill is 1000 year old triangle--"
Repeat that last word to me. "....triangle?" TRIANGLE! I'm sorry what?! This ship is already completely wild enough. You're getting mad at this fictional age gap-- AND BILL IS A FUCKING SHAPE! A FUCKING SHAPE! This ship was weird from the moment GO! And Billford isn't any better. IT'S STILL A SHIP WITH A FUCKING SHAPE! And you're going to sit on your high horse and look down on the Billdip community. On top of it-- they have an age gap too! Bill is still thousands of years old or whatever-- however long it's been, who knows? And Ford was in his 20s or so when he met Bill. That's still a huge, ridiculous age gap-- that Bill could easily use and manipulate; which he did....and then also caught feelings and became a sad ex, but that's beside the point~ Both of these ships are still insane. And again, the bigger thing I think people are just ignoring about these ships--is that Bill is a TRIANGLE! THREE LINES CONNECTED TOGETHER! And this is the hill you're going to die on? ...Cause apparently it's mine. First of all-- as many people pointed out-- Ford Pines did not exist until the second half of the final season. People couldn't ship Fordbill because there wasn't any Ford to introduce.
"Well, even before Ford, I never shipped Billdip! I always disliked it." ...Okay, that's totally fine. Not everyone needs to like or agree on the same ship. Lord knows there's probably people who don't really care for Pinescone either. There's a lot of popular ships that I can't stand. But I'm don't go into a ship tag I don't like, screaming to a void for self validation. I don't go around mocking other people for ships that they had in 2014-- or even still today! It doesn't matter! I did that when I was a kid-- and then realized that was rude, and it was better to just ignore the ships I didn't like and enjoy the ones that made me happy. And grow a community of kind, like minded friends. And listen, I am all for safe spaces and being able to block things that make you uncomfortable. I am not saying people who find the BillDip ship uncomfortable to be idiots or babies or overly sensitive-- or anything like that. I think if something makes you uncomfortable, that is okay and I think it's perfectly fine to blacklist a tag that you don't want to see. I also think it's imperative that people tag things as accurately as they can so people looking at your work can know if one of your pieces has a thing that they don't like-- and therefore can avoid. What I don't appreciate is the fanhate for this ship that is sprouting up like weeds. You can not like something, you can be disgusted by it (I have my Gravity Falls ships I can not stand, nor do I feel comfortable with), but attacking real people for a FICTIONAL SHIP-- two characters who are drawings on a piece of paper and can not be affected mentally, physically or emotionally by fanwork; who still retain the same shape after everything we put them through-- to the point that you send death threats, or threaten to Doxx, or just harass relentlessly, I have always found that more childish and disgusting. You are causing real world pain to people. Me fucking up Dipper Pines is not going to do anything to him-- because he doesn't actually exist. He's a cartoon character. I could squash him and stretch him in Wonka's taffy machine--- I could throw him mock speed at a wall and watch him explode on impact-- but he still exists. He's not dead; I can pick him up and dust him off, and If I wanted-- I could decide that eh, 'Not a scratch on him'. And I'd be right. Because he is a cartoon character, and I am just a fangirl. I can not change anything about him-- I have no ability to make anything I headcanon canon. And even if I was the original artist-- it doesn't change the fact that Dipper would still be nothing more than a creation. A construct of shapes; he can not be hurt or traumatized in a way that leads to real life consequences-- because he is not real. I am not a cartoon character. My friends are not cartoon characters. Artist and Writers who stay in their lane...are not cartoon characters. If you hurt us...it will linger. It will leave a scar. If you can not tell the difference between Fiction and Reality, then I think maybe media might be too much to handle-- and I think you need to really reevaluate yourself.
And just to vent some other things that i keep seeing that are frustrating: You can't claim the twins are only 13-- and then on August 31st go "Happy 20-something Birthday Mabel and Dipper!" And then proceed to drop a picture of them as adults. Well which is it? Do they age or not? Because Gravity Falls showed them canonically aging. If you think the twins age-- then you can't suddenly turn around and go, 'no you can't ship them-- Dipper is a child!' but you drew him as an adult. So sorry, it looks like you can't draw the twins grown up anymore. You claimed they're 13, so better draw them 13 forever--. Aged up stories and works exist for a reason, especially for a fan who grew up on the series. The characters might have grown up alongside them. It's not unlikely for a person to ship Billdip when Dipper is much older.
And on that note, for people who are like 'well older billdip is fine-- it's just people shipping him during the show that deserve to die.' Okay... and like I said, this rant is coming from a recent influx of Billford shippers spitting on Billdip shippers. You know? The TOXIC Old Man Yaoi!
You're still shipping something that is problematic. You are still shipping something twisted and wrong. And I am not judging you. I am here for this divorced arc. I am thriving. But you can't just pick and choose what is and isn't okay. And let me first off explain; if there is something that personally triggers you about a toxic ship, and you want to avoid that-- again, perfectly understandable. Perfectly reasonable. You are the makers of your content space. And I am not judging anyone for that. I want people to be safe. I want people to have a good time in fandom spaces. I want people to not have to deal with the things that upset them or frighten them, or disgust them. But you can not say one is fine, and one is not. They're both bad! They're both toxic. In real life, these ships would both be charged with serious crimes! And yes, there are some crimes that are worse than others, and if you asked me what I thought was more problematic-- I'd say Billdip-- but both of these ships are extreme, and severe in their problematic content. You are still consuming problematic content. If it's a personal thing, that's fine; avoid it. But don't sit there throwing stones from your glass house.

IDEAS FOR FICS PART 1 [FIDDLESTAN]
-> #Free ideas to use (to find more similar things for fics)
Fiddlestan idea, where Stanley and Fiddleford work together to fix the and bring Stanford back.
During this time they come closer to each other and while feeling like mess they both help each other fix some things.
They both are basically a walking mess with Trauma.
Stanley helps Fiddleford during his panic attacks and calms him down when needed. Stan gives him attention and always listenes about his problems (the divorce and difficul situation with his son. Stanley also helps Fids with quiting his addiction (the memorygun).
Fiddleford made Stan aware that he isn't a worse copy of Stanford. He tells him that he is loved and once Stan opens up to him. Fidds explains how fucked up Stan's whole situation was. Moreover he shows affection to such a touch-starved person that Stanley was at that moment.
Stan and Fiddleford get closer to each other during their bonding time, until they fall for each other and form a relationship.
[They smoke together, go out and Fidds even started teaching Stan playing banjo (with difficulties but still)]
For years they try to open the portal once again, but without the other journals this seems almost impossible. [Just a reminder that the whole portal thing was Bill's idea and he gave Stanford the project. In conclution very HARD TO DO]
And then years later Dipper and Mabel show up..!
Fiddleford and Stanley are in relationship for 30 years. They basically are the "old married couple" But historians will say that they are just 'roommates'.
Mabel basically can smell the romance from distance, while Dipper is ignorant/unaware until someone pointed out this to him.
Stanley & Fidds even have matching earings!
[Also Fidds likes to call Stan Darlin', Hun and Stan calls Fidds Cowboy eventually That's My Cowboy! When noone is around]
Fidds never went crazy or anything. He even repaired his relationship with son! Yes, he might have still got some brain damage from using the gun in the past. (So from time to time he can be forgetfull) But he is better now!
When Stanford comes back there is also a lot of mess. Ford punches Stan and Fidds is right behind him to help him. Stanford is mostly confused by everything that at first he doesn't even notice that Fiddleford and Stanley are in a relationship.(He's just as blind as Dipper)
There is some arguing and Fiddleford is pretty much pissed at Ford for being ungratefull.
Once he overheard Stanford "talk" to Stan that "at the end of this summer you give me back my identyti, my house and this all mystery shack is over"
And he confronted Ford immediately yelling at him that "the world doesn't go around him" And he had no idea how much sacrificed for him and how both of them suffered. (After that 'conversation' I think that Ford finally sensed that something was going on between Fidd and Stanley]
Shortly after Fidd "talked" with Ford, he immiediately went to Stanley, assuring him that everything is gonna be alright and they are both in this together. That he is NOT alone.
[I feel like everyone saw at least once that time of fiddlestan au in art or something BUT-]
LET'S FINALLY GET TO THE MAIN POINT!!!
In this au everything goes similar to the canon, so Weirdmagedon still happened. Everything happened in a similar way and in the end Stanley saved the town. (Pls no jokes)
Ford had to erase his memories, with the memory gun. The weapon that Fiddleford once created and almost ruined his life. And now it erased the mind of the man he loved.
Fidds after realised what happened he was devastated.
He was furious at Ford's action, even though it was the only way to save everyone.
He was heartbroken seeing the man he loves not recognising him. As if there was noone on the other side.
The guilt was eating him alive, knowing well that HE created the gun that took away his love of life.
And after learning that it was Stanley's plan to use the memory gun on himself and not Ford's.. Fiddleford was basically tearing up.
Seeing Stan's lack of reaction after waking up and seeing his 'loved ones' and not recognising them was heart-breaking. Stanley didn't seem to remember neither his nephews nor brother or even him.
When Stan looks at him. There is nothing.
It hurts to look at the man you love. You can't help, but see that he doesn't see you the same way or even recognise you. That there is nothing beside the lost gaze and lack of connection. No smiles, no love. Just confusion.
And even though the Stanley he once know was 'erased', Fiddleford takes a deep breath and with clear sadness in voice says:
"He was there for me when my mind was falling apart and now I'm gonna take care of him." And then hugs gently confused Stan.
I belive that it would take more time for them to bring Stan's memories back. (But that's up to you how you want it)
I imagine that there would be a lot more trouble with gaining back memory for Stan. Like maybe very slowly.
Their first attempts would be unsuccessfully. No improvement. Staley doesn't remmeber anything about his live. Fotos are blank for him. He even misstooks his photo with children, thinking that on the picture is Ford and not him.
"I'm sorry, I- I really don't remmeber any of this.." Stanley said, while holding the photo album.
Everyone would be devastated. Soos, Ford, twins and Fiddleford.
But suprisingly, Fiddleford would be the one who would 'seem' to be the calmest of all of them at least on the surface. He spends a lot of time with Stanley, not necessary trying to restor Stan's memory, but geniuently spend some pleasant time together.
But deeply inside Fidds is actually really strugling. Just instead of thinking about the pain, he tries to focus on helping Stanley. He had a first hand experience with memory issues and he doesn't want Stan to suffer the same.
He also tries make Stanley feel as comfortable as possible in the New situation, while trying to bond.
They drink coffee, they watch tv, they talk. Maybe not necessary about his past.. (Stanley feels pressured, every time someone tries to recall his memories without any results) So with Fidds, he feels more relaxed.
Stanley generally feels around Fiddleford most comfortable. (He doesn't feel any obligation) And he genuelly likes him and EVEN MORE he starts to like him to the point that he's questioning himself.
Stanley: I think, I might have a crush on Fidds..?
Mabel geniuently touched that even after loosing memories the true love still remained around around them, but also jealous due to the fact that he still doesn't recall her : ...
Mabel: He's literally your husband.
Stanley: He is?? I mean- But I don't even know him..?
[Sometimes someone needs to remind Stanley that he's married to Fidds. He forgets it often, since it sounds so unrealistic for him]
Also, when Stan starts 'crushing' on Fidds, Fiddleford is very aware of it.
He immiediately catches up on simple signals like
- Random nervousness
- Playing with hands
- Unnecesarry jokes at wrong time
Just the same behaviour as from 30 years ago, when Stanley started catching feelings for him. [It makes him happy to see this once again]
Fiddleford pretends that he doesn't know. He doesn't want Stan to freak out or something.
And it goes like this..
They spend some time. Twins still try to regain Stan's memory in any way possible. Ford feels helpless. And during this time they are rebuiling the mystery shack.. (because they need a place to sleep, am I right?)
Until one day..
Fiddleford was sitting outside, taking a break from repairing the shack. All of this still seamed unrealistic for him.
He was alone.
He needed to be alone.
He felt as everything was falling apart with him all together.. He just needed some time alone. If he was about to have a breakdown, he didn't want to anyone see it.
Not Ford, not kids and especially not Stanley.
He just needed to f̸̯̞̤̻̬̯̣͙͉̿̑̾͌ͅo̶̧̅r̵̫̹̟̱̖̺̝̐̾͌̄͋̈́͜͠ḡ̴̹̰̘̫͍͇̜͜ę̵̞̯̗̺̗͙̈́͑̀̓̓̆͠t̸̡̛̞̭̪͖̬̱̮͋́̋͝ chill a little-
Then as the man sighed, he saw in the corner of his eye his lying banjo. He hadn't played in a while.. It was his firt though.
So without overthinking, the man took his instrument and started playing some random nutes. After all music always calmed him down a little.
Before he could even notice, nutes turned into melody, into songs he once used to play often during this summer and not only..
It was like this until a familiar face arrived.
"Huh, I like this melody." Stanley said with a small smile, looking directly at his instrument.
Fiddleford looked at his partner, slightly confused and shocked by his arrival. Something made him stop playing, as he realised that what he was playing they both used to love.
They used to play it regulary.
So there was no suprise, that Fiddleford hoped that maybe just maybe would be some kind of recognision. Unfortunately as soon as he met Stan's clueless eyes, he knew the answer.
"Really?" But instead of shoving his dissapointment, Fidds just asked him kindly.
"It's nice." He said as he sat next to the man with a banjo. "Keep going." Stanley encouraged him and how was he supposed to say no?
So he played. Just to see more smile on his face. Just to act as if this was normal. As they used to do.
After a while he noticed, how the other man started staring at his instrument. Fidds saw the curiousity in his eyes, and how paid attention to his movement.
Then he paused to Stans shock.
"Wanna try?" He offered with a gentel smile.
"Try?" Stan sounded suprised. "Nah, I'm gonna break this little thing." He said unsurely. "These hands are pretty clumsy recently." He joked.
"Break it? Such nonsense." Fidd chuckled with a smile and placed the banjo in Stanleys hands. "The least could happen is for one of the string to break. Don't worry."
Despite his first protest in the end Stan looked at the instrument and took it in his hands gently.
Then the man ran his hand over the instrument and all the strings rang.
"Nice." He commented. "How do you start?" Stanley asked and it took Ford a second to realise what he was asking for.
"You start with this one." He answered shortly, pointing at one of the strings. "You know.. you won't be able to play the same song at first try, it takes-"
Fiddleford was interrupted, as Stan started playing. To his suprise it wasn't any kind of weird noises by pulling random strings. No, nothing like that.
It didn't even seem as his first try, when they were young and Fiddleford started teaching Stan playing on banjo.
It was the same melody he played just a second ago.
And it wasn't just a mare try.
He did it perfectly. Just as if he knew this song.
As if he knew how to play it.
As if he remembered it.
And it didn't seem as if he was putting in this any kind of effort.
Stanley just played.
And he seemed so happy and relaxed, until he finished and the realisation hit him hard.
"How.. how did you do this?" Fidds asked first.
"I.." Stan started just as confused as he was. "I don't know." He admited trufully. "My hands were just moving on its own." He tried to explain, but seemed just as lost as him. "I didn't- I didn't think what I was doing. It just happened." He finished, looking directly at Fiddleford very confused, as if looking for the answer.
Fidds confused as him, tried not to give himself unrealistic hopes.
When it came to Amnesia it rarely affected motor skills, according to the researches. Just like walking or ridding a bike. So that would explain this 'phenomen'.
He did it instinctively.
"I teached you this one." In the end Fidds decided to be trufully. "We played it lots of times, until you didn't need the sheet music."
"Oh." Stanley said clearly dissapointment.
For a moment Fiddleford was afraid, that mentioning the past would made Stan uncomfortable, or make silent.
But fortunatelly Stanley fast showed that it didn't bothered him this time.
"Was I a good student?" Stan asked instead with a smirk. "Seems pretty easy for me." Then he added with cockyness, which made Fidds only chuckle.
"The worst one." He couldn't help himself, but taste his patience a little.
"Watch it Cowboy." The man said with smirk, so full of himself as he played a few random, but melodic notes on banjo.
And just then-
"Wait- What did you just call me?" Fiddleford asked rapidly, hoping that he didn't overheard wrong.
Stan looked at him again, taking a pause, as if trying to recall what he said.
"A Cowboy." He said slowly, realising he didn't know why he choosed this kind of words.
"Stanley, I've never mentioned that I am a Cowboy, nor that I'm a fan of them.." Fidds said immiediately and once he saw the expression on his partner's face , he knew. "Stanley." He said so hopefully and full of love. "You.."
He wanted to say You remember
He wanted to reach him..
"I-" The man in fornt of him sounded so confused, but also so hopefull at the same time.
But then rapidly grabbed his head, with a hiss.
"I- think I'm gonna have a headache-" He added painfully.
At once Fiddleford moved to him, taking him gently by his back.
"Shh.. Take it slowly, dear." Fidds said gently to calm him down.
Even though inside he bursting with excitement Stan's healt was his piority number one.
And then Stanley started regaining his memories back!!!! :D
This idea is free to use. If you want you can write a fic about it or just do anything.
Hopefully you enjoyed this idea!!!

Your reverse falls AU looks so amazing I've been so obsessed, I'd love to know more about it so this is me on my knees asking for a little lore drop🧎‍♀️‍➡️🙏
How about we talk about how Will got to Earth? This concept is a bit confusing, so the text is going to be a bit long, I doubt you'll read it all but I'll post it anyway!!!
First of all, it's important to inform you that Ford, just before this, manipulated Will into a deal where he would take his soul “ok, Moone, how?”
here's a text from my pocket demon (co-creator) with the explanation!
“He couldn't trick him like that, it was too daring. So he was going to trick that angel back. Revenge. He was already obsessed, so that angel, his Muse, would definitely be his now.
He would prove to be smarter than a creature like that. So he came up with a good line, saying that he actually agreed with William (and in a way he did) but that he needed some time to finalize things. In the meantime, Gleeful began studying forbidden rituals on how to manipulate a contract.
Then, on returning to William, he said that he needed a helper who wasn't human. He mentioned whether William had any friends, and lucky for Gleeful, William mentioned his gang. Talks came and went, and the scientist said that he wanted to choose one of the gang members, and William agreed, thus making a contract. But it was never said that there were exceptions.
So it's obvious that the chosen member was William himself. That blue devil posing as a fake angel felt more than foolish for falling for such a low trick.” (And yes, this is inspired by Dipper and Bill's Puppet Opera deal! Yay)
Now that this concept has been explained, let's explain what exactly happens to the Portal in this universe.
Stanford Gleeful has always been very stubborn about the portal, refusing to lift a finger to make it, but he wanted it, he needed it for his great human liberation. Will now in possession of Forrd couldn't complain, not in a way that could hurt Ford, and he insisted that he would do it one way or another in the most perfectionist way he could. That's why the portal took 30 years to make, with various tests that may have affected Gravity Falls, but didn't give away the location of the portal.
Okay, where does Will come into this? Well, it's no mystery to anyone that Ford is obsessed with Will, and having him in his possession without being able to have him completely (physically) made him think. Okay, maybe an interdimensional creature really was useful for building the portal, and having him there too… that would be curious… that was around the beginning of the 90s.
At one of the portal's openings, Ford forced Will to enter by pulling him by the chains, a very unpleasant situation for William. Especially as he had to dress up as the Maid :P

Do you think ford would try to make a clone of the person he's obsessed with? Idk i feel like it might be up his ally to pull something freaky like that. Like obviously it's not actually them but they would have similar reactions to certain "stimuli" 👀. He's curious and no one has to know.
Also on another note about somno stuff, what if before you wake up from being drugged you have a wet dream about him and you feel so bad like hes so much older than you and here your lusting after a man thrice your age. He could be your father for christ sake but hes so goddamn cute and sweet and brilliant, its like watching nuclear fusion in real time.
You offer little acts of affection that can be brushed off or you think fords sleeping while you kiss his cheek/forehead or touch his arm or hand. You think you're not good enough for a literal genius and he's just going full send into creepville.
Using while you sleep, stealing your things keeps MULTIPLE journals on your habits, preferences, and anything password protected from him wont be for much longer. The man cant be bothered to touch himself anymore because its utterly lackluster in comparison to being inside you.
Also seeing you be sweet to mable and dipper?? Mans is gone, he's thinking about everything he missed out on while he was stuck running for his life for decades but the domestic moments have him hook, line, and sinker. He considers what it would be like to start a small family or just pretends that his great niece/nephew are his and your kids. Just desperate for the normalcy he lost for so long.
tw // implied noncon, somno, stalking
omg so yes on the clone thing. like absolutely he’d make a clone of them. he’d definitely use the clone as practice for the real you tho.
also the somno thing, you feel so bad for it and you can barely look him in the eyes. and he’s still reeling at the fact that he managed to get away with it. he starts to notice how you’re becoming more affectionate too and he takes that as sign to be even more aggressive with his behavior cuz obviously you’re falling for him.
i feel like seeing you interact with the kids is def one part of why he fell in love with you too.

We all know how awesome Linda and Shermie are. Time to air their dirty laundry. XD Flaw time!
Shermie:
Always misplacing his reading glasses, DESPITE the fact that he had lasik years ago and has good vision otherwise. They're ALWAYS on his shirt collar or in his pocket.
Really struggled with showing affection to his son at first because of how he was raised. But simultaneously spoiled him for the first few years to over compensate for how he was treated and because he almost lost Jason. By the time Jason's 3, he's a bit of a brat and Linda and Shermie start turning things around. Shermie is MUCH better about showing affection and saying "I love you" to his son and Dipper now.
Constantly forgetting the keys to his office. Linda has taken to bringing a spare set, but on days when they don't go in to work together, he has to pick the lock. It's such a thing that his work buddy will stroll up, sipping a coffee in one hand, holding one for Sherm in the other, and when Sherman's done, he goes "What's your time?"
"3.75 minutes."
" Nice! That's down 30 seconds from Tuesday."
Stan taught him how to do it when Sherman was 8, thinking it would be funny. What he did NOT consider, despite Ford's warnings was that subsequently, Sherman got into ALL of the Stans' stuff. Because he could pick the lock to their rooms. He would like to just throw Ford's clothes and bedding on his floor and make a little nest. Then leave it there. XD And start going through Stan's drawings and doodle in his notebooks and textbooks. Sometimes he'd leave candy or drawings in there for them though, so they couldn't stay TOO mad at him.
Gets WAY too into things sometimes. Like he'll sit down and read an entire book series over the course of a couple of days. Same with tv shows. He'll sit and watch a show from like 7:00 p.m to 8 in the morning sometimes. XD Linda found a way to wire the tv and lights in the livingroom to a switch upstairs and will get up and flip the switch, shutting down the lights and tv and yell "GO TO BED!" From upstairs. XD
PEN. CLICKING.
Refuses to rest when he's sick.
Snores like a Bear.
Works himself to the bone and can often be found asleep at his desk at home, his armchair, the couch, or the kitchen table. Linda has to akwardly half pick him up and take him to bed when he does this.
Linda:
Chronic sock stealer. She's constantly misplacing her socks and steals Sherman's
Chronic sweater stealer. She claims it's because his are warmer, really it's because she likes the way he smells and wearing his sweaters is comforting to her. It drives him insane though because she takes his NICE sweaters that he wears to work sometimes. Once Mabel got good at making sweaters and Sherman found out the REAL reason Linda took his sweaters, he started buying material for Mabel to make Linda more sweaters (space themed) and would put a dab of his cologne near the collar when it was finished. Solved that problem xD
Blanket hog.
Gets too into Soap Operas. She, Stan, her sister and one of her brothers would get into a show, then call each other on a 4 way line every week to watch the show together, and they would ALL be yelling. Sherman would have to come down and be like "LINDA! I just got Jason to sleep! If you wake him up, there will be hell to pay!" So she angrily stage-whispers for the rest of the show instead. XD
Can handle a lot of stress, but when she reaches her threshold, she gets snappy. This is about the time Sherman takes Jason out to do stuff for the next few days.
Sounds like Gollum when she snores. Dipper and Mabel can't help but laugh at both of them when they sleep over.
Becomes an absolute baby when she's sick.
Despite her areas of the house (side of their room and her office) being messy 80% of the time, GOD FORBID Sherman leave some clothes on the floor of the bedroom. He'll get an earfull. To which he points out her mess. XD
They are both in a pissing contest with their neighbors over the Christmas lights. The Pines win because of Linda's engineering abilities, but whenever a neighbor gets a new decoration, Sherman and Linda have to add like 5. XD

Hiii!! I love your writing so much<3333
I actually wanna start writing esp about mullet!stan but it feels so overwhelming to start. any tips for newbies? what's your process?
OMG THANK YOU SWEETHEART!!! and ty for giving me the chance to chat!! honestly im a bit afraid my advice might not be super useful to you, but i tried my best to organise my thoughts while writing this. i really hope it helps you at least a little bit ♡
now i absolutely believe mullet Stan is a traumatised, hungry, starved guy, emotionally and physically. he's got daddy issues, trust issues.... all the issues. and i love to write him with that dark humor and those suicide jokes, because well, i’m sure he’s thought about it at least once. i mean c’mon, he literally said his life was worthless before Mabel and Dipper came along. there's so much pain in his past that it’s like a defense mechanism to cover it up with that dark humor. i write him like that because, for me, it feels real. that kind of humor is his way of coping
so if i were to give him more details, id focus on his physical state. scratches, scars, bruises, a constant hunger, stomach growling. it's important to show him as a survivor, but someone who's constantly running on empty. maybe adding physical discomfort to his scenes because it reflects his inner turmoil, things like him being shaky when he’s hungry, being quick to snap when he’s in a bad mood, constantly messing with his hair, or his eyes might dart around nervously when he’s lying.
as for writing in general, daydreaming and listening to music are HUGE inspirations for me :) when it comes to Stan, ive been inspired a lot by tv girl. i know, i know.... it's me projecting one of my fav bands onto my comfort character, but ehh it just works for me. so yes, LISTEN TO THE SONGS! CREATE ENTIRE PLAYLISTS FOR UR CHARACTERS!! it'll help you paint the scene^^
if i need to write a dialogue, i talk to myself out loud, it helps me figure out how character would react to smth. i also try to imagine their facial expressions when talking irl. it’s weird, but it works for me! i get to know the character better that way. getting into their head helps me figure out how their words are supposed to sound. that's the beauty of writing, honestly. that's what i love the most: you really have to understand the character, not just in terms of their actions but their REACTIONS. their own perspective on the situation. the way this exact character sees the world, and how affects how they view others
so yes, i think what's really important is getting into the character's head. showing how they think about situations and other characters. it can be difficult because their thoughts WON’T always align with your own. you have to be able to think from the character’s perspective, even if it’s vastly different from your own opinion. that way, it will create inner conflict between how a character feels and how they really express those feelings, it can make them more relatable
nature descriptions are something ive been really into lately, especially when it comes to forests. ive been practicing this a lot, and it’s one of my favorite methods (can i even call it this way if it's just smth i usually do) to set the atmosphere in my scenes. i live near a forest, so i just go outside and start OBSERVING. you wouldn’t believe how many details you can pick up when you just sit still and let your mind wander. the color of the sky, the sounds of animals, even the texture of the ground beneath your shoes. and when you're writing, you can draw on those sensory details to make the scene feel more immersive. it’s one of my fav ways to build atmosphere. atmosphere is so important in any scene, and nature descriptions are a subtle way to reflect a character's mood or mindset. the environment mirrors characters emotions
when it comes to drama or angst, i absolutely love the unreliable narrator genre. its a great way to really dig into the messiness of a character’s mind. having a narrator who doesn’t always tell the truth or who interprets situations through a biased lens adds intrigue to the story. it’s a tool for showing that sometimes, what a character thinks is happening isn’t really the full picture. this kind of narration allows for more complexity, because you get to explore what the character believes VS the actual reality of the situation
finally, if you have an idea stuck in your head but can’t develop it into a full fic, just write the scene out in draft form first. don’t worry about the structure / details. just get it down on paper. it’s important to let yourself be messy at first. once you have that initial scene, go back to it and think: what can i add to this sentence to make it more vivid? or what can i remove to make it tighter? ask yourself how can i make this feel more alive? and then you can continue with that process for every sentence until it starts to flow. synonyms help a lot here too, like finding the right word to replace something that feels flat. you might not know where the story’s going at first, but by the time you’ve polished those little sentences, the direction will start to form
but if you don’t end up with a full fic right away, that’s totally fine. some of my fav things are just mini atmospheric drabbles, without needing a full explanation. not everything has to be a long, fully explained story. sometimes just capturing a feeling or a situation in a few lines is really enough. don't feel pressured to flesh everything out if you don't feel ready to
another important point, write the way you like. no one should impose their style or rules on you; the key is to feel the character and be honest with yourself about what you're writing. and don't be afraid to experiment!
and.... honestly, i think the best tip i can give is: don’t overthink it. (coming from someone who is constantly overthinking till anxiety). just write for yourself first, not for anyone else :)
i think that’s everything in general??? if you’ve read all of this, HERE'S SOME REAL ADVICE FOR YOU!!!!
