obviously Representation is Important and i understand people wanting bonnie to “come out” but 1) everybody else is pretty much already gay so you’re like, doing fine? people are literally considered bi until proven straight on htg/awm? that’s how these characters have to function? 2) she’s not, like, in. she is the most stereotypical wlw on that entire show. if someone had ever said something to bonnie about her Being Straight she would have laughed at them. it would have been terrifying because she never laughs, but she would then. she would do it then. i feel pretty confident that both the writers and liza would Agree With That Statement. and i think it’s kind of nice? so much Queer Media centers so much on like, discovering your sexuality or whatever, and other than annalise’s identity issues the show just isn’t like that at all. bonnie’s 35 years old in the pilot. she’s lived a lot of life in that time. she’s set. she knows who she is so it doesn’t matter who else knows. it’s her business and she hates talking about herself. she’s not going to monologue about what it was like for her to come to terms with being bi and she doesn’t really care what people do or don’t assume. people casually call her a lesbian in the show and she has no reaction to it whatsoever. she stays around the office late at night drinking with tegan and waxing poetic about how annalise MAKES THEM FEEL ALIVE like ... come on. this is not a bunch of writers who are trying to mess with you. she literally is just like that. aggressively. all the time. she’s insane. please appreciate her god bless

in anticipation of episode 4.14, i watched ‘how to get away with murder’ s1

here’s my thoughts on how rd might be playing out an homage to the show, and on what these parallels might suggest to expect from the whole ‘jughead dies’ plot

below are complete spoilers for ‘how to get away with murder’ s1, a few spoilers for s2 and s3. and also. spoilers for donna tartt’s ‘the secret history.’ cool ok here we go

- first. we’re abbreviating the title to htg

- second. htg’s plot is pretty convoluted and out-of-order, so it’s hard to mention one thing without having to explain four other things. riverdale’s format is so chill in comparison. i apologize for repetition and confusing timeline discussion

- also, maybe u watched this show! or maybe u want to. or maybe ur impatient and just here for riverdale lol. i’m not going to make u scroll through a whole plot summary of htg’s first season. BUT i did write one up here if that’s something u want to read. it will probably make the following easier to understand, but i’ll do my best to make it accessible without that

- third. like i said, my goal here is finding potential parallels and, based on that, speculating on what rd is doing with this plot. i have no conclusions but i do have some thoughts and maybe you do too

- ok the basics of htg:

- this show is the visual inspiration for rd’s flash forward hook, as well as for the murder cover up in the woods.

- the show structure is: a main timeline, intercut occasionally with flash forwards to a murder that happens at the midseason point. similar to rd

- a difference: in rd, the flashes jump to different points over a period of days - burning their clothes, the search party, body identification, then the arrests, the line up, and then back to the ‘death’ scene. in htg, all the flashes jump to different points during one particular night, and only deal with the groups effort to dispose of the body and evidence.

- where was i. oh, but there’s 2 murders in htg. murder #1 happened before the series start point. in the main timeline, the investigation into murder #1 builds up to the midseason climax that results in murder #2 (the one the group is covering up).

- after the timeline has caught up to the midseason murder, then the flash forwards are replaced with flash backs that begin to reveal past details about murder #1.

- so right away, what stands out to me is the possibility that, once the main timeline catches up to whatever happens to jughead in the woods, rd will continue to follow this format. but what would rd flash back to? hang on,

- the genre here is inverted detective story, where instead of finding out someone was killed and following along to find out who did it,, you learn right away who’s doing the murdering and how. the mystery lies in whether they’ll get away with it and/or what led up to that point.

- in htg, murder #1 is a regular mystery, and murder #2 is inverted. in rd, jughead’s death is an inverted mystery, and there’s several other regular mysteries/deaths: chipping’s suspicious suicide, the old generation of the quill & skull society, + the missing kids that jughead and betty are investigating

- so it may transpire that we see flashbacks to those missing students, like moose or the stonewall 5. or maybe context on why chipping jumped, what dupont said to him. or a glimpse into fpj1′s time at stonewall. i’m spitballing

- hm a note on genre here: maybe there’s a conversation to be had about inverted murder mysteries and perfect murders (recall, the theme dupont assigned for the class). like, crime fiction specifically told through the perspective of getting away with it. (a perfect murder is specifically a murder that resists all explanation. no suspects, no evidence)

- ok. the first half of htg s1 is the lead up to the night of murder #2. the second half of the season focuses on how participating in and covering up a murder is affecting the people involved. grief, guilt, anxiety, nightmares. strain and changes in their relationships with each other, friends, and family. again, perhaps we’ll see rd focus on this in a similar way.

- hey btw, does that sound a little familiar to u? it might if you read the secret history. we already know this book is one of the influences behind rd’s s4 plot, but i was surprised at how much overlap is apparent between htg’s plot and the book plot. i made a chart about it lmao. more on that later

- what else fits into a parallel between rd and htg?

- some similarities between characters. htg has a group of law students from privileged backgrounds who are super competitive with each other, similar to the stonewall kids. and there’s the one outsider student who gets into the class last minute, is far less privileged, and who has a tragic past and a head for snooping and investigation.

- there’s a student/teacher affair that gets violent. it goes down pretty much the opposite of in rd; the girl gets pregnant, is totally in love, suggests the affair should be revealed to the teacher’s wife, and then she goes missing and turns up dead (murder #1)

- also, unlike rd where we have only donna’s word, in htg the affair is confirmed, and revealed through a bunch of evidence - dick pics on phones and postmortem pregnancy results, etc

- some other minor details from the show that the rd writers may have reflected upon:

- a window jumper suicide. circumstances very not the same tho

- a blink-and-miss-it scene with a dog named mr. chips, which is the nickname of the film character who rd’s mr. chipping is probably named after (goodbye mr. chips)

- also, ok. the 2 murders story is the show’s long A plot, but each episode also has a short B plot in the form of court cases that annalise and her group of student/interns work on. (btw lead character annalise is a criminal defense lawyer & law professor). details worth mentioning from some of these subplots:

- there’s a case involving cult brainwashing. a former devotee is charged with something terroristic with a bomb she did years ago, idk. annalise has her visit her old cult leader in prison to ask him to help her by testifying that he forced her to participate. this backfires - she falls back under his sway, he escapes custody during the trial, and they run away together, abandoning the family she made after leaving the cult

- in this ep the patty hearst trial is mentioned - the difficulty of trying to legally prove someone acted under duress, or prove they were brainwashed. and how trying to claim both at the same time is a terrible legal defense

- in another case, a woman is charged with murdering her housemaid while sleepwalking. she resists help from annalise bc she feels so guilty. the woman says ‘can u imagine waking up to realize that you killed somebody you loved? that’s what i did.’ except she didn’t; they figure out she was being framed by the real killer, her husband, who was jealous bc he thought he was the only one sleeping with the maid but he found out his teen son was too. yikes

- there is so much cheating in this show smh. anyway,

- these subplots are interesting to compare to rd, but sort of trivial in terms of htg’s overall plot. so what happens in the A plot after murder #2?

- a catch-up if u skipped the plot summary: annalise keating, lawyer, professor, is the central character. she’s direct, takes no shit, and puts up an emotionally impervious wall that keeps almost everyone out. but it’s also apparent from ep1 that she’s really suffering - her marriage is falling apart, she’s cheating and finds out her husband, sam, is too. they agree to repair things and sam seems to be making a big effort, but she keeps catching him in lies that point toward murder #1.

- in the latter half of the season, while she’s helping make sure the kids get away with murder #2 (they accidentally kill sam while pursuing him as the murder suspect), annalise’s grieving process is a focus. there’s an emphasis on her appearance as her armor, guarding her complicated grief over the trauma of her loss and the destruction of her trust. her cold exterior is both a protection and, at the same time, a point of suspicion for police, lawyers, and public who wonder how she can be so unaffected. meanwhile, in private, she has a total breakdown.

- this builds from a parallel that’s played with throughout the season - annalise’s control of her image vs hiding or confronting the truth. like, at one point, it’s evening, she wipes off all her makeup and pulls off her wig, then turns barefaced to her husband and asks him bluntly for the truth, why she caught him in a huge lie. and the flip side, later walking around with her whole look in place, as if nothing is wrong, is part of her effort to cover up the murder.

- i bring this up bc it reminds me of something that (the brilliant, the illuminating) @bettycooperoutfitwatch​ talked about in her 4.05 post, regarding That Sweater.

- in this post, at the flash forward arrest scene, she points out ‘it’s betty cooper in disguise as betty cooper.’ which, like. i’m floored by this observation

- the persona betty originally created to conform to her parents’ unattainable expectations of perfection and normality, now (not for the first time) dialed up and re-purposed to try to disperse suspicion???? love this

- annalise and betty are very Not alike as characters. but it seems that betty, like annalise, will be involved in the murder of her loved one. i’m interested to see if rd will follow htg’s emphasis on emotional turmoil and pretense in the aftermath of trying to get away with something horrible

- oh but that reminds me, i promised a chart

- i haven’t read the secret history and i have no desire to, but i foraged enough details to be able to point out some bare bones similarities going on here. it’s important to include this bc, at the moment, it complicates any attempt to figure out which, if either, inverted murder plot rd might be paralleling at any time.

- in other words, all my speculations here about htg parallels might be worthless bc i might be looking at the wrong text. it’s cool, i think that makes it more fun

- last thing. in htg, the inverted mystery (whether or not the kids get away with it) is resolved by annalise planting evidence that frames someone else (whom she chooses bc she’s confident she can get him safely out of the charges). the bottom line there is: someone innocent is framed for murder #2.

- and then a new development - one kid involved in murder #2 freaks out and may decide to turn the others in - leads to a 3rd death. hm (post s4 update: that’s jonathan i guess)

- actually no, the real last thing. wikipedia says there’s a subplot in htg s2 that involves blackmailing annalise and others with uhhhh creepy surveillance videos of them, some that incriminate them in murder #2.

- and then, in s3, drawn out over another series of flash forwards, there’s a character death reveal... of the guy who’s most in parallel to jughead.... lmao. and speak nothing of s6. so like, there’s definitely potential for more or continuing parallels here

- i kind of hope not though, bc i don’t have it in me to watch more of this show. it’s Very high strung, i can’t deal with it (post s4 update: no i never watched any more of this show but yes, that was all definitely used by rd)

- bonus: wait do u want some of my opinions on the actual show?? favorite characters: annalise, bonnie, and oliver. i liked the fast pace but the constant tension stressed me out. also, not enough lesbians; i kept expecting bonnie and annalise to kiss. the guy who plays wes.... not a very good actor, is he? viola davis though: amazing. that’s all. watch if u like stress. sorry i spoiled everything

helloooo i was wondering with your fics, if there was any particular reasoning behind jk being your outsider character while tae tends to have the rest of bangtan as his friendship group. It makes sense structurally for HG and LME but i was curious about rwcbmt in particular.

i’ve been asked this once before and it’s so interesting how some people pick up on this. for rwcbmt, it really wasn’t a conscious decision in the more obvious way it was with htg (jk is the only one who goes the idol route in this alternate universe) and lme (purely an age thing and i really just wanted to write 97 line. 97 line for lyfe!). for rw in contrast, it came about because it was really important for taehyung to have a core supportive friendship group, i really really wanted to write yoonjin, i really really wanted to write the contrast and similarities between hoseok and taehyung, and jimin’s whole arc of being surfacewise the path taehyung should have been on if things had gone differently for him was only possible narratively if he and taehyung are ride or die.

i think the reason i’m drawn to this dynamic, jeongguk being the outside one as you said, is really because the idea of jeongguk as “a product of all the hyungs” has been so incredibly mythologized. a lot of maknaes in kpop are trated in this very specific way of being the youngest (age hierarchy is just a huge cultural norm in sk) but the way it’s trated in bangtan is unlike anything i’d ever seen. not just by fans, but by bighit and bts and jeongguk himself. the way begin was written, jeongguk saying he’s a composite of all his hyungs (i’m paraphrasing) bangtan raised him, etc. and on one hand, this is very sweet and beautiful and shows the bangtan brotherhood bond. but on the other, it gets to the point where people (including the way proper bighit content talks about him, and even jk himself) have created this myth that jeongguk is who he is solely because of his hyungs. this isn’t bad point blank, but when every thoughtful, introspective, or substantial thing jeongguk says or does is attributed to someone else, like jeongguk doesn’t have his own personality, or even more extremely, his own thoughts, that’s a disservice to him, and to the rest of bts as well. so in my writing, subconsciously or not, i’m trying to explore “who is jeongguk?” but really, “who is jeongguk without bts?” as a character.

and then the taehyung component of that is part comentary to myself re: how taehyung would have been the maknae of bts without jk (if they hadn’t added another younger member of course) and how despite there’s all this talk of the way taehyung is written/treated, because of how strong his personality is in a way (his individuality so to say) i don’t think we’d be having this dialogue at all had taehyung been the youngest in bts. taehyung kind of showed up fully former personality wise in a way. that is in no way a slight toward jk or to say that taehyung hasn’t grown or changed (of course he has), it’s just a product of their differences as people. but then the play on that is: taehyung having his hyungs, taehyung being taken cared of (babied even) by the hyungs while still retaining his personality (whatever it is in whatever fic).

in my newest wip (yeah i know please don’t @ me) it’s actually jeongguk who’s the “inside” character (namgi this time around) and taehyung is the outside character and all his friendships/people are either oc’s or other kpop idols (picked for my own specific reasons). so you know i can break my own tropes sometimes!

The Go For Broke Spirit wanted to say Aloha to one of its finest members, Ted Tsukiyama, an author and historian for the Nisei veterans. Ted passed away a few days ago and he will surely be missed.

Ted Tsukiyama was 20 years old, a student at the University of Hawaii, Manoa and an active member in the ROTC. Ted said, “I responded within the first hour, as soon as the radio called the ROTC to report to duty.” They were issued special armbands with the initials HTG for the Hawaii Territorial Guard. After a few months, the Army decided to disband the Hawaii Territorial Guard, because they realized it was primarily made up of Japanese Americans, about 80 percent. Pondering for a moment, Ted told me, “I felt terrible. Probably the worst moment of my life, to be dismissed from the service of your country and sort of declared as unwanted and distrusted. That was a great low blow.”.

When the US Army formed the 442nd, Ted was among the mass of 10,000 volunteers to show up for the initial call for 1,500 men, which he said grew to nearly 3,000.

After the war, Ted continued his studies and got his law degree, but his most important work involved documenting his history, and that of his fellow Nisei veterans, through his book, My Life’s Journey: A Memoir, as well as other publications.

Being this the first class I’ve taken about Open Source Design and Intellectual Property, writing a post about it has taken quite a lot of time because when reading about it I encountered many terms that I’m not familiar with. After reading various articles, watching videos, and talking to experts on the topic about both terms I can now analyze how this two have an effect on inequality, and the importance of this phenomena on our daily lives. I will use this blog to try and explain the material I learn in my Open Source for the Common Good, and inform people who have no prior knowledge on the topic!

To begin, Open Source (OS) in simple terms is free information for the public. Basically, when someone studies a certain topic and discovers new information, and decides to share the information with the public, allowing them to use it and modify it for the own good. Open Source Design (OSD) is when people design initiatives for other information to be free or open to the public.

Intellectual Property (IP) is when information is protected by the law by patents, copyright and trademarks, which gives financial returns to the person who invented it. So just to make sure you understand the term, IP is very similar to OSD, but differs in that people who patent their information decide they need to profit from all their research and charge for their information. ($$$ Disclaimer: VERY EXPENSIVE $$$)

This post will focus the effect OSD and IP have specifically on the inequality crisis.

Inequality crisis: People who can afford Intellectual Property are people with money, and this is usually people who either received an education and then went on to work very hard, or inherited money from their parents.

So two arguments exist on OSD vs IP and the effect they have on the inequality crisis.

1)    Why do people with money needs an advantage of access to information? If people with less resources need a major advantage in order to get to the small level. Therefore, information should be public and free in order to reduce inequality.

2)    If I’m a researcher and I’ve worked so hard and spend a lot of money and time on this experiment, or investigation, why is anyone expecting me to give out this information for free? I should be able to monetize my job in order to be able to get more resources and keep up my work!

There is no right or wrong answer to this, and I’m sure I’m able to make you doubt which one you prefer with the examples I will present you!

Case #1: Would you say Boylan’s Slippery Wahoo mixology or KFC world famous chicken recipe should be free to the public?

Case #2: Pfizer or any big pharma company discovers the cure for cancer. Should they share their discoveries and save MILLIONS from this suffering? Or should they profit from all their hard work by selling expensive medicines, knowing half of the world lacks access to even essential health services?

Case #3: A recent college graduate comes up with an amazing code to program software applications. The code still has some glitches that if he figures out he could sell the program and pay his student loans! Should he share the information with other coders? Maybe more experienced ones, who will improve his code and help him complete it.

Case #4: A government invests in multimillion dollar project to help boost the economy of their country. With their recent discoveries, their exports should triple in the next 10 years. Governments receive their funds to conduct their researches with the taxes the citizens pay, so the population should have also access to it right? A private company could find this study helpful, but so does other governments that could create competition.

Each industry has arguments in their favor and against, and some industries are more open than others. As I said before, there is no right or wrong answers to these questions, but the truth is that in order to reduce the inequality gap, having Intellectual Property protected under the law is not the answer.

The weird thing about powering through the show so fast the first time is that it was only like 3 weeks ago that I saw this ep and that makes it feel very weird that it is literally the fourth ep of the entire series.

I <3 how Vic is always all up on the dead bodies. I mean, I know it’s mostly due to her experience as a homicide detective, but I also like to think it’s her forthrightness, too.

Lizzie! I don’t mind Lizzie. I mean, obv I’d rather Walt do Vic, but I also love watching Walt pick ladies up and carry them around, plus I can’t really say I wouldn’t try to pull a fainting fit if Walt Longmire were there to catch me... (what? I never said I wasn’t basic). Also the look on Vic’s face every time Walt and Lizzie are in the same room, well, it gives me life. She is SO HERE for Walt getting laid (you know, right up until she realizes she’d like to be doing the laying).

I lied, I don’t want Henry to be my uncle. I’d like him to adopt me please.

I love how the relationship with Mathias grows and changes, how it’s never good, but it becomes less antagonistic as he gets more space from Malachi’s arrest and gets to know Walt better.

Walt talking a potshot at Vic because he embarrassed about the flirting makes my heart hurt. But I’ll wear my shipper glasses and say it’s because he’s more interested in her than in other people. I mean, Vic pretty well flirts with everyone, but she’s a flirtier flirt with other people and a more genuine flirt with Walt and I dig it.

It’s amazing to me how much chill the actual criminal in the ep has. Like, he stands right there with the entire Absaroka sheriff's department like he’s not the freaking bad guy. I have no similar chill.

Why does Vic’s hair look so much better this season? What was she doing different? Was something going on with Katee’s health?

Dear Diary,

Happy Thanksgiving, I guess. Whateverrrrr. Another sucky holiday where we have to have a bunch of efing visitors over.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to have a break from the hellhole that is Bryce Jefferson Middle School. Today was so bizarre in a whole new way. Fucking Harry, my idiot idiot brother decided to grace us with his presence for the first time this entire year so you just know Lily and James (from here on referred to as the Jerk Parents) were losing their shit getting the house ready because Golden Boy was bringing over his stupid boyfriend.

The same one he brought for dad’s Lobster Sunday thing (I mean Jerk Parent 2’s Lobster Sunday thing) last year. Anyway, Draco coming over was not the bizarre part, OMG they could not keep their hands off each other. It was so crazy and shit… downright obscene at times.

They kept like, holding hands and just putting their hands on some part of each other whenever they were near each other or walking by each other. They also kept kissing each other’s cheeks. I mean, GROSS! It was like they didn’t care that the rest of us were around. Like, hello!

And then, OMG at some point earlier in the evening, they had decided to make this like bread and cheese thing to add to the appetizers. H actually had his hand on D’s ass while they were working in the kitchen. WTFuckkkkk. I’m just a young girl of 13 years, I don’t need to see that! People were mostly in the family room so I’m the only one who got an eyeful of that. And then later, when they were eating their bready-cheesy shit thing, they kept looking at each other and making these like “mm hmm” sounds. Kind of like they are agreeing with each other or something. This was at the table with us present. What. The. Actual. Hell.

They weren’t like this last time they were here. I am not exaggerating, today was cray. Literally after they left, Uncle Frank said “boy, they were affectionate” and mum only said “well, they’ve certainly progressed.” WTF does that even mean? Whatever. At least tomorrow will be a nice quiet day for me. HTG to me.

Wow.. volume 9.. I'm going to wrap it up with this one because I really don't want to live in the past or think about any of these people any more. I'm happy, even if Mr HTG is still not officially mine, I only want to look forward and these crypts will be closed. There are definitely more stories than the ones I've written here.. but this is the one that people are like "NO.. that only happens in movies!"

So, I was minding my own business at work when one of my regular customers walked in with a friend. They had been at a dinner party, and started talking about winter tires, and my customer said that the friend had to come see me for tires, and proceeded to bring him in. His friend wasn't someone who really stood out to me, there was nothing remarkable to me about him. He was nice enough, mild mannered, tall, blue eyes, great smile (I'm a sucker for eyes and smiles) and we went over some tire options. I sent them on their way with the friend having his quotes in hand.

I didn't really think anything more of it, it was busy (snow) season and I was plenty busy. A week or so later, the friend comes back, he had decided on some tires and steel wheels and put his deposit down on the order. I wrote up the order, and handed him his copy, when he asked "so when do I get to see you again?" and my smart ass responded with something to the effect of when he got his tires on.

I hadn't really paid any attention to him prior to that moment, and he wasn't my "type" at all. I went home, and something kept nagging at me about him, so I sent him a text after getting his number off his order slip. This is not something I generally do, but since he'd already asked me out, I didn't feel like I was overstepping. This was also 10 years ago.

I didn't hear anything back until the Monday, when I got a profuse apology for the delay, and the excuse that he had had his phone stolen while having lunch on a patio over the weekend in a busy tourist town.

We started talking regularly, he came in and got his snow tires in the meantime, and we hung out for our first "date". He told me he was on a joint task force for terrorist threats between the FBI and CSIS and had to travel often as the supervisor of his unit. He said he would try to see me as often as possible but that it wasn't always a lot of time. I didn't mind, as I was busy and we facetimed and talked by text and phone. I never felt neglected.

We dated for a year, our relationship was amazing, we got along so well, and he made me strive to be my best self. I lost a ton of weight, was eating well, and made an appointment with my doctor to get my mental health in check.

We never had sex, we just had incredibly hot makeout sessions. I always thought it was odd that he didn't want to go any further, but he said he had had a bad experience and wanted to wait until we were married. As he was on the smaller side, I figured that had something to do with it, but I was so absolutely in love by that point it didn't really matter.

He had all sorts of pics of him in his flack in his suits, in the cars, with the guns, or just in offices. I'd get a text or call saying he was flying in and was driving to see me, but would only have about an hour or two to spend with me before he had to get back to his team and back on the road. It kept things exciting, and I loved surprise visits when he'd text me at work that he was outside.

I wanted to see him more, of course, especially as things got more intense between us. But it was always a matter of time for him. No matter how awful other things in my life were going, whenever asked how things with him were, I would immediately brighten and say they were amazing.

My anxiety was getting to a very dysfunctional level, and I was struggling hardcore to manage it. I went to the doctor, he arranged for me to begin therapy. He was supportive when I told him. This was around our 1 year together. But the next time I got to see him, I got doused with ice water, when I gifted him with an expensive watch and he told me he wanted to take our relationship back a step because of his schedule. His reason was that I was amazing and I deserved to be able to pursue someone who could give me everything he wasn't able to due to his job. I was blindsided and devastated. Because I loved him so much, and was dumb, I agreed to try. I'm an absolutely all-in or all-out type of personality, there is no grey middle ground for me. It is why I do struggle with FWB and casual arrangements, unless I have mentally steeled myself to be all-out and just enjoy the moment without feelings.

My first year of therapy and into my second was almost fully dedicated to dealing with this trauma. I have never had a break up so devastating. I am pretty sure most of the damage came from the shock, but also from the "trying" to move forward with him flitting in and out of my life instead of just cutting clean ties.

I cried a lot.. I was so stressed my cortisol levels caused my body to produce more than double the healthy level of reverse T3, completely messing up my thyroid and metabolism, I gained weight, lost energy and all the other fall out. It took me years to recover, and moving to NS and stumbling upon a doctor who treated the thyroid issues (which seem to be back in working order now after some thyroid hormone therapy).

I have never ever let someone have so much impact on my life, and the only reason I can ever explain it with was just the depth of love I had for this man. I don't even know why or what sucked me in, beyond his confidence and charm. He was one of the many devil Aquarius that I dated, always trying to prove the zodiac/astrology stuff was absolutely wrong (because I am generally SO drawn to Aquarius and have dated that sign more than any other). The zodiac definitely kicked my ass with Aquarius to show me that I fucked around and found out the hard way for sure.

We did the on and off/casual thing for 6 months before it was too toxic and messed me up too badly and I cut him off. It was about 6 months later he crawled back, and we tried it again for about another 6 months before I broke again and cut him off permanently.

I tried to not think of him, and started trying to move on with dating. My longterm ex and I had become gaming friends again by this point, in a mostly healthy and functional way. He had asked me to get an app called Voxter so he could send me voice messages (pre-imsg) and I had. You have to make an account to use Voxter though, and then the app itself didn't pick up my soft voice so I deleted it. But the account remained.

One day, I get an email that I have a new suggested contact/friend on Voxter. I open the email, and low and behold, it is Mr Aquarius Devil... and I'm like "hmm.. I don't have any of his new contact information in my phone" so I go to my computer and open my gmail.. start typing in his name and up pops this picture:

The fucker was MARRIED... and had a KID.

I will say, that was the BEST closure ever.. I was INSTANTLY over his ass instead of lamenting WHY it hadn't worked and what I had possibly done wrong. What I had done wrong, was fall for a fucking dirtbag.

Now, I work with the public.. and I had lots of regular customers that would ask me how I was and what was going on with me, and share what was going on with them. I was angry, and I showed a few of them this pic and was like "look at this fucker, he has a WIFE and KID" and I think it got back to him.

Two weeks after I stumbled upon this picture on his gmail, I got a full confessional email from him.

Turns out, he had been married for 12 years, and his son was 7 at the time I found out. Not only that, but he wasn't in law enforcement, HE WAS A PASTOR.. He had also gotten busted for sleeping with two women in his congregation, and fooling around with two others. He had lost his congregation and his church was sending him out west to some rehab. His wife was staying with him, and moving out there with him. He basically said it was all a lie (everything) and that his therapist said he had to write apology letters and explain himself to his victims (like myself). He said it was an ego trip to compensate for low self esteem. So basically, I was just an ego boosting toy for him.

A year later, I received a random text message from a southern Alberta phone number. I am guessing it was his wife, as all it said was "Have you been in contact with J***?" and I was like "J*** who?" and never heard anything ever again. But I am sure he was already back to his old tricks.

Imo one of the reasons that TH got dragged for that comment is his comment made him sound as if fans having sterek headcanon was 'disrespectful' but then in another interviews he had his own headcanon about Derek BUT with Braeden. In which their relationship's already iffy from the get go in canon but TH said that Derek's kind of happy in relationship with an essentially hunter for hire? Who killed werewolves for money? Really? He whose whole family was killed by hunter?

2/ compared to that, sterek is waaaay more organic and wouldn’t even contradict canon if it did happen. Aside from poorly worded answer, that is. So yeah, I can understand why people think he’s being homophobic. Fans having sterek headcanons is not okay because it’s two men but since your own headcanon involves a woman it makes it okay? Probably something like that. Cmiw he also commented that he wouldn’t know how to play a gay man that he’s afraid that he wouldn’t do it justice.

I actually liked Braeden and I think in a lot of respects she was a good match for Derek. She was tough, she was smart, and she was–depressingly–his only canon consensual relationship. I mean, we all know that she was basically introduced to “no-homo” Derek… but I think if they’d actually taken the time to develop her character and actually tell us something about her, a lot more people would have warmed to her.

I mean, she was more a mercenary than hunter, right? Anyway, we know all hunters aren’t horrible people. Kate and Gerard stand out because they broke their code. So presumably there are lots of hunters out there who aren’t horrible. 

I agree with you that Sterek felt more organic at that point than Draeden, but that’s all down to the fact that we knew Stiles…we never did get to know Braeden, because, well, shitty writing, no character development, and all the usual hallmarks of TW. 

And I do get why many people thought Hoechlin’s answer was homophobic, I’m just not sure I agree. I think that he was between a rock (the show’s official line) and a hard place (a room full of fans who wanted a different answer), and he stumbled. I don’t remember him making a comment about not knowing how to play a gay man, but I agree with your solution, lol! 

I think that basically Hoechlin has a conservative Christian background, an awkward relationship with the idea of shipping itself, and quite possibly some stuff he needs to work through in his own time!

Okay so I’ve just finished all your fics. Despite me not really being one to declare anything as the best (seriously I hardly ever do this), lme Tae really is the best. thank you for reading my stuff! i find it super hard to pick a favorite taehyung but lme! tae really is a good one. because of how focused and in a way simple lme is, he knows he wants jk and just goes for it. he’s my most confident taehyung in a lot of ways without being overbearing or dickish about it so he’s very attractive as a character (imo). htg has a very soft spot in my heart (and yes i plan to hopefully finish it some day!) thank you again for reading my fics and taking the time to drop off this message 💖
