SHUNTARO CHISHIYA

Psychic and Ice type trainer

His starter pokemon is obviously a Froakie, now an over powered Greninja

His team consists of Greninja, Espeon, Vanillux, Frillish (who he sometimes switches out with Solosis), a Galarian Meowth, and a mighty Kadabra.

He completed two of his Pokedexes in his first 3 years of being a trainer.

Treats his pokemon team like a sports team. he’s the coach and he trains his pokemon to be the best.

One day, he last the Pokeball containing Espeon when it was still an Eevee, he retraced his steps so far that he ended up getting lost in a forest. When he found the Pokeball, Team Rocket was already there, trying to take his Eevee. He fought them so hard that even though he got a few injuries, nevertheless he won. Letting his Eevee out, he celebrated internally, and little did he know, the Eevee was two seconds away from evolving.

Even though Greninja was his starter, his little Espeon will always be his favorite.

SUGURU NIRAGI

Fire type trainer (oops)

The team he built contains Torracat, Charizard (evolves into the Y form to be specific), Cinderace, Blaziken, Litleo, and Houndoom

Keeping things simple, he only catches fire type pokemon with a dash of fighting types.

He has huge respect for his pokemon, they're the ones fighting, not him. When they are all out of their Pokeballs, he treats them like his best friends and always takes care of them.

When in battle, he makes sure to always burn his opponent on the first move.

HATES grass-type trainers and grass-type pokemon in general. He thinks of them as useless since they're weak against most types.

His amazing pokemon story as a trainer would be when he first got his Litten in high school. The Litten he received HATED him at first. Every time he would try and train it, it would always end up with him having cat scratches all over him. It was only until his bullies at school approached him with their pokemon and tried t attack him. The Pokeball in his pocket opened by itself revealing the Litten, and Fire Fang’ed those kids back to their mommies.

from then on. he realized the problem was the Pokeball, and that he can't just be too bossy over the Litten, since it had a mind of its own as well. Every night after that, he would sleep next to the Litten like his very own companion throughout his journey.

RYOHEI ARISU

Fighting and Electric type trainer

his team has Gallade, Lucario, Luxio, Pancham, Togedemaru, and Marshadow

As the dedicated trainer he is, he’s completed 4 of his Pokedexes in just a year of training. It was mostly because he loved to collect regular pokemon and always trained them to get their evolutions instead of catching an already evolved pokemon.

Treats his pokemon like his pets, always handing out treats, playing and buying them new toys, and eating with them.

He always battles with a balance of fun and strategy. He loves to knock out the opponent on the first move, and when they switch out their pokemon, he paralyzes them.

Never uses a normal Pokeball due to his laziness, even though he’s broke, he will never buy a Pokeball. Rest assured that he’s stocked up on Great and Luxury balls.

Talking about being stocked up, he has EVERYTHING. when I say everything I mean it. He often goes away from the city for a long time to collect new pokemon. Potions, poke dolls, repellents, you name it he has it.

His Bulbasaur that he received as he started died due to some failure in its organs. That death was something instead of being grieved too much, took it as a lesson in life on how every living thing could die at any moment. He used this lesson to always spend time with the people he loves and makes sure that all his pokemon know how much he loves each and one of them, no matter how many times they fail in battle, his pokemon will always be his best friends no matter what.

The stadium roared louder than any Pokemon and twice as wild. Packed stands moved in frantic rhythm, hundreds of flags and banners flapping like wings in a storm. Under the harsh lights on the massive field, entirely in his element, Beau smirked at the Trainer in front of them. Their eyes were locked, determined gazes meeting past the flapping leathery wings of Beau’s Noivern and the dark, fiery aura of the Trainer’s Chandelure. Noivern’s left leg was pulled close to its body, singed and smarting. Beau’s eye twitched when the hit had landed and burned his partner, but it was nothing that couldn’t be healed.

    Revenge, however, would be severe. Noivern could take the hit, as could the other Pokemon still at their side, waiting to swoop in and crush this kid’s last two Pokemon.

“Noivern!” Beau called clearly, the sureness of winning carried in the lilt of their voice, “Use Wing Attack!”

The winged Pokemon looked back and met Beau’s eyes, his own determination reflected back through the years-long bond they’ve shared with only a glance. Noivern seemed to hover in breathless stillness for a moment as it drew its wings wide, before its muscles tensed and the thin membranes caught the air, sending blades of wind at the hapless Chandelure. Its flames flickered as it was buffeted by the air.

A critical hit!

The Trainer looked horrified as their Pokemon fell to the ground- dulled, dizzy, and defeated. Beau barked out a laugh.

“C’mon kid, I know you’ve got one more! Can’t run away now!”

The trainer looked up with a glare, and sent out their final Pokemon- Cinderace. The stadium went nuts. A fan favorite for sure, and one that gave Beau pause. His strategy was always to call back his Pokemon when their health dropped too low, something that often caught the challengers off guard and gave his battles an air of intrigue- it kept everyone including his opponent on their toes, and allowed him to use his dual-types to his advantage when his opponent least expected it.

Noivern was already burnt, and its wing beats were beginning to falter. Another fiery hit and it might faint. Corviknight was at a steep disadvantage, and even weaker besides- it would take hours to preen those burnt feathers as it was. Hawlucha had fainted at the hands of a Togedemaru, an upsetting and infuriating upset. Talonflame or Swoobat might get a hit in if they swapped in now, but it was risky- as fast as they were, Cinderace could be faster. 

The rabbit Pokemon hopped back and forth, waving its arms and riling up the crowd as Beau deliberated. It would come down to whose Pokemon was faster- mostly.

Of course, they hadn’t forgotten what would really turn the tide.

A wry grin spread across their face as the Dynamax power gathered in their wristband, built into their gray falconer's glove like a centerpiece. Noivern, still burnt but with fierce determination in its eyes, receded into the growing Pokeball. They rubbed the ball affectionately and threw it high

Noivern burst from the Pokeball, its wings unfurling to block out the sun above the stadium. Its eyes glowed like flares and pierced the humans below, drenching them in golden light. Red mist gathered around its rounded concave ears and seemed to spill down its furred back, to be stirred up again by its massive wings that spanned the width of the stadium. With a cry that drowned out the frantic cheers, Noivern unleashed its power.

Speed was well trained in their Pokemon, and Noivern wasted no time in stirring up a whirling current of air before the other trainer had a chance to act. The Cinderace was lifted off its fuzzy little feet and swept clear across the stadium.

To Beau’s surprise, however, it stayed standing. 

Barely. 

They watched with a sneer as the other trainer gathered their Dynamax energies and sent their giant Cinderace out as well. Its massive ears seemed to part the red fog and twitch in time with the rhythmic chanting of the spectators.

Beau all but growled as the Cinderace sent a firestorm at Noivern, engulfing it in flames. As the flames died down, Noivern tilted to one side, then the other, before finally falling to the ground, singed and unconscious. 

“I’m sorry, mate,” Beau said quietly, as Noivern retreated into its Pokeball to rest and recover. 

The opposing trainer was jumping up and down as the crowd cheered. Cinderace, still battered, raised its arms in triumph. 

Beau began to snicker, then laugh outright. The kid turned with an annoyed and confused expression, and Beau only laughed harder, more meanly.

“I’m not done here!” they said airily. Their choices were limited, but not expended; with little thought but revenge, Beau sent out Swoobat. It blinked in the bright lights and up at the Dynamaxed Cinderace across the field from it. It gave Beau an uncertain look, ears drooped forward in nervousness.

“You can do this!” they encouraged, and Swoobat seemed to gather itself. It was a relative newcomer to Beau’s team, but one that had quickly found its place, both strategically and in their heart. Beau genuinely believed in Swoobat’s abilities.

Swoobat was already injured, however- it certainly wouldn’t withstand enough hits to make leading with Future Sight worthwhile. Beau narrowed his eyes and pointed.

“Swoobat, use Psychic!”

Energy gathered around the fuzzy bat, warping the space around it and radiating power that seemed impossible for its size.

“Yeah! You got it!” Beau shouted, as the attack landed.

Another critical hit!

Cinderace seemed to explode. In its already weakened state, Swoobat’s attack coming from a place of wanting to make Beau proud was just enough to defeat the opposing trainer’s Pokemon.

Swoobat circled Beau ecstatically as they approached the dejected trainer. The kid looked up at them with wide and watery eyes.

“It’s only gonna get harder from here,” they said, sneering. “My advice? Give it up, ‘kay?”

With that, they turned on their heel and walked away to the sound of thousands of shouts, jeers, and cheers.

“You gotta go easier on those kids, mate. Your bitterness is showing.”

Beau refused to look up to greet the owner of that familiar, gravely voice. The cozy little restaurant was full after the match, the tellies showing highlights from that day’s events. Wins, losses, and impressive plays from all across Galar were discussed and picked apart ad infinitum. His own battle was often referenced, to his delight. Eyes were on them, and as they picked at their chips they were playing it cool.

Piers, however, had no need to play, and they both knew it. It ruffled Beau’s feathers, so to speak. The other gym leader sat across from them in their corner booth and leveled an exhausted look in their direcion, one that Beau met with a smirk.

“It’s a challenge for a reason, innit?” they responded flippantly. “Besides, shouldn’t you be celebrating too? I defeated a Dynamax Pokemon with a regular old Pokemon, isn’t that your whole shtick?”

“No,” he responded dully. “My shtick is makin’ sure this league runs smooth as it can, just as yours should be.”

Beau raised their hands sarcastically. “Pardon me for making things interesting and not throwing the match whenever the kid looks pathetic. You goin’ to Raihan next and tellin’ him to ease up too?”

“You know right well that Rihan ain’t pullin’ the same stunts you are,” Piers shot back, pointing a thin finger at Beau and meeting their eyes. “Look mate, I’m one of the only gym leaders left who can stand to talk to you for more than a minute, yeah? So listen here- you play by the rules and start flyin’ right, or you’re off the circuit. Simple as.”

Beau glared. “It isn’t my fault my strategy works. I’m breaking no rules, used no items, nothin’ under the table. You get away with your gym being a dead zone, I’m bein’ just as creative!”

Piers crossed his arms. “When’s the last time a trainer came back for a rematch?”

“Dunno. I don’t bother to remember any of ‘em.

“None,” Piers said. “They don’t come back to try again when they lose to you. An’ the few that win? They’re miserable in their interviews, can’t even enjoy their wins after your tantrums.”

Beau blinked slowly at Piers, resting their chin in their hand. “So?”

“What is wrong with you?”

“Is there something wrong with being the best Gym Leader in Galar?”

“Bein’ the best Gym Leader isn’t about winnin’, mate. It’s about playing the same game and making things interesting for everyone. Not just you.”

Beau scoffed. “Can’t say I’d find it very interesting if every kid who rolled in with a Wooloo became Champion, but I suppose you’re right, mate- it isn’t just all for me. Might be then that I’ll just collect a flock of Pidove and let ‘em get zapped so I’m a real team player, yeah?”

“You know bloody well that isn’t what I meant,” Piers said darkly. “Watch yourself, got it? Only a matter of time before the season ends and Gyms get evaluated in the off-season. You’ve skated by this long, but your attitude’s gotten real rotten this time ‘round. One freak to another- you gotta show some sportsmanship ‘fore you’re voted out.”

Piers stood without giving Beau a chance to respond. They glared at his retreating back and pushed back the shadows that seemed to close in to fill the void he left.

Despite Beau’s needling, Piers’s warning turned over in their mind. They liked being a Gym Leader. The showmanship, the challenge, and– naturally– the wins. They trained hard with their Pokemon, spent hours upon hours a day training and caring for them. A large part of their drive to win was to give them that chance to show off, to be seen and praised and applauded alongside himself. If they were to lose that, they weren’t sure what they would do.

But, to sacrifice themself, to shrink down and recede into the background… it wasn’t something they were even sure how to do, let alone for tens of hundreds of kids and the millions of watching fans that packed the stadiums and stayed glued to their screens every season. They wouldn’t shave off an inch of themself for anyone.

Angry and annoyed, Beau left the cheery warmth of the restaurant for the cool night air that seemed more in line with their thoughts.

Meet the gang

Part 4: Paisley,

If there's one member of my team with the drive and power to knock out an entire team, it's Paisley. Whether prince or pauper, whether thou be a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker, you're dead meat. I'm not even sure if he's packing any venom or this little guy is so powerful, fairy pokemon don't wanna stand back up, lest they enrage the gorey geck.

Nevertheless, Paisley has been with me since... oh boy, how long has it been? I guess it's been eight years, back when I was still figuring out who I was. You see, I was recently discouraged from studying psychology, as the eggshell walls and fluorescent lights played havoc with my head. So, I found myself outdoors. And the outdoors led me to an eccentric group.

I won't speak much on this group, as I don't want to draw attention to people who'd rather remain faceless, but it was a cosplay organisation. It was there, in the mild galarian sun, with goggles and a morning jacket, I met a lost little scraggy. Quite the curious fellow, he fashioned some galvantula silk into two suspenders, keeping the lad's trousers up whilst he voraciously ate a lollypop.

Upon asking around the site, I found out his name was Paisley, a scraggy that accompanies the group on their travels, fashioning odd outfits and vehemently recreating fight scenes... with surprising accuracy. In return, the little geck finds their home in the fellow cosplayer's houses and food from whatever the people can muster.

So, I found myself with this little cosplayer. Now, this was long before George, Hullabaloo, and Bjarki, so I had ample time to assist in the little guy's odd behaviour. One year, we went as a mad scientist (Paisley rather enjoyed the jacket) with their monstrous zombie (I still think I have some fake stitches on me), another a witch and their voodoo doll! After a while, we did a piers and scrafty costume, where Paisley agreed to be my second pokemon in my team (my first being an applin, who passed not long ago), and we were officially a trio.

Eventually, we realised something. I only made these costumes to intrigue others, to scare and amaze; and Paisley only did it for food and shelter. So, after finding amazement in the wild world, we left the group in hopes of becoming reptile experts.

Evolution never entered my mind, but one day, Paisley grew a magnificent crest as spiky as a togedemaru's behind and twice as deadly. As well as that, he gained a horrific defence mechanism; weaponised head-banging (a tool he still uses against tyranitars today). And so, the rest is history. Paisley is a bit quieter now, deciding to talk with his head than his sewing kit, but we still sew patches from time to time. Maybe someday I'll show you his battle jacket!

Somedays I think about those halycon days, playing dress up and telling stories. Personally, I don't think I ever gave that up, just put on a new coat of paint. I used to tell stories of Kings and Queens, nowi just tell stories of grafaiais and sandacondas. But oh well.

since SIF shut down (I am gonna make a dif post abt it, I'm just catching up on sleep from basically staying up for 3 days straight lol) I've been putting all my time and energy into trying to get the Battle Tree Master Ribbon on AQUA in Ultra Moon (doing double battles).

I've been able to consistently get to battle 28-30 (with my highest battle streak being 32) from half paying attention to the battles. I know I should replace Dragon Tail with something else, but idk what with. Hidden Power on Cresselia was supposed to be Fire, but I forgot to check the IV's of it before saving, so idk if I can fix that or if I should replace it with another move.

if anybody has any good suggestions on what to replace Dragon Tail and Hidden Power with I would love the help!!! (and if maybe doing the Battle Tree in Moon would be easier??)

the strat I've been using is sending out Golisopod and MBlastoise first, swapping out Golisopod to Togedemaru if the opposing Pokemon knows any electric type moves, and Cresselia is supposed to be used for Calm Mind + Psyshock spam against strong opponents, but I've mostly been using her when AQUA faints or gets swapped in by the opponent.

Hybrid Wardens AU

You can make whatever content you wish for/inspired by/based on this AU. Please beware of PLA spoilers.

So Wardens huh? The people selected for nobles are meant to protect them. What if there was more to becoming a warden however? What if noble pokemon had an extra power?

(Most stuff under the cut)

Noble pokemon are perfectly capable of protecting themselves, but just incase they need extra help, & the warden's own pokemon doesn't cut it, them the warden themself will be the backup.

Noble pokemon have the power to turn their own chosen into hybrids of human & pokemon, giving them typings & some features of the pokemon they're hybrids of & the power to learn moves, but they keep every benifit of being human.

When wardens become hybrids, the pokemon they gain the DNA of have typings that either resist, are immune to, or are super effective against most (if not all) typings the noble pokemon are weak to. This is just incase the noble's weaknesses are a concern.

(Listen man, idk anything about pokemon battles, please ignore any holes in my logic for now).

Since this is a power granted by Arceus & the god can do whatever they want, some wardens can be hybrids of pokemon that never even touched Hisui or are variants that don't exist yet.

When nobles become hybrids, they start off as the 1st stage of the evolution line, & if they want to get stronger, they have to train to get stronger & evolve. (Or use items depending on the pokemon).

Here's the pokemon I'd make each warden a hybrid of:

Sabi could become a Sandile hybrid, a hybrid that's pure fighting type, or a pancham hybrid.

IDK about Gaeric, but I think I'd make him become part ferroseed w/ how many resistances & the immunity that pokemon has. I could also do a grass fighting hybrid Gaeric since those pokemon resist or take nuetral damage to all of Avalugg's weaknesses (unlike Ferroseed who is also weak to fighting), but grass fighting mons have way more weaknesses.

Melli would be a pure rock type, perferably 1 that can learn a psychic or ground type move. If he wound up a Roggenrola hybrid though, how would he become a Gigalith hybrid?

For Ingo, I think it'd only be appropriate to make him a Dark/Ice sneasel hybrid that eventually becomes a weavile hybrid given that he's from the future.

Iscan was also difficult to decide but I'd go w/ any pokemon that is/becomes Dark/Grass. I could've make him an exception to the evolution rule & make him a Shedinja, which would make him immune to grass & electric attacks, but he'd be fucked even more than his lord when it comes to ghost & dark attacks. I could have Iscan end up a Sandy Cloaked Wormadam, but Im gonna be real I don't like the Burmy line at all sans Mothim.

I'd make Palina a Morelull or Cottonee hybrid. Fairy/Grass types have less weaknesses & a full blown immunity over Psychic/Grass types.

Arezu is turned into an Aron or Shieldon hybrid.

Calaba is also difficult to decide, I think I'd make her a hybrid of a  grass/fighting type or instead of fighting, I'd do psychic or fairy. This 1 is a headscratcher & my 2 braincells can only do so much.

Mai I'd say becomes a togepi hybrid. Look at those immunities & resistances! Also if she has Serene Grace, whoooo!

Last but not least, Lian, who would do good as a grass/fighting type but three is too many, so instead he either becomes a Togedemaru or Magnemite hybrid.

Some additional questions idk how to answer myself:

How the does this affect the way people view wardens?

Is the change sudden? Slow & steady, or is the speed of transformation different for everyone?

Does every warden get instincts of the pokemon they're hybrids of?

Since some wardens are hybrid of pokemon that aren't known to Hisui, how will people react when wardens become hybrids w/ once unkown pokemon?

Does this knowledge survive to become known history to modern Sinnoh?

Starlight Express but it’s Pokemon Pt.1

So while playing Legends: Arceus earlier, and while listening to StEx because this show has taken ahold of my fixations, I had the random idea of coming up with Pokemon teams for as many characters from Starlight Express as I could.

Staring with Rusty, of course. I imagine him to be a Rock type specialist. His team is (from top left to bottom right): - Lycanroc, Minior, Carbink, Coalossal, Corsola, and Amaurus. - Lycanroc, because he has that golden retriever energy and also I feel like Rusty would love to have a dog companion while working shifts. - Coalossal, because he’s a Steam Engine and could probably benefit from a coal buddy - Amaurus, due to it being a fossil Pokemon, he probably feels a connection with them due to Steamers being considered old - Minior and Corsola, because they’re small pink cute Rock-types that remind him of his partner Pearl. Corsola also probably helps provide his boiler with water. - Carbink, as a small diamond in the rough just like Rusty :)

Next one I did, Greaseball! I immediately figured Steel-type Pokemon fit him best. His team is (from top left to bottom right): - Lucario, Scizor, Togedemaru, Steelix, Bisharp, and Duraludon. - As a whole his team is generally consisting of faster Steel types, apart from Steelix, which he probably has for intimidation purposes. - I felt Bisharp was an interesting addition as it’s a Steel/Dark type, in reference to the shady acts he pulls off during the Championships such as his gang beating up Rusty - Lucario is probably a training buddy for him due to being much more humanoid, and also probably a good Pokemon to help ground GB when he gets too egotistical. - Togedemaru is ironically the least intimidating member of his team, and yet it’s the fastest. It was likely a gift from Dinah that people question WHY he kept because it’s not tough or menacing. GB however actually really loves it and takes very good care of the smol ball.

And lastly, the superstar himself, Electra! I would have to be blind to not give him an Electric-type speciality. Their team is the definition of “gotta go fast” lmao Their team is (from top left to bottom right): - Shiny Furfrou, Pom-Pom Oricorio, Alolan Raichu, Jolteon, Zebstrika, and Boltund. - Jolteon, Zebstrika, and Boltund are all pure Electric-type Pokemon in reference to Electra himself being a pure-bred Electric Engine. - Pom-Pom Oricorio is Electric/Flying and while it’s the slowest member of the team, I added it because it’d be an excellent hype-Pokemon whenever Electra makes an entrance. - Alolan Raichu was added in reference to his magnetism capabilities. I know the obvious pick is to go for one of the Magnemite line since they’re literal MAGNETS, but they didn’t really fit the team aesthetic and are kind of slow, so the Electric/Psychic Alolan Raichu was added instead since psychic powers are close enough. - And lastly the non-Electric of the team, Furfrou. Probably a special pet gifted to him at some point, it’s incredibly loyal and is a Pokemon known for being owned by elites and royalty. It’s also a shiny Pokemon, making it VERY rare, fitting for the superstar. Electra probably has its fur styled regularly to make sure it’s in the best condition possible.

I plan to do some more of these in the future because they’re VERY fun to make. Maybe I’ll do some for the 2018 Update characters too like Elektra and BV. :D

Gordie suddenly stopped in his tracks as a message from his good friend kept him from pacing down his hallway for the twentieth time.

Raihan: ayyyy mate

Raihan: you ready for that camping date w lilac??

Gordie’s cheeks flushed at the word ‘date’.

Gordie: Raihan it’s not a date, she wouldn’t wanna go on a date with me.

Raihan: nah she totally would. have you seen the way she acts around you?

Raihan: I’m proud of ya son

Gordie: shut up

Raihan: also she sees the way you act around her, you know

Raihan: sooo its obv she has feelings for you mate.

Gordie turned his head away from his Rotom Phone, not looking at the text to make himself calm down; he definitely had feelings for her, but, could he really have his hopes up like that? That she liked him back?

Gordie: I’m just glad she accepted my offer to hang out with me tbh

Raihan: mhmm... ‘hang out’

Raihan: so you two could smooch in the stony wilderness eh

Gordie: stop making this romantic raihan

Raihan: why? because you can’t accept the truth? lol

Gordie: ugh

Gordie: just don’t make me nervous before this. it’s really big for me

Raihan: i got you bro! you’re gonna do great.

Raihan: she loves your pokemon (and you) I can tell.

Raihan was right at that. Ever since the Gym Challenge that made them Gym Leaders, Lilac always showed interest towards Gordie’s Pokémon team. It was probably the only interest towards his Pokémon then, but it continued on to their careers as Gym Leaders, and that’s what he loved.

Gordie: thanks, mate. i’m about to get into a flying taxi to head over now. see you :]

Raihan: my man’s gonna get a gf!!!!! good luck out there lad!

Gordie had just finished setting up the campsite in the Stony Wilderness when he heard a Corviknight squawking and flapping its wings nearby. He knew it was Lilac’s taxi, and began to walk up to the seating area he set up for them, which was a tree trunk he found nearby that his Tyranitar carried over for him (such a strong guy, Tyranitar!). 

And before he even knew it, Lilac poked her head around the corner of the two stones that were just behind the trunk bench, smiling.

“Gordie!” she greeted him. Gordie involuntarily gave her a beam, hugging her. It was a tight hug, but not too tight: like a big Beartic hug saved just for her. After all, he couldn’t really help but feel anxious in a peculiar homesick way whenever the two couldn’t see each other at work. 

“Hey, Lils! How have you been?” he said, trying not to trip over his words already as he heard his heart beat against his chest. “You find your way here alright with the cabbie?” 

“It was fine! The guy even mentioned he liked this place quite a bit. Said it was a great location for a d- uh, you know, just a nice campfire with your Pokémon!”

Gordie laughed in agreement, but wondered about the cabbie knowing about their date; if he knew, the news could spread out to the public and everyone could know, including his mum of all people...! (Not that she didn’t know they had ‘unrequited’ feelings for each other anyways.)

They both heard the low, neutral growls of Gordie’s Pokémon, looking behind them to see the whole team clamoured around them both in a circle.

“Oh, they’ve noticed you’re here now, eh?” he said, turning around to face his team. “Alright, you lot. Lilac’s here, okay? She’s gonna be camping with us, so all of you on your best behaviour around her!” 

Lilac grinned to herself at that statement, comparing it to Gordie instructing a bunch of mischievous kids like he was a teacher. But, she always knew his team could be mischievous like little kids themselves, including Shuckle, who was quite fussy over PokéDolls. And, to be fair, her team was playful in their own ways as well. 

Lilac sent out her Pokémon with each Poké Ball’s signature zap, releasing her team for a play outside with Gordie’s. Pikachu looked around at the Rock-type Pokémon, inquisitive as the rest of her team went out on the grassy field to play.

“I’m surprised Pikachu let me put her in her ball,” she stated. “but she loves to play with Coalossal, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was for him!”

Gordie felt his cheeks heat up; maybe it was such a simple statement, but the fact even her Pokémon were in a good relationship with his seemed like pure happiness, like everyone was getting along... Even with all the Gym Battles they’d been paired up with, Pikachu and Coalossal seemed like Poké Buddies, through Gigantamax and thin.

Gordie cleared his throat to distract from his now very rosy cheeks. “How about you take a seat? I’m gonna make curry for all of us, I’m sure we have enough for two teams!”

“That sounds lovely! Thanks, Gordie.” she replied, sitting down on the trunk and propping her cane up against the side of it, consoling her shy Togedemaru as Gordie came over to his curry-making pot to set up his ingredients.

In her eyes, Gordie always made the best curry for her. He once made her Moomoo Cheese-Covered Curry at work and fell in love with his cooking skill since; if she married him or moved in with him it would mean all the best meals for her and their Pokémon in the World...

When everyone had finished their curry, Gordie and Lilac sat on the trunk as their Pokémon played together. It was like watching their - quite large if taken both figuratively and literally - family run around in the park as a married couple.

 Lilac quickly scratched those thoughts out of her mind; what was she thinking already acting like she was married to Gordie...? A breeze came across their faces and Lilac sighed, trying to distract from the ridiculous daydream she had. There was another question on her mind, ever since she arrived at the Stony Wilderness.

“Gordie?”

“Hm?” Gordie perked up from the sudden question from them being so silent as they relaxed.

“Do you think... Coalossal likes me? Like, doesn’t hate me or whatever?” she puffed out, cheeks in her hands.

“No, I don’t think so. I think none of my team dislike you in any way. How come you ask that, Lils?”

“He’s been staring at me for a while...” 

Gordie turned around to see Coalossal gazing at Lilac from afar with somewhat confused and focused eyes. If he’d ever seen eyes like those, he just wanted to play with Lilac.

Gordie got up from his seat and started calling for Coalossal. 

Coalossal let out a dim roar as he walked to Lilac, yet his footsteps were so powerful and loud against the soft grass. It shook Lilac to her very core, holding onto Gordie and then freezing in place when she tried to escape.

“Gordie! He’s mad at me-!”

“Don’t worry, it’s okay, he’s coming over with me here...!”

When Coalossal let the last booms of his footstep echo throughout the field, he was dangerously near Lilac when she spotted something in his hands...

A ball. 

“Ah?” Lilac exclaimed. Coalossal gave her a happy expression, a cheerful rumble coming out of him as he leaned in to give her the ball with his large, yet hilariously stubby arms. Shuckle patted her ankle with one of his strange, limp arms, calming her with little ‘shuckle-shuckle’ sentences of his. It was a weird, but a very reassuring feeling.

“You scared her a little, Coalossal! Next time you wanna play, go up to her nicely this time, alright?” Gordie chortled with a wide smile on his face. Coalossal replied with a purl and Lilac threw the ball for Coalossal when she had finally unfroze. The same pounding footsteps continued as Coalossal chased after the ball, catching it to play with Barbaracle and Boltund, with Boltund yapping away. 

Lilac laughed at herself for being so silly around Coalossal, and turned to Gordie. At this point, she became quite fixated on him; she noticed how reassuring and motivating he was, especially recently around one of his main and very intimidating Pokémon. She didn’t notice she was staring until he looked himself into her eyes. His cute eyes. Her cute eyes, he thought.

“Gordie?” she asked again, but with an explicitly more shy tone. “You know, I think I like you too.” 

Gordie inhaled a sharp breath as a wave of relief swept over him from the amount of tension he had experienced, tense over whether or not she liked him.

“Really?”

“Yeah... Y-Yeah, I do. You’re...”

Their heads moved in close together, a move completely involuntary, but a move needed to break the feeling of unrequited feelings between each other.

“You’re...”

A loud cry from Pikachu startled both of them, when they peeked together at what made her do that, Shuckle was cradling her like one of his PokéDolls. 

“No! No, Shuck- I’m so sorry, Li- Shuckle, that is not one of your PokéDolls! That’s Lils’ Pikachu! Drop her now!”

Lilac watched on as Shuckle cried out in retaliation, disappointed that they were interrupted so suddenly, but still amused at how much of a toddler Shuckle acted like. She leaned down, petting her Togedemaru, returning to near her legs.

“That’s Gordie’s team for you, isn’t it, sweet?”

So I really enjoy SWSH. I have my issues with it, Dexit and the removal of the GTS and any sort of ‘request a specific Pokemon’ replacement trade method are my main problems. But hey, you know what I’m gonna talk about here? Pokemon that SHOULD have been in Sword/Shield but AREN’T. 

This isn’t based on personal bias, more based on the setting and the THEME of the game (which is climate/energy crisis, environmental threats ect.) 

Lillipup, Herdier and Stoundland: They are Yorkshire Terriers. Y’know, a breed of dog originating in the UK.

Bagon, Shelgon and Salamence: Salamence is the most traditional western-style dragon inspired Pokemon we have. Yet it’s somehow not here. 

Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot:  Pidgey is, well, a pigeon. It’s evos look like combinations of a few birds of prey, of which there are many in the UK. 

Rockruff & Lycanroc:  it’s a puppy/wolf. Wolves are extinction in the UK now BUT we have been reintroducing them in small numbers in the borderlands. It would’ve been perfect to have it as a low encounter Pokemon on one specific route or part of the Wild Area. 

Klefki: it’s literally based on Celtic folk stories of Fae being responsible for keys/other valuables that seemingly disappear out of nowhere.

Snubbull & Granbull:  based on the English Bulldog and the Cù-sìth, a fairy-dog from Scottish folklore. How is it NOT in these games? 

Houndour & Houndoom:  I’m not intentionally putting all the dog Pokemon on here I swear but... Black Shuck?? Church Grim?? Hello???

Deerling & Sawsbuck: The fact there is no deer Pokemon in these games despite the UK’s massive problem with deer overpopulation (because we wiped out their natural predators hundreds of years ago) is frankly criminal. 

Ducklett & Swanna: The fact the only swan Pokemon isn’t in these games given the titbit everyone knows about all the swans in England belonging to the Queen is, also, frankly criminal. 

Pachirisu: It’s a SQUIRREL. I get they made a new pair of squirrels but really, you couldn’t fit the more fitting Pikachu clone into the region but could fit Togedemaru? 

Grimer & Muk: It’s so weird to have the other two Pokemon that make up the pollution trio but not the water pollution one. Especially when Galarian Corsola’s existence comes from damage done to the OCEAN. But the Pokemon inspired by toxic sludge and water pollution isn’t here? Excuse me? 

Mareep, Flaaffy & Ampharos: Okay... really... could you only have ONE sheep Pokemon?! They would’ve made so much sense given the different uses for their wool and the fact Ampharos is basically an organic power/light source and is used in other regions to act as a light house beacon. There are so many sheep in the UK. Wales specifically has more sheep per person than any other country barring New Zealand. GIVE US THE SHEEP. 

Absol: It’s a Pokemon that senses disaster and danger. It would’ve been so fitting in a game whose themes revolve around the energy crisis and environmental disaster. 

So yeah, there’s a handful of Pokemon I think SHOULD have been in these games based on their design, origin and/or in-game lore. Obviously I think every Pokemon should’ve been able to be at least transferred into the game if it wasn’t actively available in Galar, but this is my selection of ‘Game Freak really dropped the ball on this one, huh?’ Pokemon.

Gym Challenge 5 - Opal

This gym challenge is really dumb imo. It asks very easy questions with a few not so trick questions and it gives you boost in battle just for getting them right? I guess they tried to make it creative...

The battle itself was easy, BeardBro handled it all himself. Very easy....so uh...yeah. I got the Fairy Badge with minimal efffort. Let’s move forward!

Hammerlocke

The scene with Opal and Bede is probably the only interesting cutscene in the entire game...

More dialogue with Sonia and Leon with an explosion but don’t worry just continue your gym challenge that’s the most important thing!

Before moving forward I’m gonna head back to the wild area to catch some more Pokémon! I box BeardBro now that GurrenLagann knows heavy slam and bring Stuff’n back to the team.

Wild Area - Dusty Bowl

I run into the grass and encounter...an Applin?Definitely wasn’t expecting that but I’ll take it!

Turns out Applin is basically useless until it evolves, which isn’t exactly easy. According to google the only guaranteed to way to get a Tart Apple is to give your Applin away to an NPC...and the odds of me catching another one are slim. I’ll check out the Battle Cafes in Motostoke and Hammerlocke to see if I can’t get one as a reward.

Hammerlocke is a dud. Let’s try Motostoke...

No luck at Motostoke either, sorry Wormy, looks like it wasn’t meant to be. 😭 Apparently I can farm for one in Axew’s Eye after getting the bike upgrade so maybe it’ll work out later Wormy! Boxing him for now.

Route 8 kinda makes up for how short 7 was..

Togedemaru is my first encounter here, but Sombra lands a critical hit and knocks it out. I’m not too tore up about it.

Lots of Gurdurr here and too tight of corners to evade them. I had a close call when one landed a Dynamic Punch on Sombra.

Oooof, I lost my first Pokémon....to sandstorm no less. In a double battle Perrserker managed to get off 5 fury swipes leaving TootieFruity with 4 HP, leaving her in sandstorm range before I had a chance to heal her. RIP TootieFruity, you served me well!

I’ll be replacing TootieFruity with Microdose for the time being.

Part two of Route 8...does this count as a new area?? I’m gonna say no and continue onto Circhester.

Gym Challenge 6 - Gordie

I love this gym design, gives me Sootopolis vibes and Toph Beifong would appreciate it.

Gordie didn’t stand a chance against Microdose and Sombra. Microdose took care of Barbacle and put Shuckle to sleep with Spore, allowing Sombra to come in for the sweep. And with that, I now own the Rock badge. Meaning I can now evolve my pokemon a second time!

After the gym there’s some more dialogue with Sonia, yay.

Ya know the story of this game has a lot of potential but the narrative style that’s always like “oh but don’t worry, just finish your gym challenge!” really gets in the way of it. With the lore of the Galar region I feel an evil team like Team Plasma could’ve helped a lot. But no...let’s focus on the gym challenge and make the villains a group of fan boys 🤷‍♂️

Hop challenges me to a battle cause he’s a secret masochist and we’re teleported to Route 8 cause making a city background on the switch is hard :/

Stuff’n and GurrenLagann have great synergy together, though Corviknight did pose a bit of a problem cause the threat of Drill Peck wouldn’t allow a safe switch into SpicyNoodle.

My first encounter here is one of my favorite Pokémon, Mareanie! I named him Spike and boxed him for now.

Wild Area - Lake of Outrage

Learned the hard way this area is still too high level, but I managed to take down a Turtonator with GurrenLagann.

Did more training and Witch Bitch evolved into Hatterene!

Wild Area - Axew’s Eye

I checked the tree in the Axew’s Eye for Tart Apple and wouldn’t you know, there is one! Swapping out Microdose for Wormy and evolving him!

Gonna train up my new team a bit and call it a night!

Final Note:

One casualty but still feel pretty mehh about the difficulty. Even with the restrictions and challenges I placed on myself like gym badges and evolving ive found this game is still very easy. The shared experience is definitely an undermine to the classic Nuzlocke run. Either way I’m enjoying the run and it’s getting down to the nitty gritty. I’ll pick it back up tomorrow, and possibly finish?

This is the continuation of my XY project, this time some crucial “bugfixes” for Team Rocket’s writing and pacing during Sun and Moon series. In SM they were written brilliantly with quality and creativity, unfortunately there were still some disconcerting issues when it comes to continuity between BW-XY / SM and SM / new series. Now they’re fixed and all those problems can be considered solved. The flow between SM and Pokemon 2019 is pretty nice too! (I managed to fix the awful Matori episode, now they don’t turn traitors so there is no reason for Giovanni to be angry with them).

in a Egyptian Pokémon region, the starters would be based on a snake, (the fire starter) a crane, (the grass starter) and a hippo. (The water starter) what do you think?

Here are my ideas for an Egypt based region:

Obviously we want some kind of wadjet snake pokemon and a crocodile and a hippo bc those are very prominent animals in Egyptian mythology, so right on with that. But I wanted to use animals that were sacred in a positive light (ones that weren't respected partly out of fear) as inspiration for the starter pokemon (because all of those above have certain negative connotations even if they also have good ones). So my choice of starters would be:

Jackal (fire/ghost)

Cow/ram/gazelle fusion (grass/rock)

Ibis (water/flying)

I had other starter ideas but unfortunately they were too conceptually similar to other extant pokemon (a cat fire type or a lion fire type; a primate grass type, a fire/flying bird of prey, etc.)

Stuff I would like to see in this region:

Camel pokemon (lankier than camerupt and rideable), maybe with some giraffe mixed in

Giant "Giza sphinx" type stature except it's based on the jackal starter bc originally what we know irl as the Sphinx of Giza was actually a jackal statue that got damaged enough on the head that they had to recarve the head into something smaller and without a long face (which is why it is so disproportionate to the body size)

Large desert areas that really push the player to their limit (the trickery of the desert area in SuMo comes to mind; sort of like ORAS but replace the water with sand) with beautiful oases dotting the map

Scarab pokemon

A fairy/water or water/ghost mirage pokemon that, similar to ditto, can appear as a pokemon it's not, but, like minior or mimikyu, drops its disguise after getting hit

Toad pokemon

Really hype up the legendaries for this region. Like really make their presence loom over the whole game so they don't feel like trophy hunting prizes at the end. Make them HARD to catch

Rhino pokemon

More puzzles! I miss puzzles!

Sphinx pokemon (maybe absol regional variant?)

Make me afraid of ghost pokemon again

Huge open marketplace area in late game major city areas

Aardwolf pokemon, or maybe a hyena one

Lots of hidden/secret areas--caves, mines, tombs, etc; a hidden oasis or one that's location/entrance constantly changes

A dark type pokemon with long ears and a split tail, based on whatever the fuck aesthetic Set was going for

Big river leading to delta and sea areas; a big contrast between this wet fertile landscape versus the arid desert it's surrounded by. Fun marsh areas with wading birds and water lilies, lots of reeds

An actual underground river maze beneath a pyramid/large tomb, filled with scary pokemon late into the game based on the hazardous initial journey to the afterlife and also the irl Colossus of Memnon maze/labyrinth and the maze of Amenemhet, which would lead you to a legendary. Would also have very strong giant water/dark snake pokemon in it (psuedo-legendary maybe)

SUCCULENT POKEMON

Bring back seasons and weather you cowards. It wouldn't be as hard to implement for a desert region!!

Crocodile/lion/hippo fusion pokemon based on Ammut (water/dark)

Large irrigated fields with different crops that attract different pokemon (special grass and tall grass, like how there are special flower colors for bushes)

Make incense more prominent like give it uses as a field item, such as attracting specific pokemon types, instead of it just being a hold item

Have berry trees you can plant at the oases. Make it big again like in ORAS. You could create an incense crafting mechanic that uses them, along with use in the cooking minigame they're introducing in gen 8

Softshell turtle pokemon

Touchscreen drawing game where you replicate glyph patterns to activate or unlock certain things

More interesting water pokemon that are viable competitively

Quail pokemon

More cool pokemon that hide in the sand like lizards, spiders, snakes, desert foxes, etc.

Return of rideable mudsdale

More unique *plant* pokemon that aren't just animals that have, like, some leaves taped to them

Bring back sky battles

Area in the sea similar to Cleopatra's sunken palace with ruins to explore using dive

More new cat pokemon (QUADRAPEDAL PLEASE)

GIVE US SOME NEW POKEBALLS!! And make other pokeball designs more easily accessible!

All different temples dedicated to different pokemon/themes

Make it a point to reward the player for not robbing people's graves. Reward the player for respecting the dead/the native culture and making offerings at the various temples. You could make it so that giving offerings to different temples gave you different temporary bonuses like how O-powers worked. Hell you could have one that just increases your luck both in battles and encounters.

MAKE THE VILLIAN TEAM A BUNCH OF WHITE COLONIAL/IMPERIALISTS ASSHOLES THAT ARE TRYING TO STEAL AS MANY CULTURAL ARTIFACTS AS THEY CAN. And/or a doomsday cult sort of like the one in The Mummy, with a corresponding small organization dedicated to stopping them

Pachirisu are a bit of horders... so make sure to know where their hiding places are for potentially forgotton food and hair balls. watch the hairballs... Shinx: this cutie pattootie is a bit of a runner! It likes energy and often stores it’s electricity in it’s legs. If it gets upset it get’s  a bit... blinding.  Luxio: no matter what it tells you with that pouty face it gets lonley easy. It might be good to have a few pokemon for it to feel at home... Watch those claws! Luxray: takes it’s family very serious but loves unconditionally. Try not to worry them it can see through anything so... well. Just try not to think about that in the restroom... Dedenne: This little one likes to talk to it’s friends whereever they are... through electricity. They can often sip electricity out of your wall outlets if they don’t have enough.... might want to invest in a raichu for it’s electrical needs...  Togedemaru: this lovely one is a good friend. If you can handle it. invest in bandages and rubber gloves for this friend. I’m sure they will love you just the same.  ... No loud sounds for this pokemon... Morkpeko: this soft friend has a bit of a temper when hungry. It’s naughty in nature. So keep it fed or don’t... but feel the wrath of hangryness... we have all been there... It loves seeds so keep a few around. maybe blinker seeds in case that side comes out...  Yamper: A very food motivated friend. Honestly we all know someone like this. Very loving friend either way. besides who can resist that cute face and tail wag? Boltund: After growing up a bit this good poke can run real fast. like... REal fast. might need to invest in some armor for walks now... incase this one is distracted and takes you on a bit of a drag instead of a walk.  --- Jolteon: Wow your pokemon found a friend! It seems to be weak... would you like to take care of this new pokemon? This friend is very emotional... but now that it has you it’s very thankful and greatful for everything. Even if it accidently shocks you. You know they don’t mean it.  Joltik: Yamper has found a little friend sticking to him. will you keep this new friend? (or: you have found a soft silky egg... with a nice buzzing sensation... will you care for the egg?: ((no: Let’s leave this at a pokemon center... they know what to do.)) ) This little pal is soft and fuzzy and often makes a nice static feeling. Often a good pair for raichus!  Galvantula: Our little pal has grown up big and strong. Often makes wonderful silky doilies and nets. You can sell them because often time they can make them everyday. after you de-electrify them.  Mareep: You found a little lost mareep! upon checking with any near by farms no one seems to own it. And It keeps following you... will you keep it?  This soft friend has wonderful wool that you can sell when it sheds it... The spots that missing wool is a sign it’s going to evolve soon...  Flaaffy: this cute friend makes a lovely night light. Although do you ever think it looks in the mirror and gets self concious about it losing it’s wool....? Probably not. Ampharos: enjoys watching TV with you. Often loves superhero shows. Has big dreams of being a hero. It’s favorite places to walk is in the forest and the beach.  Electrike: This poor pokemon can’t run as fast as the other electrike... Because of this it’s been abandoned... will you care for him...? Even though it’s not the fastest electrike... you have still decided you need to wear body armor during walks... to weigh it down... so you don’t go flying!  Manctric: your kind friend often needs trips to the power plant. It doesn’t mind. Sometimes the sneeky poke runs off to the powerplant without you... What they don’t know is that you don’t mind as long as the house doesn’t burn down...  ect...

Events:  Power up: head over to your local powerplant and get that excess electricity out! recieve poke(money) as payment!  Fruit picking: pick fruit off of trees for poke! Warning some fruit are amazing electrified. but some arn’t!  Contest time: Show how obedient your pokemon is in style and in the care you’ve given them!  Your home!: regular old house with many rubber surfaces, powerplant, fluffy clouds, futuristic neon house.  --- And other fun versions that I just don’t have the brain power to think of.  like  Eevee/normal type Fire friends water palace one iwth the forest edition spooky ghost fairy babies Fuck it master version with just ledgendarys and mythicals.  and you know the rest.  like fire types you have to stop them from.... laying in lava pockets in the mountains, regular house, fake volcano, cuddle crator, funky fake fire house.  water types: jumping contest!, race of the fastest, contest time,. House types: a house with a kiddy pool, a fake beach, under the ocean, a river, a lake, a pool, or a giant bathroom.  Bug contests: polination station, ect, ghost contests: creepy pasta~, halloween festival!, contest time! I hope you see what I’m trying to put down here. But will nintendo respond to this one single post? Probably not.WHY? I DoN’T KNOW. (probably because they’ll have to answer if pokemon poob or pee. I don’t know if they want to tackle that.)  This is my hot take.

Sun and Moon

So, just watched the last episode of the SM series, specifically the subbed cause I was waiting for it to come out so I could write this, making this the 6th fully completed series that I've watched of the pokeani, with XY, OS, Orange Islands, DP, and BW, which is the order that I watched them in cause I am chaos incarnate, but I've got to say, I thoroughly enjoyed every single episode that this series produced, which is a first given how I felt about the previous series, and I'm really glad that I experienced this as it was still continuing and not after the fact. From seeing Alola for the first time to seeing Brock and Misty show up to the Ultra Guardians to the Alolan League, I'm very glad that this series went the way that it went and chose to do things differently than other series did, and that's in part due to how the games had gone so yay. Guess I'll go over some of the highlights now.

The characters, my god, the characters really helped this show become an emotional rollercoaster both in joy and sadness.

Ash and Pikachu: The boy and his best friend are back and for the first time is in a mainly non-changing setting, taking a break from traveling while also exploring the Alolan region and all that it all has to offer. His training and experience is still there which was nice to see after XY, and his battling effeciency has definitely improved, with only a couple of loses here and there. Here it's almost as if they're both home, which is what Alola is all about, home and family, which allows them to both grow in ways we haven't seen them grow before. And let me say as someone who is a real big fan of electro ball, electro web is the perfect replacement for it, acting as a defensive move really helped provide some interesting combos in and out of battle, which really helped in the end. And let's not forget, seeing these two finally achieve their dream of winning a League after 22 years, it's a real heart warming moment, especially for those who have grown with this series since day 1 like me (more or less lol). This was a relaxing and reinvigorating journey for them, one they desperately needed and one that they deserved, along with all their accomplishments throughout.

Kukui and Burnet: Sure when Kukui was first introduced, I was a bit iffy on seeing him host Ash and Pikachu as it felt just a little bit weird, but seeing him grow into a father figure for Ash was something that I didn't know I needed, and with the introduction and later marriage of Burnet, it was also a great family relationship between everyone that we hadn't really gotten to see Ash experience due to his absent father and considerable amount of time away from his mother, and to see that just about every other character in the series acknowledge that Ash was a lot like Kukui was really heartwarming, even from people such as Guzma and Nanu. I hope we get to see more of these two and their family to-be in the new series.

Ash's Pokemon: I'm putting this all as one cause really, they were all great and this is the best way to say it, they were his closest 'Mons to date, with Ash putting as much love and care into their training as possible, and the results were a strong and reliable team that were also family. With Rowlet, it was a bond of listening and acceptance, wanting to stay as a basic evolution so he could stay in Ash's bag and sleep, Rockruff having a found a forever home and someone who helped to push him further with his limits and later his troubles in battling, Kitten finding trust again as well as someone with love forever, and being able to evolve due to that love and determination, Piople in a promise to return home, gaining a second home and family, and Meltan finding his place in the world, a best friend in Rolwet, and evolving to Melmetal, pushing as hard as he can for those he love. It really was/is everyone at their best and true-est. You also have the family pets with this setup in a bird, dog, and cat with a beautiful purple birb and metal protector. Seeing them stay in Alola, as much as it hurts, I think is the right choice for Ash to have made, for they're as much of a family to the professors as Ash was, and will continue to be, and I love that.

Kiawe: THIS FIRE BOY IS MY FAVORITE. I can not express how much this character has grown on me, especially within just the first season. At first, I thought he was going to be the serious-stick to the rules kinda guy, and I'm not a big fan of those, but then he started to lighten up, episode by episode, and then came the Dugtrio episode, and from there on out, he was my favorite. He's just written really well, super funny especially with his expressions, and overall a lot like Ash, but more focused on responsibilities. Not to mention, he's loyal to everyone, as seen in the Tapu Fini arc, which is one of my favorite episodes/arcs. All of his Pokemon were great too, Turtanator especially, as much as I love both his Marowak and Charizard, I feel that Turtanator was his best, in both personality and relationship wise, not to mention he was just to cute. Seeing him working on becoming an Island Kahuna is really befitting of his character as he greatly respects traditions and is the perfect role model for any youngin looking to be a challenger or trainer.

Lillie and family: So much growth, and so much more to go I feel, Lillie was a real great character to add in and I'm so glad that they went in a different direction than what the game had held and her overall arch from being someone who was afraid to touch a Pokemon, to now wanting to set off to find her father, truely a beautiful story, and her mother and brother also were great characters in their own right, as both supportive and riverly and both fueling her desire to become better than before, it's great to see the theme of family carry over into what is the supporting cast, making them feel more important than ever and I love it. Her relationship with her Vulpix (Snowy) was really touching and watching them both grow was more so. And seeing her be able to reunite with Magearna and by extension, her father through memory was so heartbreaking, I really hope we get to see the conclusion to their trip. As for Lusamine, I'm again, really glad they went a different route with her, making her a caring yet grieving mother instead of a careless one, and she was a definite highlight whenever on screen. And Gladion was just as much so, seeing him loosen up throughout the series was a blessing and reuniting with his father's Zoroark was just as heartbreaking, but seeing him in the semi-finals of the league, bursting with laughter with Ash at the amount of fun they were having, was really sweet and so in character with who he had become. Again, I really hope we get to see the conclusion to their trip to find Mohn.

Lana: She's the Meme Queen and my second favorite of the cast. Her constant joking contradicts her almost serious tone and allows her to be one of the most humorous of the cast, and I love it. While she didn't have to many arcs throughout the series, she was a strong Battler and fought for what was right no matter the risk, and I like that. Her dedication to making sure everyone was okay and safe while at the same time having fun was a neat touch. Her Poplio was also pretty fun, and seeing it evolve into a Brionne and later Primarima was a great growth to someone who was seen on the lower side of the spectrum in regards to power, and now it holds the spot of one the more powerful Pokemon within the group. And the addition of her Eevee (Sandy) is just heartwarming, and that haircut is to freaking adorable. Time will hopefully tell if it'll evolve or not, and I hope we do see that come to fruition, along with the search for Manaphy. Overall a joy of a character.

Mallow: An aspiring chef while not that much of a goal, was definitely a new direction to go in regards to a menu for both people and Pokemon, but I feel her growth came most in the form of both her Bounsweet and Tapu Fini arc, in how her Bounsweet evolved to help their friends, which is derived from her wanting to help others as much as possible, which I find to be perfect. And the Tapu Fini arc, well I guess it's more of an episode, really explores the trauma that she faced when she lost her mother and her regrets of having said things that shouldn't be said, and later gratitude for her mother leading to a Shamin appearing before her was really one of the most heartbreaking parts of this whole series, and even in writing this I was beginning to tear up. And while Shamin has now left, I do think it's message has remained in that one should be grateful for all that is now in the moment instead of grieving on the past forever, to make amends were possible, and to look to better the future, hence the Human/Pokemon menu/resutsrant she's hoping to bring to life. A great amount of growth in such a short time, this is a goal again I hope we get to see sometime in the future, as she's the only one to stay in Alola (unless Kiawe is as well which not to sure on that).

Sophocles: Easily the most panicked of the group, it was great to see him find his footing whenever he could and stand his ground, and improve his battling skills, which was really a testament to just how smart he his. Little by little, he has grown into a stronger and braver person and I love that. His Togedemaru was also the funniest Pokemon throughout the whole series next to Turtanator I think, and seeing him grow with his Chargabug and later Vikavolt was really something special. Becoming an Astronaut is also something that his growth has led him to be able to do, as the journey to space requires a lot of training to become stronger to overcome the effects of zero-g and as well as bravery to venture out that far, and just like with everyone else, fits him perfectly. And as much anxiety as he has, he's always been able to overcome it, be it with the help of his Pokemon or his friends, it's really admirable. What's more to say about him? He's going to achieve great things just like Clermont before him I believe.

Team Rocket Gang: I think this is the most that I've liked them in a long time, mainly due to them not causing as much trouble as before, and that's thanks to Bewear, who was able to change them into less-troublesome people and I hope we see that carry over into the new series, and eventually see them leave TR for good to start their own lives for better and worse. Mimikyu and Mareanie were also great highlights in both their personalities and abilities, and seeing them be left behind with Bewear and Stuffle feels right even though it hurts just as much. I will certainly miss bear mom.

Rotom-Dex: A character I initially didn't like, turned out to have grown on me, and I'm glad he was there, as he was like a brother to Ash in a sense, and was a bit of comic relief at times, a I enjoy him a lot more than his debut which is good. I'm sad to see him go as I was hoping that was him in the SwiSh promo images, but who knows, maybe it is. I would certainly hope to see him again in the future. As for now, him mapping out a new land is a good fit for him, and he deserves his job.

Honorable mentions

Hau: His voice is perfect. His desire to become better is pure, and while untrained, he's got a lot of potential for sure. I really hope we get to see him again

Guzma: A perfect antagonist, who only appeared in like what, 10 episodes? but I wish we had more of him to be able to grow with, cause there's potential there for it. Here's hoping that we get a more informative conclusion to him in the future.

The stories: From being in a school, to saving a second reality, this has got to be one of the best written series for Pokemon. Starting off in a primary location and slowly visiting each and every other island was a new approach and I'm glad that it was done as such, cause again it greatly highlights the familial aspects of it all, and how much Alola means to the people and Pokemon that inhabit it. If I had to choose my favorite arc, it would probably be the Tapu Fini arc (Poni Island arc, as I'm now remembering what it's actually called) as it greatly highlights all of the characters and allows them to grow in their own, as well as mess with our emotions and I'm all about being forced to cry. That, and the Alolan League Arc, it's just so rewarding to see Kukui's dream come true, and as a result to see one of Ash and Pikachu's biggest dreams come true, not to mention that Pikachu vs Tapu Koko battle is so beautifully animated. Seeing this class become closer and closer was truely something that Pokemon hadn't tried as hard to do before, and I'm really glad they were able to do it here. And again, by changing the format of traveling to staying mainly stationary, you get a sense of home with Kukui's house as resting place, the Pokemon School as a daily experience, the city as a whole as a part of something close. Again, it's something Pokemon was missing and again, I'm glad they were able to do it right by this. If there were any negatives that I had, I guess it would have to be A. The promotional material for when this was first starting up didn't do it justice, as it put me off from watching this, and I hate that, cause this is all great. B. Would have to be that we weren't able to see any of Ash's previous companions return like Brock and Misty or even experience their reactions to Ash finally becoming a Regional Champion, but hopefully we'll be able to see that with this new series.

The animation: OH MY GOD IT'S THE BEST. This is some of the best that the series has ever produced and I'll be hard pressed to say I don't think it can ever be topped. Especially with the final league battle, Pikachu vs Tapu Koko, seriously one of the best fights ever. There are also so many hilarious facial features that this art style was able to pull off and I thank the people responsible for that because I still get a lot of good laughs from them, I really don't think any of it could have been pulled off with the BW/XY art style, as much as I love that one, I feel that this is truely superior.

Z-moves: I was wondering how this would be handled as in the games, the z-crystal acts as a held item for the Pokemon, and it seems to not be the case here, as shown with Rowlet and his Everstone, which I like, along with that as epic as the move name appearing on screen whenever the z-moves is performed, I do like it not being there in the dub. Also seeing that only one z-moves can be performed unless with assistance from the Tapu's was a nice touch too. As far as favorite z-moves goes, it has to be either Gaurdian of Alola, or 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt, my gosh those two are so beautiful looking and good and just seeing them clash was aaaaaaah, the best thing ever. I hope they can treat Dynamaxing right just as they did Z-moves.

Overall: This is my favorite Poke series to date, topping out the previous holder of XY, with how much love and attention was put into it, the overall result is one that anyone can jump into and instantly fall in love with. I highly recommend this series to any and everyone, it's just that good. I also recommend listening to the Japanese songs cause they kick ass so much omg. Like, Type: Wild, is my jam right now omg. A perfect 100 across the board. Really sad it came to an end, but grateful that it happened. Here's to SwiSh, hope you can be just as good.
