I saw a tweet discussing unpopular Pokémon that people like (@/DougDinsdale on twitter) and I wanted to talk about mine

I really like Hypno

It started in a SoulSilver nuzlocke I started last year with a Drowzee I got named Pants and honestly? He's carried

I think they get a bad rep because of their FireRed dex entry: "It carries a pendulum-like device. There once was an incident in which it took away a child it hypnotized." Honestly in the grand scheme of things, this is really tame in terms of dex entries for other Pokémon and we've just been mean to this guy. Yeah taking kids isn't good but it's stated to be AN incident, as in ONE. One rouge Hypno's actions shouldn't count for all of them, especially since the Ultra Moon entry exists: "There are some Hypno that assist doctors with patients who can't sleep at night in hospitals."

These guys can be great support/service Pokémon! They eat dreams which can help people who suffer from chronic nightmares. Plus, going back to the FireRed entry, kids have crazy dreams which seems like it would be great food for them. AGAIN, child abduction is never good, but these guys don't seem to be on the same level of intelligence as, say, an Alakazam, so they behave more like animals, not really thinking about how good that decision is.

Really, Pokémon are supposed to be your friends, and ANY of them can be dangerous. I love Gengar too but LOOK AT THOSE DEX ENTRIES. THAT THING IS WILD. People can like whatever Pokémon they want, I just think people have the wrong idea about Hypno :)
