Kyy kylmä nahka, kavala vihollinen, viirusilmä, maan nuora, kanerva karva, maan on synkkä syntymäsi...
It's a tragedy that 99.93% of people will never understand the masterpieces that are the lyrics of Finnish songs

at least as far as french goes, learning the genders of things is entirely memorization. and yes, learners of the language struggle with it.
in fact, if you're writing and want to convey that the person doesn't speak french too well, you have them misgender inanimate objects.
there's no rules to determine a thing's gender, not even vibes; in fact, the opposite is true: for native speakers, which gender a thing is will then color the vibes that they associate with that thing. this is why i will forever associate spiders with cunning and motherood.
and finally, i've saved the dumbest for last: in 2020, there was debate if COVID is male or female.

Fun facts about Windows95Man from his QnA:
He is a dad!
He doesn't drink alcohol
Some American company has 3D model of him (Did I get that right? What???)
Secretly bought his family a ps5 (and is himself looking forwards to the Tomb Raider remasters)
He is always warm and so he doesn't get cold in the booty shorts
He only has the one pair of booty shorts? (And a pair of Levi's ones that aren't quite the same). And he is trying to find another pair of the same ones which is apparently very difficult. Most likely because that pair is so old.
He is making Yle stress because he wants to improvise in the live performance
The stripping in the music video was not a part of the plan (meaning that he was just wearing that thong just cause)
When asked what pick-and-mix candy he would be, he answered what is possibly the most obscure candy you could find, Väyrysen päät. (And as I looked up what that candy even was I stumbled upon this HS article answering if the candy actually is named after politician Paavo Väyrynen and why. So yeah. Obscure)
Also he is currently not eating candy (or on a candy strike, as it is called in Finnish)
His wife is Dutch!
His secret skill is playing the saxophone
He is such an Espoo guy. Just some fucking guy from Espoo (that's my observation)

How am I supposed to be freaky in my own language? Dirty talk in finnish turns me off but speaking english with a finn is also weird

Ohhh dear...
I've only listened through once admittedly, but not really a fan thus far. Maybe it'll grow on me? I definitely need to listen through headphones because I really don't think the volume I had it at was conducive to hearing it properly...
Like people have said, it just doesn't feel particularly cohesive? If the transitions were a bit smoother and there was more of, idk, a throughline? Something that ran through all the disparate bits?
That said, I didn't care for Ruoska the first time I heard it so I'm willing to give it a chance.

#M#Im feeling wonky#I messed up a friendship and im being used by a coworker and i feel like i may be betrayed for a 4th time#Those things are not related to each other#And then i for some reason read youtube comments#And that was a bad idea#Bc they were hating on swedish speaking finns#Aka my grandparents#Lots of misinfo too#If there is a video about someone getting threatened or beat up for their language#Why would you comment that they deserved it for speaking a language that has existed in that region for 800+ years?#And so so so much misinformation too#I don't know maybe im feeling ill bc i missed my train (earlier train was late)#Aurgha#Another sort-friend jokingly called me huuri or however it's spelled#He doesn't know that my family are swedish speaking finns#It was in response to me (also jokingly) suggesting he try speaking swedish with the finns he didn't understand#(he's born here in sweden to finnish family so he speaks 'swedish finnish' so he had some issues keeping up with finnish slang)#Like we are opposites but it's okay to hate on one group? I don't get it#Anyway just that he knew he'd get that response if he tried swedish... Even if it was a joke it still hurt#To know that one language isn't safe to speak unless you want hate and physical danger#Im having a midnight ramble again huh#Anyway everything is overwhelming gonna cry myself to sleep now bye ✌️#Also the argument that 300000 people aren't that many: thats the whole of Iceland!#Should Icelandic just not exist anymore then?

Honestly the least realistic part in stuff like Indiana Jones-type fiction is people finding a scholar's notes and them consisting of well-formulated sentences in one language
You're telling me this highly-learned scholar who works with a minimum of two languages daily only uses one of them in his notes? They never toss in words from another language because they just forgot the equivalent right now and can't be arsed to look it up because who cares, this is only for them anyway? Please.

Not dog related but have you been to Kuopio? My wife and I are planning to move there in a few years and I’m just curious what your thoughts might be as someone who actually lives in Finland. Also do you enjoy a cold dip after sauna or is that not really your thing?
I used to live in Kuopio! Spent my early childhood there. I still visit several times a year, it's one of those home-away-from-home places for me.
I don't enjoy cold, I rarely swim and I barely ever go to sauna (it always makes me feel sort of light-headed), so not my thing really :'> But if you think you might enjoy, like, the temperature shock and the adrenaline rush go for it.
