One of my favourite regulatory environment is how the car insurance industry was (and still is somewhat, see notes later) regulated in Hungary
So obviously third-party car insurance is mandatory and there are multiple companies providing coverage, so the regulators were thinking how to make this fair to the people. This was back in the 1990s so way before internet was a thing, or even computers in general were widely adopted by people.
So they decided to mandate all companies to publish their algorithms.
And not just any way: they had to publish their full and complete algorithm in three of the largest newspapers in circulation every year on the 1st November. Once published they were also not allowed to change the algorithm for the year, with any changes you needed to wait for the next 1st November.
Now this had a couple of profound implications:
You needed to make sure your algorithm can be done fully offline, on pen-and-paper, with clear instructions on how to get the end result.
You had to provide a price as nowehere in the algorithm you could have said "Sorry we won't insure you". You could obviously discourage people (like adding a 5x-10x multiplier somewhere), but still had to provide a number at the end.
Everyone was able to do this at home. While there were companies that you can ask to help switch providers (even before internet comparison sites became a thing you had high-street insurance shops that could do this for you) I remember my father never trusting any of them, and I was asked to run some of the calculations to help him decide where to switch to each year.
Each company was also able to see how the others do it, you could not really hide your calculation method from the others, making reverse-engineering easy.
Buying a page in a newspaper was expensive - the more complex your algorithm, the more you had to spend on publishing it. Most providers tried to survive within 4 pages, with even the larger institutions trying to keep their algorithm within around 10 pages long. Once internet became a thing some providers tried to cheat around it, by trying to refer to some resources outside of the paper (like a huge excel sheet on their website), but this was soon caught by the regulator and prohibited - everything you needed to calculate had to be inside the paper, fully offline. This effectively prohibited the insurance providers to use of huge tables of numbers obfuscating their algorithm (but see notes below)
Also publishing happened at the same time for everyone, so you couldn't really peek at how the others were doing - if you priced yourself too expensive in a year for example there was the risk that no one would pick you, and you could only change the pricing structure the next year - effectively losing out a year's worth of customers
It was obvious which parameters you used to determine the price. If a company decided to punish users who have red cars for example it became obvious as there had to be a "what's the colour of your car" in the questionnaire, with a multiplier next to it. The regulator could then each year decide which of these parameters should be invalid. The colour of the car was one example where the regulator disallowed it's use as an input parameter very early on. Gender was another which had been allowed for a while, then discontinued after regulatory pressure. However even while it was in use you could easily see which providers were using it, and how they affected your insurance price
Since algorithms were public, interop was easy - any company trying to set up a comparison website (or an offline high-street shop) could just do calculations based on the offline algorithms, no APIs or other fancy things were needed. If one of your competitors tried to set up a new comparison website you could not block them accessing you, as even without API access they could just use the offline algorithms you published to calculate your price. Companies like Direct Line could not do what they are doing in the UK for example.
Now these were mostly the original rules from the 90s. In around 2010 the regulator stopped the requirement that the car insurance company you use can only be changed every year on the 1st January - meaning companies could start to change their pricing structures more often (this for example meant mistakes in pricing could be rectified much easier, which was immediately followed by price rises) - and soon other ease of the regulations occured as well, the biggest being not requiring the algorithms to be published in newspapers.
It still had to be published (you can check the current algorithms on the regulator's website), but online publishing was enough, so some companies immediately opted into providing 200+ pages long PDFs with incomprehensible tables that tried to cover each make/model/postcode/age/etc parameter separately, to obfuscate the algorithm as much as possible from your competitors.
Also these rules only applied for third-party insurance (the only thing that is mandatory), once you tried to do optional stuff, like add a comprehensive addon (called CASCO), rules were out of the window and each company just tried to mess with you - obviously they tried to recoup some of the costs of this regulatory framework where they could, and CASCO was a good opportunity for them to do so.
And if you wonder how these algorithms looked like fortunately some of the providers still behave nicely. This is a fine example of how it looked like in the past, as this is only 5 pages long, with most of the basics covered for HGVs on a single page:
Base price is the largest table on the left side, which is based on where you live and the size of your vehicle. Once you have that you also have some multipliers based on age, no-claims bonus, and some other stuff, and you got your yearly insurance price.
Others have obviously used the opportunity and started having massive PDFs, the linked one is 255 pages long, mostly containing a multiplier table for every single postcode/age/make/model/etc in existence. It still needs to be published, allowing all of your competitors to reverse-engineer if they wish to do so though.
Shifting $677m from the banks to the people, every year, forever
I'll be in TUCSON, AZ from November 8-10: I'm the GUEST OF HONOR at the TUSCON SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION.
"Switching costs" are one of the great underappreciated evils in our world: the more it costs you to change from one product or service to another, the worse the vendor, provider, or service you're using today can treat you without risking your business.
Businesses set out to keep switching costs as high as possible. Literally. Mark Zuckerberg's capos send him memos chortling about how Facebook's new photos feature will punish anyone who leaves for a rival service with the loss of all their family photos – meaning Zuck can torment those users for profit and they'll still stick around so long as the abuse is less bad than the loss of all their cherished memories:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2021/08/facebooks-secret-war-switching-costs
It's often hard to quantify switching costs. We can tell when they're high, say, if your landlord ties your internet service to your lease (splitting the profits with a shitty ISP that overcharges and underdelivers), the switching cost of getting a new internet provider is the cost of moving house. We can tell when they're low, too: you can switch from one podcatcher program to another just by exporting your list of subscriptions from the old one and importing it into the new one:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/10/16/keep-it-really-simple-stupid/#read-receipts-are-you-kidding-me-seriously-fuck-that-noise
But sometimes, economists can get a rough idea of the dollar value of high switching costs. For example, a group of economists working for the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau calculated that the hassle of changing banks is costing Americans at least $677m per year (see page 526):
https://files.consumerfinance.gov/f/documents/cfpb_personal-financial-data-rights-final-rule_2024-10.pdf
The CFPB economists used a very conservative methodology, so the number is likely higher, but let's stick with that figure for now. The switching costs of changing banks – determining which bank has the best deal for you, then transfering over your account histories, cards, payees, and automated bill payments – are costing everyday Americans more than half a billion dollars, every year.
Now, the CFPB wasn't gathering this data just to make you mad. They wanted to do something about all this money – to find a way to lower switching costs, and, in so doing, transfer all that money from bank shareholders and executives to the American public.
And that's just what they did. A newly finalized Personal Financial Data Rights rule will allow you to authorize third parties – other banks, comparison shopping sites, brokers, anyone who offers you a better deal, or help you find one – to request your account data from your bank. Your bank will be required to provide that data.
I loved this rule when they first proposed it:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/06/10/getting-things-done/#deliverism
And I like the final rule even better. They've really nailed this one, even down to the fine-grained details where interop wonks like me get very deep into the weeds. For example, a thorny problem with interop rules like this one is "who gets to decide how the interoperability works?" Where will the data-formats come from? How will we know they're fit for purpose?
This is a super-hard problem. If we put the monopolies whose power we're trying to undermine in charge of this, they can easily cheat by delivering data in uselessly obfuscated formats. For example, when I used California's privacy law to force Mailchimp to provide list of all the mailing lists I've been signed up for without my permission, they sent me thousands of folders containing more than 5,900 spreadsheets listing their internal serial numbers for the lists I'm on, with no way to find out what these lists are called or how to get off of them:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/07/22/degoogled/#kafka-as-a-service
So if we're not going to let the companies decide on data formats, who should be in charge of this? One possibility is to require the use of a standard, but again, which standard? We can ask a standards body to make a new standard, which they're often very good at, but not when the stakes are high like this. Standards bodies are very weak institutions that large companies are very good at capturing:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/04/30/weak-institutions/
Here's how the CFPB solved this: they listed out the characteristics of a good standards body, listed out the data types that the standard would have to encompass, and then told banks that so long as they used a standard from a good standards body that covered all the data-types, they'd be in the clear.
Once the rule is in effect, you'll be able to go to a comparison shopping site and authorize it to go to your bank for your transaction history, and then tell you which bank – out of all the banks in America – will pay you the most for your deposits and charge you the least for your debts. Then, after you open a new account, you can authorize the new bank to go back to your old bank and get all your data: payees, scheduled payments, payment history, all of it. Switching banks will be as easy as switching mobile phone carriers – just a few clicks and a few minutes' work to get your old number working on a phone with a new provider.
This will save Americans at least $677 million, every year. Which is to say, it will cost the banks at least $670 million every year.
Naturally, America's largest banks are suing to block the rule:
https://www.americanbanker.com/news/cfpbs-open-banking-rule-faces-suit-from-bank-policy-institute
Of course, the banks claim that they're only suing to protect you, and the $677m annual transfer from their investors to the public has nothing to do with it. The banks claim to be worried about bank-fraud, which is a real thing that we should be worried about. They say that an interoperability rule could make it easier for scammers to get at your data and even transfer your account to a sleazy fly-by-night operation without your consent. This is also true!
It is obviously true that a bad interop rule would be bad. But it doesn't follow that every interop rule is bad, or that it's impossible to make a good one. The CFPB has made a very good one.
For starters, you can't just authorize anyone to get your data. Eligible third parties have to meet stringent criteria and vetting. These third parties are only allowed to ask for the narrowest slice of your data needed to perform the task you've set for them. They aren't allowed to use that data for anything else, and as soon as they've finished, they must delete your data. You can also revoke their access to your data at any time, for any reason, with one click – none of this "call a customer service rep and wait on hold" nonsense.
What's more, if your bank has any doubts about a request for your data, they are empowered to (temporarily) refuse to provide it, until they confirm with you that everything is on the up-and-up.
I wrote about the lawsuit this week for @[email protected]'s Deeplinks blog:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/10/no-matter-what-bank-says-its-your-money-your-data-and-your-choice
In that article, I point out the tedious, obvious ruses of securitywashing and privacywashing, where a company insists that its most abusive, exploitative, invasive conduct can't be challenged because that would expose their customers to security and privacy risks. This is such bullshit.
It's bullshit when printer companies say they can't let you use third party ink – for your own good:
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/01/hp-ceo-blocking-third-party-ink-from-printers-fights-viruses/
It's bullshit when car companies say they can't let you use third party mechanics – for your own good:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/03/rip-david-graeber/#rolling-surveillance-platforms
It's bullshit when Apple says they can't let you use third party app stores – for your own good:
https://www.eff.org/document/letter-bruce-schneier-senate-judiciary-regarding-app-store-security
It's bullshit when Facebook says you can't independently monitor the paid disinformation in your feed – for your own good:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/08/05/comprehensive-sex-ed/#quis-custodiet-ipsos-zuck
And it's bullshit when the banks say you can't change to a bank that charges you less, and pays you more – for your own good.
CFPB boss Rohit Chopra is part of a cohort of Biden enforcers who've hit upon a devastatingly effective tactic for fighting corporate power: they read the law and found out what they're allowed to do, and then did it:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/10/23/getting-stuff-done/#praxis
The CFPB was created in 2010 with the passage of the Consumer Financial Protection Act, which specifically empowers the CFPB to make this kind of data-sharing rule. Back when the CFPA was in Congress, the banks howled about this rule, whining that they were being forced to share their data with their competitors.
But your account data isn't your bank's data. It's your data. And the CFPB is gonna let you have it, and they're gonna save you and your fellow Americans at least $677m/year – forever.
If you'd like an essay-formatted version of this post to read or share, here's a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:

Any genre of game can have a disabled protagonist if you aren't a coward / willing to put the work in, but I'm currently batting around the concept of specifically point-and-click puzzle adventure games with a highly disabled protagonist.
Often, the pace of such games tends sedate and contemplative. Your character is seldom in a hurry; they are mostly faced by trying to figure out how to accomplish a particular task, and if a deadline is imposed, it's an extra thing to juggle.
This could be an interesting presumption to incorporate from a watsonian lens, through the viewpoint of a protagonist who may have limited mobility, pain and/or fatigue that make hurrying punitively inaccessible. It'd let the player familiarize themselves with early puzzles if the first thing they have to figure out how to do is say, get their player character out of bed in an environment where they don't have their usual fallbacks.
(also if this is also a walking adventure, it'd let you dodge accusations of the insurmountable waist-high fence- your intrepid hero MIGHT be able to climb over those bricks if they didn't have two bad hips and a walker to worry about!)
#writing ruminations#speaking broadly I think there should be way more games that have disabled protagonists and directly incorporate the protagonist's conditio#into game mechanics and structure#like that game Endoparasitic that had the basic premise your character has only one remaining limb (right arm)#and how this affects the structure of everything you have to do#I recall also hearing about a game where you play a blind protagonist navigating a haunted house#where tapping your cane to identify your surroundings is both instrumental and risky as the hostile forces can hear it

the problem is I’m such a staunch believer in the slow buildup, the earnest enjoyment of meandering through terrible story decisions and weird nothing subplots to build up into a conclusion that explodes out from all that as fantastic storytelling and intrigue based on all that buildup, such that it makes it necessary to get through all that or you’re missing something essential, that I’m also a terrible person to talk to about what makes a story good. I can tell you plenty of what actually makes something tight and well-written and all that technical speak but how could anyone take my advice when I so so so love excruciatingly long unnecessarily complex fumbling and weird nonsense that spirals into, inexplicably, weird nonsense that makes you cry your lungs sore
#kipspeak#my point being everyone is too mean about post arr. sure f’lhammin did not have to be our problem but everything after that was like#meandering. Thinking. building. unnerving. they were cooking and i RESPECT their dubious food#i love homestuck and long audio dramas and dnd podcasts and indecipherable fancomics and lego ninjas and khux and im starting to love ffxiv#all incredibly long and made with passion and kinda weird and hard to get into#said with THE MOST affection in my heart#I could structure a kids show and I know how to write for tv but in my heart of hearts#I just want to write an impossibly long absurdity epic that is weird and a little bad and also makes you feel shrimp emotions#ALSO I feel 0% bad for not respecting ur theory or opinion if you haven’t played khux/dr/recoded I don’t feel bad about it at all I’m right#understand what’s going on in them and I’ll respect your theories. it’s like comics enjoyers but less chaotic#don’t let me get into comics. superheroes never really catch my interest but if you let me get into comics I’d explode#‘it gets really good’ is a genuine way to interest me#also don’t let me get into anime that do this. I already watched a thousand episodes of detective Conan—#maybe it’s a careful balance of weird and Good Storytelling Seeds. it has to have internal logic for one; and it has to have a structure#It has to be leading somewhere. and I want to see where it leads#we are GOING through the disney worlds. all of them. they are COOKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

man. totk couldve been so good
#thinking of the links awakening sequel to alttp post and how games contrast/mirror each other#i cant say totk was super close to it. well maybe it was based on the first trailer but not anymore !#there were moments to be sure (sky island music + the great sky island) but the bulk of it is. Not#it feels less of a sequel to botw and more like a spinoff game. the world is hollow when you see the cracks and the cracks are Everywhere#npcs are wrong the structure is more linear (the great sky island for ex) the replacement of the sheikah with the zonai but it not working#due to the fact that the sheikah are still referenced and its the Same Place where literally all of the events of botw and prior happened#like. it Could In Theory Work but its trying to erase the sheikahs presence entirely which. no!! thats not how that works??#instead of mirroring or parallel and highlighting them Both it tries to scrub one out over the other#the emphasis on a Greater Past- botw focusing on 100 years prior which he and zelda and the champions and. The World have a connection to#vs totk doing more than 10000 years prior which would Seem better at first glance but it informs nothing about hyrule and nothing meaningfu#l was lost. its just a set piece to show rauru and sonias conflict with ganondorf#theres no. Connections. like it doesnt matter to ganondorf hes just oOoOoo evil and it somehow doesnt affect his goals or motives#the sky islands cant imply any context because there Is no context theyre just scattered ruins with no significance#rauru laments about the constructs but Thats It. everything is just there to be cool#especially the old temple of time/the temple of time in the sky. Why does that exist at all#its like. i wish any of this stuff was important At All but you can tell its not.#sorry for the hater post i just think its neat how botw informs totk and how totk ended up Like That. How.

so kusakabe and higuruma Megumi and fucking MEI MEI can survive but Mechamaru Nanako Mimiko and Mai had 2 die. Alright.
#JJK spoilers#Everytime I'm like ''i don't actually care that much I shouldn't be so negative'' I remember that Gege treats disabled characters like shit#And also fucking fumbled some of the characters with the MOST POTENTIAL (THE FUCKING NANAKO MIMIKO AND MAKI MAI PARALLELS)#Anyway I'm killing us allllllllll ❤️#Also I feel like the idea of ''strength'' is never really actually. Fully criticized like maybe I'll have clearer thoughts later but it's#Very much ''dont look down on the weak bc they might be strong'' instead of ''dont look down on the weak bc. They're human beings.''#And that just annoys me personally. Like Suguru is Wrong but the narrative doesn't actually Prove Him Wrong y'know. In the story#He's mostly wrong bc he's the antagonist not bc he's created a whole fucked up worldview as a deeply traumatized teen and then#Created a structure that was abusive not only to the ppl he didnt value but also the ppl he did and NEITHER GROUP IS GIVEN SUFFICIENT FOCUS#AAAAAAAAAGHHHH. <- guy who's interested in cults and cult abuse and wants to see fiction that actually reflects#How cult survivors are affected by said abuse and also recover. Can you tell I'm not over Nanako and Mimiko's deaths because they were#REALLY FUCKING INTERESTING CHARACTERS. CAN YOU. CAN YOU. CAN Y#Somehow everything I write Abt JJK ends up being about how I wish I could enter the story and crucify Geto. I hate that motherfucker#(he's was my first favorite character in the series and even tho he's been rightfully usurped he's genuine fascinating both in general and#Also specifically bc his character touches on some of my preexisting interests and also I feel like no one else understands him.#And when I say that I mean no one else wants to beat him to death with bricks and rocks and blunt weapons for the right reasons like I do)

"open your eyes" ➤ take maximum advantage of the law + don't limit yourself
first, know that there are no limits when it comes to the Law, and to help you understand this i'll be giving you examples:
you can distort time-space.
you can shift to a reality where geometry doesn't make sense (parallel lines meet, circles have sides etc.)
you can break every fundamental law of nature
you can manifest some shawarma to eat idk
you can be unbelievably good at everything you do
you can bring back dead loved ones
you can find out the answer to the greatest world mysteries
you can travel faster than light
you can manifest shawarma perhaps
you can manifest a genie that grants infinite wishes
you can comprehend 4D, 5D, 6D and all that
you can eat infinite shawarmas (perfect)
think of the craziest thing. yes, you can manifest that.
there are no limits to the Law, and
there are no limits when it comes to applying the Law.
these sentences mean different things.
let me ask you, what is the most tiring thing about applying the Law? is it the robotic affirming? the persisting? is it the negative thoughts that come in between sometimes?
back to the statement i made before. there are no limits when it comes to applying the Law. so, that means you could apply the Law to itself?
what this means is you can make assumptions about the Law and by the same Law, these assumptions will be true?
simply, if you assume that you don't need to have a positive mindset to manifest, you don't. if you don't need to constantly repeat one affirmation a thousand times, you don't. if getting into situations where you reaffirm the opposite are not relevant, then they aren't relevant.
don't read this blindly. understand that whatever about the Law gives you some discomfort, you don't need. and you can firmly establish that by making assumptions of this very Law.
let me ask you again. what is the most tiring thing about applying the Law? whatever it is, you can avoid doing.
as crazy as this sounds, it is true. not because i'm saying it, but it is true by Law. it is true by Law.
because what is the Law? "what you assume is the reality right now." this is the basic skeletal structure of the Law. don't add unnecessary extra bones to it. by adding extra bones, you may lengthen the skeleton, when that's not always needed. and this could cause discomfort.
so go ahead, kick and cry and scream out your frustrations. if you keep getting into situations where you affirm the opposite of your desires, go ahead. if you want to only say one affirmation, go ahead. if you want to use 'will' instead of 'is'' in your affirmations, do that. they say time doesn't matter.
robotic affirming, SATS etc., are all just elements of the Law. you are not mandated to do it.
even persisting. it's just an element of the Law. you only have to be fulfilled in imagination, and only that matters. not what you show to the 3D, not how you react to the 3D. as for being fulfilled in imagination, it has already happened once you've thought of your desires. you already have it; done. no need to remind yourself a hundred times that you do.
all you have to do is simply assume that you do not associate with your negative states and since we know that our assumptions make our reality, this assumption is now true. draw a line between the way you react to the 3D, and the way you act in imagination. you know that only the imagination matters. now, you are free to react negatively to the 3D. it's okay if you keep reaffirming negative thoughts accidentally (without intention). it will not affect you because you have strictly laid out an assumption that things like this are not going to affect you at all. also, you are free to use whatever words in your affirmation process, because you know that things like that don't matter, only the meaning and idea you hold behind it, like I've mentioned a couple times before.
once again, what you assume is true. that is literally it. avoid doing the things that don't make you happy. i've mentioned this somewhere before, but the concept of hard-work doesn't exist for manifesters. just because you're trying to get your dream life, doesn't mean you make sacrifices or make yourself uncomfortable with what you're doing now just for the sake of achieving your desires. you are happy with what you're doing now, and you will be happy with whatever you're doing in the future.
you could say that what i'm saying is wrong. that's an assumption you're making, so it will be true only for you. not for me, according to my assumptions, i do not have to affirm, do SATS or even persist.
we know that our 3D is not real, it doesn't matter. so why should the way you behave in the 3D or towards it matter? think about it. if only the imagination matters, then you can act like you own this place ... only in imagination? why should anything else matter?

nature things that a lot of people don't know about and weren't even taught about adequately, but they're actually really fundamental and important to know about
how rivers work. Where do they get started? how do they decide which way to flow?? what makes one river muddy and the other one clear?
[They flow downhill. Always. If a river is flowing a Way, that way is Downhill. They start with rain flowing or soaking downhill until it forms into a little trickle through a channel like a gully or drainage ditch, and the farther it flows the more other trickles flow into it from the land around it, until you have a stream, and the streams all flow downhill until they run into each other, and eventually you have a river which finally reaches the ocean. Rivers never flow FROM the ocean because the ocean is the most downhill you can possibly go. I don't think rivers usually split in two—a fork in a waterway is usually two rivers joining together.]
[On the subject of pollution, rain is usually supposed to soak slowly through the layer of leaves, roots, and dead plant material that covers most biomes. But if you tear up the plants and leave bare mud, or replace a forest with a muddy cow pasture, there's no filter, and mud and contaminants wash into the river. Just plain mud can be pollution.]
how soil works. What makes different soils different? Why are some soils good for growing a garden and others terrible? Does it need more fertilizer?
[The sand, silt, clay diagram is very simplified and only deals with one aspect of soil. Roots, soil animals, fungi, and dead plant material are all part of soil and affect its structure, making it spongy and full of holes and passages for nutrients, water, and new roots. Tilling can break hard soil, but tilling doesn't make soil light, fluffy, and permeable—disturbing the soil as little as possible, protecting it with a layer of plant material, and allowing the natural life forms of the soil develop their networks and tunnels and slowly break down the plant material layer does. This is also very simplified. Soil is COMPLICATED.]
what fungi are, and whether they are dangerous.
[fungi cannot harm you unless you eat them or unless they're growing inside your house and you're inhaling their spores in a concentrated space. There's like, one species in Japan that causes skin irritation. You can touch any other species without any harm whatsoever. *Most* of them don't harm your garden either—in fact, most plants connect their root systems to the fungal mycelium in the soil and receive nutrients from the fungus in exchange for the products of photosynthesis.]
Whether lichen harm trees
[no. They're just hanging out. But a LOT of lichen on a tree might be a sign that the tree is dying. It's not the lichen's fault though.]
What moss is??
[it's a plant, but a very simple plant that doesn't have any vessels for transporting water, so it has to live somewhere damp and soak it up like a sponge. There are hundreds of species of moss, and different species live on the side of a boulder vs. the top, or a living tree trunk vs. a fallen dead tree trunk!]
where bugs go in the winter? I straight up had a book as a kid that told me that they just die, without explaining how the species doesn't go extinct if the winter kills them all.
[Tl;dr they're usually hibernating in fallen leaves and dead wood and plant material. Some do this as eggs or larvae/caterpillars; in this case the adults do die, but their children sleep peacefully through the winter to awake in the spring. And still others hibernate as adults. This is why you don't clean up your flower beds until late spring.]
How Many plants there are
[WAY more than you think]
How ecosystems work apart from "everything is out to get everything else and take resources from other organisms."
[Competition and cooperation are both important in ecosystems! Weeds are competitive and they can choke out other plants, but they also protect the soil from erosion and harsh sunlight, keeping it moist and helping organic matter to build up. A lot of plants, when they're young, need to be sheltered by other plants that protect them from dryness, heat, and herbivores. This isn't even getting into how some plants will send nutrients to seedlings or to understory plants in a forest! Before industrial agriculture made monocultures dominant, people used and were familiar with cooperative relationships between plants a LOT more.]
The range of creatures that are pollinators, and how important the variety is.
[Bees, wasps, butterflies, moths, flies, ants, beetles, hummingbirds, and bats are all pollinators, and flowers are usually shaped and colored and scented to attract particular pollinators. Bees can't do everything, and honey bees are only one kind of bee. Red flowers and long tube shaped flowers are often for hummingbirds, pale-colored flowers that open at night need moths, and flowers that give off strong foul odors often attract flies. It gets WAY more complicated than that—sometimes a flower is only pollinated by a single species of bee or wasp or beetle.]
How many bees there are besides honey bees
[LOTS. And you've probably never seen most of them, if you don't regularly spend time around native plants! There are 140 species of longhorn bee alone, and most people haven't even heard of longhorn bees! There are well over a hundred bumble bees too! Bees come in bright, metallic green, blue, and pure gold. In the USA where I live, some of the most endangered bees are the adorable, fluffy bumble bees—the American Bumble Bee is threatened, and we have some species, like the rusty-patched bumble bee, that are critically endangered.]
[Please, please, please do not use pesticides on plants unless it is a necessity, and please do a LOT of research on the specific pesticide you are using and its effects on non-target insects. If there is any alternative, Do Not Do It. ESPECIALLY not pesticides that come in dust or powder form, ESPECIALLY in the USA, because regulations are so loose here that regular people can buy pesticides in dust form that are horribly toxic to bees.]
[How horribly toxic? A pesticide like Sevin dust will cling to the fuzz on every single bee that visits your plant—like pollen—and those bees will probably die. And in social bees, before they die, they will take the poison back to their hive (like pollen) and potentially kill the entire hive.]

everything was hot. your surroundings seemed to also be affected by this thick atmosphere, weighed down by the searing tension. time was nonexistent, and it felt like this moment dragged on. maybe because of the heavy heat sticking to your skin or maybe because of the heady fog that clouded your mind. you didn’t quite know for sure.
but one thing you did know was that the next drag of your bare cunt across an equally bare thigh was enough to make your body shudder…again. you’d lost count of how many times your body trembled under the weight of this sensation, and you certainly couldn’t remember how many times you’d climaxed already. jittery, weak fingers grasped as the cotton fabric of your boyfriend’s tee and you whimpered. a plea for reprieve.
“shhh,” came hongjoong’s serenely sweet voice in your ear. it was meant to calm you, but with the way his hands still gripped your hips to urge you back and forth, it did nothing of the sort. “it’s alright, i’m here.”
there were tears in your eyes; crystalline pearls shimmering in the low light. “‘s too much, joongie.” your bottom lip jutted out in a pout, a sight hongjoong found endearing.
he kissed the pout away with a soft, light kiss, a contrast to the nasty way your pussy smeared slick all over the skin of his clenched thigh. “it’s okay, you’re okay. i’ll make it all better, yeah? just give me one more, precious.”
you cried out when he flexed his thigh again, the hardened muscle pressing perfectly against your cunt, your clit dragging so right over that prominent vein that popped under the skin. your arousal was dripping down his thigh and onto the floor; his shorts were hiked up out of the way, his erection prominent under the crumpled fabric. “i — i don’t know if i can!”
your broken voice made hongjoong’s dick throb, more precum leaking out and wetting his shorts. he ached to be in you, to be surrounded by the soft, sticky warmth of you that was currently pressed over his thigh. he put his own desire on the back burner, instead focusing on you and your pleasure, which ultimately was his pleasure as well. he moved you back and forth and gradually increased the speed until you were on the verge again. “my precious girl, yes you can. c’mon on now, show me how good you are. show me how good i make you feel.”
you were nothing if not completely obedient to him. his words held a power over you akin to a spell, and you found yourself falling apart at the seams. “mmh!” the pleasure was a lot, intensified by all the orgasms that came before. it was almost painful the way your cunt pulsed over his thigh, a sensation you were certain was not missed by him, and you cried at the weight of it all. he was there to hold you steady through it all, his lips on your temple, your cheek, your eyelids, the corner of your mouth. he was like an anchor for you as you came down, a lifeline back to reality.
“you,” hongjoong started, kissing your lips. “are so precious, so good for me. you did so well.” he brought you into his embrace, smiling softly when your tear stained face buried into itself his chest. he rubbed comforting circles into your back. “we can stay here as long as you need. then we’ll go get you cleaned up, yeah?”
notes from nat: uh…uh…yeah so here’s this. couldn’t get the thigh riding brain rot out of my head after posting this picture yesterday;; didn’t have the brain power to write a whole ass fic on this but i just had to jot down something. oh and speaking of brain rot,, will be labeling posts like this as my brain rot posts. they aren’t structured enough to be fics, so they’re just my brain rot. will be putting these on my master list for easier navigation, of course <3

SO, KISS ME ♡
pairing: logan howlett x fem!reader
summary: to celebrate six months of being together, you and logan head off to a secret spot. and it wouldn't be a celebration without a few drinks, right?
cw: nsfw (18+), smut, p in v, fingering, light dubcon, intox kink, alcohol + intoxication
kinktober slot: day 2 - intox kink
Being the guidance counselor at Charles Xavier's school, you take your work seriously. You dedicate all that you have to the students. Helping them blossom into healthy, well-adjusted adults means everything to you in both a professional and personal sense. But because of your fierce ambition, you never really get the chance to let loose. Your nights consist of reviewing your cases. When you do have free time during the evening, you often spend it alone or with your boyfriend, just relaxing.
Tonight is different though.
It's your six month anniversary with Logan - which he makes sure to remind you multiple times, is not a real anniversary since it's not annual. But regardless, he indulges your desire to celebrate.
Holding hands, he walks you through the overgrown grass down to the neglected boat house that stands a few hundred yards South of the school's main building. The buttery blades of the field brush against your knees as your steps trail his larger strides. He glances back at you every now and again, a subtle way of making sure you aren't having any trouble.
The path the two of you take winds down to the old wooden structure. A collection of trees secludes it and the dock coming off of it. He leads you up the creaky steps and through the small musty corridor, smirking at your complaints about the possibility of bugs or other small creatures.
At the end of this trip, you finally reach the destination he wanted to take you. The small area that comes off the boat house and sits a few feet above the moderate-sized lake on this corner of the estate.
"Wow, this is kinda pretty," you say, peering around at the secret spot he'd found for the two of you.
"Kinda? That's all you'll give me?" he teases.
He pulls you the few remaining paces to the edge of the pine slats. You smile up at him, tucking yourself underneath his muscular arm as the two of you overlook the turquoise water.
"Ok, ok. It's super pretty. I never thought you'd be the type to do something so romantic," you correct.
"Yeah, well... I can be when I want to. And for you... I guess you're worth it," he says, keeping a cocky look on his face. He could never have you taking his words too seriously. Couldn't clue you in to the depth of what he feels for you in the short span of time you've officially been his.
He sits down first, and you follow in suit. His legs dangle, hanging inches above the murky liquid. Yours stay tucked up on the wood, crossed over one another. You take a few more moments to enjoy the scenery around you. It's nice and quiet out here. Pretty and green. Maybe it would feel creepy if not for Logan, but his presence prevents any eerie feelings from tainting your fun.
The hand that hadn't been used to guide you down here holds a six pack of Logan's beverage of choice. He sets the perspiring cans next to his thigh and hooks his elbow over your shoulders, pulling you close to his side again. His lips land against your temple, silent affection you'd grown accustomed to from him.
You tilt your head upward to brush your nose against him and look into the pair of eyes you found yourself getting lost in more and more often these days.
"You could've picked a more romantic drink though," you joke.
He scoffs playfully. "I'm celebrating too, aren't I?" he says.
Reaching over, he pulls one of the cans from the plastic wrapped around the top. He watches how your eyes follow his hand.
"You want one?" he asks.
You glance up at him and nod. Sure, you didn't care for the taste of beer. You weren't too fond of alcohol in general. But tonight was a special occasion. You figured it wouldn't hurt. It'd probably be fun trying out a new change of pace.
He rolls his eyes and frees another can from the pack, sliding it into your hands.
"All that complaining, but you're still gonna drink anyways," he mocks.
"Shut up," you say and give his arm a little shove.
The lid spurts as you pop it open. You bring the container to your lips and take a drink, scrunching your nose at the flavor. He grins at your exaggerated show of displeasure.
"No one's forcing you," he chuckles.
"I know," you say after swallowing.
You scoot a little closer to him and lean against his side. He doesn't need anymore words to understand what you're trying to communicate.
The two of you drink and talk for an amount of time that fades into irrelevancy in favor of enjoying each other. You sip your drink while he pops open another. The once-serene quiet of the lake becomes filled with the sounds of your combined voices and laughter. You swap stories in between lazy kisses, vent about nagging problems of your lives now as your hands roam each other's bodies.
You end up finishing two drinks. Your head is spinning by the time the second can leaves your fingers. He can see from the look on your face how you're feeling. Even if he didn't have his advanced olfactory, he would be able to smell the smooth scent oozing off of you.
After laughing a little too hard at a joke that wasn't that funny, you go for another one. He grabs your wrist and then cups your jaw, tilting your head upward so that your glassy eyes are on him.
"Think you've had enough, baby," he smirks.
You give him a goofy smile and shake your head. "Have not."
"Hmmm, I think you have. You're a total lightweight," he teases. His arm snakes around your back and scoops you up, pulling you to sit on his lap.
You don't protest the adjustment and instead snuggle into his chest.
"But today's special," you pout.
"That's true, but tomorrow isn't. And you're not gonna feel very special if you give yourself a killer headache."
You scoff despite the truth of that statement.
"You're no fun," you say and flick at his face.
He swats your hand away gently and shifts you on his thighs to make sure you're supported and won't go toppling into the water below. You still try to reach for another drink, but he stops you again.
"That last one's for me," he says. He knows that won't be enough to sate you though, so he tries an offer, "If you really want some more, I'll give you a sip of mine. Deal?"
You pause like you're thinking about it. In truth, that's just the delay needed for the words to register in your mind.
"Deal," you agree and smack a kiss against the corner of his mouth.
He smiles, and the two of you stay like that for a while. You continue talking, but it's a bit closer to rambling now. He doesn't mind though. The sound of your voice in either form is always enough to entertain him.
Every so often, you pull at his thick forearm, indicating you want a little gulp. Most of the time, he obliges you, raising the drink to your mouth and letting you have some.
He's not sure what it is about seeing you like this that gets his blood pumping, but sure enough, after watching your eyes flutter and your mouth swallow a few times, he feels the familiar sensation of heat pooling in his gut. Like a slow whirlpool, it lingers, teasing the idea of sinking.
His fingertips glide along your jawline as you drink, keeping your head at a suitable angle. He notices how glossy your eyes have become - similar to that of a doll's. When you pull back after a few moments, your lips shine with traces of beer. His dick throbs at the way your lids droop slightly when you give him a big, sweet smile.
"Why're you staring at me?" you ask playfully.
"I'm not... Now I know you've had too much - you're seeing things," he says, voice lowering as he leans in to kiss at your neck.
You hiccup a small laugh and shake your head. "I am not," you respond.
He smiles against your skin, but his lips don't deviate from their task. They continue moving along your neck, laying hot pecks along the column of your throat. The wet sensation makes you squirm a bit, soft whimpers spilling from your lips. He can feel his cock filling out in response.
Pulling back a little, he glances at your face. His own eyes are becoming a bit hooded by lust now. He brings the can back to your mouth.
"Take another drink for me, honey," he directs, "Want you to finish it off."
"Mkay," you hum and accept the liquid being poured into your mouth.
His eyes fixate on you as you swallow it down. He can hear the small clicks of your throat with each mouthful you take. His thumb rises to the corner of your mouth to swipe away the bit of excess that drips from there.
"That's my girl," he praises, "Nice and slow."
The low and smooth cadence of his voice brings a shudder up your spine. You keep accepting the liquid down your throat until no more oozes from the can at your lips. He pulls it away and looks into your eyes.
"Such a good girl for me," he says in that same tone, "Did you like that?"
You nod, a small, helpless giggle trickling from your lips. It's involuntary, a natural reaction to the man holding you right now when you can't think to stifle it. You lean back into the warmth of his chest. Your thighs press against one another and rub, trying to create some friction for the blooming ache between your legs.
He feels the subtle movements, the little back and forths on his lap. One of his palms lands on your leg. His fingers grip the squishy flesh, adding to the heat at your center.
"What're you doing, sweetheart?" he asks teasingly.
"Nothing," you say with a little smile.
"It doesn't feel like nothing to me," he says, digging his digits into you with a slight increase in pressure.
Your breath hitches, and your legs spread apart a few inches out of instinct. You craved his touch a few inches upward, ached for him to ease the tingling that resided at your center. He grins when he sees how your limbs move for him.
"You feeling a little restless, baby?" he breathes. His hands slide up to the hem of your shorts, teasing the fabric that rests against your leg. "You're getting all squirmy. Think the beer is making you feel funny, huh?"
"Little bit," you agree with a lazy nod. Your hand grabs his and drags it up to slot it against your covered pussy. You gently rock your hips to signal what you want.
He laughs at your bold display, letting you hump his palm but not doing anything to add to your pleasure yet.
"That's where you need attention?" he teases.
"Yeah," you whimper. You try to buck your hips more, but it's hard to get real stimulation with how he has you situated on his lap.
His smirk doesn't let up as he watches your desperation.
"Tell me what you want. Exactly what you want."
"You," you whine, "Need you to touch me. Rub my pussy. Gimme your cock. Allll of it."
His eyes blaze with desire at your words. Under usual circumstances, that took much longer to coax out of you. He'd have to really work you up to being so explicit about what you needed. But with the liquid courage in your veins, it all came much easier.
He rewards you by sliding his hand up and then tucking it beneath the waistband of your bottoms. His fingers venture down, cupping the expanse of your cunt before parting your lips and gently swirling his fingertip around your poor little clit.
A sharp whimper comes from you. Your legs writhe with delight while the rest of your body melts back into his.
"Those drinks just washed all the thoughts out of that pretty little head, didn't they?" he whispers, "Drained all that need down here. Now the only thing you're thinking about is getting this little pussy filled up."
You bite your lip. Heat floods your cheeks. But you still nod.
"Mhm. I can see it all over your face. Poor thing," he mocks.
He boosts you closer on his lap as his fingers continue to tease and flick at your sensitive bundle of nerves. His fingertips are rough, blunt contrast to the velvet softness of your folds. They swipe through your arousal. He gets you to whine a few more times before they coast down and poke into your entrance.
You mewl and arch your back. It was just the two of you, so you took no care to be quiet or subtle.
One slides in first and then a second. They're just fingers, but they're so fucking thick and lengthy. The stretch feels like the perfect warm up to what you really want.
He pumps them back and forth a few times. Your walls clench around him with each motion. He doesn't go too fast just yet.
Your head still spins from the booze, but the feeling is amplified with the waves of ecstasy washing over you. His hand that isn't knuckle-deep in your cunt holds you upright, occasionally groping your breast to give that extra burst of heat.
His cock hardens to the point of pain beneath your ass. He can't help it with how enticing you look, whimpering and fidgeting in his lap like this, completely lost in the pleasure he's providing.
"So sweet for me. So easy to get you all wound up," he murmurs. He grinds the heel of his palm over your clit, pulling more erotic noises from your throat.
"L-Logan. Need more," you stammer.
"You do? Already?" he teases.
A petulant whine erupts from you as your feet kick with desire.
"Pleaseeeee," you pout, "Need it in me. Need your big, fuckin' cock in me."
He chuckles against the side of your head. The words sound like your attempt at imitating dialogue from a porno.
"Yeah? Need me to ruin that tight little pussy?" he responds, mimicking the same style of speech.
Ordinarily, you probably would've laughed at the obnoxious nature of the words, but in this moment, you moan and nod eagerly.
He decides you've had enough teasing and indulges you. It is supposed to be a celebration after all. He slips his fingers out of you and frees his hand from the confines of your shorts. With you still on top of him, he scoots back on the wooden dock. The last thing he needed was for you to fall in the water mid-riding him.
The thought makes him decide to flip the two of you over entirely so that you're on your back against the planks. He could only imagine the other's reaction to you both trudging back in the mansion soaking wet, the scent of alcohol coming off you in waves.
You giggle when your head clunks against the hard surface, already squirming to get your clothes off. He helps you out with that and shoves your shorts and underwear halfway down your thighs. It would be enough for right now. The two of you could do this properly later tonight in the comfort of your bed.
He kneels above you and unzips his pants before pulling his length out. It's rock solid, yearning to slide inside you. He doesn't waste any time. His body hovers above yours, his bulky arms on either side of your head. He nudges his hips forward until his tip meets your dripping cunt.
You whine as he splits you open on the thick shaft. Your eyes roll to the back of your head. You don't feel anything else in the moment, not the rough wood against your arms or the cool breeze blowing over the both of you. Right now, everything is about you and him.
He pushes his cock all the way in and then drags it back just as slowly. Your slick coats him down to the base, making the swath of dark hair there shimmer with evidence of your connection. He grunts at how tight your pussy grips him. The wordless plea for him to never leave.
His hands stay planted against the wood as he begins to rock back and forth. Your legs stay bent up, pressing against his sides as he works.
You babble out words of praise, but they slur together and end up incoherent.
"What's that?" he asks with a playful smile.
"Said it feels s'fuckin' good," you choke out again. Your words fizzle away in an instant though when a hard thrust rips a squeal from you.
He chuckles and only pumps his hips harder.
"That right, baby?" he taunts.
Your head bobs in agreement, more mumbled enjoyment coming from you. You try to boost your own hips to reciprocate a bit, but you're too out of it. All you can do is lie there and let him make you feel good.
He doesn't mind. He likes the control over you, the duty to provide your pleasure.
"Taking it so well for me," he grunts, "Can't think or talk, but your body still knows what it's doing."
"Mhm," you whimper.
He smiles at the weak noise.
Your legs quiver in their folded position, the muscles in your thighs spasming as the feelings in your belly become harder to deal with. The blooming sensation of euphoria makes your brows furrow and your jaw clench.
"Oh, I know that face," he coos, "You getting ready to cum?"
"Y-yeah," you force out around whines.
You look so fucking cute like this, he's about ready to finish too. Everything about you is just so precious in this moment. The needy look in your eyes, the faint pout on your lips. All of it makes him throb.
Seconds later your hips buck and your back arches off the wooden dock. Your arms fly up and wrap around him. The sound of his name comes out garbled among other expletives and cries.
Every syllable is drenched with satisfaction, and it's enough to drive him over the edge as well. He's not as loud as you when he cums. His pleasure comes out in a muted groan, made even softer by burying his face against the skin of your neck.
You barely register the feeling of his release. Most of the time, it was your favorite part, but in your blissed-out, intoxicated state, it's harder to focus on.
The feeling that stands out to you most is when he slides out and peels himself off of you.
You whimper and grab at him. "Don't leave." you pout.
He laughs at your little display, shaking his head. "When have I ever left you, hm?" he asks and leans over to kiss your forehead.
You suppose it's true, so you don't protest further. He takes on the responsibility of putting himself and you back together. His zipper slides back into place before he tenderly pulls your panties and shorts up over your ass again. In a lazy attempt to help, you scoop up the used beer cans in front of you.
"We can't litter," you say before laughing a little more.
He decides to gather you up into his arms, carrying you back in the direction of the school. He didn't want you to trip and fall while inebriated. Plus, this would probably be faster anyway.
You hold the lot of cans in your arms like some sort of makeshift aluminum baby. Your eyes stay on his face though, gleaming with adoration. He notices the look and raises his eyebrows.
"What are you staring at me for?" he asks, mocking your earlier question.
"You're seeing things, old man. Think you had too much to drink too," you answer before letting your head dangle back over his arm, another laugh echoing across the open expanse of the field.

ok but I have Thoughts about the way Minecraft usernames translate to actual names, both irl and in fanfic. They’re definitely ‘obsessed with structure and grumpy at inconsistency flavor autism’ thoughts but still. I find it weird how we cut and paste the media we’re given to fit what we view as functional worldbuilding, and how that gets screwy when translating online names.
like, you’re working with several categories here. The person’s actual real name, their irl nickname, their gamer tag, a name possibly contained by or possibly the entirety of that gamer tag, and any extra pieces or symbols in the gamer tag. And you have the weird situation where those categories might not easily translate to a ‘First Name Last Name’ structure. For an example, we’ve got Phil Watson, who’s gamer tag is ‘Ph1LzA,’ and is called Philza Minecraft or Philza. The ‘Minecraft last name’ is a…. Bit? A joke? A reference to a bit of lore? It’s unclear. The ‘Za’ bit was put there for flair and is now an integral part of his name. Sometimes it’s his last name. Sometimes his real last name is chucked in there. the 1 in his actual username is literally never referenced in nicknames or fic it’s like it’s not even there. But that’s a simple one. What about Tubbo_? because we call him Tubbo Underscore. Like. We say the ‘_’ aloud. Why do we do that. What has possessed us to make that decision? What about FitMC? I’ve usually heard it said ‘Fit Emsee.’ Why say that, and not say ‘Minecraft? That’s not even really a last name, it’s just like…. His full first name. Fit is used more like a shortened nickname. BadBoyHalo. Like. ‘Bad boy’ is a slang term, not a name. It would make the most sense to call him Halo, that’s the distinct noun in the name, the term the ‘bad boy’ bit is referring to. Like ‘GoodTimesWithScar’ but noooo. Bad. Halo is usually a last name, if it’s there at all. Skeppy on the other hand is… just his name. No last name ever. Technoblade is also weird. Technoblade is his full name. We call him that. We ALSO call him ‘Techno,’ and use Blade as a last name. We also use Blade as a title. What the heck. GeminiTay. We call her Gem. We use Tay as a last name sometimes. Her name is a Zodiac constellation. Literally nowhere I’m have I seen that affect her naming conventions. IJevin. We just… remove the I. For everything. This wouldn’t bother me except we don’t do it with everyone and I’m starting to get annoyed by the inconsistency. GoodTimesWithScar. Ok. This one also bugs me. Like, most fics call him Scar Goodtimes when they need a name. I’m not gonna dig into it but that’s…. Why? Why that? Grian never gets a last name. Ranboo sometimes gets chopped into Ran and Boo but usually he’s an Underscore or he’s last nameless. Wilbur Soot functions wonderfully (until the get involved shhhh) but it’s too close to his real name it gets very confusing.
anyway, all of this sucks, I hate it all, we’re a terrible fandom /hj
all that nonsense aside, yknow who has a functional Firstname Lastname username? It’s even got a space, and proper capitals: Mumbo Jumbo. That’s who. Look at that. It’s perfect. Everyone should be more like Mumbo Jumbo. Thank you and good night.
.
Edit: I know about Ranboo Beloved and Grian Dreamslayer and the various other characters whose names I didn’t mention perfectly in this post. This was no piece of journalism, this was an old man shouts at cloud meme personified. I was very overstimulated and this was what happened to catch my autistic ire. I’m not upset, just figured I’d clarify, a lot of people seem distressed at my not mentioning Beloved. Hope y’all are having a lovely day 💜

your hormonally induced clitoromegaly will NEVER be a real penis. stop calling it that.
where are your testicles? where is your scrotum? where is your shaft? where are your glans? where is your frenulum? where is your spermatic cord? where is your prostate? exactly. you don't have any of these anatomical structures. because you don't have a penis.
and enlarged clitoris is not a penis. forearm tissue transplanted onto your pelvis is not a penis. stop lying.
well first of all, i’m not sure who told you that dicks and balls are the same thing, but i’m here to tell you that having balls is not a requirement for having a dick. you can in fact have one of them without the other.
second of all, i’m so sorry to break this to you but i’m afraid you just don’t know shit about how bodies work. surprise! clitorises, with or without t, also have a shaft and glans. you just don’t know how anatomy works!
and as for everything else, i would love to know you why you feel the need to know! maybe no one ever told you this but turning a stranger’s dick into a game of where’s waldo is weird as hell. i’d love to have a word with whoever raised you because i know they didn’t teach you to talk to strangers like that.
in conclusion, if someone else’s dick makes you that mad, you have some soul searching to do because the existence of my dick and what i call it should not matter to you. it has absolutely no affect on your life and i would highly suggest you try spending your time caring about literally anything else instead.
#do y’all see this shit. who the fuck raised these people#anon hate#examples of transandrophobia#transandrophobia#transandromisia#transmisandry#virilmisia#virilphobia#anti transmasculinity#transmascphobia#trans men#transmascs

megumi loves…
a collection of things megumi loves about you.
gn!reader, no physical descriptions. so sweet it’ll make your teeth rot tbh. he won the poll so here’s the fic as promised!! literally wrote this on the bus and train rides this morning after having this planned for weeks. I literally love him sm he is everything to me <3
megumi loves when you play with his hair. the feel of your nails running along his scalp, playing with the nape of his neck- it’s calming. you do it most often when you’re both in his bed, cuddling after a mission or a long day of training. he’ll flop down on top of you, plant his head on your chest and sigh. he waits for you to do something, drawing the sweetest sound he’s ever heard from your lips (a laugh) as he glares up at you when you don’t move your hands. you’ll mumble out a soft “aw I’m sorry, baby,” before giving him exactly what he wants. he’ll press tender kisses to any patch of skin he can reach in thanks. you’d never make him ask twice because you know he truly appreciates this time spent with you and you’d never want him to shy away from you. you’re each other’s safe space after all, who would you be to deny him?
sometimes you’ll do it in public, too, but far less often. these are the times that you just can’t hold back- he’s so cute, why would you? he grumbles about it a bit, especially if you’re around people you know (he’s shy, after all), but can he really complain when you look at him so softly as you play with his dark locks? he’ll endure the teasing and reassure you that he’s fine with it if you start to pull away.
megumi loves running his fingers along your facial features. over the bridge of your nose, the apples of your cheeks, tracing your lips… he just loves your facial structure. it sounds like an odd compliment to give someone, especially if it’s the first compliment you give someone (and in his case, it was the first compliment he managed to stutter out after you offhandedly called him pretty when you were in the transition stage from friends to lovers), but he’s thankful that you seem to find it sweet.
he loves your face when you’re awake, so full of life and excitement that he can’t help but match when you’re both alone in the comfort of each other. the pretty smiles you’ll give him make his heart pump just a bit faster, the lovesick in your eyes after he kisses you… he wouldn’t trade it for the world. he’d do anything to keep you happy.
he loves your face when you’re asleep, too. especially after you’ve had a rough day. you look so serene and peaceful. even if you do drool or think you’re less than flattering, he always thinks you’re the most stunning thing ever. he loves when you scrunch your nose in your sleep, and he always places a hand on your cheek to smooth it out. he adores the look on your face as you slowly wake up and blink at him before cuddling into him further and sighing as you fall back asleep.
megumi loves when you get a bit clingy. everyone is a bit surprised when they see how all over each other the two of you can be (at least, as much as he is willing to show in public- which isn’t much, but for everyone else it’s huge) he loves it when you can’t help but wrap your arms around him because you missed him (you probably saw him less than an hour ago).
he adores the way you refuse to let him get out of bed on weekends, insisting that you need your fix of “never-ending affection” from him before can start his day. and he loves giving it to you. he’ll start with peppering quick kisses all over your face, smiling against your skin when you giggle and wrap your arms around his neck, not at all tempted to squirm away, but rather to pull him in for more.
he’ll be convinced to lay with you for a bit longer, of course, and do it without complaining. because at the end of the day, he loves to feel needed by you. he likes having you close to him more than he hates getting teased by his friends and gojo for being all soft.
believe it or not, he enjoys it when you initiate play fights with him. neither of you go all out- you do that enough on missions- so it’s just the two of you rolling around in bed, laughing and pinning the other down. he’ll pick you up and throw you back down, he’ll summon his demon dog to jump all over you so he can have the upper hand, just to keep you smiling. he knows physical affection is important to you, so why would he deny you of that? he never wants to make you feel like you’re not getting what you need from him.
megumi loves when you tease him. this surprises even him to this day, because he doesn’t like the feeling of getting worked up at all. but his working theory is that he enjoys the intimacy of it. you don’t tease him about every little thing, you know he doesn’t like that, but you do tease him about things hyper-specific to your relationship. for example: that one time he messed up the pronunciation of that word in an argument? you never let him live it down, but you’ll also never disclose the inside joke to anyone else. you might be a nuisance on purpose, but you’re also his number one defender when it comes to anyone else teasing him.
you also like to fluster him. poking him all over when you want attention, blowing air into his face when he leans in to kiss you… it’s all so fun for you. you’ll get close enough to his face to make him blush, you’ll tease that spot on the back of his neck that he’s never told anyone but you about, and he hates how easily you get to him, but he’ll tolerate it because he knows you’re just as easy to fluster as he is.
he loves to tease you back. as soon as you’re back in your room after a full day of not letting up on him, he’s got his arms wrapped around you, and he’s walking you backwards until your laying on the bed, staring up at him wearily… and then you’re screaming because his skilled hands are all over your sides, your ribs and your hips. and once you’re spent, he’ll lean in close to your ear and whisper his own teasing remarks (normally compliments he knows you’d have trouble accepting otherwise) to get you whining and mumbling out laughter-filled apologies he won’t be accepting any time soon.
yeah, megumi just loves you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
hope you enjoyed!!! it’s a different format from my other fics so lmk if you’d want this with any other characters!!
ultimately i think my insistence on aro positivity honestly is as much a political stance as a personal one.
when i say aro positivity is crucial and that i dislike doomer-ist posts that express sentiments like 'I hate being aro so much I wish I was dead instead’ it's not because I don’t think there can and should be a space for negativity and acknowledging self-hate, or the many ways being aromantic can really suck sometimes. i find that to be very important!
that being said. there is smth here about how self-hate posts are sometimes just arophobia that we inflict on ourselves. and when we put that out into the ether it (intentionally or not) can become arophobia that we inflict on other members of the community. i think there absolutely needs to be a place for negativity and the expression of anger and frustration and self loathing even - these are all good things to talk about because these are things that we experience. that being said, it can also be genuinely upsetting and triggering to people to have what is essentially arophobia shown to them and then have that be validated by other aspec people. your personal thoughts can affect your wider community on a level you may not anticipate. and i understand it i truly do! it took me so long to be able to recover from accepting being aroace - it threw my entire world off kilter and made me question everything about my place in the world.
but my insistence on aro joy and positivity is because ultimately i do believe that building is at the core essence of it all. that ultimately discussions and the purpose of community should be about construction, not destruction. and this is both a personal and a political stance. talking about how much you hate yourself and cultivating online discussions/spaces where negativity about aspec identity is the main and only theme is destructive - if that’s where we let the conversation end. these thoughts can and should be used as a vehicle to look for a path forward!
joy and positivity create a space where the focus can become on forging a path forward, on construction, on community building instead of tearing ourselves and others down with negative thoughts. it’s not productive or healthy when it stops at a place of negativity - it becomes actively destructive to the essence of community.
and i do think that this is especially poignant considering the fact that being any kind of queer, but especially aromantic (and/or asexual) means forging a path for yourself and making your own happiness where there is no obvious way forward. our communities exist mostly online (right now, anyway), there is little recognition of our existence in the real world, the effects of amatonormativity are both pervasive and actively dehumanising, and there are legal, economic and social structures in place actively making our lives more difficult. yes that all sucks! it’s good to acknowledge that. we need to in order to change it. but more importantly, that’s not the end. we are still here and our happiness, our future is for us to determine. even if we can’t change the laws or society, loving yourself and understanding aromanticism as a political identity (as well as personal), as a radical worldview, and as a protest against amatonormativity is essential for both community and personal well being. the personal is political.
tldr. i guess my point is that as a community, we should focus on building, improving, and nurturing ourselves and each other (construction) as opposed to destruction. we should recognise aromanticism and asexuality as political identities as well as personal ones and rely on community and self-love in the absence of anything else as a form of protest and political power. destruction (the recognition of everything that is wrong) is essential as a starting point - but where do we go from there? we rebuild.
#aromantic#aro positivity#aspec#aroace#aro#aromantic joy#arospec#when i saw its important to 'love' yourself - pls understand i am in no way trying to exclude loveless aros from this#that was just the easiest way to express what i meant! when i say 'love' i mean positivity/respect/happiness. etc. i just used that word bc#it works for ME which is why i said it. but feel free to replace it with whatever works for you! <2#also sorry if not everything im saying makes total sense i tried my best#this is something ive been thinking about for a while and have been struggling to articulate#i maybe should have read some theory for this abt community building but im too tired + overwhelmed w school reading right now so sorry.#if anyone has additions on that front though please do add them#also ngl im kinda scared to post this. i hope i explained what i mean well enough. like i get wanting to vent and express self hate BUT.#there is nuance to this and it is not unilaterally healthy i think. also i dont see any other online community fostering the normalisation#of selfhate the way the aspec one does! which makes me feel weird abt it especially.#anyway. this is basically my personal philosophy towards aromanticism#mossy posts#⚙️
Astro Observation Pt 4
I hope you all are doing awesome and the last few posts resonated with you! Also, thank you so much for 250 followers <33 means so much to me
here we go :)
1.Taurus placements really like food, cooking. I mean, we all do, but its a little extra with them.
2.Taurus moons really have a soothing presence and voice, however, they may come as highly opinionated sometimes. They are usually very kind and polite while talking and may like things like art, music, poetry or, reading/ enjoying such things and actively talking about it.
3.I read somewhere that 8th house is temporary death while 12th house is what happens after death, maybe that is why it is the last house. Example, 12th house Capricorns may come back to give/receive karma, 12th house Scorpios may learn and complete the soul lessons or karmic contracts.
4.I dont know how many people does it resonates with since I only know a few capricorn risings but more these natives like structure and order, they sometimes secretly wanna run away from all and everything, probably just disappear or move to the countryside lol...may even struggle with maldaptive daydreaming. Also, they definitely don't wanna/can't be tamed AT ALL...you can't tell them what to do lol ..I wonder if it has something to do with the Sag 12th house. They do accept opinions and suggestions, but very selectively
5. The birth of a capricorn sun/rising/stellium child can be karmic. In the sense that, they are here to dispose karma to other people, while learn their own. Maybe because the ruler is Saturn. One of the things that can follow is a change/shift in the circumstances of the family.
6. This makes me think, 12th house indeed can show our hidden thoughts or desires. People with Sag risings have scorpio in 12th house, and this can secretly make them wanna have some kind of command, control and authority. I am a Sag rising, and this holds true for me.
7. Speaking of NN in solar return, I read someone reblogging my post saying they believe NN can also represent the lessons you learn and grow from, I instead believe its more of a karmic/soul lesson/fated thing, that rather tranforms/grows your soul and you may go through a huge shift in your perspective and some life-changing experiences concerning that area of life. Something that we are moving into, and will affect us from that point onwards, like a new theme unlocking.
Chiron, on the other hand, is different. No one wonder chiron is actually call the wounded healer, something that hurts and then heals.
example, nn in 1st house can mean you will go through major themes and experiences that will make you focus more on yourself and finding your identity and purpose and this should affect your further years. more of a spiritual growth
chiron in the 1st house can instead mean you will go through experiences that will make you question yourself, some kind of identity crisis, that will further lead to you believing and finding your true self. more of a personal growth.
i hope i made sense. moreover, astrology interpretations are very personal :) and you dont have to agree with anything i said if it doesnt feel right.
8. libra moon imo is one of the best moon placement to have. they are able to present their emotions pretty nicely and in order and that makes sense somehow. This is also a placement for a hopeless romantic tho lmao.
9. Libra MC people may always look confused. Somehow even struggling to chose between a pastry and a cake lmao.
10. I think women with Virgo+ Scorpio placements are the ones that can make the best lie detectors/detectives/real baddies. They may also enjoy dark psychology/ true crime stories/thriller.
11. Men with Venus in Saggitarius may like spiritual/religious women.
12. I think people with Venus-Asc aspects may always/eventually find beauty and confidence in their appearance and themselves, and that is very amazing imo.
13. Women with Pluto-Asc aspects may like dominance in some shape or form and may have a really good self control and hold of themselves.
14. I will want to ask, do people who have Uranus Retrogade in their chart somehow struggle with breaking electrical appliances/gadgets often? Like it will just break somehow?
15. Having asteroid industria at 28 degrees can show you have a potential to earn huge money through your career.
16. Wherever Jupiter lies in your chart, is where you can expect divine protection. Jupiter in 10th house? Protection from people with malicious intents/a bad public image. Jupiter in 6th house? Protection from accidents and diseases. Jupiter in 12th house? protection from hidden enemies/backstabbing. Jupiter in 11th house? Protection from fake friends/people.
17. I have often seen people say you should marry your 7th house sign but i would disagree again. The 7th house/DC is more about the qualities we admire in other people, and what do we look for while forming ANY relationship with others and this does not always have to mean that you would get along with them romantically.
support me on ko-fi :)
thats all for this post<33 i love you all. Please leave post recommendations, if you have any in the ask, messages or comments :)
Who's FALLing for you?
Images from Pinterest. Deck used for this PAC : Golden thread tarot. General structure of the reading :
Mind : what they believe in, how they view romance and life in general
Body : what they look like, how they show affection towards you and in general
Soul : what they aspire to be in general and for you, what they hope for, their intentions.
For each section, a minimum of three cards will be selected. If there is a need for clarification, more cards could be added.
Group 1
Mind | The World, Hanged man, Temperance
We have someone here that is extremely cautious in life. This is the type of person that doesn't want to rush and likes to weigh options every step of the way. They value fairness, balance, equity, acceptance, open mindedness. This is a person that takes interest in differences and contrast. Someone that likes to take their time to fully appreciate life in general, to get to know people to their core, to get to the bottom of things. As a student, this person might have been the kind to make a lot of research to fully understand the extent of a subject. They might have spent a lot of time watching and reading content from the same creators to make their own opinion of who they are and what their skills are like. This is someone that views connection as a waltz. A slow groove that allows each participant to get a good view of the other, to test waters and freely evolve closer or further depending on the impact they wish to make. This person is mature, especially when it comes to relationships. They value trust and loyalty. They believe that it takes two to tango. That two partners should be free to roam as they please without it affecting the dynamic. This person values space and mutual understanding. They like to be on the same wave length as the people and things around them.
Body | King of cups, 9 of pentacles, 8 of pentacles
This is someone that has a good posture. They stand tall and proud but they never seem to look down on people. They have an enchanting presence to them. They instantly make people feel at ease by the way they stand, the way they walk and talk. Their appearance is inviting and comforting. I picture someone with a broad chest and arms that look like they would give the best cuddles. Their body looks solid and well built. They might not be of the most impressive stature but it is definitely obvious that they take great care of it. There's a clean vibe to them that contributes to the feeling of trustworthiness that they project. I picture someone with a soft gaze and a warm smile, gentle hands and a controlled pace. When around you, this person is extremely gentle and cautious. You may notice that they constantly look around, especially in your direction whether they directly look at you or near you. They seem extremely aware of your presence, whether they're counscious of it or not. When near you, this person may include you in everything they do, sometimes without even noticing. For instance, if they're about to enter a room and they know you will soon do the same, they may block the door so you don't have to struggle with it. When being confronted about it, they will say that it was just a reflex and they thought that it would bother them to have to open the door again when they leave. When in a crowded room, they will roam about trying to look like they're busy, talking to other people and chatting around before they approach you. To you, this may look like they're acting weird. But to them, it is a way for them to give you space and the time to decide whether you want them in your space or not. This person is extremely aware of other people's needs and in tune with other's moods. They show affection through acts of services most of the time. They may also use words of affirmation. But when that is the case, they always find subtle ways to do it. So to you, this may not look like they're complimenting or encouraging you.
Soul | The Star, King of swords, 9 of wands
This person would like to pave the way for you. They want to shed a light onto what lies ahead so you don't have to struggle so hard. They want to be your shield. I get a major savior complex coming from them. It may be a bit intimidating and scary to some, but actually I get very good vibes from this person. They wish to protect you not because they want to control you but rather because they want to create space for you to grow and in hope that some day you won't need anyone but yourself. This person hopes that they can be a guide and a mentor for you more than anything else. They want to ensure your success. And if that means fighting some of your battles on your behalf, they are more than willing to do so. This person hopes that you never have to go through what they had to endure. They want to use their own experience, mistakes and short comings as a stepping stone for your growth. A part of them would love to be your hero. A part of them would love to have you just for them in the comfort of your little bubble. But this person knows that they cannot control you and they don't want you to be that way. They want to see you shine. They want the world to be able to marvel at your light. They want the world to see the truth about who you are : a pure gemstone, a fierce fighter and an incredibly smart individual. This person wishes to be your ride or die. They want to be there every step of the way, whether you are celebrating your victories or struggling with your demons, they want to be by your side and remind you of who you are.
Group 2
Mind | Hanged man, page of wands, 7 of pentacles
We have someone here that is extremely patient and understanding. Someone that is able to show empathy and always tries to think of the greater good before focusing on their own needs. We have someone that has a rather youthful spirit, curious and playful, this person likes to enjoy the present moment. This is also someone that may tend to be indecisive. They need time to weigh out options and see things through all angles before they take a course of actions. This is also someone that is dedicated. Once they set their mind to do something, they go with it until the task is complete. When it comes to romance, this person values chemistry over anything else. They don't like to rush in relationships as it blurs the vision they have of their partner. This is someone that tends to be openly communicative about their intentions and feelings regarding a connection. They think that a romantic connection needs a certain amount of friendship to be fruitful. This is the kind of person that likes to be friends with their partner first. This way they get the opportunity to know the other without getting attached. This is someone that possibly fears commitment and intimacy.
Body | High priestess, page of pentacles, 7 of swords
We have someone here that has a very mysterious aura to them. They would look rather gloomy or discrete. I picture someone very thin, rather pale, that wears very dull colors. In terms of clothing, they wear things that are practical and don't draw attention too much. They may like to wear hoodies a lot, masks. They may tend to hide their face a lot. Or at least a part of it. If we're talking about women, this may be someone that wears a veil. This person is likely to enjoy very dark clothing, leather, boots and so on. I don't see them wearing a lot of jewelry or accessories. In terms of hair, eyes, I don't get any particular color. I just get the striking image of someone that looks really young. Way younger than their actual age. They may look like a porcelain doll. What is the most striking about them is their eyes. I picture fox like eyes. They look very witty and a lot of people may actually get scared of them because of their looks. This person may be told that they have a rbf. This person shows affection in very subtle ways. They don't like public displays of affection. They likely show affection away from prying eyes, through acts of service mostly and gift giving.
Soul | Death, 3 of cups, Hanged man
This person has been through a lot in their life. At the end of the day, they just hope for peace. They wish to feel good about themselves and rejoice about life. What they hope for this connection is that it is completely different from their past experience. They hope for a connection that will give them joy and lighthearted adventures. A connection that won't ask of them to sacrifice themselves. That will be clear and easy to navigate. They are tired of mind games and third party situations, of emotionally immature people. They just wish for a connection that will soothe their aching soul. They hope that with you, they can let that chaotic past behind and look to the future with hope and optimism.
Group 3
Mind | Wheel of fortune, 8 of cups, 10 of swords
We have someone that is very optimistic and cheerful, despite the sh*t they've been through. Someone with a very strong moral code and a strong spirit. Because though they may struggle with anxiety, overthinking, depression, they never stop fighting. They never give up. Their mind tends to be a dark place but it is also their best asset. This is someone that isn't afraid to leave everything behind if they don't feel satisfied. They have a sharp mind and a sharp tongue. They value honesty and authenticity. If they feel like you're fake, they'll cut you off. This person could be sacrificing a lot for the people they love, even if that destroys them. They would do anything for the people they love. In romantic connections, they tend to get attached pretty quickly which leads to them being fearful of being rejected or abandoned short after once the person finds out about their dark mind. They have a hard time showing affection and trusting people in the beginning stages. Their shell is pretty tough so they're afraid that people will get tired of them.
Body | Queen of pentacles, ace of wands, 9 of pentacles
We have someone pretty sturdy, strong, passionate. Someone with a good body structure, very sensual no matter what they do. They look good in any outfit they may wear but I feel like this person has a very venusian vibe to them. I picture them wearing lose clothing, transparent clothing, things that are a bit revealing and colorful. They also rock the business man/woman look. So they can also wear a lot of suits for instance. This person is big on accessories and jewelry, especially if they earn a fair amount of money. I'm picking up on expensive watches, earrings, rings. This person is likely to have very long silky hair, even for males. A very good skin that looks bright and youthful. I'm especially picking up on cheeks. This person is very cheeky lmao Think of Changbin from Stray Kids. I get a similar vibe from this person. They look fierce but also very loving. I get a mother like vibe from this person. They show affection through words of affirmation, acts of service, gift giving to the people that they trust and have been able to see past their barriers. This person has no problem being demonstrative in public. They feel pretty confident in themselves and their choices when it comes to love so they tend to show off with their partner.
Soul | Hierophant, 10 of cups, 10 of wands
This person hopes for commitment. They hope for the happy ever after, the "they lived happily and had many kids" kind of Disney trope. They hope for a connection where responsibilities are shared. A partner that will support them and be trustworthy enough for them to be able to freely evolve without fear of being left out in the cold. They hope for a long lasting union that will bring them a lot of love and success. This person wants many kids, a big home and a beautiful partner that they can brag about everywhere they go. They hope to be a reliable partner, someone that is strong enough to protect their loved ones from any trouble. They may pressure themselves a lot about relationships and love. This person may fear rejection.
