The Tattoo (part three)
After scarabias overblot, and seeing what Ace and Deuce were willing to do for you, you were so touched that you decided to get them tattooed on your body as a small heart and a spade. After that chaos ensues-
If you wanna read the whole prolouge, then it's here
Oh poor Idia, where do we even start for him?... poor guy is absolutely shattered as soon as he saw those two tattoos on you through the cameras. He felt his entire reason to live just shatter. He feels his entire world collapsing in on itself. He completely just, breaks down, sobbing to himself on the floor trying to rationalise how the tattoos were not real, to try to keep his sanity in tact.
The days after that disastrous breakdown, he has been stuck in bed, too depressed to frankly do anything but to sulk. He had not eaten, not drank enough, and his personal hygiene is downright awful.
Once Ortho has convinced him to get up because crowley demanded him to actually attend his classes or it's byebye NRC for Idia, his pity for himself has turned into rage. Whenever he sees the dumb duo he can't help but to want to do anything against them, he sure would LOVE to doxx them...
But after some reconciderence from Ortho (statistics show he would be one of the top suspects for it and therefore make the prefect hate him even more (he believes)) he instead chose to take care of himself, putting actual effort in how he looks as to win you over with that. He sure hope it works, please...
Don't think ortho is just hyping up his brother, cuz he is sure helping on the sidelines. Digging up info the students don't want anyone to know abour sure is easy when you have unlimited internet access (and some illegal ways to obtain the info)
That's the easy way of getting students away from you, but getting you trapped up with them is almost just as easy. He starts calling you his siblings as well, subtly telling you how you and idia would be the greatest siblings ever to him, even backing up and glorifying hos brother in your eyes, anything it takes to get you to chose idia.... you will all be a happy family....
Sebek, for once in his life, is stunned to silence. He cant quite grapple the thoughts and feelings swirling within him is making him feel quite sick, making him quiet for the rest of the day..
Once classes has ended, he bolts over to his dorm only to dramatically lock himself in his dorm room and let out the worst crying session ever. He is sobbing,
The whole ordeal and emotions results in him having the need to constantly watch over you, as a way to show that he too can protect you, he can be there for you, just like ace and Deuce, but better! Please, he needed you, he needs you to need him too, please...
Silver don't quite know what to think about this. He cant blame you, the heroic stunts of your friends sure are nice, but why with something so permanent? He could do what they did and so much more for you, give him an opportunity and he will show you.
After "the talk" the four of them had, he has had a hard time sleeping for the first time in his life. He feels exhausted yet can't close his eyes, pictures of you happily being with ace and Deuce clouding his poor exhausted brain. He will take this on the only way he knows, a duel for your love and your hand.
You're not dumb either, you see how tired he had been and the lack of sleep he has been getting, and feeling bad for him you let him sleep on tou if that would help him. He takes this opportunity and sure is greedy with it, wanting more and more sleep time with you. It's one way to claim you, and at the moment it's enough for him, but don't think he won't demand more in the soon future..
Lilia feels heartbroken. First that the prefect, his beloved, has shown this love that he would love to have for someone else (especially two people), it breaks his heart. What breaks his heart even more is how he needs to go against his own sons for his beloved too. But he will do whatever it takes to secure you for himself.
When he meets you after hearing about the tattoo, he tries act as normal as possible, not wanting to scare you away with his desperation. Despite that though, he will also try to advance, because he is NOT losing to all these youngsters, he's old enough to know exactly how to treat someone right. Let him treat your right, please, he begs of you....
Malleus feels like there's a storm inside him, getting worse by every second he thinks about that forsaken tattoo you have. He activately tries to think less about it, not wanting the whole school to be stuck in a storm for weeks, especially when you're situated in that poor awful old and decrepid building. He will try to smite ace and Deuce if he has the choise to though-
After the anger dies down, that's when the sadness flows in. The fact that he was not your favorite, that he was not worth his own tattoo, frankly brings him to tears. He has never been denied something in his life, especially something that he wants so badly. It's a foreign feeling, and a horrible one at that.
He is an attention hungry dragon, give him what he wants and he will give you the world without question. Just, please, give him the love and affection he both crave and deserves...
Chat, im tired. Let me sleep- FINALLY THIS SERIES IS FINISHED! or so I thought- o will focus on other comics/ideas before I come back for the endings tho, because I kinda wanna do other stuff and not just the tattoo shenanigans yknow :) one again huge thanks to @artdolliewishes for lots of support and help lmao
I hope yall enjoyed this shitshow of a series atleast, was lots of fun to create after all

Ęá´É´á´
á´á´ á´ęąá´Ęá´Ęá´É˘Ę á´Ęęąá´Ęá´ á´á´ÉŞá´É´ęą
đ§ Those who are ruled by Jupiter or have Jupiter as a dominant planet have it easier in life since Jupiter grants luck, happiness, prosperity. This depends also if you have good aspects to Jupiter
đ§ if you are favored by Mars (Having Mars in a good sign like Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn) there is a chance to have less fights/arguments/drama in your life, depends on the aspects of your mars
đ§ Saturn ruled natives have dark aura, dark does not equal bad, is just darkness, their beauty relise in the dark, is always secretive and mysterious
đ§ Lilith aspecting the ascendant can be prone to attract toxic people, some people can also think that you can be 'toxic' or 'bad' with these placements
đ§ Mars can feel more lazy when is around an earth sign/house or degree, it moves more slowly than usual
đ§ Pluto/Moon or Neptune in the 9H can be attracted by occult, magic, withcraft, tarot, etc. These placements are also called 'bewitched' in this house
đ§ I find natives with Pluto or Saturn in the 11H to be very secretive around their friends and social circles, like nobody knows them truly
đ§ If Pluto is in the 10H and badly aspected can indicate 'power - hungry' doing anything to obtain what they want which is not good in most cases
đ§ Jupiter aspecting your ascendant can bless your appearance and looks, something about you is beautifully written in the stars
đ§ I know people who have lots of Virgo Placements that would like to work in fields where they can help others, like a therapist, a doctor, etc
đ§ If you have no aspects or empty North Node, it can indicate that your life is not that much impacted by things, like going flawlessly with your life
đ§ If you have Lilith aspecting the Sun, you can end up being blamed for things you never did, Lilith usually takes the bad part of the sun which represents the ego and turns it against others
đ§ I know by a fact that air and water placements can get influenced by the weather, it can influence their mood the most
đ§ Neptune/Chrion/Sun in the 12H/1H can make the native to be moody in a sense of getting into a depressed state easily than others
đ§ People with their Moons in Sagittarius or Pisces may like to sugarcoat others, in a way to be more 'indulgent' to others and to keep their hopes high both being ruled by Jupiter
đ§ I don't usually talk about synastry but looking at the Venus in a couple synastry chart can show how your partner gives/offers love to you
đ§ Venus in Sagittarius, Gemini, Aquarius can have the best luck in finding partners who will give them freedom in a relationship, since your Venus can show 'lovely' things your spouse can do for you
đ§ Saturn conjucting Lilith is one of the most painful placements to have in a chart. Everything that Saturn touches it becomes strict. It can strict yourself from your sexual energy
đ§ Lilith in your 4H can talk about breaking bad things from your family, like habits, addictions, trauma
đ§ I deeply wanna talk about Scorpio and Cancer Lilith because both of these have issues with their emotions, feeling safe/secure comforted, lacking love from parents or partners, both signs struggle in these areas and these are not easy signs to have Lilith in, especially if you have a traumatic history
đ§ Uranus and Moon in the 6H are planets which pay a lot of attention to their mental health, they always prioritize it
đ§ Libra Moon/Venus/Eros/Juno will feel dissatisfied in life if they don't have a sensual/romantic connection with their partners
đ§ a Scorpio moon/8h moon will value intimacy a lot in their relationships, beside being important, is also a healthy way to express themselves
đ§ Saturn in Virgo or in the 6h, or at 6° 18° may struggle with organization, finding an order in their lives, can be chaotic and the person may find peace in a chaotic environment with this placement
đ§ Saturn in the 12H/Pisces/ at 12° 24° makes a native to be confused, about their life, their career, job, family, relationship. Is like you live in a fog and you can't see the things you have around so these things can confuse you
đ§ Mars is a cruel planet, is not a sweet candy and will not stay to sugarcoat nobody in life, Mars will put action in your life
đ§ Sun harshly aspecting the Neptune can indicate 'hiding' yourself from the world, you can be anxious around others, not wanna be seen
đ§ Your 4H can talk about your home and the way you take care of it, having harsh aspects to your 4H ruler can indicate having a hard time to take care of your house
đ§ Scorpio Venus can be invested in their partners sexual life, your partner may not give the same energy back to you while you may crave it
đ§ Earth Signs in the 12H may deal with their subconscious more harshly, they can constantly judging themselves and being critical which is a pain for your subconscious. Give yourself a break from all the negative things
đ§ Jupiter and Venus aspects match so good if you're looking for a partner or a relationship, you can be blessed with a good marriage as well
đ§ I heard that a good time to look for a relationship is when you have your Jupiter Return or that most people find their love during one
đ§ Saturn in the 8H/Scoprio or at 8° 20° can struggle with their sexuality, in a way that they may feel shameful to be sexual or to be more opened about these topics
đ§ Capricorn Risings usually have better years with the time, you can actually observe that the next year can be better than the last one
đ§ Chiron in the 7H have the power to heal their partners and their relationships/marriage
đ§ Every time Mars has a transit in your 10H you may feel like people have something against you or that you may feel everyone around you is angry on something
đ§ The sad thing that comes with a Venus in the 6h/10h in a relationship may be that either you or your spouse may overwork and you will not have that much time to spend with each other, someone will always be more focused on work
đ§ 'All night you gave me mad love' is an Aries Mars/Venus/Eros/Juno melody line, it fits with the Aries behavior
đ§ Pluto conjunct Lilith can make the native sexually powerful, your sexual energy is everything!
đ§ Aquarius Risings have an inner magic that not all the people can see, you need to be close to them in order to see their energy
đ§Aries/Scorpio/Mars/Pluto/Capricorn/Saturn in the 3H wont hold back from calling peolpe out, talking dirty, cussing, malefics are more in anger in the house of communication
đ§Earth Suns are so classic, so sophisticated, their fashion style is extremely beautiful, you should wear more gold to be in more earthy energy
đ§ I do not trust any uranus dominat/aquarius placements natives who are racist, sexist, homophobic, you know all these against the human right. (Usually i dont stand any people who are like this)... Like Uranus and Aquarius stand for being humanitarian and you are against it? JAIL and GOODBYE
đ§If you are Saturn dominant make sure to wear more black or dark colors because thats how saturn feels more appreciated by you, can bring you more benefits
Have a blessed day for everyone reading my astrology observations đđđ

Hair
Irene Paredes x Child!Reader
Summary: You help your Mami when she gets a red
Youâve travelled with Mami for once.
Mama is at home with your little brother Matteo but youâre not really worried.
Youâre a good traveller. Mami says so because you were born when she used to play in France so youâre used to going back and forth between countries. You know how to amuse yourself by playing or doing your homework or your reading.
Mami says youâre very responsible.
Since coming home to Spain and to Barcelona, youâve not travelled as much. Youâve stayed with Mama at home even though travelling and going on planes is much more interesting.
You donât know why Mami decided you could come with her this time but you have and youâre happy.
Or you were happy until Mami got her red card.
Youâre not quite sure what happened apart from the fact that her leg was too high.
You know all about high legs.
At Taekwondo, your teacher explains all about how head shots are very dangerous because the head is a very important part of your body and thatâs why people wear caps to protect them during sparring.
Youâre still kind of small (but growing all the time!) so youâre not allowed to do any head shots of your own. But you know theyâre dangerous and you know Mami is not going to argue her card even if someone else will.
âMami?â
âGo back to the bench, squirt,â Irene says as she breezes past you to the locker rooms.
When you were younger, that used to work but youâre nearly eight now and Mama says youâre moving under your own power so you think that means that Mamiâs orders donât work on your anymore.
âNo!â You say stamping your foot right in the tunnel.
Irene scrubs a hand over her face as she turns around to face you. âI donât have the patience to deal with a tantrum right now, squirt. Go back to the bench and finish watching.â
You stamp your foot again. âIâm not having a tantrum, youâre having a tantrum!â
Irene sighs. âIf you come with me now, youâre not allowed back out. We stay in the locker room. But you can keep watching the match if you head back outside.â
Your foot goes again. âWith you.â
Youâd inherited her stubbornness, Irene notes. Her hair. Her eyes. The tight set of her jaw. And her stubbornness.
Irene holds her hand out for you. You take it.
Youâre a different beast to your brother.
Matteo is still small, still practically a baby. She and Lucia had been worried about the age gap between you both. At nearly eight, you towered over him with your toys and your rambunctious nature.
You were not unlike Lucy and Keiraâs (and increasingly Ona's) Pup but maybe a bit lower energy now that youâre gotten older. More disciplined is what Lucia would say, now that youâve had your energy redirected into Taekwondo. Disciplined and strangely emotionally intelligent.
Irene supposes she should pat herself on the back with that. Sheâd never agreed with hitting kids even if itâs a little scuff on the back of the head to redirect them. No whacks, no spanks, no hits.
She talked your through your emotions and now that you were older, you were able to talk her through them too.
You hold her hand now as she walks back to the locker room.
âMami, are we showering?â
âArenât you a bit too old to shower with me, squirt?â She teases, grabbing her toiletries and a towel. âYouâre nearly eight now.â
You puff out your chest at the reminder. âIâm not going in with you! Just wanted to know.â
âIâm going to shower. You can take a shower if you want but you have to come into mine if youâre going to be washing your hair.â
You tug at the end of your braid.
Lucia likes your hair long and Irene has to admit that she does too.
Youâd come out with a full head of hair, screaming and crying your arrival to the world as Irene panted from all the energy sheâd spent pushing you out. Screaming, crying, with thick hair as you were gently rest on her chest.
Your hair had remained just as thick as then, growing quickly to the point that regular trips to get it cut were needed.
But washing it was always a challenge. Lots of shampoo. Lots of conditioner. Lots of time spent in the tub trying to get it all washed.
Itâs part of the reason why itâs done in the morning too. You hate the hairdryer but you hate sleeping with wet hair even more so washing it is always done in the morning so it can air dry before bed.
âWash my hair?â You ask and Irene nods.
âYouâll have to shower with me then if weâre washing your hair. Is that okay?â
You nod. âUh-huh.â
âAlright, squirt. Letâs go.â
Ireneâs original plan was to drown herself in the shower, to stay there until the match was over and she could finally face her teammates again. The red card was justified, she knows that but it doesnât mean there isnât still a bit of a sting.
She was happy to leave you on the bench, safe with the others so Irene could wash away her anger and resentment while you were occupied.
But now youâre here with her, asking to have your hair washed and looking up at her like you just know she needs something like this to keep occupied.
Itâs an easy routine to get through, to lather her hands with shampoo and massage it into your scalp. To wash it all out before moving onto the conditioner.
Two rounds of conditioner and you look up at her with a smile.
âI can wash your hair now, Mami?â You ask and Irene laughs, pushing away the wet strands from your face.
âI think youâre a little small to be doing that, squirt.â
You puff out your cheeks. âAre you sure? Iâve definitely grown since Mama last measured me!â To demonstrate, you stretch up to your tiptoes and reach as high as you can.
âMaybe when youâre taller,â Irene says placidly,â Come on. Grab your towel and weâll get out.â
Ireneâs just gotten yours and her own clothes on by the time that everyone else has arrived.
âWhoa,â Jenni says as she comes in,â Youâre dripping everywhere, squirt!â
Irene sighs as she turns around. âYou should have seen just how wet it was earlier. Absolutely everywhere.â
âWe can tell,â Codi snickers,â Thereâs a river to the showers.â
âIâve braided it back again,â Irene offers up weakly as she watches Alexia crouch in front of you.
âYou know youâll have to sleep with that wet hair,â Alexia reminds you.
You giggle. âNo, I wonât. We call Mama and Matteo tonight. Mama will see my hair. She wonât let Mami put me to bed with wet hair. She says itâs naughty.â
âDevious,â Alexia says approvingly.
You high five her and look back at Irene, who shakes her head fondly at you.
âWeâll be having words about your eversion to the hairdryer.â She wiggles her finger teasingly at you and you grin.
You stick your tongue out. âYou have to talk to Mama first.â

With death comes life part 2
pairing: Agatha x Rio x reader
a/n: this is sprinkled with angst and fluff
part 1
...
The surrounding trees are all twisted and dead, with heavy vines hanging from branches too high to reach. What you see is a barrier. A makeshift fence that keeps the witches to the road.
The air carries a subtle fog that lingers just out of reach, shrouding the forest of the road into the unknown. Even the leaves that make up the path are all dead. Only magic keeps them vibrant with false life.
You almost feel insulted.Â
Nothing here can sustain life. It never will.
The road is an abomination. It shouldnât exist.
And yet here you are.
When you look up at the sky, a feeling of loss settles in your chest. The sky is not real; the moon is a false imitation, and the stars are all wrong.Â
You will never not hate this place.Â
The soft whispers of a conversation tug at your attention when you notice the witches at your back are talking about you. With a subtle shift, you slow your steps and listen in.Â
They speak so carelessly about your reaction to seeing Agatha, about the anger they saw. About how they could use your emotions to drive a wedge where, unbeknown to them, there is a canyon.Â
In the simplest of terms, they want to manipulate you to their advantage because they do not trust Agatha.Â
Because you do not trust Agatha. Itâs insulting in the most human way possible.
Where on earth did she find these people? Why did she find them?
Thereâs something you're missing, you just know it.
The moment you hear Rio's name is the moment you turn around, you do not care what they are going to say. Their little conversation ends now. The shift in your momentum is fluid as you turn around mid step, eyes narrow in suspicion.Â
You keep your face blank when they all jump in union. The very obvious change of demeanor tells you they did not know you were listening in on them.
You let the silence linger as your eyes scan over the small group. They cling to each other for comfort, but it only takes a moment for you to recognize that their bonds as a coven are new. They are still easy to bend, easy to break.
âYou know,â Your voice is gentle, giving nothing of what you feel away for them to see. âTo betray one's cover on the road,âÂ
You spread your hand out to emphasize exactly where you all are. âTo break the rules only punishes all.â
âShe is the one that tried to cheat!â The pink dressed witch points out like you need to be taught, like she needs to tell you who Agatha Harkness is.
As if you don't know exactly who she is. It's almost laughable how much this witch thinks she knows more than you.
âAnd now one of you is dead. How tragic.â This is not the first and will not be the last time a witch loses their life on the road. Do they not understand that?
âBut that death is not her fault.â This time your voice is cold, stern. It feels like you're scolding children. âYou failed as a coven. So do not blame your misgivings as a group on her.â
When only silence becomes their response, you decide to turn back around and continue down the path. The next trial awaits, and you want to get this over with as soon as possible.Â
But a voice makes you pause.Â
âWhy do you hate her?â The unexpected question knocks the air out of your lungs and the world seems to stop. As if everything dead and alive waits for your answer.Â
Memories rush forward with such force you wouldn't be surprised if you can never breathe again.
The sight of a never ending forest, a small cottage tucked away from hunters and strangers alike. The laughter of a young boy with Agatha's hair and Rio's smile, a bright yellow flower in his hands.
The years before tragedy felt like a lifetime.Â
You were happy. You were loved.Â
You want to cry.Â
With a small hitch in your breath, you close your eyes and push down the tidal wave of emotions. If you become overwhelmed, the roadâs magic will latch onto you like a leech. You can't risk it.
âMy reasons are my own. Focus on surviving the road.â Your words are final, empty of the emotions that are battling beneath your heart. You know you can never pick up the pieces of yourself that are broken.Â
But for now, you can ignore them.
You will not let them see you like this. Never again will Agatha see this side of you.
When you finally catch up with Rio, you take notice of the house in the distance, the windows lit in a deep orange sunset light. The fog of your surroundings only adds to the ominous look of it.
That must be the next trial.
What catches your attention next isn't Agatha arguing with the boy. It's not the group of three walking over to settle whatever disagreement there is. No, it's the fact that Rio is leaning against a tree, feigning boredom. Her knife in hand, twisting it in her grip as if she's studying the blade.
The leaf in her hair is bright in color, almost like fire, and it stands out against the rich brown of her hair. As if she can sense eyes on her, Rio glances up. Her eyes find you in an instant and you give her a small smile.
She waits as you walk over to her and it's only once you stop in front of her, your back to the others, does she return your smile. She tucks her knife away and holds out her hand, a small flower blooming in her palm. âFor you.âÂ
Your smile turns bittersweet as you reach for the flower, the baby blue petals remind you of a clear afternoon sky. As your fingers touch the stem, it flourishes. Reacting to the caress of your magic that trickles from your fingers. You hold the flower for a moment before tucking it beneath your coat.Â
As you look back to Rio she pushes forwards, off the dead tree that she knows you won't touch. When she steps into your space, it feels like youâve broken the water's surface and can finally breathe again.
âYou look filthy.â You tease her before she can notice if anythingâs wrong. The dirt that covers her skin and her clothes gives her a rough look, and yet her makeup is as pristine as ever. Her hair looks like sheâs just rolled out of bed. There are twigs and leaves and who knows what else hidden in the mess of her hair.Â
âSays the one who also had to crawl out of a grave.â Rio responds, leaning just a bit closer when you reach out to brush your fingers through her hair. Her hand settles on your waist with ease, her thumb brushing back and forth in a soothing motion.
âWhich I'm assuming is your fault.â You voice your suspicion as you tug on the largest of the leaves you can see in her hair.Â
To summon a green witch, let alone any witch to the road, is almost impossible. You don't even know why they tried it in the first place.Â
Rio says nothing for a moment. She just lets you thread your fingers through her hair, pulling at the twigs and leaves you find. She licks her lips when you brush your thumb behind her ear, letting out a soft sigh as she closes her eyes.
An annoyed huff and angry footsteps causes you to pull back from her, suddenly self conscious. But Rio's hand catches your wrist before you can step out of her personal space. When she blinks open her eyes to look at you, her brow furrowed slightly. You can't help but give her a reassuring smile.Â
Agatha is storming off again. Because of course she is. She will not wait for the two of you.
âTell me later?â You know this conversation isn't close to over, but right now, time is essential. Rio gives you a small nod and only then do you step away from her.
Finding Agatha is easy. She's at the next trial, waiting for the two of you. The door is decorated with stained glass, the phases of the moon surround the centerpiece, which is the waxing moon. It's almost beautiful if you didn't know that danger lies just behind it.
You feel Rio just behind you, watching the group intently. The graze of her fingers on your back is a welcoming sensation when you realize whoâs trial this is.
The protection witch.
With a quick scan, you find her easily, the witch with the red streaks in her hair. She looks the most nervous, hands shoved into her pockets, shoulders hunched.
The teenager is the one to usher her inside, voice reassuring. He calls her Alice and holds his hand out for her and once she takes it; he walks through the door beside her. The other two follow close behind, nerves elevated for what is to come.
When there is only you, Agatha, and Rio left at the door, the tension seems to skyrocket.Â
You clench your jaw when she looks at you as if she expects you to go first, but you don't move. The door stays open and no one moves.
When Agathaâs patient wanes, she jerks her head to the door, her voice callous, and yet she canât look at you when she speaks. âAfter you.â
Itâs only when Rio pushes her knuckles against your lower back do you finally give in. The very moment you walk through the door, youâre blinded by a light as bright as a newborn star. Itâs honestly a weak imitation, but that doesnât mean it can disorient you any less.
As the world around you slowly comes into focus, you notice two things right away.Â
One, the air is pungent with magic. Itâs so bad you swear you can taste it. Two, when you turn to look at the others, you notice everyone is dressed in seventies fashion attire.Â
Glancing down, you see that you too, have also changed outfits. You brush your fingers over the gold embroidered that stands out against the white design of your clothes. Small beads and complex stitches run in calm waves up your sleeves. As you turn your arm to follow the designs, you notice your nails are also painted white.Â
âDonât drink anything. Donât eat anything. Donât touch anything.â Alice tells everyone as she glances around the room with a distrust that runs deep.Â
âSounds like thereâs a story there.â Rio says as she looks at Alice, brows raised in intrigue. When she catches your gaze, sheâs not subtle as she looks you over. Sheâs adorned in black and gold. The low cut of her blouse catches your attention and you may stare a little too long. Her smile is predatory when she notices you looking.Â
âThe road isnât subtle.â Alice mutters, her disdain clear.
You glance around at her words, curious about the history that this trial will bring up.
The room looks like a music lounge studio. Instruments and microphones are set out like they are just waiting to be played. The floor is covered with different rugs; the lights have a certain aesthetic and even the walls are mismatched stones with different things decorating them.Â
Your eyes land on the grand piano when everyone gathers around a wall mirror that one of the witches has found, getting a clearer look at the clothes that now fit the aesthetic of this trial. You leave them to their curiosity and walk to the center of the room, a metronome catching your attention from where it sits atop the piano.Â
You donât notice her at first, brow furrowed as you brush your fingers over the edge of the piano lid. You hum a soft lullaby as your fingers tap to the rhythm in your head.
When you see her fingers graze over the piano, you freeze. When she finishes your melody, her beige nails tapping lightly against the polished black case of the piano, you step away.
You look at Agatha like sheâs a ghost.Â
Sheâs notâshe wasn'tâyou never told her. Rio doesnât even know.
It was only for Nicky. It was his song. Â
âWhat are you doing?â You back up when she finally looks up at you. She canât hide it when her eyes glance over your attire. You know her too well. The way her eyes linger just a little too long, the way she clears her throat before jerking her head back to the piano. She takes a deep breath, rolls her shoulders like sheâs buying time.
She looks like she wants to say something but stops short. When she reaches for her brooch, finger tapping lightly as if she needs a physical reminder itâs still there, you understand.Â
He told her. Of course he did.
Whatever Agatha is trying to accomplish by reminding you of a life you can never get back, you need her to stop.
You can't do this. The emotional whiplash is getting exhausting.
âWhy are you here?â She tilts her head to look at you, her expression clouded with suspicion.
âWhy are you?â You deflect her easily, asking your own question. To walk the road once and survive is akin to a miracle. Why would she come back here?
âI asked first.â She pushes into your space, eyes narrowed, her tone condescending. When you shift to move away from her, she grabs hold of your wrist.Â
You donât expect what comes next. You have no time to prepare as your magic comes alive with the contact. Itâs been so long since sheâs touched you that a lifetime couldnât prepare you for her pain.
The absolute onslaught of unchecked emotions feels like agony. Her touch burns. Itâs scolding hot with the centuries of anguish and hatred that Agatha has clung to. It seeps under your skin like a parasite.
You want to scream.
You need her to let go. Right now.
âI am not here for you. I want absolutely nothing to do with you.â Your words are brutal, every ounce of hatred you have ever felt is directed at her. You know you will regret this later but right now you are desperate.
Agatha steps back as if you physically slapped her. As if you ran a knife right through her heart. But she lets go, that's what you needed.
ďťżWhen you move away from her, cradling your wrist close to your chest, she scoffs.Â
âAnd they call me cruel.â Her voice wavers, head turned away so you can not see her vulnerability. Your heart already hurts but you say nothing.Â
The churning in your stomach makes you feel sick. You weren't expecting her to touch you. You weren't expecting your magic to respond to her.
Not like this. Not after all this time.
As you look down at your trembling hand, fingers clenching into a fist, you know one thing for certain. You didnât feel a flicker of magic from her when she touched you.Â
Agatha has lost her magic.

brie would go feral over virgin lust demon darling having like, a demonic form, preferably with big honkers
Yan "Delivery Boy" + Virgin Lust Demon Reader
[Very brief body horror]
-
"So.... A demon, huh?"
Friends tells friends everything. Their fears, their hopes, their secrets. That's how things play out in the movies, anyway. It's hard keeping up with people reaching out a branch of friendship when you seldomly have the stamina to keep up with them or even pick up their calls.
"Yeah! My mom was a demon and my dad's a regular old human.... Or- was it the other way around? I haven't talked to either of them in forever."
As skeptical as anyone would be in his position, Brie felt there had to be a pinch of veracity to your proclamation. Cuteness like yours wasn't a natural feat. His stomach was still raw with the flutters of anxiety retailing the night he showed up on your doorstep to be met with that clueless, charitable smile of yours.
"Oh, yeah?" Brie challenges with a small smirk. "Well if you're a demon, you should probably know what I do to your pizzas before I hand them over to you.
Brie's hands promptly fly over his mouth, every aspect of himself screaming at him for almost letting his own little secret slip through the cracks. Luck being on his side, you merely laugh off off his statement as you spring up from your place on the couch.
"You'd better not be stealing any of my toppings! I pay good money for every slice... Least I used to before all those vouchers you gave me... I can show you if you really don't believe me... I trust you, Brie."
Brie melts into the couch cushions, vulnerability and trust in your eyes welding him in place as you apprehensively fiddle with the sleeve of your shirt - awaiting his answer.
"O..okay." He stammers, tongue tied as the ceiling lights perfectly illuminate every one of your features that keeps him awake at night. "Sure, I guess... Show me."
"Great!" Kicking off your shoes, your limbs grow stagnant as your eyes roll back in their sockets - veins branching outward cross the whites of your scleras till they are reduced to a milky ruby hue. Your fingertips elongate, skin merging with the keratin of your nails as they sharpen into razor points.
Sickening cracks and pops can be heard as the bones of your spine snap to make room for more. Breaths piercing and ragged, your chest swells with each draw of air you pull in - testing the resilience of your formly loose fitting tee shirt as your bust ballons to your noticeable uptake in size.
Rolling your now forked tongue over flat teeth, your toothy grin still holds that realm of innocence as you gaze down at Brie.
"Well?"
Brie jumps as something heavy hits the floor - twin tails swishing back and forth in anticipation. Horror should have been the prominent force driving through him. Fear and terror is what he should have felt. Those were the emotions a coward would experience in this moment, and as a man who branded himself spineless for being unable to express his love to you in a normal and sane way perhaps he was braver than initially believed.
"titties...."
Cocking your head to one side, confusion takes the forefront of your expression. As your hair falls over your face, small, nubby horns can be seen at the bases of your temples.
"Did you say something, Brie?"
"H-huh?! Me?? Course not. You're probably just hearing the ceiling fan." He certainly didn't mention your chest- Nor was he seconds away from spilling into a feverish tangent about how desperately he wanted your massive breasts in his face, and preferably his mouth. That'd be crazy-
Brie peals out of his jacket as if it were on fire, balling and shoving it between his thighs as he laughs - shepherding his eyes anywhere but the dip in your shirt.
"Whew- Man, it's chilly in here! I should've worn longer pants! Hahaha-"
"I can bring you some blankets?"
"No thanks, I'm good! You're super cute by the way! Even more so in this form. Your tits- Fuck! Tails! R-really caught my eye."

Okay here's my Lan Qiren apologist masterpost
"He had Lan Wangji whipped! He's an abuser!"
That was Lan Wangji's punishment for injuring 33 Lan elders while defending a demonic cultivator who caused innumerable deaths in the cultivation community. You need to remember the setting of this story: Madame Yu whipped Wei Ying half to death just because she went "you didn't do anything wrong, your general existence is just mildly annoying to me." Lan Qiren deciding Lan Wangji get one lash for every person he hurt is NOTHING in comparison to the punishment he would have gotten if anyone else was in charge and it was the only way to clear his name.
2. "The Lan sect rules he enforces are too strict."
First of all, Lan Qiren is an old Asian person. I feel like that would be enough to make my point, but I will continue regardless.
The Lans have so many rules because they have extreme self-regulation issues when it comes to their emotions. We've seen Lan Wangji's dad ruin his life by trying to atticwife his lover, but Lan Wangji wasn't any better. If you've read the incense burner extra you know he got his first crush at 15 and his brain immediately went to fantasizing about violently assaulting Wei Ying in the library. Their hundreds of rules are stifling because they're supposed to be. If the Lans don't try to contain themselves they will ruin their lives and the lives of people they care about.
Is "don't talk while you're eating" even that extreme of a household rule? Like every family has some variation of "don't do ____ at the dinner table" and the Lans having their own version is not that insane.
3. "He was against Lan Wangji loving Wei Wuxian."
I need you to spend like. 2 minutes putting yourself in Lan Qiren's shoes.
Imagine you are Lan Qiren. Imagine you find out your brother broke his family apart by forcing his wife to stay with him. Lan Qiren was just a man who was thrust into not only taking care of the Lan clan, one of the biggest cultivation sects you can think of, but also his two traumatized nephews. Imagine cleaning up the mess your brother left you while having to raise two children that aren't yours.
Then you see your nephew, who you have raised like your own son, helplessly pining after the infamous demonic cultivator who has rejected him and teased him. You watch him turn against and injure his own family members to protect a literal criminal.
Then he comes home holding the child of the man he loves and you let him keep that baby and raise him. Because you see yourself in him. You see someone who just lost a loved one who was not a good person but someone you loved regardless. How many times do you think he saw Lan Wangji raising Lan Yuan and remembered himself raising someone else's children because their father was no longer there?
And then after all that Lan Qiren had been through, he didn't even try to keep Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian apart once he found out the truth. When Wei Ying explained how he'd been set up, he was one of the first elders in the cultivation community to give him a chance to explain himself. And after that even if he was cold to Wei Ying, he didn't say shit about the two of them having nasty loud gay sex in gusu every night.
I don't care. Lan Qiren hate will always be forced to me, he did literally nothing wrong and if I was in his shoes I would not have been able to handle it

Sun + Moon Combos Hot Takes
Sun in libra Moon in Pisces: PEOPLE PLEASERS! No seriously though these people try their best to charm the pants out of anyone (even ppl they donât like) they arenât opposed to lying to impress others as well. These people lie A LOT. They usually lie to appear more interesting to others and come up with some pretty extravagant lies lol. Itâs pretty rare these people ever feel comfortable being themselves they are usually always mirroring those around them. These people also live and breathe relationships. They love the idea of love and can go thru a number of partners before really committing (isnât the most loyal sun moon combo).
Gemini sun Cancer moons: this can be a very emotionally unstable combo. I notice people with this combo arenât really the most ambitious of people. Most stay with their parents longer than most as well. Their sun sign craves change and their moon craves safety so these people can have a constant battle in their heads of if they should experience new things or stay in their comfort zone. This can cause them to stay stuck in situations and environments that they shouldâve grown out of longer than necessary. if theirs no big earth influence it can be very hard to ground your emotions. VERY BIPOLAR. They are also more homebodies and quieter compared to most Geminis.
Scorpio sun Aqua moon: an enigma fr. Iâve only met one person with this combo usually cuz itâs EXTREMELY hard to actually get to know these people. They have the same vibe as a shadow. Just very lowkey, in the background. Usually these people despise the spotlight but when they actually make themselves known they are so MAGNETIC. Usually have very interesting/eccentric personalities under all that mystery. They are lowkey the definition of ânot like other girlsâ these people also give a sorta vampire vibe to them idk how to explain it.
Cancer Sun Virgo moon: super boring đ´ they are usually very predictable.. like annoyingly predictable to their mannerisms down to the things they say. Usually donât like to stray far from their comfort zone. They remind me of that one SpongeBob scene where the fish is on repeat going to work coming home eating sleeping and then at the end the wife goes âcoming to bed honeyâ âyes dearâ. Thatâs what I think of when I think about these peopleđ very basic taste in clothes and food as well. on a positive note though they are very loyal to the people they love and theyâll do anything for the people they love. Usually really hard workers as well. But overall I find this combo to be very bland đ next..
Aries sun cancer moon: these are the adult boss babies of the zodiac sun moon combo. These people get VERY DEFENSIVE over the smallest shit. They donât really like when people make to many jokes about them or teases them or they will lose their shit. These people can be sensitive about the weirdest shit. Most people donât expect this cuz theyâre usually harsh to others so when others are harsh back they donât expect such an emotional reaction. They have a lot of emotional resilience however and are way more intuitive than most Aries. These are the least confrontational of the Aries I notice as well. Theyâre more passive aggressive/manipulative when upset. I notice these people can become really rude and aggressive when other disagree with them as well. They deal with emotions pretty childishly.
Libra sun Gemini Moon: these are the pick me bitches fr. This combo gives dumb blonde energy. These people will flirt with anyone to get out of anything lol. ( it works most of the time) their constant flirting can get them into some trouble sometimes. They have a habit of breaking a lot of hearts from flirting too much đ this can be a big yapper combo too. These people sometimes donât know when to stop talking (especially about others) they LOVE gossip.ďżź
Sun in Aries Capricorn Moons: these people give Bully energy imo. They can be incredibly bossy and controlling when they want something done which doesnât win them many friends. I notice this combo can cause a lack of emotional intelligence, these people will say things super harshly without thinking how it can affect the other person (if they have strong water in the chart however this wonât always be the case). They tend to find weaker personalities to boss around too which I donât respect, they usually get too sensitive when someone can actually match their boss energy. I may have came off harsh with this one so Iâll say some positivesđ usually these people have amazing ambition and have the ability to make A LOT of money in their lives. Gives big CEO energy. Also this is a jack of all trades combo, they are able to do so many things, very handy.
Leo sun Cancer moon: usually have amazing/ healthy self confidence (makes sense since the sun/moon are both in their home) these people grow up knowing exactly who they are and what they are capable of even from such a young age. These people are actually sooo funny too. Their comedic timing is soooo good. They can however be more of a âlonerâ than most other Leoâs and have a big love for their family as well. Can have a problem however with putting their talents to action which can lead in wasted talent.
Virgo sun Scorpio Moon: gives Eeore vibes. No really though these people complain about everything lmao. Even if things arenât going bad they will focus on the most negative shit. Can be extreme pessimists. Can almost be addicted to shitty emotions in a way. On a brighter side these people are usually very magnetic in social situations and can make a good amount of money in their life because of their work ethic and organizational skills. Can attract very toxic people in their lives. Itâs like theyâre a magnet for toxic people.
Give me some sun+moon combos that you want me to talk about more in the comments 𼰠(last post of this got deleted)

"The Full Jacksepticeye & Friends panel from New York Comic Con 2024" on Popverse
Both Jackie and Marvin started off as jokes, but the way the community portrayed the characters had Jack more intrigued by actually forming the story. He admits that it was harder to come up with a story for Jackie.
James stated that the genuine humor within Jackie's comics had him intrigued by the character and he fell in love with writing him.
Megan said she likes how genuine Jackie feels, in that he is a very relatable character for most. She especially likes Jackie's clear sense of anxiety about everything. She also stated that she is all for balancing the comedy and emotions within the story through coloring.
The original intent for Jackie was supposed to be the relatable style of "when I'm doing this I feel on top of the world but when I'm dealing with real life it becomes more depressing" for Jack. Such as the example of Jack recording vs him normally feels like two different stories.
Magpie brought up the fact that most of the community views Marvin as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and Suzi even jokingly mentions Sunspell before continuing the conversation.
Alejandro stated that when the characters were brought out to them they both were fully formed characters but Marvin was more fleshed out. He even states that he loves the fact that Marvin's magic comes to him so easily but in reality, Marvin is struggling more on terms of how to live life normally.
"What's Next? Coming in 2025"
Jack speaks about how they are at the midpoint of the story and he mentions how he wants the finale of these egos to be good.
There is a reason that Jackie and Marvin were done together at the same time, but nothing more was said.
After the IRIS game trailer was shown Jack mentions that there is no release date yet but it is heavily inspired by Observation Duty and Overnight Watch.
He stated the first game will be free and that there are plenty of more games to come in the future.
"QnA"
"Is there going to be any cameos within Jackie's story like how there is in Marvin's?" They said the story is still going and they can take it as a suggestion.
"For the writers is there any possibility of a crossover?" They said it would be difficult to do in terms of the worlds merge and such but they also stated they cannot say anything about that as of right now.
"How was it to give your ideas to the artist?" Jack admits that it was difficult at first as it started with him alone but they now speak much more frequently so he can communicate his ideas.
"What was it like bringing mental health into the egos?" Jack stated it is the most important aspect of their stories and wanted characters people could relate to.
"Are you going to expand to other egos?" Jack admits they are just focusing on Marvin and Jackie for right now as he struggles with balancing multiple ideas at once. But, he did admit that he and Magpie spoke recently about the other egos and planned out more of their stories. Then stating he isn't sure if the other egos will be in comic form.
"If you were to take Marvin and Jackie and put them together, how long would it take for them to start fighting?" Jack jokingly talks about how messed up an idea that is and then proceeds to state "Six minutes."

The Shuriman chanting from the song "Ashes and Blood" is one of the best lore tied songs in my opinion!
Translated, it means:
Beyond these walls, the storm's fury grows
Over land and sea, the storm's fury grows
But I have nothing to fear!
For the blue bird is with me
Which is a clear reference to the wind goddess/ wind spirit Janna Jinx was talking about in that very cave where she was battling Vi.
In LoL she's a deity that actually exists, she helps the citizens of Zaun, but especially children. In earlier lore, she was a Zaunite herself, a human girl who helped others, but was seen as a kind of saint (parallel to Arcane Viktor now? Who knows!)
Anyway, the lyrics can be interpreted as the following:
"Beyond these walls, the storm's fury grows / Over land and sea, the storm's fury grows" Janna is a protector, born from the prayers of those in desperate situations. For someone living in such a precarious state, the storm outside could symbolize the chaos, danger, or turmoil in the world, whether literal storms or the metaphorical struggles of life in Zaun or elsewhere. Despite this overwhelming fury, the speaker feels no fear because Janna, often depicted as a benevolent blue bird, is present to shield them.
This aligns with how Janna is worshiped in Zaun as a guardian spirit. The people in the harsh, industrialized, and often hazardous environment of Zaun look to her for safety. The "walls" in the lyrics could represent physical barriers, like the buildings in Zaun, or emotional barriers, a symbol of vulnerability. Yet, no matter how strong the storm outside, Jannaâs presence provides reassurance and protection.
"But I have nothing to fear! / For the blue bird is with me" It's Janna herself. In this interpretation, the blue bird becomes not just a symbol of Jannaâs watchfulness but also a representation of hope and faith. It embodies the idea that no matter how fierce the outside world becomes, the winds and Janna will always safeguard those who trust in her.
These lines mirror the hope and protection Janna brings. The blue bird, as a manifestation of her essence, reassures those in peril. To believers, the sight of a blue bird is a promise that they are not alone, and Jannaâs winds will shield them from harm.
In official LoL lore, it says:
Seafarers might spot a bright blue bird just before a healthy tailwind billowed their sails. Others could swear theyâd heard a whistling in the air right before a storm, as if to warn them of its approach. As word of these omens spread, sightings of the bird grew more common. Some even swore they had seen the bird transform into a woman. With tapered ears and flowing hair, this mysterious maiden was said to float above the water and direct the wind with a flick of her staff.
It's great how Arcane built parallels between Jinx and Viktor honestly. Janna is fictitious in the world of Arcane, but to me, Jinx is the blue bird that appeared before the storm/ rage of Piltover (as we will soon see when she starts the revolution, hence the blue flag she holds in ber hand in the trailer) and Viktor being the savior who helps the Zaunites in some other way, especially at the mention of Janna's staff and Viktor himself having a staff.

You know what, yeah, that bell hooks quotation wasn't appropriate, it doesn't say what the person who added it think it says.
But I don't think it's fair to say that that man who everyone is pissing on somehow claimed we had to "hold his hand" or "coddle" him or whatever. Or even that women had to do it.
He never once even mentioned the word 'woman' in that post. I'm not excluding that that what he was implying - it's very possible! - but what he said was "the left", and let's be clear, this is his understanding of what the left is. I saw people saying that a "self-proclaimed leftist" should understand that his answer was still drenched in patriarchal thinking. But he never once proclaimed he was a leftist. Perhaps he thinks he is, but all he said was that he got "out" of the "alt-right". For all we know, that means he voted for the Democratic Party and we, who are on the left, all know that's not the fucking left.
The question that was posed was how do we keep young men from turning right wing, and he offered an explanation. An explanation! Not an excuse! Again something that a lot of people just assumed.
And yes, it was a flawed explanation, and yes he has some things to learn, and yes it was uncritical and terribly phrased.
But can we recognise that not everyone has the necessary critical thinking skills to completely dig their way out of the overarching ideology that fucking rules our lives? Critical thinking skills aren't something that we are born with. It's something that is learned, something that you have to train. It's a never-ending project. And from what I know of the educational system in the US? That's not where you get it.
Speaking of bell hooks, at least she understands this. In that book (The Will to Change) she writes that "most men never think about patriarchy - what it means, how it is created and sustained." She writes how the patriarchy sees men's violence and the one emotion they're allowed to have, anger, as "natural". Understanding the patriarchy is something that has to be learned, and you either figure it out yourself by reading, but most of us probably had someone in our lives who talked to us about it, taught us about it, and then we might have started reading more about it.
What if you don't have someone like that? What if all you hear is that the things feminists tell you is bad is what was imprinted on you as "natural" to you?
Here's bell hooks:
Yet no one talks about the role patriarchal notions of manhood play in teaching boys that it is their nature to kill, then teaching them that they can do nothing to change this natureânothing, that is, that will leave their masculinity intact.
Here's what she says of her own brother:
As patriarchal thinking and action claimed him in adolescence, he learned to mask his loving feelings. He entered that space of alienation and antisocial behavior deemed ânaturalâ for adolescent boys.
She clearly pinpoints the moment of these patriarchal ideas taking hold to be in adolescent, and the question that was posed was, what can we do to stop that from happening? I've seen people say that nothing can be done until we change the material conditions that make it so that men systematically have power over women. And yeah, undoubtedly that is a fight we need to have. But is that truly the only way we can keep (some) boys from falling into the grasp of the (alt-)right? Is there no hope in at least reaching them in the meantime?
I've seen a post saying, "omg of course he goes for misandry" and while misandry isn't real in that men are not systematically oppressed, that doesn't mean that there aren't some out there who express hatred or disgust of men. That's not what the left stands for, obviously, but it is not absent. Here are some comments from the notes on some of these reaction posts (and presumably these are all people who consider themselves leftists):
"you should be hunted for sport"
"makes me want to commit homocide"
"kys right now"
"'leftists constantly said i should die' yeah fucking right"
"we need to double male loneliness and I'm not even kidding"
"I HATE MEN AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. THEY HATE US MORE AND THEY HAVE ALL THE POWER TO DO ACTUAL HARM TO US. Misandry is NOT FUCKING REAL but I wish it was"
"we should kill people who don't get it"
Is that hatred of men (non-systematically)? Not all of it, but some of it definitely or possibly qualifies. And it sure does look like some people (who probably think themselves leftists) think this man (or men in general) are the "scum of the earth" and that they want him/them dead. How else do you interpret some of these phrases?
Now imagine that this is something that you encounter online, and with the help of the stranglehold of the patriarchy, whispers of right wing ideology, confirmation bias, and negativity bias? I can imagine you might end up concluding they "hate you for your immutable traits" (remember patriarchy teaches boys that violence and anger is natural to them) and that they "blame you for everything that's wrong in the world".
Is that the right conclusion? No. But as much as being able to use reason is part of being human, so is not being immune to ideology and propaganda. We wouldn't fucking be where we are right now if that wasn't the case.
How do we teach boys that anger and violence aren't "immutable traits"? How do we educate them about the power of the patriarchy? Well, where does it have to come from if not from the fucking left?
Does it have to be you? No. Does it have to be women? Also no. It's probably good if it's men, and especially men who themselves walked with the right at some point (if someone has already been pulled into the right, rather than catching them before).
It can be a woman though, if there's someone who wants to do it. I don't mind doing it if someone wants to talk about it. Will I be nice? No, I won't hold back and I will tell them if what they're saying is wrong. Will I coddle them? Fuck no. Will I keep trying if someone clearly isn't listening? No. Will I be compassionate? Yeah, I think I will.
Because compassion is really important when you're trying to keep people from falling into the far-right, or even if you're trying to get them out of it (which again, isn't what we were talking about in the first place).
Here's Pete Simi, professor of Sociology, talking about Life After Hate, an American non-profit that tries to help people leave the far-right:
The organization was started by former hate group members who have been doing a lot of outreach in terms of providing testimonials and trainings to schools and law enforcement and other community groups across the country. The focus of their message is the importance of using compassion to inform prevention and intervention efforts and aftercare for individuals who want to change their lives but may need various types of support. I think LAH is a very promising development and I hope it will continue to find the resources that it needs to expand the services it provides.
Being compassionate doesn't mean coddling. It doesn't mean holding their hands and it doesn't even mean being nice to them. It doesn't exclude holding people accountable for their views. It does require patience, though. And I understand that if someone is holding the belief that you are not allowed to exist, that isn't something you can do. And that's fine. It doesn't have to be you.
But somebody has to do it, and it has to be someone on the left.
Now none of that means that the suffering of men under patriarchy, and the fact that this has to be addressed loud and clear, are more important than the suffering that women, and especially women whose oppression intersects with other levels of oppression. I've seen some tags on reaction posts that stated "omg of course centring men in discussions of gender" - but the post was about men. That was the whole starting point!
Because men do suffer under the patriarchy. And it's pushing them to the right, towards misogyny and racism, unless they develop the necessary critical thinking skills to understand their own suffering. And you know who thinks so too? bell hooks.
Often men, to speak the pain, first turn to the women in their lives and are refused a hearing. In many ways women have bought into the patriarchal masculine mystique. Asked to witness a male expressing feelings, to listen to those feelings and respond, they may simply turn away.
Since men have yet to organize a feminist menâs movement that would proclaim the rights of men to emotional awareness and expression, we will not know how many men have indeed tried to express feelings, only to have the women in their lives tune out or be turned off.
It is a form of abuse that this culture continues to deny. Boys socialized to become patriarchs are being abused. As victims of child abuse via socialization in the direction of the patriarchal ideal, boys learn that they are unlovable.
The patriarchal model that tells men that they must be in control at all times is at odds with cultivating the capacity to be responsible, which requires knowing when to control and when to surrender and let go. Responsible men are capable of self-criticism. If more men were doing the work of self-critique, then they would not be wounded, hurt, or chagrined when critiqued by others, especially women with whom they are intimate. Engaging in self-critique empowers responsible males to admit mistakes. When they have wronged others, they are willing to acknowledge wrongdoing and make amends. When others have wronged them, they are able to forgive. The ability to be forgiving is part of letting go of perfectionism and accepting vulnerability. At the same time, constructive criticism works only when it is linked to a process of affirmation. Giving affirmation is an act of emotional care. Wounded men are not often able to say anything positive. They are the grump-and-groan guys; cloaked in cynicism, they stand at an emotional distance from themselves and others. Affirmation brings us closer together. It is the highest realization of compassion and empathy with others. One of the negative aspects of antimale feminist critiques of masculinity was the absence of any affirmation of that which is positive and potentially positive in male being. When individuals, including myself, wrote about the necessity of affirming men and identifying them as comrades in struggle, we were often labeled male-identified. The women who attacked us did not understand that it was possible to critique patriarchy without hating men. Indeed, recognizing all the ways that males have been victimized by patriarchy (even though they received rewards) was a way of including men in feminist movement, welcoming their presence and honoring their contribution.
âin order to create loving males we need to love malesâ means teach boys that they can be themselves without being less of a man. it means being encouraging and nurturing of their emotions so they donât become cold and hateful. it means showing boys, early in their lives, that they have value outside of what our society deems proper masculinity. what it doesnât mean is that itâs our job to handhold men who see women as walking sex toys through the concept of empathy, and maybe if weâre really really nice to them and donât say things that hurt their feelings theyâll stop killing us for saying no

On Taash
I think one reason people keep pretending that Taash's character is badly-written is because they remind them of what they were like as a young adult: blunt, convinced that they were always right (and everyone else was stupid), and flailing around for an identity that didn't hurt. That often makes for an unpleasant person to be around, and someone who at times is even unlikable. But we never see the beam in our own eye while discussing the splinter in someone else's, so I think there's a certain degree of "well I certainly wouldn't yell at my mom like that!" (You would, honey. You would.)
IMO, Taash is one of the best-written companions in Veilguard precisely because they are thoughtless and callous and blow up at people for no reason at times. They're trying to figure their shit out! They got voluntold to work with the Veilguard without any warning, under a leader who's a complete stranger and alongside people she's never met and often has fundamental conflicts with. They've got an extraordinarily complicated relationship with their mom, who gave up her entire life and culture and place in the world out of love for them, but who withholds approval in a way that so many of us can relate to. They're confronting the wrongness of their old gender expression (woman), then embracing a new one (nonbinary) almost as soon as they learn about itâwhich is how a LOT of identity works, remember? Remember learning the term "trans" or "bisexual" or "genderfluid" and thinking oh shit that's me? It's relatable, but it's still uncomfortable as hell. Considering all that Taash has on their plate, including hiding a fundamental aspect of who they are (their dragonbreath), it's a wonder they're as stable as they are.
As for the conversations about their identity that people are claiming are "cringe" or "unrealistic"âmy babies, I have listened to more people talk through their gender and sexuality journeys than you've had hot dinners, and let me tell you they often sound a LOT like Taash. That's not a bad thing! But it's like learning a new languageâor heck, joining a new fandomâwhere you use the unfamiliar terms in clumsy ways and want to talk about it all the time, even to people who aren't fluent. (Taash talks about other shit too; yes, a lot of their quests touch on their gender, but a lot of them don't and frankly expecting someone who's only just figured themselves out to not talk about it is...kind of cruel. Of course Taash isn't a real person, but man I hope you people complaining about how often you have to "deal with" Taash's gender conversations don't have any friends who have trusted you with those conversations.)
Taash is extraordinary in so many waysâthe way they talk to Spite directly like a kid who needs firm boundaries; the possible romance they have with [spoiler]; the nuanced and emotional way they talk about dragons; the way they care for birds and refugees and anyone else in their orbit, if they're allowed to. They are one of my favorite companions (although right now it's kind of a seven-way race between all of them), and I have snort-laughed at more of their lines than any other companion by a country mile.
It's just a shame that so many people saw a reflection of the more grating parts of their own personality and so decided that Taash is badly-written, instead of considering the possibility that they are simply badly-heard.
#dragon age: the veilguard#veilguard#taash#I have a whole other rant about how Taash's fear and loathing of Emmrich at first isn't hypocritical at all#and while they're not very nice about it I don't think it's an example of poor writing#so much as it's an example of wanting women and AFABs to be nice all the time#even when they're seven feet tall and breathe fire#but that's a rant for another day

Related to your post about Mikey "accidentally delivering low blows when stressed" (Aug 2023) would you hc that it's related to his emotional awareness of his family? Like when he blamed Splinter for letting them go up to the surface, he would know Splinter was already questioning his decision to let them do that, or he calls Splinter out on not being affected by his mutated appearance (when Splinter looks uncomfortable being seen by humans/Shredder)? Basically, what are your further thoughts on it? Has he done this elsewhere?
The post in question for the curious cats
This compilation video as well because my big brain remembered me doing that and it's related to this topic and I meant to do a part 2
Oh, that behavior is 100% related to Mikey's emotional awareness. I'd hardly even call it a headcanon, it's just canon lol.
After not only botching their first fight above ground but failing to stop two kidnappings on their watch, the boys immediately start playing the blame game by pointing out each other's rash decisions and dumb mistakes that led to such an outcome. Obviously, the idea of Splinter's decision being yet another mistake of the sorts was hanging somewhere in the air waiting to be grabbed at, but no one readily went for it as something that needed to be acknowledged as mistake. That's why it's so fascinating to see the writers establish Mikey right out of the gate as someone who isn't afraid to comment on Splinter's decisions and his emotional state when he's making those decisions.
He was certainly aware of their father's doubts concerning them going above ground for the first time because a comment like that doesn't just come out of nowhere.
Granted, this instance was him speaking his mind in the heat of the moment and only realizing how much his words would sting after the fact (especially since they're the ones who convinced Splinter to send them off with their begging), but this becoming a continuous trend of his throughout the series further proves the fact of him being more aware of things than a lot of people pegged him to be.
In Mikey Gets Shellacne, his remark about Splinter telling him not to fret about his appearance when he could hardly bring himself to do the same can be interpreted as a more apparent example of him knowing more than he lets on. It's made rather obvious from the start of the series that Splinter wasn't keen on roaming the streets looking like a giant rat, but that's more of a show and tell deal where both the audience and the characters are left on their own to pick up on such an important yet minor detail. Splinter never tells anyone about his insecurity, nor does anyone in the series talk about it amongst each other, so a moment like this can be a bit jarring when it's framed as Mikey calling out Splinter's opinion on his own appearance.
Though the intent of his comment was to simply call Splinter old, the underlying insult is there and Mikey regrets saying something like that to their father of all people.
Other than letting his frustrations get the better of him and unintentionally plucking at Splinter's insecurities, Mikey is greatly in tuned with the emotions of those around him and will usually pick up on any changes rather quickly. Take these two moments with, funnily enough, him and Splinter near the start of Serpent Hunt.
I previously posted the first clip as a funny little observation, but the scene is more intriguing than my jestful sentence made it out to be. Mikey's attention is split between hanging his goofy pieces of artwork on the wooden boards and listening to April as she announces how the restaurant is starting to look like a makeshift home. It's not until he turns around to joke with her about his drawings that he finally has Splinter in his sights, and his attention evidently begins to drift to Splinter as April is responding to his question (you can literally see his head following Splinter's movements while April is speaking to himđ). And just look at how taken aback he is by Splinter's melancholic expression being on full display:
While Splinter answers Mikey by stating that he's concerned for Casey, Leo and Raph because they've been gone for a while, it's pretty obvious that's not all he's bothered by, and him not being subtle about his troubled mind like usual had enough flags raising in Mikey's mind for him to hop up from his spot. Once the scene transitions to the second clip, Mikey lingers with Splinter in the front of the restaurant while April ventures to the back in search of Donnie to check on his progress with the retro-mutagen, as well as to see if the others made it back yet. Mikey and Splinter decide to follow April as soon as Donnie utters Karai's name, and Mikey is visibly bracing himself for another look of heartbreak on their father's visage:
Splinter moments aside, Mikey recognizes when something is up with his brothers and friends, as well as whether or not he should step in. Of course the prominent moments of him demonstrating his ability to calm Leatherhead and Raph down count among the times when he steps in, but the times when he chooses not to step in shouldn't be understated either.
Take the pre-intro scene in The Cosmic Ocean for example, when April breaks the silence and questions where Leo ran off to. We understand where Raph is coming from when he says that it can't be healthy for Leo to confide in a simulated version of Splinter since it could just make him miss their father more than ever, but Mikey suddenly pops from his laid back position off-screen and joins the conversation:
He's knows as well as Raph that speaking with a simulation of their father isn't exactly ideal, but he also knows that Leo is used to coming home to confide in Splinter for advice whenever he feels his confidence as a leader beginning to waver. The whole gang knows all of this, but once again, Mikey's the only one to verbalize it. Sometimes people need to hear something so obvious outloud to really understand or remember its importance, and Mikey seems to know that best.
I don't really need to mention how his emotional awareness extends far beyond simply knowing when someone is down, or when he is or isn't in a position to help them, but it makes for a decent epilogue to this analysis so-
Him being the least (read: least) temperamental of his brothers automatically puts him in the position of a mediator when there's tension in the group, and it's common knowledge that he'd often go out of his way to ease that tension in his own ways. He sometimes makes jokes, both corny and intelligent, just to get everyone's minds off of the heaviness of a situation, even if that moment of reprieve only lasts for a minute. He attempts to break up fights before they get too far, which sometimes doesn't work because they're a stubborn bunch of turtles (literally the entire first five minutes of New Girl in Town lol), but his efforts are commendable and genuine.
He's exceptionally conscious of changes in the atmosphere and a swing in someone's mood, which could go hand in hand with his sixth sense for weird Kraang stuff if you think about it. But all of this comes together to paint an undeniably clear image of Mikey having a great amount of emotional awareness, and just all around being one of the most emotionally intelligent characters of the series.

hey there! i donât mean this in bad faith at all, and iâm not trying to use a term thatâs a fascist dogwhistle. i promise iâm just confusedđ
so iâm not a guy, nor have i ever been perceived as one, but in one of your recent posts, you said that men canât experience oppression solely based on the fact that theyâre men. which was kind of confusing to me â i donât think youâre wrong, i think itâs me but i donât know how to get to how you see it like that.
because in my experience, men can experience oppression because theyâre men, although i donât know if iâm saying that right or conflating the meanings of certain terms. iâm probably wrong, and would just love some clarification?
for example, my brother and i were always held to different standards growing up â it was expected of me to always cry and be emotional, and i was a âstone cold bitchâ if that wasnât the case, but if my brother wanted to show negative emotions like sadness he was treated like there was something wrong with him too. and i know it wasnât my brother â i spend a lot of time working with my high schoolâs diversity team, and in a lot of the events we organise, guys talk about how they feel enormous pressure to be angry and never sad, and to have stereotypically masculine interests and never deviate from that norm.
i also know men whoâve struggled to get jobs such as teaching as those are viewed as âfemaleâ jobs and itâs a common view that men who want those jobs are âonly in it to be around kidsâ. iâve heard many women around me perpetuate sentiments like that, so i know theyâre not making it up, even if it isnât equal to the systematic oppression women face in almost every aspect of their careers.
iâm not providing these examples to prove you wrong, since i do think youâre right. iâm hoping that a window into the way iâve always thought might help you clarify this in a way that can help me to change my mind, since i just think iâm lacking some clarity or context here. i think iâm conflating abuse and stereotypes with oppression, but iâm really not sure. any advice would be really appreciated!
iâm so sorry if this comes off badly, i donât mean it that way. iâm just trying to learn, i promise iâm not trying to promote the kind of hate and close mindedness youâve been seeing in your inbox as of late.
Hi! As always, I do not mind answering genuine questions!
The things you're talking about growing up and seeing boys around you pressured to present only certain emotions, that's part of the patriarchy!
Certain emotions are supposed to be "feminine" and thus boys shouldn't show them, while girls are often always considered "emotional" in some fashion. That's not oppression based on those boys being men that you're talking about.
It's the backlash that the patriarchy, and by addition trans/misogyny has on men. It's boys being pressured not to show certain emotions because those emotions are "feminine" and they're supposed to associate feminimity with weakness and shit.
What you're talking about there is also trans/misogyny!
The idea that men who do things perceived as feminine are predators, the idea that specific jobs are "female" jobs [while even in those specific female jobs, men are generally paid better and find it easier to get into those jobs than women trying to get into traditionally "male" jobs"]
[Though obviously this varies based on race and whether they're trans, etc, etc.]
To be a little more clear, all of the things you're talking about don't primarily affect cis men/boys. They fuck up transfems, because it's trans/misogyny.
You're right! It's not systemic oppression.
You might wonder if it's social oppression, which is also a no. Social oppression would require a historical/systemic oppression behind it. But that doesn't exist in this case.
What it is is the common issue oppressors run into. While they benefit greatly from oppression, there is also backlash they face from their own systems of oppression.
Like white people who fall into suicide cults trying to work towards white supremacy, or TERFs who fall into groups where they slowly pick each other off as they discover they're not all exactly the same and wind up accusing each other of not being "real" women, systems of bigotry simply do not work out perfectly even for the oppressors.
They never do.
To create the patriarchy, you must establish trans/misogyny, you must establish intersexism and you must push people to conform to those ideals, even if they hurt your own.
It's similar to how white supremacy can harm white people, despite white people obviously not being oppressed racially. The backlash of oppression hits even the oppressors sometimes.
Suppression, as a term, would honestly work far better to describe what you're talking about.
So yes, it's stereotyping, yes it's abusive to tell your children not to show/feel their emotions but it's not oppression based on these guys in your life being men! It's part of how trans/misogyny, transphobia and intersexism are enforced.
I understand exactly where you're coming from! It doesn't sound bad and I genuinely don't mind answering questions! Especially since you've got some good ones!
I'm not sure if I rambled too much to explain this properly but I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions and/or need me to clarify anything here. <33

"am i your wallpaper...?"
characters - ryomen sukuna x gn reader
synopsis - sukuna starts feeling unknown, scary emotions when he sees your lock screen wallpaper.
genre - fluff
warnings - sukuna might be a bit ooc, bc its so hard for me to write him...đ
from prompt special request (prompt #10) <3
"get off me, you insolent human." sukuna grumbled the moment that you threw yourself on his lap, whining about your exhausting day.
despite his harsh words, you still stayed in your place on the couch. you knew that man very well, and it wasnât difficult to notice his smirk (though he tried really hard to hide it). thatâs how you ended up with your head on his thighs, playing with the material of his shirt. in the meantime, sukuna was showing the not-so-obvious side of himâhe was gently brushing his hand through your hair. even though he shows himself as an intimidating and fearful man, your lover has a soft spot for you. some people that are close with you could even say that you have him âwrapped around your finger," and that wouldnât be a lie. right now, youâre just relaxing while the pink-haired man scrolls through his phone. he suddenly looks up at you when you start shifting and lift yourself from him.
âwhere are you going? i did not permit you to leave my side.â he complained, confused by your actions.
you rolled your eyes at his clinginess.
âiâm going to the bathroom; stop acting like youâll die if i leave your sight, kuna,âyou sigh with a smile. he was so cute.
you get up from the sofa and start heading towards the restroom. the moment you were away, sukunaâs smile widened. It was a brief while when he could show that heâs truly pleased by your closeness. suddenly, the king of curses hears something vibrating on the couch. he looks around in search for the source of the noise. thatâs when he notices your phone lighting up. he squints his eyes, looking towards the device.
âno, that cannot be right.â your partner mumbles to himself, seeing the picture on your lock screen.
it looked like the one that you took after your last date, when you both were lying in bed. he can swear heâs seeing things, because why would you have this picture there? what was the purpose? sukunaâs chest is full of weird feelings; heâs shure he never felt before. why is he happy? Is that... the thing humans call âexcitementâ? ... no, thatâs wrong. after all, he is the most powerful of all curses; he does not feel those trivial things, right? all of a sudden, heâs thrown out of his thoughts by quiet steps from the bathroom. your lover immediantly switches his attention from your phone to you. as soon as you see sukuna, you can tell that something is bothering him. you already know that he wonât tell you whats wrong, so you decide to bring it up yourself.
âhey, whatâs got you so annoyed? you look like you just ate a lemon.â you try to start carefully and a bit playfully, but sukuna does not buy it.
âyou, human. what were you thinking when you did that, huh?! i demand an answer.â pink-haired man ordered.
now you were seriously confused. you got him annoyed? but werenât you just explaining to him that itâs just a quick trip to the bathroom, not a whole ass journey across the world? now youâre getting mad.
âthe hell youâre talking about idiot?" you bark at him.
sukunaâs mouth opens but closes a second later.
âcome on, spit it out already; you got something to say, then go on.â you force him to explain himself. your partner takes a deep breath and closes his eyes, like heâs bracing himself for an impact.
âam i your wallpaper...?â he almost whispers.
when you hear him, you almost choke on your saliva. what?! he acts all annoyed and everything because you have him on your lock screen?
âwha-...kuna, is that why you looked so dissatisfied earlier? i mean, i can change it if you want, Â but...â
âdid I say I want you to change it?â he asks loudly.
now he looks at you like you offended him. this man is truly a confusing one.
âno, but...â you try to continue, but he doesnât let you.
âso be quiet. canât listen to your ramblingâ sukuna cuts you off. you canât help but start giggling. your manâs face is all red from embarrassment. heâryomen sukuna, the king of cursesâis blushing because his partner has him on their wallpaper. you jump back at the couch beside him, taking his face in your hands and squeezing his cheeks. his eyes widen at your action.
âyou...how dare you... insolent human, you have the audacity...â he stutters, and you laugh more at him.
âyouâre so cute, kuna⌠so incredibly adorable.â you teased and placed a soft kiss on his lips. when you pulled away, the curse man still had pink cheeks, but additionally a smile on his face.
âi like that picture.â he whispers.Â

Being sick was the worst.
Your nose was clogged up, your throat felt weird, raw and scratchy, your voice came out weird every time you tried to talk and your head was pounding from all the sniffing, your brain a foggy mess, making it difficult to focus on the most mundane tasks.
Seeing as you couldnât even finish one of the tasks you had set out to do for the day, you grew frustrated and groaned loudly, attracting one of your boyfriends who trudged through the apartment to your room to see what was wrong.
âWhatâs got you so worked up, baby?â â came Changbinâs voice from your doorframe as he leaned against it, a concerned frown gracing his face.
âI canât even finish this thing that I wanted to finish writing. This sucksâ â you pouted and made grabby hands at him.
Changbin sighed and took a few steps towards you before enveloping you into a tight hug, his big and strong arms feeling like a safe haven around you. Luckily, both of your boyfriends had already given in to physical contact with you, reasoning that if they were going to get sick, it was probably already too late anyways, so might as well not deprive you of cuddles in these trying times.
âHow about you stop for today, Iâll make you a tea and tell Hyunjin to bring some snacks on his way home and weâll just relax tonight and binge a series? Hm?â
You noticeably perked up at the suggestion, making Changbin slightly chuckle above you as he rubbed your back soothingly.
âCan I choose?â
âHey, Iâm in the minority anyways, you and Hyunjin always immediately agree when it comes to choosing what to watchâ â he shrugged and scooped you out of your chair and up into his arms, easily carrying you to the living room where he placed you softly into the corner of your couch. He tucked you in before leaving to the kitchen, phone in hand to order Hyunjin around.
As he disappeared into the other room of your apartment, you sighed and sank further into the blankets and cushions surrounding you. You felt truly blessed to have not only one but two very attentive and sweet boyfriends. It quite honestly made you a little emotional, your already exhausted body wanting to tear up at the thought of two people you loved taking such sweet care of you.
You rubbed at your eyes before the tears threatening to spill over were able to escape down your cheeks and instead focused on browsing through the available shows for later.
Changbin came back in with two steaming mugs that he set on the coffee table in front of you, retreating quickly to get a third one that finds its home beside the other two. You giggled at his choice of mugs, each one being a specialised one that was specifically made with one of you in mind.
Changbinâs had a big Dwaekki on it doing deadlifts, surrounded by many, many hearts drawn by you and Hyunjin respectively.
Hyunjinâs had Jiniret drawing a beautiful bouquet of flowers, also surrounded by many hearts from you and Changbin
And yours had a cat on it, similar to Jiniret and Dwaekki, holding up a pen and paper and looking real smug about it. Of course, you also had your fair share of hearts drawn by both of your boyfriends surrounding the kitty.
The sight made you smile, seeing the mugs together like this. This time, however, you couldnât catch your tears before they fell, alarming Changbin who was immediately at your sight.
âWhatâs wrong? Are you in pain?â
His hands hovered over your bundled up form, not wanting to accidentally cause any further pain. You felt kind of embarassed for bursting out into tears like this randomly, hastily shaking your head.
âNo⌠Just overwhelmingly happy and touched, I guess?â
The visible confusion crossing over Changbinâs face wasnât lost on you and you chuckled at the sight.
âIâm sick and youâre dropping everything to take care of me⌠Makes me feel so many things.â
At that, his gaze softened and he allowed himself to sit down next to you, caressing your thigh.
âOf course we would, youâve done it countless times for us as well, angel.â
A short while later Hyunjin arrived at home with several bags hanging off his body.
âI didnât know what you wanted, so I just got a bunch of stuff!â
âThatâs way too much.â
âYou know I snack, they wonât go bad under my watchâ â he grinned and plopped down on your other side, so he had one entire half of you for himself.
Not too long into the first episode of the drama you chose, Hyunjin clung to you like a koala as you leaned against Changbinâs shoulder, pressing his plush lips into your shoulder every now and then to reaffirm his presence beside you.
For the third time that day, you were close to crying. The warmth that spread throughout your body from being squished between your two boyfriends, one offering his strong and steady shoulder for you to rest your head on while the other acted like your personal weighted and heated blanket, made you want to cry.
Truly, what did you do to deserve the two of them?
Sniffing, you nuzzled further into Changbinâs shoulder and moved your body around, so Hyunjin could lie directly on top of you. You put your arms around his shoulders and pulled him closer into your embrace, breathing his calming scent in as you grew tired.
If this is what being sick looked like with Changbin and Hyunjin by your side, you think you could survive the foggy brain for a few more days.

Argument Pt 2: M.S
The cold air hit your face as you stepped outside, the quiet of the night wrapping around you like a blanket. The tension in your chest began to loosen, but the knot in your stomach remained. The whole argument with Matt had left you feeling exhausted, like your body was at war with itself between the physical pain and the emotional toll of the fight. You hadnât meant to storm out like that, but you didnât know how else to handle it.
You didnât even know where you were going, just walking, letting the cool night air clear your mind. The city was quiet, the streets empty save for a few passing cars and distant voices, nothing but the occasional sound of your footsteps against the pavement.
You found yourself at the nearby park, sitting on a bench beneath a streetlamp. It wasnât much, but it was a place to breathe, a space to think. Your phone buzzed in your pocket, and for a moment, you considered ignoring it. But you couldnât. It was Matt.
You hesitated before pulling it out. There was a message: "I'm sorry. I didnât mean it. Can we talk?"
You stared at the screen for a moment, the apology almost feeling too little too late, but something inside of you softened. You knew Mattâs pride was as big as his voice, so for him to admit that much meant something. The frustration in your chest ebbed a little, replaced by a mix of confusion and the tiniest shred of hope.
You typed out a quick reply: "I need space right now. I canât talk."
You sat there for a while, the screen of your phone glowing in the dim light as you waited for a response. When the buzz came again, you opened it to find a single sentence: "I understand. I just want you to be okay."
For a moment, you just stared at the words, not knowing how to feel. Was it genuine? Did he really understand? You wanted to believe it, but your heart was still heavy with everything that had been said. You couldnât shake the feeling that this fight had dug a deeper divide between the two of you.
You exhaled slowly and looked up at the stars, letting the chill of the night ground you. The silence was a comfort, though it didnât completely take away the lingering tension. You werenât sure how to fix things right now, but you knew you couldnât stay angry forever.
After a while, you felt your phone buzz once more, this time with a call. It was Matt.
You debated for a moment before answering, your thumb hovering over the screen before finally accepting. "Hey," you said, your voice quieter than before, the tension still not fully gone.
"Hey," Mattâs voice came through, softer than usual, almost hesitant. "I know youâre pissed, and I know I messed up. I shouldnât have been so loud, and I shouldâve listened when you said you werenât feeling well. I⌠I get it now."
You sighed, rubbing your forehead as you leaned back against the bench. "Matt, itâs not just about the noise. Itâs about not feeling heard. I need you to see when Iâm struggling, not just assume Iâll get over it."
He was quiet for a moment, the sound of his breathing coming through the phone. "Iâm sorry. I really am. I didnât realize how bad it was for you. I just⌠I didnât know how to tone it down, you know? Itâs like Iâm stuck in my own head sometimes, and I forget that there are people around me who need something different."
"Yeah, well," you paused, your voice steady but tired, "maybe itâs time you start noticing."
Another silence passed, but this time, it wasnât heavy. It felt like he was reflecting, trying to understand, really trying.
"I get that," he said eventually, his voice quieter than before. "I donât want to hurt you, and I donât want to make it worse. Iâll do better. I just⌠I care about you, and I didnât mean to make you feel like your needs didnât matter."
There was something in his words that made the anger in your chest loosen a little more. It wasnât perfect, and the fight was still fresh in your mind, but you knew this was the start of something. The start of him learning how to be more considerate, how to see when you were struggling instead of barreling through with his own world.
"I know you didnât," you said softly, your fingers tracing the edge of your phone. "But you have to hear me next time, Matt. I donât want to be the one always having to ask for peace. I need you to understand that."
"I do," he replied quietly. "Iâll make sure of it."
You leaned back, your shoulders loosening just a little, the tension still present but not as overwhelming. "Thanks," you said, your voice a little more even now. "I just⌠need a little time to cool down."
"I get it. Take all the time you need," Matt said, his voice gentle. "Iâll be here when youâre ready."
The conversation ended shortly after, and as you sat there in the quiet park, the cold air wrapping around you, you realized that maybe this wasnât the end. Maybe this was the start of a bigger change, one where both of you learned to meet in the middle, to understand each other better.
You didnât know when youâd be ready to go back, but for the first time that evening, the idea of heading home didnât seem so daunting. There was still work to do, but things would get better. You had to believe that.
As you stood up from the bench, the weight on your chest felt lighter. With each step, you felt a little more like yourself, a little more hopeful that the space and time would help Matt understand, and that maybe, just maybe, you could find a way to make things work between you two.
