my favorite thing about dog training is that it forces you (the handler) to become a better version of yourself; confident in the uncomfortable, adaptable in the unpredictable, and quite independent. you learn how to focus, and prioritize your goals. you become truly neutral, and realize how reactive everyone around you is. you learn self control and consistency, and benefit enormously from the spillover into other areas of your life.

people look at dog training as a silly little profession, i think. but, i think, it is no coincidence that some of the most adaptable, confident, and receptive people i’ve met have been canine professionals. successfully working with dogs requires a unique combination of abilities: the insight and empathy to understand another creature and think as they think, and the force of will required to be a consistent leader.

I think the change was that Severus finally had that upper hand on Igor that he'd wanted(??) but never quite managed because Igor would just laugh it off. Not even in a malicious way just in a sort of "you're so silly" sort of way. Their dynamic changed. Severus went from being a person he trusted to a person he still trusted but also to one he'd deliberately betrayed to save his own skin! That does something to a weirdly sexual pseudo friendship lmao. Mary was born Mary Aileen Macdonald in December 1959 in Scotland to muggle parents. She's the older sister of Michael Macdonald who was born four years after she was. She got her first name from her nan on her mum's side and her middle name from her nan on her dad's side. Growing up her dad was a greengrocer and she wanted to be one just like him. I feel like they could have had an English Cocker Spaniel when Mary was growing up though that might just be based off of the fact that I think that's an animal that represents her well

She was born with vitiligo and is mixed (Caribbean descent on her mother's side and Scottish on her dad's.) She's undoubtedly the prettiest girl in all of Gryffindor and she's known to be a bit boy crazy. I know some people hate this headcanon for her because female characters shouldn't revolve around male characters and I completely agree which is why that's not all she is!!! My girl Mary just falls in love easily and she always throws herself into her relationships. She's definitely got a bit of an insecurity about being loved for her body rather than her mind.

She is cherry!!! She owns that cherry red colour, she looks gorgeous in it and idk there's just something so cherry about her. She definitely wears cherry chapstick!! Those really cheap ones that smell lowkey super fake lol. Idk if cherry shampoo is a thing but if it is she's totally got it. I think Mary is a midsize queen and she rocks a fairly soft aesthetic that ends up looking a bit edgy because of all the red. She is the number one stealer of boyfriend hoodies/jumpers/jackets etc

During her time at Hogwarts she was sorted into Gryffindor and shared a dorm room with Marlene and Lily. I think she was a pretty average student. She wanted to be better but also she didn't want to devote more time than necessary to boring stuff like school lol. I do think she did really well in divination tho. She dotted all her i's with hearts and she made both M's in Mary and Macdonald into hearts (I made a little doodle to illustrate lol this is from the yearbook thing and I need to correct the D)

I think she's got a complex relationship with her sexuality. I'm kinda liking the idea of asexual Mary ngl. She's over sexualised by her peers and yet she didn't want one bit of it. She falls in love easily but why does everyone think that means she sleeps around?? She's extremely sex-positive and like,, wants sex for girls to be liberated and stigma-free and all that despite her asexuality and I think part of that comes from how people assume things about her and have no problem slutshaming her but they'd never do it to a guy like Sirius who actually slept around a tonne!! At some point, I'll do a fic or something deep-diving into Mary and her relationship with wanting love without it being connected to sex. Might be my first full-on MaryLily fic, who knows, I think they're cute sometimes

Speaking of Mary and girls I think she's so different with crushes on girls than on boys. With boys she's super out there, flirting, touching, batting her lashes etc but with girls she's much more shy and it's much more confusing for her but she's so sweet about it jnvjfnbjg

Just like how she loves loudly she laughs loudly. Her nose scrunches when she laughs. She makes sure all her friends get gifts from her at Christmas, even if it's just a small keychain or something from her dad's shop.

She spends ages getting ready in the morning and she spends ages in the bathroom in general making sure she smells nice, looks nice, the whole shebang. She loves to paint nails and she will offer to pierce your ears with nothing but an ice cube, a needle and a dream lmaooo

I think she was big into photography and she would run around with her muggle camera (that she put stickers and little sticky gems and stuff all over) taking pictures of everyone. Her patronus is a lamb because Mary had a little lamb!!!!

I don't think her dream of becoming a greengrocer stuck around tbh lol. I think she wanted to do something that could help other people and my Mary-as-a-healer dreams are out there but also my girl does not have the grades and she spent SO LONG sobbing in the girl's dorms when she found out she wouldn't be able to become a healer because of her lacking grades. I'm not sure what she ends up doing instead but I'd be so curious if anyone out there has any ideas!!

There's also the fact that Bruce Mulciber Jr and Edmund Avery Jr canonically assaulted her at some point during her time at school (at a time Severus and Lily were still talking so I'm thinking this went down in their fifth year) so there's also just,, that whole can of worms to look into. Igor Karkarov mentions that Mulciber (thought this could both be Junior and Senior) specialised in the Imperius curse though I doubt he'd have gotten away with assaulting anyone with the Imperius curse without being expelled; it just kinda tells you something about the stuff he's capable of/willing to do. I also believe it's actively Mulciber who attacks her and Edmund is more of a bystander?? I'm not entirely sure but that's how I understood it. I wouldn't be surprised if Edmund was the brain behind the whole thing though and cursed her to hang and dangle somewhere embarrassing by having her touch insert object someone would be likely to pick up off the floor or something like that

Maka Supplementals

Hey welcome to my "Maka Supplementals" post aka when you become so obsessed with an anime character, you start to treat any other character that looks like them as that character. I've been in this fandom and ancient amount of time and for some reason, I'll just notice a very Maka like quality in them.

Neiro from Kaiba

I'm probably ruining myself by starting with the best. Kaiba (2008) is really a series you can easily project not just Maka AND Soul but the rest main cast onto. I stg I thought Bstar and Popo had the same VA (they definitely have the same god complex). Naturally the pigtails and droopy eyes were a huge connector and the orange/green color scheme is frequently used to represent our fav duo. As for the story, it's mostly around Kaiba and Neiro being just out of reach of each other and a new technology that allows people to store and transfer memories to new bodies. Neiro also makes a good Kaiba type as a stern person in the present but soft and kind in the past/later on. She also has family trauma which may be a theme. On its own it's a masterpiece but I actually made my first SE friend in part due to us both separately coming into SExKaiba au art.

Mikan from Gakuen Alice

I only ever read the series but I figured anime art would pop more. Mikan, the mc, our classic lightish hair color in pigtails and you could possibly call her eyes droopy shaped. Tbh I can hardly remember this series since it's been 11+ years since I last read it but I do remember Mikan having mother issues. If I remember right it's a magic academy shoujo and I probably wouldn't have included it but I wanted to show off that cute angel outfit she's wearing.

Shizuku from Tonari no Kaibutsu

When I watched this series in 2014, this was the first time I said "Oh, this character is just Maka" and thus this list was born. Did you ever want to experience Maka in a Shoujo where her love interest looks like DtK but acts like Bstar? Here you are, the most frustrating romance ever. Shizuku Mizutani is a pretty perfect Maka type, she's quiet, serious, extremely studious, and constantly annoyed by everyone else's shenanigans. One day she's sent to deliver socially maladjusted Haru Yoshida his homework and naturally a classic nightmare romance starts. I'm not kidding when I say every episode one of the two confesses to the other who then turns them down. Honestly, that's the plot. The first confession is right at the end of episode one and it doesn't stop. Can't lie though, I love high school tropes and aesthetics so it's a fun way to reimagine the crew's life going.

Kirin from Gakuen Babysitters

Absolute baby. If you want to imagine was toddler Maka was like then Kirin is pretty good for that. She's not really a main focus of the story but Gakuen Babysitters is still surprisingly good. Kirin really feels like the tiny Maka we saw in Chrona's soul, very outgoing and friendly to those who aren't as confident. She often fights with a Black Star like nursery mate and has an aggressively doting dad that aligns perfectly with Spirit. One small story arc with her is wanting to be a witch. Not really a lot of anything but a cute detail to point out.

Marnie from Pokemon

She has pigtails and 2011 me drew Maka in the exact same outfit. Ngl, this is a real head empty one but I'm still not over that happening.

Nino from Fukumenki Noise

Sorry this is actually just another kind of annoying shoujo. Outside of the hair, Nino is pretty much nothing like Maka. Unlike most series where the story is a string of misunderstandings, Nino's naivety is often a major problem where she cheerily sings over listening to her best friend/crush's home problems and doesn't reflect on the ways her actions could be affecting others. So why is she on here? The music segments. There's this raw and unpolished nature to the singing that really just brings something special to it. Honestly just watch the singing proportions, ignore the bad cgi (in 2017 no less) and pretend its Maka "I don't get music" Albarn singing it.

Sana from Kodomo no Omocha

Probably the only series I've watched before Soul Eater on this list. I recently rewatched and kept feeling weird about the Maka vibes I was getting off of it. Sana does start the series pretty annoyed her schooling is being interrupted and her middle school uniform looks like the Sparoi uniform but her more core characteristics is being a child star and is extremely hyperactive because of it. So what was it? She's voiced by Laura Bailey. It's very interesting to hear her distinctive wobble in Sana's voice. Of course that isn't all, Sana has family issues and her genki personality is related to people pleasing so it's interesting to see when that facade drops. While the manga leaves a stronger impression, the end of 17- start of 18 has a few particularly beautifully scenes of animation.

Also something I want to point out is Sana's amazing wardrobe. Despite being 90s, the bright colors work great for Y2K looks that feel right for Mala's style sense. I wish I could use more than 10 photos to show them off. The anime uses a lot of long sleeves and skirts and the manga has some more trendy fashions like the fur trim cardigans that are popular right now so I'd look there for some outfit Y2K revival references.

How my OC's celebrate Christmas

Here's part one in case you guys want it.

✨Shiny Weasel (WFRR/Tooniverse)✨️

Shiny actually prefers Christmas off. Other holidays she's willing to work on, but Christmas is the one she most prefers to have a day off from the club. Not for any particular reason. She doesn't go to church or plan on even being out at a bar. She just wants to have a good day to detox before the New Year. And Christmas seems to be the best time to do that (though everyone wants Christmas off, so Shiny has had to find ways to put her request in first, or convince one of her coworkers to take her shift).

And since the moonshine is her side hustle, she just lets her clients know she won't be available on that day. If they don't like it, well, sucks for them.

If toons are drawn, Shiny has no memory of spending Christmas with anyone. Aside from the fabricated memories her character is supposed to have. But if toons are born, she does get a little sentimental; she remembers what it was like spending the holidays with her mother before she passed. Might put up some decorations around the house just in honor of her.

How Shiny celebrates? Since she's trying to have one more relaxing day before the next biggest holiday, she plans on just staying home, eating good takeout and fancy chocolates she bought herself, and watching movies or listening to the radio. And trying out alcoholic eggnog concoctions she experiments with. If she's feeling lonely, she'll try inviting Terry or the co-workers she gets along with, or even the TP if she feels like she can put up with their insanity. After befriending Poppy, Pops gets set on the top of Shiny's 'people I'd invite' list.

She does give gifts to her favorite people. Though usually the day after, as that is when she's back to work and has the opportunity to play Ms. Clause with her coworkers. The presents have been bought a while ago, though, so if she does invite others over, she'll just take the opportunity to give them their gift at her place.

Sometimes Poppy invites her over, and she decides to indulge her girlfriend and just take her little party over to her apartment. They both get to have a fun, chill Christmas party of their own.

All in all, Shiny prefers to take it easy on Christmas. One of the few days out of the year where she actually slows down and chooses the comfort of her home than the comfort of night ^^

🦊Henry Foxworth (WFRR/Tooniverse)🦊

Ngl, Henry doesn't have too many friends... Who am I kidding? He has none. He's too much of a cheating backstabber to keep his relationships for long. And he hasn't talked to his family in a long time. So Henry is on his own during the holidays.

Fortunately for him, the Christmas season makes people more generous, so he gets a better haul on average. Sometimes, if he's really lucky, he gets enough cash to spend a night or two in a really fancy hotel and spoil himself.

Henry also treats himself by breaking into one of Toontowns farms and hanging out with the chickens. He's pretty calm and careful around them, so the chickens actually don't freak out. Sometimes, he can even hold one. It's a rare, genuinely soft Henry moment.

He's... Honestly not that good at gift giving 😅 truly. Even when he's being serious, one can receive some of the most random gifts from him. Poppy still remembers how he got her a book about medicine... She's not interested in going to medic school, but it was a nice read!

🐺Moony Wolf (WFRR/Tooniverse)🐺

As a construction worker, it can be difficult to get a good day off. Though around Christmas time in Toontown, the weather does get pretty hazardous even for toons. So he can also get lucky.

Moony has his dad he can visit, along with Cake he brings everywhere. It's always nice to see his father. Or if he was just drawn, Moony still has his pet bunny ^^ and he makes sure to give Poppy a call, too.

He has a more traditional way of celebrating. Putting on holiday films, having a nice dinner, recalling old stories if he's with people, etc. It's nice to be able to do all that.

All in all, a more traditional/simple kind of guy when it comes to Christmas, but it makes him happy, so what does it matter? ^^

Yes, he gets his baby Cake gifts, too. She can have a few extra carrots on Christmas as well. My guy spoils that rabbit XD

💔Ben Cottontail (WFRR/Tooniverse)💔

If toons are born, then Ben has a normal family situation. A mother and father, maybe a few siblings, and they all carry themsekves as traditionally as him. They don't like how he ended up in Downtown or his drinking, but they still welcome him to the family Christmas party.

They also have a more traditional Christmas celebration. Gift giving, stories by the fire, etc. Along with Ben's mother asking him why he hasn't found a wife yet (to which he constantly claims that he just hasn't found 'the one'. We all know why he hasn't found anyone 🙄)

If toons are drawn, then they are just fake memories. Which only aid in making Ben more bitter around this joyous time of year. He's got no one to share it with.

On his own, Ben would either buy some wine and stay home, have a civilized holiday unlike some of the 'riff-raff' of Toontown, or just go to an extra decorated bar. He can tell himself that with the extra decor, he's sticking with the jolly spirit.

🐭Terry Ratt T. (WFRR/Tooniverse)🐭

Terry doesn't live with anyone, and so far no family (I haven't figured out his family. Though they could have easily just died of old age, I imagine Terry to be around 50's or so). But he does have some friends. Coworkers at the factory, and Shiny.

Sometimes, he likes to hang out with them on the holidays, but they have their own families and traditions, so Terry chooses not to impose on that unless he's specifically invited. More often than not, he and Shiny spend time together on Christmas, though he knows that this is more like a self-care day for her. So even then, it's not a yearly tradition for them.

It's kind of similar to Shiny,,how he celebrates. Though he actually goes out to do it; on his own usually, to a bar or a park or anywhere else, admire the pretty decorations. Just- more subtly getting into the Christmas spirit.

When it comes to gift giving, Terry is like that one relative you always got socks from as a kid, and only as an adult you really realize how valuable that was. He'll gift you essentials you may not even realize you were running low on. Living on his own, he's become pretty aware of what he needs, but knows that others struggle with it regardless of their living situation. So even if they may not appreciate it so much in the moment, it's relieving to him at least knowing they have that thing they need.

he treats his servants with respect and understanding, and he's usually not bothered by their hidden hatred of him

when he meets his partner for the first time, Leona is surprised to find the man working as a servant for the royal family

he immediately takes a liking to him, appreciating the timid nature of the servant

it's balanced out by his ability to do anything Leona requests exactly how he asks them to be done

he decided to ask the servant to join him at NRC when he returns for his Junior year, promising he can enroll as a student as well

he eventually confessed to him, first establishing that he wouldn't punish or send away the servant if he rejects him

he confesses that he's never felt more at home than when he's with him, that his timid nature balances out Leona's more brash and lazy one

when his new partner laughs soft and rubs away tears from his eyes, confessing that he'd fallen in love with Leona long ago, the prince feels a wave of relief wash over him

he immediately makes a plan to keep him as his personal servant, removing him from the roster of general servants

by the second month of their relationship, he barely asks him to do anything for him

instead, Leona actually starts doing small things for his partner like cooking or cleaning up part of his dorm

he wants his partner to know that he's loved and appreciated, not for what he does but for who he is

The reopening of requests at that time was really the catalyst of my inspiration. It is the shortest of the series of Small Things to Imagine but I consider it an important warm up for the reopening of requests and a weight being lifted off my shoulders!

#5- Leviathan 'Despair' Fanart

Oh my god drawing that was a pain, I did draft after draft and I was in so much agony coloring his table. But the song was so good my inspiration was on fire the entire time. You guys won't believe how happy I still am from the amount of feedback I recieved out of it. It's a simple fanart, but I felt I managed to send the exact feelings I felt from the lyrics and imagining Levi to all of you, and that makes me really proud no matter the imperfections ♡

#4- While You're Not Looking

The ammount of attention this one recieved in just one single day of being posted was NOT expected. It was again, just a moment of epiphany, and then I had many people screaming and crying in my notifications and all I could think was "oh god I broke them are you guys okay what the fuck is happening". All I had in mind while writting was literally just what they do when you're not looking, and only after some people comented on tags about the yearning this post reeked of that I realized what I wrote 😂. It skyrocketed in notes and it still has me dumbfounded lololol.

One of my first posts in this blog, it has been on top 3 for a good while before dropping down. It was incredibly fun to draw seeing it was literally a warmup from me staying months without drawing. I still feel sorry for the original artist of the base I used because it literally scaped my mind to credit, specially seeing I cropped the thing without paying attention to any signatures, and I also had no idea the original artist was on tumblr either, though I also didn't bother to search. Although it can be good if you can't get off the bed per example, on circunstances where you can get off the bed it's nothing short of inconvenient. But still, it's endearing to have someone go for the unnecessary trouble to have you eat breakfast in bed, and so this post was born lololololol.

Another moment of epiphany where I was high on the blushing faces of the brothers. Oh boy I was PUMPED while making that one. I was listening to the song mentioned on it the entire time and until today I still get so happy while listening to it. - so you opened the door, the cold air-conditioned room welcoming you and immediately took a look at the infamous boy that got the whole island down to their knees for him

- just because he has a pretty face doesn't mean that he could go and make your life harder than it is

- the sun had set by now, dyeing the once blue sky a beautiful orange, streaks of pink accompanying it

Appearance- I am 18 turning 19 this year. I was born November 5,2002. I’m 5’5 with glasses. I have a few freckles and a mole under my left eye. I have brown wavy hair that goes down my back. I have the typical brown colored eyes. I like to wear comfortable clothes but I like to style them too. I also really like the dark oversized clothes. I’m Mexican-American so I have a tan skin color. I also have a rbf which can make me look mean.

Personality- I’m a ISTJ-T Scorpio. In school I do a decent job with my grades and I have a group friend of 3. I’m kind of like the mom of the group, but every now and then I have my childish acts and stuff. I would also say I’m the loudest. I tend to be really loud when talking or laugh which gets me in trouble sometimes. I like to put people first and rather hurt myself then hurt others. I tend to spend time alone and I tend to distant myself if I’m feeling a strong emotion. I don’t like telling people my problems cause I feel like a bother, but people come to me for advice. I hate but love deep conversations. I love them because I can finally tell people what I’m really feeling and can learn a lot about the other person, but since I don’t really like talking about what I feel, I can also hate them. I have pretty bad anxiety and i tend to let my insecurities get in the way. i hate crowded places. I hate when people underestimate me and I always want to prove them wrong. I’m also really competitive. I also kind of believe in revenge. If they deserve it, they deserve it. Another thing about me is that I do tend to fall easily but once I fall for someone I fall hard. I have a passion for writing, reading, and makeup. Especially makeup. Since my insecurities were always a big problem for me, I found myself getting into makeup a lot. I have huge trust issues and if a person betrayals my trust once, it will take a long time until I trust them again. Also I’m not that affectionate, I mean every now and then I burst into affection but that’s rare. I don’t mind a clingy person, I’m just scared I can’t give them what they what back. I don’t cry when getting yelled at and I actually tend to keep a straight face. I do tend to get distracted easily. I laugh pretty easily but it takes a while to make me flustered, but I am kind of a shy person. I like being alone but I can’t stand the feeling of alone. Lastly, I am really sensitive, but I don’t show it. So when a person makes a mean remark and I laugh it off, it actually hurts me a lot. I will always remember what people say to me, especially if it hurt me in a way.

for the boyz, i feel like it would be juyeon! he's energetic when he wants to be, and of course likes to have some relaxing time with you. i don't see him as a book reader, but he'll definitely read to you when you're trying to go to bed or just want to wind down after a long day. since you said you wear oversized clothing, i feel like he always shares his clothes with you. he gives his hoodie to you and teases about how cute you look in it lol. whenever you're not in a good mood, he'll be there to cheer you up and make you laugh. yeon is constantly telling you how good you look because he means it. tbh, he seems like the type to not take his eyes off of you like ever 🥺 he also buys you things all the time even if you tell him to stop he doesn't care lmao. he wants to make his lover happy :))

lastly for txt i think you and soobin would do great together !! he's a pretty outgoing person and he carries a very relaxing aura around him. soobin wouldn't mind you cuddling up to him when you two are alone. he's not big on pda, but when you're alone he's constantly giving you cheek and forehead kisses. i also feel like he has a hard time communicating his feelings with people he loves, but he tries his best. he's definitely a member you can't miss because of his laughs and such. soobin loves joking with his s/o and he doesn't mind if you're loud or quiet :) he doesn't strike me as a picky person when it comes to who he likes. his heart wants what it wants !! he also seems a bit sensitive, so he understands what you feel like if you decide to talk to him about your feelings. binnies always there to comfort you and check in on you and i feel like that's his love language. he's also constantly sharing korean music with you and singing to you cause he knows you like music :) he's literally perfect pls 😭 hope you liked this one <3

reasons why you ship remadora and if you can explain them, why?? thanks!!

Soooo NGL there’s a part of me that just says “People don’t need reasons to ship what they ship” Buuuuuuuuuuuuut ya know things resonate and I can tell you what I see that I like so I’m happy to just gush for a bit! Even if I have a feeling this question was asked a bit condescendingly. 

So let’s start from the beginning! Book 5 when Tonks is introduced in the film it’s not Madeye that introduces her it’s Remus. And when he says “this is Nymphadora” She doesn’t get MAD at him when he calls her that. It always read as very playful and flirty.  For me the dynamic of two people who are broken and manifest it differently coming together is really beautiful. Remus and Tonks have a lot of beautiful similarities. Both are massive pranksters but clearly both are able to be serious when it’s important. Tonks is one of the most talented Aurors around. 

She’s the youngest full fledged member of the Order. Tonks is only 7 years older than Harry! Remus is only 13 years older than her. That makes her very very strong and able to handle amazing things. She’s not naive. She’s powerful and brave and kind and all of those things make her wonderful and honestly I REALLY want her happy and to have whatever she wants because of that. But why would she want Remus? Well he’s warm and kind and brave, all easily seen even if he can also be a coward. He’s incredibly smart and understanding.

Personally I look at Remus and Tonks and see two people who never fit into society. Remus obviously is a werewolf and is ostracized, but Tonks is special. She’s different and unique and the daughter of a PUREBLOOD and a MUGGLE BORN! That means she’s from two really opposite worlds AND she has a special unique skill that makes her stand out. Those couldn’t have been easy to deal with. For me from moment one in the books we see they have a bond and can be playful and sweet when Remus just lets himself be happy for five seconds.

In all honesty I know in cannon we don’t see much of their actual story but I do think we see more than we realize if we look at it. These are two soldiers. Both lonely and both deeply connected by their outside view of society never really truly fitting in. Besides that Tonks is lively and daring and can Pull Remus outside of himself to see the world in a happier way. He doesn’t have to reign her in because she knows how to control herself from going over the edge and she pulls out the best of him. 

Likewise I think he calms her down. He makes her communicate. She can’t just throw out ideas with him. As horrible as it is the “too old too poor too dangers” is really something that pushes Tonks to be stronger in her own opinions. Yes she loves him, great, but now she has to take the time to stop and think and present the situation. So I think to an extent they balance each other. Besides that the pranks they could pull together would be amazing. I also think that they are strong enough to support each other. Beyond that David Thewlis and Natalia Tena have amazing adorable Chemistry and do a great job of really looking connected even in the short tiny baby moments they did have and I will always wish for  more!

Do I think this is the healthiest most perfect ship with no flaws never: No.... Absolutely not at least not in canon. But there are really beautiful tropes they play into that i like like the dark one is soft for the sunshine one and falling for your partner and war time love between soldiers. I think that outside of canon I love them bonding over Sirius before he was caught: Her remembering little things from when he babysat her as a kid and Him remembering his friend before the betrayal and really helping each other come too terms with the fact that they had been wrong about him and what that looks like for the people who loved him (Platonicly and familialy).

I think their potential is beautiful and we really could have seen something very compelling if the story weren’t through the eyes of a teen ager. Harry is a VERY unreliable narrator ESPECIALLY for this couple so sometimes you have to look at people outside of the scope of the tone presented in the books. Was Pansy really pugfaced or did Harry just hate her? We don’t know. Things like that exist in this canon. In The books we know that Molly and McGonagall agreed that Tonks and Remus were silly for not being together. Arthur Weasley (Not known for being particularly observant) observed that it was a good choice. Even Dumbledore felt it was a good decision so clearly there was foundation and I’m not alone LOL.

I’m sure I have more reasons deep in my soul but I don’t have my books with me so I can’t search for more firm evidence and while I remember the movies more vividly I will forever hate the injustice they did of cutting so much out so I can’t give more concrete reasons rn but If I think of more I’ll probably add to this post. ok so first of all i feel like i gotta talk about how this interacts with trans magnus. i promise i’ll get to the fun stuff afterwards!!

i know some people like to go more into like, the realistic dynamics of a/b/o (trans a/b/o people, as in, a trans alpha who was born an omega, or like, sexism that has to do with a/b/o and those different new stereotypes, as well as like “non traditional a/b/o dynamics” like alpha/alpha or omega/omega relationships, how this interacts with new different sexualities (being attracted to only alpha females? alphas and betas and all primary genders? etc.) and how it intersects with REAL transphobia and sexism and sexuality) and like.... i have two takes on this i guess:

one: while this is not inherently wrong i guess, it’s just. not what i get from a/b/o. for me a/b/o isn’t a complex worldbuilding set to play with necessarily, although i def am one to ask questions and overthink worldbuilding even in the stupidest of shit. but like, i come to a/b/o for fluff (nesting, fluffy heat sex, maybe scenting and/or “mates” if i’m feeling it), smut (knotting, heats/ruts, etc.), and MAYBE angst but that gets into dodgy territory sometimes. (i’m a slut for arranged marriage aus tho ngl dfgkldjfdg.) like. that specific set of tropes is combined perfectly in a/b/o, and it’d be hard to do that in a coherent au as this is already established and saying “au where alec has knots and magnus has heats” is weird. the only other au that gets close is very specifically like a werewolf au which has its own trappings, you know? it’s a specific coherent and established au and it’s hard to separate the tropes i like from the other stuff.

two: again, i don’t think it’s inherently bad. but i do think that a lot of people who do this are basically just reinventing real issues like transphobia, homophobia/queerphobia, and sexism... without actually dealing with those things or the characters they would involve. and i think that it often strays into yikes territory. so like. i don’t love it. (also it does have some yikes stuff people do like going really, really hard on the oppressed omega angle, or worse, reinforcing the gender roles of omega = submissive soft weak baby, alpha = strong dominant and scary man. or sometimes they establish other roles but either way like, all their characters fall into that. and i think sometimes it kind of works for this feeling like a guilty pleasure trash romance novel where it’s just uncomplicated fantasy of being taken care of, but like.... even then it just gets dodgy, you know? also it does tend to get INCREDIBLY rapey.)

i often used a/b/o for the things i mentioned, and before i started writing trans magnus smut, also ironically as a way to sort of write trans magnus in smut without actually doing it out of fear of backlash/lack of popularity. and while backlash hasn’t been much of a problem, my popularity has definitely gone down fics-wise. (i get much less in the stats area on ao3 now)

and cis omega magnus is in a way basically trans magnus but he has a penis and there’s knotting. like i said, in many ways, a/b/o is sort of a way to write porn with trans characters while keeping to cisnormativity. i, as a trans person, took advantage of that to get more comfortable with writing it, but a lot of cis people use it basically to just. do that. you know.

so how do i reconcile this with trans magnus?

basically i say “fuck you, he’s trans AND an omega, i want heats/ruts and knotting and nesting and shit” and then ignore it lmao

like ok he isn’t cis. he’s afab and gnc and all the shit i normally write, it’s just like. he also gets heats and his ass doesn’t get wet dlfkjgdfg (god it sounds So Unappealing when you say it like that. now that i allow myself to write smut with real trans characters i could never go back to a/b/o--although, like. some a/b/o aus actually do have male omegas have a pussy but that feels even more slimy in the sense of just. make them trans.) and like alec’s an alpha and so on you know.

i basically just ignore all the complex worldbuilding shit and trying to figure out how sexuality and gender and the various -phobias and -isms would be effected by the addition of secondary genders and their trappings, and just go “fuck you” under the guise of an a/b/o au

tl;dr, so i have a lot of complicated feelings on a/b/o and how it generally is something i do not trust people to write properly. but i also am a total slut of a lot of tropes that are sort of entrenched in a/b/o specifically. namely, heats/ruts, knotting, nesting/scenting, etc.

let’s get into the fun stuff.

magnus and heats :)

ok so heats are super like. vulnerable, you know? i’d think magnus would take heat suppressants (ah another plot convenience in this au) because he doesn’t want to spend his heat with someone he doesn’t trust. that’s not to say he’s never had a heat with someone, or even that it’s been all bad experiences, but it never clicked super well i think and like, it’s something that’s very hard for him. because there’s a lot of vulnerability and trust involved, and he loses control and could so easily get hurt

also possibility: while he can take suppressants to lessen how many times he gets a heat, taking them consistently for literally centuries sounds like it could fuck someone up. so. perhaps. magnus occasionally spends his heat with a trusted friend like meliorn (not someone who feels like Family and therefore would it feel incesty, but def someone who is a close friend) and while he still doesn’t love the feeling of being that vulnerable, and it can be uncomfortable--it’s not like he’s looking forward to it--but like... he definitely does trust meliorn (and possibly other non canon characters?) and it’s not like it’s disgusting and miserable. it’s not like, The Same, but it satisfies the biological side of it and sometimes it’s even like. fun, you know? it’s nice.

ngl i actually kind of like the idea of meliorn helping him with these heats and being like a trusted alpha he knows would never hurt him like that. that does mess with any angst you want to go with him not trusting alphas or not like, having good experiences with heats/ruts (like in “stuck in a rut”), but like, different aus different stories, and anyway you could probably work something in there about meliorn specifically being different and someone he trusts

this is on and off, he sometimes does have heats with whatever romantic partner he’s with, although it... doesn’t always end well. so he has a lot of bad experiences, but at least with meliorn he has a good experience to look to, as well.
