okay okay Jude Reyes lore incoming

little breakdown first:

26 years old

he/him, pansexual, cis

played for the Trojans for 5 years

graduated with a degree in sports journalism

has adhd and depression (in the rambling bit tw right now for mentions of self harm and suicidal thoughts tying into this)

So yeah Jude graduated from USC at the age of 23 and he was recruited for olympic court when he was 25. He considers the Trojan's his family and still keeps in touch with all the upper classmen who he used to play with. He's very much taken the Trojan attitude into his professional career. He's known as a team player on the court and also a huge activist off the court. He's now involved in presenting the Day Spirit Award every year and he's incredibly proud to have been apart of the team consistently winning it. While Ilya falls into the Just Some Guy category, Jude really takes it up like 10 levels into Golden Child territory. He's the favored one for press duty and is most involved with his teams social media. He's usually the one to sit down for the little games or the ask me anything's or the interviews everyone else deems pointless.

Jude was diagnosed with depression when he was 19 after he came to Rhemann confessing that he had been self harming for a few months after the workload with his class got more difficult for him to manage and he started thinking about committing suicide. He was diagnosed with adhd a few years later when he was 22 and now he now manages both with a mixture of therapy and medication. He's not perfect and obviously that didn't get rid of his depression but he has always had a safe space to talk about it and to get the help he needs. He advocates a lot for mental health in general but especially where athletes where it tends to get ignored with all the pressure put on them and he brings that into all of his relationships with his teammates trying to create a safe space for them. He is a huge factor in actually getting Em, Mara, and Florian to see therapists and he's who Florian calls after his 5th attempt and takes him to the hospital.

I need y'all to know that Jude popped into my head literally today. He was named like 3 hours ago. So this is all just kind of developing as I yap about him. He's big on team inclusion. Doesn't want anyone to feel left out. At first Ilya really butted heads with Mara and Florian cause they were Raven's and Jude was basically the one to get sick of that and tell them they needed to shut the fuck up and put on their get along t-shirt

He's generally pretty outgoing and he loves a good party. And by party he means hosting his team and having some food and drinks and visiting with every one. Though he does go a little crazy after a win and he will probably not get home till like 6 in the morning and then will sleep for a full 24 hours

He comes off as very loud and flirtatious to most people, most people will think he is flirting even when he isn't and he has accidentally agreed to multiple dates before realizing they were dates and having to awkwardly let people down. He doesn't really date much, not seriously, largely because of how involved he is with the media portion of his job. If he does end up dating (and I don't have anyone set up for him yet) it'd most likely be another exy player who is also super involved with the media and interacting with the press

I like the idea of Constantine and Serenity bounding over something the others (the most important people for them) don't know about. Like a well cared secret.

And i know it can be tricky to do with only the point of vue I have right now BUT ! (Héhé) BUT between the episode 3 and 4 I will make a special editions of short stories that happened meanwhile episode 1 and 2 and some of the past of characters who are not main like (Azrael, Abaddon (my OC), the Vees, the pets, Constantine, Serenity and Eve/Roo)  it will help open new horizons ! Because its a collection of short stories it will help me to well prepared the episode 4  and dont rush things ! We love nice developped characters! And some songs some musical perhaps and inspiration from your animatics!

And I seriously think the background of the drows is very interesting and beautiful.In terms of gameplay, you start with a lot of prejudice as every race hates them rather than other races, But on the other hand, there is no need to fight in some places because the enemy thinks you are one of them.

And yes, old Turk's weapons are perfect for him. I saw similar swords and guns when I visited a museum.They were full of jewels, inch by inch. I'm not exactly sure, but I think they were gifts for the sultan or things he had made for himself. Apart from them, I saw a really huge sword. I would like to see the soldier who could lift it. It looked like the sword that in Berserk that used by Guts.

ok, to describe his personality just imagine nick wilde but not a cop and also with mommy issues!!

i've mentioned he has this magic van right? i'll talk about it here, that's lore. he found the van in the junkyard (and had to fight off the beagle boys to get it probably so, he's got some enemies there) and it had a bunch of little trinkets in it that he sells. the van has hammerspace qualities and can just regenerate the shelves. the trinkets are mostly harmless, he doesn't sell ppl murder weapons or anything.

the van provided the perfect life for a lonely man!

idk how he meets louie but they're escaping the beagle boys and by the end of it, the magic engine of his van is stolen so it's just a normal van :(( but he's made a friend!! i think della would be skeptical of the trench coat wearing van man being her son's friend (valid) but once she gets to know him, they'd become friends. he'd get on well with the main cast.

now about the ship. i'll admit i just went with it cuz the ship name - gyatt - was funny but it's actually rlly fun!! now that i've put thought into it. i wrote more on it here but basically it's a guy with a fake, charming person x someone who will not stand for bullshit and that's rlly fun i think. matt's gets into some crazy scenarios and gyro is the kind of getting in crazy scenarios so they could just be really chaotic together in that sense too i think? like an eccentric couple that's a mad scientist and a sly, van man? that's my cup of tea honestly

She is nameless but also unfinished so I mean it doesn’t matter right now

She is an orca, beluga, humpback whale, whale shark, jellyfish and cyerce elgans (it’s a type of sea slug or nudibranch whatever you prefer to call it)

She’s bioluminescent I’ll draw that somehow

She’s about 8 foot something so massive but still smaller than Sebastian who I will also draw at some point

I haven’t got her lore fully figured out but she’s supposed to be like the perfect siren or something along those lines. Her voice can reach a bunch of different frequencies that a human’s obviously can’t thanks to the various whale DNA and it can mess with things like radio equipment or stuff that uses radio waves to operate. Urbanshades plan was to broadcast her voice in and around the land vet zone probably using the trenchbleeders when they were still active to deter submarines that tried to enter the land vet zone. Therefore no one would know about the Hadal Blacksite and Urbanshade could keep being illegal crazy scientists without anyone finding out. Win-win except for the experiments

In the present game, she kind of swims about outside the windows and occasionally you can find her in rooms with the side rooms like the ones with the couches. The door will usually be broken and you’ll have to crouch to get in. She’ll be sat in those and she’ll say hi. She’ll then give you data/research because "theres a shopkeeper by the name of Sebastian somewhere around Hadal Blackside and he takes this data instead of money. I dont really need it though so you can have them instead incase you find him." The amount will be somewhere between 50-250 research. The more you have the less she’ll give and the less you have the more she’ll give. I think that makes it fair. Maybe. She doesn’t spawn every run and can only spawn in rooms before you reach Sebastian’s shop.

She’s friendly and flashing her with the beacon doesn’t affect her as much as it does Sebastian but she’ll ask you not to do it. If you carry on she’ll take it off you and put it on a shelf that’s too high for the player to reach with a voice line saying "you lost your beacon privileges" or "I’m taking this"

Ambience wise you can hear her singing or you’ll hear the trenchbleeders broadcast her voice which I explained earlier. If heard it sounds like a pod of whales singing. Sometimes it’s close,sometimes it’s distant. All the Trenchbleeders have a chance of broadcasting it durning the airlock section where you have to swim under one but Trenchbleeder Lucy won’t make any during the final searchlights encounter, it would stay the same.

She does have a file. It would either found in Sebastian’s shop or lying around somewhere like with the file on the diVine. If it is in Sebastian’s shop it’ll be in a corner. You can pick it up and after doing so he’ll take it off you with the voice lines "what file is this? I don’t remember seeing this anywhere…Ahhh! Her. Yeah, how about a bargain? This for…..hmm….lets say…500? How does that sound? Do we have a deal?" If you picked yes he’ll do the same thing if you buy his file, you can read it in the menu after you die. If no he’ll say "hmph. Your loss." He’ll then put it on the table next to him and then you can go back to buying his wares or whatever. I feel like because it’s another file he’ll only sell it because it’s more research for him. It’s not 1,000 like his however because his file is obviously about him and his personal stuff…you know what i mean. Maybe.

Her and Sebastian know each other. She pops into his shop occasionally but never in game. He doesn’t say anything about her but she probably has a voice line or two about him. They get along well. p.AI.nter might have a voice line about a "big spotty lady".

Disability(s): Agent Phoenix is missing their right leg from a horrible car crash that claimed the lives of their parents at 14, forcing them to live on the streets for two years until they eventually got scouted by the agency. Miraculously, even though they've been in far worse danger and experienced far worse pain, they have not sustained any other lasting injuries.

Personality: Imagine if the Norse god Loki and a can of Monster Energy drink had a child who likes to commit arson as a hobby.

Random facts: Phoenix can read, write, and speak fluent English, Spanish, and Japanese because their parents moved around all the time and barely stayed in one place for more than a month. They're also pretty good at Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, and Galic, but have absolutely no understanding of Italian.

They can do some basic martial arts, but they mainly excel at accidental stealth and all-out brawl style fights, for they are very fast and good at analyzing how exactly to take an enemy out.

They are diagnosed with autism and auditory schizophrenia, although they believe that they may also have ADHD because of how much stimulation they need to get their job done.

“Captain.” You smirk, walking by the Foxtrot group’s table at 79s. “Boys.”

Gregor nods, looking down at his drink before bringing it to those perfect lips you’d been imagining tasting for the last several months now. The entire Foxtrot group, Gregor, Dyer, Lore, Alfie, and Noff all watch you go by, smirking at their captain, knowing you’d practically been undressing him with your eyes.

Gregor wasn’t necessarily shy, but when it came to you, he wasn’t sure how to bring up how badly he wanted you. You’d been the Foxtrot’s personal medic for the last six months and in that time, you and Gregor had skirted around each other and your feelings for one another. 

“Oh, brother…That was painful to watch.” Dyer chuckles to Gregor.

“Shut up.” Gregor groans, wiping his hand down his face.

“She’s still watching you.” Noff smirks at his captain. “I think she’s probably got you down to just your socks with the way she’s looking at you.”

Gregor peeks up at you and sure enough, you’re sitting on a stool at the bar, talking to your friend but not taking your eyes off of him. The way you’re looking at him is enough to get him hot all the way down to his toes. 

“If it was anyone else you’d already have them bent over-” Lore starts.

“Yeah, well… it’s not just anyone else.” Gregor shakes his head. “It’s her.” 

“Go get her, vod.” Dyer pats him on the back and scoots him out of the booth. 

Gregor takes one of Lore’s shots, downs it for the nerves, and gets up, walking toward you. Your friend takes notice and turns around to the bar, giving you “privacy” with the captain.

“Gregor.” You smile.

The way you say his name has him warm in the ears and he’s surprised it has that effect on him. You normally call him “Cap” or “Captain”. To hear his own name leave your lips, makes him feel lucky… and a bit turned on. Kriff… 

He murmurs your name, ordering you another drink as he leans against the bar in between the two barstools. You can’t help but notice how good he looks out of his clone armor, which you didn’t get to see often.

“I uh… couldn’t help but notice your… glance over there.” He nods back toward the booth he’d just come from.

You chuckle, taking a sip of your drink. “Is that so?”

“Please tell me I’m not crazy… that you were looking at me… like that.” He glances at your lips.

You grin and his heart skips a beat. “Like what?”

You’d been eyeing him since the moment you met, constantly unable to take your eyes off of him. Lore and Alfie liked to tease you about it. 

“Like you want me?” He tries to say bravely.

“That’s one way to put it.” You place your hand over his arm resting on the bar.

Gregor lets out a slight sigh of relief and starts to grin, clearly more at ease now.

“Does it make you nervous when I stare, Captain?” You smirk, leaning in close to the captain until your lips threaten to touch. 

Gregor’s breath hitches as he nods and you feel it tease your lips. You glance over at the booth he just came from and the entire Foxtrot group had their eyes on the two of you, making you chuckle.

“What?” Gregor follows your gaze and notices his brothers. “Oh for kriff’s sake…” 

Gregor grabs your hand and drags you through the crowded bar full of mingling people and clones trying to get laid. Gregor wasn’t trying to get laid per se but he definitely needed his mouth on yours right now. 

He leads you back to the freshers and pulls you inside, locking the door behind him. You lean against the sink and smile at him. He looks nervous again.

“Come here.” You beckon him over to you and he comes to you.

“I’ve never been so nervous around someone before.” He admits, softly. 

“I know for a fact that you have game, Gregor.” You roll your eyes. “I’ve heard the stories from the guys.”

He groans. “First of all, the guys don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. Second… it’s different with you.”

You slide your hands up his chest and he places his hands over yours, resting his forehead against yours. 

“How is it different with me?” You smile as he squeezes your hands before bringing them to his lips. 

Gregor pulls away to look you in the eyes. “When we’re in the field… I can’t take my eyes off of you. It scares the hell out of me… the possibility of losing you.” 

You didn’t know Gregor felt this way about you. Both of you stare into the other’s eyes until you can’t handle the tension anymore, crashing your mouths together. It’s desperate and needy and clearly months of tension have been leading to it. 

As if Gregor can’t help himself, he reaches down and cups your ass to pick you up and sit you on the sink, his lips never leaving yours. 

“Maker, you’re perfect.” He whispers when you move your lips to his neck, causing him to practically melt under your touch. 

You chuckle softly and move your lips back to his own. When you take his hand, guiding it up your dress into your warmth, he groans, pulling his mouth away from yours to rest his forehead against yours.

“Osik.” He mumbles.

“Do you feel what you do to me?” You ask, softly.

“I do. And I’m about to do something about it.” He promises you, dropping to his knees and looking up at you. “If that’s alright with you.”

“More than.” You grin down at him as you start to pull your dress up for him. 

He kisses the inside of your thigh and winks up at you before diving into your eager warmth. Somehow, you know that this is just the beginning of a perfect night.

My thoughts on Rings of Power Episodes 4 and 5 before I watch Episode 6

Episode 4

Overall episode 4 is definitely a filler episode or b storyline episode and I’m fine with that. Sometimes, as a writer, you accept that that one chapter isn’t as strong as the rest. That being said I wonder if the scenes that make up this episode might have felt better pacing wise if worked into other episodes instead of cramming the filler all in one episode?

That being said, I love the developing relationship between Isildur and Arondir. I know Arondir has to die sometime between now and the end of the series because otherwise Isildur would have destroyed the one ring.

I also love Isildur’s developing arc where he seems to become a spokesperson for the southlanders to Numenor whenever he returns. I imagine both Elendil and Miriel and the rest of Numenor want nothing more to do with the southlands and I can see Isildur campaigning their cause, similar to how Boromir campaigns Gondor’s cause to Aragorn: “yes there is frailty in men but there is also strength and courage.”

Estrid as a character herself is meh, but what she represents is really interesting in context of the bigger story. You can’t expect everyone to be suicidally brave all the time. People want to survive. To paraphrase another franchise, “Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn't mean they're lost forever.”

Oooh Isildur you’re such a disaster. Only you would stumble upon the bog of eternal stench

Rory Kinnear! As someone who is not a huge Tom Bombadil fan (don’t kick me out of the fandom), I was more excited that Rory Kinnear was in this show than the character he was playing. That being said, I liked his portrayal of Tom especially the mind games “Is anyone else with here with you?” “You’re here, right? At least I think you are.”

Also, I didn’t mention this last time, but the whole “no one can give you a name, it finds you” bit is so trans coded.

Also, Gandalf you have like ten million names, so don’t start XD

And I would die for that lamb, Iawain I think their name is.

Stoors! Future Hobbiton!

HOLY SHIT ENTWIVES!!!! The Ents have always been my favorite part of the Lord of the Rings universe and to see an Entwife! I want to cry!

I would die for Winterbloom. She can do and has done no wrong. I support her murderous rampage against all tree enemies

That scene with Arondir and Winterbloom: forgiveness takes an age. It had me near tears. And “do you think they know peace?” It was so beautiful and gentle and so Tolkienesque. It was absolutely perfect.

I’m really curious how Theo’s storyline is going to develop. I can see him becoming one of Isildur’s trusted knights. Season 1 I was convinced he’d end up as a nazgul, but this season I’m not so sure.

The bickering between Galadriel and Elrond was fun, but also put aside your pride and be friends again! You need each other!

Poor Elrond feeling responsible for Brimby’ fate ☹

 The barrow wrights were fun. It was cute that this was basically everything Peter Jackson cut out of the first half of Fellowship minus Glorfindel.

Episode 5:

Dwarves!

Argh, Durin III you drive me crazy. I want to like you but also you are a stubborn ass

Love the whispers that occur when Durin III takes one of the rings.

Also love that the dwarven ring is like crack for Durin III. Let me make a huge hole in the foundational way, let me introduce a new tax system, alienate all my allies by demanding half of their wealth in exchange for these awesome rings, and forgive my son while discounting his wife’s opinions all in one day

Also love the sheer terror in Durin IV and Narvi’s faces as Durin III almost brings down a foundational wall XD

And those dwarf miners are so me. Get to go home early? Don’t have to tell me twice

And that’s going to come back and bit them in the ass right? You can’t just weaken a foundational wall and expect nothing bad to happen, right? (I know nothing of construction, but I feel like that’s a bad idea)

That Khazad……DUM was pretty awesome

I love this idea of the resonating being a gift from Aule, a skill that has been passed down generations and is this time honored traditional that belongs to the dwarves and then these rings come in and try to replicate that power but whereas resonating is having a conversation with the mountain, the ring just pierces through the mountain and sees what the wear wants to see. It’s an interesting commentary on how outsider will try to appropriate indigenous skills without truly understanding its purpose or how it works or how it helps maintain balance within the ecosystem

Also can I say one more time for those who missed it DISA IS MY QUEEN AND GODDESS. I WILL DIE FOR HER

Also I love that Celebrimbor is so fond and protective of his dwarf friends. “this is a night for dwarves” and then later when Sauron tries to cast doubt on Durin III’s character, Brimby says such a strong NO! So different from the relationship between dwarves and Elves in the third age, when an Elf would probably be more likely ot distrust Durin III instead of the rings themselves.

Celebrimbor may be a dwarf man but he does NOT like men (the race, not the gender haha)

Also love how queer the relationship between Celebrimbor and Annatar is. As much as I’d love to see an official queer couple in LOTR world, I also love how often Patrick and Payne queer-code things. They seem really open to the idea of queerness in Tolkien, so maybe we’ll see a queer couple some day?

Ok so i was going to mention this in the ao3 comments but since youre active on tumblr i thought why not just come here!

So ive been re-reading rf again (for the 7th time... sorry) and im not sure if ive already mentioned this or if somebody else did but ive been thinking about kaeyas nickname for reader-dove, and the symbolism behind that because like- DOVE the animal representative of peace and love and FREEDOM, being placed on reader means so much. The story literally deals with the tension between inazuma and mond, reader being from inazuma and having such a great sincere love and sense of protection for mondstat is such a good character out of all to be named dove, especially from kaeya's perspective, he sees her as a symbol of genuineness compared to the other soldiers, someone who has risked their life for freedom when leaving inazuma, for peace when sacrificing themselves for ewald, and love for confessing to kaeya knowing she could have gotten in so much trouble. Reader is unapologetically so caring and delicate with everyone, a blanket of security that kaeya indulges in and lets his walls fall down around, his dove and flash of light in the grittiness of war. Im so sorry i could talk abt them for days😭😭 i love kaeya and reader and cant wait for their comeback, i hope you are doing well and thank you for such a well done fic, i know its not complete but ive read it so many times and genuinely it is better put together than about half of the books on my bookshelf😭 take care!

and ohmygod you made me fall in love with reader all over again. you're right, she's so sweet and genuine, which is what kaeya's character is attracted to the most, especially in the beginning of their relationship.

while writing them, i had to find a common ground for the two to connect. Kaeya seems like the type of character that needs deep and genuine connection for him to...obsess over someone enough that he will do batshit crazy stuff for them. reader's unapologetic perspective in freedom and chasing after what you want are quite contrasting to what we know of Kaeya's lore. he's used to hiding behind deception, despite the fact that he's very much driven by love. he suffered so much ever since his childhood, and reader's outlook in life is like a fresh air to him. but it's sort of unfamiliar to him that it feels scary. if you squint enough, he's not exactly the nicest to reader's feelings either. he doesn't know what to do with her lol he leads her on a lot then squash her feelings last minute

as for his nickname, dove, i didn't originally mean for it to stick. (i was in a Hawks (MHA) high and fanon Hawks uses "dove" a lot so i kind of wanted to implement it.) i did a research and found it to be perfect and now Raging Fires!Kaeya hasn't let go of this nickname since then. since Rin Minamoto isnt really reader's actual name, Kaeya had to use a more personal name for her, and that happened to be an endearment. i'm glad everyone is positively reacting to it too lol

The sims 3 lore is just as wacko as the sims 2 istg my fav lore has to be the dead clone wives lemme explain. So in twinbrook there's s sim name Juan Darer (he's quite interesting to look at too) in the junkyard he owns is the grave of Lacy Darer. Now Juan and Lacy have no relationship but she could be his ex wife as deceased spouses aren't shown on the family tree in the sims 3. Lacy died in a fire but what's the crazy part Juan's best friend Harwood Clay is has a possible wife named Macy Clay who also died in a fire. Macy and Lacy's names aren't just a coincidence. Macy and Lacy are almost completely identical. Many think they're twins but twins don't have the same exact same personalities. The darker theory is that Juan being the eccentric creator created clone wives for him and his best friend and Lacy and Macy somehow perished possible in the cloning process which is also the reason Juan's house caught on fire and he lives in a barn.

Sorry for taking forever to respond to this! This month has been wildly busy in the worst way!! I hate summer! Everyone in my house has been sick at some point! UGH!

Anyway, I finally had a chance to sit down and thoroughly look into both of these families. I'm going to start with the Doe family because, honestly, I don't have a whole lot to add about the Darers and I'm eager to jump into the Does (my thoughts on the Darers will be at the end though!).

I had to look up Midnight Hollow to start, and EEEEEEP I love this world's whole vibe. If I play the Sims 3 THIS will be the world I start in!!! Favorite world I've learned about in TS3 so far. I lowkey want to live here irl.

But imagine my shock when I found out that they were putting whole ass worlds on The Sims 3 store. That's absolutely insane lmao!! They would of had my wallet with this one though, not gonna lie. The vibes are top-tier.

Now I looked up the Doe family just like you said and I need you to know that they are the kind of unsolved lore I live for. This family alone makes me want to pirate buy TS3 today.

The Wiki's description wasn't necessarily weird, but the household description left me with many questions.

Jane is the perfect housewife, from her neat hairstyle to her fashionable yet conservative dress. She's neat, nurturing, loves her kids, and can make a mean pot roast! Meanwhile, John is rising in the ranks at his corporate job. He feels successful in life and supported by his family. He works hard but comes home in enough time to teach his kids a lesson or two about life and talk to his wife about her day. Nothing mysterious seems to be happening here, but didn't their house used to have a basement?

That last line. Yeah. WTF? That made the hairs on my arm stand up, especially considering that the world they come with is supposed to mimic a classic-horror vibe. So Immediately I'm getting serial killer vibes, I'm getting psychological thriller, I'm getting family that invites you over for dinner only for you to realize that you are dinner.

Just from the description alone, I'm thinking that the parents are people with a wicked past - coconspirators in crime (whether Jane is a willing or unwilling participant is debatable but intriguing) that may involve killing and disposing, from the sounds of the "former-basement" and the fact that no one really knows why they've suddenly come to a new town without any explanation of their past. Additionally, the names feel like a reference to true crime and murder to me - the last name Doe, with first names Jane and John specifically, are typically names given to unidentifiable victims who, more than not, are victims of violence and brutalization which leaves them unidentifiable. Or, at times, they're simply unidentifiable based on the fact that they don't have family or friends that could claim them, thus making them the perfect targets if you've got bad intentions. The parents seem shady, but beyond that their names reaffirm that they aren't the perfect, squeaky-clean, nuclear family they pretend to be. I mean, you could even speculate that Jane and John are not even their real names. Obviously the sims team are big fans or campy, on-the-nose names (Bob Pancakes, the Goth family, the Calientes, Marcus Flex), but I've always liked to think that sim names can serve more than one purpose.

I jumped over to The Doe family community blog post and the interview there further confirmed a lot of my suspicions, and that whatever they're hiding might be sealed off in what used to be the family basement (the dev who made this family makes sure to draw attention to this enough that it's clearly significant). It's no coincidence that the basement suddenly "disappeared" (or perhaps just became inaccessible) as soon as the family moved in. Some notable things from this interaction:

The classic, old-fashioned misogyny from John. "The light of my life keeps my home perfect and welcoming." It's subtle, but says a lot about this family's old-fashioned dynamic. I hate the condescending, possessive energy between these two. I literally felt uncomfortable during this entire interview (I'd argue that is intentional).

The recurring and growingly tense persistence for the interviewer/producer to drink more tea. BIG red flag on this because my first thought is "Why?" I can understand being hospitable, but it seems like the interviewer has already been taken care of, so why the push? Jane is literally described as frantic, dodging the interviewer's questions entirely and hyper-focusing on the tea as if this is her role to play in what could be an unfortunate turn of events. On the other hand, John seems to be cheerily dismissive. I'm seeing skilled, practiced manipulation in the form of feigned charisma and charm - he doesn't ignore the questions but rather skillfully pivots and tries to keep things light and comfortable. His energy is notably different than the rest of the family, which makes him seem like the primary, skilled aggressor. He is keeping shit under control just enough to not raise suspicion, in my opinion.

But, most interesting to me, is their children's reactions to what is going on. The bio tells us so little about them, but their actions say so much. James, being a toddler and the youngest, obviously is going to be relatively clueless. But Jenn, the daughter, Sits quietly and stares ahead with an eerie blank expression. This feels like a traumatized, almost dissociative response. She seems removed in an anticipatory sense, on-brand for how a child might respond to signs of danger. I'd go as far to say that she is exhibiting one of the 5 fight and flight trauma responses; mainly the "freeze" response. The oldest son Joseph, on the other hand, is outwardly angry. He even leaves the room and slams the door as a response to the conversation, perhaps simply triggered by the mention of moving to Midnight Hollow, but I would venture to guess that he's also frustrated with the events taking place beyond that. After all, I would think that if there is anyone aware of the parent's possible nefarious nature and wrongdoings, it would be him. That being said, he's a teenager... but still a child, nonetheless. He unfortunately has little to no control, and it's clear that he's exhibiting a flight response, showing his own disdain as much as he can (a touch of fight in that door slam) while taking an opportunity to flee the scene. In the picture, their eldest son and daughter seem to be looking at them with... complex expressions. They're certainly not happy.

The whole interview ends because the wife is "not feeling well," but that brings me back to my point about John being a skilled manipulator and the main aggressor running the web that his family is caught in: he would be able to cite when things are getting out of control. A predator knows when to strike and when to back off, and I think this is John's way of regaining control before too much is brought to light. Many people have been spared, unknowingly, from the clutches of a serial killer because they got lucky and the killer decided it wasn't the right place/right time - that's the vibe I'm getting, idk.

The energy around this family reminds me of an Ari Aster or a Jodan Peele psychological horror feel - everything is fine on the surface until it's not, and that tensity and complexity is disturbing and uncomfortable for the outsider (the audience) looking in, but it's usually just as disturbing for our growingly-aware protagonists (who, based on actions alone, I would argue could possibly be the eldest son and perhaps even the daughter, in this case). "The Stepford Wives" by Ira Levin has also been cited possible inspiration at least for Jane's motivations/role in the story. If you don't know about this story, I recommend checking it out.

As I researched, I was actually surprised with the amount of people who did not jump to the murderer route right off the bat. Some other theories include the family being hypnotized and even speculation that they might be robots (likely a take resulting from Levin's work).

Personally, I am more inclined to think that the parents are people with a wicked past, but it was interesting to read alternative takes. The robot and hypnotism theories are intriguing to me, but they neglect to explain the mysterious disappearance of the basement or the children's behaviors. Furthermore, the "brainwashed" and "repetitive" nature Jane has could just as much be signs of trauma/being in an unsafe environment/being forced to act against her will just as much as they could be literal signs of being robotic or hypnotized, so I don't think those things are necessary. Trauma, fear, and feeling trapped are enough to make a person act outside the realm of "normal."

Hell, I think I've only covered the surface here, but I've talked for so long lol. It seems their story might always just be a mystery left for speculation, sadly.

As for the Darers: from what I'm seeing, the theory that the wives were clones (or at the very least identical twins) makes sense to me. I put pictures of them below, and just from their CAS headshots you can definitely see that the girls are identical - there's gotta be some relation there

Personally, I lean toward clones due to the traits being the same. Twins in the sims franchise have always had their own unique interests and traits, so these girls being near carbon-copies doesn't make sense if they're only sisters. Plus, the franchise loves clones (looking at you, two versions of Bella Goth in the Sims 2). For the era of franchise that TS3 was in, I feel like the team was still making the game lean toward whimsy and outlandish as opposed to realism.

Regardless of the relation these two girls share though, the fire death is suspicious and maybe the only thing that keeps this from feeling like an open and shut mystery. It also acts as another good reason to lean toward clones as opposed to sisters unless the fire was caused accidentally by Lacy herself. I think the cloning housefire theory is compelling, due to the girls not actually having a relationship with either of these guys explicitly on the family tree. I guess in that case they were actually their potential wives more than actual wives, which would explain why there's no marriage memory as well.

In some ways it's endearing that Juan would do all that, not just for himself but for his buddy as well, especially if it caused his house to burn down and ultimately push him out into a barn. In the end though, I think the whole cloning situation leans more toward weird when you consider the implications. If you have to invent a wife, you probably should just stay single my dude.

Last and unrelated sidenote: Harwood Clay's hair was an unexpected, horrifying surprise lmao.

Just from what you've told me, TS3 Twinbrook world had a lot of interesting characters. I had no idea that TS3 lore was even close in wackiness to TS2 and TS1, but my takeaway here is that we all should be more pissed off that TS4 premades are so dull.
