Book 4 is rough but here's something in it that made me happy

It was just a small, off-hand comment but this is the first piece of media I've ever seen where a boy child being raised as a girl isn't used as a horror cliche. It's always "kid forced into dresses by psycho mother ends up a violent gender freak murderer" and never "kid grew up loving dresses and ends up a kind, well adjusted person who enjoys femininity".

And Shi Qingxuan is just that. He is generous, he's friendly, and has an EQ higher than probably anyone in this series. When he shifts for a mission or for fun it isn't drag like when Ling Wen does. He just IS a woman then. Because he enjoys being one. His upbringing not only didn't damage him, it prepared him to be a better god because womanhood is in the most literal sense of the word empowering for him. And I think that's lovely.
