mike having a small crush on el in s1 that just went too far is my favorite fruity mike hc.

like, in the beginning, he had a tiny crush on her because she's pretty and cool and powerful and so a small crush developed. but then she (allegedly) reciprocated these feelings and suddenly this went from a tiny crush to an actual relationship.

and mike gets will back, and no matter his crush on el, he loves will. but he's in a 'proper hetero relationship' so we get repress repress repress and comphet comphet comphet.

mike does the relationship things. he tried to appear cool so el finds him attractive by giving up dnd. he told her he loved her. he did all the proper relationship things. this is what 'proper' relationship things are, so this is what i'm going to do.

and in the process he's losing will, his best friend, the person who he's always been the most attached to. he's losing will who was the best thing that happened to him.

but hey! that's what relationships are, right? they matter most, so mike is doing the normal thing.

el tells him she (allegedly) loves him too, and it makes him uncomfy, but he pushes it away. why didn't he like it when she kissed him? why did he like it so much more when wills said he wont join another party?

doesn't matter. they've moved away. and mike pushes it down more.

he's going to visit them in california. will apparently has a crush on some girl, which he's very normal and not awkward about.

before he leaves the plane, he puts his sunglasses on. there's no specific reason he doesnt want her to see his eyes when they kiss, just like there's no reason he puts the flowers in between them which makes them separate faster. that's just a side effect. he goes to hug will, but it feels too weird, even though he can hug lucas and dustin without problems. there's no reason for that, don't think about it.

will has a painting. maybe the painting wasn't for a girl, but instead a gift for mike, will's best friend! or apparently not.

oh, angela? angela is probably whoever the painting goes to. not that mike cares or anything.

he's not avoiding will for a specific reason, it just feels too weird.

he cant tell el he loves her, but that's not for a specific reason either.

idk maybe it’s just because i’m aro but i truly could not give a shit if ivantill was requited or not. like i will ALWAYS hold firm in my belief that they were CLOSE, till always saw ivan as a friend, but like. i don’t know if it was romantic for him and i don’t really care.

thinking about these interactions...... from v3 chapter one before the first trial:

kaede isn't cruel but she doesn't do disingenuous compliments or mince her words when someone or their hobbies don't interest her (and when getting to know everyone for the first time has some difficulty being engaged in stuff that's not related to music) and kiibo is so defensive with literally everyone, you get to see it a lot in his free time events with shuichi, like he's sort of uptight with him until they get to know each other better

but he and kaede just bypass all that right away it's so funny why are they best friends!!!! in the FTEs kiibo doesn't even get mad at her when she asks his opinion on roombas or any of the other silly questions you can choose. she's not like, way nicer to him than with everyone else but they have fun hanging out.. and here he's like "no i know you're not treating me different you're fine don't worry"

and she's the only person in this entire game who would tell him he sounded cool asking an investigation question. plus she is literally going through it at this part ^ she thinks she just killed a friend and failed to end the game. if she says something like this she means it 100%
