Steve Harrington doesn’t know too much about what exactly a perfect Christmas looks like. He has his parents to thank for that.
What he does know is that this year has to be just that: perfect. Because this year he has you.
Though you went to high school together, you and Steve properly met in the summer. Right at the beginning of it, where the evenings still have a chill of wind but the sun cuts through it with welcomed warmth. Robin convinced him to take her to the flower shop just outside of town, and you’d been behind the counter to greet them.
Robin recognized you, and she chatted your ear off while you helped her pick a bouquet with the sweetest smile Steve had ever seen and he felt like an absolute moron for never having noticed you before at school. But he noticed you then.
He’d forced Robin to wait for him in the car while he stayed back, bought you your own bouquet of flowers from the store as if you weren’t the one who’d made them, and asked you on a date. Steve fumbled the whole way through, pricking himself with a rose thorn and cussing mid-sentence, but you still said yes.
You’ve been together ever since, and Steve feels incredibly lucky for it. Lucky for how kind you are, how well you fit in with his friends, how much the kids (Max, especially, though he won’t call her out on it) like you. Lucky for being allowed to grab your hand, to kiss you whenever he wants.
And, on the nights you stay over that grow more frequent with each month, lucky to have you fill the space in the Harrington home that usually feels so cold and empty.
So, maybe the holidays make him extra sentimental, maybe he cares a little too much about making sure it’s the best damn Christmas you could have. Maybe, for once, he’s actually looking forward to it all.
Robin startles him into the present — leaning on the counter at Family Video — with a stiff poke to the cheek. “Dude, I can literally tell you’re thinking about her by the look on your face. It’s kinda gross.”
He scoffs at her, even though he probably was making a face. “Sounds like jealousy to me, Buckley.”
“Shut up, if it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t even know each other! I deserve compensation.”
Steve hangs his head dramatically. Robin is never letting that go. Ever.
“My friendship isn’t enough for you?” Steve says, placing a hand over his heart, “You wound me.”
“You annoy me,” she says, flicking his arm.
“Ow- whatever. You’ll be free of me in like five minutes.”
Steve checks his watch just to be sure. Robin’s closing by herself today, and while Steve would normally just stay and bother her anyways, he’s got plans that involve you and takeout and napping together on his couch.
As if the thought conjures it, you walk through the door, the bell jingling cheerily above your head, Steve’s car keys dangling from your fingertips. (Yes, he lets you drive the BMW.)
“Thank God,” Robin says when she sees it’s you. “Please get rid of him, he’s getting on my nerves.”
You smile and walk towards Steve, who immediately tosses an arm over your shoulders and pulls you in close, stamping a kiss to the side of your head.
You turn your head to the side and look at him, “What did you do?”
Steve gasps, “Me? Honey, you’re supposed to be on my side.”
You send him a wink, and Steve grins. He fucking loves having you with him, being able to speak without speaking. Your hand grabbing his and squeezing says I missed you, his squeezing back says me too.
“Okay, please remove your public displays of affection from the store and leave me alone with the overplayed Christmas song radio station, thank you.” Robin announces.
“Don’t miss me too much, Robs. I know it’ll be tough,” Steve says, guiding you forward.
“Good to see you, Robin!” you wave on your way out.
“You too!” And just before the door closes behind you, Robin’s voice rings out; “You’re my favourite half of the relationship!”
Your smile widens. Steve is the best thing that’s happened to you, and his friends becoming yours is one of the greatest bonuses you could ask for. It’s like his life made room for you as simply as the ocean’s tide pulls in and out. Gentle and certain.
He catches the keys when you toss them to him, and Steve’s mood just seems to lift and lift on the drive back to his place with you in the passenger seat, Christmas lights lining the streets glowing on your cheeks.
Yeah, he thinks, this Christmas is going to be perfect.

1.
That weekend Steve calls you and tells you to be ready by noon and to dress warmly. He doesn’t tell you much else besides his usual ‘see you soon, honey’ or ‘miss you’ murmured sweetly through the phone.
As instructed, you’re dressed in a pair of jeans and one of your favourite knitted sweaters, your brown leather jacket overtop and socked feet stuffed into your Doc Martens. Though you feel plenty warm, Steve will probably fuss over you and hold you close for body heat anyways. And, well, you’d never be opposed to that.
Steve’s BMW rolls into your driveway exactly one minute past twelve, and by the time you walk outside to meet him, he’s already standing on the passenger side of the car waiting to open the door for you.
“Always a gentleman,” you say, kissing him quickly on the cheek.
You slide into the seat that’s become yours for the most part, and Steve ducks down to kiss you properly on the mouth before pulling back, “Mm maybe not always.”
He closes your door and you laugh lightly, your face a little warm even though he’s been your boyfriend for months now. You don’t think you’ll ever be unaffected by Steve Harrington’s charm, ever be used to it being aimed at you.
Of course, you knew of him in school, but knowing the real thing, the kind, caring boy who’d been buried under King Steve back then, is probably the greatest gift you’ve ever had.
Steve drives with one hand just above your knee, his thumb running back and forth over the stitching in your jeans. Still, he doesn’t tell you where he’s taking you, his only hint was to “pay attention to the radio station.”
It’s playing Christmas music. Like that narrows things down a whole bunch.
You chat the entire way. Steve asks you how the flower shop is doing (“Poinsettias are flying off the shelves”), you ask him who he got for the group’s secret Santa this year (“Max. I’m going to need your assistance”). It’s so easy to talk to him, to laugh and joke and not have to worry about what you say or how you come off.
You never knew being with someone could be so easy until Steve.
Eventually, he pulls into the long driveway of a farm. A Christmas tree farm, to be exact, if the wooden arch you drive through is to be trusted.
“What are you planning, Harrington?”
He shrugs, his hand squeezing your knee, “Thought we could pick out a tree together. Put it up at the house. My parents aren’t gonna be around — shocker, I know — I figured we’d do it together. Make it our own.”
Steve pats your leg before letting it go and putting the car in park, his palms dragging over his thighs like he’s suddenly nervous.
“Our first Christmas tree,” you say quietly, almost to yourself, a smile creeping onto your face. He really is sweet. “I love it. Let’s go adopt a tree, Stevie.”
He flashes you a smile before getting out and jogging around the hood to open your door for you. You’ve learned to wait for him to do it since you’ve been together. The last time you tried to open your own door he made you close it again just so he could be the one to open it.
Before, you’d never really cared about that sort of thing, but Steve has single-handedly raised your expectations.
He grabs your hand and leads you towards the classic red and white barn, following the signs painted simply with a tree and an arrow pointing you in that direction.
When you turn the corner and see the selection of trees, however, Steve pauses.
There are maybe seven trees left, none of which are very impressive upon first glance. Their branches are skinny and the pine needles leave a lot of space to see through them. It’s safe to say these aren’t the Christmas trees Steve was hoping to surprise you with.
He was sure there’d be something better left, at least. And he’d been wrong. Minus a point on that perfect Christmas, he supposes.
Still, he walks you to the selection, the farm’s employee greeting the two of you as you walk up; “Hey y’all. Good afternoon!”
“Hey man,” Steve starts, “you wouldn’t happen to have any more trees left, would you?”
“Sorry folks, this is all we’ve got. Most people like to get ‘em early.”
Steve’s hope dwindles, and you can see him deflate a little bit.
You, however, don’t mind one bit. You tug on his arm to get his attention, and Steve turns to look at you, brown eyes shining like honey in the sunlight. “It’s okay,” you tell him. “Even the little trees need homes, right?”
He shakes his head with a small smile. It’s cute, he thinks, the way you tend to talk about plants as if they have feelings. You do it when you tell him about the flowers you sell, too.
“Right as usual, honey,” he decides. “Pick your favorites.”
So, you wind up with two small Christmas trees rather than one full one, and there’s a small victory in it when you and Steve strap them both to the top of the BMW without too much of a struggle.
Another victory when you sing along to ‘Last Christmas’ and hold out your fist as if there’s a microphone in your grip to get him to join you. Admittedly, it isn’t a very good rendition, but Steve loves it all the same.
You have a way of turning things around for him, even without knowing it.
When you get back to Steve’s, he brings both of the trees inside and sets them up before bringing down the bins of ornaments and lights from the attic. He only shouted once when a spider crawled over his hand.
Having two trees makes it easy to turn decorating into a lighthearted competition. You both claim one as your own and decorate them with string lights and tinsel and ornaments. Steve’s mom would probably have an aneurysm seeing them used so haphazardly.
Though by the end, your tree is definitely prettier, Steve still feels like he’s won something as you lean your back against his chest and his arms cross over your own, keeping you there.
As a kid, he wasn’t even allowed to do the decorating. Mrs. Harrington had to make everything look picture perfect, and Steve’s hands didn’t help with that. Not according to her.
Today couldn’t feel more different from those memories of his childhood.
“Yours is better,” he tells you, chin perched on your shoulder, his voice low in your ear.
Objectively, it probably is better (your prior experience with arranging plants was an advantage), but you don’t actually care about that.
Today felt like a little glimpse into the future you and Steve could have. It’s easy to picture it: your own apartment, buying decorations you both actually like, setting it all up together every year.
“I think they’re both brilliant,” you say.
And while today wasn’t what he was picturing, wasn’t what he’d hoped for with his ideal holiday in mind, Steve finds that he can certainly live with that. Your adorable little clap when you’d finished decorating was enough to cement it.
It’s only one thing. He’s got plenty of chances to be perfect later, he guesses.
Steve dips his head and kisses the top of your shoulder over your sweater.

You stay over at Steve’s that weekend. You’re both off work, and you find yourself spending your days (and nights) off with Steve more and more.
In the morning, you blink your eyes open slowly, naturally. No alarm set, your boy wrapped around you. It’s how you’ll spend every morning someday.
The sunlight sneaks through a crack in the curtains, cutting a line across Steve’s blue bedding. You squint at it, shifting onto your back gently. Steve’s arm remains slung over your waist as you move, his knee against your leg. You roll your head to the side to look at him, a smile creeping over your mouth at the way his cheek is smushed into the pillow, his lips pouting and hair a mess over his forehead.
Mornings have easily become your favorite time to spend with Steve. He’s cuddling you in some way every single time without fail, even when he wakes up. His voice is all low and gravelly from sleep and it feels like an honor to get to be the one to hear it like that. Usually, you spend an hour in bed with him after waking up. Laying together, talking, kissing. Sometimes (often) more.
You’d stay put right now if you didn’t have to pee so bad.
Slipping out of bed without Steve noticing proves a challenge, his arm tightens over you in his sleep, his brows scrunching. You whisper a soft “I’ll be right back.” He mumbles something incoherent, but his arm relaxes and you’re able to sneak away.
On your way back from the bathroom, you pause and take a peek out the window. You gasp happily at what you see: snow. A bright, white layer blanketing the ground sparkling in the sunlight.
You turn back to the bed and let yourself fall to it with a bounce, earning another grumbled protest from Steve, but there’s no way you’re going back to sleep now. You trail a hand up his arm to his shoulder, giving it a small shake, “Stevie, wake up.”
“Hm?” his eyes scrunch before opening. “What happened, honey?”
“It snowed!”
“Yeah?” he huffs a laugh at your excitement, his hand searching for yours in the sheets.
“Yeah, and it’s so pretty. We should go out before it melts.”
“It’s winter, sweetheart. Not gonna melt that fast.”
“Steve.”
“Okay, okay,” his hand leaves yours in favor of wrapping itself around you again, and he uses it to tug you close again. “Just five more minutes.”
His nose is pressed to the top of your head, and he breathes you in, smiling to himself. Mornings are Steve’s favorite, too. Only when they’re spent with you.
Secretly, he’s also happy about the snow. He was hoping mother nature would be on his side so that he could check yet another holiday item off his list with you. Hopefully one that will turn out nicer than the tiny trees you’d ended up with.
It’s definitely more than five minutes by the time you get Steve to get up and out of bed. You attempt to get him outside right away. He stops you with a: “No snow-related activities on an empty stomach!”
So, it’s a rushed breakfast of bagels and coffee provided by Steve, and then you’re gearing up and heading into the back yard.
The cold bites at your cheeks, and the tip of Steve’s nose is pink within minutes, but you love it.
There’s a snowman built together, snow angels made that get ruined when Steve rolls himself on top of you and steals a kiss or five. Naturally, all there is left to do is have a snowball fight.
You start it when you’re still on the ground, a hand sneaking into the snow to grab a handful and pressing it to the back of Steve’s head. He gasps, and you take the opportunity to push him to the side and get up.
“No fair!” he calls. “I was distracted and you went for the hair.”
“Your fault for not wearing a hat, babe,” you laugh.
“Oh, you won’t be laughing for long, honey. You’re in for it.”
And just like that, you’re running around like kids in a schoolyard, hiding behind trees, slugging snowballs at each other and cheering when you manage to not miss.
Steve silently thanks mother nature or the universe or whatever made it snow for the wide smile on your face, your eyes shining with mirth.
At one point, you’re suddenly distracted by something in the trees, and the snowball is out of Steve’s hand before he sees you start to look towards him again.
It hits you square in the face.
A quick “Ow” comes out of your mouth, though it really doesn’t hurt that bad. Your first reaction is just to let it slip, but Steve’s heart sinks to his stomach.
“Shit, honey.” He runs over to you and cups your face in his hands, his mittens soft against your skin as he brushes the snow from your face. “Fuck. I’m so sorry. I wasn’t tryin’ to get you in the face.”
Minus another point, for sure. Perfect Christmas: -2.
“I know, don’t worry,” you tell him, because he clearly is worrying.
“You okay?” he checks. He literally winces when you sniffle, frowns when he sees the way your eyes water. “Honey. I’m sorry.”
“Honestly, Steve, I’m fine,” you reach up and grab his wrists, squeezing them over his jacket. “I’m only crying ‘cause it got my nose. It doesn’t actually hurt.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive,” you assure him. “Didn’t you used to play sports in school? Thought athletes had better aim.”
“I was a swimmer, baby. No projectiles involved.” He smiles softly when you laugh, but he can’t stop himself from asking one more time. “You’re really not hurt?”
“It’s just a bit of snow, Stevie.”
His eyes run over your face anyway before he nods. Then, he dips forwards and lightly kisses your cheek, the other, the tip of your nose, and your mouth.
“Well now I’m certainly all better,” you say against his lips.
Steve pulls back but doesn’t go far. “I think this snowball fight is over.”
“Buzzkill,” you tease.
He bends down and picks up a handful of snow before shoving it in his own face.
“Steve!” you laugh.
“There, now we’re even,” he says, snowflakes clinging to his lashes.
You let him lead you inside after that, his arm draping over your shoulders, yours hugging his middle as you walk across the yard.
Once you’ve both shed your layers of coats and boots and hats and mittens, Steve takes you upstairs and runs you a bath to warm you up. He apologizes another two times when he looks at your face for too long, and you have to kiss him to stop him uttering another ‘sorry.’
Hell, if it’s gonna make him this sweet on you, you’d probably take a snowball to the face any day.
Eventually, when the bathtub is full, a layer of bubbles over the surface, you coax Steve into joining you. He leans against the side with you between his knees, back settling into its home against his chest, his chin resting atop your head.
Steve runs his hands over your shoulders, presses kisses into your hair. All along he’s reminding himself that the next thing will go right. He won’t be throwing anything, at least.
-
3.
The next weekend Steve calls you again. He asks you to be ready in the evening this time, but still keeps things vague other than the fact that you’ll be outside and need thick socks.
You have a pretty good idea of what he has in mind, but he’d called it a ‘redemption date’ over the phone and even though you truly don’t think he has anything to redeem himself for, you don’t want to spoil his plans, so you play along.
He comes to the front door when he picks you up this time, knocking gently as if you hadn’t been waiting for him by the windows.
“Hi, honey,” he drops a quick kiss to your lips, “had to come and approve your outfit. Don’t want you getting cold and stealing my jacket again.”
He’s lying, really. Steve fucking loves draping his own jacket over your shoulders and seeing you pull it tighter around you. When that happens, he braves the cold, but he figures that probably won’t be smart for spending hours outside.
“Aww, but yours is so much warmer than mine,” you pout jokingly.
Steve simply grabs your thickest jacket from a hook by the door and holds it out for you to slip your arms into.
As suspected, he drives you to a skating rink. He chose one a town over from Hawkins, where they have twinkle lights strung above the rink and rainbow Christmas lights lining the boards. Steve smiles when you gasp lightly in delight at the sight of it. The brightness cutting through the already dark night sky.
Steve guides you over to the skate rental booth first, bumping his hip into yours when you attempt to pay for the rentals. “As if. My idea, my wallet.”
“You don’t even let me pay when it’s my idea, either.”
“Well, that’s just chivalry, babe.”
You roll your eyes at him and thank the man behind the booth when he hands you both your skates. As you walk towards the lockers and cubbies set up nearby, you lean up and kiss Steve’s cheek, his light stubble scratching your lips.
“Thank you for this,” you say.
“You don’t need to thank me,” he tells you. “Though I should warn you that I’m not very good at this.”
“What? You, not good at something? Please.”
“No, seriously. I’m like bambi on ice.”
You laugh and shove his shoulder weakly, “Don’t worry. I’m probably even worse.”
Steve grins. So far, so good. This one will be perfect. Well, as perfect as it can be considering his skating skills.
You sit on one of the benches and Steve puts both of your shoes in one of the cubbies. He ties his own skates first before kneeling in front of you to help you with yours. He knows how to tie them, at the very least.
He helps you slip your feet into the skates first, then tightens the laces on one before peering up at you and checking, “Feel okay? Not too tight?”
“It’s good, Steve. I feel like Cinderella.”
“A perfect fit! She must be the one!”
“Dork.”
“That’s prince dork to you.”
Steve finishes up with your skates, squeezing your ankle before setting your foot down and standing back up.
On the ice, neither of you are very graceful. You hold onto the boards most of the time, and Steve stumbles and nearly falls every few strides, but you’re laughing and having fun, so who cares?
So what if you get lapped by multiple people on the rink, including children? So what if you get some side eyes for being too slow or in the way? Neither of you can bring yourselves to be bothered.
Best of all, Steve keeps a hold on your hand the entire time. He literally saves you from falling with his grip on your hand squeezing and pulling you up straight.
However, your hands being clasped also means that, inevitably, when one of you goes down, you both do.
It happens after a decent amount of laps; your toe pick catches on a dip in the ice and it’s all it takes for you to lose your balance. Steve somehow twists himself to catch the brunt of your fall.
He expected that to come with some pain, a couple bruises, maybe. Instead, his wrist twists painfully against the ice as he falls, as if he’d tried to catch himself with it, and he can’t help the hiss of pain that comes out when he lands.
“You okay, honey?” he asks you.
“Of course I am. I landed on you, Stevie. Are you okay?”
He tests his wrist out by flexing it, wiggling his fingers, and he tries to hide it but he winces when he does, a sharp pain shooting up his arm. “M’fine.”
“Bullshit, I saw that wince, Harrington.” You manage to get back up on your feet and hold out a hand for him to grab, “Up, I’m taking you to the ER.”
“No, no. I’m good.”
“Steve.”
“Baby.”
“Come on, you don’t want to make it worse, do you?” you urge him. “Plus, I’ll only keep worrying and bugging you about it until you let me take you to the doctor. Your wrist is already swelling, babe.”
Mostly because he doesn’t like the thought of you worrying about him, Steve agrees.
When both of your skates are off (your doing, this time) and given back to the booth, you reach into Steve’s coat pocket and grab the keys to the BMW. He doesn’t protest, and that alone tells you he must be hurting more than he’s letting on. You even manage to open your own door for once.
Steve’s quiet on the drive to the hospital, his hand resting limply on his leg. His brows are furrowed, his eyes squeezing shut every so often when a burst of pain comes. You do your best to avoid any pot holes or bumps along the way.
Once there, you make him sit in one of the waiting room chairs, “I’ll get the check in forms and everything. Stay put, yeah?”
“Your wish is my command,” he says, trying to joke. His voice wobbles a tiny bit, though.
It’s at least an hour of waiting before someone can see him (and that’s including your many pesterings to the front desk). You don’t mean to be a bother, but you’ve never seen Steve injured in any serious capacity, and it’s messing with your head.
He took the weight of that fall to make sure you wouldn’t get hurt. The way he pays attention to things like that is one of the many reasons you love him.
You love him. You haven’t said the words to each other yet, but you’ve felt them for a long time already. It’s hard not to love Steve Harrington.
Finally, the doctor takes him back, and you follow. After an x-ray and some prodding, he determines that it’s a sprained wrist and that he should keep it wrapped for a few weeks to make sure it heals. They give him a prescription for some mild painkillers, too, for the first couple of days.
You breathe a sigh of relief knowing it isn’t broken, but Steve’s shoulders are still slumped.
He’s in pain, sure, his wrist now wrapped up in a tensor bandage, but really he feels defeated at messing yet another thing up. Third strike.
Steve lets you guide him back to the car and drive back to his place. You’ve decided you’re staying the night to take care of him, and as much as he hates looking weak or feeling useless, he’s glad to have you around.
You dote on him back at home, grabbing an ice pack from the freezer after making sure he’s settled on the couch, throwing a frozen pizza in the oven, bringing him meds and water.
“Honey, it’s just a sprain. Please stop fussing and sit with me.”
His brown eyes shine a little, and you could never say no to him when he looks at you like that.
You sit beside him and he drops his head to your shoulder, your hand coming up to play with the strands at the nape of his neck, scratching his scalp gently. His uninjured hand rests on your thigh and squeezes.
“Best painkiller ever,” he says.
-
4.
Steve has convinced himself that nothing could possibly go wrong this time around.
His plans for today involve staying at home, just you and him, no outside forces to deal with or avoid. So much less potential for failure. That’s what he thinks, at least.
Steve knows nearly every piece of you, so, obviously he knows you like to bake. You’d made him a cake for his birthday, and every so often you bring him other treats from home. Naturally, that meant that there was no way he was leaving out Christmas baking.
He’d considered doing gingerbread houses, and then remembered that the last time he tried that in a competition with the kids, his house was nothing more than a messy pile of gingerbread slabs. One with a bite taken out of it.
So, considering his past failures this holiday season, he’d settled on something that he thinks — hopes — is really hard to mess up: sugar cookies.
His mother’s collection of cookbooks had never been used for more than decoration until now. Steve searched through them until he found a recipe, wrote down the ingredients, and bought them at the grocery store to make sure he had everything.
In school, he never did much studying, but he reread the hell out of that recipe in order to get at least this one thing right.
The tensor bandage is still wrapped around his wrist, which is fucking annoying, really. He has to adjust it every day, and it’s hard to do with a single hand. He much prefers when you do it for him, sealing it with a featherlight kiss.
Worse, the thing still hurts, and you refused to let him drive and put more strain on it than necessary, so you took the bus and walked the rest of the way to his house.
He’s got all of the ingredients and tools laid out on the island when you ring the doorbell. “Hurry up, Harrington, it’s freezing!”
Hurry he does. He lets you in and helps you unwrap yourself from your bundle of a scarf and hat and mittens and jacket. Steve dips in to kiss your cheek, your skin cold against his lips. “Wouldn’t have to freeze if you let me come get you.”
“I don’t want you hurting yourself for no reason, I’m fine,” you grab his uninjured hand and kiss the pads of his fingers, “and I like these hands.”
He smiles at your words, smug, “Yeah, I know you do, honey.”
You shake your head at him, but you’re smiling all the same, “I take it back. Your ego is getting too big.”
“Nooo, it’s just the right size,” he winks.
“Don’t you have plans, Steve?” you ask, changing the subject. “Getting a little off track, aren’t we?”
“Later, then,” he says, taking your hand with his good one and leading you to the kitchen.
You pause at the entryway of the kitchen, scanning over the things on the island, two aprons Steve must’ve dug up from somewhere hanging from the knobs of the cabinets.
“Tada,” he says, “we’re making cookies.”
“This might be my favourite one yet, Stevie.” You walk over and grab one of the aprons, leaving the other (a pink floral number) for Steve. “I’m in charge, though.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way,” he says, taking the other apron without a complaint. “This is your kitchen today, chef.”
“Mm. That has a nice ring to it.”
“Chef honey,” he says, planting a kiss where your neck meets your shoulder, breath warm even through your shirt.
You get started after that. Predictably, you make a mess with flour on the island and mixing bowls strewn about the surface. You get distracted with a bit of a flour war somewhere in there, Steve smudging it onto your cheek, you onto the tip of his nose.
When it’s time to roll out the dough and cut out the cookies, Steve grabs a handful of cookie cutters from one of the drawers, setting them onto the counter with a small clang. They’re all holiday themed. Candy canes and snowmen and Christmas trees.
“Someone’s prepared,” you say, bumping your hip against his.
“I run a serious establishment here, baby.”
“I thought I was in charge.”
Soon enough, after sneaking bites of raw cookie dough and cutting out as many cookies as you could manage, they’re placed into the oven, the timer set.
You end up in the living room, a random channel playing on the TV while the cookies bake. It starts innocently enough, just sitting next to each other, shoulders and thighs pressed together.
Then, Steve’s good hand wanders, starting above your knee and moving up and up until he’s squeezing the top of your thigh, tracing patterns with his thumb. When he speaks a husky, “Come closer?” how could you ever say no?
So, somehow, you’ve ended up straddling Steve’s lap, his injured hand resting loosely on your waist, the other pressed in between your shoulder blades to keep you close. Yours are in his hair, running through the strands, tugging even.
It grows heated fast, and all of a sudden you’re making out like a pair of teenagers, Steve urging you to press further down in his lap, to writhe there while his mouth works yours until it’s all you can think about. All you can feel.
The room feels warmer, Steve’s jeans tighter over his lap, your chest bumping against his, hearts racing. Even just kissing him feels better than anything you’ve ever had in the past.
He kisses you like he’s starved everytime, sometimes a ravenous hunger, like now, or, when he’s gentler, something tender and soft. A sweet tooth.
The cookies are long forgotten. The timer sounds and nobody hears it. You would keep going forever, if you could. But then there’s the smell that hits your nostrils. The smell of something burning.
“Steve?” you say against his mouth.
“Uh-huh?” he breathes.
“Do you smell that?”
He pulls back, and it’s immediately after you say the words that the alarm goes off, piercing through the air, killing the mood, much to your dismay. Even more to Steve’s.
“Fuck,” he groans.
You’re both rushing to the kitchen then. You, fumbling off his lap, him beating you to the kitchen and frantically taking the baking sheet out of the oven and turning the thing off. You grab a towel from the counter and start fanning beneath the alarm to get it to go off, and when the cookies are dealt with, Steve joins the efforts.
Eventually the thing stops beeping, and you both rest your arms. The room still looks a little cloudy, the cookies black at the edges.
Steve doesn’t say anything, only rests his elbows on the island and slumps his head, defeated.
He’s so frustrated with himself. Not for kissing you. No, he could never be mad at that, but at the outcome of his final attempt at a holiday date going south again.
You frown at him, walking over and placing a hand on his back, rubbing gentle circles. “Steve? You okay?”
“I just- I messed it up again.”
“Hey, I’m as much to blame as you are. It takes two to tango, as they say.”
He huffs a weak laugh, picking his head up and twisting to look at you. Your pretty face, eyes nothing but kind. Fuck, he loves you, and he just wanted to show you that. To make Christmas as magical as it's supposed to be.
“I really wanted it to go well, you know?”
You realize then that he’s not only talking about today. That he’s been putting this pressure on himself all month to make plans and something has happened every time. You don’t blame him for that, if anything, it makes your heart ache with adoration.
“Steve, it doesn’t matter to me. Things happen, it’s okay,” you kiss his bicep lightly. “I’d rather things go a bit wrong with you than to have them go right with someone else. You are the best part.”
“I-” love you, he almost says. But he doesn’t want the first time to be like this, in a room that still stinks. “You’re the best part for me too, honey.”
You decide that next time, it’s your turn to do something for him.
-
+1
Steve comes home from work on Christmas Eve, eyes tired and feet hurting despite having worn relatively comfortable shoes today.
He’d tried to get the day off, tried to be able to spend it with you in bed for hours and hours and not getting up until the afternoon. Keith had other plans for him.
He even tried to dramatize his wrist injury. Still, he was forced to go in.
Walking up the driveway, Steve sees the glow of lights inside filtering through the curtains. He’s fairly certain he hadn’t left any on, but he also knows he’s often wrong about these things, so he shrugs it off and goes inside.
There’s noise coming from the living room. Crackling of the fireplace that he barely ever uses, music playing quietly, and then he hears you humming along.
“Honey?”
“Yup, it’s me!”
You know where the spare key is, Steve’s the one who told you the information and encouraged you to use it, but you’ve often been too nervous to do so. Not today, it seems.
While Steve was at work, you’d set up your plan for him.
He follows the sound of your voice without much of a thought, a moth drawn to a flame. When he turns into the living room, he stills.
There are strings of warm white Christmas lights hung about, the fireplace is actually housing a fire, and in front of it is a fort made up of red and green and white blankets and pillows. Some plaid, some with snowflakes, all Christmas themed.
“Did you do all of this?” he asks, walking slowly to where you stand by the fort.
“Figured it was my turn to organize a date, don’t you think?”
“Baby. This is all really sweet, but wha-”
You cut him off, “Uh-uh. Let me explain.” You reach for Steve’s hands, and he meets you in the middle willingly. Suddenly nervous, you shift your weight on your feet. “I thought we could do presents a little early.”
His brows scrunch, “But Christmas is tomorrow.”
“Please?” you ask, squeezing his hands once.
And, really, Steve would never say no to you. Especially not when you’re saying ‘please’ all sweet and delicate like that.
“Okay,” he says. “Yours is in my room. I’ll go grab it. And change; I smell like Family Video.”
“‘Kay, Stevie.”
You kiss his cheek before he goes for good measure.
Steve is confused the entire time, wondering what it could be that you’re up to, but he does as he said he would. You’d been wearing a set of pyjamas (one he loves on you; a soft baby blue pair of shorts with a matching sweater), so he goes for one of his pairs of plaid pants and a plain t shirt before grabbing your messily wrapped gift bag from where he’d hidden it under his bed.
Back in the living room, he finds you now settled on the ground of the fort, which you’d lined with fuzzy blankets and the biggest of the pillows. His gift is sat beside you, a gift box wrapped in a lovely bow. Your skills of wrapping bouquets are transferable, he’s learned.
He joins you, sitting across from you, but close enough that your legs tangle and knees bump.
“You go first,” you tell him.
“Okay,” he scratches the back of his neck, handing you the gift bag. “Let me explain it before you say anything.”
That grabs your attention, but your plans aren’t about his present to you, really, and you know you’ll love it no matter what because Steve knows you better than anyone.
You lift out tissue paper first, uncovering multiple different things inside the bag, also wrapped. It pieces together as you go. A toothbrush, toothpaste, a hairbrush, your entire skincare routine, a couple of pyjama and underwear sets.
“It’s so you don’t have to bring an overnight bag every time you stay over now. I, um, cleared out a couple of drawers in my dresser and the bathroom.”
“Steve,” you look at him, heart squeezing. It’s so thoughtful, so him, and you surge forward you wrap your arms around his neck and breathe into his skin, “I love it. Thank you. It’s perfect.”
Perfect.
“You really think so?”
“Of course I do,” you sit back into your spot. “You know I hate carrying things.”
“I never let you carry anything, honey.”
“Exactly,” you nod. Now, you hold out his gift for him to take, “Your turn.”
You watch Steve’s hands as he tugs the bow undone, then lifts the lid of the box.
Nestled inside are four delicate ornaments. A Christmas tree, a snowman, an ice skate, and a plate of cookies. One for every date he’d planned for you.
Steve frowns at them, not because he doesn’t like them, but because he doesn’t quite understand where you’re going with this.
“I thought it was time we started collecting our own ornaments. For our place, one day,” you tell him.
“They’re lovely, but honey you- you really wanna remember these things?“ he shakes his head, more at himself than you. “I messed ‘em all up.”
“There’s one more thing in there,” you say quietly.
The thing you're nervous about. A thing you’ve never said out loud before.
Steve finds it beneath one of the ornaments, a small piece of paper folded up. When he opens that, his heart stutters in his chest. Written in your handwriting are three words: I love you.
He blinks away from the paper to look at you, though his thumb continues to trace the words absentmindedly. “Honey-”
“I love you, Steve. Okay?” You shift closer, kneeling at his side, your hands coming up to frame his jaw, your fingers kind against his skin. “I don’t care that things didn’t go how you planned. I mean, I would rather you didn’t require an ER visit, but the point is that I don’t need things to be perfect. And I know you’ve been hard on yourself trying to make them so.”
He lets go of the paper and reaches up to grasp your wrists, his thumb finding your racing pulse. His uninjured hand holds on tighter than the other.
“Thank you for trying for me,” you continue, “for caring. But no matter what happens, things are perfect for me. Because I get to do them with you. Got that, Harrington? You’re perfect, and I love you, and-”
He shuts you up with a kiss. It’s a simple but firm press of his lips against yours, but it says enough.
“I fucking love you too, honey,” he says, his forehead against yours, lips only a breath apart. “You saying all of that it means — you mean a lot to me.”
“Yeah, well, I meant it.”
“I know you did,” he nods. Steve pulls back the tiniest bit to be able to see your face fully, his sweet brown eyes locked on yours. “I wanted our first Christmas to be perfect, and I didn’t wanna let you down, but you’re right. They were perfect, because you’re here. And I love you for bein’ here.”
“As long as you’ll have me,” you say. You push his hair off his forehead before letting go of his face and sitting back, “Why don’t you give those ornaments a try?”
“On those trees?” he asks, eyebrows lifted, voice joking.
“Steve.”
”Okay, okay.”
He picks up the skate first. Surprising, considering that one had ended in a physical injury for him, but you say nothing and watch him walk over to your little trees by the window. You join him, sitting on the arm of the couch nearby while he scans over the tree.
“Pick a spot, handsome,” you encourage. “There’s really no wrong answer here.”
He goes to hang the first ornament, hand wavering before setting on a branch.
“Well, maybe not-” Steve tackles you onto the couch before you can finish. You dissolve into giggles as he pokes at your ribs, his head on your chest.
Steve’s done keeping score.
Perfect Christmas. That’s it.

So S4 starts in July (specifically July 15th, Callum's birthday). The end of 5x09 is explicitly 30 days after. Then we know about a month passes in S6, since it was a full moon in 5x09 and it's a full moon again in 6x09 in order to use the Moon Nexus.
I'm assuming S7 is also around a month until the finale (since Callum and Rayla had to travel from Katolis to the Banther Lodge to the Silvergrove, and then spent another two weeks there before the finale). So I'd wager S7 is likely over a month, maybe 1.5 months long? We know the moon phases are at least close to what they should be to each other in 7x05 and 7x06, respectively:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, there's just one week between a full moon and a waning gibbus (the first picture) and we know it's been longer than that, even though we know it doesn't take a month to go from Katolis to the Silvergrove. It could be more in reality that Rayla and Callum reach the Silvergrove after 3 weeks (they're not taking the same detours, but Runaan is slower) and the full moon happens while they're there / TDP's moon phases in general are never 100% consistent.
Then we know more time passes (albeit a week / a few days) until 7x07 and the finale, with 7x07 encompassing a whole day and night.
So yeah, about 1.5 months, maybe 2, max in S7? S5 takes us to mid-August, S6 to mid-September, with S7 taking place from September and into October minimum, possibly into November.
Then we have Miyana, who has a baby bump when she visits Karim, and since it is (presumably) her first pregnancy, you typically only start showing between 4-5 months. She shows up a few weeks into the season (if we're using Rayllum's timeline as the primary tracker), which means we still have roughly a month before the end of the season.
In the S7 epilogue, she has her twins in her arms. They seem to still be quite young (newborn-ish to the first 3-5 months of life) as they're entirely swaddled.
If she was 4 months pregnant in early S7, then this would be about 9 months later, taking us from early October to early June. The Rayllum Banther Lodge scene on the bridge could even later, taking us to fully July.

prison, not a promise- l.norris
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: lando proposes and it doesn't go as planned...
pairing: lando norris x fem! reader
୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ
He genuinely thought you would’ve been the woman he married. He believed that the moment he got down on one knee, you would’ve burst into tears in front of him and said yes.
He’d never expected that.
People (understandably) thought you were fucking crazy. Who would say no to Lando Norris? Who would give up the chance to be rich and famous forever, to have one of the most sought-after men on the planet forever?
Well, those people didn’t know what it meant to be ‘loved’ by Lando Norris. They didn’t see the constant fights and beratings. They wouldn’t know about the fact that you hadn’t felt like yourself for an entire year. They didn’t know about the sleepless nights, sitting there and wondering, hoping that you were enough. They didn’t know that an engagement ring would've been a prison, not a promise.
You both walked into his apartment, silent. You hadn’t said ‘no’, saying ‘yes’ while in public just to keep up appearances,  but Lando knew, the second you two got in the car, you weren't happy.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, wrapping his arms around your waist. You allowed yourself to lean into him one last time, be his one last time. That was the Lando you fell for. The one that hugged and kissed you like no one else would ever matter to him, the one that looked at you like you held up the stars just for him. You never expected the honeymoon stage to last forever, but these fights weren’t normal. He ripped apart your character, your appearance, anything, just to make you feel as upset as him. You\’d been together for 4 years, and the problems started when he became Max’s rival.
“Lando, we’re not happy,” you started, feeling his hands drop from your waist. You turned around to face him. “At least, I’m not. I do everything you ask of me. I cook and clean, I dress up nice, I follow you around the fucking world and I gave up my dreams so that you could always have me at races. Now, all we do is fight. I’m fucking sick of it, alright? I’m tired of the fact that you either don’t love me anymore, or you don’t respect me, and I’d like to thank you for the 3 wonderful years we had before this year, and give you back your ring. You deserve someone less ambitious. You deserve someone paper-cut to be a WAG, Lando. I’m not that girl,” you sighed tearily. “When you find her, I suggest you tell her that you can be mean, you can be selfish, and you can be forgetful, but the trade for that is the sweetest man on the planet once the anger wears off. I’ve been around angry men my entire life, and I will not marry one. I’ll grab my things tomorrow. Goodbye Lando,” you brushed back at him, placing the golden engagement ring in his hand as you passed him by.
୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅
You left Monaco with all of your belongings, and went back home. You bought an apartment, and started your new job as a college professor. Before Lando you had been the best mathematician in the world. You had offers from every college from every college, but you chose the one closest to home. You didn’t think about Lando for months. You focused all of you attention on your students, all of your life was spent around numbers. You were finally happy. For the first time in a long time, you felt appreciated, you felt beautiful, and you felt happy.
“Y/n,” the British accent you knew so well made you physically cringe. “I wanted to talk to you.”
“Is it a mathematical problem?” you asked, not turning around as you sorted through papers.
“Not really?” he chuckled. “Please just look at me.”
You slowly turned around and looked at him. He looked like shit.
“I won,” he smiled, but it wasn’t a real smile. “I’m the Champion of the World.”
You held out your hand to shake his. “Congratulations.”
He took it with a frown. “I’m quitting F1.”
You stopped in your tracks when you heard that. “Why?”
“I did something really fucking stupid two years ago, and i need to make it right,” he admitted. “Y/n, I’m sorry. There’s no one else for me. You’re it. You’re my person, you make me feel so alive, so happy, so free, and I couldn’t even imagine what life would be like without you. Then I lived it. And it sucked. I know I’m an asshole, and I know you’re probably much better off without me, but I’m begging you, just let me back in your life, please? I’m falling apart without you baby.”
You stared at him. “Lando, I’m not asking you to stop racing because of me-”
“I did,” he smiled.
“I’m not taking you back,” you insisted. “You made me feel like a shell of my actual self for a year, and I held on because I knew you needed a punching bag so that you wouldn’t take it out on the people around you. I don’t miss you. I don’t love you. I don’t want to see you.”
His face fell and he was quiet for a moment. “So I’ve really fucked it up?”
“Yeah, now get the fuck out of my lab.”
୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅ A few months went by and the 2026 season started, and Landow as still on the grid, shocker. You didn’t care, he was a fucking asshole who didn’t deserve your time or companionship. You hoped he would choke every race start (which he did), get outperformed by Oscar (which he did), and loose to the WDC to Oscar (which he did). Karma.

Christmas with the MXTX couples:
HuaLian:
The most extravagantly decorated house and Christmas tree for at least several thousand miles - Hua Cheng is very particular about how everything should look to create the perfect mix between luxurious and cozy.
They use Hua Cheng's butterflies instead of Christmas lights, and mist decorations are made from gems or jewelry pieces. Everything is glittering.
With that being said, there a few absolutely fugly items scattered about the house that Xie Lian has collected through the years and formed attachments to, and Hua Cheng cannot let his aesthetic take away gege's chance to display the items he loves, unsightly as they might be.
There's always some kind of soft music playing, be it jazz or Christmas songs or instrumentals. Xie Lian loves to hum to it.
Hua Cheng lets Xie Lian cook if he wishes because he can personally take his food just fine and their guests (Mu Qing, Feng Xin, Qi Rong, He Xuan, Shi Qingxuan, Ling Wen, Pei Ming, Lang Qianqiu et. al) do not deserve the courtesy of edible food in his opinion. Besides, he loves to see gege enthusiastic about new holiday recipes. They end up cooking together most of the time though.
Xie Lian insists on wearing ugly Christmas sweaters. He thinks it's cute and funny and Hua Cheng (local diva and fashionista) shrivels up inside every time he has to put on a light up Christmas sweater. But for gege, he would do anything. He died 3 times for him, what's one day of fengqing making fun of him?
So many Christmas movies! They watch all the classics, then move on to cheesy Hallmark Christmas romances. They all need to have a happy ending though!
Everyone's gifts are from Xie Lian. Hua Cheng doesn't get anyone but his gege gifts. There are so many boxes under the tree that it's barely visible at all by this point.
Because he wears a lot of red, the others jokingly call Hua Cheng Santa Claus. He is not allowed to commit murder during the holidays so he can only glare and pout about it. Xie Lian finds it cute.
It's Yin Yu's one day off and he's also invited to the gathering but somehow still ends up organizing and directing things, just that he's a bit tipsy doing it because the eggnog slaps a bit too hard.
There is a non-zero chance one of Xie Lian's gifts consists of only a silk ribbon. And there is a non-zero chance he opens it in front of everyone by accident. Good luck explaining that one.
FengQing aren't allowed to fight each other or Hua Cheng. They end up arguing over Christmas movies as a proxy.
He Xuan brings his own food because he knows better.
WangXian:
Everyone wants to spend Christmas at the wangxian household - it's beautifully decorated, there's lots of food and a lot of opportunities for fun and chaos.
Wei Wuxian is allowed to cook but not add spices. Lan Wangji also can't add spices because he likes the bland Lan food. The compromise is to have Wen Ning taste and spice everything. It is a wonderful decision.
Mulled wine and hot chocolate are always available. You can also try some of Wei Wuxian's questionable brews, but you have to sign a waver for that.
Carolers love the wangxian household because they're very giving. There is a queue in front of their house and everything, Lan Jingyi manages it.
Lan Xichen does all the holiday baking. It's very relaxing for him and he loves being meticulous about decorating his cakes.
Decorating the Christmas tree is a family job but Sizhui always has to put the star on top. Nobody else is allowed. He has been doing this since he was 5 and will be doing so forever. Lan Wangji insists on lifting him to do so even if he can reach perfectly fine by himself now.
Wei Wuxian wraps gifts in the most chaotic way so nobody can guess what they got before they open it. They make a guessing game of it though and whoever is closest gets extra candy.
Everyone has to wear a santa hat. Yes, even Lan Qiren.
Jin Ling spends Christmas morning with Jiang Cheng and then rushes over to the wangxian house with Ouyang Zizhen. Sometimes he tries to drag his uncle with him. And sometimes he lets himself be dragged.
The gingerbread house contest is taken way too seriously by everyone. There's frosting all over the walls by the end, its a mess. There is never a clear winner and everyone accuses Lan Wangji (designated judge) to favoritism towards Lan Sizhui.
As Christmas Day ends and everybody returns to their homes, it is cleaning up and cuddling by the tree that WangXian enjoy most. If it snows, they watch it together in comfortable silence, maybe put on a movie in the background.
Then Wei Wuxian pulls the Christmas lingerie and the calm dissipates into a fit of giggles and moans.
BingQiu
Binghe enters the kitchen three days before Christmas and nobody sees him come out till Christmas Eve. He makes so much food it's insane. The place smells like a fairytale and Shen Qingqiu is pretty sure he has fallen in love with it almost as much as he's in love with his husband.
Shen Qingqiu is not allowed to do any work at all. No cooking, absolutely no cleaning, and they decorate the house together.
So much mistletoe. It's everywhere. The whole place is covered in it, their house is basically a mistletoe shrub at this point and there are so many kisses being shared
Binghe doesnt want to invite anyone over because his shizun is his and Christmas is about loved ones and Binghe definitely doesnt love those annoying peak lords! But he relents because he knows it means so much to Shen Qingqiu. He does not leave his side at all though and there's a hand around his waist constantly.
Everyone has to wear reindeer antlers just because Shen Qingqiu knows Shang Qinghua hates them and he likes pissing off this hack author. He gets over it quickly once he's given food though.
Shen Qingqiu gets so many gifts it's crazy. His harem is hard at work and he doesn't even realize it. He just thinks his friends are simply very thoughtful!
Binghe definitely gifts him some kind of strange sex toy among a million other things. It doesn't even look like a sex toy but Shen Qingqiu knows it is because the thing appeared a lot in pidw and he roasted Airplane about it every time. So much for that!
Binghe isn't allowed to fight Liu Qingge but that doesn't mean he won't try. There is a small chance of a food fight. Shang Qinghua manages the bets on who wins.
Mobei-Jun is just there cause Shang Qinghua is. He thinks this whole thing is very strange but he does like mulled wine so he will stick around. And if he and SQH disappear all of a sudden after a couple more cups of the thing, nobody asks questions.
Sha Hualing brings in some cursed demonic alcohol and SQQ has the half mind to just throw her out because he knows the effects of those drinks from pidw and he knows his body wont survive it. Binghe is very excited about it. Go figure.
Binghe does a slutty Kylie Minogue Santa Baby performance for SQQ after everyone leaves. He even has a see-through red outfit, stockings and a santa hat. Commitment to the bit I guess.

"Y/N LECLERC CROSSES THE LINE AND HISTORY IS MADE!"
"What an end to an incredible season, congratulations to Y/n and Prema Racing!"
“You’ve done it Y/n, world champion!!”
“Ahhhh!!!! Let’s go team, thank you all so much!! Oh wow, what an incredible season this has been, world champion guys!! C’mon!! Wooohooo!!”

When Y/n parked her car in the P1 spot, she stayed there for a few minutes before eventually getting out. She stood on the front of the car in celebration before jumping down and running to her team.
“Y/n! You did it!” Ollie shouted as the pair hugged tightly.
“World champion!!” Kimi called as he joined the pair hugging.
“Thanks guys!!” Y/n giggled before taking her helmet and balaclava off.
After Y/n got weighed and had a sip of water, she made her way over to Susie, who pulled her into a tight embrace.
“You shown today that it is possible for girls who have the same dream as you, welcome to the history books. You deserve this so much, sweetheart” Susie told her.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, I wouldn’t be in this position without you” Y/n replied before hugging Toto who congratulated her.
“Proud of you kiddo,” Lewis said as he hugged her tightly.
“Welcome to the club of F2 champions, Y/n!” George added as he and Carmen hugged the young girl after she left Lewis’s embrace.
Y/n greeted all the other Mercedes team that had come to watch her, then did her post race interview before making her way into the cool-down room.
After some time, she was stood on the top spot of the podium listening to the Monaco anthem being played, lifting the championship trophy in the air and getting sprayed with champagne.
In the crown below the podium, she saw the familiar faces of her family watching her..

“Y/n?”
Y/n knew instantly who that voice was, she turned around to be greeted by her family in front of her. She gave a faint smile to Charlotte, Alex and Jade as at the end of the day the three of them didn’t do anything.
“Yes? You need anything? I was just about to leave,” Y/n said.
“Congrats on the championship, you deserve it” Arthur told her.
“Oh, now I deserve it do I?” Y/n retorted.
“I know you only seen us at the end, but we did watch it on the tv” Pascale said.
“But none of you weren’t here in person, maman! Do you know how much this moment meant to me? It’s the biggest race in my career and none of you were there!
Look, I know what happened yesterday was intense but I couldn’t hold it in anymore. But I didn’t think you guys wouldn’t come to my race as you knew how important this meant to me. I can’t accept any apology from you, it really hurt me that you weren’t there today despite what happened yesterday..” Y/n told them.
“We knew that we shouldn’t have let what happened yesterday get to us, we are so sorry that we didn’t come today..” Lorenzo replied.
“Just come to the hospitality before my race? We just want to make it up to you” Charles said.
“Please petite sœur,” Arthur added but Y/n stayed quiet.
“Chéri?” Pascale questioned.
“Fine, I’ll see you there Y/n told them after some silence before leaving towards her garage.

An answered prayer || K. Wagner x Fem!Mutant!Reader

Content Warning: Christmas stuff, fluff and a sprinkle of jealous Kurt
Words: 1.2k
Authors Note: This is an anon request, I believe? Might have Lost a name on accident, oopsies... Enjoy <3 And Happy Holidays!!!
Tumblr media
Christmas, what a wonderful time of year. The fire's lit, holiday music playing as the rest of the team enjoys the annual party and secret Santa exchange. Holding his own gift from his dear sister in his lap. Trying to focus on anything but the sight he's transfixed on.
He's supposed to be blue, feeling the sharp green of envy pulling at the edges of his being as he stares down their leader. Grinning wide as he hands over your gift. Watching you rip away at the shiny silver wrapping paper across the common room, hearing you loudly gasp.
Probably something practical and thoughtful... Typical Scott.
And now you're gushing over some stupid cable-knit sweater as you put it to your front. Pulling Scott into a tight embrace as he, albeit awkwardly, hugs you back with a tight smile. Kurt can feel his brows pin together, tail flicking against his own calves in irritation. He knows he has no real right to be jealous. You're not his. Not officially, at least.
You're aware of each other's feelings and have been on a few dates even. But with his duties to the council in Genosha, he hardly gets to see you unless it's fairly important or the occasional time off. Which, obviously, he hates, holding a candle for you for the longest time now.
Kurt sighs, turning his attention back to the fire, arms crossed over his chest as he takes in the dancing flames in the fireplace as everyone buzzes around him. The sound of the party makes it hard to think of anything but your smile crossing his mind.
Sighing, he stands from the couch, heading outside into the cold. Standing out on the back step of the mansion. Looking across the beautiful blanket of fresh white snow just fallen earlier that morning. The inky night sky filled with stars for once over the trees.
That feeling of jealousy still not leaving him. Heart beating against his chest as he takes a deep breath. Closing his eyes as his hands pressed together, a huff of cloudy air escaping him as he softly prayed to himself.
"Heavenly Father, give me the strength to resist the temptation of jealousy. Help me to trust in Your plan and to find contentment in Your provision... She knows not what she does to me, and I know a devil like me isn't supposed to ask for anything... But all I want is her... Bless my friends, bless my dear family, and please, Lord, bless mein Schatz. Amen."
The door creaks open behind him, yellow eyes cutting through the darkness as he looks back to see you standing at the door, arm behind your back with that sweet smile he's come to love.
"Am I interrupting something?" You ask softly, a half smile coming to his lips as he shakes his head, waving you to come outside.
Coming out, you close the door gently, stepping over to him with a quiet kind of grace. Silence filling the air as you both look out into the night sky. So close together, you can feel Kurt's body heat from just being next to him.
It's now or never...
Clearing your throat, you meet his eyes, moving your arm from behind your back. A cute little bag with two kids building a snowman together hanging off your fingers. Blue, sparkling tissue paper billowing from the top with a tiny tag hanging from the handle.
"Merry Christmas..." He looks a little dumbfounded, looking down at the bag before taking it in his palms.
"My sister, she... gave me a gift already?" You chuckle with a nod.
"I know, I got Remy for the Secret Santa. Gave him this really nice deck of cards I found when we had a mission overseas a few weeks ago, but I wanted to give you something too... Special people deserve special gifts." He thanked God in that moment; it was dark out, and you'd see his entire face turn purple as he blushed.
"I... didn't get you anything." You just shrug, not honestly caring about it in the long run.
"My gift can be the look on your face when you open yours. Come on." You nudge the side of the bag, making him look it over. Taking note of how you crossed out "from" on the attached card and wrote "love" instead. Making his stomach do an involuntary flip. Moving the tissue paper away, he pulls out a flat square box, glancing up at you with a small scoff.
"This isn't going to be dozens of tiny boxes, is it?" You tap his shoulder with a roll of your eyes.
"Just open it!" He smiles, pulling the lid away. Face falling as the dim light catches the shiny silver circle pendant. A piece of ivory in the middle with their initials engraved together. He feels his chest tighten, looking up into your eyes in shock.
"I thought it would look good next to your rosary... And you always talk about how we don't get enough time together... Now I can be with you all the time in some way." His eyes fall back to the box, quickly pulling out the necklace and inspecting it closer.
"This... This is beautiful. And so thoughtful..."
"Well, it's just something I thought you needed... Plus, I... I've been wanting to talk to you about something." His eyes shoot back up to you. Looking into your eyes with a hint of disbelief.
"About what?"
"Us." His eyes widen, mouth opening like a fish as you close the gap, pressing your hand to his cheek with an affectionate stroke of your thumb.
"You mean so much to me, Kurt, and it's been killing me to not... Be with you. I miss you constantly and can't stop thinking about you all the time." His free hand drifts over yours on his cheek with a content sigh.
"I can't stop thinking about you either... I don't want you to think that it's necessary for us to be together if we're—" You silence him, kissing him with a tender touch he's never felt before. His head tilts, pressing into you, hand traveling to snake his arm around your waist. Pulling you even closer to his warm frame with a fondness he could only hold for you.
Lips separate, the shared warmth between you almost suffocating to a degree.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted to hear you say that, mein Schatz... Merry Christmas." Leaning back in, your lips connect briefly before there's a bang at the door, making you both nearly jump out of your skin.
It's Gambit at the door with a grin on his face, Rogue behind him with a soft giggle as she covers her mouth with a gloved hand. Quickly you turn away from their prying eyes, feeling your face heat up as the thick Cajun drawl pours through the glass.
"Dinner's on the table, lovebirds! Time's ticking' before Cyclops has that aneurysm if you two don't move." He laughs before walking back towards the dining room, arm around Rogue as they disappear. You sigh, rubbing your cheeks to make the heat go away, Kurt only smiling wider as he slips his present box back in the bag. Holding up the necklace, he gives it one last look before turning your face back to look at his.
"Could you help me put this on so I can show my gift to everyone, mein Schatz?"

𐙚 christmas morning with riize .ᐟ
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆˚𝜗𝜚˚⋆ advent calendar, day twenty-five: the finale! pairing: bf!riize x reader, genre: fluff! warnings: SO MUCH LOVE </33
synopsis: how riize would make your christmas feel extra special!
a/n: merry christmas my briize friends! i hope all of you guys had an amazing christmas! the advent calendar is coming to a close, so i wanted to show my appreciation for everyone who showed support! i had so much fun writing these holiday fics and i'm glad so many of you enjoyed them <3 i still have five (and maybe a bonus winkwink) fics that i'll be posting to make up for my mini hiatus, so this will not be the last. again. thank you so much ! 🧡
                     ⋆ ˚ ۪ ⋆ ୨୧
Tumblr media
✩ shotaro ⸝⸝
shotaro is the sweetest boy in the world, so of course christmas morning would be like a dream come true! the night prior, taro snuggled up with you and stroked your hair until you fell asleep. but the second he heard your light snores, he cautiously snuck off to the living room and began his christmas magic. he grabs a huge bag of gifts he's hidden in the basement and begins wrapping all of them by the christmas tree, ensuring not to exceed the squeak of a mouse.
the next morning, you shake taro awake and press frantic kisses on his face, desperate to open the gifts you've been waiting weeks for. but once the two of you reach the living room, your excitement melts into a puddle of pure astonishment and adoration for your sweet bf :(
"surprise! merry christmas, honey!"
✩ eunseok ⸝⸝
eunseok can't help but smile every time you go on and on about how excited you are for christmas. he loves seeing that silly little grin every time he brings up the holidays so much to the point where he mentions christmas almost every few hours. your jittery anticipation is just so cute <3
but that does not mean he's nice! even though you woke up so much earlier than usual and begged him to get up and open gifts, he would shake his head and say you're not allowed to open gifts until you eat :( so he cooks this luxurious and well-balanced breakfast so good you forget all about being upset! he buys you tons and tons of clothing and jewelry so you can always think of him when you wear the pretty clothes he picked out for you <3
"you would look so pretty in this dress, darling."
✩ sungchan ⸝⸝
no matter the time of year, sungchan is always spoiling the hell out of you. you tell him about a pretty necklace you want and its at your doorstep within days. he never lets his pretty princess miss out on all the fancy things she deserves. so of course he goes all out for christmas!
when you send him your christmas wishlist, he makes sure to buy every. single. item. there is nothing he wouldn't buy you. even if you wish for a unicorn and a gun he WILL get that horse armed with the meanest glock you've ever seen. the only issue is... he's a bit of a procrastinator. after you open all of your gifts on christmas, he'll keep his head low and giggle in shame, admitting he ordered your gifts a bit late and they won't be here until mid january. but you can't even be mad at him because that silly bf of yours is the best gift you could ever ask for :(
"i'm sorry princess... i swear i got everything on your list!"
✩ wonbin ⸝⸝
wonbin being the sweet little perfectionist he is, he'll be up all night worrying if you'll like your gifts or not :( he's lying beside you, biting his nails and fretting if he got everything on your wishlist while you're out cold. but the next morning, you couldn't understand what he was worried about.
everything was like a dream. all of your gifts were wrapped in the fanciest shiny wrapping paper and even decorated with pretty silk ribbons on each box. he even put together multiple gift baskets for you, filled with all of your favorite snacks and even cute photos of the both of you :( how could he ever doubt himself when he's the best boyfriend in the world?
"did i get everything you wanted, baby? if there's anything i missed, just let me know."
✩ seunghan ⸝⸝
seunghan just can't contain his excitement! he wakes you up a little earlier than planned with dozens of kisses peppered all over your face because he's just so eager to give you your gifts :( you're a bit cranky from being woken up an hour earlier than necessary but once you begin opening his gifts, you forget every complaint you've ever had.
all of his gifts would be packed with so much love and consideration. everything was wrapped in your favorite color and even had small cards inside every single box. every gift would have a little note attached to it, telling you the silly stories of the troubles he's endured to get you that gift. some gifts would even have cute blurbs about how cute you'd look using the gift :(
"i'm sorry for waking you up early, angel... i hope these make up for it!"
✩ sohee ⸝⸝
this little sohee guy is silly alright. no matter the occasion, sohee is always gonna find a way to make you either laugh until your stomach hurts or massage your temples in frustration. he loves messing with you, so of course he had to buy an elf on the shelf this christmas. every day since december first, that elf has been nothing but a menace. some mornings he'd kindly leave a bunch of hershey kisses on the kitchen counter for you, yet other mornings he'd trash your entire room with toilet paper and call it a snowstorm.
if you didn't have a headache already, there was no way the elf would leave you alone on christmas. on christmas morning, sohee would wake you up with this silly grin on his face telling you to get ready quickly so he can show you your "gifts." but of course the frickin elf made a huge igloo out of the gift boxes, leaving it in the center of the living room and sitting on top of it with that smug smirk on his face. you couldn't lie, it was quite impressive.
"WOAH!!! HE GIFTED YOU A NEW HOUSE!!!"
(ps. you saw him on the doggy monitor getting up at 4am to make the gift igloo, but you couldn't get enough of his proud little smile so you kept quiet!)
✩ anton ⸝⸝
your baby anton is so stupidly in love with you :( he'd spend months in advance searching for the perfect gifts for you, buying everything you mention wanting. you knew about this after seeing a note on his phone with all of the items you've spoken about, but you didn't expect this christmas to be even more exciting than you'd concluded.
he would be super duper excited to give you the gifts he prepared because they're just so heartwarming </3 anton would handcraft those mementos of his favorite photos of you and your favorite flowers. everything would even be wrapped in your favorite color with silly little stickers all over them :( anton never misses even the smallest details about you. he does all of this for you but even if you got him just a simple hoodie, he'd probably tear up (yes he's a loser for you).
"you deserve even more than this, my love."

Authors Note: I got these amazing prompts from a fellow writers page @bonniebird Bonnie is an inspiration to me as well as an amazing writer and artist. I did change some of them up so they fit the story better, but I did try to keep them pretty close to the original prompts. Anyway, Bonnie’s work never fails to make me smile and feel all the feelings that I should when reading. I WISH I could write as amazingly as she does, but I’m nowhere near her level yet, I hope and pray that one day I will be. Ladies and gentlemen please go give her love and support because she really deserves it. She’s one of my many inspirations and I’m so so happy to use her prompts because they really pushed me to write this fic even though I was blocked for all of my other works. I feel like it helped me break out of it, so THANK YOU Bonnie for everything 🩵🩵🩵
Also this is our first JJ Maybank fic. We have so much coming out for JJ he will eventually be added into our main people we write for so be on the look out for when we add that in. We both hope you guys enjoy this one. 🩵
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You hum softly to yourself along with the Christmas music you have playing as you lay out the decorations. Every Christmas, you, John B, your dad, and JJ would enjoy Christmas together. When you were growing up and found out what JJ’s dad did to him (you didn’t tell them of course, because that’s JJ’s place to tell people about it), you begged for JJ to start spending the holidays with you. Ever since that very first time they agreed, he’s always come over. It’s always been your absolute favorite time of year. How could it not be? When you have JJ and John B around you, your two favorite people? This year is different though, because it’s the first Christmas without your father since he had disappeared only a few months ago now.
“Hey. Wow. You’ve really got everything ready,” John B comments in shock as he looks at everything you’ve laid out so far.
“It’s Christmas, JB, of course I’ve got everything ready. Don’t I always?” You ask, raising an eyebrow at him and shrugging.
“I can’t believe it’s Christmas Eve and we’re only now decorating…” you shake your head and he chuckles.
“I know normally you have it all started the last week of November,” he comments, amusement clear in his tone.
“I know right! I’m so behind. This year has been a lot… it’s been one stressful year…” you mutter out with a roll of your eyes and he again hums in amusement as you bite your lip.
“Hey. I get it. It definitely has been wild,” John B agrees and you sigh.
“It’s just… it’s the first one without dad. We should still celebrate, be happy to still all be together right?” You ask, unsure of your own words.
“Of course, bug. I’m sure we’ll enjoy it,” he tells you as he stops you for a moment to pull you into a hug.
“Plus, I’ll have my two favorite guys with me. I’m happy and I refuse to not be happy during my favorite time of year,” you push away from the hug as you ramble while continuing to lay stuff out, not bothering to spare a look at your brother.
“Hey. I get it. I do. No need to preach it to me, bug,” he reverently tells you, giving you a small shrug.
You continue to lay ornaments and many other decorations out on the table. You step back to look at your handiwork, proud of how it looks. You get pulled out of your thoughts when your brother laughs, making you look at him instead.
“What?” You ask him, eyebrow propped and he points down at your feet.
"Cute Christmas socks," he tells you though chuckles and you look down at them, pushing up onto your toes.
“Oh, really? Good, I got both you and JJ a pair of your own,” you inform him with a giant grin and his face falls.
“There’s no way JJ will be wearing those…” he tells you and you giggle.
“Who says! They’re cute!” You cry out and he chuckles, shaking his head.
“Sorry to tell ya, bee, JJ doesn’t do cute,” he tells you with humor lacing his tone.
“Fine. You’ll wear them though, right?” You ask, giving him puppy dog eyes.
“Not a chance. Puppy eyes don’t work on me anymore, bee,” he tells you and you smirk even though he’s not looking at you.
“Really? Then why won’t you look at me, huh?” You teasingly ask and he huffs.
“No reason. No reason at all. Speaking of your two favorite people, where's the other?” John B asks with a hint of humor, changing the subject as he picks up an ornament to look at before carefully setting it back down.
“Actually, he was supposed to be here about thirty minutes ago…” you comment as you finally look up at the clock.
“Don’t worry, bug. It’s JJ, I’m sure he’s just running late,” John B tries to comfort you, but you shake your head, rushing over to start putting your jacket on.
“Exactly. It’s JJ. He’s never late this time of year. He loves having Christmas with us,” you comment as you shove your feet into your shoes.
“Bug? What are you doing?” John B rushes over to you and you shrug as you stand while zipping up your jacket.
“I’m going to look for him. What if he needs us?” You counter as you wrap a scarf around your neck and John B sighs.
“I’m coming with you then,” he informs you as he grabs his own jacket.
You give him a look of exasperation before shaking your head once more. You pull the door open before starting down the porch, but John B pulls you to a stop. You go to yell at him, but he raises his hands in surrender before pointing over at something and you turn to look where he's pointing. You see JJ sitting curled up on the dock and you sigh in relief.
“You go talk to him. I’ll finish setting up, okay?” John B offers and you smile softly at him.
“Don’t you wanna go over?” You ask, popping an eyebrow at him and he pauses with lips pursed in thought.
“No. It looks more like a you and him moment,” John B answers with a small soft smile.
“Okay. If you’re sure, birdy,” you tell him, giving a side eye to see if he changes his mind.
When he doesn’t show any signs of changing his mind, you firmly nod at him before starting to walk over to JJ as John B heads back inside. It’s a cold night so you bring your cupped hands up to your mouth and breathe into them, hoping to warm yourself up a little. Once your hands have warmed up, you move them under your armpits, trying to keep them that way as you move closer and closer to JJ.
“Jayj…” you call out softly and you can see your breath in the air.
“Hi, cupcake…” he mutters, not looking at you which makes you frown.
“Wanna tell me what’s wrong?” You ask as you sit next to him, your feet dangling over the side of the dock.
“JJ, talk to me…” you mutter out when he doesn’t answer and you move to cuddle into his side, but he uses his shoulder to shove you off, still keeping his face out of view.
“JJ. Seriously, what is wrong?” You ask as you grab his shoulder, trying to pull him to look at you even though you have an opinion on what’s going on.
“Just leave me alone cupcake. Please?” He practically begs, still turned away from you and you frown even harder.
“Jayj, please…” you whisper out to him once again and he sighs, finally turning to you not liking the hurt sound of your voice.
“Oh, JJ…” you gasp when you see his face full of black and blue bruises, you had a thought that’s it be about his dad, but you had no clue it’d be this bad.
“See, that’s why…” he mutters, looking away from you once more.
“I don’t want you pitying me again… you do it far too often,” he mutters after you haven’t said anything.
“I don’t pity you, JJ. If anything I think it makes you incredibly strong…” you tell him with a firmness to your tone and he feels himself getting choked up.
“Yeah… whatever…” he responds, not believing you as he shoves you off again.
“I’m really sorry, JJ…” you mutter softly, not knowing what else to say to get him to believe you. You frown with a shake of your head as tears well up in your eyes.
“What do you have to be sorry for? You didn’t do this…” JJ asks as he still refuses to look at you and you reach out for him again.
“I’m sorry you have to go through this. I’m sorry you got dealt such a bad hand in life. I wish… I wish I could force Luke to see you. To actually see you,” you explain as you're finally able to pull him to look at you. He wishes he could wipe your frown off but only smiles softly at you.
“It’s not so bad. I’ve got you and John B. It could be worse I guess,” he tells you with a shrug as he looks away again and out to the water.
“I mean, you are right. Having us is pretty awesome,” you agree playfully, bouncing your eyebrows and he chuckles to himself, shaking his head. You smile, seeing his tough exterior finally starting to break down.
“It really is,” he softly agrees as he still looks out over the water and you hold back a sigh.
“Well, are you going to stay out here in the cold all night and stew in what happened? Or are you going to come in and have fun with your favorite person?” You goad him while nudging him with your shoulder.
“Oh, John B’s my favorite person now, huh?” he playfully asks, his own lips forming a bit bigger of a smirk now and you gasp.
“Umm, no. I was actually talking about myself,” you respond with a deadpan look that makes him smile even more as he laughs, shaking his head.
“What makes you think you’re my favorite person?” he asks you, all smiles now and you can’t help but smile alongside him.
“It made you smile, didn’t it?” You answer him with a shrug and he’s shaking his head in disbelief again.
“Yeah… yeah. It did,” he chuckles, continuing to smile softly at you.
"Well come on, then, let's get inside. We have a tree to decorate still and many other Christmas festivities,” you tell him with a beaming smile as you go to get up, but he reaches out and stops you.
“Can we maybe just stay here for a moment more?” he mutters out and you blink at him for a moment.
“Yeah, of course, Jayj…” you softly tell him and he smiles a small smile at you.
The two of you sit in silence for a little while before JJ, who's not wearing a coat, starts to shake a little bit."Come here. I bet you can fit in my coat with me and it’ll warm you up," You tell him as you hold your coat open to him.
“Thanks, cupcake,” he mutters as he slides in under your arm and you smile warmly at him.
“Of course, Jayj. It’s us against the world,” you whisper to him as you bring your pinky up and he smiles again before bringing his up as well, wrapping it around yours.
“Us against the world, cupcake,” he agrees and you sigh, laying your head against his that now lays on your shoulder.
“Hey, is this my scarf?” he asks after a while of silence as he lifts one of the sides of the scarf up.
“Umm. Yeah, I think it’s the one you left here last year. I found it in my winter clothes. You can have it back if you want,” you answer with your cheeks burning hot and you try to hide your face.
“Nah. Keep it. It’s a better fit on you than me,” he tells you softly and again you can’t help but blush.
He says nothing else after that, just cuddles back into your shoulder and you squeeze his shoulder. The two of you stay sitting there, cuddling while looking out over the water in silence and just enjoying each other’s presence.
Tumblr media
“Hey, tweedledee and tweedledum, are you two going to stay out there all night and make me decorate alone? Or are you going to come be of some help?”John B calls out for the two of you from the edge of the dock and you both roll your eyes.
“Well, you ready to go in?” You ask him and he smiles at you before nodding.
“Yeah, let’s go,” he agrees before pulling away and the two of you start to stand.
"Be careful cupcake, you’re clumsy and it’s really slippery out here,” JJ tells you as he stands up and you cross your arms.
“I’m not that clumsy!” You fight back and he hums in amusement.
“Okay. I’ll believe that when you're not tripping over thin air,” he jokes back with a smirk and you scowl at him.
“Whatever…” you tell him as you roll your eyes before turning and taking a step to head back to the house.
You let out a small gasp as you start to fall back, but JJ, knowing you well, was already reacting and quickly pulling you back up. You stare at him in shock for a moment before you slowly start to smile, making him smile too.
"You were right. The ground really is so slippery,” You joke, eyes wide in shock and he playfully rolls his eyes at you.
“Never change, cupcake. You’re truly one of a kind,” JJ tells you with a grin that’s utterly infectious.
“Only if you promise never to change yourself, Jayj. You’re one of a kind too,” you request and he nods in agreement.
You both stare at one another for a moment, your eyes staring into the blue pools that are his eyes that you’ve come to love so much over the years and you have a burning need to kiss him. You can feel his heart going what seems to be a mile a minute as he watches your eyes flicker down to his lips and back up to his eyes, his eyes doing the same. He squeezes your waist gently with a million thoughts of how your lips might taste flying though his mind and he wishes he could just kiss the adorable frown off your face, but he knows he can’t, making him frown too. You frown even deeper before opening your mouth to ask him why he’s frowning, but before you get the chance, you get cut off.
“Hey! Would you two stop making eyes at each other and come help me decorate!” John B calls out again, interrupting the moment and you almost groan.
“Thanks for catching me, Jayj,” you whisper out and something flashes through his eyes for a moment, an emotion you can’t quite decipher before he grins again letting you go.
“I’ll always catch you, cupcake,” he promises with a light smile before the two of you start to walk over to John B.
You slip a little bit once more, but you reach out and grab onto JJ’s arm. He looks down at you and chuckles as you cling to him like a koala bear, making him chuckle.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get you to the end of the dock safely,” he promises with a laugh as he laces his fingers through yours and continues to walk over to John B.
Tumblr media
"Chaos has come again, man!” JJ announces as you and he walk into the château before he’s letting go of you to walk over to John B.
“Don’t think that’s a good thing man,” John B deadpans and you fight to hold back a giggle as JJ pulls back from the guy hug the share looking offended.
“Fine then, I take it back. You’re definitely not my favorite person. It’s cupcake,” JJ says as he pulls you into him from behind.
“Oh so now I’m your favorite,” you ask, crossing your arms and giving a faux annoyed look.
“Let’s be completely honest bee, I think you always have been even when he lies outta his butt and says you aren't,” John B comments with a roll of his eyes as he picks up an ornament and hangs it on the tree.
“It’s disgusting sometimes really,” John B continues with a fake gag as he hangs the ornament up on the tree.
“Ohh. I wanna do the Angel!” You happily call out clapping your hands and John B chuckles.
“Don’t you always do it? This year’s no different, Bee. It’s your one job,” John B comments in amusement making you pout.
“It’s not my only job! I have others,” you fight back and JJ chuckles, slinging his arm around your shoulder.
“Yeah, JB her other jobs lookin pretty,” JJ comments as he hugs you into his side and you fight a blush as you groan pushing him away.
“I extremely dislike both of you,” you comment, crossing your arms with a look of dismay falling on your face and they both grin.
“That’s not true. You LOVE us,” both of them singsong to you and you uncross your arms shaking your head.
“Okay maybe I do, but let’s get this show on the road,” you finally cave and agree with them before walking over to start decorating the tree some more.
“Okay miss head elf,” JJ jokes with a roll of his eyes and John B laughs.
“Oh that’s a good one Jayj. She really is a snappy head elf this time of year isn’t she?” John B agrees before pushing the joke a little further and you pause crossing your arms.
"Call me elf one more time!" You seeth out through clenched teeth and they share a look.
“Awe come on elffie. It’s a cute Christmas nickname that’s all. Plus you're the perfect height for it,” JJ tells you again, wrapping an arm around your shoulder as he squeezes you affectionately and you huff, shaking your head.
“Yeah, yeah. Come on, let’s get decorating already…” you tell them in annoyance and JJ snickers along with John B.
Together you, JJ and John B all dance around and decorate making you completely forget about everything that’s been going on the past few months. For a moment it’s just you and your two favorite people living happily with nothing and nobody to take it away from you. You’d give anything to live every single day like this. You walk away still laughing at something JJ had said and walk back in with the scissors. You stop and fondly watch as John B and JJ fight over who gets to put an ornament on a certain branch. Blue Christmas by Elvis starts to play and without realizing it you start to cry.
“You okay there cupcake?” JJ asks as he turns around to see you crying and worry flows through him.
“I’m okay Jayj…” you tell him softly with a gentle smile on your face as you set the scissors on the table.
“Then why the tears?” John B asks and you giggle wiping at your eyes.
“I just wish we could all live like this everyday. Just us three having the times of our lives with nothing to worry about,” you start pausing to catch your breath a little bit and to sniffle.
“Both Kie and Pope have their parents. I’m happy to just have you two,” you explain more tears welling up in your eyes and JJ clicks his tongue coming over to give you a hug.
“I’m happy we have each other too, Bee, but unfortunately we can’t have it everyday. There’s always going to be good and bad days,” John B agrees with you as he to comes over to hug you.
“I know, I just wish it could be that way,” you sigh out and JJ squeezes you once more.
“I think we all do, cupcake. Let’s just try to live in this moment then yeah? Enjoy the time we have?” He asks and you grin up at him.
“Yeah, okay,” you agree and he smiles happy to see you back to your happy go lucky self.
You gasp as the song’s lyrics perfectly fit the moment. “But I’ll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas without you,” you sing along to Elvis as you sway and JJ shakes his head, but smiles as he watches you enjoy the music.
“Perfect timing, much?” He jokes propping an eyebrow making both you and John B burst out laughing.
“Yeah… definitely don’t quit your day job bug,” John B jokes and you shrug seemingly unfazed by his playful insult.
“And what day job would that be birdy? Hunting for gold?” You playfully ask back, sticking your tongue out at him.
“Okay. Okay… you win,” he chuckles, holding his hands up in surrender.
“I always win,” you say in a devious tone with an equally devious look.
“Don’t I always win, Jay?” You ask, turning to JJ who looks between you and John B in a panic for a moment.
“Sorry JB. I have to say she is definitely a winner in my book,” JJ tells both of you and you let out a cheer pumping your fist in the air.
“Eat it birdy!” You cheer out as you do a little dance.
“So not fair! JJ’s only on your side because he’s crushing hard. Let’s bring Sarah in as a tie breaker,” John B complains and you pause your dance crossing your arms as you prop an eyebrow at him.
“How would that break the tie? One. Sarah, so would choose me too and second that’d only make it tied even more even if she did choose you,” you comment very pointedly and he shrugs sticking his tongue out.
“At least it’d be more fair. Again, JJ only chose you because he’s crushing on you,” John B again points out and you shake your head.
“And Sarah is so crushing on you,” you point out and JJ lets out an “ooooohhh” making you laugh.
“She got you there JB,” JJ comments with a smirk that’s infectiously making you smirk too.
“Okay birdy, you win. I take it as a compliment that my favorite person is crushing on me though,” you happily reply, leaving a kiss on JJ’s cheek and he blushes before awkwardly clearing his throat.
“Okay. Okay. Enough fighting you two. I think it’s time to put the angel up right?” JJ cuts in only wanting to change the whole subject as he holds the Angel up for you to take from him.
“Yeah, okay.” You agree as you take the Angel from him.
You look down at the Angel in your hands, the angel you and your mom had picked out together when you were five. You don’t remember much of her, John B does because he’d been a little older (he’d been seven) when she left, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t still hurt when you think about how she’d just left the three of you behind. John B and your dad had told you so much about her that sometimes she felt like a phantom to you, like someone that was there for a second, someone you knew so well, then gone the very next. Tears well up in your eyes and you look up at John B. He immediately knows what you’re thinking and lets out a sigh, sad for you as always, he always felt sad you couldn’t fully remember her like he could.
“I know, bug. I miss mom too,” John B sympathizes with you and you wipe under your eyes as JJ squeezes your shoulder.
“I just wish I’d gotten to actually know her a little more,” you mutter and JJ pulls you into a hug knowing that’s the only sure way to comfort you.
“Here, cupcake. Let me pick you up so you can reach the top of the Christmas tree.” JJ tells you after pulling away from the hug and he bends down before slipping his head between your legs lifting you as he stands.
“You better not drop me Jayj!” You squeak out before giggling hysterically as you’re now sitting on his shoulders one hand in his hair the other holding the angel and he stands straight.
“I would NEVER dream of it cupcake,” he sweetly tells you as he holds you a little tighter to make it known he definitely won’t drop you.
You grin as you put the Angel on the tree before looking down to see JJ looking up at you. You then nod at him and he bends to let you down slowly. Once you have both feet on the ground he stands up straight next to you. You smile at him before suddenly you're letting out a gasp pushing JJ away just the slightest but in your excitement.
“What? What’s wrong?” JJ asks immediate worry, taking over as he looks at John B for help, but John B just shrugs just as confused.
“It’s If Everyday Was Like Christmas my favorite Elvis Christmas song,” you happily explain and JJ lets out a sigh of relief shaking his head.
“We should have known,” John B playfully rolls his eyes
“Oh we really should have dude. She is an old soul,” JJ agrees and he chuckles as you start to sway again just as you had with Blue Christmas and JJ shakes his head again too as you hold a hand out for him.
“What?” JJ asks with an arched eyebrow and you grin making his heart melt at seeing you so happy.
"I want to dance with you. Come on. Dance with me Jayj,” you beg, holding your hand out to him more insistently.
“Okay, but you should know I’m not a good slow dancer sweetheart,” he informs you as he takes your hand in his and you smile as you help him get into position.
“It’s okay J. Just sway with me. We don’t have to be all that fancy, we’re Pogues, remember? Not kooks,” you remind and he throws his head back laughing before calming as he sways with you.
“P4L. Never a kook,” JJ happily agrees, proud that you feel the same way he does.
You lay your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes and his leans against yours. He looks at John B for a moment over your shoulder who seems to be watching the two of you fondly. John B then surprises him by putting his hands up in surrender before leaving the room and JJ melts against you a little more.
Tumblr media
When If Everyday Was Like Christmas ends both of you slowly come to a stop and you lift your head from his shoulder to look at him. You smile softly at him and again there’s a moment where you lock eyes. His bright brilliant blue eyes shining with happiness and another emotion that makes you think you might just kiss, but just like all the other moments over the years where you’d been close John B walks back into the room.
“And what’s going on here?” John B asks ever the overprotective brother that he is and you roll your eyes.
“Nothing birdy. Are we watching die hard or not?” You ask changing the subject as you push away from JJ and he fights not to frown at the missing feeling of your body heat.
“Not. I thought we could open a gift or two,” John B tells you and you arch an eyebrow at him.
“I thought we all agreed on no gifts this year?” You ask and John B shrugs.
"I’d be down. I know we said no presents this year but I wanted to get you both something special to show you how much I appreciate you, so I uhh did…" JJ admits with a shrug in agreement and John B grins shrugging along with JJ.
“My gifts really aren't much. Just one to open tonight and tomorrow for each of us. All have super special meaning that’s all,” John B informs you and you grin shaking your head.
“Well I really can’t say much. I did the same thing,” you admit with a giggle when they both give you a shocked look.
“Bee! It was your idea!” John B cries out and you smile sheepishly.
“Oppps,” you shrug feigning innocence, shrugging "Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone else right?” You ask with a lopsided grin and John B lets out a chortle shaking his head almost in disbelief.
“I mean she’s not wrong dude,” JJ happily chirps out and you smirk, bouncing your eyebrows.
“I’m never wrong Jayj,” you joke with him poking his side and he playfully scoffs.
“Okay. Yeah, whatever you want to believe cupcake,” he humors you as he rubs at the spot you’d poked him in.
Tumblr media
After opening gifts you’d all decided to watch the movie so you cuddle up next to JJ and John B decides to sit in the chair off to the side. As the movie plays JJ lays behind you his strong arm wrapped around your waist like normal and anytime he laughs you feel the warm air from his mouth over your neck making goosebumps rise on your arms. You fight the whole movie not to fall even more in love with him and the way he holds you, but just like any other time the two of you cuddle you do.
“Well, I’m beat. I’m going to bed,” John B announces as he slaps his hands down on the arms of the chair and pushes himself up.
“Goodnight JB,” you call out as he walks toward his room and he turns around.
“Goodnight bumblebee. Sleep tight,” he replies with a soft smile your way.
“So cupcake, you heading to bed too?” JJ asks and you look up at him.
“I’m not really tired. I might go lay in the hammock for a little while,” you inform him and he nods letting go of your waist.
“You could come join me if you want, but you definitely don’t have to,” you tell him biting at your lip, nervous he might say no and he chuckles.
“And skip out on our special hammock time?” He asks like he is offended and he smiles when you perk up.
“Really?” You ask in excitement and he smiles even more.
“Really cupcake. I love our hammock time. Let’s go,” he promises softly as he pushes up off the couch and grabs the blanket the two of you always use.
He then turns to you and looks down at you sitting up before reaching a hand out to you. You smile almost shyly as you slip your hand into his and he pulls you up from the couch. He wraps his arm around your shoulders and together you walk out of the château. You both walk down the stairs and over to the hammocks.
“After you princess,” JJ tells you as he bows like a butler would and you giggle shaking your head.
“Why thank you. You're a very kind Prince, you know that?” You ask him as he lays down with you now and he holds his arm up for you to cuddle up to his side.
“Well it’s easy to be kind to a princess like you,” he tells you and you roll your eyes at his flirty ness as he uses his other hand to put the blanket over the two of you.
You giggle as he struggles to lay the blanket out evenly over the two of you and you reach out to grab the other side, pulling it over yourself. He chuckles softly, shaking his head before finally relaxing and he squeezes you softly as the two of you look up to watch the very prominent stars in the sky.
“Can I tell you a secret cupcake?” He whispers out to you after a few minutes as he uses his fingers to rub your arm.
“Of course Jayj… you can tell me anything. You know that,” you promise as you cuddle into his side even more.
"I believe the Abominable Snowman may be real... I think there may be something in that." He whispers and you slowly grin, turning to smile up at him.
“You might actually be right… I mean who’s to say he’s not real?” You ask and he chuckles, shaking his head loving the fact that you just agree with him.
“I think I may have everything I want right here right now,” you whisper out as you cuddle back down into him with a hum of contentment.
"Everything I want I can’t have." He admits and you frown pushing up to look at him again.
“What do you mean? You don’t have everything you want? What else could you want?” You ask with a frown, sad that he could possibly not be as happy as you thought he was.
He takes a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment before letting them open once more. His blue eyes stare into yours and you almost lose yourself in them.
“You,” he whispers almost nervously and you’ve never seen JJ at his nervous before as you raise an eyebrow at him.
“Jayj. You have me. I’m not sure why you think you don’t,” you tell him in confusion and he huffs in anger, but not in anger at you, no he’d never be angry at you, but he is angry you're not getting it.
“No princess. You don’t get it… I want us to be… uggh,” he groans out reaching up to rub at his chest and your eyebrow furrows even more as you reach up moving his hand before rubbing his chest for him.
“Jay. Just calm down and tell me. It’s okay… you want us to be…” you prompt him to continue on as he seems to calm a little more.
“Okay… uhh… I want us to be more than friends and I know Pogues don’t Mack on Pogues, but I’ve wanted to be so much more with you for years…” he admits hesitation clear as he once again for the second time in the night refuses to look at you and you smile.
“Jayj… look at me please…” you whisper out and hit takes him a moment, but soon he’s doing it.
"It was always you, through everything it was always you Jayj. Nobody else,” you whisper again with a grin growing on your face as you watch him slowly realize exactly what you’d said.
“Wait… really? But wait… what?” He asks in confusion and you giggle.
"I'd always choose you Jayj.” You softly promise and nuzzle into his chest bashfully and he chuckles bringing his hand up to your head to massage at your scalp.
“I’d always choose you too Princess,” JJ promises just as softly as he leaves a kiss to your forehead.
“You missed…” you tell him with a confident grin as you sit up to look at him and he chuckles again shaking his head.
“Oh my bad. Let’s see if I can fix my mistake then,” he jokes right back with his own smile growing.
Before you know it his hand trails from your hair and to your neck, lightly pulling you to him while tilting your head ever so slightly. He moves slowly and treats you so gently making the butterflies erupt even more in your stomach. There’s a thick anticipation that falls over you with how slowly you move closer together, but it’s the kind of anticipation you really don’t want to end. Finally his lips meet yours in a firm yet delicate and maybe a little desperate kiss. You are a little surprised thinking it would have been a little more heated with knowing how JJ is, but the delicacy of which he kisses you proves to you just how much he’s wanted this.
He worries if he makes it anymore heated like he normally does with other girls he’d ruin this whole moment and he really doesn’t want to lose you. You're the most important girl outta all the ones he’s ever been with so if he messes it up he’s scared he might lose you all together. You take a leap and kiss him a little harder, surprising him for the smallest of moments, but he smirks into the kiss before reciprocating it even more. You smile into the now heated kiss as you reach up and wrap your arms around his neck and play with the hair at the nip of his neck making him groan. You then maneuver a little more so now instead of laying side by side you lay on top of him and he squeezes your waist after his hands move from your neck.
Slowly you pull away breaking the kiss almost unwillingly and he chases your lips giving them another peck making you giggle. He then leans his forehead against yours and you grin wide as both of your heavy breaths mingle together.
“Wow…” you whisper, biting your lip and he grins at you.
“Definitely wow. I’ve wanted to do that for a very long time,” he admits and you grin as you use your thumb to trace his lips.
“I know it may be early, but I love you Jayj. You’re my favorite Christmas gift,” you tell him as you scoot down and lay your head on his chest.
“It’s not early at all, princess. I think we’ve loved each other for a while now. We’ve just been too scared to tell each other,” he tells you as he kisses your head and pulls you even closer then before.
“Oh and you're my favorite gift too sweet girl. I love you,” JJ adds on and you sigh happily.
“Merry Christmas Jayj…” you mutter out as tiredness takes over your body.
“Merry Christmas cupcake,” JJ parrots you again, squeezing you a little closer.
Tumblr media
It’s a little while later and JJ smiles when he realizes you’re breathing has evened out meaning you’re happily asleep in his arms. He yawns, but refuses to fall asleep quite yet, just wanting to enjoy having what he thought he never could.
"How long ago did, bug fall asleep?" He hears a whisper making him look up at John B.
“Only a little while ago. She’ll probably sleep in a lot more than the last few years. I thought you went to bed?” JJ whispers not wanting to wake you as you sleep soundly on his chest.
“I did, but I knew you two would come out here and I wanted to check up on the two of you to make sure you're all good before I actually fall asleep,” John B whispers back and JJ smiles a thankful smile at him.
“Thanks man. We’re good,” JJ tells him and John B nods pausing to watch your sleeping face.
“You take care of her, you hear me JJ. You break her and best friends or not I will break you,” John B says in a serious whisper and JJ’s eyes widen for a moment.
“Don’t worry dude. I don’t plan to and if it ever does happen I’d break myself before you even hit the chance,” JJ whispers honestly and John B smiles at his best friend.
“I know, but now that the two of you got wise and got together I still need to make it known. I’m her big brother first and foremost,” John B informs him with a shrug and a happy smile at seeing his sister happy as well as safe and sound in his best friend's arms.
“Goodnight JJ. Sleep well buddy,” John B tells him before turning and starting back to the château.
“Night man. You sleep well too,” JJ tells him in a happy whisper as he nuzzled into your hair.
John B knows without a doubt that JJ is good for his little sister and you are for JJ too. He’s so happy the two of you have finally confessed and made it official. He’s had to watch the two of you pine for one another for years and it was painful sometimes because he cares for both of you so much. First and foremost though as he’d told JJ you are and will always be his first thought. It’s just a big brother thing to protect his little sister.
JJ watches until John B makes it into the château before deciding to hold you close for a little while longer. Before he knows it though your soft, even breathing lulls him into his own slumber and his eyes close, but even in his sleep he holds you close never ever wanting this Christmas to end; the most perfect Christmas ever for the both of you.
The End…

burning, burning
my gift for @pyreneese for this year’s @dnsecretsanta!! five times Light thought about how much he hated L, and one time he didn’t.
Lawlight enemies to lovers! Featuring: hatesex, light’s praise kink, L’s Kira kink, and a good old fashioned rain scene.
rated E, 3k words

1.
“Kill me now, Kira! Do it! Kill me!”
Light gaped at the TV. How dare he taunt Kira! How dare he make Kira look weak!
“So now I know there are people you can’t kill… I really didn’t expect my plan to go so well. Kira, it’s not long until I catch you.”
No. Light was not going to let L catch him. Light was going to catch L first!
L would pay for this trick. Light would find him and Light would stop him! Light would show the world that Kira, not L, was truly justice!
He thought of the dead man, the sacrificial lamb, except lambs were innocent and that man already deserved to die. Lind L. Tailor had been an attractive man, who looked every bit the image of a brilliant detective. How funny, the way appearances could deceive.
Did L know that Kira needed a face to kill? Had he purposefully chosen a stand-in who looked different from him, or had he barely given it a second thought? L’s voice was thoroughly obscured by his distortion, masking any accent that may have given Light a hint about his location or origins. Was he Japanese as well? Or American, perhaps? Was his hair dark and shiny, or blond and sunny, or a fiery red?
Light would find a way to learn the truth. L was cautious, but no security system was without its faults. Light had access to the NPA’s system, and he could hack into Interpol with enough time and practice. He would find the detective’s name and face, and he would finish him. His heart burned with righteous anger.
2.
Light slammed his desk. “Dammit! He played me like a fool!”
He had never imagined that L would just come out and introduce himself like that. He was backed into a corner now. There was no way “Hideki Ryuga” was his real name, and he couldn’t try to kill him without either killing the actor or raising suspicion.
Was that even the real L at all? He looked nothing like what Light had imagined. His only resemblance to Lind L. Tailor was in his hair color. He lacked any of the smoothness, any of the grace that had made Lind L. Tailor look so competent. He looked like a stray cat that someone had picked up off the street and turned into a man. He looked like a sentient pipe cleaner. He looked like the personification of insomnia in a horror manga. He did not look at all like a brilliant detective.
It would be just like L to send a decoy. He’d already tried it once before, after all. But why would he send a decoy so repulsive and so strange? Why wouldn’t he send someone attractive? No, there would be nothing to gain from sending a false L who looked like that. Light could only conclude this was the real detective.
So now he had met his rival face to face. He had looked into the eyes of the man he had to kill. The rage in his chest burned brighter and stronger.
What next? Would L follow him to class? Ask him to study together? Appear at his door? He had to act fast, he had to come up with a plan.
No, it wasn’t enough just to kill L. He had to defeat L, bring him to his knees, make him beg for mercy, only to deny him. He needed the world to know that Kira reigned supreme, that Kira alone served justice. He needed to dominate L through and through.
3.
Light gasped as L slid another finger inside him.
“Relax, Light-kun. You’re doing an excellent job.”
L’s hands moved surely, confident. He had evidently done this many times before. Light hoped his own lack of experience was not equally obvious.
He still hated L. He hated L’s fixation with his supposed guilt, when he knew for a fact that he was innocent. He hated the way L chewed messily and spoke with his mouth full. He hated the way L’s beady eyes never seemed to blink. He hated the stupid way L held paper in his limp wrists.
L’s fingers brushed his prostate and Light let out a pathetic whine.
“Good boy, Light-kun. You’re being so well behaved for me.”
He hated, hated the way L’s smooth voice praised him! It made him shiver, it made him twitch against his will.
He hoped this was enough to prove his innocence. Surely Kira would never have approached L and suggested a sexual encounter. Surely Kira would never have agreed to be penetrated. Kira wanted to be in control, Kira wanted all the power, so why would Kira ever agree to be vulnerable like this?
Kira would not be whimpering and moaning as L stretched him wide open.
With his free hand, L stroked Light’s face. “Still feeling okay?” Light nodded, swallowing another moan. He looked up at L.
“You’re taking my fingers so well. Such a good student, such a good bottom. You’ll be ready for my dick in no time at all.”
“I’m ready now, Ryuzaki!” Yes, yes, this would make him seem even less suspicious. Kira would never blurt out something like that! Kira would remain nonchalant, Kira would remain in control.
L smiled. “Don’t be so impatient, Light-kun. I’m a lot bigger than two fingers.”
He leaned down and planted a kiss on Light’s forehead. How patronizing. Light was perfectly capable of taking a dick up his ass! He didn’t need to be pampered! Light reached up and pulled L’s face back down to his and kissed him, hard, on the mouth.
After a few seconds, L kissed back, tongue probing every crevice of Light’s mouth as his fingers continued to explore Light’s hole. Light felt his body shake against the dual sensations. It wasn’t fair that L was this good at sex as well as being so smart and hot.
Wait, what? L wasn’t hot. He was ugly and weird. He was too pale and his eye bags were too dark and he never -
“Getting distracted, Light-kun?” L’s breath kissed Light’s cheek. “Are you thinking about who you should kill off next?”
“I am not. I am not a murderer, I have never killed anyone in my life!”
“Mmm. If you say so.” L brought his lips back over Light’s before he could think of a retort. Light shut his eyes and did his best to focus on the moment. He had to look like he was enjoying it. He had to focus on being the best bottom L had ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Afterwards, as they cleaned up, he wondered what on earth had come over him.
4.
“Ryuzaki, check this out! Look at how much Yotsuba has grown compared to its competitors.”
L rested his hand on Light’s shoulder, bringing his face in close. Too close. Light could feel his hot, sugary breath on his cheek.
“Light-kun…”
“Are you feeling less depressed now?”
L watched in rapt fascination as Light showed off the list of Yotsuba’s victims. His hand creeped across Light’s shoulder till it spanned to the other side and their faces were nearly touching. Light felt extremely grateful that his dad was not in the building.
“This is excellent work, Light-kun. I’m so proud of you for figuring all of this out.”
Light’s face grew hot. “Thank you, Ryuzaki. I started by looking at all the heart attack victims in recent months, and I noticed the pattern pretty fast.”
“How clever. I dare say your powers of deduction outpace some grown men I’ve worked with before.”
His spine was beginning to tingle traitorously. He had to stay focused on the data.
L’s hand wandered upwards, tangling Light’s hair. Ugh, now he would have to fix it. L had no respect for his morning routine of gelling and styling. Just another reason to hate him. Even if he did think Light was doing a good job, and even if he did know how to hit all of Light’s most sensitive spots. None of that mattered. He still thought Light was a murderer, he was still Light’s biggest enemy.
L stood, tugging Light up by his hair. “Come, let’s share your findings with the rest of the team. Print out your charts.”
Light and L settled in on a sofa opposite Matsuda and Aizawa.
“We have a new lead to investigate. It appears that Kira is connected to the Yotsuba group. I must thank Yagami-kun for his keen eye and investigative diligence. He did a very good job organizing all of this data.”
His stomach ached. He could feel the blood pooling. What twisted game was L playing now?
Light smiled brightly. “Of course, Ryuzaki!”
“We will have to be very careful moving forwards. Even without Kira, Yotsuba is highly powerful and dangerous. But I have no doubt that Yagami-kun and his sharp mind will be able to help me with overcoming their defenses. He really is quite clever.”
Light crossed his legs cautiously. Surely the others had noticed how oddly Ryuzaki was speaking. He could not let them guess the effect it was having.
Aizawa nodded. “I understand. I can look into how Yotsuba is organized.”
“Excellent. Yagami-kun, do you believe you could hack into Yotsuba’s computer system? It is my impression that you are also very talented when it comes to computers.”
“Yeah, I can try my best!” It was becoming unbearable. What more could L possibly have to say?
“Let’s get to work. Yagami-san will be back soon.”
Light stood a bit too eagerly, the chain growing taut for a moment before L caught up. He absolutely had to stay ahead of the others.
As they peeled away from Aizawa, Light asked, “Ryuzaki, could I stop by the bathroom?”
“Of course, Light-kun.” It was a short walk. As Light reached for the doorknob, L added, “I really am impressed with your hard work on this case. You’ve done a very, very good job.”
His hand brushed Light’s lower back and Light yelped and turned around. “What are you playing at, Ryuzaki? Why sing my praises to the rest of the Task Force?”
L leaned in, brushing a wet fingertip across Light’s chin. “I simply think it’s important to make sure Light-kun knows he’s being a good boy.”
Light’s face burned brighter than ever. He stumbled backwards, scrabbling for the handle. He needed to get away from L, right now.
“What seems to be the matter, Light-kun? Is there something I could do to help improve your focus?”
Light slammed the door open, stumbling further. “Do whatever you want. You’re the boss.”
He leaned back against the cold, hard bathroom wall as L’s fingers worked his fly open. What was the matter with him? Why did he care if L thought he was doing a good job? He hated L. He hated the way the detective’s words squirmed into his brain.
He hated how good L’s mouth felt around his cock.
5.
For a man who had spent the past two months pounding Light into the mattress, L was a shockingly eager bottom. Light had him naked and pinned to the bed in minutes.
It felt good to be in control. It felt good to have his mind and body realigned. It felt good to finally get retribution for all those nights he’d let L make a fool out of him in bed.
He hadn’t even taken his clothes off, and already L was hard. Light smirked. “So you spend all that time in charge, and all you really want is for someone else to tell you what to do?”
“It’s a nice change of pace, yes.”
Light glared. “Did I ask for you to respond?” He shoved L’s wrists harder against the bed.
“You asked a direct question, so I simply assumed-”
“Stop it. I should’ve known you’d be such a brat.”
L obliged, puffing out his cheeks to show how closed his mouth was. His cock twitched against Light’s pants.
“If you can’t control yourself, I guess I’ll just have to shut you up.” Light released L’s hands and moved to unzip his pants.
“Can I-”
“No.” Light freed his cock, let it hang above L. He watched his huge dark eyes travel up and down the shaft. His first time viewing from this angle. “Open wide.”
Light’s cock fit perfectly into L’s mouth, as always. L instinctively began to suck, began to roll his tongue around on the head, and for a moment Light forgot himself.
All that cherry stem tying had certainly paid off.
Light was not here to let L take over again. Light was here to put L in his place. He began thrusting deep into L’s throat, pounding out some soft whimpers.
“You like that, huh? You like how it feels to be totally at my mercy?”
L mumbled something completely incoherent. Light ignored him and sped up. It felt good to be using L, to be the one setting the pace. L’s mouth was a vessel for Light’s arousal, his tongue just a toy to rut against. He may as well have been a mindless doll for all Light cared.
Finally, Light reached his peak. His cock twitched, spilling down L’s throat. He grabbed L’s hair, kept his face fixed firmly in place, high on the euphoria of control. It didn’t matter whether L wanted to swallow. Light was giving him no choice.
L swallowed eagerly, cleaning Light’s tip with his tongue. As Light pulled back, he murmured, “You taste good, Kira.”
Light started. He wanted to be mad, he wanted to punish L, but he felt his breath catch in his throat, his spine beginning to tingle. He glanced down L’s body, confirming his suspicions.
He rested his hand around L’s neck. “What was that?”
L blinked up at him, eyes wide and innocent. “I said, you taste good, Kira.”
Light applied a gentle pleasure. “All this time, and you still think so lowly of me? You still think I can kill?”
“I don’t just think so, I know it. I am 100% certain that you were the first Kira, and what’s more, that you are again.”
“Really.” He rubbed a leg against L’s erection, eliciting a delicious whimper. “And yet you’ve given me total control. Do you like being in danger, Ryuzaki?”
“It certainly makes things more interesting.”
Light pressed harder. “Are there still no cameras in this room?”
“That’s correct.”
“I could kill you here, right now, and no one would ever know. I could kill you and take the Death Note and no one could stop me. How does that make you feel, Ryuzaki?”
L’s cock twitched against Light’s leg. He needed to take his pants off to feel it fully, but he couldn’t stop now.
“L,” he gasped. “Call me L.”
“Answer the question, L.”
L closed his eyes, struggling for breath against Light’s hand. Light pushed even harder. He felt his erection already starting to return, much, much faster than it ever had before.
“I feel… extremely pleased, Kira.”
6.
“What are you doing, Ryuzaki?” Light held up his hand in an attempt to keep the rain off his face. He felt his shirt growing saturated and heavy.
“Oh, nothing in particular. It’s just… the sound of the bell has been awfully loud today.” L glanced off into the distance. Light could see nothing through the layers of rain, and he couldn’t hear any bells at all.
“I don’t hear anything.”
“Really? You can’t hear it? It’s been ringing non-stop all day. I find it very distracting. I wonder if it’s a church. Maybe a wedding, or perhaps a…” He trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid.
A wedding. Something L would never live to see, if Light got his way. The next time L entered a church, it would be in a casket.
A heart attack wouldn’t leave lasting marks on his face. He would look as though he was simply sleeping, though he never slept that long. Light imagined what it would be like to look down upon his corpse, to feel victory singing through his veins.
He had been fighting for this moment for so long. He was so close, he could practically taste it.
And his mind began to wander. His vision of L’s corpse was replaced by L’s naked body stretched out below him, L moaning Kira! over and over as Light fucked him. L lying there, exhausted, gasping for breath. L smiling up at Light, watching him leave without a goodbye.
Light could see the bruises around his neck, peeking out from his collar. The mortician would cover them with concealer, he was sure.
Would his eyebags be allowed to remain on his corpse? Or would those be brushed away as well? He imagined L with clear skin and shuddered. It was wrong.
What was he thinking? He had spent the past year on this journey, and now he was at victory’s doorstep.
L spoke. “Tell me, Light, from the moment you were born, has there ever been a point where you’ve actually told the truth?”
The rain roared against the roof. It cast a curtain over L’s face. One might even say a funeral shroud.
Light hesitated, looked away. Thought of a million ways to report. No one is honest all the time, of course. Everyone lies. Maybe Light lied more than others, but always in self defense.
That wasn’t what L meant. They both knew that.
L’s body collapsing to the floor. The life draining from his eyes. L’s body in a casket. A headstone - what would the name say?
L falling to his knees. L writhing in pleasure. L begging Light to hurt him more.
“This is excellent work, Light-kun. I’m so proud of you for figuring all of this out.”
L’s casual touches, hand on his shoulder, hand on his thigh. L’s breath in his ear. The warmth of L’s body in their shared bed.
Light looked up. Met L’s eyes. Stepped closer, moved his hand from his face, rain be damned, to cup L’s chin.
L had fucked Light until he was completely drained, hardly able to move, staggering around the next day. Light had strangled L till he was wheezing, gasping, practically dead already. They had taken each other’s flesh between their teeth. They had dashed their tongues together like a ship wrecking itself on a rocky shore.
They had never shared a gentle kiss.
L tasted like sugar and strawberries.
“Of course I’ve lied. I’m a liar just like you.” He stared into L’s eyes. “That’s why you love me more than you fear me. And that’s why I love you more than winning this game.”

The first time you think of confessing your feelings to Choi Sumin, is also the first time you realize you have them in the first place.
November had finally camouflaged into December, snow beginning to stick to the ground outside. It’s your favorite time of the year and Sumin knows this. Why wouldn’t he? As your best friend it only made sense that he knew you like the back of his hand. He knew how you liked your coffee in the morning and that you preferred sleeping on the right side of the bed, among other things.
This is why he suggests decorating your apartment together.
You have ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ playing in the background as you stand on a step stool, hanging garland on the perimeter of your living room ceiling. Sumin has his hands on your waist, assuring that he doesn’t let you fall. As funny as it would be, he’s also a big softie and couldn’t imagine letting you get hurt.
“How does it look?” You ask, tilting your head back to see if you can get a better view.
“Good. Professional almost— woah, be careful.  Don’t lean too much.” He tightens his grip on you.
“You’re such a dad.” You roll your eyes playfully. Sumin scoffs, but doesn’t retort back. You adjust your stance on the step ladder, going onto your tippy toes to reach one of the lights on the corner strand.
He tries to ignore how your hips shift beneath his fingertips, how easy it would be to slip them under your sweatshirt. His eyes squeeze shut as he attempts to will away the forbidden thoughts threatening to plague his mind. He’s so preoccupied with wiping his brain, that he doesn’t even realize you’re wobbling a little.
Everything happens so quickly; the step stool giving out from your feet, your body falling backward, his arms flying out to catch you with his life. Sumin had never been so good with hand-eye coordination, and he thinks he deserves an award with how valiant his rescue was.
He holds you firmly, examining your face for any indication you might’ve been injured. Instead he’s met with wide eyes and parted lips, his cheeks blushing at the proximity between the two of you. This is the moment that it hits you— the moment that your heart registers that it beats for Choi Sumin. Your gaze traces the outline of his plush lips, so tempted to lean in and press your own to them.
You open your mouth to say something, when suddenly he’s standing you upright and stepping away from you. He wipes his clammy palms on your shoulders, steadying both you and himself. He thinks this is the universe’s way of punishing him for his earlier thoughts. He scratches the back of his neck awkwardly, laughing in the same manner.
“Are you— um— are you okay?” Sumin fumbles over his words, eyes looking everywhere but at you.
“‘M fine. Thanks for catching me.” You try your best to hide the disappointment in your tone. It’s not like he knew how you felt, so you couldn’t really blame him. Neither of you were at fault here.
That didn’t mean you didn’t feel slightly discouraged though. If Sumin freaked out just by being so close to you, you couldn’t fathom how he’d react to hearing a confession. You clear your throat to, hopefully, cut through some of the tension in the air.
“Should— should I order dinner?” Your fingers come up to tuck some hair behind your ear, anything to distract from the horrible atmosphere. You don’t like this one bit.
“Uh… yeah! Yeah, that would be great. I’m okay with whatever you want.” He turns around and busies himself with the tree. You agreed on doing ornaments last, so he starts to slowly open up the branches. He hopes you can’t see the crimson shade spreading across the tips of his ears.
“O-Okay… I’ll go do that then…” Your voice sounds far away from you. You avoid thinking about the pain blooming in the center of your chest, deep and sharp. You shouldn’t be upset.
Tumblr media
The second time you think of confessing your feelings to Sumin is halfway to Christmas.
Your friend Minjae and his girlfriend invited the two of you to go look at the lights downtown. Out of your friend group, Minjae was the only one with a significant other. Because you and Sumin were so close, along with the fact that you were the only other girl, you were the best pairing option to join them.
Going downtown to see the Christmas lights was something you looked forward to every year since you were little. It was a tradition you had with your family up until you got older. Then Sumin and yourself adopted it as your own. Thankfully there would be others around this time. You aren’t sure you could handle being alone with him without your heart giving out. Forget Valentine’s Day, Christmastime was truly the season of love.
“I always love strolling around Han River and looking at the lights on the trees,” Minjae’s girlfriend says, nose resembling Rudolph’s due to the cold air. “I’m so glad that you like it too, Y/N!”
You smile at her and the way Minjae wraps her scarf just a bit more snugly as she talks. Their relationship was one you, dare you say, idolized. It’s not that they were the perfect couple, it’s that they loved each other so unconditionally. Minjae didn’t mind the teasing he got from the other boys for being ‘whipped’. They had a special connection that shined through even when they were just friends. It’s something you wished to experience yourself.
The two walk a few feet ahead of you and Sumin, arms linked together. Part of you wanted to do the same with your best friend, to lean onto his shoulder and huddle closely for some semblance of warmth. Your hands sway side by side, just inches apart. If you extended your pinkie just slightly, it would touch his. Oh, how nice it would be to do such an intimate gesture.
You risk a sideways glance at Sumin, your heart skipping when you see how pretty he looks under the tree lights. The off-white bulbs reflect off of his cheeks and make his eyes sparkle, sending your emotions into a frenzy.
The longer you walk next to him and the longer you gaze at him like a lovesick puppy, the more you realize how far into this infatuation you’ve gotten. What started as something small, triggered by something so menial, has grown exponentially. You’re honestly not sure that there was a chance of returning from this.
When you put your friendship into perspective, you noticed a lot of red flags. For one, you did quite a few things that didn’t exactly scream platonic. Friends don’t cuddle during movie nights with all your other friends. Friends don’t think about each other in the forbidden ways you do at 2 AM. Friends don’t freak out over the potential end of said friendship.
It’s so painful. Standing here in the middle of December at Han River. You’ve long forgotten about your purpose for being here. Long forgotten about the pretty lights you’d been gushing about since you were a kid. All that matters to you is the boy in front of you.
It hurts because of the uncertainty of what could come out of a confession. What if he hated you and wanted nothing to do with you? It was scary when you thought too hard about it. You’ve known Sumin through so many goods and bads, and shared many laughs. You know all of his favorite songs, and you’ve never missed a phone call. You want nothing more than to be the reason he smiles.
Santa, if you’re listening… Please make this Christmas one I won’t forget…

The next time you think of admitting your feelings for your best friend/roommate, is during your Friendsmas gathering on Christmas Eve.
Usually, the event was held at Minjae’s house, since it was bigger. Him and his girlfriend loved hosting the circus that was your friend group. However, this year, you and Sumin volunteered your apartment for the festivities. It was your first year living together and you wanted it to be memorable.
“The decorations are so cute!” Minjae’s girlfriend gushes, eyes wandering around the living room in awe at what you and Sumin managed to achieve. “The garland around the ceiling perimeter is such a nice touch. Did it take long?”
You think back to a couple weeks ago, when you were decorating. Things would’ve gone on without a hitch had you not fallen off the step ladder. You also wouldn’t be dealing with inner turmoil every time you looked at your roommate/best friend. You glance over at him, chatting it up with Minjae and Junmin, and your heart aches a little. “Not long at all…”
She purses her lips, taking your hand and dragging you off to the balcony. You give her a confused look, raising an eyebrow in question. She sighs, resting her arms on the railing and looking out into the parking lot. “You have feelings for him. Don’t you?”
You blink.
It couldn’t have been that obvious right? I mean, you only just recently realized you were in love with liked him in that way. How could anyone already notice the signs or the lovelorn gloss in your stare? Your silence and lack of immediate reaction, however, gives away the truth, so you know that you can’t refute.
“How did you know?” You ask, picking at a thread on your red sweater dress. Minjae’s girlfriend coos, like an older, wiser, sisterly figure who’s been waiting for the opportunity to bring out her life advice.
“I’ve had a hunch for a while now,” she smiles softly. “But I think my suspicion stems from personal experience, mostly. Because I know when Minjae and I were ‘just friends’, we acted very similarly. And you were a bit quiet when we went to see the lights. I figured it had to be that, or you’d gotten into a fight, which seemed unlikely.”
“I don’t even know if he feels the same,” you nip at the inside of your lip. “There was an incident when we were decorating the apartment and we haven’t spoken about it since it happened. I think he’s pretending that it didn’t.”
“What happened?” She presses, now squared off to you.
“I almost fell off the step stool and he caught me and it was really romantic and that’s when I realized that maybe I’ve been harboring feelings for him all this time but before I could even think about my next action, he pulled away.” You talk quickly, like you were on a time crunch. Minjae’s girlfriend follows along with your story as best she can, nodding every couple of words so you knew she understood what you were saying, despite the whole thing being one big run on sentence.
“Oh wow,” she cringes. “In my humble opinion, I think he’s just… emotionally constipated. He’s… Sumin… you know? He’s not used to these kinds of things. Sometimes when we’re scared of something new, we seek comfortability. Maybe he’s afraid of the change.”
She had a very valid, very strong point. Choi Sumin had never boded well with change. For example; when he was a junior in high school, his Physics teacher had left halfway through the school year for family reasons and he failed the class even though he had an A before that. Luckily, you failed your Pre Calculus class, so both of you got to take summer school together. There was a real chance that Minjae’s girlfriend was on the right track.
“I think you’re right,” you sigh, leaning back against the railing and watching the ten chaotic boys inside of your apartment. “I should wait for him to come to me.”
“You should, but,” she grins, like she knew something you didn’t. “That doesn’t mean I don’t plan on meddling just a little.”
Though ominous in her tone, you knew she meant no harm. So you’d let her do her thing, even if you were slightly unnerved. The two of you head back in to join everyone in the living room. You shoot Sumin a small smile from the opposite sofa, sandwiched between Yechan and Yujun. He mirrors your expression from his spot on the floor in front of Jinsik.
The rest of the night goes smoothly. You play some games like Uno and a heated few rounds of Charades, the competition amongst your friends going crazy. All of you agreed on doing a Secret Santa exchange, since buying each member of your group a gift was pricey. (After all, you were twelve people deep.) Whether it was luck, or the universe loved to laugh at your expense, you drew Sumin’s name. There was a thirty dollar price limit on gifts, but you knew he’d wanted this oil paint set for a while. (The price could remain a secret to everyone else.)
It was hilarious, really, that Sumin drew your name.
The exchanging portion of the night was also uneventful. No one was that shocked to find out you and your best friend had gotten each other except for, well, you and your best friend. You didn’t open your gifts until your friends had all left, feeling like your personal biases were too strong to deny.
You also decided to open them separately from the other. So when you unwrapped yours to find the prettiest necklace you’d ever seen with your initial as a charm, you almost cried like a baby. It was definitely out of the thirty dollar price limit, but you couldn’t dare complain.
This was when you thought maybe it was the right time to confess and get everything off of your chest.
But then Minjae’s girlfriend’s advice rings in your ears and you hold back. You had to wait for him to come to you.
Tumblr media
The fourth, and final, time you and Sumin want to confess to each other, is on Christmas morning.
You woke up earlier than he did and thought it might be nice to surprise him with breakfast. You’d exchanged gifts the night before, so today would be a relaxed day. At least, you hoped it would, what with all the insane tension and stepping on eggshells around each other.
Despite not being that great at cooking, you still knew how to whip up some basic things. Most, if not all, of them were Sumin’s favorites. You’d decided to make him some French toast with fresh fruit. Thankfully, you had everything you needed, so it would be easy to just start now.
The smell that filled the air following each sizzle on the griddle had your mouth watering. If he wasn’t convinced that you were wife material after this, he was a lost cause. Hell, if he didn’t think you were girlfriend material after this, you just might rip your hair out.
Over this past month, you’d given yourself plenty of time to reminisce over your feelings for your best friend. Upon the realization that you had them, you wondered what made him so special, what set him apart from the rest. The answer was simple; he was Sumin.
Sure, he was goofy and he never really did things the conventional way. He was too stubborn for his own good and he wouldn’t be caught dead showing affection to anyone but his mother. But despite that, he always wore his heart on his sleeve and allowed himself to be trampled over when he didn’t deserve it. He was a little messy and left cookie trays on the stove after he used the oven. He somehow managed to leave a single water cup in the sink every time. He fell asleep on the couch often and sometimes forgot to lock the front door.
Above all of that, he was the best thing that had ever happened to you. He knew exactly when you needed a good laugh, the kind that had you hunching over and clutching your stomach. He showed you that he appreciated you in the ways that he could, without overstepping any boundaries. He did your laundry for you on occasion, even when you didn’t ask him to. He always seemed to know when you were running low on facial cleanser or moisturizer, setting a new one in the midst of your things. If you were out for the night, he waited in the living room until he was sure you were home safe.
He wasn’t like every other guy out in the universe, but that’s what made him so special, what set him apart from the rest. That was why you fell so hard and so fast. Choi Sumin would forever be the person your heart continued to beat for, even if he didn’t feel the same.
You didn’t even realize you’d finished making around half a loaf of bread, far too absorbed in your thoughts. You plate them on your nicer, china plates and dust some powdered sugar on top. After slicing a few strawberries, you set everything on the breakfast bar.
It actually looks like a scene straight from a movie. Had you and Sumin been a real couple, and not just a couple of besties, this would be the perfect Christmas. But a girl could only dream, you suppose.
Lost inside of your mind again while stirring some cream into your coffee, you don’t hear the creak of Sumin’s bedroom door. He stumbles into the kitchen with a yawn, cheeks puffy. His eyes are bleary, taking a moment to focus on the sight of you blowing away the steam coming up from your mug. He spots the French toast not much later, his heart swelling.
“Morning,” he rasps, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his hands.
You jump, startled by the sudden voice. “Good morning. I— uh— I made breakfast.”
“I see that,” he smiles, sitting on the stool beside you. “Smells yummy.”
You eat in silence as he pours himself some orange juice. It’s weird. Silence. It’s not a common occurrence between the two of you, given the fact that you’d been as close as you have for almost a decade now. You were both the type to talk for ages without getting bored of the other.
“So—”
“How—”
You both start speaking at the same time, laughing together at the silly coincidence. Sumin looks adorable with his mouth full of French toast. You look like something straight out of a Christmas catalog. He swallows his food, holding his fist to his mouth.
“You go first.” He nods.
“I was just gonna ask if you liked your gifts from your parents,” you say, shifting your attention to the suddenly very interesting three-quarters-empty mug of coffee. “Your mom called me for my opinion when she was buying the headphones.”
Sumin thinks he might burst into tears over his barely finished plate of breakfast. His mother was the only woman in his life that had yet to fail him. She’s the only one he’d ever allowed into his heart for so long. And then you came along and changed all of that. You became someone he could lean on, someone he could depend on when he thought life was caving in on him. It made him so happy knowing that you had a good relationship with his mom. His two favorite ladies.
He doesn’t answer you, instead grabbing your face and pulling you to him. He connects your lips in a sweet kiss, one that communicates everything he’s been trying to say for days, weeks, months, years. It’s unplanned, it’s a little messy, and it’s kind of desperate, but it’s perfect.
You part for air, resting your forehead on his as he chases your kiss. A giggle bubbles past your throat. “A bit eager now, are we?”
“I have wanted to do that for so long,” he sighs, eyes closed, nose brushing yours. “You have no idea.”
“What about—” You stamp another kiss on the corner of his mouth, then another on the center, and you punctuate each word with more. “—Less talking? More kissing?”
“I really like the sound of that,” he whispers, reciprocating. His kisses trail from your mouth to your ear, lighting fire beneath your skin. Everywhere his lips touch, you ache for more.
When you and Sumin became friends, this was never on your list of things that could possibly happen in the future. You never thought you’d be making out with him in your shared kitchen on Christmas morning. Or at all, for that matter. This was entirely out of your realm of possibilities.
It’s just too easy to fall into his kiss and the way his lips taste so sweet on yours. There’s a hint of syrup and powdered sugar that makes it so much more addicting. You think you could make French toast for breakfast every day if it meant he tasted this enticing.
Sumin steps off the stool and slots himself between your legs, not breaking away from you for a second. His hands rub up and down the sides of your thighs, fingers slipping under your shirt just like he wanted that day you were decorating. Had he gotten his shot together at the beginning of the month, he could’ve been doing this so long ago.
“I want more, Sumin,” you murmured against his lips. Now that he made the first move, you’re definitely willing to take what you’ve been wanting and waiting for. He parts from you slightly, noses brushing.
“Are you sure?” Deep down, he’s still scared that changing everything about your dynamic means there’s a chance he could lose you.
Your hand comes up to cup his cheek, thumb caressing his skin gently. You stare at him with the utmost adoration, as if he personally placed each star in the sky. Sumin thinks he could die the happiest man ever right now, slipping under the spell that is your sparkly eyes.
“I’ve never been more sure about something in my life.” Your voice is just above a whisper, but it’s enough to assure him. He smiles at you softly, pressing his lips to yours once again.
Sumin grabs at the hem of your shirt, pulling it off of you carefully. He kisses all over your neck and chest, nipping and sucking wherever he pleases. Your whines fuel his desperation, encouraging his confidence. He helps you onto the counter, trailing his lips down your body to the waistband of your pajama pants.
His eyes gaze up at yours, mouth glued to your lower stomach as his fingers make quick work of the bow. He drags them down your legs, faster than your top, until you’re left in nothing except your undergarments. He reaches behind you for something and your eyebrows knit together.
When he produces the can of whipped cream from your breakfast, you feel the fire beneath your skin burning heavier. He pushes down on the nozzle, a line of whipped cream connecting the band of your bra to your panties. Sumin makes eye contact with you once more to ensure that this is still okay. With your lip between your teeth and your elbows propping you up, he has his answer.
At what feels like the most agonizingly slowest pace, Sumin licks the whipped cream from your skin. He kisses and suckles at the surface as he does so, making sure to not leave a bit of the confectionery behind.
A gasp escapes you when his fingers hook into the waistband of your panties, mouth still exploring the plane of your lower stomach. He peels them away from your body, not wasting a second the moment your cunt is bared to him. His lips envelope your clit, thumb circling your entrance. Your head tilts back, your sighs of pleasure transforming into moans.
The way he’s teasing you inches you closer and closer to your release, but not enough to push you over entirely. The tip of his finger slides in, but then slides right back out, not giving you much of anything to work with. You whine when his tongue laps at your clit. It feels so good, but it’s not what you need. You’re itching for more.
Sumin can tell you’re getting antsy because you keep wriggling around in his hold. He halts his motions. “More?”
You nod frantically. “Please?”
Two of Sumin’s fingers slip inside of you with ease, grazing that sweet spot at the crook of your pussy. A moan forces itself from your chest, nails digging into your palms to keep yourself grounded. He grins to himself before attaching to your clit again. The bundle of nerves is extremely sensitive now, speeding up the process.
“You’re so cute,” he mumbles into your lower lips, still consuming you as if you were his last meal.
All you can do is let out a strangled groan, eyes squeezed shut. His mouth is on your neck once more, and his fingers are swiping side to side on your clit, bursting through the dam containing your bliss. It feels like your whole body has deflated, losing all your strength from supporting your own weight.
You’re spent, but you need him unlike you’ve ever needed something in your life. Hopefully he’s good at reading you, because all that you can manage to do is communicate that through your pleading eyes. Sumin purses his lips, placing a small kiss at the tip of your nose. Your head chases after him, a pout finding its way onto your face when it doesn’t receive what it wants.
“Baby, are you sure you can give me another?” He asks you politely, respectfully. You sit up and cup either side of his head as you do so.
“I have to. I wanna feel you, all of you,” is your reply. Your foot nudges at the band of his sweatpants, batting your eyelashes at him as seductively as you can. He laughs, a soft laugh that tells you he isn’t making fun of you, but rather, he’s endeared by your actions.
Sumin kisses you like drizzling honey on a warm croissant, something so sweet and comforting. You aid him as best as you can in removing his clothes. Just as you reach out to stroke his cock, he takes your wrist into his hand gently. “I don’t have any protection, though.”
“It’s okay,” you shake your head, leaving a peck on his cheek. “I trust you. With every part of myself.”
His lips are on yours again as he aligns himself with your entrance. The second he slips in, he feels like he’s on another planet. Your pussy is so inviting, so snug around his dick. It’s like you were made for him, sucking him in with each thrust of his hips. His forehead falls to your shoulder, a hiss reaching your ears when he finally bottoms out.
“Fuck,” he whispers, grip tight on your hips.
Your legs wrap around his waist, palms flat on the counter beneath you. Slowly, building up to a pace that’s suitable for both of you, he begins to rock into you. His hold on your sides is enough to make you meet him halfway.
“You feel so good, Sumin,” you moan, head falling backward so your throat is on display for him.
He groans into your skin, loving the sound of your voice while he’s inside of you. It’s the loveliest thing he’s ever heard. This is all he could ever need. You. This apartment. Endless days of just having you in his arms, whether it was like this or in a wholesome manner, he didn’t mind either.
Sumin increases the intensity of his movements when he suspects you’re getting close again, feeling that familiar pulse of your walls. His thumb finds your swollen clit again, circling it with the tiniest amount of pressure. He smiles to himself when you tighten around him, knowing that he’s giving it to you good, the way you deserve.
He knows there isn’t really a difference between fucking someone and making love to him, as they are essentially the same thing. But making love to someone requires emotion. Some very strong ones at that. And luckily, he had those emotions for you. He wanted to ensure that you felt every single one translated into what he was giving you. He wanted to give you tender love and care.
Your volume increases, growing higher in pitch the nearer you are to your climax. He kisses you passionately, a lot like that first one you shared, and that’s what brings you to that euphoric waterfall. Your release washes over you in waves, as if you really were at the bottom of cascading water.
Sumin works you through your orgasm, pulling out once you’re revived. You take his cock into your hand, pumping it so he could finish on your lower belly. His eyes flutter shut momentarily, breathing deeply before he helps you off the counter and cleans you up gently. He kisses the crown of your head, pulling you into him for a warm embrace. (The warmest embrace you’ve ever had in your life.)
“We kinda have to— um— we have to talk about this don’t we?” Out of nowhere, he’s shy, almost like he hadn’t just fucked you on your kitchen counter.
“I think you’re overthinking things, Sumin. I mean, we have feelings for each other. That’s really all there is to it,” you say into his chest. “We don’t have to make things extremely complicated for no reason. I love you, you love me.”
“It’s not that I just love you,” he shakes his head. “I’ve been in love with you since senior year. We were getting older and I realized that the fear of losing you to adulthood wasn’t just because I was afraid of you and I drifting apart. It was also because I didn’t want to lose you. I was scared of you meeting new people and forgetting me when I was the one there for you for so long. And fuck, you deserve better than a spontaneous confession after I just defiled you where we eat every day. You deserve fireworks and flowers, you deserve this big grand gesture in a fancy restaurant where hundreds of people can see how special you are. You deserve something surprising.”
You feel tears well in your eyes, your heart just about growing in size. Even if it wasn’t conventionally perfect, it was everything you wanted to hear. Then again, conventionality was never Choi Sumin’s thing, so you never expected anything less.
His mouth parts when he sees that you're crying, scrambling to figure out what he did wrong. You dismiss his worries, wiping away stray tears quickly. At the same time, you notice something on the ceiling, scoffing to yourself. Minjae’s girlfriend really was something else.
You point up. “How’s that for surprising?”
He can’t help but laugh at the mistletoe hung right above you, completely inconspicuous this entire time. He closes the gap between you with a quirk of his lip. “Guess we gotta follow tradition. I heard it’s bad luck if you don’t kiss underneath the mistletoe.”
“Did you now?” You tease, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“Yup, and I’m pretty sure it’s generational. Plus, we have an entire day ahead of us, so I think we should continue what we started.” His face is so close to your own as he says this. You giggle.
When your lips meet again, it’s like all is right in the world. Everything melted away and became background noise, like time had stopped specifically for this moment. The moment where it was just you and Sumin.
This was better than any other gift you could’ve gotten under the tree. Thanks, Santa.

#sorry im thinking abt death again#because it's weird to think that ive been in the room. maybe a meter away from someone as they died#that someone being my mom. its just weird. the time in the hospital feels like it happened in some dark little pocket universe detached from#time. a calm room and then the soft blips of a monitor then the nurse rushing in to say she'd passed#i dont kno y ppl use that phrase: passed on. i mean i do. it softens the topic. makes it sound peaceful. ive yet to use it. i just say she#died bc thats what happened. is that insensitive? i dunno. when i was home i realized that i come off as much stranger than i think. the way#my family see me doesnt fit how i see myself. i dont kno what to do with that. i dunno. theyre all together today#for an early easter. and im halfway across the country again. nose so stuffy ive had to mouth breathe for the last 3 days#and again. everything feels the same as it did before but also profoundly different. sometimes i cry in the mornings. or when i think abt#future vacations she wont be there for. bc in the end she quickly slipped away in a way that couldn't be described as peaceful until her#last half a day. and all i can think about in that tiny room is how scary it would be to lose control like that#and how its not fair and she didnt deserve to die only halfway through a lifetime. but its not about fair and its not about deserving.#sometimes bad things just happen. that's life. and now i own a book called motherless daughters. and now im standing with the countless#others who've lost their moms too early. ive already become aware of 3 ppl in my daily life who are in the same club#i keep thinking about this moment that happened between my parents at the hospital. apparently my dad was helping her get cleaned up and her#stomach was so bloated she looked like she had a bby in there. which my dad said. and my mom apparently said: but it's a baby no one want. i#dont kno y that upsets me so much. all the things i heard abt her being in the hospital before i got there upset me. and the rest of my#family was there to see it. so i have the least traumatic version of the story. and i got almost 27 years with her. except my sisters#probably got more time with her bc i spent so much time away. or maybe not. i dunno.#i dunno. im just sad that shes gone and sad that it was drawn out even a little bit. 6 days isnt long but im sure it felt like an eternity.#again not fair. nothings fair. 53 years of unfairness culminating in a tragedy. she would hate me characterizing it like that. she lived a#full life as they say. full with an asterisk on account of length#unrelated
