If Plan Dalet was a settler-colonial script for the destruction of Palestine from 1948 onwards, it was preceded by – and had its conditions of existence in – the imperialist vision of an entity imposed on the land of Palestine for the protection of the interests of the core: access to raw materials and markets, prevention of subversive projects, buffer zones and counterweights against more distant rivals. In 1840, it was cotton, Muhammed Ali and Tsarist Russia. 127 years later, when the occupation was completed, it was petroleum, third world liberation and the Soviet Union. We are dealing here with an exceedingly deep structure, not an event or two; a ratcheting up and escalation across two centuries, a worsening and intensification of patterns first developed in the early nineteenth – also, not coincidentally, the temporal form of global warming itself. I have pointed very quickly and superficially to three further pivotal moments of articulation. In 1917 and after, the British occupation of Palestine was part of the transformation of the Middle East into a foundation for fossil capital, by dint of its oil resources. In 1947 and after, Western support for the new Zionist state was informed by the consummation of that order; in 1967 and after, by its defence. The steps along the way to the destruction of Palestine were simultaneously steps along the way to that of the Earth.
[...]
The destruction of Gaza is executed by tanks and fighter jets pouring out their projectiles over the land: the Merkavas and the F-16s sending their hellfire over the Palestinians, the rockets and bombs that turn everything into rubble – but only after the explosive force of fossil fuel combustion has put them on the right trajectory. All these military vehicles run on petroleum. So do the supply flights from the US, the Boeings that ferry the missiles over the permanent airbridge. An early, provisional, conservative analysis found that emissions caused during the first 60 days of the war equalled annual emissions of between 20 and 33 low-emitting countries: a sudden spike, a plume of CO2 rising over the debris of Gaza. If I repeat the point here, it is because the cycle is self-repeating, only growing in scale and size: Western forces pulverise the living quarters of Palestine by mobilising the boundless capacity for destruction only fossil fuels can give.

"If there is any country where the 'clash of civilizations' has become an official ideology that also comes close to permeating the entire society, it is certainly Israel. 'We still live in a modern and prosperous villa in the middle of the jungle,' declared former Prime Minister Ehud Barak in 1996, when he was still minister of foreign affairs. This image is a perfect reflection of how Israelis view themselves in the heart of the Arab and Muslim world, as an outpost of civilization in the midst of a barbarous world whose only aim is the destruction of civilization and against which an unlimited preventive war is a matter of life and death. For the various neoconservative governments that have ruled in Jerusalem, the preventive war is a war for survival. As such, it can have no limits—in terms of time but also in terms of means. The distinguishing feature of 'civilization wars' and other crusades is the way they view the adversary—including civilians, of course—as a target to eradicate, or at least to utterly neutralize. It’s 'them or us.' The war of destruction Israel has waged against Palestine since 2000—but planned and prepared two years earlier—is the archetype of such new wars. Its bloody brutality is not 'collateral' but intrinsic to its nature as a 'civilization war,' as are the destruction of Iraq and the more than 100,000 deaths resulting from the U.S. occupation.
Throughout the Thirty-Three-Day War against Lebanon, Israeli leaders, as well as the country’s journalists and experts, spoke about 'cultures' and a basic incompatibility between 'us'—Israelis, but also Civilization with a capital C, which is assumed to be Judeo-Christian—and 'them.' This involves an utterly contradictory line of argument, incidentally. On the one hand 'those people don’t care if they die' or if they sustain casualties, whereas on the other hand the aim of the war and the massive destruction was to 'teach them once and for all' what it would cost them to dare to attack Israel. The Middle East is a central, priority objective in Washington’s unlimited, preventive global war. In consequence, Israel’s military role is more indispensable than ever before. For the Jewish state, it was a matter of both taming and 'pacifying' rebellious peoples and of terrorizing others, so they would never dream of escaping U.S. hegemony or countering Israel’s own aims. The martyrdom of Gaza and the deliberate destruction of Lebanon are both aspects of this 'pacification' and terror policy." In a first, sea-level rise drove a cactus to extinction in U.S. (Washington Post)
They once stood sentinel near the edge of the ocean. Giant columns of green studded in spikes, adorned with garlic-scented flowers and decked with woolly hair so thick it looked like snow had somehow accumulated in the subtropical heat.
Now scientists believe the Key Largo tree cactus, which grew in the Florida Keys, is the first plant of its kind to go extinct in the wild in the United States due in part to sea-level rise. Its disappearance, they warn, is a preview of things to come for other low-lying coastal species if human-caused climate change continues unabated.
“It’s a big deal when we lose species from an entire country,” said George Gann, executive director of the Florida-based nonprofit Institute for Regional Conservation.
Scientists have warned for a while that global warming threatens to batter many species. The loss of this cactus underscores how climate change is driving extinctions in real time — not in the future, but today.
“For me, it was devastating,” said Jimmy Lange, a research botanist at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Florida who monitored the Key Largo tree cactus for years. Lange, Gann and other researchers described the local extinction in a study published Tuesday in the Journal of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas.
“This is such a glorious plant,” Lange said.
The tree cactus persists elsewhere in the Caribbean, including parts of Cuba and the Bahamas. But the stand lost on Key Largo to saltwater intrusion from rising seas and soil depletion from high tides and hurricanes was the only one known in the United States. This coastal plant with the snowy fur is Florida’s latest victim of sea-level rise, fueled by the melting of glacial ice thousands of miles away.
Discovered in 1992, this solitary stand of Key Largo tree cactuses sprouted from a limestone outcrop bordered by mangroves on Key Largo, a 33-mile-long island south of Miami popular with tourists. At night, its cream-colored flowers reflected moonlight and attracted bats that actedas pollinators. The magenta fruit that grew from the pollinated plants lured hungry birds and mammals during the day.
Botanists first noticed a problem in 2015 when they discovered something had almost entirely chewed through many of the cactus stems, probably in search of water. Only 60 individuals were left alive; half the population was gone.
The perpetrator may have been a raccoon or rat, though a wildlife camera never caught a culprit. “We’re not 100 percent sure,” Lange said. The team began rescuing stem fragments the following year.
Then in 2017, Hurricane Irma sent a 5-foot storm surge through Key Largo. The cactuses had endured hurricanes before, but the rush of seawater from that Category 5 storm accelerated the die-off. Past research has shown higher mortality rates for tree cactuses in saltier soil.
Even after the skies cleared, “king tides” boosted by sea-level rise continued to bring destructive saltwater within inches of the plants. The higher tides may have even made freshwater less available to small mammals and prompted the frenzy on the cactuses stems to quench their thirst. “But we can’t say for sure,” Lange said.

In Gaza, all eyes are on Lebanon
People in Gaza hoped that an expansion of the Lebanese front would ease pressure on Gaza. Instead, Israel has escalated its massacres while global attention is elsewhere. They still hope the resistance in Lebanon will make Israel pay.
A day after the start of the genocide in Gaza on October 7 of last year, the first Arab front of solidarity aimed at ending the genocide was formed in Lebanon, and Hezbollah announced that it would fight Israel from the north until the war on Gaza ended. For an entire year, the resistance in Lebanon never let up in maintaining its “support front,” as its Secretary General Hasan Nasrallah called it. The reaction of the Palestinians of Gaza to Hezbollah’s intention to continue fighting alongside the Palestinians was hopeful. They believed that increased military pressure on Israel from the north would force it to divide up its forces and lessen the pressure on Gaza. But contrary to this belief, expanding the war in Lebanon has now been met with an expansion of the pace of massacres in Gaza as well.
[...]
“What is happening in Lebanon is what is happening in Gaza,” says Khaled Salama, 33, from a tent encampment in Khan Younis. “Genocide and forced displacement are taking place in Gaza and Lebanon. The Zionists want to annihilate all Palestinians, as well as those who stand with them and support them.”
[...]
Many in Gaza are now convinced that Israel wants to expand the circle of genocide to include non-Palestinians. Since the news began to come in from Lebanon, accompanied by the familiar scenes of bombing, displacement, and large numbers of people martyred in a single day, Gazans confirmed what they already knew: that Israel wants nothing but destruction, death, and genocide for everyone around it. “We saw how ambulances were bombed in Lebanon, how entire families were killed in a single raid, and we saw the screams from the rubble. We lived all of this before it happened in Lebanon, so we are the ones who know best what Lebanon is going through now,” Khaled tells Mondoweiss. “Israel’s excuse for destroying the Gaza Strip was the October 7 attack,” Khaled continues. “What is Israel’s excuse for destroying Lebanon now? Israel is now more certain than ever that no one will hold it accountable, so the pace of its crimes is increasing day by day.”

The Three Angels' Messages Lesson 01: The Final Countdown
When you read through the book of Revelation, it is very easy to get caught up in the imagery of beasts and plagues. However, Revelation is ultimately about Jesus. Did you know that Jesus has a special message for His people in the last days before the second coming?
This message is proclaimed in Revelation chapter 14 by three angels. In short, they are Jesus’ final push to save people from ultimate destruction. Today we are going to study the first angel’s message.
Revelation 14:6-7 - Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth–to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people–saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
What is so special about this message? How is it related to the Gospel?
Let’s read together Genesis 3:15; Deuteronomy 18:15; John 1:29; John 3:16; and Revelation 14:6
The key phrase in Revelation 14:6 is “the everlasting Gospel.”
The Gospel message is the same now as it was when Adam and Eve first received it. The people of the Old Testament were looking forward to a coming Savior who will save them from their sins. The people of the New Testament and throughout the centuries until today look forward to a Savior who died for our sins.
Jesus is that Savior, taking upon the sins of all of humanity when He died for our sins on the cross at Calvary two thousand years ago.
While the Gospel message never changes, people in a particular age may receive a specific mission or message. For this study, let’s refer to that specific mission or message as present truth.
For example, in the time of Noah, the present truth was to get in the ark. The world was about to be destroyed. The only way Jesus could save people was if they had the faith to get in the ark. For the people in the time of John the Baptist, the present truth was to accept his message that the coming Messiah was upon them. Did they have the faith to accept Jesus was the Messiah as pointed out by John? Today, the present truth is to heed the three angels’ messages.
Let’s read together Revelation 14:7.
The first angel has a global message, which has four parts:
Fear God
Give Him glory
The hour of His judgment has come
Worship Him
What does it mean to fear God? Let’s turn to Exodus 20:20; Deuteronomy 10:12; Proverbs 9:10; Jeremiah 32:40; and 1 John 4:18.
Many people, including Christians, believe that to fear God is to grovel before Him. They should be afraid of Him and try to appease Him in order to avoid His wrath.
However, the fear of God actually has nothing to do with being afraid of Him. To fear God, biblically speaking, is to give Him the reverence and respect He deserves. When we fear God in this manner, we can also love Him.
For example, we love our parents, but we should also show the proper respect due to them.
Let’s read together Psalm 29:2 and Luke 19:37-40.
What is glory? One of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary’s definitions of the word “glory” is “worshipful, praise, honor, and thanksgiving.”
Have you ever been to a sporting event, a concert, or even a movie with a large crowd who are really into the experience? Everyone shouting for joy at a particular moment or overcome with a sense of awe from what they just experienced? Even if you are someone who would never go to such events, have you ever experienced that sense of awe in the presence of God?
When we fear God, our lives will change. We will begin to see how great and wonderful He truly is. We will become in awe of Him. If we are in awe of God, we cannot help but give Him glory. We will gladly worship Him, praise Him, honor Him, and thank Him.
Let’s read together Daniel 2:33; 41-44; Malachi 3:5; Matthew 24:12-14; 1 Peter 4:17; 2 Peter 3:1-3; and Revelation 14:7.
Note that REvelation 14:7 says “the hour of judgment has come, not will come.” We know from Daniel chapter 2 and Matthew chapter 24 we are living in the end times.
There is an urgency to the first angel’s message. To put it into perspective, if you are a student, finals week is here. If you are into sports, the playoffs are here. If you are in the medical field, the board inspector is here.
There is no time to procrastinate. This is the final push to bring people to Jesus.
Let’s read together Genesis 24:48; Exodus 5:2; Nehemiah 9:3; Psalm 99:9; Matthew 14:33; and Revelation 7:11.
Why should we fear the Lord and give glory to Him? Pharoah once asked Moses the same question once. What kind of response will you get if you ask Christians, “why should you worship Jesus?” They will usually say something like “we worship Jesus because He died for our sins at Calvary and redeemed us.” It is a good answer, but not the entire answer.
Let’s read together Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 40:26; Isaiah 43:1; and Colossians 1:16.
Broadly speaking, humans are the only beings in the universe who do not acknowledge God as our Creator. The angels in heaven acknowledge God as their Creator. The unfallen beings in the rest of the universe acknowledge God as their Creator. We limit God when we do not acknowledge Him as our Creator.
In summary, the first angel’s message is not a new message. It is linked to the Gospel. It reminds us we should not be afraid of God. He is our Creator and He loves us. God is much bigger than we think of Him. Not only did He create us, He created the heavens and earth and everything within. God holds all of creation together with His power. He is calling us to come back to Him, to worship Him and give Him the respect He deserves. If you come to know Him then you will surely be in awe of Him. Your relationship with God will be more intimate and proud that any secular experience you could have.
Friend, if you love Jesus and are in awe of Him, will you share the first angel’s message with others?

IMAGES: BUFFs return to Guam in new deployment of the Bomber Task Force
Implementation of the B-52 occurred after a recent hurricane in the region.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/16/2023 - 19:33 in Military, War Zones
More than 200 aviators and four B-52 Stratofortresses bombers assigned to the 23º Bomber Squadron, from Minot Air Base, North Dakota, arrived at Andersen Air Base, Guam on June 14 to conduct missions from the Bomber Task Force - or BTF.
BTF deployments and operations support U.S. Indo-Pacific Command missions by integrating strategic bomber capabilities into a joint and coalition environment.
The deployment in Guam has been less than a month since the island was hit by super-tufão Mawar, leading the U.S. Air Force to send its Natural Disaster Recovery Team to Andersen. The base did not report serious injuries or damage to the aircraft, but some facilities were damaged or lost power during the storm. The permanent change of season change to Andersen was interrupted for 60 days to facilitate recovery.
“Being here in the Indo-Pacific with the Bomber Task Force allows our forces to show our ability to unfold anytime, anywhere, in support of the fighting commander's goals,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Loucks, commander of this recent U.S. Air Force BTF. "Training and operating in the priority theater allows us to demonstrate our continued readiness, willingness and commitment to our allies and partners."
This marks the second deployment of B-52s in Guam in three months - four bombers from Barksdale Air Base, Louisiana, arrived on March 30 and returned home at the end of April. During this time, they completed 29 outbreaks while integrating with four allied partners, according to a statement from the Pacific Air Forces.
On the other side of the world, another deployment of the Bomber Task Force is underway in Europe - B-1s from Dyess Air Base, Texas, landed at the Fairford RAF Base, United Kingdom, on May 23 and participated in the Arctic Challenge Exercise and Air Defender 23, as well as a mission in the Middle East.
The B-52s in the Pacific will also be occupied - previous USAF bomber rotations flew over the Korean Peninsula as part of the U.S. commitment to South Korea.
The B-52H Stratofortress, nicknamed BUFF (Big, Ugly, Fat and Fellow), is a long-range, nuclear and conventional heavy bomber that can perform a variety of missions. The B-52H can fly at high subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet, with a fuel-free combat range of more than 8,800 miles and can carry precision-guided ammunition with precision navigation around the world.
The U.S. maintains a strong and reliable strategic bomber force that increases the security and stability of allies and partners. BTF missions allow crews to maintain a high state of readiness and proficiency and validate the USAF's always-ready global attack capability.

“In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once. When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” —Matthew 21:18-22 (ESV)
“Easter Explained: An 8-Day Guide to Celebrating Holy Week.” A Devotional By Spoken Gospel - Day 3: “Holy Tuesday”:
“For the last 1,600 years, Christians around the world remember the last days of Jesus' life during Holy Week. Today is Holy Tuesday. Holy Tuesday remembers the day Jesus curses a fig tree and it withers down to the root.
Israel, and in particular her priests and temple, were God's intended plan to extend his love and blessing to all nations. But the priests of Jesus' day made it impossible for foreigners to worship God (Matthew 21:13). The faith of the religious elite had departed from its original purpose and was now a dead religion. Yesterday we remembered how Jesus, with a whip in hand, challenged the religious establishment of Israel.
Like Jesus, the prophets of the Hebrew Bible often spoke against Israel's priests and their leadership of the temple. Many, like the prophet Micah, described them as diseased trees that from a distance looked healthy, but close up were rotten and infertile (Micah 7:1-7). So the next morning, when Jesus sees a fig tree with no fruit on it, he curses it and it withers (Matthew 21:19). It's a prophetic symbol to his disciples that the current leadership of Israel's temple has forgotten its purpose. It is corrupt, dead, and must be destroyed.
The disciples miss the symbolism and only ask how the fig tree withered so quickly. Jesus replies, 'Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done' (Matthew 21:21).
But Jesus isn't explaining how the disciples can go and curse their own fig tree or throw their problems into the ocean. He's telling them how the religious establishment of Israel will fall. When the disciples pray in faith, the mountain that the temple is built on will crumble. Through the disciples' faith, Israel's corrupt leadership will fall. Jesus has come to cleanse the temple of its dead religion, and Jesus expects his disciples to share that responsibility. They are part of his rebellion against the corrupt religious status quo.
In the verses following today's passage, the religious leaders question what right Jesus has to claim the end of their temple system (Matthew 21:23). Jesus responds over and over again with stories and parables that reveal their corruption (Matthew 21:33-46). And then, like the prophets before him, Jesus predicts the destruction of Israel's temple by an invading army (Matthew 24:1-2). The religious leaders of Israel can't take it any more and continue their schemes to kill Jesus (Matthew 26:3-4).
Holy Tuesday is good news because Jesus announces the end of a corrupt religious order and the dawning of a new global people of God. And more than that, he invites us to join him in both rejecting dead religion and creating a new and indestructible Church. And Jesus says the way we both do battle and build is through prayer.
When we ask God, in faith, to tear down dead religion, he will. And when we ask God to build in its place a global Church that cannot be destroyed, he will do that too. And God guarantees these prayers will be answered in Jesus' death and resurrection. Because Jesus dies, we know that all dead religion will one day be judged for its failures. But because Jesus rose from the dead, we know that in its place Jesus is making a new temple, called the Church, that can never be destroyed, not even by death.
So I pray that on this Holy Tuesday you will accept that Jesus is creating a new religious order in us. And that by faith we can join Jesus in building a Church that death, corruption, or the schemes of men will never destroy.”

What is the most likely result of a US-China conflict in the Taiwan Strait?
My guess is a very high-cost victory for the United States/Taiwan/Japan.
I'm overall not very impressed by the modernization of the PLA and PLAN, especially in the field of aircraft where I know a little bit more compared to ground and naval assets. Most of their indigenous designs are reverse-engineered from poorly-performing Soviet aircraft. The J-15 has an abysmally high sortie failure rate (~33%) for a carrier aircraft and their stealth aircraft are very unimpressive given what we've seen of their RCS.
Amphibious operations are already tricky, and China simply doesn't have the number of landing craft to take Taiwan. Their logistical staff is anemic for their regular army, let alone a complicated operation of that size. Given their experience in both their failed invasion of Vietnam and their poor and unprofessional performance as UN peacekeepers, I'd say that their army is primarily trained to act as enforcement for their police state as opposed to unpredictable combat situations.
That isn't to say it wouldn't be bloody, there would be a lot of munitions fired. The USN would have to be prepared to lose dozens of ships, hundreds of aircraft, and five-figure casualty counts. The destruction to China would be devastating, much of the eastern shore would have been bombarded. Much like Russia, I don't see China being too precise with any strikes given poor quality control in arms manufacture and a cavalier attitude toward civilian casualties. Given that a significant part of Taiwan is high-density urban environment, I predict a lot of civilian casualties as poorly-aimed cross-Strait strikes impact apartment buildings, hotels, and offices. Economic damage would be immense on both sides and would be felt across the entire planet, creating a global economic recession if not a full on depression.
So with that in mind, the best thing to do would be to continue to fortify Taiwan using the porcupine strategy as an effective deterrent to prevent war.
Thanks for the question, Cle-Guy.

Lets talk about why I don't support protecting invasive species
This popped into my mind the other day when I was sitting at lunch with a couple of friends and I saw a line of Argintinean ants on our table, so I squashed them. One of my friends made a snarky comment that "I thought you loved all animals, why are you killing the ants then," and I have been waiting for this rant for a long time. Argintinean ants are a huge problem in South Africa, where I live. They are slowly destroying the populations of native ants to the point that I barely see any other species left. Yes, I do love all animals. I love scuttly long, legged spiders that hide in the corners of my home, I love the slimy frogs that I constantly have to remove from my schoolgrounds for their safety, I even love stink bugs and the odd little buzzing sound they make when they fly. Animals are all fascinating in their own way, IN THEIR RIGHTFUL PLACE IN THE ECOSYSTEM.
I will not hesitate to exterminate an invasive wasp nest from my house that is threatening my native bee colonies. I will not hesitate to rip out Black Wattle and Rooikrans from the ground to protect native plants. This does not count for natural, native predators, as I understand that every system needs a form of balance. The problem is that these invasive species throws this balance off, which could lead to extinction in extreme cases. Another big example of invasive species is domesticated animals, especially cats. I adore cats, but I also acknowledge the huge threat they pose to ecosystems all around the world. According to BBC, "they are responsible for the deaths of between 1.4 and 3.7 billion birds and 6.9-20.7 billion mammals annually," and National Geographic says "free-ranging domestic cats kill between 1.3 and 4 billion birds – on top of between 6.2 and 22.3 billion mammals – every year in the United States alone." Domestic cats have also been blamed for the global extinction of at least 33 species.
I don't want everyone to forget that other domestic animals are also a huge problem to native species, such as dogs, rats and pigs, but cats are by far the most destructive.
I think it is extremely important for pet owners to realize the potential threat their pet poses for their native ecosystem, and I think it is necessary for them to monitor their pets, especially cats, much more strictly. It is also very important to neuter your pets, because more of them means less native species. Consider adopting instead of buying a new puppy or kitten, since stray animals also account for a lot of destruction. I do not mean to hate on pets or pet owners, As I said previously I adore animals in all their different forms. I just feel very strongly that we should put the welfare of our native wildlife before the welfare of invasive species. I want to protect them while they are still here.

It was the law enforcement response earlier in the week that did not sit well with members of the faculty.
“Our colleagues observed that the LAPD advanced on the student encampment, pushing and herding them, using the tactic of kettling,” alleged faculty in their statement. “Forced closely together, the students made easy targets for police who shot them with stun grenades, chemical agents, and rubber bullets. Police beat them with batons and shot them with rubber bullets, striking one student in the face with a rubber bullet.
“At least 25 students had to be hospitalized. They then arrested approximately 200 students, staff, faculty, dragging visibly injured students away. This wanton use of potentially lethal force culminated in the complete destruction of the encampment.”
The professors — 33 who signed the statement — added that Block’s message to the community after the event “seriously misrepresented these matters.”
Rubber bullets (also called rubber baton rounds) are a type of baton round. Despite the name, rubber bullets typically have either a metal core with a rubber coating, or are a homogeneous admixture with rubber being a minority component. Although they are considered a less lethal alternative to metal projectiles, rubber bullets can still cause fatal injuries as well as other serious injuries such as blindness or other permanent disabilities.
Security forces across the world are routinely misusing rubber and plastic bullets and other law enforcement weapons to violently suppress peaceful protests and cause horrific injuries and deaths, said Amnesty International today, in a new report calling for strict controls on their use and a global treaty to regulate their trade.
The report, My Eye Exploded, published jointly with the Omega Research Foundation, is based on research in more than 30 countries over the last five years. It documents how thousands of protesters and bystanders have been maimed and dozens killed by the often reckless and disproportionate use of less lethal law enforcement weaponry, including kinetic impact projectiles (KIPs), such as rubber bullets, as well as the firing of rubberized buckshot, and tear gas grenades aimed and fired directly at demonstrators.
Just a reminder for people who may not know, in light of protestors at UCLA being shot in the face with rubber bullets— rubber bullets are not bullets made of rubber. They are metal bullets encased in rubber.
Despite being called “non-lethal” or sometimes “less lethal”, they are well known to cause death and permanent disability.
Here’s a photo showing their size— these are actual rubber bullets used during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.
Do not let them downplay the severity of what they are subjecting this students to for standing against genocide. Stay safe and stay educated.
#protests against genocide#violently attacked by US police#more links and info#less lethal than a standard bullet can still be pretty damn lethal#free palestine#(hey they can't shoot me over the internet)

Bushfires are a part of Australian life, but their increasing intensity due to climate change has raised the stakes. By examining past tragedies like Black Saturday and Ash Wednesday, we can uncover vital lessons to help Australians stay safe. Preparing for bushfires isn’t just about knowing the risks; it’s about taking actionable steps to protect lives, homes, and communities. Why Bushfire Preparedness is Crucial in Australia The Growing Threat of Bushfires Bushfires are a natural part of Australia’s landscape, but their frequency and severity have drastically increased in recent years. What used to be a seasonal hazard is now a year-round threat, fueled by a combination of environmental and human factors. Understanding the growing danger is essential for safeguarding lives, properties, and ecosystems. Key Drivers of the Threat: Climate Change: Rising global temperatures have led to hotter, drier conditions across Australia, creating the perfect environment for fires to ignite and spread. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns that extreme heat events and prolonged droughts will become more common, further exacerbating bushfire risks. Drought: Long periods without rain dry out vegetation, turning it into highly flammable fuel. Regions once considered safe are now vulnerable due to changing rainfall patterns. Population Growth in Fire-Prone Areas: More Australians are building homes in bushland regions, increasing the risk of property damage and making evacuation efforts more challenging. Bushfire Facts from Australia’s Deadliest Fires Examining Australia’s most devastating bushfires reveals how unpreparedness and extreme conditions have contributed to catastrophic outcomes: Black Saturday (2009) Impact: Claimed 173 lives and destroyed over 2,000 homes in Victoria. Key Lessons: The lack of clear evacuation plans and the underestimation of fire speed were critical issues. Survivors reported the need for better early warning systems and community education. Ash Wednesday (1983) Impact: Took 75 lives and burned through thousands of hectares in South Australia and Victoria. Key Lessons: Strong winds and poor coordination between firefighting services highlighted the importance of interagency collaboration and communication. Black Summer (2019–2020) Impact: A devastating fire season, resulting in 33 fatalities, the destruction of over 3,000 homes, and the burning of 18.6 million hectares. Key Lessons: Climate-driven fires overwhelmed firefighting resources, demonstrating the need for enhanced national strategies, investment in fire safety equipment, and stronger mitigation measures. What These Disasters Teach Us About Preparedness Each of these events underscores the importance of proactive bushfire preparedness. While we cannot eliminate bushfires, we can significantly reduce their impact by understanding the risks and taking actionable steps. The following lessons emerge: 1.Fires Can Escalate Quickly: Under the right conditions, a small spark can transform into an uncontrollable blaze within minutes. Preparing early is non-negotiable. 2.Clear Communication Saves Lives: Reliable warning systems and community engagement are essential to ensure people act swiftly when danger arises. 3.Investing in Fire-Resilient Infrastructure Is Critical: Homes built to withstand fire, equipped with ember-proof materials, and surrounded by cleared vegetation are far less likely to succumb to flames. The growing threat of bushfires highlights the urgency of implementing robust fire safety measures. By learning from past disasters and adapting to a changing climate, Australians can protect what matters most: their families, homes, and communities. Lessons Learned from Australia’s Deadliest Fires 1. Early Warnings Save Lives One of the most important lessons from Black Saturday is the critical role early warnings play in saving lives. Many people didn’t realize how quickly bushfires can escalate, often moving faster than expected and catching communities off guard. Fires can create their own weather systems, and strong winds can propel them unpredictably. On that tragic day, many who delayed action were unable to escape the flames in time. Early warning systems, such as those provided by Fire Rescue Australia and state rural fire services, are designed to give residents as much notice as possible to prepare or evacuate. However, these systems are only effective if people act on them immediately. Hesitating or second-guessing official advice can mean the difference between life and death. Lessons Learned from Australia’s Deadliest FiresSource: Analysis of historical data from Australian bushfire incidents. Learn more about bushfire history in Australia. The Importance of Understanding Alerts Australia uses a tiered alert system for bushfire warnings: Advice: A fire is nearby, and you should stay informed. Watch and Act: The fire poses a potential threat to life and property, and you must take immediate action. Emergency Warning: The fire is imminent, and you are in danger. Act now to save your life. Many lives have been saved by those who acted swiftly after receiving these warnings. Whether it’s evacuating early or preparing their property, decisive action can drastically reduce the risk of harm. Common Reasons People Ignore Warnings 1.Complacency: Believing “it won’t happen to me.” 2.Underestimating Fire Speed: Fires can spread kilometers in minutes. 3.Lack of Preparedness: No clear plan in place for what to do when a warning is issued. Actionable Tip: Stay Informed: Download apps like Fires Near Me NSW for real-time updates on fire conditions and alerts in your area. Ensure notifications are enabled so you don’t miss critical updates. Set Alerts for All Family Members: Make sure everyone in the household is aware of the warning system and can respond if you’re separated. By understanding and acting on early warnings, you can protect your family, home, and community from devastating bushfire impacts. Remember, when a warning is issued, don’t wait—act immediately. 2. Home Preparedness is Key Bushfire-prone areas in Australia demand proactive preparation to minimize the risk of property damage and loss of life. One of the most critical threats during bushfires is ember attack, where burning debris is carried by wind and lands on or near your property. Embers can travel several kilometers ahead of the fire front, igniting flammable materials and causing significant destruction to homes that are not adequately prepared. Steps to Prepare Your Home: 1.Clear Gutters of Leaves and Debris Gutters clogged with leaves and twigs act as kindling for ember attacks. Regularly clean them, especially during bushfire season. Installing gutter guards can help minimize buildup, reducing maintenance while adding a layer of fire resistance. 2.Create a 20-Meter “Defendable Space” Around Your Property A defendable space acts as a buffer zone, making it harder for a fire to reach your home. Remove dry vegetation, fallen leaves, and dead branches. Prune trees and shrubs to keep their canopies well-spaced and clear of your roof. Mow grass regularly and keep it short. This space not only protects your home but also provides a safer area for firefighters to work if they need to defend your property. 3.Install Ember-Proof Vents and Screens Embers can enter homes through gaps in vents, windows, and roof spaces. Install ember-resistant mesh (with apertures of 2mm or less) over vents and windows. These additions are especially crucial for older homes that may not have been designed with bushfire protection in mind. 4.Keep Fire Safety Equipment Accessible Equip your home with tools like fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and hoses long enough to reach all parts of your property. For rural properties, consider installing water tanks with fire pumps for added protection. Tip: Ensure your equipment is regularly checked and serviced so it’s ready when needed. Pro Tip: Use Bushfire-Resistant Materials When building or renovating, opt for materials rated for bushfire resistance, particularly for your roof and walls. Roofing: Metal roofs are more fire-resistant than traditional tiles or shingles. Walls: Use materials such as brick, concrete, or specially treated timber that can withstand higher temperatures. Windows and Doors: Invest in toughened glass and metal-framed screens to reduce the risk of heat cracking or ember entry. Additional Steps for Enhanced Safety: •Seal gaps in walls, roofs, and under decks where embers might lodge. •Store flammable materials (such as firewood, gas cylinders, and outdoor furniture) away from the home. •Create a firebreak by maintaining a gravel or paved area around the house. Preparing your home not only increases its chances of survival but also provides peace of mind during bushfire season. By taking these steps, you’ll be actively contributing to fire safety in Australia, ensuring your home and family are as protected as possible. 3. Community Response Matters Bushfires are not just a challenge for individuals; they require collective action. Ash Wednesday in 1983 highlighted how crucial community cohesion is in responding to fast-moving and large-scale fires. During this tragedy, neighborhoods that banded together and supported firefighting efforts fared better than those that were unprepared or disjointed. Communities that worked in tandem with fire services managed to save more homes and protect more lives. Why Community Response is Vital Bushfires are unpredictable, and emergency services may not always arrive in time to protect every property or person. A well-prepared and connected community can act as a first line of defense, mitigating damage while awaiting professional help. Local groups, when organized, can also provide valuable resources such as water tanks, fire-fighting equipment, and coordinated communication during an emergency. How to Strengthen Your Community’s Bushfire Resilience Community Bushfire Resilience DataData Sources:- Local Council Bushfire Preparedness Survey 2023 - A comprehensive survey conducted by local councils to assess community awareness, preparedness, and response to bushfire risks. This report provides data on fire safety plans, survival kits, and vegetation compliance. - Volunteer Firefighter Reports - A collection of insights and statistics reported by volunteer firefighters on community engagement, response times, and availability of fire safety equipment. 1. Join or Support Local Community Fire Brigades Volunteering with your local fire brigade is one of the most effective ways to contribute. Firefighters often rely on community members to assist with non-technical tasks, logistical support, and spreading awareness. If volunteering isn’t an option, consider donating to your local brigade to ensure they have adequate resources and equipment. 2. Attend Fire Safety Australia Workshops or Drills Workshops hosted by organizations like Fire Rescue Australia or your state’s rural fire service are an excellent opportunity to learn. They provide hands-on training in basic fire management techniques, such as using fire extinguishers and creating firebreaks. Drills simulate real bushfire conditions, helping communities practice coordinated evacuations and communication strategies. 3. Form or Participate in a Community Fire Plan Work with neighbors to develop a local bushfire survival plan. This plan can include shared water resources, group communication methods (like WhatsApp groups), and evacuation strategies. A united approach ensures no one is left unprepared or uninformed. 4. Host Awareness Campaigns Educating others in your community can make a big difference. Host talks, distribute flyers, or use social media to share bushfire facts, preparedness tips, and updates. An informed community is a safer community. 5. Build Community Infrastructure Lobby for or support fire-preparedness infrastructure in your area, such as: Community fire refuges or shelters. Shared fire-fighting equipment like water tanks or hoses. Clear signage for evacuation routes. When a community works together, it becomes more resilient against bushfires. By building relationships with neighbors and participating in preparedness activities, you’ll be better equipped to face fire season together. The strength of collective action can mean the difference between devastation and survival. 4. Have a Bushfire Survival Plan The devastation of Black Summer underscored a critical gap in household preparedness: the absence of robust survival plans. Many families found themselves caught off guard, unsure of whether to evacuate or stay and defend their homes. A well-thought-out bushfire survival plan can mean the difference between life and death, ensuring that you and your loved ones know exactly what to do before, during, and after a fire. Key Components of a Survival Plan 1. Decision-Making: Stay or Go Early Deciding whether to leave early or stay to defend your property is one of the most important—and often most difficult—choices during a bushfire. This decision should be made well in advance of fire season, considering factors like: Your physical ability to defend your home. he fire-resistant features of your property. Accessibility of evacuation routes. Pro Tip: Always choose to leave early if unsure. Many fatalities occur when people delay their decision, leaving them trapped. 2. Evacuation Routes and Safe Meeting Points Planning your evacuation route ahead of time ensures a safe and quick exit if a fire threatens. Identify multiple routes to avoid potential road closures and choose a safe meeting point for your family. Steps to Plan Your Evacuation: Map out routes that avoid bushfire-prone areas. Share these routes with family members. Select a safe meeting place, such as a community refuge or a friend’s house in a safer area. 3. Emergency Contact List Having a comprehensive contact list ensures you can communicate with loved ones and emergency services when it matters most. Include: Local fire services (e.g., NSW Rural Fire Service). Family members and friends. Neighbors for mutual support. Insurance company contacts. Tip: Store your contact list in both physical and digital formats, ensuring you can access it even if power or internet services are down. 4. Emergency Kit An emergency kit provides essential supplies you’ll need during evacuation or if you’re sheltering in place. Prepare your kit well before fire season and keep it in a readily accessible location. What to Include: Water: At least three liters per person per day for three days. First Aid Supplies: Bandages, antiseptics, and any necessary medications. Protective Clothing: Long-sleeved shirts, pants, gloves, and sturdy footwear. important Documents: Copies of IDs, insurance policies, and a survival plan. Tools: Flashlights, batteries, multi-tools, and a battery-operated radio. Food: Non-perishable items like canned goods and energy bars. Additional Tip: Regularly check and update your kit, replacing expired items and ensuring batteries and tools are functional. By incorporating these elements into your bushfire survival plan, you can significantly improve your chances of staying safe during a fire. Revisit and practice your plan regularly with all household members to ensure everyone knows their role and can act swiftly when needed. Conclusion: Be Prepared, Stay Safe Bushfires are an inevitable part of life in Australia, but with proper preparation and vigilance, you can significantly reduce the risks to your family, home, and community. The lessons from Australia’s deadliest fires, such as Black Saturday and Black Summer, highlight the importance of early warnings, home readiness, community action, and having a robust bushfire survival plan. Take the time to assess your fire safety equipment, prepare your property, and map out evacuation routes. Stay informed through reliable sources, and don’t underestimate the importance of practicing your survival plan. Homeopathic Treatment for Vitiligo – Say Goodbye to White Spots with Bharat Homeopathy
Vitiligo can be described as an immune condition that develops and is caused by the loss of epidermal melanocytes, leading to a loss of pigmentation. The condition could progress to affect the dermal hair follicular reserve and cause damage to melanocyte stem cells. Although the global prevalence of vitiligo is less than 1%, for certain groups, it can be at least 33%. Traditionally, vitiligo is classified into segmental and non-segmental varieties according to the pattern of skin pigmentation. Vitiligo can cause psychological stress, especially among those who have darker skin tones, because of the changes in appearance that it can bring. Additionally, in some areas, such as rural India, the condition is seen as a stigmatised social issue, particularly for females who are young.
Symptoms of Vitiligo
In the majority of cases, there is a rapid loss of colour across a variety of areas of the skin. Once the white spots appear, they remain for a short time, but they may then get larger. The pigmentation can be reduced and stabilised repeatedly. Homeopathy is among the best treatment for vitiligo.
White spots typically appear on:
Folds in the body (e.g. armpits)
The areas of injury that have been previously injured
Sun-struck areas
Around moles
vitiligo on lips
Around the body orifices
Mucous membranes (tissue in the nasal area and mouth)
Hair and eyes can be affected, too.
When white patches appear, the pigmentation is not always present.
Different types of Vitiligo
There are five kinds of Vitiligo. Homeopathy provides treatment for white spot on skin for all five types.
Generalised type: This is the most commonly used kind. These patches of discolouration appear on every part of your body.
Segmental types: This occurs when the vitiligo is restricted to a particular area of the body, like the hands or face.
Localised: The discolouration is limited to one region and doesn't spread.
Trichromatic: The discolouration is particularly intense in certain regions and less so in others, and then it is accompanied by normal-coloured skin.
Universal: Rare Type. Over 80% of skin discolours.
Complications of Vitiligo:
While vitiligo is mostly an immune system problem, it could cause a variety of complications if it is not treated appropriately. You should seek natural remedies for vitiligo disease treatment early enough to prevent these issues. The risks associated with vitiligo are as follows:
Sunburns: Because of the absence of melanin produced by vitiligo. The skin is more sensitive to the harmful effects of the sun. Therefore, people with extensive vitiligo have a higher chance of developing sunburns.
Autoimmune diseases are increased: People suffering from vitiligo could be at risk of developing other autoimmune diseases. These may include illnesses like anaemia, hypothyroidism, and diabetes.
Eye issues: People with vitiligo might experience eye-related issues such as a swollen iris as well as uveitis (a condition characterised by inflammation within the middle layer of the eye). Additionally, they might be able to notice changes in the iris's colour and could also have retinal issues.
Ear problems: In certain instances, those suffering from Vitiligo may experience hyperacusis (partial hearing loss). Homeopathy provides an effective and efficient vitiligo treatment.
Psychological issues: One of the most frequent complications of vitiligo is issues with the complexion of your skin. People with vitiligo frequently suffer from low self-esteem and anxiety about their illness. This can lead to stress, and in some instances, individuals may decide to remain in a secluded area.
Homeopathic Treatment For Vitiligo
Homeopathic remedies to treatment for white spot on skin treat the affected areas by stopping the destruction of melanin triggered by the body's immune response. These treatments work on the level of the immune cells to protect against further damage and rebuild those affected regions as quickly as they can. Homeopathy vitiligo medication
Treatment for vitiligo is a tested method of treatment that lasts for a long time and strives to provide a lasting treatment with the course.
The homeopathic vitiligo treatment naturally must be tailored to each person. A thorough medical study of your medical history is crucial to customise the treatment for vitiligo. The homeopathic treatment for vitiligo is developed after a thorough analysis of your prior treatments and the drugs you've used to treat this condition.
