I have a question as a humble anon. Im curious but, how do you feel about him as a character? And how AOT ended? I feel like your answer will be fun to hear. :) I had mixed feelings but idk. Seeing him made go "oh no" because like, I forgot the existed, lol sorry but also because of all the infighting that happened in the fandom. So I was wondering if you had any thoughts?

{{ Oof. Okay, so--I think I'm not the best person to ask about this because when THAT happened in the fandom, I was highly confused as to why people hated it. I legit didn't understand. I had to go back and re-read the manga and I still didn't understand why people were pissed? But looking back on it, I can see it. Before I continue on that point, I'll answer you:

I adore Eren. He's my poor little meow meow. My smol angry husbando. He's a complex, traumatized, aggressive, violent fucker. I love him. Many of my current muses are on the spectrum of 'ready for violence for whatever reason'. I think it's okay to like him. Folks don't owe you a ten page essay rife with sources as to why they like or don't like a character. Moral judgements shouldn't be made about what piece of fiction someone engages with; you're not their parent and shaming isn't cool, whether you're fine with what they like or not. Very rarely will you change their mind, and instead of blocking them/moving on, you're just making yourself upset/creating an unsafe/unwelcomed environment from those who think and engage with the source material differently from you. Putting the rest under a read more because spoiler territory.

With that said, the ending was fine--I quite liked it! It's tragic and sad for sure, but I had no illusions about Attack on Titan ending horrifically. It's a dark fantasy story that began with what's left of humanity defending itself from flesh-eating monsters picking them off one by one. If . . . you thought a story like that would have a happy ending (or would have romance in it--a complaint I saw in many, many places), I have to ask why. Why is that where your mind is when there's death and destruction on every page? Then the plot twist--Titans are actually people, and they were created and planted in strategic places around the world because of [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS]. It's so fucked. You'd be lucky if your favorite character survived to the END. (Which, didn't happen for me. As I said, Eren gets love around here because I adore how layered he is. I did mourn another character who died earlier, though. And Eren's response to her fate broke my heart; yet another thing the fandom twisted around and made into something it's not). Point is--there is no real 'moral lesson' to AOT. It's a dark story made to entertain. The theme is "senseless violence begets senseless violence". It's funny because I was talking about this recently with the Eren I write with (@scarlxtleaves). Isayama himself in many interviews stated he just made it because he wanted to. Many times he was pressed for an answer and that's what he kept saying. There was one interview I remember where he did give a 'proper' answer (a generic answer about hope/optimism/determination, I think? Don't quote me on that), but it was because he was pressed for one--as if people couldn't just take him at his word. It's a bit sad, honestly. Not everything needs to be so deep--which brings me back to the fandom.

I think many people took the ending out of context, Eren out of context and used the manga as a way to attack Isayama. Many people were upset their ships didn't happen, some felt betrayed that Eren turned out be the ultimate villain/antagonist, some even went as far to send him hate mail, tell him his manga was horrible, that he should d*e, etc etc. Again, in hindsight, I understand all of this. I got whiplash too. 😂 I was like "for real??????? Y'all deadass rn???? Someone say SIKE" but nope, that's who he was--which encouraged me to reread and rewatch EVERYTHING. It all clicked and I went "how the hell did we not see this?!" 😭 So yeah, I get that Eren doing the Rumbling is extreme--but that's the point, he's BEEN that extreme since chapter and episode 1. We just didn't pay attention and thought he was bluffing. That's not the character's fault. And it doesn't mean he's written badly. He's not.

We just thought he wasn't gonna stand on business. Eren Yeager stood on that shit, 10 toes down. Genocide IS extreme (it always is, no doubt about it--and I'm not a fan of those who call Eren fans/appreciators genocide apologists because whoa??? Buddy, it's not that serious???? Again, we're not in school, we're not getting tested for morality or what have you, please take a chill pill. You're NOT getting a medal for being more moral or 'gooder' of a human than me because of . . . what character I like??????), but I get it. Don't blindly cheer him on but also: AOT Earth is NOT equivalent with our Earth. The cast is dealing with abnormal situations that we don't (people turning into giant weapons/human eating monsters, a government conspiracy to continue using SAID monsters, a even more secret plan by multiple world governments/nations to wipe out a defenseless island of people who have NO direct connection with the vile Empire that spawned them, etc etc). So if you're gonna put Eren on a crucifix, put the Marleyan government on that shit first. They LITERALLY are the reason why Eren's mom (and many innocent people) died/became mindless killers (the Titans), which made him want to kill them all in the first place. Put Grisha Yeager on that shit too, because he was a deadbeat ass father who ONLY had Eren just to pass on the Attack and Founding Titans BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD HIM TO. He's the same thing as Gaara's father from Naruto. Same reasons why they had their youngest sons. EXACT SAME. Unlike Rasa, Grisha never apologized to Eren. Not once for bringing him into such a cruel world, not once for forcing the Titan serum on him, not EVEN for SHORTENING HIS LIFESPAN (Eren would die at 23 or until someone else killed/ate him for his Titan powers), none of it. Annie, Reiner, Berthold--they BROKE. The wall. And allowed the Smiling Titan in--the same one that ate Eren's. Mom. Like, c'mon now!

Okay i get it that it's really upsetting that our favorite character is officially not coming back but saying some stuff like they don't care about Gege having a jjk exhibition and only want Gojo to comeback is beyond fuck up for me because like seriously???? Tbh Gege deserve this because of how wonderful and tragically beautiful jjk is needed to be shown and how beautiful his hardwork and his team did so they deserve to have this exhibition and i don't like seeing authors getting the hate saying they don't deserve this and their work is shitty like what happened to Isayama and besides the jjk exhibition for gege is important because he said he's goal is to make visitors to think they can draw too and that's really heart melting for me and some artists that given up on art.

For artists, having an exhibition is like having a dream come true, so I can't help but talk about it. Exhibitions are essential resources for artists working at any level. They enable you to exhibit your work in front of a viewing public so that others can see and enjoy it. Exhibitions frequently provide a great way to interact with visitors and Gege's goal is wanting for visitors to think they can draw manga too.

my favorite thing will always be domestic levi.

- waking up & seeing him buttoning his shirt in the mirror, having already showered before you due to his inability to sleep in.

- dragging him back into bed with you cus it’s barely 7:30 in the morning and you have all day with nothing to do.

- showering together, gently washing his hair and him kissing your shoulder and wrapping his arms around you from behind.

- he was very iffy on retiring at first, and it did take a lot of convincing before he finally decided it was time to leave the military and what it did to him in the past. he doesn’t cry a lot, but when he does, he cries hard. almost 40 years of pent-up trauma and emotion will do that to a man, even one as tough as him.

- you & him go to visit erwin and hange’s graves at least twice a month, and you find it slightly heartbreaking that he talks to them, the same way he did when they were alive. quiet and short conversations with what he hopes is their ghosts. you find yourself grabbing his hand and squeezing it when he starts getting shaky.

- sometimes when you can tell he’s in a bad mood, you say you need a hug, but it’s really him that needs it. he doesn’t like asking for affection, so it’s a way to help him get over a bump in the road.

- as most people say, he’s not big on pda, and it’s true, but he will hold your pinkies together when it’s crowded. you’ll think it’s because he doesn’t wanna lose you in the crowd, but he’s so short that he’ll be the one getting lost 💀

- with that being said, he hates it when you poke fun at his height. it’s not that he’s insecure about it, he just finds it annoying that that’s one of the first things people notice about him.

I hate how the consensus in the fandom is disliking Romione because "Ron isn't good enough for her". lmfaoo y'all, Hermione isn't good enough for HIM.

Remember guys, she got jealous that he was dating someone else and physically assaulted him until he bled. He had scratches. What the fuck was that and how did anyone read this scene and not think Hermione was a disgusting, abusive piece of trash? No because if Ron had been the one beating up Hermione like that you can BET people would've remembered it and held it against him forever (as they should!).

And I saw so many people defend Hermione saying shit like "oh i don't excuse her but it was understandable". She was just acting like "an irrational teenage girl"! Yeah uh no that was not just irrational teenager behaviour. Teenagers are emotional yes but most teenagers don't beat up their crush when they kiss someone else unless they have some serious disorder. Like, St Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys level of disorder. She actually needs to be locked up, asap. The most understandable depiction of violent teenage behaviour in HP was OotP, and Harry was literally traumatised. Rowling wants you to believe that Hermione, on the other hand, is supposed to be a well-adjusted teenager.

First of all, Harry Potter characters have the depth of a wet tissue, be fucking for real, second of all, that argument might hold water if the narrative held Hermione accountable and criticised her for what she did. but it didn't. The narrative blamed Ron. Ron is written as a flawed character, but Hermione isn't.

I love flawed characters, but I don't love flawed characters whose shit behaviour constantly get excused/validated by the author at all. They are actually the type of characters I despise the most. they become very unlikable and not in a fun way. If there's one thing in a story I can't stand it's inconsistent morality and the author playing favourites (looking at you Isayama)

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a world between "not being perfect" and being a genuinely abusive, bad person. HP1-3 Hermione is the former. HP6 Hermione is the latter. Ultimately, Rowling does intend for Hermione to be a good person. She kinda failed at portraying that. Hermione wasn't even shown as the bad guy for what she did! Harry felt a bit awkward 'cause he saw her cry and the narrative treated Ron like a jerk for daring to be interested in anyone other than Hermione and not realising she wanted him. How dare he! Nevermind that Hermione dated Viktor and Cormac. It's okay when she does it, but how dare he! Even when Rowling talks about these two, she thinks Ron is the one who needs to grow up and get himself together. He needs better friends. And a better author.

not late to the fandom, just really not updated. last time I was on the ackerman bond between Levi x Erwin was canonically proven, but I have seen people in the tags and some other comments say it was disproven later on. would you mind explaining to me what the hell happened? thank you very much for your existence in this eruri fandom <3 you are doing the titan's lord works!

Okay not so short summary…

The bond between the Ackermans and their lieges was first mentioned by Isayama in the Answers Guidebook which was published in 2016, the same week as chapter 84, Midnight Sun (boy was that a head fuck). In the book Isayama said: 

Isayama With the heroes of American comics, conflicts dealing with the situation “with great power, comes great responsibility” have been depicted. In Levi’s case, if he had no power, he would probably have been an ordinary person with no responsibilities but, as a consequence of having power, that he became a person excessively burdened with responsibility. Kenny talked about “everyone… was a slave to something…”, when he put the question to Levi “what is yours!?”, Levi himself too perceived it. That he himself too was a slave in regard to his own strength. The sense of duty that “I must become a hero”. …the same thing can be said of Mikasa too but…, for the Ackerman family, in the service of their master, there are many people who are able to manifest their power to its maximum. —Eh!? (surprise) About that, isn’t this information that hasn’t been talked about in the original story!! Certainly for Mikasa it’s Eren, for Kenny it’s Uri that is the lord/master-like existence… Isayama In Levi’s case, it’s Erwin. As the existence who surpasses him, he has acknowledged Erwin or how should I put it. That is the Ackerman lineage or rather, the instinctive part probably.

This became known as the “Ackerbond”, though that is a term that was made up by the fandom.  There is no explicit mention of the bond in the manga until chapter 112 when Eren tells Mikasa that she is a slave to her Ackerman instincts, who is compelled to follow her host’s orders without question. (Cue lots of hand wringing about the “abusive” nature of the Ackerbond.)

However later in chapter 130, in an extended flashback, Zeke tells Eren that there is no such thing as Ackermans having “ingrained behaviour” or “compelled instinct” to protect their “host”, and that the real reason that Mikasa shows him so much kindness and affection is that she loves him. 

For once, Zeke is right, as this ties in exactly with what Isayama went on to say about the Ackermans in the Answers book:

— Regarding Mikasa and Levi’s Ackerman family mystery, we’re also receiving more clarity! Can we say that Mikasa, Levi, Kenny are all part of the same Ackerman bloodline? Isayama: They are all part of the same Ackerman bloodline. However, their reasons for protecting their respective counterparts don’t have anything to do with the bloodline itself - it’s just their nature (laughs). Within the story, Mikasa and Levi almost have the guardian/knight-like roles, right? That’s because they encountered the existence of a “boss”-like individual, and the desire to work for that person is very in line with their personalities.

So there you have it.  The so-called Ackerbond isn’t mysterious blood magic that forces Ackermans to obey their host, however it is in their nature to devote their strength to an individual they choose, whose “existence surpasses them”.  Put in broad terms, Eren “surpasses” Mikasa because he gives her courage, safety, family, all things she has lost when they first meet.  Uri surpasses Kenny because he has unlimited power and compassion and sees the good in everyone.  And Erwin surpasses Levi because he has a cause to fight for, one that Levi can dedicate his strength to.  I once read someone describing the relationship between the Ackermans and their significant others as a particularly selfless form of love and a deep seated desire to protect, which seems to hit the nail right on the head.

Let's start with the lovely cover of this fanfic. It was made by the talented @catyypss. She was the sweetest and I'm truly obsessed with it. Having that said, this work has been collecting dust for a while and even though I started writing the first chapter back in May, I finally got the courage to release it now because you know, lack of time. because I procrastinate a lot and I am a chicken too.

Now, onto the fic.

Let's start by saying/informing that I used she/her pronouns for Hange in this fic. Second, I have many head canons about Hange's past, since Isayama was SO kind of NOT giving us a backstory way to love the fourteenth commander. I have good head canons but I also have bad and heavy ones.

And I decided to explore the bad ones.

I do believe Hange talks a lot because her parents didn't pay attention to her growing up. Hange would be the type to overshare and then regret it because you know... trauma. I tried to explore that shattered relationship between Hange and her parents but also a life away from them.

We also have Levi, who suffers from older sibling syndrome. Protector, with an obsession in his case for cleaning, desire for perfection, and pressure to meet his parents' expectations; something that his little sister, Mikasa yes, they're siblings here is tired of experiencing.

A slice of life, like they say on the streets. You can place two fucked up people in a room and they can bond over trauma, right? Those are the topics I TRIED to explore in this fic. It has a little angst, but I incorporated some fluff too.

Considering how Isayama basically never draws fanservice of the female characters in his manga (he's a much bigger fan of giving all the fanservice to the male characters, drawing them all half naked lmao). It is interesting that the only real exception is Isayama putting slight emphasis on the fact that Annie has a very nice and particularly big butt.

The female titan form spoke for itself but then the fact that Reiner literally comments on how nice it is and then post-timeskip Isayama went out of his way to draw Annie's ass fuller and rounder compared to most of the cast where he just draws a majority of them flat as pancakes. It's also especially noticeable on Annie because of how short she is 😭.

But hey I'm not complaining that Annie canonically has the best and nicest ass in the series. I love that for my girl and I'm sure Armin loves it too 😏

Hahahaha xD Everybody in the community will agree with you anon, most of all Clouds! She will tell you that Annie's ass is very very special and it's true.

Reiner's "Nice Ass" comment still manages to take me the fuck out lmao, especially because Armin was right there. As a whole Annie's construction and design is very striking in all respects, and the fact that she has a very nice butt (that MAPPA was too much of a coward to show in many scenes) is only icing on the cake.

Do Erehisus and Eremikas even like Historia and Mikasa

I think that Eremika (Eren × Mikasa) is an okay ship. I appreciate what Isayama was trying to do but the execution was less than pleasurable.

The whole point is that despite being in love with each other, Eren and Mikasa cannot be together. Their goals, their characters simply contradict.

Eren is focused on moving forward, he can't appreciate what was beside him (Mikasa). He can't even think that Mikasa would ever leave him until 139. Settling down, a domestic homelife is unappealing.

Mikasa is controlled by fear, after losing her family twice (first by the kidnappers then the fall of Shiganshina) which is what causes her obsession with Eren. Despite her strength, all she wants is a quiet life. Her arc is about overcoming fear, she kills Eren but keeps him alive with her memories. She gives birth to new life with Jean, starting a new eternal family.

But fuck that shit!

The slutshaming of Mikasa

Mikasa has been shamed by die hard Eremika shippers for "spreading her legs" and daring to find a new man after Eren. All those themes, character arcs, non of it matters to these misogynists.

Some of them have even gone on to lie and say that Mikasa is wearing a purity ring and not a wedding ring, because a woman is sinful if she's not a virgin.

The denial that she got married to most likely Jean is insane too. Armin is not that tall and the anime even adds a blurry scene of him in the credits. The hubby is not blonde either, I eyedropped his hair and it's green due to the lighting. Looks like dirty blonde hair mixed with green to me.

They also do the whole Jojo fan thing of creating fake interviews, no Isayama did not confirm that the man is Armin or she is single.

They want her to remain obsessed with Eren for eternity and grieving.

They do not like Mikasa, they just like their ship.

Eren and the aryan waifu

I have a strong dislike for Erehisu (Eren × Historia) due to redditors.

The biggest reason is that it's pure fantasy. The themes, characters, everything was made up. The largest example of mass delusion in modern day history.

They project themselves unto Eren, the chad that after destroying all his enemies returns home an settles down with his aryan wife and child.

Historia can't have any importance except for giving birth to Eren's kid. Ymir is presented as a predator for tempting Historia into lesbianism, Eren fucking her is the cure.

It only seems like they "like" Historia because they despise Mikasa. Mikasa is Asian instead of white, and she will be punished for her love for Eren by being cucked and dying by his hand.

All these fantasises of Historia hating Mikasa, calling her a slave. Historia who in canon jokingly teased Mikasa for her crush on Eren and shipped the two would never.

It is once again pure misogyny.

Not complete white not complete black with prominent shadows, because every major character in the show is grey and one half of each partnership likes to lurk in shadows...This just highlights that things won't always be merry and colourful, but they won't completely be helpless...

We knew Aya was going to jump... Glad she was oh so delicately caught by Aku... I didn't think it was possible to clear everything in one episode, but expect the unexpected i guess...

And the main part of Dazai being alive and kicking...No but really, this is such a relief...

I kinda had the whole thing in the back of my mind that they can't kill Dazai, he is necessary for the plot armour to plot armour and all that shit...

But there was equal chances of Asagiri taking notes from Isayama or Gege and just decide, fuck it... let's keep him dead....If not the confirmed dead thing, then the dead till stated otherwise route that Hori took.

But i'm soooo glad Asagiri didn't do that!!!

But like i said, most characters in this show are grey... But there was none of Fukuchi's shade, and i didn't like it, even if in the end he wanted peace.

A mellow breeze blew against your face, making your horse’s mane dance freely. Above, the clouds drifted lazily across the blue sky. And beneath them, vast grasslands extended into infinity. Or until wherever the walls allowed them to, for that matter. But if the walls weren’t there and you didn’t know any better, you would be forgiven for thinking you were a character in one of those fairytale books you liked to read as a little girl. But sadly, you knew better, you knew this was no fairytale kingdom, and you also knew that no castle stood at the end of the road, and most definitely no prince on a white horse awaited for you.

The Garrison was the lukewarm option. You tried to rationalize your seemingly impulsive, and potentially deadly, decision. You didn’t like lukewarm. No, actually it wasn’t that you didn’t like lukewarm, it was more like you were physically unable to understand the concept itself. You operated under this strict all-in-or-nothing policy that you were sure would eventually lead to your own demise. But hey, if you were going to die eaten by a titan anyway, you might as well choose the cool way out and die with the wings of freedom attached to your back. They were rather cool. You inspected the hunter green cloak you now wore, and something about the way it blew in the wind pleased you.

But despite the fair weather, you knew it wouldn’t take long for your busy brain to find something that didn’t please you. And sure enough, this time it came in the form of that sinking feeling that seemed to originate in the pit of your stomach every time you tried to imagine what your new lifestyle would be like. You weren’t even there, yet you already felt so inadequate and scant. You dreaded feeling incompetent. You dreaded being perceived as pathetic and useless. And yet you had voluntarily placed yourself in the optimal situation for that to happen.

It also didn’t help that your now fellow soldiers were none other than the top students of the pack. You liked them. They were nice. But it was just too much. Reiner was an absolute unit. Mikasa, a force to be reckoned with. Armin, clever beyond logic. Jean, a natural leader. And Eren, well, the boy was a fucking titan.

You wanted to sigh so deep and so loud to see if it would relieve some of the tightness in your chest. So you did.

“We’re almost there, soldier.” Your superior said along with a reassuring smile, which you tried your best to reciprocate.

And he wasn’t lying. In the distance, nestled in a pine forest, an imposing stone structure started to grow in size as you approached, getting bigger and bigger until you finally reached its gates. And there it stood, rising proudly among the tall trees: The Survey Corps headquarters, and your new home.

It did kind of look like a fairytale castle after all, you thought. Very old, very tall and very…

“Don’t be too impressed” your superior warned “It’s nothing more than an old converted castle. Charming in its way, sure…”

“Okay, everyone, take your horses to the stables and feed them. Then come back and meet me here. We’ll start with the interviews right away.”

Interviews. Great. As if the pit in your stomach needed any more reason to grow larger.

Actually… maybe it was a good thing, you thought. You could be honest and upfront with them from the start and cut the bullshit right and there. No false expectations meant no disappointments awaited farther along the way. And if Erwin Smith’s speech was anything to go by, the scouts seemed to be very upfront about everything. You were a scout now, you might as well do it the scouts’ way.

“Sir, I’m not proficient at hand-to-hand combat and my physical skills are restricted” Very restricted. “I do handle the ODM gear well. And what I mean by ‘well’ is ‘with the steadiness and precision that is expected from a Training Corps graduate so that it can take them from point A to point B without major inconveniences’” this was true, otherwise Shadis would have never let you graduate, and given the fact that you just quoted the exact same words he repeated to you over and over again, you wondered if he would have been proud “my stamina and endurance, however, decline rather quickly.” Very quickly. “Therefore I don’t think I will be of significant assistance out there in the field. Please consider this if and when you are planning to send me out there, as I might get devoured by a titan a mere 5 minutes into the expedition.” You stated in a flat, matter-of-factly manner. “I have been told by my evaluators that my organizational skills are outstanding, and that my academic performance is satisfactory. Please note that this doesn’t necessarily equal intelligence, just responsibility.” That’s why I thought the MP would be the perfect place for me. But saying that would be inappropriate, wouldn’t it?

The two veterans interviewing you stared back at you with underlying suspicion. They must have thought that you were trying to downplay your abilities in order to avoid putting your life at risk. But if they did, then they must have been too polite to tell you because the next thing the man said was “Okay. We also deal with tons of paperwork here. And cleaning, repairing, cooking, tending the horses. You name it.”

“Don’t worry, we’ll find something you can help with.” said the woman beside him.

Fair. You thought. This was a big castle. Surely there was something for you to do.

The sound of footsteps on solid timber floors echoed in the empty hall along with the lines you had put together the night before. Outside, songbirds had already began to sing their melodies to the beat of the delicate raindrops falling upon the roof.

You had always found peace in that kind of weather. ‘The rain melts all the troubles away’ was something you told an old diary once. But maybe it wasn’t the rain, maybe it was your honest confession from a couple of days ago the one to thank for lightening the burden. After you were done with your interview, it felt as if a building had been lifted off your shoulders. At least partially. But whatever the reason, you realized you hadn’t felt optimistic in days, so the sensation felt as foreign as it was welcome.

You also realized you had done pretty much nothing but complain to yourself since your goal of joining the Military Police proved to be unattainable. And by the second morning in your new home, your pessimistic approach had already started to get old. One of the only perks of getting tired easily, you thought as your featherlight optimism knocked on the solid wood.

“Come in” said a voice you had heard quite a few times in recent days, mostly inside your head.

The blond man sitting at his desk looked up as you announced yourself. And that was the first time icy blue eyes met yours.

There’s no need to write a pathetic piece desperately trying to downplay Hanji’s impact to Levi. Erwin and Hanji are both important to him. THATS FUCKING CANON! I’m so tired reading the same “Levi encouraged Erwin to use Hanjis squad as a bait to save his life. Therefore Levi doesn’t give a shit about Hanji and is in love with Erwin.” ERWIN IS THEIR COMMANDER AND HIS SAFETY IS A PRIORITY! That's literally how the military chain of command is preserved! Hanji would’ve done the same thing in Levi’s place without a doubt. ”Levi still mentions Erwin even though he is dead for four years.” DUUUUHHH?!Of course he still thinks about him and his promise to him! All the scouts along with Erwin died to give him the opportunity to kill zeke and he fucking failed! Of course he is eager to finish the job! And for the love of god stop using the “I’m championing for LGBT ships and you are dismissing roori becase they are gay.” Girl,roori is the least dismissed ship out there. They are literally one of the biggest army of shippers out there and theres no shortage of people defending them all the time. Also, levihan isn’t a even a straight ship?! I have a lot to say about every paragraph of that post, but i honestly don't care for wasting my time on someone who chooses to read the manga with their eyes closed.

Remember when that central MP told Levi that Erwin is captured and will be hanged and offered to let him go if he just gives himself in? Levi said "no", even though he should want to protect Erwin's life no matter what according to them, right? Instead Levi said "Some lives are more valuable than the others.". At that moment he prioritized the lives of Eren and Historia over Erwin.

Also "he never thought about Hange" after they died is hilariously incorrect. He told Hange to "keep watching". He followed their theory that killing Zeke might sever Eren's connection to the paths and stop the rumbling. He also used the knowledge he got from them to quickly asses that the Ackermans and shifters are immune to the titan gas and lead everyone to kill Eren.

He literally thought about them as he was having his internal monologue. They were at the front of his mind so to speak and the only active character in the panels, while everyone else was a passive listener.

He saw them among every other survey corps member when he gave them his final salute.

Years later he saw a plane fly by that reminded him of the day he lost them and erooris clowning about that panel saying "HaNgE iS A PLaNe" are just completely braindead and don't understand literary symbolism.

There are too many scenes that showed Levi cares deeply about Hange and the fact he prioritized **the freaking commander of the survey corps** at some point does not negate that he has almost been hit by Zeke's rocks worrying about their safety and that he stopped in the middle of an intense battle to make Armin protect them when they got injured.

In the forest afrer finding out what happened to Zeke (because Zeke was the last thing he remembers before the explosion??) he immediately brought the conversation to Hange's expressed feelings and gave them much needed encouragement.

Anyway. Erooris clearly are seething because all they have is the promise which, although was made to Erwin,was really about All the dead survey corps members. The moment between them was nowhere near on the level of intimacy and vulnerability that 126 and 132 had. They are clearly green with envy.

When the shippes choose to talk shit about "a rival ship" rather than talking about their own content this is how you know they have no leg to stand on.

Yes, Levi cared about Erwin deeply, yes, his loyalty to him was amazing, but he has done things to Hange he has done to nobody else and Hange was the only person who witnessed him at his most vulnerable and soft and all of it was meant for them alone.

You stood by Petra as we stared unimpressed at Oulo, who had a handkerchief in his mouth. We had arrived at the old Survey Corps headquarters. It appeared to be an old castle that the Scouts had remodelled, but it was also so far away from any other signs of life that you had decided it was the best place to hide Eren. "It's no wonder you bit your tongue, talking up a storm while riding a horse!" Petra complained as we looked down to where Oulo sat in pain. "First impressions are important," he replied, "The new kid almost pissed his pants." You rolled your eyes, "I think Eren's just surprised at how dumb you are," you muttered. "Either way, my plan worked," Oulo continued, sitting with an overly smug attitude, causing Petra to look at him in disdain.

"You didn't always talk like that, did you? If... if you're seriously doing it to imitate Captain Levi, please stop. You're nothing like him," She continued, looking down at him whilst Oluo looked up with a twitching smile before meeting your eyes. He then puts a smirk on his face and looks up at you suggestively, "What about you [y/n]? I know you can tell that Levi and I aren't too much different. If you wanted to be my wife, I would happily-" but before you could do anything, Petra had beaten you to the punch, smacking him on the back of the head, making Oulo forget his... disturbing intentions. "He should have bit his tongue and died," she muttered, causing you to laugh as you both walked away from the man now clutching his head. "Besides, we know there's only one man for you, right Captain~?" Petra smirked as she nodded towards the raven-haired man who had just finished putting his horse away. You feel warmth rush to your cheeks before rolling your eyes and telling her to shut up despite her still hushed teasing.

We walked up the grounds, and you noticed the state of the headquarters, seeing Gunther and Eld, who had also been looking around. "Look at all these weeds." You hear Gunther say, "It hasn't been used for years; the inside is probably dusty, too." You walk up to them and put one hand on each of their shoulders, smiling devilishly as they look down questioningly at you. "You know what that means, boys?" You say as you turn them around. Sure enough, Levi had approached us; his mood already darkened. "We begin immediately."

Soon enough, the members of our squad were out and about sweeping, wiping windows, weeding, and waiting for Levi to inspect their handiwork. You hear the sound of windows opening and turn to see said man in his cleaning attire, white clothing covering his mouth and one on his head. You let out a laugh under your breath. Levi looked up, his eyes narrowing towards you, "And what's so fucking funny?" You let out another laugh as you walked up to him, noticing that the cloth on his head had a slight tilt to it. "Nothing," you say, as you reach up and concentrate on fixing the cloth, trying to ignore your proximity, as he slightly stiffened before relaxing under your gentle touch. You smile at him, putting your hands on your hips and admiring your work, "this is just my favourite look on you," you tease as you notice a bit of colour reach his cheeks before his eyes narrow further. "Tch, shut up and start cleaning unless you wanna sleep with the shitty horses tonight."

You can't help but widen your smile at his avoidant stare before quickly grabbing a broom and helping Levi clean the room. As he started on the windows, a comfortable silence replaced our prior bickering. You wouldn't ever admit it to him, but after living with him since you were kids, and the almost two decades worth of years spent together, you have started to enjoy these simpler moments with him; more so now as you face death every day with the threat of the Titans. It was familiar and almost therapeutic; it took you back to years ago when Furlan and Isabel were with you, cleaning your makeshift home in the Underground.

Isabel always complained at Levi's strict demeanour, which was always so specific with areas she had left not to his standards, and Furlan and you would laugh at the scene and Levi's growing irritation at the noise. You could almost hear Isabel saying, "Big sis, big sis." She would look up with that doe look in her eyes, complaining about Levi's cleaning and ignoring his glare down your back. You would follow her and help her with the areas she had to redo. Even back then, Levi had always been impressed by your cleaning skills, to which Furlan would glare at you in jealousy whilst you would give him a shit-eating smirk. It was one of the best compliments you received from Levi, though it was rare to hear him compliment at all. You feel your heart churn at the thought. Six years it had been; was it already that long ago? Still, you miss them. Still, you hope this is all a dream, that you will wake up the day of that Exhibition and drag them all away.

You feel a slight mist meet your eyes, but you continue to stare at the movement of the broom in front of you. Sometimes, you wish you had the composure Levi had. You had known him for almost twenty years now, and you knew more than most that he had a heavy internal turmoil. You would dare say heavier than anyone you know, but at least he would hold his emotions well. I’m a Captain, for God's sake, and I'm letting these memories eat up at me. You sigh, knowing you have gone too far down the rabbit hole that was your past. You quickly shook your head, following the line of dust on the floor, not noticing approaching footsteps until you felt a soft touch on your head. You looked up to see that Levi had yet again noticed your internal debate, but his eyes were softer than before, and you could tell he knew what you were thinking. You can't find it in you to smile like you usually do, so you grab the hand by his side and squeeze it softly. You stayed unmoving for a few seconds before you looked up, giving him a grateful smile and nodding in silent reassurance as you both continued cleaning.

A few hours passed, and you and Levi had gone through many rooms, now working on a new one. We had taken turns checking on other squad members and the areas they had cleaned, and you could say that Levi had truly influenced them to do well, only picking up on slight things you thought he would notice. He had only really trusted you when it came to things like that, which made you smile softly to yourself. A few moments passed, and you heard the sound of footsteps turning the hall; it was Eren. "I've finished cleaning the upper floor," he then looked from you to Levi, "where should I sleep?" Levi took the cloth from around his mouth down and maintained his usual deadpan stare as he replied. "You sleep in the basement."

Eren seemed to deflate at that, "In the basement, again?" Levi didn't falter, "Of course. You can't control yourself. If you're underground, we can contain you if you turn into a Titan while half-asleep." Eren looks at you, hoping for a different answer, but you smile apologetically, "That was one of the conditions of your coming here. It's a rule you'll have to follow, I'm sorry Eren." Eren nods in understanding as Levi starts to walk out towards the exit door, "I'll inspect the rooms, Eren. Take over here with [y/n] till I get back." Levi nods subtly towards you, and he walks off out of the room. Eren sighs with an obvious look of dismay.

"You seem disappointed, Eren." Eren looks up to see you smile up at him as his face flushes pink before calming slightly. "C-Captain? Did I really look that disappointed?" You laugh at Eren's bewildered face before you continue, "It's not too uncommon, you know. He isn't the perfect hero everyone says he is, right?" You then look fondly out the door where he had left, Eren looking curiously at you, "The real Le- Captain Levi," you say, "is smaller, high-strung and more violent than people may think. He is an intimidating man, but don't let that get to you." Eren nods slightly, "I was just surprised how closely he listens to orders from the higher-ups," he replies, and you nod understandably.

"He's powerful and influential. It's true he doesn't seem like one that would let such formalities hold him back." Eren nods, "I thought he wouldn't take orders from anyone." You laugh under your breath, knowing too well how much Levi used to despise taking orders, especially from those he doesn't respect. "Yeah," you say, smiling softly, "I don't want to share too much for his sake, but he used to be like the man you describe right now. Before he came to the Survey Corps, he was from the Underground; in fact," you grin, "that's where we met. He was a famous Underground thug and I was also well-known when our paths crossed." Eren looked up surprised, but you could tell he was connecting the dots as to why you and Levi were so close, especially seeing how closed off the man could be. "Why would someone like that... why would the two of you..." you smile as confusion mingled in his eyes, "Hmm, that's something I can't share," you remember back to the Exhibition and what happened after its tragic events. "But it was ultimately Commander Erwin, I think, that made us join the Survey Corps." Eren looked up, intrigued, "Commander Erwin?"

You hear footsteps behind you and turn to see Levi approach us, "Hey, Eren," you see the brunette turn rigid as he replies, "Y- Yes, sir." Levi enters, frowning, "That isn't nearly good enough." His expression then darkens, "Redo the whole thing." Eren freezes, seemingly deflating further at the words, looking between the two of you, but Levi's grimace does not falter. You grin, patting him on the back slightly, "You heard the man."

The sun had since fallen, and darkness swept the building as we all sat around a wooden table, each with a cup of tea in front of us. "We'll be on standby for a few more days. I heard we're already planning a large-scale expedition beyond the walls in a month." Eld spoke first, breaking the silence, "Not to mention, we'll be bringing this year's graduates along, too." Gunther looks up, "Is that true, Eld? That's pretty sudden. That Titan attack must've taken a toll on all the new troops." You swirl the cup of tea in your hands before speaking, "It's true; they will be joining us at the Exhibition." You notice Eren look up, worry clear in his eyes for the comrades he has grown and trained with. "It probably terrified the brats," Oulo muttered, taking his cup of tea in his hand.

Levi then spoke up from the head of the table beside you, "I'm not in charge of making the plans, but this is Erwin. He probably has more on his mind than we could imagine." Eld looked up at the candles, "it's true that the situation has changed. I'd thought that all of our sacrifices thus far to lay a route to retake Maria had been negated by a single blow. But now we have an entirely different hope." He glances at Eren, who sits up at Eld's words. "I still can't believe it. But what do they mean when they say you turn into a Titan, Eren?" He looks at the boy whose eyes are concentrated on the table in front of him. "I don't really remember what happened. I was so desperate, I couldn't think... but the trigger was a self-inflicted injury. I take my hand like this and..." he trailed off, eyes sparking as he seemed lost in his thoughts.

You sigh, "You guys already know Eren has given us all the information he can in the reports." Levi nods, "Though I'm sure a certain someone has other ideas," he mutters before reaching for his cup in the overhanded way he usually does and taking a sip. "Maybe even fiddle around and kill you, Eren," Levi finished, putting his cup on the table. Ah, you think, he does have a point. Eren stiffens, "someone...?" We hear the clatter of movement, and the door behind Eren is pulled open by Petra, to reveal none other than Hange. "Hello. Levi and [y/n] squad... How are you enjoying the castle?" You let out a laugh, "hey, Hange," they grin at you before continuing forward, "you're early," Levi mutters, but Hange pays him no attention. "I couldn't wait any longer," they continued straight to Eren, who looked up in surprise. "Hey there, Eren... I'm in charge of investigating the two Titans we've captured in town, and I'd like you to help with tomorrow's experiments." They smiled at him, "I came to get permission."

Eren looked up, having a rightfully concerned look on his face, "Experiments? What would you be doing-" Hange interrupted with her usual glee, "Something totally awesome!" Their face becomes flushed as sparkles are literally projected from beyond their glasses. You sweatdrop again from their antics as Eren replies, "W-well, I can't give permission for myself. I don't have the authority..." Hange quickly turns to Levi, barely listening, "Levi, what's Eren doing tomorrow?" Levi looks up with a bored look on his face, "cleaning the courtyard." Hange seems to perk up at that, "Okay, then! It's settled!" They take Eren's hand in theirs, glasses shining earnestly, "Eren... See you tomorrow!" Eren looked up hesitantly, "R-right... but what do you mean by experiments with Titans?"

"Hmm?" Hange turns to the boy swiftly and you sigh, knowing where this is going. "U-um, what kind of experiments..." Oluo stiffens, "Oi, stop... don't ask!" Looking up, you already see the damage has been done and quickly drink the rest of your tea as Hange looks to Eren with a borderline creepy look on their face, eyes barely visible now. "I knew it. I thought you looked like you wanted to hear... " You get up swiftly, followed by Levi and the rest of the squad, and give Eren a sympathetic smile as he looks bewildered at the sudden absence of everyone but Hange in the room.

The group of us wandered down the hallways, ready to call it a night. "I feel sorry for Eren, though," you hear Petra mutter next to you; you laugh as it turns into a smile. "Hmm, Hange has always been odd, but they have their goals, too," you look up at the ceiling, Oluo and Levi in front, Eld and Gunther behind us, "who knows, maybe their experiments will help humanity somehow." You see Eld shake his head at your words, "Well, odd isn't exactly how I'd describe Squad Leader Hange." You laugh slightly as Gunther speaks up, "Eren did seem interested in the experiments, though." You nod, agreeing, "I mean, who wouldn't if they heard they're gonna be experimented on by Hange." Petra glances at you in agreement, "I'd be worried they get too carried away and do some sort of permanent damage." You put your arm around Petras slightly in reassurance as you hear Levi reply, "Tch if they haven't talked Eren to death, I don't think anything will kill him."

We continued down the hallway, Oluo moving slightly behind Levi as he tried to copy the way he walked, not that there was much to it, causing Petra and you to wack him over the head. Eld started laughing, causing Petra and you to join in. Even Gunther cracked a smile while Oluo clutched his head, complaining about the brain damage he was going to get, which, of course, turned to Petra telling him there were no brain cells left to damage anyway. Despite agreeing, you patted Oluo on the back as he seemed dejected once again; of course, he quickly perked up at that, though, telling you he knew "his Captain" had come to my senses or some shit. You saw Levi tense slightly, but this time, it was Eld and Gunther who thwacked him in the back, causing another fit of laughter.

You looked up to see that Levi had turned scarcely, catching your eye. You give him a grin amongst the laughter around you, remembering what had happened earlier today. You were so grateful to have him and the squad in your life despite everything. Your heart lurched a bit, seeing his lips slightly turn upwards, but before anyone else noticed, he turned back around. As we said our goodnights and went to our respective rooms, you couldn't help but smile softly as you fell asleep, glad to have had a peaceful day for once.
