maxverstappen1: i get why the americans don’t play about the statue of liberty

user3: i feel lonely year round because of them but it’s SO much worse during halloween
user4: they are the definition of the couple costume they invented it and they PERFECTED it
landonorris: i thought your apartment was a safe space, why did i get harassed over my costume?
yourusername: it was more of the lack of costume? “streamer” does not count
landonorris: who actually dresses up to carve pumpkins?
maxverstappen1: COOL PEOPLE
yourusername: imagine not dressing up and having an awful pumpkin … could never be me
landonorris: STOP BULLYING ME

charles_leclerc: remind me to never accept an invite to a halloween event at the verstappen-l/n household - far TOO much stress

oscarpiastri: oops.
maxverstappen1: you fared better than others on their rookie halloween appearance, just ask lando and charles
landonorris: you told me there was no alcohol in the jelly so it's not my fault i ate the whole bowl and threw up in your shower
yourusername: wow way to blame the victims there lando, you literally blocked the drain
landonorris: MAX SAID THERE WAS NO ALCOHOL
yourusername: it was labelled with the ingredients. you just can't read
landonorris: no comment
yourusername: and charles got so drunk that he decided he would sleep on the couch but got 'lonely' and insisted on cuddling with us
charles_leclerc: Y/N!!!! YOU SAID YOU'D KEEP THAT A SECRET
maxverstappen1: don't worry we thought it was cute
carlossainz55: wait is that why you came as a "cuddle bug" this year?
charles_leclerc: NO
alexalbon: and that must be why he got best costume RIGGORY

alexalbon: ALEX ALBON APPLE BOBBING CHAMP FOUR YEARS IN A ROW
charles_leclerc: i won best costume and it's purely because i'm cute cause NO one there knew about my cuddling escapades last year
landonorris: ugh pretty privilege back at it again
charles_leclerc: jealousy is a disease get well soon
oscarpiastri: my pumpkin ended up winning !! turns out people love a kangaroo in the ghostface mask
maxverstappen1: first rookie to win that title (i am so impressed by the kangaroo)
yourusername: you were actually so good you have to help me with all the decorative ones next year
oscarpiastri: i'm in
user21: but who won the real award - most embarrassing moment?
maxverstappen1: daniel got stuck in the door in his inflatable horse/cowboy costume
danielricciardo: NO esteban dressing as the cheese string man was worse
estebanocon: that's real creativity at least i didn't fall asleep in the bath like carlos
yourusername: not to gang up on carlos but the blanket you took in their is damaged beyond repair and i request a replacement
carlossainz55: fair, but it was me, lando and george in the tub
georgerussell63: fake news @carmenmundt
carmenmundt: i was also at the party babe, it was impressive how you all fit in there
user22: the fact they do all of this and race like two weeks later and the teams just deal with it
maxverstappen1: we've done much worse on race weekends
yourusername: someone didn't have to try and get home after abu dhabi 2021, halloween is nothing compared to that

note: a lil halloween one for you all. i also DO NOT PLAY ABOUT HALLOWEEN. and am currently planning my costume lol. just wanted to get a small one out before all my work comes in tomorrow, much love xx

Hi! Can I have a croissant alongside a banana bread with a side of vodka shot with Toto Wolff please?
bakery menu
want to submit your own order? check out the menu! i write for more than just formula one so hit me with it! thank you to his anon for the lovely order and i hope you love it! this was a pleasure to write!! <3
croissant ("i wonder if your father knows what happens during the off hours. if he knows you're here with me.") + banana bread ("i'm going to fuck that sweet pussy of yours until the only word your little brain can form is my name.") + vodka shot (rough sex) served by toto wolff (formula one)!
cw: smut/pwp, age gap (20s/50s), horner!reader, daddy kink, daddy issues, yacht sex, references to lestappen, clothed male/naked woman
Tumblr media
rumors were a dirty thing on the grid. they could hurt people and there were efforts to keep them from spreading too far. this was less of a rumor and more of an open secret that no one really acknowledged.
if they did, that meant having to know that chrisitan horner's daughter was sleeping with toto wolff.
you liked toto, you had for some time. there was something about him that drew you in. those large hands, that smile, how determined he was to his job. he was a dedicated man.
just like he was dedicated to making you feel good in all aspects.
it was summer break for formula one, and while your father was in england for the time being. you were in monaco under the guise of seeing friends. your father was hesitant to let you go away for so long, it was a long time away.
"be safe. not too much partying. i need you to call me or at least text me. and if any of those driver boys try to get too close, do not hesitate to hit, punch or whatever."
you nodded as you held you carry on bag close to your chest, "i know, daddy. don't worry!" it wasn't even like you had any interest in any of those drivers, older than you were like old man and younger than you were like annoying younger brothers.
plus, you were already taken.
not that your father knew that. when you hugged him before getting into the car to the airport, you felt giddy. you were constantly texting toto when you got on the phone. thankfully the plane ride wasn't too long and your loving boyfriend met you at the airport in nice.
you giggled and ran into the man's arms.
it was a beautiful sunny afternoon when toto took you out on the boat. but his eyes were on more than just the water as he got everything ready. the sight of you in a white two-piece swimsuit.
you giggled when he took you by the waist, the boat still at the dock. you curled into him and held onto the front of his white button up.
he said to you as he took you by the chin, "i wonder if your father knows what happens during the off hours. if he knows you're here with me."
you shook your head, "no, no. he thinks i'm with friends. i have to get verstappen to cover for me so my father will be less worried." you got on your tip-toes and kissed him on the lips.
"oh, so you told verstappen. i thought this was supposed to be a secret."
you tapped your lover's nose, "mutual agreement." you giggled, "if he tried to go to the press about us." you smiled brightly, "i have something ten times worse."
toto got closer to in your space and asked, "and what exactly what would that be?" curiosity got the best of him. usually he didn't get into the affairs of drivers, especially if they weren't working for him.
you shrugged, "remember that text message i got from him about that emergency, because he was stuck at that hotel near where we were?"
toto's hands rubbed your shoulders as he said, "yes. i remember that."
"yeah, he was stuck with leclerc." you smiled, "so, we have a mutual agreement to not spill the beans about the other." you leaned in to kiss toto on the lips, "my father may have a meltdown if he knew we were together. he'd burst a blood vessel if charles and max came out." but you said, "i'm happy for them." then kissed toto on the lips again.
the man wrapped his arms around you and held you close to him. he enjoyed the feeling of your lips against him. your body warmed from the sun against him.
you were barely clothed and he was still in a button up and pants. he placed a large hand on your ass and gave it a squeeze. he looked down at you and smiled, "you look very beautiful." he said to you.
"you're not too bad yourself. i thought about wearing that 'tacky' swimsuit i got online that one time just to rile you up." you giggled.
toto's lips were on your neck as he placed both hands on your ass. then gave the cheeks a squeeze, "i told you to not wear that."
it was a two piece swimsuit that was barely held together by strings. but the pattern on the cups and bottoms were of off-brand hot sauce bottles. toto had bought you so many nice swimsuits over your time together, so there was no need to wear it.
"but, why it shows how spicy i am." you winked.
he groaned and shook his head, "schatzi, please." he got you on the couch that was on the deck and had his hands on your hips. he leaned in and kissed you on the lips.
you two were in the semi-public, but it would be hard to see unless someone is right next to the boat. it only made it more erotic to you, the possibility of someone seeing.
you straddled his waist and rubbed your barely clothed pussy up against his lap which made the older man groan. he knew that this shouldn't be happening. it was bad enough he was wrapped around the fingers of a woman young enough to be his daughter, but on top that you were the daughter of one of his bigger rivals.
but the way you melted in his arms and rubbed against his cock made him feel otherwise, in all fairness, you were a legal adult who could make her own choices. even if your father was a little protective.
you kissed him square on the mouth and he took you by the hips. he rubbed his clothed cock up against you. you groaned a little bit and kissed him more.
"you're prettier when you're on top." he chuckled as he massaged your hips, "but you always know that you could end up underneath me at anytime. because you're a good girl, right? my good girl."
you nodded, feeling the heat in your cheeks. you rubbed up a little further and said, "of course, toto."
he reached and tapped your nose, "toto?" he tilted his head to the side, "there's another name you like to call me, no?"
you swallowed, "you're an insatiable old man."
he pressed himself further against you and replied, "i may be, schatzi. but i'm still your daddy."
you blushed further before you took off the swimsuit top and he groped at your breasts with his large hands. he groaned a little bit before he grabbed onto your hips then pushed down the bottoms off of you.
you were naked and working to get toto's cock out of his pants. you swallowed when you caught sight of it. you stroked it softly and he shuddered. all you had to say about his cock was that it was proportionate to his over six foot frame.
"i'm going to fuck that sweet pussy of yours until the only word your little brain can form is my name." he said.
"mmm, please." you whimpered.
he rubbed the back of your head and smiled at you as you gazed at his cock. you two were out in the open, but had a bit of privacy to continue your little affairs. you kissed him deeply as he seated you onto his cock.
his jaw tensed at the feeling of your slick pussy around his cock. you were a dream, he couldn't believe that horner's daughter was the woman of his dreams. but as he groped your soft flesh, that didn't matter. all he wanted was you, he wanted the pretty little thing that bounces on his cock with ease.
you whimpered and dug your fingers into the meat of his shoulders. you rolled your hips up and down his cock. you said, "shit, daddy! ah! please"
he hissed through his teeth when his cock nudged against some of the softest parts of you. he groaned and buried his face into your breasts as he moved against you.
the two of you moved in time with each other. you could feel his teeth against your breasts which only turned you on more. he felt so good, it was like a little addiction.
"daddy, ah!" you whimpered.
"you're so beautiful." he said, "when i saw you on the track, it took everything in my power not to lead you away from your father and fuck the daylights out of you."
you groaned, "c'mon daddy, don't talk about him right now. i need your cock more than anything." you whimpered as you continued to move up and down on his cock.
it felt so snug inside of you and the pace you were using was rough. but it excited you, it made you hot all over. your breasts bounced in front of his face, it was very hot.
"fuck, please. you are so fucking good, daddy. it's not fair. no one else has ever been able to fuck me the way you do." you whined. your sexual history was primarily made up of interactions with toto.
he had to taught you most of what you knew about sex, at least in a pleasurable sense. he was the first person to make you cum. you thought that orgasms were reserved for you and your toys. but toto proved you wrong.
"i need you daddy." you whimpered.
"you have me." he replied as he continued to kiss you. his kisses lingered on your collarbones as you rode him. it felt so good. he was a divine lover.
you kept up your pace and felt the pleasure course through your body. your pretty tits bounced with each movement. you looked so nice naked, he loved the sight of your body.
you fit him like a glove.
his kisses were sloppy as you dug your nails into his shoulders. the pleasure bounced in his head as he moved against you. his cock hitting all the right places.
"please, daddy. i only want you. i never want to fuck anyone else."
he grabbed you by the head and said, "good, because no one else will ever touch you."
you soon climaxed, your voice filled the open air. but toto pulled you into a searing kiss, his grip on you was tight as he bullied his cock into your poor bruised cunt. you'd be feeling it all by morning. he continued his movements against you. you panted wildly and felt the flash of heat through your body. you moaned, "please, daddy."
"i've got you, schatzi." he said then groaned.
you slowed down your pace and rested against your lover's chest. you could feel his quick pulse. you enjoyed the feeling of him inside of you. but it didn't take long before he started to thrust up into you again.
he groaned, "i need you more, schatzi." he gripped onto your hips tightly and moved up into you, "i only have a few weeks with you before you have to go back to your father. and i want to make sure i've touched all over you, and you don't forget my touch."
you moaned, you wouldn't mind going another round. or maybe another three rounds. after all, you needed your daddy. and you wanted to make sure you that you felt every inch of him in return.
when he groped your ass, you squirmed.
"please, daddy. i need you."
-
the end of the summer break spelled the dutch grand prix. hamilton and russell were sitting waiting for their time to get going. russell looked at his teammate and asked, "did you see wolff?"
"what's going on with him?"
russell stretched out on the couch and little, "saw him with horner's daughter during break. i passed by his boat and found her in next to nothing."
"ah, c'mon, now you're just spreading rumors!" hamilton got closer, "but i am curious to know what you apparently saw there, mate." rumors were a dirty thing on the grid, but sometimes the information was just too delicious. <3

Based on this ask
Senator!Coriolanus Snow x Baker!Reader
Tumblr media
Senator Coriolanus Snow is a very wealthy man. Being the Plinth heir, due to some unfortunate circumstances during the summer of his 18th year, he had more money then the gods and could afford anything his black, dead, withered up, too small heart desires. Most of his desires were luxury sedans, luxury penthouses, high end fashion, and a permanent place in the governing politics of Panem.
And talk about politics, Senator Snow’s currently running for President of Panem- on the Old Guard Party ticket. His opponent’s some up and comer that's new money and has ties to district blood. Snow cringes at the thought of a district blooded fool from the Liberty & Labor Party beating him and ruling the country; corrupting Capitol City with extreme and revolutionary views.
Views that infringe on those traditions that Panem was founded on; everything that the Old Guard stands for. Being from ‘Old Money' and one of Panem's most esteemed, respected, and founding families, Coriolanus views himself as a Capitolite that's above those of District birth. Especially after spending the summer of his 18th year in the Peacekeepers amongst the savages of 12.
Coriolanus has the means to buy anything he wants that's high quality, but he finds himself visiting your modest bakery every morning for some pain au chocolat and sweet coffee. Your morning customers usually look all wide-eyed or feel a bit nervous when the regal senator walks in and right up to your counter only for you to smile and give him a friendly wave.
The door chime going off signals his arrival every morning. You can't help, but smile at the man who your father, Colonel Javani Halvir, is endorsing for president. And after your father brought Senator Snow, who you remember attending the Academy with a few years back, to your bakery for a quick morning business meeting, well, Coriolanus was hooked on both the goodies you make and you.
Yes, the imposing platinum blonde senator that's got a demeanor as cold as his name: Snow, has quite a crush on you.
“Senator Snow, your usual?” You ask, greeting the man who had just walked up to your counter with a smile, before turning to grab a small paper pastry bag.
“Yes, darling, I'll take my usual.” Coriolanus nods, watching you go over to the display case that the chocolate filled croissants are in. “But, please, call me Coriolanus or Coryo even.” He orders, although it seems like a request with how his baritone seems lighter then it's usual octave, as you bag up his croissant.
“Coryo?” You question before quickly realizing that it's a shortened form of his name- Coriolanus. Placing his pastry bag down on the counter, you wonder, “Do a lot of people call you that?”
“Nobody that did is left in my life.” The regal platinum blonde man confessed. Honestly, his confession took him aback since he would've lied to anyone else if they asked him that. But there was just something about your doe-eyes that had the lie dying on his tongue; had him being truthful with you.
And that's a rarity considering Coriolanus is a snake that charms and lies to everyone.
Everyone, but you it seems.
“Y/N, I only let my closest friends and family call me Coryo; perhaps we could further explore a friendship starting tonight during a business dinner your father invited me to?” You hear him tell you as your back:s to him while you're fiddling with the coffee press; filling him up a to go cup of coffee. Black with sugar- the only way he'll drink it.
Did you want to explore a friendship with Senator Snow, the presidential hopeful and frontrunner that your father, Colonel Javani Halvir's endorsing? It would surely make your dad happy, having you befriend the son of his late best friend- General Crassus Snow. But you're not sure if you want a friendship with a man who's life is in a political microscope.
It's no secret that the press stalks Coriolanus. Since he seems like a choir boy, you highly doubt that he is, the press is trying to find something on him to expose. And you don't need that kind of bullshit in your life.
Not after your bakery is finally seeing some success. The last thing you need is a friendship with Senator Snow wrecking the hard work; all the blood, sweat, and tears you put into making the Sunrise Bakery into a success. Into more than a hobby that's sucking up your father's money- those were your mother's exact words for how she feels about you being a baker.
“I won't be home for that dinner, Coriolanus. I'll be here prepping some things for tomorrow morning.” You tell the platinum blonde, who is low key scaring away your customers cause of how imposing of an aura he has, while turning around and placing his coffee on the counter.
The senator masks his disappointment with a tight pull of his lips. Pulling out his wallet and handing you his card, as he does every morning, he tells you, “You should go home for dinner, Y/N. You do need to eat and I'm sure you can always come back here and do your prep work once dinner's over.”
You don't even know why, maybe it's the slight sparkle on Coriolanus' icy eyes, but as you take his card you slightly smile and say, “Well, I guess I might be able to make it home for dinner.”
“I'll see you then, and if not then I'll surely see you here tomorrow morning for my breakfast.” He smiles, showing off his pearly white manically, while taking his card from you and putting it back into his wallet. Grabbing his pastry bag and coffee, he simply smiles and wishes you a good day before walking away from you.
Before he can reach the door, you call out to him. “Coryo, I hope you enjoy your pain au chocolat and sweet coffee.”
A triumphant smile crosses his was as he looks over his shoulder, giving you a nod and wave goodbye before exiting your bakery. Coriolanus knows deep in his soul that you calling him Coryo was a step in the right direction. That, before long, he'd be making you as obsessed with him as he is with you.
And he as all the time in the world to make his feelings for you turn into a mutual attraction since, after all, the senator frequents your bakery everyday.
Patience is a virtue that Senator Snow possesses and he's determined to wear down your senses with it by visiting you every day until you see that his obsessive love is exactly what you need in your life. Just like the pain au chocolat you bake is one of the things he needs in his life, the other being you.

♡︎ part3. first impression

RIDE ON ME masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the next morning, you were getting ready to go to the university. you put on a beautiful black skirt and thin black tights, then chose your favorite white shirt, which beautifully accentuated your curves. you packed everything you needed into your bag and took one last look in the mirror. elegant but also refined. first impressions are always important, and you wanted to show off your knowledge and the fact that you’re not boring - "I hope my outfit hints at that."
all morning, you tried to distract yourself from thoughts of Vi, of her pink hair and strong physique. you weren't ready to face her after last night's... conversation, so you got up earlier than planned and hoped she would still be asleep when you left. and that's exactly how it turned out.
on your way to the university, you mentally reviewed everything you knew, thinking that even answering one question from the lecturer would make a mark on the first day. since you didn't get a chance to have breakfast at your place, you stopped by a café near the campus, where some students were already chatting about professors and schedules. after ordering a coffee and a chocolate croissant, you took a seat by the window. the pace of the new city amazed you, back in your quiet town, there were never so many people out and about, hurrying to work or stuck in traffic in the early hours. it was surprising and motivating. the quiet buzz of the café brought you back to thoughts about studying and the first day, but something unpleasant interrupted your enjoyable breakfast - a familiar, irritating voice.
“yeah, that was seriously hot, I think she's in love with me!” - it was Kate with her friends. "can I have one moment of peace?"
“yeah, she's so hot, this time she'll definitely ask me out on a date,” - you couldn't help but snort with laughter, watching her telling her friends these silly stories.
"wait, why is everyone suddenly quiet? and why is everyone looking at me?"
“do you have a problem, or is your croissant cracking jokes?” - Kate started walking towards you with her entourage. she was very elegantly dressed, -  "I think her shoes were from a very expensive brand, just like her bag and a dress... she has a taste."
“um, no, no problem, it's just that the croissant is really funny,” — you tried to defuse the situation with a joke.
“are you slow or something, newbie?” - she rolled her eyes at you – “they let anyone into the public programs these days, and now I have to walk alongside them,” - Kate turned back to her friends to check if they were laughing at her "joke."
"anyone? did she just imply that I'm poor or what? no, I'm not letting this slide."
“yes, the public program. for your information, they accept not only the poor, 'with whom you have to walk alongside,' but also those who passes the exams successfully, bitch. if you spent less time thinking about whether certain someone would ask you out after they kick you out of their place without a hint of the phone call you so desperately wanted, and more time studying, maybe you'd get it,” - I think I'm saying too much.
Kate let out a nervous laugh - "what are you even talking about, newbie?" - she gave you a once-over, wondering if you had guessed about Vi’s reaction or if you knew something.
seeing the tension in Kate's eyes, you decided to add quietly but still loud enough for people around to hear - "calling a partner in bed 'daddy' is a bit weird, maybe you should consult a... specialist?" - everyone in the café gasped.
"looks like I crossed the line, I shouldn't have done that, why am I acting like a jealous bitch?"
you cringed slightly at your own words, "I have no right to comment on someone else's private life, especially after eavesdropping without having one of my own."
“look, I'm sorry, I…” - you tried to say, but Kate cut you off with her loud voice.
“so, you’re the new roommate of Vi? I was wondering when we'd meet. listen to me carefully, newbie, you don't know anything about me or my relationship with Vi. why don't you just shut up and go back to whatever cave you crawled out of,” - Kate was visibly upset, and you could feel the eyes of everyone in the café on you. it was so quiet that even the coffee machine seemed to have stopped.
Kate stepped closer to you and whispered so only you could hear – “do you think I won't get you kicked out of there too?”
with a smile, she left the café while everyone else was still staring at you. "not the first impression I planned."
after that total breakfast failure, you could only hope the rumors wouldn't make it to the campus. you worried that people might think you're some creep who eavesdrops on other people's private sex life. but in a way, it was true…
the first classes went by normally. yes, you caught a few glances, but that might just be curiosity about a new face. during the third and final class, you even managed to make some friends among your classmates. they were just as you imagined - smart, fun, and interesting. everything was going great, until one of your new acquaintances asked you a tricky question while saying goodbye.
“hey, were you the one who confronted Kate this morning?” - a tall guy from your group asked.
“I wouldn't say I confronted her, I just said a bit too much,” - you said, looking clearly embarrassed as you stared at the ground.
“look, she kind of had it coming. but keep in mind that she has this rich-girl complex, so don’t be surprised if she starts spreading nasty rumors about you tomorrow. Kate’s the type who still cares about class distinctions and other nonsense. her rich parents basically founded the biggest law firm in the city, and that's where she’s aiming. I think she’s just under a lot of pressure, and that’s why she acts like a total bitch," - shared your classmate.
hearing this, you felt even worse - "I had no right to judge or comment on anything, but she's no saint either. I guess I should apologize, even if it makes things worse."
“thanks for letting me know. happy first day, everyone! I’ll be heading home now," - you said with relief, exhausted by the day’s events, wanting nothing more than to lie down on your bed and close your eyes, even if just for five minutes. the thought that your roommate might be home made your heart race.
“yeah, but don’t forget about the party tonight to kick off the school year. we’re expecting you, no excuses! we’ll send you the details,” - your new friends called after you.
on your way home, you wondered whether you should go to the club, your fatigue was clouding your judgment, but it was a chance to escape the house for the evening and strengthen new friendships. maybe even make some real friends?
“I can’t say no, I have to go, it’s my celebration too. I deserve to have fun,” — you mumbled to yourself as you walked home.
half an hour later, after a slow walk, you finally made it home.
the thought of facing Vi after your flirtatious exchange yesterday was unbearable. you wanted to see her, but the way your body reacted whenever you thought about her words didn`t add confidence. there had always been little sexual tension in your life, to put it mildly. your past partners never made you feel enough emotions to sustain a long-term relationship. it was always the same: meeting, a few dates, sex, a communication that would fizzle out after a few months - that was pretty much the story of all your relationships. sad, but true.
when you got home, you saw Vi on the couch, and your body immediately tensed, but you calmed yourself to make sure she didn’t notice. "sweaty again, must have been working out," - you thought - "maybe if I pretend nothing happened, it’ll be better?"
“hi, Vi, I’m home,” - you said as calmly as possible, trying not to let your voice tremble.
she slowly turned to look at you, glanced at your outfit, and then turned back to the TV and her bag of chips. "I hope that’s not the only thing she’s eaten all day," - you thought.
“how was your day?” - you still tried to keep your tone steady.
“very interesting. I worked out, showered, and then got a message saying my roommate likes to share my sex life with strangers,” - she turned to look you straight in the eyes.
"fuck"
“sorry about that, Kate was just really rude, and I couldn’t hold back. I just really wanted to take a jab at her,” - you started to explain, not breaking eye contact with Vi.
“don’t do it again,” - "and that’s it? well, at least she’s not mad at me. I think."
you desperately wanted to change the subject, so after tossing your bag into your room, you started talking about the first thing that came to mind.
“how can you even eat that junk? I thought athletes were supposed to eat healthy,” - you said, pointing to the bag of chips with a slight smile.
“want me to eat you instead, cupcake?” - she said with a grin, seemingly teasing you on purpose.
your body reacted instantly to that, a light vibration running through your stomach, bringing vivid images to your mind: "you on your bed, your favorite shirt crumpled and unbuttoned so that your chest is completely exposed, your skirt lifted, and your tights torn between your legs. Vi’s face at the level of your most intimate place, her fingers gently trailing along your inner thigh as if she hadn’t just thrown you on the bed and literally ripped your clothes off. "cupcake, you are very attractive now." she pulls your black panties aside with her fingers and speaks so close to your wetness that you feel the vibration - "I guess now we'll see if you'll moan sweetly for me"
you suddenly felt yourself getting wet. unable to take her comments anymore, you turned and went to the room.
the only option to calm your nerves is to take a shower. you wanted her so badly that you hated the feeling - “why can't we just talk? no, I can. she is the one making comments that confuse people. now I'm definitely going to the party, I can't be here today."
throwing your clothes on the floor, you went into the shower, hot water and your favorite shower gel that you brought from home - perfect. when your hands started soaping your body, you felt that you were still tense. your nipples were hard and the bottom of your stomach was very sore. after a second's pause, you decided that it is better to relieve this tension.
after getting out of the shower, you headed towards your bed. slipping under the warm and soft blanket completely naked, your hands began to explore your body. for a long time you have satisfied your needs on your own, sometimes even after having sex with your partners. your body needed special attention, time, touches, words... unfortunately, you rarely got it.
your hand began to stimulate the nipple, squeezing it a little. a wave of pleasure immediately ran through your body. your eyes were closed, you concentrated on the sensations. after a minute, previous images started to return to your head. "want me to eat you instead, cupcake?"
“yes” - a soft moan escaped from you. your other hand went down to your wetness. you started running your fingers and feeling how much you were really turned on. the pad of your middle finger began massaging your clit and another moan escaped you. at this point you didn't care if Vi could hear you. "let her hear, she's not the only one who can tease" - with this thought you launched your middle finger inside of you. it was so pleasant that without waiting even a minute the second finger was inside you too. you fingered yourself as you picked up the pace. in your head you only heard the phrase "yes, baby, come for me". you felt that you were already getting close, after a few movements of your fingers, a wave of pleasure enveloped your body again, but already stronger and you came, letting out a moan from your lips.
a text with the address of the party appeared on your phone. you put on a dress and started looking at yourself in the mirror. a simple short black dress that highlighted your curves fits you perfectly. you styled your hair half-up, which exposed your neck. “not bad,” - you said to yourself.
as you left the room, you noticed that Vi was in the kitchen, seemingly preparing dinner. she looked at you very slowly, letting her gaze linger on the curves of your body. you chose not to show that you noticed it. putting on your shoes, you opened the door and stepped outside.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 🎁🎈🎂🎉🎊 I loved Try Me (Matt Murdock x Reader), I was wondering if maybe you could write a sequel? I could see an intimate moment where she’s feeding him the soup she made and taking care of him, potentially with the hilarity of Foggy finding out he’s got two super powered friends
thanks! hopefully this is what you were looking for, I had fun writing it!
Ask Me
pairing: Matt Murdock x Fem!Reader

warnings: none

"I can't believe you're Daredevil." She mutters as she ladles the soup into a bowl. She made a broth more than a soup because she didn't have time to cut the vegetables, but it'll do the trick. She also didn't know the extent of Matt's injures, and she didn't want him to have trouble eating anything. "Does Foggy know?" She asks as she brings the bowl over to the couch.
"Yes," Matt chuckles, but his teeth are clenched in pain. She kneels next to the couch and she is still shocked by his injuries, even though she's already seen them. He has a large cut across his chest, and resists the urge to touch it.
She watches Matt try to sit up, but he's clearly in too much pain. She puts the soup on the ground in favor of helping him up. She tries not to let her pulse rush as she touches his bare back and bicep, pulling him up gently until he is sitting up enough to eat.
"Here, let's get you some food." She tells him, spooning some broth and then carefully helping him eat some. It's so quiet in the apartment that she swears she can feel her own heart race as she feeds Matt. They're close, and her brain is reeling with the thought of how Matt, and blind man, can be a vigilante.
"I think that's good." Matt groans when they're about three fourths of the way though the bowl. She gets up to put the bowl away and grab a warm, wet cloth.
"How are you Daredevil?" She asks, sinking down to her knees again and beginning to wipe off the blood around his wounds.
"Are you asking if I'm actually blind?" He questions, but he's smiling, so she can tell he's joking.
"I know you're blind, Matt." She says with a small sigh. She's seen his unfocused eyes too many times to think he was just preteneding.
"All my other senses are heightened." He tells her, tensing as she begins to wipe a big, deep cut. She hopes that soon her healing food will kick in; she's never seen it help on this level, and she's worried it won't work as well as Matt is hoping it will.
"So, you can hear really good?" She asks, wondering what exactly that means. He shrugs, smiling a little bit.
"And smell, and taste. And feel. I have to have specific sheets because of how sensitive my skin is." He's feeling better, she can tell, and it makes her smile.
"How did figure it out?" She asks quietly. She's had these powers ever since she can remember, but she'd never told anyone and no one ever figured it out either. This is a first, sharing a gift, and she can't help but feel a little scared.
"That your food could heal people?" He clarifies. She almost nods, but then catches herself.
"Yeah," She confirms.
"You asked me what happened again the day after you first gave me the croissant, as if you knew it should have gone away. And I usually have accelerated healing anyway, but not that fast. You wouldn't have known that." He's starting to relax more, and she knows he needs to get some sleep soon.
"You wanna move to the bed?" She asks, putting the cloth down and preparing to move him. Before he can answer, Foggy comes stomping back in.
"So both of my best friends are super heroes?" He yells, throwing the drugstore bag in their general direction. Y/N's eyes widen as Foggy walks to them.
"I am not a super hero." Y/N clarifies.
"I wouldn't classify myself as one either." Matt interjects, a hand out to stop Foggy's rant. It does nothing, and Foggy soldiers on.
"You can feel, hear, and smell things no human should be able to feel, hear, and smell." He points at Matt, who raises an eyebrow. "And you can heal people with your food, that you've been feeding me for months!" Foggy moves to Y/N, and she just shakes her head.
"Have you ever wondered why you haven't gotten sick in months?" She asks, and he just scoffs.
"That proves my point!" He screams. Y/N and Matt shake their heads, Matt smirking.
"Foggy, neither of us are superheroes. You don't need to freak out." Matt tries to calm him down, but Foggy just gets more worked up.
"Are you kidding me? You could be Avengers for all I know!" Foggy grabs the bag that he had thrown and begins to get some of the bandages and Neosporin out to help Matt.
"Oh my God," Y/N groans, rolling her eyes and putting her head in her hands. Honestly, Foggy freaking out was kinda funny, but she isn't sure if he's being serious now or not.
"We're not Avengers, Foggy." Matt chuckles, and Y/N begins to put bandages over Matt's injuries.
"Well I just don't know that, do I?" Foggy looks over at the pot on the stove, walking over there quickly. "What did you make?"
"Just a quick broth. I wanted to get Matt something quick." She tells Foggy as she begins to focus on the task at hand.
"Is this why I haven't gotten paper cuts?" Foggy asks as he ladles a little soup out for himself.
"It doesn't make you skin extra strong, Fog." Matt tells him as she continues bandaging him up. Her hands brushing his skin make Matt want to crawl out of his skin in a good way, which didn't make sense until this very moment.
"Did I hurt you?" Y/N asks softly when he tenses.
"No," He mutters, putting a hand on her wrist to stop her. "It's okay, I think the big ones are taken care of." He just wants to lay down and sleep it off now, but he wants to ask her one more thing.
"Let me help you to your room." She offers, and together, with him leaning on her, they make it to Matt's room.
"What are you doing tomorrow?" He asks as they sit down. He can feel the heat begin to flush her cheeks, her heart beginning to race. He's worried still that maybe she feels uncomfortable until she responds.
"Working." She thinks she's funny, and Matt chuckles.
"Do you want to go to Josie's with me tomorrow night?" He asks, and she ducks her head and smiles.
"As long as my boss lets me off on time." She says, nudging him with her shoulder.
"I'll talk to him." He tells her, both of them smiling hard enough that their cheeks hurt.

Tw: pregnancy
Tag list: @myloverjk-blog
"So no more work for me?", you frowned. For all you knew, this was going to be a regular check up with your OB, but it didn't seem like the ones you had been in before.
"It's my advice, yes", she noted, "even though your last pregnancies were fine, and we are expecting this one to be, too, its better to be safe. The guidelines we have for people your age and with these numbers suggest that, whenever it is possible, you should rest more towards the end of the pregnancy". As she typed what you assumed your leave on the computer, your husband grabbed your hand in his, resting it on your thigh, squeezing it lightly.
"Should we keep an eye out for anything?", Mick questioned, "the usual signs, really. I know it's only busier now since you have your two little ones at home, but resting as much as possible while still keeping active, drinking loads of water and good eating. If there is anything suspicious, you can just call me or text me", she smiled, handing you the copy and getting up, "thank you so much, have a nice day", you managed to say.
The walk back to the car was done in silence, Mick closing the door on your side before getting to the driver's seat, "whatever you want to say, you can say it now, liebling. I've been with your for a long time and I know when you are keeping something, and you know I won't judge your thoughts", he teased, finding his attempt at making you smile successful.
"What does she mean 'with people your age and numbers'? Was she calling me fat? Or old? Probably both of them", you grumbled, looking to see your husband in a fit of giggles, "Liebling, I'm sorry", he excused himself, "I don't think she meant it in that way, she's just looking out for you and our babygirl. And, fortunately, we can work with what she advised", he reasoned, "besides, Sebastian and Aurora will love the idea of having us around a little more now".
"Still think she called me old and fat", you mumbled, seeing one of your favourite bakeries, "Oh, Mick, can we go there, my love? A croissant would be really good right now", you pouted, smiling when he flickered on the turn signal, "I have the best husband in the world!".
On your way home, you stopped by your workplace, handing in the maternity leave and saying a "see you soon" to all your colleagues before you went to pick up the kids. Aurora couldn't hide her surprise when she saw both of her parents by the gate, "Hey, mama! Hey, papa! Why are you both here today?", she quizzed, holding her hands out so the three of you could walk side by side, "I'm going to take some time off work, so we can spend some more time together from now on", you said as you checked of she fastened her seatbelt properly once you got to the car, "and to rest, too, let's not forget that part", Mick chipped in.
It started raininh when you arrived at Sebastian's pre-school, so Mick grabbed an umbrella and left you and Aurora in the car. "You are okay, right, mama? You're staying home because you need to rest, that's all, right?", your oldest asked, looking into your eyes through the rear view mirror. Unbucklibg your seat belt, you moved around in the space you had so you could face her, "yes, Rora. I'm all good, there's nothing to worry about. Mama just needs rest, and it's always nice that we get to spend more time together, right?", you soother her worries, seeing Seb and Mick walk to the car, "uh-oh", your daughter said, "Sebastian just walked into a big water puddle", she pointed out. Chuckling at your little boy's antics as his father picked him up, you couldn't help but shake your head, "see? It's always nice to have more hands on deck".
"Hi mama! Hi, Rora!", Sebastian greeted, pressing a sloppy kiss on his sister's cheek, "how are you and baby sister?", he asked, "we're doing good, my love. And how was your day?", you asked, fastening your belt again while Mick drove home, "it was good! But now my feet are wet, I have to change when I get home".
While Mick took care of dinner with Seb's help, you helped Aurora with her homework, coming out of her bedroom when Sebastian called, "Mama, Rora!", he yelled as he walked inside after knocking on the door, "Papa and I made lasagna! It's not as good as Oma's, but it's pretty close!", he smiled proudly at their achievement, holding your hand as he helped you down the stairs.
"I hope you didn't start eating without us", Sebastian threatened, "of course we didn't, we know mama takes a little longer on the stairs now", Aurora reasoned, tapping your baby bump cutely as she went around you to sit at the table, "I want that crispy bit, please".
The bedtime routine went smoothly as you both read stories to Aurora and Sebastian, kissing their foreheads goodnight, "I'm so tired I feel like I could sleep right here", you chuckled, arranging the pillows on the sofa.
"Do you want to go back upstairs? I can finish this here quickly and I'll join you in a bit", Mick offered, seeing you contemplate, "you really don't mind?", you squinted, "no, I don't. Go upstairs, beautiful", he added, kissing your lips as he ushered you up the stairs.
As much as you didn't like to admit it, this pregnancy was taking a big toll on you. You had two kids that despite being pretty good and calm still required your attention and energy, and as you approached the third trimester, you started to feel that the mandated rest from your doctor was actually a good decision.
"Oh, you're in bed already?", Mick asked when he closed the bedroom door, seeing you tucked in bed. He quickly did his nighttime routine, grabbing the bottle of oil on his way so he could sit next to you.
"Hi, baby girl", he began, taking the cap off and depositing some on your bump, "you're going to be a lot calmer, we hope, since mama is taking some time off", he kissed your belly button, "we are all going to do something to help her and make sure she doesn't run herself ragged".
"And what is papa going to do? Everytime mama looks at him, she gets even more flustered", you ran your fingers through his hair, teasing him slightly and not expecting his answer, "well, papa had been thinking about retiring", he gulped, looking up at you as his hands continued the ministrations on your skin.
"What?", you fixed your position, sitting properly against the headboard so you could face your husband, "where's this coming from?".
"It's not new, before you think this is because of today's appointment", Mick began, "I've been thinking about retiring so I can be home for you and the kids. With Rora, it was the first time so we managed it, and with Seb we just winged it and went along, but three kids? It's a whole different experience. I can tell that it's a lot more tiring, and while some things get easier because of experience, I wouldn't want you to have to manage three kids on your own", he explained.
"And you'd just leave motorsport? You would stop racing?", you asked, unsure of you were getting his point.
"Yes. I have won championships, I've raced competitively to my heart's content. I have a career that I'm proud of, that I'd like to tell my children about when they grow older. And I also want to spend more time with them, with you. I want to be able to help and be more present in their lives", he reasoned.
"You are present in their lives, Mick", you reasoned, "I know, liebling. But retiring would mean that I'm almost always here, and I want that", he rubbed his thumb on your hand, smoothing the skin, "I've spoken to Toto, and the team are okay with waiting a little bit. They have plans for either way, so it's just a matter of my decision, of our decision".
"You've given this some thought", you mumbled, "and no matter where this goes, my position is the same. As long as it makes you happy, we will be here to support you", you smiled, grabbing his hand and kissing it before placing it back in your bump, playing with his fingers, "I would never want you to give up something that you love so much, but if you want to do it, then me, Rora, Seb and Harriet are going to be here for you", you smiled.
"Thank you, liebling", he kissed your lips, "I love you. Also", he pointed out, "Harriet, hm?".
"I've been thinking about names and Harriet came up. Just trying it out and see how it flows, you know?", you cuddled him, kissing his chest, "I love you so much, Mick".
.
Arriving at home, Mick helped Aurora and Sebastian out of the car before they walked up to the living room together, "when I left them here to go and pick you up from Oma's, Harriet was still asleep, so we have to keep quiet, okay?", he checked, seeing the kids nod as he opened the door.
"Can we come in? I have an excited big sister and big brother here", Mick said as they walked inside. Aurora held her brother's hand in hers, urging him to go in front of her, "go, you can do this", she whispered on his ear.
The small encouragement didn't go unnoticed by you and Mick, deciding to comment on it later, "she was just asleep but she woke up, I guess she's very excited to meet you two", you smiled, arranging the pillows so both kids could sit on either side of you while they peeked at their baby sister, Mick crouching in front of you, "can I give her a kiss, mama?", your son asked, carefully kissing his sister's cheek when you nodded. The baby made a noise that caught him off guard, "Oh, she didn't like it?", he pouted, tears welling in his eyes.
Quickly, Mick caught on the moment, "no, Seb, none of that. She just didn't expect it, maybe. You know when me and mama go to your room to wake you up? You don't like it a lot, right? It's almost the same for Harriet, she wasn't counting on it, that's all", he encouraged, gesturing for his son to try again, this time seeing Aurora do the same as the baby sighed in content, "see? She's happy now, she loves those kisses", Mick finished, looking up and seeing you with teary eyes.
"It's our family, let me cry all I want", you sniffed, "they're happy tears anyway", you announced, kissing all of the children's foreheads before puckering your lips to kiss your husband's.
Later, Mick found himself feeding Harriet while you played with Aurora and Sebastian. He hadn't been home for long, but he could see how you were juggling it. You were still recovering from giving birth, but like he had predicted, three kids was a lot. His mother had stopped by for dinner, taking control of the kitchen as she baked one of her roasts.
"Thank you for this", he said to Corinna, "I don't know how you two have managed this when I wasn't here", he admitted.
"We found it in ourselves", Corinna began, "and she also spoke to me about your plans, or the option that is on the table, I guess", she clarified, wanting to hear more about it from her son.
"I feel accomplished in my career, for now at least. And I want to be involved in their lives. I never felt like dad was not involved because he always made the effort, and I want to do the same. And I want to be there when they wake up, to get them from school, and three kids requires a lot more juggling. I don't want Y/N to have to do all of that juggling, or to stop chasing her dreams because of motherhold", he reasoned, "we're in this together, and I think it's time I take a stepback".
"Corinna, they are asking for you. I may be biased, but they have some pretty cute drawings to show you. Ambiguous when it comes to what they represent, but cute nonetheless", you smiled, seeing your mother in-law wipe her hands on the kitchen towell and heading to the living room where you just were.
"Hi, little bug", you cooed, seeing Harriet resting happily in her father's chest, "you just found the comfiest spot ever, didn't you? I have to share it with three of you now".
"It's a good thing that I'll be here more often then", Mick stated, kissing the top of her head and moving to kiss yours too.
"Are you sure about that?", you asked, looking for any uncertainty in his eyes. You had known him all your life, so it wasn't hard to look for the light fog in his eyes or his nervous eyebrow twitch. But you were met instead with a peaceful expression, eyes glossy and happy. "I'm sure, liebling. I spoke to Toto this morning and I'm retiring. I want to be here with you", he confirmed, feeling your arms wrap around his torso, "I'm so proud of you, Mick, we all are. And I bet the kids will love having your around even more".
"Are you saying their mother won't love having me around more?", he teased, smirking at you, "Oh, as soon as this is all working, their mother knows exactly what to do with that time".

Hii, can I request Rebecca X reader. Something similar to the plot where she met the Dutch man and had an amazing day . She met reader is Paris (the most beautiful woman line is so 🥺). they met in a bar or coffee shop and spent a wonderful weekend together ? Rebecca is surprised that reader still wants to see her considering she's younger . She actually felt free and happy ,no stress and not judged . Flirting, fluff , anything. You write her character so well and accurately 😁
I LOVE THIS🥺🥺 And thank you so much!! I'm glad I'm able to do her justice!😄💕
Thank you so much for the request!!💕💕
Tumblr media
Walking through the streets of Paris, you're trying your best to not get lost. You left your hostel almost an hour ago trying to find the café you went to the day before but since you know virtually no French, your search hasn't been going well.
You stumble across a different café, it wasn't the one you were looking for but you're in desperate need of food and caffeine so you cut your losses and walk in.
You walk up to the counter and butcher your order of a tea and croissant, the barista manages to understand you, but you still receive a ton of dirty looks from the staff and other patrons of the café.
You're handed your order and turn to find a place to sit down. In the corner of the shop you see a beautiful blond woman gazing out the window, sipping on her drink. The café isn't super crowded, but you decide to shoot your shot and ask her if you can join her. She's absolutely stunning so it takes you a few seconds to gain up the courage to put one foot in front of the other.
As you're walking over she looks away from the window and your eyes meet, her gorgeous green eyes take your breath away for a moment. It's in that second you realize that there's a good chance she's French and doesn't speak any English and you start to panic, but you can't back out now. You take the last few steps up to her table and she smiles at you.
"Hi, um, is this seat taken?" You shyly ask.
The woman smiles, her eyes sparkling, it would be a miracle if she understands you right now.
"No, not at all."
You exhale a sigh of relief and sit down.
"Oh thank god you speak English. It didn't dawn on me that there was a really good chance you only spoke French until it was too late for me to abandon ship." You say with a laugh as you sit.
The woman softly laughs. "Well today must be your lucky day."
"It certainly seems that way. I'm y/n, sorry for interrupting your breakfast, this might sound super cheesy but I saw you and I was like 'wow she's absolutely beautiful' and I had to at least try and talk to you." You look away as you feel your cheeks getting red.
"You're so sweet, thank you so much. I'm Rebecca." She reaches out her hand and you shake it. "So what brings you to Paris y/n?"
"My friend and I were supposed to come here together but she got covid before we left so she couldn't come."
"Oh no, so you're here all by yourself?" She asks.
"Yup, it's even more unfortunate because she was the one who spoke French and I don't speak an ounce of it, so it's safe to say that most of the people I interact with are not my biggest fans." You say as you look over at the barista who catches your eye and gives you a dirty look. You turn back to Rebecca and you both laugh. "So why are you in Paris?"
"I had some time off from work so I decided to go on a little trip by myself."
"Oh that's cool, I'm guessing you speak French?"
"Oui, je parle couramment le français."
(Yes, I am fluent in French)
"I have no idea what any of that meant but I'm going to take a wild guess and say that's a yes?"
"Yes," she says with a laugh. "It means 'yes, I'm fluent in French.'"
"Oh that's really cool! Where did you learn French?"
"I learned it in school, we started learning young and I picked it up really easily. Do you know any languages?"
"Not really, I took Spanish in middle school and high school but I didn't like it and forgot just about all of it by the time I graduated. I do know sign language though. Well, American sign language that is."
"That's really interesting, how much sign language do you know?"
"I'm pretty much fluent." You begin to sign as you speak. "I can practically have this whole conversation in asl. I took a few classes in high school because my friend convinced me to sign up for it and I fell in love with it. They offered asl classes at my college so I just kept with it. I don't get to use it often, but it's a fun party trick." You say with a laugh.
You watch Rebecca follow your hands as you sign, she looks mesmerized by it, like she's watching a ballet dancer.
"That's really, really fascinating." She says with a smile.
"Yeah, but I do have to be careful when I'm not in the US because signs in asl could mean something completely different in another languages sign language. With my luck I'll sign a song I'm listening to or something and end up accidentally cursing out an old man." You say with a laugh.
Rebecca laughs and you take a sip of your tea as you giggle.
"Where are you from in America?" Rebecca asks.
"I'm from New York." You say with a smile.
"Oh you're from New York City?"
You laugh "No, although it's always really funny to me that everyone assumes you're from NYC when you tell someone who's not from New York that you're from New York. I'm from the suburbs, but the city is only like an hour or so away. Where are you from?"
"I can understand that, I'm from London."
"Oh cool! I'm actually going there on Monday! Where in London? Like near Buckingham Palace?"
Rebecca laughs "No, New York and London are similar in that it seems that people assume when you say you're from there, they automatically think of the city. I live in Richmond, about 45 minutes from Buckingham Palace."
"Ah, I guess New York and London are much more similar than I would have expected."
"Will you be travelling to London by yourself as well?" She asks.
"Yup, we were going to spend five days in Paris and five in London and then head home, although I may extend my stay if I'm really enjoying myself in London, but we'll see."
"Ten days is a long time to be alone." She says.
"Oh it sure is, I was starting to go a little stir crazy which is also one of the reasons I decided to come talk to you. But mostly because you're really beautiful and I knew I was going to kick myself if I didn't at least try to strike up a conversation with you."
You swear you see Rebecca blush a little as she brings her cup to her lips. She looks out the window and back at you.
"This may ridiculous, and please don't feel obligated to say yes, but I was going to take a walk along the Seine, would you like to join me?"
You begin to feel butterflies in your stomach and you immediately try and squash them.
"Yes, absolutely. I would love to."
You finish your drink and your croissant and you both leave the café and head towards the Seine. You make small talk as you walk, Rebecca points out different buildings and structures, talking about their history. You watch her as she talks about what you two walk past, the passion she has in her eyes and the excitement that radiates off of her is precious, even though you barely know each other, you feel a bond already.
"So what have you done so far since you've been here?" She asks.
"Well, I got in really early Wednesday morning so I checked in and just wandered around for most of the day, truthfully I got lost for about three hours and managed to find my way back by some miracle." You both laugh. "And Thursday I went to Versailles and spent the day there and yesterday I walked around the Louvre for the entire day on accident, that place is massive. But I've just been doing touristy things for the most part."
"You haven't been to the Eiffel Tower yet?" She asks.
"Not yet, I mean I've seen it, but I was planning on doing that sometime today, I want to see it sparkle at night. I heard it was beautiful."
"It is very pretty, although I did tell a friend of mine once that the Eiffel Tower was just a lamppost with a publicist."
You laugh out loud "Stop, that's really fucking funny."
The two of you walk around some more, making small talk, laughing, just genuinely enjoying each others company.
After a few hours of walking around you both decide you need a rest. Rebecca says she knows of a good restaurant that's more of a "locals" place where you can get lunch and you two head there.
Rebecca asks for a table for two in what sounds like perfect French, although you genuinely would have no idea if it was perfect or completely butchered, but whatever she said, it sounded great. The waiter brings you to your table and hands you menu's. You both look over the menu's and she translates everything for you. You both decide on what you want to order and the waiter comes back to take your orders. Rebecca orders in perfect French, once again, and you completely butcher the name of the dish you want. The waiter gives you a dirty look and takes the menu's and walks away.
As soon as he's out of ear shot you and Rebecca bust out laughing.
"Holy shit that guy hates me."
"I can't believe he gave you that look!"
"Oh I can, I've been getting that look from everyone since I got here." You say as you laugh.
"Oh no!" Rebecca says as she laughs.
The waiter comes back over with your drinks and you both try your hardest to hold back your laughter, the waiter gives you both that look this time and as soon as he turns his back you both burst out laughing again.
You food comes out and you enjoy your lunch, Rebecca leaves to go to the bathroom when she's finished eating and when she gets back she grabs her bag.
"Ready to go?" She asks you.
"Wait, what about the check?"
"I took care of it."
"Oh my god no you did not!"
The waiter hands Rebecca the receipt and she thanks him in French.
"Dude! You did not have to-"
"I know, but I wanted to treat my new friend to lunch for her first time here in Paris."
"Thank you, but then I'm buying dinner!" You pause for a second and try to save yourself, you don't want her to think she has to be stuck with you all day because you're alone, or make her think you assume she'll go out to dinner with you. "Or something." You quickly add.
Rebecca puts her hand to her chin and thinks for a second.
"Um, nope. I'm buying you dinner also." She says with a smile. "If you would like to have dinner with me as well, that is." She says a little shyly.
"I would love to, but I don't want you to feel like you have to pay for me!" You say as the two of you leave the restaurant.
"I don't, I want to."
"Are you sure? Dinners here can get expensive and I would hate to-"
"Don't worry about that, trust me, it's not a problem." She says with a smile. "So what else were you planning on doing today?"
"I wanted to see the Notre Dame, the Sainte-Chapelle, I'd like to see the arch, your usual first-time in Paris touristy things."
"Well then allow me to be your tour guide."
"Are you sure? I mean don't get me wrong I'd love to keep hanging out with you, but I'd feel so bad if you wasted your whole day chaperoning me around and not get to do whatever you planned on doing today."
"Well actually my plan was to find a pretty girl that was in Paris all alone and give her a tour of the city." She says with a wink and you laugh. "No but truthfully, my plan was to walk around and shop, that's it. I'd much rather do this with you."
"Okay, if you insist. Where to next my lovely tour guide?"
Rebecca spends the rest of the afternoon showing you the city, you see the Norte Dame, the Sainte-Chapelle, and make your way across the city to the arch. You feel like you're spending the day with one of your best friends, not a stranger you just met that morning at a random café you decided to wander in to.
"Do you want to come get a drink with me before dinner?" Rebecca asks.
"Yeah, absolutely." You say with a smile.
"Okay, the bar in the hotel I'm staying at is gorgeous, and I can make reservations at one of my favorite restaurants."
"That sounds perfect. Is there a dress code for the restaurant?"
"Oh good point,"
"I have fancy restaurant clothes in my hostel I can change into."
"You're staying in a hostel?" She asks, surprised.
"Hell yeah, it's actually pretty nice, and it was like dirt cheap."
"Where is it?"
"Close by the Notre Dame!"
"The Notre Dame?! How the hell did you end up all the way by the café this morning?"
"I was looking for a café I went to yesterday but I couldn't find it and got lost, so I just walked into the the first café I found, and it was that one. It's quite serendipitous if you ask me."
Rebecca shakes her head at you and hails a cab and you both get dropped off at your hostel.
"This is it?" She asks.
"Yeah!"
"Okay, it's actually nicer than I thought it was going to be."
"See? I told you!" You tease her. She rolls her eyes at you and you walk inside.
You bring her to your room and she looks horrified when she sees that you're sharing the room with two other people.
"It's not bad, they're a nice German couple."
"You can't stay here."
"What are you talking about?"
"Grab your stuff, stay with me in my hotel, I have a suite with an extra bedroom you're more than welcome to stay in."
"Oh god Rebecca I can't do that I don't want to impose-"
"You aren't and you can, I can't let you stay in this hostel, alone, with two random German people. Come on." She says with a smile as she grabs your bag.
"Are you sure?" You ask as she walks out.
"Yes!" She says, walking down the hall with your luggage.
You check out of the hostel and take a cab to Rebecca's hotel. Your jaw hits the floor when you realize she's staying at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée.
"Rebecca, are you fucking joking?"
"What?"
"The fucking Hôtel Plaza Athénée? This is your hotel? Where you have a suite with two rooms?!"
"Yeah, I stay here in the presidential every time I come to Paris."
You look at her like she's insane. "What the fuck do you do for a living?" You ask as she pulls you into the hotel.
"I run a football club."
"Football? I didn't even think football was popular over here."
"Soccer."
"Oh, right." You laugh. "Ah, gotta love the American ignorance." You joke and the two of you laugh.
You get into her suite and your jaw is on the floor, it's absolutely stunning, it has a full living room, fireplace, two big, gorgeous bedrooms, each with their own master bathroom. Rebecca pulls the curtains open and you see the Eiffel Tower perfectly from the view.
"Holy shit." You say quietly, completely captivated by the view. "This is amazing." You turn and look at her and see her with a smile on her face.
"Isn't it?" She says, gazing out the window.
You both admire the view for a moment and eventually you bring your stuff into your room and get changed. You walk out in a cute cocktail dress, your most comfortable pair of heels, your hair pulled back on one side and a little bit of makeup. You see Rebecca sitting at the little desk on the phone, you assume she's making dinner reservations. She hangs up and looks at you.
"Wow, you look beautiful y/n." She says with a smile.
"Thank you," you say. She stands up and your jaw practically hits the floor. "Jesus Christ," you quietly say. Rebecca is wearing a dark blue dress that hugs every curve on her body perfectly. You figured she had a good shape when you were with her all day, but the jeans, t-shirt and jacket she was wearing hid a lot of it. You never expected her to look like a fucking model.
"What?" She asks a little worried, looking down. "Does this not look good?"
"No, holy shit no, you just look amazing. Like I new you were beautiful, but I didn't know you literally had a perfect hour glass figure, wow." You shake your head to try and snap out of it. "I'm sorry, I'm no better than a man sometimes." You laugh as your cheeks turn pink.
You're worried you offended her, but you look at her and it actually looks like she found it endearing.
"Well thank you, I appreciate the compliment. Ready to go?"
"Yes! Absolutely."
You two head down to the bar and grab a few drinks before dinner. You chat and laugh as you enjoy your drinks. Once you finish, Rebecca pays the bill, against your wishes, and you head to the restaurant.
The restaurant is absolutely stunning, you can tell just by looking at it that it's a 5-star restaurant. You're brought to your seats and given menu's. Just like she did at lunch, Rebecca translates the menu for you and this time you let her order for the both of you in French, you've had enough nasty looks from waiters for one day. Your drinks arrive and you both cheers to new friends.
You're talking about your lives, where you grew up, what your friends are like, just generally getting to know each other.
"How old are you anyway?" She asks.
"I'm 28-"
"Oh my god. I could be your mother." She puts her face in her hands.
"Oh stop it no you can not! How old are you?"
"48." She says quietly.
"Oh shut up there's no way, I don't believe that for a second!"
"I am!"
"You look damn good for your age then, I thought you were like 40, 45 at the very oldest, and like in a 'wow she looks young for 45' way."
"Well thank you." She says as she laughs.
Your food arrives and smells delicious, you both dig in and laugh and chat over dinner. You order more drinks and dessert and when you're finished Rebecca pays the bill and you two head out.
"Okay, now for our last stop of the night." She says, looking at you. "The Eiffel Tower."
She grabs your hand and leads you to it. She buys two tickets and you take the elevator up to the very top. The sun is just setting and you stand by the railing, stunned by the beauty in front of you.
"Woah." You say with wonder in your eyes.
Rebecca stands next to you, both of you taking in the gorgeous view. You both stand there for a few minutes in silence, just enjoying each others company and the gorgeous sunset.
Once the sun sets Rebecca turns to you.
"Come down to one of the lower decks with me."
She grabs your hand and you follow her down a few flights of stairs to a lower level. You stand by the railing and look across the city, a cold breeze passes through causing you to shiver.
"Here," Rebecca says, taking off her scarf and wrapping it around you. "Better?"
"Yes, thank you." Her scarf smells like her, you close your eyes as you inhale the scent, you never though a scent would match a view so well, but for some reason, it just pulls the entire experience all together.
The lights on the tower shut off and you quickly turn around, unsure of what's happening.
"Woah, why did the lights go out?" You ask, looking around to see if anyone else is reacting.
After a few moments they come back on and you realize they're flickering. You look up to the top of the tower where you were earlier and you realize that the tower is sparkling.
Your eyes light up like a child on Christmas day, you stand there in awe as you watch the tower sparkle above you. You look over at Rebecca and see that she's looking at you, looking at the lights. The lights flashing across her face make her eyes glitter, you don't think you've ever seen someone look so beautiful as she does right now. You both look into each others eyes for a moment.
You're not sure how it happened or who made the first move, but in an instant your lips are together. You bring your hands to her face and she holds onto your waist. Her lips are the softest lips you've ever felt in your life, her tongue slides into your mouth and dances around yours. This moment is absolutely perfect and you don't ever want it to end.
What felt like hours later, but in reality was probably only a minute or two, your lips finally part. She gently brushes her lips against yours, you can feel her heart beating quickly as she holds you against her; she can probably feel that yours is racing too.
"Do you want to go back-" she asks quietly.
"Mhm." You mutter as you shake your head yes. Your lips meet once more and after they part you make your way back to the hotel.
You were worried that the moment would pass by the time you got back to the hotel, but the closer you got, the more eager the two of you became.
You get into her suite and you put your bags down, take your jackets off, you remove Rebecca's scarf and she pulls you into her again for another kiss. She kisses you passionately for a minute before leading you into her bedroom.
You both kick off your shoes and Rebecca comes up behind you and places her hands on your hips and kisses your neck. You sigh and lean back into her, tilting your head so she has more access to your neck. Her hands travel up your sides and you feel her move your hair aside and pull down the zipper of your dress. You let it fall to the ground and turn to face her and gesture for her to turn around. You grab the zipper and slide it down, you kiss down her back as the zipper exposes her skin. Her dress falls to the ground and you unclip her bra and you reach behind your back and unclip yours.
She leads you to the bed and pulls you into her, your bodies pressing against each other, your lips interlocked, your fingers tangled in her hair and her hands exploring your body. This might be the most passion you've ever felt in your life.
The night goes by in a blur. You have flashes of memories of you kissing her down her body, the way her skin felt on your lips, you remember the sounds you both made as you panted, the moans that escaped from her lips when you went down on her. How sweet she tasted, what her fingers felt like in your hair as she grabbed hold of you, the way her back arched when you hit that sweet spot deep inside her, how warm and wet she was, the way her skin felt under your fingers as you held onto her hips. The cries she made were the most beautiful sounds you had ever heard as you brought her to her climax and took her over the edge. You remember how her legs gently shook as she came down from her high, that she took a minute just to be able to catch her breath.
You remember the dominance she showed when she flipped you onto your back, how she definitely left marks as her lips traveled down your body. The ticklish sensations when she kissed and nibbled the inside of your thighs, what her tongue felt like when she finally made contact with your dripping center, the way her hair felt between your fingers as you grabbed hold of her. The sounds that you made when her fingers curled deep inside you, the way she felt inside of you, how your hips bucked wildly when she brought you to the edge. You remember seeing stars when you felt her lips wrap around your clit when she pushed you over the edge, the way you cried out her name when she had you ride out your orgasm as long as possible.
You remember her wrapping you in her arms when you were done, how she slowly and passionately kissed you, how your legs felt tangled with hers under the sheets. You remember looking into her gorgeous green eyes, how they reflected the sparkles from the glittering Eiffel Tower out the window. You realized in that moment you've never felt so connected, so bonded, so in love with anyone else in your life. Sure you had just met that morning, but over the course of the day you became closer to her faster than you have with anyone else. You let out a relaxed sigh and closed your eyes when she nuzzled her nose against yours, you felt her chest rise and fall against yours as she drifted off to sleep, you drifting off to sleep with her.
You wake up the next morning convinced that yesterday was just a beautiful dream. As your senses wake up you recognize her scent, you realize that you're still wrapped in each others arms, you try and savor the moment before you open your eyes, anxious that once you do, everything that you both had last night would be gone. You feel her shift in your arms and you open you eyes to meet hers, she has a worry in her eyes that makes your heart hurt a little. You can tell that she's worried about the same thing that you are, you smile and tuck a piece of her golden locks behind her ear, your hand coming to a rest on her cheek, caressing it with your thumb. A smile crosses her face and she brings her lips to yours, you hold onto her as you kiss her with a soft passion. Your lips part and you look into each others eyes for a moment.
"I was so worried I was going to wake up and this was all going to be a dream." You quietly say as you study the details of her face.
"So was I, or that I would wake up to an empty bed, or that I would wake up and you would tell me it was a mistake." She quietly responds as she strokes your hair.
"It certainly was not." You say with a smile as you gently kiss her.
You see a sadness in her eyes when your lips part.
"What's wrong?" You ask, concerned.
"When are you going to London?"
"My flight leaves tomorrow afternoon. Why? When do you go back?"
"Tonight." She says with a sadness in her voice that makes your heart hurt.
"Well, then I'll see you when I get in tomorrow."
"You don't have-"
"No, I want to. I don't want to not ever see you again after you leave tonight."
She looks a little surprised. "Really?"
"Really. I know it's crazy because we've known each other for literally 24 hours, but, I really like you. I haven't felt this close to someone in a long time, I don't want to lose this."
"Even though I'm 20 years your senior?"
"I don't care about that, not even a little bit. It wasn't even something that crossed my mind once."
She pulls you into her and kisses you, a smile left on both of your faces when you part.
"Where were you planning on staying in London?"
"Another hostel." You say with a smile.
"Well, that's not happening. Stay with me." She says as she looks deep into your eyes.
"I would love to."
"I'll have my driver pick you up from the airport and bring you to my house."
"You driver? How much fucking money do you have?!" You say as you laugh.
"A lot." She says with a laugh as she kisses you again.
"Hm, lucky me." You joke between kisses.
Rebecca laughs into the kiss.
You spend the rest of your last day together in Paris in her suite, most of it was spent in bed. You had breakfast and lunch delivered to the room and you both sat in the living room in fluffy robes laughing and cuddling while you ate. You laid in bed together for as long as possible, trying to stretch out every minute before she had to leave to catch her flight. Rebecca extended the room reservation for another night so you could stay. When it finally came time, you helped her pack her things and you got dressed and walked her down to the lobby.
You felt ridiculous for having a lump in your throat as you make your way downstairs, not only will you see her literally tomorrow, you've known her for less than two days. But in those two days you fell completely head over heels in love with her, even though neither of you have said it out loud, you're pretty sure she did too.
The driver puts her bags in the car and she stands in front of you and wraps her arms around you, you wrap your arms around her and you two hold each other for a minute. You look up at her and she meets your gaze, you look into her gorgeous eyes and she leans down and kisses you. When you part you realize her eyes are glassy, yours are too.
"I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?" She asks.
"Yes, absolutely."
"Good." She says as she lets go of you. "I l- I'll see you tomorrow." She catches herself from blurting out the three words you can't wait to be able to say to her.
"I'll see you tomorrow." She turns to get into the car. "Oh shit wait!" You say and she turns back to you.
"What?"
You start laughing and pull out your phone. "I need your number."
Rebecca starts laughing, a few of her tears escape and trickle down her cheeks. "Oh my god." She says grabbing your phone. "I can't believe we didn't do this yet."
She puts her number in your phone and hands it back to you. She kisses you once more and heads to the car.
"I'll see you tomorrow y/n."
"I'll see you tomorrow Rebecca."
She waves as the car pulls away and you watch it until it's out of sight. You look down at your phone and see her phone number and the contact name she put in for herself.
"Rebecca Welton💕"
You send her a text
I can't wait for tomorrow❤
You immediately get a response
Me either💕
You smile down at your phone and hold it close to your chest. You head back into the hotel and your phone starts ringing as you get into the suite. You look down and see that your friend is calling you.
"Hey!"
"YOU'RE ALIVE THANK GOD!"
"Yea, very much alive." You say with a laugh.
"Well I didn't hear from you for over 24 hours and I got worried that you died!"
You open your texts and realize you have 5 missed calls and 20+ text messages from her and a few other people.
"Where the hell were you?!" She asks.
"In heaven."
"Okay, you're gonna have to elaborate."
You tell her about your adventures with Rebecca and give her most of the details, there are definitely some you keep to yourself. You tell her that you're meeting Rebecca in London tomorrow and how excited you were.
"So honestly, it's a good thing you weren't able to come, because if you did, I probably would have never met her." You said.
"Is this the plot of some French rom-com you watched or did you actually just live in a Paris fairytale for the last two days?"
"Fairytale, for sure."
You talk to her for a while and your friend looks her up and freaks out when she reads about who she is.
"No, don't tell me anything, I want her to tell me when she's ready, I don't want to google her to learn about her."
"You're such a sap, but fine. But I will tell you, she's hot, and rich as fuck."
"Oh, I know, she spoiled the shit out of me. Honestly, even if she didn't have all of that money, I'd still be going to see her in London tomorrow."
"Are you in love with her already?"
"I know how fucking crazy this is going to sound, but yeah, I think I am."
You two continue to talk and catch up for the next hour, after you get off of the phone with her you text Rebecca your flight info and you go out to a little restaurant for dinner and walk around for a bit. You get back to the hotel and get ready for bed, impatiently waiting for tomorrow to come.
You phone dings and you roll over in bed and see that you have a text from Rebecca.
12 hours left, I miss you.
You smile and your heart does summersaults, you reply to her.
12 hours too long, I miss you too. I can't wait to see you. Goodnight Rebecca.
You put your phone down and try to fall asleep, excited for tomorrow to come so you can hold Rebecca in your arms again.

from one admirer to another : sunny side up?
Tumblr media
pairing: leon kennedy x reader || masterpost: from one admirer to another
Tumblr media
synopsis: from one admirer to another, an online penpal service, allows for two people with common interests to write to each other without ever revealing their actual address! Luckily for both you and Leon, you get matched up! What do eggs and Christmas even have in common anyway? sure hope it's that modeling business and NOT that Ada Wong addiction.
Tumblr media
featuring: reader as scrambled eggs // leon as christmas
Tumblr media
Dear scrambled eggs,
¿Empezar por flexionar tu francés? Dos pueden jugar ese juego. Just kidding. That was machine-translated. I know minimal Spanish. I asked a guy for directions once and he started speaking English to me. That's how bad my Spanish is.
The extent of my Spanish is whatever I learned in college for my one year of a required language. I know how to ask where the library is and how to not die. I think that's enough. Thankfully, I'm in France and I don't look nearly French enough. Though, someone has stopped me to ask me if I am French. I'm not.
Thank you for the snacks. I got an earful from my manager, but the calorie count somehow convinced him that I can eat it without dying (gaining weight). I shared some with the other people in my airbnb, but some of the other more popular models have already gone back. It was so good.
Don't worry, I'm not going to go insane. I'm nicely adjusted to the fact that I shouldn't actually start thinking I'm dating someone. I haven't needed to use that sentence of yours yet, but— sorry, just did. I just had a young woman come up to me and ask me if I was single or something and then repeat the question in English. Am I... the rizzler? (is that how you use that) I'm kidding. I told her I had a girlfriend... or whatever you told me to say.
You think I'm ever going to end up dating that model? I don't.
Oh, right. The other models wanted to thank you, so I'm mailing back a signed magazine from most of the models here. Only person that didn't sign was Ada (obviously). Hope you like it.
Catch you back in Raccoon? Christmas
Tumblr media
To be fair, Leon wasn't trying to smudge ink on his letter.
"T’as des beaux yeux, tu sais?"
Leon looks up at the person asking the question, blinking slowly.
"Ah, sorry. I... Je parle pas le Français." Leon laughs awkwardly.
"Oh, no problem." The girl smiles. "Single?"
"Ah, non. J'ai une petite amie?" Leon thinks that's how you say it. "Désolé."
"In America?"
Leon nods, waving as she nods and steps off.
Leon's heart rattles against his chest, heartbeat erratic as he takes a sip of his coffee, mumbling quietly to himself. He's still not used to being hit on by people. In retrospect, he really should be, but even as he writes the letter to you, he really thinks he's grateful no one took advantage of him in the industry. Raccoon wasn't an easy place to climb, and the fact that he's gotten up the ranks relatively cleanly is pretty impressive.
Well, always harder to climb ranks as a woman.
"Mind if I sit here?"
"A-Ada!" Leon nods, Ada smiling as she takes a seat. "Are you enjoying Paris?"
"I come here every year, so... same old." She hums. "I heard it's one of your first times. How did your shows go?"
"It went okay." Leon smiles.
"Writing a letter?"
"Penpal." He hums.
"One admirer to another?" She stares down at the handwriting, and Leon smiles.
"Yes."
"Huh. Interesting."
"Have you done it?"
"No. No time." She thanks the waiter for her coffee, taking a photo before Leon seals his envelope. "Who's your penpal?"
"An egg enthusiast." Leon hums. "When's your flight back?"
"In two hours. I like this place a lot." She hums, ripping her croissant in half. "Come here a lot with my friend." She raises a brow at him as she takes a bite, and Leon shakes his head.
"I can't control who I like."
"I know." She hums. "Don't break their heart."
"I can't do that if they don't like me."
"You don't know that."
Leon wonders if there's hope in her words.

Pairing: Elizabeth Donnelly x f!reader Warnings: Language, and minor hurt/comfort I suppose? It's fluff overall Summary: Despite working in different fields, you and Liz Donnelly have built up a rapport over the past few months. When Liz finally confronts you about your relationship status, you panic, not wanting to reveal the crush you've developed on her for fear you'll lose her from your life. Unbeknownst to you, the Bureau Chief has been harboring feelings of her own, and takes the matter very seriously.
---
"This is the only place around here that doesn't fuck up their espressos, so it's worth the line. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother," the woman in front of you said. You chuckled. The tiny cafe was a warm, bustling retreat that you savored going to each morning before work, despite the lengthy lines they always had. "They're the only place on my way to work that makes decent Americanos, so I feel you there," you replied, trying not to yawn.
"Nurse?" she asked, taking note of your scrubs and shoes you wished were cuter in the moment. They had the best comfort insoles you could find, but they certainly weren't as snazzy as the woman's leather loafers.
"Doctor, actually," you said with a shy smile. "I just got out of residency, so my soul isn't completely dead yet." The woman raised her eyebrows and nodded, impressed with your response. You took in her well-tailored pinstriped suit, leather briefcase, and starched white dress shirt with the collar popped. From experience with family members in law that gave off a similar aura, you could safely wager that the woman in front of you was an attorney. "Paralegal?" you asked with a wry smile. "Fuck you," she said, laughing.
---
"So then they wheel him in, and I'm guessing the guy's gonna have a few fractures from what they told us, right? Guy supposedly fell off a ladder and landed on top of a tree while he was landscaping," you said between bites of a croissant. "Nope. Nothing like that. They had to saw off the tree branch and bring it in with him, because it was stuck up inside him," you finished. The woman across from you, whose name you recently learned was Elizabeth, snickered and took another sip of her espresso. "I'm sure he'll be staying away from pine air fresheners for awhile," she joked, tossing her paper cup into the trash can as she walked towards the door. You giggled, thanking her as she held the cafe door open for you.
"Well, have a good day. I hope Alex stays out of your hair. That's her name, right?" "Yes," the blonde said. "Let's hope she does. I'm running low on Ibuprofen as it is." You parted ways on the sidewalk without another word. You began heading down towards Mercy General to start your shift, still smiling. It was nice to have a little chitchat here and there with people. Between college, medical school, and residency, you rarely had time to make friends with people outside of a hospital setting. It was finally beginning to feel like moving to the city was worth the extra expenses. "If you can't find a seat on the subway later," you heard Elizabeth say behind you. "I found you one," she said. You turned around. She gestured towards a Christmas tree strapped to the roof of a car headed down the street beside you. "Whatever," you laughed, flipping her off playfully before turning back around. --- "One espresso and one Americano for here," Elizabeth told the man behind the counter. From your position just behind her in line, you got a waft of her perfume over the smell of coffee beans and cinnamon. Something warmed in the pit of your stomach. "Elizabeth, you don't have to, really," you said, wondering if you looked more beat up than usual this morning after surviving an especially brutal shift yesterday. "Already did," she said, handing you your coffee. You admired the way her short blonde locks fell over her forehead this morning. You hadn't seen her style them that way before in the month you'd gotten to know her. "And it's Liz," she said, finishing her espresso in a single sip.
--- "We'll be trying the kid as an adult, so if the mother isn't a complete dumbass, she'll take the deal," Liz said between bites of the croissant you shared. Her fingers brushed against yours as she handed you a piece she broke off for you, and you fought to hide the blush that was threatening to bloom across your cheeks.
"We have a measles outbreak on one of the floors, so you're welcome to trade with me," you said with a smile. "I'd take catching measles over cleaning up after one of Alex's messes again, so you might just have yourself a deal," she replied with a wink. You were certain she didn't mean anything flirtatious by it, but it still made your heart skip a beat. Suddenly, a man accidentally walked into you, too preoccupied with the woman on his arm to notice you sitting at the table in the aisle. He exchanged a hasty apology, and Liz grimaced as the couple walked away. You mentally forgave the pair, as Valentine's Day was around the corner. You saw so many crumpled bodies get carted into the ER each day that you were just thankful they were able to walk in the first place, for that matter. "By the way," she said, her tone shifting into one you couldn't quite place. "You got any plans for the holiday?" Your eyes widened. It was an odd question, as you'd always known Liz to be brash and strictly business, but it was a normal thing to be curious about someone you were getting to know. You still hated the prospect of answering it honestly though, as you had recently come to terms with the fact that you found Liz rather attractive, and your daily meetups over breakfast and coffee had become the highlight of your weekdays. Though it had only been a few months, you now thought about her while you were at work, wondering what trouble the ADAs were stirring up for her, and even when you laid down to head off to sleep. The woman hadn't given you any indication of being with someone, and she didn't wear a ring or talk about anyone romantically. To be honest, you were too afraid to ask her about her own romantic life, for fear you'd get an answer you wouldn't like.
Across the table, she raised her eyebrows impatiently. Your heart began to race sickeningly, a bead of cold sweat sliding down the back of your neck. Your eyes darted around the room, scanning the menus and signs that adorned the walls of the cafe. "Joe Cortado," you blurted. You immediately wished a sinkhole would open up below you and swallow you into the earth. It was just about the stupidest thing you could've said. Liz's face went blank. Something in her eyes shifted. "Pity. Guy sounds like a douchebag."
---
"Elliot, I need you to run a background check for me," Liz said coolly. The detective stared at her quizzically. "With all due respect, ma'am, what's this all about?" he asked, crossing his arms against his chest.
"The why isn't relevant to you." "So this isn't related to a case?" Liz tilted her head and furrowed her brow. "Detective, if Kathy was spending time around some schmuck, tell me you wouldn't run his name." Elliot smirked, eventually nodding in agreement. "Who's the schmuck we're looking for?"
Liz slid him a piece of paper with a name scribbled across it. --- You rifled through your cabinet, mentally swearing at yourself over never having gotten around to buying espresso cups in the time since you'd moved here. Your mom's old Winnie the Pooh mug you took with you when you moved would have to do. "Liz, is there something wrong?" you asked, turning to the woman that had an iron grip on your kitchen countertop. "Tell me something." "Something," you replied, giggling. She rolled her eyes and huffed. "Are you aware of the kind of company you're keeping?" Your face scrunched up, unsure of what she was getting at. "What do you mean?" She took a deep breath, not even questioning the mug you handed her. "I'm concerned for your safety." "Liz, if this is about the measles outbreak, I'm fine. I don't work in that ward, I promise," you said, trying to throw her a reassuring smile. Her frown didn't lighten up. "I am not talking about measles, I'm talking about the good for nothing low life that probably has plans to take you to some two star restaurant for a half-rate steak this weekend for Valentine's Day," she began ranting, some sort of floodgate having burst. "And then he'll flounder on top of you for five minutes on his sorry excuse for a bed before he runs off and guns down a couple other gangbangers to top off his night." You froze across from her. You were thankful you hadn't been holding anything at the moment, because you surely would have dropped it. "Who are you talking about? I don't know anyone in a gang," you replied, laughing uncomfortably. "So he hasn't told you, or are you too blind to see that, too?" Liz's eyes steeled. "I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what this is in regards to, and I can tell it's eating at you," you said, walking closer to her. The attorney's jaw tightened. "Joe Cortado," she said through clenched teeth. Your breath stopped in your chest. Liz's eyes narrowed. "I had one of the detectives run his name. Were you aware that he's racked up charges for aggravated assault and armed robbery? If that wasn't enough for you, he's currently under investigation for running a counterfeit operation." You couldn't help but let out a laugh, running a hand across your forehead. "I don't see how this is funny," Liz said, clearly even more aggravated by your reaction. You took a deep breath before resting a tentative hand on her shoulder. "Liz, he's not real." "Excuse me?" You swallowed thickly, mentally kicking yourself at how poorly this was all coming to light. "I panicked when you asked me whether I had plans for Valentine's Day, and found the first words on the cafe menu that could pass as a name," you managed. "Truth is...I didn't want to admit that I've fallen for you, because I don't want to lose you."
Liz's gaze fell to the mug in her hands. She chewed at her bottom lip. "Why did it matter so much to you, anyway?" you asked slowly. "I feel bad that he turned out to be a real person, because you were ready to have him dragged into custody." Liz was uncharacteristically silent for a few moments. She then looked up at you, wide brown eyes holding the faintest vulnerability in them. "Because I was hoping to make plans with you myself," Liz answered. "To be honest, I wouldn't have taken well to anything you would've said besides admitting you didn't have plans." Stunned, your jaw fell slack. She set the mug down on the countertop and turned to you. She reached out and cupped your cheeks, pulling you into a soft kiss. You involuntarily sighed into it, arms looping up around her neck.
"So..." you started, fiddling with a button along her shirt when you finally broke the kiss. "What are we doing for Valentine's Day this weekend?" She pulled you closer to her chest and kissed your forehead. "Buying you a proper set of espresso cups."

Harry finds a new favorite artist and y/n is worried.
★★★
Harry is a hopeless romantic.
He loves romance novels, romcoms, and valentines day. He falls hard.
So after meeting y/n he has fallen down a rabbit hole and has not stopped listening to love songs. He is creating fake scenarios in his head about them being together and making an entirely new playlist of songs that remind him of her. He's discovered a new artist while making said playlist, who happens to have the same first name as her. Y/n y/l/n. He particularly loves her song "Feels Like" gets him in this hyped mood.
Every day, he goes and opens up the bookshop and waits for y/n to show up. She comes in with a book and a notebook, and she reads and writes in the notebook. He doesn't know what she is writing but he is sure it's wonderful. They talk to each other like they were childhood friends. He feels comfortable and happy.
He so desperately wanting to go on a date with her.
Harry just wants to know what is going on in y/ns mind. Does she like him? Is he just a friend? He is so confused.
★★★
"Hey Harry!" Y/N walks. She hears some light music in the background, it's sounds painfully familiar she just can't put her finger on it.
"Y/n! Have you eaten anything yet cause I have some croissants I'm toasting up rn?" She nods 'no', "good. Wanted to have tea with you." His face is flushed at the omission.
"What song is this?" Still not being able to recognize this song since the volume is so low.
"It's by this artist y/n y/l/n," her face drops, "she is literally amazing. Also I think it is so cool she has the same first name as you." He looks at y/n and senses she's a bit panicked. "What's wrong, you look like you saw a ghost?"
She gets the feeling she needs to tell him the truth. Y/n knows she can trust Harry.
"Harry, can I tell you something?"
"Anything." Now he's the worried one.
Y/n looks up her own name for the first time in months. She laughs a bit seeing the first search be 'Y/n Y/l/n dead?'. She opens up a picture and is faced with her old life.
"Harry?" He whispers a small 'yes?' "Do you know what Y/n Y/l/n looks like?"
"No." He hasn't been this nervous around Y/n since he met her a few weeks ago.
She shows him the picture.
Tumblr media
"Holy. Fuckinv. Shit." He scrunched up his nose and rubbed his nose. "That's either you or a secret twin."
"That's me." She refuses to meet his eyes. "There is a long story about how this happened, but I don't want to talk about it. All I want to say right now is that I made music, it got out, and people like it." She takes a deep breath. "You can ask questions but I can't promise I'll answer them."
"Well..." Harry rubs his neck. "Why did you move here?"
"I was overwhelmed. I couldn't handle it. Too soft for all of it." She finally looks at him.
"I want to ask more, but I need to process this."
"That's all okay. I understand how all of this is too much."
Under his breath, so quiet he thinks she can't hear. "You're just perfect."

Hey bunny! Pretty pretty please could Konig serve me a croissant, also some crepes and millet-feuille? Oh and some champagne would be lovely with that 🙏💖✨
the bakery menu
there are still tons of items on the menu! feel free to submit your own! i'm happily accepting requests! as for this one, i am so happy to get a könig request! i always feel like i focus so much on price or ghost that i always forget the mountain of a man. and the prompts are very good as well! i did change croissant a little bit, still the same vibe of a prompt, just switched up the language a little! thank you for the request!
croissant ("i wonder if your father knows what happens during the off hours. if he knows you're here with me.") + crepe ("pretty girl.") + mille-feuille (“that’s it, fuck, that’s a good girl.”) + champagne (sugar daddy) served by könig (call of duty!)
cw: smut/pwp, sugar daddy-adjacent, daddy issues, size kink/difference (it's könig ofc), könig in love, dirty talk, cockwarming that turns into lap sex, unprotected sex
Tumblr media
könig never imagined himself with another person. he simply thought that his line of work and his anxiety would scare too many people off. but you were not like most people, where most were scared by the mountain of a man with a few too many facial scars, you saw a helpful boyfriend to help you move your stuff into his apartment.
you were a total go-getter. nothing could stop you, you were brave and kind. most of all sweet and könig thought that he'd die happy in between your thighs. he hated that he had to be gone for so long.
that was where the money came in. he wouldn't call it a sugar daddy situation, that would imply there was no real emotional connection. and there was, you were already pointing out engagment rings when you were out together.
there was a definite strong emotional connection.
könig just wanted to make sure that you were taken care of when he was away. because his time away from you could be a few days or a few months, and he wanted to make sure his little schatzi was alright. yes, yes, yes, he knew you had a career, but a little (read: a lot) extra was what he wanted to give to his darling.
the other issue was your father. he was high up in the chain of command for kortac. which meant that you were off limits, but you honestly didn't care. you were a grown woman. your father agreed through grit teeth when you told him you were moving in with könig. your father couldn't stop you, and at least you wanted to live with someone who could protect you. könig was huge.
despite it all you were a happy couple, könig was in love with you. his precious little flower. he'd do anything to keep you happy. and where he took care of you financially (despite your protests), you took care of him in every other way.
one of those ways was being such a good girl for him. his hand was currently in your hair, made your skull seem small in its grasp. you knew that the 6'10 man probably had crushed someone's skull with his bare hands. but his grip on you was loose, the idea of him hurting you made his skin crawl.
you were softly licking his cock while he watched the football game. originally it was supposed to help you beloved relax after two weeks away on a mission. but it was hard to focus on his beer and the game when your pink tongue was brushed against the underside of his cock.
you were great a lot of things sexually, but you were terrible at cockwarming. anyway you tried to do it, you'd just get too excited and do more than just warm him.
"meine liebe." he said softly, "please."
you looked up at him, his cock pressed against your nose. you said, "sorry, honey. i just can't help myself."
"pretty girl." he said, "such a pretty girl."
you giggled as you gave his heavy balls a kiss, "thank you, my love." but made a small yelp noise when könig picked you up from under the shoulders and got you on his lap. you felt his erection against your clothed pussy.
"i want to feel your pussy." he said, "you look better in my lap then on your knees." his voice was such a hot rumble but it carried such a sweetness to it, you couldn't help but eagerly peel off your sleeping shorts and underwear.
you got in his lap properly, knees on either side of his large thighs and sank onto his cock like you had done a million times. you wrapped your arms around your lover and rested against his broad chest. his cock nudged against the back of your pussy and you felt content.
one of the few things that would calm you down was the heft of your lover's cock snug in your damp pussy. it was a far cry from when you first got together and he wouldn't fit in you.
könig put the beer down on the side table before it tumbled out of his hand. your pussy was a familiar presence for him. the tight fit felt good, "that’s it, fuck, that’s a good girl"
you kissed the scar by his mouth and said softly, "thank you, my love."
he cupped your behind and held you while he continued watching the game. austria was getting their asses kicked but the sensation of you seated in his lap made him honestly not care. usually he was an avid football fan, but to have his sweet girl curled up on him felt good.
you mumbled sweet nothings into his ear. he felt the pleasure grow in his gut which meant that you were getting excited too. you started to roll your hips a little, you impatient little thing.
no wonder, the austrian loved you so much.
"mmm, honey." you whimpered.
"i thought you were meant to warm me?" he chuckled softly as he held you.
you replied, "i can't help it. it feels so good. it makes me want more, more, more!" you were soaked and it drove könig crazy as well. two forces that came together.
"alright, meine liebe. i got you." he kissed the apple of your cheek. such a precious little thing."
the more you got cock-drunk the looser your lips became. it was a good thing you weren't a spy, or else a little pressure on your pussy would have you spilling international secrets!
"i wonder what my father knows what happens in the off time. what you and i do together in this little house." you giggled as you rolled your hips. your nails dug into his shoulders.
he groaned, "meine liebe." he hated being teased, but he didn't want to push you too hard and bruise your cervix. something he had done a few times already.
your thrusts were almost cute, little humps as you kept his cock inside of you. you were a far cry from cockwarming. but your boyfriend could never deny you a single thing. so he placed a hand on your hip and the other on the arm of the sofa and let his precious little flower ride him.
he held you steady as you rode him. his cock pressed against your softest areas and earned sweet little moans. your airy little moans, the wetness between your legs, the heat in your face. he lucked out, whatever god was out there blessed him with his cute little flower.
"please, honey."
"i've got you, meine liebe. my pretty girl." he purred as he knew you were getting close. you didn't last too long, he could tell by the stagger in your thrusts and how desperate your moans were.
he softly rubbed up against you as you rode him. a counter thrust to you erratic movements. you were just so painfully cute like this. you peppered his face with kisses and his heart swelled.
it wouldn't be much longer before you dug your pretty nails into his shoulders and clenched around his cock. you were trying to milk him as you slowed down. you slumped against your lover.
his cock was still painfully hard inside of you, it took him a good while to finish off. but you were out of comission for at least twenty minutes. orgasms hit you fast and hard.
but that was fine, he kept your face against his chest as you calmed down and he then grabbed his beer and took a hearty sip of the drink. he rubbed your soft hair and relaxed.
after the game he'd take you to the bedroom and wring two more orgasms out of you before he shoved all his cum into your sweet cunt. you told him once jokingly that you literally had 0% austrian genes in you, but he thought with the amount of cum in you that number was at least at 5%. <3

ephemeral - chapter one
a/n: hello everyone!! finally had some inspiration, so this will be the first part of a lockwood x reader multipart series!! i hope you enjoy!!
warning: angst, mild language gn reader
full collection: here
It's a warm day out, and you can feel the heat of it even deep within the kitchen at Arif's, intensified by the humming ovens. Sunlight beams through the open window, and you can faintly hear singing birds within the bustling noise out in the front of the store. Summertime is always busy, and although not many people can actually sit in, queues are often out the door, bringing with them loud conversations and whispered gossip.
Soft music plays from a speaker as you roll out some dough, hands dusted in flour, and you find yourself quietly singing along. The smell of pastries of all kinds baking is soothing.
You're the only one working in the back. Arif is dealing with orders at the counter. Kate and Lana are off running deliveries. Jack is on holiday, revelling somewhere in the Scottish countryside. But you don't mind. Even with all the customers, the rush is something you've grown used to over the past few months, and you've found ways to manage it. The less you rush, the quicker the food gets done, as strange as it sounds.
When Arif appears in the kitchen doorway, your hands are buried in a fresh batch of dough you're in the middle of making.
Arif's a big guy, but he's got a sweet face and an incredible recipe book, so it's no wonder he's so popular in this part of London. Even though he's been working out front, he wears his trademark pink apron that had been a gift from you and the others for his birthday. He's smiling, rubbing his hands together enthusiastically. A habit, you've found, when he's about to start baking.
"Shift swap?" you say.
He nods. "A few customers sitting in, but the queue has died down for now. I'll wait out front while you clean up."
It doesn't take long to finish making the dough and clean your hands. Swiftly, you swap your flour-covered apron for your front-of-house one, which looks much more presentable, but Arif still has to dust flour from your hair as you pass him.
It's routine now. Come to the bakery in the morning, work the kitchen until lunch, and then swap into the front until closing. Surprisingly, it took only a few days for you to fall into the routine, despite the dozens of late nights you worked in your previous position, and you've found yourself enjoying it.
Even if you have to hear his voice almost every day.
He comes in around ten in the morning, so it's not like you have to see him or be the one to serve him. Usually, you're in the middle of making a fresh batch of pain au chocolat or scones, depending on what day it is and which regulars have arrived, and you know that that's down to Arif's rota. Unknowingly, he's saved you a lot of unease. You're not even sure that he's aware you work here now.
But today is the exception.
You're in the middle of refilling the display cases with doughnuts and croissants when he appears, framed with beautiful golden sunlight. His hair falls over his forehead, brushing just above his dark eyes, lined with thick lashes. The past few months of summer heat have not permitted him a tan, but there are a few very faint freckles on the bridge of his nose. And despite the temperature, he still wears that ridiculously long greatcoat.
"Surely you're melting in that," you say, closing the case and coming to stand by the till. "It's twenty-five degrees out."
It's now that you notice the frozen look of shock on his face. His eyebrows, barely visible under his hair, are almost comical in their position, raised halfway up his head, and his mouth hangs open slightly.
"(name)," he says after opening and closing his mouth a few times. "I didn't - um, where's Arif?"
"In the back making the goods." You keep your voice light, but it's easy to pick out the undertone of strain in it.
You haven't seen Anthony Lockwood in eight months. Yes, you've heard his voice frequently when he's come to place orders. Yes, you've even made his orders - and been tempted to replace the almond sauce he likes with lemon - but it's insanely different from standing in front of him now. Even though he's uncharacteristically quiet, all you can hear is your last conversation together and the horrible things you both said.
"What can I get you?" you ask, trying to shove down the awkward tension that's forming between you both. "Just the usual?"
"You know my order?"
"I've been making it for the past eight months. And I also used to be on the receiving end of the deliveries." Already, you're typing it into the register. "Two jam doughnuts, one glazed, half a dozen almond fingers, and three croissants, all for delivery, right?"
He looks even more shocked than when he first saw you. "Uh, yes, please... Oh, and -"
"Three teas to go?"
That part isn't memorised because of your job. That part you know from your time spent at Portland Row. You know exactly how much milk to put in each cup.
"Erm, yeah, if you wouldn't mind."
"I don't mind at all. In fact, I get paid for this."
He hands you the money for the total order, and you print out the delivery order, slipping it through a small window behind the counter that leads to the kitchen. Arif's hand, covered in chocolate chip cookie dough, snatches it away.
Lockwood stands as you fill the to-go cups with tea and milk, and he watches carefully as you squeeze a dollop of honey into one of them.
"You know," he says, "I've actually been looking for you. We need to talk."
You hand him the cookies, eyeing the bakery door. "Yes, well, you've found me, but talking will have to wait. I've got customers to serve."
As if on cue, a short old woman, one of your favourite regulars, clears her throat behind Lockwood. Next to him, she looks tiny, but the look on her face has him shuffling to the side and out of the way.
"Just the usual, Nancy?"
She nods, and you type in her order.
"When do you finish?" Lockwood asks as you step back over to the coffee machine and begin making the order. You take a few cookies out of the case as you wait.
"That's for me to know," you say. Then, plastering on your customer service smile, "Thank you for popping in. See you around."
But he doesn't leave yet. He watches as you serve the next few customers, only hesitating when the queue begins building up again for the lunchtime rush. Relief overtakes you when he does leave, finally free from the weight of his gaze, and you can breathe again.
You're not very lucky, though.
An hour later, he reappears just shortly after the rush has died down and there are only a couple of customers left, sitting and chatting at the tables. He saunters up to the counter, filled with the confidence he lacked earlier.
But you know him. You can see that it's not entirely genuine from the way his fingers discreetly tug on his pocket zip and fiddle with the hilt of his gleaming rapier.
"Hello. What can I get for you?"
"A few minutes of your time."
Resisting the urge to roll your eyes, you say, "I'm afraid that'll be quite expensive. And, unless you're going to order any food or drinks, it's also quite improbable that you'll get that order."
"Fine. I'll have one of those."
Your eyes follow his pointed finger and you raise your brows. "Apricot Danish? Lockwood, you don't like apricot."
"Lovely of you to remember. I'll have one anyways."
Begrudgingly, you pluck one out of the case and place it in a little box once he's handed you the money owed. The whole time, his eyes follow you.
"Now, how about those few minutes of your time?"
You almost smile, ready to tell him that you've no time to spare, and another customer is entering the bakery, but Kate, one of your coworkers, appears, smiling.
"I've finished deliveries," she says, brushing her dark hair into a ponytail. "Arif says you're on break."
The look you give her is murderous, but she only grins, nudging you out of the way as she pulls on a pair of gloves and greets the next customer. Lockwood looks slightly too happy.
"Go sit somewhere," you grumble. "Give me a minute."
He disappears, and you huff as you tear off your gloves and apron.
Although it's been over half a year since your fight, seeing Lockwood brings it all up to the surface, bubbling and boiling. Your skin feels hot with anger and sorrow you haven't felt for a good while, fresh as if you've been transported back to the day it all happened.
Lockwood is sitting at one of the corner tables, far from the other customers, nudging the box holding his purchase. At the sight of your approach, he perks up, donning that infamous white-toothed smile of his.
"Here you go." He pushes the box over as you sit.
You stare at him. "What?"
"For you. You used to get them all the time."
Part of you wants to leap with joy at the fact that he remembers a small detail like that, but it's squashed almost instantaneously by your anger and confusion. You don't touch the box as if it is contaminated. It hurts that someone so distant from you now remembers such a thing.
"What do you want?"
"We need to talk."
"Yes, you've mentioned. We're currently talking."
He shoots you a look, but there's no anger behind it. Not even frustration. "I need your help. We need your help."
"We being you, Lucy, and George?"
"Yes."
"And what makes you think I'll help you?"
The question stumps him, but he recovers quickly, brushing imaginary dust off his pristine white shirt. It's infuriating how the sunlight hits his face, emphasising all of his perfect features. His eyes sparkle like molten bronze.
"It's a big case, a lot of money involved, and you could get a decent cut of it. There are some things we need, but that involves -" He lowers his voice, leaning close to you - "stealing." Sitting back again, he speaks normally once more. "Now, if this were any normal case, we'd be fine on our own. But it's not a normal case. The documents we need are at the Rotwell building, and nobody knows that building like you do."
You cross your arms. "You're telling me all of this as if I'd accept. Judging from the fact that you want me to steal from the second-largest agency in the country, it'll most likely be a pretty dangerous job and, while that would rack up a lot of money, I'm sure you can tell that I'm not an agent anymore. I'm rusty."
"(name), you know I wouldn't be here asking you for help unless we really needed it."
"The last time we saw each other, you called me a hindrance to the team and demanded I leave lest I kill myself or the others."
He winces. "And if I remember correctly, you called me, and I quote, 'a massively conceited asshole who cares more about his company's status than the lives of his agents'."
"And I'd say it again. But if I'm such a problem, why come to try and hire me again?"
"It's temporary," Lockwood says. "And, like I said, you know Rotwell's just as well as George knew Fittes', if not better. We need this information."
"What do I get out of it? Peace from you? A written apology?"
"A cut of the money."
"Yes, you said, but do you really think that a sum of money is going to console me when I'm working with the guy who fired me because of a small slip-up?"
"It wasn't small -"
"It most certainly was. Do you think I meant to trip over Lucy? The iron circle had been fixed immediately, and no one other than me was hurt. My arm was in full working order a week after it happened, thank you for asking."
He's quiet for a minute, pondering, but his eyes are unnerving. They follow your every move as if waiting for you to pounce. You don't miss the way his fingers tap on the table, a tell-tale sign of his nerves.
"You won't see me again."
"What?"
"You heard me." He finally looks away, finding the Apricot Danish more interesting than you. "I'll make sure you don't see me again. Things ended badly, worse than they should've, and there's obviously still a lot of animosity on your part, so I'll stay away until you're ready to speak to me again, or forever if I have to."
Forever...
A small part of you, the same part that enjoyed the feeling of being known, is screaming, begging you not to accept. But, at the same time, it's painful merely sitting in front of him right now, and, if he's offering you peace from that, you should take it. It won't take long to get this job out of the way, and then you can be free of him.
"You don't have to decide right now," he clarifies. "But, if you accept the offer, come to the house once your shift finishes. We can discuss things then."
As he stands, he pushes the box holding the Danish closer to you.
Then, with a swift brush of air, he's gone, leaving nothing but a sense of... confusion, anger, and a little lingering absence, in his wake.

Spiderwebs #32: Redmond
Masterlist
content: past starvation
• —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
The truck stop had a store beside it. It was a warm morning, considering they were in the middle of winter. There were still not many people around. He was hungry.
The hunger came on with a violent force and speed, waking him up before the sunshine or Heather ever could. Now that Jackie had access to soup and tea and such luxuries, it seemed that his appetite had returned. His head ached, his limbs ached, his chest ached, and his guts shredded themselves into knots. It was a desire that drowned out all other wants, suffocated all thoughts, as sudden and intrusive as a bullet wound.
It was a wonder, really, how he survived this long without any proper sustenance. He could believe in gouged eyes, severed limbs, and charred skin, but surviving extreme starvation was a little ridiculous. As an esteemed biochemist once said: was he a fucking plant? That wouldn’t make any sense, either. There was no sunlight in the basement. Those pages of Oliver Twist he gnawed on couldn’t have possibly been enough. But his biology didn’t care for such intricacies. He needed to deal with it immediately, and he would suffer immensely until these demands were met.
“Heather.”
“Yes, Jackie?”
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d be digging my own grave. I feel like I’m gonna keel over. Or puke.” He put his head against her shoulder. “I’m starving. Can I get—I don’t know, whatever this truck stop sells. I could eat a horse right now.”
“I’ll get you something. Don't be so dramatic.” She unlocked her door. “Do you think you can walk?”
“I can walk. A little.”
“Then you’re coming with me.” Heather cleared her throat. “Listen carefully. If anybody asks, your name is Elijah Smith. You’re my boyfriend, and we’re here on holiday. Don’t talk to anybody unless prompted. Try not to look so… I don’t know, inexplicably exhausted? Try to act natural.”
“Your boyfriend?” He cocked his head to one side, grinning.
“Funny you should mention that. I actually spent a lot of time thinking about this. You could pretend to be my brother, but the problem is that I’m an only child. Any investigator with half their wits could read my files and find out we’re lying. I’m not married, either, and I’ve never been divorced, so you can’t take my hypothetical husband’s name. You could be my friend, obviously, but that would sound suspicious. We will be sleeping in the same room, after all. People think romantic relationships are more important, and I’d rather not elicit any strange looks if we check into a hotel together. Any attention is bad attention. That about covers it, I think. Oh, and I don’t think you could ever pretend to be my dad. No offense, but you barely look twenty.”
"...Oh. Okay."
“By the way, if you’re planning to yell for help, don’t bother. I’ve got a pistol in my bag.” She opened the car door. There were sounds of seagulls—were they near water?—and the distant murmur of wind, as well as the dull roar of trucks above all that. “Come on. We don’t have all day.”
He left the car as well, and managed to stand up despite the debilitating sensation in his stomach. The air was rich with the scent of lake scum and dead fish, and quite a bit warmer than the biting breeze he’d felt the night before. There were a few trucks around, and one or two cars. A stray candy wrapper crashed and stumbled across the concrete. The yellow plastic was so vivid to him. Brilliant as a sheaf of gold, catching the sunlight like a newly cut jewel. It was lovely to be outside again.
Heather took his hand, a little too tightly, and they walked into the store. A bell rang above the doorway. It was not very big, but not crowded either. Its stock was similar to a convenience store, except they also sold pastries and coffee. No tea. He hadn’t seen this much food since… well. There were no polite euphemisms for kidnapping. It was hard for Jackie to take his eyes off the strudels and croissants, even as Heather spoke to him.
“I don’t know if they have soup,” she said in a low tone. “Do you think you can eat something else?”
He nodded. “I want a muffin. Can I have a muffin?”
“Alright, I’ll buy a muffin. Go look at some hunting knives or something. Don’t leave the store, though. I’ll come over when I’m done.”
He glanced over to the aisle of hunting knives. “Why do they have so many?”
“Lord knows.” She let go of his hand.
He was left standing there, feeling rather lost in such a public space.
He could have screamed. He could have run outside and kept running until his lungs went raw, or until the police found him. But to risk losing Heather’s trust would be suicide—no, a kamikaze, considering how much was at stake for her. And he would never get that muffin. Besides, he did sympathize with her situation. It wasn’t easy being on the run. He didn’t have to make things difficult for her.
Either way, the cost of failure was too high. It was hard to forget the scars along his chest, or the burns on his skin. Escape was a pipe dream best left to rot.
The hunting knives were not particularly interesting, but they were something new, and he was always craving something new lately. They were small, curved on the edges. Used for skinning animals, he assumed. He didn’t think such a tiny knife could kill anything. But they were probably meant to be souvenirs, rather than actual tools. Some of them had little designs on the handles. There was one with the words Redmond, Washington on it, under the city’s pine tree symbol.
Redmond? We aren’t in Seattle anymore? Did Heather even live in Seattle? He had always assumed so. His old apartment was in Seattle. But it wasn’t a stretch to assume she’d gone hunting out of town, so to speak. She could have driven across the state in order to abduct her newest organ donor, even across the country. They couldn’t have reached a new state so quickly, though, so she probably still lived somewhere in Washington. Also, didn’t she have an address? Obviously. Everyone did. Why didn’t he check the address above her garage? There had to be one, but it had completely slipped his mind. I’m such an idiot. That’s why I got into this mess in the first place.
“Here’s your muffin.”
He jumped. “Shit, Heather, you could have said hello first. How do you walk so quietly?”
“You’re just zoned out half the time. You wouldn’t notice me if I came in with a tuba and a clown nose.” She gave him the muffin. In her other hand was another coffee, in a cup made out of green paper. “We can eat in the car. Come on.”
He followed her to the door. The bell rang above their heads, one last time. The birds continued to screech, somewhere unseen in the bright blue sky.
The smell of stagnant water returned, but only until they entered the car again, where it was quickly replaced by the smell of leather seats. Jackie shifted to get as comfortable as he could, while Heather tapped her fingers on the wheel.
He studied his muffin. It had chocolate chips. He hadn’t eaten chocolate in… he wasn’t sure, actually. There had been a chocolate cake, at some point. So many shiny, new things. He was a magpie in a jeweler’s house, so fascinated by all these wonders of life. Another shiny, new thing to pass the time.
He liked muffins. He wanted to eat it. Of course. Obviously. Why wouldn’t he? He was so hungry, God. He couldn’t imagine going on a strike now. He would faint first. The craving was so strong that he didn’t know how to even start. He hadn’t eaten in so long.
“What’s wrong with the food?” she asked.
“Sorry.” He kept his stare down. Didn’t Heather have a thing against apologies? Too late now, anyway. He just needed to eat. He needed to get it over with. It made him sick, rising with a feeling like nausea in his stomach. His vision came unfocused, like rows of tilting mirrors, like the world was tilting on its axis. But he couldn’t look away, or stay still any longer.
“You know what, I think I forgot something in there.” Abruptly, Heather opened the car door and stepped outside. “Don’t wait for me. Bye.”
He turned towards her, but she was already gone, and he was by himself.
He let out a short, shaky exhale. She definitely didn’t forget anything. It was surely a lie. Besides, it wasn’t like Heather to leave him unattended. She was probably watching from somewhere remote, where he couldn’t see her. But that was what mattered: he couldn’t see her, couldn’t feel her stare.
She’d done it for his sake, to give him that thin veneer of privacy. Was it guilt, or apathy? Disgust at his weakness? Or maybe even kindness, despite his better judgment.

Late afternoon, in downtown Castelia
// This post was made in collaboration with the wonderful @aerial-aceing-it! Also this is a long one, so bear with me
The streets of Castelia City were mercifully less crowded than they usually were. Despite this, a considerable number of people still hurriedly passed by the bakery window. Marvin watched from his table as business continued as usual. He took a moment to look over his shoulder at the door as the bell chimed, but the person who walked in wasn’t who he was waiting for. He drummed his fingers against the wood and huffed in amusement as Liechi chased them around.
The people carried on, but after some time, the jingling bell announced someone more familiar. Briefly scanning the room, a smile crept onto her face as she spotted him and made her way over to the table.
“Hello!” Sasha said, giving a small wave to him, “It’s nice to see you.”
She slipped the backpack she was carrying off her shoulders as she sat in the chair across from him. Marvin grinned and gently corralled Liechi to his side of the table, making room for Sasha.
“Long time no see! How’s it going? I hope getting here wasn’t too much of an issue.”
She laughed a bit as she wiggled a finger at Liechi, “What a cute little thing.”
Liechi immediately zeroed in on Sasha’s finger and attempted to peck it. Before she could, Marvin gently scooped her into his hands and held her to his chest. She stopped wriggling once Marvin began to pat her head.
She looked back up at him as she seemed to remember she had to respond, “Oh, yeah, it wasn’t too terrible. Though the train was a bit delayed, which was a bit annoying.”
“The subway is never not busy. Between normal transit and the battle carriages, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it not packed full of people,” He shrugged, “Glad you made it though!”
Her hand came to her mouth as she laughed a bit, “I’d be sincerely concerned if I somehow didn’t, for the state of the transport network.”
Marvin snorted, “Oh god, I didn’t mean for that to sound ominous! I’d hope the subway doesn’t just lose people randomly like some sock in the dryer.”
“You never truly know, really.” A cheeky grin pressed on her face. “Some say if you hear the conductor’s voice announce a stop that isn’t there, you’ll disappear and never return.”
“That sounds like a really bad.. What are those things called, the scary internet stories?” He snapped his fingers together a few times, brow furrowing, “Creepy.. Creepy something?”
“Cory says they’re called ‘creepypastas.’ What children these days are into baffles me, but I’ll support them.”
Marvin smacked the table, “Yes! Creepypastas! Those things! God, yeah, I have no idea what folks are up to online outside of our sphere. But hey if they’re having fun I won’t complain.”
Sasha nodded, “I don’t think there’s any harm in it. Though-” she took on a mocking tone, - Back in my day, all we had was throwing rocks at the pavement!”
Marvin gave her an incredulous look, “Sounds festive.”
“Festive?” She said with a bemused laugh, but then glanced over at the counter. “Oh, right, would you like to get something before we leave?”
“Oh, no, I’m all set. Liechi has been eyeing people’s croissants but those aren’t good for her, are they buddy?” Marvin failed to answer Sasha’s question, instead giving his partner pokemon a little tap on the beak. Liechi nipped at him, still grumpy that she couldn’t have a pastry.
Wiggling her finger at the little Pidove again, though at a distance, she giggled, “She’s a silly little one, isn’t she? And alright, I think I’ll grab something myself though.”
Marvin rolled his eyes, “That’s the understatement of the century. Remind me to tell you about her hoard.”
As she got to her feet, she raised an eyebrow at him. “Oh, is she one of those little thieves? I would expect nothing different, Pi is the same way,” she said, amusement in her voice.
“She’s stolen at least five watches. I don’t know where she gets these things and it’s not like she’d tell me if she could.”
“My goodness, you really have a little kleptomaniac on your hands, don’t you?” She slipped the bag back on her shoulders.
Marvin sighed and stood up, grabbing his crutches as he did, “You don’t know the half of it.”
Sasha reached out a hand towards Liechi, unsure if the little thing would let them pet her. The Pidove narrowed her eyes and attempted to bite her. When Sasha didn’t flinch, Liechi begrudgingly let herself be pet.
With a smile, Sasha scratched her head and under her chin. “You’re such a little criminal.”
Liechi cooed, but refused further comment.
With Sasha briefly stopping at the counter, they made their way out onto the busy Castelia streets. The swaths of people had not let up from earlier, but thankfully it wouldn’t be an impossible task to navigate.
“Hold on a moment, please.”
Sasha paused just outside the bakery, slipped the pair of cookies she bought to her other hand, and partially unzipped the backpack, pulling out the old, scuffed up pokeball. She released Acorn onto the sidewalk, who looked up at her and chirped with annoyance.
They pawed at her until she picked them up, where they hopped onto her shoulders in their rightful place.
“Yes yes, I know, my apologies, but it was much too busy for you.” she said, scratching behind their ear. Sweet little thing, couldn’t handle trains, yet still complained about it. Because of course they did.
Marvin made a cooing noise when Acorn was unleashed into the world. He hadn’t realized he was doing so until halfway through, in which he skillfully attempted to hide it under a cough. He shuffled awkwardly in place, not really knowing why he did that. Marvin made a confused expression at his own actions, shrugged, and turned back to Sasha.
“Ready to rock ‘n roll?”
Looking up at him, she started laughing, “What? Is it such a terrible thing to find something cute? Oh how terribly embarrassing, truly.”
Acorn tilted their head, yapping at him. Sasha scratched under their chin, and put the pokeball back in the bag, zipping it up again. He certainly proved himself to be a peculiar soul, if an earnest one.
Marvin averted his gaze to the pavement, a bit embarrassed. He used the tip of his crutch to kick a pebble into the street, “No, no, I.. Don’t know why I did that..?”
“Oh, well, alright.” Her smile fell a bit, unsure of what to say, “It isn’t bad, though.”
“I know, I know, just… Pretend it didn’t happen, yeah?”
Her brows furrowed slightly as she looked at him, fiddling with the back strap, but if that’s what he wanted. “..Alright then. Uh- let’s get going, shall we?”
Marvin nodded, “Really, it was nothing. But yeah, let’s rock ‘n roll for real this time.”
She laughed, “Yeah, let’s.”
The two joined the hustle and bustle of the city streets, merging into the crowd. Their actual destination wasn’t far from the bakery, so it didn’t take long for them to arrive at the Castelia City Public Library.
The building was an impressive relic from the earlier days of Castelia. Its impressive brickwork and columned entrance stuck out between the towering glass skyscrapers native to the city. The interior was no less beautiful with well preserved wooden flooring, arched ceilings, and two stories filled with shelves upon shelves of books. There were computers and quiet study areas available to the public and quite a few were occupied.
Sasha had walked ahead of him, and stopped to glance back, “This is one of my favourite places in this city. It always has a charm to it.”
“It really is something, huh? When I was in college I used to come here all the time to study. It’s the best.”
Marvin turned towards Sasha and grinned, “Wanna grab a spot we can meet back at after we’re done ransacking the shelves?”
“Certainly! I believe I’ll mostly be at the computers, though, so it won’t exactly be hard to find me again hahah.”
Marvin nodded, “I’m gonna go find that book you recommended and maybe try and scope some other ones out. I’ll catch you soon!”
Setting her backpack down at a table in front of one of the library computers, she waved him off. “I believe it’s in the classics section!”
“Thanks!” Marvin called back, beginning to walk towards the shelves. That earned him a stern look from the librarian which he immediately apologized for. He quickly scuttled off into the stacks.
Sasha watched him disappear into the aisles, before sighing and turning to the computer. Acorn hopped off her shoulders and curled up on the tabletop, wide tail flicking idly. Right. Time to get to business. After opening to the right page, she pulled her laptop and the printed out papers from her backpack, and began the search.
Meanwhile in the classic’s section, Marvin was trying not to sneeze. He’d been reprimanded once already and it wouldn’t happen again if he could help it. Unfortunately the universe was plotting against him and deigned that the shelves hadn’t received a good dusting in a while. What was that one saying? If you sneeze with your mouth closed your eyes would pop out of your head? He vaguely recalled his Mother saying that to him once as a child and it freaked him out enough that he never tested the theory. It was at times like these that Marvin debated whether testing these kinds of hypotheses was worth the potential fallout.
He decided to play it safe and sneezed as quietly as he could into his arm. Liechi gave him a weird look from where she had perched on his shoulder. Marvin rolled his eyes. Getting judged by a pigeon who regularly committed larceny. Go figure.
Eventually Marvin found what he was looking for and exited the classics section with his find. Sasha had recommended that he read Twin Spirals by S. G. Dewott, an adaptation of the classic dragon mythos. It was a sturdily bound book with a simple design on the cover. A spiral, embossed in gold on black leather, with the title and credit displayed much the same. Marvin placed the volume into the book bag he brought (he learned the hard way that trying to carry books and use his crutches at the same time was incredibly inconvenient) and took a moment to decide where to go next.
It really didn’t take much deliberation on his end. He was a sucker for shitty romance novels, and he hadn’t gotten many chances to peruse the genre much since arriving. But there was no time like the present. Liechi, thankfully, did not offer any further judgment as he turned towards the romance section of the shelves.
When Marvin returned to where Sasha was seated, his bag hung heavily on his shoulder. He’d made out like a bandit. He’d found some books with absolutely abysmal abstracts and he was so excited to dive in. But he’d have to let the anticipation simmer for a bit, he wanted to read Twin Spirals first.
Marvin plopped down in the chair next to Sasha. Liechi fluttered off of his shoulder and onto the desk, hopping over to Acorn. Marvin kept an eye on her and propped his head up on his arm.
“So, how goes it? You look pretty focused. You good there?”
She was sat leaning towards the screen, a thumbnail in her mouth while she was scrolling the archive page. Twenty-eleven.. Twenty-twelve.. There.
When Marvin spoke she startled like broken from a trance “Oh, hello! Uh, yeah, it’s alright, just uh, occupied thoughts.” It looked like she hadn’t even noticed him sit down.
Marvin raised an eyebrow, but didn’t comment. He knew how tunnel visioned he could get when he was looking for something, so it didn’t raise any alarms. He shrugged.
“Hey, fair enough. What are you lookin’ for anyhow? Anything good?”
Humming slightly, she glanced back at the screen, a dozen headlines from the Castelia Beacon issue archive. “..Simply looking for something I might’ve missed. Uhm, I’m not entirely sure how terribly entertaining it would be to you, though.” She cracked a smile.
Marvin smiled, “Dude, I’m all ears. Hit me. I’m curious to know what’s got you so wrapped up.”
She shrugged, scrolling away from where she was looking with her other hand. “It’s really not too very interesting, not really, but, uhm-” He didn’t need to know. “-There are some rather funny headlines in here, it’s quite a shame they’re not on the website.”
Ok, well, that was vague. Marvin pursed his lips. She was clearly invested in whatever she was doing, so he doubted that whatever she was spending so much time looking for was uninteresting. But it was clear that whatever she was tiptoeing around wasn’t something she wanted to discuss further. So he nodded, and didn’t press her further. But he did take a cursory glance at the papers strewn about beside her. They were printed out articles with headlines describing criminal activity and police records between the years 2012 and 2015. He wasn’t able to make out anything more than that.
Marvin quietly glanced at Sasha, a pit forming in his stomach. He couldn’t draw any obvious conclusions here, but something definitely felt.. Off. But whatever she was looking for, it wasn’t his business to pry. Marvin shifted nervously in his seat, turning his gaze away from Sasha and instead to Acorn and Liechi.
Acorn perked up when Liechi approached, eyes narrowed in suspicion. The Pidove slowly hopped in a circle around the Leafeon, her head tilting this way and that. It almost looked like she was sizing Acorn up. Which wouldn’t be out of character for her. They sniffed at her, tilting their head in the way they did to focus their good ear on her. They seemed distrusting.
Rightfully so, as Liechi took the first opportunity she got to nip lightly at Acorn’s tail.
They snapped back at her with a yap, but Liechi quickly fluttered out of reach. A successful hit and run. Another win for Queen Liechi.
The leafeon hissed at her, ears flicked back. Liechi tittered, a wing held to her beak as if she were laughing. She certainly had a flair for the dramatics. Acorn stood up, fur bristling in annoyance, and swatted at the Pidove with their paw. But Liechi once again out maneuvered Acorn, staying just out of reach.
Oh dear. Their tail lashed from side to side, and Liechi was not immune. Liechi darted back, nipping again at Acorn’s tail. They jumped back with a yelp. When their ears flicked back at her and they started charging what was clearly razor leaf, was when Sasha jumped in.
“No no no no! We are not doing this today!” She grabbed Acorn and pulled them back towards her.
Marvin had been keeping an eye on the pair as well. As soon as Liechi started causing too much trouble, he swooped in and scooped the Pidove up into his arms.
“Liechi!” He scolded, “What is your damage? Come on, man, we’ve been over this!”
Liechi made a warbling noise, almost as if she was grumbling to herself. Marvin immediately took note and let out an admonished gasp, “Do not talk back to me, young lady! Apologize to Acorn right this instant!”
Marvin held Liechi firmly out towards Acorn, “Well?”
Liechi, clearly not regretting a single thing she’s ever done in her life, peeped at Acorn.
Marvin nodded, taking that as an acceptable apology for her crimes. It wasn’t, of course, but Marvin didn’t speak Pidove, and thus was none the wiser.
Acorn looked back at the Pidove from where they were snuggled against Sasha’s shirt, narrowed their eyes at her, and huffed. Sasha ran her hand through their fur, holding them close with the steady one. Her eyes were apologetic when she met Marvin’s.
“Apologies, they’ve been a bit high strung today, I don’t think they quite enjoyed being cooped up all morning.”
Marvin shook his head, “No, no, don’t apologize. Someone here was the obvious instigator and should know better than that,” Marvin looked down sternly at Liechi, who was not listening whatsoever.
It got a bit of a laugh out of her, “I don’t think she’s listening to you.”
“She never listens,” Marvin sighed, “Only time she pays attention to what I say is if I have a treat to give her or if we’re going on a walk. Sometimes I wonder who’s training who.”
Sasha giggled, “It’s always like that, isn’t it?” Looking down at Acorn, she scratched behind their ear. “Isn’t that right, you sweet little menace?”
When the little thing murred and buried their face back in her shirt, she took to a bit more seriousness. “Of course, though, they certainly don’t enjoy being nipped in the tail of all places. I can understand why they got so upset about it.”
Acorn swept their tail around themself, it would be difficult to ignore the tear in it.
Marvin frowned, “Oh, poor thing. I don’t blame them at all.”
“I’m sorry Liechi is such a bully,” He said, towards Acorn this time.
Their head was tipped back, almost upside down, to look at him, it was rather adorable. Acorn chirped in response, but whether or not they understood the words was anyone’s guess, though they hopefully got the sentiment.
Marvin smiled softly at the Leafeon and leaned back in his chair. He held Liechi close to his chest again so that she wouldn’t cause any more trouble. Pidove prison.
Taking to idly stroking their fur, Sasha sat up straight again, glancing at him. Maybe it was about time to change the conversation. “So, uh, I presume you found the book I recommended?”
Marvin perked up, “I did! It wasn’t hard to find, so I wasn’t in the classics for that long, thankfully. It was dusty as all hell in there- The book is pretty big, I wasn’t expecting that. It’s definitely exciting though!”
“It’s certainly a lengthy title, but it’s an enrapturing one. I own a copy, and I’ve reread it quite a few times.”
“Damn, must be pretty good then!”
Nodding, she smiled. Thank goodness. “It’s a rather unique take on the story, goodness I would say more if I didn’t wish to not spoil it for you. I hope you’ll enjoy it.”
She fidgeted with Acorn’s collar, but cracked a laugh after a moment. “This is not exactly related, but I remembered, and I have to ask- What in the world were you doing the other day?”
Marvin’s expression immediately soured, “Ok, look, I was bored, alright?”
“And that landed you in the sewers, quite how exactly?”
“I made a joke about it and decided to go through with it. And then I got attacked by a Rat King. Shit happens.”
Her eyes went wide. “Pardon, a what?”
Marvin stiffened and began to backtrack, “Uh, a Rattata King. Sorry, uh.. It’s.. Ok, it’s when a bunch of Rattata get their tails all tangled together? But this one was.. I didn’t get too good of a look but it kinda was more of a mass of them moving as one.”
He frowned, “I don’t know. It came at me and the next thing I knew I was in Relic Passage. Maybe I was seeing shit. Sewer fumes.”
She’d stopped petting Acorn and covered her mouth with her hand. “That sounds.. Incredibly horrifying. Goodness, I’m glad you’re alright at the very least.”
Marvin shrugged, “Eh. I’ve had worse.”
“..That doesn’t exactly reassure me, in any meaningful way.” She glanced down at Acorn as if the little thing could understand the mixed emotions in her mind, then back at him. “You are quite the character, Marvin Bird.”
A wry smile crossed his face, “Oh, you have no idea.”
She gave a bemused laugh, not quite sure what else to say. “You know, you have quite the spirit, you could probably do quite well somewhere if you wished to.”
A hand came up to attempt to hide her snicker, success of which was debatable, “And it may be a better use of all that energy than running into sewers or eating house plants.”
He rolled his eyes, “Never again.”
“I would hope,” she said, amusement in her voice. “Have you considered going back to college at any point? I can presumably guess why you haven’t, but regardless.”
Marvin slumped in his chair and groaned, “Oh god, I don’t know! I’ve been debating it but I’m not even sure what I’d go for! I was already iffy about my major..”
“Well, what is it that you enjoy, in terms of topics?”
He shrugged helplessly, “I don’t know! I don’t really do much…?”
Humming lightly, she rested her arm on the table. “Surely there’s something. Is there anything in particular you’re passionate about? Enjoy learning? Anything of that sort?”
He thought for a moment, a finger tapping against his chin. After a moment he deflated, “I… I got nothing.”
A pang of sympathy pulled on her chest, she hummed again, chewing on her lip. There had to be something that could be done.
With a snap of her fingers, she spoke up again, “You know, I’m not exactly an export, I never went to college, I simply didn’t have the time. But. my cousin- do you remember Caleb?- works at the university in Nimbasa, they know a lot more about this than I do. Maybe they could be of help.”
“You think? I mean- I wouldn’t be opposed for academia round two.”
“Of course! They’d probably be glad to help.” Leaning forward, she took out a piece of scrap paper and quickly jotted down their contact, sliding it over to him. “If you’d want to, here’s their number.”
Marvin took it from her with a smile, “Yeah, I’ll give them a ring at some point!”
“Wonderful!”  Hopefully it would prove useful to him.
Before he pocketed it, he had to rescue the slip of paper from Liechi as she seemed intent on claiming it as a new toy. Thankfully he was able to save it from being shredded.
Sasha giggled watching him wrangle with the small dear attempting to steal the paper like so many other things, but something pulled away her attention. Her phone was ringing.
Well, what a coincidence. “Hold on a moment, please, it’s Caleb.”
Marvin gave her a thumbs up and sat back in his chair. He occupied himself with patting Liechi, who cooed softly at the attention.
“Did you find anything?”
Turning back to the computer, Sasha scrolled back to where she’d been reading prior, and quickly snapped a picture of it. “I certainly did.”
Her voice had dropped to a very different, more serious sort of tone. Whatever else was said on the other end was lost, but after a bit more discussion, she hung up and began gathering her things. Alright.
Acorn didn’t seem too pleased when they were roused to get up, but let out a long yawn and clambered to lay around her neck regardless.
She turned to him, apologetic, “My apologies, I have to go, It was lovely seeing you again, though! I hope we can meet up again soon.”
Marvin blinked, a little startled at the sudden change in her demeanor. He frowned, “Is.. Is everything alright?”
Slipping on her bag with one hand, she raised the other in reassurance, “Yeah, it’s alright, we simply have something that needs attending to.”
He pursed his lips but didn’t press her further, “Oh, alright. It was good to see you too, I’ll tell you how I think about the book when I’m finished, yeah?”
“That would be lovely, I hope you enjoy it!” She gave a quick smile. It seemed genuinely cheery enough. “I’ll see you later, yeah?”
“Yeah, I’ll see you later..”
Turning to leave, she doubled back and shut off the computer, but before she did, Marvin was able to catch a short glimpse of the article. Before the screen turned black, his eyes caught on one sentence in particular.
“-despite efforts by authorities, no further information could be gained from Sasha Ellis’ questionings.”
But as if in a blink, she was out of sight and out the door, a certain hurried pace in her step. And he was left alone at the table. Stunned and more than confused, Marvin sat staring at the empty computer screen, suddenly left with more questions than answers.
What the hell was that all about..?
He exchanged a look with Liechi who didn’t understand a goddamned thing, but wanted to be included anyway. He sighed and patted his shoulder and Liechi fluttered up to perch there. He gathered his belongings and made his way out of the library.
The whole walk home his mind was turning over the interactions he’d had with Sasha. The intense focus on what she was researching, the avoidance when he questioned her, the phone call, that article… What was going on with her? He chewed his lip. Whatever it was, the police had been involved at some point.
He just hoped she wasn’t the one they were looking for.
