prompt:
reader getting injured because she slipped in the shower, sukuna has to help her get to the hospital, where reader gets some pain meds making her kinda high. she confesses to him while being high
content: fluff, crack. reader is in the hospital and blood is named but thereâs no gore. yuuji and sukuna are siblings. i love sukuna and i need him in my life so bad⊠someone PLS be my sukuna
âSo, just to be sure: one margherita for me and one with sausage for you?â Asks you Yuuji while putting on his shoes.
âYup,â you answer, popping the p. âCan I just have a quick shower while youâre gone?â
âUhhh, sure, let me go ask Sukuna,â your friend tells you smiling and rushing up the stairs of his home.
You and Yuuji have been best friends since forever. You remember the first time you both cried your eyes out at the park in kindergarten because a lizard had just eaten the ladybug you had been watching for half an hour. Since that moment youâve been attached at the hip, your homework filled afternoons in high school turning to pizza nights when both of your work schedules allowed you to now.
âBig bro said sure,â comes Yuujiâs voice from the end of the staircase.
âI did in fact not say that,â growls Sukuna from behind him. Sukuna is the same age as you and Yuuji, but he always seemed older. Sometimes wiser, but sure as hell more annoying than his brother. Hotter, too, but thatâs a topic for another time.
âI didnât ask you to join me, big boy,â you say sarcastically, fake smiling. He crosses his arms, leveling you with a bored look.
âYuu, if you arenât fast enough youâre not going to find her corpse when you get back,â he tells his brother, still staring you up and down. Yuuji sighs, tired, then opens the front door.
âMake sure to not kill each other. I have a shift after this, stop bickering. You two act like siblings more than I do with you, Sukuna,â he reprimands you both. You and his brother roll your eyes at the same time, then you push him out, closing the door in his face. You turn around and find yourself face to face with Sukuna's menacing grin.
âYou have 5 minutes before I come knock at the bathroom door with a kitchen knife, doll.â
Youâre scrubbing yourself clean with a random pine body wash you found in the shower when the playlist you put before entering the stall stops. Youâre annoyed, because now youâre forced to listen to Sukunaâs ugly songs from the bathroom wall (that heâs blasting just to annoy you), so you try to reach your phone. Youâre on your tippy toes, not wanting to get out completely, when you trip and fall since you didnât wash the soap away from your body. You bump your head on the sink in front of the shower, hard, and you muffle a whine. You close your eyes as hard as you can and open the shower head with the room spinning inside your skull.
âDonât open your eyes, donât open your eyes or youâll fall⊠fuck, it hurts so bad,â you tell yourself while you speed run the end of the shower and blindly put your shirt over your head. Itâs not the first time you've bumped your head on something, you were a crazy kid, so youâve learned to open your eyes only when you physically canât function anymore or you'll start seeing stars immediately. You barely get to put your pants on when you notice your forehead feels wet, and you didn't even wash your hair. As you get out of the bathroom wobbling you touch your head. When you open your eyes, you see blood on your hand. The room spins. You barely have time to look up and watch Sukuna coming out of his bedroom frowning before seeing black dots in your vision.
You try opening your eyes, but they feel so heavy. Your body feels rather stiff. What's this smell?
"Oh, she's waking up," a female voice softly says from somewhere next to your right.
"Thank you, miss, I got it from here," a rough voice responds.
"Make sure she drinks a lot, and keep a couple of painkillers near you. The scans show she doesn't have any internal damage, but she hit her head pretty hard. She's going to have a big bruise for a couple of days," the female voice continues. You hear the man making a sound of affirmation.
Thereâs a brief pause. "Your wife is very lucky. It's not every day that a man takes a woman up four flights of stairs by simple arm strength," the woman concludes sweetly, getting out of the room after he responds with a grunt and closing the door behind her.
"Your ass is lucky I lied or they wouldnât have let me in, dumbass. Open your eyes, I know you're awake," the voice you now recognise as Sukuna says, getting closer. You try opening your eyes, managing to focus your gaze on him. Everything feels so fluffy, apart from your throat. You cough, and you think you see him rolling his eyes before getting you a glass of water and sitting beside you on a chair. You gulp it down, still feeling fuzzy, then you blink a couple of times.
You gape at him. He's cute. âYou look funny,â you say, poking his cheek. Heâs so squishy. Like a little mochi. A little mochi filled with strawberries. Strawberries and cream. He slaps your finger away, and you put on a hurt expression. He huffs.
âWhy am I here?â You ask. The more you look at him, the more heads he seems to have.
âYou fell in the bathroom,â he says, straightening up from the chair and covering your right leg with the duvet the hospital gave you. You raise an eyebrow at his gesture, and he just rolls his eyes again. âDonât want you to also catch a cold. Yuuji would kill my ass.â You just hum.
âI caught ya when you already fainted. Yuuji came back home and panicked, but he couldnât back out from work, so I was stuck with your ass. Took ya here but the elevator broke down. And I ate your pizza, by the way. All this is gonna cost ya 200 dollars, cash,â he lists, sprawling back onto his chair, deadpan.
Silence engulfs the both of you, and you donât know what to say. You heard what the nurse said and you are searching for a way to bring it up, but the words in your mind are all scrambled. Itâs probably the morphine that you realise they gave you, IV still attached to your left arm. You open your mouth to say something along the lines of âIâd like to thank your gym membership for this,â but instead the words that leave your mouth are-
âIâd like you to be my husband.â
His eyes snap to your widening ones. âWait that wasnât what-â
âHuh?â He just replies, dumbfounded. You panic, waving your hands in the air between you two.
âNo, what I meant was- like- thank you for getting me up here- can you stop looking at me with your weird 16 eyes?- not that you arenât attractive! Youâre super hot! But thatâs not- oh god,â you whimper, rubbing your face, noticing how youâre just making the situation worse. You prepare yourself for his snarky comeback, closing your eyes, but everything is silent.
Suddenly, you hear him snort. You crack your eyes open, touching the big cotton gauze they put on your forehead. You must be hearing things. Itâs definitely the morphine, thereâs no way Sukuna is actually laughing.
âYes, Iâm laughing, doll,â he says, chuckling. You widen your eyes.
âI said that out loud, didnât I?â You cringe.
âYeah, you kinda did,â he responds, smirking. You groan.
âTake me out to dinner first, damn,â he yawns. You jut your bottom lip out, frowning and giving him your middle finger. Then you register his words.
âYouâd come? I mean, if I asked you out.â
âWell, if youâre paying,â he responds, shrugging. Thatâs still a yes, isnât it?
He ruffles up his pink hair, black t-shirt straining across his bicep. You canât contain the urge to poke the muscle.
âStop touching me like Iâm made of play dough, doll,â he sighs, slightly less annoyed than 5 minutes ago.
âWould you let me play with you if you were made of play dough?â you ask, words a little slurred, still poking his arm, and he flexes it. âDonât show off,â you mumble.
âYouâre even weirder when youâre drugged,â he grins. He kinda looks scary, though. If you didnât know him, youâd piss yourself by looking at his sharp teeth.
âBut would you or would you not?â You whine, dragging out the last word, letting your hand fall next to you. He misses the warmth of your hand, so instead, he just puts his on your thigh. To be warm, of course. The room is so cold. Yeah. Definitely because of the missing heat.
âYeah doll, I would.â

pairing: lando norris x fem!reader
word count: 2k+
summary: your relationship with lando through the teenage years
warnings: pda, established relationship, mostly fluff, some angst | i know lando moved to glastonbury later in his life but đ€« i also wrote this in 2 hours instead of doing because i got excited and had an idea
You and Lando had first met when you were teenagers. Him being a lanky teenage boy with puffy cheeks and curly hair, and you being a young girl with frizzy hair and a youthful look in your eyes. It wasnât a surprise to anyone when you first started dating, itâs like you both were on the same wavelength.
You still remember the day you met him ââ how could you not? You two went to the same school so you knew who each other was, and you had heard of him from people around the town talking about his karting career. Your parents were family friends with the Norrisâs, and they never failed to talk about how proud they were of their children.
It was the start of school after the 2013 summer break. You had quite a small friend group in school so when you had classes with no one you were friends with, you tended to be quiet and focus on your school work. That resulted in you being forced to sit next to the rowdy kids. Why? You didnât know. Itâs not like it changed them, and it just bothered you. It was one of those times, and it was Lando who was put next to you. Him and his friend group tended to be the disruptive bunch. They werenât bad people or bad at school, just got a little too loud at times and forgot to pay attention.
You were sat in the middle row of your math class. The seat next to you was empty at the start of class, but at the end it wasnât. Lando and his friends got a little too loud and he was âpunishedâ by being put next to you so he couldnât talk with his friends. You looked at him when he made his way over, but that was it. He was cute ââ you could admit it. And it didnât hurt that someone cute was being put next to you, but you shook your feelings off and forced yourself to focus. At them end of class when you were grabbing your things, a hand poked your shoulder. You turned around and came face-to-face with the Norris boy. He looked a little nervous, fidgety and a small smile on his face. You tilted your head. âHey ââ I uh ââ didnât have enough time to finish some of the notes. Do you mind if I borrow some of yours?â
You were a little surprised, you didnât think he cared that much about school. Most kids wouldnât bother getting down a little bit you missed ââ not even you ââ but he did. You smiled and nodded. âSure,â you told him as you grabbed the paper out of your binder and gave it to him, âjust return it once youâre done?â He nodded. The next day in class, he walked over to you and gave the paper pack, and you figured he would go back to his friends because the seat want permanent, but he didnât. He put his bag on the ground and sat in the seat next to you. He did that, every day, for the rest of the year.
You two got to know each other well. You learned more about his competitive karting career and his family, while you told him about your family and friends. Nothing ever happened between you two, you were just friends. You had a crush on him, but you convinced yourself it was your mind tricking you because it was your first friend that was a boy. He thought the same, but he didnât not believe his, he just didnât act on it.
It was summer break, a year after you met him, when you realized you did like him. You were chatting with your grandma at her house as you were helping her sting stuff around the house. She had asked about your school semesters and how it was. You rambled on and on, not realizing that you mostly takes about Lando. It wasnât until you were putting one of the last boxes down for her that it finally hit. âYou must really like that boy, no?â You looked at her weird. âAll you did was talk about him. You must like him.â It was when she said that that you had a moment of realization. After you finished helping her you went home to your mom and talked to her, confused on how to deal with this newfound information. She just laughed and gave you a hug, telling you that almost every teenage girl goes through this with someone in their life. That made you feel a bit better.
Your friendship turned into something more a couple weeks after that. The Norris family had invited your family to come watch one of Landoâs races at Buckmore Park. Your parents agreed as they wanted to catch up . . . You agreed because you wanted to see Lando. He did well, coming 5th place. You could tell he wasnât happy about, but you were. You and your family met up with him at the end of the race. He wasnât looking too happy, but when he saw you his face lit up. When you congratulated him he blushed. Your families talked for a bit ââ mostly about how summer break was going ââ and you were about to leave when Lando called out your name.
Your family continued to leave, saying they would meet up with you at the car with your mom winking at you. You blushed. At first there was some awkward silence, and then he asked âwould you like to go on a date?â You were a bit shocked, not expecting it, and you were nervous. What did people do on dates anyway? You know adults went out to eat and drink but you were fifteen! You completely forgot that you had to answer his question, and he started sputtering out words saying that you didnât have to, and he was sorry before you interrupted him with a âyes.â It was his turn to look surprise.
You went on a date the next week, both of you unknowingly doing the same thing and panicking to your parents beforehand. It went fine, a bit awkward ââ obviously ââ but you thought it was cute. You went out for icecream and walked around Bristol. Halfway through the date he slipped his hand into yours, and you accepted it, but didnât dare to look him in the eye.
After that, you two were inseparable. You two were always together, and practically lived at each others houses. Sometimes ââ for weeks on end ââ your parents never saw you a lot because you were always at Landoâs house. His parents always updated yours on how you were, and they trusted you. During an interview for Drive to Survive, your parents swore during those times they only saw you in the morning and night, the rest of the time you were with Lando. This would switch between you staying at his and him staying at yours.
Though Lando wouldnât admit it when he was a teenager, he would do anything for you. If you asked him to jump off a bridge, he wouldnât even ask why, heâs just do it. There are so many pictures on your phone and Polaroids of him in âembarrassingâ situations ââ like one where he had a face mask on and his nails painted. You keep that one in the back of your phone case. He would let you braid his hair, practice makeup on him, help him with his skincare, and so many other things. This would always be in the secrecy of your room and when your families werenât there because he dreaded the day his family saw him like that.
He had no idea that you had shown his sisters and parents almost every single one. They promised to keep it quiet, and they did. You also know they wonât tell him that they have some of those pictures on their phones. Itâs a secret between you and them, a need to know thing.
Whenever you had sleepovers at his house, you would stay with his sisters because you werenât allowed to be with him ââ for good reason ââ and because you loved his sisters. As you got older, you bonded more with them, helping them out with boy problems and girl problems, because everyone had those girls in high school who made your life a living hell. You broke down crying when you found out they were moving to Glastonbury. How would you survive without not being able to hug your boyfriend? How would you cope without the gossip sessions with his sisters? The talks about your life over helping Cisca with dinner and talking politics with Adam? Laughing at embarrassing moments of Lando with his brother?
Before that, you had put off getting your license. You walked or took buses to most places, and it saved you money. When you found out they were moving though, you made it your lifeâs mission it get your license and a car. You were on moving day, helping the family with setting things up and cleaning up the place. You still remember the dinner you had that night. It wasnât fancy, just Chinese takeout on a table in the half put together living room, but it was one of the moments where you truly felt like family. It wasnât that you hadnât before, but it was the private ness of the situation that really hit your heart. You begged to stay over, not caring that it was a school night, but you couldnât. You hugged everyone goodbye with teary eyes, kissing Lando, and promising to be back soon.
And you were. When you had that car, you spent an unbelievable amount of money on gas. You drove to his house almost every weekend. Sometimes he would come over to your house, but it was mostly you going over there out of convenience. If Lando wanted to go to yours, heâd probably have to pile all of his siblings in the car, while you didnât have to do that. Besides driving to Glastonbury, your car was also used as a pick me up. Whenever something happened with his sisters, youâd be there in a heartbeat, telling them to get in ââ telling Lando he canât come with him grumbling something under his breath ââ and youâd go and grab food. Whatever they needed, you were there ready to do it? Boy problems? Junk food and a sad playlist. School problems? Listening to them vent and giving them advice. Period problems? That depended on that they wanted. You even remember one time on March break Flo had an experience with a boy and you took her to a rage room . . . It was so fun, and you definitely did it again with Cisca.
While you were there for all the important events in Landoâs life, he was the same. He was there when your grandma died, and you swore he was one of the few things that kept you together. He was there when you graduated high school and got accepted into your dream school.
Your relationship stayed the same throughout his whole career, you to where you both were now, living in Monaco. You still acted like teenagers, jokingly fighting over little things and teasing each other. Your love baver wavered, it stayed the same for each other, maybe even became stronger. There were periods in your relationship like when he first started in Formula One and you moved to college that it was tricky, but you go through it. You always would.
As you sat on the sofa in your home and twirled the ring on your finger, you remembered the whole of your relationship and the future of it. You were broken out of your trance by a kiss on your head. You hummed, not turning to look at him. âSheâs gone to bed. Sheâs been changed and given her bottle. You smiled and looked up at him, âthank you.â He kissed you on your lips, âof course. You ready to go to bed, Mrs. Norris?â You chuckled and got up, walking around to the couch to meet him in his arms.
âAlways, Mr. Norris, always.â

âł DRESS TO IMPRESS? â
đŒynopsis. in which you convince your boyfriend to play dress to impress with you, will they slay the runway? đčairing. enha!member x female!reader đ°enre. fluff, crack, trendy. đarnings. curse words, not proofread, riki is that annoying player and almost all the members are bad at this game ă
ă
, english is not my 1st language. đđŹ. 1k+ đ¶asterlist.
⥠đȘmelie's đ·ote: oh gosh i had so much fun writing this, especially because i am addicted to this game lol anyway, do you guys have any headcanon request? i am curious...
â đ±eeseung: gets upset but doesn't quit playing.
you might be wondering why heeseung changed his mood like that, and that's because placing on the podium in dress to impress is hard â for him. in the beginning, and sometimes unfair. when you told him you wanted to play with him â your boyfriend was feeling very happy and giddy, creating his account the same second, not knowing how he would feel a few rounds later...
"BRO?! HOW DID SHE PLACED?!" he screamed after standing up from bed while his hands rested against his head, indignant. "LOOK AT ME, I LOOK MUCH PRETTIER!" and heeseung turned his ipad screen at you after laying back on his stomach on bed. "hee, baby... your skin is literally blue, that's not what coquette means..." you replied. "nonsense, even my fit is better! and you placed second you can't say shit! i am not playing this game anymore." he argued, throwing his ipad away from him. "don't quit, continue playing with me," you pouted, waiting for a new round to start. "i'm sorry, baby, but this game is absolutely dog shi- a new round has begun?" when the sound of a new round starting echoed, his mind seemed to have changed. "... yeah?" "okay, maybe one more round won't hurt..."
â đłongseong: gets into arguments with 8 year olds.
jongseong is a good, caring, handsome and mature boyfriend, however, immatureness possesses him when playing dress to impress. just to clear things up you had asked him to play the game with you before, so nothing was new to him â neither to you: hearing him raging about a girl talking shit about his fashion sense. i can't forget to mention that he takes this game very serious â especially when his girlfriend has an awesome ranking.
"look at me, i look so good," "yeah... you do..." you couldn't ignore how terribly your boyfriend's makeup was done. "give me five stars, okay?" "'kay..." "baby, if this girl tells me i look terrible one more time i'll do something really bad." "babe-" " 'you look ugly'...?" he read the chat. open his microphone: "SHUT UP, YOUR FIT LOOKS LIKE A TRASH BAG AND A PIECE OF SHIT JUST HAD A BABY," "JAY! she's a kid!" "and i am eating with this outfit- tha-that's how you guys say right? eat and all...?" "yes, you ate that outfit up babe."
â đłaeyun: you have to be patient.
don't get me wrong, jaeyun is good at games, however, not in this one specifically. it took him about two days just to learn how to walk on roblox's games and how to jump, etc. imagine when you introduced this fashion game which you have time to dress yourself up, oh boy, he was confused. if learning the basics from controlling your avatar on roblox took him days, it took jaeyun a week to understand how to put on items, take them off, where you choose your hair and face... well, it was a pain, but he was able to get through it and play it almost normally.
"babe, why you're skin is grey?" "i didn't know where to change it," shrugs then tries to pose. "oh my god, babe, i showed you where a minute ago!" "okay, chill...! where do i pose though?" "oh my god, jaeyun..."
â đŒunghoon: has lots of difficulties but doesn't give up.
sunghoon is like a mix of heeseung and jake, which means he gets addicted, angry but can't stop playing and still has to be handled with patience and love. with that being said, be prepared to hear a bunch of questions and him leaving and then joining your server a few many times. also! can't forget that sunghoon is still a english learner, so the themes might be misunderstood by him sometimes heh... (á”âáŽâ)
"y/n~" he whines. "i'm done with this game!" leaves "babe, the theme was baggy and you literally dresses up as a trash bag..." "baggy means... bag? what did i do wrong?" "baggy is a style, not a trash bag," "should've told me earlier, y/n!" "hoonie-" "now everyone on the server thinks i am stupid! let's change server, join me now."
â đŒunoo: is the one who places first.
sunoo is undeniably the best dressed on the game among the members, usually winning against you. he has almost all the poses, knows how to layer and is always creative, even reaching top model before you.
"baby, can we play dress to impress together? i'm so close to reach top model." "yeah, su- WAIT! TOP MODEL?!" â ooohhh, i might have forgotten to mention... sunoo plays dress to impress without you sometimes. "baby, just join me 'kay?" "sunshine, explain me how'd you reach top model before me? i play more than you do," "uh... i surely play more than you do, but okay," "wait, wha-" "babyyyy just join my server, i want you to celebrate this with me, alright?" "okay..." your heart softened when you realised he wanted you to be part of his reaching. "can we duo?" you asked. "we can, but just once; i would much rather vote you five (5) stars."
â đłungwon: jungwon.exe stopped working.
jungwon is like jake and oh gosh why i feel like every single one of them is a bit like him?!?! anyway, jungwon would be more than happy to join you, but has already told you that his skills might not really show up in this dressing game â discreetly admitting that he doesn't know how to play it. he actually heard about the game because the other members seem to enjoy it. still, it's just not his cup of tea. however, since you were so excited about him playing with you, sigh, he might make this sacrifice â in which he slowly gets very excited as well.
"wonnie, baby, why are you posing? you have to dress up before the times is up!" you warned him after spotting him on the game. "huh? it doesn't make sense, we have to dress up? where?" "there, baby," you gently took the ipad out of his hands and guided him to the changing booth. "oh... but is too far away from my spawn and why do i walk slower than that girl?" "because she bought a walk faster pack, now dress up wonnie, hurry up...!" "i want to buy that, how do i buy her pack?" "jungwon, dress up now, you have literally one minute." you spoke between your teeth. "okay, okay... y/n, where do i get the items though?" "jungwon..."
â đ»iki: it's that annoying giggly kid who doesn't follow the theme.
if you ever played dress to impress you probably came across to one of those annoying players who never follows the theme, with that, you might refuse to believe riki is this type of player; but trust me, he surely is. and why? because he doesn't take the game that seriously, doing whatever he wants and trolling people â making them believe he's gonna gift them vip or one of the other packs.
"RIKI? HOW'D YOU PLACED FIRST?" "i'm just too good, i guess," your boyfriend shrugged, but you couldn't believe him. "you're lying." "are you saying i am not good at this game?" "..." "y/n," he would call you after suddenly bursting out of laughter. "what?" your annoyed tone of voice echoed and it sounded like his favourite music to his ears. "wanna know how i placed first?" riki looks up at you, hiding just half of his face with his ipad. "mhm..." you hummed, confirming. "i tricked a few girls saying that i would gift them vip if they voted me five (5) stars," he giggled, knowing you were about to get angry at him. "RIKI! you can't do that, imagine if that was me..." you pouted. "oh, yeah? i should've done worse then." "RIKI!" "OKAY! SORRY, enough of riki now, okay? i am baby, not riki..."

I've reached the point where I've run out of fucks to give, and the next person who tells me that my joints wouldn't hurt anymore if I lost weight, I'm just gonna go
"Well, you see, I was born with hip and spinal deformities that get progressively worse over time due to use. Also, when I was 10, I injured my knee so badly that I can confidently say that the end of a human femur feels disconcertingly like the skinny end of a chicken drumstick. Also, this happened at school and I was just sent back to class at the end of recess, despite having a bruise the size of a slice of bread. I ended up betting sent home early (without even being sent to the nurse) and my mom just told me to put ice on it. I didn't see an actual doctor for months, when I had my next annual checkup. She confirmed that my kneecap is now free-floating (aka, no longer attached to anything; it's supposed to be embedded between two layers of ligament) but it is at least still there. But I could push my kneecap to the side and feel the end of my femur because there was hardly any tissue between skin and bone, and I'd let other kids feel it as a party trick. It's too bad I have too much scarring and arthritis there now, or I'd offer to let you find out for yourself. But yeah, I'm sure losing some weight would solve that."
Like gee, maybe the reason I have a hard time exercising is because I can barely move because my entire body is fucked by a combination of congenital issues and childhood medical neglect (I was literally diagnosed with asthma while still in the NICU. They didn't have spacers in my premie size so the nurse showed my mom how to punch a hole in a styrofoam coffee cup to make one to go over my entire face. At some point my parents decided that I no longer needed medication, because they're big believers of "you shouldn't be on meds for the rest of your life", and my breathing got worse and worse for years, until I was diagnosed with asthma again when I was 7.)
Also, I'm pretty sure my mom putting me on a diet from a young age was why I ended up getting fat in my teens, since I started hoarding food.
I work at a daycare with infants.
One of our baby girls is fat, in the 99th percentile for her age. She is super cute and sweet. Lately, she has been sick with various breathing issues, so she has been reluctant to take her bottles. Normally, sheâll take 4 ounces of formula at lunch and 8 ounces in the afternoon. Today, I was lucky to get to her take 5 all day.
There was a substitute covering a lunch break in my classroom today. We emphasized to her that we need to keep trying to get the baby to drink her bottle until she finished it. She said, âWhy are you guys so worried about taking her bottle?â
My coworker replied, âThatâs where all her nutrients are. She needs the nutrients and the water.â
To which the substitute replied, âBut sheâs so fat. She doesnât need it.â
Thin privilege is a small, pretty baby getting better childcare because the caretaker doesnât think sheâs too fat to be allowed to eat.

Logan hadnât had a nightmare like this in a long timeâdark, violent, pulling him back to places he thought heâd managed to bury. He woke up gasping, drenched in cold sweat, fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles had turned white. He barely registered your hands on his shoulders, your soft voice coaxing him back to reality.
"Logan," you whispered, brushing a hand gently through his hair. "Itâs okay. Youâre safe. Iâm here."
As he sat up, breathing ragged, he could feel the old shame tightening in his chest, coiling around his heart like a vise. You didnât deserve this. You didnât deserve to be woken up in the middle of the night to deal with his demons, his scars that never truly healed.
In the dim light, he glanced at you, your concerned eyes, the gentle way you held him as though he were something fragile. Something that needed fixing. And it cut deeper than he expected.
"Go back to sleep," he mumbled, pulling away from your touch, trying to put space between you. "You donât have to⊠just go back to bed."
You watched him, hurt flashing across your face before you masked it with understanding like you always did. But that only made it worse. Logan felt like a burden, an anchor holding you down when you could be with someone lighter, someone whole.
It was selfish, he realized bitterly, for him to have married you. To drag you into his darkness, to let you tether yourself to someone so broken. You could have had happiness with someone who didnât carry the weight of a hundred lifetimes, someone who wouldnât drag you into his nightmares.
The day that followed was unforgiving. The mansion was chaotic with the energy of kids excited for the upcoming weekend, their laughter and chatter echoing through the halls. Normally, Logan found a certain kind of peace in the routine, in the noise and laughter. Heâd steal a moment to find you, just to see the way your eyes lit up when you spotted him across the room, the way youâd smile like he was the best part of your day.
But today, he couldnât bring himself to look for you. Instead, he kept his distance, trying to hold onto the feeling of solitude he hadnât felt in so long. He couldnât shake the gnawing thought that he was ruining your life, that every day you stayed by his side, you were giving up a piece of yourself for someone who didnât deserve it.
Still, avoiding you completely proved impossible. In the late afternoon, he wandered into the library to drop off a book one of the students had left in his class, and there you were, seated at one of the old wooden tables, a notebook open in front of you, scribbling something with that quiet intensity he loved so much.
As if sensing his presence, you looked up and caught his gaze, breaking into a warm smile. "There you are," you said, your voice light, teasing. "I feel like youâve been avoiding me all day."
The words hung in the air, playful but carrying an undertone of uncertainty. When Logan didnât respond, your smile faltered slightly, concern filling your eyes.
"Logan," you started, your tone softening, "whatâs going on?"
Logan let out a long sigh, shoving his hands deep into his pockets, his gaze dropping to the floor. "Sweetheart," he said, his voice gruff, "donât⊠donât try to make me feel better, alright?"
You blinked, taken aback. "Iâm not⊠I donât even know whatâs wrong. Iâm just⊠trying to understand." Your voice wavered, the usual confidence slipping as you searched his face.
He looked down, feeling the weight of his own words pressing on him, but they spilled out anyway, rough and raw. "I donât know why you stay with me. Youâre too good for someone like me."
The hurt in your eyes was immediate and stark, cutting through him like a blade. Usually, you would have brushed off his self-deprecating comments with a witty remark, or maybe a kiss, but this timeâŠthe pain was visible.
"Wow, Logan." Your voice was quiet, almost disbelieving. "I guess if you say it enough, maybe Iâll start to believe it."
He felt his heart clench as he watched you, saw the way you pulled back as if shielding yourself from him. Before he could say anything, youâd gathered up your things and walked out, leaving him alone in the library, the silence heavier than any nightmare.
Later that evening, Logan sat in Xavierâs office, staring at the floor as the Professor studied him with quiet patience. Logan had come here for advice, though he hadnât known how to ask for it. After a few minutes of silence, Xavier spoke.
"She loves you, Logan," Xavier said gently, his voice filled with the kind of understanding that only came with time. "And yet you push her away despite being married for years now. Why?"
Logan swallowed, struggling to put his feelings into words. "She⊠deserves better than me," he muttered. "I drag her into my mess. Sheâs always the one tryinâ to fix me, to hold me together. I donât wanna keep holdinâ her back."
Xavier regarded him thoughtfully, folding his hands. "Perhaps," he said softly, "she doesnât see it as a burden, Logan. Perhaps youâre the one whoâs still carrying that weight." He paused, allowing the words to sink in. "But by constantly questioning her commitment, by doubting her love, youâre hurting her far more than any nightmare ever could."
Loganâs jaw tightened, shame flooding through him as Xavierâs words settled in. Heâd spent so much time convinced he was protecting you by keeping you at armâs length, he hadnât realized he was driving a wedge between you. He was the one putting cracks in your relationship, making you question the very foundation of what youâd built together.
Determined to make it up to you, Logan planned a small, thoughtful evening, something that would remind you of the early days, back when things felt simple and uncomplicated. He knew heâd hurt you, and there was no grand gesture that could fix it. But maybe he could start by showing you what you meant to him.
He set up a cozy picnic under the stars in the mansionâs quiet garden, the same spot where heâd taken you for one of your dates. There were blankets laid out, soft lanterns casting a warm glow, and a small table with your favorite foodâheâd even found the wine youâd both liked that night.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, you finally came outside, your expression wary but softened by curiosity. Loganâs heart thudded in his chest as he stood, waiting, feeling more vulnerable than he ever had on a battlefield.
"Whatâs all this?" you asked quietly, glancing around the setup with a mixture of surprise and hesitation.
Logan rubbed the back of his neck, feeling uncharacteristically nervous. "I⊠wanted to make it up to you. I know Iâve been a real jackass," he admitted, his voice gruff. "Iâve got this⊠damn habit of pushinâ people away. And I know Iâve hurt you by doinâ it. You didnât deserve that."
Your expression softened, and you stepped closer, your eyes searching his face.
"Thereâs a⊠note," he mumbled, pointing to a folded piece of paper on the table. "I wrote it⊠yâknow, in case I couldnât say all of it right."
You picked up the note, unfolding it carefully. His handwriting was rough, scrawled across the page, and the words were raw, unpolished, but every line held the weight of his heart:
"I know I donât say it enough, but youâre the best damn thing that ever happened to me. Youâre my light, my peace, even when I donât think I deserve it. Iâd be lost without you, and it scares the hell outta me sometimes. Iâm sorry for doubting what we have. I love you more than I know how to say, and Iâm the luckiest man in the world to have you by my side."
You looked up at him, tears shimmering in your eyes, but there was a soft, unwavering smile tugging at your lips. "Logan⊠you donât have to do all this to prove anything," you murmured, squeezing his hands. "I know how much you love me. Iâve always known."
Logan gave a half-shrug, but his expression softened as he took a tentative step closer, his thumb brushing gently over your knuckles. "Maybe," he muttered, his voice rough, almost vulnerable. "But Iâm a damn stubborn fool, and I know I donât say it enough. Hell, Iâm lucky you havenât given up on me yet."
You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in close until your foreheads were nearly touching. "Logan," you whispered, your voice steady despite the emotion welling up in your chest. "I knew exactly what I was getting myself into the moment I kissed you that first time. You seem to forget⊠this is a two-sided relationship. I chose this, and I chose youâall of you. The good, the bad, and even the ugly."
A small, wry smile crossed his face as he held you tighter, his hand splaying against the small of your back. "Guess thereâs plenty of that last one," he murmured, his tone filled with self-deprecation.
You shook your head, lifting a hand to cup his cheek, guiding his gaze back to yours. "I donât want some perfect, easy life. This marriage hasnât been easyâno one ever promised it would be." Your voice softened, and a flicker of pain crossed your face as you thought back to the late nights, the nightmares, the moments of doubt. "But I wouldnât trade a single second of it."
Loganâs eyes softened, the weight of your words sinking in as he searched your face. There was a flicker of something vulnerable, almost boyish as if he still couldnât quite believe that someone like you would stay through it all. "Even with all the times Iâve messed up? Pushed you away?"
"Especially then," you replied, your voice barely above a whisper. "I chose you, Logan, knowing every scar you carry. I chose you because youâre worth it. Because beneath all that gruff and growl, thereâs a man with a heart bigger than heâll ever admit."
Loganâs gaze softened, his usual guarded expression melting as he took in the honesty in your eyes. His fingers tightened around yours as if grounding himself in the warmth of your touch.
You swallowed, feeling your throat tighten as you searched for the right words. "Besides, you act like you havenât been there for meâlike Iâm the only one giving in this marriage. But thatâs not true. Youâve carried me, held me up when I couldnât stand on my own." A tear slipped down your cheek, and you felt a tremble in your voice as you continued, more vulnerable than youâd ever allowed yourself to be. "I guess⊠I guess I need to tell you much you mean to me more, because if I ever lost youâ"
Your voice broke, the unspoken thought hanging in the air between you. Loganâs hand moved to your face, his thumb gently wiping away the tear that had escaped. He looked at you with a raw intensity, like he was seeing you for the first time and realizing just how deeply his presence affected you.
"I donât know what Iâd do," you whispered, voice barely holding together. "Without you, itâd be like⊠losing the part of me that makes sense of the world. Youâre my safe place, Logan. I donât want a life that doesnât have you in it."
A faint tremor ran through Logan, and for a moment he just stood there, absorbing your words. Then, in a rare, unguarded gesture, he pulled you against him, burying his face in your hair, his arms wrapping around you as if he could shield you from everythingâhimself included.
"You wonât lose me," he murmured, his voice rough, barely more than a whisper. "Iâm here. And Iâm not goinâ anywhere. Not ever."
You pulled back just enough to look up at him, your hands resting on his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart under your palms. "Promise me," you whispered, your voice filled with both a plea and a demand.
Loganâs hand came up to cradle the side of your face, his thumb brushing your cheek as he met your gaze, raw and steady. "I promise, darlinâ," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "As long as Iâm breathinâ, Iâm yours."
You nodded, a soft smile breaking through the tears as you let out a shaky breath. "Good," you whispered, a hint of your usual fire returning. "Because Iâm not letting you go. Youâre stuck with me, tough guy."
A smile finally broke through Loganâs serious expression, a low, rough laugh rumbling from his chest. "Well, I guess I got the better end of that deal," he murmured, his thumb tracing softly over your lips, his gaze warm and unguarded. "Lucky me."
You let out a laugh, sniffing as you swatted his hand away playfully. "No, Iâm the lucky one, and donât go thinking otherwise." You shook your head, the emotions bubbling up as you looked up at him. "Youâve seen the darkest parts of me, Logan. You know it wasnât always easy for me either."
Loganâs smile faded slightly, his hand still cupping your cheek as he looked down at you, his brow furrowing. "Yeah⊠I guess sometimes I forget that," he admitted quietly, his voice carrying a hint of regret. "I⊠I let that damn nightmare get the best of me last night. Pulled me into my head, made me feel like I was poisoninâ your life somehow." He sighed, looking away for a moment. "I let it eat at me, let it convince me that I was only dragginâ you down."
He trailed off, his thumb idly brushing against your cheek, almost as if grounding himself in the warmth of your skin. "Guess I let that fear carry me away," he murmured, his voice barely more than a whisper. "And I hurt you because of it."
Your hand found his, squeezing gently as you shook your head. "You donât have to apologize for feeling like that. I know what those fears can do. Iâve had them too, remember?"
He frowned, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes. "You? I⊠I didnât know you ever doubted us like that."
A soft smile played on your lips, tinged with a hint of sadness. "Oh, Iâve had my moments. There was a time, back when we were dating when I thought I wasnât strong enough for all this." You looked down, your fingers tracing small patterns on his hand as you continued. "There were days I felt like I couldnât handle the weight of what you carried⊠like maybe I wasnât enough for you."
Loganâs hand tightened around yours, his gaze darkening as if the thought alone pained him. "I had no idea," he murmured, his voice rough with emotion. "Why didnât you tell me?"
You gave him a soft, reassuring smile. "Because you already had so much on your shoulders. I didnât want to add to it. But⊠there was one night that changed everything."
He tilted his head slightly, his brows furrowing in curiosity. "Which night?"
You took a deep breath, a nostalgic smile crossing your face as you remembered. "It was that night when I got that phone call about my dad being in the hospital. You remember? Iâd barely told you anything about him, about my family, because⊠well, I thought it was easier not to talk about it."
Logan nodded, his gaze intense, recalling the way you had looked that nightâpale, shaken, trying to hold yourself together. "Yeah," he said softly. "You were tryinâ to act like you were fine, but I could see you were fallinâ apart inside."
You laughed lightly, nodding. "Exactly. I was a mess, trying so hard not to let it show. But then⊠you showed up. I was packing a bag, trying to figure out what to do, and suddenly, you were just there. You didnât ask questions, didnât push me to talk⊠you just held me." Your voice softened a hint of awe in it. "And then you drove me to the hospital and stayed with me all night, even though I told you it was fine and that you didnât have to."
Logan looked down, a faint blush touching his cheeks, as if embarrassed by his own gentleness. "Didnât seem like you should be alone," he muttered, almost to himself. "Couldnât leave you to deal with that by yourself."
"Exactly," you whispered, lifting his hand to press a soft kiss to his knuckles. "That night, you made me feel like⊠like I was worth being cared for. Like I could fall apart, and youâd be there to catch me. Thatâs when I knew I loved you, Logan. Not because youâre some âtough guyâ who protects everyone around him, but because of the way you loveâwith everything youâve got, even when it scares you."
He swallowed, visibly moved, his thumb still tracing your cheek as he looked down at you, the weight of your words settling over him. "Youâre tellinâ me that one night⊠thatâs what made you fall for me?"
You nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. "It made me fall more for you and since then, every time youâve shown up, every time youâve let your guard down just enough to let me in⊠it only made me love you more."
Logan exhaled, his hand slipping down to rest over your heart as if feeling the steady beat under his palm reassured him of something he could never put into words. "I donât deserve you," he whispered, his voice breaking slightly. "But⊠God, Iâm gonna try like hell to be the man you see me as."
You leaned up, brushing your lips softly against his, pouring every bit of reassurance and love you had into that kiss. "You already are," you murmured against his lips. "I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. I wouldnât trade you, or this life, for anything."
A soft laugh escaped him, full of relief and something tender. âWell,â he whispered, pulling you close, his forehead resting against yours. âIâm done lettinâ my own damn fears get in the way of us."
âGood,â you whispered. âBecause marrying you was the best thing I ever did.âÂ
He leaned down, capturing your lips in a kiss. His hand moved to the small of your back, pulling you closer as if you might slip away. When you finally broke apart, he looked down at you with a gaze so soft, so full of unspoken devotion, it made your heart ache.

I got the image of the Jack, Miko and Rafael learning to imitate Distressed/terrified Sparkling cries and using them against the decepticons. Itâs a very efficient defense mechanism. Every cybertronian who heard them is freaking out because oh primus how is the squishy thing making that noise and I gotta protect it at all costs. The sheer chaos that would ensue as the âprotect/rescue the sparklingâ programming kicks in full force.
ââ
The vehicons are clustered at the other end of the room panicking. They donât know what to do. The human sparklings are looking right at them and making distress noises. The guilt is killing them.
Knockout going âis the car form less alarming?! If I turn into a car will you stop seeing me as the threat?!â
Breakdown is having a breakdown.
Starscream pinned to the wall on the other side of the room having an internal crisis. He doesnât like this. Make it stop.
Soundwave makes no noise but you can FEEL the sheer distress radiating off of him.
Megatron is frozen. No thoughts, head empty. Heâs not moving at all. He doesnât know how to handle this.
ââ
The autobots have mixed feelings about this. Theyâre glad the kids have a way of defending themselves but please donât do it near them. Theyâre stressed out enough as it is.
(This might sound kinda dumb but I thought it was kinda funny. Very tired while writing this)
Wait no this is actually brilliant.
The Decepticons never anticipated their long buried parental nature to be used against them. No one did. But they day the human children turned up on the battlefield looking far too confident, every Bot and Con present had the all encompassing feeling that something was terribly wrong. Their suspicions were quickly confirmed when, before the Decepticons could do much of anything to get the relics they were after, Rafael began to wail.
Normally, human screams meant nothing. But there was a certain pitch that sounded so close to a cry of distress from a sparkling that, to warriors who had not heard a sparkling in millennia, it was enough to send them running to help. In this case, the issue was only compounded as the children scattered like mice and started making the same noises. The Decepticons could hardly focus on the Autobots booking it to the relics as they frantically tried to locate the fictitious sparklings calling for aid.
The Vehicons managed to get to Jack, but he just kept looking up at them defiantly. Every time one of the dozen or so Vehicons on the field tried to grab him, blast him, or otherwise hurt him, Jack would chirp like a sparkling and send all of them scurrying back. It wasn't cute to the Vehicons. Having never seen actual sparklings but still having the coding needed to adore them, they looked at Jack and saw a weird frame-walker. They weren't sure what to do about it except try to haul themselves away while also keeping a vague circle around the human male.
Miko on the other hand made it a point to chase after Megatron and Soundwave, screeching like a sparkling about to be shredded. Neither stopped for her, but Megatron completely lost his train of thought every time that screech rang out. He could have been aiming at Optimus with a perfect head shot and he would be unable to fire as Miko's distressed sounds rang out in his audials. He KNEW she wasn't a sparking. His coding wasn't even that strong. But by Primus, hearing her screech was the same as watching a civilian get run over by a bus, repeatedly. Focus was impossible.
Soundwave wasn't much better. He didn't react outwardly, but the slowing of his steps and the way he tried to sidestep Miko gave away his distress. He avoided her like the plague, trying to refocus but being unable to really get far as Miko screamed like a demon. It was a fight against the Unmaker himself to keep Soundwave from bolting over to collect the sparkling who sounded so very upset.
Rafael, for his part, followed Miko's lead and harassed the other three members of High Command most often found out on the field. Breakdown ran screaming the moment Rafael started chirping at him. This was both out of fear of the frame-walker and to escape the inevitable overreaction of his coding. He may or may not have attempted parkour once or twice to get as far away from the smallest of the humans as possible.
Knockout tried to ignore Rafael when the kid chirped up at him, he really really did. But how does one ignore the Cybertronian equivalent of a soaking wet kitten meowing up at you? Simply put: you don't. Knockout gave in and quickly dropped down to try and soothe the non-existent sparkling every. single. time. Rafael pulled his noise trickery. He never fails to panic and attempt to flash colorful things at Rafael to get him to stop. Every Decepticon has since been endlessly disappointed in him.
Starscream, being terrified of things that really shouldn't be there, took the skies the instant the trio began screeching. Nope. Not today Unicron. He'll get the mission done or get the heck out of dodge to avoid coding coming online. He doesn't need empty nest syndrome on top of a crippling case of "I Love Power." He also doesn't need to deal with the horrific mental image of a squishy somehow managing to sound like a sparkling. Nope. Nope. NOPE.
The Autobots are grateful the kids can protect themselves a bit now. But by Primus, they have known NO peace since the kids figured it all out.

You were a ray of sunshine in the Batfamily's life. You loved the children and Bruce with your entire heart, and everyone took notice. You loved each of the family members differently but equally intensely. No kid ever felt unloved by you.
You softly hum as you trace Damian's face. He always struggled to sleep. He struggled to relax enough even with sleep medication aiding him most nights. Until you start humming softly and draw patterns on his face lightly. His entire body physically relaxes as his eyes flutter shut, his breathing evening out after a minute. His face subconsciously leans into your soothing touch.
With a tender smile on your face and a gentle forehead kiss, you moved onto the next Batboy who struggles with sleep: Dick. You knock your secret knock with a smile on your face. You had a soft spot for Dick the second the kid lost his parents. How could you possibly not when his small body shook so badly in your arms? He had the same tormented look Bruce used to have before your loving family formed.
You hear a soft but excited "come in" from Dick, who seemed to have still been getting ready for bed. He loved it when you told him stories above all else. You told him thousands of your stories, but he was always excited to listen to you talk about the moment you adopted him. You'd tell him about how much you loved him as you reminisced on the first time he called you mom. How your heart had never been so full of love and adoration for your kid. He wasn't an easy kid, but you loved him deeply, and you reminded him constantly.
Dick gives you a warm smile as you set down his nighttime tea: always chamomile with lemon and sugar cubes on the side. It had to be sugar cubes, as the packets tasted weird to him.
"What story do you want tonight, sweetheart?"
He surprised you, honestly, when he asked to hear about how you met Bruce. You chuckle softly.
"It was a rainy Thursday night. We both became vigilantes the same day and met during our nightly adventures. We looked at each other for a long time before we heard police sirens and ran towards it. I must have saved his life hundreds of times that night. We have been close together ever since."
Dick cuddles into his bed and looks at you with wide eyes. He was always excited to hear this story. With a look of adoration, he murmurs,
"And you give us a hard time about our recklessness."
You roll your eyes but can't fight the fond smile off your face. You gently play with Dick's hair, continuing your tale,
"I'm not the one charging into burning buildings nightly without superpowers, darling.
Dick and Bruce adored your moral compass more than anything. You always did what was right no matter how hard it was to do. You saved thousands of lives throughout the time you were a vigilante with Bruce. He called you rash every night because of the way you handled being a superhero, but you see the endangered people and never hesitate. You are immune to damage of all types, so it was easy to run into the thick of danger to save everybody from a burning building or from the Joker's psychopathic game. Joker was angry when he found out you couldn't get hurt. You don't even feel pain because of your powers. You weren't a fun target to him, so he gave up.
"I wish I could've met younger you. I love seeing my mom being a casual badass."
You laugh softly, giving him a cheek kiss as a goodnight. Batboy number 3 was Jason. Jason took after your personality more than the rest and defends you even when it's just reporters talking bad about you. You taught him how to love and accept being loved, despite everything. You taught him to look for the best in everyone because their stories often run deeper than the surface.
You can hear his excited steps as he lets you in. He held up the newest book he wanted to share with you. You read to him every night, as he finds your voice soothes him.
He drags you to his bedside and climbs into his bed. You kissed his forehead before starting to read the book. He knows he could listen to Audiobooks, but he found it was you that soothed him. He found the narrators of Audiobooks often annoying or dramatic, but you read the exact way he wants you to and at the perfect speed.
He was soon drifting off as well, your hand holding his and squeezing morse code messages into his hand. You kissed the tip of his nose gently before moving on.
By the time you were done with all the children, Bruce was back. You grabbed the first aid kid you keep in your shared room. Bruce must've had an easier night because his injuries weren't nearly as life-threatening as usual.
He hissed through his teeth as you cleaned his wounds, but you murmured reassuring words and held his hand with your free hand.
"Just a few more, baby. You're doing so good, my hero."
He squeezed your hand when you were done. His exhausted smile was still so full of love for you.
"We're so lucky to have you in our lives."
He kissed your cheek gently. He loved you deeply, even when it was hard for him to express it. Love truthfully scared him ever since his parents' deaths, but you were the ray of sunshine in his darkest of nights.
"I'm lucky to have my little army of heroes. I love you and the kids."
He gave a tired hum of acknowledgement.
"We all love you too."
Alfred, appearing as silently as ever at the doorway of the bedroom, said,
"Master Wayne, if you don't marry her, I will."
You laugh at Bruce's shocked expression. He whipped around to face Alfred, who was staring at him with a look that was so serious you couldn't help but smirk at. While you'd love to marry Bruce, you knew it wasn't that simple for him. He struggles with the idea of having a loving wife waiting for him. He doesn't feel like he deserves it at the moment, and you respect that. You will continue to be the mother of his children and the warm presence in his life. You voice your thoughts,
"Alfred, I don't need to marry Bruce to be part of the family."
Alfred raised an eyebrow at Bruce, but Bruce was in another place.
"That much is clear, but I still want you officially part of the family. You're the glue holding everyone together."
You smile at the duo. Family is so much deeper than blood, and you continue to prove it to the Bat family every day. You ruffle Bruce's hair gently.
"I'd never say no to my boys."
Bruce took Alfred's advice on your anniversary. He proposed in front of the entire family, which inevitably ended in a dog pile of hugs from all your boys and a sweet kiss from Bruce.
Bruce, your private and loving fiancée, confirmed the engagement to the world the next day, holding up your hand and giving it a gentle kiss. He held your engagement hand everywhere he went, the rest of the Bat family fighting to hold your other hand, eventually scheduling who holds your other hand in an endless cycle.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. The attempted rehabilitation of Mrs. Bennet by fandom drives me bananas. My own mother occasionally lacked the awareness to make things easy for me socially but she was NOT a horrible selfish grasping shrew. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE. The text is clearly and explicitly portraying a bad mother, and showing how her own irresponsible choices make everything worse.
My own mother had a different kind of bad mother herself, so it has always bothered me the degree to which people want to make excuses for mothers specifically, as though bad fathers are the only kind of bad parent that exists. Mothers can also be bad parents and itâs ok and in fact important to acknowledge that. Yeah our parents (even at times our fathers!) have pressures on them that arenât obvious to us as kids, and Iâm extremely aware from personal experience of what those pressures can be. But even people who are making bad parenting decisions for understandable reasons are bad parents. In an IRL situation it is ok to say well clearly you were a bad parent during this period but as an adult Iâve decided to forgive you and continue having a relationship with you and thatâs ok too! Thatâs allowed and is a rough approximation of how Iâve chosen to approach my relationship with my own most difficult parent.
But Mrs. Bennet is fictional. Youâre not gonna hurt her feelings by failing to show up for Christmas dinner. She is trapped in amber during the period in her daughtersâ lives when she was probably least nurturing and most difficult to deal with, and acknowledging that is honest and hurts no one. A lot of defenses of her boil down to âyeah she was awful but you have to understand that she was worried for her daughtersâ futureâ. To which I have 2 things to say:
Clearly not fucking worried enough, since she chose living vicariously through Lydia and indulging her own tastes over her daughtersâs material benefit with incredible consistency.
This argument makes my skin crawl due to how often I see it applied to similarly selfish mothers IRL. We have a wider culture of excusing unhealthy maternal behavior because âher heartâs in the right placeâ. You know what after a certain point the placement of your goddamn heart doesnât matter anymore. If youâve gotta fake good behavior then just do that and leave your hazy grasp of anatomy out of it.
I know this is ranty and less articulate than the posts above, but I think you could argue that this conversation highlights a maybe under appreciated way that Austen is still relevant in the modern era. Yeah there are a lot of differences in culture between her time and ours, and the process of looking for a partner is typically pretty different. But this book also asks the questions âwhat is a âgoodâ marriage, and what are âgoodâ parents in the context of looking for a spouse?â And provides a really interesting gallery of options in response to both questions. Is Darcy a good âparentâ to Georgiana? Who is a better parent to Lydia, Darcy or her own parents? Is Charlotteâs financially advantageous marriage a âgoodâ one? Should her parents have allowed it? What about Mr. and Mrs. Bennettâs? And while Charlotteâs choice is I think probably viewed a lot less sympathetically now than it wouldâve been at the time, Iâd be fascinated to know how this conversation compares to Mrs. Bennettâs reception at the time of publication. A good marriage looks different now, but good parents? Oh now that conversation is as old as the hillsâŠ
For the past several years (and perhaps longer) in the P&P fandom I've seen a lot of people who want to rehabilitate Mrs. Bennet: like, sure, she's uncouth and seems greedy, but it's because she cares so much about her daughters' futures; her situation is actually really stressful and uncertain and she's powerless to change it and her husband makes fun of her, and so it's natural that it would cause her to be anxious all the time; maybe she doesn't have the intelligence or social awareness to understand that her behaviour is actually harming her daughters' prospects, but at least her heart is in the right place.
I'm usually not the type of person who argues that fandom is actually being too nice to a female character, but in this case I don't buy the counter-narrative (which I think is popular enough at this point to be fanon / a narrative in itself) about Mrs. Bennet.
For one thing, she was never really powerless in this situation. These people are rich even for gentry. Mr. Bennet's income was always good, at 2,000 pounds per annum (even though I can't believe he isn't neglecting some practices that could raise it higher). Mrs. Bennet had 4,000 pounds from her parents and a further 1,000 from Mr. Bennet. Invested in the 4 per cents (for example), this is 200 pounds per year in pin money that Mrs. Bennet could spend without touching the principle of her dowry, and without affecting Mr. Bennet's income. This is more than some people's entire yearly incomes.
The picture of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet that we get in P&P is not of people who are helpless against their circumstances, but of people who are extraordinarily neglectful. We're told that:
Mr. Bennet had very often wished, before this period of his life, that, instead of spending his whole income, he had laid by an annual sum, for the better provision of his children, and of his wife, if she survived him. [...] When first Mr. Bennet had married, economy was held to be perfectly useless; for, of course, they were to have a son. This son was to join in cutting off the entail, as soon as he should be of age, and the widow and younger children would by that means be provided for. Five daughters successively entered the world, but yet the son was to come; and Mrs. Bennet, for many years after Lydiaâs birth, had been certain that he would. This event had at last been despaired of, but it was then too late to be saving. Mrs. Bennet had no turn for economy; and her husbandâs love of independence had alone prevented their exceeding their income.
We also know that the "continual presents in money which passed to [Lydia] through her motherâs hands," plus her allowance and food, amount to about 90 pounds per year. Rather than saving up from the beginning in case the entail is not broken, rather than beginning to save once it's clear a son will not arrive, rather than making Jane's dowry the full 5,000 from her mother (which would be something) and saving up for the younger girls' dowries thereafterâwhich is what would be typical, and that's why Lady Catherine was so shocked that all the girls were out at onceâMrs. Bennet's housekeeping, dress, the girls' allowance, presents of money over and above their allowance, plus whatever Mr. Bennet is spending money on (and other expenses relating to servants, carriages, maintenance &c. which are unavoidable), add up to their entire income. The only reason why Mrs. Bennet doesn't overspend even that is that that's where Mr. Bennet puts his foot down.
Mrs. Bennet is actively harming her daughters' prospects, not even of marriage, but of living respectably if they don't marry, because she doesn't have the temperance not to spend all of the income that is allotted to her. It is the role of the woman in a marriage to take charge of the housekeeping, servants, cooking, furniture, and all expenses relating thereto (plus certain attentions to her tenants and any living in genteel poverty in the area, though presumably this will depend on her income and whether there's a parish church with a parson's wife who's doing some of these things). She's an adult who should be competent to manage these things in a reasoned way without needing to be dictated to.
It is supposed to be the role of the woman in a marriage to take charge of her daughters' educationâand yet Mrs. Bennet did not hire a governess, and Elizabeth says that she didn't spend much time teaching her daughters anything (it's not clear to what degree she's educated herself). Granted, the girls did have mastersâbut, from the sounds of things, that was only if they requested them. No one was required to learn much of anything, which will probably further harm the marriage prospects of the girls who "chose to be idle."
I think the "point" of Mrs. Bennet is that she is one half of one type of bad marriage which the novel illustrates, in contrast with the Gardiners' marriage. These marriages are two possible models for the Bennet daughters to look to. At one point, Elizabeth's prospective marriage is explicitly compared to her parents', with her in the role of her father: Mr. Bennet says "My child, let me not have the grief of seeing you unable to respect your partner in life" (emphasis original).
We might wonder whether Elizabeth saw herself potentially in the role of her father, in a marriage that was very intellectually unequal, when she rejected Mr. Collins; or whether she also saw herself in the role of her mother, married to a man who insults and doesn't respect her, when she rejected Mr. Darcy. Ultimately, she accepts Mr. Darcy after she realises that he is nothing like her father; that he is diligent in attending to his responsibilities, and that he does evidently respect her mind.
This isn't me defending Mr. Bennet, who is also a bad parent and a bad spouse. I do, however, find it a little disturbing when people suggest that Mr. Bennet is at fault for not controlling or curtailing his wife. His wife is a grown woman. Surely we don't actually believe that a situation where a man is legally in complete control over his wife, merely because he is a man and she is a woman, is in any way natural, moral, or just? (This also goes for people who suggest that Mr. Bingley needs to get his sister 'in line' đŹđŹđŹ.)
Mrs. Bennet should be competent to manage her household and her daughters. Given that she's not, yes, Mr. Bennet, according to Georgian and Victorian ideas of the role of a man in a marriage, "should" have stepped in and started dictating to her. But I don't really think that's what Austen is suggesting went wrong here. The models of good marriages we haveâthe Gardiners, the Bingleys and Darcys after their weddingsâare all ones in which the women were basically sensible people to begin with. In the latter two cases, we are told of particular ways in which the men stand to benefit from some mental quality of their future spouse (Elizabeth's good humour and ease in company; Jane's steadiness and determination).
The ideal which some Georgians had of a husband's role being to shape his wife's intellect doesn't seem to be what's being advocated here. If Mr. Bennet made a mistake, it was in marrying a silly, selfish, ill-tempered woman to begin with, not in failing to browbeat her into submission once he found out that she was silly, selfish, and ill-tempered. The idea is that you should choose your spouse carefully. But that message doesn't work if Mrs. Bennet is just a woman in a difficult situation who has her heart in the right place.

I keep seeing posts comparing this to 2004 or other past election losses and how this feels the same or similar to those past times.
As another Old who voted in 2004 (and I missed voting in 2000 by a month and was furious about it) I really can't even put into words how vehemently I disagree.
In 2008, I remember very earnestly sitting down with some friends and saying that if somehow McCain beat Obama, I'd have to join the fucking revolution, because I couldn't believe that this country would elect a Republican AGAIN after the previous 8 years of bullshit. I look back now and think how incredibly naive I was, but I also look back now and think, damn, why aren't I 25 NOW? I can't join the revolution now, I'm 41 and I own a house and have two young children and one old parent depending on me.
Because honestly, truly, as someone who has been studying American history since I was 7, as a Civil War buff with expertise on the years before the Civil War, as someone who has at least some memories of every election since 1988... guys, this isn't the same as 2004. I was furious then. Swift Boat bullshit I swear to fucking dog. And I was and still am fairly convinced that the 2000 election was deliberately stolen. But also I still had every reason then to believe in the rule of law.
In 2004, I still believed term limits would be respected.
In 2004, I still believed a person who wasn't elected would demure gracefully to the winner.
In 2004, I still trusted the courts.
In 2004, I still believed that we'd made progress on bigotry.
I could go on, and to be clear, my point isn't "I thought these institutions were ~good~" in literally any objective sense. Y'all are cynical but my generation was raised by, surrounded by, Vietnam vets and trust me, there was no way to be a kid, seeing what the 70s did to this country, and not come out as cynical and furious as the best of um. (My grandfather was a World War 2 vet, as were his close friends. My father and both his brothers are Vietnam vets, tho my dad didn't go overseas.) But I did believe that even corrupt institutions, even broken racist systems, even fucking Republicans, would follow basic norms of democracy. They said they believed in the constitution and I believed them. I believed that, like Nixon, truly getting caught doing something insane would at least force a mea culpa and turn public opinion. I believed...
Well, I guess it doesn't matter.
Because I no longer believe any of that.
I have watched the guard rails disappear over my lifetime. I have watched the party who once spent 2 years pursuing a guy over a BJ in the oval office elect a convicted rapist. I have watched and at times I've participated and I've voted and I've organized and I've protested and I've read the news more days than not and I've lived and I've grown and I've learned.
I have been an adult, legally, for almost 24 years now.
Guys... there are no norms remaining on the far right. The guard rails are gone. The Fascists control the White House, the senate, the Supreme Court, and things aren't looking promising for the House.
The bus has no brakes anymore. They think they have a mandate - and I can't blame them, as horrifying as this mandate is, because if things had gone the other way and Harris had gotten these results I'd also think it was a mandate.
Please sit with what this means: Trump and the Republican party said, "hand us the reins and we'll make everyone you hate hurt," and more than half the people who bothered to vote said "sure buddy, here goes." We don't have a usurper this time. This is the country that the majority of Americans said they wanted. Whether they come to regret that or not, they saw open Fascism and went "oh yes, count me in." And it wasn't because of the electoral college this time. It was because this country is so bigoted and misogynistic that they'd rather have this than a woman of color in the office.
I'm sick of "well she didn't run a good campaign." (Lie.) I'm sick of, "well we didn't get a primary." (Who cares?) I'm *extremely* sick of "well, Palestine." (Yes! Democrats actions have made the suffering there so much worse! It fucking sucks! You know what's about to suck so much worse?)
15 million people who showed up for Joe Biden couldn't be fussed to place a vote for Kamala Harris. Whatever their reason for not voting, we all knew the outcome if she lost. And seeing open fascism didn't fire them up enough to make the effort, and that's fucking pathetic. The consequences of the worst happening mattered so little to them that they couldn't be fucking bothered to make the minimum effort to stop it, and now millions of people will suffer as a result.
Because here we are: the huge swathe of the country who wanted a strongman now have one.
Look, I don't know what happens next. But I do know, and remember keenly: after 2016, Trump did, or at least tried to do, most of the things he said he'd do. When he was stopped, it was often because of career government employees: judges, bureaucrats, etc. And this time, he's said he's going to purge those people. I don't know if he'll succeed, but I certainly believe he'll try.
This is not 2004 again.
This is 2024. The Republicans have ripped the mask to shreds, shredded apart the book of political norms, and empowered hate, and they've been handed a governmental mandate for stamped "have at with our blessing!" in exchange.
And now they'll use that mandate to make everyone they hate suffer: people of color, queer people, trans people, immigrants, non-Christians.
Don't assume the worst can't happen. I am a Jew, and I have a photo album full of black and white photos of dead people that constantly reminds me: the worst has happened and it can happen again.
Do not despair. Despair is enervating. Be furious. As we should be. These douche bags are repulsive. Be prepared to fight. Be prepared to flee. Be prepared to defend. Don't assume you simply can't do something. There's always something to do, and even the smallest act of defiance can help. There's never any knowing until after which acts of resistance will end up galvanizing the good and just out of their apathy. But that apathy is the enemy.
Because none of this is normal. None of this is "just like when..." Please stop saying it is.
And before anyone screams "privilege" at me, yes, I am in many ways. I'm white. I have access to some generational money even tho my own family lives paycheck to paycheck - we won't be rich but have enough of a support network to be comfortable. I live in a blue area of a blue state. But I'm also a woman (legally speaking, at least) married to another woman - since before Oberkfell, and yes I remember exactly what steps we had planned any time we wanted to leave our state. My wife has physical disabilities. We have two children. Both are biracial (half black). One is trans. We are caring for an elderly parent. I am Jewish and as my kids' birth parent, so are they. I own a publishing company that publishes the exact kinds of queer and kinky lit these people intend to ban. We tick so many boxes of what these people hate.
I know ya'll are scared. Trust me, I'm terrified. But fear is paralyzing. And that won't help. Whatever happens, don't lie down and take this shit.
When Gore lost I was one month shy of my 18th birthday and already in college. I have been fighting my entire adult life, and I'm exhausted. I'm much less able to fight now, much more tied down with responsibilities. But the fight isn't over. I'm checking our passports. I'm packing a go bag. I've convinced one vulnerable friend to move here and I have another who wants to and we're figuring out how to make that happen. I'm protecting who I can, starting with putting on my mask first. I don't know what will happen but if in the end all I can do is uproot my entire life to protect my children then I am preparing to do so. I can at least save them if no one else.
None of this is normal.
And I'm not sure, after Trump's in office, that anything will ever be normal again in the US. At least not the old normal. And there are ways that's a good thing, so many ways that the old normal sucked for so many people, and I'm optimistic that there's a bright future ahead, but man it looks far away right now. I don't want to go back to the old normal, and I want to be part of establishing a kinder, more just, more equal new normal, but we're a long way from there.
Whatever happens, we must endure. We must survive. We must support each other. We must find our allies and be prepared to compromise with them. Don't try to save everyone. You'll fail. Help even one person and you can change the world. Everyone things they can't do everything and so do nothing. That's insane. Do a single thing and it will be better than nothing. One phone call. One letter. One act of defiance. Very few people get the opportunity to grand gestures that matter, and the rest of us will die waiting for that moment. But the secret is that what makes those moments - the time when one person is in the right place at the right time for their action to matter - is built on millions of small moments by millions of people doing what little they can to make things slightly better. Think of every iconic photograph of a Sole Resistor you know of and think about every single tiny thing that had to happen for that moment to occur. Most of us will never me that one person, but that one person is a myth anyway. Countless tiny unseen moments create those myths. Doing literally anything is better than doing nothing.
And tooth and nail, quietly and loudly, in our homes and our towns and cities, during protests or when they come for our neighbors, we must fight.
#unforth rambles#politics#uspol#i probably shouldnt post this#and it probably wont get traction even though i am#but stop telling people that the normal methods of hunkering diwn and waiting for a 2026 blue wave will help#stop telling people this is just like something before#its not its not its not its so fucking not stop it

pretty pls with a cherry on top some hurt/comfort w/ luka from alien stage where him and reader were close as kids at anakt garden but as they grew up and entered alien stage he started to become more cold and mean which hurts reader :(( but despite that he shows heâs still the same luka they know and love :))
LUKA X READER (HURT/COMFORT)
Includes: Luka x reader, gn!reader, hurt/comfort, emotional hurt/comfort, can be both read as platonic or romantic
Luka had changed, or so you thought.
You had noticed this, much more than anyone else. Of course, you couldn't help but notice the changes in his demeanor, not after you two had basically grown up being sewn together.
It hurt, of course. It hurt a lot â you wanted to be close with him again. You had gotten some chances to speak with him, but most of those conversations were nothing but small talk.
You wondered if he missed you the same way you missed him. Did you even cross his mind?
He seemed to be having so much fun with the other participants. Yeah, you were glad to see him happy and enjoying his new relationships, but you felt left behind. Still, it tore you apart to see him doing not so greatly back in your Anakt Garden days, but still, you missed his friendship, the ways he would latch onto your arm while you both laid down in the grass and he would whisper a small 'I love you'.
... You just wanted him back.
What an irritating feeling. He had grown distant, so if you were to ask him for any sort of affection, you'd probably just be greeted with nothing but coldness.
Strangely enough, you had asked him to meet you after a round with some participants who, being completely honest, you didn't really care much about. He just stared at you for a while, then hesitated before accepting.
...
It had been a few days since then, the round had just finished, and you both arrived at the spot where you told him to meet you. Surprisingly, he was pretty early, and he didn't seem too nervous about talking to you once again, something which you couldn't relate to.
"Hey, Luka," your lips trembled slightly as you spoke. You stood up beside him, and he just gave you a nod of acknowledgment. Did you mean nothing to him?
You didn't want to know.
After a few seconds of silence, which seemed to be nearly eternal, he spoke. "So, what do you want to talk about?" He questioned you but didn't make any eye contact with you.
"Well, I just wanted to catch up with you. It's been a while sinceâ" You were cut off by his own words.
"... You still care about me, no? It seems like you haven't changed at all," Luka whispered your name after finishing that sentence.
He was right. When you both were younger, you were always worried sick about him. You made sure that he didn't get hurt or anything similar, something which he showed his appreciation for.
But now, he barely even acknowledged your mere existence. You were surprised that he even remembered your name.
Trying to laugh it off to lighten up the mood, you laughed softly. "I guess," you murmured. "That's not the case for you, though."
Luka's eyes finally met yours.
"Who said it wasn't?" His voice seemed genuinely confused. "Maybe we don't talk that much... but you're still someone who means a lot to me."
His cheeks seemed to have a small pink color dusting them. He had grown up now, so he felt sort of forced to be different from when he was a kid. "If you think I don't care, you're pretty wrong." He added onto his words.
"What... what do you mean?"
"We may not talk much, but you will always be completely and utterly adored by me," A small smile formed in his lips. "After all, you showed me what love really was."
The words that were being said made you feel weirdly emotional, so you latched onto his arm, just like how he did to you when you both were children.
"... I won't let you leave again, Luka."

the way I haven't opened any socials since brazil because I KNOW the hate will be vile and as someone who's seen him go through these hate cycles since pretty much the beginning of his entire f1 career, I just don't want to see any more of those posts.
It's just a sport. People win, people lose, that's life sometimes. I've watched enough cricket as a kid growing up in south asia to know how passionate people are about sports. I get it. I've seen TVs set on fire just because our teams didn't win the world cup. You're allowed to air your feelings. but what is not okay is piling your opinions on people who are very real and very affected by your words.
As fans, we don't even know a fraction of the world that these people live in. There's so much more to them, and their lives, than the media content you watch lets on. You don't know these people.
Let me say that again: You don't know these people.
And it's never okay to send out so much hate to people you dont even know.
No one's asking you to turn into a lando fan suddenly. You don't have to like everythign he does or says or stands for. Still doesn't give you the right to spread this vitriol on the internet. If every time you went out, 15 people you never knew said shitty stuff to you in the span of half an hour, it would take a toll on you.
Max was a monster in brazil, that drive was a masterclass. There's a reason they call him the best in the business, and he reminded everyone of it while also securing his championship. Good for him.
But Lando has done so much. In one season he's gone from having zero wins to a championship contender and fuck am I proud of him for that. He's had his first win this season, one we're all incredibly proud of him for, and already he's in the fight at the top. and that's mega. Honestly, even if he stays second and wins vice champion that would be amazing and I'll be proud of him, if Charles takes over in the standings and he drops to third I will still be a Lando fan because I've watched this man start his career in f1 as a 19 year old kid, and grow into this powerhouse that he is in formula one today.
So please, go out, touch some grass. Sit with your friends, tell your family you love them. Make memories with people you cherish, because we're all only here for so long. Stop wasting your time being a container of hatred and vitriol, letting all that negativity seep into yourself, just so you can hurt someone that you don't even know, someone who doesn't even know you exist. Instead, be better for the people you know, for the people who love you.
You know what's funny? Lando never even properly said that he was a championship contender. The only championship he ever spoke about was the constructors, the F1 media pushed him into this fight.
The way some people act on here you would think he said at some point that he would be champion no questions asked but he hasn't, he was always pessimistic about the gap.
My brand is and always will be that the tax evading millionaires are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves but damn I feel like we are crossing some lines with Lando now. The man can't even open his mouth without fans of almost every driver on the grid starts dogpiling on him. You hear one out of context sentence from an interview and just run with it only to find out that he didn't call Max' win lucky. (But you don't correct your post because why would you, Lando probably deserved the hate for one reason or another right?) You see team orders happen and call him unworthy without considering that every champion on the current grid has benefited from team orders. (But it's OK because Lando is so fucking annoying anyways right?)
Idk if it's because I have been part of many fandoms where things have escalated to the point of no return and that's why I get scared when I see this level of piling on someone but I genuinely feel like we have reached an unreasonable point now.
#the way im posting this and like 2 people will see it#lol#but#lando norris#i am so fucking proud of him#needed to get this off my chest i think#yeah#f1#formula one#mclaren#max verstappen#brazil gp 2024#formula 1#sao paulo gp 2024#brazilian gp 2024#f1 2024#charles leclerc#carlos sainz#daniel ricciardo#oscar piastri#motorsports

Bruce Wayne x Batdad Reader!
Being Bruceâs husband wasnât as easy as you thought there were a lot of difficulties in your life while being married to him.But it was all good he loved and you loved him. Simply as that, you guys met because you where a famous singer and met at one of his galas.
At first he was all flirty and honoring his playboy persona. You didnât show any interest at first because who doesnât flirt with M/n. But Bruce was kind of charming and really nice. Beside everything you heard from him. And then you woke beside him in bed. âOh my fucking-â anyway- letâs leave that behind.
After that night you thought he would leave you like it never happened and keep going on with his life, but surprisingly he invited you on a date. A couple years later you met Alfred a really nice person and enjoyed your company. And all of that disappeared because your 5 year boyfriend left you without a word for 10 fuckin years.
âHey Alfred have you heard from Bruce I didnât see him todayâ âoh master M/n⊠I thought you knewâŠâ after that you promised to never trust anyone that easily, sure it affected you but you werenât going to stop and be miserable. You decided to take out some new songs.
âM/N is back!â Your fans were going crazy! Everybody thought you quit the music career and left. And⊠Bruce well not like he didnât care about you he just wanted to make a change. He was training to protect you and Alfred. And then he was there your âboyfriendâ you were spending time with Alfred. You werenât going to leave him alone for 10 whole years!
âH- hi ummâŠâ Bruce looked at you. He looked much muscular and old⊠â Alfred I think I should goâŠâ you took your things and while you were about to open the door Bruce grabbed your hand. âDonât you-â âplease let me explainâŠâ you lost right there âwhat Bruce!? Explain that you left me for 10 years!â Bruce was shocked. He remembered you much calmer and shy.
You let him explain why he leaved you. Because you were still young you gave him another opportunity. Some years later you met Richard or Dick who you protected with your life and refused to let him be robin. âSweetheart pleaseâŠâ you refused to look at him âBruce itâs too dangerous for a literal kid to be fighting grown ass men or women who want to hurt him!â Dick heard your discussion somewhat regretting he asked Bruce to be his sidekick. You saw Dick on the corner wanting to cry⊠âoh⊠Richard why are you crying?â âIâm sorry⊠I didnât want you to fight I I- just wanted to help.â You sighed âIâm not sure if Iâm going to regret this but⊠I guess you can go help BruceâŠâ Bruce smiled and Dick celebrated and hugged you. âThank you!â You looked at Bruce and said darklyâBruce if something happens you are going to regret being Batmanâ Bruce only laughed and hugged both of you.
After some years Dick grew older and became a teenager. âHey Dick what do you want to eat today?â Dick really grew trust in you that he called you dad first than Bruce. âDunno dad maybe some pancakes??â And while Dick and Bruce were patrolling Bruce found Jason a young boy trying to steal the Batmobileâs tires.
Jason really liked you he had a better relationship with you then Bruce or Dick. He would often ask you to read him books. It was like that until that day⊠Joker captured Jason. âhey Bruce!â When you went to the bat cave you only found Dick and Bruce. âWhereâs Jason?â You were more then devastated when he died.
You and Bruce barely spoke, Dick tried to make you both love each other again, but he couldnât even make you both sleep in the same bed. After 1 or 2 years Bruce decided to adopt another kid. Tim. Thatâs when you started thinking about divorce.
âReally!? Another kid you wanna harm this one too?â You started loosing respect from Bruce, but there was nothing you could do he was so stubborn.
In those years that Tim became and trained to be a robin. You also trained⊠to kill the guy that took your son. You learned how to use every weapon you had on your use, you where stronger and faster, and learned a lot of fight movements.
The day you heard your third son was captured⊠you didnât let Bruce handle this. You went there by yourself with a shotgun, gun, rifle, a lot of more utensils that would help you get your son back.
The building was quiet there was no sign of life but only lifeless bodyâs all around you opened the door and automatically shot the Joker on his knee. âAaaaaaaaah!â He screamed in agony while watching you above him. âTim⊠go.â Tim looked at you and before he left he hugged you. âIt will be okayâŠâ after you made sure he left you grabbed a metal pipe and left the Joker on a wall. âHahahahahahah! Let me guess you are going to kill me! WOW Iâm so scared!â You looked at him angrily and hit him with the metal pipe. â SHUT THE FUCK UP!â He spat blood all over the floor. âBatsy is not gonna let you kill meâ he laughed quietly. âWell guess what⊠I will make sure he doesnât interfere. And I my self will make sure you donât take anyone elseâs kid againâ Joker looked confused but then realized. âYou are robins Dad! Batmanâs husband!â That name hurted you⊠âwell guess what it was so fun I donât regret it.â He was pushing your limits. You started breathing loudly and one by one you killed the man that killed your kid.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Hey yall! I think this was my longest post but I hope yâall like it. I leaved a tlou reference In there. Thatâs all! There might be part 2 tho.

ăCAPITANO
He knew firsthand how cruel the world can be, and you confirmed that for him more than anything else. You were a lively kid he had taken under his wing as a toddler, and even from a young age, he could tell that your health wasn't the best. It only got worse over time until you were left unable to walk or really move much on your own. But what truly broke his heart deep down was your will to live in the face of certain doom. Death wasn't an option in your mind, and you refused to let it take ahold of you.
Capitano, therefore, did his best to be as supportive as he can be. In a way, he sees you two as parallels of eachother, both cursed with a disease that's rotting you from the inside out and yet, here you were, still fighting for what you think is right. For a chance to live a life worth staying for. He knew he was too far gone, however, and therefore, just put all his energy in keeping you alive instead. He made sure you had the best doctors in all of Snezhnaya at your sides at all times.
And when you just wanted to take a moment with him to relax somewhere in peace, he'll grant you that wish as well. Capitano knows that realistically, your days are more than numbered... but if supporting you until the very end is what makes you feel better, then so be it.
ăORORON
You were a couple years younger than him and were taken in by him when he found you near dying on a dirt road. He initially wanted to give you to the village, but when you refused to leave him after he nurtured you back to health, he simply kept you in his home as a younger sibling. Citlali made sure to practically visit every other day to check up on you, however, as she doesn't entirely trust her grandson with your deteriorating health alone. She knew it was too much for even him and therefore made sure to teach him everything he knew. Especially when you stopped being able to walk. It was clear that Ororon was hurting with you and was deep down desperate too keep you alive one way or another, despite the grave situation.
But what pained him the most was the bright look in your eyes, even when you're in major agony. Your body was betraying your excitement for life. It was terrible, and yet, he didn't let you notice how bad he had it. If you were happy and content with him here when you took your last breath, then he had done everything he could have. And he'd make sure that exactly that would happen.
ăWRIOTHESLEY
He wanted you to live a happy, free life ever since he heard about your diagnosis. Wriothesley had taken you under his wing when you arrived as a young preteen and basically treated you as his own. Sigewinne kept an eye on you at all times as well, practically being glued to your side as she monitors the progression of your illness very closely. The Duke knew, however, that you wouldn't live for long after you weren't able to walk anymore. Your body was giving you up, but he refused to do so himself. Seeing you so bright and optimistic despite everything just motivated him to do better too.
He'll try his best to make your time in the fortress as enjoyable as possible. He will share his tea, crack some jokes, and watch the ocean life through the glass with you. Anything for a smile and happy laugh. And even if you're too tired and sick for any of it, he'll still be there to support you in silence. He wants you to know that he'll be there until you do take your last breath... but also, he'll be there to carry you back to the surface above after you do so.

Second Best- Jungkook (part 6)
Summary:Â Being friends with someone who has your heart itâs already hard, let alone when that special someone ends up falling in love with your best friend, the one you think would never make anything to hurt you . Will you be able to ignore it and move on? what will happen when everything gets too much for you to handle?
Genre:Â Friends to lovers; angst; body insecurities; bullying; friend betrayel;
Pairing:Â Jungkook x female!reader
Jungkook woke up around 9:30 am. The first thing he did was check his phone in case he had any notifications from Y/n, but had none. He was seriously getting worried about this lack of response. Had something happened with the person Y/n left with? If that was the case he would never be able to forgive himself. He knew he should have gone after her, he's so stupid.Â
He got up, took a quick shower, got dressed, grabbed his keys and left, he couldnât keep up with this uneasy feeling. Putting his helmet on, he drove to the coffee shop Y/n worked. He knew her shifts very well, and that was the only place he could find her. When he got there, he parked his bike, took a deep breath and got in looking everywhere for her but still no Y/n in sight.Â
âHey there moto boy. What can I get you?â Sana asked. Jungkook looked kinda confused. âI was actually looking for Y/n. Is she on her break?â Sana frowned and looked at him suspiciously.Â
âYouâre kidding right?â Sana exclamed. âYou are always together and talk to each otherall the time when you arenât. You canât tell me you didnât know she took some days offâÂ
The world fell at Jungkook's feet upon hearing that. Y/n took a few days off and didn't even answered to his texts or deign to call? what the fuck was going on. Jungkook nodded his head, said thank you and left, picking his phone up instantly to call Y/n. âThe person you called is not available. Please try again laterâÂ
Fuck. Me
------------Â
Y/n fell in love with that place as soon as she saw it. Everywhere she looked she she felt immense peace and everything seemed so quiet and cozy, everything to make the weight on her shoulders disappear. Upon entering the chalet, they were immediately greeted by a gentleman at the entrance who directed them to the reception.
After checking in and receive the keys, they picked up their luggage and followed the gentlemanto the elevator, who was showing them the way to their "apartmentâ. Y/n couldnât believe what her eyes were seeing. Walking in, sheâs faced with a very nice living room, with wooden walls and gray furniture. It had shelves with books, among other really cute stuff decorating the place. All very neutral and very light, exactly what she needed. On the coffee table was champagne and a plate with strawberries and chocolate with a small note saying "we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoy your presence. Thanks for choosing us. Have fun"Â
From the living room they went to the bedroom to organize their things. When they walked in Y/n was even more astonished. From their bed they had a view of the outside. She always loved snow and being there was filling her heart with so much happiness she wished she could live there forever.
âWhere did you find this place and how can you afford it for both of us?!â Y/n exclaimed. Lisa looked at her with a funny look âMy dad owns it. A benefit of traveling so much and not seeing his family for so long, not everything can be bad. I used to come here for Christmast and New year. It's crazy during those days and you know me, I love crazy and those were my favourite moments hereâ
Y/n laughed. Only Lisa could say something like that.Â
âSo⊠You know how to ski right?â Lisa asked out of nowhere. âOh hell no Lisa, no way, not right now, we just got here we shouldââ Y/n argued back but was soon interrupted by LisaÂ
âThere's a snow suit in the closet on the right. We have a lot to discover we won't wait until tomorrow. You rest during the night. Come on princess, time is moneyâ Y/n huffed while getting her suit to start putting it on. How could Lisa have so much energy was something she couldn't understand.
They both got dressed and head out of the chalet. Y/n was amazed by the view, everything was perfect. But itâs not an adventure if something doesn't go right for Y/n. Out of nowhere she lost sight of Lisa, making her panick. She had no idea where she was.
Y/n looked around trying to see her friend but couldnât identify anyone who would look like her. She started walking around worried about straying too far from where Lisa last saw her. Y/n was so distracted that she didn't even notice anyone coming close to her, ending up colliding with that person, causing her to lose balance and fall. The other person quickly knelt down, stretching out his hand to help her until she heard âY/n?âÂ
She looked up, took the stranger's hand and straightened her hair a little, trying to understand where she recognized that voice from, until the stranger took the protective mask off his eyes and saw him.
âTaehyung?â Â

"Hey, that was a bit uncalled for wasn't it?" Yuji looks to Kazuma but it seems he didn't stop looking upset after all this happening tonight.
"Kaz.." Mothra said. Kazuma growls, "Don't call me that! You may be you, but you're still a robot! Stop trying to act like you care! That's part of your programming, okay! Stop going go and beyond like you're human."
"Dude, that's not fair to say that! Haven't you seen what's happened so far!" Yuji said at him but he glares back.
"I have seen what's happened and it's getting worse. All because of those robots!" he shouted back at Yuji glaring at him then at Mothra.
"All because they think they can become human-"
He stops hearing Taz's shout but Yuji knew she was right. Right now isn't the time to argue. They had to find their friends and insure everyone is alright. See and catch this bad guy. And save this place.
"Save?! What else is there to save!? Whoever is messing with this place is some psychopath! Like what the fuck?!" Kazuma cursed. "What the hell do they want with this place?!"
"We don't know but their has to be a reason." Yuji said but heard Kazuma's bitter laughter.
"Oh I think I know! She and her so called friends wants to kill everyone in this damn place! Their after our blood and wants to kill us just like those kids at the basement right!? All because of the accidents right!" he said.
"......It's not that." Mothra said.
"Yes it is! You robots think your all alive and have a heart for humans but you DON'T! Your cold blooded killers that only cares about spilling the blood of the innocent! How can we even trust you guys after what happened!" he said pointing at Mothra who was silent.
"Believe me Kaz, me and my friends don't want to hurt anyone. We love all the people and children that come here to have fun. What happened that day and to the other children..it wasn't us. It was a fail malfunction.." she said.
"So your 'malfunction' of the kids being killed was false? Was kidnapping part of it? Was the glitch something use to hide behind what you guys did!?" he said mad.
"Kazuma STOP!" Yuji said glaring at him. "You need to calm down! It's her nor the others fault. It's the one that's causing all this to happen. Can't you see she's been trying to help us! If you didn't forget, Meko was taken because this crazy mysterious person forced one of them to take him. Right now, we are trying to save him before he ends up being the next victim. And that might be the same for our friend Miko or others!"
"......" However, Kazuma glares at Yuji but looks away. "Fine. I don't trust none of them after what happened and I still won't even to this night. She's lucky is all I'm saying. She nor the others deserve mercy anyway for what they caused. Honestly, they deserve to be destroyed for it." he hissed. "As I stated, their is nothing else left to save. Everything has gone down to shit by now."
"And you know? Maybe we should give them what they want! Maybe they will let us go if we do what they say!" he said.
"Are you insane!?" Yuji said.
"I'm not! We could have been killed by these things!" he argues back.
"I think that works for us, Mothra. Besides, just in case something happens we have a safe place to go to." Yuji can agree with that. Even with things happening right now, that was still risky.
However, he sighed remaining silent about it. However, he did wonder about the others.
"Right now, Rodan is upset, and Zilla. I'm not sur.! But I do know he's somewhere around." Mothra stated. "Rodan has been ignoring my calls. Zilla as well. It's best believed that they might be affected by the glitch."
"I will try to call them..." She said, trying to get someone on the line. Maybe Daichi and Megumi, "I know Yuria, Nobara, and Hana are getting help from someone."
"Huh? Someone?" Yuji asked.
"Yes. Another woman is on the other line.." She said. "It's someone they met before."
"It's Akane." Kazuma added making Mothra's eyes lit up, "Akane! She's from the prize counter." Mothra stated.
"So Akane was able to help them out so that's good too! We know they are safe but I wonder if they are still moving." He asked but Mothra sighed.
"I'm sure they are after everything else. But we can try to contact whoever we can. You all can come with me to my safe green room. I have a computer monitor that should let us get a better view and hopefully contact your friends." she said.
"Really? That would be-"
"Ohhh no! How come we can't do it here!?" Kazuma said.
"Because the signal is being jammed out here. In my area we should be able to have a better chance of reaching someone." Mothra said trying to not scare Kazuma. After everything he's seen tonight can you blame him? Yuji would due to his behavior but he was also scared so that was another reason.
"Listen, we can try contacting the other two to hope they will answer me. They have to if I can try to just get through to them." she said. "Besides, we are wasting time talking when we could be trying to help them.." Mothra explains to Kazuma.

Last yearâs craze at StoĆŸice, summer festival performances, the Eurovision Song Contest, international success. And then everyone asks, what could be bigger, what could be better? But as the band Joker Out releases their new album, they consciously follow the motto "I want less". Singer Bojan CvjetiÄanin explains why: "This is our home, this is our base. If we donât feel good at home, we canât feel good anywhere. We need to rediscover love in our base, thatâs what we told ourselves."
With the song Bluza, youâre returning to love. Why?
We went through a lot. The songs we released after Eurovision dealt with the most acute situational changes in our livesâtouring, exhaustion, questioning ourselves. Now, itâs time to have a bit of fun again. And there's probably nothing more beautiful than being in love. (smiles)
Iâve been looking into peopleâs stories, into the lives of those around me, seeking beauty.
What did you discover?
That I enjoy writing about love the most. When you write from a place of uncertainty, itâs nice to get those feelings out; when you write about love, you search for timeless beats within yourself, not something thatâs only fleeting. I write about the ideals of love I held as a child, and in the future, Iâll see how these have either evolved or fallen apart.
It's best to write about love...
When you have a broken heart.
Your Eurovision song was more socially critical, though it might seem, at first glance, to be about joy. In it, you say: "We wonât take part in your games or your divisions." Did the songâs message reach people?
Undoubtedly. A lot has changed in a year and a half, not only personally but also in terms of our views of social issues. For the first time, we've connected with young people from abroad. It was fascinating to see how connected the fans from different countries became, encouraging each other, learning new languagesâeven a lot of Slovene. The desire for peace and unity is very strong at our concerts, so our messages have touched them. But of course, you can never reach everyone. (smiles)
You mention changed perspectives with regards to society. Have any ideals been shattered?
Many ideals have crumbled. In school, learning about war, it always seemed odd to me that the world could just go on at the same time, despite the ongoing disruption in the system. Now, I see that we have access to all the information, that we see and hear whatâs happening, that we witness an influx of people coming from regions where this is happening, yet everything literally carries on as usual.
War has become more of a trend on TikTok or Instagram than something people feel hurt about. This makes me very sad.
A lot of ideals that have shattered relate to the life of a musician. Weâve achieved things we could only have dreamed ofânot just as kids; even two years ago, whatâs happening now would have seemed impossible to me. But the ideal thatâs crumbled is this one: I donât always know how to appreciate what I have.
On tour, I often slipped into negative thoughts, didnât appreciate everything happening to us. This links to the idea that this kind of life is easy, that as a successful musician, you only have fun. This, of course, isnât true; itâs incredibly exhausting, both mentally and physically. I could go on until tomorrow, listing everything thatâs fallen apart, but fortunately, a lot of new things have also come to be.
Youâre the idols of generations; do you feel pressure because of that? After all, youâre still young guys tooâŠ
No. We already lost the childlike joy of music because we had to start working so much so early and get to know so many new systems. If we also take on the responsibility of raising generations of kids, we could truly fall into a black hole.
We need to be role models, but we canât shape our work around that. On the upcoming album, thereâs a song, 'Muzika za decu' ('Music for children'), which touches on this very point. We want to convey that weâre not addressing generations who think all younger people are lazy bums who only hinder the worldâs progress. Weâre addressing everyone who is young enough at heart to believe in a better world, a brighter tomorrow.

More and more musicians are stopping concerts at large venues when fans are in distress or overcrowding happens. You too?
Absolutely. This summer, we constantly stopped concerts if people were packed tightly indoors or out in the sun. We handed out a lot of water from the stage, and I even paused a concert if some listener (m.) was treating another listener (f.) disrespectfully. A concert is a safe space; thereâs no place there for infringing on the rights of others.
Thatâs an interesting topic I wanted to touch on anyway. So what is the rock ânâ roll world of the new generation like?
Itâs a lot better. Iâm glad weâre not a group of drugged-out dudes living only for today. Carpe Diem really means seize the day, but for us, that doesnât mean picking every fruit that exists in the world. Waking up healthy and energised, wanting to go to a concert, being open to meeting new people, our fans, being creative...
Thatâs what it means to seize the day. Sure, sometimes we go on a trip, we do have fun too. But Iâm glad that sex, drugs, and rock ânâ roll arenât our guiding principles in the band. When we watched the documentary about Mötley CrĂŒe, we saw how they started with heroin and opiates and ended with smoothies and fruit. Well, weâre already at the fruit and smoothies stage. (laughs)
âWeâre constantly building a relationship that gets deeper every day, even though it seems like it canât get any deeper,â you told me before the StoĆŸice concert, as I was stunned when you said you were going on holiday with the guys right after the concert. How much do you invest in relationships within the band? We know itâs sometimes challenging to nurture a relationship between two people, let alone five.
This is like a partnership with five people. Except for intimacy, all the other elements of partnership are there. Weâre companions. We often live together, work together; the dynamics are demanding. I talk a lot about this with fellow musicians. Recently, I was talking to Mr. Vlado Kreslin, and we concluded that being in a band requires a touch of madness.
Even if it ends somedayânothing is guaranteedâI know I have four lifelong friends. We exist as friends even beyond the band.
Success demands hard work; youâve told me before how sure you were of your path in the band, of your decisions, and how hard you worked to achieve what you have. And weâre back to the topic that some might say your generation isnât hardworking, that youâre quick to say what you wonât do at the work place...
The young people I know could hardly be described as not hardworking. Iâd rather say weâre diligent, and the drive to work comes from the strong pressure that you need to achieve a lot very quickly, or else you wonât make it in this world. As for them being quicker to say no... Maybe they know they canât live that way if something doesnât work. And to live is very costly.
Young people feel they donât have to stick rigidly to one profession, that they can change courses, jobs, and find something that suits them. Weâre far from the days when the son was a blacksmith because the father was a blacksmith, and the daughter stayed home as a housewife. But we also have to know that thereâs more and more uncertainty, precarious work.
If Gen Z is the way it is, I wouldnât attribute that to the generation itself but rather to the Boomer generation. Everything that makes life harder for us isnât the product of our ideas and actions. But itâs also true that sometimes, you need to stop, think, and make a decision. Iâd like to do something today, something different tomorrow, but thatâs not realistic. When youâre bombarded by choices from all ends, you have to make decisions. If there are three shirts in a store, Iâll pick one; if there are 250, I might end up buying sneakers instead. (laughs)
You performed at a concert aimed at contributing to the best possible care, treatment, and support for women with gynaecological cancer. You probably get invited to participate in quite a few charitable events; how do you choose them? This concert likely wasnât a hard choice, as both of your parents are doctors...
My father is a gynaecologist, my mother is a pediatrician, so naturally, when I got the invitation, I immediately thought my dad would be happy if I could perform there. Otherwise, I choose events based on two criteria: whether itâs something important and whether Iâm home at that time. I've often had to turn down an event I would have really liked to participate in simply because I wasnât here.
Life has taken you all over in recent years. What have your parents given you that has stayed with you and has been proven most useful today?
They gave me a sense of normality. I'm an ordinary person who takes everything in moderation. I didnât become a hedonist, nor did I give in to the patterns that the environment might impose. They gave me a strong sense of who I am and what I am, unconditional self-confidence, and self-respect. And the certainty that Iâm never alone in anything.
Recently, the dramaturg Nina Kuclar StikoviÄ and I talked about how Generation Z might be the first to actively work through its traumas, though she noted that taking on such responsibility across generations is a huge task. In the end, you might even feel worse. If you only become aware of your baggage but canât overcome it, it can feel even worse than if you had never been made aware of it at all, she said. What do you observe around you, in your own generation?
Mental health has never been as openly discussed as it is today. I know many people who go to therapy. Itâs actually strange that mental health was never treated before, that this stigma existed. If you have a cold, you stay home, you also heal a broken arm. Today's generations have managed to break free from these shackles. The individual is becoming increasingly more important.
People are working through the things in their minds. And this bothers many people from generations who suppressed everything and unleashed their traumas onto others. I often think how unfortunate it is that we donât practice everyday therapy in our surroundings. Everyone surely has someone whom they trust. We talk about all sorts of things, but we never ask each other how we are and share that honestly. Now, I do this with a few friends, and itâs really nice. I go to my friends for therapy. (smiles)
Nina also mentioned that patriarchy has wronged not only women but men too. Itâs unfair that men couldnât show emotions and always had to be strong. It always helps if you can share your feelings with someone. What do you think?
The Neanderthal perception of masculinity is passĂ©. We can all first tell ourselves, and then tell others, how we feel and whatâs going on in our heads.
This summer, you performed at festivals. Now you have a new album, and youâll be performing at various venues again, with tickets quickly selling out. It's a carousel that never stops. You mentioned earlier that you caught yourself maybe not appreciating it anymore. What do you do now to keep that from happening?
For the tour thatâs coming with the release of the new album, we consciously followed the motto, "I want less." Last year, we played in StoĆŸice, before that in KriĆŸanke. This year, we toured Europe, and everyone was asking us what big thing weâre preparing next. But we were only talking about how nice it would be to play at Ljubljana's CvetliÄarna again.
Pass by Maribor too, go a bit to the clubs in the Balkans, and thatâs it. This is our home; this is our base. If we donât feel good at home, we canât feel good anywhere. We told ourselves that we need to find love in our base again. Iâm glad we recognise this, that weâre not just banging our heads against a brick wall. The purpose of this tour is simply to enjoy it.
A few years ago, you told my colleague Robert Rebolj, my fellow journalist, and your fellow musician, that youâd like to have kids while still young. Yet you also say that you're in a period where several of your ideals have collapsed as you look at the world around you. Does the desire still remain?
When I said that, I was thinking Iâd have my first child between the ages of 28 and 30. Then Robert told me that having a child young doesnât necessarily mean that. (laughs) I see it now, too, as some of my friends already have children, and some even their second. My calendar no longer just has friendsâ birthdays, but, for instance, the first birthday of a friendâs child. (laughs) Yes, I think a lot about how this world is in many ways not what I imagined it would be, but I guess itâs always been that way throughout historyâthings have never been ideal. I think everyone, in every era, has felt the world is going to- hmmm, well, thatâs how it seems to me too. (laughs)
