they’ve made aegon seem like nothing but an idiot. aegon may not be as smart as aemond but oh my god he’s not some blubbering stupid idiot who can’t sit still. they cut out his whole reason for ascending the throne as well and that is so damning to his character. aegon takes the throne because criston and alicent place the worry of his siblings being slain in his mind. they convince him rhaenyra will kill him, his siblings, and his children— so he takes the throne. “what kind of brother steals his sisters birthright?” — AEGON TARGARYEN

they have reduced alicent to criston’s fling and vise versa for criston. alicent was a strong and compelling character— and now we have to watch her give herself a miscarriage? really? the woman who was so adamant about her son ascending the throne is sitting there and telling him to do nothing after saying he should be asking questions and learning from them???? “nothing” is the answer you give your son — the king — after he asks for your advice, alicent? really? it just proves she and everyone around her raised aegon to be a puppet— and she’s so lost inside her own “sins” she can’t even see how damned her children are because she doesn’t take the time to actually care for them.

they’re going to introduce daeron soon but show watchers have no idea who he is. when he shows up, it’s not going to be meaningful. just like when aegon started acting all loving and silly on screen with his kids and it left being people like “wow, what the fuck???” IF YOU DONT SHOW THE CHARACTER OR WRITE THEM CORRECTLY, PEOPLE WONT FEEL ATTACHED TO THEM CORRECTLY!!!!

even with rhaenyra. i love that she wants to uphold peace and i think it’s so valiant, but everyone is ready for rhaenyra the cruel. give us maegor with tits the way she is in the books and stop having her care so much for alicent. it’s killing her reign. the men in her council are harping her and her not being around during the start of a wartime is maddening to watch. yes, she’s a mother. yes, she wants peace. but peace can’t be achieved through Alicent!!! I loved their relationship in the younger years, but there is nothing to salvage and I’m so fucking happy jace snapped at her. she shouldn’t care for alicent at all— because alicent in F&B was her older step-mother that didn’t get along with her. even in HOTD after rhaenyra knows alicent usurped her throne over a miscommunication, there shouldn’t be anymore “but we were once friends” moments. idc if it was a mistake on alicent part— that mistake is something she isn’t even willing to admit or fix. in rhaenyra’s eyes, alicent should no longer mean anything from here on out.

rhaenyra is also no more a pillar of peace than aegon is. they both do terrible things whether or not it takes rhaenyra longer to start doing them. they both get people killed. they BOTH tear down the realm in attempt to grapple for the throne.

it’s fucking exhausting at this point watching the writers play a game of “this side is more morally righteous” when they’re all bad. it’s even more frustrating when the cost of “this side is better than this side” comes by destroying these characters and ruining the moments that define them!!!

rooks rest was a shit show. not only did they make aemond do something ENTIRELY out of character for him, they didn’t even give rhaenys her correct death. she doesn’t fall to her death. she gets burned like a true dragonrider.

My Thoughts about House of the Dragon 2x02

Poor Haelena. No one cares about her or is with her. They only care about the dead baby. She is a victim too.

Otto taking advantage of a dead child is just cruel. He is only about propaganda against Rhaenyra.

Alicent asking Haelena if she has seen her with cole was just, ist that your only concern right now? Your daughter has seen her child being murdered.

The procession was a bit much for my opinion. Haelena having a panic attack. She deserves better.

The whole Rhaenyra saying to Daemon that she cant trust him and never has is stupid. Why did she marry him then? She said herself that her claim is stronger with him and now it's suddenly not? I 'm sorry but i m on Daemons side in this. To be clear i dont support the dead of the child. But Daemon has never lied to her why would he now? I dont know what Rhaenyras goal is she has not taken action so far and voiced it. And tahat is getting on my nerves. She is sitting the whole episode on Dragonstone and does nothing significant. Sending Baela instead of Jace to patrol Kings Landing i have a bad feeling.

That Daemon left after this i can understand. It was time that he got out of there. He should have been in Harrenhall since ep 10. She is triving her strongest ally away. In the book most of the people stood behind her because of Daemon. And here they argue about Viserys. The hard truth is that Viserys named Rhaenyra heir to get rid of Daemon. He is right. She wasnt named because she was better suited for the job she was 14 at the time. And he kept her because he was feeling guilty because of what he did to her mother.

Daemons flight off in the sunset was beautiful filmed. But he could have said something to Baela.

Criston Cole is official the worst character in the whole series and that includes thrones to me. He should chocke when he speaks words like honor and dignity. And now he has all the power in hands. Cant wait to see it backfire.

Otto was always a character that i despised from the very beginning. I have always thought that i would enjoy it when he gets dismissed as hand. But he was actully very reasonable in that scene. I must give it to him that he always tried to avoid blodshed. Rhys Ifans is a very talented actor. His little laugh when Aegon said that that his father wanted him to be heir.

The Erryk Arryk scene was very sad. No wonder they sent Daemon away so quickly. If he had been there it wouldnt have happened. They missed the opurtunity for a great book quote here.

This could certainly be about Tyrion with regards to Jaime and Cersei, but something about it just says the Hound (and Arya) a bit more to me because of a line in the final stanza:  “You’ll never follow me.”   Plus, there is a reference to a “Stranger” in the song. The Hound’s horse was named “Stranger” and, of course, as was established (in my opinion) in the final season, the Hound=death and in the faith of the Seven, the Stranger represented death.

But I took that as more allegorical, the Hound being the killer who is ready to finally kill his family, i.e., his brother. Furthermore, Ray Manzarek said about this song that Morrison "was giving voice in a rock ‘n’ roll setting to the Oedipus complex" and the lines about the father and mother derive from that mythology and essentially boil down to one principle, you can't escape your fate.

Oedipus' father banishes him because he is told that Oedipus will kill him and sleep with his mother. Years later, Oedipus meets a beautiful woman, they fall into bed, Oedipus fathers catches them and lo and behold!, it's his wife... and Oedipus' mother but neither know that, because Oedipus' father banished him to avoid the prophecy. Oedipus and his father fight, and boom! Oedipus kills his father. Ergo, you can't escape your fate. So... does that apply to the Hound killing his brother or Tyrion and his siblings? Could be both. I just think it leans more towards the Hound.

Then we come to the end of the song and it is full of profanity after profanity, the Hound’s calling card before leading to death and then the bolded line that just scream the Hound to Arya.

On the other hand, if you take out the Stranger references and look at those specific references to brother, sister, father and how Tyrion had to let go of Jaime and Cersei and the Lannister of it all to move forward in many ways, it fits him best. Also, if you look at the line in the final stanza that is italicized that fits Tyrion with his brother *and* sister.

So honestly, I could go either way even if I do lean a bit more towards the Hound.

Girl From the North Country - Bob Dylan

Yes, I know there is a line in this song that references the girl's long hair lying past her breast, but regardless, everything else about this song just screams pre-season Gendry and Arya.  It totally, totally does. It just totally is Gendry pining for Arya. Nothing else makes sense. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!

I know that some have tried to fit it with Sansa and Tyrion, and I love them, but it just doesn't fit them. Sansa is in no way Tyrion’s true love, she just isn't. He hasn't been thinking of her throughout his time away from her. We know that. We absolutely know that. It does not fit them, sorry Sanrion fans (I’m one of them).

Now, if there is some time jump that we see in episode 06 before Arya goes to Gendry (because, yes, I'm still convinced that we are getting an Arya/Gendry endgame), then maybe this will apply to *that* timeframe, but as of now, I still see it as pre-season 08 Gendrya, just the feeling, the tenor and tone of it. Think of Gendry's line to her in the second episode:

With the references to a savior, a sacrifice, the water, the waves, the drowning and the sins, I think it's  clear that this is about Theon and his sacrifice for Bran. Especially when you take into account what the title of the song translate to: "The Fly's Savior," and Bran is, after all, the Three-Eyed Raven. The last stanza absolutely screams Theon (on sea, on land) trying to save the "flies" that die here and always trying to save himself until the end "someone has to sacrifice himself." Makes me a bit teary-eyed. Very beautiful.

Can't Stop The Bleeding - Tom Morello feat. Gary Clark Jr. and Gramatik

An interesting note is that this song was added *right before* the finale. I thought after I first heard it that it would be about Tyrion realizing that Dany was not the one to break the wheel and that he would do would do something drastic about it.  Yes, he made that realization, but quitting his job was not that drastic.

On the other hand... Jon's action in finding out that Daenerys was basically going to burn the world down if people didn't follow her vision, including his sisters? Well, that was pretty drastic. So I now believe this was about Jon and Jon realizing that no matter how much he loved her that he couldn't stop the bleeding of his heart, but he had to stop the bleeding of the world.

Tyrion was duped into believing that Daenerys was the Princess that was Promised, and I think he's going to something drastic about it.

And we all know that the Hound is not going to 'Let it be" so it's pretty clear that this is the Hound facing his deepest fear--diving headfirst into fire--at the same time finally getting his soul's desire and taking out his brother.

The pretty gross relationship between Euron and Cersei, and after episode 05, more specifically, the demise of Euron Greyjoy! (The crowd cheers!)

This one's about Theon.

I think this is about Sansa to Tyrion, using him to get to Dany.

"Playmate" as in someone who is playing the 'game' with her, and the final two lines, the two of them sharing their fears, their miseries, knowing what the other has been through.

They could work together, maybe even try marriage again, but both of them know it wouldn't last because there are too many ambitions and lusts and powerplays going on, not necessarily just within them but around them.

Sansa has become stronger and smarter, she's changed and it's been hard and it's still hard, but she likes it.

She recognizes his flaws, where she can manipulate him now because she learned from Cersei and Littlefinger, and she knows that it wasn't just his brains that got him this far, but he's had luck help him too. Of course, Tyrion is not a "hideous thing inside" and I don't believe that's how Sansa sees him, but this whole section is how she manipulated him, how she used him, because she did. It's about her being able to manipulate him as Cersei and Littlefinger taught her. The only truly hideous characters inside left this season were Euron and Cersei and none of the Starks would have interacted with them to fit this song; that was just one part of the song that was definitely metaphorical.

Writhing under your riding hood

I just think that the reference to "riding hood" was a key to this being about Sansa with the immediate jump to "red" from that phrase and Sansa's red hair.

The best I can make of this is that it's about Sansa getting through all that she has been through to be in control where she is and she's now determined that one person is not going to be in power of all of them, especially not the North.

I think this one is about Jon taking on Tyrion.

I think this may be about Jon and Tyrion trying to come to terms with what Dany is doing before they part ways on how to deal with her IF my speculation is correct that Tyrion winds up killing her to protect the realm. And then from that point on, things change between Jon and Tyrion. The next part of the song is more about Jon's feelings for Dany and how Tyrion is going to see the Wolf in Jon Snow.

Basically, this is saying that the choices you've made can be changed and you can take your hang-up (your devil) and cast it away, pin it down.

Arya is the love of Gendry's life, and she's no longer lying to herself, and one can take that second line in two ways. 1) as in his hopes grew, or 2) metaphorically, that when they lie together, she got pregnant.

“You seem...” that leaves it to open, the possibility of her coming back is not closed off. The "illusion" could refer to the title and castle.

OK, guys, this is it. I know I keep saying it, but yeah, Arya and Gendry? Are absolutely endgame. This song sounds absolutely like Arya deciding to give up her Stark-ways, being the killer with a list, etc. and joining Gendry. I mean, for reals! I'm just putting all the lyrics here bolding key phrases.

OK, now aside from the very, very obviousness of the fact that if you switch the genders--which, when a song THIS PERFECTLY ENCAPSULATES Arya and Gendry's story with references to wolves and packs and settling in a farm (forest lass), etc. one can not worry about the gender not matching perfectly--there's another very key thing one has to bear in mind. 

The song is called "Furr." That title clearly references the narrator (who in this case would be Arya) being a wolf. The group name is Blitzen Trapper. Blitzen is, of course, famously known as one of the reindeer who pulled Santa's sleigh. While science has now proven that all of Santa's reindeer were likely female as male reindeer shed their antlers in December, it is highly unlikely that when the tale was first told that such was known therefore we're going with the original conception that Blitzen is indeed male. And since Blitzen is known as a male reindeer, well, another name for a male deer is a... stag. So, not only does the song itself alone scream an Arya and Gendrya endgame (it really, really, REALLY does).

The group name + the song title + the meaning of the song = The Stag caught the Wolf with his love.

This song is really about nature being corrupted and capitalism taking over the world, so all I can really take from it is in relation to the endgame that it's Sansa and her opinion of Dany and how she thinks that she is a conqueror set on taking over Westeros by any means necessary.

Dany could recognize that beard everywhere.

At this point, she had subconsciously accepted him as a part of her frequent flight home. Like Starbucks cinnamon rolls, the long line for the ticket, and that nice flight attendant named Melisandre with the really impressive bun. The man with the beard had almost always been present in her flight to and from Chicago, a constant in her ever chaotic world.

She gulped, glancing at her ticket. Her seat was at 28A, and she wished now more than ever to not be seated next to him again, ever. Because strangely, they almost always got assigned in the seats next to each other.

First meeting, Dany did so much as batting an eye. The only thing filling her mind was home, mom’s delicious pies, the impending arrival of her brothers, and her kitten. She took pictures of the sky with her phone (a dazzling bright blue that day), thoroughly ignoring the man next to her.

The second time they were seated together, she exchanged an awkward eye-contact and a strained smile. Then, to avoid talking (nothing against him, really, Dany was just super awkward at making conversations in general) she put on her earphones. She caught him glancing several times at her when he thought she wasn’t looking, then she caught herself peeking at him when he seemed to be focused elsewhere. To swallow down the embarrassment, she took some more pictures of the sky (now pink-orange twilight).

The third flight, they exchanged a very, very short conversation, if you can call it one. Dany was sneakily trying to capture the grey clouds through the window, trying to not be so obvious and wake the Bearded Man sleeping next to her. Melisandre then came, strolling with the food trolley, asking what they would like to have for lunch. Dany, being closest to the narrow plane alley, spoke without a second thought, “Veggie for me and chicken for him.” Her eyes widen significantly and she clasped her free hand to her mouth, realizing how weird she sound. Sure, she’d observed him several times, how he seemed very cute with his beard and deep voice, how he always ordered chicken for food and how he always sleep with his mouth open but not emitting a sound. But to say it out loud?

Stupid Dany stupid Dany stupid Dany--

When she braced herself to glance, he was already awake, still kind of drowsy but no doubt catching her words. He was smiling, apparently amused. “Spot on,” he said to Melisandre with hoarse, post sleeping voice, but his eyes were fixed to Dany. She wanted to melt into a puddle of shame and never return to the plane again.

But here she was, right now, at another flight with him, sighing hopelessly when she got seated next to him at the fourth time. And what makes it more unbearable was that she got the alley seat, which meant she can’t photograph the sky to divert her mind.

You can do this Dany, only three hours, she chided herself as she pushed her belongings to the overhead cabin. He eyed her with interest, and when they made eye contact, Dany unconsciously blushed and dropped one of her bags.

Who could blame her, really? His eyes were gorgeous.

“Oh my God,” still, Dany was more than mortified. Her previously optimistic thought had taken a freefall to the negative. Less than a minute and you’re already embarrassing yourself, again. She mentally cursed herself as she grinned a sheepish smile, trying to grab the handbag as fast as possible to not prolong the shame creeping into her system.

Only, when she dove to take the fallen bag, she caught his hand instead. He smiled at her as he handed her belongings, and Dany gingerly accepted it. Her throat was dry with ultimate panic.

“Um,” she shifted at her stance, “thank you…?” Her statement sounded more like a question, and she inwardly cursed herself again. What was wrong with her today?

“Don’t mention it.” His deep voice got her, and she glanced up. He grinned, a set of perfectly lined teeth apparent to her. Dany’s mother was a dentist, so she could recognise that he had a healthy set of teeth, not like the commercial eerie white teeth instagram always seemed to advertise. Dany gulped, shifting again, unsure on what to do, until he pat the empty seat next to him, “aren’t you gonna sit down?” He asked.

“Oh!” Dany all but scrambled into her seat, “okay. I’m just--yeah, I should--” her words mesh together into a jumble of incoherent sentence. Mami always said that Dany was a very, very introverted child, and she felt the statement to her bones at the moment. “Thank you. Again.” She said, her hands clumsily gesturing gratitude. Then, before she could stop herself, she blurted, “You have very nice teeth.”

Really, Dany? Teeth? Fucking teeth?

Why can’t humans melt into the ground? She surely would like the feature. It could save her from a lot of embarrassment--like right now.

But instead of giving her a weird look, the man with the beard laughed--laughed!--and grinned once more. “I sure hope so, I floss a lot.” He said.

She blinked, unbelievably stunned that her stupid remark had gotten a very nice reply. And those eyes, they were just so mesmerizing… “My mom’s a dentist, so she taught me how to identify healthy teeth.” She replied, feeling like an idiot. Leave it to Daenerys Targaryen to be able to deliver profound argumentative speech at a room full of people, yet got impressively stuck at maintaining a conversation.

“Well, that’s nice of her,” he smiled, his body leaning a little bit closer. According to Viserys’ psychology books she had sneakily read, the gesture meant interest. “Are you going to follow her footsteps?”

“Beats me,” she blurted out her reply without even thinking through. “I mean, no.” She immediately corrected herself. “I dont have the patience to be any kind of doctor. I’m a freshman at Stanford, taking Law.” She added, wondering how was her major and campus relevant. But she continued anyway, “how about you?”

“Stanford, eh? Same.” He responded. “I’m a med student, though hopefully not for long.” He sighed, rather dramatically. “Those thick books are killing me.”

“My roommate said neurobiology is the worst,” She remembered Sansa and her never-ending complain about the misery of being a med student.

“Oh, she haven’t seen nothing yet.” He shook his head, “wait until you reach upper years, she would beg to take neurobiology any day, I promise you.” He raised an eyebrow as Dany chuckled. “Also, additional info, I don’t have this oh-so-called patience your mom possesses. My friends called me the Jumping Jon, because I’m always rushing everything.”

Jon. That was his name.

“Well, Jumping Jon, you look pretty calm to me now.” She teased him, surprised at her own brave remark. Slowly, she replaced the nickname ‘The Bearded Man’ in her memory with his rightful name. Jon, she thought, a somewhat fitting name for a man so charming.

“That’s because we’re in the economy class and I don’t even have the space to properly rest my legs.” He joked, and Dany laughed, again. “Wait until you see me out from this tiny place,...” He trailed, then his eyebrows narrowed. “Wait, I don’t know your name.”

Dany, caught off guard, quickly replied, “it’s Daenerys. Daenerys Targaryen. But people call me Dany.”

Jon blinked. “Wow,” he said, “That’s quite a mouthful.” Dany felt somewhat offended at the ominous remark, until Jon added, “But then again, I think it suits you, Daenerys.”

“Please, just Dany. Only my dad calls me my full name.” She shuddered at the thought of her father shouting her name at the school parking lot. He had a very weird taste in naming his children, and though Daenerys liked the way her name sounds, it also made her a sound target for kids to pick on her.

“Alright then, just Dany.” Jon teased her, and Dany blushed again. Something about this man is immensely captivating for her. “For what it’s worth, though, I think you fit better with your full name.” He smiled, a kind one Dany had never seen before. “Makes you unique.”

“You think so?” Dany unconsciously tucked her hair behind her ear. Jon’s smile widen and he nodded in affirmation.

The rest of the trip, they talked and talked about anything and everything; from Jon’s crazy professors to Dany’s undying love for her cats. She discovered that he was a model (“unwillingly,” he begrudgedly admitted, “the tuition isn’t going to pay itself,”) and he discovered that she was the winner of the World’s Debate Tournament last year (“Oh, that was you?! Should have known from the platinum hair…”)

When Melisandre and her fellow flight attendant, a redhead named Margaery, arrived with the food trolley, it was Jon’s turn to answer without a beat; “Dany here would like the veggies and chicken for me, please.” He said while winking at Dany. The response prompted thousands of butterflies dancing at the pit of Dany’s stomach, and she swore she could see Melisandre giddily smiling as she took out their orders.

They didn’t even realize that the hours had passed until the flight attendant announced that they would be landing soon, please fasten the seatbelt, thank you.

Dany didn’t think that her flight could be better, but then Jon leaned to his seat and said, “aren’t you going to take a picture?” He asked.

“What?”

And then she saw it, he blushed. Jon, the bravado med student who had entertained her with his wit and overconfidence, blushed at Dany when he realized what he had said. “Um, I mean,” he said, scratching his head, “you usually take pictures of the sky every flight…” He said, sheepishly.

“Oh,” Dany blinked. He had noticed? “Sure, I’ll just…” She whipped her phone, then captured the sky once more. The outcome was rather brilliant, a clear night sky with the moon and the north star. Combined with the framing of the window, this was her best shot of the sky so far.

But nothing, nothing beats the feeling when Jon sneaked a peek, then said, “wow, those are great.”

When she left the plane, the photo became her wallpaper.

She couldn’t wait for her next flight.

“I don’t care,” said Melisandre, “My ship just sailed, Margie!” She gushed, giddily. Margaery raised her eyebrow.

“You mean our ship?” Asked Margaery, challengingly. “The whole crew literally ships those two together, Lis.”

“Oh, this is wonderful news! I gotta tell everyone!” Melisandre beamed at her friend. Margaery shook her head.

“You’re deranged.”

“Every fangirl is. You’d be lying if you’re not happy.” Melisandre gave her a sly look, and Margaery couldn’t exactly oppose her statement. “Oh, and remind me to thank Tyrion later.”

At this, Margaery narrowed her eyes. “Why would you thank the website admin?”

“Why else would they be seated next to each other all the damn time, Margaery?”

oh it's definitely because daenerys doesn't fit into any of the categories that society has for females. she doesnt really know how to fight with a sword but she also doesn't depend on just others to survive so she's a warrior and shes not. you're absolutely right about this. I think what takes it even a step further is that dany doesn't even WANT to fit into any of those stereotypes and she's just her own person and whenever you try to force her into one category, you're going to have to cut off some essential parts of her to make her fit which is so incredibly uncomfortable for a lot of people and it's sad that most of the people on here that come into that group call themselves feminists.

as for the whole madness thing, yep, people always forget that dany had two parents and she didnt personally know either of them but still she's seen just as her father's daughter. well, if we're going by that logic, then jon is a targaryen bc his father was a targaryen and bc mothers dont apparently matter but yet those same people call him a stark and a targaryen. if he can be both, then why can dany have inherited something from her mother???

I genuinely will never understand the hatred someone would have to have inside them towards a fictional woman to have them say that the slavers and rapists deserve to live and have no consequences of their actions, you know the people that are very much exist in real life. their hate for a fictional character is more important that something that actually has negatively impacted so many people and the effects of which still exist to this day.

I absolutely agree with you on not being phased by all the violence or stuff, mostly because it's easy for me to separate reality from fiction. I loved all the battles and the gore and blood. it was fun to watch and yeah I loved when dany burned the khals or the slavers or the tarlys and i loved when jon executed the traitors (i kinda had mixed feelings on olly tho but that's another discussion) or when Tyrion killed his father and when arya killed that guy in essos and then the freys because FUCK YES they finally got what they deserved and I loved when sansa fed Ramsay to the hounds because fuck yeah he deserved that and I was glad that sansa got to watch her rapist die bc, as you said, a lot of women dont get to have that "closure" bc theres always that fear that what if he comes back and sansa probably has some trauma too but when she's awake, she knows he isnt coming back. I loved when sansa and arya killed littlefinger (I have issues with how they dumped everyone down and that whole storyline but that was "fuck yeah" moment too) anyways yeah, it's easy to cheer for everyone and yeah everyone has a fav character but baseless hatred towards dany pisses me off. what's worse is when they try to twist canon to fit their narrative of dany being a monster. and honestly nobody really needs a reason to hate a character. you dont like it? cool but trying to make that character into a cruel villian to justify your hatred ain't the way to go.

in the end, I think it comes down to hating that the fact the character they stan is not as important as dany is to the storyline so they try to bring her down in any way they can. and to be frank, nothing is going to change the way they feel and behave.

hey!!! just wanted to say that I love your meta regarding the hypocrisy between sansa and dany. and it's so exhausting to see dany being judged for her every action so much harder than any of the other characters. the other characters' "bad" actions are never really brought up again in the show but Dany's actions are consistently thrown in her face to remind her to not be like her father. it doesnt matter what she does, she'll be crucified for it either way by the writers and the antis alike :/

And yeah, it is really exhausting. You would think she wouldn't be the only female character to get hit so hard with all these double standards. Part of me wonders if it's bc she doesn't fit neatly into the tomboy/fighter or feminine/ladylike categories since she's still feminine but not exactly a warrior either. I could be just thinking too hard on it lol.

It especially upsets me when people try to use Targaryen “madness” as justification of their hate bc mental illness actually does run in my family (I could even tell you where I think it started!) and I find it kinda offensive that people who clearly don’t understand how mental illness works try to use that as a justifiable reason to hate a character. My mom was diagnosed Bipolar (she was textbook bipolar too) and I actually am at risk of having it bc I mean, my mom gave me half of her DNA! Just like Dany’s parents (haters seem to conveniently forget that she’s half Rhaella who wasn���t mad). And like, Aerys went mad after being tortured, not bc he was a Targaryen so not sure where they got the haters got their info lol. Only 6 Targaryens went mad iirc so again, where are they getting their info??? I already hate misogyny and ableism on their own but when both are obviously being used to hate on a character I get pretty mad!

And you're right, they’d hate Dany no matter what she did. I guess that’s the fun part of being a powerful woman AND a revolutionary in such a patriarchal world. It’s just so annoying. And it’s rather infuriating to see her haters defend slavers and rapists bc they hate her so much. I personally would have done much worse to the slavers and rapists. She didn’t do anything wrong, especially in her world. It would be super awesome if people would stop applying modern standards to a world in a medieval setting. I mean, people in our world have been executed for far less than all of the people Dany ever killed. Same for their world. I would have cheered her on even in our world lol.

I didn't care much when other characters did anything “bad” either. Murder on TV doesn’t bother me. I grew up watching my dad (and an ex Marine so you know he’s not exactly nice or uses nicer language lol) play games like Halo. Pretty much everything he enjoys is pretty graphic so seeing people get blown up or slaughtered like animals or burned alive by dragons really aren’t a big deal to me.

I really didn’t care when Tyrion used wildfire on Stannis’ fleet. I didn’t care that Cersei blew up the sept much though I did like Margaery! I didn’t care much about all the men getting sliced to bits in the Battle of the Bastards no matter what side they were on even though I do enjoy watching Jon kill people! I did enjoy watching Sansa feed Ramsay to his hungry doggies bc I mean, he deserved it and those pups deserved a good meal. I definitely enjoyed watching Arya kill the Freys bc that was just awesome. And I also enjoyed watching Dany and her dragons do anything together lol. Flying, burning enemies, awesome stuff bc I love dragons and obviously Dany. Me and my mom cheered like my Dad when he is watching football (American football) when Dany burned the Khals threatening to rape her bc that was a big girl power moment imo!

I just don't understand why it's so hard for people to not treat Dany like you would someone in our world? Especially when they dismiss anything to counter their “points” as a product of the times? It would be a lot easier on everyone if they would just straight up say they hate Dany and women like her and move on! Just be honest, ya know? Stop dancing around the truth already!

In the latest episode of Game of Thrones, Dany’s restless, Euron makes his move and Grey Worm becomes a man.

Well, it didn’t take long for Dany’s attitude to change.  She hasn’t been on Dragonstone that long and already she’s pissy.  She wants to take the Seven Kingdoms now.  But Tyrion and Varys want her to wait.  They know Cersei, her cunning and her strategic brain.  She won’t go down without a hell of a fight.  A storm is raging on Dragonstone and Dany is told she was born on a night like this one.  But Dany doesn’t want to hear all of that mess, instead, she wants to know where Varys’ loyalty lies.  She starts to ask questions, wanting to know why he constantly changed position when it came to the kings of Westeros.  Varys doesn’t mince words because he’s lived a cruel life, he knows what it’s like to be hungry, scared and alone.  “You wish to know where my true loyalties lie?  Not with any king or queen, but with the people.  The people who suffer under despots and prosper under just rule, the people whose hearts you aim to win.”  Yes!  Dany, wary of Varys but willing to work with him, tells him to swear that if she ever fails the people, that he will tell her to face and he does swear.  But then she tells him, “And I swear this.  If you ever betray me, I will burn you alive.  Varys ain’t no fool.  He answers, “I would expect nothing less from the mother of dragons.”  The two come to a truce, for now.

After, Dany is visited by Melisandre, recently kicked out of Winterfell by Jon Snow.  She tells Dany that she must summon the newly-crowned King in the North.  Tyrion hears the name and tells Dany that Jon is a good man and would definitely be a great ally.  Dany tells Halfman to send a raven to Jon summoning him to Dragonstone.  Oh yeah, and to “bend the knee.”  Umm, ok.

At Winterfell, Jon, Sansa and Davos are discussing the raven from Tyrion.  Sansa thinks it’s a trick but Jon knows the note is really from Tyrion thanks to the last line:  all dwarves are bastards in their father’s eyes.  Sensibly, Jon asks Sansa for her advice about Tyrion.  She tells him that Halfman is not like the rest of the Lannisters and was always good to her while she was in King’s Landing.  But she thinks it’s way too risky for Jon to meet with Dany and advises against it.  Davos agrees but also mentions that if the white walkers make it past the Wall, will they have enough men.  Jon has a decision to make and fast.

At King’s Landing, Cersei meets with the remaining bannermen of House Tyrell, including Samwell’s repulsive father.  The Queen tries to scare the men into fighting for the Crown, even throwing in a dig about the “foreign Dothrakis.”  Sounded a bit too much like real life, to be honest.  However, not everyone is convinced.  Sam’s dad steps up and says that Dany has three grown dragons, so how in the Mother are they gonna defeat them?  As always, Qyburn has a plan.  After the meeting, Jaime meets with Tarly to try and persuade him to fight for Cersei.  Tarly isn’t a sycophant, though.  The man was willing to kill his own son to preserve his name.  He won’t fight for House Lannister unless he knows it will be in the best interest of House Tarly.  So, what will the old bastard do?

Back at the Citadel, a frightened Sam stares at Jorah as he’s being examined.  The greyscale has covered most of his body, meaning it won’t be long before he loses his mind.  Sam mentions to the Archmaester that Princess Shireen (RIP, Princess), was cured of her greyscale.  But the Archmaester tells him it was because her affliction was caught right away.  No such luck for Jorah.  The Archmaester gave Jorah a day to figure out what he plans to do, but he can’t stay at the Citadel.  Sam asks Jorah if he should contact his family, and when he realizes that the sick man is a Mormont, Sam tries to find a cure instead.

Back at King’s Landing, Qyburn take Cersei down into the dungeons to show off his newest toy.  It’s a giant crossbow strong enough to kill Dany’s dragons.  He demonstrates its power by having Cersei shoot one of the giant arrows into the one of the dragon skulls, the largest one of the bunch.  The arrow goes straight through the skull, which spells trouble for House Targaryen.

Back at Dragonstone, Yara, Lady Olenna and Ellaria are trying to convince Dany to attack King’s Landing.  They don’t understand why she’s waiting around, but they soon find out.  Halfman tells the ladies that their armies will attack the capital, surrounding King’s Landing and trapping Cersei.  The women are pissed about that, thinking their armies will be doing all of the heavy lifting.  But then Tyrion reveals the kicker:  the Unsullied will attack his own family home, Casterly Rock.  The women are speechless, but think this plan is a good one.  They agree to it before Dany requests a meeting with Lady Olenna alone.  Dany tries to convince her that she will eventually bring peace to Westeros.  But Olenna knows much, much better.  She knows that Tyrion is a clever man, but so were many men she’s known over the years.  And she outlived them all by ignoring them.  “The lords of Westeros are sheep.  Are you a sheep? No.  You’re a dragon.  Be a dragon.”  The time will come when Dany will absolutely have to be a dragon.

Later that night, Missandei visits Grey Worm before he leaves for Casterly Rock.  The two have grown ever closer, but never made a move on each other.  But that all changed when Grey Worm explained that Missandei was his weakness.  He kisses her, but she stops him.  She stops him so she can take off her robes, then proceeds to undress Grey Worm.  But he doesn’t want her to see him, being a eunuch and all.  But she’s like, nah man, you’re leaving, we’re doing this.  They both get naked and Grey Worm is vulnerable for the first time since he was a boy.  Missandei takes him to the bed and they finally get intimate.  Grey Worm may not have a penis, but if you think that’s what you need to be intimate, you’re doing it wrong.  Here’s hoping GOT doesn’t fuck us all up by having Grey Worm die at Casterly Rock.  Cuz you know this show doesn’t care about our feelings!

Back at the Citadel, Sam sneaks into Jorah’s room so he can perform the cure for his greyscale, which is strictly forbidden.  He tells Mormont that the procedure is extremely painful (and positively nauseating to watch).  Not sure how he survived the ordeal, but here’s hoping it works and Jorah can return to his Khaleesi a new man.

Still on the road to King’s Landing, Arya meets up with her old friend Hot Pie, who’s culinary skills have only gotten better.  As she’s eating, Hot Pie wonders why she isn’t at Winterfell.  She’s like, “why would I go there since the Boltons have it?”  And he was like, “you haven’t heard?  Your brother fucked Ramsay up and took Winterfell back.  He’s there now.”  Arya is conflicted because she wants to kill Cersei but damn does she want to see her brother and go home again.  She leaves her friend and while outside, makes the decision to head back to Winterfell.  I’m not ready for that reunion!  I’m getting choked up just thinking about it!!

Back at Winterfell, Jon meets once again with his bannermen to tell them that he will be meeting with Dany after all.  The men are pissed and think he’s making a mistake.  Even Lady Lyanna told him to stay in the North.  But Jon tells them all that he’s seen the army of the dead with his own eyes.  The North will need as many allies as it can get to defeat it and the Night King.  Sansa (looking more and more like Cersei every day) tells him not to go, until he tells her that he’s leaving Winterfell for her to rule until he returns.  That shut her up, but she needs to watch out for Littlefinger.  This was the moment he was waiting for and don’t believe for a minute that he won’t try to take advantage.  Which he did immediately.

In the crypt, Jon is paying respects to his father when Littlefinger comes down to speak with him.  Lord Baelish starts talking about Ned and Caitlyn but Jon doesn’t want to hear it.  He starts to leave but when he brings up Sansa, Jon chokes him out.  He tells Lord Baelish that if he even talks to Sansa, he’ll kill him.  Jon lets him go (for now) and he and Davos leave for Dragonstone.  What will Littlefinger’s next move be now that Jon is away?

On the road, Arya is trying to get a fire going when she and her horse are surrounded by wolves.  They all look like they’re ready to attack when a giant direwolf comes up behind her.  Turns out it’s her own direwolf, Nymeria.  The wolf is HUGE and looks like it’s ready to tear her up, but when Arya talks to her, she recognizes her old friend and calms down.  Arya wants Nymeria to go with her to Winterfell, but the wolf turns and goes back into the woods.  Arya is devastated at first, but then she realizes that it’s been too long since Nymeria last saw her and she’s accustomed to being free.  “That’s not you,” she says, remembering when she said the same thing to Ned in Season 1 (so long ago!).

On the water, Theon, Yara and Ellaria are below deck having some drinks.  Ellaria and Yara are flirting relentlessly, with poor Theon feeling the loss of his prized possession.  The two ladies start making out when something crashes into the ship.  Yara grabs her sword and she and Theon go above deck to see their Uncle Euron’s armada on top of them.  Euron and his men attack and it’s all-out war.  The fighting is vicious, leaving everyone on board (including the Sand Snakes) dead and Yara captured.  Theon, who could have saved his sister, freezes in place, remembering the horrors he endured while under Ramsay’s control.  He jumps overboard, leaving his sister to be captured by Euron.  When the fighting is over, Theon is in the water, surveying the carnage that was left in Euron’s wake.

What will happen now that part of Dany’s army has been slaughtered?  How will Theon deal with the loss of his sister?  And will we be able to contain ourselves when Jon and Dany finally meet?
