Hi folks! It seems like people are discovering that there are people online who write some WEIRD! 👎 stuff for Nevermoor. Some tips and tricks for dealing with that:

Don't engage. Don't read the fics. Don't even comment to say how much you hate it.

Don't spread it around. It's gross as hell, I know! But being like "ew, guys, I found this gross fic" just means you're causing more people to seek out said gross fic, and that's just not great. If you don't want to see it, no one else wants to either.

If you can: block, mute, or filter. I don't really use any fanfic sites to know if these functionalities exist, but I'm sure people online have found ways. Edit: here's a way to do it on Ao3.

TL;DR: Ignore, Ignore, Ignore. 👍

(PS: Same thing goes for when people send weird inappropriate anon messages. Just delete them from your inbox and don't subject others to them.)

This is unfortunately something that's been present for years in the fandom, on both Ao3 and Wattpad. This is also why I essentially don't read Nevermoor fics unless they're for Mogtober, and even then I'm cautious. I have seen some weird stuff written about my favorite characters that I wish I could pluck from my brain and set on fire, or worse! But when I stumble across that stuff, I just quickly close the tab and pivot to something else to get my mind off of it.

We should not entertain these types of people in a fandom full of minors about a middle grade series, so: just don't engage with them, ignore them, filter them out, and maybe even drown them out with some fics of your own.

#alright we got the swedish guy who's married with kids and more of a buddy type anyway but he still initiates contact pretty frequently #that was oct '22. his bandmate was flirting with me but also has a gf and i missed the chance bc i thought i had to be loyal to my ex etc #we got the german guy from april '24 who gave me his number and begged me to stay but i left anyway and he asked me out the next day #i declined but he still stalks my social media and texted me a few months ago. the most obvious example among them all but no way with him #we got the other german guy in his late 30s (above is ~60) who admittedly didn't give me his fb first but he accepted my drunk friend req #we texted for a bit after the end of the tour and he also has a gf but he still invites me to his gigs in the middle of nowhere #and doxxed his workplace with an invitation to follow their page lmao #(will go see him as a surprise when i'm there more often in the next couple of years anyway)#and then we got my newest catch from nyc who i also left when it was fun and he gave me his number a week later #fb and insta mutuals too. again stalks my stories and likes them (even if he sometimes removed the like by the time i clicked on the notif)#genuinely think he's into me in a way yk but that's for another time. i've been getting so many signs from the universe it's crazy #anyway from the way his bandmate is also active on my socials and likes stuff i'm slowly worried lol 😭 his gf is hot pls stay with her #based on our interactions i couldn't promise they weren't both trying to flirt 💀😭 gotta let it marinate and check my diary entry #in conclusion this is really the secret ☝🏻 the ones with whom the convos faded didn't seem to keep me in mind for much longer #bonus points if they're tipsy tho last time they seemed pretty sober but the rest all had a couple of beers #them giving you their contact info is pretty much a safe sign they like you bc they don't just do that and 100% not their number trust me #you can't look desperate by giving them yours first even if you wanna 🙏🏻 you can follow them later or tag them in clips from the show etc #but don't directly go 'hey here's my number btw' while you're talking bc chances are they won't text you anyway #meanwhile if they give you their number they're anxious if you'll even text them and if they beg and ask you can be a little cocky #and don't go overboard and ask them directly bc you don't wanna sound like a creep and you're not pressuring them #this turned into a guide once again i'm sorry 😔 see what you did anon shfkfj #mel talks #the groupie chronicles

explored two new places thursday.

#three if you count last week too because I loved it there too all the water :’)#these others arent even that far away but I don't venture over there for some reason besides Natick because I have a spot I love there #actually garden in the woods is out that way also #but further up is Norfolk and I spent time there as a kid because my cousin I was close to lived there #we'd take her horse I was terrified of deep into the WOODS alone idk how I survived childhood but anyway hahah #I was so afraid of that damn horse pls horses are so scary #I have some stories that make me die now but one placed she lived was in the woods there #also my mom went into labor with me on the st gillette stadium is on drove by it #I lived over there temporarily and my dad ran up that entire highway to the restaurant her and my sister were at #lived all over but that’s always a cool story to me #not that we were both dying though my birth story was traumatic as f #the pure love of running full speed from inside the house up a highway like though idk I feel that love every time I drive by that spot #anyways way more wildlife out that way saw sooo many different animals bugs and birds #feels more wild and rural l was on the lookout for bears man #I'm a seaside coastal pretty trees that lead to sparkly water and ocean girlie #the woods kinda scares me I don’t go as deep as I did years ago #I love a hike to a body of water not just a hike into more woods I’ve seen too many movies #and men are weirdos I’ve had too many run ins #just wanna walk under trees and see shroomies and cool animals and know my cars within a safe distance lol #why my one spots perfect ocean meets woods is my thing or there’s gotta be a pond at least #love a marshhhhh too! happy to live where I do in the state has all the goodies #found this bog close by l was obsessed with its behind bass pro shop actually #was a nice two days though none of these mesh but it's okay they're tidbits I wanna save #didn't see otters this time but maybe next time #saw a muskrat though #and that one spot had so many snakes #pretty cool #the wasps however were not #mine

come to think of it another reason I'm biased towards nine might be because we never reach such beautiful casual queer vibes as the doctor + rose + jack situation again, at least not as far as I've watched. like I'm honestly not that much of a shipper but that kiss scene DOES things to me. and part of that is how loosely defined the relationship seems to be, at least maybe from jack's perspective. I can't rightly say it was wholly romantic in canon, but it sure was something - yes, rose flirted with jack way more than the doctor did when they first met, but the doctor even just being chill about jack kissing him feels significant - and I do love a quasi-romantic loosely-defined Something.
