Alexia Putellas x Child!Reader

Summary: You and Fluffles

It's not often that people come around to the house.

Most of the time, it's you and Mami.

But today it's you, Mami and some of her teammates.

Mami usually does team bonding at their houses when you're away with Abuela and Tia Alba but today she's been convinced to open the house to them.

They're as quiet as a group of football players can be, having been lectured by Alexia at training today about being respectful of your needs if they're going to be invading the house together.

It's after dinner that they arrive. It's late, not enough for you to be in bed but late enough for you to have already had your night time bath and be in your pyjamas.

You hide away most of the time in your bedroom, just drawing but you pop out occasionally to show Mami what you've created.

The living room is loud with chatter and the tv has been commandeered by Jana and Bruna to play FIFA while everyone else watches and yells out tactics to try to help.

You're sitting on Mami's lap when suddenly everything gets a bit overwhelming and your skin becomes itchy with unease. You go tense, locking up all of your muscles at once until you're frozen like a statue.

Mami notices instantly, slipping your ear defenders on and lightly tap you off her lap. "Go and get Fluffles, pequeñita," She says.

You shake your head, still completely stiff. You glance around the room at where the girls are still watching the screen.

"No one's going to judge you for needing Fluffles," Mami says," I think you're in need of some Fluffles cuddles."

You sniffle and reach for her hand, tugging on it so she comes with you.

"Alright, pequeñita," She says," Let's go and get Fluffles."

You tug out at the collar of your pyjama shirt. You don't like how to feels against your skin and Mami tugs it off you. The air is a bit colder now but it feels nice on your heated skin and you can finally relax when Mami heads into Fluffles' room and unlocks her cage.

Fluffles leaps out of her cage instantly, darting around the room briefly before she leaps into your waiting arms. Her little hands press against your shoulder as you push your face into her soft fur.

Mami got your Fluffles last year for your birthday and she was your favourite thing in the whole world. She was so soft and little and she always made you feel so much better when you held her.

"Do you want to stay in here?" Mami asks," Or should we go back to the living room?"

You think it over for a moment, content with just holding Fluffles against you as she grunts softly against you.

"I take Fluffles with me?"

"Of course," Mami says," I'll even warm you up some milk. Do you want to go back out to the others?"

You nod. "With Fluffles."

It's nosier in the lounge than in Fluffles' room but you've got your ear defenders and your Fluffles so things are getting better.

Mami returns you to your spot on her lap as she sits on the sofa again.

Fluffles rests against you as you take big, deep breaths like Mami taught you to.

"I told you it would be a good idea," Irene says to Alexia when she notices," Pets are always good for kids."

Alexia rolls her eyes. "Oh yes because you can definitely compare your dog and son with my daughter and her chinchilla."

Paredes shrugs. "But I was right. They're cute together."

"They're not cute together when Alba lets it free to roam around the house without permission. I've had to put wrappings around all the wires."

Paredes holds her hands up. "Hey, I said get another dog. You're the one that gave her the chinchilla."

"She loves it," Alexia replies," It helps with her issues. It's the fur I think. If she could take it everywhere with her, she would. I think she wants another one too."

Paredes laughs. "Good luck with that."

Fluffles shifts in your arms until she's buried in the crook of your elbow, falling asleep quickly as you hold her.

Your whole body relaxes as Fluffles does and Mami very gently moves your ear defenders to rest against your neck.

"Do you still want your milk, pequeñita?"

You nod and she very carefully sits you on the sofa while she goes off to the kitchen.

With Mami gone, it's just you and Fluffles and you give her lots of little kisses as she naps.

Keira slides in next to you and very carefully points at Fluffles. "Who's this?"

"Fluffles," You answer," Mami got me her for my birthday last year."

"That's nice. What kind of animal is she?"

"A chinchilla. She's very soft."

"That's nice," Keira says," Does she live in your room?"

You shake your head. "Lives in the spare room so she has lots of room to play."

"That's cool. Is she your best friend?"

You nod. "Her and Mami."

"Her and Mami what?" Mami asks as she returns.

"My best friends," You reply," You and Fluffles." You think for a moment. "And Teeny."

"You're so sweet, pequeñita," Mami coos, layering kisses over your face," You're my best friend too."

You're sat on her lap again quickly and Mami holds your sippy cup of warm milk for you to drink out of.

The noise of the rest of the team has quietened down now because someone's put on a movie to watch. It's an adult movie so it's pretty boring and once you're done with your milk, you shift to get more comfy on Mami's lap.

Her fingers card through your hair before gently drawing circles on your belly. It's nice and relaxing and Fluffles soft weight in your arms is just perfect.

"Alright you lot," Alexia says," Come on, out."

"Aw, Ale!" Mapi complains," Why?"

Alexia glances down at you. "Because my pequeñita needs to go to bed now. You just being here has tired her out!"

Mapi laughs. "See, Ingrid? I'm good at getting babies to sleep when it's late!"

Ingrid rolls her eyes. "Not a chance, Mapi! Teeny's bedtime is the perfect bedtime for her. I'm not changing it."

The girls all stream out promptly after that and Alexia is left to get you and Fluffles settled in bed. She returns Fluffles to her cage and lifts your limp body up into her arms.

She bypasses your bedroom entirely and tucks you nice and safe into her bed, sliding in next to you.

i took a pause making sister wives tiktok content after Garrison passed and have really only been making VERY half-assed Duggar stuff, since the Jana speculation was at least kind of interesting.

but now that's over and they're boring again, so I have two ideas for a video I'd actually be interested in making:

now people have made Jill Rod videos before don't get me wrong, even some bigger creators, but there definitely aren't as many people aware of her as any other fundie family that's talked about on TT and i feel like there's some serious shock potential there lol

but I also think people love to hate Robyn and don't really know much about her, so that could go over well too, esp since SW interest is picking up again.

It’s crazy though because it seems like the main thing that people like to shit on azzi for is basically like her lack of defense and her lack of aggressiveness when it comes to playing not to say that her defense was terrible, but definitely not up to par (some say) but one could assume it was due to all the injuries and her not fully trusting her body yet. But the fact that she barely even played tonight and she was still able to showcase how much she improved on defense was so much more to me and it seems like so much more to everyone else than her hitting a couple threes like I didn’t even care about that cause we already know azzi is like the top shooter so that’s not even a concern.like she was playing like someone who wasn’t injured out for a year. So I’ll take it. Would’ve been cool if she hit a 3 tho lowkey but im content lol

Kovo

“This liquid held the power to change . . . everything” (3). He really believes that, doesn’t he? Yikes.

“Feliandor’s father had been a good king, and Feliandor wanted to be a good king too” (4). This is pretty much the source of all his problems, isn’t it??? That’s really ironic.

“It wasn’t comfortable, but it was beautiful. And intimidating” (5). This throne feels like a symbol . . . it’s in The Book of Shane, as well.

“‘I want a solution right now’” (6). Fel’s impatient. Huh.

“‘A short-term solution, my king, merits only a short celebration’” (7). Okay, here’s the thing . . . Fel actually solves the problem? He stops them from fighting and keeps them happy? There’s not really a problem?

“‘That’s more than one hundred trees that weren’t there before . . . ’” (9). He’s definitely giving off desperate vibes.

“Fel stood silent, feeling his anger and disappointment like a physical force . . . he knew that he was blushing before the entire crowd” (10). Why is he so angry over some trees? I get that he wants to have forests or jungles, but can’t he focus on culture development or architecture or anything else to make him stand out, instead of something that’s already been proven to not work for his country?

“‘Good King Fel!’” Isn’t it The Good King Fel?

“‘ . . . now all that’s left is you’” (10). Oof. Also, how is this even mistaken for being Fel with that context?

“ . . . to reach the peak of Mount Crimson, tallest of the Red Mountains” (11). Is that Muttering Rock? The Red Mountains would be the mountain range, yes?

“‘Uh, my good man,’ Fel said so that everyone could hear, ‘you’ve clearly been through an ordeal. Let’s set you up with a bath and a hot meal. Salen here can schedule a time for us to talk’” (12). Oh, now he’s okay with Salen’s schedules. Also, he’s clearly putting on a show for the people. 

“‘Jace died by toad, Janas by bee. Marcus . . . Marcus by thirst ‘neath a lone pine tree’” (12). So the party only had four people???

“If Salen was surprised, he didn’t show it, only held Fel until he had composed himself once more” (13). This is so sad.

“The soldiers stood rigid and expressionless, so much so that Fel often failed to even think of them as people” (14). Foreshadowing?

“Stetriol’s decline wasn’t his fault; Fel, at least, knew this” (15). Hmmmm.

“That had changed when Nilo’s rulers cut a deal with the new Amayan government . . . ” (17). So Amaya was new during the First Devourer War? So it wasn’t new at all, then, during the Second Devourer War?

“‘Spirit animals manifest by the age of thirteen or not at all . . . ’” (19). Aidana bonded to Wikerus at fourteen. So . . . 

“‘And you are thirteen . . . ’” (19). He’s thirteen??? I guess that makes sense . . . 

Also, parallels? Gerathon kills a Niloan woman at the beginning of Fire and Ice, and while it couldn’t be this same Niloan woman (too old) . . . parallels?

Oh my god, non-modern political cartoons about Fel???

“‘Have him thrown into the dungeon until I say otherwise’” (22). Okay, but . . . they have no clue who this person is???

“He was fairly confident it was the same man who had held the post the night before” (22). Bruh.

“‘When your parents were killed’” (24). How did they die?

“How was it that even the animals of Stetriol were less impressive than those of other lands?” (26). Did he just call Australian animals unimpressive?

“ . . . and downed the contents of the vial” (27). So he just looked at the cassowary and that’s all it takes to “choose” an animal for the Bile?

“‘That’s because the bird is not your partner, Jorick.’ Feliandor’s smile widened. ‘It is your slave’” (28). That made Fel happy??? This guy is crazy.

“‘Jorick, what’s wrong with you? Guards! Get a healer in here immediately’” (30). Okay, so he does have a speck of redemption in him.

“‘It felt as if I wasn’t in control of my own body’” (30). Gerathon, why?

“‘Take him to the dungeon,’ . . . ‘With the rest of the traitors’” (31). He changed his mind about Salen so quickly???

“There was a flatness to his voice, and an odd quality to his eyes that Feliandor couldn’t remember seeing before” (32). Gerathon literally can’t wait to get her hands all over the Bile victims, can she?

“‘By my count that makes you the rarer and more precious of us two’” (33). Kovo is so good with the manipulation and the flattery.

“Fel . . . cast about for a moment, looking for props” (34). Why the heck does he need props??? So dramatic. *shakes head*

“‘They’re saying “the good king fell.” My father, the good king, is gone. And now they’re stuck with me.’ . . . ‘I try so hard,’ he seethed, ‘and I am hated for trying. Hated for the sin of not being my father’” (35). I actually feel bad for him now . . . he’s still a shit king, though.

“‘Chimpanzees use tools to accomplish tasks . . . ’” (37). The Book of Shane parallels?

“Somehow Kovo’s human qualities made his inhumanity all the more striking” (38). The brighter the light, the darker the shadow.

“Feliandor wasn’t in control - had not been in control in a long, long time. The Bile was the first step toward . . . ” (39). Becoming a slave? Because that’s what’s gonna happen-

The screaming trees came from Gerathon???

Fel goes crazy about two seconds after taking the Bile. Hm.

Jhi

I do not remember a thing from this chapter, damn.

“Luan was too selfish to be afraid for Yu . . . ” (45). She has a weird relationship with her spirit animal . . .

“She was leaving Yin out of the conversation, denying her the truth” (49). Isn’t she a teenager???

“Yin didn’t care that she was breaking Kuan’s rules. She needed to know if her brother would be okay” (50). Can’t she just go right up to the curtain instead? That would be more subtle.

“ . . . the Healthbringer lives in the Great Bamboo Maze . . . ” (51). See? Jhi did live in the Maze. Shouldn’t she have known the way out during Blood Ties? Maybe her memory was impacted???

Yin and Luan’s bond kind of reminds me of Meilin and Jhi’s. Parallels?

“‘Do you ever wish you were without me?’” (56). More Meilin and Jhi parallels.

Wait, she goes back to Kuan??? I thought she goes to find Jhi???

Ohhhhh, damn. He got worse.

 Wait, if she carries her brother, won’t she get sick, too?

“‘This is where we are. I’m certain’” (63). Wait, let me guess. She’s looking at an out-of-date map, and Luan, being a bird, knows where to actually go. This entire chapter is one long Meilin-Jhi parallel.

Yep, I was right. Luan was apparently fixing the map.

“The Maze is changing, she thought” (64). Or being destroyed.

This chapter feels hastily written. Like, I don’t know how to describe it, and I get that the story needs to fit within the chapter, but it feels so rushed? 

I think it would’ve been better to cut the healer plot line completely and instead focus on the trip through the Maze. Yin could’ve recalled legends she’d heard about Jhi and the Maze and worked off of blind hope instead.

“The two brightest shone like silver eyes in a dark face, listening to Yin’s prayer” (66). A well-written line, for sure.

Okay, Yin is actually smart. Following the patches where Jhi had eaten? Actually a solid plan.

“‘What would I do without you?’” (71). Yin’s inconsistent feelings about Luan are just like Meilin’s about Jhi.

“It was a bird spider, a tarantula” (71) A bird spider?

Yin got turned into a slave??? What???

“Suddenly Yin felt like she understood everything around her” (76). Jhi’s powers?

“It was as if the night had slowed down around her” (76). There’s no way that’s not Jhi.

“The woman feinted left, and as Jhi lifted herself up to follow, the tarantula leaped up and snatched the carved green talisman” (78). Why didn’t Jhi just put Nao and the spider to sleep??? She could’ve???

So the “silver stars” Yin saw were literally Jhi’s eyes??? What???

“ . . . she had wielded the mighty Sword of Tang . . . ” (81). How’d she get it back??? What did she do???

Uraza

“Waddling across her lands with their ungainly two-legged walk” (85). Uraza’s thoughts about humans are fucking hilarious.

“Who did they think she was? . . . One of their precious spirit animals, to be forced into a life of cohabitation with them?” (86). Hmmmmm.

“She snarled, using a single claw to draw a cut across his chest. ‘Go,’ she rumbled at the pathetic man” (87). This whole sequence is strangely comedic. The drama of just swiping one single claw across in an ultimately useless way just to be threatening is just-

 “And there was another smell with them - something sour and unnatural” (88). Bile. Also, Uraza can sense the Bile, confirmed. I suspected that all Great Beasts could, but so far the only ones that have been confirmed are Uraza and Mulop.

“The massive leopard knew what that must have meant for the boy’s tribe” (90). How does she know about human customs??? I thought she only cared about them staying out of her hunting grounds?

“ . . . they were immune to poison and sickness” (92). Huh. That’s interesting.

“ . . . the black substance coating its blade rubbed into the wound” (93). Genuinely have no clue what this substance is. It can’t be Bile, so what is it?

“She knew that a Great Beast’s body would adapt to this substance, but it would take time” (94). She??? Just said??? That Great Beasts were immune to poison??? What’s this about adaptation now?

“Uraza drifted back to consciousness slowly as her body healed itself” (95). What is this plot hole? Is she immune to poison or not? Are we getting an explanation?

“The impertinence of this woman was shocking” (95). Um, she does have Uraza in a literal cage, though, so . . .

“‘They curse you as much as they curse me, if not more . . . ’” (96). Yeah, Uraza isn’t seeming too hot right now.

“Some looked at her with disappointment, some with despair, and some with contempt. Others simply looked past her, eyes dead and defeated” (97). Yeah, honestly Uraza as a morally gray character is pretty interesting.

“She admired his bravery, but he had the dumb loyalty of a dog, not the cunning of a cat” (98). I badly want to hear Great Beast Uraza’s thoughts on Briggan.

“For a moment, she considered simply swallowing the insolent monkey whole . . . ” (100). For realsies???

“‘So no one knows it’s buried in the Red Orchard?’” (102). Why doesn’t she just keep her talisman with her???

“ . . . they still would have no guarantee of catching up to the talisman” (104). Can’t Uraza, like, smell her talisman?

It’s funny how the Greencloaks were originally sabotages and thieves, and Rollan, the last of the four to join the Greencloaks, was also (kind of) a thief.

“ . . . now a whole crowd of the smelly things surrounded her” (112). I genuinely wonder whether Uraza thinks Abeke is smelly.

“Uraza was stunned - the ability to control exactly where a spirit animal appeared was not something she had ever heard of” (116). Oh my god, Abeke does this in the last book. Foreshadowing?

“‘Hold tight,’ Uraza commanded. ‘And if you tell anyone about this, I’ll eat you and your monkey both’” (118). Tembo: *literally tells the whole world in his journal records that he rode on Uraza’s back*

“ . . . the news that some of her fellows were helping these plunderers deeply troubled her” (120). Well, Kovo does have other motives.

Briggan

“The resistance called him what he truly was: the Devourer” (126). So the name “the Devourer” came after “the Reptile King”? Hm.

“ . . . she saw that it was a tiny bat - a vampire bat - and it had a distinctly malevolent look in its beady eyes” (129). Okay, definitely a Bile-bonded creature, then.

“It might be a Conqueror’s spirit animal, but even so, she couldn’t bring herself to kill it” (130). She’s going to have to be killing a lot of things during the war, so . . . 

“ . . . so he’d retrieved his bat and put the creature into its passive form” (131). This wording is so strange, but it's pretty much exactly how the Bile works, anyway.

“The river tumbled them over and over, like dice in a cupped palm” (132). This is such a neat line. 

“People even claimed that Briggan could bring visions. Glimpses of the future. Well, that’s not what she was getting, Katalin thought crankily” (134). Briggan can bring any kind of vision, right? Not just past ones?

“Sometimes it did bother her that her spirit animal was so fiercely independent” (136). Like Essix and Rollan. Parallels?

“Then she caught sight of something - a small hut” (137). Why didn’t the Great Pack warn the hut’s owner to stay away, though?

“‘I came out here to get away from people . . .’” (141). Why didn’t Briggan warn her away???

“ . . . a girl with no home, no family, no best friend” (144). What happened to her best friend???

“There was something eerie about the way it obeyed her. Something very different from the loyalty Tero showed her” (148). So it’s possible to tell if someone’s taken Bile?

“‘It’ll be a message to all the Great Beasts, that they better not mess with us!’” (148). This guy is giving new-recruit-that’s-drowning-in-an-oversized-uniform-and-an-oversized-helmet energy.

“‘I heard what you did, that you rescued him from a destiny worse than death, from a terrible bondage . . . ’” (156). Briggan knows what Bile is??? Huh.

So the dreams are Katalin’s possible path or what’ll happen if she doesn’t act??? This is kind of a roundabout way to do that-

“‘I will form them into an army. The Greencloaks’” (158). Briggan created the Greencloaks??? Wow.

Wait . . . wasn't Conor the first of the four to join the Greencloaks? Parallels???

Essix

“ . . . the four embattled nations of Erdas had united in a desperate offensive against the Conquerors” (162). Are they in Stetriol?

“The warriors who had followed her to Stetriol . . . ” (162). Okay, so the First Devourer War also ended in Stetriol??? Wow.

“Only Tellun could have created such an idyllic forest on so harsh a continent in such a brief time” (163). We still do not know the scope of Tellun’s powers, or even a basic understanding of what the guy can do. 

I love the way the Beasts bicker in this chapter. It’s just too funny.

“ . . . Dinesh, who looked more like a wrinkly gray hill than an elephant” (164). Woah, Essix, that is some comparison.

“‘New bonds are forming, but they are twisted and painful . . . ’” (166). Bonding sickness started during the war??? Really???

“‘Envision a vast colony of ants bringing down an ox. This would be our fate’” (168). Kind of headcanon Jhi to be someone that constantly talks in metaphors to the point where it becomes almost impressive that she can continue on like that.

“‘Dinesh, I’m more interested in the opinions of Great Beasts who can find their own food’” (169). Uraza lowkey reminds me of Rollan??? 

“‘Take that back this instant, or I, or I-’ ‘Will waddle out from under your canopy into the sunlight?’” (169). Uraza, you’re supposed to be convincing him.

“‘I miss Kovo,’ Suka said. ‘He told the best jokes’” (170). Excuse me???

“‘Don’t worry, Dinesh. I love that you domesticate them!’” (172). Ironic as heck.

“‘Nobody . . . likes me?’ Rumfuss exclaimed in surprise. ‘You have few charms,’ Cabaro said silkily. ‘Nonsense!’ Rumfuss shouted. ‘I am . . . the best!’” (173). I kind of feel bad for him, but insisting he’s the best makes him seem even more pathetic.

“‘Animals taken by the Bile lose their free will . . . ’” (174). Ironic that Jhi is the one that says this.

“‘ . . . I fear it will end in darkness.’ Rumfuss laughed brashly. ‘All days . . . end in darkness’” (178). Wow. What a line. Doesn’t really seem like something Rumfuss would say, though. More like . . . Cabaro, maybe?

“‘Mulop, you see more than you understand. Cabaro, you are a devastating waste of potential. I once mistook your pelt for golden, but it's clearly yellow.’ . . . ‘Halawir,’ Essix continued. ‘You have all the manners of royalty, and none of the substance . . . Suka, hiding from tough choices is a choice; and Rumfuss, never changing means never improving. Arax, how can you demand freedom for yourself but not for those in your care? Dinesh, don’t let your greatness be only a matter of size. Tellun . . . ’ . . . ‘I respect you, but I do not understand you. I fear you are too distant.’ . . . ‘I believe that Ninani does her best’” (180). Wow, Essix just roasted all the Great Beasts except Kovo, Greathon, the other Fallen, and Ninani. She really does go out with a bang.

Wait. How did Essix lose her talisman? It’s never mentioned . . . 

“Briggan’s jaws found the arm with the club” (183). The Evertree ending parallels?

I forgot that Kovo literally kills Briggan . . . like he literally cuts his throat open . . . 

“High above, a speck circled, almost at the limit of Essix’s sharp vision. Halawir?” (185). Yeah, what’s Halawir doing there?

“ . . . Essix discovered that Jhi, Briggan, and Uraza were already gone” (186). Oh no. That’s actually so sad.

“Time lost all meaning . . . there was a light” (186). Do spirit animals live in a void until they’re called or something?

Essix’s first thought about Rollan was “Interesting” (186). 

Final thoughts and rating (these ones are even longer than usual . . . sorry about that): 

In terms of ranking, I think I liked Essix’s chapter the best. Despite its flaws (mostly the lack of background: Why did Essix join? How did she lose her talisman?), it was done really well. You really get a good understanding of the relationships between the Great Beasts. I like that Uraza’s personality (and the personality of the others in general) were really displayed well. I’d say that Uraza’s chapter was the second best. It was written well, and Tembo’s personality really highlighted the story. The beginning of the Greencloaks was explained flawlessly, in my opinion, and despite the few plot holes (the poison thing), I like the short character development Uraza goes through. My third favorite was definitely Fel’s chapter. The parallels to Shane and the order of events was explained well, and I think it gave a good introduction to the setting, which is slightly different from the setting of the story during the main series. Fel’s feelings are shown well, which gives the story a better backbone.

My second-to-least favorite was Katalin’s chapter. Despite the backstory, I found it to be quite boring, almost? It was in an adventure/quest format, and personally I find that to be more suited to a full novel, not a short story. Besides Fel’s chapter, I found the narration from a human’s perspective to be really annoying. I thought that it would’ve been better to see this chapter from Briggan’s perspective. It’s established pretty early on that Katalin knew that the wolves knew she was there. The story could’ve been Briggan’s mental struggle about whether or not he wanted to join the fight against the Devourer. They also could’ve better developed his personality, as well. They story could’ve also followed Briggan following Katalin and slowly coming to recognize her bravery. I also think that the format of human-with–spirit-animal-goes-on-a-quest is very tired in this series and any deviation would’ve been welcome. Briggan’s ability to connect with someone through dreams would’ve also given us an insight into Katalin’s background, as well. My least favorite story in this collection was Yin’s. I found it to essentially have the same problems as Katalin’s story, but more so because of the rushedness of the pacing. I mentioned this already, but the whole storyline of Yin stealing the Sword of Tang to get the medicine that didn’t work was completely unnecessary, and even created some unanswered questions (How did Yin finally get the Sword of Tang back?). Instead, I think they should’ve just cut that entirely and have Yin work off of legends and myths she’d heard about Jhi and go straight into the Maze. This would give the story more time to breathe and make it feel less rushed. But better than that would’ve been, in my opinion, to have the story told completely from Jhi’s perspective. This would’ve fleshed out Jhi’s hatred for the Bile even more and given a new depth to her situation in the main series. Also, it’s mentioned that Jhi was following Yin the whole time, as well. So many of the plot points would remain the same.

Soooo it's gonna be messy because I'm still reeling from 24 hours without sleep and then 4 hours of sleep during the day and I'm not very good at processing what happened aldkfj

First of all I'm so happy and thankful for all the people who I met up with. They are the best and I had the an absolute blast. I don't know if it's a phannie specific occurrence when you meet people from the internet but we were all on so very similar wave lengths and we talked for hours about fascinating topics and of course dnp. I felt so safe with them and I could talk about basically everything. So thank you so much Kate, Katie, Magda, Jana and Jo <333 you are the best

About the show on its own .. hmm it was definitely a budget version. I'm so sad we didn't get the rainbow lights, the eclipse light and the cubes :( The venue looks godawful from the outside, and you have ultrasound and tile shop in the same building but the inside was quite hipstery and not as bad. Very postcommunistic tho. Also the church, cemetery and closed mall just outside gave very specific vibe to it aksjdjhf I got the cheapest ticket so I didn't have meetngreet but it still felt surreal to be in the same room as Dan. I sat quite far to the back but at the isle so I had not the worst view. Seeing him on stage didn't feel real, I felt like I was watching a video with a room full of rowdy queers. And even if in Poland we weren't really meeting new people and mingling socially amongst the separate groups, sitting in the audience still felt like being a part of some bigger thing. What irritated me were the bar lights that were on the whole duration of the show and kinda ruined the immersion. Also I was cold. About the show's content: wow Dan sings really good, I loved looking at him enjoying himself so much on the stage, this really was his passion project and I felt like he did it mostly for himself but also wanted to give us a good message too. I think I enjoyed the most the part with sending to hell jk rowling, jeff bezos and putin (the scream for him was the loudest :')) and sparing tony the tiger because tigers and endangered. Polish specific madlips were also very good. Bubbles? It was weird hearing it in zloties. And my friends in the front row get soaked. Also daaan we don't have student's depts here?? The unis are free. As a lot of people said before he was really careful about the communist part because he underlined that NOT like soviet russia but like Denmark he said I think? I was very focused on every word he said and was listening to him carefully but I don't remember that. In the calendar part, I'm so happy they have their take away fries days on saturdays 🥹 the time he most constantly feel the most content... And the most important part.. the monologue at the end. The second part of the show was shorter, wasn't it? Because it ended so fast for me. I didn't cry because I'm absolutely emotionally disconnected and can't feel much of anything. But I love him so much. I was looking at him and trying really hard to telepathically convey to him how much he is loved here. The hopeful message is so important to me. It gets better. And we can help someone. We should reach out. We can't give up because even my stupid reblogging of some posts might be the one thing that saves someone. Very interesting to think about virtue signaling in this context as he was saying. I loved when people started cheering after he said he's gay and he was like wow took you so long of the show to realise this akdjdbbfjf and yeah I loved the gay jokes and him smacking his butt multiple times. I was wondering how many people were there randomly because something gay was happening and how many people only vaguely knew who he was and watched him only a bit in the past. Because there was so many references and when he shows bits of his old videos? I wonder what thoughts they had. And the worst part is that he fucking sneaked out so fast before we left the building :((( we waited for him after because we didn't believe when someone said to us that he left already. And I had the train back at 4 am so I didn't have much else to do. Absolutely don't recommend warszawa centralna train station during the night. I'm so glad I wasn't alone. Dan also said fuck Warsaw I don't want to spend any additional minute here bye. Hope he has fun in Helsinki.

Overall I'm proud of myself that I did go even if I'm often scared to leave my house at all. Warsaw show felt a bit like a bastard show added later on with very cut expanses. But I'm glad he went here and I'm so happy I saw him. Hopefully I don't fali my exam because of it

Because of where Tabitha's tattoo is, she was able to handle and deal with pain with not many issues, perhaps with the colour and shading later she might have felt some pain but otherwise, shes calm. She is content enough to talk to the artist whilst they work. She'll bring snacks, water and her phone.

No. Definitely not her face, not only is she wanting to steer away from that level of pain she has an image to maintain.

so some things you need to know about me first:

1. my obsession with pretty boys (and people in general) extends far beyond me crying about them on tumblr (which I do quite frequently). ergo pretty boys tend to pop up on my instagram feed as fashion influencers, dancers, singers, pottery artists (this is a very large niche apparently?) and most frequently: gym goers.

2. now another thing you need to know about me: i DO NOT gym. beyond not being even remotely interested in it, I also have a myriad of joint problems (shoutout jana (@disappearsreappears ) for being metaphorical cane-babes together) and therefore going to the gym and doing cool gym stuff is not really an option for me. so naturally I don’t actively engage in gym content for gym related purposes, in any aspect of my life

3. but nonetheless because I love pretty boys, and THEY love gym, I get a lot of gym content on my Instagram.

4. another thing you need to know: I spend a clinically distressing amount of time on instagram. like if you think I waste away on tumblr, instags is at least twice as bad :/

5. that means I get through A Lot of content in one day. but, while I’m pretty liberal about what content I watch and engage in, I’m quite strict about who I follow. instagram is a nightmare of suggestions and recommendations in the home feed, the explore page, and the reels so the small amount of curation I actually can do, I keep under strict lockdown.

6. therefore despite having lots of fun seeing pretty boys in my reels and smiling ridiculously at the screen as they attempt to hit personal gym records for weird shit like russian deadlifts and bulgarian split squats, I don’t just follow every pretty human i see.

7. in fact, unless I really really like your videos (/content) and they surpass my usual serotonin boost I don’t care how many times you come up in my feed I probably won’t follow you.

8. one more thing about me: I have two instagram accounts — one I created in 2013 and has been on private and will continue to be on private since then (it’s my main Instagram where I follow all my people from). and the other I started in 2021 to post more of my chaos things > that one is public and full of nonsense and I don’t follow anyone from there cause I use it purely as an memory book of sorts (it’s linked on all my tumbles so I’m not linking here but the important thing is that it’s public so anyone can see what I post < that’s important for later)

but I didn’t follow him (see above) I just liked the reel and moved on. but (for those who managed to avoid the instags hellscape) interacting once with something on there will most definitely prompt an entire slew of that account’s (and other accounts like it) content. so over the next few days I got a couple more scott related gym videos.

usually I take about a month or more to follow someone if I keep seeing their content and like it. it took me two days to follow him😫I saw an arm workout, a leg workout, and my absolute weakness, a back workout

and that marks the day I started looking forward to see his content on my feed (clinically down bad at this point)

he then posted this video dancing to that adorable “sure thing” trend (“if you be the cash I’ll be the rubber band etc etc.”) and I melted straight into the earth’s core and immediately saved that video to my instags. I also went through the effort of reposting that video on my public instagram account purely so he would be able to see it! and he did! and he liked my story and I cried about THAT for about eighty five days

fast forward to me screaming shaking crying throwing up about him on a daily basis and telling my friend in LA she has to pack him in her suitcase when she’s coming back because I. NEED. HIM!!!! (she said she would but she also has my soju glasses and frankly those are still more important no matter how much I love him)

AND THEN: (cause no this is not over — I told you you opened the doors to hell)

he posted this video showing what he looked like before his workout (muscles less defined, skin not as flushed, so so gorgeous) and after (muscles more defined, skin a pretty pink, the most beautiful ever!). and the caption for the video was “before the pump and after the pump // can you tell the difference?”

and me (who is delusional but also forward as hell) commented: “pretty before, pretty after ✨” which he then responded to with “ur pretty during”.

JAE I DIED????!!!!!! HOW DARE HE DO THAT TO ME????? I FUCKING PASSED OUT!!!!!!

(and yes I know he was just being smooth with it and he defs has zero idea what I look like and he responds to lots of comments etc. etc. but love is delusional and I’m obsessed so I will continue to live in fantasy world)

anyway that comment (and his reply) got some attention (I’m still getting notifications about it which is extremely annoying does anyone know how to stop them?).

alas after this he posted a video where he and another influencer did a skit where they pretended to bump into each other by accident. it was very cute and I cried about it because the love of my life is in love with someone else what am I gonna do I can’t believe this😔😔😔😔I was in heartbreak central.

BUT after that I found out he played basketball (which is my favourite sport to watch) and I was back to WANTING TO MARRY HIM!

and then he posted a video showing his overnight oats recipe which I then reposted on stories with the caption “two meals in this video” which he saw and liked (when you’re in love those little instagram floating hearts really be giving you all the chemicals you need) (really at this point I’m just surprised my mother hasn’t called asking why I’m publicly thirsting over someone?)

Czech Republic continues to negotiate possible purchase of F-35 fighters

From April 3 to 6, 2023, under the leadership of Blanka Cupáková, senior director of the economic section of the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, new negotiations on the conditions for the possible acquisition of 24 F-35 aircraft took place in the United States.

The negotiations covered all aspects of the potential acquisition and took place both in Washington, where the interested government agencies (including DSCA and JPO) are based, and at Lockheed Martin's headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.

In the first part of the work trip, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Czech Republic discussed with representatives of the company Lockheed Martin the proposals for industrial cooperation projects that the manufacturer presented to the Czech Republic based on several months of intense negotiations.

Lockheed Martin appreciates the quality of the Czech industry and, in some cases, its unique production capabilities. The Czech negotiation team repeatedly emphasizes that high-quality industrial cooperation projects aimed at ensuring the state's essential security interests can support the Czech Republic's decision to buy aircraft. At the same time, a meeting of a group of Czech pilots led by Brigadier Jaroslav Mka took place in Fort Worth. Throughout it, the importance of the 5th generation aircraft system was discussed, from the strategic task of deterring the opponent to its operational use in multidomain operations to the individual functions of the F-35 system in specific scenarios. Part of the program was an introduction to the production of the F-35, training programs and a practical demonstration of the pilot's equipment. In the end, the Czech pilots experienced some of the scenarios discussed in the solo demonstrator.

"I am pleased that negotiations with U.S. government agencies are detailed and targeted. We are managing to obtain specific information that we need for a comprehensive perception of the design and processing of material for the government," said senior director Blanka Cupáková about the negotiations, adding that the approach on the American side is constructive.

"I intend to present to the minister a proposal for a set of specific and high-quality industrial cooperation projects between aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin and Czech companies. I am aware that the scope and quality of industrial cooperation offered to the Czech Republic will also be one of the criteria on the basis of which the government will decide on the possible acquisition of 5th generation aircraft," says senior director Blanka Cupáková.

In Washington, Senior Director Cupáková met with the head of the Joint Program Office (JPO) for F-35 aircraft, General Michael J. Schmidt. The theme of the interview was the aspects of the preparation of comprehensive information for the government of the Czech Republic. This was followed by a joint meeting of the Czech work team and American representatives of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) and the JPO. Its content was an evaluation of the fulfillment of partial tasks and the definition of the next procedure.

In addition to a more detailed specification of the possible funding profile, the discussion focused, for example, on personnel training requirements, the necessary infrastructure, the planned meeting of experts on security issues or the schedule. The government decided to start negotiations with the U.S. on the possible acquisition of 5th generation aircraft in July last year in response to the worsening security environment, especially Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.

By October 1, 2023, the Minister of Defense, Jana Ernochová, will inform the government about the results of these negotiations.

The handwriting can improve which is a problem with many of the students today. The scope of thinking and writing is gradually getting reduced because of technology . Creativity is also to some extent getting hampered.

But definitely with a blend of Whiteboard and Technology learning can be more interesting and interactive.

Here Lies my Legacy Save.

Computer died, lost years of play, and so the records I was keeping are now done being collected and are now simply kept.

I WAS renaming my sims by generation because I couldn't tell who was what generation in gameplay and it made it weird when they had the same childhood crush as their children. So the first generation was A-named, next was B, etc.

I did rename some of them funky, I didn't rename others, and some I tried to rename but failed because I couldn't get the names to stick.

All of Gen C were born to played Sims.

Last/family names were mixed from the parents, whose were mixed from their parents. Manning and Falcon became Falman, and when Falman and Blackburn got together, they became Falburn.

When two of the same names have babies (usually because sibling affairs with in-laws), I mixed it up. Once, it was a lady who seduced a mother and son, so Beckman plus Scales became Scaleman and Beckscales. I tend to keep it at 1-5 syllables at most, generally 2, so it's not too messy, but I definitely start losing great grandparent names.

The 'official' records are: Snapshots, where I recap a household at time of switching families and Eulogies, where I recap a Sim's lifetime after their deaths.

Families always went Teen Daughter, Child Son in the beginning. I tried to go by household, but it turns out that those constantly change in ways that don't record well. ^ ^;

Alexia spin's around, placing a gentle and quick kiss on your lips, grasping your hands and moving them off her waist, not wanting to overdo the public displays of affection in front of your teammates.

"Hi baby, did you have a good night?" Alexia asks, knowing that you and a few other team members went out for drinks.

"The best, I basically danced all night, you should have been there though" you whine, not quite mentioning all the other things you did that Alexia likely wouldn't have agreed with.

"I'm glad you had fun, it was defender bonding night and I’m not trying to get in the way of things like that just because we are dating" Alexia explains, she takes the team very seriously and even though she is in love with you, in her mind the team comes first.

"Babe barely, it was just Mapi, Leila, Jana and I hanging out and anyway Patri and Aitana both ended up coming as well so you really wouldn't have been coming in between any bonding" you respond.

You admire how serious Alexia is about the team but sometimes you wish that she would let go a little bit and just be more affectionate or have a bit more fun even when you are at training or doing team activities.

"It's done now, let's not worry about it, instead you need to get ready for training otherwise you'll be late and the captain will have to punish you" Alexia informs you.

"I'm sure the captain wouldn't do that" you reply slyly, attempting to kiss Alexia's neck.

"Come on (Y/N/N), not here" Alexia groans, the girl never letting her guard down at training.

Rather than responding you instead just walk off, while you know this is how Alexia is it definitely does annoy you sometimes that you can't have fun with her unless no one else is around.

You run around the pitch in an attempt to get away from Mapi who is chasing you, the ordeal started when you claimed you could beat Mapi at juggling and won.

"I've got you" Mapi whispers into your ear as she grabs you from behind, lifting you into the air. While loud giggles escape your lips Mapi runs around holding onto you tightly.

"Mapi let me down!" you scream, joy emanating from your voice.

Mapi does as she is asked, letting you back to the ground, instead of completely letting you go though she holds onto you tightly, the two of you hugging for an extended period.

"Can you let go of me now?" you ask, your head pressed against Mapi's chest as she continues to hug you, mainly due to her strong grip.

"What if I don't want to?" Mapi challenges.

"You'll have to carry me back to the locker room" you challenge, wrapping your arms around Mapi's neck.

"That could be arranged '' Mapi responds slyly, lifting you up again, signalling for you to wrap your legs around her waist, once you do Mapi begins to make her way off the training pitch, you clinging to her like a koala.

"Have (Y/N) and Alexia broken up?" Patri asks Leila, knowing that she would likely be the only one of them to know if that had occurred.

"Not from what I know, they seemed to be together this morning when they were hugging and kissing in the locker room" Leila responds.

"Wait what? You got to see them hug and kiss? I barely get to see them talk to each other" Patri groans, annoyed that she missed her favourite couple on the rare occasion that they showed affection.

"Benefits of coming in early" Leila laughs, "anyway why did you ask?" she wonders.

"Because look at (Y/N) and Mapi" Patri discreetly points at you two, Mapi has stopped walking but you are still clinging onto her for dear life, you two are face to face, essentially inches apart, you’re giggling while Mapi looks at you like nobody else in the world could ever compare.

"No you should tell her, you are the one who brought it up" Aitana informs Patri, the two of them in the middle of a very heated conversation when Alexia walks past causing both of them to immediately go quiet.

"Who are we keeping secrets from girls?" Alexia asks, she will say she meant it as a joke but there was not anything at all in her body language, nor tone that indicated that it is.

The two girls stand awkwardly, not knowing what to say, Patri quickly jumps onto a lie "Leila has food in her teeth"

"Leila" Alexia calls her over, wanting to help out the two younger girls.

Leila makes her way over, "open your mouth" Lelia has a questioning look on her face but does it anyway.

"All good" Alexia smiles, seeing nothing in her teeth, she turns back to the two, a questioning look now on her face.

"So you want the truth now?" Aitana asks, knowing that their captain will not let them off so easily.

"Preferably" Alexia responds.

"Um well some of the the team has been talking about how it kind of seems like (Y/N) and Mapi have something going on, it's seems kinda like they have feelings for eachother" Aitana informs Alexia.

"Come on guys, that's ridiculous" Alexia laughs loudly, in her mind there is no way that her girlfriend of five years could have a crush on her best friend.

"We aren't trying to start anything Lex but we thought that at first too. Once you start noticing how they interact it really does seem like she's all in on Mapi, and I guess the fact that you two don't really do PDA doesn't help either" Patri explains.

"Oh, well thanks for telling me guys, I guess I'll have to keep an eye out because I haven't noticed anything but friendly behaviour from them" Alexia walks away, deep in thought about the conversation that just occurred.

"Cuddle buddy" Mapi speaks as she pulls you onto her lap. The team are having a movie night and as usual you and Mapi are acting closer than you probably should.

You get comfortable on Mapi's lap, wrapping your arms around her neck and turning your focus to the screen which will soon display the movie.

Across the room Alexia glares at you and Mapi, once being informed of the behaviour of you two she began to keep an eye on how you interact. Even in the short period that she has been observing you she definitely understands where her teammates are coming from as she would assume that the two of you are a happy couple from the way you act together.

"Are you starting to see it?" Patri asks, sitting next to Alexia.

"Yeah, are they always like this?" Alexia questions.

"Basically yeah" Patri shrugs, she feels bad but there's not much else she can do, it isn't her relationship and she isn't trying to interject and cause problems where there may not be any.

"I don't know how I didn't realise before" Alexia sighs, as she does a loud giggle is heard across the room.

The two look over noticing that Mapi is licking your cheek causing you to giggle loudly hitting Mapi playfully attempting to get her to stop.

"I don't want to overstep but, Lex everyday it looks more and more like you are losing your girl, look at how they look at each other" Patri explains.

Mapi is staring intently at you, a certain longing in her eyes, she holds onto your waist tightly as you still have your arms securely wrapped around Mapi's neck. You are staring back at Mapi an aura of happiness surrounding you as you and Mapi speak to each other like you are the only two people in the room.

"She doesn't look at me like that does she?" Alexia sighs in defeat, nothing can be confirmed until she speaks with you but at the moment it definitely does seem like her girlfriend is in love with her best friend, or that you are at least developing feelings for her.

"I can't say for sure, you two are very private with your relationship, most of us barely even see you guys interact. but I mean in front of the team it definitely looks more like Mapi is her girlfriend, right now it could be you holding her in your lap but she's over there with Mapi, it just doesn't seem right seeing as everyone knows that the two of you are together you know?" Patri explains, she has thrown all caution to the wind, since Alexia is now opening her eyes to the way you are behaving, Patri may as well inform her of how she sees the relationship and what her opinion is.

"I think that may be partly my fault" Alexia sighs knowing that you are an extremely physically intimate person and that you try to to initiate physical contact with Alexia around you teammates but Alexia won't let you due to the idea in her mind that she won't be respected as a leader if she does.

"Hey, no! Do not blame yourself because your girlfriend is going around acting cosy with other girls, that is not your fault" Patri defends Alexia to herself, assuming that Alexia feels like the potential cheating is her fault.

"No Patri that isn't, but the lack of affection she gives me in front of the team is, i'm always pushing her away or asking her not to be so physical because i don't want anyone to think i'm favouring her or not doing my part as the team captain" Alexia explains.

"Oh" is all Patri replies.

"Hey baby?" Alexia asks as the two of you are laying together on Alexia's couch, a random football match that neither of you are particularly interested in plays in the background.

"Hmm?" you lift your head off Alexia's stomach where you had been comfortably laying, almost falling asleep due to the lovely head scratches you had been receiving.

"I need to ask you something, and it's going to sound bad but we really need to talk about this" Alexia sighs, she doesn't even want to think about it but the comments from her teammates have been stuck in her head.

"Yeah what's up?" you sit up a little more, a nervous pit forming in your stomach as you don't know what to expect.

"You'd tell me if you wanted to break up right?" insecurity is clear in her voice, you are taken aback, not just by the question but also by how unsure of herself Alexia sounds in this moment.

"Where is this coming from?" you reply sweetly, although the reply probably wasn't the best as it doesn't stop Alexia's spiralling negative thoughts.

"Could you just answer the question? then we can talk about it further" Alexia has a harshness in her voice.

You scratch the back of your neck, sitting up further. You clear your throat, a sudden awkwardness filling the room.

"Of course I would tell you if I wanted to break up with you, I could never continue to be in a relationship where I do not fully reciprocate the feelings. but I want this so bad, Alexia I've loved you since we were little kids who could barely kick a ball around and now I'm here living my life's dream doing the thing I love most in the world with the first and only woman I will ever be in love with" your response causes Alexia to wonder why she ever doubted the relationship in the first place. "Now can you tell me where that came from?" you ask, kissing Alexia's nose, making yourself comfortable between your girlfriend's legs again.

"Some of the girls mentioned that you might be developing feelings for Mapi, I didn't really believe them at first but you are just so happy around her and you guys are so physical with each other, always touching and such. The more I watched you two the more it definitely did seem like there could be something there and I'm not accusing you of anything I just wanted to be sure that it isn't what it seems" Alexia explains.

"Oh babe" you speak sympathetically, "I can see why people would think that I guess but that's just the friendship Mapi and I have always had and I think that because everyone knows we are together but we aren't very physical it could seem like I’m more into her than I am you. but I love you so much and I'd love to be physical like that with you but I know how serious you are about the team and that that affection in front of the team makes you uncomfortable so that's why I save it for when it's just us, like now" you pull Alexia in to a heated kiss, wanting to show your girlfriend that is truly is her that you love and want to be with, not your best friend.

“Well I guess it wouldn't hurt to be a bit more affectionate in front of the team" Alexia states, making you beam with joy.

"Really Lex? We don't have to" you attempt to hide your excitement.

"You look like you're ready to call a team meeting just to show us making out, I don't think I can take it back now even if I wanted to" Alexia laughs, as your smile doesn't falter.

"You are correct, I need everyone to know that you are mine and I am yours"

"Yeah especially a certain someone" Alexia mutters, referring to her best friend who had been more than making herself cosy with her girlfriend.

"What was that Lex?" you giggle, knowing that Alexia was referring to Mapi.

"I can't wait to show off that you're mine" Alexia responds, pulling you in for a kiss in hopes that the conversation will not revert back to Mapi and the very real possibility that she is in love with you.

Ren’s focus was really incredible as she was stringing the beads.

You had tried to keep the conversation going as she created her lizard but it was easy to tell that she was just humming politely in response to your questions.

She did break into a large grin when she handed it to you to tie up.

“This looks wonderful! Is it going to be for your dad?”

“No this ones for you,” she grins.

You feel a smile creep up on your own face.

You’d been Ran’s nanny for over a year now and she was just the best kid in the world.

She was creative, sweet, and just way too smart for her age.

Honestly it was way easier than you had expected it to be.

The only bad part was her dad.

You should have expected the sheriff of Piltover to be abrupt but you’re pretty sure in your tenure as his nanny he’s said 15 words to you total, most of which were ‘I’ll be late tonight’.

But hey you’ll take a cranky parent over a cranky kid all day.

“Well thank you very much!” You grin as you reach into your pocket, “I know just where to put it.”

You pull out your keys and begin to tie the blue and yellow lizard to your key ring.

Just as you finish you hear the front door open,

Ran jumps up from her stool and runs to meet her father at the door.

“Hey Pumpkin, I’ve got some work to do tonight. Head to your room I’ll see you after ok?”

Odd, Marcus sounds out of breath.

Ren skips her way back over to you and gives you her daily goodbye hug.

You start to clean up the supplies on the table when the sheriff walks into the kitchen.

“You should really get going, it’s getting late.”

You push away the urge to remind your boss that he’s ten minutes early.

“It’s no trouble, I’ll just get this cleaned up and be out of your hair.”

“Look I hate to rush you but I really just-“ he presses a hand to his forehead,”I just really need you out of here ok.”

You’re a bit surprised but try to shake it off.

“Alright then,” you pick your bag off the floor and sling it over your shoulder, “I’ll see you in the morning.”

Marcus had you ushered out the apartment in record time.

You’re still buttoning your coat as you begin the walk home, still perplexed by the interaction.

Marcus has never been the most normal of people to work for but this definitely takes the cake.

Other than being overly quiet there were a few times when you caught him staring at you when you were with Ren, like he was waiting for you to make a mistake. A few other times you would say goodbye to him as you were leaving and he would take about a minute to respond back with a cold ‘good evening’.

But hey, you’re commute could only get shorter if one of the parents in your building offered you a job. Your apartment being just one building over.

Speaking of which you were really looking forward to a cup of tea and curling up with your new novel.

You reach into your pocket to grab your keys and-

Oh for Jana’s sake

Your keys aren’t in your pocket.

Which means they’re still on the table at Marcus’s.

Groaning you turn around to go back and collect them.

Marcus was not going to be happy you were intruding on his ‘work time’.

You start trying to think of ways you could you could make the interaction less awkward.

Maybe if you tell him about your plans for tomorrow with Ren, you had some good ones too! The museum had just opened up a new section in the children’s wing and-

There was someone standing in front of Marcus’s door.

The woman was tall, broad, and stern looking. And her arm was. Holy shit is her arm a sword?

You can see the hint of the attachment inside the rest of her prosthetic.

“Did you need something?” She sneers.

At you.

She’s talking to you.

“Uh, right hi sorry I’m Marcus’s nanny.”

“He’s never mentioned a nanny to us.”

You nod,”I guess not.”

Theres a weird pause.

“Again did you need something?”

“Oh right, my keys, I left my keys.”

She rakes her eyes over you for a moment.

“A nanny huh?”

“Yep.”

“You ever look after crazy teenagers?”

“I mostly work with ages seven to twelve.”

“Damn it. Well I think the boss is going to be interested in meeting you anyway,” she opens the door and calls in,”Silco, the sheriff has a visitor.”

She steps away from the threshold to let you in.

You walk in and ascend the few steps leading to the kitchen.

Adjacent to the kitchen, in the living room was Marcus and who you assume must be Silco.

His hair was pushed back neatly and his suit was immaculate. His eyes were particularly striking though, one blue and one red. Making you feel every time they moved to take in a different part of you. You could see that his face was covered in some makeup to hide some scarring. But despite all that (possibly because of it) he was incredibly attractive. His eyes scanned you but he seemed calm and composed about the interruption.

Marcus on the other hand was turning more red by the second.

“What the hell are you doing back here?”

Before you can even begin to respond Marcus’s guest does it for you.

“Now Marcus where have your manners gone? That is no way to speak to a lady,” he uncrosses his legs and leans forward,”please forgive my friend here, he seems to have lost all manner of respect tonight.”

You feel some heat beginning to rise to your cheeks at the way this stranger is eyeing you.

“Oh no I’m sorry for interrupting.”

“Nonsense! I just can’t believe Marcus never told me he has a girlfriend. And such a pretty one at that.”

You chuckle lightly, “oh no I’m just the nanny.”

Silco looks over at Marcus who’s mouth has set into a straight line while he seemingly avoids eye contact with Silco. Silco breaks into a grin.

“Ah well that does make more sense. Truth be told I’ve always thought he was a bit too grouchy for a relationship. Don’t you?”

“I try not to speak poorly about my bosses in front of them.”

He chuckles,” clever girl. I almost had you there.”

You find yourself giggling at his joke.

“Well I guess I should let you get back to it,” you grab your keys off the counter.

“Oh but this evening was just starting to become fun. I do get tired of our business discussions.”

“Oh I didn’t realize you worked together, I’m surprised we haven’t met before.”

“I’m not surprised, I mean first of all I would want to keep you all to myself if I were in Marcus’s position.”

You’re giggling again as he smiles at you.

“I’m from the undercity. I work with Marcus to ensure peace between us all. But it means I’m not up topside very often.”

“How noble of you.”

“I doubt anyones ever used that word to describe me before. More ‘calculating’ and ‘dangerous’ and thats just what our mutual friend calls me.”

You have no idea what had possessed you to piss off your boss this much just so you can flirt with this strange man but you can’t seem to make yourself stop, “Well I’m sure he’s just being harsh.”

Silco chuckles, “honestly Marcus where do you find a nanny thats both gorgeous and such a good liar.”

Marcus continues his silence.

Silco turns back to you, “I do hope I’m not making you uncomfortable. It’s rare that an old man like me gets any attention from a delightful young lady such as yourself.”

“Oh please you’re not old.”

Marcus is now looking at you like you’ve grown a second head.

“You’re too much darling,” he pulls himself to his feet, “now as much as I would love to spend the rest of the night questioning you about what possesses a bright thing like yourself to spend all of your time with this grouch we do have business to attend to. I suppose it was just your keys that you needed?”

“Yes thats all.”

“Wonderful my dear,” he strides toward you,” I believe that our paths will likely be crossing far more often in the future.”

“I hope so,” you hope that your nerves aren’t showing.

“Well then I’ll just make sure of it,” he grins down at you reaching out a hand.

You give your hand to him expecting him to shake it when he instead pulls it to his lips, placing a kiss on your knuckles.

This time you bite your lip in addition to the giggle.

“Walk safely now,” he calls to you as you exit the apartment. The woman from earlier holding the door for you with her eyes watching Marcus. She had an amused smile.

You found yourself skipping on the walk back to your own apartment.

It's Halloween and summoning a demon is on every little girls' dream sleepover wish list. But when they try switching it up with some greek words here and there, it's not a demon that shows up. It's the whole-ass God of the underworld.

Having a God at your beck and call is fun, but they can also be very demanding in return.

It's nice to feel appreciated, but having a God send you gift baskets with questionable content can become exhausting.

Gods are very entitled beings. So the first thing you need to do, is to teach them empathy.

This was definitely not what they had expected, when they started to go through the old Greek book, they found in the library. Now there is a God sitting in their living room, eating through all the content of the fridge.

books i read in 2022

so, last year i read 290 books, a statistic i put down to the fact i spent much of 2021 unemployed. this year i was employed all year round and managed to increase that total to 300, admittedly in part due to a concerted effort over christmas to read more.

i set myself three goals this year to read more non-romance, non-fiction, and more physical books. as with 2021, i tracked my reading habits over the year, tracking things such as genre, tropes/plot points, months read, etc.. so with that in mind, i'll go into some statistics:

of the 300 books i read, 275 of them were romance books. I did not read as many non-romance books as i intended - my next most-read genre was mystery/crime/thriller. 12 of the non-romance books i read had romance as a major subgenre. i also only read 3 non-fiction books all year, way, way behind the goal i set myself at the start of the year.

281 books i read were ebooks. i read 18 physical books and 1 audiobook. again, this fell behind the goal i set myself at the start of this year. i owned most of the books i read this year - 146 in total - and i leaned a lot more into reading KU books, having read 88. i also read a lot of ARCs this year - 57 in total. i'm going to be more careful about how many ARCs i take on in 2023 because i found it quite hard to keep up with it, but i did read some interesting things.

my most productive months of reading were april and may - i read 36 books in both months. most of the books were novel-length - 263 - and i read 37 novellas.

as in 2021, i continued to track cover types, based on ongoing debates about illustrated covers on romance novels. as with last year, the vast majority of books i read featured a lone man on the cover (54), closely followed by more traditional - and variations of - a clinch cover, of which i read 52. i read 24 books with the type of "cute" illustrated covers, which was higher than last year.

tracking tropes and content, my most read trope was forced proximity - i read 71 books featuring this trope - followed by hate-to-love (which includes enemies-to-lovers, rivals-to-lovers, etc.), having read 64 books with that trope; this is the reverse of the previous year, where hate-to-love was my most-read genre. These were followed by boss/employee, opposites attract, and age gap tropes.

outside of numbers, i'm quite happy with what i read this year and i definitely read more indulgently. my highlights were no one is talking about this by patricia lockwood (a book that broke my heart!), thirsty by mia hopkins, release by suzanne clay, rules of arrangement by maren mackenzie, and things we never got over by lucy score.

next year i'm going to set myself goals, again, to read more widely - both in terms of genre, type, and format - but i'm going to make them slightly smaller and more realistic. it's hard to deny my reading habits have shifted so much over the last couple of years; i'm a romance reader through and through and generally i'm very happy and comfortable with that. still - it would be nice to broaden my horizons a little!
