More thoughts on Torquemada (aka Here’s How We Could Have Had It All)

I feel like I recall seeing some interview at one point where Fontana admitted that he didn’t have much of Oz thought out beyond s1 and a bit of s2, and for sure the later seasons get wacky but there’s still Something there with most of the little bits that end up in the show, imo. It’s mostly the execution that leaves something to be desired, like Fontana and the other writers (I'm not sure to what degree who writes what) didn't really have time to think out the story beats of the seasons or else didn't have time to come up with something better/do some editing. I said a while back (idr where/what post tho), but I think if Alonzo had been brought in earlier, a lot of the same s6 plotlines could have still been achieved while giving us more time to know him and make his appearance worthwhile. Like, first couple episodes after he’s introduced could’ve just been those in-betweener scenes where we see him settling into Oz and putting out feelers:

Interacting with the other Gays (more screen time for them at last??) and getting the lowdown on Oz; I have my other headcanon (based on the crowd scenes) that the Gays sometimes help the Latinos move tits, so maybe…

This would bring him toe to toe with Morales or at least have a chance to with him briefly while the former is on his way out; maybe Torquemada wants to bring his own expertise to the game and tries to talk business to Morales, who’s got other things on his mind and blows Alonzo off, or else puts Alonzo to task with finding out what’s going on with Redding, etc. I think Alonzo could handle himself here, as Redding is no threat at this point, but maybe the real question is whether or not he wants to try to conform and fit in under Morales’ control, which I think the answer would be no, meaning...

Seeing Alonzo ultimately decide to forge his own path to the top and take his sweet deal with Destiny to the Italians

Miguel’s + the other Latinos’ storylines could’ve been largely unchanged meanwhile. Obviously some shit from s6 would have to be sacrificed to accommodate expanding Torquemada's storyline but lbr, s6 had a lot of going-nowhere plotlines as well as storylines that couldve afforded to be much shorter, so there’s honestly plenty of fat to choose from when it comes to what to cut. And introducing Alonzo like this would’ve helped bring the Italians more into play in s6 (could've simultaneously explored a little bit of the post-Schibetta world of the Italians, or at least shown more fall out), as well as the gays. Canonically Alonzo comes in episode 7, and what I’m thinking is basically to bring him in on episode 3 or 4 (right after Said dies) (get rid of the ridiculous Idzik shit). With the 1 hour episodes, that would be plenty of time to start showing his rise to power. He could occasionally cross paths with other characters and get on their radar while creating small moments to plant the payoff of the canon e7 & e8.

I just feel like the pieces would fall into place in a much more satisfying way if we saw earlier on how Torquemada was quietly moving things in his own direction and being either underestimated or ignored due to characters being wrapped up in their own stories. He’d have been there the ~whole times~ and the show could’ve ended with his move to the top feeling more earned, with a little bit more of his potential as a kingpin explored and hinted at with the season finale. Again, it would also have been a good opportunity to explore the Gays in Oz and see how they fit in. Like I mentioned in my tags of the other post, I do think Torquemada would throw some of them under the bus/not care what happens to them once he gets his lmao.

(A s7/new post-canon tale of a subsequent downfall for Alonzo might concern itself mostly with hubris; burnt bridges and capricious impulses might leave no one in his corner if he did lose his footing and start to stumble… I think also him being queer and not just a ~fucker of men~ like Adebisi would motivate his enemies to unite to take him down more so than if he were anybody else.)

man the intro just continues to remind me fucking ingenius the Star Trek introduction was period. Love it. forever. and always. wonder when we will see these scenes play out when we will see that big plant tentacle monster from the intro or when we will see the two hands touch etc

things are flowing so fast rn in burnham's evaluative speech at the start of this episode. even though not much has happened. and no offence but, i do not think shes earned this kind of audience? because theres like. still hardly much to like nor connect with these characters? imo. idk. idk if its just me, maybe it is. but i definitely dont really have much investment in any characters yet. actually, the one character i resonated MOST with was mega-sized space waterbear, no cap. (oh mossie i miss you i hope we can see you again) trek party lol. ok ill say this one thing DISCO has a lot of filming inconsistencies between shots. like, lets say burnham's hands will be up holding her face. but then next shot, her hands are down at her seat. then switch back and her hands are back up. that sort of thing. happens a lot all the time. stamets. happy drunk. lovey dovey. cute. ash and burnham? idk. every time lorca says saru, i just catch myself thinkning "sulu" cute mega-organisms gormagander wow. space whale sounds. amazing. is it prego. … who ANDORIAN?/ IS THAT AN ANDORIAN OML ITS HELMET SO CUTE oh nevermind its scarier. MUDD is so vengeful. what interesting implications for TOS. DUDE WTF the end of DISCO. man a time plot huh ok lets see how this goes a remix of stayin' alive runners said left. let me guess. burnham will later predict them coming from behind her. and then be like "huh. why did i already know this" there is something off about the delivery of these lines from so many of the actors lorca's actor feels pretty grounded same as saru which is good. something feels so weird with the line delivery. idk if it sthe actors or if its the way the filming is that just makes it feel less effective acting?? idk i think its cuz theres a lot of organic quality missing in a lot of the actors getting a decent amount of screentime? i dont want to sound rude ofc i just feel something is off yeah. man. a time jumping Mudd. now THAT'S terrifying. Poor stewart. he didnt deserve to get thrown. "went his own way"? u sure you didnt kill him. Mudd's actor is also pretty grounded. the lines roll off well and not awkwardly. Nice Stamets. this is too fast. Muidd gets shot in the back and then Stamets has a comedic line delivery that seriously needed a pause or soemthing, but we switch imediately to ending the scene and returning after what felt like a commercial break or seomthing.

yeah the pacing of the show is just RUSHING so much like WHY. it just eats up so much of any weight this show couldve had in even its smallest things. i know i sound so critical but its built up a lot and its already the 7th episode into the 1st season. Stamets actor feels pretty good too but i think its just awkward screenplay and awkward lines and weirdo af pacing/film style that ruin things. they need to let this show BREATHE more. it s such a shame they didnt. maybe not the best director. also too many zooms. the show feels so experimental, but i dont know if necessarily in a good way. i sound so pickky but bro im saying what im seeing,. ok sorry this just now, stamets talking to burnham when he says hes the one "missing from mudd's timeloop" is actually pretty bad. bad editing super inconsistent between shots and why are there like a billion camera cuts? we dont need THIS many angles to talk about one single conversational exchange no offence. this scene was pretty bad. weird screenplay, weird delivery, bad editing stamets even sounded like there was a shot with his mic off i could hear the environmental reverb why is this happening. with such a beautiful visual and constume budget such as this. also yes. that is A GORN IN LORCA'S OFFICE. oh my god that means maybe the gorn from SNW DO look humanoid fully matured. ugh cant wait to see what that means. mudd is so merciless. man lorca died like a bug so many times. wtf. why is stamets out of focus- WHAT. WHAT IS THAT. THE FUCK WAS THAT im sorry no this wasnt funny cuz it was supposed to be funny in that way im sorry but just now

when stamets tells burnham that "shes never been in love" at the party in the time loop, she says in the WEIRDEST most… sry ngl, badly acted type way, replying "why would you say that to me" that i had to actually PAUSE the episode and rewatch that again to confirm what i saw. just finished the rewatch of this one scene. wtf was that. sorry that was so poor. its soooo awkwarddddd. and flatttt. what is this ADR though. stamet's ADR in this episode is some of the worse. also sorry that lens reflection of that one green party light that hit right onto burnham's face during this exchange, its almost as if i HEARD the cameraman's thoughts going "ah shit this stupid light" as the camera moved downward to get as much of that green spot out of the direct line of her face. okay, Mr. God-Named-Stamets. is that an apron that isnt a one sided dress. dance in the hallway. ok. this wa so fast. this tone feels very not in sync with the course of this plot? where did this dance thing come from. i think im feeling such a dissonance rn when stamets is on screen because he feels like hes NOT stamets. idk its like, i get that charcters/people are hopefully more than 1-dimensional, and that we get to learn about them more as time passes, but like this kind of feels like stamets just wasnt properly developed and we the audience just didnt get enough proper exposure to him to recognise who really is his person? if that makes ANY sense to anyone. ok no offence, this episode probably is the most trash in terms of script. harry mudd, time loop, saving the ship from destruction, but then also stamets is an omniscient constant, while also flat cardboard af awkward love revelations between ash and burnham?? idk. maybe in a different writers' room, this coiuld be made compellingly and cohesively. but right now. this episode is NOT. IT. im sorry so why does it feel like its deterioriating a bit. the show had me in the beginning cuz how freaking DIFFERENT and UPGRADED it looked (gorgeous btw) compared to ALL the series that came before it in Prime-Timeline. but no matter how i fought it, my emersions been finally broken by the consistently questionable factors that keep loudly making themselves known in this show. too frequently bad deliveries from actors weird af editing bad cinematography even my great efforts to ignore it all and benefit of the doubt, it was too much. which is, based on everything ive ever watched ever, a BAD thing. also, oml lorca is so small in this episode - which actually i like. he feels so insignificant in this episode haha, small fry dying every single time. also i hope i see more creative deaths in this show, cuz everytime someone dies is them dissipating in dusty colour. come onnn, we can do better than thattt.

also just fyi, understand that i am NOT advocating for a super "serious/dire" star trek, weve had a bit of that in random episodes thoruhgout the franchise and moveis too - so no, i also absolutely love silly mad crazy trek plots too, but like. DISCO i think is probably handling this in a way that is the worst ever in Star Trek so far, even among its whacky insane moments. I am keeping to the series and going to stick it through all the way to the end of course. but yeah, i was never here to just be some blind non-insightful talking head that just admired this show unconditionally. if you thought so, then you should try again. i will say whats good, but likewise whats bad. and right now, the good things are things that i have already said, but the bad is really kicking up a storm right now. captain mudd. amazing. its so off-balance, this show. some deliveries are great, pacing is great. but then its like so sporadic and everywhere too often etc yes. delivery is REALLY weird and super weak in too many scenes. idk. maybe construction of the show itself is just weak in too many areas. so so strange. with a show that LOOKS genuinely this good. im just so perplexed. the shows construction feels so amateurish i guess? in not a very good way. "nobody beats Mudd, huh." a businessman is correct, lorca. these camera zoomes are really distasteful. like lorca over here making some consistently really solid deliveries, and the stupid camera cuts and zooms and unnecessary movements just cheapen it all. it makes me so angry. this show needed a better writers' room and better directing. and terrible ADR. its liek they use different mics every 2 lines. i can HEAR the discrepancies, even without my audiophile headphones.

im so mad and sad by this. because the threads of the issues i was sensing since episode 1 are now kind of unforgiveable. i can no longer look over them. so im here really speaking about them in this reaction this time. no offence it kind of feels like nothing much happened this whole episode. and im literally 3 minutes away from finishing this episode. im sorry im not impressed with this ending in how mudd was caught. i feel like this show didnt know how to quite handle the crazy nature of Trek. Bad editing yeah. i keep consistently seeing how for example Mudd is talking, and the camera cuts to a different angle shot of the same line delivery that has to get repeated and edited in, but i can physically see Mudd's jaw still moving in speech despite his dialogue halting from the ADR of the other camera shot. THIS ^ stuff KEEPS happening. and it shouldnt. its super BASIC stuff relatively speaking. and there wasnt this much of an obvious degree of this problematic editing in even older series of trek. so strange. 'i hate how it lifted me out of immersion of this show, this list of issues. you know, id LOVE to see ANY scene of conversation withOUT the stupid slow-creep zoom. listen, i KNOW that this is very often used everywhere in media, but it doesnt mean "always'. in this case DISCO does it poorly. ok episode over. i am not convinced over ANYTHING that just happened. its a 44 minute long episode, but it felt brief as fuck. it didnt feel like it had much substance at all - and im NOT talking some kind of "moral message" shit - things do NOT have to have a real message to be good. and this episode was actually not. it felt so criminally underwhelming. like ok, stamets had augmentation that let him resist the time loop.... and? so what. so what about that. nothing significant happened except apparently blossoming love story between Ash and Burnham, which- Ash x Burnham?

(i dont support either one dw.) ok. well. ima continue the trip ofc. but mmmmm stupid peripheral things are really not doing this show justice. i fear that DISCO is a show that couldve been great but just wasnt even good. bad writing, bad directing, bad editing, bad delivery - i am far from being sold than I was in episode 1. i gave the excuse of the first episode feeling so brisk because it was an exposition….. but the show quickly tired out my benefit-of-the-doubt with how i see that ep 1 wasnt so much a mere exposition, but that its kind of ACTUALLY what this show IS. i cant lie. im p nervous for this show. SNW was fucking good, so i just hope that this show improves to SNW's level where all these questionable issues resolve at some point, more or less.

AUUGHHH THINKING ABOUT SUPERNATURAL ORIGINS AND WHAT IT COULDVE BEEN…….

it’s so sad to think about it because the creators were so happy to tell their characters story but obviously they’ve been doing it for years at this point. I think a bit before covid? But they mostly been doing it full time since covid started since like. What else is there to do? So all those years of making stories, making content, editing, new seasons, having breaks here and there and obviously I don’t know everything since I only joined during,,what? Fucking mho? (Apparently that was when the fandom peaked. Which wasnt a good thing from what I heard from present origins fans who still kept their love of the mcrps) And I didn’t like twitter as a place to use and interact with really so I never got to see into whatever the origins fandom was up to in terms of fanart, theories, fics, which sucks now because I love these series so much

They hit burnout by the time of sno, which came after origins of Olympus. Which was a crazy season btw! What the hell! Dranne you better pay for my fucking therapy you son of bitch!!! (but pluless was the only one actually posting daily on sno, and reinbloo finished calix story later on but it feels short as someone who really loved calix when I first saw his pov, hell I watched the 2nd season of sno! But it was probably for the best that calix got an ending. No matter how sad it was like damn. Make me cry in the afternoon on a school day haha, I think Ritchie tried to finish his pov? But from what I checked he hasn’t) they tried to fix it after having a break and then tried to start up another series just for it to end the same as sno. But I’m glad they just decided to stop beating around the bush. Even if the person who said let’s end it all turned out to be a fucking creep.

Okay I understand Nesta was frustrating sometimes because she really was stubborn but some of the shit Cassian said was really out of line. Especially when he screamed that no one like fucking liked her.

Cassian was down so bad this entire book and I knew that the moment he said he hadn’t bed a female in two years. He was STARVINGGG

Her determination in getting down those stairs, I probably wouldve tested myself down a window or something.

I liked how she bonded with the House. It was a refreshing, different take on loneliness and finding a friend.

The House and how it looked after her. It was the biggest thing in her journey.

One theme I see in Nesta a lot is self sabotage, especially when it means the safety of others. She’s ready to throw herself in front of them.

Her banter with Cassian was really nice to read.

WHEN SHE MENTIONED HAVING A THREESOME TWICE I DIED

Cassian and his backstory was rip. It was really sad thinking about how little kid Cass really regretted some of the things that even he couldn’t control.

sjm did not disappoint with inner thoughts. Those were really refreshing.

She wasn’t vividly jealous or furious at Mor and Cassian’s friendship and I really liked that take.

Cassian’s silent jealously when Helion tries to flirt with Nesta and she dodged it LMAOOO

When Cassian kisses her in front of their family to help her get out of the map

Her silent bond with Az! That kept me going honestly. He was a sly bastard sometimes.

Sometimes I really questioned somethings, like those fast smut scenes but that’s just my preference.

Her marching down to Amren’s after she finds out they voted against her having the weapons she Made

Not to mention how she told Feyre about the baby and the labor risk out of anger, that really hurt both of them and me.

When she stayed silent during her punishment hike with Cassian. Each thought tore me apart.

When he warned her about falling and she was glad he didn’t see the expression on her face. How she didn’t mind if she fell down and how it would better.

When she cried after all those days of silence and finally told him how she felt underneath all that.

He softened up fast too and blamed himself for not realizing all this time why she hated the fire.

Can we talk about that dancing scene with Eris? And how Cassian was secretly exploding on the side as he remembered her mother wanted her to marry a Prince just like Eris.

The Solstice scene had my heart. The gift Az got Nesta and how she hugged him after he told her about it. How Cassian smiled at the sight.

HOW CASS GOT HER A LITTLE MUSIC BOX RECORDED WITH THE MUSIC FROM THE BALLROOM AND HOW HE ASKED THE MUSICIANS TO PERFORM IT FOR HIM AFTER EVERYONE LEFT SO HE COULD GET IT FOR HERRRR

They really kept shit away from each other till it exploded in an argument and that’s a reoccurring theme with this book couple.

WHAT MADE ME SO FRUSTRATED WAS HOW HE WANTED TO STAY IN HER BED AFTER SEX AND SHE WANTED TO CUDDLE BUT THEY DIDNT SAY ANYTHING AND ASSUMED THE OTHER DIDNT WANT IT

The topic of mates was RUSHED. Like I mean really rushed. First they argue, he says shackled and then the next time they get to speak (after the forced Blood Rite and labor scene) they accept it? I dont know, it didn’t sit with me.

I wish Nesta would elaborate on why she didn’t believe in Mates even more and Cassian would actually listen for once. Again, rushed.

The ending was fast paced in my opinion. We could’ve really had more to go off of, I needed more domestic Nessian.

ON THE TOPIC OF NESTA, GWYN, EMERIE

I am obsessed with Gwyn, Emerie and their friendship with Nesta.

I love how Gwyn and Nesta started, both gritting their teeth and still appreciating that aspect of each other.

How Nesta raced to help her with a book even when their first encounter wasn’t the friendliest.

Gwyn being persistent in paying back her small debt. I love her.

When Gwyn applied to defense lessons after Nesta defended them from the scholar priestess.

Emerie, my homegirl. I love her to death. The way she easily befriends Nesta, how Nesta stands up for her when her cousin comes to bother her.

I don’t know if it was just me, but Emerie and Mor might possibly be something. Either good friends or interested lovers.

THE WAY EMERIE BONDED OVER SMUTTY NOVELS WITH THE OTHER GIRLS AND LET THEM BORROW HER STUFFFFFF

I felt really really bad when no one fucking told her she would die because the baby had wings and she wasn’t fit to give birth like that. Like. What.

Can we talk about how they fucked when Feyre was in her Illyrian form and didn’t think the thing through?

Rhys, I can’t stand the guy. First he wants to make a bargain with his mate that they die together and then he wants to keep it from her that she can die when giving birth to their kid.

I think what pissed me off the most was when he was trying to help Cassian get Nesta out of a nightmare/power “episode” and had to experience what she did with the Cauldron and seeing Elain and Cassian hurt. He said he knew she was feeling something but seeing and feeling it yourself was different. Yeah, what else did you think smartass.

Rhys has a habit of keeping important shit secret, Amren is no better either. I think that’s what pissed me off the most. They sometimes kept the too important shit away.

As much as Nesta grew, so did Feyre. They both developed pretty good in my mind, I don’t hate her as much as I despise Rhys sometimes. All and all I love how she and Nesta ended up.

Amren....I get her point about Nesta using and abusing their friendship. At the same time, sometimes she was too harsh.

Elain, darling old cottage core aesthetic Elain. I found her to be a little insufferable sometimes. How she showed up unexpectedly at the Library to talk to Nesta and they got into an argument was funny to me since Nesta pulled out some stuff on her.

Elain and Lucien is some fucked up shit. I understand how she doesn’t want to acknowledge the fact that they’re mates and all that but you can atleast thank the guy when he gives you a gift on Solstice.

I feel bad for Lucien because as sweet as Elain might show to be, she’s really hurting him and could just reject him if she really doesn’t want him.

The way she called Elain a pretty thing with no ambition at 11, no wonder Nesta and Elain have no proper knowledge of survival like Feyre did. She was set on making sure Nesta married someone who would treat her well, Elain married someone rich since her beauty was beyond all three of them.

Literally Mrs Archeron was not okay LMAOOO why are you telling your daughters this when they haven’t even bled yet damn CHILL

I felt bad since she didn’t care for Feyre and only their father doted on Elain and Feyre. Nesta was kept all to her mother to feed off Mrs Archeron’s narcissism.

Not to mention she died a year later

I found it funny Elain mentioned how at 15, Nesta even had their dad fearing her. Like it’s your daughter, wdym you fear her

The backstory on how Nesta treated him and how she feels now looking back. It was saddening and I unfortunately know the regret of not doing somethings. It must eat her alive.

So right now my whole dash is a mix of The Witcher and RWBY. So i was sitting here laughing at the fact those two things have nothing in common. But then i remembered 🤦‍♀️ huntsmen and huntresses fight the grimm... the grimm are monsters... witchers are made for the specific purpose of fighting monsters... both these shows are about killing monsters

In a effort to defend myself id like to point out how theres almost no other similarities that hold up past "thats kinda like this"

EDIT: i went and played myself there i started looking at the "kinda"s and accidentally mightve made the beginnings for a RWBY!AU for The Witcher. WHICH I AM VERY SURPRISED i managed to merge THIS MUCH together

Geralt fights with a sword... so many RWBY characters fight with swords. Granted most of them added guns to them but at least Jaune is out there with a normal sword

Witchers can handle a lot more damage than normal people... huntsmen/tresses take more damage than normal untrained people

RWBY is a fantasy sci-fi combination setting and one of the fantasy elements is that there used to be a lot of magic around but now its just fragments left. And it manifests in two ways: everyone has their own personal superpower (which they have to unlock) (called a semblance), and magic rocks (called Dust) that contain elemental magic which is released when you break it. Witchers have signs, and i dont remember what they all are but i know one of them is fire

Portals exist. Granted unless you're one of the immortal humans or relic spirits that are still walking around they can only be made by someone's semblance. The only portal semblance in the show so far is called Kindred Link, and has a lot of negative emotions wrapped up in it/that particular person but it does make me think a bit about Geralt and Yennefer and the djinn... with the who being permanently tied to another person for the rest of time thing

Jaskier follows Geralt around for the adventure stories. Ruby said in episode 1 or 2 that "sure i could be a police officer, but theres just something more romantic about being a huntress" and later on Yang admits that she's only becoming a huntress because "i want adventure! Im a adrenaline junkie. Being a huntress just lines up with that". So in a AU Jaskier following Geralt around still has merit

Remember those immortals i mentioned? Well one of them made a few semi-immortals called Maidens which outside the two immortals are the only people who can actually use magic, and it has a wacky inheritance policy. Long story short 1) only young women can inherit 2) the powers are transferred to the last girl in the maiden's dying thoughts (unless she's thinking about someone else, then the selection process becomes randomized). Ciri is this very magical being that can do things normal sorceresses cant... and so could her mom. So in this AU her mom couldve been a randomly selected maiden, and at the time of her death it passed to Ciri. But Ciri was a baby at the time so she never really unlocked her powers until now.

Maidens are also super unknown (theres only 4), so everyone not knowing what Ciri is still matches up especially if her mom was randomized and was not found, told, and trained before her death

AHHH so i know i’m late answering this BUT better late than never i guess ksjdjs so i love katie and i was totally expecting to be on her side, hoWEVER. when i was watching their hometown date, before greg even got upset i was sitting there like ….omg katie SAY SMTHN HELLO THIS BOY JUST POURED HIS HEART OUT TO U AND HAS TEARS STREAMING DOWN HIS FACE SAY SMTHN !!!! ANYTHING PLS!!! COMFORT HIM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD lmao LIKE BEFORE THE DRAMA EVEN STARTED!!! and so i can completely see where greg was coming from :/ i for one HATE oversharing as it is, so i know if i poured my heart out like greg did and got NO reaction or acknowledgment whatsoever then i would put my walls up too. but honestly, i just think they were on two separate pages. greg obviously needed reassurance about her feelings for him, he said that going into the date, and wasn’t personally okay with his future fiancé not knowing if she was going to choose him yet. and that’s understandable. i think we forget these are real people’s real lives and not just a show that everyone is magically okay with bc theyre on the show. like in no way would this situation ever be normal irl, so it’s not far-fetched for greg to want katie to know it was going to be him. like obviously it runs deeper than the show atp. and up until that point, it really seemed like it was going to be him (at least to the audience anyway). but greg was feeling vulnerable and needed something, ANYTHING in that moment and katie didn’t give it to him. and when he tried to explain it to her later (albeit he couldve done it better), she still didn’t understand. she didn’t have to say ily, but literally any reassurance whatsoever wouldve helped. i know the hurt/comfort lover in me wouldve comforted and reassured the shit out of the man i love lol. so maybe greg just wasn’t the one and that’s why katie wasn’t able to do that with him, bc in the back of her mind she was in love with blake. and that’s fine too. but like,,, if that was the case then the whole drama and after the final rose thing couldve been avoided. i do think that greg handled it badly when they got into that argument and he left, and i also agree that if you truly love someone you wouldn’t give up so easily. but there’s a lot we don’t see bc of editing and like i said, katie wasn’t giving him anything probably bc she was in love with blake, and greg’s not stupid. she wouldn’t be that wrapped up in the show and other men still being there if he was the only one for her, but he wasnt. at the end of the day, they just weren’t compatible. greg seems like the type of person to have the words of affirmation love language lol and if katie wasn’t able to give that to him then he felt he needed to leave, and that’s his decision. i think the whole thing was just so messy and it makes sense that both of them felt so strongly about it (katie on after the final rose) bc there was so much feeling for each other and emotion wrapped into it. however either way it was for the best.

god all of this reminds that YEARS AGO i started a bachelorette au with the oc being the bachelorette and bts being the contestants LMAO and YOONGI AND OC GOT INTO SUCH AN ANGSTY TEAR-FILLED ARGUMENT V SIMILAR TO THIS ONE bc yoongi wanted to know if it was going to be him at the end and oc was like i can’t make that promise bc i still have three men left and yoongi was like “i don’t want my future wife to not know that she’s going to choose me” 😭 LITERALLY EXACTLY THE SAME OMFG except in mine it was a lot of crying and angst and hurt/comfort and there was smut involved LMAOO so very different 🤣

Their heart beat quickly in their chest, they were up at least two stories in a Jungle tree currently waiting for Helix to get the flower. They’d learned they’re patrol schedule enough to know were Helix would be and even made sure to put their name on the Tag.

The heat of the strange red Jungle was even more unbearable than the normal Jungle so they’d opted to take off their jacket and put it in front of them on the branch they were sitting on. However, that didn't help the stuffiness of the air, and the heat seemingly coming from the Crimson wood. How did those crazy nHo-ers deal with this?

Chattering from below them ripped them from their thoughts and saw Helix, Bon, and the new guy in a teal shirt and jeans surrounding the Tag flower. They quickly laid down on the log to not be spotted, letting out a small cry as the torturous heat from the log hit their cheek. They didnt think it couldve been that loud but opening up their eyes they didnt even realize they had closed, they saw the new guys bright orange eyes on them. ‘Welp, time to scarper, even if it wasnt in the original plan.’

Forgetting their jacket on the hot branch, they’ll get it later, they used the otherworldly vines to stumble their way down the tree. Once both feet were on the ground they fucking sprinted it, if anyone asked, they werent scared of that new guy, ‘oh but what a lie that is’ they thought to themself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Soon they reached a clearing, and while most of the crimson has already overtaken this part of the Jungle, it was nice… until they heard the beating of wings. Shit.

They frantically looked around and a pit dropped in their stomach when they saw a large, winged shadow cross the clearing. They didnt remember seeing wings on the orange eyed guy but maybe they could transform or become possessed like Sage? If that was the case they were screwed, because the nHo were already bloodthirsty normally and if they got possessed… well it wont be good for them, they knew that.

Looking around the clearing again, straining their ears to hear anything actually backfired on them. Instead of the complete silence always talked about in books they heard many noises, from the new raspy chirp of the poor Crimson parrots to the new, larger, ocelots sprinting through the undergrowth with growls echoing through the Jungle. Turning around they swore they saw a pointed gray tail disappear behind a tree, seconds later, a figure, clouded in shadows jumped from one tree to the other and stayed there. They couldnt see he’s eyes but they knew he was staring them down. It sent shivers down their spine; their legs locked themselves in place so they couldn't run away.

They watched him run up the trees faster than any normal human could, then again the horns, wings, and tail probably meant they were a transformed demon of some sort. ‘That didnt help anything’.

Moments later they heard a shrill cackle echo through the Jungle, what the fuck is with this guy, if he’s trying to scare me it sure as hell is working. The cackle died down into a much deeper chuckle and then stopped. They heard leather wings flapping again and turned around; well, tried to. Jungle vines had crawled up their legs and were still climbing. ‘So thats why I can't move’. They started struggling and moving their legs the best they could to get them off but before theyd gotten very far the guy came into view.

They watched him come into view on their left side and their heart stopped. He was so much more terrifying up close.

He was over 6 feet tall and his left eye was completely black, from what they could see, and his right eye had what looked like a crown of wither roses covering it. They could see his black wings tucked neatly onto his back and what little sun poked through the branches reflected on his curved horns that went out away from his head and made them gleam. This isnt what was supposed to happen at all.

He continued walking until he was right in front of them and stopped. He had sharp canine teeth and behind those, where teeth that came out and curved, kind of like a piglins except farther back in the mouth.

He looked at them straight in the eye and grinned, then said something in a language they didnt know. His grin faltered and turned into a look of disappointment, then quickly went straight back into a grin.

Lil, felt more vines reaching their arms and pulled them closer to their body. The moment they did that they felt a strong grip on their right arm and then a sharp, blinding pain, almost like their arm got ripped off, and they screamed. Looking over at their arm it turns out, it was ripped off, tears streaked down their face.

Looking back to where the guy used to be the only thing they saw was their dismembered arm with a Tag around it and then they passed out…

so honesty hour~ i was scared when Seunghun was joining treasure 5... NOT that i think hes untalented in any way shape or form, but he’s the oldest and it seemed like the group would be seunghun + the kids LMAO 

BUT I WAS SURPRISED (not rly) that he fit so well into Going Crazy ??? Like i was so shook that seunghun could sing any song and totally slay it ,, like wowowow he keeps surpassing my expectations

anyways, choi hyunsuk......... he is an amazing leader wowow like when he was leading the boys in the rehearsal and shouting at them while they were literally on stage kdfjdhskd  that was a side of him we hadnt seen before

and the fact that he choreographed the dance breaks ?!?!? like he couldve asked jihoon to help him, but the fact that he carried that on his own is AMAZING ... they truly had the hardest dance to learn and when they made it themselves,, it made everything 10x cooler

ok so as expected, Keita and Seunghun were eliminated which was such a shit move on yg’s part :/ like Keita is the longest running japanese trainee and seunghun is the longest running korean trainee... like wtf

and before i get shit for this, obviously i didnt want any of DNA team to be eliminated (i dont want anyone to be eliminated period),,, but c’mon ,, a 14 year old who has been training for not even a year VS 9 year and 5 year trainees ... ,, i’l admit, i think seunghun deserved that spot, 

and jeongwoo thought so too ,, like the look in jeongwoo’s eyes were not “oh yay i won!!” they were “me park jeongwoo??” kdfjdgkhsfd ,, he looked at seunghun immediately which was so sad cuz these trainees dont even have the time to be happy for themselves cuz they are too busy feeling sad for their friends... ... /sigh/

ok boomerang elimination time freaked me TF out cuz jihoon is my bias of like the entire show and ;-;;;;;;;;; jihoon ;-;;;;;; like obviously hyunsuk was expected, but i was thinking yoshinori or jihoon? really dont know with yg :/

and after those eliminations were over,,, like hyunsuk’s crying really got to me... he was crying ever since seunghun was eliminated and we all know hyunsuk cannot hide his emotions for shit so he was covering his ears during DNA eliminations and he apologized multiple times to the boomerang team and looked SO guilty... my heart ached hearing his sobs... they sounded so child-like and pitiful. it really put things into perspective ;-; 

before this, i was unsure if hyunsuk was fit to be a leader, not cuz he cant lead, but cuz he’s so emotional ... but after boomerang team, i think he really can lead Team A if/when they debut... like wow he was a really amazing leader and sometimes showing/feeling emotion can be good as a role model ... but ofc all team a members are amazing leaders LOL (also jihoon aka leader of team b)

so all of this started when i checked out button’s main blog after seeing their ask blog in the (starbound) tag- i checked their about because i check the abouts of everyone i follow. after i saw some things listed on their about as dislikes i got pretty uncomfortable. i made this post:

you can clearly say the post says “dont reblog this”- the original post said this in the tags. i editted it so that it was clearly on the actual post itself. i reblogged it to the sunrunnercrew blog with the captain “DO NOT REBLOG THIS” in caps. this post was aimed specifically at my mutuals, mostly, an my followers. whether or not you agree with me making the post does not excuse any of what happened next.

THE IMS:

the tumblr ims, aka the calm before the storm. buttonprince apparently followed the sunrunnercrew blog and im’d me about it- which you know what? fair. they did not bother to explain their “opinions”, in case i had misunderstood them (which i doubt), and instead went on tangents about how “opinions dont hurt anyone”

i do not have access to the full conversation because the blog has since become a group blog with more than one member, and button dosent have access to the ims either because they blocked the sunrunnercrew blog.

during the time after i messaged buttonprince i several hate messages of varying degrees of dumbassery and actual hate-level, ranging from being passive aggressive about how i “couldve been nicer” to slurs that were specifically listed on my blacklist after i mentioned my blacklist. these arent in chronological order, my archive is sort of hard to navigate when posts are this close together.

MOONS INVOLVEMENT:

so this is where everything gets really and truly fucked up. moon had defended/promo’d buttonprince after the whole drama, which in itself is fine and all i didnt care. but then they messaged one of my friends with the intent of getting them to stop talking to me or look down on me. they told him something that was the most absurd fucking jump to conclusions ive ever seen, and no matter how much they say they “never said the person was actually me” i cannot for the life of me fathom why theyd mention it in the first place if it wasnt to paint me as the assailant or directly responsible (which is ironic because they never wanted to take responsibility for the shit i received when they were talking about in their server!)

now of course when i learned all of this i was absolutely furious. one of my friends offered to join the server and see what they were talking about me. im going to be absolutely honest and say i was APALLED at the sheer AMOUNT of SHIT they said about me behind my back. things started falling into place- THIS was why i was getting all this hate. because moon opened this drama up into their incredibly popular public fucking server.

they never apologized for this and instead blamed them misgendering me on my own self. ill mention this in the next part as well.

anyway i messaged them on im because its easier and talking through asks takes longer + ask limit, etc. i have an imgur album of screenshots of every thing we BOTH said. im not going to bother posting hi-lights here. itd do you better to read the entire conversation than to look at things out of context. wow i was a little confused as to why they were doing these solo spotlights but actually this is really nice! its nice to see them really going hard at their strengths and really pouring their all in to show off a bit. it can be hard to do so in a group setting all the time, and really it reminds you that there a lot of really talented musicians among these kids. i think itll also be good to remind the kids who are picking later what the other kids’ skills are and what they’re capable of.

BUT ALSO i do think staying with hyt makes sense career-wise. gaining popularity first isnt a bad thing. and he can always (continue to) prove his worth and make all different types of songs in the future, whether during or after his time with hyt. but staying with hyt = exposure, and thats never a bad thing. its just... hopefully they can resolve their emotional issues from here on out.

technically the smart move is to pick a popular contestant like zhao ke, to boost your group’s popularity overall. BUT hyt is so popular it really doesnt matter LOL

man its so interesting bc i feel like on other shows, the contestants are always like “i dont want to get eliminated!” but here its like “i dont feel like i can fit into their music, id rather be eliminated.” its an interestingly different type of setting. i respect that they respect their own music, but i guess theyre not thinking enough about their future career progression? if they really want to make it in the music industry? idk. its interesting bc i feel like ljt has struggled so hard since getting eliminated from the first season that i assume / hope he has more of a mindset of wanting to make it to the end.

'Disaster Management' Or 'Management Disaster'? We Have A List ... So Far

And it will be hard to argue that the whatever management disaster from the council is determined after this is all over, it started long before the rain. Suddenly Mayor Mullet has an unexpected and unwelcome election campaign issue on her hands will her inevitable spin as heroine of the hour hold up to scrutiny? At The Astonisher, has the worm turned? Jenna Cairney took an early swipe at the mayor, even before it got really bad and allows a developer to stick in the boot as well two more another reasons its called the Astonisher. And heres another are you sitting down? The Magpie gives the paper top marks for its coverage of the floods. No, seriously. Theres a very good explanation for it and therein lies a glaringly obvious and valuable lesson for editor Cairney (when shes doing her job, she editor, when not, shes iditor). and The Magpie points out how tomorrows (Monday local) American Super Bowl organisers have missed the ratings bonanza of a lifetime, which couldve doubled their already massive audience. But to start this week The Irony Award of the Decade. There will most certainly be a post-monsoon post-mortem into the disaster management decision-making process and crucially the timing of opening the Ross Dam flood gates; when a legal authority like a council deliberately floods ratepayers homes and businesses, there sure as hell MUST be a post mortem as legal eagles start circling. For the greater good doesnt always cut in matters of compensation. Then there have been confidence-sapping instances like this, too, after flooding had started.

That, and many comments to this blog about timing and pre-organisation of sandbags some places plenty of sand but no bags, others, plenty of both but no shovels, and a dearth of relatively inexpensive mechanical bagging machinery have been sent in. The premier needs to step up now and ease the minds of some businesses that may be teetering on the edge. The mayor should immediately ask for a clarification, and if necessary, a switch to a natural disaster for what else could it be when a Sydney Harbour of water is dumped on the city is such a catastrophically short time. This option is the fairest to all. But The Astonisher Has Well Astonished Given the on-the-run nature of reporting our unfolding disaster, The Magpie gives a emphatic up-tick to Jenna Cairney and her crew of substantially inexperienced journos for wide and consistent coverage. Certainly theres been blips but, far fewer than one could have expected. And why might that be, you ask? But the organisers have missed an ideal opportunity this year to create an all time viewing record, if only they had chosen the half time entertainment with a little vision. Open invitation to talk about how Audrey was under-utilized by the Lorax movie

Oh my god I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for my entire life 

Well, ONE way to improve the movie would be simply removing that entire Thneedvile subplot and making the entire movie about the Once-ler. Like, the movie starts off with a young boy going to visit the Once-ler in this dark and decrepit world. The entire movie is the Once-ler’s story, told with better pacing than the actual movie did. Unlike the original, show what a good guy the Once-ler was, make us invested in his character, show his gradual heel-turn into a shitty guy. If you wanna stay true to the original story, end the movie with the Once-ler giving the seed to the kid. If you want a more optimistic ending, show the Once-ler and the kid planting the seed together or something. Maybe the movie could be sprinkled with some pop culture references, akin to Shrek or Moana, but overall have a very sombering kind of tone and add more character to the Dr Suess classic.

“But we don’t want to just stick to the original,” a corporate suit might say to me. “We need it to be more peppy and modern. We need an unneeded het romance. We need it to appeal to the youth.”

Ok, I’d say, we can make that work. So how can we improve the Lorax (2012) using the characters and aspects that said movie presents to us?? Well, I’m no master writer, so this probably isn’t the best movie, but this is just my idea.

Mostly, by utilizing Audrey.

Alright, so, what do we know about Audrey? Well, she knows about trees. Why? Well, let’s say that in this hypothetical alternate movie, the intro scene is a parent/a guardian/some other adult figure (maybe a younger Norma as a babysitter??) telling a young Audrey about trees. Maybe she comes across old pictures of trees, and finds herself interested in them, and yearns to learn more. 

You see her curiosity bloom in this scene, and that could transition into the opening number Thneedville. Instead of Ted scooting around the singing residents, it would be Audrey. Like, she’s picking up paint from the store, and everyone’s singing around her, and she clearly sticks out as a sore thumb (think the opening song from Beauty and the Beast, except no ones paying attention Audrey). After the song, you see her painting the trees on the back of her house (if she found an old picture of trees like I mentioned before, maybe she’s using it as a reference?? So it makes sense why she even knows what they look like), which leads to Ted crashing his toy plane in her backyard, like in the movie (except from her POV). She shows him her paintings, and gushes abt how she’d love to see a real tree (maybe she’s even the one who tells Ted about the Once-ler, but she’s like “I’m terrified of leaving down, have you seen the cameras everywhere? O’Hare’d go after me and my family for sure” and Ted is just stupid enough to attempt to do it himself). I don’t know, something along those lines. Maybe Ted flat out doesn’t care about trees at first, and finds Audrey’s fascination weird, and she has to convince him. Something like that

This would lead to Ted finding the Once-ler, and that would more or less be the same. However, whenever the movie isn’t focusing on the Once-ler, it’s focusing on Audrey’s story within Thneedville. Instead of the Ted/O’hare confrontation that we got in the movie, Audrey finds O’Hare in her backyard as his guards are painting over her trees. O’Hare could be like “Nice paintings Audrey! Where did you learn about these :)?” and Audrey is glaring him down (and showing some actual character mayhaps???)

And since I’m a sucker for parallels, I imagine parallels being very evident in this version of the movie??? Like at first, you see Ted being kinda dismissive of Audrey’s passion for nature, though eventually giving in (this would parallel the Once-ler, a man with an ulterior motive behind nature, and the Lorax, a creature who genuinely cares about nature). Then, later on, you see O’Hare and Audrey’s confrontation, which would parallel the Once-ler, a cruel business tycoon, shutting down the nature-loving Lorax. Not only would this give a bit more character to the main characters, but it could also show the similarities that Audrey has to the Lorax (which I think the actual movie was trying to go for??? Maybe????) and also show just how terrible the Once-ler has become??? He went from someone as innocent as Ted to someone like O’Hare??? I don’t know. I love parallels 

These stories would come back together when Ted gets the seed and shows it to Audrey. Though I hate that chase scene at the end of the movie, I think it’d be more or less the same in this edited movie. (Maybe there’s some kind of scene where Ted almost gives into O’Hare’s words? Like, he’s got the seed and he’s like “Is it really worth this much trouble, Audrey? Things aren’t SO bad, they COULD be worse” and Audrey’s like “my dude that kind of thinking is what got us here in the first place”. Idk it’s kind of a stretch that could potentially be a good idea maybe?) It’s Audrey who says “I speak for the trees” and gives the big speech at the end. They do the the Let It Grow sequence, and Audrey and Ted plant the seed in the ground together (there’s no cheek kiss. theres. theres just no cheek kiss. maybe she ruffles his hair though, like a big sister)

Then you get the ending, where old once-ler is watering his trees and the Lorax comes down and they have their reunion scene, just like in the actual movie. However, before the credits roll, you see Ted and Audrey coming up over the hill. Ted motions to Audrey like “she’s the Real person who cared a whole awful lot and i wanted her to meet you” and you see Ted and Audrey standing across from the Once-ler and the Lorax and its like... it’s almost like Ted and Audrey are the “new onceler and lorax”???? Like, the Onceler and the Lorax are familiar faces to old fans of dr suess. Adults and what have you. Ted and Audrey, though, are voices for the younger generation. The younger kids watching the movie

Anyways YEAH thats my idea for how they couldve improved the Lorax movie and utilized Audrey more??? Sure it wouldnt have been perfect, hell it probably wouldnt have been GREAT, but these are just the ways that I think I personally wouldve enjoyed the movie more and I hope u all enjoy
