Ever since she'd gotten back home, after that terrifying night in the mines and time spent in the nearby hospital having surgery to save her leg, Yvette had been fighting this constant all-consuming fear and unease all while trying to mask like things were okay. The doctors had claimed that the traumatizing nature of the attacked, likely by a bear or cougar, had been just too much stress for her mind to handle and it had created the scenario of a monster that she had claimed to see that day on the mountain.

It wasn't until she saw the way some of them began to look at her, the questions that they asked her, that the brunette realize that she was once again jeopardizing her younger siblings losing another sister. She was on the verge of being put under psychiatric evaluation for her 'delusions' and Yvette couldn't have that. So, she kept the horrors to herself, pretended to accept that it had just been an animal attack and move on with her life. She had to focus on putting Alejandra to rest and the physical therapy she had to endure to restore the damage caused by the attack.

That didn't stop her from checking in on Eli every now and then, reaching out to make sure he was doing okay. She'd hated how quickly she'd just left him behind, left him there while knowing that creature was still out there and that he was in danger but she had to get back home to the kids. She thought of him constantly though, always worried, keeping Google alerts on the town just in case she stopped hearing from him and his name popped up in the local news. That was how she'd first learned of the attacks.

The latest article spoke about a single mother who worked at the diner Yvette had stopped in once while she was last there. Her heart ached as she thought about the kids of the poor woman, left without a mother. It was getting harder and harder to ignore that something was going on and somehow she felt like she was involved, especially since began to have those horrible nightmares around the same time the attacks began.

Yvette had sworn never to step foot in Deadwood Peak ever again, yet there she found herself again.

Standing in a corner at the woman's service, Yvette's eyes swept over the crowded room, until they found him. A wave of relief momentarily washed over her as she spotted Eli but the look he passed her as his eyes spotted hers made her heart sink to her stomach. She knew he was thinking the same thing she was. This was no cougar.

Once Eli led her to a quieter area for them to talk, asking her how she was doing, Yvette couldn't help but feel that facade she'd been wearing for the past two months crumble away to dust. "No -" she spoke honestly in a weak voice, not quite meeting his gaze. "Not really." Once her eyes did meet his again, a sad smile tipped up at the corners of her lips, trembling softly. "You?" Her eyes searched his, trying to read what she was sure she already knew the answer to. For a split second her gaze glanced over to the memorial of the woman, a photo of her smiling face on display around a wreath of flowers. "Did you know her well?" | @sickuhhh

ONE WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN STRING OF COUGAR ATTACKS

The front page headline of the Deadwood Peak Bulletin read simply enough, but Eli knew better—knew in his bones—that there was so much more underneath the surface.

It had been a couple of months since he and Yvette ventured into those mines. The mines where they saw that thing. Eli took a seat at one of the farther-back pews, the pastor up front thanking everyone for attending Paloma's funeral after the harrowing news. It was a closed casket, of course. They never included these details in the paper on purpose, but he'd heard a word from the sheriff's office that the reason they knew it was Paloma for sure was because her nametag, ripped from the Starlight Diner uniform she was wearing the night she got killed, was the only thing that they could identify on the spot. Every other mauled bit of her—what they could gather from the remains—needed to be shipped off to autopsy and her identity was confirmed by her teeth.

Paloma was a nice woman, late 40s, a single mother of two. Her oldest son, Hayden, took the stand to deliver his eulogy. Eli wasn't aware of how tight his fist was until he felt a sudden headache rush to his head. He knew the truth: Cougars weren't to blame for all of the deaths happening in town. Paloma was the fifth one in such a short time, incredibly uncommon for the area. A few locals were fleeing town, some were staying put, armed. The once quiet town was on alert, on the defensive.

Since he and Yvette went into that mountain, they'd awoken something.

After the service, during refreshments, Eli spotted her across the room. He exchanged what he thought was a knowing look between them. He didn't want to go back into the mines, but what was happening seemed personal. Like the monster was going to keep doing this until someone tried to stop it. He closed the distance between them, leading Yvette into a quieter corner of the grieving room.

"Hey. You alright?"

Hello! I Just wanted to let you know that I LOVED the published ver. of "Don't Shoot the Messenger". And I was so excited to hear that Dale and Sana's story might get published too.

At first I was really unsure about getting the book, as I didn't want to be disappointed if the changes made didn't translate well compared to the original. BUT YOU KNOCKED MY EXPECTATIONS RIGHT OUT OF THE WATER!! IT WAS SO GOOD!!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm so excited for your future projects. And I wish you luck on your future publishing endeavours because I will be buying all future published books by you. And no one can stop me haha >:D

I also wanted to ask if there's a chance that any of your other previous works will also be published? Of course it's a huge effort of time and resources to publish something. But I do hold out hope that I might one day hold Heshi's story in my hands because truthfully it's such a comfort to me and I go back to it periodically to reread. I love that snakey boi. NO PRESSURE THO. If that's not in the cards, just the fact that it exists as a story is wonderful. Thank you so much for all the writing you do.

Dale and Sana's story definitely will be self-published,its just a matter of when. it's also probably gonna get more tweaks than DSM due to the length and the way the story evolved over 2 years lol

As for previous short stories that getting published, the answer is yes, i do have plans to publish them as well, they're just a lower priority for multiple reasons. firstly, me and everyone wants NWWD the most so its #1.

For 'Finally Woken' i actually already have the first 2 chapters converted to 3rd POV, however, its shorter than DSM and so would cost nearly as much to have edited but would sell for less (and amazon will try to tell me the spine is too narrow lol) so my current thoughts are to bundle it with 'Selfish' (helpfully already in 3rd person) and make a Naga Novella (called like 'Tangled Up in Tails' or something lol) with both of them in it so i can release it priced similarly to DSM.

For 'Sacrifice', i actually have plans to make that a 5 novella series about different forgotten deities returning to the same town, with 'Sacrifice' likely being offered as a cheaper, first book about a month or so before the second is published to get people into the series. the rest of the novellas would likely not go up on tumblr/AO3 at all and would only be published. i'd like to use this hypothetical series to see how that sort of model would work for me. i've planned out the 5 novellas to some extent but nothings really written yet besides 'Sacrifice'. as a complete project, its very low on my list after everything i'll b posting here and NWWD publishing, so since 'Sacrifice' is tied to that, its not likely to get published anytime soon.

For 'Snapped', i'd likely do something similar to 'Finally Woken' - write another short Sci-Fi/Alien story and bundle them together for publishing. However, i dont currently have anything written that would work so that's also a low priority evn if 'Snapped' is already 3rd POV.

I'm really excited to self-publish my work, but its expensive and what I've made from DSM has come nowhere close to covering my costs and likely won't. the only good thing is basically all the costs are up-front so its easy to jsut keep the books out there and making money when ppl buy it. i have a good job and am happy to spend my money to get my work out there and hope over time self-publishing will break-even, but that will take years at a minimum so it'll be slow going in the beginning.

my goal is to get everything self-published so it'll just be a matter of time - i too want to hold a copy of Heshi's story in my hands lol

A kinda active rp account for my main muse, Tobi/ Obito Uchiha from the iconic series, Naruto.

I’m very picky when it comes to rp partners, but as long as you’re accurate to your designated character, are literate, and follow my rules then all should go well. Meaning you passed the test, yay huh?

• I consider myself to be a literate to advance literate roleplayer. Meaning a few very detailed paragraphs. It’s my usual forte really, but if I’m feeling frisky and in the zone? Novella style. I don’t expect my partner to match my writing length, but just put in the effort at least. Have proper grammar and such, no repetition unless it’s for exaggeration.

• Not really a multi-shipper. I prefer to keep things simple and monoamorous. As long as it makes sense to me in general, like some background knowledge/past between the two. For example, Obikaka, ObiDei, Obirin.

• Crossovers/Alternative Universes plots are completely fine with me, I’m pretty open to anything as long as it’s not overly complex.

• Before you ask, yes. NSFW is allowed, just be 18 years and older. Minors dni. And don’t make it the whole plot.

• Adding onto that smut topic, I’m a strict top when it comes to that kinda circumstances. I don’t bottom or even switch. So don’t ask.

• Don’t push your headcanons onto me. I understand that we all have our own personal view and opinions, but I rather stick to mine. You can always tell me about them of course, but don’t pressure me into changing mine.

• Absolutely do NOT control my character, it’s annoying in all senses. And I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want me doing the same damn thing.

• My timezone is CT, central if you don’t know what that fucking means. So if you’re across the world and are 12 hours ahead of me, it ain’t gonna workout. Common sense.

• I’m a working adult with a life, so I won’t be online all the time unless it’s my day off. My replies may be slow due to that. Sorry in advanced.

Novella November: Day 7

@novella-november One Week Update!

A week already. And yet it feels like it should be longer.

Anyway, wordcount.

My Current Wordcount: 15,882

Alright, that's more than I expected. I've only just realised I've passed the half way point. I'll say, the TrackBear leaderboard is acting as quite the motivator. That line graph. I'm getting a little competitive.

Whatever, I'm enjoying myself. And it's a good distraction from certain world politics going on... More importantly, this is just a story I've wanted to write for ages, Ninth Realm, and I love having a good excuse to write with a challenge like this!

AND, as I did back in September for 40K in 42 Days, I'm gonna start posting large-ish snippets of what I've been writing with each update.

So, snippet time.

This snippet is an early pivotal moment in the story, where Angela is finally given a voice... literally. She's been mute up until now and has had some trouble communicating, with only a vague grasp of sign language and some written words.

Elsewhere in the building, Angela, as was now her name, was sat in a cell. The door was open, unlocked, and the bed given fresh linens. It honestly was just a barely decorated bedroom with a solid door and a camera in the corner. One of them, Hunter, had promised to switch the camera off.

She sat back on the bed, alone with her thoughts. She often was. Unable to speak, socialising was a rarity. But these seemed like good people, the friendly Pheobe, her nervous looking paramour, big kind Hunter, stern Mike, the man Reggie who she hadn’t really met yet… and then that pleasant doctor. Simon. Polite and caring. It was a long time since someone had properly cared. She wasn’t even sure how long.

Her dour thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. It waited, clearly expecting a response, but Angela didn’t have a method of answering. The visitor eventually worked this out, and opened the door, Pheobe popping her head in.

“Hi. Sorry, forgot you couldn’t answer. How are you settling in?”

Angela gave a thumbs up. There was nothing to complain about, really.

“Cool. I just wanted to come down and check on you. Also, I thought I’d bring you some clothes.” She produced a pile from behind her back. “Those bandages look a little chilly, you know? I’ve got nothing again the au naturel look, but I thought you’d like the option. Just some of Jess’s old things that she never wears. She prefers to make a statement with her clothes, as you likely saw. I think she’s also a bit bigger than you, so you might need a belt, but it’ll do for now. So… enjoy.” She put down the clothes and stepped back.

Angela accepted them with a genuine smile. She had no trouble with the au naturel look either, but now that she mentioned it, it was a little cold in here. And she did generally prefer to wear clothes.

“Also… there was something else,” Pheobe said a little more hesitantly. “I don’t know if this is stupid or not, but I made you something.”

Angela curved an eyebrow curiously. Pheobe produced something from a pocket, a small device on a strap.

“I know you can sign and everything, but I’m not a great translator. Simon taught me some last year, but most if it’s fallen right back out of my brain. But I saw the way you communicated using my phone, and Simon said you did the same with his tablet. Something to do with you… emitting emotions, like how I felt yours. So, I just thought…”

She handed the device over, which Angela took carefully.

“It’s basically just a speaker attached to a small computer. Repurposed an old phone with text to speech. I can’t guarantee it’s perfect, but it should work, and it might mean you can communicate without us looking at you or over a radio. And that’ll make Mike happy, if we’re working with you for the time being.”

Angela held up the little device. It was as described, just a little speaker grill on a box on a strap. She tested the strap for its strength.

“I was thinking you could put in on an arm or-”

Angela placed the strip across her neck, laying the box across the front of her throat.

“Or wear it as a choker. That’s cool too. It’s like a voice box!” she realised.

Angela clasped it at the back, and swallowed to make sure it wasn’t in the way. She nodded once it was comfortable.

“It should be able to communicate just like the phone.”

Angela sat straight, focused, and tried to focus her thoughts. To speak without moving her lips. To speak with-

“BZzztt… SPEAK WITHOUT-” the device blurted. Angela stopped. “I CAN… I can speak,” she said through the box, concentrating and lowering the volume. The voice was flat and monotonous, and just vaguely female, but it was a voice. She concentrated again. “I can speak,” she repeated, trying to fluctuate the tone. It barely shifted.

“There you go!” Pheobe said excitedly. “That doesn’t, like, hurt or anything?”

“It’s a little DIFFICULT,” the box suddenly yelled. Angela pulled her new voice back. “It takes effort. But thank you.” She said in her new flat monotone.

Pheobe was beaming. “It’s no trouble.”

“Thank you, Phay-o-be.” She paused, hearing the wrong sound come out. “Phay-o… Phay-o…”

“Maybe I can tweak it a little. Tighten up the text to speech.”

“Phay… Phee… Phee-Be… Pheobe. Thank you, Pheobe,” she said finally, genuinely aglow with gratitude, even if her new voice didn’t show it. “This is wonderful.”

“Seriously, it’s no trouble. I’ll leave you to work out how to use it. See you in the morning, Angela.”

“GoodNIGHT Pheobe,” Angela returned, managing regain control of her volume.

“See you in the morning,” Pheobe repeated, and headed back upstairs.

Angela sat on her bed, cross legged, thinking of all the words she could say. She picked out some that seemed the most important.

“Hello. My name is Angela. What is your name?”

And into the night, she continued to practice with her new gift.

Paislie slowly opened the door, cursing the way it creaked. Not that it mattered terribly, none of the Showfall escapees still living in the house were light sleepers except for-

"Hey."

-Randy.

"Hi," Paislie said, shuffling to the couch to shed their platform boots. "How were the kids?"

The brunette let out a chuckle at the recollection of Paislie's four siblings. "About as easy to handle as you."

"Oh."

"Nah. They're good," he assured Paislie. "You have a good time?"

Paislie blushed as a smile grew, realizing he'd noticed their mussed dress, undone hair and flushed cheeks- not to mention the lipstick stain on their cheek that still remained.

"Oh, a really good time."

"Shh," Paislie laughed, leaning back on the couch.

"It's alright," Randy grinned in reply. "I worked at a bar, that's the only reason I know. I get it."

He leaned forward, folding his hands in his lap. "So tell me about her, come on."

A high-pitched giggle came from Paislie.

"She bought us a couple rounds, I bought us a couple more. We danced for a bit, and holy French pressed fuck, she knows how to dance. She's so beautiful," Paislie said, a faraway look planting itself in their eyes as they daydreamed in the direction of the carpet.

"How many drinks did you have?"

"Dunno. Five? Maybe."

Randy sighed, though the smile on his face didn't leave. Paislie's friends had probably had them mix drinks as a joke too, knowing he would be fine in the end.

"You don't do anything by halves, do ya."

" 'S okay. Not my first time," Paislie slurred out, and the older of the two nodded.

"I know. Still." He picked up the empty plastic trash can in the room that nobody used anyway. "Need this?"

Paislie laughed, pushing his hand down. "No."

Randy couldn't be bothered hiding a gentle scoff. "Yeah, you do." He put it beside Paislie as a compromise. "I'm glad you had fun."

"Got her number, too," Paislie smiled, laying down on the couch. "Dunno how. She's awesome." They said a few more things Randy couldn't understand, and he shook his head.

Drunk Paislie was decidedly similar to a cat with catnip, he mused.

"Alright, c'mon, tiger. Still up to walking?"

"Nuh uh."

Randy paused. "You alright there until the morning, then?"

"I'm gonna take a nap here," Paislie informed him after a second of thinking, flopping onto their stomach and cuddling into the pillow beside the armrest.

"Okay," he surrendered. "I'll find you a blanket, then."

"M'kay."

He'd barely made it down the hall when the sound of a harsh and very productive cough finally fulfilled his expectations.

Returning with the previously sought blanket and a few towels just in case, he found Paislie somehow more limply draped over the couch. The now-vomit-filled trash bin fortunately managed to contain the contents of whatever drinks Paislie had probably thrown back without a second thought.

"Fuck. Yeah, I did needa throw up," they murmured.

Randy couldn't help the quiet laugh that escaped him. "I told you, kid, I've seen this a million times over. Go ahead and sleep."

Paislie's eyes were predictably closed before he'd finished his sentence.

Which meant the only thing left for Randy to do was find a landfill or perhaps a large forest to dispose of the trash bin at.

Maria wouldn't miss it, seeing as how she'd left it at his and Henrik's house.

Well, I have once again gotten possessed by a horrible case of New-WIP-itis, so you get to hear about a story I intend to rewrite :)) Almost absurd amounts of spoilers ahead :)

Okay, so... When I was 19 I wrote my first novella and the greatest failure of my life. It was an urban fantasy detective story about Michael, an exorcist who got forcefully ghost-ified, trying to hunt down a soul-trader who called himself the Devil, bring his own corpse back to life so he doesn't have to remain a ghost, and catching the eye of every evil in the process. It was really, really badly written and I intend to redo it from scratch.

Anyways, if Michael had a chance to see what was to come, he would totally seize it. Of course, I'm not quite sure if would help him.

(spoiler time!!!!! :D)

You see, the vast majority of soul-traders and other such dark mages use the names of more powerful beings to obscure their true selves. Which is why, when Michael gets assigned to investigate the Devil, he has no idea he's about to go toe to toe with the actual ruler of Hell (why the Devil decided to take a holiday in Luxatia remains to be answered). Of course, the Devil has no idea that the man he's been importing his souls from is the actual Spirit Emperor either. And the Spirit Emperor (who has no idea about any of the above) was in fact to blame for the mishap that turned Michael into a ghost.

Now, if Michael knew that he was en route to pissing off two of the most powerful Inhumans in existence, he would... probably still do it, to be honest. He's foolishly loyal to his job and if said job demands he go fight pseudo-gods, he's gonna go fight pseudo-gods. What might sway him is the fact that the Spirit Emperor was to blame for his ghostliness. The Luxatian Exorcist Corps gave him horrible amounts of grief for being a ghostly exorcist (something something prejudice), and he hates being inhuman like an Nazi would hate being Jewish, so I suspect he might just go full axe-murderer on the Spirit Emperor if he knew.

Anyways, I don't wanna wear out the story before I've even written it, so that's all I'll say :)) (Honestly not sure if I'll actually get around to writing it haha)

i haven't talked about this yet (i think), but i kind of read dune twice? i realized very early on that the physical book wasn't the way to go for me. something about trying to absorb complex information when there's pretty lights and sounds and tiny tiny text on a weirdly shaped object was truly? impossible for me. BUT!! my good friend (hiii king) had given me his special annotated copy so i really wanted to read his thoughts on everything?

anyways, the way i solved this problem was to just... read everything twice. once, physically, as more of a vibes catching heavy skim, and then again, digitally, really trying to understand the minutiae of it.

this approach maybe worked? i still couldn't tell you very much of the plot, but knowing what was coming helped me enjoy it more? idfk

alright so let's talk about "a foul thing" first!

some things i found to be a bit odd:

why did they keep saying how worried they were about being recognized but kept their appearances pretty much the same (besides Juliette's long hair) Benedikt and marshall's hair is the same from what I remember, and their faces still look the same (they're obviously older) and all of this other stuff but I'll get to more of that when we talk about "this foul murder"

also, why tell pretty much everyone EXCEPT rosalind and alisa who are family?? like yes I get that they are trying to protect them but now rosalind is carrying this guilt for a super long time and that made me pretty sad 😭 I can't imagine the betrayal rosalind is gonna feel when she finds out celia didn't tell her. same with alisa, I bet she'll feel pretty bad that she didn't know.

but that's enough about that, for now, let's get on to stuff I liked :)

sorry, i really needed to say that omfg they were so cute in the entire novella. rdbmbbb I just love them they are so precious to me 🙏🏼no ship will ever hit as good as they do (ofc evajacks because come on it's evajacks and they are my otp) I love the way chloe wrote them in this novella as well. they were still the old roma and juliette but you could tell how they'd matured and how everything had affected them in so many ways and just fdfdkvfdk,dvfl, i loved it, man, i live for fluff but MARRIED COUPLE FLUFF??? AFTER BEING ENEMIES??? HELL YEAH it was everything i wanted it to be and more fluff and romance-wise!!!

alright, now we need to talk about roma and juliette's death, and also the connections with foul lady fortune.

so it is said in the first chapter that this takes place in 1931, the same time as the beginning of foul lady fortune, shown here in these two pictures

(top is a foul thing and the bottom is foul lady fortune)

so as you can see they start at the same time. so the start of "a foul thing" takes place while rosalind is on the train in the first chapter after the prologue. i found this to be interesting since i thought "foul lady fortune" was spread out for months but at the end of flf (foul lady fortune) Rosalind receives this letter:

and at the end of afl (a foul thing), we get a page of juliette writing that same letter.

(also side note but i really appreciate this, isn't it so nice how chloe gong managed to tie both books together SO WELL in only 117 pages???)

So because of this, I found the timeline confusing because this takes place in September in afl BUT it seemed like way more than a month in flf?? if anyone has answers on why this is or corrections for the timeline, please comment them cause this confused me quite a bit.

this might've been just me but i also think I missed a lot of important information and how flf connects to the novellas because I am really REALLY bad with names 😥 I am trying my best guys ok 😭

i also liked the introduction of new characters in this and also how much chloe was able to get done within 117 pages like god damn, she got a lot done writing this. new characters and a new plot, answers to roma and juliette's death??? angst??? fluff??? it was all there and did not disappoint.

also, i would like to say that I KNEW it was very likely they couldn't be dead because there was no body, no leftovers, no nothing. like yes i know they were supposed to be exploded or whatever but even in explosions there's gonna be uhh leftover flesh 👁

anyways, let's move on to my favorite quotes and then we can talk about "this foul murder"

let me close this by saying that "a foul thing" was so amazing and up there in my favorite books definitely!!! more authors need to write novellas taking place after the couple is together, it just hits different. but overall for this first part of "last violent call"?? 5/5 stars!!!

If there is another movie how much you wanna bet that Stiles dies off screen, Derek remains dead and it comes out in true Latin Novella form, that Eli’s mother is some random omega and Stiles is his biological dad? Bet you anything that’s gonna happen so Eli will also have complicated feeling about the jeep because his dad, the one who raised him and loved him and died for him wasn’t his bio parent but was in love with the parent dad who just couldn’t handle being his parent but also loved his dad. I bet, I bet Jeff is shady enough to do that like “I’m giving you Sterek, see this is the sterek love child. It’s just that they’re both dead but hey Derek loved Stiles and wanted to raise Eli as their child.”

I actually wouldn’t mind it so much considering this is what a lot of people are assuming for Eli’s back story anyway, either this or Nemeton magic baby or m-preg baby, point is Jeff would probably pull something like this out of his butt. Oh! I never even thought of it. Maybe Eli’s mom is Cora? Wouldn’t that be something? Cora and Stiles happened fifteen years before offscreen and Cora had the baby, never told Stiles and gave the kid to Derek because she doesn’t want kids and “You want a family. Have a family.”

And thats why she wasn’t mentioned because she left a baby on Derek’s doorstep who was the child of the man he loved but could never confess too. Maybe that. Probably that too. Who knows.

Regardless of Jeff’s bad writing, the fandom is already doing a great job of writing all these different fix it fics that explain how Eli came to be & how he fits into the world with Derek & Stiles being his proud dads. I’m just glad fans collectively tell Jeff to go fuck himself and write stuff that’s so much better.

i also forgot to mention that another thing i could do really easily: write paragraphs/articles/essays.

you said it yourself, my asks are "novella-sized" and it usually takes me less than 30 minutes to write them (once i get in the appropriate frame of mind and start writing on autopilot). it's super natural for me and it feels satisfying when i get it off my chest. if only there was some kind of job that would pay me to write stuff for them, that would be a very easy way for me to make money. and i could write from home!

there are questions you ask during job interviews? i thought the employer was the one asking all the questions and you are only allowed to give answers? what.

i know people might understand my phobia of bugs and be sympathetic, but it's not about them. it's about how this phobia interferes with my proper functioning. i can't even cook a meal for myself without running back to my room in fear because i saw a spider. that's a problem. if i start living alone at one point, it'll be an even bigger problem.

unfortunately i don't live in the US, so i can't do state healthcare :( but i do live in western europe, so my country is pretty well-off and has a decent standard of living.

yeah, I'm 20, but i honestly feel 80. and i'm not disabled, but sometimes i feel spiritually disabled. it's like i'm in a deep pit. i've been in this pit for over a decade. and i feel like the harder i try to climb my way out to the surface, the further i fall down. every day i feel like i get further and further from the surface.

You never know, you could always see if you can get in somewhere writing for a living. Local newspapers and stuff. I was close with a guy who used to write articles on freelance to support him and his mom.

Brains are hard, man. Maybe the way to deal with it is sorta… going around it, in a way. Instead of dealing with bugs and spiders and stuff directly, you could use repellent to make them leave or just simplify tasks where they hang out so that you don’t have to spend so much time around them, that’s usually how I deal with spiders.

In general, honestly, I use a lot of shortcuts. Meal replacers, bath wipes, premade stuff and setting up things when I have energy for when I don’t, y’know?

That kinda pit is exactly how a lot of people describe depression. The most annoying part of it is that it tries to make you feel like fighting it is useless or hurts more, eventually though that’s about the only way to feel better.

I’m getting used to just not having a car 😅 it’s been rough, but it’s fine. I’m thinking about trying to scrape some money together to get a bike instead so that I can still run little errands in town at least.

I’ll try my hardest to keep it short and sweet because you’re a little too mean for making me pick only 5???? I cannot even recall a moment with Xie Lian that didn’t take my heart away, like... HAVE U SEEN HIS HIGHNESS???

Anyway let’s not prolong my rambling and here we go (not in order because I just cant im so sorry!!!)

Book 4 XL’s “fuck you!” to Bai Wuxiang

This was just an epic turning point for him, I can’t explain well but this is how we as readers, were made aware that Xie Lian is different and how fucking amazing he is as a person. This is where the meaning of “body in abyss, heart in paradise” is fully manifested. We see here that no matter the trauma XL underwent, his heart remains good and for me, it felt amazingly good reading this and I felt like I was able to say a big “Fuck you!” to Bai Wuxiang as well!!

There are too many moments but every time heavenly officials refer to Hua Cheng as “your Crimson Rain Sought Flower/ Hua Chengzu” when speaking to XL.

NBD but it’s just adorable how XL doesn’t even correct them when they do this. He be like “yeah i know he’s mine, and what about it???”

I don’t think I’ll ever forget this line by dianxia. I would probably forget the exact quotes from the book, but not this one

Xie Lian’s deep understanding of human nature is very much exemplified here. His 800 years of roaming in the mortal realm isnt just for show, he learned a lot about how people are to be able to know how we change, how we rise and how we fall, but it is still “us” in the end. Reading this line was just sooo comforting to me

His Highness’ humor is just as sexy as the person himself. There’s plenty of examples like when he was being a tease with San Lang and went “who’s the most handsome god or ghost? Who’s the most powerful etc” but I always laugh at this part, it’s just ✨COMEDIC GOLD✨

Lastly, this part:

TEARS. Every fucking time. JUST TEARS.

“Won’t you stay?”—imma try explaining this without bawling but yeah. I love this bittersweet moment because I feel like for the first time in a while, Xie Lian wanted something. For so long, he never wanted anything, nor desired something to be his. He was okay with people coming and going, riches, comfort, pain, it all comes and goes for him and in 800 years, he’s learned to accept that. And then, San Lang came. It warmed my heart incredibly knowing that our highness has found happiness (though he had to leave a while) but the realization hit my heart so so much. It healed and broke my heart at the same time.

Honorable Mention: because y’all know this has to be one of the top moments EVER

The reasons why we're getting Manorian book

There has been a lot of speculation whether SJM is going to favor us with book/novella about Manon Blackbeak and Dorian Havilliard, recently I saw some fans doubting it, so here's a list of logical reasons why it's happening.

1. It's SJM

This woman writes two 500+ pages books per year, for her it would be a piece of cake.

2. There have already been books focused on side characters

a) Chaol and Yrene - Chaol was one of the most unpopular characters before Tower of Dawn (which made me love him hehe) and she still wrote a 600+ pages long book about him, just imagine what she'd do with the most popular character (Manon) and one of the most popular ones (Dorian).

b) Nesta and Cassian - this is ship is the closest to Manorian equivalent in ACOTAR series, aka starting from a physical relationship that develops into a sentimental one. Also 6th ACOTAR book will be focused on a new characters (most probably Elain)

3. Favoritism

SJM has talked multiple times about her love for these two. When asked about her favorite TOG character, she said Aelin, but Manon was a close second place and she said that she absolutely loves writing her.

In another interview, when asked who she would go on a book tour with and a few similar questions, she answered Dorian.

Now, I haven't seen all of her interviews ever and I'm not sure how much she loves Nessian and Cahorene (seems to love Nessian a hella lot tho), but it's definite that Manorian are some of her favorite characters and it's just logical that she would write about them.

4. Unfinished story/Unresolved feelings

Ships at the end of TOG:

Rowaelin - married

Elorcan - engaged

Lysaedion - engaged

Chaorene - married with a baby on the way

Nestaq - engaged

Manorian - hug and "we'll see"

All the ships basically got engaged in the last chapter (it's not like I didn't like it hehe) and their stories, romantic-wise, were pretty much finished and they have no unresolved tension between them. Manorian on the other hand, have enough of it for all the ships lol.

KOA spoilers ahead!

Keep in mind, Manorian relationship was mostly a sexual one, and they don't quite yet have a way of communicating their feelings properly. So there is a lot of unaddressed between them, even though they obviously care a lot about each other.

The unresolved things between Manon and Dorian:

"“And if I asked you to stay?” / “I’d need a very convincing reason, I suppose.” / “Because I don’t want you to go.” - they just fucked and Dorian left for Morath later, which impacted Manon a lot but they haven't discussed it

"I even care about you." - Manon got up and left

"There is only one witch who will be my queen." - Manon doesn't know about this

Manon saved Dorian from Valg demon even when Aelin couldn't. It was the worst thing to happen to Dorian and he still bears scars from it, yet he didn't have an appropriate situation to thank Manon for it

Dorian knows that Erawan lusted after Manon, which got him pissed of course, and he didn't have a chance nor time to ask Manon about it. It might be nothing, but if I were Dorain and my girlfriend who doesn't show feelings was locked up with a crazy guy who has a thing for her, and have seen the way he treats women, I'd be concerned. Erawan was a Valg king, a tough opponent even for Manon. If he had done something to her, and he had plenty of means and opportunities and wish to do so, Manon would never openly tell anyone (maybe Asterin) about it, because it would imply opening up and being weak, which is Manon's worst fear. Again, SJM, as the Queen of Foreshadowing, wouldn't just randomly throw in the main villain having a thing for an important character, everything in her books always has a meaning and purpose.

"Would you miss me if I didn't [come back]?" - Manon didn't reply

This is how SJM described Manorian marriage: "She would be his wife, his queen. She was already his equal, his match, mirror in so many ways. And with their union, the world would know it." - and you're telling me it's not deserving of its own book? Not just that, Manon asked Dorian for marriage and they, again, just had sex, with Dorian loving the idea but deep down knowing that Manon would feel caged in a marriage. And that attitude won't just change out of the blue. It takes time and development which is something SJM writes amazingly.

With the Thirteen gone, beside Abraxos Dorian is the only creature Manon cares about.

Dorian's mortality (although as you'll see in point #6 I'm sure he's not human)

The dreaded "You could just marry each other." / "We'll see." (Thanks Yrene :)

5. Foreshadowing

Listen here, SJM IS THE QUEEN OF FORESHADOWING. She thought of a detail (Dorian's dad's name) in the first book that would matter in the last book. Of course, there are many many many more examples of that, but if we got "We'll see." then we'll fucking see it happen.

6. Unresolved things about Manon and Dorian as individual characters.

Manon and Dorian and both pretty broken at the end of KOA.

Manon lost the Thirteen, the only people she cared about. That is a huge trauma that needs to be addressed, especially with someone so reluctant to show feelings and heal like Manon.

Dorian can't be human?? He has fae abilities due to his relation to Gavin and Elena even though he's not even called a demi-fae. He possesses powers no one else does, phantom hands for example, which he didn't steal like shape-shifting. And Maeve pointed out that due to his father being possessed by Valg when Dorian was sired, it's possible he got some of the Valg abilities. (Also she said that he's stronger than Aelin) The main villain, especially written by Queen of Foreshadowing, wouldn't just let drop it there and that's it. Also not to mention Dorian's own struggle with depression and self-worth.

They have both just become rulers of their kingdoms, completely new to it. Dorian has spent a big part of KOA imagining what kind of a king he wants to be (one that will have a witch queen hehe) and it was a major point of his character. And addition to that affecting them as characters, the future of Adarlan and Witch Kingdom could make a good plotline.

7. Other TOG characters

Although pretty much all the readers would die to see Chaorene baby, Lorcan in Perranth, Aelin and Rowan ruling Terrasen, Lysandra and Adeion officially adopting Evangeline, Nesryn and Sartaq becoming Khagan and Empress of Antica, all of these don't make enough of a plot on its own. They are great side-plots.

We know all of these characters love each other and are happy together, there isn't that much to be added to their personal stories other than kids. (same way Feyre and Rhys got a baby in Nessian book) Manorian however, they haven't even kissed without it leading to sex, they hugged at the end of KOA and it was the pique of their relationship. Their relationship is merely at the beginning, whereas others have pretty much reached their ultimatum (ofc SJM can decide to add some drama with betrayal, kidnapping, pregnancy etc. but for now everyone is good and settled beside Manorian)

Not to mention the way other relationships would affect them. Chaol, Dorian's brother, and Yrene, Manon's wannabe bestie and Manorian shipper, would bring their baby to meet his/her uncle Dorian and aunt Manon, and imagine Manon with a baby lol.

SJM loves Aelin and other characters way too much not to give us an insight on them as married couples, but since her books are huge and it's her, it needs a plot with drama, addressing traumas, repressed feelings, worldbuilding, and sex, and Manorian's got all of that.

We need more Abraxos, that's just a fact.

Wow that was a long one. Anyways, in conclusion, we're getting that Manorian book. Pretty sure it's gonna a book rather than a novella (TOD was also planned as a novella but then guess what) because there is just SO MUCH possible content.

I were to make a post trying to find a long-term rp partner(s). And forgive me this is on my blog that I haven’t used in quite awhile.
