- What hairstyle goes with your outfit? I really do like my waist lenght hair, would probably just do a half updo tied with a bow, but let's dye my hair ombre pink to fit in

- Which Rib or Rhyme team are you part of? I want to say Benishigure, but Koujaku would make me uncomfortable, not because he's a flirt, he would drop it if I asked anyway, but because he can't deny women anything. I'm probably more fit for Rhyme anyway.

- Who is your best friend? Clear is very nice and would eagerly try to make friends with me, and I'm weak to that sort of thing.

- Who would you want to date (if you date)? Aoba, fuckk all his suitors, I'm in love with him.

- Who do you want to get to know better? Ren! At least post true route, I want to see the kind of person he becomes.

Game opinions:

I kinda hated all suitors at first lmao, they all seemed annoying, of course the worst was Mink because you know.... he's Mink. But my opinion on Koujaku quickly turned at seeing how different he acted with Aoba in private.But really after playing the game I loved all the love interest and their relationships with Aoba, they're all so good.

- You get to design merch, what is it? THEY NEVER GAVE REN HIS NENDO

- What's your favorite in-game song? I really like the opening for re:connect

- Share a DMMd opinion: Huh, I had SO MANY OPINIONS, but I guess I personally dislike when people call Desire "Sly", because it often came with treating him as someone different from Aoba, when Desire stressed many times that he is Aoba. Desire is not like Ren who became his own person, he and Reason are part of a whole, they're both Aoba, so I don't like it when Desire is treated as someone else.

Back when the Yuri on Ice figure set with Victor, Yuri and Maccachin came out for pre-order from GoodSmile, I somehow accidentally ordered two sets. I wasn't able to cancel or change the order, and when they finally arrived, I was in a terrible headstate and did not manage to return the second one within the time limit. I despaired of ever selling it; I finally listed it on myfigurecollection dot net, after successfully selling an extra Victor nendo I'd pre-ordered (I need to keep better track of these things).

Last week, after two months of no interest, someone contacted me about buying the set. I was thrilled enough just to have a nibble, but when they then went on to ask if I'd had any luck with the 1/7 scale Max Factory Aoba statuette that was on my wishlist, then offered to trade that to me, I couldn't believe my luck. While I'm interested in the other DMMd figures that have come out, this is the one that I have truly yearned for. To make matters worse, I got stiffed on it twice on the site, to say nothing of the one seller who just flat-out ignored my message. So at first I thought, this has to be too good to be true, right?

Wrong. It's true, it's real and it came today. The seller (or trader, I should say) even threw in a little body pillow cover with Victor on one side and Yuri on the other, since I had to pay almost $100 to ship to the west coast, whereas their shipping was half that in the reverse. So now I have my grail figure, and I still can't quite believe it.

Nendoroid Yuuri!

Well everyone it’s already time for another figure review! I was gonna put the figma kurisu review here but tbh i was feeling pretty done after I put it on mfc so if you’re interested in that, here’s a link

Anyway, today I’ll be looking at my most recent arrival and 101st figure!

As usual, picture-heavy review under the cut! Had to bring back Aoba’s room for the background because Yuuri didn’t come with a fun insert haha

TBH I’m really gunning for the Victor nendo; at first I didn’t really think I’d want Yuuri because I like Victor more as a character lmao... but! The thought of Victor sitting all alone on my shelf without his husband just made me sad, so I decided to preorder Yuuri to keep him company. And now Yuuri has a long and lonely wait for Victor lmao

Fast forward to today, when I was finally able to grab my packages from the weekend, and Yuuri is here!! I had expected to feel a little buyer’s remorse, since I really do like Victor more--but Yuuri was extremely worth it, as you will see below~

First, let’s do a turnaround!

From the side! You can see that mine has a bit of a seam on his hair... but I don’t plan to display him with slicked-back hair, so it doesn’t really bother me.

From behind! His skirt is actually a separate piece made of flexible plastic, to allow for freedom of movement! And you get a little peek of his tiny butt.... Victor will be pleased

From the other side, you can see that the crystals extend all the way up his shoulder. His two arms are also slightly different colors, which makes it super easy to figure out which hand/arm parts go where!

Closeup on the skirt so you can see that the underside is painted red! There’s also a slight gradient on it. The details on his outfit look fantastic! Even the skates have been sculpted to the tiniest detail.

Here are all the things he came with! along with a white card that I had to put down so i wouldn’t lose the parts on my desk lmao.

He comes with quite a bit! A few arms, a bent leg, and even a tiny katsudon!

Now--let’s try some poses!

Yuuri’s “ta-da!” pose from the promotional pictures! or something like it. One thing I noticed immediately was that Yuuri has a small joint in his hips, so that you can pose him very naturally in motion! I was apprehensive at first considering other Nendos I’ve had with joints in the waist, but Yuuri is very sturdy and holds poses well.

Trying out the “Eros” face, along with a bent arm part and a bent leg. Such eros!! He looks calm and confident, ready to take home the gold! and his husband lmao

I tried replicating the hugging pose from the end of his Eros routine, but his arms aren’t that flexible haha...

Another point of interest: Like Mikazuki and Kogitsunemaru, Yuuri has an extra point of articulation in his upper arm. This allows for a much more varied range of motion!

Moving on, now let’s try...

The shocked face, along with the normal hair!! Oh no, he’s so cute!!!! 

The normal hair has a bit of an indent on the side fringe, which allows for...

The glasses to be attached! Though I think mine aren’t on straight... But otherwise, the glasses are really cute!!! I also love that the extra arm articulation allows this kind of pose to be made!

And now for my favorite option parts.... the katsudon!!! The little chopsticks are adorable, and the katsudon looks good enough to eat!! even if I dont eat pork.... chicken katsu for me, please!

The katsudon parts can also be used by other nendos, if they look natural in fingerless gloves! I almost ended up displaying Mikazuki like this, haha...

Trying out the phone part, which is where I hit the first snag... the phone popped right out of his hand!! At first I thought maybe it was supposed to do that, but then I couldn’t get the phone to stay in... I’ll have to glue it back in place, but for the sake of the review I decided to just balance it precariously. Other than that snag, it’s a cute part! The poodle phone case is a good detail.

Aoba: Hey, neighbor! Thought you might want these.

Yuuri: Oh, my glasses! Thank you. (thinking: If I’d had any more mixups on my first day I’d probably have died of embarrassment--!)

Aoba: Settling in alright?

Yuuri: Yeah. Thanks for letting me use your place for introductions...

Aoba: Anytime! You seem like a cool dude, and it’s nice to have someone my age around.

Yuuri: haha, thanks.... (thinking: this guy is the same age as me???)

Clear: Hello! You must be the new neighbor Aoba was talking about! My name is Clear. It’s nice to meet you.

Yuuri: Clear, huh? (interesting name...) I’m Yuuri Katsuki.

Clear: Katsuki-san, your outfit is very stylish. I wonder how Aoba would look in something like that?

Aoba: J-jeez, Clear, do you gotta do this in front of a guy we just met....?

Yuuri: Mmmmaybe I should go

Mink: (staring)

Yuuri: (thinking) oh jeez, this guy’s kinda scary.... what does he want?? Should I run???

Mink: (nodding, as if sure of something) Stay out of trouble, alright?

Yuuri: H-huh?? Oh... um.... thank you. (thinking: he seems scary, but... maybe he’s not so bad?)

I realized I still hadn’t done any proper faceswaps with Yuuri, so I decided to try Mikazuki’s content face.... and it’s a critical hit!!! Yuuri looks so happy to have his beloved katsudon...

Anyway, I think that’s about it for the pictures. Overall, I’m very satisfied with Yuuri! More satisfied than I thought I would be!

Tbh, I like his free skate program better than his short program (who can deny that Yuri on Ice is a good song??) so I was a little dismayed to hear that they were making a FS Yuuri nendoroid too... (and it was an exclusive, no less!). But in the end I’m glad I got this one--way more optional parts and expressions, and since I plan to display him with the glasses/casual hair, this worked out better. I’d like to own the FS version someday just to have more options, but lord knows what the aftermarket’s gonna look like on that one...

A casual clothes Yuuri was also recently announced, so I’m excited to see how that one comes out too! The skating outfits are of course iconic, but since I like taking pictures of nendos in scenes that look natural for them, it will be hard to find good backdrops for Yuuri and Victor...

Anyway, enough on that. Here’s where I’ll be displaying him for now:

He looks so lonely without Victor.... but at least he has his new friends to keep him company in the meantime!

2 of these bunnygirls are supposedly bunnyboys?  Really?  We know you can sculpt better than that, GSC. Those aren’t male Nendo body shapes. Don’t try to fool us.

I wasn't excited about the upcoming Nendoroid More "Dress-up Bunny" set because I thought it was all bunnygirls.  Which is a cute thing, but I don't know if I want to spend $55 for 6 bunnygirl outfits.  Maybe $8 for 1.  I'd pick up 1 or 2 random bunnygirls at a convention, but I don't need a whole 6-outfit set.  Color choice is nice, but I've never been *that* enamored with bunnygirls.

Then I read Good Smile's Instagram post more closely and found that 2 of the bodies were supposed to be bunnyBOYS.  Could have fooled me.  I had to look really close to see that 2 of the bodies are much more flat-chested than the rest of the set.  And granted, sweetheart necklines do emphasize the illusion of a bust.  But there's nothing else about the body to suggest a male shape.  Even the cross-dressing Nendoroid Ayasaki Hayate/Hermoine has a penis bulge in his underwear to differentiate from a female body.  And the Nendoroid Co-de Fundoshi have much less of a hip silhouette than these supposed bunnyboys.  This set's bunnyboys really look more like smaller-chested girls than actual bunnyboys.  And after Good Smile so recently announced bunnyboy scale static figures for Ten Count, it's disappointing that they wouldn't make these Nendoroid More bunnyboys look more like boys.  It's clear that Good Smile just used the same mold base for their bunnygirls, but just didn't give them much boobs.  

Still, I've seen some comments from collectors enthusiastic to put this Dress Up Bunny set onto their male Nendoroids.  And while I'd have to agree it'd be fun to put Joker (Akira Kurusu / Ren Amamiya) or Aoba Seragaki into bunny outfits, and it'd be funny to put Solid Snake or Dio into these, I'd much prefer to have bunnyboys that look more like boys, like the Ten Count designs.  They wouldn't even have to be vests and slacks like Ten Count!  Just have the bodies shaped like actual males, like the Fundoshi Nendoroid Co-de!  If the Nendoshi molds were used as the base, the sculptors probably would have saved just as much time as starting with female bases---but at least then they would have looked like actual bunnyboys.  This seems like Good Smile retroactively labelled 2 bodies as bunnyboys.  Like they were originally just flatter-chested girl options, but someone brought up the recent demand for male Nendoroids and they're just changing the marketing on the 2 flat-chested bunnygirls.  So you guys can have fun putting both the bunnygirls and supposed-bunnyboys from this set onto both your male and female Nendoroids, but I’m going to wait for a set that is actually equally bunnyboys/bunnygirls.  

Well, I think I've successfully convinced myself to save money against this new set.

The time has come: Nendoroid Mink!!!!

I’ve been wishing for a Mink nendoroid ever since I got into dmmd and fell considerably hard for Mink (who I did not expect to ever fall for???). Minao helped pull me through a particularly rough post-college patch and they remain very close to my heart, and yet, my hopes for a Mink nendo were extremely low. After all, he’s easily the least popular love interest, for pretty obvious reasons. (If you came to inform me that I should not like Mink because he’s Problematic, please leave, you’re not going to change my mind). As the months and WonFeses passed with not a peep, I pretty much lost all hope of ever seeing Mink in nendoroid form. DMMd seemed to be winding down as a franchise, and  I resigned myself to a Minkless existence. At least my other DMMd best boy got a nendoroid, so my Aoba didn’t have to be alone. And I did find a tiny Mink figure during my last trip to Japan, so I supposed that would suffice.

When GSC announced that Mink was finally getting a nendo I literally cried real tears

Anyway, enough blubbering, time to get to the review, which is what you all came here for

As you can see in the above photo, he comes with a cardboard background depicting his room from the game. Aoba and Clear both came with similar backgrounds, as well as Koujaku and Noiz (who I don’t own). While I personally would have liked his room from DMMd Re:Connect, this room fits this version of the character much better. (I prefer Re:Connect Mink overall, but I’m not about to be a choosy beggar!!)

Here he is from the side. Tiny details like his bracelet, the rips on his coat, and the chains just barely poking out from his sleeve have all been captured faithfully.

From the back. The seam on his coat and the buttons are both there. His ponytail is also sculpted nicely.

From this side, you can see his bare arm. The chibi form doesn’t have much leeway for muscles, but you can see that there is a very slight shape to them. You can also see that a few of his dreds are tucked behind his ear. I didn’t get it in this shot, but just below his ear you can see the faintest hint of his braids.

For such a tiny figure, he’s very detailed--it’s just like Orange Rouge to get all the details down. However, like Aoba, his collar isn’t actually attached--it falls right off anytime you remove his head. I know this is done to preserve freedom of movement, but it seems a clunky choice when OR has made such good use of flexible plastic on other nendos. Luckily, unlike Aoba, it’s possible to switch his expression without removing his head--minimizing the amount you have to deal with his collar.

His little boots are so detailed!! It’s hard to tell in this photo, but his jeans are also torn just like on his official art. You can also see that his coat pinches in just slightly at the waist. The details are amazing!

Like Aoba, Mink came with his All-mate, Tori. Mink came with a stand for Tori too, but he’s actually balanced enough to stand by himself.

Tori’s head is articulated, so you can pose him just slightly.

Here’s what all Mink came with. Many hands holding tiny things! He came with only one extra expression for himself, and the other is for Aoba. I’m a little sad they chose to go that route, as I really would have liked to see a smiling expression (like this one) in the mix, and Mink’s skin color makes it hard for him to face swap. I wonder if they were worried he wouldn’t sell without some kind of incentive, orz....

from this angle both of those faces look vaguely sexual lmao...

Here he is next to the tiny Mink I got in Nakano. Tiny Mink is cute and all, but.... man, I’m just so happy we got a nendo!!!

A closer view of his hair. The gradient in his dreds is really nice, but I kind of wish they were more matte.... (though the light in my room is pretty strong)

Alright, time to try out some alternate parts!

First, the pipe! Probably my favorite accessory. It looks really cute in his hand!

Though, trying to pose him also brought up a slight issue: his hair isn’t made of flexible plastic either. His dreds really limit his range of movement ><

I kind of wish he was flexible enough to display it off to the side a little, but oh well...

In this shot, you can see that his nose is sculpted more prominently than that of other nendos.

When I was setting up for the next shot, the little knife fell right out of Mink’s hand--it turns out it’s not actually attached! I bet I can make other characters hold it too...

The knife and folded arm are for recreating the scene where he finally gets his revenge on Toue! (I couldn’t find a good resolution of the alternate ver where his eyes are closed, whoops). The blood on the knife is almost sickeningly lifelike!! 

The interesting thing about this expression is that it can be used to convey a variety of different emotions. From this angle, it almost looks like he’s praying for forgiveness....

.... but from this angle, he just looks angry! Or, rather, exasperated. Maybe he’s tired of Aoba’s antics...

Side note, I love how his lil fingers are sculpted ;u;

Now, on to the Aoba expression!

What a look! It’s of course based on a pivotal scene in Mink’s route (though uh, fair warning, image in that link might be a bit disturbing)

Behind the scenes of the previous shot lmao... The nendos’ proportions make more complex shots a little harder (see also: me trying to make them kiss)

It required a bit of fenagling to get this shot to line up. Since their bases are too wide, I had to go without...

However, the “strangling” hand has other uses too! Here it looks like he’s extending a hand to help Aoba with something!

Here he is reciting shakespeare (lol)

It’s fun to have all three of them together, too! Though since Clear’s so bright, it can be hard to get the exposure down--either Clear’s washed out, or Mink is obscured in shadow lmao...

Clear: Aoba-san, be careful! That kind of scary person is here...

Aoba: Oh!! Mink!! I’ve been waiting for you!!

Mink: Oh, it’s you. And, uh... your friend?

Aoba: You’ve met Clear before, Mink. 

Tori: That’s the one you used to call “Gasmask”.

Mink: .... oh. right. I think I remember someone like that. (doesn’t really care)

Aoba: You haven’t seen Clear without his mask on before, have you? No wonder you didn’t recognize him.

Clear: Hm, well, if Aoba-san doesn’t think you’re a threat, then... Mink-san, I hope we can get along from here.

Aoba: Ahhh, it’s so good to finally see you! I’ll have to catch you up on everything, and there’s tons of stuff I have to show you--!

Mink: Um--it’s fine, but t-thank you.... (isn’t used to being welcomed)

Tori: Sigh... You can relax once in a while, Mink....

Mink: Can I... ask you about something?

Aoba: Sure.

Mink: Why the warm welcome? You can’t have forgotten what I did to you.

Aoba: Well, no...

Mink: Then... why? After all I did to make sure you’d hate me; that there would be no one to mourn me after--

Aoba: Hey, hey, Mink, hold it.

Aoba: There’s no use wallowing in a past that can’t change. It’s been three years, and I know you’re not that horrible person anymore. So... let’s get a fresh start, alright? Now that you’re here, I’m looking forward to getting to know the person you really are. The “real” Mink. 

Mink: I don’t.... what

Aoba: After what happened, I felt like I didn’t understand you at all. It was really, really bothering me, because I’m the kind of idiot who needs to know why people act the way they do. I want to get closer to you, and understand you better. So... I guess that’s why I want to help you feel at home here.

Mink: .... you deserve better than me....  Aoba...

Aoba: Maybe. But you’re the one I want, so, tough.

Mink: ..... ///////
