The Parallels Between Agents of SHIELD's Uprising Arc and RWBY's Fall of Beacon Arc

Honestly, as a fan of both, it surprised me how much they have in common. Now, for those of you who've only seen one or the other, here's some background. Warning, lots of spoilers.

The Uprising arc for Agents of SHIELD (AoS), as promotional material liked to name it, was episodes 1x16 - 1x22 (season finale). The events of those episodes ran alongside the plot of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where Nazi organization HYDRA was found to be inside of spy organization SHIELD since SHIELD's inception. This arc of the show was written with the movie in mind.

RWBY's Fall of Beacon arc was episodes 3x07 - 3x12 (volume finale). This arc was planned from the inception of the show and the first two and a half volumes spent building up to it. It culminated in the annihilation of the Beacon Academy (the main set location up to this point in the show), the destruction of worldwide communications, and a lot of other things.

I was rewatching the Fall of Beacon arc all over again the other day and it hammed home just how much these shows had in common. They both have:

An arc in the back half of the season/volume that completely change the trajectory of the show HYDRA reveal and the dissolution of SHIELD (Uprising) Maidens/Salem reveal and the Destruction of Beacon (Fall of Beacon)

This arc takes place between one episode titled End of the Beginning (AoS 1x16, RWBY V3 finale) and another titled Beginning of the End (AoS S1 Finale, RWBY 3x07)

A popular main character gets badly injured Fitz gains a traumatic brain injury Yang loses an arm

This character is then separated from their future love interest, and believes they were abandoned by them Fitz by Simmons Yang by Blake

Crazy obsessed boys working with the bad guys who can't let go of the girl and become worse with their obsession later on in the show Grant Ward (with Skye) Adam Taurus (with Blake)

First semi official appearance of a "missing" family member of one of the main characters in the finale. They officially appear in the following season/volume having a temporary alliance with the series antagonists. AoS ending scene has Skye's dad, Cal, cameo (just his hand is shown) RWBY has Yang's mom, Raven, cameo (in bird form) outside Yang's window

One of the main character's are "special" Skye is one of several characters who were given alien blood to heal from the brink of death and the only one who didn't have a negative reaction to it. Her origins at this point are unknown to everyone, including herself. Ruby's Silver Eyes are revealed to be able to neutralize monsters known as Grimm with a flash of light from her eyes

Both of these character's "Special" traits are passed down from their mothers and put a target on their heads Skye is later revealed to be an Inhuman and gets superpowers. The inhuman genes were passed down from her mother, Jiaying. At various points in the show, inhumans are locked up/killed due to their powers, dissected in the name of experimentation, or used by others like weapons. Ruby's silver eyes are a rare trait passed down by her mother, Summer Rose. These silver eyes make her a target of Grimm Queen Salem, who has historically hunted down and killed Silver Eyed Warriors (SEWs). In recent years, she has also done experiments on SEWs to transform them into Grimm.

Betrayal Grant Ward tricked the rest of his team. He was HYDRA all along RWBY and Co had thought Cinder and her team were just transfer students when they had been placed there to bring the school down

Good Guys figure out what's going on too late Skye only realizes Grant Ward is HYDRA after discovering Agent Eric Koenig's body and recognizing Ward was the only one who could have killed him (the two of them are the only ones remaining in the Base). Ruby starts piecing things together when realizing Emerald is still in town (not leaving with her injured teammate as Ruby's team was told earlier) and seeing Mercury (Emerald's teammate who should have had a leg injury) unharmed. Sadly, she is unable to stop their plan from going into motion and Penny Polendina is killed.

Season baddie who dies and then returns in some form during the latest/last season John Garrett, whose past self showed up in S7 Roman Torchwick, who appeared via Neo's illusions in V9

Big guy in charge assumed to be Killed In Action, later revealed to be alive Nick Fury Professor Ozpin (Ozma)

I know some of this information was revealed in later Seasons/Volumes, but it was at least starting to be set up during the arcs I mentioned.

There's probably more similarities I haven't thought of, but man was there a lot just off the top of my head.

If they aren’t what they are made from and they aren’t the differences what the fuck are they?

Is Briar falling in love with Cinders *Briar* loving Cinders? Or is it the Rose in them? And does Cinders actually love Briar or does she love that she’s almost Rose?

How do you be your own person when everything about you is that way because of a select few people who made you that way?

Aside that she is also a half-blood. Her mom's the pureblood and dad's a muggleborn.

Mom's a researcher and taught Neilya a few spells before she went to Hogwarts (reason why she's a menace with Incendio) and Pop's is a magizoologist who made Neilya hyperfixate on magical creatures. And magical creatures are cool

7. So protective of her loved ones, she is. Her grandmother, Lola Eli, taught her the Alvarez family belief to be strong enough to protect their relatives/loved ones no matter what to any extent, and she helps Neilya be strong enough to do so. So sweet of her huh?

8. Last! ^^ Her nicknames are Nel, Nelsy, and Iya. Altho Iya is just for her mom and her side of the family cause it sounds like iha lol.

making more WOF AUs of things I like

this time it’s the Red Queen and Lunar Chronicles books

First up Red Queen. Some dragons have red blood. But animus dragons have silver blood. If an animus has an egg with a non animus, they get a non animus dragonet. This has resulted in silver blooded dragons considering themselves elite and only breeding other silver blooded dragons. Species has nothing to do with it, all that matters is the blood. In this AU, no dragons can breathe fire or ice breath, and RainWings don’t have any of their abilities either. In fact, even fire wielding dragons can’t make their own fire. They have to carry striker stones with them on their wrists and tails to start a spark. Stronger animus mating pairs means stronger dragonets. But maybe these silver blooded animus dragons have been covering something up, maybe red blooded dragons can wield animus magic too. Some even more powerful than theirs…

Mare Barrow: Sky/Night/Mud/Leaf. Her NightWing traits are most dominant. Red blooded. Can wield lightning, which is purple in color.

Shade Barrow: Sky/Night/Mud/Leaf. SkyWing traits most dominant. Can teleport short distances. Very speedy.

Maven Calore: Sky/Ice. He’s a good mix, but his IceWing traits are quite noticeable when compared to his brother. Very Pale. Fire wielder, his fire is blue.

Tiberias Calore VII: Sky/Sand. But you’d honestly never tell, he looks nearly 100% SkyWing. Fire wielded with red fire. Definitely dad’s favorite due to his SkyWing predominance.

Evangeline Samos: Hive/Rain. She’s a good mix, perfectly balanced. Metal wielder. Tbh one of my favorite characters I love her sass.

I’ll come up with more when I start my re-read after finishing Iron Flame (almost done).

Now the Lunar Chronicles: A long time ago, ancient dragons developed a way for travel in space with great flying machines. This allowed a subset of the population to colonize the moon. This was before the dragon species had fully settled into modern day. The dragons who left for the moon became what are now called NightWings. The radiation of the moon, which was unknown to the dragons until many years of living there, granted them with special powers to manipulate others impressions of them. Some can read minds and catch glimpses of the future. Powerful dragons can even control or manipulate others. Dragons living back on the home planet have become very wary of these so called NightWings or Lunar Dragons. They hardly ever come down from their moon, but when they do it always causes trouble. All the dragons in this AU retain their abilities. But all NightWings essentially have some form of power/animus magic. HiveWings simply evolved on their own without any NightWing genes. (I’m not set on them actually living on the moon yet, I may just have them live on another continent far away that is very exposed to the moon/moons and/or was made by a large chunk of old moon falling? Either way they get super moon exposure and are pretty isolated)

Linh Cinder: She’s a pure NightWing, however (and this is to better fit the AU and not have dragons immediately know she’s a NightWing) she’s leucistic. So she has very pale scales to begin with, moon blessed as her mother called her. She was also horribly burned as a hatchling, resulting in her being a cyborg dragon and nearly unrecognizable as a NightWing. She has an inhibitor chip blocking her abilities. Most dragons assume she is a mutt of many different tribes from the home planet, definitely some Ice and Sand and Rain and maybe Hive? She’s the long lost Princess if the NightWings, Selene. Scarlet Benoit-Kesley: Sky/Sand/Rain. And just a sprinkle of Night, which is unknown to her. She doesn’t have any ability of the NightWings. she’s a very skilled fighter, non-poisonous barbed tail and no venom or color change, but that doesn’t stop her from being deadly.

Crescent Moon Darnel: Night/Hive. She is a ‘shell’ or a NightWing without abilities. (Technically she’s a full blooded lunar in the books, but her mom is mysterious and unnamed. It was always my headcannon that her mom was either from earth or had some earthness to her, and I think she’d be a cute little Night/Hive hybrid) Wicked smart, a hacker. Pretty shy. But very loyal. Used to work for the Queen, but not anymore!

Winter Blackburn-Hayle: pure NightWing. Considered very beautiful by NightWing standards. Aka dark scales. She was forced to mutilate her own face by her step mother the Queen when she was a dragonet, resulting in three scars on the right side of her face. Does not ever use her NightWing powers Wolf: Night/Mud. From one of the packs of dragons the NightWings bred specifically for protection. They wanted the strength of MudWings with the loyalty to the NightWing throne. No special abilities, but very very strong.

Queen Levena Blackburn: Pure NightWing. Also very very very powerful in terms of NightWing gifts. Can control hundreds of dragons at a time. Uses her power to shield her true appearance due to flame burns on the majority of her left side. She’s very vain. And very evil. Cinder’s Aunt and Winter’s stepmother.

Wahoooooo. Who knows what obsession will be WOFed next. Stay tuned.

How many books have you written?

This is a fair question. Any new reader who finds my work on a store isn’t going to immediately know that I have other pennames, or that I frequently publish short stories in magazines. The reader who stumbles over my fanfiction on AO3 isn’t going to know I have flash fiction on Tumblr or even a website.

To keep track of all my work, I have a spreadsheet that notes the title, what penname, when I finished it, how long it is, and where I’ve first published it. It has more details, but the important part is I can open that spreadsheet and scroll down and down and tell you…

I have written 116 things.

These things are a mix of novels, novellas, and short stories. They don’t include my fanfiction or flash fiction. Most of these things are available for purchase—although a few are on submission or just waiting in line to be published.

Blake in her angstiest state isn't a terribly reliable source, but yeah, Ghira's solely peaceful methods didn't work... that's why he stopped using solely peaceful methods and instead made a whole militia to take down Adam. And no, Sienna was the one who started the violence, not Adam.

No, don't strawman me. Disproving racist ideas and ideologies is, once again, a good thing. There's no spin you can put on that to make it a bad thing without being racist yourself. The show doesn't say that this is the only method you can use to achieve equality, it blatantly says it doesn't have a method and that this method won't make hate go away, but even if it helps a little bit, it's worth it. Stop treating it like the show is saying this is the best and only way you can counter racism, because that's not the message at all, it VERY blatantly doesn't have a message on how to counter racism.

Adam's whole goal was vengeance. That's what he takes too far. He was happy to work for Cinder once he found out about what her actual plan was, and even when Cinder was no longer there, he kept working with Salem's people.

He's also blatantly racist and wants to have humanity serving the Faunus.

Adam: We can win a war against the humans. Not only because we have the support of Hazel's master, but because the Faunus are the dominant species of this planet. We're better than humans. We have everything humans have and more. Humans shouldn't just fear the Faunus, they should serve the Faunus.

So... yeah. That's pretty evil.

Faunus are absolutely standing up for themselves by disproving racist ideas. Taking down Adam disproves the idea that all the Faunus are bloodthirsty terrorists and that the White Fang is too. Once again, disproving racist ideologies is a good thing. I doubt you'd say an irl POC disproving ideologies isn't standing up for themselves.

Faunus using violence led to them being feared, but Adam takes it too far in the sense that his violence no longer creates fear, it creates hate, and Adam is used to generalize the Faunus and justify racism. By taking him down, Faunus prove that they aren't bloodthirsty monsters hell bent on revenge, and disprove a racist lie. I still have no fucking idea why you are so against this. Disproving racist ideas is always good. Once again, the show doesn't say that this is the only way to achieve equality, not once, it blatantly says it doesn't have a method to achieve equality, so don't treat it like the show is saying this is the only good way to achieve equality. It's one way to HELP curb the spread of racist ideas, and that's what the show treats it as.

Yeah, violence speaks, that's why Ghira taking down Adam using a Faunus militia speaks. I don't know where you're getting the idea that I think all the solely peaceful methods were working cause I know damn well they weren't. It's explicitly stated that Sienna's methods are what worked, and Ghira takes after Sienna's methods by using violence to take down Adam, since violence speaks. In this case, the message of the violence is that Adam isn't a representative of the Faunus.

People hated the Faunus before Adam, yes, but the Faunus didn't make themselves heard when they disproved racist ideologies. Violence speaks, and Ghira knows this, so he assembles the Faunus militia to take down Adam through violent means, and in the end it does come to that, Sun and Blake have to fight Adam.

Violence speaks, and before this the Faunus weren't speaking loud enough. Now, they've done something that's impossible to ignore, and because they actually did something instead of solely peaceful protests, their voices have been heard.

I have no idea where you got the idea that the message of the show frames Adam as being evil for absolutely nothing. He literally has a brand on his face. He's evil because of how cruelly he was treated, but that doesn't excuse his actions. He's still evil, he's still causing harm to the Faunus, and he has to be stopped. RWBY doesn't make him a generic villain, he has a whole short going into detail about how he was radicalized, has the brand on his face to show how it all started, and even has a whole other side of his character - a control freak. The message never says Adam is bad just because he's always been bad, where are you getting that idea? He is a byproduct of racism, but that doesn't matter, he still has to be stopped.

Once again, strawman. I never said tell don't show is good writing. It isn't, but considering Gray G. Haddock siphoned all their money, they really didn't have a choice but to tell. No budget to show how regular Faunus are doing cause Gray took all their money. They did the best they could with the shitty hand they had.

It's explicitly said that Sienna's methods did work and the Faunus were being treated like equals. Nothing is done with her, I never denied that. CRWBY themselves said they were naive about racism, they knew their limits, knew they'd fuck it up if they kept Sienna alive, so... they killed her off.

No, once again, media literacy is dead. Blake is saying that if you let someone speak for you and you're not happy about what they say yet do nothing to stop them, you're complacent. Silence is complacency. She never once says Adam is the only reason people think the Faunus are bad, either. That's literally something you made up.

"She’s literally going, he’s making us look bad, Adam and Adam alone is why people are racist and hate us so we have to stand up against him to show the racists that him being a bad minority isn’t how we all are."

This is a completely and utter lie, nowhere does she say Adam is the only reason people are racist. PLEASE watch the show or read the transcript. This is actually pitiful. She doesn't blame the Faunus for how they are viewed, either, she blames them for not doing anything to stop the spread of racist ideas... cause silence is complacency.

Ilia forced her to light the fire by using her Faunus ability to disguise. In order to see her, and, you know, not get murdered, she had to make light.

She also never blames it on the White Fang, she point at her house and said Faunus did this, which isn't a lie. Faunus lit the house on fire in a desperate attempt to stop Faunus from killing them.

And I think the fact that sienna, the white fang civil rights leader who actually cared about the cause but was willing to use violence to achieve it gets killed off and her worldview barely gets acknowledge

Also I think crwby straight up compared the white fang to the black panther movement/organization?

Wether we want it to or not the show did initially frame the white fang subplot as violence vs non-violence

Plus ghira getting mad tgat adam killed a member of a lynch mob because “this is why they think they can” tells me ghira is on sone level focused in what humans think of Faunus,

Not helping that ghira gets put in charge again without having changed whatsoever

I hate to say it but intentionally or not, the idea that an oppressed minority need to “prove themselves” in any way to their oppressors is kinda racist, it’s at least problematic

Heck it’s a double standard “that we see in the real world as well” that Faunus can be branded like Adam or killed in mines like ilia’s parents to by humans like Jacques, yet humans as a whole don’t need to “prove” they aren’t him,

Because, quite frankly, most humans are entirely permissive of what Jacques and the SDC do

Yeah, Sienna's worldview is barely acknowledged. That's part of the failure to discuss racism and if responding to it with violence is justified or not.

Barbara Dunkleman, who is not a writer, said this

Barbara Dunkelman: Yeah.

Faunus are related to the American civil rights movement. They're certainly not viewed as poorly as African American people were viewed in the 50s and 60s, but they are still viewed and treated poorly and it is still based off of the American Civil Rights movement.

It's not 1:1 Black Panthers though. Sienna KINDA reminds me of them but not too much, Adam definitely doesn't.

The only time it was framed as violence vs nonviolence was in Blake's talk with Sun about why she left. As mentioned, that talk is about why she left, not what the White Fang is doing now. Even as early as Volume 1 and 2 it was clear that the White Fang wasn't fighting for equality.

Blake: The White Fang is hardly a bunch of psychopaths. They're a collection of misguided Faunus.

Weiss: Misguided? They want to wipe Humanity off the face of the planet!

Blake: So then they're very misguided. Either way, it doesn't explain why they would rob a Dust shop in the middle of downtown Vale!

Roman: I'm glad you asked, "Deery"! Now, I'll be the first to admit, humans... are the worst. Case in point. So, I understand why you would like to see us all locked away, or, better yet, killed!

So yeah, the White Fang was always an organization dedicated to just killing and hurting humans. In the past, it fought for equality, which is shown in Volume 1 through Blake's backstory, but it's never states that the White Fang currently fights for equality. The reason Blake left is that she didn't want to take part in the violence anymore (she never says they were wrong to resort to violence though, she just personally didn't want to be the one pulling the trigger), but the goal of the White Fang is no longer equality, as evidenced by Weiss and Roman.

Ghira wasn't upset that Adam fought back, he was upset when it got lethal. Ghira has a point, by killing humans, you're giving the humans an excuse to hate you more, regardless of how justified it was. It's something you wanna avoid at all costs. It's unfortunate, but it's the truth.

Ghira is put in charge of the White Fang again, only after he assembles an entire army to stop a terrorist attack in the making. I think it's pretty clear that he's past all the solely peaceful stuff.

The message is that the Faunus need to dispel racist ideas by proving them incorrect. I don't see how that's racist or problematic. Minorities should play a part in proving racist ideologies wrong.

Bear in mind that the Faunus aren't "proving themselves" as in repenting for past mistakes and whatnot, they're "proving themselves" as in "your racist idea that the Faunus are all murderers and terrorists is wrong." No Faunus apologizes for how the White Fang treats humanity. The whole thing is basically a big "you're blatantly wrong" to racist generalization that is extremely hard to ignore.

I don't see how it's racist to promote minorities proving racist ideologies wrong.

Humans in the show already prove that they aren't like Jacques by literally arresting him. They don't condone his exploitation. Hell, his own daughter doesn't condone it.

Most humans are, but by proving racist ideas wrong, the hope is that they will become less racist and ultimately oppose Jacques.

I adore the lore you gave for angels, but I have a question what’s the deal with demons? We’ve already seen one example from the store owner in your comic (I’m sorry I forgot his name), but how do they function in your world’s society? From what I can gather via the dialogue, it sounds like demons live on the fringe of society. Also, is there a difference between fallen angels and demons, or are they the same but with different names?

hmhm gOOD QUESTION i think since Real Angels™ are strictly up in heaven and don't go into the world physically thus not really having any opportunity to turn into a fallen angel ~anymore~ . The only time fallen angels were "fallen angels" is when, assuming in the whole biblical theories n shit, when lucifer got kicked out all the other angels that followed him got kicked out as well thus making them the fallen angels. Since this was like before all time n all that, my theory is it's similar to the whole evolution thing where the fallen angels evolved throughout time and now they're basically all demony now for example the fallen angels are to all the demons now as the pakicetus is to the current whale and all its variations currently- where hell/world is the ocean in this scenario lmfao:

Like the fallen angels possibly adapted to the separate layers of hell and the conditions of them AND since they can go on the world they possibly adapted to the locations they were in on the earth as well. Plus since the pakicetus didnt Just evolve to be like the whale currently and there’s other types of animals around from evolving differently same goes for the demons hence why they can look so different (also with having other species mixed in since like half of these are half demon):

SO that being said fallen angels are probably all dead by now and all that is mostly around are just different formed demons WHICH by the way i think that demons can have different life spans depending on what kind of demons they are. As far as functioning in society goes i think they’re kinda just like any other monster??? Dante could’ve taken 300 years to establish a good store bc he’s Just A Humble Store Owner or there could’ve been societal issues that contributed to his store not getting bigger by now since when Ramsuse got turned into a demon back in the yeehaw tingy tang cowboy days he was completely outcast and his wife was even deemed insane for trying to tell people her husband got turned into a Horrible Monster sO there were ofc some issues back then but overall today they’re just like everyone else i mean Ollie won the world skateboarding championship and lives in some suburban neighborhood pissing off all the soccer moms (probably deliberately) with all his gothery  so yeah it just depends bUT yeah thats my Wacky theory about how demons work in my universe it may be Omg thats not how any of this works have u even picked up a book in uR LIFE??? but hey i pulled half of it out of my ass admittedly and it seems to work for me so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ THX 4 THE ASK!!

both of these individuals have been up to some nefarious deeds as of late, and it is sickening to see other people not stricking down these foul individuals despite their behavior.

i am here to bring the word of the Truth to all ye who witness, that these two beings have done suchs things as:

impersonation, blackmail, bribery, trasphobia, treason, threatening my good being, ruining the livelihood of hard working men, merging, stealing art or falsely claiming other people’s art as their own, threats, autistic, gross disregard for others hyperfixations, and not limited to these (etc)

i am certain that these two (or soon to be one) will quickly retailate against me and attempt to make it out that i am making false claims about their person(s) despite the fact that i have much evidence to prove that THEY have been doing these horrible things and thinking they are about the consequences. just because you have two minds within one body does not mean that you can’t be held accountable for your previous individual bodies’ actions.

this event occurred roughly in the middle of Sucklet’s art theft accusation arc, where it tries to claim that the horny police (alter ego The Shining Diamond) stole its art when her signature is very clearly on the art piece in question. this is an attempt to undermine the talents of other artists in order to boost its own pathetic self view

and these is where sucklet tried to make a lovely delightful little fun RP that they and i had been having into an NSFW rp immediately without prior discussing with me and when i tried to redirect what was happening they just kept godmodding my character into having hot gay sex (it was relaly good but thats besides the point)

this is just one example of the first of many times they began attempting to dodge any and all consequences

i tried to confront sucklet about its outrageous behavior and it denied that it had done any of these things in the first place, with no evidence to back up any sort of forgery or edited messages or going into discord on the website and using the inspector to change what the messages said or anything of that sort that i would never ever do in my life because i am a nice benevolent good person

moonchemistry (also known as their alter ego Cinder Fall Sex Haver, and their lesser known alter ego janiel) attemped to take my life today, when they had found out that i was drafting this callout post about them they came to me in DMs and assaulted and battered me. i was scarcely able to escape with my life, and they absconded with most of my evidence folder on them (hence most of the screenshots are about chingx1969 (also known as its alter ego sucky fucky wucky, aka king fucklet, aka sucklet))

as they are a hivemind, sucklet quickly (instantly) learned the same knowledge as chem and attempted to threaten me at the same time in a pincer attack known as the merger double wombo combo extraordinaire (ver. 2)

clearly the only thing there is to do about this dangerous individual is to put them down. they have gone too far and are beyond recovery or change. the merging process is nearly complete, and if we do not stop them now they will evolve beyond petty things like mortality.

No one should be treated like this, convinced they're just a weapon, not even shown the slightest bit of sympathy. How would you like it if you were one of them, forced to train endlessly, pass her little tests or be punished and starved, or have your memory wiped. I know she believes she has good reasons to do these things, but I could never torture children, even if it would save the world. What about you, what do you get out of this?

“007 is responding well to the treatments, it’s arm is regrowing at an impressive rate,” Watts says, smiling down at Cinder through the clear walls of the pod. She snarls up at him, her face in a rictus of pain. “As you can see, already it’s avian genes are already growing a replacement limb, much as they did for 002 and 006 when their legs grew in.”

Watts smiles, and drums his fingers on the glass. “If progress continues in this manner, it should be well enough to repeat this process with its leg in a matter of days!”

He turns to face you, frowning. “And there’s no need to feel bad for it, 007 consented to this procedure.” Watts goes back to his work. “As much as an animal can consent to anything, of course.”

Its funny, I'm not as into rvb as I used to be (not very much at all rn), but my favorite character from this new fixation of mine is clearly antagonistic, yet still a friend/the best friend of the MC of 6 of the games... I think the changed me a bit... You can't stan Gene and be the same afterwords

Its definitely changed me, im wayy less concerned about what characters I like and what is technically morally right or wrong in fiction (to a degree, there's still some stuff I disagree with in fiction), ive just really learned to love evil characters, not even just "morally grey" ones, fully evil, totally despicable characters. (*cough* Felix *cough*)

And sometimes I even sympathise with them or think about how fun it would be if they were "redeemed", and Idc at all if thats "problematic" 😌

Also I care way less about hurting people's feelings with it, especially when it comes to female characters, like with cinder in rwby I used to be like "I guess its understandable if you dont like cinder but personally I like her" but with South for example im just like "actually if you hate South ur wrong" bc why not lmao

And I think its a good thing, to be honest! Why not enjoy all the characters in a show? Why not indulge in an evil or morally grey character? Its all just fun and games 😊

Alex gritted her teeth hard enough that she thought she might crack the enamel. She was trying to study for an anatomy test but was being distracted by what sounded like a cattle stampede upstairs. The random shouts of “Ole!” were only making it worse. Each time it ended in laughter and would quiet for a bit, and each time Alex hoped it was the last time. It was not.

Her pencil snapped in her hand as another round of pounding feet resounded through the house. “Okay, enough!” Alex took the stairs two at a time, her blood boiling as she prepped for an epic dressing down of her idiot sister and her sister’s idiot friend. She threw the door to her sister’s bedroom open, not even giving the occupants the courtesy of knocking since they’d shown her no courtesy in their actions. What she saw stopped her cold before even the first word of her prepared epic rant got out.

Lena waved Kara’s cape about, stomping her feet up and down like some drugged out matador. In turn, Kara stood off to the side with a finger pointed up on each side of her head, pawing at the ground with a foot and huffing out breath through her flared nostrils. As soon as Lena stopped and shook the cape to her side, Kara charged. The result was a spin with a shout of “Ole” on Lena’s part, as Kara brushed the ends of the twirling cape with her ‘horns’. Kara landed on the bed with raucous laughter, Lena soon to follow her there in similar good humor.

“What the fuck are you two doing?”

Both girls looked up, smiling and unabashed at being caught doing… whatever it was they were doing.

“Oh, hey, Alex,” Kara said with a growing smile as Lena slid in closer and used her stomach as a pillow. “Lena found my cape.”

“I see that.” This was not how Alex had imagined Kara coming out to Lena as Supergirl. Alex tried very hard to imagine it never happening, though the longer the friendship of the two girls lasted, the closer they became, it seemed more like a when and not and if the secret would be revealed. “So you two were just… Yeah, I got nothing. My original question stands. What the fuck are you up to?”

“We’re playing bullfighter, silly,” Lena’s eyes glinted and her nose crinkled as if Alex’s question was the absurdity and not their actions, “just like you and Kara do.”

“Just like Kara and I… Kara?” Alex was already regretting dealing with this instead of just going to the library. Why did she have to inherit the Danvers’ gene that loved confrontation?

“Yeah, I had left it on my bed from when we played bullfighter earlier, remember, Alex? Lena found it, so I told her how much fun you and I had playing. She wanted to play too.”

Lena nodded eagerly, lapping up the lie like a cat with a bowl of cream. “She was right. It is fun.”

So many thoughts ran through Alex’s mind, a veritable dog pile of incoherencies that would do nothing to improve this situation for anyone. Instead of sharing them, she removed the cape from Lena’s arms and folded it over her own. “Well, the fun is over. I’m studying for midterms. Why aren’t you two?”

“Eh, school is easy,” Kara said. “Lena and I just have Calculus midterms tomorrow. It’s not like we need to study for those.” It was a statement to which Lena nodded along.

“Well, we mere mortals do need to study, so keep it down.”

Alex had just stepped a foot into the door when Kara said, “Alex, close the door behind yourself, okay?”

So she did, well, mostly closed it before pushing it open again to eye, with uncertainty, the duo lying on the bed. “I thought Mom said you had to keep it open when you had someone over.”

“Just boys,” Kara explained. “Why would the door have to be open when it’s just me and Lena in here?”

And that was a conversation Alex wasn’t ready to have, so she pulled the door shut, her eyes rolling so far back in her head that she swore she saw pink, and muttered, “Okay, lesbians.” As she headed back downstairs to relative quiet, she patted the cape hanging over her arm. Her clueless genius of a sister had found the person who might be more clueless and a bigger genius among every human on Earth. They were a perfect match, and Alex looked forward to being a bride’s maid if light ever shone on either of their cinder block heads.
