Further thoughts.
There is a tendency to write settings - particularly for interactive media like ttrpgs, larps, etc - that are essentially gender-blind, where you can create whoever you want without that having an effect on the game. The decision to be gay, or a woman, or trans, or a gay trans woman with pink hair is an aesthetic choice that will not give you a meaningfully different experience in the game.
This rather kneecap's the setting's ability to tell queer stories, imho. If we take it as read that queerness refers to gender- and sexuality-based identities and behaviours that fall outside of the societal norms, then the experience of falling outside those societal norms is (rather tautologically) a key element of queerness.
So, in a completely gender-blind setting, one can't - tautologically - be gender-nonconforming. There is no expectation to conform to. The experience of queerness, of being outside of societal norms, becomes null and void. Such a setting will feature homosexuality, but it won't feature gay pride, and nor will it need to as none of the societal forces that led to the pride movement exist.
This is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, a world where one is not oppressed for one's identity is an enjoyable world to explore for what should be obvious reasons. On the other hand, it becomes impossible to tell (say) a coming-out story in a world where there's no closet to be in to begin with.
There is also the element that whilst a setting may say its gender-blind, it's still written and played in by people from the real world, who still subconsciously inherit real-world biases, and this can be reflected in the world.
While (say) women might have just as much right to political power as men, if in practice the people with political power are disproportionately men, that sexism is still present. Far from removing it, the gender-blindness of the setting simply obfuscates it, and often actively proves an obstacle to addressing it; one cannot call somebody out in character for sexism in a setting where sexism doesn't exist, no matter how sexist they're being.
(Similar biases around sexuality, transness, polyamory, kink, aceness, etc also creep in).
(In many cases, this can also apply to other axes of marginalisation, such as race, etc. However, in a lot of settings this doesn't apply the same way. Many fantasy settings are deeply opinionated about a character's ancestry; see the D&D skull-callipers explaining that elves are just more intelligent and agile than everybody else, and this being a mechanically enforced fact in the world.)
My point, anyway, is that in these cases efforts towards inclusivity can paradoxically erase that which they seek to include. One cannot represent the lived experience of a marginalised identity in a setting that totally denies the existence of that marginalisation.

I just got the weirdest hate comment. Basically, this woman who has loved all my stories and commented on them for months found out I'm a cis man. And now she hates my F/F stories. She's now decided they're "fetish fuel" for "your lesbian kink" and "you probably write with one hand down your pants".
None of these stories have steamy scenes. One, I suck at writing those. A lot. A lot a lot. Two, the women are busy saving the world. That's stressful and stress makes some people's horniness go way down, so I always assumed they wouldn't be in the mood until the villain is defeated, you know? Three, some of these stories have middle school aged characters and I find people older than me hot, so I have literally, truly not thought once against their sex lives. I assumed they were going on dates like I was at 13 - movies, hang out at the mall, playing video games, that stuff. Nobody I knew was getting laid at 13. (I didn't get laid until I was 20, personally, but idk what the statistics on that are.)
So it's really weird that she's suddenly angry at me. I know most of the fans of the show are women. I get why she assumed I was one. Totally valid. Statistically that makes sense. It's the jump from "you are male" to "you're getting off to this" that I don't get. Don't get me wrong, I know some guys like F/F and some women like M/M. But liking writing/reading something doesn't mean you get off to it.
(Also utter side tangent but I don't like her using lesbian to refer to bi characters. That's... not how that works. Bi people don't become straight or lesbian or gay depending on who they date.)
Can someone explain to me? I think my neurodivergent ass is missing a lot here and I'm lost.
--
Radfem nonsense.
Look up lesbian separatism as a political thing to find the sorts of women who think all men are inherently suspect, dangerous, predatory, etc. Some of them are also TERFs and think trans women are men and predators, but this general attitude on gender happens even without the transphobia.
Basically, she thinks you snuck into her exclusive clubhouse and got your cooties on it.
Some femslash fans do view this type of fandom as an expression of their identity, not just a thing they enjoy, and being confronted with the reality that it can also just be a fiction taste and the space isn't all people like them making a space for people like them can be upsetting. She's being a jerk and not responding to your actual work or your actual self, but if you want to know why, that's why.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard - known Character Creation info Part 2
[LINK TO PART 1] <- since I hit the character limit in that post I had to make a Part 2 ^^;
This post is just another dump collection of info and snippets that came out about CC (& some related topics). if youâve been following the news or reading posts here, itâs not new info or anything, I just put it together in one place here for convenience. ( ˜´ áľ `Ëś )
if you notice anything missing, pls lmk. thereâs a bit of repetition of info in places as prev posts (including Part 1) on the topic overlapped.
---
Although non-natural hair colors like blue and purple are available for Rook in the CC, all NPCs in the game have natural hair colors [source]
A user asked if there are instances wherein Rook will be referred to by their last name. âYes, there are places where we refer to Rook by their last name. Itâs very contextual - we donât want to awkwardly insert a reference in where it doesnât make sense - but it does happen, though it is going to be more common with some backgrounds than others.â [source: the official BioWare Discord]
You can have body tattoos [source: the official BioWare Discord]
A user stated âThere are no restrictions on lineage/faction/class combinations other than dwarves cannot be magesâ. Corinne added âCorrect." [source: the official BioWare Discord]
Q. âWill the gender identity of a trans/non-binary Rook be acknowledged in game by other characters? (beyond just pronouns I mean)â. A. âThere are moments when you can disclose and discuss, however, disclosure remains the right of the individual so you have to make that choice for yourself. [source: the official BioWare Discord]
Q. âWill we get the option to give our Rook more fantastical hair colors, like purple, blue, pink?â. A. âYesâ [source: the official BioWare Discord]
Q. âHow about heterochromatic eyes?â A. âYesâ [source: the official BioWare Discord]
Q. ââWill I be able to make a short qunari and a tall dwarf or are there limits to that? Do the qunari have to be buff?â A. â'There are limitations, of course⌠but yes, you can make a Dwarf that is tall or a Qunari that is short, relative to their lineage. We stan the skinny Qunariâ [source: the official BioWare Discord]
the armors mesh and mold to every body [source: the official BioWare Discord]
In CC you can customize things like shoulder width, chest size, glute size, hip width, how bloodshot your eyes are, nose crookedness, and more [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
There are hundreds of sliders for body proportions [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
CC detail: âFeatures like skin hue, tone, melaninâ [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
There is nudity in DA:TV, âwhich I learned firsthand while customizing my Rookâ in CC [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
Rookâs backstory also affects âreputation standingâ, along with the other previously-known things like in-game dialogue etc [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
The 4 voices we can choose for Rook each have a pitch shifter in CC [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
The devs used the DA:TV CC to make each in-world NPC, except for specific characters like companions [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
If you play as e.g. a qunari Rook, the camera adjusts to ensure larger characters like them loom over those below. The camera also adjusts appropriately for dwarves to demonstrate their smaller stature [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
If you are playing, e.g., a qunari, and you encounter elfy stuff, you might be missing unique dialogue options and an elf Rook would have more to say at that point [source: the Game Informer cover story article, DA:TV spoiler warning for link]
Twitter user: âPlease please please let me make a feminine shaped body with no chest, begging for non-binary to be something I can present not just a pronoun slapâ. Saira: âthis will be entirely possible with the body sliders!â [source]
âLast names are based on your faction. You can customize your first name, however.â [source: the official BioWare Discord]
âIn-world - Rook is a nickname youâre given before the events of the game, and itâs what everyone refers to you as. It allows for other characters to refer to you in dialogue without awkwardly having to write around not having a defined title, while still allowing for name customization.â Also, in the game, it is explained why we got the nickname Rook in the past. [source: the official BioWare Discord]
âThere are specific lines and dialogue options for different lineages, as well as different backgrounds, and classes, including at least a handful that are unique to lineage/background combinations. No specifics but we wanted to make sure the game felt reactive to the choices you made in creating your Rook.â [source: the official BioWare Discord]
A user asked whether elven Rook is Dalish or City. Answer: âItâll depend on your background. As mentioned previously, certain lineages will have variations of that background that go into more detail where appropriate.â [source: the official BioWare Discord]
âWithout getting into spoiler territory - Rookâs a hero because they chose to be, not because they were chosen. Your choice of background fills in some of the details - and you get opportunities to define it further - but some things we leave up to you to fill in.â [source: the official BioWare Discord]
Twitter user:Â âIs Rook a nickname or their actual name?â Michael Gamble:Â âNickname. The thing that people call you on the game.â [source]
âOh just wait. The hair tech is phenomenal in this. Even I was thinking "aye is this a Bioware game!?â lol.â [source]
âOne thing Iâm particularly happy about and canât get over is how much better the hair rendering is. It might be a small thing to some but it looks incredible. Itâs in another stratosphere compared to DAI.â [source]
âEveryone in the previews was gushing about how robust the CC is in Veilguard so there might be a decent chance to make some wild Qunari designs.â [source]
The 9 specs Rook can be (3 for each class) are:
Warrior - Champion, Reaper, Slayer Rogue - Duelist, Saboteur, Veil Ranger Mage - Death Caller, Evoker, Spellblade [more info here]
Update with new/further info up until June 27th:
Each spec is tied to a faction [source]. the faction each spec is tied to is as follows:
Mage: Death Caller - Mourn Watch Evoker - Shadow Dragons Spellblade - Antivan Crows Rogue: Duelist - Antivan Crows Veil Ranger - Veil Jumper Saboteur - Lords of Fortune Warrior: Champion - Grey Wardens Reaper - Mourn Watch Slayer - Lords of Fortune [source]
Magic âremains elusiveâ to dwarven Rooks [source]
âLemmy from Motorheadâ beards [source]
A user asked if they could see pics of the CC. Corinne: âIf only I could. But hold tight, youâll all be sharing your lovely creations with me soon enough đâ [source]
A user asked âPlease tell me we finally get black clothing and/or armor?â Corinne: âThere are many gorgeous fits. Just you wait đâ [source]
User: âFingers crossed we can play as Qunari again!â Corinne: âYou can and they are â¨đ
â [source]
"SO many options and beautiful hair choices and very intricate skin details" [source]
"It really felt like they were trying to be very careful in making sure they had good representation with hair textures and not gender locking anything, it was all about choice. The devs put lot of care and thought into it" [source]
In CC we will be able to customize qunari Rookâs horn type and material [source]
There are âhundreds of optionsâ in CC [source]
Selecting Rookâs faction is the penultimate step in CC [source]
The Lords of Fortune are pirated-themed [source]
Each faction has unique casual wear worn in specific cutscenes when the character isnât wearing armor [source]
Each faction has 3 unique traits, e.g. for Lords of Fortune, they gain additional reputation with this particular faction, have increased damage versus mercenaries, and perform takedowns on enemies with slightly less effort [source]
âFaction selection, which ties into your characterâs backstory, determines who your Rook was before, how they met Varric, why they travel with Varric instead of their faction, and moreâ [source]
Rookâs appearance can be changed using the Mirror of Transformation in the Lighthouse, but not their class, lineage and "identity" [source]
The unique faction-based casual wears are "very prettyâ ^^ [source]
CC has sliders for width and height on pretty much every body part [source]
BioWare said âthey worked with Black consultants to ensure they got hairstyles and textures right and authentic for masculine and feminine optionsâ [source]
CC is expansive, robust, rich; BioWareâs best yet. At its heart is inclusivity [source]
BioWare used it to create most of the NPCs in the game, main chars like companions aside [source]
When browsing through the presets, the game allows for more detailed looks at each [source]
Pronoun choice is separate to gender identity choice [source]
Different body types available [source]
Before exiting CC Rook can be viewed in 4 different lighting scenes at any time, âincluding The Veilguardâs keynote purple hue, a bright and sunny tropical day, and a gothic nightâ. The team worked hard to quash the issues caused by the green lighting in DA:Iâs CC [source]
Head and body presets can be selected individually and customized [source]
40 different complexions including smooth, rugged, youthful, freckled [source]
Skin hues range from cool to neutral to warm [source]
Undertones to these skin tones [source]
Melanin slider [source]
BioWare engaged consultation to represent people authentically
Vitiligo slider (intensity and amount adjustable) [source]
Sliders for forehead, brow, cheeks, jaw, chin, larynx and scalp [source]
Selectable undergarments, with nudity [source]
The âBody Morpherâ involves âselect[ing] three presets for each corner of a triangle and then mov[ing] a cursor within it to morph your body or head into a mix of these presetsâ [source]
Adjust height, shoulder width, chest size, glute and bulge size, hip width, how bloodshot your eyes are, how visible cataracts are, the sclera color, how crooked your nose is, how big its bridge is, the size of nostrils and the nose tip [source]
Many sliders for things like mouth and ears [source]
On ears: you can adjust asymmetry, depth, rotation, earlobe size [source]
For ears you can have cauliflower ear [source]
The makeup blends modern stylings with the fantasy of DA. It has more than 30 options including eyeliner intensity, color, glitter, eye shadow, lips, and blush [source]
Tattoos are a thing. Add them to Rookâs face, body, arms, legs. Their intensity is adjustable [source]
Tattoos are customizable [source]
Scar options [source]
Paint options [source]
âTattoos, scars, and paint are very culturally relevant to some lineages, BioWare tells me, with unique tattoos for elves, for exampleâ [source]
Hair options: a ton. Hair can be non-traditional colors. Hair is gorgeous. Frostbite uses the Strand system to render âeach style fully with physicsâ [source]
Select qunari Rookâs horn type and material - more than 40 options available [source]
4 voices. English masculine, English feminine, American masculine, American feminine. Each has a pitch slider [source]

Top 3 most controversial acotar takes/opinions, nowâď¸
Uh nooooo only my top three? Alrighty. These are going to be very harsh:
1. I have read the ACOTAR series at least 3 times since 2021 and I very often skim chapters every week for posts and videos. And I will be fully honest, I never want to reread the series ever again because of Feyre. I dislike her biases, her hypocrisy, her habit of ignoring other peopleâs POVs and the mistakes sheâs made. I hate her excuses and her blindness and selfishness and how she treats everyone who is not in the IC. I hate how she treats Tamlin and Lucien. I physically cannot reread ACOWAR without flinching at all of the stuff she does, ESPECIALLY her taking down Spring out of revenge. I do not like her as an FMC and Iâm glad we have moved past her story and onto other characters.
2. I think the fanbaseâs hatred for Tamlin is so extreme and it is heavily influenced by Feyreâs own biases, as well as stupid memes on tiktok. If you take a second to look at the story from Tamlinâs perspective, you can easily understand his actions. With Hybern, EVERYONE FORGETS THAT 1. He was not part of the Archeron Sisterâs kidnapping, that was Ianthe. Itâs literally explained by Hybern in the book. And 2. He was playing as a double agent, which is hinted at many many times and it is something we later discover. I would go into it more but I feel like thatâs its own post that many people have made before.
3. I donât think SJM is the best writer. I know writers can retcon, especially in huge series like this, but she uses retconning as a crutch, and itâs very frustrating. She has so many inconsistencies and plot holes and inconveniences that personally bother me. I think her world building in ACOTAR is so flat and not thought out at all, and her magic system is even worse. Most of her villains, not just in ACOTAR but in her other series, are not that good idk. She also has a habit of the typical villain monologue that I am getting so sick of and I literally skip the part of the human queen during the Blood Rite because I think itâs so badly written đđ
And hereâs some random ones just for fun with no to little explanation (I couldnât do just 3 LMAO sorry)
4. ACOTAR would be better in 3rd POV limited and we can still get the mystery of the world, Feyreâs biases, etc. A lot of problems I have would be solved if we got the POVs of other characters
5. I would like Rhys so much more if he was revealed to be a villain
6. Lucien is one of the only characters I genuinely enjoy, and Iâm holding out for him. If he did not exist, I would not be reading ACOTAR at all
7. The IC are awful for how they treat Nesta and I DESPISE THE âinterventionâ they put her through. It was not a real intervention and readers should not try to defend it in that way
8. This fanbase is filled with too many straight normies who have never experienced a fanbase before and refuse to broaden their minds and think beyond canon. Tamsand would be the most popular ship in any other fanbase. There would be more sexuality and gender headcanons. Trans headcanons, trans fanfics, m-preg fanfics, etc etc. But I guess this is a very popular fantasy romance so I get why those arenât popular but I should not have to explain why itâs okay to ship ships that arenât canon, and why people often insert their heteronormative fantasies in queer ships (looking at you Azris)

Any TTRPGs where 'Genderfuckery' (i.e. playing around with gender in some form - trans characters, nb characters, in-game genderbending, crossdressing, etc etc - anything that 'fucks around' with gender and conventional ideas of gender) is a central mechanic or thematic element in some form?
Heaven is Here, by Rae Nedjadi.
This is a game that is deeply stepped in magical surrealism, it is desperately mundane, it is laughter in a coffee shop, and sacrifices made to the moon. It is friendship bound up in art, in gender, and what it means to be human.
This game uses the Belonging Outside Belonging system, which encourages collaborative storytelling with simple rules. You are artists, people made of many layers caught up in entanglements with one another. You are magical beings, because to create art is to create magic. Art is expression and creation, tied intimately with who you are and who you wish to be. Discover what inspires you and what holds you back. What does your art mean to you? How do you feel about the art others create? What new forms of inspiration will you uncover?
Rae describes gender in this game as ever shifting. As artists, your gender is connected to your art and what you love. It is a game about big questions in mundane scenarios, called Moments. Currently there are four playbooks and four Moments, as the game is still in development, so it is likely best experienced in a smaller group.
Giant Metal Bodies, by TheGiftofGabes.
You have a Giant Metal Body. If you run out of juice, youâll probably die, but you might just flee to die another day. If you survive at the end of your mission, it doesnât matter. The war will continue to try and kill you another time. If you die, it doesnât matter. The war doesnât care about your sacrifice.
Giant Metal Bodies is a game about what it means to be a Giant Metal Body in a war much bigger than you, that doesn't care about you, and which will destroy you no matter what.
I know that thereâs been a lot of talk about trans allegories in mech stories, so this game feels like a very fitting way to talk about the trans experience using tragic themes. It was also submitted to the Trans Fucking Rage Jam on Itch a year or so back, which likely has a number of submissions that you might find interesting!
Expanse, by TheTrueToad.
Expanse" is a short solo-RPG made for pondering and expressing one's own gender. Create an expansive map of values, colors, and textures for the landscape of your gender.
I love the example aspects that you can choose from in this game. You have your traditional genders, such as Masculine, Feminine, and Androgynous, but you also have options such as Purple, Timid, Voidlike and Witty. You will map out a landscape that represents your gender by drawing from a regular deck of playing cards, and reading the associated prompts. Each house in the deck responds to a different categories of aspects. I definitely am interested in how this game can provide alternate ways to think about gender; and you can create a lovely map along the way!
This game was made for the Trans Joy Jam, the counterpart for the Trans Rage Jam.
Elf Genders, by Lucian Kahn.
Elf Genders is a worldbuilding tool for creating your own new systems of fantasy genders. Most humans are women, men, or nonbinary, but maybe elves are⌠something else? Elf Genders helps you decide what!
This is not an rpg, but if you want to fuck with the genders of your fantasy game, this is a great place to start. This is a game session (or sessions, if you get really into it) to help you establish a setting and lore details of your elven folk, and what gender means for an elf. If you or your game group already have a game in mind, this is definitely worth looking at.
AetherNet, by Legendary Vermin.
The Internet as we know it ceased to exist after The Incursion, and in its place the sprawling Virtual Hyperreality of the Ăthernet stretches horrible and festering in every direction. Plumb its depths in search of riches, miracles and ruins that the keepers of the mundane world will pay heartily for, just beware of the Daemons and UNGODS waiting for you in its depths, hoping to bend and shape your flesh to their own ends.
Make a character in seconds, ruin them for hours. The Player Book contains the minimum essential rules and setting information, and the Ref's Handbook fills in the other rules and tables you need to run the game.
The game itself takes place in a dystopian cyberpunk future where magic and technology are connected - and dangerous. There is actually a section in AetherNet titled âGendersâ that asks you to roll 1d2 (or flip a coin) and roll a d6. This will give you one out of 12 options for your gender, which include options such as âa daemon bound you into a pactâ or âonce, you were a ship or space station and its crewâ. Your Gender can also be changed or corrupted as you play, gaining qualities such as âwithout fearâ or âtoo persuasive.â This is the most wild example of gender Iâve seen in a game so far, and I definitely recommend you check it out.
Sleepaway, by Possum Creek Games.
Sleepaway gives us long hazy days, chilled summer nights, kids screaming and chasing fireflies, crackling campfires, and a gaunt, cruel monstrosity forever hiding just out of sight, always asking, âWhat do you do next?â
In Sleepaway, you play as a group of camp counselors at a not-so-ordinary summer camp besieged by a strange and ominous cryptid, the monstrous Lindworm. It is a GMless horror game for 3-6 players, which uses the Belonging Outside Belonging system created by Avery Alder and Ben Rosenbaum. In it, players take control of not only their characters (which include archetypes like the Lifeguard, the Songleader, the Crafter, or the Athlete) but also the world around them, picking up Setting Elements to react to their friend's decisions. As the game goes on, the players also invite the Lindworm to play with them, causing horrific events to callously occur throughout the place space.
A Belonging Outside Belonging game, Sleepaway is a game that can be played without a GM, because each player will pick up a setting element sheet and be responsible for it throughout game play. This is the closest to what I was looking for when it came to gender, because your characters have gender options such as âA Robin,â and âA Particular Colour.â The game itself is a great setting to explore danger and liminal spaces, as summer camps are excellent places for self-discovery, as they take place away from your typical surroundings. Also, Possum Creek Games has a well-deserved reputation for making games that play well and make you feel something. You should definitely check it out.
Games I've Recommended in the Past
Women are Werewolves, by 9th Level Games.
Wanderhome, by Possum Creek Games.
Blood Feud, by Bläckfisk Publishing.
Gay Crime, Sapphics Against Capital, by Evey Lockhart.
Here, There Be Monsters! by wendi yu.
Dream Askew / Dream Apart, by Buried Without Ceremony.

âď¸ Omegaverse: Alpha & Omega Biology âď¸
Hi guys!
I wanted to make this post because I expected that I would need to explain this topic and my reasoning behind it at some point. Many of you have read my Omegaverse fics and have probably guessed correctly that it's my favorite AU or trope to write about.
But, I'm sure many of you have been slightly put off or dissuaded by my tendency to describe the Omega Male Reader with a cunt, wet heat or core, and their Alpha sucking on a 'nub' or playing with a cocklette. I totally get it.
I am a male author who writes for male readers, cis and trans alike. But, I am also someone who in my years has grown to detest labels and gender roles and the silent rules they put on us.
This is why I set up my version of Omegaverse and A/B/O Dynamics on the basis that Omegas have vaginal genitals and Alphas have phallus genitals, regardless of gender. In my eyes, it helps to create a more imaginable and realistic explanation of male pregnancy and pregnancy between two women, which I hope gives inspiration to wlw authors, even though I already know I'm not the first person to use this idea. Not even close.
Also, I just like the chaoticness of it all.
But, I know it can be jarring or off-putting for male readers who may not want to think of their themselves as the readers having a cunt or a pleasure nub. Which, also let me explain that.
Since I write for male readers, and I'm sure some may have an aversion to the terms vagina, pussy, folds, clit, etc., I do my best to steer away from using those words as much as possible. I know 'cunt' is probably not the next best thing but if anyone has suggestions, I'm more than open to hearing them!
But, I also detail the use of cocklettes and twats which may be a little confusing (and weird) to imagine or think about, but it's fiction. We all have weird fantasies, thoughts, ideas, etc.
The cocklette is the male omega's version of a penis. This tiny and often defective organ typically serves no purpose but as a bundle of nerves/pleasure spot for Omegas. A male equivalent of a clit.
Let me be clear; I am a cis-gendered male author. But, as I said, I write for male readers, ALL male readers. Cis, trans, and those are non-binary alike. This is why I typically don't put non-binary or trans in my tags because I'm keeping the reader as a character as ambiguous and open as possible.
The most I put in the tags regarding identity or label is gay so that it reaches more of the audience I want it to reach. That's it.
Also, I'm sure it doesn't help that I mainly write from a submissive point of view. I'm biased toward bottom/sub-male readers, I admit it. And I know there's a growing demand for top/dominant male reader content, but I'm sorry, that is just not my cup of tea.
But, if you don't want to read about yourself having vaginal parts and a cocklette, that is more than okay. That's why I always put a disclaimer in the warnings section of my author's notes if a fic is Omegaverse and include a link to my headcanons. I'm letting you know from jump what's in the fic you're about to read and giving you more than enough opportunity to turn away.
I do write smut that's not Omegaverse as well, plus I have many fics with no smut at all that keep things clean and open for my male readers to imagine themselves in.
This is not shade or me throwing shots at anyone who felt uncomfortable or surprised by it. It's completely valid, and I understand. But, I give plenty of warning and opportunity so there isn't any confusion.
You will likely never see me write an explicit trans male character since that's not part of my identity and I'd rather give that opportunity and shine to the authors who are of that identity. I just write what I like to write, or better yet, what I myself like to read.
The only thing that doesn't change is that my characters, reader or original, are and will always be MALE characters. Even if my Omegaverse characters have vaginal parts and their nipples leak more milk than a pregnant cow, they are MALE characters. Not female. They are boys, men, fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, nephews, boyfriends, husbands, misters, kings, princes, dukes, barons, cowboys, bachelors, fucking dudes, and every other word related in the dictionary. Again, no shade to any female reader I have, but yall know what it is to.
I hope this doesn't discourage anyone and that everyone receives it as I intended it. If you like my fics, please engage more with them and tell me the things you like and want to see more of! If you want more regular smut and less Omegaverse smut, I'm more than happy to comply, just please check my rules first!
Thank you!

So Iâm seeing so often particularly on Marauders Reddit, people complaining about the more âfeminineâ depiction of Sirius in fandom at the moment⌠and citing jewellery, nail varnish and eyeliner as evidence of this?
Now, letâs make this clear. I have nothing against fem Sirius. This is fandom. People can do what they like. Donât like, donât read.
So what is particularly baffling to me is this insistence that jewellery and nail polish always constitutes âfeminineâ.
Because to me? That doesnât have to be true at all.
I also come from the Buffy fandom. Bear with me here. (Any BTVS fans will know where Iâm going with this).
One of my favourite characters in the show is Spike. Heâs strong, powerful, confident, dangerous, (a vampire) and to me, pretty masculine indeed.
He alsoâŚwears a fuck tonne of jewellery, eyeliner AND nail polish on a regular basis.
Now there are some people who like to headcanon gender-fluid Spike, and fair play to them. But to me, Spike is the epitome of someone whoâs secure in their masculinity.
He wouldnât even stop to consider whether wearing any of this stuff would âfeminiseâ him at all. In fact heâd probably scoff at the idea, (or punch you in the face for suggesting it, come to think of it).
I also think itâs not a coincidence that Spikeâs look is grounded in the 70s punk scene, (therefore from around the same time as Sirius I might add), and it is in the flashbacks to 70s Spike that we see the most examples of his eyeliner and accessories, and of course the original punk accessory, the leather jacket, (something we also knew Sirius possessed).
Now to reiterate, NONE of this is to say we shouldnât headcanon either Sirius or Spike as gender fluid, trans or feminine. Feel absolutely free to do so.
It is the critics of this Sirius portrayal that Iâm speaking to, the ones who blanket criticise any and all versions of Sirius with jewellery, nail polish or eyeliner as âfeminineâ and then widely call them âfanonâ or âoocâ.
If you personally prefer your Sirius more âmasculineâ, âheadstrongâ, âimpatientâ, brashâ * etc, then thatâs fine. But Sirius can be all of those things and ALSO wear jewellery, makeup and nail polish. None of these are mutually exclusive.
Particularly if youâre one of the people who enjoys punk!Sirius.
My brother in Christ, 70s punks were covered in jewellery and makeup, including the men. And it didnât make them any less masculine. Donât you think Sirius wouldâve been too?
To be absolutely clear. Fem!Sirius is also a perfectly valid interpretation, and Iâm very glad trans/gender-fluid people are getting the opportunity to see themselves reflected in him (or her, as is sometimes the case).
People should just let others enjoy what they enjoy. The block button is there for a reason. But for the love of God I also NEED the fem!Sirius haters to STOP using jewellery and makeup as the examples upon which they base their criticism.
I thought we all knew that neither jewellery nor makeup represent someoneâs gender. Especially not in a fandom basing itself in the 70s, where these things were even more common for men in certain scenes than they are today.
So please, letâs not return to strict gender stereotypes around clothing in an attempt to criticise a version of Sirius that you donât like. Just because someoneâs wearing makeup and jewellery does not make them feminine.
And even if it did, that wouldnât be a problem either.
So in conclusion, Fem!Sirius can wear jewellery and makeup, and Masc!Sirius can too. These things are not necessarily representative of gender.
Thank you
#*this is not to say feminine people canât be brash or assertive or headstrong too. they can be ALL of these things and more#these are just the attributes I see people pointing out to assert Siriusâ âmasculinityâ.#sirius black#marauders era#marauders fandom#marauders#fem!sirius black#fem sirius black#masc sirius black#Sirius

"Hey, can i get a mcfuckin' uhhh... transharmful with a lotta transprogrammed packets?"
"Sorryyy we're out of those! We have an abundance of--"
đ _ âď¸âď¸ âď¸
WELCOME TO THE ALTERPACK DRIVETHRU!!
This is a radqueer-ran alter pack blog, themed around that one post that described it like a drive thru with the employee wearing a transharmful pin. Well, now you can drive on by at 2 am for your fragment order and needs!
Our menu has plenty of source options, but unfortunately some (a lot) will be out of order if i dont know the source material very well! I will try to do plenty of sources though and put in our research!
We will always have our ask box open to request!! May not be fast about it though! unfortunately it will shut down with a cardboard cutout of the employee if the orders come flying in a little too fast. It shouldn't be too long!! <- whoever wrote that last was a liar sorry guys
Need more information about our services, or your possible allergens? Take a look below at our Nutritional list/MORE INFO!!
ABOUT THE WORKER(S):
Hi, u can just call us Mod Packet on here :3 we just generally love reading alter packs, an too many of them just dont post consistently! Nothings wrong with that, but i figured the community would like a simple pack blog ^_^
We are chrono adults, an we are/are in a hc-did system! The flags on our hat are: TransProgrammed, TransHarmfulHarmless, TrisPlural [trauma -> traumaendo], and PermaHypnotized !! We are cisautistic, so please be clear and direct in your order!
There will never be another mod in this vast Radonalds, for this is a mere side blog!
I need to be real i LOVEEEE making custom system terms, gender terms, or etc. I am also cisdisabled and often very tired! Sometimes terms (genders, sexualities, etc) wont have a link, and if you dont recognise a term, please feel free to send an ask about it!
We generally are the most knowledgable about MCYT sources and SMPs, Especially DSMP. If you ask for our analysis of a character for a pack, id kiss you on the lips. Alas, we will still do many other sources, non sourced req are good too!!! ^_^
Songtives, fuzztives, mixed au sources... yummy yummy add them to the MENU!
RULES/TOS:
We are allowed to deny a request for any reason
DNI IF ANTI RADQUEER OR ANTI ENDO IDGAF. Follow your own blacklist.
Do not send us links to goresites, gore, illegal media of ANY KIND. if you are linking something in your ask you MUST describe what your sending. It will not be acknowledged, and deleted if not described.
Please dont spam the ask box. This restaurant has only one employee. Be nice
We will not be doing transn4zi or transbigot related terms. End of story.
If requesting a subsystem with more than 5 members, IDs listed will be likely fewer and the request takes longer. Please keep that in mind!
Rules will be added when needed, but play nice and we wont need many!
ALLERGEN SOURCES
This is to no hate of these sources! Theyre just ones were not able to do our best at due to no grasp of the source material! Request will be denied if these are requested :(
- More to be added
- Genshin Impact + honkai star rail + any related anime gatcha game. I LIKELY dont know it nor ever will.
- Hazbin hotel
- Roblox fandoms (i just genuinely dont know how to look for info about it)

Criminal Minds PRIDE Fic Challenge!
Here we go! First writing challenge ever and I'm even more excited about the theme. During June I ask fic writers to challenge themselves a little bit by writing a piece that is LGBTQ+ inclusive!!! Don't let the topic intimidate you; If you want to participate, but don't know where to start, there are prompts to help. All the fics will be collected in a Masterlist that will be avalible by July 1st.
Note: if you have accessibility issues with this post (or any of my posts!) let me know and I can send you the information in an accessible format.
Prompts and rules are under the cut!
------
These prompts are only ideas to help get you started! You can write any LGBTQ+ centered fic you want! Feel free to modify any of the more specific prompts to your liking.
Prompts:
Character coming out to their friends/family/the team.
Character's found family is more supportive than biological family when they come out.
Characters go to a pride parade/festival/event!
Characters discuss queer coding in media.
Character(s) explains their new, queer relationship to a child.
Character 1's child comes out to them. They go to Character 2 to ask what they wish their parents would have done.
Character 1 is having an identity crisis (gender or sexuality). They go to Character 2 for help.
Character 1 is confident about their identity. Character 2 isn't, so they ask for some advice.
Character 1 takes Character 2 to a gay bar for the first time to act as their wingman/wingwoman/wingperson.
Character 1 is unsure if they're attracted to or envious of Character 2's confidence in their identity.
Character has been dating Morgan, but realizes they're not attracted to men. He isn't sure how he ended up in this situation twice, but it's the perfect opportunity for him to play matchmaker for his ex girlfriends.
Character comes out to the team (or it's just pride month) and Penelope goes a bit overboard with decorations.
For the writers who are intimidated by this topic or unsure if they can write it: write something with GN!reader. It's less intimidating than you think, and it can make someone's day to be able to read a fic they might otherwise not relate to!
Bi and Pan Prompts:
Character 1 has always thought they were straight, but they realize their feelings for their best friend, Character 2, are more than platonic.
Character 1 is in a straight passing relationship and worries about the visibility of their queer identity. Their partner is incredibly supportive in helping them express themselves.
(NSFW) What does Emily really do during a sin to win weekend?
Trans and Nonbinary Prompts:
Character 1 gives Character 2 a gender affirming haircut.
Hotch teaches Character how to shave.
JJ teaches Character how to do make up.
Character finds themselves needing gender affirming clothes. Rossi makes sure they have the best of the best.
(NSFW) Character 1 gifts Character 2 gender affirming lingerie and it gives them quite the confidence boost.
Aro and Ace Prompts:
Character 1 keeps trying to set up Character 2 with people/telling them to find someone to help ease their stress. Character 2 has had enough of it.
Character has a monthly spike in libido and it makes them question their identity. Spencer tries to help with a ramble about science (NSFW add on: and a few other ways).
------
Rules:
The fic can reader insert, OC, character x character, general fic, etc. as long as the character(s) is from Criminal Minds (yes, even the ones I don't write for).
Fics can be any genre and can be platonic or romantic in nature... and yes, this includes smut (I know, I know my brand is ruined. Oh well). You must be 18+ if you are going to submit smut. You all know I love platonic fics very much if not more!
You can write something new or dig up something you've already written! I'm also happy to add on fics that are sent to me after the masterlist is posted.
Tag me in your fic or message me the link. Please list the ship, content warnings, and have a 1-2 sentence summary of your piece! If you have multiple pieces, you can submit a mini masterlist.
Be kind and respectful! Reach out to me if you have any concerns. This blog is a safe space!
------
Thank you to @imagining-in-the-margins for the support and for sending some of the prompts from discord! (and telling me it's safe to tag @foxy-eva for this too)

ONODA SAKAMICHI from YOWAMUSHI PEDAL
JUSTIFICATION:
"the protagonist of yowamushi pedal was originally supposed to be a girl until the author's editor said that a story with a boy protagonist would sell better, but he still kept a lot of his character concept for the original protagonist in creating onoda.
onoda is really obsessed with a magical girl anime, love hime, and throughout the series she often sings a song from that show singing about the transforming magic princess protagonist to encourage herself to pedal faster during cycling races. i feel like this can be seen as her finding power in femininity. even outside of singing the song there are multiple times while pushing herself during races that she shouts "i'm a princess!!!"
for an additional argument that requires a segue into making the case for another character's lgbt-ness for a bit: onoda's senior mentor is makishima yuusuke. makishima has a sense of style that other people often find weird and effeminate. makishima has a background story about how they were always bullied growing up for not fitting in regardless of what they did, and for quite literally not doing things "straight" (having weird posture/writing crooked/riding a bike with an unconventional style, etc.) makishima is also probably the character involved with the most gaybaiting in all of the animanga
despite all the people who find makishima to be weird, onoda greatly admires makishima, insisting that they're one of the coolest people she's ever met, and looking up to her as a role model. everything that other people find weird that makishima does, onoda admires and tries to imitate, from their cycling style to their fashion sense. in one cute scene, onoda sees makishima put their long hair in a hair turban after washing it, and as soon as she is alone she tries to imitate this despite not needing to wrap her short hair like that herself.
before getting roped into joining her school's cycling club (despite initially being intimidated by people who played sports), onoda was pretty shy and awkward and didn't have many friends. but after gaining a community in the cycling club, she begins to blossom into her warm and determined personality. some of the moments where that shines the most is when she is relating herself to the protagonist of love hime. i think there is a strong argument to be made for her being a closeted trans girl who is just starting to discover herself now that she is in a supportive environment with an older gender nonconforming role model giving her a small glimpse of what is possible for the first time, taking her first steps with experimenting and letting herself be excited about the idea of being a girl through the confidence-building outlet of her cycling.
i've not been able to see onoda as anything but a trans girl since i first watched yowamushi pedal 10 years ago and i hope after reading this you think so too!" - Anonymous

some reasons you should watch abigail thornâs âthe princeâ
i mean, reasons beyond âitâs about trans women in a shakespeare multiverse and abigail thorn plays hotspur.â because--do you need more? but i have more to say, so iâm going to say it.
1. the exploration of the conflation of death and transition. i think trans people are in the habit of pushing back against the idea that transition is any sort of metaphorical death, because so many cis people say shit about feeling like theyâve lost a son/daughter/brother/sister/niece/nephew/gendered acquaintance/etc. but in truth, taking the plunge in deciding to transition, or deciding even to be honest with yourself about your transness, can look and feel a lot like a death, even if itâs a death thatâs necessary for a rebirth (something thorn & other trans writers have touched on before). i canât cite specific parts because spoilers but just trust me that this does a lot with that that made me want to put my head in my hands and scream
2. the interaction with manhood in the history plays. the henriad is incredibly concerned with what it means to be a man the right way--richard iiâs effeminacy assayed against bolingbrokeâs stubborn strength; hotspurâs yearning for glory and love of war tied to his destructive masculinity and abhorrence of the feminine; halâs gendernonconformity through use of language more often than weapons; henry vâs presentation of the english as a virile âband of brothersâ identified in contrast to the foppish french dandies. the way this play examines gender--womanhood, manhood, masculinity, femininity, structural misogyny--is fucking delicious in that context, particularly in that the play turns hotspurâs obsession with masculine glory into something of a defense mechanism, as hotspur strives to be the person northumberland and worcester and kate percy expect. (ALSO THE COSTUMING. AND THE SWORD. AND THE DOUBLE-CASTING. AND THE SYMBOLISMS. FABULOUS.)
3. interaction with 1H4 in general. the way thorn cut up this play and rearranged it. i couldnât go two minutes without turning to my friend and hissing, âthis is a line from the real play! except in context it doesnât go here!â and then gasping over how shifting the context, length, or speaker of speeches brought new aspects of both works to light. ALSO? SO MANY SPEECHES/SCENES IN SHAKESPEAREAN VERSE THAT WERE NOT IN THE ORIGINAL PLAY AT ALL. WHICH MEANS THIS WOMAN WAS JUST WRITING RAW IAMBIC PENTAMETER. LIKE, CONVINCING ELIZABETHAN-ERA IAMBIC PENTAMETER. WHAT. (also also! you donât have to be a shakespeare nerd to enjoy this play, but if you like iambic pentameter jokes, boy howdy have i got good news for you!)
4. that said, itâs accessible to non-shakespeare-superfans, too! if you donât know much about the histories, or if you struggle to comprehend shakespeare, donât fear! the play is doing more than just riffing on shakespeare. itâs at least 50% modern speech, and the switches from one dialect to another tend to come at the most destabilizing and thus hilarious (or gutting) moments. thereâs one particular modern-language-paraphrase of a specific 1H4 speech that i havenât stopped thinking about since i saw it, because itâs the perfect balance of comedic and agonizing.
5. trans people. not just transgender shakespeare characters, but also modern-day trans women! i love that we get both original trans characters and shakespearean characters hit with the transgenderification beam, and i love how many trans people there are; it allows for a more thorough exploration of identity, and also so many good fucking jokes.
6. prince hal is gay for real. not sure i need to say much else about this
7. who doesnât want to listen to abigail thorn recite shakespeare? not even just 1H4! but i shanât say more, because oh, baby, that oneâs gotta hit organically.
you can read more about it here if youâre not yet convinced, but come on. if you like shakespeare, or if you like art about gender and transness and narratives and confinement and freedom, or, hell, if you like seeing women with swords, i literally donât know what to tell you i donât know why youâre still reading this go watch the prince come on now
#max.txt#the prince#abigail thorn#henry iv#henriad#bottom bless thee thou art trans#no she is not sponsoring me. but should she like to--#god this play is so fucking good y;'all. im fucking crazy. im fucking insane. im bonkers in yonkers

Iâm a 18 year old transexual male, have known about it since I was about 10 or 11, and have been struggling with a bad dysphoric episode this past month, so forgive the irrationality and how stupid this may sounds.
Lately I have been frequenting some âtruscumâ forums online and, though I agree with most of their premises (main point being âyou need sex dysphoria to be trans), Iâve found some ideas that have been making me feel âless of a manâ. Though Iâm not generally feminine in posture and habit, Iâm highly introverted [bordering on shyness] and have some âgirlyâ habits and likes, such as still liking stuffed animals even at my age [please, donât take it as infantilizing myself] and enjoying making colorful notes, with nice pens and nice titles as well. My friend group is mixed gender-wise, but the majority is made cis female. For some of these âtruscumâ individuals, this makes me merely GNC, and though I am sure my dysphoria is real and I am caving the path towards my medical transition, it does make me feel weirdly insecure and intensifies, somehow, the dysphoria.
Iâve seen you are somewhat of an specialist when it comes to topics like this, therefore I wanted to have your insight, if possible.
Thank you for reading this and forgive me for any mistakes regarding the English language, it isnât my mother tongue.
It took perhaps mere months before the word "truscum" began being used by underage morons who had neither the maturity nor the general desired level of intelligence to be speaking for an entire community in trying to convince outsiders of its need to be taken seriously. And it was a meme word before then too, one that I always warned against using for the very reasons it almost immediately became a problem. Point being: it means nothing to me that someone calls themselves "truscum", other than that it makes them sound like an immature asshole. I have never used that label.
That being saidâ
I don't think behavior alone makes someone transsexual or not transsexual. Sex dysphoria does.
The only relevant question is: do you experience sex dysphoria because of the sex of your body? And because people have severely watered that definition down over the years as well, here are some follow-up questions; which, no, aren't specifically covered in this wording in the DSM or ICD, but any diagnostician worth their salt would ask you:
Is the level of distress you experience life-debilitating?
Have you experienced this at least since the onset of puberty?
Looking back at your childhood, can you (with hindsight) recognize that your male gender identity was in fact present then as well? For example: did you feel a familiarity/kinship towards male family members, did you prefer playing with boys, did you prefer boy clothing/toys/items, did it feel natural to identify yourself with male characters, did you feel you didn't belong in groups with girls/women, etc.
Does a future in a female body seem impossible, surreal and/or utterly agonizing and miserable to you?
Do you experience sex dysphoria over all your natal sex characteristics; meaning, including the actual sex organs? There is no such thing as a transsexual male that lacks dysphoria over having female sex organs. Then you're just not male, therefore not transsexual.
Finally: are there no alternative explanations that could believably explain your dysphoric feelings, such as relevant trauma or mental illness? Do you wish to transition for the sole sake of changing your sex, and not for any ulterior goals or beliefs possibly linked to trauma or mental illness?
You should be able to answer 'yes' to these questions if you are transsexual.
The things you're mentioning aren't typical in guys your age, no, but those are taught things, not biologically innate things. Chances are, if you were raised as a boy, you likely wouldn't have done or enjoyed these (as much) as they would probably not have been encouraged, either by your parents or your peers. On the other hand, if you had been born male and still had these interests, you probably would've ran into the exact same sentiments from your peers that this makes you less of a guy. You'll find that many cisgender men have similar experiences with having their masculinity questioned.
Most transsexual people, I would say, do 'outgrow' most of these social behaviors as they fully embrace and live as their desired sex (and HRT may play a role in these changes as well). Perhaps you will too, when/if you start HRT and grow up into a man. Or perhaps you'll be a man who likes coloring pencils. It's hardly the deciding factor. Not like men have to trade in their cocks the moment they're ever found guilty of pulling out a glittery marker.

(About that last anon) I'm tired of people trying to play white knight for Native's (First Nations). It's not racist to draw a fetishizer wearing brownface. Others may find it offensive but at the end of the day it is making fun of Lily.
I want to be charitable here and say, I respect the fact that there's a fine line here and I acknowledge I'm dancing close to it. Not to make this blog sound more high minded than it is, but, that's kind of the thing with comedy. Getting close to the boundary between funny and offensive without going over it-- which, you know, fuck ups happen you have to take responsibility for. Can't be a little bitch about it.
The internet is both a somewhat uniquely hostile place for comedy in the way platforms encourage knee-jerk, bad faith, inflammatory responses and the ways in which fuckface pissbaby grifters can monopolize that environment to hide away from genuine criticism.
I spoke about this before, I made the decision to redirect my jokes towards my "Liquid Orcard" character, pretending to be human as the punchline rather than her specifically pretending to be First Nations. You know, just to put a little distance between my jokes and the genuinely harmful rhetoric around blood quantity discourse-- just to make sure they're reading right.
But like, there's landmines everywhere. There always is. Lily is a trans woman, and portraying a trans woman as an inhuman creature could also be twisted into being transphobic. That's not okay inherently in every context either.
Lily knows this. This is her bread and butter. This is the basis of her whole dog and pony show.
Just pointing out the fact that she's had a history of predatory behavior, can't be trusted around minors, has a history of abusing her partners, etc. could be twisted into a transphobic and racist attack.
I've SEEN it used as a genuine transphobic attack against her and by association, the trans community as a whole (which Lily never says shit about, I'd like to point out. Sabine, who also pretends to be POC online when they're really white, has called Lily a "pedophilic troon." She apparently doesn't give a fuck when it's them.) Because what Lily actually looks like has been public knowledge for as long as she has I've never really seen anyone take the claim she's POC seriously for obvious reasons, but I'm sure if she was, there'd be genuine racist shit online about her too.
I want to make it clear I'm not implying Lily is ALSO pretending to be trans. I believe in gender equality-- men, women and enbies alike can be shitheels. We can all respect her gender identity while pointing out she's a right-wing, basement dwelling, anti-social, absolute high priestess of goonfunery.
But she knows she can hide behind the smokescreen of genuine transphobic whinging. She knows she can cry racism if she sticks to the lie her white ass has experienced discrimination from being visibly of colour. Dare I say, she's subtly encouraged it. The fucked shit about bigotry is that it enables anti-social behavior for minorities aswell in certain circumstances. The fucking victims of oppression are always people who want to be a pro-social, positive, productive member of society. Who have to fight for the right to live their fucking lives as honestly as possible. This is the design of the industrial machine.
It's not a totally invalid question to ask in all circumstances. And though it's hard for me to always . . . Totally empathize with, I get the internet allows access to people who come from, let's say, more sheltered environments to see things they don't have full context for. As a trans person myself amd for the sake of my POC family members, in today's political climate, I'd encourage people to have a healthy skepticism against the kinds of things Lily is being accused of. Within reason. It's fucked, but this is the shit-pit grifters and outrage merchants put I all in.
But like, if you know who Lily is already, you know it's 100% a valid fucking thing to take the piss out of her for. The context tracks. And, with all do respect, the reason why that other anon thought there was a difference between just stating Loly is doing brownface and an image making fun of Lily for doing brownface is because humor gives it a bit more of a punch.

So I just saw your tags on the Mo Xuanyu art I reblogged - please talk Mo Xuanyu headcanons to me!
(I saw fanart with him and Jgy the other day and I'm like actual Mo Xuanyu is not explored enough. I need more of him)
Thank you âĄ
hello friend!!! sorry Iâm getting to this after so many days have passedâobligatory work life etc commitments that left me drained and not ready to answer!
Iâll list my biggest headcanonsâIâll admit that I havenât explored him as much as Iâd like, but these are the things I take into every scenario regarding him!
1. Mo Xuanyu is trans!
Thereâs something a little bit tragic to me about the way gender is handled in Ye Olde Ancient Societies. As much as I love what The Untamed did as far as removing some of the perceived gender biases of MDZS (such as female cultivators being Kept Apart in Cloud Recesses and showing us maybe?? one? female sect leader?) I do love playing around with two types of charactersâthose I can shoot with my âtrans laser beam,â and tragic ones.
My specific headcanon for Mo Xuanyu (which gets explained in wi3!) is that his mother was told if her child was a girl, she would not be acknowledged and Second Madam Mo would be cast aside. Knowing what that would mean not only for herself but for her child, she raised Mo Xuanyu as a boy, and it wasnât discovered until much later by a certain Jin that the truth was revealed. For his part, Mo Xuanyu never felt like a girl, and never wanted to portray himself as one.
I think Mo Xuanyu being trans also adds a fun little layer of struggle to Wei Wuxianâs returnâhe went from a cis man to a trans man and suddenly has to deal with that dysphoria, too.
2. Mo Xuanyu is a little crazy, but not the way heâs described in the books.
This is another thing that comes up in wi3âMo Xuanyuâs mental health vs. his intelligence!
While Mo Xuanyu never thought twice about being a boy, it sure doesnât change the dysphoria of being told youâre something that your body doesnât reflect! Not only that, but the poor treatment from the Mo family against him and his mother that I canât believe didnât happen in the ten years between when Jin Guangshan abandoned him and when he brought Mo Xuanyu to Carp Tower? During such formative years, itâs not a wonder to me that Mo Xuanyuâs not quite all there.
(I resonate a little with this headcanon. Okay, I resonate with this headcanon a lot, actually.)
But! I donât think Mo Xuanyuâs unintelligent. The opposite, actuallyâI think heâs very intelligent, although not quite as smart and calculating as our boy Jin Guangyao. Because of the treatment at the hands of the Mo family, I donât think Mo Xuanyuâs mother was healthy enough to have as much of a hand in Mo Xuanyuâs life as Meng Shi did with Jin Guangyao, but he was a young master of an affluential family who were under the belief that Jin Guangshan could, at any point, come back and claim Mo Xuanyu like he said he would. They wouldâve given him at least some education, because it wouldnât have reflected well on them had they not. And, given that they were an affluential familyâthey have a Manor and a Village, after allâthey likely couldâve afforded much better learning materials than Meng Shi (who did her best!).
3. The Incest.
The allegations that Mo Xuanyu came into Jin Guangyao and whether or not theyâre true are such an interesting thing to play around with in my brain.
I think this aspect for me will vary greatly depending on what Iâm writing. They may be true in one fic, or completely fabricated in another. Or maybe theyâre only slightly true! As mentioned previously, Mo Xuanyu isnât quite in full control of his cognitive thought processes. Iâm not sure if I read it as a headcanon or part of canon or one of mxtxâs interviews or even a different fanfic or the wiki, but I read somewhere that Jin Guangyao was actually quite kind to his half brother, despite the pointed way with which Jin Guangshan brought him around as a way to bully Jin Guangyao. I think that would have a very lasting effect on Mo Xuanyu, who likely only saw kindness from his mother by that point in his life.
Whether or not Jin Guangyao takes advantage of it⌠đ¤ˇââď¸ again, varies on the fic Iâm writing, I think!
These are my big three at the moment. Iâd love to hear any that you or anyone else might have! I really want to write a modern fic and itâd be fun to have Mo Xuanyu in there being the annoying younger brother to Jin Zixuan and Meng Yao* he deserved to be.
