I have sporadic headcannons for like. everyone in this game I think abt it maybe a little. think abt it occasionally. just gonna do generalized hcs here since you didn't specify if you wanted smth like yan/sagau or anything 🧍

cryo characters are my fave to write about bc. looks at tsaritsa. no reason in particular :]

kind of wish hoyo went more in depth with visions. stolen authority of the dragon sovereigns given to the common people and there's no side effects it's just a buff? nah. delusions kind of fill that role but I like to think having a vision still changes you in some manner (kind of like how I imagine the archons still retain certain inhuman characteristics even after losing their gnosis. you don't get that kind of power for free)

for cryo users the obvious thing is very cold body temp. which, to me, is why rosaria is so pale. she's practically bordering on getting frostbite and since she doesn't really interact with people, well, it can be a boon when she "works" at night.

if things had been different, she probably wouldn't have been so frigid. someone like Kaeya, even though he got his vision during his fight with Diluc, still had his brother to even him out alongside the rest of the knights (Jean, Lisa, Amber etc). For me, at least, his vision less affected body temp anyway and just generally numbed some of his senses. namely touch & taste. he's been trying to get Rosaria out more but their both cryo so, well..he can't help much. their absolutely besties though. even outside of drinking and needling Diluc.

she smokes a lot because it's as close to warmth as she can get without burning. she's sensitive to heat, even more so then other cryo users. you'd think her being so cold would offer protection against it, but..nah. absolutely dreads hot summers. it's a nightmare for her.

she's generally just very standoffish but she is practical. not aimed at a specific au here but if you manage to get close to her despite her prickly and relatively cold attitude shes actually very protective. she doesn't get close to a lot of people so the few people she is close to she goes out of her way to make sure no one tries anything with them. though most of her help is behind the scenes - you won't really know it's her unless you somehow figure it out. she's sneaky and works at night, which gives her ample opportunity to sort things out. someone giving you trouble? they apologize the next morning seemingly out of nowhere. forgot or lost something? suddenly find it somewhere in plain view in your house.

shes not exactly thrilled about direct praise and thanks. it makes her feel out of place and awkward. if you do realize what she's doing, it's best not to openly bring it up. just taking her out for drinks or something is enough, but she doesn't care if you do nothing either way.

it's like befriending a feral cat.

she's not exactly fond about touching, either. for both of your sakes. shes COLD as I mentioned earlier and I do mean very cold. she'll stick to admiring from a distance. your too good for her anyway. practically the sun in comparison - she'd melt before she even got close.

she'll protect you and you'll be happy and that's all she would ever need. she's fine watching from a distance because she's gotten accustomed to the dark and cold.

Watched the Alan Wake 10th anniversary stream and how Ilkka mentioned he has dark thoughts/violent impulses he doesn't act out on (hello C.G. Jung here we are again) and now I imagine him playing a pretty messed up character, some Fight Club shit or the likes in which he just embraces his fucked up mental state and doesn't gaf about it. Ilkka's got that versatility, he could totally pull it off. We've seen it before when he played (Mr.) Scratch.

the other day I was sitting with my cis dude friends around the fire and I asked them “if you woke up tomorrow with different genitals what would you do?” and a lot of them took it as if I was asking them about a change in gender. so I clarified that no no, this is body parts. you get to tell me whether that affects your gender or not, and how.

and it genuinely threw them for a loop. I got told first off “jill, i’m too drunk for this!” so I (massive little shit that I am) asked them again tonight while sober. and their responses were interesting.

one guy started asking if the government would know about the changes that happened to him. would he have issues proving he was who he said he was. would he need to get his gender marker changed on his ID. I said again “i don’t know. do you think having a vagina would change your gender? would you want to publically go thru those changes in a legal way? would this be a private thing or not?” he kinda got stuck. he said he’d want tits to see what being a woman was like with the full package. I again asked him “if it’s about seeing yourself in the mirror, then I have a bra upstairs we can put on and stuff. you’re not talking about your inner sense of self and how that connects to how you look.”

I don’t think he got what I was saying.

another one of the guys got stuck on the idea of periods. he has a fear of blood and said it would be really traumatic for him. I agreed that yeah it can be traumatic. periods were so traumatic for me I got on meds to stop them altogether. we didn’t get to talk more about if that would change his sense of self, but he did I think engage with the idea of dysphoria and like gender affirming heath care by bringing that up.

the last friend was most interested in how this would change things for him socially. he asked if it meant he’d get free drinks at the bar from people trying to hit on him. I said, I don’t know, what kind of bar are you at? what kind of people are you dating? are you dressing femme? masc? he didn’t really know. we went “bro do u want us to buy you a drink next time? drink from the homies??” and he said yeahhhh 🥺 lol.

I have no real commentary here other than it’s interesting how infrequently cis people think about their gender and what makes them feel the way they do about themselves.

i guess i’m (in a roundabout way) trying to get them to explain what masculinity means to them, because it’s something I have the hardest time connecting to as a genderfluid afab person.

Not exactly a new idea, but I've been sleeping on Papyri since I joined this Fandom and I refuse to keep going. We (I) need more Papyruses with the dramatic Sans backstories without directly swapping a sans, and I shall provide at least One.

Reading Asunder and I think I hate this more than the first two. The first two were often poorly done in a technical sense, and often had a lot of sexism. But Asunder is the "video game developers idea of gray morality" problem fucking distilled. The sexism is still here, and most of the technical issues are fixed (though certainly not fucking all) but like

Every two damn minutes it's: the noble and pure and pretty Evangeline (ignore the fact that like a kid starved to death under her charge and she is actually a threat and jailer to everyone around her just bc they were born different) who is so noble bc she.... believes the beliefs of the organization doing all the bad stuff. But she believes it really genuinely, that she's helping, even when working w the bad organization. And she's pretty, we'll mention that again.

Versus Adrian who's described as pretty never and often described as mousy and irritating. And she wants all the mages to be free but she's like soooo angry and loud and mean. Did you hear how she's too angry? She's soooooo angry, the redheaded fire Mage. So angry. And she's super judgemental. No one's as judgemental as her, even Wynne (a character who's greatest and most consistent flaw is being judgemental) will call her out as being too judgemental. And of course like, maybe she has some points about Mage freedom if she just wasn't so angry about it and obsessed with it. And she's not pretty.

And of course. Both. Are in a love triangle with our main male POV character. In fact he at one point dated Adrian, although it's impossible to tell why, bc he only ever thinks of her in the worst ways possible, so like. What did he like about her? What does he even like about Evangeline other than that he thinks she's hot? No one knows.

Something about it being written slightly more competently makes me like it even less

It’s a little weird for me to see all these interpretations of a young Ganondorf as some kind of perpetually -shirtless child supermodel when I personally see him as a cross between Amanda Rule-of-Rose (including the orphanhood and childhood adversity [she DID grow up in a British orphanage run by a neglectful scumbag in the 1910s-20s], its attendant emotional problems and attachment issues, precocious life skills, secret hideout, hilariously overwrought diary entries, and extremely off-putting ways of apologizing and trying to make friends) and an ichimatsu doll.

I know a lot of people think he’s handsome, and want to believe he was always handsome, but I feel like it’d be more fitting if his childhood self was this hilariously awkward, oversensitive, and vulnerable thing that he’s been desperately trying to get away from ever since, and yet in some ways hasn’t changed from at all. For example, he’d be just as likely to do the “leave a letter in their room and watch them through a crack in the door to make sure they read it” thing to someone he’s trying to sincerely apologize to as an adult as he would as a child.
