I wonder if. Maybe. Since we are back in an unfamiliar forest setting… this all might be a sort of mirror to s3? Or at least we are getting to one.

Back in the woods fresh off the cusp of death, though he did actually die this time to be fair, still injured but there is help this time. Arthur is still, despite it all, tentatively happy. Not like he was back in Addison.

The blood covered snow in the dark versus the green of a bright afternoon.

Last time Arthur was the most alone he has ever been, at least that we have directly been around for, with Yellow. A bitter partnership formed on lies and threats. Versus now, filled with a sort of hope for the future, not alone.

I just don’t think the parallel is unintentional. I just think it’s nice. Because there was so much hopelessness in that time—but he isn’t stuck in that anymore. At least not right now.

The forest is still isolating, yes, it still pushes off the path and leads deeper into a sense of uncertainty. But we don’t seem heading into the forest? We are coasting it, beside the path, but not on it. Still grounded to reality, not wandering aimless with no direction. Not falling deeper into it, heading for a point, not to be stolen away and tucked deeper.

Is that, perhaps, part of the theme of rebirth we have been leaning heavily on? Forced back into the unknown but it is better, and safer than it was before.

This forest is a place of security in contrast to the all the threats it previously provided because the situation has changed, the company has changed, their mentalities have changed.

They more or less know what they need, where to go, having a sense of direction and purpose. And I just think that’s a notably nice change.

You can forgive yourself and still aim to improve?? Like you don't have to forgive and forget, in fact I don't believe you should. Forgive your mistakes AND aim to stop making them.

Learn to live with the fact you fucked up and that those you hurt may never forgive you. Learn to live with the fact that you WILL fuck up and the people you hurt do not have to forgive you. The key is to acknowledge you fucked up, do what you have to do find a way to forgive yourself for your mistakes, and strive to learn from them.

Everyone fucks up (not necessarily abuses but still) and everyone ends up hurting others accidentally. The important thing is to do your damnedest to not do it again.

I (personally) think that's the biggest difference between abuse and accidental assholery. Abuse tends to be that they hurt someone, over and over, because they enjoy it and usually realize that they are hurting the person. (Exceptions usually include people who also grew up in abusive situations. This does not excuse their behavior, but they are most likely to learn and to stop being abusive)

Accidental assholery is where they hurt someone and either doesn't realize it hurts or only did it once.

Either way, you gotta learn to recognize that you fucked up, learn how to forgive yourself, and strive to not fuck up in the future.

the thing is, if your younger self was a bigot or an abuser, u can't make people forgive you. but you still gotta forgive yourself, like that's non-negotiable, dude. that happens before u can even ask the question of earning forgiveness from anyone lese

One massive, legitimate way to improve as a writer or artist or in any creative endeavor really, is to become absolutely obsessed with something and to allow yourself to be weird about it. Genuinely mean this btw.

there's a lot of people that have done things in the past that were bad, because they weren't taught any better, or they were in an overall toxic situation where EVERYONE was shitty (like a cult), or they were just at an especially low point and hurt others for it.

you don't have to forgive them. you don't have to ever speak to them again. you can be angry with them until you die if you want.

but society cannot function if we don't allow them to move on. to change their behavior and fuck off somewhere else and build meaningful relationships without bothering you again. we need a path for people to change, or nothing ever will.

Lex is Vlad reincarnated

So! Lex Luther, the greatest person to ever exist, had recently made a discovery.

A few weeks ago, a Cult of moronic simpletons had managed to kidnap him. Him! All for some stupid Demonic ritual where they sacrifice the wealthiest man they could find in return for something meaningless like "No More Poverty" or "No More Starvation".

He had survived, of course, and was unfortunately save by Supermoron.

But before the Man of Steel had busted in, he overheard something from the Cultists. Apparently they had chosen him for more than just his wealth, there was something more about his Soul that they were after. It felt "Divine", as if he had the soul of a God stuffed in a Mortal's body.

And obviously it must be correct. He was already the most intelligent man in the world, One of the wealthiest, and held more political power than any single man on the planet, so of course "God in disguise" was the next logical addition to that List.

Over the next few weeks he studied and prepared.

He needed to make sure that his efforts would be rewarded, that those Cultists had been correct about him despite their idiocy.

After buying up as many Magical Artifacts as he could related to Identity and Soul, he tested himself on Each and Every One. And Lo and Behold, he is truly a God.

Well, the Reincarnation of One. Apparently this was common in immortal beings such as himself, reincarnating themselves into mortal bodies as a sort of Vacation from their Duties. All he needed to do now was find a way to regain his Memories and Power without dying, and he would truly become a God On Earth.

A few more weeks of Preparation, and he was ready.

Apparently the Manchild of Steel had caught onto his plan in that time. His Ego probably couldn't bear another God living in the same City as himself, so he tried to stop Lex's plans of Ascension. Thankfully, in his research he had discovered his Rival's vulnerability to Magical Attacks, and set up countermeasures for him and his Breakfast Club should they attempt to interfere.

He stepped into the Ritual Circle, and began his Ascension to Godhood.

Try as they might, the League could not foil his plans this time. The Ritual Circle lit up with a sickly green light, and expanded to cover his entire body. The Ritual began to finally complete itself.

He had Won.

Vlad stood at the center of the circle for a few moments. He took in all his Memories of his most recent Life, and Facepalmed so hard he was sure The Badger heard it back in the Realms.

Ten Tousand Years of Therapy specifically to curb his egotistical tendencies, and That is how he decides to spend his most recent Life? Acting as a Billionare Supervillain attacking a well meaning Hero for nothing less than Ego?! He even Cloned them!? Had he learned NOTHING!?!?

He didn't really feel like explaining everything to them, and he technically still had about 40 years left on his Vacation...

He simply turned his back to them, flew back to his Mansion, turned back into his Human Form, and set about his Day. Maybe he could right a few of the wrongs he had done on this life?

It would certainly throw his current Nemesis for a loop. And while he may not Hate him anymore, he definitely still liked to Mess with him.
