Boy howdy do I love my Sabbat Malk. My littlest guy with plot armor. Not allowed to die for reasons that I figured out but the other players didn't put the pieces together for.

So this is Apollo, it is the name he chose for himself after realizing he could see the future and getting a big ego because of it. He's got a ton of Auspex, the Eyes of Chaos discipline power (recently introduced in V5 btw! it's so fun, give it a try) the Oracular Visions merit, and another merit that lets him get dreams about the future. His official derangement/bane is that he suffers from hallucinations, many of which he believes are also visions of the future, but unofficially I like to joke that his insane self-confidence is also a derangement. He's also picked up another one where he mistakes random people for his sire.

He was born back in in the 1940s and was embraced impulsively in the 1960s after accidentally catching his sire on camera. He was a professional photographer and still keeps up the photography even in his unlife.

He has a terrible relationship with his sire. Thomas treats him like a cameraman and gave him the nickname "cameraboy". He's expected to always be around to catch Thomas on film. Part of Thomas's derangement of believing that he's in a TV show and everyone else is a paid actor, with the exception of his childe of course. The initial blood bond from his embrace pretty quickly curdled into a deep hatred of his sire.

A few months before the beginning of our Sabbat game, Apollo's visions led him to meet a Lasombra by the name of Garcia Ortiz, whom he is lightly obsessed with getting a photo of and also just wants to bang. Apollo already hates how he is treated for being a Malkavian and hates that people don't take his oracular visions serious. Garcia just has to try a tiny bit to convince him to defect from the Camarilla and join the Sabbat.

He wasn't allowed into his mentor's pack in case of nepotism but he's got a very fun pack regardless. As early as session 1 he was already losing Humanity. They're currently working to get him on a Path of Enlightment so he doesn't become a wight. His biggest complaint with the training is how much he's had to interact with fire. The Sabbat aren't as averse to fire as the average kindred, but Apollo is more averse to fire than the average Camarilla.

His most recent antics in the game is that he was separated from the rest of the pack for a bit for Path Training with his mentor (a very cute Ventrue antitribu), and ended up going on an infiltration mission into a city that had recently been taken over by the Camarilla. It turns out the mostly-empty city is bait to distract the Sabbat's attention from the Camarilla's actual target, and the guy they put in charge of that bait city is Thomas. Apollo is satisfied with letting the guy sit and rot in his false Princehood. Eventually I will diablerize him and also recruit his newest childe because HOW DARE YOU EMBRACE SOMEONE ELSE. HOW DARE YOU BRING SOMEONE ELSE INTO THIS MESS.

The ceo of this hellsite having the AUDACITY to complain about harassment and online pile-ons like that’s not the core issue here, and the daily experience of thousands of trans women on this hellsite. And then to post about his “beliefs and principles” to “prove” he’s not transphobic, rather than taking accountability or meaningful action to address the harm he has directly caused. And in that beliefs and principles bullshit he never uses the words TRANS or TRANSGENDER. He only uses LGBTQ+ or gender identity. Like sir, you say you’re not transphobic, but your language, actions, and leadership of this hellsite sure say otherwise. This is not just a “LGBTQ issue,” it’s an issue of transphobia and transmisogyny. At least use the right language you piece of wet cheese. The whole thing is shameless and disgusting.

YAAAAY i finished the design exercise for Wilderwest. I dont think i'm actually going to do anything with this OCverse, but I wanted to sketch the whole idea out.

The concept is a magic wild west/americana setting that follows three sets of characters. Furnace and Lignite as they explore the nature of magic ore that pulled them into the world, Sonora and Sierra on a revenge path to kill a magician named Chupacabra, and Alto and Cirrus as they trek around the content to find the vulture mother responsible for weather.

It's funny to think about how all of Shuiyuntian and Cangyan Sea were subjected to this like, thirty minute makeout session between XLH and DFQC. They couldn't look away, because hello Taisui was there? They just had to sit there watching them do this forever. Whole scenes happened while they were still making out. The entire exchange between XLH and DFQC in his sea of emotions happened while they were still making out.

'Xiyun' just got married in front of all of Shuiyuntian, to their god of war, and now she's in one of those world's longest continuous kiss competitions with their most loathed and feared enemy.

It must have completely broken their brains. It's hilarious to think about, in retrospect.

ALSO!! The people of Shuiyuntian not knowing how to react to Dongfang Qingcang's death! The mix of emotions after it happened!! Their enemy is dead, but he also--- saved the world? Should they be happy? Is he to be admired? If he could do something selfless, were some of the things they thought they knew about him wrong? After all, they now knew Yunzhong had lied to them for thirty thousand years about him being dead.

Does Yunzhong spin it that DFQC was messing with Taisui for evil deeds, and then was taken over? Of course Changheng would have figured out the truth immediately, and Yunzhong would know this isn't actually what happened by the presence of glazed fire.

But is there ever a point where the idea that died of his own hubris became a common one? What corrected this? Was it Changheng, or was it Xiao Lanhua, when she was ready to come forward. Maybe even XLH, backed by CH.

And what of the goddess; could she be fully trusted now? She did defeat Taisui, but she was also, you know... see the above. AND she is the very 'moon tribe spy' that so many had seen save DFQC after Lucheng. They might not have connected the dots at the time of the wedding, but they certainly would now (talking normal civilians here; of course those in the water pavilion knew).

Knowing how Cangyan Sea would react is easy, but Shuiyuntian? That's really interesting to think about.

A few days ago our Storyteller prepared a special one-shot VtM session for us: we got nearly blank character sheets with only a name and a few stats, and our amnesiac characters had to escape the Hunters' prison they woke up in while slowly trying to regain their memories and defeat a demon and the Infernalist who summoned it.

In the end, they remembered who they were: Godot aka Alstroemeria, First Childe of the Seraphim Lily and First Finger of the Black Hand; and his sister Miri aka Bloom, Fifth Childe of Lily and Fifth Finger of the Black Hand. They chose to temporarily abandon their memories in order to go undercover on a very dangerous mission, in which they of course succeeded.

I realize my problem is I could probably imagine a non-canon scenario in which Ahru could bone down with just about anyone (though definitely not everyone) actually. 😂

I feel like they could have such a cute little romantic, no-strings attached friendly fling - but at the same time Cirina deserves the moon, stars, and sun. She deserves 'settling down' in the steppes and getting wifed up, or whatever she wants. 😌

2023 Year End Fic Wrap Up

It feels like I wrote a lot less this year than previous years, but I think it’s less about word count and more that my two big projects, Fugue and Mezzo, sucked up my entire mental bandwidth and I just didn’t have capacity to kick out one shots like I have in the past. I have a bunch of ideas for fun one shots, but not enough time or energy to realize them.

Also, this number is by no means accurate. My Mezzo Leftovers document is sitting at 11.3k, and Fugue finished up with a scrapheap of 28.3k. Gosh, it's hard to believe Fugue was actually 2023. It feels like years ago. Just writing it aged me 10 years. XD

Smut scenes written (if applicable): None. Did I daydream frequently and in great detail about how Sam and Kaidan reconcile in ME3? Yes. Could I write it in my sleep at this point? Also yes. Did I write a word of it? No.

New things I tried: 2nd person POV, Mordin POV, and EDI POV were all new and very scary things I tried, and think were largely successful (jury is still out on EDI and Mordin because only my beta has seen it, but I’m pleased with them).

Fic I spent the most time on: Probably Mezzo, because I wrote more of it than Fugue in 2023.

Fic I spent the least time on: Probably Capriccio, because it was short and mostly wrote itself.

Favourite thing I wrote: Well…I wrote so little outside of the long fics, because they have sucked up all my time and spoons. Fugue is something I am so proud of, but Mezzo has been so fun.

Favourite thing I read: A Sip of Serenity was a Spec Recs Kaidan & Liara treat fic for me by @screwyouflightlieutenant and I love it with an unholy love. Also, Madrigal and Volta by @dandenbo are PHENOMENAL stories you should drop everything and read.

Writing goals for next year: Finishing Mezzo sounds ambitious, but I guess I can be ambitious in January. XD

blessed samhain!!

I feel like for all the sabbats, samhain especially, I see a ton of big fancy rituals and inspiration, and while all that looks fun, I do not have the time or materials for that.

let me know, what are all you actually doing for samhain?

I'll be hanging out at a friend's house, we don't have any big plans besides eating candy and maybe burning a candle or two. you don't need big plans to have a great samhain night!
