Batman is suck a fucked series from a writing perspective when you realize they will never stop stroking Dick (lewd joke intended). He's the golden boy, the sidekick they love and they know most fans love him. The funniest part of this is they barely even care about Bruce anymore since all they want is for him to look as awful as possible.
Tbh, my general sense is that Dick is kinda like... the lucky one? In that he's relatively easy to manage and has a very easy role in the Batman narrative that the others kind of don't right now. He supports Bruce (no real long term conflict), and has his own city, own supporting cast and own romantic subplot readers care about. I don't think it's any particular favouritism, it's just the boon of being popular and easy to manage. (God knows Didio really wanted that guy dead)
As a counterpoint, Jason is also very popular but he's really not easy to manage because he's popular in two very different ways (Batman that kills vs sadboy come back to the family :<) that aren't really very cohesive. DC really really struggles to walk that tightrope AND maintain the status quo, to say nothing of the fact that fans empathise with Jason in ways DC really does not want them to (yes feel sad for him, but you're not supposed to agree with him) and they keep accidentally making Bruce look like the bad guy (because people empathise with Jason instead of seeing it as a tragedy that he and Bruce end up fighting).
And compared to Nightwing, who is relatively simple to manage, that is a turbo-nightmare where no-one is going to be happy.
Like, I genuinely don't think Bruce is meant to look bad. He's meant to be very cool and very sad and the weight of the world is on his shoulders but he's a good person, and everyone else plays a really awkward second fiddle to that. (despite DC's actual intentions, prioritising Bruce's feelings and using everyone else as collateral or accessories Because He's The Main Character really does not fly in certain circles. especially not batfamily-oriented ones that see him as a father-figure first and a superhero second).
I think Batman as a series is in a really awkward place for several reasons;
Batman is meant to be the main character. Many people are not here for him.
Batman is currently popular on the back of things like tumblr's misinterpretations Wayne Family Adventures, aka wholesome family bonding. This is not standard fare for the actual comics or their traditional overwrought soap opera drama and results in a major mismatch of expectation in certain circles. Trying to move this existing audience over into standard comics while still preserving their original fanbase that loves violent soap operas ends results in major and disconcerting tonal whiplash. Applying the 'superheroes can never be happy' principle to the 'wholesome found family' can have some awful implications.
The Batfamily is huge and popular, and trying to make use of all of them in ongoing storylines and keep them meaningfully distinct when a chunk of them don't have anything else going on besides Batman/Detective Comics etc. and their storylines are trapped in another continuity is a fucking nightmare. Reinventing the characters flies in the face of what made them popular and you can't re-tread old ground and/or DC can't actually recapture , so there's a lot of stagnancy in a very large cast here.
The preservation of the status quo in Gotham is not helping anyone. Characters like Jason and Damian are stuck in a rut where the storylines they're built for require changes to the status quo and the passage of time, but DC isn't ready to jump there yet so they just end up looping endlessly. Characters like Tim, Cass and Stephanie are popular legacy characters but can no longer be what made them popular, so they're just. There. Cast bloat is real!
(Like, seriously, Tim is fucked. Tim is really popular so he's still here. But Tim is so fucked)
Personally, I'd be far more interested in seeing self-contained stories, slightly-left-of-canon Elseworlds or a full 'World-XXX' alternate universe that's paced out more like a manga or contained in a video game (and therefore allows character arcs/an overarching plot to breathe a bit more while still progressing), because I think that's the best way for DC to get mileage out of some of these characters and let them grow in new ways (or re-explore characters as they used to be ) that canon can't allow...
(My dearest wish was to revisit the type of status quo reset that was in Batman Reborn, but Gotham Knights totally fucked that over so I'm not sure I trust this overcautious DC to have the guts to do what needs to be done to make an engaging storyline there)

A few days ago I had a birthday, and what better way to celebrate than with a Turbo themed party, right(?????
I'll probably tag this in groups for the series and not just the movie, i really want to share it with everyone jsjsjs i'm so happy~
Tumblr media
This is how the room looked. After it was all over, I ended up posting the figures in my room. Please ignore the fact that Whiplash is not there X'D due to things in life we did not make a figure of him, although we already had it made for my room.
Tumblr media
We also had a piñata made of this guy, and the truth is I loved it too much 💖💖💖
Tumblr media
Of course.... Still it had to be broken
Tumblr media
We had some candy bags made. This image is recent, I had not taken a photo of one until now
Tumblr media
Here are my friends and I, and as you can see, we have character shirts made for each one.It was no surprise to them that the party was for Turbo, they know very well how big of a fan I am of this thing jsjsjs
Tumblr media
Sadly I forgot to take a photo of the cake, although it was more or less like the photo, except that we stuck some mini figures of the characters on it with some toothpicks.
Tumblr media
We did a lot of things that day, but I just wanted to share with you the Turbo theme.
I didn't even know I needed to have a themed party for this franchise until that day jsjs Without a doubt, one of the best days of my life :') really i loved it 💖💖💖
You know, I apologize if there were any writing errors, I use the translator.

welp, going to bed after i type this, but have this other random dsaf headcanon of mine:
so like. Henry can sorta kinda astral project himself out of the Void (not really astral projection but y'know. It's Along Those Lines), but only if he attaches himself to a person or other living being in the Real World.
now, you'd think that he'd either attach himself to like. an unsuspecting Freddy's employee and just do a repeat of Dave or something (just less physical abuse and without the surgery. because he can't do that now). or y'know. reattach himself to Dave.
nope! he picked Jack.
y'know. The Guy That Literally Fucking Hates Him.
so uh. Dsaf 2 Was A Time.
you've got Jack, who's getting whiplash from several things at once (Dave behavior around him has escalated drastically to near-violent levels, Dee's in the same building as him, his brother is literally his manager), and is also being forced to deal with Henry's Bullshit. which Definitely helps and doesn't cause a single problem nope not a one (< lying)
so like. they're practically at each other's throats the whole time. Jack is being (understandably) very passive aggressive about the whole Peter Death Thing. Dee also knows Henry's here, and She Fucking Hates It. Blackjack is freaking out because This Wasn't Supposed To Happen.
oh, and if you thought the hatred only applied to the Good Route? you'd be wrong!
Dave: Hey, Sportsy, did you ever meet Henry?
Jack, knowing full well Henry's in the room: Oh no, never met him, never even heard of the guy. Henry? Who's Henry? I don't know a Henry :)
Henry: Well, fuck you, too.
- dogboyjackkennedy
I LOOOOOOVE THAT he's such a turbo cunt I need to take a bite out of his bone. The migraines Jack be dealing with Christ ALIVE 😭😭😭😭

Here's my personal top of the turbo ships that I'm aware of. They all have no particular order and these will have my personal opinion.
- Turbo/Skidmark
Okay, I recognise that they are great! In the show they have a very good chemistry and they compliment each other so well. This makes them being very good friends with each other and also being good sidekicks. That's why I seeing having races and adventures together If I would ship them I'd say yes, but more as a bromance or platonic relationship than a romantic one, but I respect and understand other people who ships them in the romantic way, besides , they look pretty neat together.
- Turbo/Whiplash
Similar to Turbo/Skidmark, they have a great teacher/apprentice relationship and also a good chemistry. It is amazing to seeing them being very good friends in the show and also Turbo learning a lot from Whiplash. Again, if I would ship them, it would be in platonic/bromance way, but I understand and respect everyone who ships them in the romantic way.
- Hayaku/Thora
While at first i didn't see it and I ended up shipping the both of them with Turbo at the same time. Now I understand why people does ships them. They seemed to be very good friends in the game night and now I recognise that they could have a great dynamic not only as friends but as a romatic relationship as well. I can also see them talking about Turbo xD.
- Smoove/Burn
This is less known in the fandom, but maybe they can work as the usual "cool guy and sassy girl" type of relationship. Aside from that, I don't have anything else to say.
- Smoove/Whiplash and Shadow/Skidmark
I recognise that I barely saw these ships in the fandom, but I only see them as good friends.
- Turbo/Hayaku and Turbo/Thora
I first started shipping them but after thinking for a time, it won't work in both ships. Mostly because Hayaku hates Turbo and things may go the same way in the show with Thora. The game night didn't also help.
- Turbo/Hardcase
Aside of them being funny. I cannot think this ship will work.
- Turbo/Burn
Maybe at this point I'm known in this fandom as "The guy who ships Turbo and Burn" and I admit this is my favourite ship in the fandom. I think it's pretty fun ad interesting to come up with situations and stuff about how Turbo and Burn's dynamic and relationship would be after I found out they we're supposed to be together in the beginning. While it's very cute seeing them that way, this "feisty girl and clumpsy guy" is limited to AUs and "what-if" stuff because I'm aware that this fandom likes Burn/Chet and I understand that. Besides, it's great how they have stuff in common like racing and their dynamic is great.
So that's all the opinions of the ships in this fandom. I don't know if there's other ship left but I can think about something for it.

tell me about your hyperspecific headcanons about dg and blaz. anything you can think of
I'm just gonna talk abt mobility for now bcs otherwise I'd be writing a thesis. Maybe send an ask abt other things if you think I'd have an idea or two on them. Because DG moves so fast, if my memory serves me his unit speed got calculated to like... 50mph-ish? He has a LOT of velocity and force behind his locomotion, enough to allow him to tip DANGEROUSLY close to the floor. At full sprint I like to imagine him tilted forward like a missile staring dead straight ahead of him. Like a border collie herding sheep. He leads with a shoulder but is still capable of aiming and firing. With more of that in game logic reinterpreted this is also why he prefers running diagonally than just straight forward or sideways, it's a lot easier to change directions gradually then having to eat the brunt of his momentum to turn around. DG can't jump because of the weight of his armour also. I also feel most UAC soldiers had this sort of super speed as part of some turbo steroids they'd be fed, but DG ofc does it better than all of them bcs he's the best boy. Blaz CAN jump but doesn't need to because the damn castle is completely flat floor by floor anyway, but he jumps when he escapes (YEAH!) Because Wolfenstein 3D has no momentum either - and under vanilla circumstances no strafing while moving forward - Blaz is REALLY nimble. He doesn't have heavy armour, just heavy guns. He is super light on his feet and is nigh immune to any sort of whiplash. He does not have DG's blind speed but instead is quite slippery!

Even If We’re Different | Turbo X F!Reader (Human AU)
Tumblr media
A/N: This is based off of the Turbo F.A.S.T series. I decided to make this a human a.u., otherwise I’d be automatically tagged as insane for a snail and reader pairing. Now, if I did do that, the reader would have to be a snail too.
The snails’ names are considered racer nicknames in this a.u. I cannot imagine having “Turbo” as an actual student name. Turbo is Theo. Whiplash is Whitney. Chet is Chet. Burn is Bernice. Skidmark is Yahir. Smoove Move is Darion. White Shadow is Matthew.
(Picking these names other than the canon ones is hard as heck.)
You’ll only see Turbo (Theo), Burn (Bernice), and Smoove Move (Darion) here though.
–
Pairing(s): Turbo (Theo) X Reader
Universe: Human, where the F.A.S.T Crew are university students with racing as a hobby. Turbo is officially the youngest racer, winning a national competition at 18 years old. (I have no exact clue how car racing competitions work in real life, so take this fan fiction with a grain of salt.)
Summary: You get insecure of your friendship with Turbo when you start believing that he and Hayaku get along well. (You also have a crush on him, but you haven’t confessed yet.)
Word Count: ~1700
Warning(s): Insecurity of appearance and interests.
–
You could only scoff. Your pencil scribbled harshly across your notebook. All while you overheard Hayaku giggle at whatever Theo said.
You glanced up at the man to find his eyes and infatuated smile for her. You scowled. The sight irritated you, but you could not help yourself from your insecurity.
Hayaku did look beautiful with her silky hair. Besides— you thought as you frowned to yourself— she was a professional drift racer and a celebrity for her infamous hot sauce back in Japan. She had something in common with Theo, while you were only a university student taking on art minor and computer science major.
Speaking of which, you sometimes wondered how you even managed to become friends with Theo’s bunch of racecar drivers. You and Theo’s brother Chet were the only ones not obsessed with the sport. Regardless, you were grateful for having such friends at least.
Though your heart felt bitter, you shook your head. You needed time to debug a program, not to grieve over Theo. You groaned, “I forgot the other brace at the end of the if-statement—.”
“You’re a very funny man, Turbo-san!” Hayaku laughed behind her hand. “I surely look forward to our official drift race.”
Theo smiled. “As do I.”
The grip on your pencil tightened. You could not handle this, so you turned away from the race track, putting in a pair of earphones to distract yourself. Your arm leaned on the empty row behind you. Then when you were finally about to settle down, somebody snatched your earphones out, holding them overhead.
“H-hey Smoove!” Darion, otherwise known as Smoove Move, was one of yours friends and a member of the F.A.S.T crew.
“You’re looking deep down in the dumps, hun,” Darion hummed, dropping the earphones back into your hand. “This ain’t the (Name) I know— the one always down to go with Turbo.”
“Yeah, her man’s busy talking to that Japanese girl,” Bernice, nicknamed as Burn, remarked, blowing a bubble.
You sighed. “Don’t say it like that, he’s not my boyfriend.”
“Yet.”
Your hands covered your face. “Can’t believe you guys know about my crush on Turbo except him himself,” you mumbled. “What’s worse is that he’s falling in love with someone else in front of my eyes.”
“Ay, don’t be hard on yourself. The right kind of love moves slowly.” Darion sat beside you on the bleachers. “There’s more to it than you know. I mean, even Turbo’s feeling all kinds of emotions for you too.”
You closed your notebook and faced your two friends. “What?”
Bernice shoved you. “Don’t tell us you never noticed a single thing the past few months. Especially our 2nd year party that one night.”
“Whoo, I remember it like it was yes-ter-day!” Darion laughed. “That look on Turbo’s face had me rollin’!”
Bernice smirked. “Hell, he was so pissed off when he caught you hanging out with one of our rival team’s star, Fusion.”
“Fusion?”
“Nickname. His real name’s Aiden.”
The name clicked in your head. “Ah
.” You recalled how cocky he sounded, belittling your friends to make himself look good. You had to admit: Aiden was an entertaining guy, but when he asked you to a dance, you turned him down.
“You weren’t there, but he challenged our boy to a race. Couldn’t win even when they tried so hard to copy him.”
“But he still got a hard spot for Fusion.” Bernice crossed her arms. “Turbo was crushing his can and ruining Chet’s suit with soda all over him. At least you gotta have seen that.”
“How ‘bout that time when Hardcase tried asking her out, Burn?”
“Ah man, Turbo’s face was priceless!”
“Got his finger tapping so quick on the table and everything—.”
“If you are trying to tell me Turbo’s been crushing on me, then explain why does he look like he’s going to marry Hayaku after a few minutes of meeting her?”
“Hey, hey, I’m only telling you this from a man’s view: first sights in love are with the looks. I bet you even if they do get together, Turbo ain’t gonna last two dates when he sees what’s really behind her.” Darion grimaced. “And I’m picking up a bad groove. See how her smile’s turned over ‘round—. Hey, where’d my boy Turbo go—?”
“What ‘bad groove,’ Smoove?”
The three of you were startled by a voice from behind. You turned to find Theo walking down the bleachers.
“Don’t you scare us again, Turbo,” Bernice remarked.
Theo chuckled. “Sorry guys, I had to change out of my suit. Why are you two here anyway?” he asked. “You don’t usually come to my practices.”
“Team meeting’s not on until a couple of minutes later,” Darion answered. “Got nothing much, so might as well spend our time here. Besides, (Name) here’s looking a little lonely, so why not be her company?”
Theo’s eyebrows furrowed. Your eyes peered toward Darion, whose hand signaled you to wait.
“So anyway,” Darion spoke again, “what’s new for you, Turbo?”
The man shook his head, a smile returning to his face. “Man, there’s this girl from Japan, right? Her name’s Hayaku. She traveled to here from Japan to race against me! Well, more like her hot sauce manager challenged Tito. But I think she likes me.” Theo grinned.
“Watch it,” Bernice warned, “I heard this Hayaku girl’s a competitive one.”
“Aren’t we all?”
“No, no.” Darion shook. “She mean she’s a hothead. May be pretty, but pretty rude too.”
“Look, Turbo,” Bernice said, “every competitor you meet who looks nice always backstab you.”
Theo crossed his arms. “Not everyone’s like that. I’m sure Hayaku’s different.”
“My boy, you’re racing over who has better hot sauce.”
You opened your notebook again, not getting into the conversation.
“Well I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt. She’s even offered to teach me how to drift!”
Bernice rolled her eyes. “Oh my god.”
Theo huffed. “Anyway, the sun’s about to set. We better get going before Whiplash starts lecturing us.”
Darion and Bernice shared a glance and snickered. “Sure, brother, take. your. time.”
Theo’s eyes widened. Flustered, he glared down at them as they stood up from the bleachers and walked off. Theo tapped his shoe, waiting until his two friends were gone, before he faced you.

But of course, there was an awkward silence. You continued jotting down some notes, thinking Theo would leave you be.
“
You’ve been pretty quiet, (Name).”
You pursed your lips. “There’s not much to tell you, so I rather not bother you by talking.”
“What? You’re not bothering anyone. I actually like your voice— I mean— I don’t mind you talking at all,” Theo stumbled. “The only time that’d be a problem is when Skidmark is convinced the aliens are going to invade the stock market.” He leaned forward to see your face, but his small smile disappeared when he found no reaction out of you. “
I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were feeling lonely,” Theo spoke up. “If I’d known that before, I wouldn’t have forced you to come every practice, (Name).”
“I’m fine, Turbo,” you assured him. “I don’t mind watching you on my own. Plus, it makes for a great chance to study.” You paused for a moment. “It’s just that
there’s a larger crowd here today than any.”
“It happens when an international racer decides to visit.” Theo chuckled, trailing off into another silence. He rubbed his nape nervously. “
You’re also not coming with us?”
You huffed. “You forget that I’m not a racer like you, Turbo.”
“I—. Well, I don’t ever remember that stopping you from hanging out with us.”
“This is a crew meeting?”
“(Name), come on.” He pushed you. “I know for sure Whiplash doesn’t mind. You’re our friend.”
“A friend who isn’t into racing like you.” The words slipped your tongue this time.
“(Name),” Theo said sternly, “What’s gotten into you today? You never cared about this just a few days ago.”
You sighed. “I just don’t—. I’m sorry. I was just thinking about us.”
“What do you mean?”
“We’re friends and all,” you closed your notebook and hugged your legs, “but I’m not sure how it even began. I’m an art and computer science student. You’re into mechanical engineering and racing.”
Theo sat down beside you. “Are you worried we couldn’t stay as friends just because we’re not into the same interests?” A frown formed on his lips. “Okay— I admit: most friends fall under that category. But you and I— the crew do have something in common. Something outside of our hobbies. For one, we all have dreams to work for. We’re big competitors in our fields. And
.”
Theo had to stop himself from mentioning his meeting with you at the university library, where he spotted you sprinting past him to borrow a well-liked book before someone else claimed it. Theo had to stop himself from talking about the time he watched you hype your teammates up for a competition.
“There are times when I really admire your determination, (Name).”
His eyes told nothing but his true feelings. Theo himself was determined to stay friends with you.
“Stay.”
Your ears reddened, and you turned to hide your flustered smile while pushing Theo away. You missed the way Theo’s eyes softened when the sunset’s golden light reached your features.
“Yeah,” he spoke softly, “Hayaku’s wrong about you.”
~
Bonus:
“(Name)!” He waved his hand towards you, but your back was turned to him. “Huh, I guess she’s really busy with her project.”
“Is this friend of yours also a racer, Turbo-san?”
“Well actually, she’s not.”
Hayaku peered at you. “But surely she must be a distraction to you, no?”
“I’m sorry?”
“Please excuse me. My experience is having friends who don’t have the same interests can pull you down, Turbo-san. Since we’ll be having a drift race against one another, I must teach you the art of drifting for a fair—.”
“You know, I don’t appreciate you talking down on my friend like that.” Theo narrowed his eyes. “But I’ll take on your offer for drifting lessons. See you.” He scoffed and walked off to the changing room.

Do you have any headcanons for turbo fast characters?
I’m so glad you asked lol I’m gonna go by each character. Some backstory is changed and character stuff is changed bc the show massacred my babies
 i still enjoy the show.
Turbo:
- Has autism and ADHD
- He’s nonbinary (he/they) and he likes boys I don’t care what the show tells me
- (Human AU) He’s half Mexican but grew up in a suburban predominantly white neighborhood so he didn’t learn much Spanish until he met Tito
Whiplash:
- He’s Bisexual and Transmasc (Whitney is a unisex name but he still hates it)
- When he ran away, he actually didn’t know what to do with his life until Tito found him and had the idea for snail racing
I don’t have much idea for him yet lol
Skidmark:
- He’s Transmasc (gnc) and gay
- He has Paranoia and Psychosis (this is technically canon but the show treats mental illness horribly)
- He also has Autism (his hyperfixations are STEM related stuff and conspiracy theories)
- (Human AU) His family made him the golden child and wanted him to be perfect 24/7. They hated that he was trans and gay so he ran away, got hired by Paz as a mechanic and that’s how he met the racing crew
- (Also Human AU) He’s Japanese/Blasian
- He was the last person to join the crew (before Turbo showed up ofc)
- He’s dating (and I’m an open relationship with) Smoove Move
Smoove Move:
- He’s Transmasc, gay and Asexual
- He has autism but masks it constantly bc he’s always seen as the “calm and chill one” (his hyperfixation is music ofc)
- He was definitely the “parent” sibling for all three of his brothers and he hated it
- He doesn’t know what got him into racing, he was just taken in by the people in Starlight Plaza and racing became his thing
- (Human AU) He loves loose clothing for fashion and sensory reasons. Only exceptions is if he’s in a formal place.
Burn:
- She’s Bisexual
- She’s Hispanic (Puerto Rican bc I’m PR and I say so lol)
I
don’t have much for her either.
Chet:
- He’s Panromantic/Asexual but he doesn’t know it yet
White Shadow:
- He’s AroAce. All he wants is food and his bee thingy on his shell.
Once again, I don’t have much lol
I hope this was enough! I’m still figuring out my own headcanons and stories for them.

You know, I’ve heard a lot of conversation about how Turbo fast has a lot of interesting plot lines that never went anywhere, and mysteries that could be really interesting that are seemingly ignored in favor of adding more comedic episodes, but
(press read more, this is a long one!)
there seemed to be a sort of change in direction when it comes to what the show was supposed to be about, really. Or that it wasn’t really supposed to be a show about facing villains and uncovering those mysteries entirely, and the show simply wasn’t given enough time to get ready and solve those problems they vaguely hinted to in some of the more “action packed” episodes.
There’s a pretty cool interview with Chris P. that gives insight into the production of Turbo fast, where he says things about the mindset on creating the show that changed how I personally felt about it, even though I’d already watched it ~15 times in the past 11 years and felt the same each time

The show had always been created with the goal of fleshing out the cast, particularly the rest of the crew that were left to the sidelines as purely comedy, or used as a means to develop Turbo and Chet’s story and the plot of the movie as a whole. However there was a slight change in pace during development,
Tumblr media
I really think the best example of the change happens as early as the first episode, actually.
Crazy Fast has always been a spectacular episode of this show, that I’ve seen almost universal enjoyment of across fans whether or not they like the direction the show went in, or whether or not they even like turbo fast in the first and just prefer the movie

It’s also one of the strangest episodes in the series when compared to tone of the rest of them.
CF could be described as a more action-comedy focused episode, but there are actually plenty of those in the series (Turbo Drift is a particularly well received example in this case, which I and others agree is an episode that reaches similar quality of CF, which is certainly helped by its similar 22 minute runtime as opposed to being a segmented 11 min double episode like the rest of the series.) Yet, not many actually keep the same “vibes” even so.
I believe the difference between even the more action focused episodes and ESPECIALLY the comedic focused episodes and how they changed fan’s enjoyment and the quality of the writing (especially for the characters) can be best observed through Turbo, who can be argued to be the main protagonist of the series, and franchise as a whole.
If you’ve read this far i’d be really hopefully that you’ve at least watched the movie Turbo, and at least seasons 1 and 2 of Turbo Fast. (I’d be really surprised if you haven’t actually. Why are you here?)
While this is a post about the show, It’s kind of impossible to talk about Turbo’s character without briefly explaining his personality in the movie and how it transferred, changed and evolved going into the show.
In the movie, Turbo is an incredibly stubborn yet optimistic sort of guy. Quite literally doing things that could most definitely end in his death (see: lawnmower scene) just because he holds the genuine belief and hope that he can do it.
He is also sarcastic, rude even the slightest bit egotistical at times, a notable example being him laughing at Whiplash and the rest of the crew (which, at that point he was not yet a part of) because he believes himself to be somewhat better than them because they’re slow
only to be immediately humbled lol.
During Crazy Fast (which, I’ll from now on refer to as CF) , he retains these traits, just shows them in different ways!
Ironically, he also gets pretty humbled in this episode, like, multiple times, as he learns that his way isn’t really always the best way. We see another example of how despite his optimism (and, in a negative sense, his stubbornness) being one of his defining traits, it isn’t always impenetrable. His belief that he can overcome everything becomes a negative thing as he accepts Hardcase’s challenge without really any other choice, which puts everyone in danger.
A new trait that I personally did not see very much, if at all in the movie is that Turbo is also incredibly naive in this show. partially due to his default mode of thinking everything is gonna go as planned, and brazen (sometimes egotistical) belief that He’s Got This, (he doesn’t got it, fyi) and the fact that he is incredibly inexperienced as a racer.
His naivety is a very good example of taking traits that Turbo already possessed and amplifying them both to flesh out his character by highlighting parts about him the movie didn’t introduce itself, and to create more opportunities for comedic situations!
However during later seasons, particularly late season 2 and all of season 3, the shift in focus on writing for the show drastically changed how turbo’s traits were expressed

Sure, it was definitely funny. But even when I was the age of 7 years old watching this show instead of my pathetically elderly 17, I could notice that it wasn’t really the Turbo I loved seeing on the screen.
he seemed
 kind of stupid!
His optimism was still there, but he became so optimistic and naive that he lacked skepticism even when faced with obvious opposition, things he consistently took as a trigger to shift his opinion or even get mad at, seem nonexistent for the sake of moving the plot along. It drastically changes him to create room for stories that yes, while funny, lose any comedic value they might have had because it shouldn’t even be happening to happen in the first place, or at least not in the way it’s played out, because he just wouldn’t respond to the situation that way.
That isn’t always a bad thing, however! Sometimes characters have to do things they wouldn’t normally do. That’s kind of the entire point of creating new scenarios and episodes. If none of those things happened then it would kind of be an incredibly boring show, not funny or good at all.
It’s the way that the characters react under these situations that sort of make or break it, whether you’re trying to make the audience laugh, or any other emotion you aim to convey through your episodes.
While still flawed, a well executed example of pushing Turbo’s traits in a situation he wouldn’t normally allow is Adopt-A-Toad, which is an episode in the middle of season 1.
An awfully executed example is The Snailman, which embodies a lot of Turbo being uncharacteristically stupid
There are a lot more cases similar to The Snailman in this show rather than Adopt-A-Toad, unfortunately.
I’ve asked around in a Turbo fandom discord server people’s opinions about the show and gained a few common opinions about these changes, especially in character personalities and general “flanderisation.”
For starters, most people (including me) don’t actually have a problem with the fact that the show isn’t always racing or story focused. The characters and their shenanigans they get up to are what people watch the show for, and that interest aligns pretty well with the goal of production and the creation of the show in general. The purpose has always been to flesh out the characters and world these little snails would live in.
What people do have a problem with is how the characters almost entirely change from how they were established both in the movie and in the beginnings of the show in ways that do not make sense in order to be “funny.” When oftentimes, it doesn’t really work too much in later episodes, as it’s so extreme.
Common complaints on that front are about Turbo, Skidmark, and Burn, who most people agree are the worst victims of flanderisation throughout the series. (An honorable mention is Whiplash, and I’d personally add on Chet and Hardcase as well, although Hardcase less so as he is the only one of these picks who originates from the show and not the movie.)
Some claim and have problems with the fact that, despite the show’s focused on fleshing out characters, they didn’t actually get fleshed out all too much?! Some were given backstories or information about themself that either never went anywhere or were very, very one off jokes. Most complain about Whiplash and his mysterious past mentor, Breakneck which we never learned too much about, and the fact that some members of the crew weren’t really given as much care as he was, and his was never resolved

Personally I don’t actually have a problem with the whole Breakneck incident and never finding out what it is. To me, it seems like the purpose of it was to serve as a “hint,” a real thing that happened, while also being a joke. And it succeeded! Whiplash and Breakneck’s past and current dynamic is still treated seriously, and the joke probably would’ve been ruined had they actually said or shown what the incident was, but I can also agree with the fact that it would be pretty awesome to learn what happened.
One thing I undeniably agree with is that the rest of the crew, including Turbo and Chet who we know the most about, do have incredibly missed potential when it comes to their own stories. Like previously mentioned, many are relegated to jokes (I.e. Skidmark, whom of which has a few jokes referencing his family that range from really, really funny to nobody likes this episode and never comes back to rewatch it, so 99% of people don’t even remember that Skidmark said that, and also Why the hell does he hate his dad so much??)
Smoove is probably one of the best characters when it comes to “giving them things other than being in the crew,” what with his little brother and everything to do with that, which I won’t be getting too much into because I want to make a post about Buster EVENTUALLY

People are also pretty sad about the fact that certain villains never really get to return, particularly F.A.J.I.T.A, who I am also incredibly bummed about never getting any more screen time despite them being so, so interesting
but I suspect that it has less to do with the way the show changed and more we just didn’t get enough runtime to actually go about them again.
Regardless of the direction F.A.S.T. went, and all its shortcomings, it’s still a show that really changed my life. I made this post because I cannot stfu about racing snails
. Maybe there’s an alternate universe out there where all of our problems were addressed

Also. Yes, I am aware this show is for 14 year olds.. but like, I noticed all of this while watching when I was 9. If 9 year old me had the mind to I am sure he would also be making long ass tumblr posts about it.
Thanks 4 readinggg

absolutely, in berlermo's case palermo being a man has a large part of it working. imagine a female version of palermo: funny, egoistical genius engineer with violent tendencies and who knows what she wants - first of all a character like that wouldn't even fall for a misogynist like berlin and andrés wouldn't respect her (the way he respects martin) because she's a woman. i simply cannot see an equal-relationship between andrés and a woman.
You know, seasons 3-5 have played with Andres' character so much that at times I forget how much of a creep he was in the Mint. I'm grateful for all the asks I get because they often make me rewatch scenes; it's how I got to rewatch seasons 1 and 2 and on man, every time I see Mint!Andres I get such whiplash. He's genuinely terrifying, and I feel like all his interactions with women are either slimy or meant to instill fear or to degrade them. And I have to watch those scenes again because sometimes I forget, you know?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yes - this man doesn't respect women. It's hard to imagine the way he loves them, what kind of love can he have if he clearly doesn't respect them. I'm sure he thinks he loves them, he does (ironically?) dub himself as "romantic"; he even goes the route of grand gestures (the wedding song, the way he planned to live his remaining life with Tatiana) but the way he acts with them, the way he talks about them-- they tell a different story.
But we see less and less of that in the flashbacks from seasons 3 through 5. Maybe they'll spin the whole "five divorces = five times he believed in love" to somehow justify how he turned turbo-asshole in the Mint, but I don't believe for a second he wasn't always that person. So I'll have a hard time believing or getting invested in love stories because we all know the foundation they're built on, and how they all end.
Unless Pina and Pedro were being facetious, and the "madly in love" somehow means in love with whatever he's stealing, or (unlikely as it may be) with Martin. Or we'll see the trainwreck that's his lovelife through the eyes of the very unreliable narrator that is Berlin, which could have potential if done right - as in, not taken at face value.
**Interesting to think of Berlermo as heterosexual in the context of Andres' misogynism. If they did manage to have a professional relationship on par with canon!Berlermo, then it could only be because Andres wouldn't see genderbent!Martin as "one of the girls". And if by some twisted internalized misogynism, genderbent!Martin would fall in love with Andres, it would still be doomed to fail because - I believe - if Andres respected her enough to work with her, he wouldn't see her as a romantic/sexual prospect. This is all speculation, of course; but I agree, I also struggle to see a genderbent!Martin falling for Andres.

Ranking all Beyblade EDs
Let’s face it. We’re probably not getting a new ED until Burst ends since they’ve switched to the 10 minute format (which is strange because zero g had an ED). So I’m celebrating the EDs we have gotten so far by ranking them all. I’ll use the full/ extended versions when possible. Visuals aren’t as important but if they are exceptionally good I’ll mention it. So without further ado, here is my ranking of the Beyblade EDs
20. Urban Love (2002/V-Force ending 1): Possibly unpopular opinion but I never liked Urban Love as an ending. Maybe it’s because I’ve always seen Beyblade as more action oriented but it just feels like it doesn’t fit. In a vacuum however, this is a good song
19. Porporo (original series movie): Something is off with it. I can’t lay my finger on it but it feels off. Listen to it and tell me what you find. It kinda sucks that something I don’t even know drags an otherwise great ED down
18. Bey-Pop (Cho-Z/Turbo ending 1): Unpopular opinion but Bey-Pop was not a good ED. The art style isn’t bad. And the song isn’t either. It’s the severe mood whiplash it gives you. It’s really fun but it’s jarring and not in a good way
17. Bey-Pop Swing (Cho-Z/Turbo ending 2): Bey-Pop but even more fun and less mood whiplash. It’s not a massive upgrade but it still is an upgrade
16. A Better Place (Beywheelz): Less extreme version of Urban Love. Good song, just doesn’t seem to quite fit Beyblade
15. Hold Tight (Beywarriors Cyborg): Same as A Better Place, but slightly better
14. Oh Yes (G-Revolution ending 1): Here is where all the EDs are good. Oh Yes is good, it’s just against really strong competition. There is nothing about it I dislike it’s just the others I like more
13. Come Around (Beywarriors Beyraiderz): Unlike Urban Love, A Better Place, and Hold Tight, this one functions because of Beyraiderz’s pacing. Raiderz is a far slower season than Wheelz or even V-Force. It doesn’t cause any mood whiplash and the line “the battle is over, it’s time to move on” hits different after the last episode (although it doesn’t make much sense in other episodes)
12. What’s the Answer (2002/V-Force ending 2): Let’s get up, get up and stand up. It’s laid back enough to serve as an ED and upbeat enough to avoide mood whiplash with Beyblade’s intense action. I like it
11. Oozora Wo Koete Yuke (Explosion/Masters): Same as What’s the Answer but slightly better. Perfect balance between relaxing and upbeat
10. Cheer Song (2000): I don’t know why but I love it. Is it the beat? The vocals? I don’t know but it’s a great song
9. Believe (Burst): It fits the laid back mood of the first Burst season. Believe works really well here. If it was another season, like Metal Fury, it probably wouldn’t rank as high, but because it goes so well with the episodes it’s in, it’s in the top 10
8. Spinning the World (MFB movie): This has the benefit of being used only once, and so it has virtually no issues with not fitting the movie. Plus it’s a banger, even in a vaccum
7. To the Radiant Tomorrow (Fusion): Positions 7-5 are mostly interchanegable. To the Radiant Tomorrow, much like Spinning the World, it’s a banger that fits the series perfectly
6. Looking Up Similing (Zero-G/Shogun Steel): More relaxing that To the Radiant Tomorrow, it’s still a banger. And like Believe, it fits the more laid back mood of Shogun Steel (at least the first half)
5. Kaze No Fuku Basho (G-Revolution ending 2): It’s just a banger. And it fits the mood of the part of G-Revolution that it is used in
4. Destiny (Fury/4d): This is on my playlist. Even is it weren’t an ED, I’d still love it. And the name goes perfectly with the themes of Metal Fury
3. Sign of Wish (G-Revolution ending 3): This ending would normally be worthy of being number 1 on the list. It’s incredible. I absolutely adore the guitar and the vocals are perfect. It’s only at number 3 because postitions 1 and 2 transcend all concepts of “good” and “bad”
2. Beyxercise 2 (Evolution/ God ending 2): I know what you’re thinking. But let me explain. Bey-Pop and Urban Love all suffer from massive mood whiplash. Beyxercise 2 should be the same, but even worse. But Beyxercise 2â€Čs mood whiplash is so extreme that the only proper respone is to laugh at the sheer absurdity of it. 2 guys, dressed like a Nintendo Switch, doing a beyblade dance with some surprisingly good greenscreen effects. It’s also catchy as hell
1. Beyxercie (Evolution/ God ending 1): Everything I’ve said about beyxercise 2 but even better. I may or may not have done the Beyxercise dance multiple times

jdfjjfdjjsdfj ANON it’s literally a shitshow idk how caught up you are on the show but if it’s in response to my most recent txt post but then don’t worry, nothing has changed from yesterday other than my BRAIN POWER
literally i feel like . a ping pong ball getting whiplash from how i am going back and forth between feeling AMAZING abt the finale and feeling like complete and utter shit about it
condensed version is: ep 15x18 had a confession from cas to dean abt his GAY love from which point he was then immediately launched into super turbo hell. So Yeah It Looks Bad, but apparently a LOT of meta writers had anticipated smth like this happening??? so they feel completely vindicated and ready for full canon deancas and then all of us were clowning for a full week between 15x18 and the next ep but 15x19 was literally just like. Unimaginably Godly Bad like bad pacing, timing, plot resolution, all of it was complete shit??? and ended with some stale imagery of dean and sam driving into the sunset looking like :[ LMAO and then a montage of the past 15 seasons?? even tho this isn’t the actual finale??? there is so much meta i can’t summarize but you can find a good amount of it on my blog with #supernatural but also ??? ARE WE ALL CLOWNS FOR THIS??? maybe dean’s just gonna have a whole Heterosexual ending and the most we will get is him naming his child cassie <3

Some Kissing HCs with my F/Os
I did write this as a reader insert, just to be inclusive, I guess.
Thrax(Osmosis Jones)-
Very passionate and confident. He tends to bite or lick your lips. Really into Frenching if you're down for that. Also the type to steal kisses
Abe Sapien(Hellboy)-
Very sweet but nervous at first. Tries to move at whatever pace you want. He gains confidence later on. Very romantic. Steal a kiss, and he'll be a mess
Piccolo(DBZ)
No confidence, tries but it's obvious he's never kissed. Very stiff. He gains confidence later in the relationship. Deep and passionate when that happens.
Terasaka Ryoma(Assassination Classroom)
A little forceful at first. He doesn't know any better, so at first it feels like he's trying to head butt you. He's trying. More gentle later on, tho.
Donnie(rottmnt)-
Any confidence he had before is immediately banished by having to show affection. He's really nervous at first but he's more sure of himself later on(like give or take three kisses in). Legit reads Wikihow articles on how to kiss properly.
Whiplash(Turbo FAST)
God help this man. VERY nervous. Tries to play it cool, but his facade breaks almost immediately. Wants to be romantic but is just adorably awkward. Please be the one to start the affection, this man wants to but just doesn't know how
Lucoa(Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid)-
Please lead the way, she knows how to kiss but she wants to do it at your pace. Her pace is very... fast, let's say. Very passionate and sure of herself, even at the beginning. Will try to restrain herself and ask for consent
