There's this one stream from June where Hbomberguy plays Tactical Brach Wizards and chats with Tom Francis (the game's creator, writer and developer), and the whole thing is really interesting! They talk mostly about the development of the game and some of what Tom says is already on the Developer's Comment in the special edition, BUT there are some lore things/fun details that I found interesting:

Being a wizard in this world is regarded more or less the same way as being a doctor in ours ("It's impressive, but no one's like, 'oh my god, can i get an autograph'")

Jen's mom is an arcanist

Bank's heart "canonically isn't pounding" in the missions because "she's used to life and death situations"

Banks "cares about who lives and dies"

Tom mentions that Banks doesn't have as good of a relationship with the rest of the team, and that her and Jen's relationship is "hot and cold" (LMAO)

Darrell's hiding spots were all basically John Roberts' idea (the game's sole artist)

The world of Tactical Breach Wizards (as in, the geography and literal placement of countries) intentionally does not look like the real world. "The DSR resembles the UK and America in some ways", but isn't really a 1 to 1 so "they don't map to real clichés and dynamics of the world".

The last one is my interpetation of the inspector as a child because I happened to re-play that one day where that one entrant says she worked with your dad and claims you were a little brat and it got me thinking. I like to think he was some scrawny nerd that was a lot more sensitive than some of the other boys but because being sensitive as a boy isn't allowed in the mid 1900s especially in some small village he kinda put on a rougher exterior and picked fights with kids half his size as an attempt to prove something.

when my mom had cancer she was like “listen I’ve been doing some research. I want to start taking turmeric capsules” and my reaction was “should we buy you some healing crystals too lol” but then I did my own googling and found some genuinely promising research and went well hell there might be something to this

then I brought it up with her neuro oncologist who was like “ive never heard that but I’ll look into it, she’s doing great all things considered so you guys must be doing something right”

anyway I just saw an abstract of a journal article about how curcumin (the active compound in turmeric that seems to help slow cancer cell growth) is now being recommended to some cancer patients and it cited that neuro oncologist as one of the authors. like god damn my mom has been dead for nearly 2 full years and she’s still Right About Shit

The first PIN Gi-hun enters for his mom's bank card is 0426. When it declines he says "It should be my birthday" implying that his birthday is what he already tried... but later in the season we see October 31 is his birthday.

Someone on Reddit pointed out that June 8 2010 would be 04/26- 26th day of the fourth month- in the lunar calendar... however according to Gi-hun's player profile, his daughter was born in 2011, not 2010. The player profile also lists her birthday as June 9, though, so it is potentially inaccurate. (It does confirm his birthday as October 31.)

But then also:

He's typing in the PIN at like exactly 4 minutes and 26 seconds into the episode.

I don't really think this is important to the story but I do find it neat and I think 0426 or 4/26 must have some special significance to Hwang Dong-hyuk, like a friend's birthday or an anniversary or something. Which, if true, is super cute of him to work it into the show.

Also yeah, I was. Sadly. In marching band in 9th grade. (First year of high school here, I was like... 14/15.) And it was a miserable, terrible experience because our band director was a huge cunt. Kill yourself David!!!

But I played clarinet. :) I was decent at concert band! I was in that from 6th-8th grade. I actually loved it. But marching was just... grueling as fuck. Three hours a day of practice in 90F weather with a dick of a director... It was just awful. If I could go back in time I would tell Baby Me not to do that shit. And I also would run David <redacted last name> over with a school bus. :) Twice. :)
