I don’t know if it’s because I specifically love cruel, abusive (and especially sexually abusive) characters, or if it’s because I’ve read his sections of Abe no Seimei Monogatari, but I often feel like my thoughts on (fate) Douman are at odds with most of his other fans, to the point I can’t really interact with them about him, and gotta mute a lot of them (which I am finally starting to do)
Especially when it comes to Fujimaru, I honestly do not think he holds any genuine love nor desire to help them (unless it benefits himself in some way), even his historical counterpart was someone merely seeking fame, which Seimei calls him out on. And we already have concrete proof of a lack of love of humanity. They remind him of Seimei, so of course he wants to stay close, and is obsessed with them, but out of a desire to hurt, not help, it’s not all that different than his obsession with Danzou (who also has connections to Seimei), it’s just with her, she was much easier to take advantage of.
People seem to underestimate Seimei’s importance too? From the start he’s described as violent and arrogant, but it’s his envy of Seimei that made him into such a monsterous person. Thats the whole thing he’s known for, his obsession with surpassing Seimei, you can’t talk about his character without bringing him up… in Abe no Seimei Monogatari, he’s described as delighting in achieving his desires only after carrying out his plan to steal Seimei’s secrets and kill him. As a Servant, he is only the evils of such a man, and yes they don’t come from nowhere, but he’s not particularly tragic or anything, he’s incredibly petty. I enjoy that about him, someone so genuinely monstrous and out of a very human emotion that spiraled out of control to the point he’s taking it out on everyone else and delighting in mocking them. (I also just hate when such a delightfully evil character is softened, he has more depth than it initially seems, but that doesn’t mean a genuine desire to help people)

I’ve just joined the yohaji / terrified teacher at ghoul school fandom and I’m obsessed w the manga and anime!! I’m not sure if anything I’m gna say r spoilers, but js be warned!
As someone who’s also in the wtdsik fandom, I have to say that the two remind me of each other. The mc are both humans with sort of a destiny that would surpass the youkais/demons they’ve befriended at a school.
What I love abt both is how connected and deliberate things are. How Haruaki had encountered and affected so many in the past gives the same feeling to me like w the Demon King prophecy that Iruma aligns w.
Both series even had principals who couldn’t help but be reminded of someone they knew from the past sometimes when they saw the mc! Haruaki because he looks practically the same as Abe No Seimei, and Iruma because of his actions and gestures (like in his wicked phase).
Also as a side note; Sano reminds me almost of Asmodeus. They both started off detesting the mc and was stone-faced, but became an absolute cinnamon roll who could still kill you! Sano holds a sense of loyalty to Haruaki, but instead of servitude like Azz, it’s purely instead bcs of a mutual trust (it’s kind of like a father-son relationship imo)!
Anyways, I’m obsessed w yohaji now and I can’t wait for the next update next month! I’m excited to follow the manga and hope more episodes keep coming in the anime!
(And to the wtdsik fandom, I can’t wait for s4 now that the announcement was made! And mephisto is my fav adult now since the Scala test arc!)

Yohaji Theories and Thoughts
If children of a human x youkai/youkai x youkai pairing lead to the child being either/or the species of a youkai (seen with Izuna/Ibara's children and Renren), then Abe no Seimei might be a similar case as in, human x youkai or kami which would explain him being human but also him having "Divine Magic" (ch 102) and apparently not aging normally (as seen in that extra comic where Douman questions that) since kitsune are connected to Inari and were even worshipped as gods themselves to an extent.
In IRL legend, Abe no Seimei's mother was a kitsune (Kuzonoha) and apparently kitsunes have been described to have white fur, which makes me think about how Mama-aki has white hair like isn't it interesing that Tanamai-sensei wanted her hair to be white specifically even though neither Haru or Ame inherited it???
The gods relationships with youkai and humans respectively. The common belief seems to be that gods look down on youkai and humans as they see humans as beings they have to protect/guide while youkai are kinda outside of their realm of care. As a result, I would imagine the existence of Abe no Seimei being a controversy of sorts.
If Abe no Seimei's mother was a god, she would have been punished (since gods having romantic relations or killing humans are big no-nos (as seen with Ranmaru)) which would be so spicy for drama LOL
This could also tie into Abe no Seimei's death and also why the Principal seems keen on keeping a certain youkai type (*cough* Kitsune *cough*) away from the academy (or maybe this certain type of youkai doesn't want to appear there but I feel like it's the former)
And if the gods wanted to deal/make use of Abe no Seimei's powers, they wouldn't have been allowed to because he was human, and I would imagine that he made use of that when his death came around
It does make me wonder about the circumstances around blatant reincarnation in Yohaji because we only have the case with Haruaki. Is reincarnation common in this universe or there needs to be a specific thing to be done to be able to do so?

sorry i'm having intense wyrmclan leader brainrot again. i was thinking about this chart i made and i really..... mourn the interactions we missed between certain leaders...
Tumblr media
would've LOVED to see yukimura and yoshitsune interact, i feel like they paired yuki with shingen as a sort of "old meets new" but yoshitsune pushes that dynamic even further ?! at the same time yoshitsune is so... youthful that i feel like she would match yuki's energy really well... this goes for nobunaga as well 🥹 i like how energetic and spirited the wyrmclan girls tend to be then you have mitsuhide who's at the polar opposite end of the spectrum
also no surprise that i really wanted to see seimei and ieyasu interact directly (they're. in the same room in a couple of stories but don't address each other) because it's just really fascinating to me how opposites they are... i don't think seimei would treat ieyasu very differently from how he treated euden but maybe he has more respect for him since ieyasu hasn't yknow fucked up badly at something yet...
seimei and yuki has really nice potential too like yuki does mention seimei in her story but since hers is about learning from the other leaders i would've loved to see seimei in a reluctant mentor role... i guess it feels too similar to his dynamic with kuzunoha?
i also just find it really fascinating how you can. very clearly draw a line between the leaders introduced in the first two events and the latter two because ieyasu, mitsuhide and nobunaga all seem to have had somewhat cushy lives and had no major incidents regarding their ascension to their leader roles meanwhile seimei accidentally gets his entire organization killed and almost offs himself trying to fix things, yoshitsune is betrayed by her brother and almost dies until she gets TURNED IMMORTAL against her will, shingen staged a coup against his father (and brother?) and yukimura's mere existence caused conflict between two clans and also grew up forcibly locked up by her own family. like the tonal shift between a clawful caper (mitsuhide event) and cursed connections (seimei event) is still so insane to me??
but i think that's why some relationships like shingen and yoshitsune, seimei and yukimura are so interesting to think about for me because they have somewhat similar situations but ended up as very different people... shingen and yoshitsune in particular are really nice to think about because they were both caught up in an inheritance struggle but while shingen was someone who fought for his title because he believed his father (and by extension brother?) to be unworthy of it, yoshitsune only takes the title as a means to an end once her brother's bloodline ends...
i also just like the idea of seimei viewing ieyasu as this kind of idealized wyrmclan leader who is doomed to fail. like it's definitely projection on his part but ieyasu doesn't seem like he's ever been in any real danger or struggles and seimei is simultaneously envious and condescending about it... but that's also why i find it so interesting that they both have no ambitions to become shogun but it feels like for ieyasu that's because he has a bigger dream but for seimei it's because he's content where he is now...
AUGH sorry i'm insane. i'm insane about the wyrmclan leaders but i'll shut up. for now

A Terrified Teacher At Ghoul School Episode 9 Review - Villainous Doofuses
What’s this? Is this the first instance of an actual villain squad in this story? A rule of advice: whether a character is human, a youkai, protagonist or antagonist, everyone in this story have a lot of doofus energy inside of them. That’s how Mai Tanaka creates them. Don’t take these crows seriously because you’re not supposed to.
Tumblr media
This entire episode is actually only two chapters in the manga. Isn’t that crazy? This is a mini-arc showcasing how there are villainous youkai even amongst the good ones on Hyakki Island. In the manga, this mini-arc actually takes place right after the Momoyama chapter where she got sprayed with the perfume and caused a majority of the male youkais to fall for her. The anime actually does a good job changing only the beginning aspect of this plot with Hatanaka sighing about the class he has to teach and then being taken by the villains. In the manga, Hatanaka laments over the fact that the perfume caused him to fall for someone who wasn’t his wife and then the villain calls out his name and that was how he was taken. Other than that, everything else about this plot is the same as it was in the manga with the animal youkai being kidnapped and Hatanaka, Tamao and Mame being one of the many abducted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The story mainly focused on Haruaki, Sano and Miki trying to find and rescue their abducted students and colleague. I did like that each of them did get their fair share of screen time. The secretary, Tenmaru, plays illusions on them that preys on their biggest weaknesses. For Miki, he’s afraid of women due to having five older sisters. In the beginning of the episode, Haruaki learns that Miki has never been in a relationship despite looking like a playboy. Hm…being afraid of women and never been in a relationship before? I always had this inkling of a feeling that Miki could be gay, but his sexuality is never confirmed. For Sano, his biggest weakness happens to be Haruaki, which was hilarious because the multiplying amounts of Haruakis caused him to pass out. I’m assuming he’s afraid of Haruaki but also finds him the biggest annoyance in his life. For Haruaki, he’s afraid of middle school delinquents. I mean, it was to be expected as the first episode established that he quit his first teaching job the moment a delinquent student snapped at him in just thirty minutes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, let’s talk about the villains, the Karasu Tengu Troupe! They’re a quirky bunch that sort of reminds me of the Team Rocket trio from Pokemon. The captain, Ranmaru, is the biggest stand out with his loud ham tendencies and being the biggest doofus of the three. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding him, however, like with his connection to the Principal and the actual Abe no Seimei from long ago. This means that this guy is old as heck. However, he actually doesn’t do all that much in this episode aside from being all touchy-feely with Haruaki as he mistook him for Seimei. Though, he did contribute to the lore buildup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be honest, Bonmaru, the one with the long brown hair, was actually the biggest threat with how he could summon a plethora of human-faced rocks and being the biggest hurdle in the rescue attempt. He knocked out Miki and was about to win against Sano had not he used his magic. Though, he did knock out Haruaki, the Principal, and his comrades due to Sano, so he got the biggest hit count in this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tenmaru, the secretary, was the second biggest threat with his illusion magic, but falls short of being threatening due to him being with Ranmaru when he was trying to persuade Haruaki to join him. Though, Tenmaru might be seen more often as it’s revealed that he’s also a student of Hyakki Academy, hence why he knew who Haruaki was. The part with him stealing Haruaki’s wallet at the end was hilarious because it was a useless effort as he only had 80 yen inside (which is like 0.53 cents in USD).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other details about this episode I liked was the characters interacting with the three Mandoragas, the Principal kicking Haruaki away and the wholesome moments with Mame and Sano. I also liked the part where Tamao told Hatanaka and Mame about his dream to be Nyuudou’s pet cat when he gets married. That’s some weird aspirations you got there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you know that Ranmaru’s voice actor wasn’t revealed before airing, but it was revealed yesterday? His voice actor is Showtaro Morikubo, a big-name voice actor. If you’re not familiar with him, he voiced Shikamaru Nara from Naruto/Boruto, Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4 and Yusuke Makishima from Yowamushi Pedal. I did find it weird that Bonmaru and Tenmaru’s voice actors weren’t revealed alongside his, but I guess it makes sense given that Ranmaru is the most important, but it’s also that Bon and Ten’s voice actors aren’t super well-known. Bonmaru’s voice actor is Wataru Kato, who voiced the MC of 100 Girlfriends. Tenmaru’s voice actor is Noriaki Kanze, who also voices the Human-Faced Fish that appears occasionally since Episode 2. To be honest, of the voices, Tenmaru sort of throws me off because he sounds a lot older than how I imagined it would sound like. It’s not a bad voice, but I’ll definitely have to get used to it.
Tumblr media
I applaud the author’s capability of writing a serious plot like animal youkai abductions and still add in comedy into it. I admire those kind of writing skills. If you have watched this episode, what are your thoughts on it?

Is malignant information in Fate like a Douman-exclusive thing? How does it work separated from him, if it does at all?
Malignant information is not a properly defined term yet despite how old it is and how much presence it had in the original Melty Blood. Nasu tends to mention it with the attached explanation "information entirely harmful to intelligent life", and more recently "what's inconvenient for humans to have while trying to perform good deeds". Really vague stuff, so we gotta look for patterns in our case examples.
The first place to look at is the character the concept was created for. Night of Wallachia. Dead Apostle Zepia, and consequently his successor Dead Apostle Sion. Night of Wallachia's gimmick is that Zepia is no longer corporeal but still exists as a curse that manifests in communities plagued by rumors and ingests the community's blood by giving physical form to their malignant information. The thing about his Tatari forms is that they never overlap with real people. They're either characters who are already dead (Nrvnqsr, Satsuki, the original Zepia Eltnam Oberon) or alternate possibilities of the living characters (Nanaya, Red Arcueid). Falsehood is the keyword with Tatari/Night of Wallachia and malignant information is his keyword for falsehood.
Next, CCC is what gives the most elaborate description of what is malignant information because Nasu loves overexplaining BB's powerset instead of properly showing it. The Mooncell is a recording computer, so its positive operation is about recording the truths of the physical world. The products of curses, lies repeated for personal profit, and rumors without substance are categorized as malignant information and dumped on the unobservable wastehole that is the Far Side of the Moon. There's one particular line that didn't really mean anything back when CCC came out but means a lot now that we know how pruning and Lostbelts work. "The Near Side of the Moon records the correct history of human society, while the Far Side records the horridly offending histories that were discarded." Basically, the BB channels are made with pruned timeline data, apparently.
FGO has a couple scattered mentions of malignant information in Kiara's and BB's NP descriptions, but they're mostly concentrated in Id and its buildup. See this post for the relationship between wasteholes and malignant information. This vengefulness angle is the one usage I struggle to associate with the previous usage of malignant information. Id also finally uses malignant information to refer to Salieri's rumor amalgamation monster status, so that's neat with the Melty original.
But do you know what FGO usage case does tie in with the concepts of falsehood and pruning? That's right, Douman. The mechanism of Douman's immortality is converting himself entirely into malignant information and then copying and multiplying his data body as shikigamis. Heian shows off the differences between the flesh-and-blood Douman and his malignant information copy. Limbo is remarkably dramatic (just like Zepia fr fr) and openly affected by his rivalry with Seimei in a way that reflects the rumors about him better than the reality we're shown in the Singularity. It's a neat mirror of the relationship between Toono Shiki and the OG Melty's Nanaya Shiki, the most iconic malignant information construct. And Douman being CHALDEAS's choice of Servant to explore lost histories like Shimousa in preparation for the Lostbelt makes more sense with the idea that they tie to malignant information information as one of his main magecraft expertises.

💮 onmyōji (2023) review 💮
it took me longer than expected to finish this highly-anticipated adaptation, but boy am i glad i completed it!
first up, i just wanna say i have only read a few chapters of the stories by yumemakura baku, and and only seen snippets of the 2001 movie. i've not seen the sequel, nor the chinese adaptations (and certainly not played the games). that said, i am very familiar with onmyodo and its place and significance in japanese history and culture, since there are overlaps between it and taoism, buddhism, and east asian divination in general.
with that in mind, i was pleasantly surprised at how the anime eased viewers into the philosophies behind onmyodo, particularly with the concept of curses, the birth of demons, and rituals; everything was explained very clearly, with hiromasa as a stand-in for the audience, although i did wish that the show dwelled more on the supernatural aspects during the first few episodic arcs.
likewise, i enjoyed the relationship between seimei and hiromasa; and here is where the stans could fill me in, because i was very certain that the 2001 movies weren't as fruity as the anime. but still, the message was received, and i was very pleased with how their relationship was depicted – hiromasa being soft and very attuned with his emotions was a very heian gentlemanly trait to have, so it didn't feel out of place at all.
personally, i think the final arc could have explored more of hiromasa's death on seimei, but i think that short scene (barely a few seconds!) of seimei cradling hiromasa's sword was molto bene.
in terms of animation, i found it satisfactory; clearly a higher budget would have done the special effects more justice, but given that the onmyoji were more priests and academicians than jujutsu kaisen sorcerers, the relatively modest show of their abilities made sense. i will say, there were key frames in episode 4, especially with certain profiles and oblique angles, that looked rough.
the final three episode were beautifully animated though! and i adored the ending theme and animation!
also, this is just me being a mardy bum, but i think this would've worked better as a spring/summer anime than a fall/winter one, given the gorgeous floral motifs (although the cold seasons have always evoked intense fujo feels inside of me haha).
in all, as with ooku: the inner chambers, which aired a few months ago, i will not be object to a second season of this show – namikawa daisuke and asanuma shintaro did splendidly as seimei and hiromasa, and i would certainly love to see the other stories animated!

If this blog's user is still active... thoughts on the conciet of heroic-aligned magician figures whomst are effectively borne of demons, animals, or monsters? Merlin's father being an incubus in some tellings, the legends that Abe no Seimei's mother was a fox-wife, etc. What is the relationship between wise-men, shamans, wizards, etc and monsters?
Hi!
This is interesting, because it depends heavily on your working definition of monstrosity, and it's also incredibly intersectional in terms of research areas. Though quite luckily, my supervisor actually specialises in medievalism and fantasy, so we've discussed some of this sort of thing.
Personally, in my work, my definition of monstrosity always requires the presence of the supernatural. But equally so, a core tenant of monster theory is the dynamic of the norm/the other. That's what the monster is: the embodiment of that which a society has deemed 'other', wrong, outcast.
A concept I've been writing on for the past few months in my thesis relates to the perception of monstrosity; is a monster only a monster because we perceive it to be one? That's a very long conversation, but the perception of monstrosity is key. So in a sense, it depends on both the author intention and the audience understanding of a particular character in a work.
There's a thin line between characters who may have supernatural abilities or origins and monsters; and that comes down to whether or not they are presented to the audience as a monster.
A good example of this would be...Damien from The Omen vs Adam Young in Good Omens.
The narrative of The Omen presents Damien to us as a monster. He's devil spawn, he's the antichrist, he's a monster. We go into that with the preconceived notion of him as a monster, even before the character actually does anything 'evil'.
Adam Young in Good Omens is a direct parallel to Damien. He is, fundamentally, the same character. He's the antichrist, he's the spawn of Satan. But Adam isn't presented by the author and to the audience as a monster. Even though he is, objectively, the antichrist, literally the spawn of the devil.
All of this to say that in essence, with folkloric characters like Merlin especially, it depends on the individual depiction of the character. For instance, while some versions of Merlin depict him as being half-demon, others claim he was an immaculate conception ala Jesus Christ.
Personally, I think there's a fair few depictions of him as a character that someone could argue as being monstrous. In fact I would go so far as to say most; because despite his role as advisor to the king, his inherent 'supernatural' abilities position him as 'other' in his society. The same could probably be argued for a lot of those kinds of wizards, sages, magic users and so forth--because inherently their abilities place them external to the norm of their society.
I don't know if I actually answered your question but I hope it helped a little!

Is it true that Ibuki sleeps with women? Also if I'm not a bother can you please list out all of Ibuki's evil deeds. Thank you!
I'm at least sure that he's not a virgin. I feel like all demons are not virgin. Ibuki is not that guy who's hobby is to sleep with women or flirt with women. He can do it, but he's not really into those stuff. He's more into breaking people emotionally. His evil deeds are:
He has destroyed an entire town by instilling greed into everyone.
He caused chaos around the human world so much that people had to bring Abe no Seimei to stop him.
He abused Kurama when he was a child.
He tried to kill Yoshino (in Kurama's route)
In his route, he does a lot of sexual stuff with Yoshino for example, kiss her without permission, giving her aphrodisiac, then other stuff.....although Yoshino gave her consent, it's still hard to watch.
He had a toxic relationship with Yoshino, making her cry on purpose.
He tried to kill Yoshino, again in his own route by strangling her.
In this route, he purposefully gave a merchant guy a dybbuk to mentally torment him.
In a story event (Night Attendant), he caused two villages, who were on friendly terms, to go on war for fun. He then saw Yoshino, who was a pharmacist of one village, saving people. He immediately asked her to be his night attendant without her consent. He intimidates her and r*pes her until her heart breaks.
In the same story event, because of Ibuki's actions, the villagers doesn't take Yoshino back because they wanted Ibuki's power to win the war against the other village. This lead to Yoshino having nowhere to go. Ibuki also wanted to take everything from Yoshino so she relied on him and him only.
These are some of which we know. There must be more evil deeds that we don't know.

Raido Kuzunoha and Akira Kurusu!
send me the rarest pair you can think of and I'll tell you if I ship it and how I think it can work
(assuming you mean raidou rather than the AU raido because... i don't know how to characterize that guy asdhjfk) i actually did a version of this in a crosscanon rp once and it was a delight, so i can say i ship this one! :D
raidou and joker are really fascinating mirrors of each others as protagonists - they have a ton of really interesting commonalities, from aesthetics to plot beats to small characterization quirks (to raidou and seimei in the unfortunately poorly fan-translated manga i swear i will get back to redoing it someday basically being proto-shuake) and are simultaneously incredibly similar and totally different in where they come from. raidou is, even when chaos-aligned, still functionally serving as an instrument of peace and not a rebel fighting for social upheaval - but could joker's been a pawn in a game beyond his understanding himself, and could certainly have a lot of compassion for someone only a couple years older than him who knows and struggles with being raised to be a weapon. and with raidou defying the expectations for him to be an emotionless tool and using the strength of his bonds with the people he loves being such a core beat of the manga, i think joker's ability to form and draw on those bonds so easily would be really admirable to raidou. and he's even technically a detective to joker's phantom thief! he lives with a guy who's super passionate about coffee and curry! they have not-cats in common! i think they're neat and if the dsrk-typical timeline shenanigans allowed them to coexist in a story they could definitely develop a really interesting relationship.
also they're my two favorite megaten protags so the thought of them interacting just makes me happy

Nothing makes me want to get started on my whole writeup about Limbo like having to see dumbass opinions about him, people really want him to be an innocent monster (he’s not. He. He very much did behead Seimei out of envy after copying his texts he got from Hakudou. He did this by having an affair with his wife. Also Seimei was drunk at that time too. The very first page he appears on describes him as violent and arrogant. This is a story from 1662…. He does not have the innocent monster skill and Shikibu also calls the living Douman monstrous… if anything, Salieri, an actual innocent monster was warped into being more like Douman, even though he did not have the sort of envious enough to kill relationship with Mozart like Douman did with Seimei in the least)
I’m almost at the end of the Douman chapters of Abe no Seimei Monogatari (1662) I should probably summarize them cause they give a lot of context for why he’s Like That

Fox Sorcery Series Discussion
Note: This series contains homosexuality so don't like don't read.
I going to continue my discussion with the Fox Sorcery Series. As I said before, Seimei is telling Andre about the events that occurred during his lifetime in 10th Century Japan.
The citizens in Heian-Kyo hated Seimei because he was a fox hanyo (half-fox yokai), but they depended on him for exorcism. They do lust after Seimei though as chapter three of the 3rd book in the series, "Eternal Fox Sorcerer" said that Seimei wore a mask because men and women were enchanted by his looks.
Emperor Kasan asked Seimei if he was interested in being in a relationship with him, but Seimei looked clueless when he asked him that because I think that he doesn't want to be the Emperor consort or concubine. Also, I am imaging if he agreed people would say that the son of a fox bewitched and seduced the emperor and I am kind of skeptical that the Emperor truly loved Seimei like Andre as he believed Doman when he said that Seimei cursed him.
Also, it is unknown if Andre is a direct descendant of Emperor Kason or not, but his mother is from the Minamoto Clan, which is a surname given to Japanese Imperial Family Members who are excluded from the line of succession.

◇Hey!
I know this may be a bit sudden, but i was bound to know this was going to come to an end sooner or later (woah, i sound a bit dramatic haha) Currently, i’ve decided that i’m going to quit this blog, in a way it’s more for my mental health and some emotional stuff. And honestly, thanks to the people from the Funger fandom who took an interest in my silly concepts, this is the first time i’ve done something like this (it makes me nervous)
I don’t know if i’ll be able to do something like this in a few years, but, i’ll avoid deleting the whole process i did, F&H 1946 has a special place in my heart.
For now i'll focus on other things that make me happy, i don't usually think about myself much, so i tend to focus more on others. But sooner or later it will end up affecting me.
I made a personal blog @creamitass
I might post a drawing, writing or some random in the future (and other things) in this personal blog.
I won't leave the F&H fandom. The Funger experience should never end, i guess.
◇As a side note, in the After Ending the two fools end up separating, so Pav never mentions Seimei again as if he didn't exist, let's admit that he feels guilty that Seimei lost his sight during the battle against Hasenaa. After years, for some reason Pav will get curious to go to Kingdom of Edo, even if he just says that he's going for the beautiful women or just wants everyone to stop pestering him around, what an expert in excuses.
Look, at some point it's true, but he also wants to see Seimei and doesn't accept it because he's a damn arrogant sssh.
In the end Pav and Seimei's relationship is merely interpretation.
After developing these two fools for a year, i think maybe they have something...
Or maybe platonic.
Or maybe they need more of their daily dose of horror and gore, i'm delirious.
But, both need therapy, Pav dissuade (flirting threat) the therapist while Seimei will complain that the sheets smell like vodka since Pav ended up sleeping in his room and turned up the television's volume again [AGAIN]
The main thing is the development of these guys in a claustrophobic environment full of bunkers with a gameplay based on the first Funger, i think it's enough to say that i hope all this was more to satisfy my curiosity for a character like Pav and his psychology; somehow, i could implement someone like Seimei, as well as the fact that in several events one of them will end up being the antagonist, and an ancient god like Hasenaa would be the same as the "surprise saucer", in the end, the conflicts between human characters and poor communication can lead to terrible results. If there is something hopeful, this bastard also needs someone to interact and get him out of his "Hurry up, we don't have time!", so Seimei must somehow give him a break, no matter how stubborn he is, sometimes it is necessary to take a break in that frantic course of decisions, of going from one side to another and ignoring what sooner or later will take this man downhill.

For the ask thing, 20 with Seimei? Or any Dragalia character, I just want to hear your thoughts :)
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
omg i think you actually managed to pick the most difficult question for me to answer for seimei 😭 but i do have a lot of thoughts anyway so i will share them
the short answer is shingen because i think that he's basically the only character seimei interacts with where he's not being actively irritated... (it's saying a lot for seimei) and i think it does a lot for both seimei and shingen's characters so i like them
like the thing about seimei is that a lot of the characters that surround him are basically his subordinates (anyone affiliated with the ox wyrmclan) and they all treat seimei with both respect and concern...? except i feel like seimei's immediate reaction to both of those is to reject it because i like to think he has both feelings of inadequacy as a wyrmclan leader (due to inheriting the title prematurely after indirectly causing his grandfather's death) but simultaneously confidence in his abilities... i feel like this is what informs a lot of his irritation at the way characters interact with him and while i'm not at all saying that he doesn't care for the other ox wyrmclan characters i do think they're very far from something i'd call a friendship
the other characters he interacts with are, of course, the other wyrmclan leaders and a few of them kinda actively try to bother him like mitsuhide and yoshitsune (the latter more affectionately and well-intentioned than the former) hotheaded characters like nobunaga and yukimura don't mesh with him at all on a very basic level and ieyasu is 🧍 well i don't think i need to get into what i think of seimei and ieyasu's relationship here but i do think their values differ fundamentally enough that i don't necessarily think they'd be friends...
shingen is like, canonically supposed to be beloved by his subordinates and fellow wyrmclan leaders and while i'm sad we didn't get to see him interacting with his retainers or such i do think his adventurer story did a really nice job of showing why exactly the other wyrmclan leaders like him and especially with seimei it feels significant that he's that type of character... i feel like when he and seimei interact you can really feel that they respect one another and that seimei is a lot more willing to hear shingen out which i thought was really nice...
that being said i do want to give a shoutout(?) to seimei and rikugo's relationship because it really feels to me that seimei truly cares for him... i like to think that rikugo's personality is at least partially influenced by seimei's grandfather because he's made up of the mana from everyone in the onmyoji bureau so i think that's also why seimei treats him more fondly... but i see their relationship as something closer to familial so they don't count for this question (lol
i also just didn't consider characters he doesn't interact with in canon because he doesn't seem like the type of person to branch out his social circle... the wyrmclan leaders he's just acquainted with against his will so they're an exception lmao
anyway since i want to ramble a bit more i'll quickly go through the other wyrmclan leaders too:
ieyasu: i think he really needs someone who is able to push back against him so it makes sense that someone like botan is his friend character and i think it works
mitsuhide/nobunaga: each other for obvious canonical reasons but they're honestly both a little unbearable (i say this with nothing but love) and i think the push and pull between mitsuhide using nobunaga for her own whims and nobunaga being the only one forceful enough to make mitsuhide do things is just a nice dynamic
yoshitsune/shingen: i really like the idea of her friendship with shingen... they both went through similar experiences of having to fight over their leadership with their brothers and they're also the oldest two wyrmclan leaders... i feel like they'd be the type of friends who have a deep understanding of each other despite not sharing too much of their own pasts/feelings
yukimura: yuki is... such a social butterfly i feel like she'd do really well in the halidom like given one of her idle lines i can see her getting along with celliera over training... really just anyone who isn't going to outright treat her like an idiot (again i say this with love) and can keep up with her energy is fair game imo
but thank you so much for the ask i love thinking about the wyrmclan leaders i will gush anytime <3

There is a little party going on among the elite fox spirits in Jing Manor's hall of leisure.
The elite however make their own government and council and rule over the fox spirit body. Meng Shi taihou is a goddess who's like the Guanyin of hulijings, Tamamo no mae is the goddess of Kitsunes. Both goddesses help their devotees. There's the emperor Guangyao, who governs his people, and is ordained by the goddess. He cares for the wellbeing of the fox race, fox realms and the Jianghu. Also he's a fox God in his own right.
Rusong Dianxia follows in his dad's footsteps, but for now he's the lord protector of fox spirits. Ordained by the emperor.
Su Daji Wanghou of Zhou is the minister of democracy and justice.
Kohaku is the preceptor and holder of secret books.
He, as Seimei's loyal companion, represents him, and he's allowed to have the most rare books on magic, cultivation, fox spirits and youkai.
Hana ( Kaisei kachou) is the painting fox goddess. She's the minister of arts. She can also generate life from her painting or trap unruly fox spirits on a silk screen.
Mio ( Běnzhēn Sānwěihú), is the minister of defence and Kitsune technology, as well as the Kitsune goddess of fire. And lastly Hua cheng was appointed ambassador of fox spirits. He's supposed to mend relationships between the three types of fox spirits and promote culture.
They're all patriots in art, culture and wellbeing. Creation, preservation AMF destruction as well.
~~~
Meng shi: you make the most beautiful paintings.
Hana: aw you do too, meimei.
Meng Shi: ah, not as brilliant as yours.
Hana: may I paint you one of these days?
Meng Shi: I will be honoured.
Hana: great.
Tamamo no mae: don't forget Shishi's adorable dimples, ok?
Hana: haha, how can I. That's her signature mark.  *kisses her dimple*
Mio: so, Hana what's new! Meng taihou, what's new with Yao Huangdi. I heard that he has a daughter now.
Hana: I'm absolutely fine, Mio jiejie. Shishi was about to ask me to paint a herb that she would describe for me.
Mio: ohh!
Meng Shi; Huangdi is fine, thanks for asking.
Yao: yes, thank you. I'm going great. You want to see my daughter, Taihua?
Mio: we all do, Huangdi. You make the most beautiful children. I hope she becomes as powerful as Rusong Dianxia.
Yao: don't flatter me.
I promise that A-Hua will be as equally powerful as her brothers.
Mio: so sweet.
Su Daji: I love how you don't show favoritism.
Yao: yes. It's not allowed in my family. I was once a victim  of favoritism.
Tamamo no mae: sometimes I don't understand that lanling demon. How can he hate such a beautiful and brilliant emperor. And that too, his son.
Meng Shi: that's why he's the lanling demon, dear.
Kohaku: I'm so happy that Huangdi and the Mengs rose to glory.
Yao Huangdi, may I get the honour of taking a stroll with you and Taizi?
Yao: that would be lovely.
Rusong: I would love to have a conversation with you.
Kohaku: you two are so kind.
Su Daji: congratulations on becoming the Qin sect leader, Rusong Taizi.
Rusong: thank you, Wanghou.
Mio: Huangdi and his amazing son.
Tamamo no mae: Rusong Taizi is a lot like him.
Hana: definitely.
Taihou, what herb you want me to draw?
Meng Shi: it will be a pink flower with seven petals, and heart shaped leaves.
At the center of the flower, there will be an orange seed. Once that seed is boiled and a fox spirit without a tail drinks it, they can grow back their tail.
That flower will be known as Hu-qi-Hua
Hana: got it.
Yao: what an excellent idea. This herb will be available to everyone. A hulijing's tail is their protection.
Qin su: *enters holding Taihua*
Greetings elite fox spirits. *bow*
Taihua: greetings elite fox spirits.
Everyone: awwwwww.
Hana: aw, so this is Shishi's cute daughter-in-law.
Qin Su: *smiles* yes. And I brought Hua.
Hana: Hua!
Mio: she's the most adorable little thing.
Taihua: *looking at Ayao* A-Die.
Tamamo no mae: *laughing*
Yao: baby. Look who's here.
Su Daji: she can't remember us from her one month
Yao: exactly. *kisses* Hua. These are like your aunties. They gave you gifts for your one month.
Taihua: waw. They're pretty.
Tamamo no mae: aww.
Hana: little baby!
Mio: *kisses* you're too adorable.
Hana: she resembles Shishi and Yao Huangdi. But has Huanghou's nose, hands and hair.
Kohaku: I'm so so happy to see Gongzhu, Huangdi. Forgive me for not attending to the one month. I was busy with work.
Yao: that's alright.
Su Daji: I feel like we should play some music for Taihua Gongzhu.
We did the same with Taizi when he was that age.
Tamamo no mae: they're too beautiful. Obviously we will serenade them.
Qin Su: *sits* A-Hua, are you excited?
Taihua: *clapping* yes I am!!!
Su Daji: Gongzhu has to get used to this treatment. She as well as her family are very superior.
*makes a pipa appear, then starts playing it*
Tamamo no mae: *plays the guqin*
Hana: *plays the flute*
Mio: *plays the erhu*
Taihua: A-niang, I love them!
They're talented like Nainai.
Qin Su: I know you would. And they think you're really adorable.
Taihua: *blushing*
Kohaku: Huangdi, Taizi. Shall we?
Yao: certainly.
A-niang, excuse us.
Meng Shi: sure.
Afterwards, Yao Huangdi, Rusong and Kohaku held a conversation while taking a stroll.
Kohaku: congrats, Taizi Dianxia. You'll be such an amazing sect leader.
You already govern Yunping.
Rusong: thank you so much.
Kohaku: I admire you and Huangdi a lot, and would love to assist you some more.
Huangdi, please tell me what you have done lately.
Yao: I ordered my 108 monks to set arrays in 50 districts across the Jianghu. Fox spirits will be the most powerful there, and they'll be able to teleport.
Kohaku: marvelous!
Yao: I drew a map of where the 50 arrays will be.
Rusong will introduce it the public.
Rusong: certainly, A-Die.
Kohaku: I look forward to that. Huangdi, how's the harem? Are they strengthening your empire?
Yao: fortunately they are. And the chief cultivator is so headstrong and talented. He makes sure that the clan leaders are doing their jobs.
Kohaku: Su Minshan, right? Heard a lot about him.
Yao: yes yes. He's absolutely magnificent. And along with team dimple.
Rusong, tell him about your project.
Rusong: *opens fan* well, I'm opening a veteran centre, in Laoling.
It's for the hulijings who were wrongfully injured, or were injured from fighting for the protection of the empire. Also who escaped from merciless treatment.
Yao: exquisite.
Kohaku: such a generous, down to earth and elegant prince.
I would like to be his assistant.
Rusong: oh really? If it's ok with Senior Seimei.
Kohaku: of course it would be.
He's My idol and master, and he's good with Huangdi.
Rusong: amazing then. You can be my assistant and master of my library.
Kohaku: sure, Dianxia.
Yao: lovely pair! I just know that everyone would be impressed by my Rusong.
Kohaku: because he's a carbon copy of you, with his own rich personality.
I want to be his assistant.
Yao: so be it.
Furthermore, they met the rest, who were done serenading Taihua. Taihua however fell asleep in Qin Su's arms, due to the soothing music.
Qin Su: Taihou, Elite. Huahua has fallen asleep.
Mio: so adorable.
Qin Su: I'll take your leave. I got to take her to bed, and stay with her.
Meng Shi: sure, baby. Go take Taihua to bed.
Hana: Shishi, I love your daughter-in-law. She's so ideal and beautiful.
Meng Shi: perfect for A-Yao, right?
Speaking of A-Yao, here he is.
Yao: A-niang , I'm back.
Where are A-su and Hua?
Meng shi: Hua fell asleep, so she took her to bed.
Yao: ah. She enjoyed the music then. As expected.
The elite is an exceptionally talented group, and Hua inherited her parents tastes.
A-niang, Tamamo yima. Kohaku Gongzi wants to be Rusong's assistant.
Tamamo no mae: that's amazing
Meng Shi: that's great news!
Tamamo no mae: he would be perfect.
Rusong: tomorrow I'll show you around Pine Pavilion, and give you my ceal and some other apparatus.
Kohaku: thank you, Dianxia. I'm honoured to serve you.
Rusong: what do you want to do exactly?
Kohaku: I want to be your servant and assistant. And I'm good at martial arts. Just order me, and I'll fulfill your commands.
Rusong: remarkable. You're very
Hua cheng: *enters* I'm so so sorry, Huangdi. I'm airways late to things.
Greetings everyone.
Yao: it's fine. *hugs elegantly* how are you?
Hua cheng: doing good.
I was in Dongying for a while, actually.
Yao: ohh, that's good to hear.
Have a seat. Wine or tea? *claps for a servant to come to his side*
Hua cheng: the best wine.
Yao: sure. *looks at his servant*
Tamamo: *thugs Meng Shi's sleeve* Meng Shiiiii.
Mio: why are you hiding him?
Meng Shi: who?
Hana: you know who. Shishi, we want to see him.
Su daji: we all know where Yao Huangdi got it from indeed. I'm so happy.
Meng Shi: oh goodness. You want to see Ruoruo.
Su Daji: wrapped around your finger, huh?
And he was such a tyrant I heard. He took over the Jianghu.
Meng Shi: oh yes, he is wrapped around my finger.
He's head over heels for me. And, he worships the floor I walk on.
Su Daji: marvelous. I love these stories.
Tamamo no mae: Shishi you're amazing!
Mio: her and her dimple.
Mio: you deserve the best!
And you turned a former war criminal into a little puppy.
Meng Shi: *laughing daintily* he did that for himself. It's not me.
Sisi, can you call Ruoruo.
Sisi: ok jiejie.
Su Daji: can we flirt with him?
Meng Shi: omg. Go ahead. You guys are fox spirits, and that's your nature.
But Ruoruo only obeys me.
Mio: ahaha we know, we know meimei.
Hana: we're going to roast and tease him
Su Daji: like how team d flirts with Nie gui fei.
Yao: *laughing* exactly.
Mio: you Mengs are something else.
Mio: it's those dimples
Sisi: I would love to present Wen gui fei.
Wen Ruohan: hello ladies. I'm Wen Ruohan.
Sisi: you're Wen gui fei.
Meng Shi: *giggles*
Wen Ruohan: *kisses Meng Shi's hand* my muse.
I see you have guests.
Meng shi: yes. They're the elite fox spirits.
We all control the fox race.
This is Hana, the painting goddess, Mio, Kitsune goddess of fire, Su Daji Wanghou, who controls democracy and justice, Kohaku, the preceptor and new servant of Rusong, Tamamo no mae, the Kitsune goddess, and Hua cheng, the imperial ambassador.
Yao'er, Song'er and I are a part of it too.
Greet them.
Wen Ruohan: of course.  Pleasure to meet you, Su Daji Wanghou. *kisses hand*
Su Daji: you're such a softie. Telling from that kiss.
Wen Ruohan: I don't mistreat women.
Su Daji: but what about hulijing women?
Wen Ruohan: same.
Su daji: ok then.
Am I beautiful?
Wen Ruohan: yes, very beautiful. But not as beautiful as Meng Shi.
Su Daji: too bad.
Are you a king?
Wen Ruohan: not really. I want to establish a ghost kingdom though.
Su Daji: then you're not my type.
Wen Ruohan: *kisses Tamamo no Mae's hand*
Tamamo no mae: Daji has royal tastes. Sorry. And they have to rule over mortals.
Ruoruo, right? You didn't bring us any gifts?
Shishi, do you think that's right?
Meng Shi: not at all. But next time maybe.
Wen Ruohan: my apologies, Tamamao.
You all are so beautiful.
Tamamo no mae: thank you, Wen gui fei.
Care to give me another hand kiss?
Wen Ruohan: ah, of course. One for you and one for your beauty. But Meng Shi will forever be the winner.
Tamamo no mae: you're so handsome. And I wish that Shishi can share.
Su Daji: that would be so fun.
Mio: I know right! *stretches out hand*
I'm the goddess of fire. So you may say I'm hot.
Wen Ruohan: pleasure to meet you too, Definitely hot.
Mio: ahh.
Well you got that right.
You're hot too. Meng shi has superior tastes.
Our Meng shi loves power, because she herself is powerful.
Hana: I hope you're treating her well, or will beat you up.
*smilies innocently*
Pleasure to meet Wen gui fei.
Wen Ruohan: pleasure to meet you too.
Hana: if I had dimples, would I look like Meng shi?
Wen Ruohan: you would look more beautiful but, not like her.
Su Daji: Hana, I think he's afraid of Shishi.
Meng shi: of course he is. *smiles*
Wen Ruohan: *blushes*
Meng Shi: you're wrapped around my finger, right?
Wen Ruohan: oh yes I am. I'm absolutely intoxicated. And I love it.
Meng Shi: excellent. There's another guest. Go greet him.
He'll be working for Taizi.
Wen Ruohan: mn.
*walks over* pleasure to meet you, Kohaku Gongzi.
Kohaku: greetings Senior concubine Wen.
Wen Ruohan: so you have secret books?
Kohaku: yes. Only to protect fox spirits.
Knowledge should end up in the right hands, and be used for the right reasons.
I admire Rusong Taizi, so I decided to serve him.
Wen Ruohan: *clapping* wonderful! Is there anyone who doesn't admire Rusong.
He's my grandson! And Yao'er's dear son.
Kohaku: yes, Taizi is really remarkable.
Wen Ruohan: oh yes he is.
Hana: so Taizi is your grandson? Aww.
Mio: So head over heels for Shishi.
Wen Ruohan: mhm.
Meng Shi: do you like my guests?
Wen Ruohan: they're lovely. *kisses dimple*
Tamamo no mae: awww.
Mio: he's the cutest thing, giving Shishi kisses.
Mio: I know right.
Shishi deserves all the kisses actually.
Wen Ruohan: *caresses her cheek* my beloved A-Shi.
Hana: I'm soo happy for you and Wen gui fei.
Meng Shi: he's a darling.
Wen Ruohan: *kisses her neck*
Su Daji: Ruoruo, why aren't you shouting at us, or flirting back?
Wen Ruohan: I can't be inappropriate towards A-Shi's guests. Also if you weren't and I wasn't with A-Shi, I would already have you on your knees.
Mio: oh my goodness.
Hana: lol.
Wen Ruohan: *glares at Hua cheng* You!
Hua cheng: um...me?
Wen Ruohan: I have some beef with you.
Hua cheng: former Wen Zongzhu, we haven't met. Why do you have beef with me.
Wen Ruohan: we can't have two ghost kings, dude.
And I'm older than you.
Hua cheng: I'm 800+ years. *laughing*
Wen Ruohan: shit.
So you control the dead too.
Hua cheng: yup.
Plus I established ghost city.
Wen Ruohan: planning on expanding?
Hua cheng: not at all.
Wen Ruohan: I want a ghost city of my own. I will kick Sizhui out. Let him establish his "Wen sect" in Yiling
Yao: but there's a dilapidated house in Yiling. And Sizhui is a sect leader, as well as a concubine of A-ling. He must be in a proper place.
Wen Ruohan: well I'll fund the reconstruction.
Hua cheng: *chuckle* I didn't expect you to be impressed by me.
Wen Ruohan: no one plays with my ego, crimson rain.
What a scimitar you got there.
Hua cheng: yea. It's my E-ming.
Wen Ruohan: I had an amazing dagger once. But Yao'er has it.
Hua cheng: ah.
Yao: Wen Fu. What if I give you the Yueyang district.
That's another district that xue yang was in charge of, other than Shudong and Kuizhou.
Mo xuanyu is in charge of Yiling.
I have already gifted Sizhui Qishan. Sorry.
Wen Ruohan: it's ok, it's ok, Yao'er. And emperors don't apologize. Don't apologize to me.
Yao: sure. *smile*
Su Daji: how righteous of Wen Gui fei.
Hana: ahaha he has to listen to Shishi and her son.
Tamamo: Rusong Dianxia, Jingyi er Dianxia and Taihua Gongzhu too.
Mio: Wen gui fei is indeed a Meng now.
Wen Ruohan: Xuanyu is in charge of Yiling? That yiling laozu doesn't want it anymore?
Yao: nop, he's retired. He rather spend his life as a trophy husband.
Yiling is owned by xuanyu, and the forbidden burial mounds is supervised by him as well.
