Yo I saw your Bubblegum Crisis fanart a week ago and I thought they were really cool! (yes I know they are old but whatever)
I'm not sure if you still are a fan of the series but I've got a question:
Hypothetically speaking , if BGC was going to release today as say a remake/soft reboot- 12 episodes ideally what would you add or change? (Outside of some obvious things like flashing lights)
Personally I'd make Leon a tad more likeable and give each Knight Saber a bit more development.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm
I would give the suits ankles.
Define the Sabers' weaponry and equipment a little more rigidly, so that combat sequences can follow a little more internal logic than their current "we've got newer upgraded suits that can punch harder than your lasers can lase" or whatever.
I would make the suits a little bulkier to allow space for internal machinery and enough... Oh heck I won't keep going on about the suits. You saw the fanart so you already know the attributes of my opinions on such matters.
Uhhhh get rid of the topless scenes; for Various Reasons I'm not a big fan of fanservice in general.
Make Mackie and Linna actual characters, with character traits and character arcs and characteristics and stuff. One of the only good things the 2040 reboot did was make Linna a sort of POV character as the only 'normal one.' I thought that worked really well. In the fanfic I wrote, that's how I use her. And Mackie... His big sister is a closeted psychopath with the fortune and propensity to fund a private army, frequently makes him drive through exploding factories in the dead of night, and in the morning he has to... Go to school? Do his friends just think he spends all his time on some obsessive hobby, so when they come over he has to pretend to be some kind of expert in building model trains just to keep up appearances? Do the Sabers go on a mission only to discover they can't fly, because Mackie had hockey practice and forgot to fuel the thermal rockets? Is Sylia on the PTA??? This is comedy gold.
As far as animation style goes, the original nailed it in terms of what I want and what I like. Yeah it would be cheaper today to CGI it, but that sounds worse to me for reasons. And yeah I know how much difficulty and baggage is added to art by costly development, but I want to have my cake and also to eat it. Pwease.
The show is usually fairly good about this next one, but I'll say it because a lot of modern stories fail at it: keep the plot small-scale. The show kind of lost me when they exploded all the Genome buildings around the planet, and the reboot REALLY lost the plot. Like, the protaganists are just one team, they should fight one-team sized threats. Just like Spiderman shouldn't face anyone bigger/badder than Doc Ock, the Sabers shouldn't ever deal with anything bigger than "somebody stole the codes to a military satellite." The codes to a military satellite is big stakes for them. That's a big deal. Their regular fair should be bagging/tagging/pacifying rampant androids or sabotaging corporate mischief. There's tons of ground to explore there. Maybe they can go biggish for a finale. Maybe. If they behave and are good. As a treat.
I like that the original was very episodic. Every episode can stand on its own as a little movie. I like that.
Sylia should appear to testify in court wearing full armor with a darth vader voice synthesizer. Nothing would be funnier than this. The show should be a little funny. It should be a little campy. The cast are all funny people with strong personalities. They should be allowed to be funny.
I disagree that Leon is currently unlikable, I think he's great. Obviously, he's a huge simp and a total tool, but he has tons of good aspects as well, and is an all-around swell dude if he weren't ever exposed to w o m e n. IMO, being a perfectly moral star child isn't what makes a good character, and if he has flaws that's opportunity for growth. But I concede that he does need to do more in the plot though. I'd give him an arc, some development or at least resolution to him and Priss, maybe he figures out Nene's secret ID and acts as their man on the inside, maybe he shows up with the calvary, maybe he's actual useful for once in his life, IDK.
Wild west episode.
Show boomers active in everyday life, I guess. We hear a lot about how useful they are in industry, but all we ever see are state-of-the-art combat models that look all scary, or weird one-offs like illegal vampire hookers. There are innumerable directions you could take domestic androids .
There's probably more I could say, but it's 2 in the morning and I'm pretty much just procedurally generating ideas like an LLM at this point. I still do like this show a lot, though maybe not as much as I once did.

TNG 2x03 "Elementary, Dear Data"
I watched this a while ago but forgot to write up my thoughts. Namely, let me recap the notable parts of this episode:
Geordi and Data being UNRELENTINGLY cute for like 8 minutes straight.
Pulaski, like everyone in Star Trek universe, absolutely jumping at the chance to do some am-dram / historical cosplay.
🎵 Oops I did it again. I created sentient life. 🎵 First of many episodes where sentient lifeforms are casually created by accident. In this case, it's Geordi just asking the computer to design an adversary capable of outwitting Data and the computer is like, "Okay, a sentient lifeform it is, then!"
(Picard's reaction when informed about this is A+.)
Pulaski is very rude to Data but honestly, I love her relationship with Data and the way it develops over time. In particular, I love how this episode opens with Pulaski casting doubt on Data's ability to achieve parts of human experience, and then she meets an even more bizarre computer-based artificial lifeform who is very different than Data (much more personable but also disembodied) and has her way of thinking challenged in multiple ways.
(Geordi consistently jumping to Data's defense is also great.)
Picard and his aristocratic top hat! And Worf showing up in an incredibly sharp suit with GLOVES. You might think that this is foreshadowing that Worf will need to enter the holodeck at some point when things get hairy, but actually no. The purpose of Worf showing up incredibly well-dressed is just so the viewer has the pleasure of seeing Worf incredibly well-dressed.
The emotional, bittersweet ending!
This episode is campy but it's also quite sweet/wholesome and wrestles with an interesting sci-fi concept. It makes me a bit sad because of how out of place this episode would be in e.g. the new Picard series or Discovery. Picard (and Discovery too) is an action show in the style of a lot of contemporary action TV series and movies -- the show never gives you breathing space. It's just one crisis after another; you never really get to know the supporting cast; the characters don't have the luxury to explore their interests and hobbies; and the stakes are, like, apocalyptic or genocidal. It's a shame there's no room to just have characters having fun in their free time (and, you know, accidentally creating life, oops...). The stakes in "Elementary, Dear Data" are a single hologram man's life and the episode still manages to sell the emotions. Stakes don't have to be so high in order to have emotional weight.
Lower Decks at least has managed to capture the general spirit of Star Trek which is that the crew is a family that supports each other and encourages each other to try new things and grow. They hang out together, they're living fulfilling lives while also solving problems and risking their lives to help people. Unfortunately, Lower Decks lacks the elements of philosophical musing and emotional weight that other Star Trek series do, but overall it's much closer in spirit to Star Trek TNG than Picard is.

Was wondering on your thoughts about the S&B show if you’ve watched it? I went in with low expectations and watched it for the Six of Crows characters but found that the show maintained the low expectations, at least for me. I did enjoy the Crows parts but I guess I just didn’t enjoy them being entangled with the S&B plot. I wish they’d just done S1 be about S&B and then have season 2 be the Crows.
i enjoyed it more than you did, but i totally get the underwhelming feeling because it started out really strong for me and it kind of petered out before returning full force in that last ep. i think the problem was the pacing. yes, they were being ambitious trying to put these two storylines together, but i think because of this mesh-up, they kind of rushed through some parts, while keeping others in a weird kind of limbo. i wanted more time with the crows spent in ketterdam to establish them better, and i wanted alina’s time at the little palace to be more concrete and to see her navigate that world more extensively. that whole segment was extremely rushed imo, whereas they spent way too much time on montages of mal and alina to try and show us how alina’s feelings are changing while at the palace, but a much better way to see alina undergoing a change is to have her actually *do* stuff in the palace instead of narrating her letters (and i like malina, but i found that obnoxious)
anyway, idk if the episode limit was imposed by netflix, but having at least two more episodes this season would’ve helped a lot, imo. i can also see why you would’ve wanted for the two storylines to be kept separate, because that would have evened out the pace and it would’ve made the characters on both sides appear more developed (i mean, the performances were great and elevated nearly all the characters, but some flesh was missing from the bones, especially with the Crows). on the other hand, they took a creative risk that nearly paid off by bridging these two stories. there are some great lil plot and character moments that happen because the storylines coincide. i’m still generally happy with what we were given, but i hope they solve the pacing issue in the second season.
(oh yeah, forgot to mention: the darkling’s backstory was the most rushed! it was downright campy! and im not just talking about that awful wig. i think they should’ve saved it for season 2, cuz it was not handled well imo)

Episode Seven
I am being very inconsistent with my breakdowns this season. Both with Drag Race and in general 😂
Anyway, the reading challenge! We love the reading challenge. Nearly everyone had at least 1 good roast, except for Miss Elliott. I dont know what she was trying to do, but none of it worked. On the plus side though, Gottmik was hilarious? I just wasn't expecting that from her, but I love it. Honestly though I think my favourite was Olivia Lux's "Kandy Ho...wait, I mean Kandy is a hoe" that was so funny! Rosé and Denali were also really funny, but I kind of loved everyone else's reads for Rosé, I feel like she brought out the best in people 😂
I wasn't super excited for Bossy Rossy to come back. I just think improv is *so* hard, and it's really easy to be tripped up. Having said that, I actually really enjoyed this episode. I felt like all the scenarios were just so ridiculous that actually it worked in everyone's favour.
1. Denali
Denali was so funny this week! I was not expecting physical comedy from her and Rosé, but they absolutely killed it. The outfits and the voices were properly giving me Jerry Springer, and omg PREGNANTE just killed me! They were actually genuinely funny!
And her look this week...I actually gasped when she turned the corner. It was such a beautiful look, and I really felt that like grand chandelier thing she was going for. I loved it, and I think Denali should have been top 3 this week instead of Kandy. The judges are sleeping on Denali and I don't get it. I think she's great!
2. Elliott with Two Ts
I barely even want to talk about Elliott this week. Nothing she did was funny. Nothing she did this week was enjoyable. She was bad in the sketch. The runway look was ugly and tacky. I'm bored. She wasn't even that good in the lipsync, I do not understand why she's still there.
I mean, I feel for her with her struggle with depression, that's really hard, and I know that it does isolate you from people, and I understand why she's been very detached from the rest of the cast. I feel for her, and I really hope she has a good support system around her; but her performance this week (and every other week) was still bad.
3. Gottmik
Gottmik was actually so funny this week. She really was that like soft spoken, condescending, hand gestures, "active listening" faux-psychologist; I loved it. I really bought the character, I thought she was funny, she worked really well with Olivia, and also that look? The pink suit? Amazing. Also she had so many little throwaway mime one liners that were so clever! She was kind of unfortunate in that Olivia was really the standout performer in that group, and that other groups also performed really well, because I think she was a real contender for top 3 this week.
I looooved Gottmik's runway. The big anal bead hair piece? Amazing. And the dress being all that one colour, but with the texture of the beads and the latex? Perfect. And the way she painted her face! I just loved it, it was beads in a really unconventional way, and I love that about Gottmik, she always brings her perspective. The only thing, and it is such a teeny tiny thing, is that I wish the shoes had had more of a "round" feeling? Like everything else felt like latex balls and then the shoes were just like red pumps. I wish they'd been more like those McQueen heels Gaga wore, that were really rounded? It's such a small thing though, like the look was perfect, I'm just being super picky!
4. Kandy Muse
I dont really understand why Kandy was top 3 this week. I do like that she tried something different, and I like that she was aiming for this very cold, Paris Hilton type thing, but I just don't think she went far enough with it. The sketch as a whole was funny, but for me the humour came from Symone.
The look this week though. Kandy Muse has never looked better. She looked amazing! That big hat, with the big fur stole, and the beads just dripping off everything, it was so perfect. I just loved it.
5. Lala Ri
I actually don't think Lala was that bad this week! Was she utterly hilarious in her performance? No, but improv is hard, and she gave it her absolute best. I actually thought she was pretty funny, I loved the pregnancy belly being totally the wrong skin colour, I thought the trust fall thing was a really funny idea, I dont think she did too badly! Also, there was a moment right before the trust fall where she was counting Rosé in, and she just went "one, FALL", and that was so much funnier than they gave it credit for. For me, it was a safe performance.
I also really liked her look! It immediately gave me beads, I loved the kind of carnivale presentation she gave, I enjoyed it! Okay, the body suit had a rip in it, but sometimes shit happens when you're putting on a garment okay? I forgive the rip. I do get that, okay, it's a body suit with basically a beaded bikini, I see that. But honestly, I just don't think anything Lala did this week was THAT bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I just felt safe to me.
Lala didn't deserve to go this week. She was better than Elliott in the challenge, her runway look was better than Eliott's, and she beat Elliott in the lipsync. I do not understand the judging on this show. Bottom 2 should have been Utica and Elliott, and Elliott should have gone.
6. Olivia Lux
Olivia made me so happy this week. I mean, she makes me happy every week, I am fully an Olivia Stan, but oh my god. She killed it this week! She said like 3 words the whole time, but I could barely take my eyes off her! When they were talking through parts in the work room, I was ao worried about her, and I was so concerned that she'd fade into the background because she couldn't talk, but holy shit she was so funny! She had the energy, she went so over the top with her actions, I was not at all expecting that slapstick type funny from her but she delivered. Olivia's performance was absolutely my favourite this week, I was just so blown away by her.
Also, that runway look was amazing! I loved her interpretation of beads, it was so cute, and so fun, and she really embodied that kind of pre-teen joy and care-free spirit. I just loved it. It seems like she's worked a lot with Mondo Guerra on her runway looks this season, which I live, because I adore Mondo, and every week I can't wait to see what she's wearing!
7. Rosé
I was really impressed with Rosé! Her and Denali were so funny together, and Rosé in particular was really funny with "Jared", like she never forgot that there was meant to be an invisible boyfriend next to her; she was holding his hand, she looked at him like he was really there, it was amazing. I was genuinely really impressed with Rosé this week.
Where I felt like she fell down a little bit was with her runway. Was it cute? Absolutely. Was it amazing? No. It just didn't give me anything, I didn't get a story, or a character, or a feeling, it was just "oh, that looks good". Which is fine, but it doesn't win challenges, you know?
8. Symone
Deboooorah! I loved Symone this week. I actually loved that their sketch wasn't massive high energy and screaming and yelling, because that wasn't the characters they were given. They did such an amazing job of being the child stars crying on Oprah's sofa type characters, and I actually loved it. Also, the candle thing was hysterical, Symone holding a candle that says "desperation" and crying was just so funny to me. She absolutely sold me the character, I was really getting a Real Housewives moment where they're like "I'm starting my own business where I'm going to make my own candles!" And then they get really emotional about it. I loved it so much, she was hilarious this week.
And Symone's look! My flatmate and I were literally applauding in our front room. It was perfect. It was beautifully made, all the proportions were perfect, the colour palette was gorgeous, the attention to detail was everything, I loved it so much. AND SHE HAD HER NAME IN HER HAIR! The beads in her hair spelled out SYMONE. Everything about it was perfect.
I really couldn't pick this week whether Symone or Olivia was going to win, and honestly I didn't mind either way. They were both just so incredible.
9. Tina Burner
You guys. I am bored of Tina Burner. I can't believe I'm saying it either. But she walked in being really like campy and fun, and then just sort of flatlined. I didn't think she was that funny this week. Even next to Elliott, the least funny queen in the whole line up, she didn't seem like the funny one. I am disappointed. The only bit of their sketch that was funny was them fighting with the huge ass and tits. That was just so ridiculous that it was funny.
I'll tell you what else, I've already forgotten what she wore on the runway. I watched this episode less than 24 hours ago, and yet I've got to go back and watch it again so I remember Tina. And then I remembered why it didn't stick in my mind. I don't know what she was thinking but...she's lucky the judges liked her challenge performance. Also, it looked like a worse version of Crystal Methyd's entrance look with some beads stuck on. Didn't get it, didnt like it, still waiting for Tina to wear something good on the runway.
The one thing I will say about Tina this week is that we really saw her be a human with Elliott, and I really loved that. That was the first time this season that I've really liked Tina. I appreciate that she gave Elliott that pep talk, and that she said that thing in her confessional about being a bit judgmental and feeling guilty about it, I really appreciated that, and I feel like we saw a real person. I want more of that!
10. Utica
Utica... I don't think she's long for this competition, I'm afraid. She literally started this week saying she's a scene stealer, and she does improv regularly, and she was really excited for this challenge...what happened? I was lost, during her whole performance. First of all, she was supposed to be Olivia's mum, hadn't seen her for 20 years, but she came out looking like a 19 year old? I think she was aiming for that like "mutton dressed as lamb" type look, those mom's who are like "me and my daughter always get confused for sisters!" thing, but she didn't go far enough with it. It just didn't work. And then the Starbucks thing? Didn't get that either. The one thing I will give her is I loved that she shushed Olivia when Olivia was like copying the hand gestures in a really mocking way, I thought that was so funny. But other than that... Utica should have been lipsyncing this week, honestly. She wasn't funny. Where were the jokes??
The only things that saved her this week was the look. It was stunning. I dont really know what else to say about it, because it was just gorgeous. It was beautiful, but a bit twisted and freaky, and tragic all in one. Stunning.
The other thing I want to say about this week is that moment when they were doing makeup, and Kandy was being Maury, and Lala was running around the workroom having just been told Tina was not the father of her children, followed by Mik the camera operator and Elliott the sound tech? Hilarious. That was the funniest bit of the whole episode, I was creasing 👌👌
For me, the top 2 of the season are Olivia and Symone. I've thought that since the very first episode, and honestly, the others are great (mostly), but to me they just aren't on the same level as Olivia and Symone. They're just both amazing, they're so funny, and so talented, and incredible performers, and absolute Stars on the runway.

ok quickly before i go to bed, thots on be more chill:
- the production design and choreography are both very fun and campy, i like it
- they have a THEREMIN in the pit which is like... how to win me over in 0.2 seconds
- the main character i found to be super super whiny and not relatable at all, like not outright annoying but he can be a straight up selfish asshole not even w the squip
- it’s super cliche which is not neccesarily a bad thing but it hits basically all the plot beats you expect it to and all the characters are just not real people
- to that point though, they do camp it up to a level that makes it fun to watch even if it feels totally unrealistic not even with the crazy brain computer shit
- rich burns down the house... so fuckin funny... id like the show a lot more if they embraced the absurdity of the situations like in this number
- justice for michael tbh... michael in the bathroom is the best song and a big ass mood. once they got to that song i got a little angry bc it made me realize george salazar has a good fucking voice that is way underused
- just in general i feel like theres a good story here but the writers gave up halfway thru and just forgot to write compelling characters
- also i soo wish that jeremy got some consequences for his actions... like in my hypothetical rewrite of the show i would have had christine end up w jake and reject jeremy because tbh he barely fuckin knows her and not every girl you like will like you back
- also in my version by the end of the show michael doesn’t forgive him. he gets a new friend who isnt such a piece of shit
- when rich goes at the end “actually im bi” i literally wanted to barf this entire show is like exceedingly heterosexual but this part in particular. like crazy idea but maybe theres a way to add a gay character without doing it in the last 5 minutes and then playing it as a joke
- OH i must say i loved the squip as a character tho and how he gets more badass costumes as he goes on... that guy is great. also i love how it gets all fashy at the end thats cool.
- speaking of the sequence where hes describing the pill and theyre all in the crazy suits dancing was greattt like thats what i mean about playing up the absurdity those r the best parts
- in general the best parts of the show were the comedic or the absurd parts. none of the emotional beats except for michael in the bathroom hit 4 me. also i like big musical numbers so that but i’m just a gay person that doesnt mean its good
- also as soon as i found out will roland is 30 i wanted to scream... literally hello fellow kids .jpg
- justice for all the female characters... depth? never heard of her, we only have two bimbos, a gossip, and an “lol so RANDUM” girl
- seriously though christine was a terrible character she has no personality outside of being weird, liking theater, and being jeremy’s crush. like does she ever even have anything in fucking common with jeremy? the one time they connect its bc hes drunk and says nonsense noises lol
ok thats all im schleep folks

Supergirl 3x18 Shelter from the Storm Reactions
Lena’s lived in a hotel FOR TWO YEARS???? She’s been afraid the city would reject her for TWO YEARS??
I mean, I guess so did Royal Tenenbaum?
GIVE. LENA.LUTHOR. A. HUG. No, I rephrase. I will give Lena Luthor a hug. C’mere, girl. I got you!
Aw, GuardianCorp is cute y’all. I’m still annoyed how they started out - for writing purposes it was just lazy in that they just didn’t lay the groundwork right for that relationship - BUT I do like Lena and James where they are right now and the last few episodes gave them both more screentime to actually display their relationship dynamic to the viewer outside of them both being territorial at work, not trusting a Luthor blah de blah. And I LIKE James. He’s such a great character, I want to see more of this secure, comfortable, good hearted, talented dude.
James doesn’t have his tie on yet, but he has his Shield on? YEAH OK
OOOOO Kryptonite Spray. Dang. I’d be afraid I’d mix that up with perfume or something. Also, it’s so pretty!
Reign’s up early lol
Space Dad and Space Grand Dad BEAAAANS
Lol Coffee as bean water is just so funny to me. Cuz it’s true
DEO & Legion Crew Where’s my Brainy & Winn BROTP
Cape tricks just sounds dirty to me. Is it just me? Aw THERE’S MY BRAINY & WINN BROTP lolz
“Future dirt” bahahaha I’m dying This reminds me of a time I went to an festival and forgot to get my brother something so I picked up a rock from the parking lot (I was going to steal a sign but I didn’t have the right screw driver) and gave it to him and told him it was from the moon. He believed it for about 5 hours. The look on his face when he realized it definitely was not a legit moon rock though….hahahaha. It’s been over 10 years and it’s still funny.
Brainy hugs like my Toddler and it’s terrifying. Here, let me squish your face. eeeeeeeeee
Alex at Luthor Mansion AN INVISIBLE MANSION??? WHAT THE WHAT And I thought invisible jets were cool
Kara & J’onn checking in on Lena & James Kara asking if Lena’s ok D’awww. MORE TENSION PLEASE Screw you James, no one cares hahaha JK, but really - y’all are friends. Shouldn’t you check in with him, Kara?
I don’t know what Lena’s dress pattern is, but I think it’d be tight as a bow tie.
Kara & J’onn go to see Mama “White Lady” Arias Lmao White Lady with a shotgun? Eeeeee
ARE HER SCRIBBLES KRYPTONIAN OH SHEEEEET
Can we talk about how neatly the Reign World Killer symbol has been penciled onto the wall?
“I’m not gonna turn away from her now” says Mama Arias but you were gonna pull a gun on someone looking for pills?
OKAY
Alex Visits Ruby at Luthor “It’s Invisible” Mansion Aw Ruby loves Alex
I LOVE MOM ALEX OMGGGG
Back to Kara & J’onn at Mama “White Lady” Arias’ house Hahaha Kara and food. I’m with you, lady. Pudding’s pretty great.
Dead flowers CALLED IT. REIGN IS BLIGHT HAHAHAHA SUCKAHS It might just be that I’m super gay, but holy hell Reign’s nails are terrifying.
Ohmygod. This just got TEMPLE OF DOOM level intense.
If Sam was upset about killing people as Reign before. Geeeez
Mon El/Imra and the Necklace at the DEO MONEL. GIVE. THE NECKLACE. BAAAAACK ALKDFSJ;LKDFJS;LDFJKSLDFJKSLDJKS
Brainy bugged the diiiirt?? Awww dude
Are you suuuuure there’s no blight?
Even if Sam comes back at this point, how is she going to live with herself?
Back to Luthor Mansion with Alex and Ruby ALEX LOVES YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN?!?
I didn’t think I could love her more.
Hell yes.
Aw, Rubes knows she’s being lied to. Kids know.
Back to the DEO Party SUPERGIRL, YOUR SECRET WEAPON IS LENA GODDAMMIT
Um, why can’t Imra just stay?
Also, did Chris lose a ton of weight? Are you ok? Is that why we have a beard?
Lena with Kryptonite
Weeeelll this is awkward
Soooo why is Kara ok with low levels of Kryptonite in the training room? Ok ok, I have to go back and rewatch that scene.
Rewatching-
This is OOC Kara, IMO and I like angst.
I dunno, it was just too quick jumping down Lena’s throat. Totes in character for Lena though.
“Even if I did trust you” says SG
That means you don’t. Ouch.
Reign found the invisible mansion without a generator....apparently I know it’s a plot point, but wouldn’t Lex friggin Luthor have a generator to avoid what Reign just did in cutting the power
What cat did they use for Reign’s growl? Damn
Uhhh WHERE’S THE KRYPTONITE SPRAY
Lena save the good stuff for her hotel room? Lmao
I didn’t know bullets could be extra. But that bullet Alex just shot? Super Extra
Reign Unmasked Aw Ruby. Aw honey baby pie. :((((((( I’m sorry, sweetie.
Reign contained in LCorp Oh shit. We back at LCorp
I LOVE LENA SO MUCH. DAMMIT
Aw I was weirdly hoping Lena and Monel would have a conversation. Is that weird? Hmmm
J’onn and his dad’s storyline just breaks my heart.
And Alexa and Ruby breaks my heart.
Lena and Kara breaks my heart.
SUPERGIRL IS BREAKING MY HEART.
I’d be lying though if I said I didn’t love it.
Kara & Lena in Elevator Whoaaaaa “She crossed a line. I can never trust her again”-Lena BREAKIN. MY. HEART.
I know some of y’all think Lena knows due to this scene. But I don't think so. I think that look was her being hurt about her relationship with supergirl and calculating/thinking that Kara is close to SG. If she already knew that Kara was Supergirl, I don’t think we’d get this frankness about what happened and this honesty about how she feels about it. IMO, Lena would shut her out, or wouldn’t give additional/in depth information unless absolutely necessary. This was an “overshare” to a friend.
That hug was so sweet though.
I’m bummed that this angst is occurring because of such out of character behavior from Kara. I guess it was the easiest way to have Kara be upset and set Lena up as following in Luthor footsteps?
I dunno. Maybe I’ve read too many fanfictions, but I think there were other ways for a similar dynamic to have been created without Supergirl acting out. Maybe I just needed more on screen reason for Kara to be so untrusting or SO afraid of her best friend? We’ve spent basically two seasons of Kara defending Lena against the world, literally. This included a video of Lena allegedly stealing kryptonite. Kara’s doubt happened too quickly.
Do I think she should be upset about the kryptonite thing? Absolutely. It adds to being upset about Lena not telling Supergirl about holding Reign in the first place. They could have worked together from the start, or at least, that would be Kara’s view of it and that’s realistic to her character. Having Kara hurt that Lena didn’t trust her? Now that I believe. That’s a more organic wedge to put between them. Kara being trusting and eager to help and having Lena be the one that’s insecure in their relationship with trust issues? I am here for in character angst. Honestly that’s why I love the two of them. Their dynamic is so wonderful with each of their histories. It’s why I keep reading SuperCorp fanfiction. And look - I’m not expecting SuperCorp to be cannon, but the things that make a romantic relationship believable are the same traits that make their platonic cannon relationship so endearing and believable as well. They’re complimentary opposites. Both come from a place of pain and loss, Kara with an almost endless optimism and outward empathy to the world with Lena holding things closer to the chest, a little more pessimistic/realistic but still working for what she thinks is right for the world and those closest to her.
Maybe that coffee was a mistake.
Anyways. I’m still frustrated with the show for writing out of character behaviors in order to move plots along. That said, it’s a campy superhero show and I’ve definitely been entertained by this episode and the last few while still feeling relatively connected to the characters so it’s not all bad.
Definitely looking forward to how they tie this up for the season or leave it hanging for next.

Oh no, why was the season so bad in your opinion?
i mean, there were a lot of reasons, but if you want the short version a lot of this season felt very all over the place. and by that i mean a lot of what was set up in season 3 in terms of character development, character motivation, and allusions to future important plot points were pretty much abandoned during this latter half of the season in favor of focusing on the coalition and this big blow to the galra empire they dealt in the last two episodes (which, after the finale of season 2, this didn’t even compare).
i’m probably gonna go episode by episode for this because there’s just so much that bothered me so if you want to read the rest of it just peek under the cut
tl;dr: this was by far the weakest season
episode 1so admittedly the blade of marmora stuff was just aesthetically cool. i got really excited when it was keith on one of those missions. the get up looks great on him and he just does so well with their fighting style. seeing the brief fighting moments with him and how BOM functions in general was really cool and i liked that bit.
the only problem is that it came out of nowhere
at no point in the entirety of season 3 did keith indicate that he was thinking of going to train with the blade. we learned that because shiro told us that. and like….keith training with them isn’t a bad thing. but it certainly becomes a huge thing when he’s pulling away from the team so much that shiro had to hop into the black lion and take control of the team again. and then once shiro is finally back in the black lion, keith straight up decides to leave team voltron because he wasn’t meant to be the leader anyway.
there’s so much about this that’s weird and it has a lot to do with the character development keith was set up with in season 3. he was a reluctant leader. this wasn’t the job he wanted but it’s the job he has to do because there’s no other choice. he’s learning to listen to his teammates. he’s becoming more comfortable leading. he’s taking shiro’s direction and using the advice of a more seasoned leader to try and improve his own leadership. he actually did a really good fucking job of it and i was excited to see that improve. …..and then it all gets shot to hell because, oh well, keith can’t lead, shiro’s back in the lion, guess it’s time for me to peace out.
there was not enough of a look into keith’s motivations so it all felt very sudden. and it’s also at this point that the lion switching that happened before feels even more useless than before.
why bring shiro back and have him not be able to pilot his lion if you were going to give it back to him anyway once keith left the team? why give keith a character arc to develop his leadership if you were just going to have him leave the team? why make lance go through an emotional arc where he has to put aside his ego and trust in his skills in order to pilot the red lion and become a better supportive teammate for keith if literally none of that is going to be referenced in the new season? at this point, it feels like the only reason this lion switching happened was to give allura a lion and develop allura.
anyway, the group hug at the end was cute i guess.
episode 2perfect. so perfect. and not just because i love pidge. the flashbacks to her brother, her search for him, that fucking heart breaking moment with her at the rebel cemetery, their reunion, them fighting together, all of it was perfect. best episode in the season. no complaints.
episode 3so, positives out the way first. the kaltenecker scene is still genius. pidge showing matt around the castle was precious. not super warmed up to matt yet but i like the relationship that he has with pidge and i love how much happier pidge is now that he’s here. that’s wonderful.
zarkon is darth vader now i guess. also his return was the single most anti-climactic part of this season. i literally almost forgot he came back as i was typing this. he seems to be obsessed with finding lotor while his wife fucking does everything as usual.
this episode was pretty tame although it starts to show why i’m annoyed with lotor this season. beforehand having his motivations and intentions kept secret was cool. he seemed to be going against his father’s methods while also trying to act in the interest of the empire – like a “i’m going to do this my way” kinda guy. that’s starting to fall apart this season in a way that’s not mysterious or appealing but in a way that’s just flat out confusing.
he has so many different plans doing on. the trans reality comet to make those ships. trying to go through the rift. and later on in the season, actually trying to help the voltron coalition for reasons we’re not totally clued in on yet (but more on that later). i don’t know what lotor wants. i don’t know what’s driving him. i don’t know what he’s after. i don’t know why he hates his father so much. i don’t know……literally anything about him. and it’s been a whole season. i know what he’s doing, but i don’t know why and it’s making him a very confusing character.
also….his generals ditched him very quickly. killing narti i actually kind of liked (even though, fuck, i liked her) since it seems he values his personal goals more than his generals. and based on how much his generals practically worshipped him before (especially acxa) i would’ve though they’d take that as a warning. except, the minute lotor became a fugitive they totally abandoned ship bc they wanted to save their own skins. that’s a…..huge 360. and of course lotor escapes anyway so their fates are in limbo and for now they’re not in the story anymore. that whole thing just seemed rushed and like it should’ve taken more episodes to accomplish.
episode 4hated it. i can’t believe i sat through it. ignoring the fact that hunk got demoted down to fart jokes (except let’s not ignore that fact because what the fuck) it was a useless episode. the coalition stuff in general was an interesting detail to place in the first episode but after that it seemed heavy handed. to devote an entire comic relief episode to a heavy handed process of putting on performances to gain coalition support seemed really useless. it also didn’t help that….we didn’t see….anyone really join. we’re told they are. but there was no emotional speech. no shots of people signing up. like it was stripped of all emotionality and therefore became annoying. it was campy and childish and honestly really fucking annoying.
episode 5 +6just gonna add these together since it’s essentially a two parter.
matt’s role sort of really delved into the background in a way that i didn’t like. he’s kinda just there now – could’ve been easily replaced with literally any random rebel officer. i expected him to be a captain and i expected him to run shit. instead he spent days of his life just listening to radio frequencies and he answers to this mysterious captain of the resistance (olia? who are you? what’s your deal? we’re not told? okay cool?) and that’s p much it. sorta expected him to play a bigger role in things but whatever.
it was a cool couple of episodes but so much of it was fighting. what made the end of season 2 so amazing was the emotional aspects of it brought in. the BOM agent sacrificing himself. the fight with zarkon where the stakes were incredibly high. voltron almost dying. shiro talking everyone up. everyone literally willing to die to take zarkon down. it was done really really well.
this time for some reason the big “oh my god we might die” moment didn’t feel as dire. and i think it’s because everyone was so fucking calm with the reality that they were going to freaking die. there was no emotional impact in this part of the episode at all and it’s what makes these sorts of fights cool. when things get bad, that’s the time when we need to see people’s emotions and honestly the end of this season felt so effing stale. about the only really great part was the allura and lance bit at the end of the episode. and even though it kinda came totally out of left field, it somewhat saved what was an otherwise bland final battle. i mean come on they were on a fucking bomb that was going to blow up five solar systems you’re telling me they were just cool as a cucumber about that? bullshit.
keith gave me a heart attack for half a second i’ll admit, although the power of his almost-sacrifice was lost because he was fucking gone this whole time. now had he done that as the black paladin/leader of voltron, hell yeah i would’ve started crying. instead i was anticipating his death and planning to be fucking livid about it later. but hey! no problem! because lotor came and saved the day. and…..is trying to cozy up to the coalition.
which is the single most random thing that happened this entire season. it makes no sense. why is this happening? i know we’re not meant to know and i know he probably has his own plans as to why he’s doing this, but again. because his motivations are completely shrouded, lotor helping keith isn’t interesting. it’s just confusing. he’s a black sheep that just runs on his own agenda and we don’t know why and we don’t know what that agenda is. so that episode ended and i was just really really perplexed.
final thoughts: all the interesting character arc set up from season 3 was scrapped, any further character development was also sidelines this season, idk what the fuck lotor is doing and it’s annoying now, why is zarkon back he’s literally so useless now, fuck the coalition i don’t care about it give me exposition instead, and i want keith back on team voltron….
AND WHAT THE FUCK IS PROJECT KURON? DID WE FORGET ABOUT THAT? WHAT IS SHIRO’S DEAL? WE TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT!
i’m……..going to rewatch season 3 and pretend none of this ever happened.

thoughts about tonights episode (the kardashian musical):
First of all, I’m going to say my predictions for the episode before it aired. I thought that Alexis, Cynthia, or Peppermint were either going to win or be top 3 because it was a musical (I didn't know it was a lip sync at first), and I figured Eureka would go home (or Farrah if she has to lip sync)
Wow I could tell Eureka was going home the moment they started talking about her injury because I remember reading a rumor on Reddit that someone leaves because of an injury (gagged because we all thought it was gonna be Charlie.......yall got me there bitch!).
Also when she apologized to Val and Sasha: to me, I think the producers wanted Eureka to do that, but I hope she comes forward and says that she really meant it. But to me, that scene/edit made me think that the producers wanted her to tie up lose ends so that she could leave the show without being hated by the fanbase (its good that they're doing that though, btw)
Wow that musical concept was.........a Choice. However, even though the kardashians are the least talented ppl in showbiz right now, I honestly appreciate the campiness of the musical, like they kept it relatively on brand for the show and the clan, I think (I dont watch KUWTK, so i can't verify that for sure)
I thought Peppermint, Sasha, and Trinity were all kind of forgettable in the performance for me. Like they were just kinda meant to be thrown into the background for this episode in general (which I guess could be understandable because they were at the foreground of the previous challenge). I wonder if this is also because of the show’s structure (I can't make any valid suggestions on how to improve this, because theres a matter of time constraints both in filming and in airtime that I bet were very hard to navigate for the writers)
I’m happy Peppermint was in the top this episode, but now I’m worried that some of her basic fashion choices will cost her the chance at going even further in the competition. I’m certain that she will win at least one challenge, and that maybe she’ll turn out at least one lip sync before she goes.
Speaking of forgettable performances, I completely forgot about everyone when miss Shea Coulee came on as Blac Chyna and totally STOLE. THE SHOW. Bottom line, cut and dry, she killed it! I can see why Nina was so bitter about not being able to play that part.
The runway.....im still a little salty that they're cutting these runways short, but bless Logo for running the full runway reel on their website (I hope they do that for the rest of these shorter runway presentations). I wasn't totally impressed with the looks this runway, I think the only standouts in my opinions were Shea, Nina, and Sasha. The concept was cute though, I hope PETA is screaming ferociously somewhere in the distance.
I could’ve sworn Alexis was gonna be the clear winner, because of how spot-on her soccer mom Kris Jenner was (though I'm not gagging over “mom-ager”, I think Alexis is gonna try way too hard to make bad catchphrases happen #SubwayFish?). However, as soon as Michelle read her for having a basic ass outfit, I done knew that she was gonna be just safe (omg thats 5 episodes straight of being just safe, girl.....)
miss Shea (Slay) Coulee already won 2 challenges just before Snatch Game, I think that means she's pretty much guaranteed to be in the top 3 (though in my opinion, this means she's already gonna win the damn competition)! I really hope the producers dont fuck with her edit before the finale, but I wouldnt take it upon them to do so in order to make us think that someone else has a shot at winning.
Not surprised at who's on the bottom here (they're all bottoms). Cynthia didnt know the words and Farrah was boring and lacking in personality (though, in my opinion, she deserves credit for being very well in character....)
That lip sync......was not great, but I really believe that it was better than the editing made it out to be. If the camera work had maybe shown more of each queen getting into some of their best choreography and face-serving, it might have looked better to us (the viewers).
I was kind of shook when a producer went up to Ru and then Ru got up and came back. Thats when I knew that something was fucked up....my first thought was that someone was disqualified again, but then I remembered that Eureka was on crutches the whole episode, and I kind of knew that Ru was gonna send her home for it...
Im glad that they let Eureka down easy with this elimination, and Im sure her image is gonna be better off than it was the previous episode, but in all honestly I’m not gonna be super psyched to see her on Season 10. I mean, I’m not gonna object, but I’m just not sure thats gonna go well (hopefully, I’m wrong though, I love it when the show proves me wrong!)
I’m really excited for Snatch Game next week!!

Can you rec some good shows?
SO SORRY ANON!!! I forgot this was in my drafts but I remembered so here you go
Sure can anon! Since you said we shared a similar taste… here’s a list of some of my faves!
Cougar Town - This is done by the same people who did Scrubs so you’ll see a lot of references and a lot of the same actors. Also similar humor styles. You’ll even see some characters… Like Ted. Ted is in this show. It’s an adorable family comedy about a neighborhood. It starts as something completely different from what it turns into… the change happens in S1E9. Also because Harry’s tight with the crew that makes it.. there’s even a Harry shoutout in S5E11!!!!
Xena Warrior Princess - I’m rewatching this right now and falling in love all over again! It’s really A+. Feminist af, gay af… and also ARES! Who is the love of my life. It’s also cool cause it takes from real history… and it’s SUPER meta and I love and appreciate it. Honestly, it makes Spn’s meta episodes look like they weren’t even trying.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - A classic. One of my best friends is watching for the first time and I’m remembering how great it is. This show is honest and real and emotional. It’s also funny and quirky and campy. It’s really the full package.
Private Practice - A Grey’s Anatomy spinoff that follows Addison after she leaves Seattle. It’s so much better than Grey’s tbh. It takes itself much less seriously than Grey’s so it’s less “Every! Episode! Is! High! Drama!!!” and more heart. It’s much more of a family vibe than Grey’s too because the cast and practice is smaller. Also VIOLET! and A M E L I A!!!!!!!!!! Amelia’s drug arc is my fave.
Parenthood - One of my fave family dramas. It’s so sweet and honest. That family really feels like home to me tbh… The arc where the grandmother stands up for herself and finds freedom is a personal fave.. and Sarah’s my fave character. She’s the “messy single mom” character and like…. that was my mom. Hardcore. There’s some stereotypical representation of autism that gets better as the show progresses…. It mainly gets better when a second autustic character who’s an adult is introduced and then it’s much much better. Also there’s some bi representation in this show too. It’s kinda really fucking good.
Brothers and Sisters - My absolute favorite family drama of all time. Follows the Walker family after the patriarch’s death. Is really amazing. Stars Calista Flockhart and Sally Field! so you know it’s good. The political part of it is my fave tho… idk it made me care about republicans? haha but it’s not like conservative propaganda. The family is very liberal except for one child so she’s challenged by her liberal family and held to different standards. idk it’s REALLY good. Honestly I couldn’t explain to you what this show is because it’s too special to me. I will say this.. Older gay representation. Like Silent Generation gay representation!
Ally McBeal - Speaking of Calista Flockhart…. haha This show is amazing!! Honestly it’s so quirky and cute and most of the time the characters are all super likable. Ally is mentally ill and that’s readily apparent the whole show. Also it does the Scrubs thing where it shows her daydreams and fantasies. There’s a reason it’s a classic. If you’ve ever wanted a 40 minute “drama” lawyer show that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is full of heart.. This is what you’ve been looking for.
Futurama - I watched this with Jasper early last year and honestly, I thought it was something totally different. This show is an animated sci-fi comedy and I thought it was going to be insensitive and ridiculous but it’s progressive and full of heart. It’s also LONG. So if you’re looking for something feel good for the long-haul, this is a great show.
Drop Dead Divia - I still don’t know why I love this show so much. It’s a fat main character - which I love. And she still dates like normal and is beautiful… so that’s awesome. Um… It’s another one of those light lawyer shows that doesn’t take it too seriously. Like if you like Ally or think that sounds up your alley but want something a little more up to date or with a slight fantasy twist, this is your show.
Happy Endings - This is one of my all time fave “friend group” comedies. It’s got so much heart and emotion and is really sweet. It has a non-stereotypical gay character who is my fave character. It’s a classic and like… I always recommend. if you like comedy shows surrounding a friend group, this is a classic.
Suburgatory - An incredible comedy that follows a girl from NYC who moves to this super rich suburb and has to adapt to rich white people life. It’s hysterical how it makes fun of rich white people and it’s also inspirational watching the characters grow and change. I love this show a lot.
I’ve wanted to keep this list free of shows that aren’t over so you can marathon the whole thing but I need to mention one show that’s still on because it deserves to be talked about more
The Middle - This show is about a working class family in Indiana. They’re the poorest family in their neighborhood. The show deals with complications that come from being poor and how this family deals with it. It’s really special and exciting in that way…. It’s the last of its kind. The way it deals with jobs, college, money… All really special. It’s also got loads of heart and the kids are characterized so well. It feels like a real family and is definitely a good feel-good representation of real life.
