Sometimes I will think about something I'm dealing with and wonder what Ryn would think or say, or what I would do if they were here and tonight I remembered again the conversation with the oncologist, about the tiny tiny tumor in their lungs that was only found with the autopsy, that wouldn't have been picked up in scans for months, and asking her about the long term prognosis.
Even if Ryn hadn't died because of the surgery, they'd almost certainly be dead by now anyway.
I was always going to have to do this (for whatever value of this) without them.

This has a bunch of authors I already love in it (Stephen Graham Jones, Darcie Little Badger, Waubgeshig Rice, and Rebecca Roanhorse!!), and several authors I've been meaning to try (like Tommy Orange, Nick Medina, and Kelli Jo Ford, to name a few), so I'm really hyped for them all to be together in one volume! Plus dark fiction is very much my jam (especially when it comes in a bright and colorful package).

I know the big trick everyone talks about for ADHD is setting timers but for me what has been most helpful is setting a timer for 2.5 minutes, exactly, and doing 2.5 minutes, exactly, worth of dishes. It’s triply effective because a) it’s a good way of starting that leads to longer chore-doing b) there’s a sense of “pffff fuck you timer I can do 2.5 minutes of dishes’ for the competitive edge and possibly most importantly c) if you cannot actually do 2.5 minutes of dishes, it is a sign that the menty h is not good and should be reevaluated. If there’s no moderate setting for your procrastination, try 2.5 minutes of dishes

#For the sake of no stolen valor I will say I do not have adhd#all I have is a high stress job with very little free time#so the minute I’m in a situation where there’s no ticking time bomb attached to the dishes I just stop doing them lol#and I have to remind myself that I enjoy having a clean apartment for its own sake#not just because I need to stay alive until my next shift#I actually did the dishes went to the fruit man took out the trash AND cooked yay <3

#polin#bridgerton#close to polin week maybe#(if s3 is released prior to polin week the life of s3 will live on longer than just it's release date/week/month which is smart marketing)#it wouldn't have made sense to have two bridgerton series release in the same year#(there would have been a huge gap between the 2023 releases and the next seasons so spreading them out makes sense)#potentially all the strikes will be over and everyone's getting fair pay and allowed to promote to their hearts content#so many wins guys#trash talk

I think about my own characters way more than any characters in media so I started with what characters came to mind first and the first 3 were from obscure series while the last two would have been very well known so I decided to instead come up with total of 5 all from obscure series instead so it would be more balanced. Wow, it's been a really long time since I've posted one of these, but I'm hoping doing so on the regular will keep me motivated to keep writing. I'm over half-way through my original timeline for Space Trash, so we're on the home stretch!
Here's a couple tiny blurbs from the main story of Space Trash and a tiny side project in the same AU.
“Who are you?” Jules asked with a confused frown. The recent events left her doubting he was even real. The man's eyebrows shot up. He transferred the massive hydrogen blade with its glowing edge to the opposite hand and offered the freed one to her. “King Alistair Theirin, monarch of the entire Fereldan system. We met a few hours ago, but it's fine. I've been told I'm a forgettable fellow.”
And from a side story:
He released her and started to roll his sleeves back down again. “You take care of the paint for me and I’ll go send Bull and the Chargers your way.” He started to walk away, then turned and walked backwards a few paces. “Oh, hey, is our bet still on?” “Absolutely. I can’t believe you think you’re gonna make money off that,” Jules scoffed. “I’m telling you,” Morgan said, shaking his head with a grin, “he’s gonna cry.”

I know I straight up disappeared for like... two weeks sos lol, but I've been putting my room together now I have a desk and a bed for the first time since I moved out of my student flat well over 18 months ago, and I have FINALLY got it all done (for now anyway, I'm absolutely skint this month and there's still a few things I need so I have to wait till I get some more money in a couple of weeks) and I'm sat writing at a DESK again and it's making me all 🥹🥹🥹
So yeah, I'm stuck at mum's for quite a while yet which I don't love but now I have my own space that's functional again, things aren't as bad as they could be 🥰🩵
#max rambles a lot#feeling very happy and content for a change#and also kind of relaxed which is sus and i don't trust it jdklfjldkg#i'm also off my meds which sounds like a bad thing but i actually feel better then when i was on them???#my sleep is trash now don't get me wrong but that's a temporary thing while i adjust to being off them#but yeah 2024 has been actually okay to start off with and it's got me nervous dkfljglfdkgd#just wish my besties hadn't moved further away so i could see them 🥺🥺 ah well next month we'll hang and it'll all be good
