Walking up Wangshu Inn’s now fixed stairs, courtesy of the Traveler,you make your way up to head to your room with almond tofu packed in a wooden box. It has a removable lid and a small, slim compartment for a wooden spoon on the inside. Your last commision happened to be for Xiangling and she insisted on cooking for you. At first you refused, but the pyro wielder wouldn’t back down either. You two ended up compromising that she’ll cook for you if you cook for her and she allowed you to also cook some almond tofu for Xiao and pack it for home. You’ve made a mental note to return the box to Xiangling tomorrow.

As you step off of the last wooden slab you round left, a smiling Verr Goldet greeting you behind a desk. You wave and say a quick hello. You would stay and chat, but you are obviously tired. Something Verr notices and just waves you off with a smile, telling you to get some rest. It seems your exhaustion is more obvious than you thought.

Grabbing the wooden handle, you open the door to your designated room that you use often during your adventuring throughout Liyue. Quite comfortable to have somewhere to stay that’s close to a lot of ruins and other places that may have treasure to find. Setting the almond tofu down, you call out his name. “Xiao!”. A poof of smoke appears beside you. 

“I’ve told you before, you needn’t yell. All you have to do is whisper my name and I’ll come.” 

“Hello to you too Xiao” you say with a playful smile. “Although, you usually like it when I scream your name, do you not?” It amazes many, including you and him, how easily you can fluster Xiao. His cheeks and ears redden as he sputters incoherent words, making a miserable attempt to answer.

Chuckling, you tap the wooden box on the dresser beside you. “I made some almond tofu for you when I was back at Liyue Harbor”. The adeptus’s gaze follows the sound as he stares at the box, seemingly in thought, before a small smile appears on his face. 

“Thank you Y/N. However”- grabbing you by the waist, one of his arms circles around you, pulling you closer as the other rests on the side of your face “I think I’d like something sweeter right now.” His thumb glides over your lips before he dives in for a kiss. It was short and sweet, followed by another one, and another longer one. Slowly, you start backing up as Xiao starts pushing you onto the bed behind you, lips still interlock.

“As you said, I like to hear you scream, so let’s see how loud you’ll get.” The adeptus slides his hand from your jaw, down your neck, resting it at the collar of your shirt, lightly pulling. 

“Xiao…”- a small whimper of his name left your lips. 

“This silly clothing is a nuisance. Take it off.” Following his instructions you take off your clothes, leaving you in your underwear. “Tch, I thought I said take it off.” 

“Wh-what, Xiao, what’re you-” a surprised squeal rips from your throat. 

The anemo wielder bends down, face over your crotch. He bites down on the fabric, teeth digging into the soft material and ripping it off of you. “There, that’s better”. You whine at the cold air hitting in between your legs.

In an attempt to stop the cold you try to squeeze your legs, alas, Xiao doesn’t allow it. “Legs stay open, understood?”- he says in a deep commanding voice. Hungry eyes stare as a shiver runs down your spine and you squeak out a small yes. His hands grip your thighs, opening them further. “Let me have a taste,”- he says, almost whispering, before diving in. A loud moan leaves your throat as Xiao’s wet muscle twists and turns, shockwaves of pleasure going through your body. Squelching noises and whimpers go throughout the room as he groans, vibrations adding onto the intense feeling. You can feel a tightening feeling appearing at your abdomen as your body spasms, thighs shaking in Xiao’s grasp and hands grabbing fists of the blanket beneath you. 

“A-ah~ X-Xiao~~ I- Fuck-, I’M-!”. He could tell, you needn’t say it. You scream out as he gives a particularly harsh suck, sending you over the edge. Your cum fills Xiao’s mouth, a drop that’s a mix of it and spit rolling down his chin before he swallows and licks off the drop.

Finally, with a quick snap of his hips, he sheathes in the rest of his cock, a gasp leaving your lips. “Everything alright?”

You know it's often talked about how Wilson was House's connection to this world and he was the one who brought him back who helped him during hard times who actually understood him better than anyone

But like,,,,, he understood him better than anyone because he was so complimentary to House. He's so fucked up just in his own ways. And we know way less about his past, just about his brother and his adult life but who knows what about his childhood set him up to be like this. He latched onto House in New Orleans just as hard as House did to him. They recognized something in each other, something more, something interesting. And like House says multiple times Wilson LIKES neediness he LIKES manipulative ppl hes attracted to chaos and craves more in his life than the carefully structured image he has for himself. He struggles so much with self expression because he spends so much time pushing it down and not thinking about it, but with House he can lean into that, and House will accept him, won't think his jokes are too dark or his chaos is too much.

So in turn Wilson "enables" House at every turn he gets because he lives through House. He doesn't think the man is crazy at all, and hates that he doesn't think that. He displays the image of goodness, of keeping House on a carefully controlled leash, but really House just seems to act the way he does and embraces Wilson as he goes.

The most amazing part of their relationship is that in the nondisclosed years between New Orleans and the start of the show, they somehow developed this social contract between them, this understanding that not only are they so much alike, but that they both need each other to complete what's lacking. They can do this almost entirely wordlessly, and the times when they do talk, they've figured out a way of saying one thing while meaning another. It helps them both confront things they otherwise feel overwhelmed by. Maybe that's insanely toxic and codependent and clearly the show is inconsistent in showing that over the years, going for story arcs that get views more than things that make sense for the characters but alas, but they manage to come back to this concept over and over again until the very last episode.

From the pilot's "does he care about you" "yeah he does" to the finale's "faking his death to spend the rest of your life with you with no backup plan, no life to hide behind.

Klaus and Elijah are definitely my favorites out of all the Mikaelsons, but I do love Rebekah a lot too! Freya, Finn, and Kol are further down the list, in that order. I love my murder children, but I’m not their mother—I’m not obligated to love them all equally!

I think the main appeal of Klaus and Elijah for me is simply their intensity. They’re the first originals we meet in tvd, and before we even see them together onscreen we can tell they have a fraught, complicated history—yet there’s love there too.

The flashbacks to the 15th century as they prepare to sacrifice Katherine? Klaus laughing about their silly ploys throughout history, while Elijah gazes lovingly over his shoulder? Bliss. I swoon. And the scene in present day, after Klaus has broken the curse and has just transformed back into a human? Elijah, the previous night (or however long ago) was prepared to kill him. Had his hand in his heart and everything. Yet now here he is, helping Klaus dress like some kind of butler—someone who’s been there for him like this time and again.

I go similarly insane about the flashbacks to the 1920s, in which Klaus has to explicitly tell the audience that Rebekah is his sister and not, you know, his girlfriend. But they do undercut this slightly with Rebekah immediately jumping on Stefan and, while I approve, climb that ripper tree, it does take away from her psychotic, erotic bond with Klaus.

And that’s just in tvd! That’s only setting the stage for TO! In TO, Klaus and Elijah’s bond is ramped up to main character status. Elijah is simultaneously Klaus’s brother-associate, his overbearing, cautioning father figure, and the lover with whom he has frequent spats and reconciliations. Klaus is having a baby? No, Elijah says, we’re having a baby! And inserts himself into this pregnancy situation with Hayley, and no one questions it.

(Klaus and Rebekah’s relationship also gets some amazing moments in s1 of TO, and for the first time Rebekah and Elijah’s relationship gets to shine too! But alas, after some of the best episodes of the entire show—episodes 1x14-16—Rebekah departs, so we get to see less of her with her siblings, and Klelijah continues to take center stage.)

I could detail every single thing I love about Klelijah’s relationship, their ups and downs, their tragedy and their comedy—and I might come back later and add on, if I feel like it!—but yeah, that’s my draw to these two. Canon is so generous with them, and I simply go crazy for it!

Not to mention—the actors’ chemistry had a huge hand in all this. They bounce off each other so well, and their mannerisms are so different yet both so old at the same time. You really believe they’ve known each other for a thousand years, and any fight that they have is mere window dressing to the centuries they’ve stood shoulder to shoulder.

And not only that! But! (⚠️Spoilers for the end of TO, if anyone still cares about that⚠️) The show rewards me and lets them die together. Klaus makes the ultimate sacrifice for his daughter, and Elijah’s like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ guess I’ll die too, and follows him into oblivion for no other reason than he wanted to. Ah yes, a very normal brotherly relationship. (I’m going FERAL just thinking about it again!)

Truly I have not been normal about them since 2018, and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. I will keep repeating myself in posts like these until…either the whole world understands the brilliance of TO, or until I die. Whichever comes first.

so it was now.... a week and a half ago, and two separate coworkers came up to me like "I heard you did amazing in that interview" and i'm like "aw thanks! no one has said a fucking thing to me about it" and they're like "?????"

one of them, who was in the interview bc it was me and FIVE other ppl jfc, she was like "look i talked to [boss lady] and told her to keep you here, but i gave her a good excuse to give you a raise, bc she's crazy if she doesn't do SOMETHING for you at this point"

so i have like everyone i know at work on my side to get paid more one way or another, but have heard fucking nothing from my actual boss

until literally like 5 minutes before end of day on friday, she set a meeting with me, 9am on tuesday, for us to discuss my interview.

my hope is that she's going to give me a raise and keep me where i am, but failing that, give me the other position i apparently did an amazing interview for

and if not, then i gotta look for another job.

Heeeeeyyyy I’m still alive! Don’t worry, I’m still playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3 as well!

In fact, I finished chapter 6 almost a week ago.

The reason why it takes me so long to finish chapters is because I am enjoying all the side quests. The side quests are just so much fun. The stories are all so engaging and I rarely find myself button mashing the dialogue.

And my favourite aspect in ascension quests is when Kevesi heroes get to meet Agnian heroes, their interactions are very interesting!

To be honest, after I finish the game, I plan to write my thoughts on each hero in xenoblade chronicles 3. But we’ll see…

Now, I’ll be diving into spoiler territory! Keep in mind, it took me a long time to complete this so I may have forgotten some things!

SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 6 AND IT’S ENDING

Not gonna lie, starting off the chapter with Noah in the middle of nowhere with muffled noises is a great way to pull you into his psyche. But man, I was not expecting to get N’s backstory through Noah (I know, I’m dumb).

Unfortunately, I was spoiled over M and N having a baby through a YouTube video’s thumbnail and title that got recommended me while I was watching a thirst edit of one of my favourite anime villains so it wasn’t surprising to me.

What was surprising, however, WAS THAT THOSE TWO USED TO BE LOST NUMBERS??

Man, seeing N try again and again to save M from death was sad. Not to mention that scene with N telling his child that he has to go soon, hinting towards his homecoming.

The idea that he chose to become Moebius because he wanted this “endless” really made me feel for him. Unfortunately, not too much. Because the guy was way too obsessed.

I love that shot of him standing between two paths though…

Ok, now for the plot twist with Mio switching with M. On one hand, I feel cheated. It made me feel like all that build-up was worthless if it was going to be resolved almost immediately. On the other, I do quite like the way they brought her back. It ties in to the fact that M never wanted this. M was happy with N before Moebius. She was suffering so much but she chose to be quiet. N couldn’t see that. It just makes it more sadder because back in that cell, she said “my Noah”. That line was sweet but felt off to me back then cause I didn’t think Noah and Mio’s relationship got to THAT point. Well now it makes sense, it was M…

Rest in Peace M :(

N’s rage was brilliantly done. I love how obsessed and desperate he sounded the moment he realised what happened. But alas, I guess he was too blinded by rage to see why M betrayed him.

Noah finally having the courage to use Lucky Seven was amazing, the blade looks so cool.

Aight I’m just going to say it. WHO IS RIKU??? (Don’t spoil thanks)

I remember reading some comments saying that the nopon in the previous games were annoying rather than cute. I found that hard to believe because I ADORE the nopons in this game. They’re so adorable, especially Riku and Manana <3

It’s very interesting how Riku is this type of “mentor-figure” to Noah. Hope to see more but only one chapter remaining…

Now for the Queen of Agnus scene…

The location where she sleeps looks so beautiful and the theme was heavenly. It really makes you feel the weight of how far you’ve come and what you’re about to do.

And the scene when she finally wakes up… I’ll be honest, I never played xenoblade chronicles 2, just watched clips. But I LOVED Nia there, so seeing her here did make me smile. And the music that played while she was waking up, it sounded familiar to I decided to check. The Drifting Soul motif was brilliant.

AND THEN SHE GOT SHOT AND I WAS PISSED (she lived tho and we got to hear got to hear her be pissed over it till she realised ppl were watching her lol)

I’ll be honest, I was getting kind of annoyed with Joran’s “IM BETTER THAN ALL OF YOU NOW” attitude. He felt like an edgy kid to me despite his first reveal in Colony Lambda being pretty shocking.

But now, that’s all changed. The idea that once you become Moebius, you see all your past lives, must’ve been awful for him. Seeing that he was “useless” in his previous lives as well, makes his change in demeanour more sensible to me now.

Regardless, his friends never gave up on him. They really did know the real Joran. And he finally acknowledged that. I was genuinely proud of him over his decision despite it resulting in his death.

The emotional weight didn’t completely reach me till this scene. In a way, both Joran and Lanz got the closure they needed. I was happy that Joran’s final thoughts before his death was him with Noah, Lanz, and Eunie. All of them together, in their younger years. Not only does his death really make me feel that it’s the end of that era where children were met with expectations to win wars, but also how far those three have come.

It was like Joran saying goodbye to them, to the trio he once knew. They didn’t surpass him, I don’t think that’s the point. They simply changed. And his “maybe next time…” makes me feels like he is ready to as well. That’s just how I like to interpret it.

Overall, his redemption was amazing and was the highlight for this chapter to me.

That’s the end folks! I’ll see y’all in like….I don’t know….another month? I really am playing the game, almost every day actually! I’m just more keen on trying to find EVERY quest.

I do plan on finishing the game before Sonic Frontiers releases. So, definitely going to finish this game by the end of the month or early November.

I plan to write a full review of the game after I finish the main story. It’s been a while since my last proper review (which was omniscient reader).

I wanted to make a recording but I can hardly talk. So here it goes…

Last night I had a strange vision. I saw a rider sitting on a RED horse. And he was waiting. Waiting in some sort of location where there was a gate.

The horseman and the horse looked restless. The horse was so restless it began to take a bite out of what looked like a gutter at the side of a home. He bit a chunk of it out like he was eating a piece of pie 🥧 I don’t get what this means but this isn’t it.

When I looked closer I saw something was off about this rider. Its head was shaped abnormally. He appeared to have a wide brimmed hat on similar to Napoleons.

When I was allowed to see up closer, I saw this…

This rider was getting ready babes. This is one of the four horseman. One I had yet to ever see before

anyway genuinely want to write a massive analysis of the show at this point, bc the sheer volume of misdirected, misinformed, misguided ire and vitriol directed at the creators/artists behind the show is so fucking sad.

like beyond how i personally feel abt it, it's just fucking CRUEL to be saying that shit to their faces (online).

you can't take five minutes to pause and ask yourself "hm. why did they do that?" you just HAVE to go online and share the ~hot take~ that'll get you angry or likeminded interactions?

i'm even legitimately seeing ppl who, i believe, work in television, completely misunderstand elements of the show

and definitely part of it is that none of them went back and rewatched. bc if you watch everything through continuously, you can see EXACTLY how and when and where and why things were foreshadowed and choices were made and what happened.

but i'm SAD for everyone involved in the show--they fucking worked their asses off and produced something WONDERFUL that was consistent and tightly and brilliantly written.

and ppl are hung up abt like. 3-4 things and that's it, and they refuse to apply ANY critical thinking to those things.

and that sucks.

there ARE lots of complimentary things going around! not everyone missed the boat.

but for such a beloved show i'm really sad that ppl seem to have completely misunderstood this third season and the overall approach and intent of the show and how it concluded--

bc to spend that much time and loving energy on a show and have ppl misinterpret it THAT BADLY and not just do that in their own little corners, but then tHROW IT IN YOUR FACE? and to just be BLATANTLY WRONG abt some things? like not up to interpretation, you got details or meanings just Wrong. like you missed the point, and not bc it wasn't there in the show, but bc you missed it.

some squid game thoughts

as someone who is an avid kdrama watcher and absolutely loves the whole ppl with money making the lessers die for sport---i found squid game mid-tier af.

maybe i would feel differently if i hadn’t watched alice in borderland first, but whatever:

1. the series starts off amazing, we meet gihun who for all intents and purposes is a shit bag with a gambling addiction whose consistently poor choices keep catching up with him.

2. i guess he loves his daughter tho

3. i think it’s weird af that despite gihun’s obvious gambling addiction and incompetence as a father, his wife is low key framed as a heartless bitch for leaving him

4. GONG YOO’S CAMEO OMG the way this man can wear a fucking suit I SWEAR. he’s utterly captivating on screen, i literally couldn’t take my eyes off of him. 

5. i really loved the very first game we see gihun play as a sort of hazing into the squid game arena. it’s very telling of his state of mind how quick he was to keep playing (completely mindlessly) and how quickly he forgot about the cash reward (more focused on getting revenge). it was a GREAT scene

6. the loading, drugging, track suit distribution and red light, green light game was all dope af. really loved the use of color between the contestants, guards, and the setting. from the stark almost asylum-like nature of their “dorm room” to the candy colored and maze-like quality of the setting itself. 

7. the red light, green light game was hella iconic, i honestly dont think any other game comes close in comparison for me tho if i HAD to choose it would be tug of war. the little tightrope number that comes later was fun too.

8. at first i thought it was odd af that they were allowed to go home but it made for an interesting break to allow us to see just how desperate someone must be to enter the arena again

9. i’m sorry but i think it’s wild af how we’re lead to believe that gihun is entering the arena (again!) to save his mother when he literally leaves her for dead LOL. the reason why she wasn’t able to get medical attention is bc he kept gambling her money away. and instead of humbling himself to actually accept the money he asked his ex for on behalf of his mother, he lets his “pride” get in the way. pride in what, i can hardly imagine.

9. the gangster guy and the woman clearly there to be the residential psycho got annoying af to me REAL FAST. so incredibly one note, it was so obvious where their story was heading i rolled my eyes so hard during their sex scene. the only valid outcome would be if she slit his throat in the bathroom so i woudn’t have to suffer through that tired ass kdrama gangster archetype but ALAS that was not to be the case

10. it’s so weird how in one scene the guards dont condone fighting but in the next, just to allow the gangster guy free reign to randomly beat the shit out of ppl for profit. i feel like i need to re-watch to be sure but i swear the guards step in to breakup a fight prior so i was super confused but maybe i’m remembering it wrong.

11. HOW COULD I FORGET ALI?? i was pleasantly surprised to see migrant working representation in this show at all. and honestly ali is great. i will say tho there is a difference between being naive and being dumb and it seemed ali toed the line a little to often depending on how the writers needed him to be in order to further the plot

12. i DID NOT like how the random “crazy” woman went on a xenophobic rant against ali AND NOT A SINGLE PERSON STOOD UP FOR HIM despite the fact that he’d literally saved their lives multiple times by that point. i think it’s one thing to have a xenophobic character, a whole other thing to have the narrative SUPPORT said xenophobia through the silence of those that witness this behavior

13. same also goes for sang woo’s extremely sexist rant prior to the tug of war game. i thought FOR SURE the narrative was going to check him (like he really did take it too far) but NOOOOOOO the narrative doubles down on it by making it a game of brute strength. while in the end it was strategy that helps them win, the female characters still remain largely invisible in this game having been labeled “useless” by their male counterparts. all the clutch moments come from ali, the old man, sang woo, and gihun.

14. it’s weird in general the lack of female characters and the mediocre writing they all receive but i was really excited by seobyeok. she seems like a lead, especially given the fact that she’s the only female character we get any real backstory on. but for the most part she’s a background character. present when the plot needs her, rarely contributing to strategy. VERY resourceful (yay!!) but the second she’s no longer needed she gets randomly injured and unceremoniously murdered just to further the rage (and plot!) of her male counterparts. yikes!

15. omg i love the organ selling side plot LOL. i’m sad it ended as soon as it did. made me wish we got more perspectives from the guards given how many of them there were. 

16. how did the cop dude not die? he was so sloppy with his investigation after a while it was silly they couldnt catch him despite the eleventy million cameras in the facility. i also low key didn’t care about his story once the organ selling plot ended. i completely forgot he was looking for his brother LOL

17. i hated the marble game wow. with the fire of 1000 suns wow. i think this was the episode where squid game lost me a little. the plot armor around the gangster guy was ridiculous, he should’ve met his hubris in that game instead of subjecting us to more of his predictable ass behavior.

18. seobyeok’s scene was the only one worth my heart in the marble game. i’m sad they literally brought the other girl in for one game just to die in the next, she was so great i would’ve love to see seobyeok develop a stronger friendship with her even if she died later. sheesh! 456 contestants and only 3 women with speaking lines??? ridiculous. 

18. and idc what anybody says, sang woo’s “plan” in the marble game was such an obvious lie. it literally made no fucking sense. ali “falling” for it made him look stupid af and i’m mad he went out being made a fool of like that. i’d forgive it more if sang woo’s “plan” was even remotely believable. like damn, fool me too! but ali just ends up looking like an idiot, running around like a chicken with its head cut off as if all common sense left him when you can CLEARLY SEE IN EACH PAIR THAT ONE PERSON IS CONSISTENTLY DYING. like come tf on!

16. the moment the VIP’s open their mouths to speak is when squid game goes from intense to straight up camp. it’s just silly and incredibly difficult for me to take the games seriously from that point on. the dialogue and acting is just awful. 

17. this show had ZERO queer representation until they needed one of the VIPs to be predatory LMAO. like wow, talk about poor fucking taste

18. the actor who plays the cop is just BAD lololol. like what in the 2 facial expressions nonsense?? shoulda kept the mask on

19. the tight rope game was cool but dragged on a little too long for me. i think it’s bc the VIPs fucking suck LOL. i was REALLY looking for gangster dude to finally be revealed as a spineless fuck but NOOOOOO more bullying and intimidation. honestly so pathetic. 

20. gangster dude deserved to die due to his own failures IMO but NOOOOOO. i swear the “crazy” woman lasted as long as she did just so she could say his dick was small and some rando VIP could utter “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”. i’m sorry i rolled my eyes so hard at that scene, doesn’t she have a newborn baby?? LOLOLOL like what a pathetic way to die, sorry.

21. FRONTMAN IS LEE BYUNG HYUN??? LMAOOOOO!!! i mean what in the cameo?? it was impossible for me to see him as frontman after that “luke i am your father” moment. and the irony of byung hyun playing role is just extra rich given that he was literally blackmailed in a similar squid game story IRL. and where is she now? and where is he now? hmmmmm

22. and again i have to express my rage. seobyeok randomly getting injured by the blown up glass (literally WHY??) just to struggle eat and bleed out LMAO. and then be “mercy killed” by sang woo’s stank ass JUST to give gihun the motivation he’d need to kill sang woo?? fucking foul. the ONLY COMPETENT FEMALE CHARACTER and they couldn’t even do her the dignity of going out through a game. they literally kill her to further the plot of her male counterparts. awful

23. i mean by the time the final game comes, ngl squid game completely lost me as an audience. i just didn’t care anymore. and like who am i supposed to be rooting for anyway? the asshole sang woo who's in debt bc of a blue collar crime? or the asshole gihun who’s in debut due to a gambling addiction that literally left his own mother unable to financially take care of her sickness?

24. HOW exactly are either of them suffering at the hands of capitalism again?

25. i was so happy when the fight ended and gihun was finally ended up the victor, not bc i wanted him to win i was just tired of the psuedo-moralism he randomly developed at the very end. like give this man his money and wrap this shit up.

26. j/k he comes back home to a mother he left to die and then wallows in misery for a year even tho he promised sang woo and seobyeok (also why ali’s wife and child wasn’t important enough to include on this list is very telling but whatever) that he’d take care of their families, he becomes a drunk instead.

27. like i WANT to feel sorry for gihun bc trauma but i literally do not care. like the ONE TIME he should actually be putting others before himself and he STILL can’t do it

28. oh but look a squid game card! THAT’s what spurns him to action. not atoning for the lives lost but the concept of getting revenge...for a game...that he actively participated in...knowing that they’d kill contestants indiscriminately LOL. like i literally cant. i get why he’s angry but here he is with a second shot at life and it’s like the only change in his character is MORE TRAUMA™

29. i feel bad for seobyeok’s little brother most of all. sitting there thinking his sister abandoned him FOR A YEAR poor thing

30. i felt the scene with the old man was unnecessary and went on for too long. but then again at that point i’d lost complete interest in the show so LOL

31. i mean honestly gihun gambling AGAIN with someone’s life just to prove the old man wrong LOL. i thought he felt guilty? i thought he was traumatized? why do the writers keep trying to frame him as heroic when he’ll throw everything away to gamble EVERY. TIME.?????

32. so one midlife crises dye job later and gihun is so desperate to not be a father that he enters squid game again. for revenge or whatever LOL

like i found squid game wildly entertaining overall but the ending but absolute trash. and i just dont care enough about gihun to want more story from him, he really should’ve gotten on the plane.

i also find it interesting that ppl saw the show as a critique on capitalism when really i felt like it doubled down on it. but maybe that’s just me idk. regardless, i’m happy for the show’s success. better squid game at number one than fucking bridgerton LMAO.

Fruits Basket, Se03. ep 6.(Part 1)

The main female protagonist who, has been the “mother /psychiatrist/ fixer/curse-breaker” for 57 eps & 2 seasons, has finally had her own “I’m a real person with my own issues” ep !!!! YESS! So happy!!! also, so underwhelmed. Tohru has been painted to be this utterly selfless & altruistic character for long, that when she’s finally a balanced character it’s presented in half an episode? Don’t get me wrong, I like the ep, but there’s also the same feeling of bullet train that I felt in momiji’s ep! ugh!! I hated that feeling! Go away~ oh well.. I’ll quickly state what I didn’t like, before jumping into what I liked, in order to end with a happier note~

What I didn’t like:

Tohru’s monologue after leaving shigure & Isuzu felt more like a background exposition more than a true character’s thoughts. The reason is that It is quickly narrated with quick flashbacks from the past with intentional pieces missing from the flashback. Pieces like” how did Kyoko hurt tohru? She said to kyo, in se02, ep “ I feel like I’ve only caused her sadness” &  tohru’s flashbacks in se02 of her mother leaving/ closing a door. All these things not included in tohru’s 1st ever personal monologue made it seem like quick fill in for the audience more than tohru’s main struggle. Compare it to Yuki’s 3 ep monologue in se02, filled with all his own background info, hence, we as audience sit back & just feel. With tohru a little brain work is needed of putting things together in the puzzle is needed because NOTHING abt her trauma has ever been explained to us prior to her monologue . Also, compare this kyo. A character who ONLY have 2 eps dedicated to him in 57 eps, yet even without monologues & with hidden secrets for climax purposes, his emotions are clear cuz his background was explained early in se01, ep24 & se02, ep9. Compared to them both, her monologue felt a bit lacking.

What’s up with the following scene? Her crying & kyo comforting her mid-street. He saw her crying, asked what’s wrong & she couldn’t say & he gave her a comforting advice. All good. Kyo always give the most needed advice for tohru to be herself & feel comforted. Se01, “complain more, be selfish” Se02, somen table scene & asking her abt her future plans & the hiro incident. Kyo has tried to guess whats wrong first. Here he saw her cry in the middle of the street & just gave her an advice? couldn’t he at least guess wrongly if it is her granpa? school? anything? This scene is AMAZING but it feels off a little.

Kyo’s “ now I remember” EXCUSE ME?????? se01, ep14, valentine ep, he got a nightmare, then when shigure talked to him, we saw a quick flashback that we didn’t now what it is but now it IS kyoko. se02, the entirety of ep9 & the “ I won’t forgive you” & the flashback of young him with kyoko talking abt tohru. se02, ep 22 his fight with yuki & the clear face of kyoko telling him abt something regarding the hat. His entire shutdown of tohru IS abt kyoko NOT abt him being a monster cuz tohru accepted monster kyo in se01 ep 24! so.. REMEMBER WHAT????? the accident?? I feel like being hit with a rock. I mean, it makes sense that kyo will get PTSD after seeing the hat, cuz he remembers the bloody accident vividly. But it is the dialogue that IS weird. “ I remember” ?? it makes no sense? unless it is another hidden secret & will be revealed later. If so, then forget this point.

Kagura (more on her below). Now, let’s talk abt what I liked!

-Grief (the most difficult theme to express in literature): Excellent writing!

Grief is one of the most diverse human emotions. ppl who grief a loved one either erase everything abt them in order to cope with the pain of loss & live on, or drastically engrave everything, not want any memory to slip away, or hold the deceased on a pedestal, or hate them irrationally in order to forget abt them, some deny that the loved one is gone, others talk to them daily, some act & live normally for years & suddenly it hits them that this loved person is truly gone & they breakdown. Others, direct their disbelief of losing a precious one into the envy that other bad ppl are still living, why my precious one is dead?. Thats why, it is a difficulty emotion to understand by others. Ppl watching you will always think that comforting you is enough & that the longer you take, the more impatient they are with you. Tell me, watching tohru this ep, didn’t you feel that:

Come on. tohru, you can love your mom & kyo! who says only ONE person can be your precious?

Umm, why she cries for her mom NOW? 2 years after her death? Is she over it already?

Tohru~~ your mom aint going no where cuz you loved a guy? she’s in your heart, girl. Ugh!

Compared to yuki who was abused by his parents & kyo whose mom commit suicide in front of him, tohru’s trauma is meh~

Feeling this way abt tohru is exactly how many feel abt ppl struggling with grief. You are NOT a bad person if you felt this way. It means that thankfully you weren’t struck by grief to tohru’s extent or that your grief went about differently than tohru. Grief is a crippling feeling. It is valid, strong, overwhelming, paralyzing & above all very unique to the person themselves. Tohru feeling that her mom is slipping away from her memory is so realistic & utterly heartbreaking. Grief hurts & moving on from grief hurts more!!!! The more you go on & live your life, the more you feel like you betray your loved one.

Tohru’s entire existence is for her mother & so her mother LIVES inside her:

Finishing high school cuz it’s her mother’s request.

Getting a job to sustain herself cuz she has no one to support her financially.

Giving her mom’s wisdom & teachings abt life to others.

imitating her dad’s speaking style to prevent her mom from “leaving”.

Being the perfect girl in order to portray that her mom, who is a gangster & is hinted by the ugly relatives to be unfaithful to her husband due to tohru not taking after her dad, actually raised a respectful girl!

Talking to a dead cold lifeless picture as if it is a living human being & going into panic attacks when she looses such pictures.

Suppressing all her true “ ugly, negative” emotions & only giving the fake smiles & positive attitude.

She fears that ppl will leave her if she isn’t “comforting, happy”, hence, the whole facade of “ i’m okay, I’m okay”.

Immersing her self in ppl’s issues so she won’t face her own feelings of utter loneliness, fear of the future, & being left behind when everybody moves on with their lives.

Thinking that having selfish desires contradicts the “ hopeful, kind” girl images, hence, the fear to actually wants sth for herself. Everything HAS TO BE for the sake of the others.

Tohru is deeply traumatized & her complex, unhealthy but extremely realistic attachment to her mom must be broken. Tohru must learn to LET GO.

-Kagura’s character’s assassination. aka (violence heals y’all!)

The show wanted to express the emotion that kagura is still in love with kyo, but is learning to let go & accepting kyo/tohru love. I love that. Her speech with kazuma abt not being able to face tohru cuz her face will show her emotions is so relatable & it hit ME personally. Loved that. Then, she learns that tohru truly loves kyo & should confess to him not talk to Isuzu & I get that, it make sense that she lashes on thru & teach her the value of being open abt your feelings & dont loose him. all cool & understandable. BUT:

How dare you slap tohru like that? you don’t know what she’s going through? tohru is wearing funeral clothes for God’s sake! she just visited her dead mom, you insensitive woman! How dare you assume that all tohru is struggling with is love love, romance romance yay~ confess, kiss, be happy?

Tohru & kyo’s issues are deeper than typical, normal, shallow shojo love. It is related to child trauma & abuse. To their own individual identity & self-image! Their romantic love is meant to guide them towards better choices for the future, not magically heal everything. Their mutual love is NOT the answer to their issues.

How dare you slap someone to make them go back to their senses? this is such an anime move! ugh!~ it cheapens the emotional weight of character’s emotions.

“ I’m not apologizing to tohru. We communicate thro fists” excuse me?  you arent even communicating with kyo thro fists! he sees you & run! the only time he thanked you for, was when you didn’t “ communicate thro fists” & played with him as a child! Not only make her hit tohru but not apologize??

I hate how this went by in half an ep like they did with machi!! tohru is THE main character for God’s sake! But it looks like the show is not so fond of the true tohru who wants stuff & screams & talks to herself, alas she isn’t the angelic, innocent girl that is saturating the heck out of all shojo amines. Oh well~ perhaps tohru’s issues will be visited again in the finale?

Kyo gets PTSD reaction in front of tohru. great. Now what’s next? I won’t ever forgive the anime if next ep, kyo & tohru are all normal or worse the episodic theme prevents the continuation & jumps elsewhere. Nearly all the eps that didn’t end with a happy note, started the next ep somewhere & totally forgot the cliff hanger. such as, Isuzu’s ep in se02, it ended with tohru’s nightmare & next ep started yuki’s issues with tohru all smiley & bright. Another example, the Cinderella play ended with kyo/tohru torn symbolism where each is awkward with the other, next ep machi !!!!!! & kyo/ tohru all normal in kazuma’s house. But this time, it will be an epic mistake to do the same. Kyo going full traumatic in front of tohru to the point of her screaming is not sth you skip & start over erasing. Don’t disappoint me show! you can’t screw that, can you?

I love the symbolism of kyoko disappearing from the picture & the crack of her framed pic at the end with it still continued in he ED. Good job.

They are building for a hug clashing scene between kyo & tohtu. it must hurt. It is designed to hurt. I wanted it to hurt. It is not abt romance. It is abt mental & emotional trauma. I’m excited. But I’m scared. After today’s ep, I can confidently say I don’t trust the director. I’m an anime-only, but tohru’s part in the story is the least touched upon, the quickest to get over with & has the wackiest animation. They just don’t know how to depict an emotional tohru~ sigh~

Tohru is written to be a unique protagonist in the sea of innocent, selfless & always happy shojo heroine & opposed to the badass, physically strong female protag in shonen. She is the most realistic, but so much of her potential is wasted so far~~

“ saving the sohma’s. breaking the curse for others is a lie, in reality I wanted to do it for kyo” This line is supposed to be liberating for tohru cuz for once she is putting herself FIRST! It is not abt kyo. It is abt herself! it is cuz SHE wants him. See the difference? See how this line gives tohru the biggest character development!! but still sth is missing. I duno..

I have lots to say abt tohru, kyo, shigure, the grandpa, kyoko, Isuzu & even kazuma! I’ll do that in part 2.

I still liked the ep tho. It is solid. I”ll like it MORE if they continued from here & didn’t cut it cold.

I have 2 questions if you don't mind, what is one of your favourite moments of one piece? And what do you think about how the current arc is going?

anon i can't just choose one scene. theyre so many good ones. so many.

but hmmmmm - i think the scene that i come back to read the most time and time again though, is sogeking, shoot down that flag. ennies lobby is my favorite arc, no question despite how little i write about it, because its just so good. before this scene you have all this fun build up - zoro just slicing a hole to get to the roof, everyone flying over the fence in rocketman after a perfectly good plan, seeing the galley-la ppl and the franky family in action for the first time, the straw hats just fucking around and charging forth, luffy decimating bluenoe - but then -

then you get to the rooftop. then you have the straw hats, no longer backed by allies, standing alone and looking up. there is a man, a coward, screaming foolishness, bragging, next to the world's deadliest assassins, all standing under the flag. it's terrifying. its formidable. it looks hopeless. but the strawhats don't see any of that - the entire time, they look at robin. robin, who smiled with them. robin, who went on adventures with them. robin, their friend. their crewmate.

and the straw hats are looking up, but it suddenly doesn't seem like an ant against a giant anymore. suddenly, luffy says sogeking, shoot down that flag, and the world is burning because it dared to take a friend away. it's defiance and determination and rebellion for the sake of one person. its the realization that luffy is the man who will be king of the pirates and there is nothing that can get in his way. it makes me smile just thinking about it holy shit. i love this scene so much.

(another scene would be whitebeard's last words - the one piece is real! that quote sticks with me everyday.)

as for wano - under the cut! spoilers (up until 1018 as i do not read unofficial releases because im too lazy to track them down)

i like it so far!!! i kinda wish the story would narrow in a bit, but i think that will be the plan post wano - because at least one of the emperor's will be defeated, the samurai will be gone, and at least kidd or law will be leaving so it will back to straw hats and their allies of the arc which i'd prefer. though again, my dislike of the wideneinng of the story may just be because this is the first big battle arc im going through as im caught up with one piece?? i haven't been through a big arc finale that i could read all at once before, and i think thats what's tripping me up. one piece is a series thats better read as a whole than chap by chap after all.

otherwise - i adore yamato, love black maria, and ever word that comes out of Luffy's mouth is rocking my entire world, like YES KING OF THE PIRATES <3 i love the direction oda is taking law's character, love whats going on with zeus, but i do hope tama and luffy get a bit more closure?? i guess?? somewhat disappointed with the luffy is ace's brother reveal but alas.

i do think we are coming to the end of the arc however, or at least the big battle portions in that everyone's gonna be making their final attacks soon!! im really excited for the dub to catch up to wano because holy shit is the animation amazing.

so - guess overall opinnion - pretty content, and in need of a reread!

I'm back yet again. For Reed; we know that he is bitter about his feelings for MC, and this whole time he thought they already knew and were avoiding it. So he was really going to live like that forever?

Clearly he snapped and didn't plan to admit it, but he must have had some hope before that because you've said that he doesn't really *date* people in the route where he's in love with MC. What did he think was going to happen after he finally did confess?

I'm infatuated with the "pining for MC best friend, never loved anyone else" trope. It feels so pure and (in my case) ALWAYS reciprocated, so there isn't a heartbreak ending. You write the inner monolog so well, it's satisfying to read and really feel those feelings. Soup for the soul. But I know there is yet angst to come. 😚

Yup. He thought (hoped) he’ll get over it lol. He was never going to confess; he knew it’d fck their friendship up and it would be his fault. He doesn’t date other ppl seriously because a)he knows that trying to ‘replace’ MC won’t erase his feelings for them and b)his closest friends not so long ago tried to set him up to be killed/arrested, so he has trust issues, and I mean, who wouldn’t?

Well, pining is an amazing trope 10/10 would recommend, but Reed is not much of a pure character. I suppose if he was never betrayed everything would be different, but alas. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

That said, the confession didn’t have to happen either. When I write the demo (the VN I mean) I always settle for one or two scenarios, but in the IF there will be more options to resolve (or not) a scene. So in that situation, say, if the MC decided to just stay with Reed in the kitchen (not mentioning sharing a bed), he’d eventually calm down and everything would be fine and well again. They’d talk about his brother, about Marco etc, and there will be no breaking point for Reed (in this scene ofc).
