A quickie to let you guys know that I am still alive (and almost not sick anymore yay!)

I am happy to announce that chapter 4 of FMO is officially done, out and about, on patreon, as well as the beginning of chapter 5. That means there’s only one chap (plus epilogues) to go!!!  

As for Avulsion, 2 out of 3 branches (about 20k words each) of chapter 3 are done, and I’m currently working on the last branch (also 20k). Next time I add that many variables into a game, please whack me on my empty head, it won’t hurt, but maybe it’ll help.

Apple soon charging 30% on Patreon subscriptions through iOS

This is the email Patreon creators woke up to today. Patreon is asking us to either raise our prices on the iOS app so that Apple can slurp up 30% of the subscription price, or we can keep our prices as they are and have that 30% come out of our own earnings. Either way, this fee is hidden from potential subscribers so they don't know they're paying 30% to Apple when they could be avoiding that by subscribing on Patreon's website as opposed to the app.

I find this to be a disgusting cash grab on the part of Apple because if they felt like their fees were fair then they would simply tack it on themselves at the point of checkout, not baking it into the prices of creators who had no say in this to make it look like we were the ones asking for more. If you find yourself wondering "Why are Patreon creators all raising their prices?" this is why. Please avoid transactions through iOS apps.

What if during ROs love confessions to MC, MC just sort of greyrocked them? Like 'Mmhh...anyways-' and went back to talking to whatever they were before? And later it turns out that MC thought they were being mean-spirited and asking them out as a joke, which is why they reacted like that? Maybe MC just has been burnt like this in the past many times 🤷‍♀️

Jewel would take it as a rejection and would never bring it up again, even if she had an inkling that MC didn’t mean it. She’d think about it all the time, though, entertaining all the reasons as to why MC did what they did

Reed, since they know each other like forever, would know if MC had a situation like this in the past, but he’s also stupid when his feelings are concerned so he’d take it as a ‘no,’ too, and he’d be glad to see MC is acting normal afterward, bc at least they can return to the status quo and act like they did before (he also thinks MC already knows he’s into them, so nothing much would change)

Laurent would be so confused, but he’d assume he misunderstood something and his confession must have inconvenienced MC in some way, so he’d keep it to himself from there on out

Nino would ignore & avoid MC afterwards, bc it’d cost her a LOT to be/act vulnerable, and if MC just brushed it off, she’d be super ashamed and super gutted

Flavio’d be like ‘fair enough,’ bc he knowssss it’s a stupid idea to confess so just it serves him right for taking the plunge

Alan, kinda depends on the confession and circumstances, bc he could be just pikatchu face and try again, or he’d be hurt like Nino, and react similarly to her

So, I have a kinda weird question, you see, I have a lot of plants and I started naming them after your characters for shits and giggles (like, Nino is a cute cactus and Reed’s leaves have a reddish tone, heh). The thing is that I’ve run out of names so I wanted to ask if you could suggest me other names so they all have the same ~vibe~. Love u!!

Hi Rook! I had a question about Perfumare: Avulsion - when you choose whether you'll go with Jewel, Reed or Laurent, do you lock in your romance/route in the way you do in the VN, or can you still for example leave with Laurent and then later romance Jewel or Reed? <: Curious because of the flirt options on the patreon demo, so I'm assuming this differs from the VN but wanted to ask just to be sure.

Hi! It doesn’t lock you at all, on the contrary, there are unique romance options if you go with a different RO.

The next chapter (club scene) will be like that, too, you’ll be able to take let’s say Laurent with you, as a friend, but romance Jewel etc. And just because you leave with i.e. Laurent doesn’t mean you have to take him with you to the club in the next scene, there will be an option to pick your branch again until like where the VN ends.

And there will be options to lock yourself out of the romance too, they will be marked with an icon.

Hi Rook! Would you kindly share with us from where you take inspirations for the stories you write? And which LI in each game would you personally romance and why?

Hi! I sure can. So for me, it’s like either I get a random thought in the middle of the night and then spend like 3 hours writing it out in my phone’s notes, or it’s smth I see that gives me an idea, usually just as random. I often have loose scenes that I write the plot around, like in FMO, the first scene of chapter 1, and the last one of chapter 3. 

As for the LIs I am not really attracted to my own characters, maybe because I know them too much, and it’s just not that exciting to think about them in that context, but if I had to pick it’d be either Laurent or Mirren, bc I like the prim and proper type best.
