funniest canon compliant warrior cat name you can think of
The obvious answer to this one is 'Garfield' but a friend once hit me with 'Blazeweed' and I haven't known peace since

One thing I'm super curious about is if there would be a difference in validity between cat names in the UK (where the books take place) and cat names in America. As a small example, heather only grows naturally in Europe and Asia Minor, which has me inclined to believe Clan cats in America would not use heather as a prefix.
So, validwarriorcatsnames and followers, would there be differences in names based on location?
(on this topic, I live somewhere where sagebrush is super common, is Sagebrush a valid Warrior name?)
Yes, there would. When you're thinking of names for a fan clan in a given location, it's good to keep in mind what's actually IN that biome-- cats in a forest in northern Europe are unlikely to be familiar with alligators, desert dwellers probably don't know about swans, etc.
I will also add that despite the Forest territories being based on a real location in England, the authors have made a point to include wildlife from both North America and Europe just so nothing would ever be easy

Hey. Semi-Serious post here. I'm gonna be quite frank, this is about the death of a real animal. My animal.
The one I made the dedication of WCR!Into The Wild for. Because the wounds are still so raw that I can barely get through typing this very sentence without feeling choked up. So... If this post isn't for you, enjoy the first cat picture, the rest will be under the cut.
Tumblr media
Meet Cleo.
Tumblr media
She was my best friend. I moved into her home when I was a child, and her being there got me through the ensuing abusive situation I'd found myself in. I quickly became her favorite person. She was always there for me, and I was always there for her. I read Warriors books to her.
I met someone online that I fell in love with, and planned to have them move here. I worried about Cleo, who was now getting on in her years, but still healthy and strong.
I was granted full, effective ownership of her, since she was never really registered with a breeder. An oopsie, runt of the litter kitten of a genuine bred Maine Coon, unknown father.
Tumblr media
Plan fell through, immigrating to Canada is difficult and the economy was about to fall apart. So I made the choice to move to the UK.
I was then informed that I could not take Cleo with me, they said she was too old, and that the plane ride would be too much for her. She was roughly 14/15 years old and, again, healthy. This next part is hard to write.
I spent every day after that, for a year, spending as much time as she wanted with me. She got every cuddle and snuggle she wanted.
I still remember that last time I ever saw her, the night I left the country. I held her like a baby, because she liked that. I remember what the back of her neck smelled like (warm chocolate). I rubbed her belly, and whispered to her that I loved her, and promised to come back again and see her. Then I placed her on her favorite spot on the back of the chair, and left.
I got regular updates from my mom about her, but something was clear. When I was on the phone, I was not to call out to her, because when I did, it made her search the whole house, meowing and calling out for me, looking for me. The dogs never did that, just Cleo.
4 months away from home, she started peeing in... Odd places. Visible places. Like... Middle of the living room and on bathroom rug.
Mind you, she used to do that in front of her litter box as a protest when it wasn't clean enough for her liking. But... Not like that.
Other than that, normal behavior.
Then, about 6 months in, she started being weird with food. Still demanded it, of course, but... Wouldn't eat it. Mind you, there were times when she really was just happy to have the wet food there... And then go off and eat her kibble as if she hadn't just acted like she would die without her wet food. Typical, right?
Tumblr media
After a week straight, and not much kibble eaten, it... Was concerning. I offered my mom to cover the cost of any medical bills she would need, but was told to not be 'ridiculous', that she was too old. That she didn't need a vet, that nothing would help.
7 months in. July 7th, 2023. Ordinary day, kinda fun, sunny out, a relaxing day where I wasn't looking at my phone much. My partner gets a text from my mom asking if I am around. I get a call from my mom.
She hadn't eaten in days. She wasn't in her box anymore. She was barely drinking. All her chub was gone, leaving my poor girl at only 5 pounds. A fraction of her weight.
My mom was not calling me to say goodbye. Goodbye had already been said. And I wasn't there.
I asked if my mom could bury her, so at the very least I could have something to visit when I got home.
To get Cleo's body back, it would have cost 200 dollars. She would be cremated, and her ashes not given back either. Gone.
The older woman next to me later said she had never, in all her years, heard a person wail and scream the way I had. I barely remember it, or anything after that. The grief is so bad that I feel chest pains, and my throat will close, I could cry myself hoarse still, just from thinking about her.
On one hand I don't want to feel this way anymore. On the other I feel horrific guilt about that, about wanting to "move on". I hate that term, it needs something new. Moving on isn't forgetting about them, it just means it doesn't hurt as badly anymore, but... What does THAT mean?
Below is the very last picture I have of her.
Tumblr media
I'm sorry, Cleo. I'm sorry I couldn't help you. I sorry I wasn't there for you. I'm sorry I broke my promise. And I'm sorry I wasn't there to say goodbye.
I'll never forget you. I'll never love you any less.
It'll be hard to visit home without you in it.
If you read this post, thanks for listening. I'm really struggling with grief processing, even though it's been almost a year. 208 days as of today. She isn't the first I've lost, she won't be the last, but WCR is partially dedicated to her.
I hope you like the pictures of her, knowing how vain she was I'm sure she would enjoy me showing them off.
Bye guys.

Sorry if you’ve already answered something like this! how does Warrior Bites work into the initial journey in TNP? I don’t recall how long the journey to the sun drown place took, but I feel like with how cooked food is preferable due to diseases and parasites, did Bramble and co have to get dewormed when returning to the clans? Or perhaps the Tribe could help them with that on their way back, as a thanks for how they help drive out Sharptooth?
I feel like it’d be difficult to sneak out with extra rations with how the Clans were struggling, plus it’d be difficult to carry all the tools required to cook every time they set up camp. It’d be easier for them to eat their prey raw, at least during certain parts of the journey.
Would also be an interesting opportunity to introduce the cast to different foods, too! Rogue groups in twolegplace using vegetables from gardens for flavor, for example. I couldn’t find if there’s salt beds in English mountains, but if there is the Tribe would have way easier access to it than the Clans do. I bet they’d have wildly different cuisine as a result.
Sorry for the long winded ask but your ideas tickle my autistic brain just right fjahfhsh
The Tribe mountain MUST have salt under it, right? The Appalachians and the Caledonians are the same mountain range split up by tectonic shift and I know there's salt in the Appalachians because it's, like, pre-life-on-earth old right? Hangon
*le googel*
YEP there's a lot of salt in Cheshire, one of the counties I use as a model. Which I could have just learned by googling "uk salt mine." However, my brain is a rube goldberg machine.
The Sundrown Patrol DEFINITELY needed a deep cleaning! They would be full of fleas, probably be carrying a couple of bad knots or a couple of mats, and one or two of them definitely caught worms. Probably Squirrelpaw tbh, knowing her impatient little butt (affectionate).
The Tribe wouldn't do a deep deworming though, because that takes time and the Clan cats would want to get home as quickly as possible. They just stayed for the quick celebration to gather some rations and planned to leave... but then the appearance of Sharptooth changed their plans.
(btw if you wanna see how the Sundrown Patrol's Journey to the Lake goes in Bonefall TNP, I made a map and a synopsis!)
Setting up a basic cooking fire wouldn't be TOO hard though! You just keep a couple of sticks to use as spits and roast your prey over the open fire, like either a roast or a marshmallow. Beats dealing with tapeworms for the whole trip.
Funny enough I actually think it's Crowfoot/feather who's the main cook of the little patrol, I keep feeling like Mudclaw was a pretty good chef. He would have passed that onto Crow.
Tawnypelt: "It's almost sunrise, Crowfoot is late... if he doesn't come soon we'll have to go without him."
Crowfoot: "Hold your hedgehogs I'm here. I was making tunnelbuns for the trip."
Squirrelpaw: "Where- what-- how did you do that so fast??"
Crowfoot: "youre weeeeeeeeelcome."
Stormfur: "Hang on, you didn't steal from your own Clan in famine, did you?"
Crowfoot: "??? I mashed my personal larvae stash to make into travel rations and this is the thanks I get??? you think my clanmates were gonna keep my mealworms alive while I was gone?? Mousebrain!"
Brambleclaw: "Yuck, who wants to eat mashed bugs?"
Squirrelpaw hiding how appetizing it sounds because her buddy Sorreltail opened her eyes to how good grasshoppers can taste.

moonface and whitetooth, my warrior cat OCs for my little warrior cat world
rambling under the cut
MOONFACE: a medicine cat whose predictions are extremely specific, extremely mundane, and extremely accurate. She carries lavender in her fur, mostly for the nice smell of it. Pretty ditzy, not too attached to the warrior code…she‘s more interested in romance. She has a thing for tall, strong she cats. Will definitely use her status to get time with her crush, asking them to escort her to pick herbs and such. Her clan is.....something. The world I have in mind for her and the rest of them is similar to Warrior cats but more dystopian, and takes place in Florida rather than the UK. The clans in the area were almost driven to extinction by fighting each other, until one day they came up with an idea to settle their arguments not through clan wide battles, but a tournament system where each clan picks a champion to fight at their gatherings. The fights are brutal and often to the death since neither cat wants to be responsible for their clan losing whatever is on the line. The champion of Moonface's clan (I've been calling them MangroveClan but I think that's kinda long so idk) is her girlfriend Whitetooth, who I'll introduce soon but know these three things...she has the trauma levels of a circus elephant, their clan leader is using this to manipulate her, and she's an undefeated and truly brutal champion fighter. Moonface loves her more than life itself and definitely more than her clan.
WHITETOOTH: Very well balanced cat whose mother left them to die in a snare trap as a kid. She never really recovered from that but were found by Moonface's mentor and brought back to the clan, where she recovered against the odds and became a truly terrifying and brutal warrior. The rest of the clan actually like her (and fear her) a lot because she destroys anyone who challenges them. She's having her trauma manipulated by the clan leader on that front, who always assigns her to border patrols and front line in every battle. But she truly loves Moonface and Moonface really loves her, and in her mind that's all that really matters. She doesn't really care about any of the other clan members despite being willing to kill to protect them. They keep their distance from her because she's always covered in blood and sticks and stuff, but Moonface has seen way worse.

Greetings! My name is Autumn (they/them). You may recognize me from @hickorytwist or @taxiedermist, or even the WCRP Ever Rain. I am an artist and writer who has been into Warriors for a very long time. Here is where you will find my passion project, a rewrite of the series known as “Where The Wild Cats Roam”!
The whole thing is still very much a work in progress, and I’m not sure if it will ever be “finished”, but here’s some things to expect:
- new lore, clan cultures, legends, religions, etc.
- overhauled characters and arcs, including some that are brand new
- main themes: community, culture, challenging status quo in an unjust society, and breaking the cycle— of abuse, bigotry, war, etc.
- a story that takes place entirely in the UK— from England to Wales to Scotland
- some fantasy elements inspired by Celtic mythos
- slightly more advanced cat society with interactions from other species
- influence from other Rewrite projects (that will be credited where possible!)
- potential written prose and reimagined character designs
The ask box is always open unless stated otherwise. Questions are highly encouraged! <3

Round 1 Side A Poll 7
Tumblr media
Larry the cat
"He has been the shining light in UK politics for the last 10 years. I say that is a sign that he is, indeed, the once and future king returned to England in its time of need."
"He has been at downing street longer than every 2022 Prime Minister and the current King put together so why not?"
Firestar
"random kid who shows up and is prophesized to save everyone and become leader"
"Warrior Cats is already a series that canonically takes place in the British countryside, according to the authors. Firestar is a leader of a clan, he has quite a few older characters that could fill out the Merlin role(Bluestar, Yellowfang, Whitestorm, etc.), while he doesn't necessarily own a sword but the religion of the Clans granted him the ability to have access to multiple lives if he just so happened to die on accident!"

A busy month for your boy!
Good evening!
I've of course been pretty quiet the last month - as I said in my last email, I expected to go pretty quiet as I went through the moving process, and I have now left Ireland and moved back to the UK.
I'm currently Jean-Ralphio voice ~technically homeless~ as I get all my ducks in a row with my apartment paperwork and move through the conveyancing process, but once the keys are in my hand, I'll be writing about and doing TikToks of the decorating process as I go!
Obviously because I'm currently going between friends and family and juggling paperwork, I'm not writing as much at the moment, as I predicted I would be, but I will be making an appearance at BristolCon next month!
BristolCon is a 1-day literary sci-fi and fantasy convention in Bristol City, this year on Saturday October 21st - there are panels and discussions, readings and signings, a marketplace, and so forth.
As well as taking part in some of the panels and maybe reading from my own work, I'll be selling copies of Heart of Stone and Gerald Poole and the Pirates, as well as a bunch of my badges, and of course I'll be able to sign anything you bring along, whether it's a book you buy from me on the day or a copy you bring with you! I'll be able to take payment in cash or by card on the day!
Can't make the convention but have questions about my work, my characters, or my writing process? Send them with the heading [For BristonCon] anonymously to my Tumblr askbox or to my email at contact@johannestevans(.)com without the brackets, and I'll be filming short videos on the day and answering them!
Now that I am in the UK, I'm available for appearances if you'd like me to come talk to your book club, do a reading, join a convention or discussion panel, or even do some stand-up comedy - you can drop me a line at contact@johannestevans(.)com without the brackets for that too! I'm currently based mostly out of Bristol at the moment until I finalise my apartment up north, so hit me up for anything in the South of Wales or the East Midlands particularly, but I'm willing to travel farther afield so long as the travel costs aren't too prohibitive or you're willing to cover it / a portion of it.

Hi Mia!! I’ve wanted to send this ask for a while now, and I finally decided to swallow my inhibitions and go for it *inhales while sweating nervously*
I first came to know abt ur yt channel way back in 2018, when I saw your map part in the unravel needletail map. I remember it very clearly because it was one of the first maps I watched; I was also new to the warriors fandom in general and the vision of shadows arc was the first arc I read. I was really obsessed with ur part in that map. as in, I would watch that part over and over. maybe it stood out to me because of the coloured lineart, or the part where darktail lip syncs “I fear it’s too late”. either way, I took a look at ur channel, and well, became even more obsessed. I don’t really know how to phrase this, but I feel like you have impacted me in a big way? changed the trajectory of my life, even. it was the warrior cats fandom that made me not homophobic (which I picked up from the ppl in church) and that reaaaallly cushioned the blow when I realised that I too, was in fact, one of the queers (tm), and I think u and the art u made was a big part of that process. the queer cats made me feel like there’s a place in this world that I wholly deserve too uk?. I thought you were super cool because u were hosting maps and selling stuff and I was like. wow. I can’t do that. so really admired that. when I watched ur speedpaints I really wanted to draw like u because I loved ur style and it looked so effortless when u did it. and I think my style today still takes inspo from yours ٩(ˊᗜˋ)و  even though we didn’t interact, it was like ur presence was a comfort to me (is that weird?) while I was still hanging around in the wc fandom often. when I saw ur new yt account after a long while (this may sound cheesy but) I kind of felt like crying? it was like seeing someone from my childhood again. it’s so cool because it’s like time passes and we all grow up and change, and yet somehow end up in the same spot.
I think what I wanted to say was, thanks for being an inspiration and helping me grow up, in a way? And I think ur really cool and i love seeing ur art and ur OCs!! I hope I didn’t sound too weird (╥﹏╥) I don’t really know how to end this off ehe (ó﹏ò。) take care of urself peace and love byeeee
HGNBKJGN WOW THANK YOU! Wish i could remember my wc days as fondly as u do, so its nice to know i influenced someone in a good way back then LOL
Rlly wild to know you influenced someones life this way!! even when its believable and you feel that way about other people as well, but i dont mind this message at all tho i dont think its weird! I appreciate this :] Again, im glad i had such a positive influence on you! Thank you for this sweet message :'3
(The unravel map part was also a part i remember liking and being excited about, im glad it left such an impression on you because low key i think it still slaps. definitely could redo it to be way better now but it was very iconic to me personally too lol)

i can calculate almost the EXACT warrior cats timeline, trust me broski
it is my personal, massive brained take based on the eclipse in Eclipse, that most of warrior cats takes place from the mid to late 90s to 2000s
im basing this off the eclipse bc there WAS a solar eclipse in the year 1999 in the UK

Alright, fun fact about Warriors:
While I've known this for a while because I looked up some of the street names on the maps, the Warriors books take place somewhere in the UK. One of the other hints at this is the fact that "Heather" is a potential prefix for cats' names, and Heatherstar specifically is described as having a pinkish tint to her pelt. There's only one variety of plant of this pink coloration that has the common name of heather, and it's native to Europe, including Ireland, Scotland, and England.
One of the other things that's important to note is that both Heatherstar and Heathertail, the only two cats in a series of thousands of characters with the "Heather" prefix, are WindClan cats, and WindClan cats, in both the forest and lake territories, live on moorlands, the same habitat you find the plant heather in. Additionally, Heatherstar's pelt color having a pinkish tint could be where she got her name, because heather flowers are pink.
Canonically, Warriors is supposed to take place somewhere around Hampshire, a county in the south of England; specifically, the forest territories are based on the New Forest in southern England. However, looking at the maps in the books is interesting because some of the location names are similar to names of actual places in the UK (at least for the forest territories, I can't speak on the lake territories because I only have books from the first arc).
One of the street names is North Allerton Road, which leads to Carrionplace, which the humans call North Allerton Amenity Tip. Northallerton is an actual place in the UK. It's a town in North Yorkshire in England. Chelford is also a real place outside Manchester; it's specifically a village. The primary difference between Chelford in real life and Chelford in Warriors is Chelford in real life doesn't have a mill like the one in Warriors does. While there aren't any locations called Windover that I can see in the UK, there is a road called Wendover Road in Manchester. There's also an old mine in Wales called Devil's Gorge, much closer to Manchester than Hampshire, and potentially the inspiration behind Devil's Fingers (or the Highstones as the Clan cats call it).
Compiling all this information, if you were to ask me where I think the Warriors series takes place, I'd say somewhere in the central part of the UK, probably close to Manchester (possibly between Manchester and the Welsh and English border?), with some artistic/creative liberties taken.
Keep in mind I'm American and I've never been to the United Kingdom while the Erins are from the UK. This is just an analysis based on me inputting locations from the human map from the first book into Google Maps and trying to piece things together.
