I hope it's ok to throw up some Pete thoughts into your inbox, but that last rb of the fake vegaspete scenes has me thinking soooo many thoughts too. Even thinking about the original scene with Pete giving Porsche blocking advice... Do you think it's hard for Pete not to just see the violence in everything? Do you think it's hard for him to tell the difference? Was it easier for him to project his trauma onto Vegas than it was Porsche? Sorry sorry, my brain is kicking around so many hypotheticals that I almost want to write poetry
Oh anon, first of all, you can always come and throw at me *all* the Pete thoughts, I assume you've seen my blog and know how I'm like about that man. Second of all, damn, those questions are fascinating. I've never actually thought of Pete and violence and sex in that way before, at least not consciously (I think - I've only been thoroughly obsessing over him for almost 2 years lol). But anyway, for starters, I don't believe Pete is a stranger to sex. Even if he's a virgin in the show (something that was never confirmed), he's not oblivious to it. No matter the show's insistence at using Pete for comedic purposes in regards to him not knowing KP were a thing, I refuse to believe it! So, while, unfortunately, the scene with Porsche and the hickeys cannot really be interpreted in any other way than Pete having misunderstood what he saw on Porsche's neck, your question raises a good point for his character: does every act, including sex, involve violence for him? In my opinion, yes. Yes it does. Pete seeing the potential violence in everything could be a trauma response or a defense mechanism, both of which highly probable, as evidenced in ep4 with the table scene (though in that one, we had actual violence and potential escalated violence, depending on Tankhun's behaviour which Pete tried to control). Because of this, I don't think it's a matter of him finding it hard or not; it's a subconscious thing. I also don't think it'd be hard for him to tell the difference, but rather, Pete wouldn't *need* to tell the difference, because sex isn't something made for him. He's never thought it'd be something he would experience in his life before Vegas, so why distinguish one kind of violence from another? This is one of the main reasons why I utterly love their NC scene: it wasn't violent. Sure, it might have been painful - Pete hadn't completely healed yet, he was still wearing bandages and, depending on one's headcanon or not, penetration surely hurt to some degree - but it wasn't violent. It was hot kisses and licking necks and ass eating and slow thrusts and more kisses and.. yeah, you get the point. I believe it wasn't what Pete expected, same as the audience who witnessed it. Perhaps he expected another kind of violence, but got something completely different in the end, which is why Vegas using the handcuff again hit Pete so hard. The usual kind of violence returning, after the lack of it. He got too comfortable. He forgot to protect himself from the violence. Now, in regards to your last question, I believe Vegas' trauma is easier for Pete to project himself onto because it's a mirror (something @loveliesblood has actually said, because their brilliant character interpretations are brilliant). Pete's been there before, so he can empathize with a lost Vegas who's only response to the abuse is to blame himself. There's also the safety of distance: the days he'd been subjected to boxing against his will are over, so he's not in direct danger of his father abusing him like Vegas is. With Porsche, it's a little tricky. Taking as a hypothetical that he learns about what happened to Porsche somehow, the story hits a little *too* close to home for him to be able to process the trauma. There's no distance this time: it's here and now and he has to face it. But Pete is a hypocrite with no clue of what introspection means, so he shields himself from it, like he tries to do in ep13, in the infamous bathtub scene with Porsche, my favourite scene in the whole show. He cowers and hides and deflects. It's gorgeously agonizing to watch and I love it so, so much. This ended up being a little too long and I'm scared that I fucked up your incredible ask, but to salvage it a little bit, I'd like to highly encourage you to write the poetry you mentioned; we can never have enough of it, especially in the VP fandom. I'm sure it'll be wonderful ❤️ (Shoutout to @musictooth and their series of made-up vegaspete scenes, thank you so much for the brainworms haha)

I'm so happy to have finished my Kinnporsche the Series posca marker illustrations! I planned these out earlier this year and it took a long time to get in the right headspace for them. In the end, after multiple Kinnporsche rewatches and months of putting them off, I finished them all in about a week.
This show is so visually stunning, and I thought the vibrance of posca markers would be the best way for me to show my appreciation for its creativity. The beautiful lighting is such a fun contrast with the dark themes explored.

Tony sits nervously next to you, tapping his fingers restlessly against his thigh as you both wait for Peter to arrive. This is the first time he’s going to be around while you’re small, you’ve gotten along with the teen at random party’s Tony��s hosted or occasionally seeing him while he was on a mission, but Tony has anxiety about him seeing you while you’re regressed.
He knows Peter would never intentionally hurt you, but the boy has super strength that’s fairly new and controlling that can be difficult. Not to mention how much energy Peter has compared to your own, a loudness and excitement you don’t tend to match while in headspace. You’ve always been on the quieter side of things, Tony’s worried you might get overwhelmed today and has already told you that you can ask to go to your room anytime you need to.
You’re not worried about seeing Peter, he’s always been nice and sweet towards you, you don’t expect anything different today. So you’ve done what you can to calm Tony down. Cuddling into his side seems to be the most affective, and what you’re doing right now.
“Here he is baby.” Tony says quieter, more for himself than you but you’re okay with it, you silently nod and curl farther into your caregivers side.
“Hi guys, sorry I’m a few minutes late I was caught up in patrol with this guy who lost his bike.” Peter rambles as he dumps his backpack and mask onto the floor, smiling brightly to you and Tony once you’re able to see his face.
“Hi Pete!” You grin when he walks over, crouching in front of the couch to be at your level.
“Hey there, Mr.Stark said you’d be feeling small when I came over today, is that true?” His tone is gentle and calm, you can feel Tony relax next to you at hearing it.
“Uh-huh. You wanna color with me?” Peter immediately nods, letting you pass by him to get over to the coffee table where coloring books and crayons are stashed underneath it.
You and Peter sit across from one another, cross legged and chatting quietly about what picture Peter should color and which one you should. Tony can’t help but sigh in relief at the sight, and snap a quick picture that he hopes neither of you noticed. He also makes a mental note to put Peter on the ‘possible babysitters’ list he has going for emergency’s.

♥️ Ranking Richonne
#2: I'm Still With You (S5E16)
My favorite pre-canon Richonne scene. 😍 This moment is something special and monumental for many reasons. Plus it features my favorite thing Michonne has ever said to Rick in TWD. To me, the connection, vulnerability, and steam in this scene are nearly equal to some of Richonne's passionate exchanges during their post-canon era. I love that this moment makes it loud and clear that these two have a very powerful effect on each other. And most importantly, I adore this scene for cementing that Rick and Michonne are with each other always. 🥹 What a gift...
A lot of relationships can appear strong during happy times when both individuals are on the same page. However, it's during those challenging periods, when two hold different outlooks and have a multitude of things weighing on them, that the true strength of a relationship really becomes evident.
So part of what puts this scene so high on my list is that it is one of the clearest depictions of why Richonne's relationship is so deep and durable. Because even at this time when circumstances could have easily caused a major divide between them, Michonne and Rick instead choose each other and prove this is a relationship that they sincerely value in the good times and the hard times too.
But, before we get into the #2 scene, we have to talk about some scenes that proceed it in the s5 finale. 🤗
As I’ve said in a previous post, I think this scene where Rick wakes up to find Michonne watching over him and they finally talk about his headspace is extremely revealing of how he views her. Rick telling Michonne, "Well you wanted this place," just really hammered home that in many ways she’s in the wife category to him. Rick was trying to secure this place for team family, but especially for Michonne in a way that he wasn't able to do for Lori.
The scene opens with Rick asleep after Michonne quite literally knocked some sense into him the prior ep, and it's funny that when he stirs awake, he laughs almost amused as he recalls the wild stuff that happened leading up to this point.
Then Michonne asks, "What’s so funny?" and you see a surprised little look on Rick's face as he asks, "You were here the whole time?" And I like that there’s not an ounce of frustration towards her after knocking him out. He gets it.
I love that Michonne is the one in here with him. Even knowing Rick has been wildin' out she’s still protective of him. Cuz she can knock him out but that doesn’t mean she’s gonna let anyone else come for him. It’s like a visual representation of the sentiment she’ll later express in my golden #2 scene.
Michonne even says she was there with Rick all night, which is such an indicator of her love for him. And then because she knows his laugh meant something, she reiterates "What’s so funny?," and I love that Rick is willing to be vulnerable about his headspace with her when he admits to her that mentally he’s still stuck in the train car from Terminus.
Michonne gives him the rundown of what he missed, and it’s clear she was thoroughly holding down the fort and keeping the peace while he was out of it.
Then I appreciate that Michonne closes some of the distance between them when she pulls her chair closer and asks, "Rick, what are you doing?"
It’s clear she’s concerned about him, and I like that she asks this way. It’s not accusatory like, 'What were you thinking?' or derogatory like, 'What’s wrong with you?' She wants to know what he’s doing cuz clearly she can tell Rick thinks he’s doing what he has to even though he really doesn’t have to. And if he’d be honest with her, she could help him see that.
Like in this scene, Michonne really could have told Rick...
And she'd be right lol. 😋 However, when she asks this, Rick doesn’t have an answer so then Michonne for the first time addresses the Pete and Jessie situation.
She says, "You could have told me what was happening." And there’s a deeper reason Rick didn’t tell her, beyond what he’ll claim here when he just says "it moved fast." He kept people closest to him like Carl, Michonne, and Glenn out of the loop about the Anderson situation because in many ways his off behavior in that situation was not rooted in clarity but rather in the unresolved wound of losing Lori without closure and the severe PTSD that everything about ASZ triggered within him.
He says it moved fast “and then Noah.” The way Rick says that part feels like he knows how hard Noah’s loss was on Michonne. We saw her grieving Noah a bit in a prior ep too. Which would make sense, especially because Noah, as a kid who didn’t make it, could stir up a lot of pain over losing Andre for her. 😢
Rick says he couldn’t tell her about the gun and, while it could seem like he says it like he couldn’t trust her with that info, he knows what he really means which is what he’ll reveal later - that he couldn’t tell her cuz she had the power to talk him out of it.
Michonne sarcastically says, "nah you couldn’t," cuz she knows Rick knows good and well he can tell her anything.
It becomes clear that Rick meant he couldn’t tell her because of her influence on him when he says, “Well you wanted this place.” Again, I’ll always love the significance and delivery of this line. And he’s not saying this accusatory. He knows finding a home meant something to her, and it meant something to him that Michonne got what she wanted.
It really feels like during this whole arc, Rick didn’t want to tamper with Michonne's experience in ASZ by roping her into his underhanded plans with Daryl and Carol because they were plans that suggested the place could fall or not work out, and he knows Michonne wanted to believe in this place.
Along with knowing Michonne could talk him out of this approach, I've always felt like part of why Rick kept her out of the plans - plans that normally he would want her fully involved in - was because of his desire to "give her this place" without the burden of expecting things to go wrong.
Think about pretty much all of Rick and Michonne's scenes in ASZ leading up to this point, especially the scene where he looks right at Michonne as he "signs the papers" and agrees to be a constable with her the day after she expresses to him that she would want a job. Each of their ASZ scenes suggested that even as Rick was spiraling on his own mental journey, everything in him still wanted Michonne to have this place, even if it meant carrying the burden of intense uncertainty on his own.
Fortunately, in this ep, Rick learns that he is no longer with a partner who expects him to carry any burdening issues alone ever. 🙌🏽
So then Michonne adamantly tells him they had to stop being out there, and she's right as always. Then Rick says, "Well we’re here," and I love Michonne’s response to this. She notes what Rick said earlier about still being mentally stuck in that train car when she compassionately says, “Well you just said you weren’t.”
And really it’s true, the poor guy has not been all there in ASZ hence some of his more volatile behavior. And Rick looks like he knows Michonne has a point when he stares at her in this moment.
Then when Carol, Abe, and Glenn walk in (which feels like they are walking in on the Richonne bubble) Rick is caught in the middle with Michonne on one end asking about the gun, and Carol on the other wanting him to lie.
And you can just tell that man does not want to lie to Michonne anymore. But he goes along with Carol’s story even tho Michonne ain’t buying it, looking at Rick and Carol like...
Later, Carol talks with Rick alone and is in his ear about continuing their trust-no-one approach. And the first thing Rick asks is why she didn’t want to tell Michonne, Glenn, and Abe about the gun. You know those magnets within him are ready to stop with the games that are causing distance with Michonne and come clean to her once and for all.
Carol seems to suggest that Michonne knocking Rick out might make her untrustworthy of being let in on their plans, but I adore that Rick so quickly and confidently defends Michonne, saying both that he deserved what Michonne did and that, "She’s with us."
He knows and trusts his woman, y'all. And I love that even after Michonne knocked him out and Carol's trying to cast doubts about her, Rick's still like...
In this whole ASZ situation Carol and Michonne reflect two different ways to approach ASZ. And in this scene with Rick and Carol, it’s clear that Rick has already been swayed more to Michonne’s side, especially as he tells Carol, "I don’t want to lie anymore."
This moment lets you know that without even directly talking him out of it, Michonne has again influenced Rick to no longer want to scheme and plot under the table. I know Rick hated feeling even remotely distant from Michonne, and he’s ready to fix that and stop lying to her asap.
Also, now you know I don’t really care to revisit any of those scenes, but all I’ll say about the scene with Jessie in this ep is it’s an interesting choice to have Rick only seen through the window when they talk. It again shows that in this situation he’s not all there, as Rick's not even seen present in the same shot as her, just a reflection of who he is.
But then, in this next scene, this Top 2 classic, not only is Rick directly in the shot with the woman he’s meant for, but the two get all up close and personal too...
Ok so on to my favorite pre-canon scene and top 2 moment. 🤩
I love that after such a compellingly wild journey with Rick’s character arc in season 5, his turning point back to some sense of sanity in the finale is in this moment with Michonne. She’s the person in his life most capable of helping him start seeing things clearer.
It reminds me of Rick’s other mental spiral arc in s3 and how his turning point was also Michonne-related as nearly giving her up sparked him to return to democracy. No matter how off the deep end Rick can go, something about Michonne can always bring him back. 💯
So the scene opens with Michonne approaching the room and softly saying, "Rick, you ready?" which I like especially because in 5.11 she had asked Rick that very thing right outside the gates of ASZ before they ever entered the community.
And in some ways, Rick wasn’t fully ready to let go of the fight and embrace this place back then, which has led to their current predicament. But even then, she still checks in on him now and wants to know where he’s really at with this.
(also the opening shot low-key feels like she's the angel arriving on his shoulder to guide him back to the light, if you ask me.)
This moment of her checking on him also sorta feels like it parallels that scene in The Distance when Michonne approaches Rick outside the barn while he works on a car. There's some similar positioning with him lower and her standing above, but the interesting difference is in 5.11 Rick and Michonne were discussing the potential for other people/communities to pose a threat, and here in 5.16 they have to deal with how Rick is now deemed the threat to the community.
Then I love that all Michonne has to say is just those three words - "Rick, you ready?" - and Rick is ready to completely spill everything. Like details and all with no hesitation. 😋
Rick lays it all out saying how he, Carol, and Daryl worked out the plan to keep guns together, and he lets Michonne know exactly what they took from the armory and exactly what they still have.
Rick says, “We lied to you cuz I wasn’t sure how you’d take it - what you’d do.” which has always been quite interesting to me because like he knows Michonne wouldn’t just straight up turn on him or fight him but I think just the mere thought that what she’d do is pull away from him or be disappointed was enough for Rick to feel he couldn’t risk telling her.
And I like how, as he says this, he holds his hand out to give her the gun as this symbol that not only is he confessing, but he’s ready to “turn himself in” in a sense and let her have the gun and have intel on the plan completely, rather than hide anything from her.
I feel like this moment really hammers home that Rick views Michonne as his partner. They'd been operating like partners and co-leaders so much before arriving in Alexandria, so Rick knows that Michonne is someone in the group who would have and should have been let in on these types of plans, which is why not telling her felt like a lie that weighed on him.
I like that when Michonne hears Rick say this, she puts the windbreaker down, knowing they need to have a moment and talk this out so she can let him know exactly where she stands.
She asks if he thinks she’d try to stop him, and Rick, always finding time to be a little teasing with her, says, "Well you did hit me over the head." You know he's teasing too cuz he literally just defended her doing this when he spoke with Carol earlier lol.
And I appreciate that Michonne wants it to be crystal clear she did that to help him and not for the others. "That was for you." Of course, it’s for him, and doing what she thought was best to help him.
Even before hearing her say this, you know Rick believes that she did this with his best interests in mind.
And then I adore that he gets extra vulnerable for this next part, with this being his turn to close the distance between them.
Rick stands up and gets super close to her - cuz magnets - and he finally tells Michonne that he didn't tell her about the guns because “I was afraid you’d talk me out of it…you could’ve.”
Y'all, I love this. 😊 That "you could've" is going to hit my heart every time.
I’ve mentioned other pre-canon moments on this list where Rick has told on himself in terms of what he feels for Michonne. But none more than in this moment right here does Rick outright expose that Michonne has a very special and substantial influence on him.
It’s a big deal one; for her to have this power, two; for Rick to know Michonne has this power, and three; for him to then straight up tell her she has this power.
This is extremely significant, especially because Rick was seemingly at his most dazed during this 5B arc and said himself he was in the middle of losing his mind...and yet even in that disoriented state, he still had enough wherewithal to be aware that Michonne could get him to change course if she so much as talked to him about the situation.
Like homeboy was struggling to know right from left at this time, but one thing he did know was that Michonne had the power to heavily influence his choices and actions.
Rick Grimes won’t just let anybody talk him in or out of things, and yet Michonne effortlessly can do both as we saw throughout s5 and beyond. He also trusts her to know the immense influence she has without manipulating it. And honestly, he picked a good person to give this power to because Michonne is always right. 👑😌 Like fr...
I love that Rick finally came right out with it and told her this because he seemed to deep down know it was the case all along. Michonne means a whole lot to him, he fully respects her wisdom and ideas, and something in him always wants to give her what she wants, and in some capacity, he knows this about himself even here pre-canon.
As this is the season 5 finale, this is when they tie up a lot of arcs and storylines, and it’s fitting after a season where Michonne so fully stepped up as Rick's co-partner and both led alongside him and led him - the season ends with Rick actively knowing that just Michonne’s words, hell even a mere look, could influence his decisions on crucial matters. Even after losing it a bit in Alexandria, he still knows he'd trust Michonne’s gut even over his own. 👌🏽
And for him to say, "I was afraid..." I love the vulnerability. This is the Rick Grimes who has often had to come across as fearless to those they encounter, but here he can be honest and human and let her know that the influence she has over him is strong enough to even make him afraid.
Deep down something in Rick knew that Michonne has his whole heart and that he’ll ultimately be swayed to do what she says. Also, the visual of the two together is just so pleasing and the chemistry is always 🔥🔥.
And then cuz you know these equals stay taking turns sending my heart soaring - it’s Michonne’s turn to have me jumping for joy when she responds to him. (That's part of what makes this a top 2 moment because Rick and Michonne both have a line that just leaves me endlessly beaming 🤗)
First, Michonne so gently tells Rick they don’t need the guns here, and she doesn’t need her sword. It makes me think of the really sweet and sociable honorable mention moment they had in 5A when Rick asks her about her sword, and she says she doesn’t miss her sword but rather misses people they love like Hershel. Both these moments show she's always had such a solid perspective. 👑
Also y’all, as Michonne is talking to Rick in this s5 finale moment, again I have to point out the way Rick is looking at her...Whipped with a capital W. He looks so entranced that he again has to have one of those signature not-so-slick look-up moves he does whenever he knows he’s about to get lost in her lol.
I mentioned in a previous post that the story knew it wanted Rick and Michonne's journey to be that of an epic love story, hence why so many of their pre-canon scenes feel like they could fit perfectly into a romance. And you know who also naturally knew this - the Andrew Lincoln.
Because honey, the way his eyes always told the story that Rick was in love with Michonne 👏🏽👏🏽. Especially in this season 5 finale scene, all you have to do is look at Rick's eyes to know...
When Andy played our beloved sheriff during this pre-canon era, he basically said I don't really care what other storylines y'all got going on for Rick cuz whenever Rick is in front of Michonne he's going to look at her like she's the one for him really and truly. And I appreciate him for it. 😌
All those special stares between both Rick and Michonne throughout their journey really do add a wonderful touch to this love story. 👌🏽🥰
So then Michonne says, “I think you can find a way,” showing her steadfast belief in him. And then I love that she then emphasizes, “We can find a way.” It's refreshingly letting him know that, in navigating all this, he doesn’t have to do it alone. She will be by his side and they're a package deal. 😊
And then, as you know, what makes this scene such a classic is when Michonne flat out expresses the sentiment that they are forever a package deal when she so sincerely says, “And if we don’t…I’m still with you.” BEAUTIFUL. 😭
Oh I adore it with everything in me. She’s communicated to Rick that she’s still with him in so many different ways throughout the series, but I love that here she gets to look right at him with so much love in her eyes and let him know directly that she’s still with him no matter what. Good, bad, or ugly, she will forever be team Rick Grimes. 👌🏽
And it’s huge for her to say this and for Rick to hear this. Finding a home base has been Michonne's big goal this season and Rick's been aiming to provide that home - but now in the finale, this is Michonne’s chance to tell Rick she found home long ago because home actually isn’t a place - it’s him. And he no longer has to worry about losing her.
Also with the uncertainty of their world, how deep is it that they found a nice cushy community, a gold mine in that world, and Michonne is saying I still choose you even over the invaluable safety of having this home. As I’ve said before, this is the season where Rick and Michonne both show through words and actions that they will follow each other anywhere.
It’s so moving for Rick, someone who knows disloyalty well from his previous pre-apocalypse relationships (Lori & Shane), now has this woman to say I’m on your side always. And it's big for Michonne to know that the bond she formed with Rick is one she'll be committed to no matter what. Just a precious sentiment and my favorite thing she’s ever said to Rick so far. 🥰
And the way Michonne is looking at him. 😍 She’s in love with him, can’t tell me any different. So I, of course, gotta give major props to the Danai Gurira too because she also helped sculpt this story in the direction of a love story with the way Michonne would always look and talk to Rick.
Then Rick seems to just be taking her in completely as she says this lovely loyal line. Rick's look here feels like yet another moment that suggests he marvels over how he got so lucky to have someone like her be with him like this.
As Rick and Michonne let a silent moment linger between them, it really felt like RJ’s parents were finally about to kiss in this scene. Cuz these two were practically having this conversation...
Instead, Michonne notes how "something is going to happen," cuz she’s not naive or overly idealistic, and then she wisely states, "just don’t make something happen." And in this moment we’re seeing in real time the way Michonne just expressing herself can impact Rick and motivate him to change course.
I'm sure a lot of characters would have assumed Rick was unreachable in his season 5 era, but Michonne can always so effortlessly reach him and get him to try a new approach.
After she beautifully and prudently expresses this, Rick looks at her mesmerized (the usual), and then hands her the gun again, so eager to offer it as this peace offering that says he is with her too and willing to try to go about this her way rather than fight this his way.
It's a big deal for him to do this and I absolutely love the visual of this whole wordless moment.
I mentioned how in Clear, Michonne hands Rick a bullet as a sort of peace offering to show she’s on his side. And here Rick offers the same with the gun, but I love that instead of taking the gun, the shot draws emphasis on the two’s hands (seriously, Richonne stays giving the most Outstanding Performance by a Pair of Hands 👏🏽) as she softly places a hand over his and signals both that he doesn’t have to give her the gun and that she trusts him to make the right choice with it.
Again, Michonne is the soundest character in TWD, bar none, so in this moment, she knows it’s not necessarily unwise to have the gun, she’s not against the idea of precautions, but she also knows hostility is simply not needed here. And I love the arresting way they can always disarm each other, even without taking a gun.
And the moment just feels genuinely intimate and romantic which I love. Any time they touch it’s sparks. ✨ Michonne's first initiating touch with Rick was outside ASZ in 5.11 and now she does it again in the finale as touching his hand almost reflects her once again hoping that he’s really ready this time to make this place work.
But even if he's not...she's still with him. 🥹
Rick and Michonne then share this palpable passionate look before she heads out, sounding like a wife as she tells him, "Don’t be too long."
And that eye contact tho. 🔥 Richonne's eye contact at the end of this scene alone deserves its own shoutout. 👏🏽
Y’all, let me tell you what we just watched in this scene were some soulmates. Not just besties, or family, or partners - no, this was an exchange between soulmates. That’s their person, their true love, the one they trust unwaveringly - and somewhere in them during this scene, their hearts know it too. Their minds might need to do some catching up, but their hearts know if you ask me.
At the end of this scene, Rick stands alone in the room and holds the gun, moving his hand almost as if it's Michonne's touch that's most lingering with him. It may sound straight out of a romance film to say that, but that really is an element of what this subtle moment is giving.
Seeing that tiny moment of Rick's reaction to the gun in his hand after Michonne's tender touch just confirmed to me that one of the great perks about this ship is we never have to embellish the spark between Richonne because there really are just that many little romantic details to notice and cherish within these scenes.
Rick’s lingering reaction as she leaves also makes it feel like the gun weighs more than it does as it now symbolizes a weighted decision “to use or not to use.” But he knows deep down because the woman he loves has spoken and touched him literally and figuratively, he wants to make his next move one that she could be proud of.
And after a scene as romantically coded as this one, I too don't care what other storyline was supposed to be happening during this time...because Richonne was on the fast track to canon. 1000%.
Like truly after this moment there is no convincing me that Rick was healthily falling for anyone else. The chemistry, attraction, respect, love, and desire are far too evident in this scene between Rick and Michonne to suggest anything other than that canon Richonne is just around the corner. 🔥 And I love that Danai also noted this as a scene that really made it clear Rick and Michonne's bond was bound to blossom into more.
In season 5, who Rick was authentically in love with was crystal clear and who Michonne was authentically in love with was crystal clear. And fortunately, the following season, Rick and Michonne finally took the leap and made it crystal clear to themselves and the world that the two were in love with each other. 🙌🏾
This "I'm still with you" scene was an especially blatant sign that Rick and Michonne had developed an unbreakable love. And this moment is deserving of my #2 spot for how much meaning it carries.
The scene powerfully shows that what Rick and Michonne have between them is and has always been so incredibly deep, influential, reverential, beautiful, steamy, and special - and that no matter what they face or where they go, Rick and Michonne will always and forever be with each other. 🥰

“Mission Alert, 22nd street and 8th avenue. Reports says the Electro is making his way to the city’s power grid. Police are asking for the Avenger’s assistance.” Jarvis echoed through the Tower.
“A mission!!” Peter jumped from his bed. He threw his spider stuffie and spit his pacifier out before running into the other room.
“Jarvis! Keep me updated on the mission! I’m getting changed now.”
“Sir, do you think you’re in the right headspace to be going on this mission?”
“Of course! I’m big now. I just needed a little break and now I’m good.”
He quickly threw on his suit, grabbed his web shooters before leaving his room. Not without one extra hug to his stuffie though! If Jarvis had real eyes, he’d be rolling them.
Peter started running down the hall, then thought the doors to the balcony. With one big jump he swung into the city.
Peter began to talk to Jarvis through his suit’s technology, “Tell Da-…Tell Mister Stark-“
“Tell me what?”
Peter looked to his right to see Tony flying beside him. “Hey! I was just telling Jarvis-“
“Where do you think you’re going Pete?”
“I’m going on the mission.” Peter said, a bit unsure of himself. “You see, I just got back from school so I was just relaxing watching this old show called Gillian’s Island when Jarvis said the mission alert and since everyone else is away on the mission in Australia I thought I would cover it.” Peter said as fast as lighting. Was it all completely true…no.
“Huh? Really?” Tony didn’t sound too convinced.
“Yeah! And now that you’re here we can do this together! On patrol! Come on!” he tried to swing faster but Ironman was much faster than Peter’s swinging. Tony stopped him, the two just stood in the air, Ironman hovering and Spider-Man holding onto one of his webs.
“I think maybe you should sit this one out kid. I’ll take care of it.”
“But I can do it! He’s my villain anyway! Trust me I’ll be-.”
There was a sudden rumble with lighting flying into the air. The two looked at one another.
Tony sighed, “We don’t have time to argue. Alright, come on kid. As long as you’re not feeling Little…” Peter could hear the slight sternness to his voice.
“Nope! All good. Alright let’s goooo!” And before Tony could him question more, Peter continued to swing away.
Tony just sighed and followed after him. While Peter swung, Tony flied beside him. They were heading towards downtown near Chelsea market and the Flatiron building.
As they made their way Peter noticed all the different buildings, a new toy store, the Harry Potter store, plus there was probably a new toy stand at Chelsea market.
“Da-…Mister Stark? After we take down Electro can we go to Chelsea market? I wanna see if they’ve got a new toy stand, because the last time I was there with you and Papa I saw-“
“Kid look out!”
Tony grabbed Peter before a lighting strike could hit him. He set him down on a rooftop near by.
“Peter answer me right now. Are you feeling big or Little?” Tony asked in his angry stern voice.
“I’m fine! I’ve got this!” He shook his head and completely avoid the question entirely. Again Peter pusher past and over to Electro who was not happy to see the duo.
“The spider brought backup? It won’t matter!”
Electro began throwing lighting bolts towards Spider-Man and Ironman but the two dodge them well.
“You remember what I taught you last week?”
“The above and below trick?” Peter happily replied.
“That’s the one. Alright kid, let’s do it.” Tony flew below Electro. While he was distracted with Tony, Peter swung above, grabbing his arms in his webs perfectly restraining him.
“We got him Mister Stark! We got-.”
There was just one problem…Electro’s hand were still filled with electricity. So he shot above him. The electricity traveled up the webs and onto Peter, electrocuting him.
Peter doesn’t really remember what happened after that. He heard his Dadee call after him, then he remembers falling, then everything went dark as he passed out. Though he thought he remembered something red wrapping around him.

When Peter started to wake up he felt wrapped in a blanket. No…wait a minute.
Peter’s eyes fluttered as he started to regain consciousness. He looked down to see his whole body was wrapped in not a blanket but a cape, specifically Doctor Stranger’s cloak.
Peter’s body ached and his head was pounding but he looked around for his Dadee and his Papa too.
He realized where he was. Safe and sound in Papa’s mansion in Downtown Manhattan, the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Peter sighed and sunk into the very comfy bed. He always loved going to Papa’s house. Everything was so cool and mysterious.
Plus he always has the softest beds imaginable. He couldn’t help but close his eyes and fall back to sleep. Expect cloak started to tickle him! Peter began to giggle and giggle, the cloak was relentless.
The cloak only ceased its tickle attack when the door to the bedroom opened up. Peter looked to see Uncle Wong enter with a tray in his hands.
“How are you feeling little one?”
“I’m fine! Really!” Peter began to sit up but his pounding headache had him sink right back down. “Actually my head hurts, badly.” He whined holding his head.
Wong hummed in response, “I thought so. That’s why I brought this for you.”
Wong sat the tray down on Peter’s lap. On it, were little bottles with different colored liquids inside. Peter looked at Wong confused.
“Don’t worry it’s all medicines to help you feel better.” Wong started looking through the different bottles for the right one.
He picked up one and opened it up, black smoke started to pour out of it before he quickly plugged it shut.
Peter’s eyes widened as he looked at Wong with sheer horror on his face. Wong laughed nervously, “Haha, that was the wrong one.”
“Wrong one?! What is that?!”
“Nothing you need to worry about. Let’s see here.” Wong looked through the bottles until, “Ah ha! Here it is!”
He held up a glass bottle with a blue liquid inside. Peter looked at Wong worried, “What is that?”
“It’s liquid advil. I will help you feel better soon.”
“No thank Uncle Wong I’m gonna see Papa instead.” Peter began sitting up with the help of the cloak.
“I’m telling you Peter this will help you. It’s good medicine. I’m 78% sure.”
“78% sure?! What about the other 22%?”
“Well, they’re a chance that this could turn you into a fish or cure your headache.”
“A FISH?!”
“It’s only a 22% chance! Nothing to worry about!”
Peter’s heart was in his throat. He stood up on unsteady feet but thanks to the cloak he didn’t fall. He looked at the cloak and then Wong.
“Mister cloak, take me to Papa please.”
“Peter wait-.”
The cloak lifted Peter in the air and flew him right out the door, ignoring Wong. The cloak flew through the mansion in search of Strange, all while Peter was giggling, but thankfully it didn’t need to look far.
Strange and Tony sat by the fireplace. A coffee table with tea cups sat between their big chairs.
“I should’ve checked with Jarvis the moment I caught up with him in New York. I just had a feeling he wasn’t as big as he was saying.”
“It isn’t your fault Tony. It’s hard to tell when Peter is truly regressed or somewhere in between. I’m just happy he wasn’t badly hurt.”
“Sometimes I wonder if I’m a good Caregiver or I’m becoming my old man.” Tony sighed.
“Tony, Peter idolizes you. There’s really very little you could say or do to make him hate you. Don’t beat yourself up, that’s my job.” Strange smirked.
Tony rolled his eyes, “How did you even find us?”
“I was heading to Chelsea Markey to pick up something for Peter. Last time we were there I saw him looking at a toy stand and-”
The cloak carrying Peter flew into the room, knocking over the coffee table with their tea cups. The cloak deposited Peter in Strange’s lap with one plop.
Peter giggled and waved to the cloak goodbye. “Thank you cloakie!” The cloak waved back before disappearing into the mansion.
“My little bundle of joy delivered into my lap.” Strange chuckled.
Peter reach forward and hugged Strange, who recuperated wrapping his arms around Peter. “Peter, sweet one, how are you feeling?”
“My head hurts.” Peter mumbled in the hug.
He lifted his head up but held onto Strange still, “Uncle Wong tried to poison me Papa!”
Strange raised an eye brow, “Did he now?”
“Yeah! He brought in this big tray of bottles! One of them he opened had black smoke coming out of it! And another could’ve turned me into a fish!!”
“A fish?!” Tony stood up and joined the two, “We can’t have that happen! What will we do if our little spider turned into a little fish?!” Tony said as dramatic as possible.
“No Dadee! Don’t wanna be a fish!”
“Don’t worry kiddo, you’re not going to be a fish. I’m sure Papa has some regular medicine for you around here somewhere.”
“Come on,” Strange said lifting Peter into his arms. “Let’s get you some medicine and then it’s back to bed for you.”
“Noooooo wanna play!”
“Listen to your Papa Pete, you need all the rest in the world after that shock. I’m sorry this happened to you. I should’ve seen it coming and helped you.”
“It’s okay! I’m okay! See?” Peter smiled.
Tony smiled back, “I can definitely see that. Nothing stops my little one.”
“How about a cozy resting day? Just the three of us? That way you can heal and you won’t be without your Papa and Dadee. We can watch whatever movie you want. How does that sound?” Strange offered.
Peter smiled at his two amazing Caregivers, “Yes!! Just one thing?”
“Yes?”
“Can we invite Uncle Wong too. But make him promise not to turn me into a fish…please.”
The two Caregivers laughed, “We’ll make him promise not to turn you into a fish.”

u scare me genuinely cause we still have vicky’s finals, pete’s game, traveling home, and whatever happens at home left in golden and ik ur gonna find a way to make that 50 chapters. i don’t know how you do it. you elaborate on the smallest things that i would never think to elaborate on. just the most attention to detail and character development that u will ever see in fanfiction.
IT'S NOT A GOOD SITUATION. EVERYTHING GETS SO OUT OF CONTROL.
In seriousness, if you're wondering how everything I write turn out this way, it's because I have this rule that whenever I am tempted to skip ahead in time, to summarize a day or a morning or a few hours in just a few sentences, I find myself thinking, "But what really happened during that time period?" Like, these characters didn't cease to exist. They lived that day, that morning, those hours. What did they do during them? Sometimes the answer might really be unimportant. But a lot of times once I stop to think about what they did with that time, I realize that maybe I can't summarize it but we need to live it with them so we understand their headspace better when we come back to the "main" action.
And then, of course, it turns out that all these little side bits I didn't mean to write end up being the story. The real goal was the journey, not the destination, etc., etc.
And then people have left me comments that are like, "But how do you make that conversation with Vicky last so many words????" And not in a bad way! In a good way! So I'll tell you. Once again, I don't let myself handwave very much. I don't often just say, "They chatted for a little while about the Olympics and the weather." I think to myself, No, what did they actually say to each other about the Olympics and the weather? Because their small talk is every bit as important as the real "point" of the conversation. This is how people IRL actually converse and interact with each other. Our relationships are mainly composed of just a series of "meaningless" conversations with each other. But those "meaningless" conversations are the whole point. So Pete and Vicky end up talking longer than is really needed because, Idk, that's what I feel like I need to do to truly understand what either one of them will do next.
I will also say that my first draft of a scene is always much shorter than the version I end up posting. Often my first time writing, I am just trying to get to the point. Why are these two characters talking? What am I trying to accomplish here? But then when I read it over, it will feel rushed to me. It will feel like they say things out of nowhere, and so then I find myself either writing more dialogue to justify the thread of the conversation, or writing more internal monologue for the same reason. Either way, the scene gets longer when I come back to it and read it over, because bits stand out jarringly and need to be smoothed over. I don't often add a lot -- with the Vicky/Pete scene, ultimately I added around two hundred words before posting it -- but those words are where I feel like I need to slow things down because they felt like I was in a rush.

(⚠️⚠️TW Self harm,⚠️⚠️ mention of suicidal thoughts⚠️⚠️blood⚠️⚠️angst⚠️⚠️. if you feel as though you are not in the mental space to read this. Do not read it. you are free to come back when you are in a better headspace. just please stay safe💛) i’m also aware that the writing in this one is kind of weak. 
It felt like any Tuesday. Casper woke up to their alarm, rolled over, hugged their sleeping boyfriend gave him a kiss on the shoulder, then got up and got ready for work. And the day went on as normal…..almost.
Casper hadn’t heard from Charlie the whole day. But it was Tuesday. Tuesday was payday for a lot of people. sweet Pete’s was usually busy on Tuesdays. But something was off Casper just couldn’t put their finger on what.
*Buzz buzz* 
There is no caller ID just a phone number with a familiar area code 
“hello?”
The voice on the other line was raspy an older sounding man, a voice Casper recognized well 
“Pete? Is everything OK? Did something happen?” “I was wonderings if yous knew where Charlie was. Little punk didn’t show up for work today”
His words sent a chill down Caspers spine. They knew it. They knew something was off.
“I haven’t heard from him all day…I thought he was busy at work…” “yeah well if you see him, tell him I’m gonna write his little ass up for missing work without notice”
And just like that, the call ended as quickly as it began. Casper hurried to their bosses office and said they had to leave early.
“come on Chuckie pick up the phone!”
They tried calling him on the drive home But.
“Dammit Chuck pick up!”
No answer 
They quickly pull into the driveway and run to the door fiddling with their keys as they go. Briefly, looking up to see Charlie’s skateboard still on the porch. 
once they walk in, they start calling his name 
“Charlie?!….Charlie?! baby is everything all right?!”
“not in the kitchen….not in the dining room or living room…..” they say. scanning each room 
They hear a noise. A noise that they are all too familiar with. 
“Chuckie…?” They say softly, leaning against the door to the master bathroom. 
“don’t come in..*Sniffle*”
A small wave of relief washes over Casper, hearing Charlie’s voice 
“Charlie…. are you OK?”
No response 
“Charlie baby. I promise I won’t be mad I just wanna know that you’re OK”
Casper sits on the floor and leans their back against the door 
“I don’t want you to see me like this cas….”
Casper gently presses the side of their face against the door 
“sweetheart there is no side of you that would ever make me turn away. i’m worried about you. I want to know you’re safe”
They hear the click of the door unlocking 
“i’m not gonna come in until you say it’s OK”
After a minute, Charlie slowly opens the door.
(⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️)
Charlie was sitting with his back to the tub, his eyes were bloodshot, and his face was stained with tears, his arms were nearly covered with blood.
“oh Charlie…”
Casper slowly moves closer 
“i’m sorry cas…”
Casper cups his cheek in their hand.
“Shhh shhh you have nothing to apologize for….”
A tear rolls down Charlie’s face, feeling Casper’s hand on his cheek. His hands start to shake, and Casper can hear his breathing getting heavy. 
“I didn’t want to do it *Sniffle* I didn’t know what else to do I I just w wanted it to stop-*sniff*” 
“I know. I know baby”
Casper wraps their arms around him as he sobs into their shoulder. After some tears. Charlie starts to compose himself. 
“Baby…you don’t have to talk about it right now you don’t have to tell me anything but…I need to clean them..are you OK with that?”
Casper held Charlie’s hands and looked down at his wounded arms 
“and I need to see it”
Charlie looked at them and with a heavy sigh he nodded his head and pulled a bloodstained razor blade from his pocket.
“you don’t need this anymore”
They put the razor blade in their coat pocket and gesture for Charlie to sit on the toilet lid. He stands up and sits while Casper grabs a warm washcloth, and begins cleaning his cuts.
“it just doesn’t make….it doesn’t make any fucking sense” Casper hummed in response. Grabbing a bottle of hydrogen peroxide from under the sink. 
“I have loving parents, an amazing partner, and a pretty good job..why the fuck do I keep having slip ups like this?!”
Casper puts a hand on his cheek, and looks him in the eyes softly 
“Charlie…you could have the whole world in your hands and this could still happen. baby relapse is never a pretty thing….but it’s something that happens. it happens a lot….it’s a sad fact to admit, but it’s true”
Casper finishes up bandaging Charlie’s arm. Once they’re done, they hold Charlie’s face in their hands and give him a kiss on the forehead. Charlie lays his head in their chest. as tears start filling his eyes. 
“it makes me feel so fucking worthless…*Sobs* I don’t know what the fucks wrong with me!”
His voice is raspy from crying. Casper chokes down the tears from seeing their boyfriend like this. 
“Hey now *Sniffle* you’re gonna listen here  Charlie and you gonna listen good. You’re gonna tell that little bastard voice in your head to fuck off. And I’m gonna put a new one there! NOTHING is wrong with you! you are not broken *Sniffles* And you sure as HELL are not worthless” 
“Every time I Did something wrong! Every time I SAID something wrong, it all come flooding back….it won’t shut up it’s just keep saying it over and over and over…maybe I would be better off D-”
Casper holds Charlie’s face and looks him in the eyes, tears running down their cheeks.
“Don’t you fucking say that……you deserve to be ALIVE, and you deserve to be HAPPY. and I will tell you that till the day my heart stops fucking beating!…I will dry up every tear, I will kiss every cut, I will sit on this bathroom floor with you and let you cry out your pain until the end of time! So you can realize that!”
Casper holds onto Charlie tightly. As if he was going to blow away if they didn’t. They sit there like that wrapped in each others embrace Casper, giving soft kisses to the top of his head here and there. 
“…. I love you Casper”
“I love you too Charlie..and I’ll never stop”
Casper pick’s Charlie up much to his surprise. And walked him over to the bedroom and lays him on the bed. they then go into the closet, pulling out every soft pillow and blanket they can find. they set up the bed and get cuddled up.
“can I see your arm Chuckie?”
Charlie looks at them in confusion
“ya shouldn’t have to change the bandage yet. you just put it on there” 
He says, showing Casper his arm 
“you’re right I don’t need to change it yet”
Casper gently hold onto his arm and starts kissing it, starting at his wrist and stopping at his shoulder. Charlie looks down at them with a almost shocked expression.
“I said I would didn’t I?”
Charlie lunged forward and wrapped his arms around them. Casper returned this, and slowly started laying the both of them down. Casper hummed a familiar melody. As they slowly drifted off to sleep. 
Today was not a normal Tuesday. And that’s OK you’re going to have non-normal days. but it’s important to know that not every day will be like this abnormal Tuesday.

Generally
I think with everyone being from different time periods, they'll all have their own opinion on the whole regression thing. Though, I think Hetty would be the only one overtly weirded out by it.
I wouldn't categorize everybody into CG & regressor boxes specifically because of the whole group dynamic. They're a family one way or another!
Kids
I heavily HC Trevor as a flip! In a lot of the story lines centered around him, he deals with his actual bio childhood & and teen to young adult years. He's one of those regressors who will dip in & out of headspaces within seconds when he's emotional. Are you talking to a 6 year old who's upset about being told what to do? A teenager who knows all the words but still can't verbalize his feelings?? A 33 year old who's realizing his life may have not been as great as he thought and now struggles to adjust to new perspectives?! Yes. All of the above.
On a lighter note - I think Sam is super accepting of everything. Finds older Saturday morning cartoons to stream, tries to play games with the kids as best as she can, reads 'em stories, etc. !!
I can also see Flower teaching Hetty a thing or two about honoring and healing her inner child! Letting that little girl, who hadn't learned and didn't understand social customs yet, barrel through the hallways while playing catch - or climb up on counters and furniture just because nobody can tell her no this time !
The rest of the family
Sassapis is the resident bad influence. Especially on Trevor. He's absolutely Trevor's bonus older brother, who teaches him nothing but mischief!

Flower seems like a flip to me! More of an age dreamer than a regressor, but she did have friends who regressed while she was alive & has the most experience with it! She also keeps trying to get Thor in on the fun...if only he would stop repressing it >:[
Alberta is really fun for the kids to be around!! She'll tell them stories they've all heard a million times..but who cares! She's so good at performing and acting them out it's always entertaining. She's also a big comfort when things get rough. Somehow knows just what to say or when to scoop somebody up for a hug. Even if she herself isn't very confident about doing things right with the kids.
And..Issac just can't deal with kids. He's one of those people who absolutely does not know how to behave around children, and that extends to his friends. Not that he doesn't like them!! He's just v e r y awkward about it. Don't leave him in a room with someone regressed. He'll cry. /hj
I haven't watched this silly little show in a while but I was fixated on Trevor for a looooong time,, so most of my more specific HCs are for him JSBFEJ

15. "It’s never too early for Halloween music!"
“From my laboratory in the castle east.”
Pete’s eye twitches; it's the seventh time this song has played since he walked in the door.
It’s been an hour.
He watches his wife hum along to the world’s only Halloween song as she pours drinks and jokes around with the regulars lining the south side of the bar. He loves his wife; he’s so grateful for her love and the way she understands him. But they’re in the middle of their yearly Halloween standoff, and he has no love to spare for her at the moment.
“To the master bedroom where the vampires feast!”
Penny loves Halloween. It’s always been her favorite holiday; Pete learned that almost forty years ago when he first ran into Admiral Benjamin’s pretty daughter at the Officer’s Club Halloween celebration. She was dressed like a vampire, and he was instantly smitten, plastic pointy teeth and all. Goose made fun of him for weeks over crushing on the girl who looked like she had been in a fight, fake blood splattered all over her clothes and skin.
They had been on and off for decades, before she got married and after the divorce was finalized, but whether or not they were together, he always thought of her on Halloween. There had even been a few drunken, desperate calls on the 31st, just wanting to hear the voice of the woman he loved.
It had been something they talked about before getting back together this time, the final time, the time they got married. It had been an excruciating conversation. Pete isn’t great at expressing his feelings but tries for Penny. Admitting that he had loved her for years, but he wasn’t in a headspace where he could be there for her. It’s why he hadn’t done anything when it was announced that she was engaged to Todd.
But after the uranium mission, he started to heal. Making up with Bradley had been a big part of that. He still misses his best friends; it can be overwhelming how painful their deaths are, but it’s not as debilitating as it used to be. The healing and talking about his feelings let Penny know he was ready to be with her.
And so she was the one to propose. An early morning roll in the sheets suddenly paused as her big, hazel eyes blinked down at him, a soft look on her face that he’d never seen before. She asked, and he said yes, letting her know that if she had waited until that night, he would have asked the same question. I would have given the same answer; she has whispered against his lips as he flipped them over.
Pete had never regretted saying yes.
”The ghouls all came from their humble abodes.”
Except when it came to Halloween. Because as much as Penny loves him, she also loves to torture him. And her favorite way of doing that is by playing Monster Mash over and over again until he gives in. Every year, Pete bets her that he can make it until October 2nd without complaining about the song.
It’s been four straight years of losing.
The longest he’s made it is until three in the afternoon, but that’s only because Penny was visiting her aunt that day.
Mav has done the calculations; if he can make it through the next hour at the Hard Deck, he’ll win the bet. He can do it. This is his year. He can feel it. That new surround sound 4k television is as good as his.
“To get a jolt from my electrodes!”
Pete jumps as the entire bar starts singing along. He has no idea how, but she’s coordinated some thirty-odd strangers into joining her campaign to break him.
Unfortunately for him, it works.
“Okay! Okay! I give! Turn it off!”
“No! It’s never too early for Halloween music!”
“Penny, please-”
“They did the Monster Mash!”
The night keeps getting worse for him as his daughters - well, step-daughter and daughter-in-law - stroll into the bar, kissing him on the cheek before joining his wife next to the jukebox, all three of them dropping quarters in to keep playing the song.
A big hand slaps his shoulder. “You know, if we tried hard enough, I think we could throw that thing into the ocean. Your wife would never have to know.”
“Good thought. Penny already threatened me if I even look at it wrong.” Bradley snorts, making no effort to hide the laughter. “Yeah, go ahead - yuck it up, kid. How’s the campaign going to get your wife to take some time off before the babies come?”
“It’s not…” His nephew frowns, eyebrows furrowing as he watches Mary take a break from dancing to a song that’s thankfully not Halloween-themed, both hands supporting her lower back as she takes deep breaths. “I wish she would just sit down and relax.”
“Is she in pain?”
“No, not pain, but she’s uncomfortable most of the time, and she gets tired so easily. Her bump is making is harder to do things, but she still won’t let me help her.”
Pete hums; he’s never supported a woman through pregnancy, but he can’t imagine it’s easy for either party. “It’s gotta be difficult to lose your freedom like that. To just wake up one day and not be able to put your shoes on by yourself.”
“I know, but I just want what’s best for her and the girls.”
“Girls?” Pete echoes, his chest warming.
Bradley stiffens, eyes wide and panicky as he turns to his uncle. “You didn’t hear me say that.”
“Okay.”
“You did not hear me say that.”
“Bradley. I understood the first time. I didn’t hear it.” Both men pause, smiles taking over their faces. Pete leans in, unable to hold back his excitement. “Two girls?! Bradley, that’s amazing!”
“I’m so scared.” The big, brawny man giggles, his cheeks flushed with happiness. “Do you wanna hear their names?”
“I thought you weren’t telling anyone.”
“We aren’t.” Both men jump, Mary somehow sneaking up on them. “But we thought the grandparents would like to know before they’re born.”
“Grandparents?” Pete asks, getting choked up at the title.
“Of course, Mav. Hope the two of you are ready to be grandma and grandpa.” Bradley smiles at Penny, who has joined them.
“Oh! You two!” Penny envelopes the parents-to-be in a hug, happy tears filling her eyes.
Pete is frozen on his stool, overwhelmed and overjoyed. Just a few years ago, he thought he’d never even get to talk to Bradley again, and now he’s going to be grandpa to the next generation of Bradshaws. His chest clenches, thinking about his best friends and how they're missing another big event in their son’s life. He vows to be the best grandparent, to tell the kids all about their biological grandparents. To keep Nick and Carole’s memory alive.
“So… do you wanna know their names?” Mary asks, her cheeks pink just like her husband, smile growing as both newly minted grandparents nod. “Even before we found out what we were having, we decided that we were going to use names of people important to us. Baby A is Alice Theresa Penelope Bradshaw, named after my grandmother and you, Penny.”
“Me?” Pete holds his wife close as she blubbers, wiping her tears away.
“You’ve been like a mother to both of us, Penny. It’s the least we could do.” Mary hugs her pseudo-mother-in-law. “Do you wanna tell them Baby B’s name, honey?”
“Lily Nicola Carole Bradshaw.” Bradley rasps, blinking back tears. “For mom and dad.”
Pete pulls his son off his stool and into a tight squeeze, holding him close and whispering how proud he is of him, both laughing through tears. When he pulls back, he hugs Mary as close as he can around her six-month twin bump.
“Thank you.”
“For what, Pete?”
“Loving him.”
“It’s the easiest thing I’ve ever had to do, Mav.” Her face is serene as she pulls away. “I know things were rough for a long time between you, but I hope you know how much he loves you.”
“I do, thanks, kid.” He smiles as Bradley whisks his wife towards the jukebox, muttering something about playing their wedding song.
“Well, grandma and grandpa. Did you ever think we’d get here?”
“A few years ago, I would have said there was no way anyone would call me grandpa. But, after he met Mary, I knew it would only be a matter of time.” Pete wraps an arm around his wife, pouring love into the kiss he presses to her lips. “Hey, you’re gonna be a pretty foxy grandma.”
“Foxy?”
“Oh, yeah. Foxy. We’ll have to get you one of those necklaces.”
She blinks at his big grin, digesting the suggestion. “I’m gonna assume this is a weird reaction to the happy news.”
“Probably for the b-”
“I was working in the lab late one night!”
“Amelia!”
Pete can’t even bring himself to be mad as his entire family laughs, too excited about the future to care about the stupid song they’ve been using to torment him. He hugs his wife close as they watch Bradley and Mary tell Amelia the news, heart melting when the teenager hugs her sister-in-law before jumping into her brother’s arms.
I can’t believe this is my life… maybe Mickey can help me break the jukebox; he’s good with computers, and Penny would never suspect him.

Slarole things
She tries to kiss him Christmas 1986 but he pushes her away and says she’s not in the right headspace
She's annoyed but eventually get it, she was just trying to fill the goose shaped hole in her life
It's only 2 years later when she's still grieving but is getting sick of everything being grey so she starts forcing herself to try and feel better, goes swimming because Bradley's scared of water and won't go if she’s not there
Ron visits her after work because he's bored, they go grocery shopping and he doesn't hate it
He visits more after work, picking Bradley up or going for coffee, or even coming over for dinner
He starts developing feelings but stops himself because she’s still grieving and it's only been two and a half years and you killed her husband even if she doesn’t blame you, you still did and you were friends with her dead husband
Until after dinner, Bradley's watching cartoons, Ron's just finished helping her clean up when she comes over, says she's been enjoying spending time with him and kisses him, this time he kisses back
They start dating, he takes her out for lunch one day, he comes over to watch horror movies only for him to cower behind her. He even spends time with her and Bradley
And he stays over, a few times, more than a few, and when Bradley's in bed kisses lead to touches lead to something more, sometimes they stay making out on the couch, other times they just about stumble to the bedroom
And when he's away, she sends him letters with her perfume on it
The guys notice that he’s almost acting like Goose with his pent up lust and longing after a girl that none of them know. This sets off Iceman's alarm bells
Next, he spots Ron haggling for an ornate hair clip for Carole when they're on shore leave in the Philippines, when asking who it's for, Ron says his grandma
Carole gets said hair clip in the post a few months later when her mother and sister are around and they immediately want to know who her admirer is
Also he gets Bradley a toy which he loves
Tom sees Carole wearing the hair clip when they get back, she says it was her grandma's and he puts it all together
He corners Ron, Ron panics and admits it, Tom asks why he's hiding it and he says partially because they want to take it slow for Carole but also because he hasn't been a big relationship like this ever
Tom keeps their secret until one day when Ice and Mav are taking care of Bradley for the night, they go to drop him off only to have Slider answer the door in his pants and Carole come up behind him in his t-shirt
Mav freaks out, partially because he's the last to know but also because he doesn't like the idea of Slider dating Carole, he doesn't think he's good enough because they're only really friends through Iceman
Mav says she’s moving on too fast and she freaks out about how she's trying to be happy, trying to prioritise herself and her happiness instead of grieving someone she’s never getting back. Because she knows Goose would want her to be happy and why the hell can't she move on with someone who holds her when she cries about her dead husband and likes her son and makes her feel like she's worth it again and storms out
Slider says he knows he doesn't like him but he thought he respected Carole more than that
Pete apologises and says he just wants her to stay safe and she forgives him but there's always a little bit of tension about Carole and Slider that's there for a while
Goose comes to Slider in a dream saying he approves and as long as he looks after his family then he's happy for them, because they're becoming his family too
I have more but I'll save these for later if anyone else wants to hear them

There's this thought that came to me which I intend to explore more in a fic I'm currently writing, and it's the thought that Pete's recovery period at the safehouse must have been a very rare moment in his life when he felt... content with existing. Perhaps it's the wrong word - maybe the correct term is peaceful or calm, but I imagine it as something more fundamental than just that. I could also be wrong in general. After all, it's all conditional, isn't it? We saw how in the blood book scene, how Pete could tease Vegas but only to a certain extend before Vegas got fed up with it and kicked the book out of his handcuffed hands. Because Pete is, after all, still Vegas' prisoner. However, there's more nuance to the situation in my opinion. From the moment Pete woke up with Vegas treating his wounds and kissing a pill into his mouth, from the start of this new, weird cohabitation between them- Nothing is expected of Pete. He's not a bodyguard, so he's not expected to follow orders and die for his masters. He's also not expected to retaliate and fight against Vegas' torture and cruelty. Vegas specifically does nothing to him. He mostly just hovers around him and lets him sleep, occasionally feeding him in between:
(I could honestly argue that he's more of Vegas' pet then than at any other time throughout the story, which the scene above portrays beautifully, but I leave the pet talk to the professionals in the VP fandom lol) I don't know if I made a convincing argument about this, but I'm just so fascinated by Pete's headspace during the time period between the noodle scene and the blood book scene. What was he thinking about? What were his feelings? How weird was it for him that someone was taking care of him, nourishing him back to health? Had this ever happened before? Who did it? Was it yaai or his mother? And what would happen if he went through something similar again?

On Vegas and his hedgehogs
I have accepted it as a fact that Gun made a habit of killing Vegas' hedgehogs even when they happened to be thriving and not die on their own.
Hedgehogs were a means for Gun to keep his son trapped in a childhood headspace, in a state of blind submission to him. The way Vegas talks about hid hedgehogs to Pete in that moment of heartbreaking sincerity at the safehouse, he makes it sound like a ritual, like a bonding thing his father extended to him... effectively stringing him along and reinforcing the illusion that they are a family and for that he is owed blind loyalty. Gun knew. Gun knew fucking well that Vegas is more capable than he ever deigned to be. The moment Vegas went into hiding, the family businesses went to shit one by one and instead of being a leader and taking the reins, Gun drove a four hour roundtrip every day to hit Vegas for not being at work, being exploited like a donkey to make Gun look good. The hedgehog, while cute, is not an animal that makes a good pet. You can't just throw one in a cage with a straw and call it a day. And from what we saw in the series, Vegas kept his in a bird cage, with straw or wood shavings on the floor and fed him food in powder form. My dad has hedgehogs in his garden. They are the size of small cats and eat centipedes, worms, larvae, small mice, lizards, snakes, every bug that crosses their path and cat food they extort from my dad's cats. They are noisy, they bully animals tens of times biger than them and are the biggest Gs in that patch of land. Vegas' hedgehog did not have a single item counting towards enrichment in his cage, he had shit food and got ignored for hours and days. And it's not because Vegas didn't want to do a good job and didn't love his pet. But again, Gun held him up to the expectation that pet care goes without saying and if he is not successful at it, it's a failing on his part. And I fully believe Gun made sure all of Vegas' hedgehogs died just so he could tell his son he is so worthless and incompetent, he can't even keep a small animal alive. If he can't even do that, how can he possibly lead a large crime family? (Nevermind that Vegas is already doing that, de facto). The hedgehogs and their repeated deaths are symbolic of Vegas being kept in that state of powerlessness and self-hate so that he doesn't grow strong and into a direct threat for Gun himself. When he finds himself alone with an unconscious Pete, Vegas sees an all too known scenario play out around him. We see him tell Pete over and over that he is treating him like a pet, then panic when Pete is unresponsive after the beating. He is scared that he won't be able to help Pete, and we know Vegas has no qualms about torturing people and killing them; but with Pete it's precisely because Pete carries the pet label, Vegas gave it to him to mock him and to inform his status as a captive. Vegas knows his track record with pets is terrible and he is afraid that Pete will die because of him, by his hand and not from punishments but from Vegas' perceived incompetence. If Pete dies, it means his father is proven right yet again, in an impossible to ignore or dismiss way.
Then, when the hedgehog at the safehouse gets sick, we see Vegas sitting next to a sleeping Pete with the animal in his hands, staring at it. It's only when Pete suggests solutions that he gets into gear and decides to take the animal to the vet. As though it only occured to him that is a thing that he can do. He rushes out the door and abandons his captive and his schemes for the moment, leaving the handcuff key behind. Vegas lives within the limits his father draws up for him every day, and while he can't see the bars, the cage is always there. It takes someone else from the outside (Pete) telling him he can just open the door and walk out for him to do it. The most heartbreaking things about it are this: Gun keeps his son in this dependent state to prevent him from surpassing and likely dethroning him, and he dangles the promise and specter of family love over Vegas' head. And it works because this is all Vegas ever wanted - to be loved, even if just in that mundane way of "at least don't shoot him down before the world does" that is a minimum for a parent to do. But as we know, not only does Gun not intend to give his son a single crumb of love and acceptance, he is also incapable of those things himself, so Vegas is chasing shadows and beating himself up for nothing. The lesson Vegas is meant to learn from the hedgehogs is not how to make himself comfortable in the cage, but to see that being forgotten and neglected in a cage inevitably leads to death.

do you have a favourite portrayal of a character in the gotg game!! who is it and why <3
Oh I think they're all great honestly!!! Part of why I love the game so much is that genuinely, the whole team + supporting characters are written with such obvious love of the source material and equal attention between them all. When I see comments of people saying who their favorite character was from the game and the answer always being different from each person I'm like!! That's how it SHOULD be!!! They're the Guardians of the Galaxy (plural) the focus shouldn't all fall on a singular character like most other GotG media usually ends up as 😭
The two (sorry I can't pick just one) whom I think benefit the most from the game though are Drax and Gamora because they're almost always sidelined both in-and-out of universe by most of the various writers (especially as of late) and in turn the viewers/readers. I've been told plenty of times that they're the most boring members of the "main" team, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY! The amount of love the game versions get (by the few who've played it at least) proves that 🥺
I've never really liked 616 Drax shifting to being a complete clown during the 90s and such (and even less so when the MCU followed along 💀) So I appreciate the game taking a bit of his seriousness from the DnA run and just making him struggle with nuance and context clues in a less exaggerated way (autistic Drax I still believe in u) and I feel the focus put on him and how losing his original family + the aftermath deeply affected him hits pretty hard here because it's treated very seriously and shown in depth, especially with how his family (wife) gets actual focus. I cannot tell you anything about Yvette in comparison to Hovat, who actually seemed to have had a personality lol (AND she was on their village's council like omg imagine having more to you than just being The Housewife) Though I will say I flip and flop on my thoughts about Heather being disconnected from Drax's life in this universe... The TLDR is that I think his arc here specifically works stronger when he has to come to terms with losing his entire family and accepting the life he currently has with the Guardians. BUT!!! I very much appreciate that Heather is still confirmed to exist within this universe, even if that means her dad issues would have to be dealt with in a different context if we ever get to see her.
Also? Shoutout to the writers actually bringing up the intense paranoia that always kneecapped 616 Drax but having that be a turning point in his backstory here, with that conversation he has with Peter where he talks about how he was becoming so paranoid of everyone being a chitauri/Thanos conspirator to the point of literally turning into an obsessed maniac like Thanos, and realizing that he desperately needed to turn his life around, it's so ough.
Out of the already many great conversations throughout the game, I think the ones with him are the most poignant. My favorite scene in the whole game is Drax and Pete's little moment on Knowhere... makes me go wahhh
(l also love that out of everyone on the team, it's his headspace that we quite literally get to go into. You KNOW that if this was any other media it'd be going into Rocket or Groot's head and likely treated as a joke.)
And oh my god, Gamora...
I find it so extremely refreshing that her role in the plot doesn't revolve purely around the men in her life, and instead, it's nearly exclusively her connection with other women. Or in the most direct obstacle she has to deal with, being how she starts projecting to the millionth degree on Nikki's situation for reminding her of what happened to her and Nebula. I find that infinitely more fascinating as a reading of her character rather than just dating drama or her arc getting completely overtaken by a man's instead.
And especially in her friendship with Mantis, who, despite having all these futures she's constantly seeing and having to navigate, still makes time to do her best to help her 🥺 From saving her life and being the one who put her on the path to healing on Lamentis, to getting her to join the Guardians and still checking in on her when she's able 😭 Friendship between women can be so powerful... u love to see it (🏳️🌈)
I also find it nice that there's this emphasis on her recovering mentally, and the comparison between Thanos essentially teaching her to just Deal with the shit in her life through very simplistic meditation versus the priests of Pama actually teaching her something to help soothe the mind :^( and that she still has moments of relapsing essentially. I find that to be a realistic take on recovery because that's just part of the journey since healing is not linear... and I think it's very sweet that she finds comfort in collecting something ---girly--- like dolls. Love to see a person reclaim a part of their childhood that they weren't allowed to experience. And how she's allowed to make BAD JOKES?? Imagine a woman being written to have multiple dimensions, crazy and absolutely unthinkable, I know.
There's this extremely specific theme in relation to Gamora across media that's been rattling around in my brain since first playing the game. When near the end during the revisit to Knowhere, she's about to completely lose it when Peter tries talking -for- her on what she's so upset about before immediately shooting him down, and she explains what happened between her and Nebula and she starts crying. It really struck me right then that she's never given a moment to cry elsewhere (or in the 616's case, the quite literal inability to.) aside from her shedding a Single Manly Tear (Original Sin) or a single moment out of legit fear (MCU 💀) because she's a hashtag Strong Independant Woman who can't be vulnerable etc etc. But for her to cry in front of the people she's come to care about, It gives her a moment of true vulnerability that I don't think she's allowed ever in most other media.
That and all of the above hits hard and is what makes me genuinely believe that the writers cared about her in the narrative and tried to do right by her when every other bit of media really hasn't nor cared to the majority of the time since the 90s :'^/ Brings a tear to my eye that she's allowed to just... exist in the narrative on her own merits and not on what she can provide to someone else's story.

Strange things can happen at the end of the universe.#The end page of W&tIW 09 is the only other Gamora moment of vulnerability across media that i can specifically pinpoint#But it's more self reflection in a way of a heavily traumatic experience that I don't feel ever truly got resolved within the 616 IMO#And I find it a specific point to be made when Gamora is/isn't allowed to feel or literally denied things that are stereotypically-#-categorized as -feminine- (which is dumb to assign gender roles to a simple human emotion such as CRYING.-#-But you get what I mean I hope) We play fast and loose with gender around here pardner I think all of the gotg should cry more#but in Gamora's case specifically it Hits Different knowing her past and treatment throughout media#i could also heavily go into the way the game adapts Peter's character in relation to his element guns but that's an essay for another time#just because -i- find that extremely fascinating doesn't mean i think he should particularly be the main focus (and he isnt)#bc pete rocket and groot are the ones that already get all the attention (even if i dont agree with how they're written elsewhere)#i just find it more engaging for the other two main characters of the team that always get sidelined by the writers actually being put in-#-the spotlight with equal attention given to them for once to be sooo -shakes fist#sorry for the intense word salad i hope i make sense lol ESSAY/RANT OVER .🤐

Came up in a discussion at tonight's game- which of the back-up-there back ups would join in with the YMCA between plays (sadly neither backup joined in this evening, I was dissapoint)
I’m assuming that this takes place during a longer than normal break in play, for example one of those times where somebody finds a small hole in the ice, ¾ of the officials stand around and look at it for a bit, at least five hockey players offer helpful opinions on what they should do about it, and the DJ is trying to keep the mood up. (As opposed to a normal pause in play where the music will cut out any second once the puck drops…)
I’ve included everybody in this, because some of them start off as back-ups in the series and go on to be starters, so I’m using the context “in a game where the other goalie is starting”

Little!peter (maybe 11 or 12 y/o) struggling with low blood sugar 🫶🏻🥹
little!peter’s headspace is 11/12 but he is an adult
💗💗💗💗
It’s already past 5, and Peter hasn’t eaten since lunch. Time seemed to run away from him at college. The group assignment was stressful, and Peter had to rush to make the train home. Except, the trains weren’t going due to a system failure, so he had to walk. A lot. And now it is past 5.
When Peter finally makes it home, his head spins dangerously. He has to hold onto the wall to stop himself from falling. If his stomach wasn’t so empty, he would probably throw up.
“Pete? You home?”
Just hearing those simple words from his boyfriend makes Peter tumble into his littlespace. He sinks down to the floor with a whimper, letting Tony come find him. Peter is too small to go find Daddy himself. Daddy has to find him. And he does exactly that.
“Peter? Hey, you okay?”
“Dad-dy…” Peter whimpers. His throat grows thick and painful quickly as tears gather in his eyes. He lifts his hands to rub at his eyes.
“Hey, hey, come on. This isn’t very comfy.” Tony says, helping Peter up from the floor.
The boy continues to cry all the way to the living room and sniffles as he sits on the couch. Tony sits with him for a while comforting him, but when he hears Peter’s stomach growl, he pauses.
“Baby, you must be starving. Just sit tight and I’ll get you something.”
At first, Peter cries harder when Tony leaves him. He isn’t thinking straight anymore, and all he can think about is how miserable he feels. The hunger has kicked in fully and making him as sad as ever.
But, soon enough, Tony returns with two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and ice tea for Peter. The boy wolfs them down in a few minutes, making Tony chuckle and go made some more. After eating five sandwiches, Peter finally quiets down and rubs his nose on his sleeve. Tony shakes his head fondly and guides Peter to lay down with his head on his lap.
“Rest now, baby. I’ll be right here.”
“Daddy…”
“Shhh, baby, just rest now. Just close your eyes.”
And Peter does as his Daddy says.

Hi! I've had a difficult day and I urgently need some cute agere headcanons from my new hyperfixation!
✨️: The eltingville club, Bill Regressor and Jerry Cg! 🧡💚
I really don't know how it occurred to me but I haven't been able to stop thinking about them two, they are so cute <3
•Bill was very vocal about his regression even within the club because he was afraid to rejection, one time he unconsciously fell in front of the club after a fight with Josh, Jerry quickly comforted him by assuring him that everything would be okay.
•Josh and Pete didn't say anything about it, remaining neutral due to their little interaction with Littles but they are more patient and kind with Bill when he is in their headspace.
•Bill usually regress to 3-5, he is very bratty and usually pouts and tantrums when he is told no to something
•When he feels frustrated he usually seems more tired and less bratty, when Jerry realizes this he picks him up and makes him take a nap.
•jerrey is a very patient caregiver and never gets angry even when bill breaks a rule
•When Bill regresses, the club cancels things they had planned, because Bill's regression is usually unconscious, although Josh and Pete tend to be a little angry at first for canceling plans, then they manage to do something that Little Bill can enjoy with them.
•Once they wanted to go see a movie that they had been waiting for months but Bill fell and they had to cancel it. Bill felt bad and during his regression he was quieter than normal. The club consoled him and gave him cuddles and caresses, making Bill feel comfortable. felt better (in the end they were able to go see the movie.)
