does anyone else get that sinking feeling when a friend gets really into something you absolutely adore/have been hyperfixating on, but when you mentioned it, they ignored it (and kinda just ignore you unless and will talk over you to talk to their actual friends to the point where you're not even sure if y'all are friends or just acquaintances) and now they're really liking it and you just. want to gatekeep it bc that interest was (and is!) important to you...
or am i just being childish lol
#shut up k#forever frustrated with how people will act like they're in a clique online too#it's even more annoying when no one was mean necessarily#just kinda snubbing that same interest#and now you're like oh this is v interesting#this is about a twt only oomf btw not anyone here#or anyone on here and twt#but i'm just kinda annoyed bc like. link click was my thing#and i was so ready to share#but when i was you just straight up launched into talking over me to your other friend#it's the first time i've felt too old for that kind of drama#and you're both older than me so this really shouldn't be happening#but anyway i watched all of your favorites first and was excited about all of them to you first#and you ignored them all only to turn around and scream about them to your bsf three days later#which is cool#this is a rant i'm aware i sound childish i'm majorly stressed over an orgo final and this was my final straw#but it's also a pattern#idk the most childish part is wishing you never got into lc#bc now it's not just you ignoring me to talk about it#it's you AND your bsf#which is totally cool#i'm v cool with this#y'all are freaking 23 and i just barely turned 20 and this feels so middle school ugh

tag someone you want to know and/or some of your besties.
I was tagged by @fourth-quartet 😊 Thank you!!
favourite colour: Gray but I'm currently in a brown phase
last song: I've got recently reacquainted with Beginner by AKB48 😄
youtube
last series: The Kidnapping Day. It was a lot more wholesome than the name suggests.
last movie: Saw X (surprisingly also a lot more wholesome than you'd expect????)
sweet/savoury/spicy: Sweet :3
currently watching:
Koisenu Futari
Chains of Heart
The Golden Girls (season 1)
Love in the Air (2nd rewatch)
other stuff I watched this year: Not listing all of it here (I've never watched so much stuff as I did in 2023), but I'll mention the ones that I enjoyed watching the most from each month so far (*not including rewatches):
JAN: Wednesday
FEB: GAP
MAR: Not Me
APR: Tick, Tick... Boom!
MAY: Utsukushii Kare
JUN: Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938
JUL: Takin' Over The Asylum
AUG: Marry My Dead Body
SEP: Utsukushii Kare: Eternal
OCT: The Sandman
shows I dropped this year/didn't finish: I barely remember the ones I watched till the very end 🤡 But ok, let me see...
Eve (dropped after one episode; Rich People and their Rich People Problems™, I think was the reason)
A few straight GMMTV shows that I didn't really catch the name (I. Well. I just. I just couldn't make myself give a fuck, ok 😔)
+ Currently deliberating whether or not I should drop Chains of Heart. All the subtitles I've found are lacking in terms of coherence, and the story itself is already not the most straightforward, so I can only hope I'm understanding what's going on at all? 😀 And I'm also not feeling the main couple from either the present nor the past (? I suspect they are the same (but I may never know))... HOWEVER, I like the acting of the main, and the Thai scenario that is not Bangkok for once. That's always refreshing. And sometimes the cinematography is pretty too... Decisions, decisions...
currently listening to: Back for More by TXT & Anitta (I went after the link for it and distractedly searched for "banger" instead of the title 😆)
youtube
currently reading: Codename Villanelle (it's a small book but I'm. ..struggle)
current obsession: I'm not obsessing over anything at the moment 😟☹😫 Have been too busy with mundane adult life problems (therefore, as you can imagine, I'm just about going up the walls here :))
tagging: @eatprayworm @thisautistic @hyp-no-tic @visualtaehyun hi 👋

I had a thought about the implication faye tried to help the dwarf rebels. What if the failed coup was her finally accepting that maybe she should accept fate, at least until she changed her mind upon having Atreus/meeting kratos. Did she have a few Midgard giant friends who survived to help her with the rebellion?
Did Faye poison anyone, even an innocent dwarf, out of fear of being ratted out?
I keep thinking about that backstory and comparing it to the Korean historical drama/tragedy Whale Star, which is about a young girl caught in a crossfire between Korean rebels and Japanese colonialism/rule.
Just imagine all the tragedy as the rebellion falls apart, with durlin believing Faye ditched her comrades in arms. And Faye herself trying to save the people she loves, but they’ve either disappeared from the nine realms altogether or died, mostly died.
I keep having these ideas on how even Faye herself wasn’t really an angel/hero most characters remember her as, that she to hurt people. And I’m not just talking about her fight with Thor.
Also, I want a romance between a dwarf and a giant. Specifically a giant woman.
Okay no but it's funny you say that [fic spoilers I guess if anyone cares] because I'd actually considered the possibility of the failed uprising being Faye's "last straw" but like, in a different flavor? Because for the way I've been writing her (still don't know to what extent this is canon but it's how I've started the series so I'm sticking to it), she doesn't know about a lot of the prophecy until she's pregnant already and is by and large resistant to caring about prophecy specifically because she's seen how obsession with it ruins lives. But even if you go with that, there's major amounts of tragedy there because something like that failing so spectacularly would hurt. Like after so many failures, the giants being unable or unwilling to start their own revolt, she finally gets together enough people that maybe something can be done and...
It can't. Odin and Asgard are too strong. After that, what's the point in doing anything? Why keep struggling, when it just ends in failure? So for the way I was picturing it, it's less about the prophecy and more like the helplessness of fighting against a much stronger opponent and how that can wear you down over time.
100% agreed about her not having been the perfect angel/hero, though, like my girl definitely had some rage issues and I feel like a lot of even her heroic actions could be read as reckless and self-destructive (that's how I've been reading them lol). And I really think that works because besides just making her more two dimensional, it's a great parallel to Kratos? And would explain why she was so willing to take a chance on him (regardless of when you personally think she knew about the prophecy). She's been there. She knows.
(Also I choose to believe that most dwarves who knew Faye were in love with her lmao, IDK if I can picture her reciprocating due to my own headcanons about her headspace at the time but they definitely were. Like I write her and Sindri as platonic but it was really only 95% platonic let's be real with ourselves-)
#long post#asks#gennethapang#also I've never heard of whale star but that sounds neat!!#I feel like I need to get into k dramas one day#my to-watch list is just neverending

so high school l spencer reid x fem!reader
warnings/tags: non, fluff, fem!reader, there's one use of 'lady' but other than that its gn, bau!reader (kinda) qord count: 1625 a/n: i legit cannot stop listening to so high school by ts so this is what my brain has pooped out, i've written two based on ttpd but I'm not happy with the other one yet. lmk what you think :))))
Sometimes when you looked at Spencer Reid, you thought how did this man ever look twice at you. How did he ask you of all people out on a date? Everytime he looked at you, you felt as though you were in some k drama and the blossom trees were going to start shedding their petals, as you wandered down the street hand in hand, music would start playing as he gazed at you with those honey brown eyes.
Of course that never happened, it didn't stop you from going red every time he looked at you. He made you feel like you had a schoolgirl crush on him. Blushing, giggling, kicking your feet and talking to your friends about him. Making up code names so he'd never know you were talking about him. Letting them know every small thing he did because he made your heart stop.
It could be him holding the door for you as you walked into the bullpen, or holding out a hand for you as you both stepped off the jet, or how he'd let you lean on his shoulder on the jet while you slept, his hands running through your hair, not caring if anyone was watching him or seeing the interaction, it always made them smile.
He felt like Prince Charming to your Cinderella.
You weren't always so infatuated by him that it caused your brain to break. Most of the time, being with him felt like a breath of fresh air. A calm would come over you where you both could sit in each others arms while doing your own thing.
Then there were times like these.
It was a small abrupt gathering, JJ had already walked down the aisle. Everyone was mingling, drinks were pouring. Penelope had caught your arm before you could make your way inside. "I want a dance."
Who were you to ever deny Penelope?
You both span in obnoxious circles, laughing with your head thrown back as you twirled her out and pulled her back in. Both of you swayed to the lighter music together. "187 is looking at you as if you placed the moon in the sky." She whispered.
Your head turned to look in Spencer's direction. His eyes were soft trailing up you as you swayed. He was in a conversation with Derek but his eyes weren't moving from you. Finally, he landed on your eyes and you looked away red, hiding your face from him.
"You both make me jealous." Penelope giggled. "Why are you blushing? He's already your boyfriend."
"I don't know." You whispered back as if you were telling her a secret. She shook her head smiling. "He's so handsome, I can't help it."
"And you are gorgeous, don't you forget it." She raised an eyebrow at you, you nodded. "Now I won't apologise. Just letting you know." Your eyebrows scrunched in confusion.
Suddenly, the women twirled you out, letting go of your hand, and causing you to stumble into familiar arms. "Caught you." He whispered causing you to let out a laugh.
"Thank you." You weren't meeting his eyes as you both swayed. His right hand was placed at your waist, pulling you flush against him. You placed your forehead against his shoulder, giggling under the twinkling lights.
"What's so funny?" He asked, tilting his head down to nudge yours. You shook your head, not wanting to meet his eye.
His hand slid from the side of your waist to your back, causing you to squeak. His hand that was holding yours, started entwining your fingers together. "You look beautiful." He mumbled into your hair.
"You do too." You whispered back, your arm pulling him closer, you looked up at him, seeing him staring down at you. "Dr Reid, don't look at me like that." You laughed, leaning back down to hide your face as it grew warm.
"How could I not? You're my pretty lady" He kissed the side of your head. "And that dress looks magnificent on you." He whispered. You roll your eyes, laughing as he twirls you out and pulls you flush again.
Finally, you were looking at him, wide smiled at his antics. "You've bewitched me, every time I look at you, I turn to mush."
"You do?" He asked raising an eyebrow. "What do you think you do to me? I've never felt speechless before I met you. My brain stops running, you're my kryptonite." You kissed his cheek at the comment. "Would you like to go home?"
You looked around the room, the party seemed to be finally dying down, Henry was already asleep over two chairs. Hotch was holding a sleeping Jack in his arms, he was saying his goodbyes. You nodded at Spencer who smiled.
Goodbyes didn't take long. Spencer didn't hesitate to grab your hand as you walked towards his car. You shivered at the cold. He opened the car door for you before rushing around to the driver's seat. You blushed again at the small gesture. He smiled at your flushed face as he entered the car.
Spencer Reid was the epitome of a walking daydream.
You'd lay your head in his lap as you watched an episode of Doctor Who, he played with your hair absently. "What you thinking about?" He'd ask.
"About how we met." You replied.
"And how did we meet?" He asked with a small smile.
"Mr Eidetic memory doesn't remember?" You asked sarcastically and he leaned down to kiss your forehead.
"Jog my memory." He whispered.
"Well it was my first day-"
"Thursday June 6th 2007" He added. You scowled at him.
"Am I telling the story or you?" You asked huffing and he chuckled before becoming quiet to continue. "Anyway, it was my first day...
You stood outside the lift, biting your lip anxiously. The BAU, it was a bigger promotion than you were imagining when they said you'd be promoted. Of course, you had the qualifications for it, you knew you deserved it but there was still the small part of your brain that was telling you that you were in the wrong place.
As you entered the lift and clicked 6 the doors started shutting only for an arm to stop them before they fully shut. It caused a slight bang, in entered Dr Spencer Reid who was red-faced, hair nearly up to his shoulders. He saw your face going more red.
He was dressed in a white button up shirt, a brown vest, and a tie to match. Black slacks that when he turned you forced yourself not to check him out.
"You definitely checked me out." He cut off your story. "No way you didn't take a peak at my ass." You rolled your eyes smacking his arm. "Okay go on."
You definitely took a peak but you forced yourself to stare at the back of his head instead. His hair was curly and honey coloured as if he'd gotten highlights, but you could tell it was natural.
Hotch introduced you to everyone quickly. Spencer continued to pretend you did not exist throughout the entire case, you were 100% sure he hated you for some reason, maybe it was the cheeky peak at his ass. Maybe, he had eyes at the back of his head in that lift and saw you being a pervert.
"Okay, let me tell you what actually happened, because you are definitely telling it wrong." You laughed at his offence at what you were saying.
Spencer stopped the lift before it could close fully, he was red in the face from the embarrassing noise the lift made. It only got worse when he saw you in the lift. You looked like you'd just witnessed a comedy show.
"I did not, I'm pretty sure I was too anxious to laugh at you." You scoffed at his lies. He shushed you to continue.
He only caught a glimpse of you as he turned into the lift, he could tell you were beautiful, his heart was raising from that little interaction and it was as if he could feel your gaze on him which made the entire interaction even more embarrassing.
Hotch introduced you into the team. He knew if he tried to speak to you it would probably sound like a bunch of word vomit. You were magnificent, it was as if every time you looked at him every cell in his body stood in anticipation waiting for your next move. The subconscious part of his mind thought you were thinking about how embarrassing it was in the lift.
You were brilliant, smart, talented, a mean shot with a gun, they had their own sniper if needed, and you thought in ways no one did. You were a breath of fresh air onto the team, not to mention your smiles and silly jokes you'd make to try to get a reaction out of him. Derek would flirt with you and you always insulted him back which made him extremely nervous to even try.
Then, you started complimenting his outfits, listening to him intensely, never telling him to stop talking. You'd find his jokes funny, throwing your head back as if they were the funniest thing you'd ever heard. You even brought him of coffee just how he liked it. He knew if he asked, it could ruin everything. You could destroy him in one word. But, you didn't, you jumped at the opportunity to go on a date with him.
"You know I waited for months." You rolled your eyes. he was looking down at you with fond eyes. "Took your sweet time."
"Well I've got you now, and I'm not letting you go." He smiled, leaning down to kiss your lips.
"Neither am I." You giggled, leaning up to deepen the kiss.

I Loved You Too Early
Summary: You've been admiring the captain of the prominent football team in your school, whom you secretly admiring from afar. You thought he was out of your reach until you saw him studying in your brother's room. Genre: brother's best friend, slow-burn Pairing: Non-idol! Jungwon x Fem! Reader Word count: Part I: 11,432k; Part II: 14,297k (Overall: 26,179k) Chapters: 10 (Completed) (divided in two parts) Warnings: This is heavily inspired by the Chinese drama 'Hidden Love' so there's a big resemblance, age gap (5 years difference), unrequited love, a little bit of sprinkle of angst, fluff, time skip, just a teeny-weeny bit of fist fighting (but not too much!), and not solid proof-read because its too long (╥﹏╥). Author's Note: I apologize for being gone for a year (⭑•͈ 𓎟 •͈ ). While working on this, I suddenly became so busy with college that I decided to put it on hold. Now that I've graduated and started working in corporate, my responsibilities have doubled or even tripled, and I completely forgot to continue this. (◞‸ ◟) However, in the past few days, I've been motivated to finally finish it. ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´- This was supposed to be in a longer format, but I decided to divide it into two parts so you can take breaks without missing where you left off. Thank you all for patiently waiting! I hope you'll enjoy this one as well. Enjoy!
PART I PART II
Chapter One
You don't know exactly when your dull world was invaded by an unexpected rhythm that made your whole world sway in unending swirling motions.
When did your pulse start to waltz to the beat of an unknown tune, or when did your heart seem to pound louder than before, like a drum heralding the arrival of a marching band.
At first, these sensations frighten you, as you thought you were experiencing early symptoms of heart disease since your heart was not beating normally.
But this unfamiliar heartbeat, the strong and powerful thump of your heart, doesn't hurt; instead, it is sweet, pleasant, and almost comforting.
Then it hit you like an epiphany.
The erratic rhythm of your heart wasn't a medical heart disease at all, but an emotional one.
The strange heartbeat wasn't a signal of a heart condition—it was the throbbing pulse of attraction, of affection, of something you had never felt before:
Love.
A feeling that is often described as an intense, affectionate concern for another individual or object. It is one of humanity's most profound emotions, embedded in both our psyche and our essence.
They said that love's profound complexity underscores its paradoxical nature; you have to—
'pay attention'
—pay attention to recognize it as an emotion that deserves—
'Y/N'
—respect, care and openne—
"Nishimura Y/N!"
Your eyes immediately snapped open when you heard the scream of your name, making you bolt upright from your productive daydreaming.
You quickly blink your eyes to adjust your vision from the blurriness brought on by your deep slumber.
As you tried to shake off the sleepiness, your eyes settled on the person standing in front of the blackboard, brows furrowed, glaring at you with irritation.
You immediately stood up like a soldier from your chair, making a loud screeching noise from the abrupt motion.
"You're not paying attention in my class, Ms. Y/N." Your math teacher pointed out the obvious when she got you caught slacking off in her subject.
Your face burned hotter than a thousand suns, and your ears tingled with embarrassment. The usual supportive wall of the classroom felt like it bows inward, ready to collapse on you.
"I-I'm sorry, Mrs. K-kim" You bowed as you stammered an apology, voice barely audible.
You kept your head down, feeling the sudden shame creep in your body when you saw everyone in the class watching you.
Their interest was now directed from the perplexing equations on the board to the scene unfolding at the back.
"I expect all of you to respect the time I put into preparing lessons and the class itself. If you have issues staying awake in my class, especially you, Ms. Nishimura," you flinched at the mention of your family name.
"I suggest you try to figure out the equation for resolving that issue before you start learning about algebra," she continued, her gaze firmly locked with yours while her face was void of any emotion.
The snickers from your classmates were almost as unbearable as the chasing glare from Mrs. Kim. She let out a disappointed sigh before deciding to continue the discussion.
You slowly sat back on your chair, still red with embarrassment, knowing that this unforgettable scene would become classroom lore, a tale that would inevitably follow you through the rest of your middle school year.
"Someone stayed up all night reading manga again." Chunso, one of your bestfriend, teases you after the math class ends.
"Is it my fault that her voice sounds like a lullaby?" You pouted while putting all your things in your bag.
Well, it's true.
Mrs. Kim, who had been teaching for thirty good years, had a voice with a subdued resonance, softer than silk yet harder than rock.
It was a perfect lullaby for you when the math equations emerged with her voice, creating a hypnotic sonata of numbers.
"Really?" He deadpanned. "You're going to blame her voice when your thick eyebags already speak for you that you haven't had enough sleep?" he playfully flicked your forehead, making you whine. "You're lucky she didn't put you in detention."
You continued to pursed your lips and decided not to comment on anything since it was really your fault for spending the rest of your night reading Shounen manga until dawn, leaving you only 4 hours of sleep.
And so you thought of sneakily using the time in math class to take a short nap, but that short snooze took you to dreamland, completely sweeping you off from reality.
Then you get caught.
If only the first letter in Chunso's last name is closer to yours, then there's a big chance he'll be your seatmate, which will help you prevent getting caught.
But you were so unlucky, as he was in the front row while you were in the last.
"Oh, what happened to her?" your other bestfriend, Eunhee, asked when she saw you sulking while clinging to Chunso's arm.
Unfortunately, she's not in the same class as you and Chunso, so you all just meet in the hallway every lunch break.
"Got caught sleeping." You hide your face behind Chunso's arm when you feel another wave of embarrassment hit you. You also expected a row of teasing words from her, but instead, you were embraced by a warm arm around your shoulder with a gentle rub on your arm.
"Did you get detention?" You looked up to her and shook your head in response.
"Then there's nothing to be worried about," she consoled, offering you a comforting smile that wipes your shame away.
You let go of Chunso's arm and cling your arms around her.
You wanted the rest of your high school journey to be quiet and unnoticed, your presence a mere ripple in the grand ocean of faces. But, as luck would have it, today you were scolded in front of 35 students.
"Aigoo, my little sister had a rough day." She coos while patting your head gently. Even though she was only four months older than you, she always considered you her younger sibling, as she never had one.
"Yah! Did you tease her about it?" Eunhee's soft voice was quickly replaced with a loud, arrogant one when her attention went back to Chunso.
"I didn't!" Chunso defended, his eyes suddenly finding the floor interesting as he tried to avoid the scrutinizing eyes of his friend.
You felt Eunhee's hand stop patting your head when she sensed that he was lying. Suddenly, Chunso yelped in pain. You looked up and saw her pulling the boy's poor hair.
You let out a giggle at your two friends acting like they were going to make each other bald by snatching each other's hair.
You take hold of their arms and gently remove their holds on both of their hair.
"It's okay, I'm good now," you assured them while softly fixing their messy hair. You might get teased about what happened earlier, but at least it leaves you with a lesson to learn to balance your time to avoid getting sleepy in class.
Your genuine smile partnered with the softness in your eyes removes their worries.
Ever since your friendship bloomed after you helped the two treat their wounds after the incident in your PE class in 4th grade, they have always stuck with you and considered you their precious little sister that they needed to protect.
So, the thought that you might get teased about the humiliating situation concerns them.
"Let's have lunch!" You excitedly exclaim and drag them with you as you cling to their arms.
Chunso and Eunhee shared a look while they let you yank them to the cafeteria, a silent agreement that your lunch is on them to brighten the rest of your day.
After the delightful lunch break that you have with your friends, which they surprise you with a once-a-month sale of bacon croque monsieur in the cafeteria along with a legendary chocolate mousse that makes you jump from happiness, you shortly parted ways with them as you are instructed by your teacher to get some books from the library that will be used in your class activity.
As you walk through the empty hallways, with the crisp pages and musty scent of the books accompanying you, something catches your peripheral vision.
Across the dusty path to your next class, you saw a spectacle unfolding on the bustling football field.
Captivated by the sudden burst of energy from the loud cheering, you rubbed your eyes and squinted through your glasses, pausing your hurried steps.
From your point in the hallway, you can see a group of people energetically playing football, and the scene looks like a small showdown.
You were never the biggest football fan, but you could at least appreciate the smooth precision of their passes.
With a further inspection from your spot, you could make out why a handful of spectators and students are basking in the afternoon sun when you see some of the players wearing the most famous navy blue and white striped jersey.
The group that clad themselves in that jersey were not just average students; they were the revered football team of your school.
The Nightball Team.
Ever since the establishment of the Nightball Team, it has consistently reigned supreme, its renown spreading far beyond the city.
The team is born out of a unique blend of teamwork, discipline, ambition, and a fierce drive for continuous development.
Making them act as an emblem representing not just the school but the principles its students stand for.
Every time the name of your school is mentioned, the Nightball Team is always the first thing that comes to everyone's mind.
That's how famous they are.
Amidst the navy blue and white-soaked jerseys, a certain person caught your attention. His physique was chiseled, his movements defying time as he led the team with an innate confidence that was as charming as it was stirring.
His jersey number 04, clung to his athletic body as he ran, skillfully dodging the opponents while carrying the ball that was tucked in his arm. Each tactical maneuver, every calculated move, displayed an enchanting dance of dominance and tenacity.
Then it happened—Nightball Team scored, erupting a loud cheer from the crowd.
As the dust settled around him, he looked up, his face breaking into a humble, triumphant grin that lit up his eyes.
It was as if the Earth rotated a little slower, distorted only by the increased pace of your heart.
Ah, now you remember when did your heart started to act out like a drum roll, jumping to the beat like a fool.
It was when he humbly acknowledged a job well done, his genuine joy for the game, and the soft crinkles around his eyes as he gently smiled while everyone praised him for scoring the goal.
That was the moment when you felt it for the first time—your stomach fluttering like there was a swarm of butterflies lodged in there, and your heart skipped a beat—for the first time, not for the new volume of Shounen Manga
but for someone else.
A peculiar sensation that only happens because of him.
Only because of him.
Chapter Two
As everyone in the class attempts to pay attention, the warm sunlight flowing through the classroom window did little to improve the class' concentration.
The monotone voice of your teacher talking about some dead men who died in a fight hundreds of years ago slowly puts everyone to sleep.
It was another ordinary Wednesday for the rest of the students, but for you, it was unimaginably extraordinary.
Before, there was no particular day that seemed special for you.
It was all just ordinary that you have to get through—well, except for Sunday, since that's the scheduled release for each chapter of the manga you are currently binge-reading.
However, after you learned that every Wednesday was the Nightball Team's practice in the field, it became a day that you always looked forward to.
The day when you can only see him.
It's unexplainable how his humble smile, which makes his dimples dig deeper into his natural rosy cheeks while his eyes form a crescent moon, can catch not only your attention but also your very young heart.
Maybe you were simply mesmerized by a man who wore the number 04 jersey, even though you didn't know his name.
You tried everything you could to know his name; you tried to dig through the old school newspapers that you sometimes kept to solve the sudoku part and re-read the sports section in the hope his name would be mentioned.
You also tried to go to your school's website, searching for him by using the Nightball Team's name in the search engine, which is always a hot topic on the website, but surprisingly, you were still left wondering what his name was.
The two options that you chose to know who is the mysterious jersey number 04 are the best choices that you could have since that's all you can do.
However, you still have one good option left.
The best option that will surely secure the chance of knowing his name.
But no matter how great this option was, you would rather get embarrassed again in the class than choosing it.
Asking your brother.
Your brother, Ni-ki Nishimura, who is part of the baseball team, is the best option to ask anything about sports, as he has been athletic and very knowledgeable in that area ever since you were both children.
He is a born sports prodigy.
Besides being part of the sports club at your school, he also has a huge number of friends, not only on his team but especially on the football team.
You don't know why, because the last time you checked, baseball and football are different sports, but your brother appears to be much closer to the members of the Nightball Team than his.
He really is the best choice to finally name the one you are admiring if he is not only a pain in the ass.
Despite your family's crowning him a prodigy and naturally talented, he is always the annoying and bloody irritating brother in your eyes.
He will literally make fun of your desperate mission of knowing the name of a particular person on the football team.
Heck, he might give you the wrong name just for fun.
However, that is not the worst thing that might happen if you ask him something that will give him a hint that you have developed a sudden interest in someone, especially if that someone is the opposite gender from you.
He will explode.
Your brother, who is five years older than you, has the tendency to become very protective when it comes to you.
He might be an obnoxious and nosy brother, but he has a soft spot for you that he cannot admit.
He will do everything to protect you, especially your heart, from men.
Therefore, if he finds out that you are growing admiration for someone, especially in the Nightball Team, he will literally ban you from going to the football field.
You sigh as you scribble his jersey number in your notebook while the boring class continues.
The bell signaling the end of the class of the day rang, making your mood reach the ceiling of happiness. The usual fidgeting in your seat to the rhythm of the clock turned into a wild scramble as you packed up your textbooks and pencil case into your bag.
You rush out of the classroom with thoughts of finally watching a football practice occupying your mind.
But before you could fully get out of the room, you felt a tug on your bag forcefully stop you in your tracks.
"What's with the rush?" Chunso asked still holding your bag.
"I-I'm going to the l-library!" You exclaim as you stumble over your words. Your friend's eyes immediately narrowed into slits when he sense you are making excuses.
"What will you do there?" he interrogates, as it was unusual for you to go to the library after class since you were always eager to go back home to spend the rest of your day reading manga.
"To study, o-of course," you said, forcing a smile in the hopes he would buy your alibi. However, it just proved his suspicion that you are hiding some information that you don't want him to know.
"Hmm." Your smile slowly faded when you realized he didn't believe you. You sigh in defeat.
"I promise that I'm not doing anything bad." You raised your pinky at him as an assurance to ease his worries.
Chunso was still observing you, looking for any hint of lying. He then let out a sigh, seeing the sincere look behind your words.
"You promise to message me and Eunhee when you get home," he said, raising his pinky. A big smile made its way into your face, brightening your mood.
Even though Chunso is not entirely convinced to let you go since you didn't tell him the real reason why you don't want to go home yet, he still trusts you that you're not doing anything behind their back that will make them worried.
You tightly cling your pinky to his, sealing it with both of your thumbs touching.
"I promise!"
After saying goodbye to Chunso, you immediately skip your way to the football field with so much giddiness. Each step you take intensifies your excitement as you are finally able to watch the practice match of the Nightball Team without using the view from the hallway.
You spot an empty seat that is secluded from the rest of the bleachers, although it is far away from the field where the players play, it is still enough for you to cheerfully cheer for your jersey number 04 without being noticed.
The crowd suddenly screamed with excitement when the players of the Nightball team showed up on the field. Your eyes started to scan the players, finding the specific person who always filled your sketchbook and slowly became your favorite muse.
It was as if your world had suddenly slipped into slow motion, and all the noises were muted when you saw him walking with confidence in the field—everything but him and his bright smile faded away.
You held your chest when you felt your heart skip again in a beat that only he could make.
Each time he ran across the field, swinging the ball with finesse, you would do a small victory dance in your heart. You watched every move, every goal, every mistake he made, and still supported him while your hand was busy sketching every movement he made and leaving small comments of amazement beside your sketch.
You would also offer whispers of encouragement, muffled applause, and silent woohoo with your heart thumped in silent cheer.
As the sun went down and the practice match ended, you found a sense of fulfillment you had rarely felt before. You hadn't elbowed your way through the fanatic crowd or screamed your lungs out, but something told you that you cheered the loudest.
It feels like you were bewitched by his enchanting display of professionalism and respect for the game, that you always find yourself in the same seat every week, watching him with full admiration in your eyes.
Your heart fluttered as you headed home while reminiscing the practice match you watched earlier, already dreaming of the next Wednesday when you could watch your jersey number 04 playing on the field again.
"Practice match?" Your mom spoke once you entered the house.
She's the only one who knows that you always watch the football practice, as you can never lie to her. Somehow it makes you guilty because your mom thought you were just growing a fascination with that sport, not knowing you're only there for a certain person.
"Yep!" You sneakily grab a slice of fruit in a bowl that your mom passionately peeled and cut into pieces. "But I went to Eunhee's house to do our assignments."
The football match ended much earlier than usual; sometimes it takes two to three hours, but today they concluded the practice for an hour, giving you time to drop by Eunhee's house when she invited you and Chunso to do your homework there, although you three only ended up watching movies instead of doing it.
You were about to get another slice of fruit when your mother gently slapped your hand, stopping you from getting more.
"You're going to be full before you can get dinner. Go to your room to wash up and call your brother; we will have dinner in a minute." She ushered as you pouted and sulkingly went upstairs, making your mom shake her head at your sillyness.
Then she remembered something.
"Ah, bring down your brother's friend as well!!" she yelled from downstairs, muffling her voice in the process as you entered your room, making you not hear the rest of her words.
"Nii-san, we're going to eat" You called outside your brother's room, clad in your blue Cinnamoroll print pajamas after you wash up.
"Riki-niisan!" You knock on his door repeatedly when he doesn't respond, making your cheeks puff in annoyance.
"I'm going to your room if you don't come out," you threatened, knowing your brother doesn't like you setting foot in his room.
You rolled your eyes and barged into his room, kicking the door open.
"Nii-chan! What's taking you so long!?" You screamed at the top of your lungs with both of your hands resting on your hips.
You expect to see him playing PlayStation while wearing his headphones, the reason he couldn't hear you calling because of the noises in the game, but instead, you are greeted with a familiar pair of Boba eyes staring at you.
You furrowed your eyebrows, squinting your eyes in the process to get a better look at the person sitting on the chair, as you forgot to wear your glasses.
He's definitely not your brother, as his eyes were sharper, contrasting to the softer eyes of this person in front of you.
You take a step closer to see his face, which is still blurry in your vision.
On the other hand, the boy suddenly felt amused at how you tried to scrutinize him. He couldn't help but chuckle when you got even closer.
You were taken aback when he suddenly let out a soft laugh. His dimples appeared on his left cheek with his eyes turning to a crescent moon.
Your eyes slowly went wide when you finally got familiar with those traits that make your heart do summersaults.
You suddenly felt frozen in your position when it slowly registered to you, who were occupying the study table of your brother, surrounded by papers and textbooks that were neatly organized on top of the desk.
You stumbled aback.
How on earth did your nameless jersey number 4 end up in your brother's room?!
Chapter Three
When God decided to create you, he probably accidentally poured too much embarrassment into your basin of personality, or when heaven decided to shower humiliation, you caught all of it as it became a frequent situation that always happened to you.
What's worse is that it happens in front of a person for whom you are developing intense admiration!
You dove into your bed, your face buried deep in your pillow. You gave a mighty inhale and unleashed a deafening scream into its soft embrace while your feet kicked with frustration.
You can bear to get embarrassed again in front of your classmates while your raging teacher scolds you, but not in front of your jersey number 4!
Your first encounter with him wasn't imagined this way; in fact, you didn't have a plan to talk to or be involved with him because you only wanted to admire him from afar.
Still! You had expected to meet him more decently, not while scrutinizing him with squinted eyes in your printed pajamas!
God! You can't imagine how unpleasant you look with your eyes squinting to make your vision clearer with your nose crunching in the process!
"Y/n-chan" You suddenly stop your antics when you hear your brother calling you outside your room. You stay buried in your pillow waiting for him to speak again.
"I'm hungry. Let's go downstairs to eat." Normally, you would straight-up come out of your room and sprint down the stairs, racing your brother ahead to prevent him from getting most of the food that your mother had prepared.
But now, you just want to stay in your room and pray for it to disappear.
"I'm not hungry," you said with a tinge of lack of enthusiasm in your voice.
Although your voice is quite muffled by your pillow, your brother on the other side of the door can clearly sense that you're not in your usual mood.
His brows furrowed.
Ni-ki's sure that he heard you earlier screaming his name at the top of your lungs while he was in the shower, certainly ready to annoy him again. But now, you're acting like your energy suddenly got sucked out of your whole body.
"Really? Mom cooked Oyakodon." He made sure that you heard the last part, knowing that it was your favorite and that it would be hard for you to refuse not to eat. "If you don't come down at any moment, I'm going to eat all of it."
Ni-ki expected the door to burst open and you to rush down the stairs to prevent him from hogging all the meals for himself; however, he was greeted by a different response.
"Hmm, okay" Your muffled hum is his cue to storm inside your room.
"Okay, what's going on with you, brat?" he demandingly asked. Ni-ki might sound annoyed at your unusual antics, but in reality, he was worried and now started racking his head if he did something that made you upset.
He snatches the pillow where your head is buried when you don't reply to his question, making you groan and kick your feet in annoyance.
"Seriously, what's wrong?" Ni-ki slightly cringed when his voice suddenly sounded soft, wishing you hadn't heard it.
He proceeded to touch your forehead, checking your temperature to see if you had gotten sick, to which you only whined and smacked his hand away. Your brother sighed.
"If you have no plan to eat, at least tell mom. She even made an effort to make a big serving of your favorite dish just for you."
Your body went still at what your brother softly said.
Since childhood, your parents have always reminded you of the importance of being grateful for all aspects of life, especially the food that graces your table.
Having been born and raised in Japan, you've been instilled with a deep reverence for food to express your appreciation for the hard work of the farmers and the dedication of those who prepare your meals.
Out of guilt, you found yourself sitting at the dining table savoring your favorite Oyakodon while trying to resist stealing glances at the person seated across from you, right beside your brother.
If it were any ordinary day, you'd likely be devouring your meal with gusto, prompting your mother's gentle reminders to slow down.
But today was different.
The presence of the boy who made your heart race like a runaway train transformed your mealtime into a royal feast, leaving your brother to cast perplexed glances your way, baffled by your another uncharacteristic behavior.
"Did you like the food, Y/n-chan?" your father asked when he also noticed that you weren't eating as usual. You wanted to scold your father for mentioning your name, as you felt all the eyes, including the adorable boba eyes, looking at you.
You wanted to say something, but you were afraid that when you spoke, his eyes would linger on you, making you feel another wave of shame. So, you nodded in response without lifting your head and continued looking at your food.
Your parents looked at each other with worry in their eyes, wondering what had happened to their precious, bubbly daughter.
You felt a hand gently rubbing against your back, making you look at your mother, who was beside you.
"Go finish your food so you can have a rest. I'm going to make you green tea later to help you feel better, hmm?" You felt your eyes slightly water as your mom gently cared for you.
Your guilt increased as they thought you were feeling under the weather when, in fact, you were just shy and embarrassed because your jersey no. 4 was on the same table as you.
"How about you, Jungwon? Did you like the food?" Your ears perked up as you looked in his direction when your mother called his name.
His name is Jungwon?
Your heart pounded in your chest, and a mix of excitement and giddiness coursed through your veins. The name resonated with you in a way you couldn't understand.
His name could be translated to "garden," a fitting name that perfectly describes the feeling you experience every time you see him.
Comfort.
"It always tastes good, Mrs. Nishimura. Thank you so much for the wonderful meal." He replied genuinely with a smile.
'Always? This isn't his first time here?' You unconsciously frowned.
Jungwon looked your way, making your eyes widen due to the unexpected eye contact. You quickly looked down at your plate to avoid his gaze, feeling your cheeks burn, with a lasting redness that stayed through the end of dinner.
You weren't sure whether you would be happy to return to your room and continue to privately revel in your embarrassment or disappointed that dinner had passed so quickly.
As you helped your mom with the dishes, you overheard Jungwon expressing his gratitude to your father for inviting him to dinner as they arranged the table.
A sign that he was about to leave.
"Can you send Jungwon to the door, Y/n-chan?" Your mother's request caught you slightly off guard. You had the urge to decline and come up with an excuse, but the guilt of lying to your mother again held you back.
Reluctantly, you found yourself nodding and accepting the request.
A sigh of relief washed over you when your brother also joined you in sending Jungwon off. However, your relief quickly faded when your brother jokingly rushed out the door, leaving Jungwon behind and you alone with him in the genkan as he put on his shoes.
As you stood by the front door, an awkward silence hung between the two of you. You avoided making eye contact, and as Jungwon prepared to leave, you muttered a shy goodbye.
Throughout dinner, Jungwon had been bothered by your quietness and avoidance of eye contact. It led him to believe that he had made you uncomfortable, especially after your encounter with him in Ni-ki's room that made you dash out of your brother's room.
Ni-ki's comment about you acting unusually and not being in the mood for dinner further supported his belief that he had made you uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable tonight," he softly said, his voice tinged with worry, making your brows furrowed in confusion.
"I'm sorry if I laughed earlier; I didn't mean it in a bad way," Jungwon continued as he scratched the back of his head awkwardly. He thought that his chuckles over your actions were the reason why you got uncomfortable.
Your heart sank when you realized that your actions during dinner had made him think that you were offended by him and that his presence made you uncomfortable.
You quickly shook your head, desperately wanting him to understand the truth. "No, no, there's nothing to apologize for! I assure you, you didn't make me uncomfortable. I'm just naturally shy."
Relief washed over his face as he let out a breath he seemed to have been holding. "Really? I thought I made you upset."
"Not at all. I just felt embarrassed because I didn't know Ni-chan had a guest, and I didn't greet them properly." You couldn't help but puff your cheeks when you felt another wave of shyness as you looked down at your fiddling fingers.
A smile crept onto Jungwon's face, making his eyes soften. "It's okay, I know you were just surprised. No need to get embarrassed."
A surge of warm feelings engulfed your heart when you heard his gentle reassurance. You really wanted to look at him, but you were afraid that he'd see the redness in your cheeks that reflected your true feelings for him.
Your thoughts were cut off when you saw his hand offered towards you. You try to swallow your fears and find a courage to slowly looked up from his hand to his face.
You could almost hear your heart pound with fervor, like a wild drumbeat in harmony with your emotions, when you saw him closely with a soft expression paired with a gentle smile, making his dimple make another appearance.
"Hello, I'm Yang Jungwon, your brother's friend." Your eyes almost welled up when you realized that he was making you forget the embarrassing first encounter by redoing it as if you had just met each other.
You softly smiled and took his hand in a handshake. You felt a sudden spark of electricity shroud your body because of the contact.
"I'm Nishimura Y/n, Riki-nii's sister." Jungwon's eyes formed into crescent moons when you accepted his gesture of starting over. Although he already knew a little about you because of your brother, it was still nice to finally meet his friend's sister whom the latter always talked about adorably.
"Nice meeting you, Y/n." He started shaking both of your hands as if sealing a deal, making you giggle.
"Nice meeting you too, Jungwon nii-san."
Chapter Four
You thought that your feelings for Jungwon wouldn't blossom any further, but you were proven wrong when you found yourself researching nutritious foods appropriate for a football player that can boost his energy during practice games, instead of focusing on your homework.
Never in your life did you imagine that there would be a day when it's your turn to give someone a gift to show your appreciation, just like your schoolmates in 6th grade used to do for their crushes—a gesture you often found cringy before.
Yet now, you're going to do it as well.
Football season is just around the corner, making the Nightball Team busier with their practice. Hence, you see this as an opportunity to support Jungwon by providing snacks and bottles of energy drinks anonymously.
You know how intensely athletes practice during the game season, as you've witnessed it to your brother.
To help their bodies keep up with the rigorous training, nutritious foods are very essential.
As you stroll around the convenience store with a basket in hand already full of nutritious foods and energy drinks, a colorful message cards and envelopes caught your eyes.
The intricate design of each card and envelopes make your eyes twinkle in delight.
You've been also a fan of stationery items, developing a fascination for collecting envelopes and colored papers that pave the way for another passion—creating a journal with these elegant items.
If not for manga, the excess in your allowance is spent on stationery items.
As you eye the items, a sudden thought crosses your mind, making your heart beat to a now familiar tune that you are slowly getting used to.
You nibble the side of your cheek, contemplating whether it would be worth it.
You close your eyes, slowly taking deep breaths and gathering the confidence to do it.
Now full of determination, you took the cards and envelopes and proceeded to the counter to check out the items.
Your entire night was spent carefully preparing small packages, filling them with nutritious snacks and energy drinks. Along these, you include heartfelt and motivational notes crafted on small cards that you've intricately designed.
The following morning, you found yourself navigating the empty hallway in an unusual early hour while clutching the gift in your trembling hands, your heart pounding with each step.
Reaching Jungwon's locker, you hesitated for a moment, your mind replaying scenarios of what could happen next.
Would someone appear out of nowhere? Would Jungwon catch a glimpse of you?
With a last scanned around the hallway to make sure no one is around, you took a deep breath, reassuring yourself that the early morning cloak of silence was on your side.
Swiftly, you slipped your gift along with the letter into his locker, your hands moving with a kind of precision that only nervous anticipation could bring.
As you put the gifts gently, you feel a rush of adrenaline, a mixture of satisfaction and nervous energy coursing through your veins.
With the deed done, you retraced your steps, leaving behind the token of your affection. The school began to stir with the arrival of students, and you blended seamlessly into the crowd, keeping your secret hidden behind a casual smile.
You wanted to wait and witness Jungwon's reaction to your gift, but fear taking ahead of you as you pondered the possibility that his response might not align with your expectations.
Ultimately, you chose not to proceed and continued on your way to class.
Later in the afternoon, you found yourself on the same bench you sat, watching the practice game just as you always done. The field was buzzing with energy as the players warmed up, their determination evident in every stride they took.
Amongst them, Jungwon stood out like a star.
As the game began, you found yourself entranced once again by Jungwon's performance. He darted across the field, effortlessly evading opponents with his nimble footwork. His passes were precise and his shots were powerful.
He commanded the field with an air of confidence that made your heart swell with pride.
His performance today was exceptionally good compared to the previous practice games. Not that he wasn't good before—he truly was—but today, it felt like he was in his zone.
Every move he made was so powerful. You couldn't help but wonder if the pressure of the upcoming football season was driving him to new heights.
However, it wasn't just Jungwon's skill that impressed you; it was the pure sheer joy he exude while playing that you always like to see.
His face lit up with a radiant smile every time he made a good play or celebrated a victory. It was clear the football was more than just a game to him; it was a passion that ignited and fueled his determination.
A soft and gentle smile made its way to your face as you held your hands close to your chest, feeling the crazy beat of your heart as you admired Jungwon from afar.
A whistle blew across the field, signaling that the first half of the practice game had just ended, making the players come back to the dugout to take a break. As the players made their way, your eyes only remained and followed Jungwon.
As he talked to one of the players, you saw him reach out for something among the water bottles and energy drinks. He twisted the cup and chugged its contents, making his Adam's apple bob with every gulp. The afternoon sun struck his skin, making it glow like honey and accentuating his chiseled jaw.
You catch your breath in a small gasp, not because of how attractive he looks but because the bottle he is holding is slowly becoming familiar.
It's the energy drink that you brought for him!
You know that it was yours because you made sure that the energy drink that you brought was different from the energy drink that they always drink every day, plus you can see the bright yellow sticker message that contained your motivational pun attached to the bottle!
You suddenly felt like you were not breathing when he noticed the sticker; his furrowed brows made you nervous as he read the message. You almost wanted to leave the field, thinking he didn't like what was written there, when all of a sudden he burst into laughter, making the other players look his way.
His teammates wanted to see what made him laugh, but Jungwon held the bottle close to his chest and refused to let anybody know.
Your cheeks suddenly flamed with redness; you don't know if it was from embarrassment or because of the overwhelming feeling of seeing his positive reaction to your motivational pun.
Jungwon looked at the sticker on the bottle once again and let out a chuckle while shaking his head in amusement. His smile and bright eyes didn't leave until the end of the practice game, making you feel a new sense of fulfillment knowing the small act of affection had reached him.
You guess the "Kick some Asparag-ass
(૭ 。•̀ ᵕ •́。 )૭" somehow made his day.
Seeing Jungwon's positive impact of your secret gesture fueled a newfound motivation deep within your soul.
Especially when you saw his soft smile upon discovering the rest of the gift you had left in his locker, a moment for which you had finally summoned the courage to witness his reaction.
Due to this, you can't help but ponder what else you could do—or another motivational pun to put— to bring him happiness and encouragement without revealing your true identity.
With each passing day, you continued to surprise Jungwon with small anonymous gifts, each carefully selected to brighten his practice session and show your support.
Noticing Jungwon excelled in his games and his skills shone even brighter with added encouragement, made your heart swell with pride each time you witnessed his growth, even though he remained unaware of your involvement.
You planned to spend your whole day today coming up with different ideas to keep Jungwon motivated, but since it was Sunday—meaning today was the scheduled release of a new chapter of the manga you were reading—you got distracted and ended up lying down lazily on the couch in the leaving room with an iPad hovering over your face.
You giggled when the supporting character thought that the protagonist was a love child of a known superhero in the story.
As you continued scrolling the pages, you heard the front door open.
Since the iPad completely covered your vision of the door, you didn't see who entered the house; you didn't mind and didn't bother to look who it was and continued reading, thinking it was only your brother since your dog, Bisco, immediately ran to the door with enthusiasm.
"Hey, make me some snacks." The voice of your irritating brother demanded—you guessed it right—it was your brother, which made your eyes immediately roll.
"Make your own," you grumbled, your eyes remaining on the screen.
"I'm going to study," he retorted, earning a scoff from you. 'Study my ass'
You remained unmoved, pretending not to hear him. However, your brother was relentless about getting you to make him snacks, resorting to tickling your foot.
You squirmed and kicked his hands away, still avoiding eye contact, thinking that ignoring him would make him leave you alone.
But the more you resisted, the more persistent your brother became.
Ni-ki decided to take it a step further and removed the socks you were wearing, continuing to tickle your bare foot.
You dramatically squirm around as if you were being possessed, earning a hearty laugh from your brother.
You got up and lodged a smack on your brother's arm when you had enough of his annoyance.
The sound of it resonated through the living room, proving how strong it was. You were ready to give him another one when you noticed another presence in the room.
Your fist hung mid-air, and your body froze as you saw Jungwon smiling at you.
"Hi, Y/n"
You immediately straightened your posture and quickly tucked your messy hair behind your ears.
"H-hello, Jungwon n-nii-san," you stammered while simply trying to fix your clothes, in which you are clad in your usual pajamas with pompompurin designs. You chew the side of your cheek.
Why is it that every time you look at your worst, Jungwon always shows up?
"Nii-san?" Your brother questioned, making you look at him. His brows furrowed like he couldn't believe what he had heard.
"We've been living here in South Korea for 5 years; it should be Oppa now."
Your fist suddenly feels itchy to punch your brother at the moment.
He knows that you're not yet comfortable using those honorifics because you're still adjusting to their culture; you're still slowly trying to fit in.
Your fist has already collided with his arm; if not, your jersey no. 4 is not here.
"O-opp—" You gulp, looking down at your feet, trying your best to find the courage to say it. Wanting to put a good impression in front of the person you are admiring, you will try to say it.
"O-opp—"
"—ah"
"O-op—"
"It's okay, Y/n" You immediately stopped when you heard a reassuring voice. You looked up, and your eyes immediately softened when you saw Jungwon looking at you with gentleness.
"I'm fine with Nii-san; you don't have to force yourself." You felt a warm glow of reassurance spread through your body, thawing the icy grip of fear that had taken hold of you.
"Nah, man. She can say i—" Before your brother could finish his words, Jungwon's fist already collided with Ni-ki's back, playfully smacking his friend.
"Let's have your sister do what makes her comfortable. Respect her decision, dude." Your brother quickly returns the punch to his friend, which only makes the latter laugh.
As Jungwon and Ni-ki were laughing and playfully bickering at each other, you stood there watching as if your world stood still, leaving you with the feeling of a crushing wave of warmth washing over you.
In the quiet corners of your heart, a warm ember began to glow.
It flickered gently at first, timidly reaching out to the cool, untouched spaces within.
Jungwon's gentle smile, the softness of his eyes, and his kindness made the ember grow, its flames dancing in harmony with the newfound rhythm of your heartbeat that you didn't know suddenly changed into something more.
'Uh, oh, you're falling in love'
The fluttering of your heart becomes more frequent and pronounced that every time Jungwon appears in your line of sight, you experience this peculiar feeling.
These little flutters seemed to build into a crescendo, filling your heart with a strange yet amazing feeling.
Every word that Jungwon says to you always shows how pure and kind his soul was, making the beat of your heart grow louder as if announcing to the cosmos the love that is blossoming within you.
Slowly, your heart was no longer fluttering; it was soaring.
'Oh no, you're falling in love'
You had always believed in love because of your parents, but you had never truly understood its power until now.
You realized that love was more than a fleeting connection; it was the awakening of your soul.
It was a feeling that washed over you like a gentle wave, leaving you breathless and craving for more.
As you look at Jungwon, a new, profound, warm sensation spreads through your chest, gradually seeping into every corner of your being.
It was a sensation of love, softening your edges and illuminating your soul.
It was a feeling that found solace in vulnerability and flourished in the light of trust.
'Oh, you're falling in love.'
Chapter Five
The newfound realization made your heart skip a beat and sent a rush of nervous energy through your veins.
You can't believe it, you have fallen in love.
With such a simple word, its complexities were unraveling before you, leaving you both exhilarated and terrified.
At a young age, you already found yourself entangled in a web of emotions that you had never encountered.
It was your first taste of this intoxicating elixir, and you were utterly unprepared for its effects.
With this newfound love came a wave of shyness that seemed to wash over you whenever you were in Jungwon's presence, making you tongue-tied like every word you wanted to say remained locked behind closed lips.
You couldn't even bring yourself to meet his gaze when you brought snacks to your brother's room while they were studying.
As you thought they were both studying.
Because upon handling their snack, you realized that only your brother was engrossed in his studies, while Jungwon was actively helping and guiding him, almost like a dedicated tutor.
This observation lingered in your thoughts, making you seek clarification from your mother about it.
"Oh, Jungwon?" Your mother started "his tutoring your brother on some of his subjects for weeks now." She continued while chopping some vegetables for dinner.
While this information seemed like a casual detail to your mother, for you, it was a revelation that left your eyes widening in shock.
How had you not noticed him doing this earlier, especially considering he had been tutoring your brother in his room for several days now?
What surprised you even more was how he managed to balance this commitment with the intensity of their practice games.
"But why? He's an athlete like Riki-nisan; wouldn't it be exhausting to do both?" Your curiosity compelled you to ask.
The chopping abruptly ceased. Your mother gently set down the knife, her gaze softening as she looked at you.
"You see, Jungwon has been struggling to pay off all of his school expenses—" You saw how the sad smile made its way to your mother's face.
"—despite working part-time, it hasn't been enough. Your brother offered financial assistance, but he always refused. Your brother was determined to help, so he proposed the idea of Jungwon tutoring your brother in subjects he was struggling with," your mother explained, continuing to chop vegetables as you listened attentively.
"That young boy is such a genuine friend to your brother. Despite his financial struggles, he consistently rejects any money from your brother's pocket. If only his mother hadn't fallen ill, he would have also declined your brother's offer."
The weight of the revelation made your heart sink.
While you admired Jungwon for his skills and charm, little did you know about the silent battles he faced. Yet, he remained a compassionate soul willing to endure hardships to support his family.
"So, if your friends are also struggling with their studies, let me know so we can recommend Jungwon to them, okay?" Your mother said with a hopeful smile on her face, also wanting to extend her help to her son's friend.
You nodded and agreed without hesitation, though deep down, a secret plan was forming in your mind.
You were the one who would be getting the tutoring sessions with Jungwon.
If Ni-ki was naturally a sports prodigy, you on the other hand were a naturally gifted student, excelling in all subjects effortlessly.
Despite being smart and not needing any help with your studies, you plan to take on the role of a struggling student to help Jungwon to support him financially.
With that plan, you were more determined to help Jungwon rather than get closer to him.
You were pacing back and forth, your heart pounding with anticipation. It was the day of your tutoring session with the person who only can make your heart do crazy act like this.
When you brought up the topic of needing a tutor during dinner, your parents were taken aback, nearly choking on their food.
It seemed incomprehensible to them that their academically successful daughter, particularly excelling in physics, would require assistance in any subject.
Fortunately, you are gifted an understanding parents who acknowledge that even bright students face challenges. Consequently, they graciously granted your request for a tutor, specifically Jungwon as your tutor in the subject where you usually excel the most—physics.
You will literally rot in hell for lying too much to your parents.
Back in your brother's room—which is the place you have requested to use for your tutor session—your mind swirling with thoughts of how the session would go.
You meticulously organized your study materials, ensuring they were arranged perfectly on your desk. You adjusted your hair, clothes, and everything in an attempt to look decent.
When the knock finally came at the door, your heart felt like leaped into your throat. You took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts, before answering it. There stood Jungwon, clad in a fresh fluffy gray hoodie with a shy smile playing on his lips.
"Hey, Y/n. How are you today?" He casually asks as he enters your brother's room, seemingly unaware of the effect he had on you.
"I-I'm g-good, thank y-you." You cleared your throat, trying to cover your stuttered response. You felt your face immediately flush from embarrassment.
Jungwon smiled gently, sensing your nervousness. "Great! Let's start our lesson then," he said, pulling out a chair for you. "Remember, there's no need to be nervous. We're here to learn together, and I'm here to help."
From his assurance, you felt again the familiar melody in your heart that you can slowly put into a song, and it swelled every time he spoke with kindness.
Whenever you feel embarrassed or in trouble speaking your mind, Jungwon always catches you with soothing words, wrapping around you like a warm blanket. It was as if he knew exactly what to say to make you feel validated and loved.
His kind words seemed to have a power of their own, melting away your doubts and worries.
It wasn't just the words, though. It was the way Jungwon said them, the gentle sincerity in his voice. His words were not empty promises or shallow compliments; they held a genuine warmth that touched your heart.
Each day, his kind words reaffirmed your belief that your heart made the right choice in loving him.
"I hear you were having trouble in advanced physics?" You sheepishly nodded, crossing your fingers under the table, invoking a protective power to mitigate the bad consequences that will come to you for lying too much.
"Well, it's not your fault for finding this subject challenging. Teaching this level of physics in 7th grade is a bit advanced for young minds. I only started learning it last year in the 11th grade," Jungwon said, shaking his head in disappointment. "Our school's curriculum isn't the best, is it?" he added with a playful wiggle of his eyebrows, earning a giggle from you.
He smiled, sensing that you were getting more comfortable, and began to slowly proceed with tutoring you.
As the session went on, Jungwon always been patient with you, eager to make you comfortable around him and create an environment wherein you could truly "learn."
But you've got to admit, the tips he is providing to help you understand the concept better are much easier to grasp than the way your teacher teaches.
As you spent more time with Jungwon, diving into deeper topics week after week, your feelings for him grew stronger. The way he explained things made you admire and like him more.
In those quite study moments, he made the subject matter feel like a beautiful melody, resonating not just in your head but also in your heart.
Falling for Jungwon was like a slow waterfall, this gentle descent into a realm where every drop carried a piece of your heart, cascading softly into the pool of emotions that brought a sense of calmness to your soul.
As the weeks pass, not only your feelings blossom but also your friendship with Jungwon.
Jungwon is an easygoing person, conversations with him flowed like a gentle stream, unhurried and reassuring.
Before you start to study, he will ask about how your day went, and he will also share his with you.
Whenever you take a break from the study session, he will offer an icebreaker, such as playing a little bit of brain games or letting you rumble about the manga you were reading while he listens attentively.
One of the things you always look forward to in your study sessions is his thoughtful gifts, given as a reward every time you ace the study exercises or tests and quizzes in physics.
Sometimes, he surprises you with snacks, sharing his favorite jelly, and there's that one thing you can't forget: gifting you the latest volume of the manga you were reading.
"Since you ace the exam last time," Jungwon declared with a mischievous glint in his eye, "I think my student deserves this reward." The corners of his lips curled into a playful smile, as he reached for his bag and pulled out a paper bag and handed it to you.
Curiosity piqued, you eagerly open the bag to reveal the latest volume of your favorite manga series.
Your eyes immediately widened in surprise, a delightful smile spreading across your face. "Jungwon nii-san, you remembered!" You exclaimed, flipping through the pages with excitement. " I can't believe you got this for me!"
Jungwon softly grinned, his own excitement mirrored in his eyes. "Of course, I remembered. You've been talking about this series non-stop, so I thought you'd appreciate having the next volume"
You couldn't count how many time you have been grateful for Jungwon's kindness, the kindness that always feels so warm and welcoming.
However, as you observed the way he interacted with others, you realized that his kindness and warmth were extended to all.
You're not as special to him as you thought.
You felt a bittersweet pang in your chest, acknowledging that he only saw you as his student, a friend, and nothing more.
Much worse, as his little sister.
In the bustling football stadium, under the warm glow of the stadium lights, you found yourself once again in your usual seat, holding your breath as the football game were in full swing. The players of Nightball team sprinted across the field, their feet grazing the perfectly manicured grass.
Suddenly, your heart skipped a beat as Jungwon miraculously spotted you amidst the crowd.
A wide smile spread across Jungwon's face, and he waved at you with unreserved excitement. Your heart fluttered, surprised that he had noticed your presence among the large supporters. You waved back, returning his infectious smile.
As the game continued, you couldn't help but feel a sense of connection with Jungwon, knowing that after all months of unwavering support for him, he was finally aware of it.
In a brief pause between play, Jungwon jog on your way to quickly thank you for cheering for him, as he talks to you, another talented football player, Jake, approached him, curiosity and amusement evident on is face.
He nudged him and teasingly asked, "Who's this girl you're waving at, man? Do we have a secret fan club now?"
Jungwon simply chuckled, "This is Ni-ki's little sister, Y/n." he look down at you with a softness in his eyes as he gently patted your head, "She's like my little sister too."
You felt a pang in your chest as disappointment washed over you, slowly realizing your position in Jungwon's life.
While your heart crazily beat of full affection for him, his was platonically calm for you.
Despite all of that, you swallowed the hurtful truth and softly smiled, accepting the role of being his only little sister.
From then on, you made a choice to embrace the only friendship you have with Jungwon without demanding more.
You continue to fill the pages of your heart with cherished moments, etching them with love and gratitude.
With each passing day, you learn the true essence of selflessness and acceptance.
Despite the unrequited love that lingered in the depths of your soul, you found solace in the knowledge that the friendship you shared with Jungwon was a treasure you could forever hold dear.
Although you acknowledge already the fact that your relationship with Jungwon will only stay as friends, it didn't stop you to continue sending him gifts and letters still anonymously.
You were happily skipping your way through the school hallway as the morning sun shone brightly, clutching yet again a beautifully wrapped gift along with a heartfelt letter of encouragement for his upcoming football game, and also discreetly thanking him for showing kindness and his help in tutoring you.
But as you approached Jungwon's locker, you noticed him standing there with his group of friends.
Startled, you quickly ducked behind a nearby row of lockers.
Seeing him still engrossed in conversation with his friends and seems like they have no plans to leave the lockers at any moment, you decided to retreat and come back later when they were gone.
With a small and hopeful smile, you turned around and began walking away. But just as you were about to go to your class, something caught your attention.
"Man, you remember the gift that Jungwon received last Friday?" an unfamiliar voice of a boy started, piquing your interest, especially since you knew you had gifted Jungwon that day.
"The design looks so damn childish like it was made by an elementary schooler for their art project." The boy snickered, "And all of the things, a freaking garden design mug as a gift?" he mockingly remarked with a chuckle, causing the others to burst into laughter.
You felt like someone poured a bucket of ice-cold water over your head when you overheard their conversations. It felt as though an icy hand wrapped itself around your heart, squeezing it with an unbearable heaviness.
You in fact, gifted him a mug with a garden design, thinking he will like it because it reminds you of him and his name upon seeing it on the store.
With tears slowly well up in your eyes, you look down at your gift, which is wrapped in Tamama design gift wrappers with a cute bow ribbon.
Well, maybe they were right, your choice of gifts was childish.
But you had put so much thought and effort into those gifts, believing that Jungwon would appreciate them. However, it seemed like your gesture had become the subject of ridicule.
You felt as if the world crumbling around you, your heart sinking even deeper as if it had shattered into countless fragments. The thought that Jungwon might be also laughing at your "childish" designs only added to the weight of despair.
Unable to face the humiliation, you quickly turned in your heels and retreated, your footsteps echoing the emptiness in your heart.
Unbeknownst to you, Jungwon, in fact, stood in silence, his usual smile faltered, a hint of offense flickering in his eyes.
"Hey, guys," he spoke up, his voice filled with a strength his friends never heard before. "That gift is special to me. It's different, sure, but it's unique. The person who gifted it to me probably has a reason for choosing a mug, and I appreciate it. It's the thought behind it that counts. So, please, show some respect."
His friends fell silent, stunned by the defense he had just given. Jungwon understood that his friends might not comprehend the deeper meaning behind someone's gift, but he couldn't let them belittle their efforts, especially since how those gifts consistently brightened his day.
You who are still unaware of Jungwon's defense, spent the rest of your day lost in your gloomy thoughts. Your heartache enveloped you like a tight cage, leaving you feeling isolated and alone.
You replayed the scene in your mind over and over, the sting of humiliation and embarrassment refused to subside.
You don't know how you will face Jungwon after all those words.
The idea of facing him, of looking into his eyes and pretending to be casual while those words in the back of your head kept stabbing you like a broken record was unbearable.
As you grappled with your own emotions, the glow of your phone screen caught your attention, announcing the arrival of a new message.
'Hi, Y/n! I might be a little bit late for our study session because of a team meeting ╥ ╥ , but I'll make sure to be there before 6:30 pm so we can have more time to study!'
'As an apology, I'll be bringing snacks~~'
The message from Jungwon illuminated your phone screen, and a mixture of conflicting emotions surged through you.
On the surface, the excitement of an incoming study session and the promise of snacks brought a fleeting smile to your face. However, deep within, a pang of heartache tugged at your insides.
The knot in your stomach tightened, and a lump formed in your throat. Jungwon's innocence, and his kindness, clashed violently with the echoes of humiliation and embarrassment that still pound within you.
The vivid memories of his friends' mockery haunted you, turning the joyous act of giving into a painful reminder of vulnerability.
With a heavy heart, you fabricated an excuse about feeling unwell and unable to attend the tutoring session that day.
It was a lie, one that marked the beginning of a pattern.
The tutor sessions turned into missed opportunities to see him, and the football games became distant scene you chose to avoid.
Jungwon, puzzled by your sudden change in behavior, continued to inquire about your well-being.
Each message from him tugged at your heart, but the walls you created held firm.
His concern was met with vague responses, masking the turmoil within you. The more he reached out, the deeper you delved into your cocoon of self-inflicted solitude.
The peak of this emotional turmoil came when Jungwon sensing your distance.
"Are you okay, Y/n?"
"Is there something wrong?"
"Are you mad at me?"
The lies you spun become more elaborate, the excuses more intricate. You assured him that everything is fine and your not mad at him, that you were just busy, that life had taken unexpected turns.
Jungwon, the patient soul he was, accepted your explanations with a grace that only deepened the ache in your chest.
When he extended an invitation to his high school graduation ceremony, offering you a ticket and a chance to be part of his celebration, you hesitated.
The battle within you raged—the desire to reconnect, to salvage what was left, clashed with the fear of facing the unspoken truths.
In the end, you declined, citing other commitments and responsibilities that seemed to multiply in your made-up reality.
You both slowly grew apart, especially as he moved to another city to pursue his dreams at a different university.
It was a bittersweet decision but for now, you resigned yourself to the knowledge that some chapters must end before new ones can begin.
And though your story with Jungwon may have concluded on a sour note, you refused to close the book entirely, holding on to the faint glimmer of hope that perhaps, someday, your path would cross once more.

000.⠀⠀JULY 17, 2021 › Silverstone, UK.
Michaela leaned against the garage wall, her heart still racing from the final qualifying lap. Her helmet was held tightly in her grasp, the visor reflecting the bustling Silverstone paddock. She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, trying to compose herself before facing the barrage of microphones and cameras that awaited her.
As she made her way over to the press pen, Beata quickly briefed her on McLaren's main press priorities for the race tomorrow. A reminder to keep quiet on the strategy, a recognition of the odds stacked against them despite her third-row start, and a quick wish of 'Buona fortuna' leaving her signature red lips.
Michaela nodded, a hint of exhaustion flashing in her eyes. She knew the drill. But for just a few more moments, she had more to think about than just the race. The journalists threw questions at her nonstop during their individual five minutes. She danced through each one with an ease she undoubtedly owed to her press officer. The usual questions about Lando were tucked in the flurry of questions about new upgrades and efficient wings. But she remained tight-lipped, knowing the drama that could unfold if she gave them anything to chew on.
As she answered the final journalist, her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a text from Jenson, "Great job today sweetheart, can't wait to see you tomorrow." A smile ghosted her lips, and she quickly pocketed the phone before it could betray her. The press didn't need to know about them just yet.
Dinner with her parents that night was a whirlwind of questions about the race, the team's strategies, and, inevitably, her love life. She had been dodging the latter for a while now, but her mother was never one to resist the tempting question. "So, Courtney told me she knows the identity of this mystery man you're dating," Miriam said, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Is it time we met him?"
Michaela took a sip of her wine, the rich flavor doing little to ease her nerves. "Actually, it is about time, I guess," she began, setting her glass down. "He's someone you've both heard of."
Her parents exchanged a look that was a mix of excitement and concern. "Jenson Button," she announced, watching their expressions closely.
Her father, Tobias, took a moment to digest the information before speaking. "So I've raised both of my daughters to exclusively date Formula 1 drivers?" He said, his voice a mix of surprise and good-natured disbelief. Michaela rolled her eyes as he laughed at his own joke.
"But he was World Champion in what year?" Miriam finally managed to say, the shock on her face was a stark contrast to the shy smile on her daughter's.
Michaela rolled her eyes with a playful smile. "Mum, don't start with the age thing."
Tobias took a sip of his drink, his expression contemplative. "2009, Michaela was 10," he said, setting his cup down. Miriam turned to look at her husband with an air of disbelief. Her brown eyes were wide again as Tobias simply stared at his coffee mug.
"But that means..." Miriam began.
Michaela cut her off gently. "He's only 19 years older than me. It's not that big of a deal, really," she said, hoping to ease their concerns.
Tobias' gaze lifted from his wife, his expression serious. "It is a big deal, Mouse. The man's in his 40s, and he's seen a lot in his time. Are you sure you know what you're getting into?"
Michaela's chest tightened. She knew her parents meant well, but she couldn't help feeling a spark of irritation. "Yes, Dad, I'm sure. We're both adults, and we care about each other."
Miriam reached across the table, her hand covering Michaela's. "We just don't want to see you hurt, or your career suffer because of a man," she said, her voice earnest.
Michaela nodded, her eyes flicking to her father's concerned face. "I know, Mum," she said, her voice soft. "But Jenson's different. He understands the sport, he understands the pressure I'm under." Michaela felt the tension in her neck and took a moment to compose herself before continuing. "We're just enjoying each other's company. It's good for me, good for him, good for my career."
Miriam leaned forward, her eyes sharp with disapproval. "But what happens when it's not just about fun anymore?" she asked, her voice gruff with concern. She huffed as she sat back in her seat, taking in Michaela's stubborn gaze.
Michaela sighed. "Look, I know he has a daughter, her name's Myla, and he has full custody," she said, her eyes darting between her parents. "And I'm not ready to be a mother right now, but Jenson's assured me that we're taking things slow."
Tobias' expression remained unchanged. "That's sweet, Mouse," he said, his voice softer. "But she's not just a part of the package. She's a whole new world to consider, Michaela. You're not just dating Jenson; you're dating his past, his future, his everything."
Michaela felt the weight of her father's words, but she wasn't ready to give in to their doubt. "I know, Dad," she replied, her voice firm. "But we're not rushing into anything. And if it's okay with you guys, I'd like you to meet him tomorrow."
Her parents exchanged a look, and she could see the unspoken conversation playing out between them. After a moment, Miriam spoke up. "We'd love to meet him, darling. We're here to support you, whatever happens," she said, giving her hand a squeeze.
Michaela's shoulders relaxed slightly at her mother's words. "Thank you, Mum, I appreciate you guys trying," she said, smiling genuinely. "He's actually covering the race for Sky Sports tomorrow, so he'll be around."
Tobias nodded slowly, his gaze lingering on his daughter. "Just remember, Mouse, we're not just worried about you. We're worried about his daughter too. She's a little girl with divorced parents, she's got enough drama going on in her life as it is," he said, his voice a gentle reminder of the gravity of the situation.
Michaela's eyes searched her father's, understanding his concern. "I know, Dad. And that's why we're taking it slow," she assured him. "I promise, I'll think about everything you've said."
The conversation shifted to safer topics, and the evening ended with the warmth of a family that had always supported each other through thick and thin. As the night grew later, and her parents retreated to their hotel room, Michaela found herself pacing the floor of her own room, the gravity of the day's events settling in. Her heart was a mix of excitement and anxiety as she dialed Jenson's number.
His voice was calm and steady, a balm to her nerves. "Hello, my love, how'd dinner go?" He asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
Michaela took a deep breath and relayed the conversation, her voice a tapestry of emotions. She told him about her parents' excitement and their reservations about Myla. "They're worried, Jense," she said, her voice cracking slightly. "They don't want me to get hurt, or for you to get hurt again."
There was a brief pause on the line before Jenson spoke, his voice gentle. "They're just looking out for you like any good parents would," he said. "But, darling, you know I'd never push you into anything you're not ready for."
Michaela nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "I know," she murmured, feeling a lump form in her throat. "They just want to meet you, that's all."
"Well, I'd love to meet them," Jenson said. "But let's not overwhelm everyone at once, especially Myla. She'll be with me tomorrow. Maybe we could all grab dinner tomorrow night, after the race?"
Michaela thought for a moment before agreeing. "That sounds like a good plan," she said, a hint of relief in her voice. "They're staying just down the hall from me, so it'll be easy to find a place nearby."
Jenson chuckled. "Perfect. And if you want, I'll ask Myla if she's okay with it," he offered. "But let's not tell her you're my girlfriend yet. Maybe just say you're a friend."
Michaela's heart skipped a beat. "But what if she doesn't like me?" she whispered, the fear of rejection creeping in.
Jenson's voice was warm and comforting. "Michaela, she's already your biggest fan. Her eyes are glued to your car whenever we watch the races at home," he said with a laugh. "Trust me, she'll love you even more once she finally meets you."
Michaela felt a wave of reassurance wash over her. She had never felt so supported in a relationship before, and she knew she was lucky to have Jenson by her side. "Okay, I'll trust your judgment," she said, her voice a little lighter. "Just try to stay on my parents' good side, yeah?"
"I'll charm them like I charmed you," Jenson said with a playful wink she could almost feel through the phone.
Michaela chuckled, the tension in her shoulders loosening. "Please don't," she said, rolling her eyes. "You know I don't need the competition."
000.⠀⠀JULY 18, 2021 › Silverstone, UK.
The next day dawned with the promise of an exciting race, and as Michaela climbed into her McLaren, the dinner to come was the furthest thing on her mind. She pushed aside her pre-race nerves and focused on the wheel in her hands, the roar of the engines and the scent of fuel filling her senses.
Tire strategies played out like a chess match, with each pit stop a strategic move to gain the upper hand. Through it all, Michaela remained calm and calculated, her mind a melding of speed and precision. As the laps ticked down, she found herself in a fierce duel with Lando to hold on to her fourth place. She pushed her car to the limit, her heart pounding in her chest.
On the final lap, the team orders finally came through. Lando was to hold position behind Michaela and bring the cars home in 4th and 5th. As she took the checkered flag, the crowd erupted into thunderous cheers. The adrenaline rush washed over her, and she couldn't help but thank the team for their focus throughout the race.
After the post-race interviews, the paddock grew alive with excitement and fatigue. Drivers and teams mingled, sharing their experiences and strategies for the next race. Jenson, with Myla Button in tow, approached the McLaren hospitality suite. The little girl's eyes grew wide as she spotted the logos of the cars she had watched roar around the track just moments ago.
Myla Jane Button clutched her father's hand tightly, her eyes searching the sea of people for the one person she had talked about all weekend. "Daddy, where's your friend?" she whispered, her voice filled with anticipation.
Jenson glanced down at her with a smile, feeling a twinge of nerves. "Patience, darling," he said, leading her through the throngs of people. "She'll be out shortly."
Michaela emerged from the suite, her racing suit swapped for casual attire, her hair tied back in a loose ponytail. She spotted Jenson and Myla and her heart skipped a beat. The little girl looked so much like him, with the same piercing blue eyes, curly blonde hair, and mischievous smile. As she approached the two of them, she could see her parents approaching Jenson and Myla as well with adoring smiles on their faces.
Myla, yet to see her father's girlfriend from a distance, was busy introducing herself to Michaela's parents, her jaw dropping animatedly as they introduced themselves as the parents of her favorite driver.
"We’re Michaela Sommers’ mummy and daddy," Miriam said, her voice filled with pride.
Michaela watched from afar, her heart fluttering as she saw the delight in her mother's eyes. She had always dreamed of this moment, her two worlds colliding in a perfect harmony of love and support.
As she drew closer, she could hear Myla's chatter about the race. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and it warmed her heart to see how much his daughter took after his kindness and joy. Jenson looked up and caught her gaze, his eyes lighting up. He whispered something into Myla's ear, and the little girl's eyes grew even wider. She turned to look at the approaching figure, her excitement unbridled.
Michaela's steps grew lighter as she reached them, a warm smile playing on her lips. Jenson introduced her as a friend and a fellow racer. "Jenson, these are my parents," she heard herself say, the words feeling oddly natural. "Mum, Dad, this is Jenson and his daughter, Myla."
Myla's eyes lit up like stars at the mention of her favorite driver's name. She shyly looked up at the taller woman of the two in front of her. "Hi," she whispered, her gaze flicking between the Sommers.
Michaela crouched down to Myla's level, her heart racing. "Hi Myla, I'm Michaela," she said, her voice gentle. "Your dad tells me you had a fantastic time watching the race."
Myla nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. "It was the best!" she exclaimed. "And I got to see you drive in real life!"
Michaela couldn't help but chuckle. "Well, I'm so excited to meet you," she said, holding out the signed cap she had brought for the little girl. "I heard you're my biggest fan."
Myla took the cap, her eyes wide with wonder. "Oh wow," she murmured, looking at it as if it were made of pure gold. "Thank you, Miss Michaela."
Michaela felt a surge of affection for the little girl. "You're welcome, Myla," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "But you can call me Michaela, like everyone else."
Myla looked up at her dad, seeking approval. Jenson's eyes met hers, and he gave a small nod of consent. "Okay, Michaela," Myla said, a smile playing on her lips.
Michaela's heart swelled. Every time she met a little girl who shared her excitement about racing, it reminded her of just how much her presence meant in the sport. She watched as Myla proudly put the cap on her head, the McLaren papaya orange standing out against her blonde hair. "So, what did you think of the race?" she asked, eager to keep the conversation flowing.
Myla's eyes sparkled as she began recounting the race's highlights. Her parents looked on, smiling at her passion. "It was so cool when you passed that one car," Myla said, her eyes shining with excitement. "You're so fast!"
Michaela felt her heart warm at the little girl's words. "Thank you, Myla. I try to be," she said, her voice sincere. She knew that she had to win over not just Jenson's heart, but Myla's as well. The seven-year-old was a direct line to Jenson's soul, and she didn't want to cause any pain or discomfort.
Her parents watched the interaction with a mix of curiosity and hope. They had heard so much about Jenson from the media, but seeing him with his daughter made their concerns seem less pressing. He was a good father, that much was clear, and if he treated Michaela with the same care and affection, they knew she would be in good hands.
Michaela felt the weight of their gazes and stood up, taking a deep breath. "So, dinner?" she suggested, her voice a tad louder than necessary to break the quiet moment. "Myla, would you like to come with us?"
Myla looked up at Jenson, her eyes wide. "Can I, Daddy?" she asked, those same blue eyes Michaela had come to know so well wide with excitement.
Jenson's smile grew, and he looked at her with a proud nod. "Of course, darling. If it's okay with everyone," he said, glancing at Miriam and Tobias who eagerly approved with warm smiles.
The restaurant they chose was a cozy Italian place, a favorite of Jenson's, which offered them a private booth to escape the prying eyes of the public. The air was thick with the aroma of garlic and tomato sauce, and the candles flickered gently, casting a soft glow across the table.
Myla sat between Jenson and Michaela, her eyes wide as she took in the new faces and the excitement of the evening. She had insisted on wearing the signed cap to dinner, which was met with smiles all around. The conversation flowed easily, with Jenson keeping a watchful eye on his daughter, making sure she felt included.
Michaela's parents, while still wary, were won over by Jenson's charm and his clear love for Myla. They pulled Jenson into a conversation of their own as Michaela kept Myla engaged to allow her boyfriend a chance to charm her parents. The little girl listened intently as they talked about the race, asking insightful questions that showed she had been paying attention to her father's commentary.
As the meal progressed, the conversation turned more serious, with Miriam expressing her concerns about the age gap and the potential impact on Myla. Jenson was honest and open, acknowledging his past mistakes and his commitment to prioritizing his daughter's happiness above all else.
"I've been through a lot, Miriam," he said, his gaze earnest. "But I've learned from my past. And if it means taking things slow with Michaela, then that's what I'll do. I won't let anyone, not even myself, disrupt Myla's life again."
Miriam's expression softened, and she reached out to pat Jenson's hand. "We just want what's best for her," she said, her voice gentle. "I'm sure you understand where we're coming from."
Jenson nodded, his eyes filled with understanding. "I do," he said. "And I promise, I'll do everything in my power to make sure she's happy and that she knows she's always a priority in my life."
Michaela's parents shared a look, their concerns slowly melting away. They had seen the love and dedication Jenson had for his daughter, and it was clear that he was a changed man from the one they had read about in the tabloids. "Thank you, Jenson," Tobias said, her voice warm. "That means a lot to us."
As the evening wound down, the conversation turned to more light-hearted topics. Myla giggled at a story Jenson told about a prank he had played on a fellow driver back in his Formula 1 days, and even Michaela's parents couldn't help but chuckle. It was moments like these that made the age gap seem almost non-existent, as they all connected over their shared love for the sport and the people in their lives.
The dessert menu was brought out, and Myla's eyes lit up at the sight of the gelato. "Daddy, can I have the mint chocolate chip?" she asked, her voice hopeful.
Jenson looked at her with a playful smile. "Only if you promise to eat all your veggies," he teased, and Myla huffed playfully before nodding vigorously as Jenson tickled her side.
Michaela felt a warmth spread through her as she watched the interaction. She had never seen this side of Jenson, the gentle, caring father. It was a stark contrast to the fiercely competitive driver she had seen on the track. As they ordered dessert, she couldn't help but feel a rush of something she hadn't felt in a long time: the possibility of a real future with someone who truly cared for her.
The gelato arrived, and as Myla eagerly dug in, Jenson leaned closer to Michaela. "So, what do you think?" he whispered, his eyes searching hers for reassurance.
Michaela met his gaze, her heart full. "They love you," she whispered back with a small smile. "And they see how much you love Myla."
Jenson's eyes searched hers, looking for the truth she held. "And you?" he asked, his voice barely audible above the hum of the restaurant. "Do you think you're ready for all this?"
Michaela took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his question. "I'm not sure," she admitted. "But I know I want to try."
The conversation was cut short as Myla squealed with laughter, her spoon flying through the air and landing on the floor with a clink. Jenson's eyes danced with mirth as he pretended to be shocked by her behavior, and the table erupted into laughter. Myla carefully squeezed past Michaela to retrieve the spoon before requesting polite permission from her father to wash the sticky gelato from her hands.
"Alright, go ahead," he said, his eyes following her as she skipped off to the bathroom.
The moment she was out of earshot, he turned back to the Sommers. "Look, I know the situation isn't ideal," he began, his voice serious. "But I want you to know that I'm not looking for anything to replace what I have with Myla. I just want to share my life with someone who makes me happy, and that's your daughter."
Tobias nodded, his gaze thoughtful.
Jenson took a deep breath, turning to look Michaela in the eyes. "Eventually we’ll get to the point where I'll sit down with Myla and explain everything. But until then, I think it's best if we just let her enjoy getting to know you as a person, not as her father's girlfriend."
Michaela nodded, understanding the delicacy of the situation.
"We just want you to know that we support you, both of you, no matter what happens," Miriam said, her voice gentle. "Myla is precious, you’ve done a great job Jenson."
Michaela and Tobias both hummed in agreement as Jenson flushed in appreciation. In the lull of the quiet in Myla's absence, Michaela squeezed her boyfriend's hand before leaning over to press a chaste kiss to his lips.
"Thank you, sweetheart. I'm glad my girls are getting along so well."
Myla returned, her cheeks still flushed from her rushed trip to the bathroom. She climbed back into the booth, her eyes flicking to the absence of space between her father and her new friend. She slid closer to Jenson, her curiosity piqued by the sudden affection between him and Michaela.
Michaela scooted away shyly, her cheeks reddening slightly. She cleared her throat, trying to ease the sudden tension that had bloomed between them. "So, Jenson," she said, her voice a little too bright. "You mentioned Myla's been watching my races. Does she have any tips for me?"
Jenson chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Oh, she definitely has some advice," he said, ruffling Myla's hair. "But I'll let her tell you herself."
Myla looked up at her father, her eyes wide. "Well, Michaela," she began, the name becoming more comfortable on her tongue. "You should go even faster and win every race. That way, you can be the best!"
Michaela couldn't help but laugh at the simplicity of Myla's advice. "That's a big ask," she said, winking at the little girl. "But I'll do my best to make sure you're always proud of me."
Myla beamed, her cheeks pinking up. "You will," she said confidently, her voice filled with the innocence of a child who believes in the boundless capabilities of her heroes.
Michaela felt a pang of something unfamiliar stir within her. The weight of Myla's belief in her was surprisingly heavy, a reminder of the stakes of not only her relationship but also her career. She looked at Jenson, who was watching her with an encouraging smile, and she knew she had to try, for them both.
The rest of the dinner passed in a blur of laughter and shared stories. Myla had endless questions about the industry and the cars, and both Jenson and Michaela were more than happy to answer, their voices filled with the same excitement they had felt during the race itself. Myla's eyes grew heavy with sleep, her head slowly dropping onto her father's shoulder.
"Looks like someone had a big day," Jenson said with a gentle smile, stroking her hair.
Michaela felt a tug at her heart as she watched the tender scene unfold. "How about we get going?" she suggested, standing up. "It's late, and she's had a lot of excitement."
Jenson nodded in agreement, gently lifting Myla into his arms. "Thank you for a lovely evening," he said to her parents, his eyes warm. "I hope we can do this again sometime soon. With or without this little one."
Miriam and Tobias stood, eyes kind. "We'd like that," she said, reaching out to stroke Myla's cheek. "Goodnight, sweetie."
"Night, Michaela's mummy and daddy," Myla mumbled, already half asleep.
Michaela felt her heart jump at the casual endearment. She walked alongside Jenson as they left the restaurant, carrying a sleeping Myla. The cool evening air was a welcome relief after the warmth of the dinner, and the sounds of the bustling city outside were muted by their conversation.
"Thank you for being so sweet," Jenson said, his voice low. "I know it wasn't easy for you."
Michaela nodded her eyes on the sleeping girl. "No, it wasn't," she admitted. "But she's amazing, Jense. I can see why you're so protective."
Jenson kissed the top of Myla's head. "She's my world," he said simply. "After the divorce, I fought so hard to keep her happy and stable. I don't want to do anything to mess that up."
Michaela nodded, understanding all too well the gravity of the situation. "We won't," she assured him, her voice firm. "I'll do everything I can to support both of you."
They walked in companionable silence to Jenson's car, the cool night air a stark contrast to the warmth of the restaurant. As they approached, Myla stirred in Jenson's arms, rubbing her eyes sleepily. "Can Michaela ride back to the hotel with us?" she mumbled, her voice small and tired.
Michaela and Jenson exchanged glances, both feeling the weight of the question. It was a step they hadn't anticipated, and one both of them weren't sure was wise to take considering the information they had withheld from her at this point.
"Actually, I have to ride back with my mum and dad," Michaela said softly, not wanting to overstep. "But I'll see you both soon, okay?"
Myla nodded, still groggy, and gave her a sleepy wave. "Bye, Michaela," she murmured before her eyes drooped shut again.
Michaela felt a pang of regret as she watched Jenson tuck Myla into the back seat. She knew that she had made the right decision to not reveal their relationship just yet, but it was difficult to hide something so significant from such an astute little girl. With Myla drifting off into sleep, Jenson stood to his full height, studying the longing in Michaela's expression.
"We're going to be okay," he whispered, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "This was a great first step."
Michaela nodded, her eyes still watching Myla's peaceful face. "I know," she said, her voice filled with hope. "It's just hard to keep secrets from her. She's so perceptive."
"We'll tell her when the time is right," Jenson assured her, his hand giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. "For now, let's just enjoy what we have without the added pressure. The last thing I'd want is to ruin this for any of us, and tonight confirmed that I picked the right woman for this journey."
Michaela's heart swelled with love and hope. She nodded in agreement before leaning in to give him a kiss goodbye. "Thank you for being so patient with me," she said, her voice a soft whisper. "I know I'm... younger. But, I do love you."
Jenson returned the kiss, his eyes filled with affection. "And I love you too," he said. "Now go get some rest. I'll call you tomorrow?"
Michaela nodded, watching as Jenson drove away. She took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. The evening had gone better than she could have imagined, and she was grateful for her parents' openness to meeting Jenson and Myla.
The drive back to her parent's hotel was quiet, both her mother and father were lost in their own thoughts. Tobias spoke first a few minutes into the drive, breaking the silence.
"He seems like a good man, Miri," he said, his eyes observing the twinkle of the stars.
Miriam nodded, her eyes on her daughter. "He does," she said. "And Myla is a lovely girl. I can see why you're smitten."
Michaela couldn't help but smile at her mother's words. "I know it's a lot to take in," she said. "But I promise, I'm going to handle it as best I can."
Miriam reached over the seat to squeeze her shoulder. "We know you will, honey," she said. "We just want to make sure you're happy and that you know we're here to support you."
Tobias spoke up once more, his tone cautious as he broached the worry again. "But you do know you don't have to rush into anything, right?" he asked. "You've got your whole life ahead of you, and we don't want you to sacrifice your career or happiness for someone else or their kid for that matter."
Michaela nodded, feeling the weight of her father's words. "I know, Dad," she said softly. "But I can't help but feel like... this could be it. Like, this is what I've been waiting for."
Tobias met her eyes in the rearview mirror. "Just remember to be true to yourself, Mick," he said. "You're still young, and you've got so much ahead of you. Don't let anyone, not even someone you love, dictate your path."
Michaela nodded solemnly, taking in her father's advice. She knew her career was her priority, but she couldn't deny the joy Jenson and now, potentially, Myla brought to her life. As they pulled up to the hotel, she turned to her parents in the backseat. "Thank you for meeting them," she said, her voice filled with genuine gratitude. "It means a lot to me."
Miriam leaned over to kiss her cheek. "We just want what's best for you," she said. "But we can see that he makes you happy, and that's all that matters."
Michaela felt a warmth spread through her as she pulled the car around to the front of the hotel, allowing her parents the chance to exit before she pulled off to the garage to find parking. As she stepped out into the cool night air, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was standing at a crossroads. Her heart was full, but her mind raced with the potential complications of her intensifying relationship with Jenson and her blossoming bond with Myla.
Inside the hotel, she made her way to her room, her thoughts swirling. She knew her parents had her best interests at heart, but she also understood that the path she was choosing was not a conventional one. Her career was on the rise, and she had worked tirelessly to get where she was. Introducing a serious relationship and a child's feelings into the mix was something she had never anticipated.
Michaela's phone buzzed with a message from Jenson, asking if she had made it back safely. She replied with a simple heart emoji, unable to fully express the whirlwind of emotions she was experiencing. As she stepped into her hotel room, the quiet solitude allowed her thoughts to race impossibly faster. The potential future she had glimpsed during dinner was both tempting and daunting.
Her mind kept returning to Myla, her bright blue eyes and infectious enthusiasm. The idea of being a stepmother was one she had never seriously considered, but the ease with which she had interacted with the young girl tonight had planted a seed of curiosity in her heart. Was she ready for the responsibility and the joy that came with it? Michaela tossed and turned in bed that night, unable to find a comfortable position as the weight of the evening's events pressed down on her dreams. She thought of Jenson's reassurances, his love for Myla, and his commitment to making sure she felt included in their lives. It was clear that she had made an impact on the little girl, and that was something she could not ignore.

The Lovebirds' Audience
Synopsis: The girls joke around about your relationship with Bada, making fun of your chemistry and sly glances. Despite being referred to as a "power couple," you enjoyed each other's company and shared intimate moments that showed your bond. Despite their humorous comments, you valued their understanding of your special love story.
You and Bada's relationship had always been the talk of your very close group of friends. Whenever they were around each other, you and your friends, including Bada herself, couldn't help but become their unofficial narrators.
"Oh, there they are again, smiling and giving each other sly looks," Lusher said. "It's like watching a K-drama, for real."
Kyma: "Just look at how Bada leans in closer, brushing a stray strand of hair out of her—"
Tatter: "Girl, we know. They're in love. But do they have to be so disgustingly adorable about it?"
"I, for one, am living for this love story," said Minah. "It is like seeing a fairy tale come to real life."
Cheche: "I don't blame them at all. Y/N unnis has that effect on people. Look at Bada's face right now, for example."
"Bada unnie's face is practically glowing," says Sowoen. "It's like she's found the missing piece of her puzzle."
As You and Bada spent time together, they couldn't resist but chime in more with commentary:
"The way they steal little touches when they think no one is looking," said the Lusher. Classic."
Kyma said, "I've never seen Bada Unnie whipped like this before."
Tatter: "Remember when we used to call her the group's 'unnie'? Look at her now, she's more baby than anything else."
Minah: "They complete each other, like two pieces of a puzzle fitting perfectly."
Cheche: "They're like the power couple we never knew we needed."
"Their love story is one for the ages," Sowoen said. "I hope they realize how lucky they are to have found each other."
However, while the girls continued to narrate the love lives, Bada and you were alone, speaking in whispers and exchanging tender glances:
A stray hair was carefully tucked behind your ear by Bada as she leaned forward. Your laughing filled the room, and when your hands came together, your fingers intertwined as if they spoke different languages.
With a warm smile, you made patterns on Bada's palm as your eyes met in a quiet exchange that told of an infinite love.
"They're currently talking in silence," says Sowoen. I can't with these two."
The girls were joking around, but Bada and you found comfort in each other's company. You two were an example of an unimaginable love, a relationship that extended outside of the boundaries of their busy lives.
** "Okay, but seriously, do they even notice we're here?" questioned Lusher.
Minah said, "I don't believe so. They're in their own little world."
Bada couldn't help but be moved with appreciation as the other girls proceeded to jokingly recount their love story. The love they had found in each other meant more than how often they had been teased.
"GIRLS, I'M UP TO HERE WITH YOUR NONSENSE," said Bada.
You and youths girls burst into laughter, their teasing momentarily paused as you enjoyed the light-hearted moment. You and Bada exchanged knowing looks as a way of recognising your special bond.
In the end, Yours and Bada's love story continued to unfold, with the girls serving as both narrators and enthusiastic cheerleaders. Even though You and Bada were the target of funny taunts, you guys wouldn't have it any other way. After all, the girls were there to witness all of the delightfully charming moments of a love story.

You don’t have to answer this but I hope you read it. I just now saw that you wanted to settle things privately and I feel like a dick because
Well. I hope you’re doing alright and that you have lots of warm blankets and all your favorite drinks of choice nearby. ♥️ I was upset on your part. Lots of good vibes to you.
Hey, don't feel bad about it, I know your intentions were definitely not bad with this, and I'm very appreciative of the gesture regardless of how I wanted to handle things personally
What has been bothering me however is the way people are reacting about this being brought up to Neil
I know it can be mortifying to the fandom at large, but sometimes, some people on the internet won't stop or listen to reason unless some higher authority tells them to do so (which, in this case, it would be Neil), and the people who come to those higher authorities are only trying to make things right, it's all!
Also, he's got over a thousand asks on his inbox and he decided to pick this question to answer by his own volition
No one was pressuring him to do so and he's not going to leave the platform or close his askbox because someone gets a bit too personal with him, he's said before that he just deletes asks that make him uncomfortable, which wasn't the case here so that should tell people enough about it in my opinion (you are completely allowed to disagree)
I've also seen people considering this whole thing just "drama"-?
Listen, I know those people are not me and that theyre not in the position I'm currently at, and by God I hope they never EVER will be
But look. I haven't told anyone (besides 2 friends who watched everything unfold very closely and have helped me with receipt-safekeeping) all the details about this situation, nor have I gone out of my way to talk about it fully with anyone or allow myself to process this whole thing completely, but I assure you, it is not just drama
The way the buildup of all of this messed with me almost made me k-ll myself about a month ago
I can see why people would think it's just something silly since they don't have all the details (and I'm not planning on revealing them unless something big comes up), but please, to those people, think of that for a second, think of everything I haven't talked about. Just. Keep that in mind before you call this drama
I'd really appreciate that
#tw suicide#suicide mention#ughhhhh#thank you for the gesture btw#i knew neil would stand with anti bullying messaging because thats one of the things the dude preaches the most#but its nice to see it in action#even if he still scares me to death dncnmf#aneh answers#aneh cries

it's been over a month since lovely runner ended, and i haven't been able to watch literally any other k-drama.
the bar is so high because of this show — who can compare to sunjae and the soft devotion of his eyes when he looks at sol? i've never seen a male lead more in love. and who can compare to sol's unswerving loyalty + sacrifice and desire to save sunjae? there are few female leads who possess this much agency and strength.
i still think about this scene — the gentle radiance of sunjae's smile as sol cups his face: how utterly besotted he is at her slightest action. his love is so pure, so tender. it's healing just to look at it.
even though it was nerve-wracking watching lovely runner while it was airing, i'm so glad i did it — because the experience of witnessing sol and sunjae grow and blossom into beautiful adults determined to love each other at any cost was priceless.
i'm so grateful for the existence of this show. 💛💙

K-drama Drought...Or IS it?
Is there a k-drama drought, or are there less dramas to pick from in 2024?
Lately I've been feeling like there are no k-dramas to watch. I normally watch 4-6 AIRING k-dramas at a time (yes, I have a problem) and right now I am watching none. So I did a little search to see if there really ARE less k-dramas to choose from and from what I can gather, it's FACTS.
There are less k-dramas being made in 2024.
According to this article, last year there were 250 k-dramas produced but the shows were having trouble getting picked up by networks, so only about 150 made it onto the screen. This year? Only 40 k-dramas are slated to air for 2024 so far. That is a HUGE drop. And actors are having trouble getting work because there are less projects.
Time to hate on Netflix (my hobby)
You know I LOVE blaming the new streaming business model. You know, the one that churns through content, dropping whole shows just to get subscribers so they can tell their investors about "growth"? I'm guessing all of these larger companies (disney+, netflix, amazon prime) are creating a vaccuum because people are watching those over regular networks. The funding is probably just not there since there is so much competition.
Obviously I'm guessing and I'm not a data analyst, just a k-drama girlie missing all of her shows. But I always felt like netflix changing the landscape of television has it's cons and I think this is a major one.
I couldn't find any other articles to verify these numbers, but a few other ones talking about how netflix k-dramas aren't doing well (and by well they just mean they aren't "squid game" and in the top 10, and that's all these large companies care about. Because of that they are also putting out less k-dramas. It sucks because I miss all of my tiny low budget k-dramas and those will never make it in the netflix world, but they can't get picked up by networks now either.
I could keep going but I'm having FEELINGS. I just hope networks decide to make decisions apart from netflix and that netflix stops caring about k-dramas as much to make room for that.

Adoration | Mark Imagine #7
Title: Adoration
Genre: Tooth-rotting fluff
Warnings: none really :)
Word Count: 612
Author's Note: Lol this idea came to me after seeing a clip of Mark on a video call fansign, where he was telling the fan that he's currently watching Queen of Tears. This made me so happy because I've also been watching the drama and feel so passionately about it. Anyway my mind started to wander and this little scenario came out of it. I tried my best not to include spoilers of the show in the story though. Thank you for reading and hope you like it ^ ^
°♪°•°∞°•°♪°•°∞°•°♪°•°∞°•°♪°•°∞°•°♪°•°∞°•°♪°•°∞°•°♪°∞°•°♪°∞°
Frustration brewed in your eyes, as heat rose to your cheeks, while your heart was pounding. Your fingers curled further into your palms, as unkind words traveled to the tip of your tongue. Yet, before they could be vocalized, the dark-haired man on your left said them instead.
“No, but why did he do that though?!” Mark yelled, throwing his arm out in a gesture to the screen.
A part of you wanted to laugh at your boyfriend’s reaction to the final scene playing out on the television before you. Since the premiere of Queen of Tears, you and Mark have been avidly following the series together. However, you were a few episodes behind due to Mark’s busy schedule and your commitment to watching it together. It took considerable restraint to avoid looking at spoilers on Instagram or YouTube.
On the other hand, the equal measure of anger within you overpowered any sense of amusement. A louder-than-intended sigh slipped past your lips.
“Ugh, I hate Yoon Eunsung so much for trying to ruin Haein’s family,” you fumed, gripping the remote. “I swear, I just knew he was going to use that tactic to sabotage them too!”
Mark leaned back on the couch, echoing your dissatisfaction. “I know right? You were so on point though with predicting that it was gonna happen.”
“Yeah, but it doesn’t mean I’m happy that I was right!” you exclaimed, sounding as if you were almost about to cry from annoyance.
Any hint of exasperation Mark was feeling simmered down, as you continued to vent about the episode. Now that he observed you passionately recounting every prediction you made about the characters’ actions that had had occurred in the episode. Your hair was slightly tousled, and your hands gestured animatedly, emphasizing your frustrations. This was a rare sight from someone who was usually so composed and reserved.
Your shoulders slumped when you caught the distraction in his eyes, prompting a look of confusion from you. “Mark, are you even listening to what I’m saying?”
“No, I am babe,” he reassured with a chuckle. “I’ve just never seen you this fired up before.”
Your expression softened, and the flush on your cheeks transitioned to one of embarrassment. His comment brought to mind your tendency to get overly passionate about certain things that provoked you.
“Sorry, I just got so worked up,” you mumbled, sheepishly brushing a loose lock of hair out of your face.
However, Mark was quick to pull you into his arms. “Don’t apologize, I think it’s endearing.”
His embrace was so warm and loving, it felt like he was wrapping you in all the adoration he had for you. Yet, it made you just want to hide your face in his hoodie because you were still flustered.
“Well I’m grateful you’re more reassuring than Baek Hyunwoo is,” you said, resting your chin on his shoulder. “Seriously, I’ve never seen so much miscommunication in a relationship before.”
You felt your boyfriend smile, pulling back slightly to stroke your hair. “And I’m glad you’re not as closed off like Hong Haein.”
“Hey, she has every right to be—” you started to protest, before catching yourself.
Mark nearly convulsed with laughter as he crashed you into another hug. “Ah, cute!”
Feeling embarrassed once more, you lightly smacked his shoulder, though it did nothing to stop the boy from gushing over you. But you couldn’t help but smile too, finding warmth in the moment. Both of you knew that the upcoming episodes of this drama would only bring more stress. However, at least you could share your frustrations openly, while all Mark could think about was how infatuated he was with you.

UGH!-10: It's Too Early For This Shit
Nuts - by RM [Right Place, Wrong Person]
[Music is a very big part of my life and I’m MOSTLY INCAPABLE of writing without music, so I just thought I’d share what I am listening to while writing this]
–🐺–🐺–🐺–
⚠️ super angry post ahead ⚠️
I've just opened the blue bird App and I'm already done for the day.
"the travel show should've been these two. I'm very fond of their dynamic", "so true. It would've been more interesting more fun and less drama", "Heavy on the less drama. We'd also be having discussions too, the way we are massively ignoring the current one is sending me-", "ikrrr😭😭 also actual and long conversations between them" ...
Is it so fucking hard to just not give into the people you swear on your life you are "protecting your fave" from? Is it so hard respecting your faves decisions? Is it so hard to ... I dunno ... express your frustration without having to shit on someone else who has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING?
So you are frustrated that 🐰solos, 🐻solos, and 🐰🐻ers are in 🐥's business as always? Okay. AND? That should never stop you from watching the show your fave worked so hard on! You support your fave, you show him that his will, wishes and opinions do matter and YOU REPORT THE MOTHERFUCKERS, YOU IGNORE THE MOTHERFUCKERS, AND YOU MOVE THE FUCK ON, FFS!
It is really as simple as that.
KPOPPIES and their mamas have been against 875 since time immemorial, yet here we are, supporting them because supposedly we think they are worth our support and them pursing their dreams. Imagine going "I wish 875 disbanded because we have to report antis everyday" ... in 2024? on the Blue Bird App? Really now?? Where've you been Fam?! On Blue Bird Dot Com IT BE LIKE THAT. In K-MEDIA it be like that. In The Streets of the World with ignorant people It be Like THAT!!
Being AMI is not easy. It is frustrating many a time, it is angering many a time, it is downright aggravating many a time, but you'll never see me disrespect ANY of the members because other people in the world are dickheads. NO BRO.
You sad? Stay off SM for a day or two. You mad? Bitch with your friends offline, rant on a post, and/or start boxing, I dunno! But whatever it is ALWAYS 👏🏾 AIM 👏🏾 YOUR 👏🏾 RAGE 👏🏾 AT 👏🏾 THE 👏🏾 RIGHT 👏🏾 TARGET 👏🏾 .
Certain people resorting to hate 🐥 and viceversa IS NEVER going to be 🐰's fault and viceversa .
🐥 loves all his hyungs, and arguably 🐿️ is the one he is closest to. But he also loves all "his" maknaes, and you don't have to believe he is even close to 🐰 but YOU WILL RESPECT the fact that for a good 7 years at the very least ever since GCF Tokyo came to be, both 🐥 and 🐰 seem to really not give TWO FLYING FUCKS about what any of us have to say about the time they choose to spend together. So much so that, not only did they do a whole show together, but where and with whom are they now? 🦻🏾 ...
Yes. I thought so.
Also more interesting more fun ... actual and long conversations you are just a hating hoe for that. Two people not being chatterboxes doesn't mean there is anything wrong with tem. Not your cup of tea? Move on alone, no need to shit on it. Sure 🐥🐿️ may have a more "marketable" dynamic from 🐥🐰 but maybe, just maybe, 🐥 wasn't completely aiming at entertaining, in fact on multiple occasions they even said they weren't sure if this would air at all, but they weren't bothered.
In fact, if you ask me, this particular show aired because it wasn't like every other show so hellbent on trying to entertain. It aired because this were two people who actually ended up entertaining while constantly reminding themselves that they had to, and mainly failing to do so. So fuck you wholeheartedly.
If any of the other members want to have their show I'll be up for any pairing, any trio, etc and it will be just as special and interesting in its own way. If it ends up being shit ... I can assure you it will probably not air which would be a shame because i would watch anything my boys want to show us.
Just, it would be great if for once, some people could stop the hate-comparison and try the appreciation-despite, it goes a long way, and for the looks of it, 🐥 & 🐰 are not going to stop until their 50 so ... yeah.
I'm so fucking angry obviously,
Marengo.
PS - If anyone tries to come at me saying that I hate 🐥🐿️ I'LL END YOU.

3:15AM - Choi Soobin
Synopsis: "It's a quarter after three, saying everything that we mean." Going out is always fun, but coming home is always the best part.
Pairing: idol! Choi Soobin x fem reader Genre: Fluff! Established relationship, tiny bits of smut if you squint but it's more so mentioned
Word Count: 2.4k
My hand loosely held onto Soobin's as I led the way toward my apartment. The sound of my heels clicking against the floor and Soobin's footsteps behind me filled the hallway. Last call at the bar was at 2:30am, which sounded like a good time to head home. It was currently 3:00am.
Life lately has gotten in the way of the two of us getting to spend time together. With Soobin, his attention was required at the company. He was either at dance practice, recording vocals for a new song, or attending meetings to help make decisions that would be best for the group. With me, I've been working towards finishing my undergraduate degree which translated to long hours studying either at home or on campus, attending lecture after lecture, and working at my part-time campus job. It meant that time for just Soobin and I was nearly non-existent.
It was a miracle that this Friday night, neither of us were needed somewhere. Soobin wasn't the type of guy to go out, unlike Yeonjun or Taehyun. He much preferred nights in which we could cuddle up on the couch, watch a K-drama, and bake goodies that could be eaten throughout the weekend. While I normally never turned down such an opportunity to forget about the world and be with my boyfriend, I desperately needed to be around other people. I needed to socialize and rejoin society after being cooped up in the library working on a research paper. My best friend suggested that we get dressed up to feel our best and head out to the bars. Surprisingly, Soobin jumped on the opportunity to come out with the girls.
I never liked being the girl who had to have her boyfriend come out to the bars. If I was going to go out with my friends, I was going to go out with them. It was actually my friends that asked if I wanted to bring Soobin. I can still recall the texts in the group chat.
"We know how much you miss him, y/n. Bring him!" "Yeah, it wouldn't hurt to have a guy around if we decide to bar-hop." "Soobin center!"
"You know you can say no," I said to Soobin. I was getting ready in my bedroom, my back turned towards him as I faced my vanity. My dominant hand held my mascara wand, gently zig-zagging across my eyelashes to get the maximum volume.
"Babe, trust me. I would say no if I didn't want to go. I like your friends. And more importantly, I want to spend time with my girl." Soobin spoke as he slowly approached me. Soon, his arms wrapped loosely around my neck from behind with his chin resting on the top of my head. A gentle smile curled onto my lips as I looked at our reflection. He had just gotten his hair cut with the bangs now falling just short of his eyes. He wore a similar smile on his lips which caused me to feel warm in my stomach. His eyes looked into mine through the reflection.
I knew there was no fighting it. Soobin was coming out to girls' night.
"Aren't you glad I tagged along?" He asked, smirking slightly.
I nodded and giggled. "Yes, of course. I just thought you'd be bored." "Bored? Come on, you and your girls are the life of the party!" "We are really a fun group, huh?"
I could still remember how my friends dragged Soobin to the dance floor. He initially wanted to stand back and allow us to have the space to have fun. Soobin was the ideal guy tonight, not just as my partner, but as a gentleman to all my friends. He started the night by buying a round of shots for the group. He then would check on people to see if they needed water or offered to watch our stuff. Yet, when my best friend saw Soobin sitting in the booth, she decided that had to change. They all encouraged him to join them before pulling him up once he shook his head no. Let's just say, dancing on a packed dance floor is not his niche. There is a reason he preferred dancing on stage and sharing the space with only four other people.
Our footsteps stopped until I reached the door of my unit. The number 345 that were made up of gold-painted metal was nailed to the front door. I had a small brown welcome mat outside, so guests could wipe their feet before entering my apartment. Even though they would slip their shoes off anyways the moment they walked in.
"You know, as much as I loved spending time with you and your friends, there was one thing I kept thinking about," Soobin stated. I hummed lightly under my breath, indicating for him to continue. I had my body slightly turned away from him, fishing for my keys in my pursue. All I could think about was getting back into bed with my boyfriend, getting off my weary feet that ached from dancing. It probably didn't help I chose high heels to wear for tonight.
I was about to put my key in the door, when I felt Soobin's arms wrapped around me. I giggled softly, going to continue unlocking the door when Soobin pulled me in closer. I shivered when I felt his lips against the shell of my ear.
"All I could think about was getting to be home with you."
Without much delay, I managed to unlock the door despite my head spinning thanks to Soobin. His tone and words kept replaying in my head. My heart picked up a bit as I knew now I got to be with Soobin, uninterrupted. It's been tough the past couple of days where Soobin would get home and I was still asleep, or when I was getting up to start my day but he was still sleeping from the night before. That was when he stayed over. There were times when we sometimes would go days without talking to each other besides a simple "goodnight" or "good morning" text, ensuring that we were still thinking of the other person.
Soobin pushed open to my apartment, allowing me to walk in. Quickly, I slipped off my heels. The relief my feet were feeling thanked me for showing some mercy. Soobin chuckled, probably overhearing my sigh, before pressing a kiss to the side of my head. I glanced behind me to see the front door had already been locked. Good job, Soobin. I then turned my heads as I watched his figure move and he walked in the direction of my bedroom, probably where he had placed his belongings since he was staying the night.
I, on the other hand, went towards my bathroom to get rid of my makeup. I had a loose tee-shirt that was folded neatly on my countertop that I could get changed into while Soobin changed.
I opened the cabinet of my bathroom, got out the makeup wipe packet, and pulled one out. I took a few wipes to rid of the mascara, eyeliner, and concealer around my eyes. It felt so nice to get not just the makeup off, but also wipe off some of the sweat gathered from dancing and walking around the city late at night. I then took another wipe to wipe off the lipstick that coated my lips.
Once all the makeup was off of my face, I smiled at my bare face. Soobin always made it known how much he loves my bare face. He loved seeing the freckles that decorated the bridge of my nose and underneath my eyes. He loved connecting the moles that hugged my jawline and cheeks. But if you ask him, feeling my face was his favorite thing. He liked the feeling of being able to cup my cheeks without worrying about smearing makeup. He loved being able to plant kisses all over without restraint. Seeing that there was no makeup left, I tossed the used wipes in the trash.
I was about to unzip my dress but found that my arms weren't able to reach all the way across. Fuck. Good thing I have a partner who can help.
I opened the door to the bathroom, peaking my head out. The TV was off and no lights in the front of the apartment were on. My eyes then looked over toward my bedroom where not only I could hear the shuffling of footsteps but also see my bedroom light on. "Soobs?"
"Yes, my love?" He called out. He had stepped out of my bedroom, a gentle but sleepy smile tugged onto his lips. He was wearing a white tee shirt and black sweatpants, socks still on his feet. His body was relaxed, not standing in a complete posture like he had to when he was out in public or at the company. He took his role not just as an idol seriously but didn't eat to give anyone the wrong impress of him. He looked absolutely adorable.
"Can you please help unzip me?" "It would be a pleasure."
He shuffled his way over towards me. I turned slowly with my back towards him, moving my hair so it was over my shoulder and out of his way. I rocked gently back and forth on my heels in anticipation, waiting for him to come to free me so I could get changed and crawl into bed. His hand reached over to rest on my hip, getting me to calm my body. His other hand gently grasped onto the silver zipper on the back of my dress, pulling it down gently.
"You are the most gorgeous woman I've ever met. How did I get so lucky?" He whispered. As the dress loosened around my torso, I slipped the sleeves down. The exposed skin was greeted with lips pressing across the back of my neck and my shoulder blades. A warm blush covered my cheeks as I kept my head down. I held the dress up to keep my breasts concealed as I had gone braless for the evening.
Soobin and I have been intimate plenty of times, but tonight, there was no rush to get to bed. There was no rush to feel him that close, to see the stars with him. I craved the closeness of just knowing he was close by, to be safe and loved in his arms. I'm sure the morning might tell a different story as we've already been deprived of one another.
"Seriously, y/n, baby. Such a gentle heart and completely breathtaking." The dress was close to falling off my body when I felt Soobin remove his presence. "Don't keep me waiting much longer," he said teasingly before disappearing into my bedroom again.
I have never gotten changed so fast before in my life. I left the dress pooled on the floor of my bathroom. I grabbed the tee shirt that was on my counter. It was an old New York Jets tee shirt that was two sizes too big but I got for $2 at the thrift store. It was perfect for nights like this. I slipped the tee shirt on. The shirt was like its own mini dress, stopping short of my thighs. Just one last thing to do.
After turning the lights off in my bathroom, I walked in the direction of my bedroom. I walked to Soobin. I gently pushed the bedroom door open but then closed it behind me. The only light in my room now came from the moonlight shining in. All I could focus on was Soobin.
He was sitting up in my bed, top blanket covering his legs. He had my pink scrunchie hugged around his wrist. Soobin started the small gesture when I stayed over at the dorms but had no scrunchie to put my hair up. He was stuck running all over the dorm, asking all the guys if they had something to use. He then insisted that I should never settle for a regular ponytail again, that I should always have an emergency scrunch nearby. Hence, why he started putting a scrunch around his wrist so he no longer wasted time looking for one and could stay next to me.
He was scrolling through his phone, not noticing me in the bedroom quiet yet. He might have been texting the boys or posting messages for moas on Weverse. How did I get so lucky? Soon enough, as I walked further into the room, Soobin seemed to take notice. He smiled at me before quickly putting his phone on the charger by the nightstand. He turned towards me then. He pushed the comforter out so I could easily slip into the bed, knowing I like to be extra warm in bed especially now that it was getting close to winter. His arms stretched out wide and ready to greet me in his arm embrace.
"You're so silly," I giggled. Without hesitation, I found myself crawling into bed beside him. My arms snaked around his torso, curling into his side. He laughed as I had clung onto him like a koala. He wrapped his arm around me, tightening a bit to get me as close as possible. His other hand moved to make sure I was covered with the sheets as I got comfortable in bed. "But I hope you never change, baby."
"You have my word, angel. I don't intend on changing anytime soon. The only thing I plan on changing is maybe your last name," he whispered. His voice was a bit low and raspy, but it sent bells ringing in my ears. What?
I looked up at him, opening my mouth to question what he meant. He simply just winked and kissed the top of my head. "Nothing, sweetheart. We can talk about it more in the morning. But right now, it is 3:15am and we're both exhausted."
I would interrogate him in the morning. However, the mention of sleep sounds more appealing even though I was curious about my boyfriend's intentions with me. At least we seem to be on the same page.
"You're so lucky I'm-" I yawned mid-sentence. "Sleepy," I spoke softly, my head finding its spot between his neck and shoulder.
He squeezed my body once more as he slid down my bed. "Me too, angel. I want to enjoy being in bed with you for as long as possible." He kissed my forehead once more before my eyes claimed victory and began to close.
"Goodnight, baby. Dream of me as I dream of you."
