just finished Tender is the Flesh, loved it, sat on a pool floatie and read the whole thing in one sitting, couldn't put it down, cried like a baby at the end.

almost done with Cows, really gross, lmao, can't really say much else regarding it, has made me physically recoil several times, i can't stand when splatterpunk targets children or animals and i always have to stop reading and i'm nervous that's where this ones going so might end up not finishing this one.

Century of Love Live Blogging

For a couple weeks before this show's release, I had been getting some DaouOffroad videos on my Twitter timeline and man, I was really getting into them despite never having watched Love in Translation. I knew this was releasing 2 eps a week and the concept was interesting enough, so was eyeing this for live-watching since like July 2, a week before the show released. Now I'm finally watching it after my other on-air shows (My Stand-In, Wandee Goodday) are done and 6 episodes of this have released. People seem to be really liking this, even though some people were critical about the concept once the trailer was released. Hope I love it, I enjoyed To Sir, With Love which I think is the same team? Gotta love a lakorn BL.

Ep 1 (July 27)

dang, he's plainly telling his grandmother about the fake wedding and getting paid for it and she doesn't seem to care. kinda interesting, i'd expect more scolding and disapproval

ah, especially because San believe Vee got injured in a fight to protect the stone from the thieves, not knowing that Vee was stealing it himself

the stone stealing has to come back some time later for angst purposes, right? can't be a secret forever...?

ah, the Prince Trai who killed Wad accidentally is back as Wee's friend and doctor Third

omg nightmare where Wee takes Wad's place in the dying scenario...

I mean she's correct that Vee did steal the stone to save his grandma but... she's too eager to declare she doesn't think Vee is trustworthy... then again, if we were following a story of a reincarnated Wad who comes to the house to find somebody else has been thought of have been her and is living the life that's supposed to be hers and has fooled everybody into trusting them, we'd be on Wadfah's side in this story

San in tears after confirmation that Vee stole the stone omgggg

THIS IS SO FUCKING SAD, THE WHOLE FAMILY FEELING BETRAYED and the story of Vee trying to originally steal it resurfacing even though they thought he'd tried to protect this whole time omggg

stoppp don't think about the cute good and hot times while looking at your bed you shared with Vee, San :( also they do a whole lot of flashbacks to scene we've seen (and repeatedly too like 5 times seeing flashbacks of the same scene), so I'm glad that they showed a completely new cute scene of them together.

this fucking perfume coming up multiple times T.T

ahhh San's intense confrontation with Third omg, this was so good and it felt in character with both of them and the amount of drama/the conclusions that people drew from the confrontation also made sens

okay I just feel like San should at least bring up Wadfah's lack of reaction to seeing Third what the hell

nooo my poor Juu crying nooooooooo

San kneeling in front of Wadfah gave me a heart attack like omg 120smth year old guy please get up

OH MY GOD WE'RE REALLY GETTING SAN CHOOSING VEE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER HE IS WAD OR NOT AHHHH

now why did it start raining and thunder and lightning appears

girl, Wadfah outright asking for the 5 coloured stone... if the antagonists sent her, then they could've sent her to get the strong from San out of his own will

tears down Nuwa's face pls

whelp goodbye stone. i don't think San has another stone decoy to give to her

ah, he's again weak and in pain as the stone is far away

Wadgah's delighted smile while looking at the stone...

The angst is so good because it's something tangible and real and has been leading up to this for the whole show and there are so many people involved like San and Vee but also the family and Wadfah and the stakes are so high (100 years of waiting, true love, death if we have the wrong person, etc.). Becuase of it all, the angst doesn't feel over-dramatic or drawn-out, like this is big enough that people would be having these sorts of reactions. Similarly with San and Third's conflict, that was also violent and dramatic but it makes sense that San would get angry with Third because he's been jealous of him from the beginning and can't let go of Third's past life Trai's crimes while Trai is like mad but not over-the-top until he sees Wadfah and thinks San cheated and so everything came crashing down; the escalation to the punch and yelling made sense then. ahhh so good

I got San choosing Vee without knowing whether he's the real Wad or not, which was great and incredible (even though it hasn't led to their romance again yet) and even gave up his fucking stone for it. We also know Wadfah isn't really a good person and was after the stone. Ideally for me, I think the show would have Wadfah indeed be Wad's reincarnation but just be a different, worse person - not the same Wad as a century ago, the same way Third is a better person than Trai a century ago (unless he too is hiding something and is secretly a villain...). So have Vee and San end up together even though Vee's not Wad. However, I think maybe Vee really is Wad because somebody's gonna have to feed San that stone and if Wadfah's not a good person, we're gonna have to have Vee do it. so idk maybe neither of them are 1-1 Wad's reincarnation since we know both Vee and Wadfah share similar fates? and were born same time and place nad the stone glowed for them both... so maybe Vee and Wadfah could both have the power to feed San and Vee ends up doing it.

What a good episode omg

Although that's not to say everything was perfect and dandy; I think some more reasoning or conflict from Vee's end about stealing the stone would have been good. Like stealing it again without any thought to San? crazy. they should've at least had something like Vee believes very strongly that San would be fine without the whole stone, just a little bit. or like when Vee asks San for the stone, we don't see what San says except no but maybe they could've had San downplay the problems if the stone was gone and just been like no, not worth it to make your grandma be in pain, making Vee think there aren't too many consequences from San's end. or SOMETHING because it's wild how callously he just stole it and ran. or at least stronger sense of regret once he come out of the panic of thinking his grandma was dying and being like omg what have i done? i was in a zone when thinking about my grandma dying that i didn't stop to think omg like at least acknowledge it on text.

Also, Wandee’s necklace returning scene was a let-down fr, so I’m glad it hurt more and had more weight here

Okay somebody mentioned that in First Love, Again (I've watched this kbl but don't remember a single thing), the reincarnation started 1 cycle earlier and during that time the 2 men were together? or smth? and so maybe there was an earlier incarnation of Vee and San and then San and Wad came later. Also I'm nosy and forgot and so went to look through First Love Again, wasted 10 minutes of my time but couldn't find that part while skimming. whelp

Ep 8 (Aug 1)

ummmm why did I see some screenshots on Twitter with San clutching Vee's (??) body on the floor and crying... If this episode doesn't end happily/ends on a cliffhanger, I'm gonna lose my shit

A little late but was tagged by @klutenpetter to do a thing! It supposed to be 9 each of like games, TV, movies, etc that you enjoyed for the first time in 2023, but like him I'm just gonna do nine piece of media overall. I'll do my layout of pictures, showcasing each one via the character(s) that were my favorite from each piece of media, and in the order in which I saw them (approximately).

Buddy Daddies, Jan 2023. Super cute original anime. Really enjoyed the QPR thing the MCs had going on. You don't get a lot of found family media like that.

Golden Kamuy, March 2023. I was sick with the flu and binge read the entire series in like a week. LOVED IN. Filled with beefy studs and its a fun ride from start to end!

Psycho Pass, May 2023. I got into cyberpunk recently and gave this a whirl. Really enjoyed the first season, not so much everything that came after tho LOL.

Komi-San, June 2023. I'll be real, I never would have picked this for myself to watch, be me and boys have been watching stuff together and this was a pick from one of them. My first impression was this was just another dumb waifu bait show, but honestly its super cute and super funny. I enjoyed it a lot and can't wait for season 3!

Yakuza Kiwami, June 2023. I started Yakuza Zero, got halfway through and then stopped in 2022, and finally finshed Zero and got through Kiwami last year. I enjoyed it way more than Zero. I really enjoy Kiryu as a character and hope to start the next game soon!

Undead Girl Murder Farce, July 2023. A seasonal anime I picked up and enjoyed greatly. I think its a fun use of public domain characters and the OCs were delightful. I hope we get another season! It was a real sleeper hit for the season I think.

Columbo, August 2023. Yeah, I watched my first episode of Columbo because of a mystery kick UGMF put me on. The first episode I watched naturally was the first episode. I watched another episode on Christmas. I really enjoy this character, I wish I had more free time for this.

Slay the Princess, November 2023. An indie game I've had my eye on for a while because of ManlyBadassHero. The full thing came out and I really enjoyed it! I highly recommend it if you like spooky and romantic things.

Good Will Hunting, December 2023. Its a classic movie, and its been meme'd to death, and yet I've never watched it before now (Its not [my] fault). On my flight to Spain the plane had tablets built in for every seat where we could watch movies and stuff so I took that opportunity to watch a bunch of films I had never seen before (others were Top Gun, John Wick, and Elemental (which I saw in 2024 but otherwise I enjoyed it the most, a morbid curiosity/hate-watch that I loved unironically). I also got halfway through Mission: Impossible but ran out of time.) I'd recommend giving this a go if you haven't seen it. Its a classic for a reason and might give you dark academia peeps a good time LOL.

Movie: it wasn't my first time watching it, but Princess Mononoke was definitely my movie this year. Every time I watch it I have to spend like five hours just thinking about it. The depth. The detail. The art. The music. Fucking impeccable movie

TV show: Trigun Stampede!!!! I'm so fucking obsessed with this show. The animation is so smooth and gorgeous, the action scenes are sick as fuck, I LOVE a dystopia sci-fi setting, and the characters and plot are so engaging and fascinating. I cannot wait for a season two (god there had better be a season two)

Book: okay I haven't finished it yet but I'm gonna go with Articulate Flesh: Male Homoeroticism & Modern Poetry by Gregory Woods. I've always loved poetry and queer history and culture and this book goes super in depth with it (specifically focused on homoerotic poetry of the 20th century), especially discussing how the sexuality of a poet and artist in general can be vital to the interpretation and understanding of their work. Extremely good book

Album: gotta be Intention by Watsky. Absolutely baller album and I was so lucky to see him live during his last ever tour under the Watsky name this past spring. WHAT'S THE MOVE was my number one song on spotify this year for good reason lol

Food: it's not fancy but I got super into making turkey sandwiches in this really specific way earlier this year and they just fucking slap. Had one like two days ago

New thing: uhhh probably my relationship!! Met my partner at the end of February and we've been dating ever since, it's the healthiest relationship I've ever had!! Love him to bits

Misc: I went to a rock show for the first time this year and got soooo many cool rocks. Very excited to go again next year

Q: What’s your favorite place on earth?

A: Shinjuku Gyoen. It's beautiful and you can just lose yourself on a nice afternoon with a sketch pad and some charcoal.

Q: What’s one place you’ve visited that you never want to return to?

A: Can I say this? Should I? Okay... here goes. Our staff chiropractor's office? He's a nice old man, and he's very good. But swear I've seen his table in history books showing torture devices. Kowai!

Q: What’s the best show on TV right now?

A: This is my guilty pleasure. I *love* Kamen Rider. I never miss an episode. So right now, it's Kamen Rider Gotchard.

Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: A text that Viktor Von Kaiser sent me the day after my fight with Niki. I shared it with her as soon as I read it and we both cried ugly tears. It meant so much and showed me the camaraderie that my brother talks about around here.

Q: What’s the one item of clothing you couldn’t live without?

A: My apron. Painting is my calming place right now. My art apron was a gift from my mother on my tenth birthday. Don't know what I'd do without it.

Q: If you could only bring three things with you on a deserted island, what would you pick?

A: Um... a boat and two 55 gallon drums of gas? No... Niki tried something like that? Of course, she did... lol! Then I guess my watercolors, my brushes, and the biggest box of watercolor paper I can find.

Q: If you could save one material thing from a fire, what would you save?

A: My apron. No contest.

Q: What’s your biggest pet peeve?

A: How to explain it? People don't try new things because they fear... failure. It's okay to fail. That's where lessons are learned. That's where we grow. It's one thing to not try because you are incapable or uninterested, it's another it's a fear of failure holding you back. There are people that will rally around you if you try and you let them.

Q: What is your favorite movie of all time?

A: That's so hard! Just one?! Okay... okay... if I've got to pick one, then it's Howl's Moving Castle. Warning to all the readers out there, respect fire or your pork products will never be safe.

Q: What is the best concert you have ever been to?

A: This is so cheesy, but it was in 2012. I was, like, 6 years old. It was the Kamen Rider × Super Sentai Live and Show. The big shows then were Kamen Rider Fourze and... oh yeah... Gokaiger! Sugoi!

Q: What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on?

A: So, I don't really date. I'm a homebody. I'd rather relax with my canvas and palette in a garden or curl up and watch a movie or hit the gym and train. But, I promise you, Niki's trying to change that! She might have a future as a nakōdo if she ever gets sick of computers.

Q: Would you rather be hot or cold?

A: This is weird. I'd rather be cold because it's easier to stay warm than cool. But... your girl *LOVES* waterparks! And Six Flags White Water and Hurricane Cove here in Atlanta... hanpa nai!

Q: What’s your favorite karaoke song?

A: I know I said I don't go out, but I do love some karaoke. Switch On by Anna Tsuchiya is probably my favorite. Just so nostalgic.

A: Sugar Ray Robinson was one of the great boxers ever, but this quote... it's poetry and so true. "Every move you make starts with your heart."

Q: What was the best meal you ever ate?

A: A: This is going to be so weird... before we left Japan, I begged to go to the Billy the Kid Steakhouse in Koto-ku. It's owned by Kurata Tetsuo, Kamen Rider Black. And it was awesome!

Q: What’s your least favorite genre of music?

A: No one can explain death metal to me. I just don't understand. Niki said the same thing? No way!

Q: Do you like coffee or tea better?

A: Tea. I'm such a tea snob. My apartment is almost a shrine to tea, all kinds. I even love your southern iced tea. It's so refreshing on a summer day as I practice my calligraphy or read a book.

Since you recently answered three of my asks, I'm just gonna respond in a single ask because I don't want to crowd your inbox.

1. Ah, that's really cool that Phil likes Portrait so much. I love the rock sound to it. Every time I hear the opening chords, I always want to mix it with cmwyl because for some reason, I want to sing "i've never been a fan of the internet".

And I just watched the music video for Portrait today. It's so sick! Ted did an amazing job.

2. I listened to Katawaredoki, and it's so beautiful!

What are your other favorite movie/tv show soundtracks and/or composers? John Powell and his work on httyd will always be in my top. Sometimes soundtracks are just better than other music.

3. I finished songs of change! It's so good! I love the scene where Wilbur realized that his yearning for Phil and Techno's presence/company was not the instincts but purely himself. Ugh, this is why found family is my favorite. I honestly think it started with clinic.

And at the end when Wilbur and Schlatt still see each other on the seas! *chef's kiss*

That's really cool about the background OCs. I bet if you ever wrote a story/novel with original characters, it would be amazing because your characterization is so good! Though, I also understand the benefits of having characters already pre-made for you to just throw into different angst and fluff scenarios.

Thank you for answering the ask game! I love getting a different flavor of boba every time I go, so I'm always asking people on their favorites. I've sampled thai tea (tumblr, stop saying that I spelled it wrong) before, but never a full drink. Can't wait to try different combos!

yes the portrait video is SO good ted did so so good

oh yes finally I get to ramble about my favorite soundtracks. my top three movie composers (in no particular order) are

Trent Reznor and Atticuss Ross (they always work together on soundtracks so I'm counting them as one). My favorite soundtrack of theirs is the Gone Girl soundtrack but my second favorite is The Social Network soundtrack. Both have such distinct tones to them I love them so much

Ramin Djawadi who is obviously a very well-known composer since he did Game of Thrones. I haven't watched GoT but I have watched House of the Dragon and adored his soundtrack for it, but my favorite of his is actually the Westworld s1 soundtrack. It's so eerie and soft with dashes of fun jaunty western tunes at the same time it's such a unique sound.

and lastly, Nicholas Britell who is the genius behind the Succession soundtrack for all 4 seasons. The soundtrack for that show is so distinct with its blend of hip hop foundational elements (like an 808 beat) with heavy orchestra strings, and it's absolutely stunning. The title theme is amazing, but there are so many tracks I'd just listen to on loop if it didn't ruin my spotify wrapped

and ty I'm so glad you enjoyed songs of change!! yes I loved including that moment of it was never really the instincts it was just wilbur. I feel like it was a fun subversion on the way instincts work in a lot of fics in this fandom (no hate to other instinct-driven fics, I just wanted to do my own twist on it)

tysm I hope I can get the time + motivation to write more original stuff soon. I definitely haven't stretched my oc building muscles in a few years so hopefully I'm still decent at making my own characterization lol

I highly highly recommend thai tea. it's sooo good although the place you get it from really makes or breaks it. there was this pho place near my college campus I used to go to all the time, and that has always been my gold standard for thai tea it was so good there and I've never found any that hits just as much as that did

Iwouldn’t be able to do this in Spanish if not for the insane support my English community has brought me throughout the years. Love and appreciate you all so much ❤️; It may not seem out of the ordinary but being able to do all this in Spanish as well has been a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. I feel so blessed to have TWO amazing communities. Cant wait to bring a lot more incredible content to everyone!!!!

You guys have given me these opportunities and I’m so fucking grateful to have TWO massive and supportive communities!

6/15/22: For the next 3 days (or less) I’m participating in a huge Spanish Minecraft event on my alt Twitch channel :-) Super appreciative of those who come and support the streams despite not knowing Spanish. In one of these days I’ll raid into my main and do an English stream btw ^_^

3/20/22: i remember after working on my last lore stream every day from morning to night for a month, i remember the morning after the stream, i woke up at 5AM and i literally just went to the beach and sat there for an hour it was so nice. im so happy to see everyone getting the merch; i have so many projects in the works and i can’t wait to replicate this feeling many more times in my life

So I saw the Deadpool & Wolverine film a couple of days ago. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, and I might go to see it in the theaters for a second time eventually. There was so much to see that with my ADHD and memory issues, I keep getting new flashbacks about scenes in the film all day long, and there are several conversations I wish I could rewatch because they spoke to me but I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT THEY SAID :DDDDDDDD

So I either go see the film again (let's see what my executive dysfunctions says to that), or wait until it's released on bluray which is probably gonna take a couple of months still.

Anyway, since this is an MCU film now, I started thinking about, well, MCU. I wanna say "a few years back" but it was probably more like, almost 10 years ago cos wtf is time; anyway, back then I at some point had a flu and when I'm sick, I usually spend my time sitting on a sofa wrapped in blankets and watch movies. That winter I was bored and decided to give a try to some earlier MCU films that were on Netflix back then (I had already seen Iron Man, which I liked; and The Avengers, which I hated, and only liked Loki because I just like antihero-type characters and I related to him a bit too much as I was a bitter 21-year-old who was so bored of living in everyone's shadow lol), and I kinda hyperfixated on those. So much so I grew so desperate that I bought the missing movies on DVD only because I NEEDED to see more in order to see the rest on Netflix, and a few from the middle was missing, and I in no way could watch them cos I needed everything to be in the chronological order.

Later I ended up buying every single MCU film on bluray despite hating the Phase One apart from the Iron Man films. Also my sister kept buying me them for Christmas etc.

This ended somewhere in 2019 or 2020, because the last MCU bluray on my shelf is that second Spider-Man film that I don't remember the name of because they all are named so similarly it took me ages to realize there even was a third film out there. And I still don't like majority of the films until Phase Three, where I thought the films started to finally get some character. But there are still some films that just... are not that good. Some of them I have watched multiple times, but with some it makes my ADHD kick in and I just want to roll on the floor in agony when I just think about watching them for the second time cos they are so uninteresting or boring.

So looks like I have not seen a single film from the Phase Four on. The first film was released in 2021 (according to Wikipedia), and honestly, looking at that list of films makes me go both "WTF??????? WHO TF IS THAT???" and "oh whyyyyyyyy D:" and I am torn between my obsession with chronological order - in order to watch something, I HAVE TO watch anything that got released before it. Except that I don't want to. I don't give a fuck about most of those characters and their own movies. Also I have heard so much shit about many of these later films that I feel like they would not even be worth my time.

So might actually change this and maybe one day I will watch the ones that truly interest me. Especially the 4th Thor film. I hated the first two so much (they are not very romance-repulsed-friendly as they literally focus on nothing but Thor and his girlfriend), but the third film was really good because they left out all the useless romance nonsense and made an actually funny and interesting movie. And since the 4th is from the same director, I feel like it could be an okay film too.

I also like Antman's character in MCU and the first film, but I don't remember shit from the second one and I don't know if the third one is any good. But might check that out eventually. Oh and Guardians of the Galaxy films I have always liked, so the 3rd one sounds interesting as well.

Anyhow, Deadpool & Wolverine literally was the first MCU film I have seen since that second Spider-Man (oh and would like to see the third one too!), and then I did watch both seasons of Loki, which I did like actually. So apart from those, I know absolutely nothing about the current state of MCU. I'm sometimes a bit annoyed that DP got added to MCU, but at the same time it gives him so much more freedom to refer to different characters or even meet then in possible future films, just like what happens in the comics all the time. Tho, even with comics I'm often getting annoyed when they put Avengers in the stories cos I'm not here for Avengers, I'm here for Deadpool, so fuck off from my phone screen. Honestly would like to see DP interact move with the X-Men, or even Spider-Man, cos these were THE older Marvel films I grew up with and which I'm way more attached to than the dumbster fire called MCU.
