"𝐢 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐢 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐲𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲."
summary: jeongin x reader. falling out of love. author note: soo… i may or may not be adddicted to writing angst. also not proof read at all cos i’m lazy af ;-;
from lazy nights with you two sprawled on the couch, falling asleep in each other’s arms before the end of the film, to him having to do late night recording in the studio with Chan, and you binge watching shows in bed by yourself.
from him lying down next to you on the grass, watching with adoration in his eyes as you talked on and on about each star in the sky, to him complaining it was too cold to be stargazing and going to bed early while you sat alone, gazing up into the night sky.
“y/n, can we talk?”
it was funny how quickly the both of you adapted to using each others names. it felt better. baby or babe felt strained. fake. you looked up from your phone, managing a small smile. despair filled your heart at the sight of jeongin’s expression. it was angry, nor sad. it was simply empty. and that felt like a knife in the chest.
“yes?” your voice sounded rough as you responded. what was the point of sugar coating your words anyways? both of you were tired. tired of each other, tired of this… this love. or at least, something that you had once called love.
“where did it all go?” you flinched at the brokenness in his voice. you were tempted to ask him what he meant, but you knew full well.
where did he go? the caring, affectionate puppy that smothered you in kisses before work and sent you selfies so that you wouldn’t be lonely. the gentle boyfriend that insisted on buying the lipstick your eyes had lingered for a moment too long on in the mall. the boy that happily complied when you asked him to taste your cooking.
where did you go? the considerate girl that would put sticky notes and origami animals in his pockets so he would find them at work and be reminded of you. the girl that left a warm bowl of soup on the table for him to find when he came home late from work. the girl who drew cute doodles on his hands when they were drawing together.
“i… i don’t know, jeongin.” your voice was terribly tired, and you saw the same anguish and pain that you felt in his eyes. “i’m sorry.”
he opened his mouth. you found yourself wishing he would yell at you. you wished that he was angry, annoyed even. you wished for anything but this. this dull, bitter pain of falling out of love.
“you haven’t smiled in a long time.” you’re eyes flew up at his words, watching him cautiously. the truth was, you had. just not around him.
“i’m sorry.” you said again, meaning it. you were sorry. a part of you still loved him. or at least, the person he used to be.
“don’t apologize.” he said, his voice soft. “we- we were both fools. we were young. we… we thought what we had was love.”
you didn’t say a word, the air heavy with silence.
“i think we both know that we’re not meant for each other.” jeongin whispered.
your heart hurt. you squeezed your eyes shut, frustrated and confused by your warring emotions. he was right. you didn’t love him. he didn’t love you. but it still hurt.
“you’re right.” you said, refusing to meet his eye. you’re wrong, wrong, wrong. i still love you. please come back.
“i want you to be happy.” jeongin said gently, reaching out his hand and laying it on your shoulder. something he hadn’t done for years. then don’t leave me. i’m happy when i’m with you. please don’t take my happiness away.
“so,” jeongin broke the silence, his voice trembling. “i guess this is goodbye.” don’t leave me. i need you. we can go back, we have to try. what about everything we had together? we can’t lose all of it. i love you, i love you, i love you.
you raised your head and met his eyes with a watery smile. “goodbye, jeongin.”

Ok so here’s a mcyt G/t idea! a character (maybe Wilbur) either on purpose or unconsciously putting their tiny friend in their inventory (game mechanics wooo!) …small drabble mayhaps 👉👈
I love this so much!!!! :D
Thank you for this prompt, it was really fun to write!
_____
Hide 'n Sleep
_____
Wilbur tiptoed around the house, trying and failing to keep the smirk off his face. He'd woken up to hear his family and friends chattering in another room. He tended to sleep longer in the winter, although he didn't hibernate like some other giants did. When he heard Tommy complaining about the cold, he had a devious idea.
He snuck towards the living room, making as little noise as someone his size could. When he peeked around the corner, glancing into the room that was raised to about his chest level, he put a finger to his lips. Luckily only Phil and Niki were turned in his direction, and though their lips quirked in amusement, they remained silent.
He saw Techno's ear twitch and thought his brother might know he was there. But that was fine; his target was a different little brother.
Tommy was in the middle of a story. He hadn't caught the beginning, but it was something about Tubbo and a ridiculous number of flowers. Mid-laugh, Wilbur struck. He darted out his hands, scooping his little brother off his feet, and the laugh changed to a scream.
Tubbo and Ranboo both jumped, just now realizing he was there, but the others laughed.
"Hi, Toms," Wilbur said, amusement lacing his voice.
"Wil, don't you dare," Tommy started, but Wilbur was already opening his inventory. He dropped his little brother inside, giggling at Tommy's protests.
"You dickhead, you put me in a cold one!" Tommy whined. Wilbur felt him crawling over the walls to one of the slots that was stocked with blankets. He turned his focus to the rest of his family and his friends. There was a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Who's next?" he purred. He noticed Niki had already slipped away; she'd probably gone to hide somewhere as he was putting Tommy away. Phil laughed once, then jumped off the platform the living room was on, spreading his wings and soaring away. He'd be a pain in the ass to catch.
Wilbur's gaze slipped to the two teenagers. Tubbo let out a noise that was a half scream half laugh, launching himself onto Ranboo.
"Go, go, go!" He shrieked, clinging onto the taller teen. The ender hybrid was giggling, but managed to teleport them both away. Wilbur snorted and his gaze fell on the last person in the room. Techno looked back at him with an unimpressed expression.
"Technoblade~" Wilbur sang teasingly. "Are you gonna be the second person caught?"
"I've been betrayed," Techno deadpanned, making no move to run. "I'll accept my terrible fate."
"Come on," Wilbur whined. "You're not gonna play along?"
"Don't judge me, I'm cold," Techno said. Wilbur huffed and picked up his other brother.
"You know, running warms you up," Wilbur pointed out. Techno shrugs.
"So do brothers with magical pocket dimensions," Techno said. Wilbur rolled his eyes and dropped Techno into the same slot as Tommy had claimed. He smiled at their light bickering as he started his search for the rest of the tinies.
If Niki didn't want to be found, he wouldn't find her. She would probably be impossible to catch until she was one of the last left, so Wilbur didn't bother trying to look for her. Normally he'd go after Tubbo first, but if he was teaming up with Ranboo, Wilbur would likely have to wait until the ender hybrid tired out and couldn't teleport. That left Phil.
If Phil was flying around, he was just as hard to catch as Ranboo's teleportation. But Wilbur had a feeling he'd hidden this time. While Phil was a decent hider, he would often laugh and give himself away. Wilbur walked slowly around the house, keeping his eyes and ears peeled for any clues.
He heard a small wheeze of laughter, and his head turned to one of the cabinets sized for him. He grinned and opened the door, finding Phil crouched. To his surprise, his dad instantly launched upwards. He'd been waiting!
Wilbur automatically reached out to grab Phil. He didn't expect to actually catch him, but Phil was apparently going easy on him. He relaxed in Wilbur's grip giving a quick "hi, mate," before Wil slipped him into his inventory.
He began circling the house, keeping his eyes out for movement. Of course Ranboo and Tubbo could be hiding, but he doubted they would if they were teleporting around. It was much more fun to do one or the other.
He passed by an open area, only half paying attention, when he heard a small vroop. He snapped to attention, looking for the source of the sound. There were a few purple particles floating on the desk to his left. He must have just walked by them.
He started scanning the area, knowing Ranboo could only go so far. There was another, very faint noise, and he pretended not to hear. His friends always forgot how good his hearing was. He made his way closer, careful not to even look at the place he'd heard the ender hybrid. Then, when he was in arms reach, he lunged.
His hands closed around Ranboo, who yelped. He teleported away instinctually, coming back a moment later since that counted as a Wilbur win.
"What? Where's Tubbo?" Wilbur asked, holding the lone teen in his cupped hands. Ranboo shrugged, but there was mischief in his eyes. Wilbur was about to put him in his inventory, when he heard a small yell, and something hit his head. He froze, shocked, as he felt Tubbo crawling around on his head.
"Run, Boo! This is a rescue mission!" Tubbo cried, and suddenly Ranboo was gone again, leaving little purple particles in Wilbur's hands. The giant reached up and plucked Tubbo out of his hair.
"You little shits!" He said fondly as Tubbo cackled. The goat hybrid flipped him off as he was dropped into an empty inventory slot. Wilbur felt him crawling around, probably looking for Tommy's slot.
He focused on catching Ranboo, who was still in view, but out of reach. He narrowed his eyes; the teen looked way too smug. Wilbur walked forward, and just as he thought, the second he got in arms reach Ranboo teleported just out of reach.
Ranboo led him on a chase through the whole house, never teleporting completely out of sight. Wilbur got very close to catching him before he teleported a couple of times, but it wasn't until Ranboo sat down on the bookshelf he'd teleported to, yawning, that Wilbur caught him.
Wilbur gently scooped him up, and Ranboo flopped over in his hands.
"Did you tire yourself out?" Wilbur asked with a grin. Ranboo nodded sleepily, and the giant snorted. He'd lasted longer than he normally did; that had been a couple dozen teleports. He slipped Ranboo into one of the blanket padded slots, and the ended hybrid instantly fell asleep.
That just left Niki. Right on time, he heard the tiny thunk of something being knocked over. Wilbur would never find Niki if not for her little hints. Like the rest of his friends and family, she went easy on him, always intending to let him catch her in the end.
He walked to the source of the noise, calling his friend's name in a sing-song voice. Niki giggled, but unlike with Phil, Wilbur couldn't pinpoint her location from the sound.
He started opening cabinets and drawers, looking behind items to see if he could spot her. Finally, a small motion drew him to a specific drawer and he opened it. He frowned as he looked inside, still not seeing Niki. Had it been a diversion?
"You don't see me, Wilbur?" His friend teased, and he jumped, suddenly seeing where Niki had been. She'd slipped behind a tape dispenser, and Wilbur had somehow completely missed seeing her.
"I do now," he laughed, holding out a hand. She nimbly hopped on, and he slipped her into his inventory.
Wilbur couldn't help but purr happily at the feeling of all of the people he cared about safely tucked away into his inventory slots. Nothing could hurt them there; he loved protecting his family. Niki, Tubbo and Ranboo weren't technically related to him, but they were as good as family to him.
The cold caught up to Wilbur, and he yawned.
Niki and Phil were in one slot, idly chatting. Tommy and Tubbo had curled up together, and were cuddled against Techno, who was probably pretending he hated it. Ranboo was fast asleep in his own slot, nestled in blankets.
And Wilbur slipped back into bed, eyes drooping. Content from the feeling of the people he loved so close, he drifted back to sleep.

Better Off - Frederik Andersen
Summary: After another fight the couple grows distant. Frederik ends up regretting his words once he realizes there are things only Y/n can do for him.
Words: 2229
“…and the only thing they hear is each other, though no one is saying a word.” - Stig Dagerman
Even the happiest marriages, the most comfortable relationships, and most loyal friendships have their bad days. Even the couples who seem to be madly in love, always happy, and genuinely satisfied in their relationships could fight like the biggest enemies. Both Y/n and Frederik knew that things couldn’t always be good, they had their ups and downs, arguments, and they both said things they later regretted but they never expected to get into a situation they were now in.
It started about a month ago when the new season started. Frederik was thrilled for the new season, relieved they could return to somewhat normal life and Y/n thought she was excited as well but quickly learned it wasn’t the case. Over the seven years of their relationship, two years as a married couple she got used to the lifestyle and the chaos of living with an NHL's goalie. To a certain degree, she even enjoyed the days he was away, and she had time only for herself. But things changed drastically during the lockdown. Y/n started to enjoy having him home all the time and she caught herself wishing for a more traditional life with regular 9:5 jobs. When the new season started she noticed how lonely she felt when he was away and how she missed him more than she used to and it saddened her when on his free days he chose gym or his teammates over her.
Frederik was oblivious to his wife’s feelings in the beginning. After seven years, he didn’t think it was necessary to reassure himself she was okay with him being busy because he knew she was understanding and supportive of him and his career. And after all, she never complained about it anyway. He knew she liked her alone time and being apart worked for them because it made their relationship stronger and they never fell into a stereotype like so many of the couples they knew. He was in an excellent mood, in even better form and because he liked to work on himself he wanted to make up for the time he couldn’t practice so he spent an extra time working out and at the ice rink. Frederik and not only him but also his teammates were so happy to be back that they were busy with hockey and hanging out and Frederik didn’t even notice he made no time for Y/n. The third time he stood her up on a date she let him know how she felt and ever since that day it was all going downhill. At first, he tried to be with her but as if it wasn’t meant to be something always came up which only made Y/n feel worse and it made Frederik more and more frustrated. Eventually, they didn’t even try to spend time together and they drowned in their emotions.
“All you do is whine! Can you even imagine how annoying it is to listen to your never-ending whining and complaining?” He yelled at her out of frustration.
“Oh my god, I don’t care! If you were home a little more often then maybe I wouldn’t have to complain about it.” She yelled right back at him.
“You’re getting repetitive. I don’t remember hearing anything else from you other than this. I’m not at home because then I have to listen to you and I’d rather talk to the wall than to you! I’m better off without you anyway.”
Once he was done talking Y/n looked at him in pure shock and pain, she was speechless and surprised by his words and she didn’t have the energy to fight back. Everything that was said was enough, he made it clear and she wasn’t going to embarrass herself even more. Maybe she was irrational at times but all she wanted was a little more understanding from her husband but now she knew she wasn’t gonna get it.
“Fine,” she said quietly and left him alone in the living room while she locked herself in the bedroom so she could cry and think about it at peace.
Frederik regretted his words the moment he said them out loud. What he said wasn’t true or at least not fully because although he was tired of the fighting, he never dared to wish to get rid of her, to be without her. But he wanted to hurt her because the remorse he felt after every word she told him, after she expressed the pain, he caused made him act like a completely different person. But soon the remorse was replaced by anger. It wasn’t his fault she didn’t communicate with him better, it wasn’t his fault she didn’t tell him in the beginning how she felt, and it wasn’t him who argued about everything. Sure, he knew he played his part in this but there was no way he would take all the blame.
The days passed slowly and each day it got harder to handle the situation. Even the neighbors sensed the tension between the married couple, his teammates knew something was wrong because he was acting strangely but he never told them why, Y/n’s closest friend knew what was going on but Y/n didn’t want to talk about it because it only made things worse. The couple avoided each other at all costs, they slept in different rooms, ate at different times, and didn’t speak a single word. It was like living with a stranger, suddenly they stopped sharing their lives with each other and they lived individually as if they weren’t married.
Y/n continued living her life as if nothing was going on. She woke up every morning at 5:30, made herself breakfast and she was at work by 7. After work, she either hang out with her friends, did some grocery shopping, or went straight home where she hid in the bedroom. On the days Frederik wasn’t home she cooked a dinner and ate it before he returned, on the days he was home she waited until he left for the game and cooked then and every night she left a plate for him in the kitchen just in case he didn’t eat that day. Although she tried to act like she didn’t care about him since her ego was hurt by his words, she still wanted to make sure he was okay. And a part of her hoped he would soon realize how wrong he was. Mostly she hoped he would start missing her and that it would inspire him to make the first step to work things out. Every game night Y/n watched the game and rooted and cheered for her husband and felt proud of him no matter how angry she was. But the more time she spent alone the more she thought, and it only made her realize Frederik wasn’t the one to be blamed. Y/n knew he was doing his best, but she never appreciated it. Oh god, of course, he did his best, he loved her, and he didn’t mean what he said. She knew it but her stubbornness didn’t let her go to him and apologize for her behavior. Every time she was ready to go to him something told her she still deserved more time and attention from her husband.
Every night when Frederik returned home, he felt uncomfortable. Their home felt empty and cold without her waiting for him and he felt like a stranger in his own home. It was equally theirs, everything belonged to them both but now he couldn’t help but think it was now more Y/n’s than his because she was the one who turned the apartment into a home. Every night he found washed dishes in the kitchen and he never hesitated and put everything where it belonged so she wouldn’t have to do it the next day. Every night there was a dinner waiting for him and he ate it happily because it gave him a sign, she still cared about him. Every night he saw a light in their bedroom and as he passed by it, he fought a terrible urge to go inside and go to his wife. It was unbelievably hard to sleep in the guest room when Y/n was so close and he wanted nothing more than to hug his wife and kiss her goodnight but he thought sleeping in a different room was necessary and that giving her time was the right thing to do.
And in their stubbornness, they continued living like this for a few more days.
One night Frederik returned home broken and devastated after their biggest loss of the season. The Leafs lost 1:8 to Bruins and even though everyone tried to be nice to him and reassured him it wasn’t only his fault he knew they were lying. This loss was on him. He was horrible, he couldn’t focus on the game and for the most part, he didn’t even care. He returned home and wanted nothing more than to hug Y/n and be held by her because she was the only one who could calm him down, cheer him up, and bring back his confidence. Normally she would be at the game or at least waiting for him with her arms open but that night he once again returned to an empty apartment. He saw the light from their bedroom, and he heard a tv playing and for a moment he believed she watched the game and saw how terrible he was. He left his bag in the hall and went straight to the living room where he lay down on the couch and regretted everything he’s done in the past few days. He was afraid to check his phone or turn on the tv because he knew everyone would talk about how badly he played, he trembled from anxiety and he wanted to force himself to go to her but shame didn’t let him ask her for help.
Y/n impatiently waited for Frederik to come back home. She watched the game and cried when she saw how much he struggled that evening and she knew how sad he was going to be. Her heart skipped a few beats when she heard the front door open and close behind him and she didn’t know what to do. Her pride told her not to go to him and pretend to be asleep and to let him deal with it alone since he’d rather talk to a wall. But the bigger side of her, the side of her that loved her husband endlessly wanted to go to him and make sure he was going to be okay.
Twenty minutes later when it almost drove them both crazy, they stood up at the same time ready to make the first move. Frederik found the courage to apologize and headed to the bedroom hoping she wasn’t asleep, and Y/n got out of bed and headed to the living room to ask Frederik how he felt. They met midway and without thinking, Y/n ran to him and jumped into his arms and he held her as close to his body as was possible and immediately felt much better. He slowly carried her to their bedroom where they lay on the bed in silence for a while before they found the right words to say.
“I watched the game,” she spoke softly. “Is it stupid to ask you how are you feeling?” She said with almost an unheard chuckle.
“I feel terrible,” he admitted. “And all I wanted all night was to get home to you because you’re the only one who can calm me down.”
“I’m so sorry Freddie, for everything,” Y/n whispered and came closer to him, he hugged her tightly and rested his head on her shoulder and stroked her hand which helped him to calm down even more. “I felt really lonely because I loved being with you all the time and I liked the idea of having the ordinary and boring life everyone else has. But now I know I wouldn’t trade it for anything because this is our life, this is who we are, and I love it that way.”
Frederik relaxed under Y/n’s touch, he forgot all about the game and he felt ready to face the consequences the following day. He felt more secure now when he knew she had his back and he couldn’t even remember what caused the issues between them or how he could ever tell her he was better off alone without her. “I regret what I said because it’s completely nonsense. I’m useless without you.”
“You most definitely are,” she joked to ease up the situation. “We can forget about everything and try a little more to balance our private lives with our careers. And I promise not to complain when you’re busy.”
“I’d like that,” he said smiling and kissed Y/n’s cheek. Just now he fully realized how much he missed this and how much he needed it. “You make my life easier Y/n.” He whispered into her ear.
The couple soon fell asleep in each other’s arms. It was the first time in almost two weeks they fell asleep with ease and feeling completely calm and happy.

Have more of Luo Binghe trying to rationalise buying his love interest.
Luo Binghe’s constant pacing is only interrupted by Shen-laoshi’s arrival.
From the look of it, his teacher is too occupied with taking in Luo Binghe’s penthouse to spare him much attention, which is perfect. It leaves him completely free to take in Shen-laoshi himself.
He hadn’t been wrong. Shen-laoshi is so thin he’s verging on unhealthy. The result of too much work and not enough home-cooked food, surely. Luo Binghe would be worried if he didn’t know it wouldn’t last. Shen-laoshi had always eaten every dish Luo Binghe used to bring to his tutoring sessions, the only thanks he could afford at the time, with every sign of enjoyment. Luo Binghe fully intends to rekindle that tradition.
“This is a bad idea.”
Luo Binghe is too fast; he steals Shen-laoshi’s small luggage before he can take it back. “Am I such a bad host that Shen-laoshi won’t even give me a chance to show him hospitality? He should at least let me serve him the meal I prepared for him. It would be a shame for the food to go to waste.”
He doesn’t smile when Shen-laoshi visibly hesitates. “Binghe still cooks? Doesn’t he have people for that?”
Luo Binghe would never let strangers handle his food in his own home. “I do. I’ve always enjoyed cooking, especially for others. It’ll be a pleasure to do so again.” It’s not a lie. He does enjoy cooking for others, as long as he cares about those others. The people he holds dear are just very few.
Shen-laoshi throws a longing glance at the door, but slumps in defeat. “Well, I guess it would be rude not to at least stay for dinner then.”
“And Shen-laoshi is never rude.” Luo Binghe starts for his room. “Here, I’ll put your baggage away.”
Shen-laoshi follows him in a hurry. “Binghe, wait! Where are you going?”
Could he settle Shen-laoshi somewhere less provocative than in his own bedroom? Yes, he could have. He’d thought about it. The last thing he wanted was to spook Shen-laoshi away. He does want to take his time, in his own way.
But he knows his teacher. He’d made Luo Binghe’s adolescence hell with his complete obliviousness to his student’s shamefully evident crush. If his interest is too subtle, Shen-laoshi will fool himself into thinking it’s platonic, which it never was.
Shen-laoshi freezes when he enters a room he has to recognise as Luo Binghe’s. “Binghe…”
Luo Binghe ignores him in favor of setting the luggage down beside a dresser. “This is yours. I did say you didn’t have to bring anything if you didn’t want to, so there are clothes in it and in the closet. Take whatever you want.” Would he love to see Shen-laoshi leaves his bathroom with wet hair dripping down on a shirt Luo Binghe had bought him? Why yes, he would very much enjoy that. Also, Shen-laoshi deserves better than the worn garments he was usually seen in.
But if it’s too much, too fast, he’ll settle for Shen-laoshi’s own clothes stored in his home, like they belonged there.
Shen-laoshi peeks into the closet gingerly. “…Binghe, that’s way too much.”
It is not. “It’s nothing less than Laoshi deserves.”
Shen-laoshi shakes his head. “I don’t know what story you’ve constructed about me, but Binghe must be confused about something. What I have ever done for you to think this all makes sense?”
Luo Binghe could spend hours explaining to Shen-laoshi how lonely he’d been as a child. Struggling to adjust after his mother’s death, terribly aware that what little money she left him wouldn’t last forever, the soothing presence of Shen-laoshi, the only adult willing to listen to him, had been a lifeline he’d needed more than anything. He’d promised himself he’d be the same for him, when he would be able to.
He could, but he’s afraid he’ll scare Shen-laoshi away. He’s been told before he can be a bit… intense. “Shen-laoshi will understand in time. Meanwhile, why doesn’t he follow me to the dining room? Now that you’re here, we should catch up properly. There is so much I want to share with him!” The urge to reach for him, to put a hand on his back or his arm to guide him makes itself known, but he restrains himself. Patience. He can’t spook his teacher, or he’ll run.
Shen-laoshi doesn’t fight the suggestion, meekly following along.
Dinner is nice and uncomplicated. Luo Binghe deliberately keeps conversation light, retreating to familiar grounds, his studies. After all, Shen-laoshi is the only reason Luo Binghe managed to ace the required entrance test. He should be made aware of the results of his hard work.
As he prattles on, he gets to see Shen-laoshi’s walls fall, piece by piece, as he forgets why he’s here to only focus on Luo Binghe’s words. Luo Binghe knows Shen-laoshi has always been fond of him. With insight, he can tell he was favored, maybe more than a teacher should favor one of his students. As long as Shen-laoshi can think of Luo Binghe as that student of his, he’ll happily let himself be entertained.
If he had time, he would have invited Shen-laoshi over to such dinners. He’d have taken him out to good restaurants. He’d have visited museums with him, taken him shopping, walked around the city by his side until Shen-laoshi would have accepted him, and then he would have confessed.
But that would have meant letting the object of his affection struggle through another summer of part-time jobs, tutoring gigs and calligraphy lessons that barely paid the rent. Shen-laoshi would have been stretched even thinner.
Luo Binghe couldn’t allow it.
He waves Shen-laoshi away after dinner, claiming work he has to finish before tomorrow. He, of course, would prefer to spend the rest of the evening with him, but the point of this manoeuvre is to let Shen-laoshi discover his house by himself. It’s a show of trust, demonstrating he has nothing to hide from his teacher.
It’s also a chance for him to find the room Luo Binghe always thought of as his.
He believes it will be obvious. The rest of the house has been professionally decorated, all tasteful whites with the occasional colorful accent.
Shen-laoshi’s study is all soft green and rosewood furniture, a more antiquated style Luo Binghe had always associated with his teacher. Nothing like the modern feel of the rest of the house. There are shelves, some stocked with classic literature, others empty, waiting for their proper owner to fill them as he saw fit. A fully furnished desk with the latest tech. A soft, huge couch Luo Binghe made sure he could sleep on comfortably if he wanted to. Large windows letting in the sun in the morning. A few plants Luo Binghe diligently watered so that they’d be radiant when Shen-laoshi first saw them.
A space just for him.
Luo Binghe thrills as he heard Shen-laoshi putters around the house, the muffled sounds of his steps on the hardwood floor or of doors opening and closing softly obliterating the silence he’s used to, reminding him each time that this is real, that Shen-laoshi really is here with him. It’s a good thing the work he has to do isn’t too demanding, because he could never focus in this state of elation.
He hopes his teacher likes the place, though he’d move in a heartbeat if Shen-laoshi found it lacking in any way.
After a while, the sounds stop. Luo Binghe supposes he found the study.
When, a few hours later, he closes his laptop for good, he does find Shen-laoshi sitting on the couch, engrossed in one of the books.
He smiles. The sight of Shen-laoshi making himself home here is very pleasing to his more possessive tendencies. “I see Shen-laoshi have found a way to entertain himself.”
Shen-laoshi startles. “Binghe!” He sets the book down. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude, it’s just-“
Luo Binghe cuts him off. “Shen-laoshi has done nothing wrong. All that is mine is his, and these books were always intended for him.” He opens the desk’s drawer and hands him the card. “He is welcome to purchase any book he wants to read, or anything else he lacks. He doesn’t have to restrain himself.”
The credit card is a crass reminder of their supposed arrangement, but there is no way around it. Luo Binghe wants Shen-laoshi to get all he desires, and money facilitates that process.
Shen-laoshi doesn’t take the card. “Binghe, I can’t accept this. This isn’t right.”
Luo Binghe is getting quite tired of Shen-laoshi’s refusals, no matter how expected they were. “Please do. It would make me so happy to know Shen-laoshi is provided for, for once. But it is getting late.” Luo Binghe settles the card back into the drawer, ostentatiously, so that Shen-laoshi knows where to find it tomorrow, when he’s alone in Luo Binghe’s apartment and wondering how to spend his time. Once he’s done, he offers Shen-laoshi his hand, keeping his face blank and his tone simply pleasant. “Will Shen-laoshi turn in for the night?”
He sees Shen-laoshi tense as it becomes impossible for him not to worry about what will be coming next.
The silence stretches on.
Luo Binghe breaks first. “Shen-laoshi doesn’t have to worry. He needs to recuperate. I wouldn’t keep him from his sleep.”
The hand finally settling in his still is a bit unsure.
Luo Binghe decides to ignore it, preferring to focus on its warmth and the fluttering feeling of holding Shen-laoshi’s hand.
“Binghe shouldn’t call me Laoshi in this context. It’s… He shouldn’t.”
“What should I call him, then?”
“My name, simply. Shen Yuan.”
Shen Yuan.
While to Luo Binghe, Shen Yuan will always be his teacher first, he can definitely learn to love the sound of his name. “Shen Yuan it is.”
Luo Binghe lets Shen Yuan uses the main bathroom while he uses a guest’s, and tries to steel himself for what will be coming next.
He doesn’t manage it.
Even if the pajamas Shen-laoshi are wearing offer him full coverage to the point of prudishness, it’s still Shen-laoshi standing by his bed, waiting for him to signal how to proceed.
Luo Binghe bites his tongue until he tastes blood as he himself settles down, and pats the space besides his.
There is no relaxation in either of them, though, Luo Binghe expects, for very different reasons. From this close, he can smell his soap on Shen Yuan’s skin. He can hear the faster-than-average rhythm of his breath. He can feel the warmth of his body.
But he can’t reach for it.
He keeps his antsy hands to himself, instead very deliberately turning off the lights. “Good night, Laoshi. Please rest well.” He needs it.
He doesn’t expect an answer, but the soft “Good night, Binghe,” he gets in response ensures that when he finally falls asleep, he does so with a smile on his face.

So i think tumblr sent my ask before I could even tell you what’s on my mind. Lol. Oh well. Let me start over, heyyyy!! So big fan of your blog here. ☺️💙 Never fail to brighten my day. May I ask, how do you think it would be like if MC isn’t a producer but have a different job? (Like say, a medic or whatnot) How will she be able to interact with the guys (and possibly fall in love with them?)
Thanks for the request! Sorry this took so long to answer.
To make things interesting, I gave MC the boys’ occupations (minus Shaw, because he doesn’t have a clear job(?) yet). There may be slight spoilers regarding certain backstories. Also, MC will already be in a relationship with the guys.
Enjoy!
MLQC Headcanon - More Jobs than Barbie
Victor (MC as *police officer*)
Victor wasn’t always supportive of you joining the police force
He was concerned that you would be overworked by the other seniors in the station (but who would dare to, honestly)
But when he saw how passionate you were, he quickly changed his mind
He technically owns a part of the station? (as a part of a partnership with LFG)
Despite his extremely busy schedule as THE CEO of THE LFG, he always finds time to pack you lunch
He won’t hear any excuses as to why you had to settle for 3 choux buns today
“Victor, we were trailing a suspect!”
“If you faint on the job, it’s a bother to your co-workers” (he says while feeding you his homemade fried rice)
He was irritated one day when he noticed you came home without your lunch box
“Oh, Tony (bringing back the LEGEND) forgot his, so I shared mine with him”
“........did you now....”
You know that face too well
“Don’t worry! I made him promise to return it tomorrow” (Dummy, that’s not the issue here)
The next day, Victor didn’t leave a lunch box on the table like usual
Maybe it’s because Tony still has my lunch box?
You went to your shift without giving it much thought
Lunchtime came around, but you still didn’t have anything to eat
“MC? Here’s your lunch box” (you turned around to see Tony standing there with your box)
“Ah, thanks!”
“Uh...if you don’t have any plans, do you wanna go eat somewhere?”
“Yeah sure, I didn’t bring food anyways!”
“Who says you don’t have food?”
A chilling voice suddenly appears behind you
“Vi-Victor?” (Tony’s jaw drops in fear)
He’s holding a lunch box you’ve never seen before, stacked with 3 layers of cooking by Souvenir’s finest
He tosses your old lunch box back to Tony
“She won’t be needing this anymore”
Kiro (MC as *neurologist*)
Your work as a scientist was demanding, without a doubt
But it’s not as tiring as answering Kiro’s endless array of questions
“MC! What does this one do?” (Kiro, stop pressing those)
“Will this turn my hair purple?” (Kiro, that’s anesthesia)
“Look at this! My knee is going all bouncy!” (Kiro, put that reflex hammer down)
It’s like setting a kindergartener loose in a zoo
It’s not like you hated him being there when you worked
If anything, it was really adorable (especially when he looked at you so intently with those bright, shining sapphire eyes)
He has his own corner in your lab (he spent 5 days decorating it)
He bought a mini-fridge to hold the sweets, and a pantry for the chips
He doesn’t visit ALL the time, though (and it actually feels lonely without him)
When he has work, he would call beforehand (he says you can eat the cake on the top shelf of the fridge)
Kiro likes taking naps on the couch by your desk
It was originally meant for YOU to use (something about letting your brain rest along with your body)
But he’s the one sleeping in it (Savin has to drag him out when he has a schedule)
Because he’s not authorized to handle the materials in your lab, he just stands close to you while you work
But he INSISTS on wearing a lab coat like yours
“We’re matching, MC! Do I look like a scientist?”
One day he brought stole glasses from his stylist because he wanted to look smarter (gosh he’s precious)
He spends so much time at the center that all the other scientists keep expecting him
Some of them were fans of Kiro, and figured out the way to his heart was by feeding him food
Which was a lie, since the only person he opened his heart to was you
He just doesn’t turn down food
Lucien (MC as *CEO*)
He was always proud to call you his fiancée, especially when you’re running such a huge company as its CEO
Lucien’s job as a neurologist and researcher meant he wasn’t able to be with you for long (and same with you)
You became so lonely that you decided to invest in Lucien’s lab
“MC, are you sure you don’t want to discuss this with Anna and the others?”
“Yeah! I’m just happy I get to see you more often now!”
Lucien laughs softly (What am I going to do with this sunshine)
But that doesn’t mean you’re terrible at your job
If anything, your ability to run one of the biggest companies in Loveland is immeasurable
Before your father passed, he made sure to teach you everything there is to know about entrepreneurship
Thanks to him, and with the help of your trusted employees, you’ve never ran into major problems
You’re happy with your job, and satisfied that you can continue what your father did when he was alive
Plus, you get more time with Lucien
He sometimes visits your office to give reports on how the various projects the lab is working on (it gives you a boost every time)
“Wait, hold that pose!” *click
When he’s reporting, he always changes out of his usual lab coat and into a suit (because he is meeting his “Boss”, after all)
And you take OOTD pictures to save in your hard drive
He never says anything about it
In fact, he enjoys it as much as you do
He loves it even more when your face turns red after Minor walks in on your photoshoot session
“HA HA! Boss, have you been doing this every time Mr. Xu comes?”
You say nothing, and just bury your face on your desk
Lucien doesn’t say anything either, but the smile on his face marginally grows more sinister
Minor senses something is wrong and nearly drops the files he was holding
“We-well, have fun Boss!” (he dashes out the door in an instant)
You look up and see Lucien tidying your messy hair
“What’s wrong with Minor?” (didn’t he bring the files I need to sign?)
“(he tucks your hair behind your ears and smiles) Hmm.... who knows?”
Gavin (MC as *idol*)
He had heard from his sources (Minor) that you graduated Loveland University with a major in the performing arts
He knew you would pursue this field from the beginning
After all, he would listen in on your rehearsals for the plays in high school (he never told you, of course)
He was afraid that you might be uncomfortable if he was there, with all the rumors going around about him
That’s why he never attended any of your plays (he paid no mind to Minor’s constant begging)
Instead he liked sitting on the theater roof, happily drowning himself in your voice (the same voice that saved him that day, when he discovered his Evol)
The day you reunited with him was when you were filming a show outside
He had to do a double-take when he saw you surrounded by cameras and fans (Isn’t that guy getting a little TOO close??)
You actually spotted him too, but pretended not to (you were still caught over the scary rumors about the upperclassman)
But that was nearly a year ago
Now the two of you are in a relationship (something neither of you thought was possible)
He knew you weren’t allowed to date publicly because of scandals, but he still wanted to show off his beautiful “Ginkgo” (which is what your name is saved as on his phone)
The only other person who knows is Minor
He doesn’t go around blabbing about it, but he does tease Gavin any chance he gets
“Hey, Gavin. Guess what I have for you (he hands a limited issue of your exclusive magazine)? There was only 1 copy left, and I got it for you. Now you can go brag to your cop friends”
Gavin promptly yanks the magazine away from Minor, who has an unbelievable grin on his face
“Shut it”
He doesn’t give back the magazine, though
This was such an interesting prompt to write! Thanks to @aliaisreal for the amazing request!

Going Angst Week Day 2: Obsession
Ao3: Here
WC: 1689
Nav: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
prev | next
The scenery behind the door was very... unique Quizz would say.
“You know, if I wanted space I would just remove a wall. A room suspended in the endless void is a little... extra, don’t you think?” They asked nobody.
There was a singular platform suspended in an endless inky void of space with a singular pathway to the door. Nothing sat upon it but a desk- complete with a fancy looking double-monitor setup and roomy drawers underneath. It looked sleek, modern, tempting.
Quizz didn’t know why the single point of focus in an otherwise liminal room was so enticing, but hey! The feeling in their chest hadn’t led them astray. Yet.
With a shrug they began walking, their saunter turning into a slow but steady glide as they negated gravity. “Well, only one way to go. Down it is!!”
The monitors lit up with a strange logo- a devilishly smiling face with red shades and blue flames for hair. Okay... that looked really cool, but... why was it lighting up? They tapped the space key and a password entry blinked before them.
“I can’t even remember my name, what makes this place think I’ll remember a fuckin’ password right off the bat? Sheesh!!” He pulled the chair out and took a seat, realizing it didn’t need adjusting and was hella comfortable.
Alright... he could work with this.
With a too-wide grin he began trying to unlock the machine.
-----
It turned out he could not, in fact, work with this.
Quizz had his cheek pressed against the desk, growling lowly at the password box as it flashed tauntingly at him. It really didn’t help that the damn thing cackled at him with every wrong entry.
“Stupid computer. Stupid amnesia. Stupid Quizz... stupid stupid stupid.” He pried his face off the desk in despair and slammed his forehead on it a few times. “The fact that nothing seems to hurt me makes me think I’m just having an awful dream.” Another slam. “But with my terrible luck I’m in purgatory or something.” Slam.
“Why is this so damn hard... Always gettin’ myself into so much trouble- way more than it’s worth!! Gods mom was ri-...” Quizz paused and thought. “.... she was... who? Who was... right?? ACK!” They grabbed their forehead, talons accidentally scratching the fuck out of their face in the rush. “I-I... why do things keep. Leaving me?”
They took a moment to calm, thinking about it- thinking about the trouble they were in; lost and alone with apparently only a locked computer for company. “Please, I... don’t want to forget her. I just want to... know...” The pain in their head subsided as the thing in their chest thrummed violently. “Who was she to me again??” They had to remember, feelings of both nostalgia and love rushed over them, followed by a single, near debilitating shudder of regret and the gut-wrenching feeling of failure.
‘I’m sorry I wasn’t enough... I couldn’t be there for you all...’
Quizz gasped loudly. “I... someone said I get into trouble... it was familiar, but not angry. Exasperated... and then I... I left them. How did I leave?” Their heard vibrated strangely again. “I don’t think I left them willingly. But who were... they?”
A happy, yet tired family sits at a table. A single chair remains empty yet another day; a small plate covered in frogs sits on a placemat in front of it. There’s three other people, smiling yet tired. Pizza steams fresh in the center with two figures talking excitedly about something else. They’re all smaller besides one more in focus than the others. They look... older? The image clears a bit more and reveals a stout woman with slightly greying hair and blank eyes...
Something clicks into place.
"Mom!!! I remember mom- I think... but who are the others? Kids, at least maybe? Ah, what was her name- I can... Her favorite color was peach!!” They readied themself for pain again, but none came. “ Ah, so the initial memory sucks when I remember it!! Noted! Thanks brain, I hate it!!!” They tapped their forehead and stood in front of the desk, arms crossed. “Now, brain, my dear friend- can please you do me a favor and, oh... I don’t know... fuckin’ LET ME UNLOCK THIS FUCKIN’ DESKTOP?? Please???”
The monitor snickered softly at them again after a moment of absolute silence.
“ALRIGHT SMARTASS!!!” Quizz slammed their fist hard on the keyboard, hearing something click softly underneath. “There’s literally no need to get sassy with me! So what do you say, help me out here, bud? Please???” They pleaded with the computer, but got a loud raspberry in return. “Cool. Just fuckin’ great.” Another smack to the keyboard made something inside the desk click again, the sound of some sort of mechanism unwinding. After a moment, a drawer (one he was SURE was locked) glided open gracefully.
Quizz perked up, ignoring the fact they were about ten seconds from slashing the monitor in half with their new claws. “Alright! Now that’s the shit I’m talkin’ about! That’s the shit I’m fuckin’ about!!!” They turned and saluted the blank space surrounding him. “Thanks, weird void room. Thanks weird asshole computer!! I totally appreciate the help you gave me!!”
‘Ah, sarcasm. Never fails to lighten the mood.’
With nimble fingers the amnesiac started shuffling through the drawer. It had several very... interesting items inside- weirdly shaped pens, a neat collapsable cane he was gonna inspect later, but the best of all was a pair of dope-ass red shades that they absolutely donned immediately- a feeling of pride and rightness filling them as they put them on.
They made it to the bottom of the drawer when their chest thrummed violently. A lone binder, locked tightly, sat at the bottom. They grasped their chest with one hand and the book with the other, admiring the intricate silver swirls and black glittering stars covering it. Quizz placed it on the desk, noticing a small, strangely glittering key hanging off of a chain attached to it.
The room seemed to whisper directly into his mind.
‘Open it. Inside. Open... learn about... read... learn...’
With a shaking hand, they unlocked it and read.
They read.
And read.
Memories coming to the forefront and fading away just as soon. Their eyes scanned words that would pixelate and blur as soon as they glanced at them. Names and places, numbers and facts- blurred away from his sight.
‘No. This is not how it should be.’
A growl bubbled up in his chest as he kept reading. Names were all universally destroyed, photos for the most part blurred out. But categories- favorite places and things... birthdays and personality types- all of those were categorized neatly and nicely.
Some pages had just a few, and those names were less obscured- some even with profile pictures fully visible.
Those pages made his chest rumble happily. He couldn’t understand why.
But there were three specific pages that stood out. Just looking at them... it made his blood itch, his chest scream in longing.
He needed to finish them. If he didn’t... he didn’t know what he would do.
He poured over the pages over and over and over again.
They all had information filled for the most part, more categories were finished than any other page had been, but things like the person’s name and appearance, as well as the photos were unhelpfully blurred out.
They snarled at the thought of not knowing what it meant.
“Can’t make anything easy for me, huh?”
One was a page that was rather childish. Observations were written but he could barely understand them- the letters scrambling before his eyes. But he noticed something- it seemed the entry was cut short; the only clear thing besides crayon drawings of frogs said ‘entry cut short, just like their time with us.’
The second page was filled with pressed flowers- all different types of lilies and snapdragons. Everything was written with a glittery peach gel pen. They ran a claw over the script and felt a tear fall from their eyes. The writing made them feel something deep and painful- the same pain they’d felt a short while ago.
Their eyes scanned the page, noticing a single clear data entry.
Favorite Color: Peach
“This was... is this my mom?”
Upon saying that, the page become more readable- some smaller things filling out and the photo less ‘thumb over the camera’ and more ‘they moved while I took this’.
If this was information on people they knew then...
Quizz yelled as their chest spiked in pain, something overcoming their willpower.
If this book was filled with things about the people they loved, then they will... they are going to... uncover all of it- collect all the information and find them. They’ll collect everyone interesting they meet- ask them... get answers, know things, know all things to... to -
Protect.
Love.
Learn.
Know. Know them.
After feeling cold pins and needles consume their form, Quizz flipped back to the third and last page that had gathered their interest.
The very first page in the book.
Their claw ran over the scrawling handwriting- admiring how the writer crossed their sevens with lines, how they looped their letters and underlined things for emphasis. They felt nostalgic and hollow.
This page had every single category filled, but the descriptions were blackened out; like they’d spilled ink all over the page. They looked it up and down but couldn’t find a single clue about who page one would have been.
With a sigh they grinned and noticed something peculiar on the inner cover- right next to the bio. There was a single note, a single clue.
Password: Page 5′s best friend.
Now that... that tickled Quizz’s fancy. Page 5... that would be the childish froggie page? Yes it was.
Quizz felt the buzzing in their chest become steady, violent yet subdued. It was telling them this was the right direction- that attaining that information would fill a hunger they didn’t know they had.
Interesting, this was going to just be... delightful.

♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡
It hit us unexpectedly.
The drastic change in how we did everything was overwhelming, and many of us didn’t really think it would be such a big deal at first. It was a silly virus that would be cured within weeks, nothing to really worry about. So everyone continued about their normal lives, happy that the virus wasn’t in their country, happy it wasn’t them. It simply wasn’t our problem right?
Wrong.
Everything flipped and turned upside down when the unknown and mysterious virus finally hit Japan. While earlier we thought it wasn’t our problem, what are we supposed to say now that it's at our front door? Affecting our neighbors, our friends, our students and our heroes who protect society. No one really cares until it's your problem.
The first death the virus caused made everyone realize just how serious this was. This wasn’t some joke, people's lives were actually in danger and things needed to be done to protect the citizens from a virus that was on a killing spree.
That meant no more social gatherings.
Someone might ask- Well that doesn’t sound too bad? What's wrong with not having to see people?
It was a problem to you, and many others.
Laying in bed day after day, letting the loneliness set in and the worry skyrocket about the current situation. You had taken the simple act of seeing someone in person for granted, and realized just how texting and calling wasn’t the same. You missed going out with friends and doing random things that made you happy. You missed going to the ice cream parlor down the street that would sell you ice cream and soothe all your sad and depressive feelings. What you missed the most was your boyfriend.
The sudden thought of him already made your eyes water and your heart clench. ‘’I miss you Keigo’’ You whispered to the darkness, pulling your warm blanket closer to your body for comfort. The bed that was made for two, suddenly felt way bigger than it needed to be without your boyfriend. ‘’I’m just being selfish, he’s keeping us protected’’
Keigo or Hawks as most society knows him, had been quite busy since the virus broke out in Japan. You’d think villains themselves would stay inside once they heard a virus could kill them, but it was quite the opposite. With no one outside to stop them from their wrongdoings, it was easier for them to commit their daily crimes. So that meant heroes never really got the break they thought they’d get.
While they risked their life everyday to protect citizens, the risk factor was now doubled because of the virus. Heros would continue to go out and protect homes, stores and people who needed it, not letting the virus keep them from doing their job.
It made you happy to know that your boyfriend was doing his job, and probably saving many lives with his patrols. It just hurt that you couldn’t really see him anymore. He was gone before you woke up, and back away after you’ve closed your eyes. You had tried multiple times to keep yourself awake, but never seemed to make it.
You missed his laughter, the way he grinned after getting on your nerves and the stupidly cute smile that would make your heart flutter. You missed his bear hugs and his butterfly kisses all over your face. You missed everything about him down to his annoying antics and crazy eating habits. You had taken it all for granted and now all you had was yourself and the little notes he would leave behind.
‘’I love you Keigo, goodnight baby, stay safe’’ You whispered to the darkness, hoping your words would get to him. Closing your eyes, you snuggled into your body pillow and fell asleep within minutes.
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~
A couple hours later, the front door of your home creaked open. A blonde male entered quietly, or what he thought was quiet. His posture was slouched, and the eye bags under his eyes gave a clear giveaway that he was tired. ‘’Shit’’ He glanced at the clock and saw it was around 3 am, meaning you had fallen asleep some time ago. His red wings felt heavier than usual, and the thought of sleeping by the front door so he wouldn’t have to climb the stars to the bedroom, was seeming like a good idea.
Keigo shook that idea out of his head, if anything, he wanted to see you, even if you were already sleeping. He felt filthy, so maybe a shower before he got into bed. Even though he was sprayed with every cleaning spray known to man before coming back to your shared apartment, he still took extra precaution when coming home to you. Constantly checking his temperature, and wearing a mask and goggles to keep you protected. You were his little dole, he’d never get over the regret if he passed a virus on to you.
Slugging upstairs, he yelled in fright when he felt himself falling forward towards the steps. At first he didn’t even fight it, trying to save himself from marks on his face from steps seemed like too much work. However, his wings spread out as much as they could, leaving the males face hovering over the steps he was just about to kiss. ‘’Oh’’ He mumbled, the simple thought to use his wings had flown out of his head. God he was so tired. Standing back up, he carefully treaded up the stairs, trying to be more quiet now that he was getting closer to the bedroom.
Opening the bedroom door as quiet as he could, his yellow eyes found your body first. Walking closer he stared down at your sleeping form, a small smile appearing under his mask. ‘’Hi baby, I’m home’’ he said softly, before he frowned. He noticed the tear lines on your face and his heart suddenly felt heavy. Just the thought of you crying without him here to comfort you was truly heartbreaking. You weren’t the only one who missed their partner, since he was surely feeling the same loneliness as you.
He teared his eyes off of you finally, walking away and into your shared bathroom. Shutting the door behind him, he turned on the light and let gaze find the mirror. His rough appearance made him cringe. His golden blonde hair was matted down poking in every direction, eye bags were prominent and his gorgeous smile was covered by this stupid white mask. Reaching up, he ripped the mask off his face, cringing at the red lines he saw of having to wear it so often. All of this sucked. Yet if it meant keeping you and others safe, he would wear this mask for eternity.
About an hour later, he’d showered and dressed in the clothes he’d be sleeping in. All today's grime and cleaning products washed off his skin leaving it spotless. As he stood in front of the mirror, brushing his teeth half heartedly, the thought of you crying earlier was still fresh in his mind. While you wouldn’t tell him you were lonely and wanted more, he knew better. He had been with you for some years now, he knew you inside out. He knew that whilst he had it hard, you were equally suffering.
Within the first two weeks of Covid 19, your student Bakugou Katsuki had caught the virus and was hospitalized due to it. You had cried for 4 days straight, and nothing he said made you feel any better. Being a U.A teacher meant you had worried even more for your students, who were still kids and had places to go.
Keigo felt terrible that he was putting extra stress on you since he still had to do his duties, and that everything wasn’t easy on you just because you were home and hopefully safe.
‘’I’ll make it up, we’ll both have some fun soon’’ He said to himself in the mirror, before spitting out the nasty toothpaste and rinsing his mouth out with some cold water. Finally finishing up, he turned the bathroom light off and trudged towards the bed. Climbing in lazily, he wiggled under the comforter you were hogging to yourself. As his head hit the pillow, he had to keep himself from falling asleep on the spot. The soft fluffy pillow almost sent him to heaven. Scooting closer to you, he wrapped his arms around your body and pulled you closer to him, his head resting in the crook of your neck. Your hair didn’t even bother him, if anything the smell of your shampoo calmed him.
‘’I love you y/n, goodnight dove, I’m home and safe’’ Keigo whispered to you before finally letting his eyes slip close, knowing in a few hours he’d be gone again. Yet getting to hold you before he went to sleep always made his mornings and days easier.
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~
Sometime before the sun came up, you had felt the bed move, and the warm arms that were keeping you secure left again. You wouldn’t lie, the disappointment you felt hit harder than anything. And when you heard the bedroom lightly shut behind Keigo, you simply wrapped your arms around yourself, hoping to mimic the arms of your lover. Yet his arms and presence were unique, so of course you couldn’t replace his embrace.
You don’t remember falling back asleep, so it confused you when you suddenly felt the bright rays of sun on your face. ‘’Oh, Good morning I guess’’ You mumbled as you sat up, trying to rub the sleepiness out of your eyes. Shielding your eyes from the sunlight with your right hand, you looked around for the one thing that always made your morning.
‘’There it is!’’ You say happily as you roll out of bed and towards the dresser that was next to the bathroom. On Top of the wooden dresser was a handwritten note covered in chicken stickers, and a red rose next to it. Grinning you grabbed both items and jumped back into bed, excited to see what the dumb bird had wrote for today.
Ever since the pandemic started, and since Keigo had been having long shifts, he’d always left letters for you to read in the morning, and a different coloured rose everyday. It made him leaving easier, and the fact that he spent time writing and putting his feelings into them always sparked joy.
Carefully opening the note, you were met with Keigo’s chicken scratch handwriting. You loved him, but one day you were going to give him writing lessons. You shook your head in amusement, ignoring the bad handwriting, you began reading.
‘Good Morning Chickadee,
I hope you had a good sleep baby, I came home late again but as soon as I had the chance you were in my arms. You cuddled up to me instantly, what if I was some intruder? I guess even in your sleep you recognize me and my godliness.
Anyways, I apologize for once more coming home late beautiful. Work has been a bit stressful, but I believe we’ve put a dent on the villains plans. Only small time villains are really causing trouble, and were handling it pretty well. I think sooner or later we won’t need so much patrolling anymore. Hopefully soon, I wanna spend time with my lil nugget.
Oh! I have some news.
Someway or another, I will get off early today and spend some very much needed time between the two of us.
Not to be too sappy in this letter, but, I really miss you y/n. Way more than words can describe. It’s lonely patrolling instead of being home with you and having fun, and honestly just the thought of coming home to you at night is the only way I’m getting through my days at work.
I miss you and the weird laughter you let out at my god awful jokes, I miss you and the way your eyes sparkle when you look at something you like, I miss you and the way you love me unconditionally even when i’m being a weird asshole.
I love you y/n, and I’ll see you tonight dove.
-The best boyfriend ever
ps. You mumbled my name in your sleep.. Having some good dreams huh ;)’
‘’I hate him so much’’ You say while grinning and holding the note towards your chest, your heart beating like crazy. It was weird he still had this affect on you despite dating for a few years, but you hoped this feeling never went away. Neatly folding the note back to how it was, you crawled to the edge of the bed and pulled out a container that was hidden under the bed. Popping the lid off, you placed the note from today alongside the other notes you’ve received over the weeks.
‘’I love you Keigo’’ You whisper lovingly before closing the box once more, sliding the box back under your bed. Picking up the rose you abandoned, you smiled at it. The red rose was beautiful, and it seemed your lover had taken the time to cut the thorns off it.
Shaking your head with a smile, you stood up and walked out the bedroom, your feet padding against the cold ground. ‘’God it’s freezing” You mumble out loud shivering physically, before heading into the kitchen. Opening the window above the sink, you see a cast of 7 different colored roses from this week alone. ‘’Here's your new home’’ You say softly to the red rose before placing it in the vase next to the others.
Leaning against the sink, your gaze wandered to the window or more specifically what's outside the window. The beautiful flowers that were blooming outside made your mood feel lighter, and hearing the kids laughter who was next door made your heart clench in joy.
You couldn’t wait to start a family with the love of your life.
Now that you were up, you would start your daily routine of going with the flow and seeing where the day would take you. Hoping that Keigo would keep his promise in the note and come home early so you could shower him with much needed affection
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~
Sighing, you turned off the tv with the remote, eyes getting tired of staring at the same screen for hours. Looking over at the clock, you read it was currently 8pm. While your boyfriend said he’d be home tonight, it was starting to get late and you were questioning if he’d actually show.
Not that it’s his fault or anything, you knew his job could get stressful. Yet that wouldn’t stop the disappointment that started to set in, which was a very valid feeling.
Standing up you begin to head towards the bathroom, planning to simply take a bath before getting comfy in your bed and reading, a hobby you picked up after quarantine.
‘’HONEY I’M HOME’’
A voice shouts after forcefully kicking down the door, startling you and making you flinch. None other then Takami fucking Keigo was standing at the door, wings tucked neatly behind his back, huge grin on his face and two grocery bags in both hands.
‘’Keigo, you scared me’’ You say with an angry look before everything set in. ‘’Wait.. Keigo..’’ The light bulb in your head turned on and before your brain could process it anymore, you were flying across the room and jumping into your lovers arm.
Keigo let out a grunt at the sudden attack, but smiled at your innocent gesture. He placed the bags down and wrapped his arms around your body, spinning you around as he bear hugged you. ‘’I’ve missed you too’’ He says, kissing the top of your head. ‘’I told you’d I’d be home tonight, I hope you didn’t lose hope’’ He says as he grins down at your sheepish expression.
‘’No worries though’’ He comments before picking back up the backs he previously dropped. ‘’So, I have a whole plan in mind for tonight, which I am very excited for’’ He says before kicking the door shut and walking into the kitchen. He places the bags on the counter, ‘’So just sit back and relax and I’ll make this a date night you’ll never forget.’’
You tilt your head in curiosity, now wanting to know what this bird brain had planned, but you couldn’t help but get excited along with him. It had been a while since the two of you properly hung out with each other. ‘’So Mister ‘’I have everything planned out already’ what's on the agenda right now?
‘’Well Chickadee, we are gonna make dinner together’’ Keigo says with a bright smile, but cringe when he see’s your deadpanned expression. ‘’Don’t look at me like that dove, I promise it isn’t what you think it is’’
You saw through his desperate attempt to lie. ‘’Kiego did you plan on making chicken again’’ You say while staring him down, and when you see his head hang in shame you laugh. Stepping closer to the male you lift his head back up and press a quick kiss against his lips. ‘’It’s okay, I don’t mind having chicken for the seventh time in the row. Your cooking is actually pretty good’ You comment before stepping away, tying up your hair so you could help as well.
‘’WOO!’’ Keigo winked as he gave you finger guns, ‘’Chicken never gets old babe, thought you knew this’’ When you responded by throwing said bag of chicken at him he screeched before catching it and laughing.
You pull out your phone and play your favourite playlist, so the two of you could bop while cooking. ‘’Oh we can make cookies as dessert! It’s the one thing I can actually bake’’ You say sheepishly, sticking out your tongue when your lover nods in agreement.
With that, the two of you jammed quietly as you began the preparation of dinner.
While you were pouring the cups of flour into the big mixing bowl, you suddenly got the idea to terrorize the male who was singing quietly behind you. Scooping some in your hands, you turn around and innocently call out his name. You wait until the perfect moment. Which is when he turns around fast, a small smile on his face as he quirks his brow. He immediately see’s what you're about to do, but it's too late anyways.
You blow the white powder in your hand right at him, watching as he closes his eyes and screams. ‘’Y/N!! IT'S ON NOW’’
And while you thought this was a good idea at first, when you saw Keigo open his eyes and reveal the determination within them, you mentally cursed. And from there started the flour war, with the two of you giggling while throwing flour at each other.
It ended when you were running to throw some flour at him, but ended up instead eating shit and busting your ass on the wooden floor. Keigo, who was concerned, couldn’t help but start laughing as he helped you off, dusting the flour out of your hair. ‘’Oh gosh, we’ve made a mess of the kitchen’’
Looking around he was right, everywhere you looked there was flour, and now the two of you regretted ever touching the damn powder.
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~
After some cleaning, and a mini dance session to a couple of songs, the food was finally ready and the two of you sat at the table eating together.
‘’Yeah there was this big spider and I was so scared, I yelled for you and then realized I’d have to get rid of it myself’’ You spoke between bites, your eyes lighting up as you continued telling the story of how a huge spider made its way inside your home.
Kiego just stared at you silently, his mind not even processing your words anymore. You were so cute when you started to ramble, he honestly missed the way you would get so into your stories. Sometimes he didn’t think you were real, you were too perfect. But he was glad you were his, because at the end of the day, he was wholeheartedly yours and he was glad you shared the sentiment.
You two continued to chat as you ate, nothing too important just random chatter to fill the silence. The two of you had so much to tell each other that you didn’t even know much time had passed. Two hours had passed by in the blink of the eye, and you didn’t notice until you glanced at the clock behind you. ‘’Wow it’s getting late’’ You comment, putting the dry dish where it was supposed to go, stepping away from the sink.
Keigo nods, ‘’Time sure does pass when you’re having fun’’ He says with a soft smile, before taking your hand in his, ‘’Come on, I have one more activity I wanna do before sleeping’’ He said as he picked up the last bag that was still sitting on the counter.
You nod, trying to get a peek inside the bag only to be met with him pulling it closer to his body. Letting out a pout, you followed as he pulled you upstairs, nearly sliping as your socks slid across the wooden stairs. ‘’Jeez, the stairs are trying to kill me’’ You complain, glad when the two of you reach the bedroom.
Kiego then whips around, ‘’You should go clean up, you know to get the flour out of your hair’’ He says nervously, and while you wanted to ask why he suddenly started acting weird, a voice inside your head told you just to listen. You simply nodded and gave him a grin, ‘’Okay I will, better not run away while I do’’ You say before going inside the bathroom, shutting the door behind you.
Keigo lets out a deep breath, his eyes drifting to the bag in his hand. ‘’Don’t fail me now’’ he whispered to himself as encouragement.
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~
Finally done with washing your hair, and getting the flour out of random places you stared at the door in front of you. It was obvious he was doing something out there since you heard his hard footsteps running all around the place. Yet you wanted to give him all the time he needed, and the fact that he was trying to surprise you was cute.
Suddenly, you hear music start to play, making your brows furrow. It sounded like that one song..
‘’Dove you can come out now,,’’ You heard the slight panic in his voice, which made you nervous too. Pushing those feelings aside, you open the door and slowly peak out.
‘What would I do without your smart mouth?
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
You've got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind
I'm on your magical mystery ride
And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright’
You stand in shock as the lyrics start to reach your ears, which was the song the two of you danced to when he first confessed his love to you. The next thing that almost brought you to tears was the sight in front of you.
Standing in the dim moonlight, your lover was standing proud and tall in the balcony, a nervous smile on his face. Leading up to him were red and pink rose petals, some thrown on the bed as well.
‘’Keigo’’ You whisper as you start walking in his direction, not even caring that the petals stuck to your feet as you walked.
‘My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine
You're crazy and I'm out of my mind’
You finally reach your lover, who in fact still has some flour in his hair. Yet that didn’t matter, because all you could see was his beautiful face, the way his blonde locks flowed in the wind, and how his golden eyes sparkled with an emotion you knew all too well.
Love.
‘’Hi my love, I wanted to end the night really special’’ Keigo whispers as his hands find their way to your waist, pulling you in as your arms wrapped around his neck.
’Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you’
The two of you start to sway to the song, your eyes staring into his honey coloured ones. You were caught in a trance, a trance you didn’t really mind at all.
You loved this man more than anything and anyone you knew. Even when he was being a weirdo or saying unfunny jokes, you always found him entertaining. You loved him and all his imperfections. Arguments never tend to last long between you guys as of the unconditional love you had for one another.
As the song started to come to an end, you laid your head on his shoulder, embracing this moment and engraving it in your mind. Tonight was simply perfect, and while the two of you didn’t do much, you still had a blast with your boyfriend.
’I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh oh’
You pulled your head off his shoulder when he started to sing the final lines of the song, a genuine smile on his face. ‘’Kei-’’ As the song turns off, he suddenly lets go of your waist and bends down onto one knee, his hand reaching inside his pocket.
‘’ Ah, so here I go’’ The male says as a blush covering his face and running up to his ears. You stand there shocked, your hands coming up to cover your mouth.
‘’Quarantine has been pretty rough haha, but it has taught me a lesson. The world is a scary place, and when this virus pops out of nowhere, I’ve noticed that anything can happen. It’s scary to think that villains aren’t are only problems, but some killer disease could sweep over and take away our happy lives’’
Keigo takes a deep breath, before putting on a nervous smile.
‘’These last few days that I’ve been apart from you made me realize that I never, NEVER, want to be away from you again. I realized that I want to spend all my time that I have left here with you. Y/N, I love you so much’’ He laughs, ‘’I’ve been nothing but happy with you, and you bring out the best in me, and without you I wouldn’t have found myself. I never thought I’d find love, If anything, I just thought I was made to be a hero and nothing more. But I’ve figured out that I can be a hero and also love you.’’
‘’You are my pride and joy, my dove, my chickadee, my beautiful lover...What I’m trying to say is, I love your last name, But I’d prefer if you’d take mine’’
You giggle at his words, tears slipping down your face. You were speechless, and honestly couldn’t even compel yourself to say anything.
‘’Y/N L/N, will you make me the happiest bird every and marry me?’’
You can’t help the shit eating grin on your face as you stare down at your lover, your best friend and the best thing that has ever happened to you. ‘’Keigo’’ You say as more tears fall down your face, your voice shaking as your brain processes everything that just happened. ‘’Yes duh! Who would say no to you’’ You yell, your bottom lip trembling as he stands up and slips the gorgeous diamond ring onto your finger, kissing the ring after he placed it.
‘’I love you’’ The two of you whisper at the same time, both of you gazing into each other's eyes. The both of you were crying, and it made it more special to see him showing so much emotion.
Keigo leaned in slowly, ‘’I’ve loved you for many years Y/N, and I’ll continue to love you until my dying days’’ He says softly before pressing his lips against yours, one hand holding your cheek and the other bringing your waist closer to him.
And with that, moonlight shined on the newly engaged couple, who still had their whole life ahead of them.

Different worlds, same heart - Chapter 6
Chapter summary: The charms course has come to an end and it’s time to say goodbye although (Y/N) is not ready yet, Tina and the Scamander brothers too close to her heart. In a most personal farewell, she finds herself wanting to delay her return to Hogwarts while Theseus holds her in his warm embrace, admitting he’s also going to miss her.
PART 1 – PART 2 – PART 3 – PART 4 – PART 5
***
“Don’t hold back” (Y/N) smiled at her opponent.
Theseus smiled back and the both of them started to throw spells at each other, some verbal, some not, putting in practice what (Y/N) had taught the Aurors in those last weeks. The rest of the group observed them fighting, not knowing which one could win.
After good ten minutes, Theseus threw a non-verbal spell which made her fly back and, before colliding with the floor, Newt caught her. She smiled up at him and then at his older sibling who was panting a bit tired. The rest of Aurors started to clap, which (Y/N) joined smiling brightly.
“Well, I think I can’t teach you anything else. If you need any more help with the spells, your leader is fit enough to help you out” they all laughed and Theseus bowed jokingly “it’s been a pleasure working with you all, really, and I can’t thank you enough how comfortable and welcome you’ve made me feel in the last weeks. I’m going back to Hogwarts, but if you need anything, I’m a jump away. Thank you so much to you all and good luck”.
The room erupted in claps, all of them approached (Y/N) to say goodbye in a more personal note, making her tear up a bit because of the warm farewell from the Aurors. The Scamander brothers and Tina waited till the end, not really knowing how to say goodbye.
“Oh no, I’m not ready to say goodbye to you three just yet” she said looking briefly a Theseus “I would like you to come to have dinner at my home, if you want of course. Don’t want to impose at all”.
Tina smiled brightly “it will be a pleasure!”.
(Y/N) smiled back and looked at the brothers who nodded “count on us” said Theseus.
The woman blushed with a small laugh and the four of them talked about the details for that night meeting.
“See you tonight” said the older Scamander once they were going to part ways at the door of her house.
“I’m looking forward to it” she smiled happily before turning to step into the building.
Theseus chuckled watching her disappear and kept a small smile while going back to his own house. There, he couldn’t help but think about the times she had been there, at the beginning because of her nightmares but then because they just enjoyed each other company. Those walls had known her tears, her laughs, her confidences and vulnerability. And he turned sad. He wasn’t ready to say goodbye either.
That night, Theseus picked up Newt and Tina before leading them to (Y/N)’s house who welcomed them warmly.
“It smells amazing, (Y/N)” Tina said when they stepped into the living room.
“Oh, thank you, dear. I’m not the best when it comes about cooking but I’ve learnt a thing or two back in Hogwarts, some elves are quite chatty. Please, get yourself comfortable!”.
“I have to go down the suitcase to feed some creatures” Newt mumbled shyly.
“May I go with you?” (Y/N) asked with big eyes.
The magizoologist was surprised but nodded with a smile.
They all ended up going down the staircase, Theseus wasn’t much a fan but enjoyed seeing his brother discussing with (Y/N) about some of the creatures and how Newt gravitated towards Tina who couldn’t stop smiling in Newt’s presence. Theseus chuckled watching how his little brother fell in love even more with the brave Auror. Meanwhile, he couldn’t help but admire how (Y/N) was fascinated with every creature, a special spark in her eyes and a permanent face of amazement.
Once they were all having dinner at (Y/N)’s dinning room, they all talked about their future plans, without mentioning the possibility of a futile future if Grindelwald won.
“I know I’m going to get old in Hogwarts” the professor said “I can’t imagine myself doing another thing”.
“As I do with creatures” Newt added with a small smile.
“You would be a good teacher of Care of Magic Creatures”.
“I-I don’t see myself being-being a teacher”.
“I said you would be, not you should be” she smiled at him “you are a free spirit after all. But I’m going to pester the director to make your book the basic one for that subject”.
Newt blushed but smiled at her with thankfulness.
Tina had to go back home before midnight so both women embraced each tightly, promising to write each other and visit as soon as they could. Newt, as the gentleman he was, offered himself to go with Tina. (Y/N) and the magizoologist shared a short hug as an expression of the affection they had harbour for each other in the last weeks, promising to keep in contact. Besides, Newt knew his brother wanted to have his own goodbye.
Theseus helped (Y/N) to clean up after the dinner in the muggle way, wanting to stretch the time they still had.
“If you… If I asked you again to join the Aurors, would you?” Theseus asked when they both were drinking a cup of tea while chatting in the living room, she titled her head smiling and he coughed “Miss (Y/S), would you kindly reconsider to occupy a position between our lines in the Auror department? It would be a pleasure to work along side such a brilliant mind”.
(Y/N) laughed letting her head fall backwards a bit, remembering all the times Theseus had asked the same in the past and making him smile brightly “you know my answer but… You’ve made me doubt for a moment. Made me see myself working with you”.
Theseus shook his head “if I have made that, I’m terribly proud of it”.
She smiled and nodded “you should, yeah. But you make it easy. I mean, I…” she blushed looking down, her shy side coming out again. He sighed and put his hand over hers calling her attention “I’m going to miss you”.
(Y/N) pressed her lips into a thin line and wrapped her arms around his torso, pressing her face against his shoulder. Theseus hugged her back immediately and kissed her hair, not an unknown act from him. She sighed and flexed her fingers against his back before pulling away slightly to look at his eyes “I’m going to miss you too”.
Both of them smiled but decided it was time to part ways and they went to the main door. She smiled sadly at him and crossed her arms over her chest, feeling lonely suddenly “promise to write. I think I’m going to go mad worrying about your role as leader of the Aurors”.
“Don’t worry too much, concentrate in teaching the future generations”.
“Don’t ask me not to worry about you, I hold you dear, you know?”.
Theseus smiled and she uncrossed her arms shaking her head while her cheeks turned red. He observed her and decided to take both her hands between his, making her look up at him shyly.
“I promise to inform you of my wellbeing, I hope to hear about how much the kids learn with you”.
(Y/N) laughed and squeezed his hands a bit. He smiled and kissed her forehead softly before pulling away completely, their hands losing their hold slowly.
“See you soon, (Y/N)” he smiled.
“See you soon, Theseus”.
He disappeared in the night while she sighed closing her door. She put her hand over her chest and closed her eyes hoping it would slow down.
The return to Hogwarts was marvellous, she had truly missed the school and the children so going back to the routine wasn’t that difficult. But to be totally truthful, she sometimes missed teaching the Aurors. Actually, she missed her time with her friends. And the one that was more even though her head told her not to admit what her heart desired.
Three weeks later, in which she exchanged letters with Tina, Newt and Theseus, she was in her class with Hufflepuffs and Slytherins when a silver figure flew by the window. One of the students opened it and the figure went to (Y/N) but, before it could say anything, it disappeared.
“Professor, what was that?” a boy asked with curiosity.
“That was a Patronus, McArdle. You will learn it in Defence against Dark Arts” she coughed before looking at the children of first year “I’m afraid the class has to end now. Go back to your common rooms, please. Not homework for tomorrow”.
(Y/N) alerted Dumbledore and the director with her own patronus before going outside of Hogwarts and apparated to the ministry, her heart telling her she would find Theseus there waiting for her.

Countess Dracula
In Countess Dracula we have the tale of a lonely old woman who discovers that she can make herself young again, just so long as she doesn’t mind having to murder somebody to do it (she doesn’t). Our antiheroine uses this newfound youth to seduce the least interesting man in the movie, until at last her misdeeds catch up with her when her latest victim turns out to have been the wrong demographic to make the magic work.
Does that sound familiar? Yeah, this is a very Leech-Woman-y movie. It stars Nigel Green, the news announcer from Gorgo, and comes to us from Hammer Studios, home of Moon Zero-Two. The director, Peter Sasdy, never made anything that wound up on MST3K but he did work on the legendary Pia Zadora bomb, The Lonely Lady. Countess Dracula is not a wild ride, as its pace is fairly sedate, but it is certainly a ride nonetheless.
The count of somewhere or other has just died, leaving his realm to his nineteen-year-old daughter Ilona – and technically also leaving his spiteful widow, Elizabeth, free to marry her longtime lover Captain Dobi. Most people would consider this a perfectly acceptable retirement, but Elizabeth is impossible to satisfy. She doesn’t want to grow old while Ilona (currently on her way home from finishing school in Vienna) rules the county and gets all the attention. When Elizabeth discovers that bathing in the blood of virgins restores her youth, she embraces murder as a hobby and has Ilona locked up so she can stay in charge while posing as her own daughter! In that guise she sets out to pursue handsome young Imre, the son of her husband’s most trusted general, while jealous Dobi can only sit and seethe.
I bet you think you can guess how this movie ends. I bet you think Dobi tells Imre the countess’ secret, and the two of them defeat her. Or else the real Ilona escapes and meets him, they expose Elizabeth as a fraud, and then get married and rule the land with justice and mercy or something. That’s what would happen in a normal movie… but you guys know I don’t watch normal movies. Maybe instead you’re guessing that nobody does shit and Elizabeth just carries on her merry way until she’d destroyed by her own hubris? That’s more like it.
Not all of Hammer’s films were good, but they were generally pretty well-made and Countess Dracula is not an exception. The elaborate costumes and sets are very nice, although areas like the town square are obviously artificial and the old lady makeup on Ingrid Pitt as Elizabeth is pretty bad. There’s also a young woman made up in very ugly brownface as a ‘gypsy girl’, except they totally forgot to do any makeup on her for the scene where her naked corpse is discovered in the woods.
There are even a couple really well-done moments of storytelling and worldbuilding. A scene in a pub, when everybody falls silent as Dobi and Imre enter, shows eloquently how terrified the peasants are of the aristocracy. Elizabeth gets some chilling bits when we see the true depth of her depravity. She sees no difference between controlling people through love and controlling them through fear – either way, she gets what she wants, and their feelings don’t matter. My favourite detail is the subtle cultural conflict going on in the background, as the characters speak disparagingly of ‘Turks’ and yet have clearly picked up some bits and pieces of Ottoman culture.
Although its plot outline is very similar to The Leech Woman, the philosophy of Countess Dracula is completely different. The Leech Woman didn’t really give June a viable alternative to her poisoned fountain of youth. Old women in its world can only sit around and drink and know that nobody loves them. Elizabeth, however, has a possible future – Dobi repeatedly notes that he’s been waiting twenty years for the opportunity to legitimatize his relationship with her. He would have happily devoted himself to her for the rest of his life, and the two of them could have lived in retirement while Imre and Ilona gave them grandchildren to spoil. Dobi even says there is dignity in age, directly contradicting The Leech Woman by applying it equally to both sexes. June was more or less forced to become a monster, while Elizabeth chooses it explicitly.
So there’s honestly some pretty good stuff in this film. Where it unfortunately falls on its face is with the characters, none of whom can really be said to have an arc, and the ending, which is rushed and unsatisfying.
The movie’s main focus is always on Elizabeth, but she refuses to grow or learn anything at any point. She starts off as a nasty, selfish bitch and just stays a nasty, selfish bitch. She has no actual master plan, but seems convinced that she can keep up this charade indefinitely, even though Dobi points out the impracticality of that. Dobi believes she’s going mad, but the truth seems to be she’s just horrible. She is evidently terrified of growing old, but that is never explored. We see her react to aging, rather violently at times, but we never find out what the root of this fear is.
All this means that Elizabeth, despite being the focal character, is never sympathetic. June in The Leech Woman at least started off as somebody we could pity, before she descended into depravity. Elizabeth is a terrible person from the get-go, as illustrated in the very opening when she has her coachman run over a peasant who wants her to fulfill a promise her late husband made her.
Imre and Ilona are pretty much complete ciphers. Imre spends the entire movie in Elizabeth’s thrall one way or another. He is madly in love with her in her guise as Ilona, and after finding out the truth he’s too scared of her to openly defy her. The only personality trait he manifests is gullible foolishness, and any sympathy we might have had for him evaporates when he cheerfully kisses a barmaid’s tit on the same day when he’s proposed marriage to the woman he believes is his true love. Ilona spends most of the movie locked up in some mute peasant’s hut doing not much. When she finally enters the story properly, she comes across as stunningly stupid.
The character who does the most to try to thwart Elizabeth is her lover Dobi, but he’s less interested in stopping her from killing virgins than he is in having her to himself. He gets Imre drunk and tosses him in bed with the barmaid in the hope that Elizabeth will reject him, and later takes Imre to see Elizabeth bathing in blood to youthen herself. These things don’t work, partly because Imre is an idiot and partly because Elizabeth is always more evil than he thought she was, but at least he tries.
At the end of the movie, Elizabeth’s latest bloodbath wears off in the middle of her wedding to Imre, and she runs off to murder Ilona in order to make herself young again. Imre tries to stop her and gets stabbed for his trouble, which does at least expose Elizabeth’s evildoing to one and all, and she and Dobi are hanged. What happens to Ilona I’m not sure, but I know they didn’t have therapists in the seventeenth century. Nobody wins here. It’s a downer for everybody, including the superstitious peasants, who will continue to be terrified of their rulers now that their worst fears have been confirmed.
Several things might be made of the fact that it’s young women Elizabeth is killing. It’s interesting to note that the idea of male virginity is never even brought up. We could contrast two depictions of motherhood, in the form of Elizabeth’s jealousy of Ilona versus Juli the nurse’s unconditional love for her. There’s Imre’s description of ‘Ilona’ as embodying all aspects of womanhood, to which Dobi replies that no woman can be maiden, mother, and whore all at once… yet that is just what Elizabeth is trying to be. What I find interesting in this, however, is how the movie depicts Elizabeth’s own internalized misogyny, in the fucked-up attitudes she displays towards youth, beauty, and gender.
Elizabeth feels that age and experience have made her undesirable. Dobi assures her that he finds her as attractive as he ever did, but she evidently does not believe him, and her mistreatment of her female servants has a definite note of jealousy in it. She kills young virgins not only to gain their desirability, but because she hates them for what they have and she does not.
What’s unusual is that she applies this same attitude towards the men in her life. Elizabeth is no longer attracted to Dobi, because he is old and experienced. Their affair has gone on for years, and in Dobi’s mind this has only deepened his love for her – but Elizabeth is tired of it and wants something new. Imre is young, handsome, and innocent. He has no wealth of his own and has not yet really accomplished much in life, but Elizabeth doesn’t care. If all she has to be is young and pretty, then how could she ask anything more of him?
Here, Dobi and Elizabeth represent two different versions of gender equality as it applies to sexual attractiveness, with him raising Elizabeth to his level, and her lowering Dobi and Imre to hers! Elizabeth treating the men in her life as she has been treated illustrates the inequality quite sharply, but what ultimately destroys her is applying the same standards to herself. She believes so totally that nothing else matters as long as she is beautiful that she doesn’t care what she has to do to accomplish it, or who sees her do it. In the end, she is undone by her own self-loathing.

!! I hope I’m okay to send in a prompt!! I know ur busy with other ones rn - I’m thinking 35 from this list - maybe a post-mungocavity mungoteazer thing? Doesn’t need to be shippy or anything, just think it might be an interesting conversation for them to explore :DD
“Psssst! Hey, Jerrie!”
“Mmmph… go to sleep, leave me ‘lone.”
No sooner had he rolled over than a claw came down and flicked him right over the nose, making him wince. “Ow! Okay, okay, ‘m awake…” Not like he could sleep much anyway. Crawling out the skylight of the den he shared with his mums and Cettie, Mungojerrie leaped across to join Rumpleteazer on the great tire, stretching his cramping legs out behind him as he landed.
“Did you go check on Deme?” she asked, as if she hadn’t just rudely woken him up.
Jerrie pointedly flopped down next to her. Even if he couldn’t sleep, he was still going to try and relax. “We don’t have to, remember? Munk and Alonzo are with her, it’s fine.”
“Well, yeah, but… it’s not really the same, yeah?”
… Honestly, fair enough. There were so many eyes on everyone here in the Junkyard, Jerrie had started to feel kind of useless. Looking in on Demeter and Jemima every night to make sure she’d eaten the food they’d brought or that she was sleeping all right through a bad storm had become second nature, and it would be hard to shake. “Yeah… she’s okay. I popped in a few hours ago—she was telling Jemi a story before bed.”
“Is Jemi okay, too?”
Oh, yeah, she’s fine. She’s a kitten, they always bounce back.”
Teazer nodded, flopping onto her side to mirror her cousin’s posture. “You know that toy shop we passed on our last night out? There’s a big bunny rabbit right there in the window—I figured Jemi might really like that.”
Jerrie knew exactly which one she meant. It was as tall as the two of them stacked on top of each other and at least that wide, but at least it looked soft. Poor Jemi would probably get squished underneath if it happened to fall over. “I don’t think that’s gonna fit in her den, Teaze.”
Teazer blew a raspberry and dismissively waved a paw. “She wouldn’t even need a bed in there, she can just sleep on top of it.”
That pulled a laugh out of Jerrie in spite of himself. “Right, we’ll hit there next. We’ll have to get some more nails to get through the glass.”
“Hey, don’t worry about it. I’ve got it figured out.” Which didn’t exactly inspire confidence—usually when Teazer said she had it figured out, it meant she was going to wildly improvise until she somehow got what she wanted—but he didn’t feel like arguing the point. His head still felt like it was full of lint, and he rolled over and folded his front paws under it to stare up at the sky. There was really nothing to look at since all the signs at night made everything a dull yellow color, but at least the moon was there. You could see more of it here than you could see from the Mouser’s Palace… no tiny windows, no constant cloud of smoke… just sky. And it made the moon look that much bigger.
It was a little nerve-wracking, honestly.
“What d’you think Munk would say?”
Jerrie didn’t know why he’d asked, and Teazer was looking at him like he’d just grown an extra head. “Huh?”
“If he finds out we stole it… what d’you think he’d do?” Now it wouldn’t leave him alone…
Teazer frowned, raking her claws slowly along one ear. “He wouldn’t kick us out, would he?”
… Oh, that was why. Jerrie felt a little colder at the prospect of being thrown back onto the streets. Yeah, their Victoria Grove family would always be there, but they were only humans—humans could never understand. It was hard to put into words, but they couldn’t talk back or play or be good company in a way that really mattered, no matter how much you loved them. Cats who only knew humans, not other cats, other real friends… they were the loneliest creatures Jerrie could think of.
Even with Macavity, they weren’t that lonely. Lonely cats were a threat. The closer-knit you all were under his claws, the better.
“Probably not,” he mused after a moment. “We’d be doing something nice for Jemi—not like anybody would get hurt.”
“He wouldn’t try to… you know…?” Teazer’s ears folded back against her skull as the words dried up.
This time Jerrie shook his head. Munk almost never got mad. He got disappointed, which was almost worse, but disappointed didn’t make you shred somebody’s ears or yank at their whiskers or leave them walking sideways for a week after a twisted ankle. “Probably not. He’s not like Macavity was.”
“He is his little brother, though.”
“That doesn’t really mean anything. Tugger’s his little brother, and they’re nothing alike.”
Teazer nodded, but she didn’t really look convinced. Stretching out onto her side, she propped her head up over one arm and watched a single dark cloud drift over the moon, blotting it out for a moment.
“What do you think he’d do?”
Jerrie glanced over at her. “Me?”
“Yeah.”
He shrugged. “Probably yell at us. Like our mums and dads would. And he might not let us back out for a while.” Macavity used to do that, too. If they brought back a score he wasn’t satisfied with, he’d essentially lock them in the Mouser’s Palace until he needed them again. For the most part, that suited them fine—it gave them more time to collect gossip and check in on Demeter and Jemima. And it almost always guaranteed their next score would be even bigger and more ambitious, so their instincts stayed sharp. It might not be so bad here either—the Junkyard might be smaller, but there were more cats who were always freely and happily chatting, and the rubbish piles had to be full of treasures…
Although comparing the two wasn’t making him feel any better. If anything, it just made him feel even colder, even though it was a warm night.
“You okay?”
Teazer’s voice startled him, but he tried not to shiver too much and inject some life into his own voice. “Yeah, I’m fine… you?”
“Just ducky.” She sounded just as hollow and nervous, but she’d papered over it with her best Jenyanydots impression. It was so terrible that again Jerrie had to laugh just a little bit before they lapsed back into silence. The moon was visible again and much too bright as it stared down back at them in turn.
#asked and answered#0zzysaurus#cats the musical#mungojerrie#rumpleteazer#I really wanted to capture a more anxious mood with this one--for some reason Jerrie and Demeter in particular bring that out in these fics.#There's an interesting commentary there but I'm not clever enough to make it. :P#Anyway I hope you like this! Jerrie and Teazer are cousins and not mates in my headcanon but I hope I still did this prompt justice. <3

Webcam
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x (female!)reader.
Word Count: 2800-ish
Summary: You and Bucky try something you’ve never tried before.
A/N: Based on the song ‘Cyber Sex’ by Doja Cat. (I’M OBSESSED WITH HER RIGHT NOW, OKAY?!” also my first smut so be gentle ;)
Warnings: 18+ SMUT (don’t read if you’re a minor mmkay?); masturbation; cursing
For the fourth time in half an hour, you looked at yourself in the mirror. With one finger, you cleaned up your lip gloss, removing it from the edge of your lower lip before tousling your hair to give it more volume. You straightened out your dress next, blushing to yourself when you thought of what you wore underneath. Bucky had no idea what was coming to him, you were sure of it. After all, you’d never had cybersex before. The guy hardly knew how to work an iPhone 4.
“Can you see me yet?”
You chuckled, adjusting your camera so he would be able to see you better. Staring back at you was a black screen with three dots in the center and a small cutout square in the corner in which you could see yourself waving your hand in front of the webcam. You wiggled in your seat and squeezed your thighs together, anticipation bubbling in your lower belly at the thought of what you were about to do.
“No,” he muttered, “how the hell does this work again? Hang on, baby, the computer hates me.”
He pressed several buttons, thick fingers jamming the keyboard in quick motions. You doubted he had any clue what he was doing. Technology had never been Bucky’s strong suit.
You rolled your eyes and snorted, “James, we went over this. You have to press the camera button and make your own screen smaller with the little arrows so you can see me.”
A picture suddenly replaced the blackness, causing your cheeks to heat up and your heart to skip. There he was, your man, staring at his screen with a deep frown on his forehead and his tongue sticking out of his mouth; his concentration face. He was still dressed in his tactile suit, streaks of dirt evident on his chiseled cheekbones.
“I see you now,” he said, smiling at you, “can you see me?”
You nodded and waved again, smiling wide when he returned the gesture. You’d never get tired of seeing that face, not in a million years. He’d always give you butterflies.
“Where’s Steve?” You asked to be safe, peering into the motel room behind him.
“Got his own room for the night,” he commented, “I wanted to be alone with my best girl.”
He got up, placing the gun that had been lying on the desk in front of his computer on the nightstand of his double bed. The entire room seemed to entirely be clad in 80s decor, from the wallpaper to the sheets and even the TV behind him. You watched as he took another weapon from his waistband and placed it beside the other one. Then a knife, which he collected from his right boot, ended up on the table as well.
“How long have you been in?” You asked.
“We just got back ten minutes ago,” he smiled, “I couldn’t wait to see your face. I miss you.”
“I miss you too,” you said, “come sit down, big guy.”
He did as told and took a seat after taking his jacket off and hanging it up over the back of the chair. His finger went out to touch the screen but recoiled when he realized it was silly. He really did miss you, it had been too damn long since he was able to touch you.
Bucky and Steve left nearly two months ago. He knew it would be a long mission with endless stakeouts and not a lot of action, which made the time pass by even slower. Every day he’d sit in various hiding spots for hours, underneath bushes, behind trees and sometimes even high up inside them with weapons at the ready but nobody to shoot. HYDRA employees seemed to live in the underground facility he and Steve had been staking out for weeks now because neither of them had seen anyone go in our out so far and it was starting to become frustrating.
“We’re thinking we might call it quits in a few days,” he said, rubbing his arms, “we haven’t seen shit and we both doubt things will change anytime soon. It looks like they’re laying low for now. All the cameras are almost set up anyway, so we can watch ‘em remotely.”
You nodded happily, excited at the prospect of seeing your boyfriend again soon. You missed him terribly, missed having him by your side every day and in your bed every night. You missed pulling at his hair while his hands were on your hips, fingertips pushing into your bare skin as he drew profanities from your lips. Fuck, you missed him terribly.
“Speaking of cameras,” you grinned, “do you like my new dress? Haven’t had a chance to show you yet.” You asked, getting up from your chair.
You pushed it back so your whole body could get in the frame, your hands slowly running down the length of the pastel gingham dress that made your skin tone stand out beautifully. You could see Bucky closing in on his computer screen to see better, lower lip between his teeth when you twirled for him, making the skirt lift to expose more of your skin. He looked down at the white knee socks that clad your legs and the black Mary-Jane pumps on your feet and his lip turned red from the biting.
“I love it,” he said breathlessly, “really makin’ me miss you right now.”
“I’ve so been lonely without you,” you purred.
To say you’d planned how this would go be a lie. You’d never undressed on camera before and weren’t exactly confident in your abilities to sensually strip for a man, but it was Bucky who you were doing it for and just knowing that made you feel more at ease. Nevertheless, your heart thumped in your chest while your fingers went to the hem of the dress, which ended just above your knees. Bucky frowned as you began to lift the piece of fabric slowly over your thighs, his breath hitching when you looked up into the webcam.
“What’re you doing?” He asked breathlessly, “baby...”
He knew damn well what you were doing, he could see what you were doing with his icy blues, but he was afraid, terrified to think they were deceiving him or that it was all a terribly wonderful dream. Either way, he didn’t want to wake up before having the chance to see it all unfold. Being away from you for so long was starting to remind him of going to war. To make matters worse, he couldn’t just easily jerk off with Steve’s supersoldier hearing. Bucky was itching for release.
“Wanna show you how much I miss you, James,” you cooed, “cause I miss you real bad.”
Your hands left the hem for a moment, fabric dropping to just above your knees again. Then, they found the underside of your breasts, your sternum, your stomach, and your hips. You caressed yourself, flicking your own nipples and fiddling with the cotton straps slowly before you finally lifted the dress up again, further this time. He’d soon be able to see your new underwear, pretty, soft, and pink just like your pussy.
As soon as the fabric of the dress exposed the line of your panties, Bucky was gripping the table in front of him like his life depended on it. He’d never in his life thought about using modern communication devices for, well, sexual purposes, but the growing pressure inside his tactile pants had him suppressing a groan he could hardly keep inside his hot mouth and he had to stop himself from bucking his hips forward in an attempt to create deliciously painful friction against his pants.
Your bra, brand new and the same shade of baby pink with red lace around the wire, his favorite color on you, came into view and he was like a puddle at your feet. You tossed the dress on your bed, allowing your hands to slide up and down your body while he watched you in silence, the only sound being soft jazz music that played through your surround-sound system. Just the thought of his eyes on you getting naked in your bedroom made wetness pool between your legs.
You sauntered back towards the camera, using your hands to lean against the desk so your breasts were pushed together. Your mind was consumed with thoughts of him, had been ever since he was roughly whisked away from you two months ago and Jesus Christ you needed him so bad. It was a fucking sin to be away from him for so long. How the hell did you survive before you met him? How did you get off without his dick?
“Is that new too? Did you buy that for me as well?” He asked, voice gruff and dangerously low.
You nodded, showing off the fabric by coming even closer to the camera. Then, you turned around again, slightly shaking your ass when you showed him the back of your panties up close. Your thumbs hooked under the band on your hips and they smacked against your skin when you let it go again.
“I can’t wait to see you in that in-person, baby. All the things I’m gonna do to you while you’re wearing it. Gonna rip it right off you.”
“Yeah?” you taunted, licking your lips while cupping your bra with both hands.
“You doubtin’ me?” he asked darkly.
“Seeing is believing, Sarge.”
“You’ll see it,” he smirked, “feel it too, when I shove my fucking cock down your throat.”
You sat back down in the chair, squeezing your legs together to stop the ache between them as you shivered. How bad you wished he would come barging into the room right then and there to make you his, how much you needed his hand around your throat while he fucked you mercilessly into the desk, the thoughts were driving you up the fucking wall. You inhaled deeply, a deep breath enough to suck in the courage for what you were about to say.
“I’m so wet for you, James.”
You could hear the sharp intake of breath through the microphone of your laptop. He remained silent for a moment, contemplating what to say. He’d never done this before, but he wanted to make you happy in any way he could. He’d do anything for you, even being thousands of miles away from you.
“Are you now?” he huffed, “guess that since I can’t be there to help you, you’re gonna have to listen to what I tell you to do. Can you do that for me, baby? Be so good for me.”
You nodded quickly, taking your index finger in your mouth and biting the skin in anticipation. He had you writhing in your chair without even touching you. You didn’t know what it was about him, but everything about him turned you on, from the way his jawline was covered in dark scruff to his metal arm, which gleamed beautifully in the artificial motel room light. Everything about him oozed masculinity.
“Show me how wet you are,” he told you, “come on angel.”
You did as told by placing both heels on either side of the desk. He could already see the wet patch in the center of your panties begin to form and this time, Bucky couldn’t help but to let out a throaty groan when memories of him fucking you harshly and relentlessly into the mattress behind you clouded his vision.
“I’ve been so lonely without you, Bucky,” you said, rubbing your fingers across your inner thighs teasingly, “It’s just not the same when I do it.”
He palmed his cock through his pants en began to rub it slowly at the sight of you; one hand moving over your clothed pussy and the other disappearing inside the cup of your bra. You adored way his dark, long hair was tied in a messy bun and wished you could reach through the screen to touch it. You wanted to kiss him, to feel his lips trailing down between your breasts, along your stomach and to the place where you needed him most.
“Take it off,” he grumbled as he undid the button and unzipped his pants, “all of it. Take it off right now.”
He didn’t have to tell you again. Your bra was on the floor in seconds, exposing your perked nipples to the cold air of your room and his wanting gaze. You wiggled out of your panties, dropping them on the ground in front of you. Then, your legs resumed their previous position, one on the left side of your laptop and the other on the right, heels clicking against the wood in anticipation.
You swore you could hear him curse underneath his breath when he caught a view of your naked pussy, glistening with slick and pretty pink contrasted by dark tan lines. He pulled his straining cock free from his boxers at last. It’s hard and thick, so fucking thick it made you want to cry out in desperation. There was no way you could’ve waited another day without at least seeing him, it was downright torture.
“So pretty, baby,” he groaned into his microphone, “touch yourself for me.”
You did as told, placing a finger on your most sensitive place, “Like this?”
You began to rub circles over your clit, finally allowing a moan to escape your lips while Bucky slowly rubbed his throbbing cock.
“Jesus, I want you to come sit on my dick,” his eyes screwed shut, “fuck you ‘til you can’t breathe.”
“Come home then,” you tease, licking your finger before placing it back on your nub, “I’ll sit on your dick all day long.”
“All day? You sure you can handle that?” He asked, eyes opening again just in time to see you plunge your middle finger inside yourself.
You were so hot, burning to the touch and your back arched involuntarily when you dipped your finger in and out of your glistening pussy, “I’ll sit on your dick and your face, Bucky. You’re my favorite seat.”
He chuckled, his grip on his cock tightening in an attempt to mimic the way you felt clenching around him. He envisioned it, your pussy over his mouth, nose pushed against your public bone as his tongue dove in and out of you. He’d grip your ass and smack it red with his metal one while groping your tits with his flesh one, drinking you up as you came in his mouth, driven to near madness from the feeling of his scruff against your most sensitive area.
You couldn’t wait for him to be with you again so he could be the one whose fingers were inside you instead of your own, ready to cave under the pressure of his muscular body on top of you.
“Fuck,” you moaned, plunging another digit in so your middle finger wouldn’t cramp up, “wish you could cum in my mouth.”
“Jesus Christ, I will,” the velvet murmur of his voice reminded you to look up at the camera instead of down at yourself, “soon as I get back to you I’ll cum wherever you want.”
You began to pump faster, rubbing your clit in smaller and more intense circles than before. You could see him do the same, increasing the speed with which he jerked himself off. His face was red and gleaming with sweat, running along his temple and down his neck. Your moans echoed through his speakers and through your room, filling his ears with a sound so delicious it nearly drove him insane.
“Cum for me, baby,” he urged, “I wanna see you make yourself cum like my good girl.”
Pleasure overtook you when his words rang in your ears on repeat, eyes screwing shut when you continued to plunge your fingers inside you at a fast pace. Your hips rolled inside the chair, desperate for as much friction as you could possibly get. It creaked under your jerky movements, but you didn’t pay it any attention when Bucky’s voice filled the room through the speakers.
You tossed your head back in bliss, pressure building so fast and deep inside of you that you knew you couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“Keep going,” he urged, “don’t you dare stop, baby.”
“James, fuck” you moaned loudly, “I’m gonna..”
Before you could finish your sentence, you were cumming so hard you saw stars clouding your vision. Your walls clenched around your fingers while you continued to rub circles over your oversensitized clit in an attempt to ride out your orgasm as long as you could. The coil of pleasure inside your lower belly finally snapped, sending sparks before your eyes and your mind blanked.
You shuddered and opened your eyes, watching Bucky stroke himself from tip to base, hair beginning to fall from the bun atop his head the more he tilted his head back.
With a harsh pant, he came all over his stomach, coating the black tactile vest in glossy white spurts of hot cum. He’d have to clean it before tomorrow because his other one had ripped when trying to climb a tree, but right now, all he could think about was how good it felt.
He fell back inside his chair, hands falling limply to his sides while he watched you remove your fingers from inside you.
“We should’ve done this two months ago,” he panted, “could’ve saved me a lot of lonely nights.”
You smiled blissfully, wiping a strand of sticky hair from your forehead.
Still, you couldn’t wait to have him with you for real.

Until Charlie Weasley decided to take the summer off from his work as a Dragon Keeper at the Romanian Reserve and come back home, to the Burrow, that is.
Notes: Gif is my own, using my art of Charlie Weasley which you can find on my art blog @artisticwarnug here. If you use please make sure you credit me and my art blog properly, that the ownership is clear as it is my own art and I would hate for it to be unclear that I made it <3 x
Prologue / Part 1
June was looking to be surprisingly warm in England and with that in mind you forwent the usual woollen jumpers of the Weasley clan and instead reached for your summer clothes that had been sat in the back of the wardrobe for many months. Pulling on a pair of denim shorts, the only pair that you’d managed to get to fit given your wide hips (unlike other denim shorts they didn’t gape at the waist much to your joy), and a vest top, before shoving your feet in your worn trainers. Running a brush through your hair you contemplated the changes you’d gone through since Hogwarts.
You were still a large woman, wide hips, soft stomach, big arms, fat rolls, a soft looking face, thick thighs. But, the self-consciousness you’d held during school was almost nonexistent. The energy you used to have was somewhat diminished, you usually had dark circles under your eyes, and a tired sort of look. Your hair was finally how you’d always wanted it, your parents no longer allowed to tell you off for cutting it this way or that or dying it this colour or the other. (Not that changing your hair was particularly hard when you had magic at your disposal). You looked older, that was certainly true, the youthful look had gone slightly and while you still looked young, you certainly looked like the adult that you were. You hadn’t grown any taller since school and for the most part you thought you looked rather the same, just with more confidence in yourself, a generous helping of trauma and heartache and a few years added on.
Returning the brush to the dresser underneath your mirror, you decided it was probably time to make your way to the little patch of vegetables and fruits that you were charged with watering.
There was something relaxing about gardening at the Burrow, it took your mind off the war that had been and instead allowed you to ground yourself. The sounds of the birds in the trees, the feel of the warm sun on your skin, the soil beneath your hands and knees. It involved a multitude of sensations which helped focus you, helped you smile, even briefly and reminded you that somethings don’t change. Despite everything the earth was still the same, the birds still sang their songs, the sun still decided to shine. While you had all changed and all been touched, some things were constant.
You watched George swing a gnome wildly as you filled a watering can, Ron was nearby being bitten by a gnome. Aguamenti came in handy, quickly filling the can. The vegetables were doing well already, despite needing a little weeding and a little watering, the plants looked healthy. You were sure that Mrs Weasley had some sort of secret trick to making them grow so well and so effortlessly.
You started weeding first, despite the warm sun bearing down on you. You found yourself wiping your brow of sweat every few minutes and your skin felt like it was covered in a thin layer of moisture. But, still you persisted. Until you heard George swear loudly. This swearing prompted a series of events which completely distracted you from your gardening. This series of events went something like this; George swore (something about Merlin’s saggy balls), you promptly looked up to make sure he hadn’t been seriously hurt to find he had just been lightly kicked in the shin by a gnome, at the sound of laughter your eyes moved from George to Charlie...and there in laid your distraction.
As has previously been said Charlie Weasley was an incredibly attractive man, but more so when he was shirtless, standing in the sun, with a large smile on his face. It was a beautiful sight. Charlie’s smile was on its own something that made you feel warm inside, like things were okay because he was smiling. But, dear merlin, were you a woman with certain feelings. Charlie was broad shouldered and beautiful, genuinely beautiful. The magical tattoos that moved across his skin of their own accord, the heavy layer of freckles. The scars that littered his body didn’t detract from the sheer beauty of Charlie, if anything it added to it.They made you more aware of just how resilient and strong Charlie was. You wondered if he could pick you up with those strong arms, what it would be like to be carried by Charlie or simply to be held by him. He looked warm and safe...and delicious. You sighed wistfully as you watched him degnome the garden, your weeding and watering long forgotten.
“You can’t be serious.” You jump with a little squeak (or rather a loud shout) as Ginny pops up right behind you and interrupts your day dreaming. George and Charlie look over at you, from your place in the dirt where you’d fallen in shock, but seemed to decide that you were okay. With a light laugh at your expense they returned to degnoming.
“Ginny!” You hiss at her, “Don’t scare me like that!” You loved the girl dearly, but she knew you were easily scared. Especially after the war. It had heightened your anxiety and hyper awareness.
“I wouldn’t have scared you if you hadn’t been drooling over my brother.” She teases, sitting down next to you in the dirt, “Besides, mum asked me to come help you...I think she noticed you were distracted.”
“Please tell me she didn’t...she’ll be insufferable.” You look towards the Burrow, worried you might see Mrs Weasley eagerly watching you.
“So you don’t want to date my brother?”
“I...I find him pleasant to look at...is all.” That was a lie and the both of you knew it. You would happily date Charlie Weasley. Not only was he physically very attractive, but he was funny and seemed kind and invested in his career. You just had reservations...after all he worked and lived in Romania and if it all went terribly wrong what would happen with your extended family? Would you no longer be able to spend time with the Weasley’s? What if he wasn’t interested and you simply made everything terribly awkward?
“You know there’s no harm in liking someone, right? It’s not going to kill you to admit you’re attracted to him.”
“It’s more than that, Ginny. It’s more complicated. There’s a million other factors to take into account. We’re not kids in school, Gin...we’re adults and we have our own lives and that’s not even taking into account that just because I think Charlie is handsome doesn’t mean he’s interested in me in the slightest!” You pick at the stones in the vegetable patch, throwing them away, just to give your hands something to do. You can feel the embarrassment rising in you at talking about this with his own sister, your friend.
“Piss off! As if he wouldn’t be!”
“Gin, this is the brother that I have been told on numerous occasions will probably remain a bachelor forever. Why would he be interested? I’m a bit of a mess...” Charlie had always been portrayed as a lone wolf, the least likely Weasley to get married, and most likely to die a bachelor. It was hard to imagine he’d suddenly take an interest in a relationship just because you were there.
“We all are. The war did a number on most of us...but you’re amazing and I know my brother. If he’s not already interested, he will be.” She bumps your shoulder with her own and for a moment she seems like the older one, the wise one...not you.
The two of you work together on the vegetable patch, talking about other things such as Harry and whether he’ll propose before Ginny does and her contract with the Holly Head Harpies. It’s nice, you think, as you take in a deep breath of fresh air before a cold wet feeling falls over you and you gasp in shock.
Your hair is dripping, you blink water away from your eyes, your clothing soaked as you look up to see a now empty bucket hovering above your head and a laughing George Weasley doubled over nearby. With a battle cry you run at your best friend and tackle him to the ground, grabbing your wand you cast aguamenti and a stream of water hits him straight in the face. It doesn’t take him long to throw you off and run away, but you watch as Ginny chases after him. Ron is watching with a gnome attached to his leg, his attempts to shake the little thing off don’t seem to be working. In all this excitement you forget that another Weasley was also present...that is until two arms wrap around your thick waist and pull you off the ground.
You barely have enough time to yell “Charlie!” Before a stream of water hits your face. You try not to laugh, lest you choke on the water, but it's hard to do so. Something about this whole situation just seems hilarious to you. Maybe it's your pitiful attempts to get free, not that you were trying especially hard, or maybe it's that it feels like it used to. Like things weren’t different. Like you were all still kids not war weary adults.
“Charlie!” You push away from him, managing to break free and immediately turn on him wand raised.
This water fight between you, Charlie, George, and Ginny, with the occasional complaint from Ron as he gets sprayed by water, continued until Mrs Weasley came out of the Burrow.
“Look at the lot of you! Inside, you best get dry and changed before you catch your death!”
You laugh lightly at the concern on Molly’s face as she ushers you all in with a tea towel in hand, most likely having been making lunch when she saw the lot of you soaked to the bone.
You look up at Charlie as he bumps your shoulder lightly and smiles down at you as he passes. You sigh lightly as he walks in front of you. It would be rather nice you think...to be Charlie’s girlfriend. Rather nice indeed.
Ginny giggles as she moves up to next to you, raising her eyebrows and smirking. You simply roll your eyes but can’t keep the smile off your face. Maybe she wasn’t wrong after all...

IM SORRY IN ADVANCE!!! It makes me feel horrible but like... 💀 for Mozart and Isaac... lowkey want Dazai but I think I’d rather die than to see his despair lmao. I hope hope youre well and take your vitamins~~
I'm (kinda) back for now!! Here ya go and sorry for the wait~
(TW; death and mentions of suicide)
☠️ How do they react when they find out their s/o is dead?
Mozart
Natural death:
The void caused by your departure is always there, lingering in his troath like the bitter aftertaste of a terrible medicine. Sometimes this tight and oppressing feeling squeezes his heart as if a sharp string constricting his whole being
The more you love someone, the more you find it difficult to move on one once they're gone. The same way, at least one part of Mozart's mind is always focused on the memory of you, your smile, your scent, the feeling of your touch. When his thoughts start overwhelming him as he's playing the piano, he suddenly changes tempo and transforms whatever he's playing into something more akin to a violent storm. Then, when he's finally relaxed a bit, the tune becomes what one would describe as a soft, light rain with a tinge of sadness underneath
Whenever he's not cooped up in the music room playing, he can be found wandering the empty halls of the mansion like a lost soul in purgatory. He's tired and his limbs feel heavy, and during the first months of his mourning he doesn't even have the force to throw his usual hard stares and harsh words at the other residents. After some time, despite his constant longing to see you, his mood improves ever so slightly, but he knows he probably won't be getting back to his tiptop shape anytime soon, not that he actually wants to. To feel happy without you by his side is almost a blasphemy to him, and this time he's not going to change his mind
Sudden death:
He will never be able to forgive himself for not protecting you. From the outside he's as pale and dull as the ashes left after a fire dies out, but underneath it all, there's a flame hotter than any star in the endless space, a raging storm of anger fueled by sorrow and utter desperation. Though he may not be as expressive, his music speaks volumes. His piano is now the only thing he focuses on, and anyone who passes by the music room can understand how well it must mirror the state of his soul. It becomes painfully clear how deeply affected he is even to Mozart himself when he nearly destroys some piano keys from hitting them with too much force. He doesn't really care, he just wants you to come back, but knowing how unlikely that is, he can do nothing but deal with his emotions in the only way he knows, through music
Once his overwhelming rage subsides, he's left with nothing but a dull ache that spreads from his heart and tightens in the coldest of embraces, the exact opposite of your warm and loving one
Ever since when you're no longer with him, no one has ever heard a happy tune coming from his piano ever again
Isaac
Natural death:
You're the first person who truly loved him, embraced him and supported him unconditionally, and after you decided to spend your entire lifetime with him, saying he feels grateful is an understatement. Of course there won't be a moment in which he won't be thinking of you nor missing you, but after the gloom and a talk with the other residents, he feels confident enough to try and face life again
This does not mean that the process is an easy one, and it takes him quite some time to get used to a life without you. He's so used to holding your hand and talking to you that sometimes he wakes up with the illusion that you'll be there to greet him. When he realizes that you're no longer there, his heart almost stops beating as tears start forming in his eyes
Sudden death:
He cannot forgive himself. Your death causes him to revert to his original hermetic state. His confidence is crushed, his heart hollow and his mind numb. He had always known he wasn't man enough to protect you, and now for his stupid mistake you had lost your life. If you hadn't met him you'd probably be somewhere happily smiling as you enjoy your life to the fullest. Though he feels guilty for doubting your love, his brain acknowledges that it's the very reason why you had to suffer so much
After uselessly pleading Comte to find a way to bring you back to life, he finally surrenders to the utter desperation that angrily whirled between the the walls of his heart. He starts neglecting his research, his job at the university, his own needs and hunger. More often than not he cries himself to a sleep haunted with nightmares and feverish visions of you. With you, a big part of him died, too, and there's no angel nor devil that can make him feel alive him anymore
Dazai
Natural death:
He had always known this day would've come, and surprisingly enough he's way calmer than what he thought he'd be. Maybe his brain hadn't yet fully realized what happened, but mostly it's because you had spent your whole life loving and protecting him from his dark and unhappy thoughts and tendencies, so now he couldn't bring himself to let your efforts be in vain.
Your positive energy has rubbed off on him, but though tries his best to smile it off, there's still a hint of desolation in his golden orbs. He's going to feel extremely lonely without you there, but he wants to try and keep up a front by focusing on the immense gratitude and love left in his heart for you. If he spent the rest of his days slumped over his tear stained pillow you'd probably feel really sad too, right? That's what he wants to believe and it pushes him to at least try pretending he's fine
Sudden death:
How could he be so blind and foolish to crave something so atrociously horrible during his life? Was this the salvation he had so much believed in? Dazai's heart fills with contempt towards life and destiny. All those times you told him life wasn't something that exists for the sake of atonement, he had believed you like a child would with their mother, but the truth was another
You, who didn't have any faults nor commit any sin, why was it you who had to pay the price for something you were not culpable of? But in his heart he knows the answer. The only mistake your pure soul could be accused of was loving him. He, who could not protect you. He, who had wasted an entire life running to reach the end as fast as possible, believing that all his wrongdoings would have been forgiven if he did so
But now what use does he have of all those worthless conjectures? Now that you are no longer there, now that he's left alone in his suffering, now he could perhaps embrace the cold end without the egotistical wish to be forgiven, but to meet you again instead

'm loving everyone venting about Molly! Thanks! And I want to ask you how you imagined the finale was gonna be? I have this whole fanfic in my head about Molly realising he had a four leaf clover stuck in his hair and upon noticing it he would give it to Yasha. Then the M9 would deal with Trent and Molly would finally know how terrible of a person the dude was. And then the M9 would introduce Molly to everyone else they met and visit every place they left better than they found it.
that's so sweet!
it's weird, because while like every other molly fan, i've had thoughts on his resurrection and a fic series i'm working on, but i'd never really... thought about the end of the campaign, or what it might be like?
(ETA this ended up so long im so sorry i have a lot to say apparently and this isn't even all of it)
my biggest and most important thing: they are a family. they belong together. maybe they'll go off on their own for a while, or stay with their families, but the nein belong together.
for fjord... he spent so long trying to be someone else, and while he's learning how to be his own person now, he deserves closure on that part of himself. he deserves a last conversation with vandren, and then to move on, to explore new places, to find new goals for himself. there is so much for him now, the open sea with so much life and promise. he buys a ship, a new ship, all his own, not one borrowed or stolen from another, and jester paints its name, decorates its quarters, makes it a home. he wrangles the nein (yes, even veth, yes, even essek) into joining him, and they set sail, all nine of them, the way it couldn't be the first time. he shows molly the ropes, teaches essek how to navigate, and watches his crew, his friends, his family, learning from him, placing so much trust in him, letting him guide them, and sees how truly happy they are to be here with him. usually, the crew is him, jester, beau, and often molly and yasha, but sometimes he will leave for a time, entrusting the boat to orly. sailing isn't all he has now, there is more to see, to do, there are things for him on land now too, but the sea will always be home to him.
for jester... she deserves her happy fairytale ending. i think for a while she stays with her family, seeing her parents happily together, finally properly introducing her boyfriend, and just spending time with her mum in a way that she didn't get to so much when she was young. and then i think she travels, just for the sake of exploring, with no defined goal other than to sow the seeds of joy and chaos everywhere she walks. and as she travels, she begins to write. stories were homes to her as a child, and they're homes even now, for someone with such a powerful imagination. she writes of her adventures, of her friends, she writes of mystical and fantastical things, half of them real. she writes and writes, words and illustrations filling so many books, she gives them to beau, to yasha, passes them off as silly little things, as though they aren't brilliant works of art. all of the nein read her stories - yasha out loud to molly as she plays with his hair, caduceus and calliope in the quiet of their garden, caleb and essek by the light of their bedside table. and in time the stories reach others, scattered journals are copied and bound into books, and one day jester wanders a quiet, nameless town, and in the window of a bookshop she's never seen, embossed on the cover of a novel, there is a brilliant green door.
for caleb... oh man, he is a teacher. that is so perfect for him, and i've been thinking about it ever since his talk with luc. i think there's something so powerful about being the person he deserved when he was younger, about stepping into that position of power and authority and being so kind with it. he's so passionate about magic, and i think it's beautiful to see him come so far - from someone burned and traumatised and so convinced he was irredeemable, to someone who can take comfort in soft things, someone who some days, almost, almost believes he can be good. i think out of everyone, except perhaps veth, he stays home the most. he still adventures with the nein of course, and if there is ever a whisper of artefacts or hidden knowledge or some expedition or other, the nein are with him in an instant to investigate it. but more often than not he is home, making the empire a better place, keeping the fire warm for them.
for veth... i want her to learn that she is enough as she is. i want her to learn that she doesn't have to choose between wife, adventurer, mother. she is all of these things. i want her to accept that her transformation was not a return to her old self but becoming someone new. i think she goes home, as she promised, and i do think she stays there for a long while, a few years perhaps, making up for lost time. and she'll pretend that she's fine with that life, with staying home, with being a wife and a mother. but that isn't all she is, and eventually, with yeza's help, with the nein's help, she will accept that. she'll no longer see it as two lives, two identities. she'll be able to kill fearsome beasts and explore strange new lands with her friends without guilt or fear, and at the end of the day she'll go home and regale her husband and son with extraordinary tales of her and her friends' heroics (that may or may not be exaggerated).
for yasha... i want her to be happy and loved. she's come SO far, from someone running from her past, drowning in guilt and so unsure of herself, to someone strong and bold. i love that ashley said she would do little odd jobs - i think she would do that, go around helping people as they explore. like most of the others, i don't think she would truly settle down. i like to imagine she does have a house somewhere - maybe inspired by the clays, she has a home somewhere green, surrounded by flowers, somewhere quiet and calm and peaceful. a little cottage maybe, for her and beau, just somewhere to return to and feel safe, somewhere she can rest. but i think most of her time would be spent travelling, seeing all the wonderful beautiful things the world has to offer, being with her friends who love her for exactly who she is, who showed her that she was someone worthy of being loved, who taught her that it's possible for her to love herself.
for caduceus... i think, for a time, he rests. he's tired. not done, far from done, but tired. i think he stays with his family at the grove, tending to all the things that are now so vibrant and alive, feeling the walls he was so sure would crumble. but after a time, he would feel that he is supposed to leave. the grove is wonderful, and will always be his home, somewhere he will always return to, and i think throughout his life - throughout the nein's life, and of course they will come to rest there, after everything - he will come home, to tend to the garden, to watch over the temple while his siblings roam. i think he travels, too, but not so much to adventure. after everything he's been through i think he deserves some peace, and quiet. he travels all the lonely winding roads, all the quiet humming spaces, sees all the life in all the hidden corners. while several members of the nein travel with him, it's yasha that walks with him the most, happy to go at his pace, eager to share in that peace and wonder.
for molly... there is so much for him now. he is no longer covered in eyes, no longer has that weight on him, even if he does hold memories of it, in darker moments. he is him but brand new, able to forge himself into whoever he wants to be, and the nein give him so much space and so much time for that. i think he stays with the clays for a little while - while the others deal with trent, yasha, so so scared to lose him again, places all her trust in caduceus to take care of him. and when they return (to find him with freshly cut hair the same colours as his coat, and a particularly proud looking clarabelle), they just spend time with him, all the time they missed and more. fjord tells him of their journey, jester showing him her journal, giving him meaning for it all, and all the time yasha holds his hand, unwilling to ever let him go. it's hard, being gone for so long, and while he is so, so (embarrassingly) proud of his friends for all that they've gone through, and how much they've grown, it's also glaringly obvious that he can't keep up. he almost has it in mind to leave - he doesn't want to hold them back, and he can't help but wonder if he's really the molly they want - it's hard to live up to a memory, after all. and there is so much he's missed. they tell him he's a moron, obviously. he is their friend, and there is nothing they won't do for friends, and waiting, staying, is such a small thing to ask. beau trains him, at his insistence - she thinks it's a joke at first, tells him that she'd be a terrible teacher, just as she was a terrible student. she's wrong, of course, and molly grows stronger by the day. he has so many adventures with them, sailing the seas on fjord's ship, sowing chaos with jester, fighting side by side with beau. there is not a single day that he isn't with his friends, yasha most of all. they are with him through everything, though good days, so many good days, and through bad ones too. molly has so much time - time the nein have given him, as he once gave to them - to live, to love, to wander, to form new memories and experiences. to be everything he never had the chance to the first time, and so much more.
for beau... she is so, so scared at first. they saved the world. they stopped trent. they've done... everything they've set out to do. what's left? what's keeping them together? when molly tries to run it reminds her so much of how she felt before, how she thought to run, to leave them before they could leave her. he returns the favour, reminds her that they are family, reminds her that she has worth, and the nein want her to stay, that they keep her, just as they kept him. (she almost believes him, and definitely doesn't cry). she does so many things - she goes home with yasha once in a while, somewhere tranquil, somewhere to study and research, she travels with caduceus, learning to appreciate a slower pace and all the quiet contemplation and companionship it can offer, she travels with fjord, his first mate, his best mate, allowing someone she trusts to take the helm and lead her on adventures. and she studies - long gone are the days of pretending to turn her nose up at books - she is one of professor widogast's best (and most irritating) students, learning magic not to weave it herself but just to understand it, just learning for the sake of learning. when she confronts her father, fjord and caleb are there as they should be - fjord to talk, to use his words and his charm to help, caleb in quiet solidarity, a hand on her shoulder, just standing with her as she tears down her mentor, her abuser, and comes out stronger for it, just as she had been there for him. finally, she can put that behind her, and she stays with the soul, as their greatest expositor (though maybe one who never does their paperwork), rooting out corruption, seeking the truth, exploring new horizons.
for essek... he spends a long time waiting for the past to catch up to him. it doesn't. it already has, in a way, if only in his own mind, the once unfamiliar guilt that weighs heavily on his shoulders. it never goes away, not entirely, but time heals, and so does the presence of the rest of the nein, always in his life, for as long as they can be. though he and caleb have different goals, they overlap so neatly, and though essek has a place in his own homeland, he spends far, far more time living with caleb. he continues with his research, caleb and beau poring over his notes, sharing his excitement and passion. he doesn't go on adventures near as much as the others, preferring to stay home, but he visits them, in all their different homes scattered across the land - jester in nicodranas, the clays at the blooming grove, veth and her family on the outskirts of zadash, beau and yasha's cottage in a little forest near felderwin. he has homes scattered across the land, so many places he is always welcome, and while guilt never entirely leaves, nor does the knowledge that one day, of course, all this will end, he finds peace.
i guess the reason i've never thought about the campaign ending is because for me.. it doesn't, not really. the mighty nein are family, chosen family. they stay together, they find homes in each other, and they leave every place better than they found it.
#yes i did this by seat position bc otherwise every single time i forget someone#though in my mind it used to be fjord beau caleb nott jester molly/cad yasha#then they MOVED#i had tokyo sunrise in my head while writing this i think that is why there is so Much#idk where jester being a writer came from i was just trying to think about what she would do for herself and it just#snapped into place i guess#anyway writing this devastated me. thank you anon#critical role#mighty nein

“Honey, I’m home,” Michael calls as he enters the house, slamming the apartment door behind him. He sounds exhausted, the usually joking tone replaced with something more monotone and sad.
“Bedroom,” Luke calls back, looking up from his laptop, blinking a few times to refocus his eyes. The clock tells him that it’s close to 9:00pm at night, which means Luke’s been home for a few hours at least and Michael’s been working late again. Luke frowns, glancing up when Michael comes into the room. He looks rumpled, shoulders sagging and rubbing his eyes with the sleeves of his hoodie. He collapses onto the bed next to Luke, sighing dramatically. He turns to look at Luke.
Michael’s been working for the video game company doing coding for just about a year now. He’s gotten a slight promotion recently, which was nice because that combined with Luke’s job at the record means they can afford the nice two bedroom apartment they live in now. It’s nice having the extra space for all their things, the guitars and Michael’s gaming computer, but it also means he’s working longer hours. Luke misses Michael, having him around for dinner and terrible reality TV. They’ve managed to craft a routine in the last few years, built around cooking dinner together each night and talking about their days. They usually go for walks afterwards if the weather is nice. They’ve been doing it more since getting Petunia too. She’d been a Christmas present for Luke, meaning that Michael had asked if Luke wanted to finally adopt a dog and Luke had dragged Michael to the local shelter. Petunia was older, a bulldog pit bull mix, sitting in one of the little areas. Michael had called her very large and fat, but all Luke cared about was that she was smushy and licked his face when he had crouched down to coo at her. She’s extremely good for cuddles and kisses at all times. Luke loves her so much, but her cuddles can’t replace Michael’s cuddles.
Luke doesn’t miss college, but he misses how easy college was sometimes. The knowledge and routine of it that Luke knew he and Michael would be done at the same time every day, that they would eat dinner at the same time, that they could text each other throughout the day. He misses that sense of balance and routine. Now, Luke has to make dinner alone and wait for Michael so he can preheat it and sit with him on the couch.
“How was your day?” Luke asks. He leans over, scratching lightly at Michael’s scalp. He sighs, closing his eyes and leaning into the touch. Luke scoots closer, let’s Michael rest his head on Luke’s thigh.
“Long. There’s some new game we’re releasing next month, so they want us to all work overtime for it. How was your day?”
“Slow. Did some sound engineering for a smaller artist, but that was it. How much overtime?”
“Uh, probably some late nights. They haven’t worked it out yet. I guess they want to see how much we’ve done versus how much is left before they sort it all out,” Michael says. Luke hums, keeps scratching at Michael’s head. Luke hates seeming co-dependent or childish, but he wishes Michael didn’t have to work so long. He misses having Michael for his nighttime routine.
“I made pasta tonight. I put the leftovers in the fridge if you want some,” Luke says. Michael hums.
“In a minute. Don’t wanna move,” Michael says. Luke keeps playing with Michael’s hair until he sighs, propping himself up to look at Luke.
“You should eat something Mikey.”
“I will just. I missed dinner again with you.”
“I’ll sit with you.”
“It’s not the same though. I missed making pasta with you, arguing with you about how much we need to make. I missed getting to sit with you and fighting over how much cheese to use. I missed drinking after dinner tea with you while we watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. I know we’re adults and shit, but I miss spending time with you. I miss making you coffee in the morning, seeing you all grumpy and tired. I miss getting to do things with you like we did in college,” Michael says. His eyes look red, like he’s trying not to cry. Luke’s heart breaks a little. Seeing Michael like this, Luke knows he’s been holding it in for a while now that he’s been feeling like this. It makes him feel better though, to know Michael feels the same way he does.
“Mikey,” Luke whispers. Michael huffs, burying his face into Luke’s thigh.
“Don’t listen to me. I’m tired and emotional. Pretend I didn’t say anything. Please just kiss me already,” Michael says.
“Oh really? Why should I?”
“Because it’s late at night and I want to live out the I Love Lucy fantasy and pretend I didn’t just bare my soul to you,” Michael says. Luke starts laughing, covering his face as he dissolves into laughter. Michael knocks Luke onto his back, tickling his sides while Luke shrieks with laughter, squirming under Michael.
Eventually, they both stop, catching their breath. Michael rolls off Luke, onto his back. Luke curls up onto his side, smiling as he stares at Michael’s profile. He likes Michael with blonde hair. He misses when he used to dye his hair crazy bright colors, misses the bright reds and blues and greens of college years, but he likes this Michael too. Michael rolls onto his side, reaching over to brush a curl out of Luke’s eyes.
“I like the curls.”
“I’ve had them for years.”
“Well, I’ve always liked them. Maybe I just want to tell my boyfriend how pretty he is,” Michael says. Luke smiles.
“Petunia and I miss you too, you know. I miss making dinner with you. I miss going for walks and holding hands. I miss listening to you yell the answers to all the shows we watch. I feel like our time every night keeps getting shorter and shorter and I don’t know. I worry that you’ll get bored of me,” Luke confesses.
“Why would I get bored of you?”
“Our schedules don’t match up. I’m always tired now and you get home late, so I’m not fun to be with. I don’t wanna go out or do anything or go anywhere. I hate clubs and I hate bars. I just wanna curl up on the couch and watch a movie and go to sleep. I just like...I’m not fun.”
“Luke, I literally love you. Like you get that right? And I hate to break it to you, but you’ve been like that since college. You used to curl up in bed with me when I played my games and you would fall asleep all the time. You talk through movies because you get too excited. You’re passionate about things. You’re comfortable to be around. I just like spending time with you.”
“You should take some vacation days when the game’s out. We can go somewhere and just exist.”
“Where would we go?”
“Doesn’t matter. As long as we’re together with Petunia I don’t care. I just want to actually spend time with you.”
“I’d like that. Getting to just hang out for a bit. Maybe we could go somewhere with a nice art museum. You like art museums.”
“I do. But you like the science ones.”
“So we do both. And get ice cream somewhere. Or chocolate. Just...I want to spend time with you again,” Michael says. Luke burrows into his side, sighing happily. Michael presses kisses to Luke’s forehead and cheeks until Luke tilts his head up for a kiss. Petunia whines at the foot of the bed until Luke sighs, detangling from Michael to lean over the edge of bed and pick her up. She settles in between the two of them, sighing dramatically. Michael giggles, rubbing behind her ears. Luke flops down next to her, sighing too, just to hear Michael laugh, eyes crinkling. Michael still has to eat and Luke has to shower and they have to get ready to do this all again, but for now, Luke’s content laying in bed with his boyfriend and his dog, happy and in love.
