I would love to hear more about why you love Dean/Lisa. I never quite got a grasp on her character's personality or how she and Dean were similar and/or different, but I did like a lot of Dean's scenes with her---and, of course, with Ben!

Ohhh I hope I can get my thoughts out in a concise way!

There’s lots of things I like about them.

There’s a pure and simple aesthetic level- They’re gorgeous together. It’s the most shallow and not my main reason, but it’s the “eye catcher”. I remember, upon rewatch, thinking that in her introductory scene if we were in the “Trickster land” show, they’d make that corny-ass effect of her opening the door and her hair flowing around and Dean being thrown back by a sudden wind because she’s just so smitten. They look good together.

Secondly, they’re up to the task of working to build something together, and that’s just exactly my thing. They care for each other deeply (although they aren’t each other’s main priority, which is perfectly okay for a mother and a guy who saves the world for a job) and want what’s good for each other. They’re tender and soft with each other (seriously all of their kisses are just so… Gentle? Almost lip-caresses? That scene of them cuddling in bed makes me melt). Lisa doesn’t try to fundamentally change who Dean is - She tries to work with it until the threat to her kid is bigger. Dean is conscientious of her life and all that it entails and tries very very hard not to let his own traumas bleed on them, and he tries to better himself. They weren’t built to work, not in that universe, not within that storyline, not thematically, but they loved each other enough to try. That scene where he goes “then ask for something” because he doesn’t know how to be loved like that (without being needed, loved purely because he is and not because he is xyx) breaks me and I think shows why they didn’t work - I think they’d be genuinely good for each other in a “right person, wrong lifetime” way, almost. I feel the need to point out here (mainly bc I feel that meaning has been lost lately) that shipping something doesn’t always mean “I wish those two were together in canon right now and think they are the only people right for each other”. For me, I ship Dean x Lisa because of their inherent tragedy, their inherent loss, their almost so’s. I tend to visualize Dean with her if I’m thinking of an AU where Mary didn’t die, for example, because I feel they would have more opportunity to turn that seed of feeling into the actual act and decision of love and relationship.

There’s also the fact I’m a Dean stan first and foremost and I think she’s fantastic for him. She cares about him. She knows him enough to know how important hunting and Sam are to him and tries for compromise (come back when you can). She is tender with him and treats him like he’s valuable and worthy and precious. She represents a lot of the things lots of Dean stans want for him - Stability and normalcy, but still with someone who knows about hunting (I have way too many thoughts about Dean and leaving hunting or not to ever articulate), someone who appreciates him and thinks he’s worth it and cherishes him and cares about his well being, a chance at a family, healthy connections (we see him with a stable job and making friends in 6x01), growth and peace. I think it’s disingenuous to say Dean was unhappy at her house because he didn’t love her or that sort of life - Sure, it could be that but we’re shown and told it’s far more likely it’s because he kept having horrible nightmares about his baby brother (whom he thought was dead at the time) jumping into a cage to be tortured for all of eternity. No one could (or should) be expected to be an instant cure-all for their partner’s trauma (especially not the sheer amount of trauma someone like him would have), but I do see Dean having a chance with her to deal with his.

It’s absolutely true we don’t know a lot about her! However, I don’t think it’s too much to infer and extrapolate (a lot like how we do with Jess, for example, drawing from context clues and details we’d have to give them for a relationship with their respective Winchester boy to work). We know she was wild and fun and enjoyed herself in her youth, we know she matured and stepped up to be a single mother, we know she raised Ben pretty well, that she’s protective of him, that she is empathetic to Dean’s plight and willing to accommodate it but that also she puts her foot down when her lines are crossed. It’s not hard to extrapolate that she’s still a fun person and we do get snapshots of her having a great sense of humor (Did you almost shoot a yorkie?). We can infer that they talk to each other and confide (She talks about Dean as “guy who saved the world” and I doubt that’s a direct phrasing from Dean so she was told at least enough to draw that conclusion, which then can lead you into thinking how hard it must have been to put Dean at ease to talk about that). We know she admires Dean and thinks he’s a great role model for her son and from that we can see that she values courage and kindness and selflessness and humor and all sorts of things Dean is. We can infer some wildness and even courage from herself just by allowing Dean into her life. Her yoga background and It’s not an encyclopedia of knowledge but I almost like that - She was never built to be a main character, she was always supposed to be a bridge Dean had to the “civilian” world that had to be burned down at last.

Captain Marvel/Billy Batson Headcanon #1, #2, and #3:

I have some Headcanons that are stuck in my head.

So I've been thinking about myths and how Superheroes are the modern myths. Like Greek Mythology. It's just that Superheroes are the new age "Gods" that people worship.

These are stories about heroic deeds and unparalleled evil. So then I start thinking about Captain Marvel and he has a lot of Gods' powers and he's their champion. And it got me thinking about a solo cap story about a modern kid or a kid from the future that becomes the champion just in a universe where our Superheroes (from DC) aren't real people and instead comic book characters, really old Comic book heroes that have been turned into myths. Maybe in this universe Superhero comics stopped being created. And so Billy Batson in this world is chosen to be the champion and the gods he gets aren't soloman, Hercules, Achilles, Zeus, Atlas, and Mercury but instead, they're DC comic book heroes.

Billy with the Strength of Superman, (some DC heroes that starts with H idk) etc etc. it's just gotta make the word Shazam. Or something. And black Adam is the big bad obv, and more and more villains are introduced or something. And we can see Billy interact with these "new gods" cause Superman is a modern day mythos and I just think it'd be cool that Superman is one of the superheroes that he has access to his power. Like a little reference to the fact that Superman inspired Capt Marvel and stuff.

Second "headcanon" I have is that Captain Marvel isn't as strong or stronger than Superman. Wait hear me out please 😭

Ik that this is basically canon in some comics but I'm more so talking about fanfic and fanon Billy. I love the idea of Billy being stronger than Supes but if we think about it a little more. I think both can work. See the gods that are Billy's patrons are based on rl myths we know. I've seen people on Twitter talk about how a lot of modern superheroes are stronger than Greek and Roman mythologies specifically. And basically how Superheros are the modern myths. The strongest thing that's ever lifted is like a mountain (someone said something about Atlas holding the heavens and how that's different or the fact that Superman held it too blh blah blah ignore Atlas) and that's because people back then don't have our modern understanding of space and FUCKING MATH. Basically people kept making stronger and stronger characters.

I also thought of this because of the most recent Captain Marvel comic the 2023 one. How Billy was arguing with the gods and how they were fighting for control of the Captain's body. How they were so desperate to make themselves known to the people of earth to show themselves off basically. To have people worship them again like they used to. I haven't finished the comic I stopped after black Adam was introduced (I need to read it again) anyways that is what I like. The gods arguing and being egotistical. The gods are mad because humanity doesn't worship them anymore and they want Billy to advertise that his patrons are the gods. The patrons are not as strong as Supes. They are ancient beings that cannot keep up with the modern era. But they're still powerful. So after Billy and his patrons have an agreement or whatever Billy agrees to talk about his patrons more often or whatever. This makes more people become more aware of the God's existence and causes a world wide talk about religion (Billy seeing the shit storm he caused: yikes... *Flies away*) and well they get more powerful. Billy becomes more powerful. So Billy gradually becomes more powerful his biggest strength is his magic. Like he's not as physically as powerful as Superman or Wonder woman but he's waayyyy more powerful than people think. Like he curb stomps like 70%-90% of the DC universe. Maybe more maybe less idk much about DC. But add magic into the mix? Yea he's stronger than like 90% of the verse. (Cause he's the champion of magic duh) And actually having Captain Marvel rely more on magic when he's subduing a mind controlled Superman would be like super epic. And then after he's reached his max strength and speed and etc. (Mercury is NOT faster than the flash in this AU yes he does not like the flash family he's jealous) We introduce GOD OF GODS CAPTAIN MARVEL!!! (can you tell I hated that they went NOWHERE WITH THAT THEY JUST STOPPED CONTINUING GOD OF GODS CAPTAIN MARVEL I'M SOOOO PISSED OFF) The old gods fucked off or something idk and REMEMBER BILLY IS THE CHAMPION OF MAGIC WITH THE POWER OF THE GODS!!! Of course he's the champion of every god that has ever existed too!!!! Human gods and alien gods. gods that have existed before and will exist in the future. Most of the more powerful gods dgaf about Billy but some care and some of them are powerful ASF. And Billy gets new patrons. Yes they are the gods from Captain Marvel GOD OF GODS I WANTED MORE OF THEM FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! And so now Billy is more powerful or as powerful as Supes and Diana.

Have Billy grow stronger and stronger gradually. I want big leaps in power too.

This leads into my other headcanon is inspired by Kingdom Come Captain Marvel/Billy Batson. That Billy is a wild card. Billy exists outside of fate. In this Headcanon fate says that a champion will be born before Black Adam's return. Fate chooses Billy, but in doing so is leaving the fate of the world in Billy's hands. Billy can control his own destiny and fate. And he can interfere with other people's fates. That's what makes him so dangerous because the moment Billy is born in the world, the universe starts to change. It starts to become crazier and more magical. It no longer follows a path. Now with every major decision that Billy makes it causes so much change. It is always important. Always makes a wave throughout the universe. The threats start to get crazier and there's a danger that's bigger than the universe expects. Something Magical.

Billy is the catalyst for this change. And if you were to write the DC world like a complete story then I'd make it so the end of the DC era ends with a Captain Marvel Antagonist. He would be the beginning and end of DC. At least in my AU. Or how I'd write Captain Marvel.

Like you're gonna give a character the title Champion of Magic, God of Gods and not have him become basically the most powerful being in existence!? BRO C'MON.

Pedro Boys - Attachment Styles

A/N: I recently learned more about attachment styles and I really love the Pedro Boys headcanons in the fandom, so I decided to make one of these myself with the help of @din-damn-djarin​ (Thank youuu!). Excuse any weird wording, I wrote this fatigued as hell.

Fictional!Javier Peña - avoidant

Homeboy has been through some shit in his love life. With the way he treats his job and sex, I‘m certain the man is avoidantly attached, if not anxious-avoidant. I think if he had any time to think about love he‘d be more anxious-avoidant, because he would have time to crave that love. But here he is with his job and his little flings. Our boy needs some therapy.

Din Djarin - anxious-secure

There is a reason almost all of us write this hunk of metal the same way in our fanfics. He is distant, trying to protect his heart and creed, until you crack him and then he is definitely more clingy. I think he leans towards being securely attached actually, but that doesn‘t surprise me, he grew up with loving parents. If anything changed his attachment style it‘s the very conditional love within his covert.

Marcus Pike - anxious

Oh boy, you‘d think this man is securely attached, but he is fast moving and that is a trait of people anxiously attached. He leans towards codependency for sure. He‘s pouring into other people‘s cups before he fills his own. I don‘t blame him, he just wants to be loved and give love, but maybe he should train his self-compassion muscle a little more. We love that man so much, because he reflects a lot of us in his attachment style imo.

Marcus Moreno - secure-(avoidant)

He has a ton of securely attached traits which is amazing for Missy growing up. Since grief is a very tricky thing he is still avoidant of relationships and if he tried dating he’d likely feel like he shouldn’t been doing it. Once he‘s got a handle on how to grieve and honor his wife while dating, he‘ll likely enter a pretty secure relationship again.

Jack Daniels - anxious-avoidant

He‘s been through hell and back. Trauma on two feet. Can be an asshole, has unhealthy coping mechanisms and a lot of shit to heal. He wants love and also pushes it away. He needs some serious therapy. This man has a high chance of ending up in a highly toxic relationship, for real, for real. His fanon version is thankfully more secure-anxious leaning.

Dave York - secure-avoidant

I mean he do be married with a kid as far as I‘m aware. Means he is securely attached for the most part. At least when it comes to romantic relationships. With what he does as a character I‘d have to say that he leans towards avoidant though. He‘s just not giving me fully secure vibes and it ain‘t because he‘s anxious.

Oberyn Martell - secure

He knows when to ask for what he needs, knows how to fulfill his own needs, doesn‘t depend on other people to love him. Man has a good concept of self-love I would say. As long as you are okay with an open polyamorous relationship, he‘s probably a good person to learn to heal with. Poster boy for honoring your truest self and executing your core values (and dying for them, RIP).

Frankie Morales - anxious-secure

He is a people-pleaser, hates being violent, has PTSD. Perfect mix for someone anxiously attached. But he also has leading qualities, knows what he wants and has boundaries that he‘s usually trying to uphold. So I‘d say he is a mix between anxious and secure when it comes to attachment. I‘m sure he did some therapy at some point, maybe he needs a little more when it comes to his most recent adventure.

Maxwell Lord - anxious

He wants to do right by his son and the people he loves. He‘s a people-pleaser and craves the same attention and love too. He feels dependent on the approval of his son and since he now knows that he has that from him unconditionally, I really hope it set a good foundation for him to heal his attachment style towards secure and go to great lengths to promote the same growth in Alistaire since he‘s at a high risk to become either avoidantly or anxiously attached.

Ezra - secure

That man has his boundaries, his interests, cares about himself, reads and is well connected to his mind. For the situations he is in, he copes pretty well, so he‘s definitely securely attached as far as I‘m concerned. I don‘t see him being anxious, avoidant is also not a word I‘d describe him with. Secure in space, who would‘ve thought?

Max Phillips - avoidant

Man can flirt for days, but doesn‘t want any commitment. His the poster boy for avoidant attachment. He likes his independency, and he likes his power. God forbid he has to be interdependent with a woman. Nah, he likes his women non-commited.

I try to anyway ^^;. A lot of times, if there’s a massive influx of them on a popular fic I get overwhelmed and forget to respond to them, or if there are really short ones, I’m not sure what to say. I’m always afraid I can only say “thank you!” or “glad you enjoyed!” before it sounds rote and insincere even though I mean it ever single time.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Off the top of my head? Easily Sanctioned Solitude, my Halo Reach fanfic from forever ago. I binge wrote it after finishing the game the first time and since it’s canon compliant (in what happens to the MC anyway), I’d say that’s my angstiest. Runners up are probably... the Sun Dies (Night Rise) verse in general and Blood of My Blood verse? Even if those have happy endings? Idk, I have a lot of fics that are heavy on angst, but I usually try to have hopeful/happy endings? Or at least bittersweet ones.

7. Do you ever write crossovers?

Sure! I like doing crossovers, they’re really fun, that and universe fusions where it’s more “two settings are actually in the same world and always have been” than a more straight laced “two separate fandoms meet” crossover.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

A few times. I’ve been blessed with nice reviewers for the most part, but I’ve gotten a little bullying, and I’ve also had someone accuse me of supporting the use of child soldiers because of something that showed up in a fic of mine, which came out of nowhere for me because- what? That’s like saying mystery writers support murder because it’s a central part of their plot. But whatever.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope. I’ve written romantic pairings and I think one or two makeouts? But never out and out smut. Have no interest in ever doing so either. 

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge, but there’s always a chance I suppose, since I have so many and people can be cruel like that.

11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope! Never officially. I’ve done a lot of back and forth with buddies on discord about ideas, but ultimately only one of us is the one who sits down and writes it out, so I don’t think that counts.

12. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

         I’m supposed to pick????? Idk, it depends on my mood and the fandom. I have a few OTPs for a fandom usually, and other times I’m flexible with who I ship. Luna/Noct is a pretty solid ship for me in FFXV, but I’ve also indulged in Luna/Nyx, so I don’t know if I can call either my OTP. Fairy Tail my OTP is absolutely Jellal/Erza, though there are several other ships that I suppose count, because I would literally never ship either member in the pair with anyone else.

13. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

...Depends on if you count by posted or just in general??? First fic I ever posted was for Pokemon.

14. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

Okay that’s. Complicated. My favorite fic I’ve ever written is one I’ve never posted, but it’s my favorite because it’s what really got me into writing and into enjoying making stories. But if we count posted fics, then my top five are probably...

1. My FFXV triad of Nox, Deleantur, and Everything Ends. I count them in a bundle, because originally it was just Everything Ends, but then as I expanded that one’s headcanons, Deleantur and Nox were formed and split off from it at roughly the same time, so they all very much have similar themes and a similar “core” for where their angst comes from.

2. A Melody of Second Chances. ngl this fic will likely never be finished, but not from lack of trying. But you don’t spend 6+ years writing a fic if you don’t love it enough to cry over it in frustration. So.

3. Blood of My Blood verse. I had the basic concept for this almost as soon as I finished the game, but at the time I thought posting something so off the wall would get me flamed. Took a lot of nerve to post it after I did finally write it, and the reception of it always makes my week.

4. Amongst Untrodden Ways. There are other fics I’m currently writing that I’m more enthusiastic about atm, but I learned a lot writing this fic. I did with AMOSC as well, but with the Fairy Tail fandom, I felt more comfortable in expanding on my own world building instead of mix-matching fanon and canon I’d seen before. That and Wren is such a fun and unique character for me, since she is mute and has to find alternate ways of speaking. That, and I get to focus on the Raijinshu, who are some of my favorite side characters (not counting Jellal of course). How can I not add it to my top 5?

5. Worlds Unseen (Calling You and Me). This fic *still* does not get the attention I want it to, even though I understand why. It’s such a weird crossover, but I’m so proud of how I mix up the chapters and try to align the story beats.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

lmao yeah. It’s petty, but honestly, people’s personal morals really bleed through into their fandom opinions, and I’m not willing to put up with any unnecessary hate, especially in environments that are supposed to be fun. I’ve even blocked a few people. In the ppg fandom specifically, I’ve blocked a person who, I guess, thought it was necessary to try to gate-keep with racist/sexist/etc. terminology and ideologies, and I truly don’t have time for that 🤷‍♀️ (a lot of people probs know who I’m vaguing, but if you don’t, you’re lucky)

I can’t say I’ve ever unfollowed anyone for any innocent/not-in-conflict-with-my-morals fandom opinions. Usually, if I don’t agree with something, I just keep scrolling because lol whatever. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.

but ngl I have unfollowed people who just get annoying 😬😬 lol

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?*

I went into this fandom without having too many preferences, so I didn’t have a pairing that I’ve previously hated!

I guess I could say that while I never really hated them, the color-mixing and color-clashing ships weren’t ever on my radar until I came across the fandom content. Now, I really like them! Particularly, Brick and Bubbles!

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

Before anyone gets pissed off at me, before you get into my answer for this question, I’d like to really stress that you’ve got to go into it with absolutely zero fanon context. Like, erase all your headcanons from your mind. I’m dead serious. Because I literally DO NOT get why ANY rrbxppg ship would realistically work ever.

Okay, canonically, these six little funky science experiments were dead set on ending each other. The boys were absolutely horrible to the girls. And the girls literally KILL the boys. I know in fairytale romances, nothing stops love, but bruh, it’s hard to come back from murder 😂 And yeah, I know Clipsville showed the girls and the boys together as older teenagers, and they weren’t trying to kill each other, but that was an obvious gag. In the documentary, it was revealed that that particular “clip” was made because a bunch of people wanted the boys and girls to interact again, and CN gave into the demand. (also, lol I know it super embarrassing, but I did watch the documentary. I just really like Craig McCracken) I just don’t think that realistically a canon pairing between the two sets of triplets would ever be considered a healthy relationship. 

Also, ethically, I just—okay listen, I go back and forth with this allllll the time, but the ppgxrrb ships make me confront the “Would I sleep with my clone?” question way too often. Depending on my self-esteem, the answer changes each time. Like sometimes I’m like fuck yeah I would! Other times I’m like, ew, no, I’d have to consider my clone as a twin! I know counterparts aren’t technically clones, BUT the boys really do come across as identical to the girls in the show. The only difference really is their moral alignment (I’m nixing any gender argument). So, I’m like, omg, can I honestly pair these six together in any way??? Are they too close to each other genetically in some sense for this to be morally right??? Like if you ship Brick and Buttercup together, would that just essentially be shipping Brick and Butch/Blossom and Buttercup together in some messed up way??? Is Brick just Blossom, and Blossom just Brick?? Is it better just to ship color-matching instead of mixing???  

On top of all of that, wouldn’t the boys and girls be pseudo cousins since Mojo was the Professor’s lab monkey? Technically, in canon, Mojo ends up being both sets of triplets “creator,” so could the rrb and the ppg be considered siblings of some sort? Some of you are probably like, wow, calm down. Stop thinking about it. They’re science experiments. It’s not so deep. Which I get, but I can’t stop, so let me hit you with something ten times worse: should the girls (or the boys) actually be considered biological siblings? Does sugar, spice, and everything nice make you genetically related? Nothing put in the stirring pot was organic—just a bunch of chemicals. If you ship the boys and girls together this could be a good thing! BUT, but, could some sick fuck use this information to somehow justify shipping siblings (ppgxppg or rrbxrrb) together??? This is a literal nightmare to think about!!

All in all, I can’t think about these pairings too much without getting caught up in the logistics of their existence even if they’re fictional lmaoooo! If it wasn’t for the fandom, I wouldn’t ship them together at all. I just think it’s amazing that the ships took off like they did lol, because their literal (fictional) existence is just one giant mind fuck for me. Anyway, I ship them at the end of the day, but tbh I do it with a bit of a guilty conscience. Is it morally correct to ship clone-like counterparts? Or should counterparts be treated like twins? Does it even fucking matter at the end of the day, it’s just fiction? I don’t know the right answer. But I do know the pairings don’t make sense. 

Aside from the ppgxrrb, I don’t think there are many other BIG fandom wide pairings. Still, I just want to say that I don’t get why people ship Ace and Buttercup together. The pairing sounds off a few major alarms in my head for obvious reasons. There’s also a bunch of crack ships that involve crossovers with other cartoons. Generally, I don’t mind them, but it seems popular to ship Aku (from Samurai Jack) and Blossom together. And I’m real sorry to those devoted shippers, but again I do NOT get it. I see a lot of romantic fan art depicting romantic situations with Blossom still drawn as a child, and like I get Aku is an immortal demon, so “age is just a number,” but again, BIG ALARMS go off in my head.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*

🙃 🙃 Kind of don’t want to answer this, but I will anyway because only a few people actually read my blog lolol, so lol, yep! And it’s the reds. Don’t shoot me lol. When I was in middle school, I got into this fandom, forgot about it, and then came back when I was hit by a round of nostalgia. I’m finishing up college now, and I can confidentially say that the fanon content for the reds hasn’t changed one bit. Or the demand for it.

I tended to find that a lot of red content follows many archetypes that I’m just not into. Their stories can get a real cringey, real fast. Blossom is always written like this “perfect, except she’s not (but she really is)” character. Like she’s the girl you WISH you could be, but she’s also going through a shit ton of stuff that no person IRL would be able to handle without having a mental breakdown. And sometimes, in some stories, Blossom does have a mental breakdown, but in a sexy way, so she’s still perfect. Generally, there’s still something problematic about Blossom that makes it easy for a reader to relate to her on some level, unlike the way people write Bubbles. And then there’s Brick, who’s broody, hyper-possessive or jealous, and hot figuratively and literally (gotta love the fire/ice trope). He’s the only boy—no! Wait!—the only person who could ever possibly outwit Blossom, and he is just so undeniably attracted to Blossom. They’re the smart power couple that should honestly just hook-up in Chapter One to save everybody time, but they don’t. Nah, they’ve got to survive at least two love triangles before they even consider admitting they’re attracted to each other.  

And don’t get me wrong, none of that’s bad, but there are a million fanfics that go through the same song and dance with these two. And it’s kind of easy to tell when someone’s hardcore projecting onto Blossom because the type of person they’re personally attracted to is the way they write Brick. And I’m not knocking anyone self-projecting onto characters, sometimes people got to do that to give themselves a fun mental break, but bro, I don’t want to read about it. For one, smart broody assholes aren’t my type. Maybe when I was in middle school, but not anymore. And two, it’s just not interesting to me, which is a real shame since the reds are a majority of the fanon content.

Maybe if I found more red stories where the plot isn’t character-driven but plot-driven, so I see the romance between these two characters in a context where it’s not the main focus of the story, it would solve my issue with the pairing. I haven’t found many fics like that, though.

I can’t really think of any reds fic where I’m like ey, this aint bad unless it has a “major character death” tag attached to it lmao (which are always plot driven stories). However, in all honesty, since I’ve stayed away from red content for a while now, I don’t know the current state of things. Maybe there’s been a load more development for these two, or people have broken away from the same plotlines, but I’m too busy to check. I do browse people’s fic rec lists from time to time, but it sort of feels like everyone just puts the same fics on their lists and moves on.

And before someone’s like, “well, you can say all this about the greens or the blues,” just know I’m fully aware. The greens make me cringe too because there’s a shit ton of possessive and abusive storylines filling their story tags. And what makes me super uncomfortable is how people make Buttercup hit Butch or call him derogatory names, oftentimes unprompted. I don’t know why people make Buttercup such an unlikeable and overly aggressive person. I also don’t get why they make Butch some perverted idiot, but to each their own, I guess? Still, I see these green-character patterns most often in red-focused stories, which is another reason why I avoid them. I’ve found a lot of green-focused content that strays from the abusive tropes I try to avoid. Considerably less than I’d like, but the greens are typically the b-plot pairing, so that’s to be expected. Personally, I’d really like to see more content with the greens finding some kind of inner peace, and recently, I’ve seen a few fics that have tried to tackle this concept.

And lol, if you’ve read some of my posts before, you already know that I think the blues are an underdeveloped fanon pairing. The fandom can’t ruin that pairing for me because it never does anything substantial with it.  

Anyway, at the end of the day, I’m just personally not into the way the reds are popularly written, but I get why people are and that’s good with me.

national hot dad alliance is now calling...

the very first Haikyuu!! fanfic I ever read that actually got me into the series! I read this before every watching the anime or reading the manga and I distinctly remember having to google characters appearances constantly jdsjlaakl. 

despite not having any clue who any of these characters were I still really enjoyed it and rereading it only made it better. this is one of those fics that you just can’t help but reread over and over again tbh 

I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who really enjoys captain shenanigans!! it also has good queerplatonic relationship rep which I can always get behind

yes it’s another chatfic I’m sorry,,, this is another fic that I reread a lot whenever I’m in the mood for some shenanigans.

this one def plays itself less seriously than national hot dad alliance but still has it’s moments where it pulls back from some of it’s more crack-like attributes

I’d reccomend to anyone who likes more chaotic fanfics that can still get serious or just people that think the second gen captains are neat. there’s two poly relationships in it which I, a polyamorous person, always appreciate!

I’m p sure you’re all aware of how much I adore Tsutomu and the other STZ boys and they’re all written so well in this fic. very rarely do I ever find them to be OOC wish is really nice since plenty of people mischaracterize them in fics

this fic!! this fic holy shit!!! this fic has inspired so many of my own trans headcanons!!!! it’s incredibly wholesome at times yet isn’t scared to show the downsides of being a transitioning teen

if you’re going to read it then I do have to warn you that some characters can be OOC however it’s normally very minor or as a result of personal development. Tsutomu’s also a major supporting character which I love to see always and has very cute relationships with the other characters. other major(ish) supporting characters are Yaku and Kyoutani with plenty of cameos

this is a fic that I’d recommend to people who like or create content with copious amounts of trans headcanons because that’s what this fic’s entire basis is. it’s got a fairly large variety in gender and sexuality headcanons and portrays them very respectfully

Ace

crossover fics done well are always so much fun to read and I think this fic def falls into that category! I’ve seen a few fics with Lev and Alisa being related to Victor from yoi but this is probs my fave

I’ve never seen yoi so I can’t say much about the characterization of those characters but I really like how the Haiba siblings and Nekoma are written! I find them to be very in character and enjoyable to read 

I’d recommend this fic to Haiba and Nekoma stans since they’re the main focus of this fic but I do need to put a disclaimer that it’s an unfinished fic

a really good kyouhaba fic that mainly deals with Kyoutani coming to terms with his sexuality and his attraction to Yahaba. I don’t always like how people portray Kyoutani but I feel like this fic does a very good job with his character!

there’s repeated cameos from other aobajousai members and Tanaka, Yamamoto, and Misaki are all pretty important characters in this fic. this fic also addresses how different people handle coming out to both friends and family

this is a fic I’d recommend to people with exquisite taste who ship kyouhaba and who just want the best for both of them! 

Mistakes and Misunderstandings

I really like this fic and how it deals with the relationship between Semi and Shirabu and their own differences in personality! it also touches on how them having a strained relationship affects their teammates and how the other members try to help them work it out

I like this fic especially because it shows how their own inner thoughts differ so greatly and presents a realistic way for them to learn to communicate with each other. it doesn’t just try to play the tsundere card and instead gives both characters good characterization and reasoning as to why they find it hard to just say what they mean

I’d recommend this fic to other STZ stans or to people who enjoy well written gen fics!!

I haven’t reread the Hinata POV chapters since the first time I read the fic but I’ve read the Kageyama chapters over a few times and really enjoy the characterization of both Kageyama and the other STZ members. the way Oikawa is written in this fic feels fairly truthful to canon and none of the other aobajousai members are very OOC. out of the STZ members Semi in particular is written in a way I rarely see for him which is always refreshing

I'm not sure if you've been asked this, but when I read fanfics that include Hanji and Nanaba, they are always described as best friends. I even read it in your fics too (which I love, btw). Do you think they are the same canon-wise? Do you think they confide in each other like besties and hang out together? Me, personally, I can't see that bc of their different ranks and if I'm not mistaken, they don't interact in the manga? So, it's hard for me to buy that headcanon.

I feel like I’ve been asked something similar to this...butsince I don’t remember exactly and certainly wouldn’t be able to find it atthis point, I’ll be happy to answer your question!

The short answer is: no, I don’t think they’re best friends.

The long answer is much more complicated. 

I used it in a lot of my ‘fics because it was convenient. Bythe time I joined the fandom it was already fanon—the sole reason being thatHange and Nanaba were the only potential/named female vets of 5+ years. It wasa fanon that people found enjoyable and easy to absorb and I stuck with itbecause, well, no use in going outside the box. Nobody could ever remember whoLynne was and making up a female character to act as her BFF just…seemed stupidwhen there was already a large cast of characters to pick from.

This fanon was widespread. I mean, even when I was RPing Nanaba,Hanges would approach me to write close friendships & “girltalk.” It was never something I really believed in so much as somethingthat had been proven to work tolerably well with the fandom/readerbase, so Istuck with it for simplicity’s sake.

(To be honest with you, Anon, after having people think myGelgar RP account was an OC, I just thought it’d be easier to get readers forworks where the “best friend” was a character that the readerbase already knewand was familiar with.)

But the truth is this: I don’t actually think Nanaba is veryclose to Hange in the canon. Now that S2 has aired I’ll pare back on theirinteractions in fanfiction, should I choose to write more. (I’m working on alongfic, so…probably.)

Anyway, I don’t think it’s an issue of rank that keeps Nanabaand Hange from being close. In all the smartpass content Nanaba is hangingaround Mike, Erwin, and Levi, all people who outrank her—yet she speaks heropinions and ideas freely, which leads us to believe she’s comfortable aroundthem. In the “shelter from the rain” story where Hange and Nanaba interact, Ithink there’s something to be said for the way their interaction is written. Nanaba gives Hange a bit of a pep talk; there’s some give-and-take. She tries to get Hange to cheer up because Hange might worry those under her command, but Hange is a bit focused on the idea that she became a squad leader due to the deaths of others; that she achieved her rank thanks to the deaths of her comrades--a bit of a morbid way of viewing things, but not entirely unreasonable.

At the end of the scene, Nanaba considers what Hange has said and thinks this:

“I need to get a grip. As a survivor, I need to prove to those that have died that they didn’t die in vain and that I’m not a waste of space.”

A waste of space? This is grim; this is dark. This went against the forward, confident characterization for Nanaba that had somehow fallen on the fandom in the first place. But this story actually fits in well with what we got of her in the anime, as awful as that is. Nanaba isn’t terribly different from Hange; she in fact rushes to help Hange dry off and seeks to bolster her spirits when she’s down. She wants to be helpful and positive! But I can’t help but feel there’s a fundamental aspect of “friendship” that is missing from their relationship as we see it in that scene. If anything, I’d say they are probably closer to being just reliable work friends--to a high degree, though, considering how many people have lived in the military as long as Nanaba and Hange have. (I headcanon quite a few years (10+) but that’s just me.)

I think Hange’s closest friend is Levi. And then I think Erwin comes next on her personal list. I don’t actually believe she’s close to anybody else; I don’t even think she’s close to Moblit, though I do believe she relies on him a helluva lot.

As far as Nanaba goes, I see her as being fairly close to Gelgar in a “buddy-old-pal” kind of a way. I headcanon that they were in training together...and aren’t incredibly close but kind of Get each other. (For the record, I don’t think she actually confides in Gelgar or vice-versa, but I do think all their years together, including training, have forged a fairly close bond.) 

I actually see Nanaba as being closest to Mike; I usually don’t want to pick someone’s “closest friend” by default to always be their romantic interest (especially when it feels like it’s also their only friend), but I feel that Nanaba is a person who is extremely slow to trust others. Mike, being Very Perceptive & in a position of authority, is just about the only person in the canon who can confront her about her issues safely. I don’t want to get into the mixed bag that this is at this moment (though feel free to ask for elaboration if you’re interested), but I do feel that in the end Mike is the only person she is capable of growing to trust 100% in the canon.

If Nanaba has a close female friend, by the way, I like to imagine it’s Lynne just because it’s convenient and I think Lynne’s more positive personality is a good foil for, I don’t know, the fact that Nanaba wants to prove to others that she’s not a waste of space. I always have seen Lynne as being a warmer personality when her pals need some support, so I just love the idea that they’re roommates and close enough that Nanaba feels comfortable talking to her about her work-related feelings and issues...

YOU BET YOUR ASS THAT'S WHY. Woman not only had to essentially deal with grown ass men who acted like babies, but she has her own little one too. She's been mothering these jerks since the Omnic War, and it DEFINITELY helped her with Fareeha in those early days (and later raising Fareeha helped her with the boys) SO YUP.

Yeah Gabe needs some TLC. Also have I mentioned Ana is badass?

For Gabe Reaper isn't so much as a split personality as more Gabe is disassociating hardcore. I'm not really 100% knowledgeable on the psychology behind split personalities, but from what I understand alters tend to be born when a person is young. While there is a chance that Reaper MIGHT (and I'm stressing this, mostly due to bits and pieces that have cropped up in Salt and Sugar so far) be a potential alter for Gabriel, it's far more likely that it's Gabriel disassociating and hiding his actions behind another 'identity' so to speak.

I know disassociation. I...tend to do that myself sometimes. Especially when things get overwhelming. One of my longstanding, unhelpful coping mechanisms that was a precursor to severe disassociation on my part was to imagine myself in a padded room incapable of feeling anything when I got overwhelmed with my own emotions.

What Gabriel has done here is similar, because the best I can do is draw upon my own experiences with my own mental health, or what I've learned in exploring my own mental health about other disabilities and issues.

I actually have a lot of headcanons about Gabriel/Reaper as a whole beyond SEP. Same with Jack.

Personally I think Jack's a self-entitled asshole and Reaper/Gabriel is a murderous, bitter, in need of some major anger management fuckwad. I honestly don't have high opinions on EITHER character despite that I love them so. My headcanons are more there to align their current selves in Overwatch canon with presumed fanon in regards to background, and unreliable narrative in regards to their relationship provided in canon from media sources.

I say unreliable narrative because most of what we know about Switzerland and the whole HQ blowing up IS ONLY from media in canon, and we all know what media is honestly like...at least in america. I know there are some laws that control what is written elsewhere, but there is enough to media that makes me distrust about 85% of what it says, and consider it to be a source of "unreliable narrative" overall.

For headcanons into Reaper I have to saw I've taken a lot of inspiration from other fanfics. There's one that's a "five times Sombra hacked Reaper" story that is where I draw in the whole Sombra can hack nanites involved in a person idea, alongside the Sombra "quieting" the world for Reaper that's mentioned. It's a good, cute read. Found it on AO3, can't remember the name of it for the life of me.

Another was a time travel story -- resurrection tech that Overwatch had broke down, so Winston made a time travel device based upon the chronal accelerator. Jack was to go back and steal documents from the HQ before it exploded. Reaper ended up being sent in to kick the OW agent out and steal the information himself. It turned into a huge mess, Jack and Reaper were forced to work together, Jack essentially committed suicide and fucked up the timeline. It was a break-it, fix-it story that was beautiful as it was painful. I got my ideas on Talon and brainwashing/reconditioning there. I definitely headcanon that Talon had something to do with Reaper's revival. Also that Talon had something to do with Overwatch's destruction, and the introduction of the Petras act. A lot of 'Talon's fingers in different pies' deal I'm pulling from Sombra's "Conspiracy Theory" that has that one central controlling factor. We have no idea who or what that is (it looks like an eye to me, which...has worrying implications) but we can see the branches off of it in her introduction and how they're controlling shit.

Including, it seems implied, Reaper.

I also like the idea of body-horror/monster Reaper. That sometimes his face forgets its a face, or sometimes he gets extra limbs (another good fix-it story has literal extra limbs and explains the odd back brace thing as a way to help hold him together--again I can't for the life of me remember the name--I might be able to find it on my subscriptions on AO3 though if given time) and the whole he has to eat souls to fix himself up came from that place too....

A lot of my headcanon are mixes of information we've gotten, theorizing, and seeing some brilliant fucking stories to pull inspiration from. Or people dropping some "LOOK AT THIS" stuff on me.

I will say this: there is definitely something up with Reaper and being dead/revived as a thing. You look at the exposed part of his arms and he's ash colored, not dark like he looks as Gabriel Reyes. I have a few things working for that too, especially in regards to headcanons post Switzerland (damage caused by the explosion, portions of him that might've been completely lost and had to be rebuilt from nanites, etc)

I have ideas and theories behind is powers and how he's Reaper now, too, but those theories shift a little between Salt and Sugar (a strictly non-magical story) and Wanted (where HP elements can mix things up and make them work!)

The basic deal is it'd take me forever to write down all of my headcanons, especially in regards to Gabriel (or even 76, the Shimada's, Jesse....) but I'd be happy to toss out some headcanon posts on them when I can get my thoughts organized enough (keep bothering me about it; that'll remind me I said I'd do this XD)

For the basics though:

Switzerland DID kill Gabriel Reyes. and he WAS revived (Mercy, Talon, some combination thereof) Gabriel Reyes came back WRONG (his nanites didn't take right, the SEP injections fucked shit up in the resurrection process, too much of him was lost etc) Reaper is a mix of severe disassociation of self and brainwashing/reconditioning (Talon, PTSD effects, revival problems, unable to handle how fucked up his life currently is) Reaper is roughly 75-85% nanites now that shifts shape way too easily Reaper runs with too many eyes/teeth/limbs to completely losing shape when emotions are extremely high Sombra helps provide "maintenance" He's got long hair and an undercut (because I FUCKING LOVE UNDERCUTS guh; also see long haired gabe fanart fuuuuuuck me up) Reaper's right side is the side most fucked up / damaged from the explosion and tends not to recover even when he's properly "fed" himself Reaper IS blind in one eye (his right)

I feel a little awkward about people proclaiming Dean slamming Cas into a wall romantic, no matter the provocation or the fact that Cas is an angel. Violence is NOT romantic. Dean packing an angel blade because he's angry is horrifying. Cas letting Dean do this to him because he "deserves" punishment? My god, does noone understand what this sound like? This is shit Dean needs to work on, like the anger issues and verbal abuse issues, not something to be romanticised.

Yeah, it’s not great, but I feel like the show actually thinking about how violent it is last of anything it ever might address, so what can you do except write a disclaimer every time you end up discussing it that you don’t approve, and if you’re discussing it (or, especially the crypt scenes which had a ton more problematic tropes if you take away the mind control and magic) that you’re looking at basically everything but the violence as a point of interest and it’s an unfortunate way it meant the show put such and such a line in or whatever >.> 

I think a lot of the excitement is the tension and physical closeness (which helps that we know the actors are doing it and that there’s no real threat there and a lot of people would be perfectly happy just that Jensen and Misha did a wall slamming scene and that’s what they enjoy when they reblog gifs of it)… I don’t think there’s anything romantic about what Dean did - it’s not even like the crypt scenes which use a power of love made them stop thing which is really problematic when you take away that only because it’s fictional and they were ACTUALLY mind controlled and not responsible for their actions that that’s even half not the worst thing ever to do… It’s just Dean went to go fight Cas because he was pissed off and technically they do fight a lot of things that are causing harm and Cas going rogue to them is still a possibility they might not like to think about but 6x20 still probably haunts Dean of what exactly sort of cosmic force of nature is he giving mixtapes too anyway and how very very bad is it that it ends up being the antagonist like, almost every other year of their lives even while also being their BFF, which just makes things confusing. 

Dean starts referring to Cas’s feathery ass again which is something he does when pissed at him - Cas is all human and cute when he’s harmless and Dean’s worried or affectionate. But when Dean is pissed off Cas suddenly is an angel again in his language, and at times especially earlier on he used the same language about Cas he would use interchangeably about someone like, say, Uriel, who he hated and picked on all the things like “junkless” and so on… Dean getting like that is him remembering that Cas is not human, and could be as unpredictable and dangerous and taking inhuman approaches to things, that it’s not safe to think of him as a nerdy little guy, but to remember what they’re really dealing with, and as hunters, that means something that is potentially dangerous enough to hunt, and also it’s personally how he’s hurt Dean… 

For what it’s worth I think Dean was making a pretty horrifying display packing the angel blade, but when it came down to it, no matter how betrayed he feels he wouldn’t use it on Cas - he didn’t want to kill him in 6x20 or after - when Sam stabs Cas in 6x22 Dean actually mouths “No!” even though all logic would say Sam did the right thing there.

But I would bet though that people are kind of using a difference between “romantic” and “romanticising” like they don’t think there’s any romantic gesture or point to it like this is a way Dean shows he loves Cas (even with his anger born of worry born of love issues which is a whole other thing I was talking about earlier today at great length so I won’t go into it) but they are enjoying the shoving around - again, because it’s a lot more fun and safe when it’s actors doing it and when you take it out of context it might be fun wall slamming…

although side note about fanfic etc, I utterly can’t stand Cas in “fun” wall slamming situations etc where he’s the slam-ee, precisely because he makes that face like he thinks he deserves it and is just going to take whatever happens to him when it happens in canon and that’s depressing and horrible and I can’t un-see it ever… Cas getting passive and self-defeating in pretty much any fight with anyone drains any fun out of the idea he’d enjoy it playing around… It makes me feel sick and sad and horrified on his behalf because of how he reacts and I can never get past that exact thing, even with totally fanon AU Cas, with none of this baggage, because I just see him making those sad defeated faces… Not that the reverse of this scene in 5x18 is any better for saying anything about Dean, but in less high-tension situations like when he’s being manhandled by cops he only feels lightly threatened/mostly amused by, he seems to have a lot more fun with it :P Using 5x18 to say anything about Dean is just as unrepresentative, even if he DOES have a ton of fun wall slamming history, just not with Cas, like that. There’s plenty of other stuff in canon about how submissive Dean is without needing that gif… Like where he just admits he wants to be slapped around in bed or wants sexy rules or whatever. He doesn’t make it difficult to headcanon and he’s talking about wanting fun consensual sex in those moments :P I don’t think Cas has anything like it on his side (if anything he was compared to the pizza man who did the spanking >.>) and so anything where Cas is shoved around or gets that despairing passive look in his eyes I just can’t ever see him enjoying messing around getting in a similar headspace for fun, so I personally really don’t get anyone enjoying that side of it because Cas is in such a depressing place with this in the show >.> Idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not because at least in my experience of just following meta blogs and seeing fic recs etc second, it seems like a favoured dynamic anyway. About the gifs of these scenes and fanon though - I know a lot of people have fun with it out of context (e.g. “what if it was Cas shoving Dean against a wall because they were about to have sex”) and it just kinda looks bad without disclaimers which people might think were obvious they’re enjoying out of context because if they WERE asked they’d immediately say well duh the scenes were bad in context but that’s not what we’re enjoying here, or they actually have an interest in the whump factor of them getting beat up, but that’s something entirely out of my ability to talk about at this point, because I’m depressingly vanilla and boring about it all :P

Aaaanyway idk I’m not the best person to talk to about this because I don’t have a great deal of IRL experience to draw on for sensitivity about how to handle this except to say, obviously threatening to kill and shoving around your friends is not a good way to show love, and I also take that fact for granted when talking about it (so apologies if you were directing any of this message at me because it only occurred to me now, that you might not have been talking about the fandom in general, because I have been taking for granted that anything I say about this, I’m making a fairly horrified face about things like Dean packing an angel blade to meet Cas or shoving him around and I’d ASSUME that’s the normal reaction, except apparently people are romanticising it so NOT saying anything is playing into a bigger problem? Idk. >.>)

I haven’t really been on  my dash much since the episode so I don’t know how everyone’s really reacting, but I wonder how much of the discussion is also running away with ideas relating to these scenes, while taking for granted the main details are pretty crappy and it shouldn’t be treated as romantic per say, but come across wrong for not putting a disclaimer. The crypt scene discourse after 10x22 made me really hyper aware of that and how people who were most critical of or affected by this behaviour were seeing so much more of people supposedly romanticising it even though these people were just really not taking care to say of course they weren’t and to pick their language more carefully and not get over excited about meta textual reasons to reblog the gifs and so on, and I remember that it sort of came with a lot of snide hater anon messages to some blogs that this is why people hate Destiel/Destiel shippers because of all the romanticising abuse, it’s a horrible ship, etc etc, and even people who’d been really upset by that scene who then moved on to talk about other stuff aside from how Cas got attacked, were in danger of having this accusation about stuff they said… I don’t know. Fandom is a difficult space to navigate, and there are toxic sides to it, and people enjoying things in ways which other people might think they shouldn’t, when it’s not really their place to say HOW they enjoy it, but it’s all such a mix eventually wires cross… it makes me hesitant to go around saying everyone’s doing such and such romanticising a thing because it tends to be more complicated and weird and maybe there’s not such a great pool of people uncritically doing the thing that everyone is being accused of in a blanket statement. I’m now thinking I’ve said at least 2 of the things you mentioned, but I meant them in the way that I was horrified by what I saw and thought it would be obvious this was my reaction, but at this point I wonder how clear it was, and also how dangerous is it to ever open your mouth in a fandom space >.>

Minievent Day 1: How do you think nijiaka would spend their holidays?

THEY WOULD SPEND IT IN MANY WAYS!

For one, they really like hot springs, so going to an onsen is one their favourite holiday activity. They also go hiking in the countryside! Another way they spend their holidays is (of course!) visiting different countries. Other times they visit Nijimura’s family and spend a few days at their place... or even go out together with the whole family. AND THEN AT OTHER TIMES they just relax at home...

Really, I can imagine many ways of them spending their precious holidays. :’)

Minievent Day 3: What are your favorite nijiaka moments in fanon? Tell us about that scene from a fanfic/fanart you can’t stop thinking about!

But to make it simple, let’s talk about something recent; since I screamed about it with a friend yesterday (and it still occupies my mind a lot), I cannot stop thinking about Nijimura working in a butler café and Akashi who only goes there to try to get closer to Nijimura. :’) (The fic is called Malcontent by cimberelly.)

Minievent Day 4: How do you think other characters would perceive nijiaka? How would they react to their relationship?

Oh dear goodness. Where to even start? :’)

Midorima would be all stiff about them at first, but in his heart he would be happy. Aomine would be like “GET A ROOM!“ while Kise would be (overly) excited (after the first shock) and openly happy for them. Murasakibara wouldn’t have much of a reaction, but he would be happy for them. Kuroko, well... he already saw what was happening between them, so he was all casual congratulating when Nijimura and Akashi finally got together. :’3

As for the Rakuzan team... Nebuya would be simply disinterested I think? Hayama wouldn’t really mind it either. Reo though. Oh, sweet Reo, he would mind. He would have very mixed feelings about it because he is happy for Akashi but he would be also jealous. As for Mayu, he would be full of sardonic comments, or he would laugh himself to death. :’) Pretty much depending on the situation.

But honestly, everyone would be happy for them, I tell you.

Minievent Day 5: Nijiaka after Teikou! What happened after Nijimura moved to LA? Share your headcanons!

NIJIMURA AND AKASHI KEPT IN TOUCH. THEY ABSOLUTELY DID. They had lots of skype/LINE dates.

I like to think that Akashi was the one to first initiate contact, though Nijimura was not far behind. :’) They both care about each other, and they wanted to make sure how is the other doing.

When everything went downhill in Teikou though, Akashi grew kind of distant... Nijimura is not the pestering type, so naturally he didn’t really press Akashi. But he could obviously tell something was different. But he still kept in touch with Akashi and gradually, Akashi, slowly, came out of his shell once again.

They both supported each other in their own ways and helped get through one another in hard times...

Minievent Day 6: #Aesthetics. How would you visually describe nijiaka?

Wow... good question. The first thing that comes to mind is obviously black and red. :’) (Almost like a ladybug, huh...)

But aesthetics... I’m not really sure. But if I made an aesthetic moodboard for them, I would definitely include a sunset/sunrise, tea/coffee, a Turkish Angora, calligraphy, something kitchen/food related... The ocean and the the stars. Red nail polish... Large sweaters and patterned yukatas. Really, just, things I associate with NijiAka. :’)

Who’s a better cook?

Well, it’s Akashi, but he rarely cooks. :’3 Nijimura is very decent though, and Akashi enjoys every meal he makes. For both Nijimura and Akashi it is perfect this way though.

Nijimura had to take care of his siblings, so he was in charge of cooking at home at least half of the time if not more. So he is very used to cooking for someone, while Akashi never truly had anyone cook for him in such an intimate way since his mother died.

Do they quarrel a lot?

Oh, that they do. :’) Over stupid things, usually... damn pride and stubbornness. Also, it doesn’t help that they can act rashly and on impulse.

Though they usually make up soon after. They are just so stupid, my dear idiots.

When it’s something very serious though, it takes them a lot of time to get over it because damn stubbornness.

What’s their favorite aspect of each other?

Ah. There is just so much... I love to think Akashi really admires Nijimura’s charisma and leading abilities. Akashi is very fond of how caring Nijimura is (even to the point of being self-sacrificing), and how he can act differently from what he expects at times.

As for Nijimura, he also admires Akashi’s charisma. He also likes how Akashi sees into the depth of the world and life (although it can be quite annoying in large doses, perhaps), and despite how others may see Akashi, Nijimura really finds him endearing. :’3

How did they meet for the first time?

Well, in canon, it was when Akashi made it into first string. I can imagine at first glance, Nijimura was surprised by how small Akashi was. :’) But I don’t think he would comment on it, since Akashi got into the first string after all, then the kid must be good. Their actual meeting was nothing too memorable, in a sense. The new members introduced themselves to Nijimura, and that was it.

Though, I’m not sure when Akashi becomes vice-captain, but after the first few practices, Nijimura definitely comes to the conclusion that Akashi is pretty good and very capable, not only as a player. :’3 Thus, Akashi is his first choice as vice-captain.

How was their first kiss like?

I love to imagine their first kiss to be a very innocent one. :’) Inexperienced and tentative. They are still in Teikou, and this whole relationship is new to them. They press their lips together, and when they part they both have a light blush on their cheeks.

Are they a romantic couple?

Well, in a certain way? They don’t really engage in PDA though, and they are expressing their feelings more in actions than words. Nijimura hugging Akashi close after a long and tiring day. Akashi fondly looking at Nijimura sleeping and gently pressing a kiss to his cheek or forehead. Nijimura cooking Akashi’s favourite. Akashi getting Nijimura’s favourite ice-cream. Nijimura and AKashi taking care of each other when they are tired. Al the small little things you can imagine.

And then, sometimes, they express it in words, and they both die a little inside. :’)

What would be their ideal date?

Hmm... I don’t really think it would be much, honestly. I think as long as they are enjoying themselves, that would be enough for them. :3

Who contacted with who first after Nijimura’s graduation?

As I mentioned it in the day 5 minievent, I think was the first to contact Nijimura. But Nijimura was not far behind because he also wanted to contact Akashi, but he was overwhelmed with life, he didn’t want to contact Akashi until he settled down enough to breathe.

I can imagine Akashi sending an overly polite message to Nijimura too. :’) And gosh, Nijimura would laugh to himself after reading it.

Do they take a lot of pictures together?

I would not say that hey take a lot of pictures together. But when the occasion is special, they would take pictures together. :’)

But I love to imagine that they take pictures of each other quite often.

Who makes up first after a fight?

Ah, now that is a tricky one. It depends on many things like, what the fight was about, what they said, who started it... really, many things.

Sometimes they don’t even talk about it again, after they calmed down, they realize how stupid it was, and their actions are saying everything, and make up without words. :’)

How did they feel about each other before? And now?

They respect each other. They always have and they always will. I think the mutual respect they share for each other is a fundamental part of their relationship.

I think Akashi had a crush on Nijimura first, back in Teikou. I think it started out from admiration, as a captain, as a senpai, as a person. Now, Akashi loves him above all that. :’)

As for Nijimura, he thought Akashi was very capable and he had qualities that he lacked, which is why he admired Akashi in his own way. Now, he just loves Akashi. Really.

Hmmm... yes, I think so. Not in public though. :’) But at home, oh, they do.

Oh gosh. :’3 I have so many ideas about this, depending on when they got together.

When Nijimura moved to LA, they grew closer and closer with Akashi and Nijimura realized his feelings for him, while Akashi never really stopped having a crush on Nijimura. :’) Nijimura, when they in person, confessed to Akashi.

When Nijimura graduated, Akashi confessed to Nijimura.

Or, when they were attending university, after one of their (with the others too, perhaps? or it was only Akashi and Nijimura? who knows :’) ) get together. On their way home, after an impulsive kiss.

Really, there are just so many ways... so many.

The Rogue One novel, schaloime and I: A Christmas cry fest

Sooo around Christmas I read the Rogue One novelization. And because I lost it at the first few pages already I decided that I couldn’t suffer through this perfection alone and started texting quotes and comments to @schaloime​ (mainly KRENNIC ALL THE WAY)... And, well. I don’t want to lose this list of hilarity and heartbreak, so I’m posting it now for everyone’s amusement. :D (Comments are of course translated from a wild English/German mix and a bit edited, but convey the fun we’ve had really well. X’D)

This book gets a very high recommendation from me, just saying before the cut! I love it to pieces, it even made my second trip to the cinema a lot better and gave me so much! 11/10 pathetic wine mom Orsons, would (and will) read again

He also apparently likes to walk miles and miles through the construction and is quite pleased about having built all this and knowing every lil detail.)

Galen Erso, whom he’d given every chance. Galen Erso, whom he’d nearly died for once on that sad scrap of farmland. “I thought we were past this,” Krennic murmured to himself, with a bitter smile."

Just in - Krennic’s fuckin’ gay for Galen (as if we didn’t know that) and ALWAYS thinks about either him or Tarkin.

He’s really like HALF OF THE FANON!HUX headcanons I’ve encountered in fics. [slime and I began to flail helplessly because we can’t handle him. spoiler: we didn’t really stop screaming until the end.]

During the flight to Eadu, Krennic had stoked the fury in his heart. Fueled by outrage and humiliation, its fire burned bright enough to warm him in the chill that swept through the shuttle.

“Gentlemen. One of you has betrayed the Empire. One of you conspired with a pilot to send messages to the Rebellion. I urge that traitor to step forward.”

Krennic. How often did you practice that in front of a mirror until you made sure you won’t forget a single word of it?

If by some miracle Cassian got off a second shot, he decided Krennic would make an excellent target. The Empire could only be improved by the loss of another high-ranking blowhard.

GOOD BOY. (Cassian’s thoughts are really interesting in general.)       

“Very well,” Krennic said. “I’ll consider it a group effort, then.” The words were cruel and sweet. Krennic felt no shame in deriving satisfaction from justice ruthlessly applied.

He looked down at himself and straightened his uniform with a tug. He noted black smudges from smoke and charred metal, a patch of red where someone—probably him—had bled. He wondered if he would have time to clean up before arriving. Or maybe Lord Vader would respect a man who’d seen combat.

Or: Krennic fainted right after entering the shuttle for departure from Eadu, got the order to go to Mustafar upon waking and dives headfirst into the REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS. I wish I were kidding.                        

Was Vader mad? Was this his homeworld? Perhaps he wasn’t human beneath his armor; perhaps that forbidding black suit did more than replace lungs and limbs damaged in battle, and instead allowed a creature born in magma to survive the chill of space. Or maybe he lived on Mustafar because he enjoyed burning his victims alive.

... Krennic lands on Mustafar and has some thoughts about how Extra™ Vader is.

Vader had let him live. Vader had judged him too valuable to kill—and by extension, the Emperor recognized his value as well. Tarkin’s mutiny, his seizure of the Death Star, had been forestalled. And Krennic had yet to reveal Tarkin’s greatest error—how in destroying Jedha City, Tarkin had failed to blockade the moon, failed to ensure against survivors. For how else could the rebels have infiltrated Eadu? The traitorous pilot had come from Eadu and fled to Jedha; his message had escaped. Only Tarkin could be held responsible for that.

Oh BOY. Hubris much? slime: “ "Look at me, Look at me!" me: Everyone else in this book has thoughts that are more than that pathetic blubbering. Even JYN, who’s at war with her hatred for everyone who’s ever left her, EVEN HER WHO HAS BEEN A REAL EGOIST UP UNTIL NOW. But nooooo, Krennic is the only Special Snowflake™ in the universe. At least in his own head.

He was ready to leave the madhouse that was Mustafar, but he was suddenly uncertain he could ever escape Vader’s shadow.

She held back a laugh and looked to Cassian. The man who’d betrayed her. The man who’d admitted his guilt and decided to fight for her. He saw her staring and looked back at her quizzically. It wasn’t how betrayals were supposed to go.

It was a bad plan. It had all been a bad plan, of course, starting with Galen’s message and ending with this unauthorized raid on Scarif. Now he was, what—defecting from his defection? If he survived, he’d be an Imperial traitor and a rebel mutineer. He’d be lucky to see the inside of a Yavin prison cell.

Bodhi, talking a mile a minute even in his thoughts. But he’s happy that there are most likely no mind-reading tentactle monsters on Yavin... At least something.

She almost winced when she looked at Cassian, wearing an officer’s suit and cap like they were perfectly tailored. Even the code cylinder in his pocket was at a regulation angle.

Jyn has her priorities straight. Always get a look while you can.

He stood at a metaphorical cliff’s edge, stamping his foot in an effort to cause an avalanche. With Galen Erso’s treachery undone, he would gain the allegiance of Vader. With Vader’s backing, he would expose the incompetence of Tarkin—the revelation of rebel survivors from Jedha. With Tarkin humiliated, Krennic’s command of the Death Star would be uncontested, and he would confer with the Emperor himself as to how it might best be used. Krennic would be, in every way that mattered, the most powerful and decorated man in the Empire.

Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin made it a point not to dwell on the flamboyant ambitions of Orson Krennic. Over the course of more than a decade, the director had gone from a nuisance to a genuine threat and back again, all the while demanding far more attention than Tarkin was prepared to grant him.

Thoughts from Tarkin! As if Krennic was a lousy annoying little fly.

Cassian had denied him that exquisite sense of purpose and replaced it with individuality. With individuality came doubt and cynicism: an awareness not only of the odds of success or failure but of those outcomes’ repercussions.

Individuality creates cynism. Now I have feels for a droid, thx Kaytoo.

With one second left until total shutdown, K-2SO chose to mentally simulate an impossible scenario in which Cassian Andor escaped alive. The simulation pleased him.

Drama much! Firm belief now: He has that cape only to imagine himself in such a moment, with that last sentence as caption, for the epic picture he strikes in his own imagination...

But before Baze could fire, Chirrut rose from the bunker and stepped into sunlight.

First thought: oooh why do scenes with those two always feature such impressive pictures in my head Second thought, because the part was over and another person took over: FUCK YOU ALEXANDER FREED FUCK YOU SIDEWAYS I waited the WHOLE DAMN BOOK for a scene from Chirrut’s POV and just accepted that I won’t get one AND YOU DROP THE PART AT THE MAIN SWITCH ON ME FUCK YOU FUCK YOU HARD

[This was also when I started crying. I cried during three books my whole life (I cry frequently at movies, and I read a lot, so it takes a special something for that to happen). Be proud of yourself, Alexander Freed. You wrote *bawled her eyes out*-book #4.)

At last report, the data vault itself had been breached. It was a show of incompetence so great that Tarkin was almost curious to know how Krennic might explain it away.

Tarkin is a lil bitch sometimes. It’s great.

He was not the Empire—not every moment of oppression and indignity and torment she had ever suffered. He was an Imperial, a petty, spiteful, scared little man who’d forgotten his own atrocities. And he didn’t know her at all. She decided to make him remember.

Jyn can’t read a lot of people, but it seems to be easy for her with Krennic. X’D He only ever was “the man in white from her nightmares” until they finally meet. And up until his death she does know who he is and what role he had in her life - but never his name. Well, Orson. Sucks to be you. No immortal name.

He could follow Galen Erso’s thread through his life. He could see the full extent of the tragedy, the waste of effort on a wasted man. But what about before? He sought refuge in his childhood, tried to recall an Orson whose hopes had not yet been cast in shadow…

KRENNIC. Can’t you even in your LAST SECONDS stop thinking about how deeply ingrained Galen was into your life and how pathetic you were??? THIS GUY.                

Orson Krennic, advanced weapons research director and father of the Death Star, died alone on Scarif, screaming in fury at Galen Erso, at Jyn Erso, at Wilhuff Tarkin, and at all the galaxy.

... In his very last moments he imagined himself in full glory on the Death Star, his triumph, and in the middle of those cozy thoughts about his creation, the one thing he knows in and out, he finally noticed what Galen sabotaged. Ooops. Sucks, right?

I cried a lot. Slime cried a lot. And I’ll end this with the one sentence that really stuck with me and won’t leave my head for a long time...

Like a pilot should, he died with his ship.

Goodbye, Bodhi. Not all alone after all.
