Etwas Peilen (Swapboys AU)
Continuation of Welcome to the Show exploring Alt and Henny’s relationship!
Masterpost | More Swapboys
Before the new friends parted ways, the good doctor Jackson rounded them all up to get their scratches and wounds tended to. Bro and Jackie were already helped, with Bro giving a detailed report to the police and Jackie icing his aching nose.
Dr. J had Alt up on the bar stools with him, lightly dabbing antiseptic on the cuts on his cheek. Alt hissed and was trying not to glitch away as Jameson held him still.
Henrik watched anxiously, wringing his fingers back and forth. He… can’t believe Magnificent just… let them go. Guess they proved themselves? Maybe… but- Henrik was scared the puppetmaster was only biding his time. And until now… he had no one who he could confide in.
Until… Alt.
As the good doctor started to gather his supplies and finished up with Alt, popping a clean white bandage on his cheek- Henrik hesitated before slowly approaching. The normally charismatic actor felt nerves in his throat but he tapped the glitch on the shoulder.
Alt looked back and raised an eyebrow at him, “Schneep? Uh… wassup?”
Henrik tapped his legs as he tried to find his voice, “T-Today was… long day. But- we… we have found ourselves in a uh… similar position, yes? And so I… I was wanting to invite you to make the drinkings with me?”
Alt’s eyebrows furrow in slight concern, “Are you suggesting alcohol to wash our troubles away? Cuz I don’t think the doc would approve of that-“ He glanced back towards Jameson as he went to join the others.
The gentleman laughs and shakes his head, “No no! Not in that way… I- just think it would be nice to… get to know each other better? Since well… you know.” Henrik messes with the back of his head anxiously, trying to give an award winning smile to Alt.
The younger man stared at Henrik with an unreadable expression for a couple beats. Then, he sighs and stuffs his hands in his pockets, going to pull his mask up out of habit but stopping himself to look back at the actor.
“…I should warn you I’m not an open person so… I dunno how much getting to know each other they’ll be… but, sure. Tomorrow night… meet me at Insomnia.”
Henrik tilts his head slightly, “Not tonight?”
Alt laughs, though, it looks kinda pained. “Nah I… I got a gig tonight.” He laughs some more and pushes his bangs back then tugs on them, “god… I have a gig… I… I should get ready for that…”
Henrik frowns in sympathy and hesitates before putting a hand on Alt’s shoulder. “Please… do not push yourself too hard my friend… and you… you are injured…”
Alt blinks in surprise at the gesture and then glitches back to his feet, looking at the actor warily. Henrik blinks and holds up a hand and Alt attempts to give a forced smile. “I-I would cancel but… I need money for drinks now.”
Henrik steps back and wildly waves his hands, half signing out of habit. “No no! You will not pay! It will be on me!”
The glitch seems surprised by this too. But, now he smiles more genuinely. “Well… all the more motivation then, huh?”
He lightly hits Henrik on the shoulder as he starts to walk away, turning so the gentleman can still read his lips. “…see you tomorrow then, Schneep. You know how to reach me.”
He then pauses and fully turns back towards Henrik, something dawning on his face. “Wait… you Do know how to text right? U-Use a phone?”
Henrik laughs and nods, “Ja I know the telefon! I’m not as fresh from the past as you think, my friend. I have learned very much!”
“Oh… okay- good then…” Alt nods then sends a two finger salute Henrik’s way, glitching away into that night. “See ya.”
Turns out Henrik did know how to text but… not… well-
Around 7 pm the next day Alt’s phone buzzed with:
Schneep
🍺🙏☑️❓❓❓
Alt
…Yeah man- how’s 9 sound?
Schneep
😁🥰❗️❗️❗️
Alt
U kno u don’t have to use only emojis to text right?
Schneep
👍
Welp- guess that answered that. (Asking Jackie about it- apparently after Dr. J helped Henrik get his phone, the teal gentleman accidently got stuck in the emoji menu for a couple days and now is like- addicted to them. Alt wasnt sure if that was better or worse than old man texting-)
A little after 9, Alt glitched in front of the small pub downtown called Insomnia. He liked it here- good place for a drink after some of his shows.
He walks in, nodding towards the bartender that recognized his mask. Then, it was surprisingly easy to find Schneep- cuz he barreled right towards Alt with his arms open.
“Hallo, Alt!! My friend!!” He shouted.
Alt quickly stumbled back, his shoulders buzzing as he tried to keep out of Henrik’s grip. He hurried to take off his mask and hold up his hands. “Uh- hi Schneep- sorry just- not good with… contact-”
Henrik tilted his head in confusion but then got the memo and nodded, a bright smile back on his face. “Oh yes! Not to worry- I will save huggings for later!”
“Y…yeah- sure-” Alt muttered as he rubbed the back of his neck. Damn- this guy was too sweet. It was kinda intimidating…
A furry head peaked out from Henrik’s leg and Alt recognized Schneep’s dog, Sahne. He felt himself bristle a bit like an offended cat. But, she just blinked at him, her tail slightly wagging. She had her vest on- guess she was working. So, Alt tried his best to ignore her.
Henrik led them towards a quieter part of the bar where he had already set himself up with a small book. Though, once Alt got closer he recognized it as something more than just a paperback novel- it was a small moleskin sketchbook. Henrik plopped into the seat and Alt hesitated before sitting down and gesturing towards the book.
“You… draw?”
The gentleman’s eyes sparkled as he eagerly nodded. “Oh yes! I quite like making art in my spare time! Normally, I like to paint… but when I wait for friends I like to draw portraits!”
He shows Alt his sketches- quick gestures of other patrons- mostly anyone with a very striking appearance. Henrik smiles as he looks at them. “I think… learning people is helping me to understand more and more about how people work now. Sometimes- it helps it feel not too different.” He pats Sahne’s head as she sits down next to him. She licks his fingers then settles down to rest under his barstool.
Alt listens and nods to his words. He then flushes and fumbles for his backpack. They were trying to get to know each other and… well- this was something most people don’t know about him. But, artists liked showing off to other artists. It couldn’t hurt… He pulls out a thin tablet and then turns on the screen, flipping to show it to Henrik. On the screen are designs he’s done for his illusions and shows- and concepts of graffiti tags, most featuring a green eyeball with red x’s and a stitched smiley face over its iris. Alt’s face turns very red as he stammers out, “I uh… I draw too. And, um… i also like- painting but… not in the way you do.”
The German actor looks beyond pleased, sparkles practically coming off his body as he grabs Alt’s hands and holds them close. Alt yelps and pulls himself away and Henrik apologizes quickly, “Oh yes sorry! But Alt! You are good! Such fun colors!! I wondered if it was bright paint on your clothes! Someday you must show me more of your work!”
The glitch turns even more red and hides a bit in his hoodie, “Um… yeah- if I can… find one that’s uh- in a good spot… I can show you.”
Alt had been trying to find more free spaces lately but- doesn’t mean he doesn’t still tag where he’s not supposed to. Not that anyone could catch him- he had quite the streak for heaven spots around the area. Couldn’t take Henrik to see those though- well, at least up close.
Alt flagged down the bartender and ordered some Irish whiskey, watching as Henrik got what looked like his 3rd pint of beer. He smirked and sipped at the drink, taking a second to appreciate it before he sighs and looks back at Henrik.
“Alright, you had something on your mind, right? Or were you serious about getting to ‘know me’?” Alt added the air quotes to make sure his sarcasm wasn’t lost on Schneep.
Henrik blinked and then played with the pages of his sketchbook. “Oh ah… I do- want to get to know you… I think you seem- well… very rough around edges- but… sympathetic too. I think I would very much like to be friends.” He tried to smile at Alt. But, then he sighs and takes a sip of his drink before continuing.
“But- if you want to skip pleasantries then- we can talk about the elephant in the air-”
“...do you mean ‘elephant in the room’?”
Henrik flushed and then laughed, “Oh is that how that is called? But… ja- let’s talk about this elephant.”
He then gets quiet and looks down, tracing the lines in the table.
“...Magnificent-” He eventually whispers, suppressing a shudder. “I… I could not help but notice… that he treated you and me… very different from each other.”
He looks to meet Alt’s eyes now, “I do not know how it works for you… maybe it is different… but when I am ah- puppet… I see it all. I remember. Not right away but… it comes to me in my dreams…” He grips one of his hands into a fist and closes his eyes as he takes a shaky breath. Sahne seems to sense his distress and reaches up to rest her head on his leg. He continues, “I cannot control what my body does. I cannot form my own thoughts- but I still… see it. I am forced to take in what awful things I am made to do…”
Henrik hesitates again before meeting Alt’s gaze. “in the warehouse, when he gave you his power… did you mean it? That you wanted all that or… was that his ah- thinking forced in you?”
Alt frowns. Wow- that was… immediately very deep. He takes a long sip of his whiskey before he responds, but his voice is quiet. He almost forgets he needs to turn enough for Henrik to read his lips.
“I… I was definitely influenced but… I guess. I do.. kinda want that?” He grips at his head slightly, “It’s… complicated… and goes wayyy into my backstory that I’m not sure you’re at a level to unlock yet.”
Henrik looks confused.
Alt shakes his head.
“Sorry video game joke uh- im not sure we’re… close enough yet… to explain why… but-”
“Then, can I share some of me?”
The glitch blinks at the actor. “Huh?”
“If you know me better then- we would be closer. And you can explain better, ja?” Henrik smiles.
Alt looks confused by this but eventually laughs and knocks back some more of his drink. “Alright, shoot.”
Henrik hums and looks up, “Oh… where to begin…?”
“Oh!” He grins at Alt, “I know is hard to believe because of my accent but- did you know I am not full German? Actually, I am a full British citizen!”
Alt’s eyebrows shot up, “...that is hard to believe.”
The gentleman laughs lightly, “I know my accent is everywhere- but I spent many of my early years only speaking German- and sometimes French!” He gets a dreamy look on his face, “My father was a British doctor- he learned in France where he met my mother. She was full German but was trying to study with some artists there. They met… fell in love and then moved to London and had their 5 kids.”
“5 kids?!”
“Yes! I was the baby!” Henrik added with glee. “I had 4 older siblings- two brothers, Peter and Fritz… and my sisters, Gabi and Ilse.” He smiles sadly for a second and pauses to take another drink before sharing more.
“Father used to say when he grew up he hated German because he was expected to learn it. But then, he met my mother and it was suddenly the most beautiful language to him. We loved speaking it- even while in England. I wouldn’t even see Germany until I was grown.”
He then frowns and leans more on the table, absent-mindedly petting Sahne’s fur back. “... that changed with the war. The great war… Then, our accents and our language was suddenly not to be spoken. People would get angry with us for sounding too German. We made sure to hide our German sounding names… Father was on the lines, as were my brothers.
So… they were… somewhat safe when the Zeppelins came. Safer than we were…”
Alt’s heart and stomach dropped.
“No one was prepared… we were out shopping and… and-” Henrk clenched his glass tight with both hands, his fingers shaking. He squeezed his eyes shut and took a stuttering breath. Sahne whined and leaned more on his leg. Alt didn’t know what to say-
“... Mama, Ilse and Gabi didn’t have to suffer. But, I never saw them again-”
“...Schneep-” Alt tried to interrupt. But, Henrik was lost in his re-telling.
“That’s how my deafness started, I was… 11, I think? Peter found me, he was working in a hospital nearby. He took care of me. Some kind soldiers taught me sign while I recovered- then... Then father was-”
“Schneep!” Alt exclaimed and gripped onto Henrik’s shoulder. The gentleman looked up with slightly misty eyes. Alt was quick to pull away but he held up his hands. “Dude… you… you more than earned your level- I… I can answer your question now… if you want.”
Henrik blinks and then laughs, looking a bit embarrassed as he rubbed at his eyes. “O-oh ja… I forgot that was the point… we are not here to hear such sad story!” He tried to smile it off but Alt could tell it was forced.
Alt swallowed and then knocked down the rest of his drink, the alcohol burning his throat. He quickly ordered another one, shaking himself out. “Need a bit more liquid courage for this…” He muttered.
Once the new drink is gotten, Alt holds it in his hands for a second before sighing and turning enough for Henrik to understand but not enough to look in his eyes. Pixels vibrate around his head and shoulders in a way that’s hard to see in the dim light of the pub.
“… I dunno if you met anyone like me in your time. And not just.. cuz of the glitches and magic but… I was… born… wrong.” He clenched his teeth slightly and tried to ignore the feeling that was screaming at him- telling him that every eye was on him. “…And I grew up… constantly thinking about it… how I wanted to be something… better. Stronger… because I didn’t feel like I was… as I am.”
He traces the rim of his cup in thought. Henrik watched him very patiently. Alt felt like that was more than he deserved.
“I know Mag was spitting fucking bullshit- but… some part of me… wants to believe him. And I’m not sure if that’s his mind tricks or… the part of me that wants to be… something more. I.. I want to be stronger… but I don’t know how to get there… and for just a little bit… I did believe him. That he could… make me stronger. And… things would get… easier.”
He leans his head on the table, starting to feel the alcohol in his cheeks. Schneep leans closer to make sure he can still understand. Alt angles his head a bit better as he mumbles in defeat.
“I’m sorry… I know you want to find some good in me but… my life has royally sucked. And… sometimes what Mag purrs out sounds… argh!”
He suddenly grips at his head, a headache blooming alongside his conflicted mind. Purple seems to spark weakly in his eyes.
“I dunno! I’m confused! I… I can still hear his stupid smug voice in my head…! I don’t know what I want…! I just- I just… I’m so fucking tired…! Of all of this-! I’m tired of being hungry and- and- powerless and a-scared… I don’t want to feel so lost anymore…!”
He starts to cry but hides his face and he hiccups “I want all of this to stop…!”
Henrik almost misses the last part but- his eyebrows crinkle with sympathy. Alt starts to come back to himself and then shoots up, looking at Henrik with wide eyes and red ears.
“Fuck I- I didn’t… I didn’t want to-“
The gentleman hesitates, going to reach out like he wants to touch Alt’s hand, but then stops to just loop his pinky around Alt’s own. Alt almost pulls away but- that’s… that’s not so bad.
“I understand,” He says softly, “He whispers siren songs- into your head. But… he will only tell you things you want to hear. He does not care… he only wants control. His promises are… empty.”
He sighs and looks down, shrugging. “That is how he got me. He used my confusion and promised to help me… he did not. He is nothing but ein lügnerischer Bastard.”
Alt looks away but- he’s afraid to tell Henrik how little he cared. Before, he met the others. Before he even thought he could become friends with them… with anyone. He didn’t care who he hurt- if he got hurt. Because- he’d finally be somewhere better…. Someone better. ….right?
Henrik lets go of Alt’s pinky and then waves a hand, giving a nervous smile.
“This is getting too of the serious! We should… talk about other things!”
Alt looked down at the table and sighs. “ I… I think… I need to go home…”
“No!” Henrik suddenly yells, startling the glitch and Sahne, who bumped her head on his leg. The actor then pleads to Alt. “We do not need to talk anymore if that is what you want! We can just… do the hangings out! We could… draw together and drink! No more serious talk!”
This gives Alt pause. Actually… that sounded like it could be fun. The pickpocket slowly smiled, bringing back his tablet. “You know what Schneep… I’ll bite. But it’s on your wallet-“
Schneep beamed brightly.
The two spent a while just drawing together. Alt tried to copy Henrik’s idea of drawing others around him. But- he wasn’t nearly as good as Schneep. So, he went back to what he knew- he even tried making bubble tags of the others' names. Just for fun. It was nice to just- doodle for a change.
He glanced at Schneep who had paused in his drawing to stare at someone across the way. He had a somewhat lovestruck look on his face.
Alt tried to follow his gaze- and saw what looked like a man- but honestly their gender was pretty ambiguous. They had tan copper skin and wavy brown hair. They were dressed in shiny silks with celestial patterns on them- even Alt had to admit they were very pretty. Maybe they were a model.
Henrik seemed to think so too- cuz as Alt looked at Henrik’s sketchbook- the whole page was filled with studies of that one person.
The glitch smirked and then bumped Henrik enough to get his attention. “Like something you see?”
“Hm? Oh! Ja… very much-“ Henrik sighed as he looked back. “He is… so pretty- I cannot stop looking…”
Alt rolled his eyes and waved a hand in front of his face. “Careful- you don’t want to creep them out-“
Then Alt frowns, realizing something.
“Wait… Schneep- are you… gay?” Alt makes a face and thinks, “wasn’t that like- a sin back then or something?”
Henrik’s face turns bright red with embarrassment and alarm. He holds his cheeks and ducks down, whispering, “ah yes right I- I cannot think such things!”
Alt wasn’t expecting such a response- so he hurries to correct him “no no it’s okay! it’s… not like it was anymore. It’s okay now- no laws against it!” Alt hurried to look around then gestures vaguely at a cluster of gay couples on another side of the pub. “Like see there’s a couple guys over there too- you’re fine…”
The actor seems to calm slightly at this and nods. Alt hesitates before adding, “I just- didn’t expect someone from your time to even be into that…”
Henrik laughs “Well it was- against the law. Very strictly for a longtime… but it does not mean the thoughts are not there.” He looks back to study the pretty person again as he swirls his drink in his glass. “Though… I think I like just- pretty people in general. I do not care what sex they are, you know?”
“Well- if it helps, I think they’re non-binary- from what I can tell at least.” Alt shrugs.
“Ah yes… that is- neither girl nor boy… yes?”
“It gets… complicated but- yeah basically.” Alt answers. He makes a face and takes a long sip of his drink. “Gender is weird.”
He then starts to think about this too. Maybe he was having too much to drink by now but- he finds himself muttering. “I get it… the pretty people thing. I- think I’m the same…? Though… I dunno- I don’t… crush on anyone. But I think if I knew someone for long enough… maybe-” Alt sighs dramatically and falls back against the table, squishing his cheek against it. “feelings are weird too…”
Henrik smiles and shakes his head with a laugh, “They are indeed…”
“Fucking hate them-“ the glitch muttered. Henrik shakes his head with a quiet giggle.
“You know- I had many chances to visit Berlin once I started acting. And it was such a sight…! It was… more okay there- to be queer. Even here in Brighton, it was becoming better and better! It made me feel… so happy. Like I could be understood- eventually.”
He looks to Alt and smiles, “Even when I was younger… I think I heard of people like you, Alt.” Alt’s eyebrows raised in surprise.
He grips his glass and looks down at the table. “However…It all started to change… right before I- I was brought…“ He pressed his lips together and suppressed a shudder.
Alt’s face creases in sympathy. He knocks back the rest of his drink then adds quietly. “…you dodged something really awful, Schneep…”
“I know…” Henrik’s voice cracks. “…I am… grateful in some ways… that I did not have to suffer another war… but…” He bites his lip to keep from crying.
Alt can tell there’s a lot left unsaid in the silence but he can read it well enough. No need to draw out this pain for the poor guy. Alt’s been pretty sensitive to touch tonight but- he leans his shoulder against Hen and flags down the bartender for another round. “…it’s okay, Schneep. I get it… let’s talk about something else, alright?”
Henrik quietly nods.
There’s quiet for a second before Alt asks, “uh… I don’t know- a lot of sign yet… wanna try to teach me? Something simple though.”
Schneep’s face instantly lights up with excitement and nods. “Oh yes!! I have the perfect thing!!”
Turns out- in sign, you can either finger spell a name or whoever’s signing can make up a sign that’s faster for someone they know. So, Henrik made quick work of teaching Alt the signs he used for their little group.
Bro Fantastic was the letter B then the sign for hero. Jackie was J then the sign for tired. Dr. J was easy- it was two J’s then the sign for doctor, naturally. And Sahne was cream, dog. Because Sahne in German meant Cream. Not the most creative name but- Alt had to admit it suited her.
Eventually Henrik starts to sign something that starts with A- then he makes a jagged motion in the air. Alt tilts his head.
“What’s that one?”
“It’s you! A- then lightning! Alt!” Henrik adds cheerily.
Alt feels his face heat up slightly. He then grins and laughs, “heh- awesome. Got any others?”
Henrik thinks- and Alt can see his cheeks getting flushed and warm like he feels on his own. So everything was a bit harder to slug through- but it was definitely more fun.
Finally, Henrik laughs and then starts a sign that looks like he’s drawing whiskers on his face. Then he taps his hand on his forehead, holding it straight up and touching the thumb to his skin.
Alt narrows his eyes. “Mmmm what’s that mean-“
Henrik grins real wide as he shows again, this time explaining. “Cat, bitch!”
The glitch’s eyes widen and then he barks out a laughs nearly spilling his drink. “Magnificent!”
“Yes! You got it!”
They both erupt into drunken laughter and giggles, falling over on each other.
The night wears on for a bit longer before the two admit they’ve had enough to drink. Alt feels it a bit more than his German counterpart and ends up stumbling into him as he attempts to stand up, nearly running into Sahne.
“Oops… s’rry pubby-“ Alt mumbles. Sahne wags her tail vigorously in response.
Henrik laughs then asks, “Can I help you outside, or?”
Alt grumbles and waves his hand. “Yeh ye- do wh’ev’r ya want…” He then pushes his face somewhat against Henrik’s side and the taller man quietly giggles at the sight.
Henrik leads the two outside and then tries to flag down a cab. He helps hold Alt up with one arm, while Sahne guards his other side, alerting him to any sounds he needs to watch out for.
He feels Alt shift and looks down to see the tired glitch try to find his eyes.
“…hen?” Alt slurs out.
It takes a second for Henrik to process that but his eyebrows shoot up. Alt hasn’t attempted to use his first name yet- it still wasn’t it fully, but it was close enough to make Henrik’s chest feel light.
The glitch looks away at first but then looks back to mumble out, “…it was nice. To not drink… alone.”
Henrik smiles and nods, “…I thought so too! It was very funny! …Perhaps we can… do it again sometime?”
Alt can’t help but feel himself smile. “…yeah… I think I’d like that…”

𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐲𝐬 [𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞]
𝐚/𝐧: merry christmas y'all!!
Darry Curtis:
You and Darry met each other at the local store. You were shopping for groceries while Darry had popped in after work to grab some last minute things for dinner. He was in a rush and wasn’t looking where he was going and, in that classic romance movie style, he ran right into you. He was incredibly apologetic and helped you pick up all of your things, even going as far as carrying them to the checkout for you. Whilst he’s helping you, you both get to know each other and he ends up inviting you to dinner in a panic.
“Look… I know we’ve just met each other and everything, but do you maybe wanna come over for dinner tomorrow night?” You’re a little taken aback, closing your truck slowly before turning to face him. “Yeah… Yeah sure, why not. Lets see if your cooking is as good as you say.”
Sodapop Curtis:
You were new to town and decided to stop off at the local DX to get some gas for your car. When you pulled up, Soda was already outside working on another car, flashing you a bright grin as he came over to help you. You both got talking, and soon you were both laughing and joking with each other until Steve came out to hurry Soda along. Before you could leave however, Soda stopped you and asked for your number, which you gladly gave him, telling him to call you when he finished his shift.
“Woah, wait… You got a number I could have maybe… I mean if you want to give it to me.” You laugh softly, grabbing a receipt from your dashboard and scribbling your number. “Here. Maybe I’ll let you come see the new house when we’re settled.”
Ponyboy Curtis:
You and Pony both shared an English class and just so happened to get sat next to each other one term. He was a little shy and a little awkward at first but it didn’t take long for you to both start up conversation, bonding over different literature and poetry. It wasn’t until you started finishing each other’s sentences that he realised he might be a little more than smitten with you. After class, he catches you at your locker and asks if you want to come over to work on a “project,” which you of course agree to.
“So, uh– I was thinking we could maybe work on that essay at my place. Together?” You raise a brow at him, nodding. “Alright, Curtis. I’ll be there at 5.”
Johnny Cade:
You’re walking home when you see Johnny being picked on by a group of socs. Whilst you’re not particularly tough, you decide to intervene, defending him until the group leaves. Your boldness surprises Johnny, and he thanks you quietly, choosing to walk you the rest of the way to your house. The two of you chat idly the whole way, and when you finally reach your gate, you choose to invite him in, offering to get him something to eat or drink.
“You didn’t have to do that, you know. Most people wouldn’t…. Look, can I get you somethin’ to say thanks? A soda or a milkshake or…” You shake your head, silencing him. “Just come inside and talk with me.”
Dallas Winston:
Your dad was the chief of police, and you just so happen to encounter Dallas whilst delivering lunch to your father. He was sitting in your dad’s office and flashed you a cocky little smirk the second you walked in, letting out a low whistle, and throwing little comments in your direction. Your dad, of course, doesn’t agree with Dally’s sudden interest, however, you find yourself falling for the greaser’s charm and end up slipping him your number when your father isn’t watching.
“Well look at this… You’re way too sweet to be hangin’ round a place like this, doll.” You roll your eyes, handing your dad his lunch. “This is my father’s office.” You smile sweetly, chuckling at the way Dallas’ jaw drops slightly.
Steve Randle:
Steve catches sight of you when he sees you struggling to start your car in the school parking lot. He watches for a little while before deciding to step in and offer you a hand, his easy-going charm instantly winning you over. As he fixes up your engine, you can’t help but laugh at every little joke he tells, and you both fall into conversation easily. Once your car is fixed up, he gives you his number and tells you to call if you ever need help again. What he didn’t expect was you to call him that night asking if he wanted to go for a milkshake the next day.
“Your car broken again?” Steve chuckles, leaning against the wall, twirling the phone cord. You huff a laugh. “No. Just wanted to talk to you.”
Two-Bit Mathews:
Two noticed you getting heckled by some boys at the drive-in and decided to step in, cracking jokes and pretending to be your boyfriend until they left. However, he ended up staying with you even after they were long gone, the two of you firing teasing comments at each other and laughing together for the rest of the night. By the time you had to go, he offered to drive you home. Once you finally reached your house, you turned to him with a smile, kissed his cheek in thanks, and offered to go out together again.
“You really wanna go out with a guy like me, baby?” Two raises a brow at you, his eyes a little dazed as you nod. “Yeah, why wouldn’t I? You’re sweet. Pick me up at 7 tomorrow night.”

You whimpered as another dull ache spread throughout your lower abdomen. Your thighs were beginning to feel sore and your lower back was killing you. You didn’t want to bother anyone though so you kept your head down and kept your whimpers as quiet as possible.
There was no pads or anything really. No medicine. No nothing so you were stuck with toilet paper in your panties until the cramps went away. You gritted your teeth and moved to lay on your back on the bed. You couldn’t tell whether these cramps were the worst you’d experienced as of late or if you simply couldn’t remember any periods before this.
It was eight at night so Darry should have been home by now. You looked up at the clock and waited to hear his boots coming onto the porch. He could take a quick bath and then come cuddle with you. His warmth would really help especially since you could force him to message your lower abdomen.
The front door opened and you heard Darry’s thudding boots hit the floor with each step. He went into the bathroom but quickly came back out. “Who’s bleeding? Did those socs get after y’all again?” You looked down embarrassed, knowing he had most likely seen some of the bloody tissue. You didn’t want him to though. You wrapped them all multiple times. Another wave of cramps hit as they came back to back. One after another. You closed your eyes and bit into the blanket.
Why were women expected to go through this every month again? Who decided this should’ve been a thing? You were cursing anything and everything in that moment as you heard the bedroom door open. Darry looked at you before realizing, his eyes softening a great deal. He gave you a gentle smile, “Can you wait for a second? I need to go take a bath but I’ll be out soon and I got enough money to buy you whatever you need.” He watched you nod and walked out of the room with a smile gracing his face. You let out a curse under your breath before rolling around on the bed. You were hoping to find the position that eased the pain the most.
With one more roll and a weird angle, you found the perfect position. You closed your eyes and let out a breath before patiently waiting for Darry to come out of the bathroom. Five or so minutes later, Darry came walking in with just a towel on. “What store do you usually go to? Do you know what you want to get to snack on?” Darry had dropped the towel and was cleaning everything up. He started putting his clothes on before coming to pick you up. “You don’t need to walk. Get comfortable and point to what you want.” He muttered out into your hair softly. You smiled as the pain picked back up. Even though you really wanted to kill him for moving you, you couldn’t bring yourself to actually say or do anything hurtful to him. He was trying his best for someone who had never had a period before.
Sodapop Curtis:
You walked circles around the DX, looking at the snacks and drinks. You grabbed a water and a few pieces of candy. You’d already taken something for the cramps but they weren’t going away.
You walked up to the counter and threw your things up there. Soda looked you up and down before noticing the black pants. You rarely wore black pants and when you did, it signified that time of the month. You gave Steve a dirty look as he ran behind Soda. For some reason, his voice really pissed you off.
Soda told you what you owed before he pulled change out of his pocket. “You okay? I’ll kick Ponyboy from the room back home if you wanna come back.” Soda’s calming voice always managed to sooth you though this time, you still felt a great deal of anger.
“I’m fine. Why does it matter anyways? Can’t you just ring me up and give me my snacks back?!?” Before Soda could say anything else, you had burst into tears. Steve had come out of the back to check on the girl crying and slowly went back the way he came when he noticed it was you.
You didn’t like Steve one bit when you were on your period. Maybe it was because of the times where he’d stolen your chocolate cake or maybe his ego annoyed you but whatever it was, he learned from last time not to bother you.
Soda jumped over the counter and slung an arm around your shoulder. He planted a kiss on your temple and rubbed your back for a little bit, letting you push your body weight against him. To you, it felt comfortable being pressed against him. His body heat also made you feel a lot better. Steve’s head peeked around the corner before he began mouthing to Soda about him just staying with you until you calmed down.
Soda brought you with him to sit down, cradling you carefully on his lap. You were going through a lot and he knew any man would do the same thing had you gone to them instead. He began leaving kisses all over your face and even kissed the top of your head in an effort to make you smile. You hid your little smile in Soda’s neck.
One of his hands came down to rub your lower back, remembering all the times you would complain about the pain. Soda tried, he really did. Even if it didn’t seem like much to others, it meant the world to you.
Ponyboy Curtis:
You began writing the notes down quickly, hoping to finish up with biology. It was a class you despised more than Bob which that statement alone spoke volumes. As you finally set your pen down, with your hand cramping up, you realized there was a slight pain in your abdomen. Of course, you waved it off at first as being hungry.
You also knew if you couldn’t see it then it wasn’t there but when the pain began to worsen, you knew you needed to go to the restroom. Ponyboy was sitting beside you, reading a book since he’d long been done with what you all were supposed to do.
You reached a hand out and gently tugged on his jacket sleeve. He marked the page he was on before looking at you with a gentleness that calmed you down. “Can you come to the bathroom with me? I need to do something.” Your teacher was surprisingly lenient and would allow you to use the restroom without even asking. So both you and Ponyboy stood up. With you leading, it most likely looked like something it shouldn’t have.
You scampered down the hallways in a panic to find your locker once you felt gravity do it’s job. Ponyboy was still as confused as ever as he mindlessly followed behind you like an innocent puppy. Before long, you’d found your locker and opened it to reveal your sanitary products. Ponyboy’s face went from one of confusion to realization.
“Baby..” He started as he reached a hand out for you to grab. He let you hold onto him to the trip to the bathroom, comfortingly whispering sweet nothings to you while also physically showing affection.
You had a hard time every month as the cramps and fatigue would usually get the best of you. That was okay though as you had your lovely boyfriend to get you whatever you needed.
Ponyboy placed a kiss on your head as you separated from him to go into the bathroom. He waited outside and once you got out, wrapped his arms around you.
You laid against him for a few minutes, almost falling asleep standing up. Ponyboy sighed from above you, wanting to take you home and comfort you in the best ways he possibly could. Unfortunately, the two of you still had three hours of school left. Fortunately, you two had all the same classes so Ponyboy could sit with you and comfort you every chance given to him.
Johnny Cade:
You called the Curtis household, asking for Johnny. He responded almost immediately, telling you he would be over soon enough. You set out snacks and anything else you could think of in that moment as you knew Johnny most likely hadn’t eaten all that much.
When he knocked on your door, you couldn’t have been happier. All you wanted was to lay down and cuddle. For some reason, you’d gotten really physically affectionate with him and it made him skeptical. Why would you wanna cuddle unless you did something wrong? That thought process wasn’t healthy but it was how Johnny survived. Everyone must do something to fuck him up.
“Johnny, please come lay down with me.” You whined as you wrapped your arms around his waist. Those negative thoughts faded as he realized he was thinking about you. The girl who almost physically fist fought her parents when they told her she had to break up with him. The girl who chased Bob and Randy away when they tried to tease Johnny for being a greaser. You couldn’t have done anything bad. Not in Johnny’s eyes anyway.
“Okay.” The way Johnny’s voice broke made you give him a seductive grin before you realized you couldn’t do anything with him as you were in the middle of your period. Lucky for you, you only had about two or three days left.
Johnny followed you to your living room where you had a fort set up on the couch. Blankets were everywhere and a soap opera played on the tv. There was no reason for it to be as sad as it was but it mattered none the less to you. You loved watching or reading heart wrenching things.
You sat down on the couch and pulled Johnny down with you. Your giggles made Johnny’s day. They were so very sweet and innocent sounding. If a stranger heard it, they’d think you were excited and happy. Johnny knew the difference between a happy giggle and a mischievous one. It still made his day for him to hear you happy though especially when your period came around. You used to be embarrassed about it and tried to hide it as best as you could from Johnny but he figured out what you was doing during the week you avoided anything sexual. Not that Johnny minded. He’d have a week to simply coddle you and show you how much he loved you without having to take any clothes off.
It wasn’t like Johnny was a Dallas in the making. Instead, the two of you were genuinely intimate with one another. That’s what made your relationship work so well. You truly cared for one another.
Johnny laid down beside you and pushed his face into your neck. When you first met him, you were surprised to learn that he could stand up for himself and you if he had to. You found it kind of scary to see him pull a switchblade on someone but you also found it endearing, oddly enough.
You felt his arms snake around your waist and you let one of your hands slide down to intertwine with one of the hand’s on your waist. Your smile never ceased a bit throughout the entire ordeal.
Soon enough, Johnny’s breaths were even. You realized he hadn’t spoken more than one word yet you felt loved and comfortable in that moment.
You continued to smile until a random cramp attacked and you remembered why you wanted him to come over so badly.
Steve Randle:
You cuddled into Steve with a frown on your face. “Just give me a bite and stop being so greedy.” You huffed as Steve finally lifted his fork to share some of his chocolate cake. You grinned and nuzzled closer to him.
He had an arm around you, gripping you tightly and was eating with his free hand. You were surprised to see that he could do that as when you tried, you usually fucked up whatever you had going on.
Your loving boyfriend stayed with you while the rest of the gang went out. Darry was working, Sodapop was off for the day, Ponyboy wanted to watch a movie and so did Johnny. Two-bit and Dally decided they didn’t have anything better to do and went with. You told Steve that he could go with them but he claimed that you needed him more than they did.
Which lead to you almost laying in his lap and the two of you arguing over the chocolate cake that sat beside him. “You’re so pretty, ya know that?” Steve suddenly muttered as he looked at you.
“Oh, don’t you dare. We both know that won’t stop me from getting more of the cake. Besides, I’m bleeding out right now so just give me the cake.” Steve pondered for a moment before finally giving you another bite. You made sure to bat your eyelashes at him as you knew he would give in almost immediately.
You pushed yourself further onto Steve’s lap and shoved your face into his neck. He smelt like car oil and something else. You couldn’t quite identify it but it was your newest favorite smell. Everything about Steve drove you mad. Especially now that sex was off the table for a week.
Well, more like it was off the table for him. Steve was perfectly fine with diving into it like you weren’t rapidly losing blood from that area. “It’ll get better. It always does, baby.” He pressed a quick kiss to your head. You curled in closer to him. Everything about him made you feel so very safe. You didn’t think you’d be able to survive without him especially since Bob and Randy had been staring at you like you were their next snack the last few days.
Steve had found you multiple times curled in the corner of the DX, breathing heavy and holding yourself. It made Steve more protective. On top of that, he just hated seeing you in extreme pain. He hated that he couldn’t fix what you were currently going through. He’d do whatever you’d want him to do if it eases the pain you felt.
Dallas Winston:
Dally watched as you sobbed on the bed. You couldn’t get diagnosed with anything but the pain you were feeling were horrible. It had been ten or twelve hours since you started your period and it still felt just as bad as it had when it first started.
Dally was confused and genuinely didn’t know what to do. He wanted to help you but he didn’t grow up with any girls so he didn’t know what to do. He offered you water and you almost lunged at him. You had to remind yourself that it wasn’t his fault. He was just a little clueless about feminine issues.
Dally sat down beside you, shrugging his leather jacket off and setting it down on your hunched over body. You let out another pained sob and Dally finally stood up and left the room. He would call Soda or Darry. They’d know what to do with a woman in pain. Dally never witnessed you in extreme pain as you usually avoided him whenever your period came around. You didn’t know if he would react childishly or not and you didn’t want to find out either.
As it seems, Dally never made fun of you. If anything, he’s been in as much emotional distress as you were in physical pain. Dally grabbed the phone and called the Curtis household, impatiently waiting for someone to answer.
Darry’s tired voice came through the phone. Dallas immediately began explaining his situation and Darry gave him some advice about what to do. Dallas was quick to hang the phone up and get back to you. You were sleeping in an awkward position, tear stains on your face.
Dallas sat on the bed beside you, stroking your face. Maybe some sleep would do you good. Dallas looked around for a second, trying to see if anyone was nearby.
He leaned down and whispered a quick “I love you,” and pressed a quick kiss to the top of your head. You subconsciously curled closer into his leather jacket, forcing a smirk out of your boyfriend.
You were the cutest.
Two-Bit Mathews:
Two-Bit sat on the floor with an arm thrown over your shoulder. He had a beer in his left hand while his right hand gently played with your hair. You were close to crying for no particular reason other than you felt like you wanted to cry.
Two-Bit wasn’t paying a lot of attention to you. He wasn’t hearing everything you were saying and you were repeating words over and over. You finally smacked Two-Bit’s shoulders.
He turned to look at you with a bewildered look covering his face. “What’d I do?” You gave him a dirty look.
“You’re ignoring me again. Why?” You finally glared at him. You elbowed him in the ribs gently. You couldn’t blame Two-Bit as you were the one to ask his alcoholic ass out. You finally laid your head on his shoulder.
“I’m not?” He muttered out as he finally brought you closer to him. He kissed your head and made sure to remind himself that you’re just probably in pain or maybe you were just a little emotional. He knew what time of the month it was and told himself you’d be fine. Besides, he tracked your period too. He knew that you only had about a day left. Unfortunately, you got random pain throughout the entire five days of your period.
You slowly grabbed his beer from his hand and sat it down beside the two of you. You were a huge cuddle bug when you weren’t on your period but being on it caused you to become almost inseparable with Two-Bit.
Two-Bit didn’t mind much. He enjoyed the way you stuck to him like glue. The two of you weren’t very touchy feely but you both had your times where you were completely involved with each other.
Two-Bit would aimlessly follow you, a beer close by along with watching Mickey Mouse if there was a tv. You got off of Two-Bit as the door opened and sat down above him on the couch. Ponyboy and Johnny came in, looking at the two of you and then went to the kitchen.
Two-Bit sighed and grabbed your legs, setting them on his shoulders. He reached a hand up, offering you his beer. You took a sip before handing Two-Bit his beer back.
He looked up at you for a mere second and you caught his eyes and gave him a gentle smirk. “I want something to eat.” You batted your eyelashes again before frowning at your boyfriend.
Finally, you gave a small smile as you remembered that Two-Bit was yours and even if he was a bit stupid, you still loved him dearly.

Pokémon scarlet and violet and its theme of isolation and overcoming that feeling
So I don’t know if people have pointed this out or not but I noticed with the main characters of Pokemon sv, they suffer from some type of isolation. This will only focus on the main characters which are Arven, Nemona, Penny, Kieran, and Carmine. This will discuss events of scarlet and violet and its dlc so spoilers will be in this post. I apologize ahead of time for my poor wording as I’m not good at putting my thoughts into words. (I also apologize if this theme was obvious and I just sound like an idiot for noticing it now)
Tl;dr the main characters suffer from some kind of isolation whether it’s visible or hidden
The most obvious one to notice in my opinion is Arven, first I’d argue he suffers from physical isolation as growing up, sometimes the one parent he has isn’t even home most of the time and at the very least had mabosstif. He has no parents in his life and the one that partially is, is now dead. Next from the way Arven latches onto the player later on especially when seeing how he acts in mochi mayhem and how he seems kind of jealous of the players new found friendship with Kieran. This to me also shows he doesn’t have any friends either (I believe he even says mabosstif is his only friend which is kinda sad). So in short Arven has no support figures besides mabosstif, but he doesn’t truly have any human connections. That is until he makes friends with the player, Nemona, and penny
Penny is the second one that I noticed, like Arven, she also suffers from physical isolation by locking herself in her room. She’s suffered from bullying which would obviously lead to isolation and has probably caused her to close herself off from everything, but at least she has her friends at team star right? Although she does, when she first was friends with them, her identity was anonymous. She knows and connects with team star but they will never truly know and connect with her until later events which finally allow her to bridge the gap.
For the next one, I’m going to skip Nemona for last and put the kitakami siblings into this one section (also this one relies the most on speculation since we don’t know exactly what their experiences were). Unlike Arven and Penny, both of them don’t suffer from physical isolation but mentally. Carmine and Kieran have both grew up in a remote village for most of their life until attending blueberry academy. The isolation they must have felt must have been staggering. Although from the sounds of it they eventually were able to find solid ground via the league club. Now with Carmine and her prickly attitude, that might have caused her to push others away and keep to herself at times (I admit I’m speculating, I wish the dlc was longer DX). As for Kiki, I admit it’s a lot more easier for me to speculate because I relate to him more I feel you get more insight into his character compared to Carmine sorry Carmine. He is a lot more introverted and shy compared to his sister and I bet his love for the ogre led him to being a bit of a social outcast and moving to blueberry academy most likely didn’t help with him, even just feeling like he was, an outcast, plus his already bad self worth. When he meets the player, he is still very shy but seems ecstatic to finally having a friend to talk to… until you have to lie to him. I could go on an essays worth on how Kieran’s self worth and paranoia caused him to quickly think he’s being betrayed and see himself as unworthy of the player’s friendship but that’s another story and this paragraph is already getting long enough already. By losing his friendship with the player, he further isolated himself from others and it’s even worse in the indigo disk. He now isolates himself by being a ruthless champion with everyone afraid to confront him. Now he’s not alone from being a shy outcast but instead from being champion and hiding his already fragile heart with thorns. Ignore the poeticism of that last line lmao and yep this section with Kieran is of course the longest. however while both were able to find some solace in the league club, I’d argue they were able to truly open with the help of the player especially Kieran who learned to accept himself as he is.
Now finally Nemona and one I find the most fascinating because she isn’t as visibly isolated as the others and admittedly is the reason I wanted to write this. First I’d like to point out something I think people forget often, just because people seem to have a great social life and friends doesn’t mean they don’t feel lonely. Nemona is champion rank, student council president, and is overall a star student. However because she’s at the top, some people are intimidated by her and in one area convo she mentioned how someone refused to battle her because she’s a champion and battle wiz that would wreck him. Then in another area convo, she laments over people thinking that battling is natural to her and ignoring the genuine hard work that she puts into her skills. And in her final convo in her dorm room, for this I’ll just copy and paste the quote from bulbapedia and let it speak for itself.
"People would tell me to my face that I'd only managed it 'cause I have some innate gift, or 'cause I was raised differently, or whatever. And suddenly I started to feel like there was this invisible wall between me and everyone else."
(Also I was also going to add more info from the scarlet and violet novel “after the rain with you” but it hasn’t been officially translated and the only translation I found was via google translate so I decided to take it with a grain of salt and not and any info despite it having the most insight on Nemona’s character imo, if you want to take a look here’s the link)
Despite being the at the top being up there can get pretty lonely… until she met the player and had someone standing right beside her.
Anyways if you’ve read this far then thanks. This was longer than I thought it would be as I mainly typed this in one go only taking a break to do more research for Nemona’s section so sorry again if it seemed kinda rambling at times.
Edit to add: rereading this I realized that Kieran and carmine in fact do suffer from physical isolation as they live in a remote region that resembles a traditional Japanese village which could add some cultural isolation. Another type of isolation I didn’t think about was class isolation(is that even a term?) coming from Nemona as she comes from a wealthy family which could also adds to the gap between her peers. I guess I didn’t think about it like that since in comparison Arven and penny’s situation is what would usually come to mind when you think of the word isolation, my bad.
#can you tell I love this game and its characters a little too much :D#did I really write an entire essay from one theme I noticed?#yes yes I did#edit: I realize how many flaws were in my essay but that’s why retrospection is a good thing#pokemon sv#pokémon scarlet and violet#pokemon arven#arven pokemon#pokemon penny#penny pokemon#carmine pokemon#pokemon carmine#pokemon kieran#kieran pokemon#nemona pokemon#pokemon nemona

Reverse au (socs and greasers reversed)
Cherry- greaser girl with a single father who’s pretty busy but cherishes her a lot. She’s able to befriend most people, but she gets harassed a lot because… she’s a girl. She kind of take pony’s role
Bob- greaser whose parents both work a lot, so they aren’t there for him to give him attention, so he’s an adrenaline junkie as well as an alcoholic. He works at the DX and is always drag racing people
Randy- greaser whose parents are way too strict. He’s got younger siblings and a job, his parents are always pressuring him to do more. He works at the DX with Bob and is usually the one to pull him away from fights (greaser Randy is less of a follower because he knows Bob is in more danger if he lets Bob do whatever)
Marcia- her parents both work as well, but her mom is around more. Her mom is kind of doped up and isn’t there for her. Her dad used to hurt her but ever since Cherrys dad let her stay at their house, she barely goes home and it’s stopped ever since Marcia got taller (aka able to defend herself better) she is dating Randy but honestly he’s just her friend. She feels bad about it.
Paul: Cherrys cousin on her mom’s side. He takes Darry’s role and is very protective of her as well. He wanted to go to college, but can’t obviously. He’s the leader of their gang, but he feels like he’s somehow betraying them by being in love with Darry. He’s Paul still, so he’s kind of arrogant and assumes he knows more than other people. He’s obsessed with “shortcuts” and “work smarter not harder” and often gets in trouble for this
Darry- Sox who is currently in college. He isn’t around a lot even though his parents are dead (soda and pony are left with a nanny who comes around three times a week to check on them and report to Darry. Darry also calls every day to check on them) he’s a likeable guy but he is still in love with Paul. He has romps with Tim sometimes but he’s very conflicted. He does LIKE Tim but Tim is far from Paul m. It doesn’t help that twobit gets wrapped up in this sometimes too. Darry’s head is about to split open sometimes.
Soda- Soc who didn’t drop out, but he’s still failing all his classes. This upsets Darry a lot, but soda could care less. He’s very popular and throws parties a lot, which makes Darry very upset. Soda doesn’t think college is important, but he also knows that he doesn’t get a choice and no matter how bad he does, he’s going to end up there. So he doesn’t try too hard and just has fun.
Pony- soc who is a smart cookie. Basically the same tbh, perhaps a bit less traumatized from the basic environment. He loves talking to greasers because Darry said not to.
Johnny- Sox who is still abused, it’s just hidden now. His parents actually care about public perception so they act like a loving family in public and at events. They both tell Johnny he sucks and isn’t good enough to be their only son. Johnny takes this to heart a lot and it makes him try harder at school (but it stresses him out so he does worse)
Dally- soc whose dad is a big time lawyer who doesn’t act like a father. Dally is left to run wild and jump greasers (he also gets with greaser girls sometimes because he’s not supposed to sully soc girls) dally is failing most of his classes but somehow gets a’s every semester (his dad pays the school) he’s besties with tim and they jump greasers together. They don’t have the same relationship as they do as greasers because i think it’s less acceptable for civilized boys to beat each other up like that. Instead they both were in the boxing team in highschool and made sure to stay in the same weight class lmfao
Steve- soc with absent single father, Steve has a car hobby. He’s got two cars and they’re both super expensive. The cars are his babies and his dad pays him a lot more when he upsets Steve now. Steve has one super nice car he drives his friends around in and one that he keeps in the garage and obsesses over. He likes to jump greasers but not with soda because sometimes soda feels bad about it 💔
Twobit- soc, his dad didn’t leave, he’s just always on business trips. His mother is a socialite who is always bragging about him, even if there’s nothing to brag about. He’s an alcoholic whose parents paid for him to not have to retake junior year. Despite this, he’s a fun guy and everyone likes him, even greasers. He’s very non discriminatory (and is lowkey in love with Darry) He helps his buddies if they get jumped but he won’t jump a greaser unless he has a reason (like a vendetta against one specific greaser who keeps exchanging eyes with Darry)
Tim- stepdad is also on business trips a lot, his mother is classy old money. His family has ties to the Italian mafia on his mother’s side. Tim (like Paul in the series) didn’t go to college and instead works for his father’s company and is already making a shit ton of money at 18. He likes to scare greaser girls and children. Sometimes he revs his engine super loud around greaser girls to make them shriek. He likes darry and romps around with him but he’s aware of the way Darry looks at Paul. He HATES Paul and tries to hit him with his car sometimes
Angela- most popular girl in school. She ruins relationships and makes girls insecure. She shoves cherry and Marcia around sometimes and bullies them in the locker room. She doesn’t actually have anything against them, she just has a lot of built up frustration inside. She’s still awful to them. She tried to steal Bob 😭 but he didn’t gaf about her and she got embarrassed
Curly- He’s always getting arrested but somehow has no criminal record. He likes to jump people ofc because he’s curly but nobody takes him seriously because he always jumps weak people. He knows he isn’t that scary. He struggles in school and his mom threatens to send him to boarding school when he pisses her off (this sets his straight for two days before he’s back on his bs)
Evie- pretty soc girl that is always wearing the newest and most expensive clothing. Incredibly spoiled but not a total jerk
Sylvia- soc girl that’s always with a new guy, usually bounces between Tim and dally. Her focus in this au is more along the lines of picking the best husband because her parents have basically groomed her into a trophy wife position
Buck- daddy’s boy. Very spoiled. His father runs a successful beer company and Buck holds an important position there. He’s Sylvia’s cousin like always and is trying to keep Dallas and Tim AWAY
Sandy- Soc girl that is incredibly eager to become a mother. She’s a typical “good Christian girl” and gen believes this is the best she can do

ik we get ponyboys perspective of wut happened to darry after his parents died (most literally the book) but wut do u think was sodas perspective of watching darry before their parents died as the most popular guy in school/going to college then essentially have to become and be stuck as the one thing darry most obviously did not want to be (stuck in tulsa/ not gt college)
darrys life is underrated tragedy fr
Before I get into this complete devastation I want to direct you to this post! Not exactly the same, but it made me want to walk into traffic 🥰
So anyway, this was super interesting to consider. I imagine Soda definitely looking up to Darry as the stud, the golden child, literally just the coolest guy ever. He had Soc friends, he had greaser friends, and could square up with pretty much anyone who was dumb enough to want the equivalent of a baseball bat to the jaw.
And on top of that, Darry was on a one-track train out of Tulsa, heading out to college soon. In Soda’s eyes, Darry had everything and he was real damn happy with it.
So when all of their lives just crashed around them, Soda obviously had his own problems to deal with before he took notice of anyone else’s. But when his own dust settled and he could see a little more clearly, the change in Darry was definitely obvious. For the first month or so, Darry was just kind of numb. He went through all the necessary proceedings stoically, robotically, never let Soda in on anything regarding child services or the state or boys homes. Sometimes, when they were sitting at the table trying to eat Darry’s best efforts at recipes from their mom’s cookbook, and Pony was too stuck in his own grief moving his food around the plate with his fork, Soda watched Darry get a blank look in his eyes, like he’s staring at something that doesn’t exist, completely detached from reality.
(Soda’s always known that Pony and Darry are more similar than either of them think. Just not in the good ways.)
And for a little, it happened often. Darry comes home from work and sits down in their dad’s recliner, and Soda’s watching the television but in his peripheral he can see Darry drift off to someplace else, and all he can hope is that it’s someplace better.
Soda noticed all the little things. He didn’t smile to himself, didn’t laugh, didn’t tell Pony or Soda to put out their cigs around him, because it didn’t much anymore if he breathed the smoke in. He didn’t talk about his day more than a dismissive wave and that it was fine, he didn’t go out in the evenings.
Darry was against it the entire time, but Soda dropping out of high school seemed to be the thing that officially made him grown in Darry’s eyes. Darry finally pulled him aside when Pony was asleep and together they went through their grocery list, Darry teaching him how to shop cheap, but he always kept things like the bills far away from Soda’s eyes. Soda offered Darry money from the DX, Darry took it, and their lights stayed on and water kept running, but Soda doesn’t know what’s really going on with the numbers. Only Darry does.
Soda knows he’s always been protected by Darry. Since they were little, and even months ago, if Soda ever had any issues with anyone, Darry had his back. Soda didn’t think he was naive about much of anything, but he realizes pretty quickly that Darry will never let anyone have his back the way he does everyone else. Sure, Darry can lean on him, but he’ll be right back to the grind the second he can.
Seeing Darry go from wearing his college sweatshirt into town to his battered work clothes and tool belt placed a guilt in Soda’s heart that he couldn’t ever shake. The worst part was that he never complained about it, not to them. Soda’s beyond grateful to Darry, he’ll never make up for it for as long as he lives. But at the same time he just wants his brother back, and he knows it’ll never happen.
The more I write about Soda the more I love him, ty for helping give my guy some justice🙏 (i hope this is kind of what u wanted to hear abt, sorry if i just yapped in ur ear abt nothing lmfao)

Steve Randle General Headcanons
I surprisingly have a lot of headcanons for him! He actually won the poll so here he is :) The guy we all have to write because he had like 2 things about him!
Warnings: Spoilers, Mentions of abuse, Misogyny by his dad, Some angst
Steve just hates coffee. He hates the bitterness and everything. But sometimes Evie’s parents make chocolate cake, with coffee flavored icing. Steve has fallen to this trick more times than he can count and almost always ends up excusing himself to the bathroom and spitting it out in the toilet.
When he and Soda were younger, Soda actually had a relatively large friend group. They were really good friends but several times Steve felt very insecure about whether or not they were really best friends. But Soda turned to him the most, Steve was the first one to hear about him dropping out, Steve helped tutor him, they hung out most afterschool. So eventually they were never seen apart. And Steve realized that Soda really was his best friend.
The manager of the DX is very supportive of their dreams and has given Steve some tips on starting a business. He knows that they will lose money whenever the two leave and probably lose even more when they start it up, but he doesn’t care. He wants to give the world to the next generation and give them a chance in life. He’s also sure that some other car genius will work their way into the DX one day.
When they were in early middle school, Steve and him were best friends but whenever Steve was run out of the house he didn’t go to the Curtis house because he didn’t want to trouble them. So he would quietly get up and onto his roof. Then just fall asleep under the stars.
Whenever he was run out he would also not really have much access to food and this guy needs to eat breakfast or he starts getting sick. So whenever he and Soda would go to school he would just be shaking from nausea and have a very vocal stomach. One day, Steve wasn’t let back in his house for 3 days and Soda caught on once Steve passed out in front of him. Mr.Curtis came to pick him up and assured him it was no problem and let him and Soda have a sleepover of sorts for the next couple days. From then on they left one of the windows unlocked just in case.
Steve, as many have decided, is actually quite school smart. He especially excels at science and math. He enjoys most aspects of science but especially the hands-on stuff. With math he mainly studies for it because he knows it will serve him well in engineering.
Steve really wants to open a car shop to fix cars and stuff but he also really wants to try and become an engineer and try to create better cars. But he doesn’t have much hope in being able to go and actually study engineering since there is almost no way he can pay for it and he doubts he would ever get a scholarship.
Him and Dallas probably have the most hatred for the Socs. He has grown to hate how he can have dreams but that’s all they’re probably going to be, dreams. While the socs can chase whatever they want because they have a shot. They have a chance in life. And that’s not fair. Then they have the AUDACITY to come and harm greasers. They could be using that chance in life, but no! They come over to harm his buddies!
He knows all the inner workings of cars and their bodies and their inventors and everything! You ask something about your car’s engine and suddenly he goes onto a rant about how this engine was originally and Henry Ford’s help in the engineering of engines like this and- He’s learned to dial it down once he saw how annoyed people started getting. Soda enjoys hearing him go on these tangents and Evie does as well.
Steve helps out Johnny a lot and will give him a sandwich or something and let him sit at the DX. Johnny has heard all about Steve’s dream shop and actually helped him try and come up with a name and sign design for it. They’re both mediocre artists but it turned out pretty nice!
Steve is absolutely terrified of the cops. He has read about different things they did in history that were bad (Everything that happened during segregation) and knows how quickly they are to accuse greasers. It didn’t help that his father tells him each time he is run out he better not tell the cops or they’ll take him away and give him a worse beating than his dad ever will.
He knows Soda is extremely forgetful and has to remind him of some of the most random things. His pants? Almost forgot them on the drying line. His shoes? They were under the couch after they played a game with them. His homework? He taped it to the ceiling to see if he could focus better. A lot of school mornings were spent with Steve and Soda tracing his actions to find said items.
Him and Two-Bit are also really good friends. Steve and him work on Two’s old car and Two-Bit likes to prank him a lot. One time, Steve was going to help replace the steering wheel and Two-Bit brought one out. Frozen in a block of ice. Two-Bit was dying on the floor laughing while Steve tried to hide his grin. How does Two-Bit do this? We don’t ask.
His dad is a very masculine guy and HATES Evie. He hates Evie for all the reasons Steve loves her. She is fiery and has a quick wit. Which Steve’s dad hates because he thinks it's disrespectful to talk back, especially when a girl does it. Evie wears shorts or pants a lot because she works repairing household appliances. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty. Which also goes against his dad’s views. Evie knows this. So whenever she and Steve walk by his house she will bridal carry him just to spite his dad.
Steve has rather wavy hair and usually combs it to be that way (which is indeed canon) but it gets really tangled really easily. Soda likes styling hair when he’s bored but he can never style Steve’s because Steve is the only one who knows how to comb his hair without the comb getting stuck. (Those were a fun 30 minutes for Mrs. Curtis)
To those who don’t know him, Steve is not in any way a nice person. He can be very snappy and rude to strangers.
Him and Evie are a power couple and complement each other extremely well. They are both mechanical geniuses, Evie is as energetic as he is but can also bring him down to earth, Steve is one of few who can calm her down before she goes off on someone, and they are just in love with each other. Steve can be very lovey-dovey with her and she can match that but in general Steve is much more prominent with physical affection. Evie has a bracelet that says Stevie and wears it everyday.
Steve really likes almonds, it's his favorite snack. Especially honey-roasted ones.
Him, Johnny, and Soda were the original trio in the gang. Then as they got older they gained Dally and just kind of mushed with Two and Darry. Now they have the Curtis gang :)
Steve didn’t like Pony at first because Soda put a lot of his attention on PB. But eventually he continued to find Pony annoying at all ages. He still cares about him though. Steve is his older brother with the more common “You’re the most annoying person I’ve ever met.” outlook on him.
Steve has so many random abilities and it kind of freaks Soda and Evie out. Like one time they were all hanging out (Sandy was there too) and he was dared to try Evie’s platform heels and he was able to dance in them. Through these games it has also been discovered he can:
Write really well with both hands
Balance spoons on his face
Use chopsticks with his mouth
He and Evie actually really liked Sandy and felt utterly betrayed when they found out about her. Sandy was Evie’s best friend. Steve barely knew what to do for Soda. It was just so out of character for her.
When Johnny and Dally died, he didn't show too much emotion. He cried, he grieved with the rest of the gang, but overall he didn't feel much. Until he found the design him and Johnny did for the shop. Soda found him at the DX, sobbing on the ground next to this crappy drawing. So he sat next to him and cried with him, listening to Steve sputter out "He never had a chance! None of us do! Them Socs ar-are using them all up! With no gratitude! We'll never know what he could've done!"
"I know Steve, I know."
"Soda...What are we going to do now?"

Getting DX as a covert system
This is my experience, take it only as one persons story.
If you are interested in some resources/educational material, there is a link at the bottom of my Pinned.
My current therapist is how I got my diagnosis. Though she wasn't the first to bring up DID to me, which I aggressively shot down every time. Because... well it couldn't be. I would know if I had DID, surely?
Surely. Surely, I might have been more open to it if a lot of what I thought were normal experiences were explained to me better. How was I supposed to know that “voices” didn’t mean only external auditory hallucinations? How was I supposed to know “voices” were me talking out loud to myself only to be cut-off by another me’s reply? How was I supposed to know “fake it til you make it” wasn’t telling yourself you would simply turn off your anxiety and just be another person. How was I supposed to know how much of my memories are missing? If they’re missing, how the hell would I know? How was I supposed to know about traumas if I hadn't found the evidence yet?
I could have been asked all day long about DID symptoms and never would have given answers on this about voices, altered ego states, amnesia, early childhood trauma. Because.. how was I supposed to know?
Slowly through therapies, the word “dissociation” started coming up more and more to me but even then, wasn't fully explained to the spectrum it presents on. Next was “okay well I experience almost all parts of this dissociative spectrum but the only thing I don't relate to is the Alters” because, well… a lot of those first questions had not been clarified yet.
My current therapist brought up DID a few months into our sessions but it wasn't until a year of treatment I admitted to and opened up about my symptoms. Their reactions was a bit of we’ll it's about time lol.
And even with much more awareness of symptoms, the assessments ask questions that can put my scores lower due to my lifestyle.
How often do friends or family tell you things you did but don't remember? : 0/10. I do not socialize or visit family. How often do symptoms interfere with work/relationships ? : 0/10. I am disabled and cannot work. How often debilitating are XYZ symptoms? : lower than most probably. I have very good mastery on a lot of symptom management and skills use.
Things like that.
The point in the last part is the importance of a clinicians training to interpret these assessments + experience with the client face-to-face, as well as differential diagnosis. High scores do not mean you certainly have a disorder. Low scores also dont mean you don’t, either.
Online free reading and assessment is the only resource available to many, so they aren’t not valuable. But to always keep in mind that the results are not set in stone signs of having a disorder. More important is identifying your symptoms and learning what works for you in treating or managing those because at the end of that day, that matters far beyond the name of a disorder diagnosis.

Life Preserver - Ace and Sodapop Drabble
Soda thought he’d never been more thankful for Ace than during those dreaded days in high school. He was failing nearly every subject and was so sick of being made out to be stupid. Constantly ridiculed by socs, teachers, and even his own brothers. That hurt more than anything.
But Ace was wicked smart. She could have been an honor student if she tried, but she didn’t try. Instead, she opted for putting in the minimum effort required to pass every class. Floating through life as if she was trying to stay above it all. Soda understood, you had to do that sometimes living on the East side. But how Soda was jealous. He was jealous that Ace's version of not trying was better than his maximum effort.
Though, through it all, he was grateful for her. There were times she had sat with him after school in the library. Ever so patient as she helped him with English, Soda growing more frustrated as the letters rolled around the page. She told him he was smart, despite everyone’s insistence that he wasn’t. But that was always Ace, wasn’t it? Making you believe in things that seemed so far off and impossible.
Soda thought he’d never be more grateful for her then as she stuck by during those dark days of high school.
But then his parents died and Soda seemed to have so many problems in him that not even Ace could fix. He thought things would never get better. But Ace had just held him and helped him through. She would ditch school to come to the DX during his shifts. They entertained each other but Soda had a sneaky feeling that he knew what Ace was doing. She was keeping his mind occupied, keeping him from being swallowed up by that black pit that seemed to follow him as soon as his parents died.
She stayed most nights now on the Curtis couch. Whether or not things were bad at home or she was just trying to be close he didn’t know, but he was grateful nonetheless.
One Saturday, they were walking to Soda’s 10:00 shift at the DX. Ace had opted to come, Steve was at Evies and Soda knew that she didn’t like to go home to her aunt's house alone. Especially on the weekend. They were both uncharacteristically silent, kicking a rock back and forth as they walked.
That’s when the question slipped out.
“Am I doing enough?” Soda doesn’t know what makes him say it. It probably has something to do with the fact that ever since his parents death, he'd been constantly wired up with exhaustion and fear that at any moment his family will be ripped apart. Ace turns to look at him with a confused look that might be amused if it wasn’t so sad.
“Whatchu mean Soda? You know us greasers do everything we can to get by and you’re no exception.” She spoke with such sureness that marveled him.
Soda was never the kind of person to feel inadequate. He usually walked with a certain ease and confidence that was hard for anyone else to match. He just wasn't in the habit of looking nervous or beaten down. But he was in the habit of spilling his guts to Ace.
“It’s just… is there more I can be doing? I just feel like I’m not doing enough.” Ace gave him another pointed look, wringing her hands together.
“Soda… there’s always more us greasers can be doing. Even the things we do end up doing will never be enough. It’s not enough for the socs, it’s not enough for the teachers or adults, most days, it’s not even enough for us.” She lets out a short laugh, Ace knows the score, more than anyone Soda’s ever met. “But we make do, we try to enjoy our lives. And no matter what, we’ll always have each other and that’s enough for me.” Soda can’t help thinking that if he’d brought this up with anyone else, it would be different.
Darry would end up giving him a to-do list of things he could be doing. Ponyboy would fill him with meaningless consolations, not really knowing what he means. Steve would laugh it off, assuming it was a joke, filling the next moments with empty talk.
But Ace… Ace was different because she got it. She had always gotten it. More than anyone he’d known. She always knew what to say. How to set him straight when his head was foggy and he couldn’t see five inches in front of him.
Ace was the one that helped him with school when he was failing every class. Ace was the one that had kept him from going crazy after his parents died. Ace was the one that had pulled him off guys in rumbles when he was really hurting them and made sure he got home on time and kept him entertained during long shifts that would be sure to leave him trapped in his head.
While Ace didn’t always fix the problem, she would always throw him a life preserver when he was drowning in a storming ocean.
And for that, he would forever be grateful.

Pt. 1 of Random Sodapop headcannons bcz why tf not
I don’t have these thought out in advance I’m js writing as I go so i take full blame for mistakes and shit
- He totally has a high pitched girly scream
- Yk how Pony commented on his spelling in the letter? Well news flash: Soda cannot spell for his life.
- His handwriting is a messsss
- Him n Dal have a shared fear of spiders and they totally got trapped in a room together with a spider one time and were screaming at each other to kill it
- He’s like SO oblivious you can full on shove a pickup line right in his face and he won’t realise your flirting until you outright say “I’m flirting with you.”
- He did go to Vietnam after the books events but he DIDN’T die bcz i said so😊
- Food colouring in everything he cooks. If it’s not food colouring, it’s mixing the most weird ass food combinations. It was already mentioned me made green pancakes, well, some of his other favourites were his pink muffins, blue potato mash and purple roast.
- All of the above (and most things he cooks) taste like absolute dog shit, but his brothers eat it to make him happy (Soda actually enjoys it)
- He gets bored way too easily and can’t sit still for his life
- He genuinely loves the snow and will spend hours in it without even realising he’s cold, but the moment Darry drags him back inside he basically collapses in the couch
- He’s totally sick all Christmas season, like, the reddest nose you’ve seen and sniffling all day which he loves complaining about, but the moment someone actually takes him seriously he’s all like “no I’m fine don’t worry about me”
- He totally uses his fingers for math but them moment he doesn’t have enough fingers he’s screwed
- Whenever he has to write out checks (what’s a check? don’t ask me i don’t think i used the right word) or whatever you call it where you like write the (receipt? the bill?) the amount something costs for the customers at the DX he just gives it to Steve bcz he A) can’t do math and B) can’t spell and C) his handwriting looks like a dog spewed its guts everywhere
- He he totally the type of guy to be watching a horror movie with his friends and then be laughing at everyone who’s scared but the moment he actually looks at the screen there’s a massive jumpscare and he screams soo loud
- you could send him to get the groceries, and instead he’ll come back with every weird trinket he finds OTHER than what’s on teh shopping list
- he was totally part of the Ponyboy naming team, like, he was so obsessed with horses that he kept asking for a horse and so his parents told him “you’re getting a little brother, not a horse” and then he started saying Ponyboy
- when they used to attend church, pony would be half asleep, Darry would be sitting, listening, but soda would be basically bursting at the seams and end up making the randoms most off topic comments
- and when his brothers didn’t react to that he’d start elbowing them and trying to get their attention but just end up getting told off
- the same thing basically happened in school too
- He’s lactose intolerant which is technically kind of canon bcz it was in a fanfic the S.E. Hilton herself wrote
- He’s also totally one of those people who will have the randomest allergic reaction and brush it off like it’s fine even though he’s practically anaphylactic or sum shit
I’ve written too much but yall are totally getting a part two heheheh

Darry x Fem!reader. They go out on a nice date but Y/n is wearing smth a lil revealing...maybe a little spice in there, but I understand if you don't want to write that 😅
i love this idea! thank you for the request!!
i have limited experience/comfort with writing spicier things, but i gave it a go. i'd say it's more a fluffy/suggestive vibe than spicy. i added in some little details about red lipstick, lol. i hope you like it <3
staring respectfully
even a perfect gentleman can be tempted
DarryxFem!reader. wc: 1523. flirty and suggestive date night between established partners. no real content warnings.
“Aaannndd, perfect!” you said to yourself as you finished lining your top lip with red lipstick.
You had just enough time to adjust your dress and give the mirror a final look before Darry was supposed to pick you up. He said he’d be there at 7:30 sharp. And you knew it would be exactly 7:30 sharp because he’s never late, especially to pick you up for a date night.
“Keys, wallet, lipstick” you run through the list of items to throw in your purse before the doorbell interrupts you. 7:29pm, of course, he’s running early because he’s excited.
Regular date nights are not so regular with you and Darry, mostly because he works all the time and money…well it’s not exactly unlimited. But when you two do get the chance to go out, it’s really special. Or as special as it can be on the east side of Tulsa. You guys have a favorite spot, a little diner, that’s more than the Tastee Freez but not exactly the ritz. It didn’t matter though because Darry could make you feel special anywhere.
“Coming!” you call down the hall, hoping he’ll hear you as you slip on a pair of black heels and start walking.
You paused before opening the door, just for a moment. You wanted to collect yourself and look a little more poised before Darry saw you. What he didn’t yet know is that you’d gone out of your way to doll up for this date night. It’d been a few weeks since you were able to go out and you’d both been flat broke around his birthday, so you wanted to make it special now that there was the time and money for a night out. New dress, new shoes, new lipstick.
Red. Wine red lipstick. Nothing too flashy, but it would definitely catch his eye.
“Hey, Y/N—oh shit!” Darry exclaimed as you opened the door, “pardon my french, sweetheart, I’m sorry.”
Slam dunk, hole in one, mission accomplished. In the first two seconds, you knew he loved it.
“Is everything alright?” you asked him in a giggly tone. He took a few steps back to let you fully out of the door and turn around to lock it behind you.
“Oh, most definitely,” he said, wrapping an arm around your waist as you twisted the key in the lock.
“Well you looked like you’d seen a ghost there for a second," you teased him.
“I just—you look amazing, it took me by surprise…not that you don’t always look amazing, it’s just—is that a new dress?” he stammered.
“Tripping over your words tonight, Curtis?” you teased again as you turned around in his arms, “yes, it’s a new dress. I wanted tonight to be special since, you know, it’s been awhile since we’ve been out.”
“Well…I…yeah, let’s go out then,” he replied, gesturing towards the truck without taking his eyes off you.
All the way to the car you could feel him watching you. He was normally so put together and sure-spoken. You’d definitely taken Darryl Curtis Jr. by surprise tonight and he was not going to waste a single moment’s opportunity to take it all in.
Ever the perfect gentleman, he opened the truck’s passenger door and helped you climb in. You were sure-footed in heels, but he always helped you up into the truck no matter what you’re wearing. Once you were seated, you could immediately tell that he’d put in his own kind of effort for the evening. The truck was freshly cleaned, tools taken out of the bed, seats even looked vacuumed. Soda and Steve must have done him a solid at the DX before he came over.
That’s not to say his appearance was underwhelming in the slightest. As he started the engine, you admired the curve of his biceps peeking out from the sleeves of a freshly-ironed muscle tee. He was wearing his good jeans, the dark denim that fit him like a glove and had no holes. The best part, though: that one front curl of his greased dark hair fell effortlessly tousled along the middle of his forehead. It always looked, to you at least, like a special flair that someone put on a signature. Anyone could sign the name Darryl Curtis Jr., but could anyone else do that with such perfection? Probably not.
“Is that new lipstick too?” Darry asked you as he pulled up to a stoplight. He took his eyes off the road and fully took in your face, appreciating it the way he always does but with a glimmer in eye that made you feel like his whole world and then some.
“Yeah,” you replied, “I heard you tell the guys last week that you like red lipstick and I didn’t have any so I picked some up.”
He replied with a deep sigh and a playful smile as the truck lurched forward at the green light. Darry’s always a careful driver, but you could tell it was hard for him to focus on the rules of the road at the moment.
“So you’re eavesdropping on the gang’s locker room talk, huh?” Darry teased.
“It’s hardly eavesdropping when you’re all scream-talking in the living room and I’m six feet away in the kitchen,” you pointed out, “besides, aren’t you glad I overheard you say that?”
“Very glad,” he said as he put the truck in park down the street from the diner. He raised a gentle hand to your cheek, pulling you in for a soft kiss before getting out.
You got seated in the diner at your favorite booth, the one you and Darry always shared. Your red lips almost matched the color of the leather seats, like a picture in a magazine staged for perfection. Normally, he’s the type of guy who likes to sit next to his date on the same side of the booth, sling an around your shoulder, that kind of thing. But tonight he sat across from you, probably because the view was better.
“You two coming from some big party?” the waitress who always served you guys asked as she approached the table.
“You’re dressed to the nines tonight!” she added, turning to you.
“Oh no, ma’am,” Darry replied for you, “just taking my favorite girl out tonight.”
“Special occasion then?” the waitress asked in a playful tone.
“It’s always a special occasion with Y/N.” Darry said, making you blush a little.
He said it with a loving smile, never taking his eyes off you as he spoke to the waitress. If you’d have been on a date with any other man, any less respectful and upstanding man, the look he was giving you right now would have already escalated into a speedy trip to a private location. But not Darry. He wanted you, that was obvious, but he still had his morals.
“You’re doing a lot of talking with your eyes tonight,” you said to Darry after you’d both placed your orders and the waitress was safely out of earshot.
He cleared his throat and learned forward, extending his long arms across the table with hands outstretched and reaching for your own, “I could say the same about you. That dress is practically screaming at me.”
“Screaming what at you?” you giggled.
“I think you know,” he replied with a wink.
“Well,” you cocked your head to the side with a playful grin, “I think you should clarify because I was always taught that staring is rude.”
“Y/N,” he said slowly in a low tone, “I’m staring respectfully.”
“Oh what a perfect gentleman!” you teased.
“Even a perfect gentleman can be tempted,” he replied, “especially with a dress like that.”
The flirtation continued to escalate as the waitress came back with your food. Nothing special, but you were surprised that Darry ordered a beer. He doesn’t normally do that unless he’s nervous or…well, really wants to make sure he has a good time.
Once the dishes were cleared and the check paid, you two headed out of the dinner and into the fading Tulsa evening. Even the east side of the city could be charming at night, with the neon signs and other couples walking around, probably out for date night too. The Circle Cinema sign caught your eye as you walked hand in hand down the street.
“Maybe we could catch a movie,” you suggested, pointing at the marquee. The truck was in eyesight now, and his gaze darted from your face to the outline of its fender and back to you.
“Definitely not, darlin’” Darry replied, “we’re going home.”
“Why’s that?” you asked, “it’s still early, the night’s still young!”
“We’re going home,” he repeated, stopping and placing his two strong, calloused hands on your exposed shoulders, “because I’m tired of just staring respectfully at this dress.”
You giggled and grabbed his hand as you started walking again, “Respectfully, Curtis, I think I know what you mean.”
“Then get in this truck,” he said as he opened the door for you, “so we can go somewhere and get a little less respectful.”

random thing i wrote in my notes app once.. never finished ..uhhhhhhh..
The first time you meet the kid, he’s a sad puppy-lookin’ thing with the biggest eyes you’ve ever seen.
There’s a dark bruise spreading from his cheek to his mouth, purple and just a hint of red taking over his face as if they belong. For reasons you don’t really understand—not then, not yet—you feel like they definitely don’t belong.
He’s hanging with the Curtis gang, this boy, and you’re not sure why he’s there exactly. He doesn’t look tuff like the others (with the exception of that one kid whose name may or may not be Horse? You don’t really know what the hell his parents were thinkin’, but you do know that that kid couldn’t hurt a fly) but you suppose that you wouldn’t look real tuff if you weren’t carrying your switchblade with you.
You’re hoping the tuff-look comes soon for you.
Anyway, this boy can’t be older than you, maybe even younger—he’s baby-faced and his hair’s fallin’ all over his forehead like he hasn’t learned the art of greasing it back like the rest of his buddies and you. But he’s also got this look in his eyes.
The look makes you pause.
Because this kid, he’s gotta he thirteen at most, shouldn’t look so fuckin’ sad.
Sure, you’ve all got things to be sad and angry about—because you don’t get sad, not anymore, you just get mad—but it’s not a permanent thing, not usually, not with you.
With this boy, it’s always.
You watch from afar, in the hiding spot you ran to. It’s an abandoned lot with garbage everywhere, but it helps you stay away from the fuzz when they’re on your ass about liftin’ shit from DX and sometimes there’s some tuff stuff, like the random blanket you find that’s a complete snag ‘cause it’ll help you stay warm that night, or the pillow that still has a bit of fluff.
You watch the gang leave, the kid trailing silently behind them like a pet. You roll your eyes, but something tugs at the threadbare strings of your heart.
That night, as you munch on the Baby Ruth you definitely didn’t steal from nowhere, no sir, and lay under the blanket you found with your head resting on the pillow, you hear footsteps.
Immediately, you’re alert. Your hand finds your switchblade in the back pocket of your jeans and you grasp it real tight, holding your breath as the steps come closer, closer, closer.
Just as you prepare to pounce on the intruder and knife ‘em real good, a voice whispers, all soft and hesitant: “Anybody there? I ain’t lookin’ for a fight.”
You peek out your makeshift bed and see the kid—the pet one from earlier. He’s still got that big ol’ bruise and that sadness in his eyes.

The gang + Tim & Curly dealing with a dark feminine lady who is oblivious to the fact she’s so seductive
<3
Ofccccc pookie
Ponyboy Curtis
-he gets so flustered by you
-with your low, sultry voice
-seriously you could ask him what time it is and he’d be like 🥵🥵🥵🥵
-and your dark but not quite gothic, feminine outfits
-he doesn’t know many other people like you
-he feels so immature next to you
-but you have a crazy ability to make him feel things he’s never felt before
-memorized different things about you
-he asked you out with your favorite kind of chocolate and you said yes
-super cute together
Johnny Cade
-whoa
-you’re like… his dream
-he’s really attracted to you
-he thinks about you a lot, especially late at night in the lot
-he never has enough courage to go up to you and do anything about it tho
-if you ever talk to him in school he’d be so quiet while internally screaming
-one day you see him with a black eye
-you put a delicate hand on his cheek, making sure he’s ok
-he never really got fully over that
-definitely touched his own cheek after you let go like wow
-until one day dally mentions you and Johnnycake
-well
-he gets a bit defensive
-which is when dallys like you like her don’t you
-and Johnny doesn’t answer, only the tips of his ears turning red
-so dally literally pushes him towards you
-and he finally asks you out, and you say yes
-you guys are so in love with eachother
Sodapop Curtis
-he sees you walk into the DX one day
-he’s immediately interested
-I mean,it’s not every day he sees a girl like you
-you have this certain confidence
-a suggestive smirk and perfect eyeliner
-it’s attractive to say the least
-before long he asks you out
-yall are cute though
-red rose x sunflower vibes from you both
Darry Curtis
-he sees you walking by the house
-fully pops his head out the window to get a better look
-hot damn
-you’re on his level
-I mean, he’s very attracted to you
-he started asking around about you and no one seemed quite to know much
-so he went up to you and found out for himself
-and even talking to you made his knees weak, you so effortlessly came off as seductive
-after a while you two become close friends and before long
-he asks you out and you ofc say yes
-very cute couple 10/10 you’re both very mature and supportive of eachother
-ponyboy would have a crush on you tho lowkey 💀
Dallas Winston
-holy shit
-it’s not often he sees someone like you around
-you two definitely met whenever he harassed you on the street
-you simply cross your arms, and turn to him with a coolly neutral stare
-“Talk like that again to me and I’ll cut off your most valuable asset.” You’d snarl, walking away
-and leaving him with a smirk on his face, but he stops making the remarks
-over time he asks you out and you eventually say yes after several rejections
-but you two are a good couple
-pretty scary to run into though
Two Bit Mathews
-he sees you and
-you honestly seem so… grounded it’s hard to make jokes about you
-but he somehow manages
-but whenever you let out that low chuckle in response to his stupid jokes
-oh girl you don’t even know what you’re doing to him 💀😭💅
-that’s when he realizes like oh my lord he has some feelings for you
-when you two end up dating
-you make an amazing couple
-you keep him grounded, and calm and he keeps you laughing and having fun
Steve Randle
-he didn’t even think you realized
-what you were doing
-leaning against that car in that low cut, short dress
- you raised your eyebrows
-and he realized he’d been staring for a solid five minutes
-he’s dumbstruck by you
-your car had broken down and he was helping you fix it
-when it was done you simply said “Thanks, handsome.”
-and tipped him quite well
-after a while of friendly banter you two get pretty flirty
-end up making out in your car
-then dating
-super cute together 🫶
Tim Shepard
-it’s giving mobster/gangster wife tbh
-he was in love with you as soon as he saw you
-seducing eyes, a charming nature, cunning… never hot headed but always aware
-you were absolutely gorgeous
-and you make his knees weak in a way that most people aren’t able to
-with the most everyday things
-you’d also make an amazing trophy wife
-but you were so much more
-clever, you knew how to get anyone down on their knees in less than a minute
-he knew you’d be a valuable ass…. Asset to him
-you guys are a power couple fr
-he catcalled you when he met you like Dally 💀💀
Curly Shepard
-you both clash
-you were seductive, dark, mature, with deep eyes and a sharp look that could kill
-him…. Well he was a reckless punk
-you two ran in the same circles though
-and became quite good friends
-you kept him out of a lot of situations
-and looked good doing it too
-he doesn’t think you realize how crazy you drive him
-even just looking at him, biting your lip whenever you patch him up in concentration
-he checks you out when he thinks you aren’t looking
-you’ve known this entire time
-and whenever you confronted him about it you two end up making out
-the rest is history

do you have any sad Sodapop headcanons?
I had to think abt this one for a little but I’ve come up with a few 🤗
• despite everyone seeing him as handsome and gorgeous and being known for his looks, Soda is so deeply insecure :( he doesn’t mind his face, but he doesn’t like looking at his body for too long in the mirror. He’s bony and soft at the same time, not as muscular and toned as some of the others. Both of his brothers have more athletic builds and Steve’s got muscles all over, whereas even though Soda is still strong and a good fighter, he’s still got a soft stomach and arms and bony hips and elbows. He wishes he was more built and that he was more stereotypically “masculine” like Darry :(
• he often feels small compared to others, in more ways than one. Physically, like how I just talked about, wishing he had more muscle to him and maybe was a few inches taller. But emotionally too. He hates how he can’t feel anything too hard without his voice catching or eyes welling up. No one in the gang makes him feel bad about this, but it makes him feel like people don’t take him seriously just because he feels so hard
• what happened with Sandy and Ponyboy all happening within days of each other was truly the most distraught Soda has ever felt, feeling equal to when his parents died. He was trying so hard to be strong for Darry but when he got the letter from Sandy he just broke. He cried and cried for hours until he made himself sick and didn’t have anything left in him. Darry carried him back to bed and in the morning when he woke up he just felt numb. For someone who always feels emotions so strongly, he had nothing left to give
• he misses Johnny and Dally everyday, but doesn’t show it for Ponyboy’s sake. He know it hits his baby brother harder and he misses them in a way Soda will never understand, but they were his buddies too and he doesn’t like to think about the fact that they’ll never hang out again for too long. Sometimes he’ll wake up in the middle of the night to get a drink and expect Johnny to be curled up on the couch like he used to be or for Dally to pull into the DX in Buck’s car. But those things don’t happen anymore

Can you do headcanons for what the guys and their SO do on their birthday (like if they have the same birthday as their SO, what do they do?)
A/N: i really liked writing this actually! it was surprisingly wholesome since i was crying watching the movie while writing this. i really need more angst asks 😭
Tags: Fluff, hcs, birthday, all the boys
Warnings: it does kind of hint at sexual activity (thanks for that dal) but there’s no detail or anything like that so it should be fine!
The boys on their S/O’s birthday
Darry
Always the gentleman Dar would make sure you feel like the most important person in the world on your birthday.
Breakfast. In. Bed. Darry will make you the most extravagant breakfast with all your favourite foods and deliver it to you as soon as you wake up.
He’ll take the day off work (which is really rare for him!) just so the two of you can have fun and spend time together.
If he was planning a party he would let you know, just so you could tell him whether you wanted one or not
Ponyboy
He would be so cute omg-
He’d slip you a piece of paper during class telling you to meet him either in an empty classroom or under the bleachers at lunch that day. when you get there he will have made you a card and bought you a single cupcake. unless you go with my other hcs, in that case he would have gotten johnny to make cupcakes for you.
I don’t think that Pony would want to throw you a party. i think he would be more for hanging out in the vacant lot all night.
Ok hear me out- you two have been dating about a month and you’re just hanging out in the lot for your birthday. you two are talking and chatting when he realises he didn’t get you anything for your birthday. you try to tell him that it’s ok that you don’t need anything but he insists on giving you something so….BOOM first kiss right there!
Sodapop
Soda is just a tiny bit cruel so he’d probably pretend that he forgot your birthday as a joke.
You would go down to visit him in the DX and he’d be there like “i know i’m forgettin’ somethin’ bit i dunno what. is it Stevo’s birthday?”
He’d do this until you either got really upset or told him it was your birthday.
Once he revealed he didn’t forget he’d have a party planned for you and by god it would be a good party. He’d have your favourite foods, he would have rented out bucks and paid Tim Shepard or someone to act as a bouncer so nobody you didn’t like could get in.
This boy- he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off you all night. Kissing, holding your hand, hugging you from behind, simply having his hand around your waist/shoulders? he doesn’t care as long as you’re with him.
Dally
Dally wouldn’t be one to treat you special on your birthday. he’d go on like normal. it’s just how he is 🤷♂️
I think he’d say something like “it’s your birthday today, ain’t it?” and when you said yeah he’d just say something like “thought so” and walk away.
If he gets you a gift? i wouldn’t bet that it was acquired legally. but he still cares. he would most likely get you a new blade or something like that.
Even though on the day he wouldn’t be very attentive that night he’d get buck to close the bar early so you two could have some alone time. I’m thinking slow dancing in the bar alone. he’s a really bad dancer but he still tries. and i mean it’s dally we’re talking about so you probably know what would happen later that night…
Two-Bit
Your birthday to Two is just the perfect time for pranks, he doesn’t really know why, it just is. he would switch your orange juice for milk that he put orange food dye into, hide random things in your room, the basic pranks yk? maybe switch the fruit in your fruit bowl for that wax fruit.
He would be planning a surprise party in the Curtis’ place for like- a month before your birthday. it would be the best party ever. he’d even watch his drinking so you could have fun without having to babysit Two.
Exact same as soda, he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off you. though he’d probably be a little less wholesome, kinda like Dal.
He’d make some drunken toast at the party about how hot you are and how lucky he is to have you. he’s cringy like that plus he’s pissed drunk when he gives the roast so it’s not his fault
Steve
Steve doesn’t get as much appreciation as he should, he’s adorable! he wouldn’t be a gentleman like Darry but he wouldn’t be ignoring the fact it was your birthday like Dal. He would probably make some agreement that if you could win a challenge that on your birthday he couldn’t say no to you (with limits ofc. you couldn’t tell him to jump into freezing water cause you dropped a sandwich into it or you couldn’t tell him to kill someone yk? limits.) he’d probably let you win though tbh
So you’ve won this bet. now what? he’s your personal butler for the day! want coffee? ask Steve! need a hug? ask Steve! He would be at your beckon call at all times (that’s the saying right?)
He’d also plan you a party, just not a surprise party. He would have it in the lot since it has the most space so nobody will be cramped together.
Johnny
He would make you a present rather than buy one since he doesn’t have much money. i think that’s cuter and more thoughtful than anything else tbh.
He would want to hang out together all day. maybe you two would go to the drive in that night?
I don’t think parties are johnnies thing so he would plan that you and the rest of the boys have dinner in the Curtis’ and then if you wanted to go out he wouldn’t stop you.

Realizing Ponyboy would be the last one standing in the gang hurts me. This is how I’d think it’d play out.
Johnny was the first one to die, from burns from the fire but he died a hero
Dally not too long after that, in Ponyboy’s heart, he’d die a hero as well. Despite Dally’s reputation and how Pony states, he didn’t quite exactly like Dally, (I don’t remember the correct wording he used) he still looked up to him, still admired his mean looks. He was like another brother to Pony.
Then, his brother gets drafted into Vietnam a few years later after the book. Steve wanted to get drafted as well, where Soda goes he goes. But Soda tried to keep him out. I’d always headcanoned both he and Steve to get drafted. But Steve makes it out alive. When Steve returns without his brother—someone who’d he’d promise the Curtis brothers he’d protect and bring home alive—Ponyboy just runs to him and hugs Steve who holds Soda’s uniform before Darry. The trio crumple to the floor, grieving over another brother.
Then Steve would die of a broken heart. Literally. Like how Johnny was to Dally, Soda was not only his best friend, but the one he loved the most. The one person who seemed to understand him, despite their long time friendship since they were kids. He’d try to get back to work at the DX, but every time he enters the station, he gets whiplashes of Soda and it led him to insanity, it almost scared Pony, Darry and Two. Ponyboy feared it must have been the PTSD hitting him and he was right. Even a year after Soda’s death, Steve drinks himself in denial. And, on one fateful night, he gets in his car and drives under the influence of drinking. Suffice it to say, he felt at peace finally and sees Soda’s smiling face. The police found him like that, faced up and smiling.
Two-Bit would have been next. He’d live a relatively good life. He’d marry, much to Darry’s surprise. He’d even tried to stop drinking after Steve’s death. He tried to be strong for the two remaining Curtis brothers which is why he’s trying to stop. He’s trying to help Darry with supporting Ponyboy in his college years by earning himself a job and helping around the house. Whenever the pain of Soda, Steve’s, Dally’s and Johnny’s death play out, he’d resorted to drinking again. He never told anyone. Not even his wife. Though Darry suspected she knew but she wouldn’t tell him. Darry received a call from work one day. It was Keith’s wife and she gave him the news. Two-Bit Matthews died from excessive drinking. She found him in his bed still that morning, unresponsive. Darry didn’t take it well to say the least.
And finally, Darry would have been the second to last one. He’d die of cancer and old age. But Ponyboy was by his side when it happened in the hospital. Along with Darry’s wife and kids. Ponyboy squeezed Darry’s pale hands in his, tears on his cheeks as he tried to remain strong for Darry and his family. Under the medicine’s influence, Darry’d mention their parents, Steve and the gang. He’d even mention Sodapop which brought more tears to Pony’s face. Finally, Darry turned to his brother and whispered, “I love you, baby. Keep that strong heart.” And finally, his last words to his baby brother would be: “I’m sorry.” Ponyboy would sob into his brother’s chest, saying he forgives him. That he always had.
Now, Ponyboy Michael Curtis sits on his childhood home a few years after Darry’s death, roughly into his mid seventies, sitting on the porch, Gone with the Wind in his lap, staring off into the sunset. And he smiles, hearing Johnny’s voice in his ears: “Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.”
