YEAR TWO OF BEING LATE TO KH OC WEEK!!! but I had the energy today and my internet is out so I can’t work (using my phone’s hotspot rn with my laptop) - might as well be productive. Plus I’ve loved all the stuff @khoc-week has been reblogging from artists and writers alike so I really just wanted to participate even though I said earlier I wasn’t going to this year.

Day 1 (August 2nd): Introductions – Whether you are returning or this is your first time, introduce us to the OC(s) you’ll be focusing on for the week! Show us a picture or a one shot that explains who they are. What do they like? Dislike? Give us the run down!

Last year I talked about Atlas, one of my (many) KHX OCs, this year I’m going to talk about Sid! One of my OCs from one of my original worlds. Him and Atlas are loosely (very loosely) connected, so I thought it would be a good idea.

His real name is Siegfried Jasper Gate - but he insists everyone call him Sid and will not be happy if you say his real name. He started out as my attempt to give KH their own ‘Cid’ character. Yes we have the Cid in Radiant Garden and I love that old man but I wanted one more connected to the overall KH plot. And then it spiraled out of control and I ended up making an entirely new wold so there’s that.

The left design is considered a ‘before’ look and the right ones are his current look. He was exiled from the main hub city of his world (both called Cindergate) with his two best friends (because trios), and end up living in the wild with his friends and a handful of other people who were also exiled from the city. He has a bit of an attitude problem, overall distrusting of strangers and can even be a bit of an ass - but he means well. He pushes himself to his limits to make sure those under his care are safe and sound - he gives up his own resources to those younger than him so they can be a little stronger and healthier, even if he becomes weaker. He’ll complain about anything except about the people around him, because they mean too much to him.

Under the cut is what I’ve written about his world and then a short biography that I’ve had written up for ages. Have fun.

the world trapped in a desert

The Basics

Cindergate is a city that has seemingly seen disasters, parts of the city are being rebuilt and other parts completely abandoned and falling apart. It’s cut off from the vast desert around it by a large, also crumbling, gate. The city has a mix of technology, though seems to shun anything too ‘high tech’.

The city has a population of tough individuals who know how to survive in harsh conditions. Most of the population in this world are human, with occasional animals who can also survive the harsh sun and heat. These people are ruled over by one family - who govern and help make and enforce laws. Because of this the head of the family is often referred to as ‘sheriff’. The family keeps laws strict in the town. There is one law in particular that the sheriff is always eager to punish those for breaking-

The Keyblade Wielder Ban

The people of Cindergate are aware of the keyblade, heartless, the worlds, etc - however they consider Keyblade wielders evil, no matter who they are or what their motivations may be. They believe that the wielders are dragging darkness into the world and are the reason so many heartless live in the desert that surrounds the city. The city has to constantly beat the heartless back, and are the reason why a good portion of the city has been abandoned or is always needing to be rebuilt.

It has been the tradition of the world for a while that if a wielder is found, they are to be branded as a traitor to the city - both metaphorically and literally. After a trial to determine if someone is a wielder or not - they are branded with a mark in the shape of a keyhole. Then they are dragged through the city and out to the gates that surround it. The wielders are then exiled, pushed out to the near lifeless desert. The people of the city will often attack them with weapons or throw objects at them to make sure they don’t try to run back into the city. They consider the wielders ��sacrifices’ to the heartless to keep them at bay.

At times the heartless in the desert will get the better of the wielders with no training. Those who manage to survive their first day and night have the chance to come across a safehaven made by wielders in the reaches of the desert and on the edges of a canyon.

Landscape.

The city is the mix of a steampunk and wild west setting. There are some technology around the city but it’s big, clunky, and steam or coal powered. The part of the city that has been abandoned has a chance of heartless sneaking in, and so there are people here who patrol at night on occasion but besides that at times kids sneak into the area to play - but it’s strictly forbidden to do so and they will be punished if they do.

The desert surrounding the city is vast and nearly lifeless. Aside from the heartless, there are few plants and animals that live there.

Past the nearly lifeless desert is an area of plateaus and canyons. Within this area those who have been exiled from the city attempt to make a living. They find items that the people of cindergate ‘sacrifice’ to the heartless, (pieces of machinery, cloth, food, etc) and try to repurpose it for their own needs. There’s a bit more life in this area, but not much in terms of subsistence.

The Survivors

The wielders and those who were exiled with them (family members who hid them, other accomplices, and even people who were falsely convicted of being a wielder) have been managing to survive so far, though it’s a constant struggle. They’ve made houses out of spare pieces of wood, tarp, scrap metal, and hide themselves in as much shade as they possibly can.

Some practice with their keyblades in order to get a handle on their abilities and fight off heartless that come near the safe haven. Others completely shun the fact that they can use a keyblade and refuse to wield it. Those who are not wielders try to contribute by making food or volunteering for other odd jobs. There are also wielders dedicated to finding a way off world.

AND NOW THAT THAT’S OUT OF THE WAY -

Sid’s about:

Born to the ruling family of Cindergate, Sid had everything handed to him on a silver platter. And he hated it. He couldn’t wrap his head around the strict rules of the town or the terrible court system. Any time he would try to speak up on this though was met with punishment from his parents. So he decided to bide his time, becoming their perfect ‘puppet’ so that he could become the leader one day and change things for the better.

While still considered a bit of a rebel, his parents at least ‘admired his change of heart’ and let him walk around Cindergate freely. While growing up he made two friends - a girl name Mari and a boy named Helio. The three of them were practically inseparable, they were some of the only ones that didn’t care who Sid was related to. He could be himself around them, and so he vowed to keep them safe most out of everyone in the town.

Mari revealed to the boys one day that she was a keyblade wielder - which was a terrible discovery. Keyblade Wielders were banned from Cindergate and it she was found to be a wielder she would be arrested, branded, and exiled to the harsh desert that surrounded the town. The desert that was filled with heartless. At the same time Helio revealed himself to be a wielder as well - having been one of the longest out of all of them, since he was a child. He knew better than anyone what would happen to wielders who got caught as his mother had been cast out when he was a child. Sid promised that he wouldn’t let them get caught and that he would lift the ban, they just needed to keep their keyblades hidden until he became the leader of the town.

This was easier said than done, especially since Sid would come to be a wielder as well. An old friend of his family invited Sid to his deathbed. This old man revealed how close Sid’s father and him used to be, and how they had a dream to make Cindergate a thriving place. But Sid’s father had done nothing more than oppress the people and make the ban more strict than it needed to be. So the old man had a solution - to pass on the power of the keyblade to Sid. He had kept it hidden all of his life, hoping that one day Sid’s father would change his mind on the ban - but he never did. In his last moments he forced Sid to take the power of the keyblade from him, saying it was Sid’s responsibility now, before passing.

Sid was terrified and furious with the power he had been given. Yes, he had been wanting to make CinderGate a better place for wielders and non wielders alike but - he didn’t want it to be like this. Still, he wasn’t about to let the opportunity slip through his fingers. He told his friends of his new found gift and worked to become even more like the 'perfect’ leader his parents wanted him to be, just so he could take over quicker and get the stupid ban taken down.

Not long after this, Helio and Mari were caught for being keyblade wielders. Sid stood up to his parents to try and get them to see reason. When they still wouldn’t listen he revealed himself as a wielder in front of the whole town - saying if they were going to throw out his friends they would have to throw out him as well.

And they did, but not before branding him as a traitor - literally. They burned the keyhole shaped brand onto the side of his face before exiling him,Helio, and Mari out of the town. The three ran until they couldn’t anymore, fought off heartless, then collapsed with laughter - surprised but grateful they were still alive.

A while longer of traveling lead them to a survivor camp. Other people like them who had been exiled from Cindergate. It wasn’t much, but it became home for the three wielders. Sid took it upon himself to improve the day to day lives of the survivors by building various machines and other contraptions to make life easier for them.But still, it wasn’t enough. Thanks to his parents hoard of keyblade wielder knowledge (because how else were they supposed to fight off such a 'threat’ without an entire library full of knowledge?), he knew of other worlds and he knew that the keyblade could get them there. He just wasn’t sure how to unlock the power. None of the survivors were masters by any means, some of them didn’t even have a keyblade - and were friends or family of wielders exiled or falsely accused and wanted nothing to do with the keyblade.

Sid, taking another burden onto his shoulders, did the only thing he could think he could accomplish - he made himself and his two friends keyblade armor. He hoped that with the armor they could brave the passages in between worlds and find a way to get all the survivors to a new home.

ROUND 1: HOMETOWN MONUMONK - Derived from monument, monk

did you know I like maybe four miles away from a field of 109 identical 7 foot corn statues

FAKEATHON ROUND 2: THE USA ROBINOX - Derived from robin, autumnal equinox

Round one was our hometown, and I did my current city. But my childhood belongs to Connecticut, so I wanted to do a connecticuter. The american robin is the state bird of Connecticut, and as a part of New England it has a colonial history, hence the style. A type of garnet is the state gemstone, hence the species name.

Mostly though, I associate Connecticut with the vibrant autumns. The falls of New England are magic.

FAKEATHON DAY 3: CANADA CURTLE - Derived from curling, turtle

Very simple this one. Canada has a lot of curling events, right? Put the CURLING STONE. On the TURTLE. and you get the CURTLE. Dudes in this other server I’m in really love this one

FAKEATHON DAY 4: MEXICO CASOLURO - Derived from first two letters of the cards it’s based on; el CAtrin, el SOl, la LUna, la ROsa

A very fun one to work on. These are based on those Loteria cards - Specifically, the sun, moon, rose, and the dandy. The 4x4 grid on the inside of its cape is a reference to the 4x4 grid of a loteria play mat. Just threw crap at the wall here and got this funky friend.

FAKEATHON DAY 5: BRAZIL CAPYERA, CAPOBARA - Derived from capoeira, capybara

Not new designs, so much as designs I really needed to give another go. Much happier with these. And frankly, couldn’t think of a concept more wholly Brazilian short of slapping the flag on them.

FAKEATHON DAY 6: FRANCE CHÈVAÇAY - Derived from chèvre (French for goat), Chevalier (French for knight), valençay (French variety of cheese)

FAKEATHON DAY 7: SPAIN POMEGRIA - Derived from pomegranate, bandurria

Typically tried to avoid the lady-in-dress motif, but felt too justified here. Spain is home to pomegranates, with the blossom being the national flower. The body shape was inspired by the instrument the bandurria, with the base of the body being a halved pomegranate, and her “earrings” being both the tuning pegs and pomegranate seeds.

FAKEATHON DAY 8: UNITED KINGDOM MEMORI - Derived from memento mori, memory

I could’ve uh. Had this idea at a better time huh :^)

FAKEATHON DAY 9: ITALY MEDITIVE - Derived from Mediterranean, olive

Tried going more off-the-wall, but it didn’t quite work. Based on olive branches clearly - olive oil was often used as lamp oil, hence the fire typing. I meant for it to resemble a nuns habit or monastery robes, a la Italy’s heavy catholicism, with the floating olive leaf circlet as a halo. It was… good ideas that didn’t come together perfectly. Probably my least favorite of the lot

FAKEATHON DAY 10: NORDICS MINKJAVIC - Derived from mink, Reykjavik

Look when I think Iceland I always think black metal. This is the second time I’ve done a heavy metal pokemon. The first one was more badass. This one’s instead uh A lot : )

FAKEATHON DAY 11: EGYPT DJEDLY - Derived from Djed, deadly

One of the easiest to draw for… obvious reasons. Based on a canopic jar, sort of like an off-brand yamask or cofagrigus. It’s meant to open up twice; If you take off the lid, you see the fleshy eyeball dude in the lower corner. And if you pull that like a handle, you see what’s inside… and die with that knowledge : )

FAKEATHON DAY 12: ETHIOPIA CAFFIEND - Derived from caffeine, fiend

Obviously hyenas live in Ethiopa. But moreover, Ethiopia is also known as pretty much the birthplace of coffee, and coffee drinking/making is important to the culture. So I thought, why not make a hyena that’s super happy cause it’s always super hyped up on caffeine? Dunno if the electric typing makes much sense, I just thought caffeine = energy = electricity

FAKEATHON DAY 13: MADAGASCAR TENROCK - Derived from tenrec, rock

Tenrecs are endemic, yeah, but this wasn’t just based on a native animal. It was based on the land of Madagascar - specifically, the gorgeous and incredibly sharp structures of Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. I’ll post a photo above the art, when I saw Madagascar was a theme day I knew I had to base something on that park.

FAKEATHON DAY 14: SAUDI ARABIA MASQAREEN - Derived from masquerade, Qareen

This is based on the Islamic idea of the Qareen. People don’t 100% agree on what Qareens are, but they are consistantly considered to be spiritual doubles - Every person has a Qareen associated with they’re spirit. This is based on one idea, them as dark spirits who attempt to lead their companion-spirit astray. I chose them because even though they’re evil from the start - hence the dark typing - they can become good based on their companion - in this case, trainer’s - actions and whims.

Since they’re counterparts to humans, I thought having them mimic humans would be fitting. It’s body is ALMOST humanoid, it’s many pink extremeties ALMOST resemble clothes. It would be a zoroark like situation, where it could make illusions to resemble human.

FAKEATHON DAY 15: RUSSIA MATEESHKA - Derived from mastryoshka, tea SAMOSHKA - Derived from samovar, matryoshka

Fun fact, I actually used to collect matryoshka dolls. Have a whole box of them in the basement somewhere. So I felt I had to. I have a thing for designs that look a little snobby, Samoshka certainly fits that little niche of mine : D

FAKEATHON DAY 16: INDIA BOVIQUIN - Derived from bovine, palanquin

I like ride pokemon, and I like customizable pokemon. So I made one that’s both! It’s supposed to be based on the water buffalo. The simple colors are because it’s supposed to be customizable - As in, the fabrics hung from it (and maybe the markings painted on it) could be swapped out, so I wanted something simple as a base. Sort of like Furfrou, but the customization doesn’t wear off

FAKEATHON DAY 17: CHINA LONGRUSH - Derived from Long (chinese for dragon), brush, rush

I expect here will be a lot of chinese dragons this round, I wanted to avoid the obvious. But… this is one of the best concepts I’ve ever come up with. The second I had the mental image, I knew that was it

FAKEATHON DAY 18: JAPAN SPIROUS - Derived from spirit, cirrus, pious

This is a myth from both China and Japan, but I associate it with yokai primarily. This is based on Hangonkō, incense that brings forth the spirits of the dead. Hence it’s body obscured by the clouds - It’s literally being summoned by the incense it carries. In retrospect, this could have been an interesting pokeball mimic with different colors.

FAKEATHON DAY 19: INDONESIA WHALEEN - Derived from baleen whale

The Philippines are home to the coral triangle, a stretch of ocean that’s home to a stupidly large amount of coral life. So I initially wanted a coral mon… but it’s known for its reefs. So why not make the whole reef?

FAKEATHON DAY 20: AUSTRALIA OPALINE - Derived from opal, mine

One town in Australia I’ve loved since middle school is Coober Pedy. Known as the opal capital of the world, it’s a desert town that’s so hot, almost all the residents live in houses carved into the ground. Even many businesses and hotels are underground! Coloring was fun on this dude :3

FAKEATHON DAY 21: ANTARCTICA SOUTHAIR - derived from south, hairgrass.

I wanted to do something unexpected. So rather than do that obvious penguin or similar, I went with southern hairgrass, the south most flowering plant. Did it’s closer meant to loosely resemble any wet clothes, but since there are no Inuit populations to Antarctica, only loosely. It’s species, the 1000-to-1 pokemon, Refers to both its chances of survival and the fact of the body is comprised of many many blades of grass

FAKEATHON DAY 22: SOMEWHERE HOT - DEATH VALLEY HELINDRA - Derived from helios, indra

The reason I chose the Indra butterfly is because it's native to death valley. I figure, if death valley gets HELLA sun, why not instead of it living in spite of the harsh sun, living so well because of it?

FAKEATHON DAY 23: SOMEWHERE COLD - GREENLAND STUFFIN - Derived from storm, stun, puffin

I know there are myths that say puffins can bring thunderstorms, so I thought why not turn a puffin into a storm cloud? But uh. It kind of just. Is a puffin isn't it :/

FAKEATHON DAY 24: ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS KYTHURA - Derived from Antikythera, Urania

One of my favorite remnants of ancient times is the Antikythera Mechanism. It was an ancient Greek computer. With proper gears and mechanics and everything, that was used to plot the locations of the planets and the stars in stunning detail. This first go around turned out… not that great, I’ll be honest. But I wanna do something with the Antikythera Mechanism. It shouldn’t take TOO much tweaking to make this something I love

FAKEATHON DAY 25: FUTURE WORLDS COCOWATT - Derived from coconut, watt

One of my favorite images of the future is, instead of all streets having street lights, some having bioluminescent trees! I wanted to make something to that effect. Even though we have Exeggutor I chose palm trees cause they already have a street-lamp-like shape. Finally got to bust out my super neon pencils :3

FAKEATHON DAY 26: RANDOM COUNTRY - IRELAND AMANEELIE - Derived from amanita, unseelie

I have irish blood, so I wanted to do an irish mon. I took the idea of the fairie ring in a weird direction - when it extends its arms and the little purple "hands" touch, anything in the loop of its arm - the fairie's ring - will become hideously poisoned. Visually referenced the deathcap. Just like imagining these things in a secluded dense forest, floating along like swimming jellyfish

FAKEATHON DAY 27: THE OLYMPICS SYNCRA - Derived from synchronized, tetra

This is similar to wishiwashi, in that it's a schooling mon. But instead of it having a schooling form, it's ALWAYS in a school of five fish, constantly swimming in unison. Clearly based on synchronized swimming, I wanted the tails to be super long, so they'd flow all elegantly when they maneuver around. Kinda... power rangers in execution, innit

FAKEATHON DAY 28: THE OCEAN EXPLORB - Derived from explore, orb

The idea to turn the bathysphere into a pufferfish-like dude just came together really clearly in my head. I imagine their attack would be terrible but their defence would be amazing - basically, they aren't out to fight, they just wanna explore the oceans :3

FAKEATHON DAY 30: LEGENDARY CORRA - Derived from core, cor (latin for heart), terra

I figured, we’ve done every part of the earth this challenge… except the interior. So for the legendary representing the world, I based mine on the core of the earth. The body itself is meant to resemble the phylotypic stage of an embryo - the stage of development where most species are virtually identical. It cannot leave its lava bubble. At the center of its body is a heart glowing with all the colors of magma.

The FIRST person to make a legend of korra joke is getting slapped

Top 5 favorite characters: Octavia, Echo, Lexa, Lincoln, Murphy Other characters you like: Gaia, Raven, Emori, Monty, Harper, Diyoza Least favourite characters: Clarke, Abby, Kane Otps: Octavia and Lincoln, Lexa and Clarke, Bellamy and Echo Notps: Bellamy and Clarke, basically anything involving Abby Favourite friendships: Murphy and Raven, Monty and Jasper Favourite family: Spacekru Favourite episodes: 4x10, 5x02, probably more but I can’t really think of anything else right now (I appreciated 7x02 but I’m not quite sure yet if I’m gonna call it a favorite, that will depend on how the rest of the season turns out) Favourite season: Season 2 Favourite quotes: “We’re back, bitches!” “I don’t choose pain. I choose life.” “Not everyone. Not you.” “ You're the most beautiful broom in a broom closet of brooms.” “ I can't change the tide if the moon won't cooperate. It's basic physics.” (I’m including this last one because of an amazing Monty/Jasper gif set I saw once.) Best musical moment: Ehh... Well I stll tear up basically every time I hear Cloud by Elias, the song that played during Lincoln’s death scene. It’s an amazing song and anything related Lincoln’s death still gets to me, not just because of the characters but also because of everything that went on with Ricky and everything he was put through, it’s just... it’s a very loaded moment in the series as well as behind the scenes. I’m not sure ‘best’ is the right word here but it’s the moment I’m going with. Moment that made you fangirl the hardest: When Octavia became Skaikru’s champion. I found it rather poetic that a young woman who had been spat out by her community simply for being born was their only hope for survival. Plus, she looked incredible. When it really disappointed you: It’s not just ‘a moment’ but I’ve been really disappointed by the show’s treatment of Octavia and how its hypocrisy concerning other characters who have done way worse shit than Octavia yet they are patted on the back and protected for it by the narrative. It aggravates me. I’m not mad that Octavia has had it rough, when a character gets everything handed to them on a golden platter with no real consequences, that’s boring. But it makes me mad that she’s the only one who has to pay for her mistakes and none of the others have to, and the way the characters are now comfortable joking about what has been the most traumatizing, horrifying and scarring thing anyone has ever had to go through really pisses me off. Octavia deserves so much better, the show really dropped the ball here. I’m also extremely disappointed by the way the show handled Lexa’s death. Octavia survived a sword through the gut and falling off a big ass cliff, but Lexa can’t take a stray bullet in the presence of someone who is meant to be a doctor? I mean I get that this was supposed to prove that we’re all vulnerable and that even Lexa, Heda of the thirteen clans can’t escape death, but come on. Also the way Jason treated the Clexa fandom was gross. Saddest moment: The moment Bellamy called Octavia “the queen of cannibals”. Up until that point I held onto hope that things would get better, that the show would still turn things around, that everything Octavia had been put through would be put into perspective when she could tell the one she loved the most about the horrors the bunker put her through. But when Bellamy called her that, it was made clear that not only did he find out about the most traumatizing part of his sister’s life (and it’s not like it lacked trauma before) but he also didn’t care. It was the moment where I had to give up hope that they could ever get to a place where I would respect and care for their dynamic again and it made me sad, because Octavia deserved so much better. Most well done character death: Oh god, this is a difficult one, because I have issues with most of the main characters’ deaths lol. So I’m gonna go with Nia for this one, because I really liked that Lexa recognized who the real threat was and took matters into her own hands and did what she could to maintain the coalition. I can’t think of another death that I didn’t hate. Favourite guest star: Probably Jessica Harmon Favourite cast member: Marie Avgeropoulos Character you wish was still alive: Lincoln, hands down. So many things would be different right now if he had still been around. One thing you hope really happens: I hope Bellamy and Echo are endgame and not just that, I also hope that the show will allow Bellamy to treat Echo with the love and respect she deserves. Because so far the show hasn’t really shown their relationship much respect and most of the effort is coming from Echo’s side and I don’t care much for that. Bellamy clearly loves her a lot, so I hope the writers will let him show and prove that to us in the final season. Most shocking twist: I don’t really think the 100 is good at shocking twists? You see most of them coming from miles away lol. When did you start watching: When it came out, basically. :) Best animal/creature: Helios! Favourite location: Ehh... I’m gonna go with the dropship or Arkadia, not because I love those places so much but because they’re where the show’s best seasons (one and two) basically happened. Trope you wish they would stop using: BYG One thing this show does better than others: Pissing off its fanbase! :’D Funniest moments: Most of Monty and Jasper’s interactions in the earlier seasons, those two were amazing. Couple you would like to see: I wish the show would make Niylah and Octavia a thing even if I don’t passionately ship it. I also became a huge fan of Clarke and Gaia! Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: I really don’t know anyone for this question... I’m a big fan of Kristen Stewart so I’d probably be thrilled with that, but it’s not something that I actively want or anything. Favourite outfit: Ehh... As much as I hate to say this, Clarke does get the best outfits and I think I’m gonna go with the dress she wore early in season 6. I’m also a huge fan of Octavia’s grounder look bw. Favourite item: Lincoln’s diary Do you own anything related to this show: Nope What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in: Well I don’t know which one I would be in, but Spacekru or Trikru seem like the most fun so I’d want to be a part of one of those! Most boring plotline: I never really cared for the City of Light although I will admit that storyline had a lot of potential, I’m just not sure the show really handled that well? Most laughably bad moment: The fact that Clarke just becomes anyone’s leader anywhere while not doing anything for it. And how fast she was forgiven and integrated into Spacekru in season 6 while doing the bare minimum to work for their forgiveness and showing no signs of remorse or wanting to change. Best flashback/flashfoward if any: I really liked the flashbacks of Octavia’s childhood, they did a good job of portraying what life had been like for her and it helped us understand her character better, even if they were short and limited to one episode. I also really enjoyed watching Octavia during those ten years in Skyring, but I’m not sure those qualify as a flashback and I do have some issues with them, still, so I’m gonna go ahead and stick with 1x06. Most layered character: Octavia, hands down Most one dimensional character: Oh god, how do I answer this... Of the core group I guess I would go with Raven. And that isn’t because I don’t love her, because I very much do, it’s the show’s fault for not really digging into anything that’s related to her. She’s just in the background until they need her to fix a problem they’ve been having or until they need someone to be tortured, or lately when they need to make Clarke look less horrible. She just doesn’t really get much else to work with, we don’t know what motivates her, we barely see her feel a type of way about the things she’s put through and when she does get a voice, it’s obviously meant to create sympathy for other characters so... yeah. Scariest moment: I don’t find it a very scary show hahaha. Grossest moment: The graphic scene of Lincoln’s execution, it was in such poor taste, especially considering everything that had been going on with Jrot and Ricky. Best looking male: Murphy Best looking female: Octavia and Echo Who you’re crushing on (if any): Octavia and Echo Favourite cast moment: Ehh, I don’t really keep up with the cast so idk? I did love Marie calling Echo Octavia’s sister-in-law though. Favourite transportation: None I think, I don’t really care? Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): The one that comes to mind right away is the one of Octavia swimming towards the surface after she ran into the anomaly, it’s just such a pretty shot. Other than that, well, The 100 is shot in a beautiful environment so a lot of their scenery is gorgeous but I just immediately thought of this one. Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: Jason’s blabbing about the damn worms. The way 3x01 felt completely disconnected from everything that happened in 2x16 also still bugs me. And how it feels as if the new writers never really saw the previous seasons and instead just read character descriptions, I feel like they didn’t really grasp the relationships and stuff like that in season 6. Best promo: Ehh, I usually just watch the episodes so I don’t really have an opinion about this. Loved the uproar the one for season 7 caused, though, because I’m a sucker for drama hahaha. At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: As soon as I met Octavia, she’s my baby and you will have to take her from my cold. dead. hands.

The players

In Athena's opinion, human life had always been most interesting. The way they moved through their time on earth as if there were no tomorrow, as if everything began with the rise of the sun and ended with the glow of the moon, its white halo bathing the night sky, and all trapped between Helios and Selene was either to be perfect, or not to be at all. The spark with which they followed their dreams, their ideals, their leaders.

And maybe they truly did not have a tomorrow, at least not all of them did. Humans- their lives- were fickle at best; only in their flesh bodies for a limited amount of time, and even then, growing old much too quickly, going to war between one another far too easily. Their need for greatness often pushed into the wrong direction, pursuing their names in history books by means of brawn rather than brain; often thinking on their feet, tempers flaring at the first strike, hands quick to clutch at their swords.

Athena knew much of it was cause of Gods, some of it even to her. Many men had idolized her throughout worlds, throughout eons, and once men loved, they did it so passionately that they were hardly ever pulled from the source of their infatuation. It often happened to Gods, that they fell prey to men’s love; many of her siblings were evidence of that, many more than she cared to account for. And as such, it often happened to Gods that they fell prey to human ambition, too. Much was the case of one of her brothers, one she’d given chase to throughout many a world, hoping for a better end to the human lives Ares consumed in his quest for power.

And so she followed him into this world as well, her thirst for knowledge, experience; her intentions to protect the men of this world from Ares a convenient excuse.

The awakening was usually slow- conscience and memory coming to her in small bouts of color and feeling. Human events helped it through sometimes, triggering the millennia of experiences with something as soft as a hug from her new brother, and the discovery that in this world she could wield a lively element such as fire; the horror of abandonment tearing at her chest late one night.

It was never easy to come to terms with facts that went beyond her powers, that came with the life one took. The rules of this new board she was playing on.

Athena learned early in this human life that she was born to a coin she’d not forged, and that coin had two of the most devastating faces she’d experienced while on earthly planes so far.

That she was both to be worshipped and terrorized by the man who gave her life. And that she’d been a monster in the eyes of the woman who birthed her as well, no matter how much Athena yearned for her affections.

That winning in some fields did not mean she could win in all, no matter how hard she tried- how desperately she tried- to hold onto some things. Nothing was fair in love and war, and so it seemed, when you were good in one, you were bound to fail in the other.

That jealousy was as lethal as a dagger, and that she both felt it and incited it in others, and that she couldn’t stop it. It was addictive, it was an easy game, with dangerous outcomes, such as her once loving brother.

She learned perfection was something that was expected of her, in higher form than ever before, even in time spent as a Goddess. And she became addicted to it as well; searching, researching, and working so hard to please, to be perfect. Addicted to praise.

Athena learned she too had fallen prey of humanity, and in her greatest quest to stop Ares, she’d taken quite a few detours, not all of them benign. For her, or for others. But so was human nature, the same imperfections she’d always found fascinating.

It wasn’t long after she’d been stripped of all she’d once felt was close to her heart when a crusade was laid out in front of her, an opportunity to put her out in the world, and thus, closer to Ares.

But how many times could she get away with failing her father’s mission? Have her underlings and friends make mistakes, have her flames purposely miss her intended enemies without harm? How many times could she watch them escape until she was brought back into the Lord’s side and lost her chance at her real enemy?

And how much harm was she inflicting into her human life? What would the consequences be? Those were the questions that often kept her awake while her friends slept.

The city was grand by human standards, grandiose even, with a story of standing in proud victory over her nation’s attempts against it. Her own uncle had lost what he loved most to the city’s walls. Rings of towering stone separated people based on their monetary status, isolating brothers and sisters, fathers and children, flesh and blood, because of something as frivolous as metal.

And she knew he was here. She could smell him; putrid, like the stench of a battlefield the morning after. Fear and blood and bile; everything that made him proud, and her stomach revolt.

Azula walked past the walls of Ba Sing Se as if she were not the Princess of the enemy nation. Under the guise of greens and golds, no one batted an eye at her and her friends as they were led to see the King. She had to keep herself from shaking her head, so very like her to slip right under Ares’ nose, and so very him to underestimate humans. To underestimate her.

The plan had not been hard to devise, not with her loyal companions, not with how much of a fool this particular son of Zeus was. And soon enough she’d been imprisoned, interrogated, her facade stripped, and Azula could only smirk her way through it all.

And then he really discovered her. Came marching to her, thin lips twisted in an inhuman smirk, as he ordered his faithful Dai Li away. And her true smile showed, pulling at the corner of her mouth with the joy that came with a new, unexpected challenge. What a fun little twist in her plans.

“Athena.” His voice lost the inflection he’d been using so far, turned deeper, raspier, the voice of a God who boasted over his fearsome war cries that made humans tremble. Idiot, humans trembled over the touch of a woman as well, there was no need to raise one’s voice.

“Ares, brother of mine.” Athena kept the smile etched on her features, she quite liked her appearance in this reality, she liked the energy of this youth. Her eyes swept over Ares, from his arms hidden behind his back- where she knew he kept his stone gloves- to the ridiculous braid growing from his otherwise bald head. “I see Aphrodite wasn’t so charitable to you this time around.” Athena sneered, a hand waving about in the air between them. Was it childish? Probably. She had the appearance of a child, so she’d still enjoy it.

“You think so highly of yourself, Athena.” He circled her, the room around them grand and empty, the columns, the flooring, the very particles of gold embedded in the walls his very element in this world. Still, she didn’t flinch, allowing Ares his inspection.

Ares was a God of little thought, and quick to action, and her small frame gave her the advantage this time. Her body’s age would have him forget she was actually his equal, that she’d beaten him in this game many times before.

“This time I’ll win.” Finally he spoke again, his voice carried by the echo in the throne room placed him much too close to her, and her back tensed imperceptibly. “I’ve been here longer, Athena, I know how these men think, how this world works. I know how to play them. This city has been mine for decades now, and I won’t let you take it away from me.”

Her laughter filled the space, loud and musical. Athena turned to face her brother, unable to believe his ambition could have ended in the possession of just this one city. Either he was trying to hide a much bigger plan, or he was truly bored when he came here. Regardless, she was amused, and knew exactly how to take him down without breaking a sweat.

“Oh, but little brother… how you entertain me.” Feeling the boldness of her fire within, Athena placed a hand on the man’s shoulder, a much-too-sweet smile setting on her lips, his nostrils flaring, and jaw tightening, but still he stayed put. “And here I was, thinking we could strike a deal, but it seems your new life has come with a dwindling of your aspirations. What a shame, really.

“See, I’m not sure if you’re aware, but I’m a Princess this time around.” It was her turn to circle him now, ignoring the analysis of his being, and inspecting the intricately carved features of the columns around them instead, the detailing of the roof. She knew how he behaved, how he stood, how he attacked. It never changed no matter the reality. “A very powerful one at that.

“My father, Fire Lord Ozai, is slowly but inevitably taking over the world.” She turned to him with a condescending tip of her head. “But I’m sure you knew about that already.”

Throughout the years, and their many encounters, human plane or not, Athena had learned Ares was very much a God rash men wanted; quick to anger when one poked at his overinflated ego. And so that was what she intended to do.

Ares beady eyes narrowed on her. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing, sister. You think I’m an idiot, but I’m ahead of you this time, and my plan is in the works already.” Athena merely rolled her eyes at him, what even was the point of this conversation? They’d been here before, they’d be here again. But, if he wished to believe he had some upper hand, then so be it. “I know who Ozai is, and I know about your scarred brother, too. He’s living here, did you know?”

That she didn’t know, and she found worry stir in her chest, a flicker of emotions developed for the boy who was flesh of her flesh this time around, but she pushed it aside for the moment being. She’d find Zuko later, and have him return home with her, where he belonged.

“I care not for the boy, Ares, you should know that already.” She lied through her teeth, something that came to her as easy as breathing and wielding blue flames. “But I’m intrigued at this master plan of yours, of course, although if you’d like to hear mine, then we might come to an agreement.

“You see, I’ve learned so much this time, brother. The man- my father- has taught me a lot, and he’d be pleased if I can bring him someone like you, Ares. He’d reward me, and I- in turn- would reward you.” Athena’s voice softened, she cooed at the man, eyes widening to convey the illusion that her words carried. “You’d have a place close to him, and you could rise so much more quickly from there. We could rule this world together, just you and I. Just imagine what we could do, little brother.”

His stance relaxed ever so slightly, but enough for her to pick up, his left eyebrow twitched in interest, and Athena knew she’d at least caught his attention. That would do for now. She didn’t bother to add anything else before leaving him there, pondering over her words, as she returned to her friends. He would go to her before the day ended, ambition was what drove him after all.

And in the end, ambition was what brought him down. He always thought too big for his brain, and hurried to fights when he was all but blind to his opponent. She knew it, she’d seen it, and this time around was no different, not at all.

It was with Princess Azula on the King’s throne, and Long Feng betrayed by his own men, that this particular chapter in the battle of Ares and Athena ended. His face, as he realized he’d been played yet again by his sister had been delightful to watch; the knowledge that in this world he’d been defeated by a child, made for a bigger smirk on the Princess’ lips. And the fact that he’d thought- he’d genuinely thought, up until the very end- that he’d stood a chance, was a small victory on its own.

“You were never even a player, little brother.” Athena whispered by Ares’ ear as she ended his life in this mortal world, wondering where they’d meet again next, and going to find the boy with the scar on his face. Her new brother needed guidance, and she’d missed him.

1. Tell us 3 useless facts about your favourite OC!: I CANNOT POSSIBLY PICK A FAVORITE OC I AHVE…..SO MANY but i’ve been thinking abt dorado a lot recently while i try to assemble her story so!

1) loves to be up high

2) has a little pipe that doubles as a measuring spoon for one of the chemicals that runs her plane, the pipe is an old one that was a gift

3) knows how to sail!

Tell us about a setting/world you’ve created!: torredaga is the world that me and my friends are (were??) playing a tabletop rpg in!! i say “were” because we technically just finished the whole campaign but we may go back someday, AND i can talk about it for this question anyway cause we built the world together!! torredaga is actually the name of a tiered city built into the side of a cliff and its where a lot of the game takes place, other notable locations are the empire and its capitol helios (which the god ilios founded near the end of his life after searching for a cure to the rat plague), the pelisian islands (which the goddess reylith became the goddess of after landing there on her search for the cure and starting a relationship with a local selkie who was ruling the main island), and erdash’s stronghold (which the deity erdash founded on their quest for a cure and where most of the dwarves live/come from/have relatives)(it also has very stringent anti-rat-plague measures so theyve never had an infection i think). in this world most if not all dwarf names start with ‘er’ to honor ‘erdash’, so there’s erdan, ermax, ermia, erlaz, etc. magic in this world is done through ghosts and crystals (which have ghosts in them): to do magic, you draw a circle. the type and design of the circle varies depending on what you want your magic to do. the concept is kind of a mix between fma alchemy circles and the magic system in the bartimaeus trilogy. my character, noonday, does a lot of experimenting with magic, so she’s invented ghost mics, which are little earpieces that use the power of a ghost to be essentially the same as walkie-talkies, teacups with circles in the rim that when broken will explode or will trap someone briefly, etc etc! in this world is also The Vanta, or (as our KidZ named her) “vanessa”, who was an elf that was left behind when the elves left torredaga to keep an eye on the four remaining elves who DIDNT leave (who became the four gods). she got stuck in a knife at some point but also founded a weird underground refugee city of children (called neverland) where if you drink the water you become a furry and have to join the army. theres SO much in torredaga i love the world i could talk about it for HOURS ask me more questions about torredaga

What are some of the coolest or most interesting (to you!) hobbies/pastimes your OCs have?: OK HONESTLY noonday’s hobby of being a, like, magic scientist, or just like constantly fucking around with new ideas of what to do with magic and coming up with a ton of weird and useful shit along the way, is SO fun and cool and interesting to me, i love it, it was one of my favorite parts of playing her. also my oc sonia from this too shall pass (that was my….2013 nanowrimo) makes rings and i think thats dope as fuck

31. On a scale of one (tucks them in softly and lets them Rest) to ten (murders their whole family before their eyes) how bad do you treat your OCs?:

SGJGDKSLNFDNGJFN I TEND TO……….ive become nicer to my characters in recent years which is probably like a positive expression of my internal state, or something? MY HISTORY OF KILLING CHARACTERS IS STORIED, i killed half the entire cast in the first chapter of my 2015 nano and then worked backwards through their timeline while their reincarnated counterparts worked forwards chronologically which in hindsight was a super cool way to write a story i wish bitter order hadnt been so absolutely horrible in every other conceivable way….i was gonna say that at least one main character in all of my nanos 2010-2015 dies BUT in nano 2012 TECHNICALLY none of the main characters died and the main character turnadot was only transported to the realm of the gods to spend a lonely immortal life maintaining its borders to protect the fabric of the mortal world SO. but as far as meanness goes i like happy endings so i tend to put my characters through a lot of like…..emotional and mental turmoil in the form of like dangerous quests or interpersonal conflict or internal conflict, and then try to resolve it in a fun and satisfying way SO OVERALL I WOULD RATE MYSELF AT A MAYBE 6 OR 7

I’m playing New Vegas for the first time so here’s some First Timer Thoughts

I got a free trial of ps now so unfortunately there’s no dlc but I figure it’ll at least let me see what the hype’s about until I can play the Full Experience

hey look at that, a prologue that shows actual progress after the bombs fell. clearly this is obsidian’s influence

imagine getting off on playing with a helpless mailperson before you kill them. what the fuck suit guy.

tbh most of the character models in this game don’t look that bad once you get used to them but there’s still a few that give me deep-seated existential terror

my problem with the NCR is that they’ve been here this whole time? and the correctional facility is, like, a problem they created? and they’re just not doing anything about it? don’t give me ‘we don’t have enough supplies’

see, this is what I was talking about re: horrifying npcs. this Ranger I got a job from at Mojave Outpost whose mouth--like, I’m not sure if it was a bug or what--but his mouth just didn’t really move and was like a gaping hole the whole time and I’m pretty sure that I’m gonna have body horror nightmares about that later

So how come Jonathan had never met this parabatai and his father never talked about him? Jonathan didn't want to be taken to strangers. He was afraid. She planned on solving Oliver's problem too). With things now calmed down after the Thinker had been defeated, Caitlin worked full-time on trying to bring back Killer Frost. He wasn’t planned, nor was he expected, mainly due to the fact that Aldll had fertility issues of some kind, which had made it so they had enough difficulty having Arifah years and years before. This made having him a complete surprise, to them and the others who had known about their plight when they had originally wanted a child. Aldll, a very motherly sort, was enthralled and excited to have another child to dote on, one who ended up being a son with unique speckly markings that no one in the royal family had seen before, and one who thankfully wasn’t born weak and small like Arifah was.

His markings have actually grown out further than what he was born with, as well. He was originally born with just the pale blue points, horns, and face markings, and as he grew in size and molted/shed more than once, other markings started to appear, until he sported the markings he has now (including some streaks in his bipedal form’s hair, now). It’s unlikely he’ll gain much, if any more at all, seeing that he hasn’t gotten anything new in the last few years. They do tend to draw attention, even though he is aware that there is someone else in the Empire who also has the markings, and thankfully, he also doesn’t mind the attention as long as he’s not swarmed or hugely fawned over. He is more of an introvert than not, so he does prefer anything like that being done from afar.

When he was a bit younger, his parents decided to help along an alliance with another clan, a Light clan, by planning out an arranged marriage with one of the heirs in the clan and Auran. It was made sure that Auran was aware and okay with it, and he was, so he eventually ended up being paired with a slightly younger male Bogsneak known as Helios. The two hit it off quite nicely, actually, Auran’s sweet, introverted nature going well with Helios’s awkward, doubtful one. Even though it wasn’t love at first sight, which is a way things usually were, but it did develop into a loving relationship eventually, and now, the two are rarely ever seen apart if they can help it. Auran is often seen smothering the other dragon with nuzzles and kisses, and Helios often has an arm or tail around Auran.

While Helios, recently turned Pearlcatcher due to his desire to share the sky with Auran, is working on his occasional sword/fighting training, the young Skydancer himself is slowly being taught how to use magic, since he had shown a knack for it when he was quite a bit younger. He isn’t a powerful mage by any means, but he can definitely hold his own in a fight and he’s not weak, either. He’s better at defensive magic and wards overall, that seeming to be his specialty over being on the offense. As of right now, he hasn’t been in any battles, and he hopes to never have to. He doesn’t like fighting as a whole, though he’s fine with learning to defend himself just in case.

His magic is usually used in the form of the small job he managed to land himself, Glassblowing. His shop isn’t a huge one, more a small one nestled within the city limits, but he still gets a good amount of business and he enjoys the work. He has fun dealing with small, delicate objects and giving them life and shape from scratch. His favourite shapes tend to be jewels and dragons, though he’s found out recently that bird shapes are fun too.

He’s a sweet individual, a lot like his mother in that way, very caring and often double/triple checks to make sure someone’s all right, especially if it’s someone he’s very close to. He tends to get very worried easily, and is known for giving gifts and all that when someone’s not doing well or they’re badly hurt or sick. He also has a tendency to fuss a bit, even when someone’s only feeling a little off, or if they’re only scratched slightly (Helios is often one this happens to, though lately he’s also been fussing over his father, Emperor Iaeste, due to how badly hurt he got recently). He does have a huge heart, and he really does dislike seeing pain and suffering, which is likely why he dislikes violence and fighting as a whole. He’s not very talkative for the most part, so things are often shown as opposed to told/said. Either way though, he’s definitely sappy. And very supportive.

The individuals he’s closest to are yes, his family, including the non-related mates of his family (even with Zaith being distrusting and not very social), and of course Helios. He’s also grown close to Evangeline due to their somewhat similar personalities, and to a lesser extent, her mate Johnson and their son, Luke. In fact, he adores playing with Luke and spending time with him and also his caretaker when his parents aren’t around, the Pumpkin-coloured Skydancer, Xabat.

Another thing he adores doing is finding a place with clear/almost clear skies and just flying and zipping around, enjoying the air, occasionally doing tricks or flying very high. He’s at his happiest when up in the air, even though until recently, he usually flew on his own, with Helios keeping an eye on him. Now, even though the younger Pearlcatcher hasn’t gotten quite the hang of flying yet, they often fly together during those times.

The scars on both his shoulders and front legs/arms are due to an accident he had when he was only a few years old, before he learned to fly. He had a bad fall off of a ledge that thankfully wasn’t very high, and had a hard landing on uneven, stony ground, though luckily, even though he got torn up pretty well, he didn’t break a thing. The scars don’t bother him in any way; they don’t hurt him and he’s not self-conscious about them, either. He doesn’t mind that they likely won’t ever fade.

He is often seen around the city, either at his job, or walking around and spen ding time with Helios. He’s rarely alone, usually seen with Helios or with someone else when he’s working, even though it’s rare for him to open up to anyone he’s not close to. He enjoys spending time at the main cafe of the place especially, and he has grown close to both Leo and Rils, two individuals who work there, so it’s not rare to see him chatting with either.

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! Tell me about the different festivals in your world! How are they being celebrated? Why? Are brithdays celebrated as well? Or some other important day in the live of somebody? If yes, who celebrates it with them? Only their family? Or also friends? Or maybe even the whole village?

Hiya! Oh boy oh boy should this be interesting. I’m answering again for A Mother’s Love, because that’s more interesting than my answer would be for gifted or Nature & Nurture

Dorism: They actually don’t really have holidays! I mean, they have a day of mourning on the anniversary of Guenivere Doran’s death during the Third Apocalypse, but that’s hardly a festival - more a day dedicated to them praying feverishly for forgiveness. It’s fine. It doesn’t help that as the Forgotten Children in power have grown more corrupt, they’ve insisted that festivities only serve the Void and her Chaos, so it’s certainly not encouraged. But! To get around that! Whenever there’s a natural event - anything from disasters to meteor showers - there will be impromptu celebrations during and after it happens, because the Forgotten Children will say that it is an acknowledgment from the Creator that She knows they are there, and that She is watching, waiting for them to absolve themselves. It’s dark, but the festivities are fun! Dancing, drinking, eating together - you can see the Doran influences on city elves during these times.

Dakinism: also doesn’t have holidays, because it’s just not culturally significant to them? Elves have hundreds upon hundreds of birthdays, potentially, so while the actually giving birth is lent a certain amount of attention, you don’t celebrate the anniversary, or any anniversary really. They instead celebrate death, because that means the elf who died is fulfilling their ultimate purpose and giving life to future generations. That’s why Dakin elves are so at odds with the majority of the population - besides Ociana, nobody really celebrates death, and Ociana is so far removed from everyone else and have their own problems that outside religions - Dakinism, Dorim, even Shakathism (more on that below) have little to no influence there.

Shakathism: these guys are all about holidays! They’re the polytheistic, major religion of Jya’lemae and, honestly, most of Suda - not all, but most. And since they have... so many gods. Not everyone honors every god because that would be s o m u c h, but they have a holiday each month that everyone celebrates to honor the most popular gods (not the big five main ones, though, because you should honor those every day of your life) - so ten holidays total! I have the notes around here somewhere, hang on.

Quick quick quick overview! Ten holidays let’s go!

Rietzehn! A holiday to celebrate the god of makers and creators! All month you focus on honing your craft, and on Helio Sapta the 21st, the last day of Morrat, your whole town/city/whatever will get together and show it off. Throughout the day is a festival (like, if you’ve ever been to the Renaissance Fair, you know what it feels like) and then that night there’s a sort of ‘talent show’ for those whose crafts are performative!

In the month of Dahamure, there are two ‘holidays’ for the god of justice - the first day is the opening day during which political leaders traditionally address the people - sort of like a state of the union address? And then the closing day, called Caertenam, is when you can travel to air your grievances with your local government - and also when Ica announces whether they’ll do an election that year. (Ica is a democratic monarchy. It’s complicated. We won’t get into it here.) So this one isn’t really a festival or anything, it’s mostly a political thing.

Alanance has what I affectionately refer to as the ‘Springtime Christmas knockoff but not really’! Kutzela is focused on celebrating rebirth and the renewal of platonic, romantic, and familial bonds! Lots of weddings, lots of get-togethers, lots of tears as you apologize, lots of gifts! Hence Christmas but not really because Christmas is a Christian holiday and Shakathism is very much not Christianity.

Cerit has Huadem, which is a flower festival! It’s a day to recognize (and buy) beautiful things! Very popular with lovers, but pretty much everyone celebrates it, and it tends to be another town festival.

Pelary: Lyasir, a light festival thing! All day, you light up as many things as you can to make the world as bright as possible, and then you go outside and enjoy a bountiful feast with your community! There Are No Fir Hazards When You Have Magic!

Irrat: Okay, admittedly, no actual holiday. But! This is the ideal month to advocate for your cause, and most protests for social justice and what-have-you happen during this time! And since it’s Irrat, your politician probably won’t dismiss you out of hand immediately!

Jaument: this is the month for students! This is the month when sages/scribes/students give seminars on their topics of studies - and it’s considered respectful for non-academics to go to at least one such seminar. These seminars are referred to as Abloíra, but students colloquially call it Bloír.

Morane: the entire first week there’s an event called Ilesende, during which theatres put on elaborate plays depicting the slaying of unnatural monsters! It’s also customary during this month to plant and attempt to grow a potted plant, and then on the last day, you plant it outside. If the plant grows healthy and naturally, your family is smiled upon by the gods, and will be protected from natural disasters.

Kornure: Orrans, a day dedicated to wild celebration and tests of strength - lots of festival games dedicated to ‘combat’ in this one!

And finally, Kavine. This is the most important holiday. If you don’t celebrate any of the others, you celebrate this one. Even the most casual worshipper celebrates Baeidenal. During this, you dress up as anything but yourself - some people insist on being scary, some on beautiful, some as just plain weird - and dance in the streets from sunset to sunrise on the longest night of the year (the winter solstice) to keep the darkness at bay and to discourage the Winter from overstaying her welcome.

And that doesn’t even get into the minor holidays that you may celebrate depending on which minor deities you like.

TLDR: most all holidays are religious in nature, there are so many of them, and they’re generally community-wide

Xiaomi may not be the first brand that people in the US think of for smartphones, but they are ranked at #4 worldwide behind Samsung, Huawei, and Apple. I must have forgotten for a moment that this was a Xiaomi event; they are a company known for their fair prices. But I digress! 34″ Mi Curved Gaming Monitor

If your 20″ display is no longer cutting it, you might want to check out the 34″ Mi Curved Gaming Monitor. Sure, the high-resolution WQHD (3440×1440 pixel) screen is perfect for gaming with its 144Hz refresh rate, vivid 121% sRGB wide color gamut, and 1500R curvature for maximum immersion. But that wasn’t all. Xiaomi’s ‘one last thing’ was the introduction of three entry-level phones with “more.”

The Redmi 9 will feature a 6.53″ FDH+ display, Corning Gorilla Glass, Android 10, dark mode, Reading Mode 2.0, a non-slip ripple texture, and a splash-proof design. It will have a 5020mAh battery, a MediaTek Helio G80 processor, up to 4GB of LPDDRX4 RAM, 18W USBType-C fast-charging, and a Dual SIM +microSD slot for up to 512GB storage. As for cameras, the Redmi 9 will have four rear cameras, including an 8-megapixel 118º ultra-wide-angle camera, a 13-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. It will also feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1217 ultra-linear speaker, Bluetooth 5.0, a wireless FM radio, an IR blaster, and NFC. Xiaomi says that Redmi 9 is “definitely the entry-level’s fastest and most powerful smartphone.” The 3GB RAM with 32 GB user memory version will sell for €149, and the 4GB RAM with 64GB user memory version will sell for €169.

The Redmi 9C has a 6.53″ dot drop display, a 5,000mAh battery that has been enhanced for a longer lifespan, a gaming-ready Helios G35 processor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an AI triple camera array with a 13-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The Redmi 9C will start at €119 for the 2GB RAM with 32GB user memory version, and it will be €139 for the 3GB RAM with 64GB user memory version. It will be available late this month.

The Redmi 9A Is described as a “highly reliable device that won’t let you down.” It will feature a 6.53″ dot drop display, a 5,000mAh battery that has been enhanced for a longer lifespan, a Helios G25 processor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, expandable storage up to 512GB, and a 13-megapixel AI camera. The Redmi 9A will start at €99 for the 2GB RAM with 32GB user memory.

Garden Cosmos: How was your day today? Today was tricky. I had a great, calm start with lots of water and self care and things that smell nice, but my day has gotten more frustrating and difficult as it went. I met Charlie for lunch which was lovely, but then people were saying really mean things about my friends and my show at my lab, and then I went to a class that I guess wasn't meeting today, and at work people were mean and they're kinda exploiting my city and calling it an "aesthetic." Plus I'm just regular sad too I guess. I'm feeling sad right now, and maybe a little anxious.
