Wayne is picking up some groceries from Melvaldâs when he sees a kid slumped in the passenger seat of the chiefâs truck. Heâs got a black eye and a sour look on his face, and heâs parked right next to him.
Wayne puts his groceries in his truck and then taps on the window, âWhatâya in for?â
âLiving my life.â
Wayne laughs to himself at that before asking, âDidnât get that black eye putting someone in the hospital?â
The kid snorts, âHardly. Dickhead sucker punched me when I told him to stop messing with a bunch of kids. Didnât have the chance to even hit back before Hopperâs on my ass.â
Wayne takes that into consideration and looks back at the store where Hopper is leaned over the check out counter, talking to Joyce Byers. He tilts his head back and decides, âWanna get out of here?â
âWhat?â
âPrison break?â Wayne suggests, tilts his head towards his truck. âIâll be the getaway driver.â
âSeriously?â
He gets a real smile out of a kid and his eyes light up the way Eddieâs does when he thinks heâs getting away with something. Wayne ends up taking the kid back to his house to hide out since he has a friend in Forest Hills, meets Max Mayfield, and has the best breakfast for dinner heâs ever experienced.
When Eddie finally exits his bedroom into this apparent alternate universe, he asks, ââŠwhy is Steve Harrington in our kitchen?â

"I'm going to marry you one day, Steve Harrington," he declares to all and sundry (Steve and Robin) in Family Video.
Steve laughs, ducks his head, hair a bountiful cascade that doesn't move an inch. He's blushing but it's not, like, a reaction to the sentiment of marriage. Steve knows Eddie is just like that, flirtatious and over-the-top and incapable of not speaking his thoughts as soon as they enter his head.
Robin roles her eyes, goes back to flipping through her magazine, something about cinema, and Eddie swipes his just rented movies off the counter.
"You think I'm joking," he twists so he's facing them, walking backwards to the door. "But I swear it, oh, beloved purveyor of movies and deleter of late fees."
"Yeah, yeah." Steve's face is pinker than before and Eddie recognizes and immediately forces himself to forget how cute it is. "But get out of here before I change my mind."
And Eddie, he loves to push his luck and also has very little filter between his brain and his mouth, so he says, "aw, don't be that way, Stevie, you love me."
Robin looks up, then, mouth a pursed twist as she tries not to laugh. "Gross, Eddie." She throws a Sour Patch at him. "Keep all that mushy stuff to when you two are alone."
It's his turn to blush, fierce and raging, and Steve whirls, squeaking, to whack Robin with a Twizzler.
Eddie points at her. "Rude, Buckley. You know I love you too."
"Again, gross." She sticks out her tongue, tinged blue from the Sour Patch.
"We really need to work on your ability to accept affection," Steve tells her.
She scowls, kicks him, makes Eddie laugh.
"I think that's my cue to leave, children." He says. He, quite literally, bows out of the store, just missing the barrage of candy thrown his way.
---
Three Months Later
Eddie stumbles into the Harrington house, kicking his boots off by the door. Steve's in the kitchen, fussing around the stove. His hair's askew and he's--
"Harrington, are you wearing an apron?" He ignores the kick in his chest at the sight. "You'll make a sweet little housewife one day."
"Shut-up," Steve says without any heat. "Try this."
He brandishes a spoon filled with red sauce in Eddie's direction, and Eddie--heart always on his sleeve--eagerly leans in to taste. He closes his eyes, savors, and it's good, truly. Perfect fresh acidity with just a burst of sweetness.
"It's amazing, baby," he says without thinking. He opens his eyes right in time to see Steve turning back to the sauce, blush high on his cheekbones.
"Thanks. You're making me nervous though, hovering." Steve hip checks him. "Go sit somewhere."
And Eddie does, jumps onto the island--the Harrington's are the kind of people who have an island--and chatters to Steve about his day, about his new campaign, about the new song he's trying to learn.
All the while, he's watching Steve cook, in his apron, with such care and thoughtfulness, with true command. Maybe it's the domesticity of the scene, maybe his raging crush, but he has this flash of the two of them in the future. In their kitchen, Steve cooking dinner, and Eddie's arms are wrapped around his waist, he's pressing kisses to his temple, complimenting all his hard work and--
Steve feeds him a bite of the finished pasta, and it's so good that he groans, full-throated, unembarrassed, and says--he says, "I'm going to marry you one day, Steve Harrington."
He laughs, face pink, batting Eddie's shoulder. "Go sit down, man. It's time to eat."
---
Two Months After That
Eddie's working on a new campaign when the storm rolls in, wind rocking the trailer, thunder and lightning crackling in the sky. The power doesn't go out, but only just barely, the flickers making his heart pound for reasons that have nothing to do with weather.
There's a knock on the trailer door, and he opens it to find Steve Harrington standing on the porch, hair plastered to his head, clothes soaked. Robin's bike is propped against one of the awning supports. Familiar panic snaps to life in his gut.
"God, Steve, are you okay? Did something happen? That's Robin's bike, where's the Beamer? Is it--is it Vecna? Is--" He's blabbering can't stop, so he shoves his palm against his lips.
"It's not--not Upside Down stuff." He runs a hand through his soggy hair. "Can I come in, man? I--I want to tell you something."
This snaps Eddie out of his panic, and he's moving aside, saying, "Oh my god, get in here, you're soaked. Let me get towels. Do you want a change of clothes, I can--"
Steve catches him by the elbow and he full stops at the look in those big hazel eyes, fearful and sad and he doesn't know what, but his anxiety amps back up.
"I was with Robin and we were--we were talking, you know? And I told her that I like somebody, like really like them, but it was unexpected and--and--it's a guy. He's a guy but I still like girls? Robin said--she said that I'm probably bisexual. That I like guys and girls and--and everyone, I think."
It sends shockwaves through him, and he hopes it doesn't show, doesn't think it shows, but he's having trouble processing. Steve is bi and he likes someone and--Eddie stuffs down the jealousy that claws at him, knows it's more important that he's here for his friend.
"Thank you for telling me, sweetheart." He reaches out, slow in case Steve doesn't want to be hugged, but he launches himself into Eddie's arms.
Eddie holds him tight, heedless of his wet clothes, can feel his shoulders shake, and it tears Eddie's heart in two. All he can do is hold Steve and offer comfort, jealousy be damned.
"You're so brave, honey," he says once the tears taper off.
Steve gives a wet chuckle, face still buried against Eddie's neck. "I don't know about that. I think I got snot in your hair."
"It'll wash out." He laughs. "Is now the time to welcome you to the family? Apparently, we're growing exponentially."
"Does the welcome include a cake or something? I could really use cake."
And God, Steve, is so fucking cute, so sweet, so--everything Eddie has always wanted, and he--it's an accident, or at least, thoughtless--he presses a kiss to Steve's temple. More than one.
Steve pulls back fast, and Eddie lets go immediately. "Sorry, sorry. I--that was stupid. You like someone already, and I--"
His words are cut off as Steve kisses him. Steve kisses him? His brain can't process, but he kisses back. Can't not, not with Steve. Like, he doesn't know anything, head empty, but his body is with the program.
They break apart, he's breathing hard. Steve is beautifully flushed, mouth red and swollen. "You like someone," is what Eddie says.
Steve laughs. "I like you, Munson. Fucking crazy about you."
He smiles, so big it hurts, so big it grows into a delight laugh. "I'm going to marry you one day, Steve Harrington," he says.
---
Six Years Later
They're in bed, Saturday morning, rain pattering softly on the window.
Steve places slow kisses against his naked tummy, makes him tremble, shiver with overstimulation.
"Baby," he whines. "Sweetheart."
Steve smiles up at him, something cold pressing against his ribs, then into his hand.
It's a ring, black metal, shiny and iridescent as he turns it in the light. "What--Steve?"
With one last kiss to his hip bone, Steve sits up, slips the ring onto Eddie's finger. "I'm going to marry you one day, Eddie Munson."

âIâm sorry Steve, I thought we were just having fun! I enjoyed you taking me out and paying for everything thatâs allâŠâ Is what Shelley said to him when Steve walked into the bar and saw her flirting with another guy.Â
Obviously, he smiled and shook his head, said everything was okay, âJust a silly misunderstandingâ and left, ever so graceful. But the second he was outside he cursed, tried not to shed a tear, failed, and then started laughing.Â
He probably looks like a mad man, or a drunk. But no, donât worry people, heâs not drunk or crazy, heâs just really, really stupid. He thought Shelley really liked him, he thought they were dating. And Shelley just assumed he was just another playboy so she played him back. Heâs not even mad at her. She didn't mean to hurt him. Itâs not her fault Steve is just so easy to hurt.Â
Sighing, he gets his phone out to get an uber and hugs himself even though itâs not really that cold outside, waiting for his car, already imagining the big, greasy burger heâs going to order when he gets home. He deserves it, okay?
The car that pulls out has definitely seen better days, but itâs clean and comfortable so Steve doesnât think twice about getting in. He offers the driver a smile through the rearview mirror, sparing a moment to notice his eyes are big and dark, and they crinkle when he smiles back at him.Â
Steve sits stiff and straight for a moment before realizing no one is there to judge him right now and he deflates, sighing again and letting himself collapse against the seat. Still hugging himself to feel any sort of comfort, he bumps his head against the window softly a couple of times.Â
âLong night?â The driver asks him in a friendly manner.
Steve meets his eyes in the rearview again and shrugs, smiling back crookedly âThought I should go home early since I already accomplished making an ass of myself for the nightâ
He checks the uber app for the driverâs name, doesnât want to be rude by not remembering. âEddieâ chuckles at Steve's statement.
âYou did, huh? Well good job on getting it out of the way then,â
Steve chuckles back, âYeah, I was actually thinking I deserve a treatâ
He notices Eddie looking back at him a couple of times before breathing an interested, âOh, yeah?â
âYeah,â Steve says, âA huge cheesy burger or somethingâ Wondering what Eddie was thinking heâd say.
Eddie laughs again, âOh! Right of courseâ and just when heâs about to say something else his phone rings.
âOh, sorryâ Eddie murmurs, immediately hanging up on whoever is calling.Â
âNo worries,â Steve mumbles back, sitting up a little straighter again.Â
âSo, whatâs your favorite dirty burger place?â Eddie asks him.Â
Steve can tell heâs trying to distract him from the mood he entered the car with and he really appreciates it.
He sits forward and leans his forearms against the headrest of the passenger seat, âOh, thereâs so many, butâŠâ from this angle, he can see Eddieâs face better, and he canât help but think heâs got a really nice looking profile, long lashes, full lips, and the cutest nose heâs ever seen, âI think Bennyâs the best oneâ he finishes.
Eddie pulls at a stop light and turns to look at him with a smile and heâs so much prettier than Steve first thought he involuntarily gasps. But thankfully Eddie is talking excitedly and doesnât seem to notice.
âNo way you know Bennyâs?! Benny is my uncle! Well, heâs married to my uncle actually- you know what I mean but yeah, Bennyâs is great!âÂ
Itâs such a weird coincidence that it managed to take Steve out of his stupor and heâs suddenly just as excited as Eddie,
âReally? Oh my god, Iâm so jealous right now, I wished I could live at Bennyâs sometimesâÂ
Eddie laughs, and just when he opens his mouth to reply his phone rings again. This time he doesnât immediately hang up and Steve sees the screen light up with the name âyou deserve betterâÂ
Ouch, he thinks, and his heartstrings tug for his cute, sweet, uber driver. Who offered him friendly conversation cause he noticed he was feeling down and has the most beautiful laugh. He doesn't really know why he feels so strongly about it, he doesn't even know Eddie⊠but he still feels the text is right. Whoever hurt him, Eddie deserved better.
âHey,â He says softly when Eddie hangs up cursing.
Eddie sighs again, âIâm so sorry,âÂ
âHey, no. Itâs fine,â Steve replies, resisting the urge to place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
He figures, after the way his night started, heâs got nothing to lose so he says, âSo much talk about Bennyâs I feel like I need to go there right now.âÂ
Eddie letâs out a distracted âHuh?â and Steve soldiers on, âWanna change the destination and join me? You can take me home after,â
He notices Eddie doing a double take and blushing, âReally? I- Am- I- okayâ he stammers but Steve canât really figure out why.
âYeah, you know, that way you donât lose time on the job and have another ride?â He finishes and Eddie laughs,
âOh, right. Yeah That- makes senseâ
They keep talking about their favorite things on the menu on the way there and soon they are sitting face to face in a booth at Bennyâs.
What a pair they make, Steve in a three piece suit, jacket off, vest undone and shirt rolled up to his forearms. And Eddie with sweats and a hoodie.Â
Eddie is even better looking in the shitty dinner light and the blush that adorns his cheeks ever since they came in makes Steve wanna kiss them to feel their warmth.
Benny himself comes to take their order, and Eddie gets up to hug him and introduces him to Steve. They already know each other, because Steve does come to the dinner often and Benny lets Eddie know that.
Eddie thinks it's hilarious that they both have been here so much and never saw each other before, but Steve canât help to think itâs a shame.
âI actually wouldâve loved to have met you sooner,â he tells Eddie at one point and watches curiously as Eddieâs blush turns a few shades darker.
As they eat, Steve tells Eddie about Shelley, about his hopes, about misreading the situation, about his shame. How he doesnât even think he liked Shelley that much, but he just wanted to have something real. Eddie gets mad at him for blaming himself, tells him it wasnât his fault, that heâs being too hard on himself. And itâs not a bad thing to consider but all Steve can think about is how cute Eddie looks when heâs mad on his behalf.
Eventually, Eddie tells Steve about whoever was calling him.Â
âI met him at my last job. I thought he was so cool but turns out he was actually just cold,â Eddie shrugs, âWe dated for like 6 months or something, not that long but, I was miserable the whole time and I didnât even realize it was because of him.âÂ
Eddieâs hand is tearing up a paper napkin between them and Steve tentatively settles his hand over Eddieâs, who stops destroying the napkin and smiles gratefully at Steve, holding his hand back.
âThe worst part is I didnât even break up with him, he broke up with me,â Eddie chuckles self-deprecatingly, âBut he still wanted to keep me around I guess⊠And I⊠didnât want to feel lonelyâÂ
They both stay quiet for a moment after that, and Steve stares at their hands joined over the greasy dinner table and thinks about loneliness, about how he doesn't feel it right now, with Eddie.
âSo, what happened?â he asks after a bit.
âI did eventually realize he was the one making me feel like shit so I stopped seeing him but he didnât appreciate my new sense of self-respect,â Eddie says lightly and Steve instinctively squeezes his hand protectively, which makes Eddie smile again, âIâm doing just fine now though, I told him to fuck off and got a new job. And itâs actually pretty good, ya know?â
Steve canât help but smile back at Eddieâs cute expression, âYeah?â
âHell yeah, my own hours? Good money? Plus Iâve always liked driving around, it calms me. And I get to meet really interesting peopleâŠâ he says, winking at Steve and making him chuckle.
âWell, Iâm glad then. Proud of you for getting out of there,â
âMe too,â Eddie says and looks up as Benny walks over to them.
âSorry to interrupt boys, but we are about to close for the night,â He says, stifling a yawn.
Steve looks surprised at his watch, itâs almost 2 A.M. He canât believe heâs been sitting here with Eddie for hours when it only felt like a few minutes.
He offers to cover the bill but Benny fights him over it and says itâs his treat. And Eddie offers to take him home no charge. So they get in Eddieâs car again only this time Steve sits next to him instead of in the back and they talk about music on their way to his place while Steve changes the radio stations. Laughing, singing and joking around, itâs such a good time. It feels like theyâve been doing this forever, like they could do thisâŠforever. But eventually they arrive at Steveâs building and suddenly Steve doesnât want the night to end.Â
Heâs about to tell Eddie as much, maybe invite him inside, when his phone rings again, the âyou deserve betterâ staring at them. But Eddie immediately grabs his phone and hangs up, blocking the number after.Â
âThere, he canât call me again,â he says with a sigh.
âCan I see your phone for a second?â Steve ventures, making a last second decision.
Eddie looks surprised but curious as he hands it over and Steve punches his phone in.
âIf you ever feel like unblocking him, or calling him back⊠Why donât you try calling me instead?â he says in a rush and then walks out of the car, not lingering to see Eddieâs reaction.
Thereâs always the positivity that he got things wrong again, got too invested too soon again and he doesnât want to know tonight. Heâll deal with it later, if Eddie doesn't call.
đđ±đđ
It takes only two days for Steveâs phone to ring, an unknown number flashing on his screen. He picks it up feeling a little out of breath for no reason at all.
âHello?âÂ
âSteve?â
âEddie, Iâ
âWait- before you say anything I just want you to know that I didnât call because I wanted to call him, or I was thinking about him. I called because I canât stop thinking about you, I wanted to talk to you. Okay?â
âEddie- yes! Itâs more than okay, I- I was hoping youâd callâ

Ok hear me out!!!
Steve is a musician who sings pop music and posts on TikTok. Heâs kind of a C-ish list celebrity (definitely a bit of a nepo baby) and his music is poppy and catchy. Itâs the kinda stuff that you can immediately tell is coming from someone who is actively holding things back/ isnât writing from any truth. Mall music at its purest form. Then one day with no announcement Steve drops a double sided album that is like GOOD GOOD pop music. Itâs also noted very quickly that the pronouns in all the songs have definitely switched to he/him. People freak out and he starts charting for the first time in his career. Kinda Chappell Roan-esque situation where he skyrockets to being a queer pop icon very very quickly.
He starts doing interviews. He shows up to these interviews in outfits arenât dramatically changed from what he usually wore (polos, jeans, bomber jackets, 80s jock vibes) but itâs all just much more camp. The cropped shirts are shorter, the jeans are tighter, and the colors are all suddenly pastel. He has also started wearing makeup (not heavy makeup but itâs definitely a lipgloss, eyeliner, mascara, highlight/blush on the tip of his nose type situation). He shares that he dropped his old producer (who he had been set up with by his father) and that heâs now working with his best friend Robin. He comes out as gay, talks about his struggle with comp-het, and proudly shares that he is super excited to contribute to the growing movement of music that is being written by queer people, for queer people. His TikTok also blows up.
This is when Tommy Hagan first starts showing up. Tommy is an actor who is pretty well known for doing teen drama TV shows (like Riverdale type deals). He introduces himself to Steve at some sort of industry event right after Steve gets big and pretty quickly starts showing up in his TikTok videos. It comes out that the two are dating pretty quickly after that. They date off and on for about a year and a half. Tommy is a shitty enough boyfriend that even Steveâs fans donât like him. He stands him up for dates, embarrasses him at events, says rude and dismissive things about his music, etc. Robin (who is also kinda famous by proxy/writes her own music now similar to Billie Eilish and Finneas) absolutely hates his guts. Publicly. They finally break up officially after Tommy cheats on Steve with an actress named Carol who is on a show with him. It gets exposed by the tabloids and Steve finds out by seeing a photo of them making out on one of those celebrity drama TikTok accounts.
Eddie is also getting famous around this same time. Heâs the lead for Corroded Coffin and also starts acting occasionally in horror films. He doesnât really pay much attention to other celebrities or the drama that goes on. He was never into that kind of thing before the band took off so he doesnât see why he should now. Eddie and the rest of the band are at an awards show of some sort and the others make fun of him the whole time. He canât stop staring at this absolutely beautiful man sitting at a table near them. âThe guy is wearing a slutty little lace shirt, the tightest pants in existence, and has skin that looks like honey and caramel had a child Gareth you really canât blame me honestly.â Steve and Eddie donât officially meet until the after party where they immediately hit it off.
A few months later Steve announces a new album and releases a single. Itâs just Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter but gay and clearly about Tommy.
The music video comes out and people loose their minds. Itâs the same sort of video as what Sabrina Carpenter just released for Please Please Please with the stunning outfits and the whole bad boy thing. Steve spends the whole video in dresses and skirts. Thereâs even a corset at one point. The bigger freak out is the fact that the Barry Keoghan equivalent is Eddie and its a hard launch of their relationship that fans had absolutely zero clue was even a possibility because why would horror/metal man Eddie Munson even know Steve Harrington???? Robin and the Corroded Coffin guys think the whole thing is hilarious. Eddie and Steve are so so happy :)
#steddie#steve harrington#eddie munson#musicians au#should i write this?#steddie fanfiction#Tommy Hagan also gets very angry and embarrasses himself publicly after the song comes out#Steveâs album then definitely contains a song along the lines of Chappell Roanâs My Kink is Karma#famous steve harrington#famous eddie munson#celebrity au#stranger things#I would write this if people would read it

When Eddie comes out to him, Steve makes a big mistake. His first reaction was to thank him for trusting him, which is what Robin told him to do in this situation.
But his second reaction was to say âI also like guys.â
Eddie blinked at him, clearly confused and defensive, like maybe Steve was making fun or not taking him seriously.
âUh. You do?â
âYeah man! I mean, no one else knows, but yeah.â
Eddie smiled and thanked him for trusting him with it, said they should hang out more, and recommended a queer bar in Indy if he needed a safe place to explore.
And Steve smiled and nodded like he couldnât agree more.
As soon as Eddie was gone, he rushed to the phone in his kitchen and called Robin.
She called him an idiot, a dingus, a bisexual disaster âwhatever that wasâ, and told him he absolutely wasnât allowed to go to a queer bar without her.
She did at least agree to keep up the lie until he could find a way out of it without Eddie thinking he lied to hurt him or something.
But he started hanging out a lot more with Eddie and finding that they had more in common than he originally thought.
Eddie took Robin and Steve to the queer club and SteveâŠfelt at home, felt welcomed, felt like he belonged. Robin kept giving him these looks all night, and Eddie kept dragging him to meet people who he cared about, and one of the guys on the dance floor kept pulling him out there to dance with him.
He felt free and alive and-
Queer.
It hit him as the guy, Paul maybe, was pulling him closer by his waist as his hips rocked to the beat of a song he didnât recognize but felt like something he wanted on a mixtape. It hit him that he liked this because he liked dancing with Paul like this. He liked this because he saw himself visiting more, even without Eddie and Robin. He liked this because he could picture making out with Eddie in the bathroom.
He froze.
âYou okay, sweet thing?â Paul asked him.
âI think Iâm in love with my friend.â
Paulâs eyes widened momentarily before patting Steveâs hip. âIs he gay, honey?â
âHuh?â Steve was already trying to find Eddie in the crowd. âOh, yeah. Heâs here tonight.â
âShouldnât you be dancinâ with him then?â
Steve finally looked back at Paul, who had his hands on his own hips now, teasing smile on his face.
âYeah. I should,â Steve thanked him, apologized for any misleading, which was immediately brushed off. Paul was here to dance, he didnât much care for who he was dancing with.
âSend that beauty over here. She looks like she needs some lessons,â Paul pointed to Robin, who was still looking a little nervous despite the friendly bartender handing her sodas every time he passed by her.
âSheâs gay, man.â
âSo am I! Doesnât mean we canât dance!â
Steve laughed. âYouâre right.â
He walked over to Robin quickly, avoided getting pulled back into the crowd.
âIâm in love with Eddie.â
Robin rolled her eyes. âI know, dingus. You literally risked your entire reputation to come to a queer bar to try to impress him.â
Steve balked. âThatâs not what this was!â
âUh huh. Well heâs sulking in the bathroom if you wanna go tell him.â
âSulking? Why?â
âHe saw you dancing with that guy. Think he assumed you were interested in him.â
âNot a chance. I prefer long hair and ripped jeans,â Steve winked. He turned to walk towards the hall with the bathrooms when Robin stopped him.
âDonât do this if youâre not 100% sure,â she said seriously. âEddie really likes you and it would destroy him if you were lying to make him feel better.â
âI wouldnât do that,â Steve started, but stopped when Robin gave him a look.
âYouâve literally been pretending to be queer for the last two months because he came out to you and you accidentally came out to him. Youâre lucky it wasnât a complete lie.â
âYeah but I wouldnât fuck with his feelings like that.â Steve knew what it was like to be led on. He wouldnât do that to Eddie. âIâll be careful with him.â
âAnd be careful with you.â
He saluted her as he walked away.
When he found Eddie sitting on the counter at the sink in the bathroom, he was swinging his legs back and forth and humming something distinctly less pop than what was playing on the dance floor. No one else was in here, but that didnât mean no one would walk in.
He walked over to Eddie and placed a hand on his knee.
Eddie immediately stopped kicking his feet and looked up.
âWhatâs with the face?â Steve asked, reaching up to touch the line between his brows that always appeared when he was pouting.
Eddie shrugged. âJust not feeling it tonight I guess.â
âThe music isnât really your thing. Kinda surprised you like this place,â Steve said as his hand drifted down to his wrist. âSeems closer to a small club than a bar.â
âYou seemed to be enjoying yourself.â
Eddieâs tone was sharp, laced with jealousy. Even if Steve hadnât had his realization five minutes earlier, he wouldâve seen what that was from a mile away.
âI was until I realized Iâd rather be out there with you.â
Eddie snorted. âI donât really dance.â
âBut youâd dance with me if I asked, right?â Steveâs fingers circled his wrist and he tugged Eddie off the counter. âEven if I asked you to do it right here with no music?â
âSteve, what are you doing?â
âDancing. Or trying to.â Steve rested his hands on Eddieâs hips and started swaying them in sync with his. âIt is hard without music.â
âWhy donât you go back out there?â Eddieâs hands went around Steveâs neck.
âBecause youâre not out there. I donât wanna be where you arenât.â
âSteve-â
âYou know I didnât actually know I liked guys until tonight?â Steve huffed out a laugh. âWell, I really like this one guy. Not sure about others yet.â
Eddie was silent, but didnât push Steve away.
âHe was hiding in this bathroom though. I didnât really think heâd join me out there, so I brought the dancing to him,â Steve winked.
âYou like me? You? Like me?â
Steve nodded.
âAnd you just realized this?â
âKinda.â
âIn a queer bar?â
âMhm.â
âThatâs pretty gay, dude.â
Steve snorted and smacked Eddieâs chest. âThatâs the point.â
Eddie moved in impossibly closer, no room for Jesus between their chests anymore. âSo you lied when you came out to me?â
âI panicked! But it doesnât actually count as a lie if Iâve seen the light.â
âWas it a rainbow light? Or the reflection of the disco ball in the glitter shorts Perry was wearing?â Eddie joked.
âPerry!â Steve smacked his own forehead. âHeâs nice. Made me come tell you how I feel.â
âOh. He did?â Eddie seemed shy for maybe the first time ever.
âYeah. Said I should come dance with you if Iâm in love with you.â
Steve hadnât felt like this in a while, and hadnât left his heart on his sleeve like this in even longer. As Eddieâs face went from shy to shocked to flustered, Steve thought about how long heâd been dancing around these feelings.
But no more dancing around them. Now it was time to dance with them.
âCanât believe you just said youâre in love with me in the bathroom of a queer bar. Donât even think they clean this place,â Eddie laughed, letting his forehead fall against Steveâs.
âIâll tell you again outside.â Steve kissed his cheek. âAnd in the van.â His nose. âYour house, my house.â The corner of his mouth. âEverywhere.â
Eddie licked his lip, skipping over a soft kiss for a hungry one. It was hot, desperate, impatient. Everything Steve hadnât known he needed.
Then again, he hadnât even actually known he liked guys until tonight. Maybe he was just late to learn things about himself.

I need more famous musician Eddie content where heâs still super fucking lame and freaks out around other musicians
Like, Iâm thinking about the video of JQ getting to meet with Metallica and play with them and Hetfield asks if he wants them to sign the guitar and Joseph gets so excited about it.
Eddie at an after party or something and he left Steve (and Robin because she refused to not be invited if Steve was coming (he gave her a âjobâ just so she could come)) to go get them some drinks and when he comes back Steve is talking to Brian May like heâs just a normal guy. Steve had been talking to Robin about Dustin getting an internship at NASA and Brian May inserted himself so he could ask about Dustinâs job.
Eddie comes over, nearly vibrating, and Steve introduces him to âBrian, heâs an astrophysicist!â and Eddie nearly passes out when he shakes his hand as if this isnât a member of Queen.
It becomes a theme for them at events where Steve makes conversation with these world famous musicians about real life things all while Eddie is trying to act like a normal person standing in front of James fucking Hetfield.
The eventually develop a way for Eddie to subtly signal to Steve that this is one of his heroes so that Steve can steer the conversation to music and give Eddie an in.
I just need more social butterfly Steve and his music nerd boyfriend Eddie who panics whenever Steve befriends a famous person.
#steddie#stranger things#steve harrington#eddie munson#platonic stobin#kind of? itâs mentioned#eddie will squeeze steveâs hand to tell him âsteve holy shit this is someone i have posters of in my roomâ#the day eddie meets ronnie james dio he blacks out for the whole conversation and doesnt come back to his body for two hours

Eddie stands at the bar, sipping at the whisky in his glass, eyes flickering over the crush of bodies and dark mahogany. He's at a premier party at TIFF, doesn't remember what movie it's for, is supposed to "mingle" according to his agent. And sure, he's charismatic, got a big personality and a loud mouth, but he's not good at networking; resents having to perform when he's not playing a role. Resents it more that he's an Oscar nominated actor, that his work doesn't stand for itself.
And then there's the Steve Harrington of it all. Heartthrob. America's Sweetheart. The boy next door. He's across the room, deep in conversation, but his eyes--they keep finding Eddie, scanning him with unmistakable heat.
They starred in a movie called Dying on the Pass. Played life-long best friends who became elite chefs and opened a restaurant together. The movie follows the dissolution of their friendship as the stresses of pursuing a Michelin Star drive them apart. It was a critical and commercial hit, cue awards noms, and offers pouring in, and--
Steve Harrington is his bed.
They promised, when filming wrapped. They swore it was the last time. They promised--
They basically shared a hotel room during awards season, woke up tangled together every morning.
They spent a torrid weekend in Atlanta after Steve wrapped on a Netflix action movie.
Six months after, they had a quick, furious fuck in the bathroom at a club in London.
Dangerous, stupid, but no one caught them. And here Steve is in Toronto, surrounded by press, staring at Eddie like he wants to eat him.
Eddie tries to ignore it. But every time their eyes meet, warmth pools low in his abdomen, and he wants.
They meet up eventually, pose for a couple of pictures, Eddie trying to ignore the way his skin tingles everywhere that Steve touches. Steve slings an arm around his waist, lets it linger.
After, Eddie goes out for a smoke, the patio blissfully deserted. He's half way through his cigarette when Steve steps out the sliding door, wrapping his hands in Eddie's hair, pulling him into a kiss. The cigarette drops as he grips onto the other man, a whimper slipping from his lips.
He should stop this, they're outside, anyone could see, and Steve isn't out--isn't--he's straight to the entire world, the straightest man alive. And Eddie, he's open about his preferences, identifies as queer, though lately he's been more interested in men--in one man, specifically-- and Steve isn't out, isn't ready to be and--
"Come back to my room?" Steve asks. Their mouths are still pressed together.
"Uh-huh," Eddie answers.
Steve whispers his room number before disappearing back inside. They're in the same hotel, on the same floor, like the universe wants them to keep hooking up. But Steve is being reckless.
Eddie goes to Steve that night with every intention of telling him they need to stop, to slow down, that they're going to get caught and he knows Steve isn't ready, but he doesn't. He doesn't that night and he doesn't two months later when they bump into each other in Venice, or four months after that in New York, or--or --or
It's dangerous, impulsive, too many close calls for them to keep it up and then--and then he's at a house party in the hills, an industry thing, the host is a wannabe big shot producer trying to get in good with the Hollywood elite. Steve is out of town. In Europe filming or maybe Australia for some event or--
Striding through the party, eyes locked on Eddie, and they're in a hallway, in a hallway where anyone could see them, but Steve is kissing him. They're kissing and it's rough and possessive and it stings.
Steve pushes him through double-doors, to the room at their backs, and Eddie wants to protest, to remind him they don't know if it's empty. But Steve is tugging the tie out of Eddie's hair, digging this hands into the now loose curls, and Eddie whines, lets himself be lead.
He's pushed against a table, and in the weak light from the windows, he realizes they're in the dining room. Steve grinds against him, muttering, "missed you so much, baby. God, it's been too long. Need you so bad."
Eddie moans, shifting to press more against Steve. "Missed you too, sweetheart, fuck."
They're kissing and Eddie's high on it, on Steve, can't get enough.
There's a loud burst of laughter outside the door, and reality smashes back into focus.
"Stop," he whispers to Steve.
Steve does in an instant, stepping back. Even in the darkness, Eddie sees the confusion and hurt mingling in the squint of his eyes, his light frown.
"Steve we--this is dangerous. There are people everywhere. Anyone could come in. There's a TMZ guy here, and we--need to be careful."
"Fuck," Steve breathes. "Eddie I--fuck." He presses his hand over his mouth, eyes squeezed shut. "I can't get enough of you, man. Whenever I see you I just--I don't think--I see you and I want you so bad it hurts. Once every few months isn't enough. Hookups aren't enough. And I know that's not what we agreed to, and--"
"Steve," Eddie gently cuts him off. "I'm crazy about you. It hasn't been hookups for me for--" ever, it had never been, but he shakes his head instead of saying that. "But we've been reckless, sweetheart, and I don't want to see you hurt."
"It's not fair to you, though, right? Hiding and sneaking around with me."
"You need time, Steve. You deserve to come out on your terms, when you're ready. And if that means we're not public for a while, then we're not."
"What if I'm never ready?" He whispers. It breaks Eddie's heart, but it's a fair question for a man who got famous as an angelic child star in a series of fantasy-adventure movies before playing a quarterback with a heart-of-gold on the CW for seven seasons. He's always kept up a squeaky clean image, never in trouble, name rarely in the tabloids.
"Then we'll deal with it together."
"Okay," Steve whispers. A smile spreads slow across his face. "I'd like that."
--
Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson are seen around town together often. Getting lunch, at parties, shopping. In an interview Steve says that Eddie's his best friend, they do everything together. There's speculation online, of course, but it's pretty quiet. So, they go to premiers and award shows and events together.
A year goes by and it's easy, light, fun. They're in love.
Eddie's messing around on his guitar, not with any intent just for the joy of it. He's on the loveseat in the office of their apartment--their apartment. Steve is in the kitchen, he thinks, or puttering in the garden.
They haven't talked about Steve coming out; haven't needed to.
"Hey," Steve says from the doorway. Eddie jumps.
"Hey yourself."
"It's Bi Visibility day."
"Is it now?" He's not sure where this is going
"I want to come out."
He puts the guitar down. "You sure?"
Steve nods. He doesn't seem nervous, just calm and steady.
"How do you want to do it?"
He crosses the room, climbing onto Eddie's lap, making Eddie laugh. "Works for me." Eddie gives Steve's ass a playful squeeze.
They start kissing then, Steve snapping pics on his phone randomly as they make out.
Steve won't let Eddie peak as he crafts his Insta post, not until it's done and live for his 15 million followers.
The picture he picked, it's a soft kiss, mouths open but lips only just brushing, noses pressed together in a sweet little bump. But the thing about, the thing that makes Eddie's stomach swoop, is the way they're both smiling, the way it's obvious just how in love they are.
Steve's captioned it with the words "Witness Me" and the bi flag.
He pulls his boy into another kiss, says, "Hey,"
"Hmm?" Steve doesn't pull away.
"Wanna go be visibly bisexual with me in the bedroom?"
Steve hops off his lap, strides across the room, turning to flash Eddie a devious smile. "Thought you'd never ask."

And really, that was just uncalled for.
âHey,â Steve protested, âwhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âCome on,â Dustin scoffed. âWhen was the last time you went on a date?â
âLast night.â Obviously.
âThat wasnât a date!â Eddie called from across the room making Dustin shoot Steve a smirk that was deeply patronising.
âI paid for your dinner, we went to a movie and i kissed you goodnight,â Steve yelled back, rather pointedly and without thinking about it.
If heâd thought about it, he might have been paying more attention to the sudden silence in the Wheelerâs basement and not the way Eddie was frowning as he thought over Steveâs words.
âAlright,â Eddie conceded. âYou have a point.â
âA point?â Dustin demanded voice high and squeaky and almost completely overriding Wheelerâs âYou kissed him goodnight?â
âYou went on a date with Eddie?!â
âYes, Dustin, i went on a date!â Steve snapped triumphantly, completely missing the point.
âWith Eddie?â Dustin squawked.
âYes, with Eddie,â Steve confirmed exasperatedly.
âA guy.â Wheeler had an odd tone that had Steve looking at him funny.
And then he realised what was going on.
Heâd just come out to the party in an argument with Dustin.
Heâd just come out in an argument with Dustin to the party in the Wheelerâs basement when Robin was not around.
And maybe he should have been focusing on the whole coming out thing, and also possibly the Eddie didnât know it was a date thing, but mostly he was just a little worried that if he didnât immediately talk to Robin she was going to kill him for being the last to know.
The paling of Steveâs face must have been spectacular. Eddie was just the only one who seemed to realise why he was freaking out because over the top of Dustin demanding when Steve decided he was into guys he said, âYou should probably go tell Robin.â
âYeah. Yep. Doing that now.â

Eddie, who is intently watching Steve, fidgeting every so often. If Eddie was a cat, his tail would be flicking back and forth with rapid increasing movements as he got ready to attack.
Steve, who was so innocently watching the game, happens to realize he hasn't heard Eddie say anything for awhile. Which means one (1) thing: he's up to mischief.
Steve barely has time to turn his head to look when Eddie tackles into him. Steve falls back further onto the couch with a grunt as his boyfriend wrenches his shirt up. "The hell-" Steve's hands are in the air, unsure if he should pull Eddie closer or push him away.
The hesitation gives Eddie enough time to attempt to slither under his shirt. Eddie can only fit his head and the tops of his shoulders under Steve's form-fitting t-shirt, but it's enough. His eyes light up at the torso covered in hair and freckles.
Eddie lays his head against Steve's chest with a dull thud, echoing the thudding of Steve's heart. Eddie snakes his arms around Steve's waist. Eddie can feel Steve slowly place a hand on his back, and stroke up and down his spine.
Steve lightly pulls the neck back so he can look down his shirt at Eddie. Eddie doesn't see it, the look on his face, content to just lay there with his eyes closed. But the adoration, love, and pure glee can't be held back on Steve's face.
#Eddie complains offhandedly that he can't see the tv (he wasn't watching to begin with)#And Steve just stretches the neck down and Eddie is just like OH#Because Steve hates necks that are stretched out and loose and ill fitting (Eddie wears them cause they are comfy)#But knowing Steve was willing to potentially ruin one of his shirts because Eddie wanted to see TV?#Oh he's done for!! He's gonna marry that man (it isnt legal in 1990 but he's already done other criminal things he'll do this too)#Eddie has a dopey grin on his face and Steve isn't even thinking twice#Robin comes in and fake gags at the lovefest and immediately leaves#Steddie#Jade is Talking#Steve Harrington x Eddie Munson#Eddie Munson x Steve Harrington
