Since I've been seeing some G2S stories on here, why not the opposite? Straight and traditional men becoming massive himbo sluts begging for other men to use them~
The jock studies phenomenon that has been sweeping the nation (and turning students into muscular jocks submissive to their coaches) hasn’t been without its detractors. Certain students and faculty alike spread crazy, impossible rumors about ‘transformations’ and ‘brainwashing’. Most misunderstandings were cleared up by a simple discussion with one of the program's coaches (which would often end with a new jock studies student sucking off said coach happily). But some put up more of a fight. Surprisingly it’s not usually the students that do this. Being younger they’re usually far more open, more malleable, and more willing to give Jock Studies a chance. It’s actually the teachers who cause the most problems for the program. They’re more stubborn, more experienced with the world, and often very protective of their students. Still, it’s an easy fix. Takes a bit more effort, more meetings with a coach, and a more forceful approach, but soon you have a willing new coach for the program. But those who really put up a fight, who cause the coaches and jocks a unique amount of trouble, they face… a special punishment. Take Chester here. He was a student, but he didn’t act like it at all, acting more like his father who was the Dean of students. He and his father were both traditional, stern, horribly homophobic and annoyingly perceptive. They proved to be quite the obstacle for the program, and together threatened to ‘expose their sinful ways to the world’, whatever that meant. So, when they were unable to break the Dean with the usual methods… the coaches at the school thought of something special. Instead of breaking the Dean, they broke Chester. Right in front of him. And they didn’t make him a regular jock either, but a flamboyantly gay one. It wasn’t long before Chester was spreading his legs for the football team's coach as his father watched. Soon both father and son were broken, with Chester as a proud new member of Jock Studies major and the Dean a brainwashed tool. It’s always fun to watch straight men break for coach.

**maybe not my best story but I love straight to gay stuff and figured with this prompt I could revisit the Jock Studies idea.**

Re: "Resolution"
The other reason I think Hellers need to believe that the "confession" needs to be addressed is that they insist Castiel "came out as gay" in that speech even though he did no such thing. So they want Cas to be openly gay in obvious ways in a revival because "they can't just put him back in the closet."
The thing is, for a long time, Heller fandoming has felt less like enjoyment of the show and more like desperately wanting to WIN some zero-sum competition with other fans. I think part of why they insist that Cas is gay as indisputable, textual, canon fact is because that makes it homophobic to have other readings of him like headcanoning him as asexual/not experiencing love in a human way or shipping him in a m/f ship (you should see how they treat Megstiel shippers!) It's about claiming him as THEIRS, in service to their ship, and taking him away from other fans.
If there's a revival and Cas is in it and not their "gay angel," they'll claim it's censorship or erasure when the fact is he was never gay in the first place. Saying "I love you" to another man ≠ coming out as gay. Coming out as gay = saying "I'm gay."
Absolutely.
I don't really have anything much to add to this because I agree completely on all points. Whatever it may have started as, it has very much turned into prioritizing needing to "win" and "own" the characters, the show, and the fandom for hellers. I know they've been awful to Megstiel shippers and I don't even recognize the versions of Dean or Castiel their meta involves, because they're not allowed to have any thoughts or motivations in their heads that doesn't link back to wanting to have gay sex with each other. Even any theoretical writing of the ship into the canon actually being done remotely well doesn't seem to matter to them at this point - so long as it happens someway, somehow to give them the "win".

The funniest thing to me is Dean's utter hypocrisy when it comes to Cas. Cas is the truest exception to the rule Dean has ever had.
He says 'pErsOnAl SpaCE' and then proceeds to fling himself in Cas' direction every opportunity he gets, and practically sit on his lap whenever he sees fit.
He says 'I don't beg' but screws his eyes shut and clamps his hands together, and gets down on his old creaky knees whenever he needs Cas.
He says 'No chickflick moments' yet spends 75% of his time around Castiel engrossed in deep conversations about his thoughts and feelings. He's the first one to force Cas to talk if he so much as sighs.
He says 'I don't swing that way' and then flirts with Cas hard enough to break a hip.
In short, Cas is everything that John trained Dean to hate. He's a non-human, gay male-presenting little weirdo, and Dean fell for him so hard it's embarrassing.
You made him a mix-tape, Dean. Come on.
i knew this. like i know this about dean and cas. but reading this makes me feel fuzzy and i started to crawl on the floor. is anyone else experiencing these symptoms

Destiel Fic Recs
It's that time of year where nobody knows what day it is or how they got there, so why not hide from your family/boss to read Destiel fics. And friends, this last list of 2022 may be the best so far.
The Leap by FriendofCarlotta @friendofcarlotta (Explicit, 82k words)
I don't know how to explain the way 91W lit up my brain like one of those old electricity balls at Spencer's but I thought I would never have that experience again until this fic came along. It's a very different, much softer story, but this fic has the 91W vibes that make you want to crunch on your own bones (vintage gay sadness is the tag we live in here). Its so deeply rooted in a sense of place and time. Dean and Cas are so clearly and immediately bonded and kept apart by circumstance. The longing y'all. The way they can't help but fall in love at the risk of their lives and freedom. It's gorgeous.
The fic is set in post WWII occupied Berlin in a divided Germany just before the wall goes up. Cas is a closeted police officer in East Berlin, trying his best to survive under a brutal dictatorship in an environment in which reporting your neighbors is not just encouraged, but expected. Dean is an American-born mechanic residing in West Berlin. For both of them, falling in love with a man could mean arrest, prosecution, and worse.
But they can't help the instant attraction between them. Neither of them is ready to walk away from the hope of a future together, as impossible of a dream as that is.
Beyond the 91W vibes, the thing about this fic is that the canon parallels are just so beautiful. Cas is expected to comply with a rigid hierarchy and to obey absolutely. Dean is trying his best to find optimism for those around him, and he has an irresistible early seasons charm and brashness that makes you fall instantly in love with him. And while there is period homophobia and oppression in this fic, FriendofCarlotta also pulls so much queer joy into the story. A slice of gorgeous community built against all odds and euphoria at finding love and family and shelter in the most hostile of places.
This story made me ugly cry (a true feat) and it's one of those stories you finish and consider turning back to Chapter 1 and reading it all over again. Seriously. Go read it then yell at me about it.
The Law of Equivalent Exchange by awed_frog @awed-frog (Mature, 60k)
This is the fic you have to read in one sitting because you don't want to be crushed by a falling desk like in Mystery Spot and never see the ending. It is gorgeous in a way that I think may have irrevocably changed me. A testament to love and devotion that left me absolutely breathless.
Cas, Angel of Tears, is assigned to watch over the lives of two brothers, tied together and experiencing hundreds of lifetimes of sorrow and joy in preparation for some mysterious Heavenly plan. His mission is to watch over a green-eyed boy, to guide him into each next life. The human doesn't know, doesn't remember (mostly), but it's impossible to ignore the growing bond between them. Cas finds himself inexorably changed by watching the many lives he experiences.
This is a canon fic (and tbh if you don't know canon the middle is going to confuse you because it's a reimagining of canon events with this context). That means awed-frog has somehow managed to make the crunchy Destiel scenes even more heart wrenching (extra crispy?).
This fic had me crying by Chapter 2. It's just a beautiful sweeping epic. And it does have a soft and beautiful landing. I will be thinking about it for awhile.
Märchen by tiamatv (Mature, 93k)
Fairy tale princess Dean Winchester. That's the delightful headline for this really fun and inventive fic. Dean of Winchester is the eldest prince but he lacks magic, making his brother the heir. What else do you do with a spare but promise to marry him off for political reasons, in this case to Michael, an Angel from a neighboring kingdom who lent his swords to Winchester to defeat the demons.
But Dean isn't gonna be some kept pretty thing, so he shocks everyone by saying no. Michael won't marry Dean without his consent, but that term is used very loosely, as angels do. So Dean is locked in a tower full of monsters where he is cursed to remain until he consents or finds his true love.
It's a tale as old as time (yes I said that), but there are some delightfully fresh elements. From Charlie the dragon princess (marry me, Charlie) to a sentient carnivorous hedge, the quirky characters make this fic impossible to put down. There are also some delightful genre choices such as an omnipotent narrator that make this fic feel comforting yet fresh.
In the end, you will be rooting for the angel knight and his prince to slay their inner demons.
A Crash Course in Computer Safety by followthattardis @debatchery (Explicit, 29k)
I love a good fusion and as a fan of the show Chuck, this Chuck Destiel AU absolutely slaps. If you are unfamiliar with the show, it's still an absolutely fun ride. Dean is stuck working at a Best Buy rip off as essentially a member of the Geek Squad. His life is in shambles after his best friend got him expelled from Stanford and stole his girlfriend, but he's making due.
That is until a mysterious email from his ex best friend throws him into a world of intrigue. Suddenly he's got the CIA and the NSA breathing down his neck. Even worse, he has to pretend to be dating the scorching hot CIA operative as a cover.
The Destiel feels are surprisingly potent for a mash-up, and the story is paced so well you won't want to put it down. Bonus points for perfect use of Henriksen.
Buckle up and cue up Short Skirt-Long Jacket by Cake.
The Shadow in the Corner by MalMuses @malmuses (Explicit, 47k)
I don't know that there are many fic writers who excel so thoroughly at classic romance as MalMuses. Her fics bring such a fantastic mix of horny, humor and softness. This one is no exception.
A Victorian steampunk story, this one is set in an alternative timeline where magic is known and the MOL openly fight monsters. Dean aka the Red Hand is tasked with a special investigation - to solve why a monster seems to be targeting the head of the agency's little brother, Castiel.
There's a good bit if mystery and intrigue, but the the headline for me was the delightful way Dean and Cas were both very aware of this instant connection and slowly orbiting each other as gravity pulled them closer. There's a softness to their relationship and it's largely external angst that keeps them apart as long as they are, but you never doubt that they are entirely gone for one another. Yes they suffer from perpetual horniness around each other, but its also very clear they genuinely like each other in a way that melted my cold dead heart.
In the end, a fun read with an exceptionally satisfying ending.
4:08 to Tombstone by Zuzeca (Explicit, 20k)
Cas is a Seraph with a mission: to save Dean Winchester, to retrieve the Michael Sword from Hell. But Dean perceives Hell not as it is, but instead as the wild west. Thrown into a bisexual cowboy fantasy, Cas has to navigate a dangerous escape while protecting this beautiful soul from those who would destroy it.
This fic is an absolute treasure. Amazing trueform angel descriptions, some gorgeous treatment of Dean’s Hell trauma, and a poignant bond between Dean and Cas that makes it a really sweet read (though mind the tags it gets dark). Its a really fun and novel take on the escape from Hell.
All That Remains by DoctorProfessorSong (Mature, 16k)
I am going to be annoying and self-rec here but I just released a fic I am super proud of. It's bittersweet and emotional and I poured my grief and parts of my soul into it. The tags are daunting but I do think it ends in a satisfying and hopeful place.
The stabfest story examines a canon divergent world where Dean is turned into a demon by the MOC, and Cas is forced to kill him to free him. He has a plan to save Dean, but it fails and Dean makes a deal with the Shadow to escape the Empty. The same deal as Cas. What follows is a reinterpretation of canon where both of them are unable to speak the truth because they risk losing it all.
It's a story about love and loss and hope. And perhaps most importantly it's a story about faith, not as some cheap fix-all, but as something that you hold in your heart in the darkest places.
Tag list below the cut. Let me know if you want to be tagged in future lists.

REVIEWS OF THE WEEK!
Every week I will post various reviews I've written so far in 2024. You can check out my Goodreads for more up-to-date reviews HERE. You can friend me on Goodreads here.
Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts?
___
281. Next to You by Hannah Bonam-Young--⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tumblr media
I wanted to love this, BUT I'm sure I'll really enjoy book 1 and 3! I did like the love interest, he was a darn sweetheart.
I think what I didn't really care for in this book (and why my rating wasn't as high as I would have liked) was that I couldn't really connect with the MC and her decisions. But a three star isn't a bad rating, it is a "I enjoyed this but it could have gone better for me".
I really liked the mental health rep and how detrimental it can be when it has you in its grip. I think that was one of the things I loved most about this book. I liked that Bonam-Young didn't shy away from this aspect of the MC's life.
But the story itself, while having some very fun and cute moments, felt like it lacked something that would have fully grabbed me. I don't know if the pacing was off, or if the relationship felt a little too surface level--something about it held me back from fully loving it. I don't know if it was that the bus was fixed a little too much behind the scenes or too quickly, or that there was a third act break up.
The love interest was really sweet and I really liked him. I kind of wish we'd had a dual POV story, just to both make things feel more rounded and to get more bus-fixing scenes.
I am definitely going to pick up the other two books because I'm excited by their descriptions. I will say that I'm happy that I read this one first because it's only up from here!
___
282. The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm not a novel-in-verse girly, but I loved the hell out of this audiobook. This book was beautiful. Such a wonderful exploration of a young person learning who he is and who he wants to be.
I highly recommend listening to this as an audiobook because it flowed so well and was just a great experience!
Dean Atta has created a great character with a strong personality and relatability for readers of all ages, especially teens trying to figure out who they are. I connected with the MC over his mixed-raced upbringing and how society might view that part of him. We get to see him experiencing these moments of racism and identity-confusion.
I loved that Atta touched on the confusing feelings teenagers might experience when they are discovering who they are and how even though you're certain of one thing, your mind will always ask you to consider other ideas (like him knowing he is gay, but still contemplating potential romantic feelings for his female best friend.)
Another surprising aspect of this book that I was really enjoying was how the book spans over several years of the MC's life. We get to see him be completely confused about who he is until the last page where he is fully sure and finding that confidence he had always wanted when he was younger.
Overall, I highly recommend this. And if you're not a novel in verse person like me, listen to the audiobook! It's worth it!
___
283. The Girl in Question by Tess Sharpe--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn't even know this existed until last month. LOVED. Such a great sequel/finale!
When I saw that THE GIRL IN QUESTION was a sequel to a book I loved last year (or the year before?), I KNEW I wanted to read it. And from the very beginning, I was hooked--even if it took me a second to remember who each character was.
One of the things I immediately liked about this one was the setting. I don't know how many times I've mentioned it in past reviews, but I LOVE survival stories and Sharpe's newest novel is set in the woods! Immediately got me. And then from there, it was twist after twist. The characters were badasses in their attempts to survive and it was constant action. There were no slow moments.
I also liked that the story jumped from perspective to perspective because it made the novel feel more cinematic and rounded. It felt like I could see the whole thing taking form in my head. It especially helped when we started to get more background information about the one MC's past.
The ending was great and was a nice way of ending the story. I will be surprised if there is another one in this series, but I won't be angry with it.
If you love a good YA queer suspense novel, then I really think you should add the first book, THE GIRLS I'VE BEEN, to your TBR!
___
284. Swift & Saddled by Lyla Sage--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lyla Sage's series is just such a sweet and pure fun time. I like that the series feels like a low-drama, low-stakes type of romance series and I'm 100% here for it.
SWIFT AND SADDLED was no exception to the cute romance factor that I'm really enjoying from this author. We get some fun chemistry between the two MCs and the build up of sexual tension. Loved the idea that she was the perfect fit for him, even though she just stopped by the town for her new job.
The MMC was a sweetheart who is used to putting everyone first, so it was nice seeing him get some character growth throughout the story.
One of the things I really enjoyed about this one too was that the characters had to work for their relationship. It might have been an insta-attraction story, but it took a bit before they both official fell for each other. We got to know them and the way they are together before anything truly sexual happened. Yes, the tension was there but I liked the boundaries set.
If you're looking for a romance that is just an easy and quick read, you might love this one. It's the kind of romance that will make you feel giddy and will keep you hoping that these two characters give in to their mutual attraction.
___
285. The Titan's Bride Vol. 4 by ITKZ--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh, loving the reveal of the major storyline that has been hinted since volume 1! I feel like the next volume is going to be more action filled!
There was some mystery in this and of course, some spicy times. But I like that we're getting more insight into the MC and his love interests' relationship and connection. I'm excited to see what comes next as the mystery unfolds because this volume left me on a cliffhanger.
___
286. Earthlings by Sayaka Murata--⭐️⭐️⭐️
What the hell did I just read?
I feel like this book was an interesting and deeply disturbing take on trauma and how it can cause some serious damage. While EARTHLINGS took things to an explosive conclusion, I think it's important to keep note on the traumatic experiences that acted as the base for the destruction of the MC's mental health.
This book is very much not for everyone. Hell, I kind of wish I hadn't read it. Massive trigger warning for readers who can't do books with SA, especially when the survivor is a child and the assault is descriptive. I remember having to pause the audiobook because it was so disturbing and horrific--more than the final acts of the book.
But it wasn't just the traumatic SA of the MC as a child, but it was the verbal and physical abuse from the family, the gaslighting from the sister, the trauma bonding with the cousin that led to an inappropriate relationship, and then the control that was put over the MC even as she gets older.
There is a moment in this book where the MC loses the taste of food in her mouth due to her abuse and the way she gains that sense of taste back was, admittedly, chef's kiss. It was in moments like that where I saw the author's genius. But the rest of the book was a study in "How much can be written to showcase how horrible this MC's childhood was?"
I want to read more by Murata and I probably will, but man, what a hell of a book to start with. EARTHLINGS is a study in trauma and holy hell is it traumatic. Please be incredibly wary before you start reading! Don't go in blind like I did, especially if you have triggers you try to avoid.
___
287. Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This felt like PRINCESS DIARIES if there was an abundance of swearing and sex positivity.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but it wasn't a sassy teen girl who spoke her mind in such a refreshingly honest way. I wish I had read this as a teenager because I think I would have related a lot to this MC.
McCafferty touched on a lot of the things that teen girls might experience--like friends who might not really be friends, feeling left out even though you're still in the crowd, crushes, feeling the pressure from expectations from those around you (especially parental), having people assume they know who you are, and finally starting to accept yourself and who you are.
I was so surprised by the swearing and laughed my butt off at various points. I was so entertained by this book and how it didn't sugarcoat any of the realities of teenhood. This was a lot of fun and while I don't know if I'll be reading the rest of the series, I recommend SLOPPY FIRSTS (especially if you're a fan of the teenhood-ness of PRINCESS DIARIES)!
___
288. Business Casual by B.K. Borison--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
A story without miscommunication and the dreaded third act break up? YES. I was so happy by the time I finished this one! Best one in the series, 100%!
One of my issues that I've had with this series in the past was how the couples ALWAYS had a third act break up, usually led by the miscommunication trope. Every time I picked up one of the earlier books in this series, I did so warily because I knew there would be that break up trope waiting for me. So, of course, I went into BUSINESS CASUAL with that wariness but I was so surprised and I'm so happy that I actually gave this book a shot.
BUSINESS CASUAL was the kind of romance I've been wanting from this series. The couple have great communication, great character growth, a romance that builds up over time, and hilarious moments that had me giggling.
I liked that beyond the romance, there were also complex relationships that the FMC and the MMC had to navigate throughout the book. They each had their own internal battles and I liked that they tackled them alongside their growing romance. The expectations of being a younger sibling and the stresses of being the son of a man who is constantly belittling who you are as a person.
This was just such a breath of fresh air and I enjoyed the heck out of it. I wish I could live in a small town like this one!
___
Happy reading!

Desolate
There is no heterosexual explanation for the many stolen glances between Dean and Cas over the course of 11 seasons, so this piece is me dipping my toes into Destiel territory. This is a season 15 fix-it. This is angsty with mentions of death and mourning. I'm thinking of having this be the set-up for an actual story but I want to see if people are interested!
Pairing: Dean x Cas
TW: death, loss, violence (Dean punches Sammy), grief
If you would like me to continue this please let me know in the comments!!
It happened 7 days after they’d defeated Chuck and Jack was assimilating into his new role. God. Capital G-O-D. His surrogate son was God and even though Dean knew that Jack would make a better god than Chuck ever had, he’d miss him. It seemed like that’s all he was going to be doing for the rest of his life, missing Jack.
Missing Cas.
He fucking hates himself for not saying it back. It would have been so easy; it’s been weighing heavy on his heart for years. I love you too. But what he’d said instead was “Don’t do this, Cas” and he will never be able to forgive himself. The first time he’d almost told Cas he loved him had been years ago, at the crypt, when Naomi was controlling Cas and he’d nearly killed Dean. Beaten, bloodied and on his knees, he’d almost said it. I love you, Cas. But instead, he said “I need you, Cas.” Both were true but Cas didn’t truly understand just how much Dean needed him. He can’t blame anyone but himself, honestly, because how in the hell would Cas know he loved him? He buried his feeling under cheap booze and women, and he always made it clear that he wasn’t gay. Which, truly, Dean didn’t think of himself as gay; sure, he thought some men were attractive, but he’d never had the desire to be with a man the way he did with Cas, he didn’t gravitate around them and let himself be consumed by their orbit. Cas had been it; he was the one that made Dean feel like maybe love didn’t have a gender or an expiration date, but he was too fucking stubborn to let himself have it. He was too scared to love and to be loved. And now it’s too late. He’s alone. Cas is dead.
Sam knew but he didn’t, tried to help you he couldn’t. Sam saw the bags under his eyes and the number of empty, scattered bottles in Dean’s room was excessive, even for him. Sam knew Cas was his best friend and he knew he was mourning him in a way he never had when he died before. His death seemed so final this team that Dean didn’t dare hope that he might be able to come back. Sam tried cheering him up, he really did, hey you want to go for a drive? We can listen to Metallica’s entire discography or hey Meat Man, how about some burgers? had been the last two attempts made by Sammy, one this morning and the other at lunch. Sounds like fun, maybe some other time okay, Sammy? and I’m not hungry, maybe tomorrow? Had been his replies and Sam smiled, nodded, and let him be. So, there he was, wallowing in his bed, when Sam walked in a couple of hours later.
“Hey man, I’m heading out to get some groceries. We’re making burgers tonight.”
Dean was tired, so bone-achingly tired, so he didn’t argue.
“Sounds good, Sammy.”
As Sam was turning to leave Dean called out.
“Don’t forget the beer. Grab 2 packs.”
“No, I’m not grabbing any beer,” Sam said, turning back to look at him.
“Sam, stop, we always drink beer. This is no different.” Dean said sitting up in bed and looking his brother in the eyes.
“This is entirely different, Dean. This situation could not be further from anything we have ever experienced before. You are drinking yourself to death, man. You need to stop.”
“You don’t know what I need, Sam. Go and get the damn groceries and some fucking beer!” Dean yelled and Sam looked hurt, but he wouldn’t budge. Dean got up and walked slowly over to him until he was standing right in front of him.
“Do it or I’ll go myself, Sam.”
“Dean, stop,” Sam pleaded, looking down at him with tears in his eyes, “I know you miss him bu-“ the rest of Sam’s sentence went unfinished as Dean’s right fist connected with Sam’s jaw and he fell backwards out into the hallway.
Dean looks down at his brother and knows he should apologize. Help him get up and apologize, he told himself, but he couldn’t bring himself to do anything except tower over him. The rage felt warranted, and it made him feel alive for a second. Sam got to his feet and stared at his brother; there was no anger in his eyes and that made Dean want to punch him again.
“If punching me makes you feel better, then keep taking swings, Dean,” Sam’s voice didn’t waver, and it held no trace of resentment. Dean was sure Sam would let him beat him bloody if it meant he’d stop drinking and feel anything other than sadness over Cas. Dean considered it, he fucking considered continuing to beat the crap out his brother for no other reason other than he could, Sam told him he could, but there was a deafeningly loud boom and a subsequent clatter coming from the foyer than made them both immediately look down the hallway. Other than the noise, the red lights hadn’t come on and the alarm hadn’t gone off. What the hell was strong enough to break into the bunker without setting any of the warding off? Dean ran into his room, grabbed two guns and knives, and handed a pair to his brother. They walked side by side, eerily quiet, down to the foyer. Sam put a hand on Dean’s chest to stop him just before they turned the corner. Sam pointed to himself then signaled to the foyer in two quick motions. I’ll go first. Dean nodded and mouthed, I’ll cover you. As soon as Sam turned the corner, Dean saw a look of fear written all over his face, but he lowered his weapons anyway. What the hell was Sam looking at? Dean turned the corner behind Sam, gun pointed and knife ready, but the second he laid eyes on him, he felt like all the air had been punched out of his lungs.
“Cas?” Sam whispered and Dean dropped his weapons in a clatter at his feet.
There he was, just as Dean remembered him from a week ago. The only differences were that this Cas wasn’t scared, he wasn’t crying, or making deathbed love declarations. He was standing in front of him and Sam, wearing his trademark trench coat and a slight ever-confused look in his eyes. Dean knew that they should check, throw salt, holy water, silver, and a battery of other tests but what he did instead was shove Sam out of the way and head straight to Cas. Dean threw his arms around Cas’ neck and buried his hands in his hair. He felt Cas hug him back, almost instinctively, but instead of the usual arms around the torso, he placed his hands at Dean’s waist and pulled him closer. They stayed like that for what felt like hours, he could hear Sam sniffling from behind them and it suddenly made him realize he was crying.
“Shh I’m here, Dean, it’s okay. I’m here” he heard Cas whisper in his ear and felt his hands rubbing circles into the small of his back and he wanted nothing more than to stay like this forever.
After a few seconds Dean pulled back slightly, finally looking into Cas’ blues and for a second he thought of all the things hidden in the color – sapphires, the ocean after tempest, the sky after a rainy day, Dean’s favorite toy car that his mom and dad had gifted him on his third birthday and that he still had hidden away in his nightstand – he kept his arms around Cas’ neck but asked the question he knew was also on Sam’s mind.
“How?” he breathed, and Cas smiled. He removed his left hand from Dean’s waist and plunged it into one of the many pockets of his trench coat. He pulled out a small, neatly folded piece of paper. Fighting against the part of his brain urging him to keep holding onto Cas because the universe was cruel and he might disappear if he let go, Dean dropped his arms from Cas’ neck, took the piece of paper, and walked back over to Sam who was looking at him expectantly. Once he was next to him, he held the note in front of them and opened it:
I’m hands off starting now.
- Love, Jack.

supernatural according to (some of) tumblr based on opinions i’ve seen on here:
- they say fuck all the time
- dean is violently homophobic and misogynistic but sam took gender studies at stanford in 2005
- sam taught dean how to read despite being 4 whole years younger because he went to college so he must have been smarter from birth
- there are 0 lesbians. and like one woman but she dies.
- cas is not in fact a powerful soldier but a poor baby abused by the nasty winchesters who only ever use him to get what they want
- jack is a baby who is inherently good but emma is either nonexistent or irredeemable for *checks notes* being alive for less than a week and being brainwashed for all of her very short life
- sam is the only character to have had his autonomy infringed upon and to have experienced sexual based trauma
- dean was abusive to lisa and ben and chose to leave them solely because he missed hunting and needs sam to survive
- dean needs sam to explain both his feelings and his (potentially repressed) sexuality
- jensen ackles personally killed gay cas and had so much creative control that any poor choices made by the writers and/or the studio are solely his fault
- soulless sam didn’t kill anyone innocent and was actually perfectly fine until dean came and forced his soul back in
- dean has never in his life cried or opened up to anyone and has 0 emotional range whatsoever
- dean told jo she shouldn’t hunt because she’s a woman and his opinions had absolutely nothing to do with her impulsivity and lack of experience
- sam has never made a homophobic joke in canon. any gay jokes he made were not really gay jokes because someone who went to college legally can’t be homophobic.
- cas is completely in touch with his emotions and has solely healthy relationships (except for his one with dean because any and all relationships with dean must be inherently toxic)
- nothing the writers did was intentional as they are not capable of forming complex thoughts
- dean has never criticised john ever and sam doesn’t even think of john as his dad so he never says anything positive about him throughout the entire series

festival write-up! Notable artists I saw: Cobrah, Slayyyter, Domiziana, Eartheater, Isabella Lovestoryyyyyyy (and don't u ever forget it!)
Cobrah was insaneee I was in the front row and she is SUCH a performer. we showed up like 15 minutes before her set started and the stage hands were still setting up this ominous prop
Tumblr media
before the concert i thought she might be the type not to talk at all between songs because she seems so otherwordly and alien to me but she did talk and was super cute actually haha tho during her songs she has that dominatrix-esque charisma. mesmerising. (also it was so funny how the photographers absolutely dashed towards her everytime she was popping her pussy lol) the crowd was screaming like crazyyyyy after suck. everyone give it up for cunnilingusssss also she was going crazy on the cross during that one, it didnt even cross my mind to film it because i was sooo sucked in (lol) her performance. amazing, 10/10 (the face the waist the nails the shape etc)
For Domiziana I just knew Ohne Benzin before and sort of listened to her music a bit before we went to her show and I really liked it! she only had a 45 minute set and I did think it was a bit of a shame that she shortened her already short songs in favour of playing a few covers, id rather she play her full songs and not the covers. anyway greatttt energy i liked the songs that i hadnt heard before, ive had malena and auf die party on repeat ever since. she was also super cute when she talked between songs lol before she played amore she talked to a fan who was apparently going offfff in the front row and asked her if she was single and then went "Oh mein Gott Lea ist singleeeeeeee 🤖" and her DJ turned the autotune on halfway thru that was so funny. im afraid im writing this in a boring way haha u had to be there 😌 she was actually walking around the festival the next day i saw her around! (and I also Nura formerly from SXTN once? that was kinda wild. she's way shorter than i thought)
Slayyyter was wall to wall gay men as expected lol. she absolutely has a set of pipes on her, those grand 80s type pop songs off of starfucker suit her sooo well. she was really giving diva, u know when drag queens strike a pose and do that intense stare at the crowd, thats what she was doing. she played remixes of venom and self destruct, they were def more techno than the originals, i wonder if that is fixed in her setlist or she did it bc its technically a techno festival. it was fun to see the contrast between her more melodic poppy stuff and then the super noisy songs like james dean and the aforementioned remixes. the crowd were loving it all. i loved it, shes a great perfomer and a lot of her songs really go offfff live, theres nothing like a crowd yelling "K! COKE! MONEY!" in the call response that is Purrr (one of my fav songs off starfucker!) and she introduced that song by going: "Who here has done any substances toniiiiiiiiiight!!!" to a grand cheer of the audience. amazing truly.
Eartheater was. um. well i think she had the most thankless venue/time slot combination, she was the very first act on the last day on the big stage and there weren't that many people in the beginning, though it filled up as her set went on. i don't really listen to her music, i've just heard a few songs before and someone whose musical taste i trust recommend that i see her show and it was cool musically! her fit was sick as well. she just seemed to be in a bad mood throughout? she told off some guy in the front row who was on his phone (?) during a song and showed him the middlefinger instead of singing, made some annoyed comments that you could hear the bass from another stage a bit, and then for her last song she played like 20 seconds on the guitar (which she had played during the concert before) and then she stopped and complained that it was out of tune blabla we dont have time to tune it and then sang accapella. idk ive never experienced something like that, i thought it was a bit uncomfortable to witness as an audience member tbh
Isabella Lovestory baby! my love my angel my mother. its my second time seeing her, last time was in a tiny club were i bullied myself to first row and didnt really have space to stand and had to lean on the speakers the entire show, good times. this time also front row because i am bordering on being a groupie for her. the guy next to me was filming her on his flip phone i hope u enjoy ur 144p footage of her king <3 anyway she was soooooooo good as expected! she opened with botoxx which was so great to see live, vip was fucking sick as well. and she played an unreleased song called telenovela which sounded great!! im really looking forward to her new album <3 and she possibly played another unreleased one but im not entirely sure? i didnt recognise it but she didnt announce it so idk it might just have been something off her first ep. i think kamixlo was djing? and he opened with love4eva by loona yyxy lol my weeb queen. oh actually for that stage there were like screens in the back (u can see it on the cobrah pic further up) where they projected some like mood images and isabella had some of perfume (the jpop group), tommy february6, and possibly newjeans? at some point. but anywayyyyy i love her so much it was so great to see her live again. oh and i did get a little chin caress at the end when she went down to the audience lol successful groupie moment
Tumblr media
actually Cobrah Domiziana Slayyyter and Isabella Lovestory were all on the same smaller stage and i thought it was a bit of an issue that the lights coming from the back were way brighter than the ones from the front so they were all backlit as hell and u couldnt really see their faces a lot of the time :( but still great performances from all of them
other than that there were quite a few dj sets, i liked schwefelgelb and we checked out horsegiirl who was also cool though a bit too high energy for me at that moment. i liked her original songs that she played! my little white pony and obsessed were both good. and the horse mask really is something else lol. and i wanted to see sega bodega as well but he cancelled short notice bc of an ear infection :( get well soon king 💪

doing @theangiediary's dadfucker friday this or that!
got long, so under a read more!
Role reversal (Dom!Dean) or time travel (In The Beginning)? - although i'm inclined toward dean/mary or dean/mary/john in the time travel episodes, i am obsessed with the idea of dean being unable to hold back from hooking up with john in his 20s. maybe in the impala? this might include some role reversal too, since dean would likely be more experienced with guys (although who knows what john got up to during the war), and i think he'd feel more comfortable taking control with young john.
dubcon: curses or drugs? - i'm really picky about drugged sex, but fuck curses are always so fun. the guilt! the pining! the potential feelings reveal! i LOVE 'wanted it but not like this' stories, and curses are perfect for this trope (and also for johndean) <3
"Sam finds out" or John/Dean/Sam? - i can't help but think "sam finds out" would really fuck up a lot of the relationships and make the whole beginning of the series be pretty different, but the thought of J/D/S is so fun and sexy lmao. i sometimes think about AUs where incest is maybe even normalized in the hunting community so...it's no question that the three of them get up to it.
femchesters au: Mary or Joan(fem!John)? - gotta go with mary, i think she's so hot, and deanna/mary is a fun thought especially bc i think they'd look alike. twincest roleplay anybody? 👀
heaven reunion or Lebanon? - haven't seen the later seasons so we'll have to go heaven reunion!
Gay!John or Only-You!John? - we'll go only-you!john although i tend to lean more toward heteroflexible john? incidental bisexual if you will lol... like, he was military, he def might've gotten it on with some fellow soldiers. i think he might've had some drunk ill-advised sex with somebody who reminded him of dean while pining or when they were separated before the series starts. but at the end of the day i'll go only-you because i just don't see gay john! i think he's pretty straight for the most part, and the dean thing is about him being dean, not a guy.
A/B/O or vampire/monsters au? - i love vampire/monster aus but i'm a total sucker for a/b/o. alpha john...knock that omega up, won't you?
angst or fluff? - for J/D it's gotta be angst. but imagine dean like...trying to do a nice date night for them, cooking dinner and setting up the house all night for john to get home from a hunt to just grab a bottle and pass out on the couch without eating. from fluff into to angst...
physical punishments or emotional manipulation? - i don't see john being too physical. but he's definitely emotionally manipulative. i don't always know if he even means to be all the time, but he definitely has caused dean to self-blame a LOT.

ok so. my review of the first episode of the winchesters is that it's a lot better than i expected. it didn't blow me out of the water and im a little iffy on them rehashing the original premise with mary trying to track her dad down because he knew something and wanted to protect her, but there's enough of a difference that it doesn't bug me too much
the introduction of the akridas, a new monster that's bigger and stronger than all the others could get really messy really fast, and it feels a little bit like the leviathans. it's especially worrying to me considering that this one. is an alien i guess. but im willing to let it play out
all of the characters are pretty likable so far though! lata's role as the brainy one feels very reminiscent of sam but she has the added aspect of being new to hunting. she's still unsure of herself but wants to help and she's really sweet. i think she's my favorite so far. it'll be interesting having two people who aren't very experienced with the supernatural on the team
mary's pretty cool, i like that she seems very confident and sure of herself. i expect? she's going to butt heads with carlos a lot and im excited to see it. get it girlboss kick his ass. speaking of carlos i don't have a lot of thoughts on him yet but given his past with mary he's obviously a pretty flawed character big win for gay wrongs fr im here for it
i was expecting a lot of focus on john and the episode did deliver with that but it was better than i thought it'd be. the whole thing with his guilt from the war and his friend dying becoming his motivation to get into hunting makes sense for him. and that kind of recklessness that comes with running away from home to join the military feels reminiscent of both sam and dean. im holding out on it for now but like. at the very least the writing lines up with john's character in a sad way. he just passed on his savior complex to dean
overall im not sure if id be sold on the show if i didn't already love supernatural but it was ok even as a standalone. you can tell they put effort into the pilot and theyre setting up an overarching plot with it. im having fun tbh and im excited to see where this goes

My Thoughts and Feelings about "Wet Pain" Pt 1
Terence Taylor’s “Wet Pain” was such a powerful read. Originally going into it, I was puzzled by what the term “Wet Pain” could mean in the context of this story, but I was interested in finding out. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the main character Greg was gay because stories about queer Black men are often not told or used as the side character, but in this story, we were getting his perspective. At no point in the story did I ever truly know what was going to happen, and I thoroughly enjoyed not knowing, as it made me read this story on the edge of my seat. I liked how the story followed a devolving friendship because that isn’t a perspective in horror stories that are often shown, which made it an interesting read. At the beginning of the story, I enjoyed reading about Greg and Dean’s friendship, how they interacted with each other and how much love Greg had for Dean and his wife, Lynn. Reading about how they were brothers despite their differences was a notion that I could really relate to, as I have friendships where we come from completely different backgrounds with differing interests, but somehow, our connection transcends that. Reading that Dean was moving back to his family’s home in New Orleans and how he felt about it, I had a bad feeling that something would happen, but I was not expecting how it specifically unfolded. When the story presented Dean slurring his words and drinking at odd hours, I thought that the story was going to highlight the effects of stress and alcoholism, but the story progressed to something bigger. When Greg opened the gift and saw it was a photo of a KKK gathering, I was shocked; I wasn’t sure how to interpret that gesture because it felt almost wrong and like it came from a deep-rooted place of malice, although Greg seemed to appreciate the gift. Reading about how Dean started to be misogynistic to Lynn and racist to Greg had my jaw drop, and my eyes went wide with how blunt and unapologetic he was being about it. I felt empathy for Greg as I had been in that position before. Being on the receiving end of someone’s awful and hurtful rant from someone you considered a friend hit close to home. Seeing how Dean transformed from being supposedly such a progressive and kind man to a racist, misogynistic, and homophobic man who, in this story, was possessed by his racist ancestors known as “Legion” felt almost too real, and that is what this story does effectively, using science fiction and the unreal to depict an all too real experience. This story unfolding with the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina and its imminent impact on New Orleans added another suspenseful and alarming layer. Greg was desperate to get through to Dean to ensure his best friend was safe; even if he hated how Dean acted, he cared about his safety and the safety of Lynn and the kids. The notion of wanting someone to be safe despite no longer associating with them is a very relatable feeling and one that I’ve experienced before, which I believe this story did a wonderful job of depicting.

This is so random, but I’ve always been curious about this. Do you prefer Jensen and Jared to be gay or bi? I’ve noticed most fanfic writers for J-squared (and you in your fics) tend to prefer to make them gay. In Supernatural fics, I think their more often bi? Or at least maybe it’s just the ones I’m reading. Do you have a preference for one over the other and why? I’m bi myself, so I have a preference for bi characters, but there are exceptions. I love Jared in Underneath being gay. The crime world is really homophobic, and him having to navigate that and still command respect and say fuck you to stereotypes is beautiful. Him being gay and unwilling to hide that part of his really adds something nice to his character. So yeah, I was just curious to hear your thoughts!
This is a really interesting question and I had to think about that. I have… several thoughts about it. Because it made me wonder, as someone who considers herself queer (I haven’t found a more specific label yet I like and I’m not sure whether I want one for myself, but I am definitely neither straight nor lesbian, so more closer to bi than anything I think, and yeah, it made me wonder: why do I not write more bi characters?
I think in parts it’s the J2 tradition. You’re right, there are way more fics with the Js being gay than bi. Part of it may be due to biphobia or even just a lack of understanding anything that’s not gay or straight? It is still a thing and it was much more so seventeen to ten years ago, which were the formative years of the J2 fandom. (Never underestimate how much society and the acceptance of the full spectrum of queer people has changed in the last twenty years and just how old the spn fandom is.) In some of the older J2 fics especially where one of them has relationships with women before, the fic then talks about them as gay even though they theoretically still enjoy sex with women and are probably not entirely gay. I wonder how much that relates to biphobia or a general lack of representation of bi men. (In spn canon Dean and Sam have so many canon relationships with women, I think you have to make them bi or pan or Sam-sexual/Dean-sexual or something not straight to make it as close to canon as possible. I certainly write my Sam and Dean as somewhere in the bisexual region or straight with the exception of their brother, but then I don't think I've ever dealt with the specifics of their sexualities in my fics.)
The other thing is more personal for me. As someone who started out thinking she was straight in her teens and then had the whole wait what am I actually thing in her twenties, I think it was just easier to write characters who just know. And obviously I could write bi characters who just know that they’re bi, but I think for me, being bi always seemed much more complicated? Which, apart from my own experience, doesn’t have to be like that at all of course, but again, there is a lack of representation and the bi character rep I’ve experienced is often people struggling with it and figuring it out late. And so I think, for me personally, it just seemed easier. I don’t know, honestly, why I didn’t write the whole wishful thinking bi character who is just bi thing, but maybe that’s due to the whole I don’t want to write about me and my life directly, I want to transform/stay away from my issues as much as possible before I write cathartic fic.
Writing this feels actually really sad because bi rep is so important (see above!). Will this make me write more bi characters in the future? Hopefully. (I’ve dipped my toe into Red, White and Royal Blue and honestly having a character struggle to figure out their bisexuality was really nice—though Alex is really exceptionally obtuse, but then, everybody needs to get there at their own pace.)
Thanks for the question, nonnie. I’d love to hear what other people think about it, but these are my two cents on the matter.

i half agree with you here, i’m thinking that the changes within stede and ed (even though i think that this ending will really only benefit ed in the long run) are supposed to be represented in the ending opposed to scrapped, making a compromise between “running away together to china” like ed wants at the end of season 1 and stede’s dream of becoming notorious and experiencing new things.
and with izzy’s death, rough as it is to see a character that has come so far and been through so much taken down by a stray bullet, i do think it was somewhat of a fitting end for him. yes, it would’ve been more satisfying to see him pirating the revenge in stede and ed’s stead or something opposed to him getting killed off by a character who barely got the time to become a real villain; but he got to die at sea, surrounded by people who actually accepted him and watched him become a better man throughout season 2. i think it was supposed to feel bittersweet intentionally, opposed to “killing your gays” before their time.
it does feel like dean winchester again, but maybe a little better thought out and with actual literary significance lmao.
tl:dr izzy definitely deserved better (as fitting an end it was for him) and ed/stede are gonna run a bangin ass inn together (until inevitable problems arise in compromise). hoping for a season 3.
i am so sick of characters getting killed off as soon as they have a chance at a good and content life. and especially when they die in ways that don’t suit their character. like izzy got shot in the leg, had it rotting off, and had it amputated, and you’re telling me a gun shot kills him??? he had such good development this season. he found his family, his crew, just to get killed in the end?? he deserved to be on the new crew, as much as everyone else. or to have a non-pirate life like stede and ed. either way he deserved to live and i will die on this hill.
it’s like reliving dean winchester again.

@fruitloopsforlife was curious about my own votes for this, so I guess I'd say that Gilbert would be most likely to be a virgin, for me. I don't think he went that far with anyone before Anne because of his devotion to her and his college drive to succeed (no time for anything else), though going by the smutty letters he and Anne exchanged, certain things were probably in their thoughts (and I haven't headcanoned what they did when they were together!)
Maybe Jingle second, though I don't remember enough of his character.
Teddy might be third--I know everyone thinks he's a lady-killer, but tbh I think he would be more the type to attract people from being Artistic and Mysterious and then lead them on to a degree (as we know from Ilse) but I don't think he would ever be serious enough to bring it to the bedroom. I think if he were actively doing things that might ruin his image or another girl's life, Ilse would have had strong things to tell him to keep him awake at 3am, rather than just wishing she could.
Barney Snaith gets an extra ten years on the others before he ends up with his true love, so I'm more skeptical. His being in the Yukon makes me suspect--from a lifetime of watching Westerns--that he might have paid for sex/companionship (listen, I also think he'd have to have learned some skills to please Valancy/avoid pregnancy by the time they married! And he wouldn't have gotten them from Ethel.)
Last but not least, I'm FULLY convinced Perry had numerous affairs before clinching the deal with Ilse. Do I have any textual basis for this? Not really, except for his conclusion that he "should have behaved like Teddy, blowing hot and cold" to Emily. After deciding that he'd need to be a rake to get a girl, I think he'd have tried it out. Also his appearing naked in front of Miss Brownell and only in his overalls before Emily--idk, to me, there's something about his personality that would accept sex/nudity as just a fact of life, he wouldn't overthink it and pursue it where he found it.
As for Dean, I honestly don't know because on the one hand--the opportunities of age and travel. On the other hand, he's so convinced of his own ugliness and deformity (or so he conveys to Emily), I feel like if he did have any sexual experience, it probably was brief and ended badly. If I am going to headcanon, I'd say he tried to mess around with a girl in school, disliked it, put his repressed energies onto loving Douglas but wasn't gay enough to actually act on it (ntm knowing Douglas wasn't gay either) and thus ended up with this pent-up situation of attraction toward Emily. Not a virgin, but hardly that experienced either.
Was discussing this with @alwayschasingrainbows and now I’m curious about what you all think

My Five Top Dracula Comedies.
Tumblr media
In 1897, Bram stoker wrote a novel about a Vampiric count who comes to England in search of fresh victims. The book revolutionized horror, and has been filmed several times. Some of the takes on the character have been comedies, and of those, I thought it might be fun to include the five I’ve enjoyed the most. I could have included Grandpa from the Munsters here, but the Munsters is deserving of it’s own blog, and I’ll cover them in the future. So with Halloween here, I thought I’d start with my favorite of them.
Tumblr media
1. Love at First Bite (1979)
After “Young Frankenstein”, my favorite horror Comedy. In this comedy, George Hamilton plays a sympathetic Count Dracula, who is forced to come to America, when the Communist party, decides to turn his castle into a training camp for gymnasts. The film is perfectly cast. Artie Johnson is in top form as Renfield, and Richard Benjaman has never been better as Dr. Rosenberg-well it was Van Helsing, but the character said he changed his name for “professional reasons”. Susan St. James is funny as Dracula’s love interest Cindy Sondheim, a woman who is trying to accept being a liberated woman, but deep down wants an old fashioned love. This film is very funny, but also very politically incorrect. Like Blazing Saddles, this is the kind of film that could not be made today. Blacks, Puerto Ricans, Jewish people, and gays, are all poked fun of. We can’t have that today! Reeeeeee!
Tumblr media
2. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
One of the best horror comedies ever made, this would mark a turning point for the Universal Horror films, when they went from serious to comedy, and then back again with sci-fy and the Creature of the black Lagoon series. With so many having experienced the actual horrors of war, the idea of the mad scientist creating havoc in his crumbling castle, was becoming quaint in comparison. Dr. Frankenstein had noting on Dr. Mengele.
A big reason this film works, is the monsters are allowed to be played seriously, and the comedy is largely left to the comics. We also have the return of Bela Lugosi as Dracula, which he still was in top form. He plays the count with gleeful evil, and it was good to have at last one more chance to see him as the Count.
Tumblr media
3. Dracula Dead and Loving It (1995)
I have come to love this film, but when I originally saw it. I was expecting a Dracula comedy as funny as Young Frankenstein, or Love at first Bite. It was seeing it later on, and no longer expecting it to be as funny as Young Frankenstein, that I began to enjoy it as the comedy it was.
There is honestly a lot to love about this movie. It was deliberately filmed to look like the old sound stage bound horror films, everyone is putting on an exaggerated  British hack-cent, except Leslie Nielsen, who is giving us his best Transylvania hack-cent. The sets look pretty good. Unlike Keannu reeves who struggled like an actor in a high school stage play portraying Jonathan Harker in Coppola’s “Dracula”, Stephen Webber looks like he’s having a fun time playing that same character.  Peter MacNicol is hysterical as Renfield, While Harvey Korman bases his portrayal of Dr. Seward, who runs the sanitarium next to the ruined Carfax Abbey that Dracula purchased, on Nigel Bruce. This parody pretty much follows the famous Hamilton Deane stage play, that Lugosi’s version was based on, with nods to Coppola and Hammer tossed in.
Tumblr media
4. Vampira (Old Dracula) 1974
This was a film I saw as a teenager, during it’s initial released, at the Eagle Rock Mall. I was a fan of David Niven, so I enjoyed it. David Niven is in fine form playing a sinister predatory vampire, who has found renting out his castle for tours, and “borrowing” blood from guests, has allowed him to enjoy a quiet life of no longer having to hunt for his food, and helps pay to maintain his castle, His only need at this point is to resurrect hi love, who has been in slumber for half a century. As Dracula, David Niven plays the part with his usual wit and elegance. Teresa Graves, plays the title role of Vampira, his mate that becomes black because of a blood transfusion, is also attractive and is a lot of fun in this film. I find the film is an entertaining 1970s British Horror film, but a lot of people find it disappointing, and some out right hate the film.
Part of this probably has to do with the marketing of the film in the States. Because of the popularity of “Young Frankenstein” some marketing genius thought it was a good idea to rename it “Old Dracula”. The half sheet poster I own even claims. “If you liked ‘Young Frankenstein’ you’ll love Old Dracula”. The two comedies represent different kinds of comedy films. If you liked Young Frankenstein, there’s a likelihood you wouldn’t like this film at all, and unlike Young Frankenstein, this film has gotten some hatred. But since I went into the film, to see a David Niven comedy, I wasn’t disappointed, and enjoyed my recent re-watch of this film.
Tumblr media
5. Hotel Transylvania (2012)
It’s hard to believe that I would enjoy any film by Adam Sandler, but I found myself enjoying this film, and it’s sequels. It probably has to do with Sandler playing a very sympathetic Dracula, who wants to raise his daughter without putting her at risk from the humans who destroyed his home, and killed his wife, so I could genuinely enjoy the film. Adam Sandler brings along several of his friends (David Spade, Steve Buscemi  Kevin James) to play the monsters, while Selena Gomez is good playing Dracula’s daughter “Mavis”. The film being direction by  Genndy Tartakovsky, made it a very watchable film.
