you and me and gatecreeper buddy! very good stuff. new chief keef is also very good. and this spring i finally "got" caligula's horse after spending months being like "my god can r/progmetal talk about literally one other band..."

May 2024 - favorite new releases are definitely Valerie by Tei Shi (top tier pop music), Drowning to Escape the Fire by Your Ghost In Glass (deeply nostalgic Senses Fail worship), Dark Superstition by Gatecreeper (death metal that is very melodic. But not technically melodic death metal), T.O.tality by Take Offense (crossover thrash, same spiritual vein as Sacred Reich), Cure by ERRA (progressive metalcore I'm really late to the party for but deeply enjoying after seeing them live) and Beating the Drums of Ancestral Force by Tzompantli (extremely sick Mexica death doom band)

Old faves: got really into the first Sumerlands album again and also Polar Bear Club. Recently released Coheed tracks got me back on Year of the Black Rainbow. Lots of Saosin also bc I went to a Saosin show last night

You know the age old saying “come to Brazil”? Well today we bring Brazil to your ears! We are happy to bring you Darkat Yuuyamihn and their brand new album “eu sou a vitima e o carrasco”. This album is a bit of a doozy in a very, very good way. It takes us all over the place musically and even emotionally. Driving us from a contemplative place to feelings of anxiety and dread. Surrounding all these different emotions is quite different layers of musical influences ranging from post-black metal to post-hardcore. Darkat Yuuyamihn manage to combine the likes of V.C.H style shoegaze mixed with Spectral Lore type of black metal with an Ancst after taste. The crazy part? That’s really the tip of the iceberg going on in eu sou a vitima e o carrasco. This album is truly for those who like a variety in their albums.

Ever met an artist / a band you liked and that killed your love for them?

Ever met an artist / a band you liked and that killed your love for them? I play in bands since almost 20 years. Nothing big ever came out of it. But I had the opportunity to play with some bands I really liked. Some are very cool people in person (for example the band ANCST from Berlin - they were super funny, played a great show and it was just a fun experience).But I also was thrilled to play with DOWNFALL OF GAIA once and except from their driver buddy they were not very talkative. They acted a bit like it was not really good enough to play in our little club. So after the show I kinda lost interest in them, though they played good.At another show we had the opportunity to play as opener for the band ULTHA from Cologne. They made a really diva like appearance while working with the sound guy. We know him pretty well and were cool with everything he asked us to do, because all the shows he was working for sounded amazing. But the guys from ULTHA said everything was wrong he wanted them to do. They knew everything better. Our sound guy had no interest in arguing with them and said "ok, do what you think is best". We and the second opener band sounded massive, ULTHA sounded pretty washed out and thin - though our friend tried his best.Backstage they acted pretty arrogant. Did not want to talk with anybody outside the band and so on. I have never ever listened to their music again.Any similar experiences?
