I wrote something in Spanish but I will translate it to English so:
-They're rich of the puckett, we're poor of the materia but never of the grades.
I think my anallogy just works in Spanish, it is why I translate it, the English ppl tell me what you understand when u read the sentence (remember that I tried to do an anallogy)

does anyone else notice that Coran mentions animals a lot? like he uses them for anallogies quite often, and he seems very knowledgeable on them. like he made an entire informational video about the space worm thing (the name escapes me right now). I think besides being a diplomat/royal advisor/Allura's care taker, he has an interest in zoology, or the Altean equivalent. like idk where to go with this, I just think it's neat.
So apparently The Matrix might be a trans anallogy
I heard that somewhere and did a few research, and yeah there's a whole level of reading the movie as a metaphor for transgender people. Now the easiest interpretation of the movie is, in my opinion, a conflict between the individual and society, especially what it wants from them. Well if we consider the act of unplugging as embracing your gender, a few other points seem to fit: When Smith interrogates Neo in the begining, he says "you seem to have Bern living two lives", quoting Mr.Anderson and Neo. Now keep in mind that in the 90s, most trans people might be stuck doing just that, pretending to be thier birth-assigned gender in public and living as themselves elsewhere. Also, Smith never calls Neo "Neo". He keeps calling him "Mr.Anderson", his old name. Calling a trans person by thier old name is a commun form of disrespect to them. Which leads us to Morpheus: when he makes his speech to neo before offering the two pills, he said something of the lines "you've felt something were wrong your entire life, like things aren't what they should". Not being able to be what you are must certainely feel that way, right? Also, right after Neo's unplugged, there's a long scene showing him in healing, due to his body not being used to do anything. If unplugging is changing gender, that scene could represent sex-change surgery or hormone replacement therapy. Given that this is a procedure that gets him from "body fit for the matrix" to "body fit for him", that wouldn't be too far-fetched, right? Another point I've read (written by a trans woman) is about that scene where Neo reflects on his past memories, on how these are just fake. The writer connected that to when she was pretending to be a boy in her childhood, when she was just mimicating other boys, never doing it as an expression of herself. To her, these memories are basically fake now, they're no longer representative of what you are. I skimmed through most of the article, but I find that interesting. Any thoughts or points I missed?
