It's a #Nashville #freakindeaconfriday and I want to talk about...the @bluebirdcafetn Possibly my favorite Deacon song to date is "Back Home" (written by #leebrice #joywilliams ) that he sang in #nashvilleabc pilot episode. Deacon sat in a #bluebirdcafe music round and sang a beautiful (sad) ballad that made me, like the lyrics of the song, to close my eyes and see Tennessee on a summer night although at that point I had never been to Tennessee... Almost everyone were there: Gunnar on the soundboard, Scarlett waitressing, Avery came to mingle and Juliette sat in the audience crying from emotion while listening to this song. I hate to use the word "magical" but there was something magical about that moment and also something sacred. When I finally got to the real bluebird I understood what they were talking about (and how authentic the show really is). Ever since the show came out and since #nashvilletn become the "IT" city (for many reasons) it's hard to get into #thebluebirdcafe. Getting tickets is like an extreme sports and many of the people that make the effort are indeed tourists that saw the show or read somewhere it's a must-see sight. But when they enter, all of it doesn't matter. For musicians it's the same- when they enter it doesn't matter if they're the biggest stars in country music or they just wrote their first song. What matters is the music and EVERYBODY got to the earn its respect. To be there is a humbling experience and that's maybe musicians love playing there so much and create "magic" in there- because it's not about them and their egos but about the music and supporting other musicians. That scene at the pilot was the essence of the bluebird and like in real life...the circle won. The pic below is ascreencap from the pilot and the one above is from last week when it wasn't Deacon, but @charles_esten that was playing.
