SPN Season 14 Recs
Season 14, the season that had so much potential. As I am in an SPN mood, I'm going to recommend some season 14 fics that I love! Links are in the titles of the fics. Fics are from both Ao3 and FF.
I also added my fics because while I do have a masterlist in my pinned post if anyone is looking for a specific season, they can look here.
More fics may be added later on.

Not All Good News by trevelies
Summary:
"Michael is caged inside Dean's mind for now. But there's grace leaking from the cracks, banging on the doors, and Dean knows what happens at the end of this story. Not all the danger is locked inside a bar's walk-in freezer, though - and the Winchesters need to watch out for old and new enemies around every corner.
And at the end of it all, Dean needs to decide how far he'll go to get rid of Michael once and for all."
Gonna Leave a Scar by trevelies
Summary:
"Michael repossesses Dean in Kansas City, and Team Free Will 2.0 isn't exactly on board. It doesn't matter that their only weapon and chance at defeating Michael is currently broken into pieces - family never gets left behind. And that goes double for Winchesters. Sam does a deep dive into Dean's head because he's not letting Dean disappear on his watch, even if it means facing an Archangel on his own turf."
All On You by trevelies
Summary:
"The Spear" speculation. Dean's vision is swimming - literally. But Team Free Will 2.0 has much bigger problems. The angels have finally located Michael, and the Winchesters have Kaia's Spear, an angel and a half, and about three weeks of bad memories to take out on Michael's feathery ass."

"Sleep. I'll keep you safe." - Anael Prompt Response
Summary: Anael is not happy that you've agreed to help the Winchesters with their far-fetched plan to destroy Chuck via Jack. She reluctantly accompanies you to the Bunker and this sets events in motion that prompt a conversation between you and Dean on just why the angel is so important to you.
Pairing: Anael x Female!Reader; Anael x Huntress!Female!Reader; past-ish Dean Winchester x Female!Reader; Dean Winchester x Huntress!Female!Reader
A/N: Prompt from @thelonelyempath. I really wanted to play with this sort of triangle dynamic that popped up while I was writing. This is still an Anael x Reader one shot/prompt response but Dean's my boy and I really loved the backstory that developed between him and the reader which then led to Anael. Hope it all came together okay.
Unbeta'd so all mistakes are mine.
There will be a note at the end.
Warnings: guns; implied threats of violence/killing; mentions of sex; torture; death; angst

You glanced to your right and rolled your eyes when you saw the angel who was currently sitting in your passenger seat, still fuming. You turned back to the road and gently tapped the steering wheel, wondering what you could say to get her to let this go. In the end, you decided to just be direct.
âAre you still upset about this?â
âAre you still going through with this ridiculous plan?â She snapped.
You bit your lip to keep from sighing in aggravation like you wanted to. You knew if she heard you do that, sheâd never let up. âItâs not a bad planâŚâ
âOh, yeah. Not a bad plan. Just have Godâs sister trap him in the Winchestersâ basement. Iâm sure heâll be more than happy to wait for the weapon that will kill him to arrive.â
You nearly winced at her biting sarcasm. She had a point; this wasnât the best plan and it was definitely a long shot but it was all any of you had. Sam and Dean had asked for your help and you were determined to give it to them, no matter what might happen. They always had your back when you needed it. You were going to return the favor â pissed off angel alongside you or not. Not to mention if this didnât succeed then the world was literally going to be over. You all had to try.
âLook, itâs not exactly the mostâŚsound plan but itâs the best weâve got. We have to do something, Ana. If we donât, then itâs lights out. Thatâs it.â
âWe,â she scoffed, turning to glare out the window with her arms crossed.Â
You tightened your grip on the steering wheel at the same time your jaw clenched. âDonât do that.â
She turned back to you. âAre you really going to pretend that he doesnât have something to do with this suicidal decision youâve made?â
You kept your eyes focused on the road. âHe does.â After her huff, you added unapologetically, âHe will always matter to me. Even if the world wasnât on the line, I would still be there if he asked me. He would do the same for me. Thatâs how itâs always going to be between us.â
A moment of tense silence passed before she spit at you, âThen youâre dumber than I gave you credit for.â She looked out the window again and you turned up the music, pressing your foot further down on the gas. The sooner you got to your destination the better.
You opened up the bunker door, allowing Ana to walk inside first. She hadnât said another word to you for the rest of the car ride (something unusual for her), and barely even looked at you. You knew she was furious, at everything from this plan to what youâd said earlier, but it couldnât be helped.Â
When you followed her, shutting the door behind you, and both of you came to a stop at the railing, glancing down, you didnât know what you had expected to see. It certainly hadnât been Jack Kline standing in the map room, staring up at you, with a hand raised. âHello.â
You and Ana briefly glanced at each other and you gave the boy a nod. âUh, hey Jack. Sam and Dean here?â
He shook his head. âThey had a last minute case come up. Something about an old friend asking for help, I think.â
âIronic,â Ana quipped.
Jack furrowed his brows at her, not understanding her meaning, while you shot her a look. Of course, she just smirked at you in response and you could feel your body tensing in the same aggravation youâd felt in the car. âIs Cas here?â You asked instead.
Jack went to speak when you heard, âIâm here,â before a familiar dark-haired man walked into the room. It had been a while since youâd seen him but he still looked the same. He was still wearing the trenchcoat and the suit, no matter how many times Dean tried to get him to change up his wardrobe.
âHey, Cas.â
He gave you a nod of greeting before turning a small relieved smile on Ana. âAnael, youâve decided to help us in this fight after all.â
âDonât get too excited, Castiel. Iâm only here because it turns out sheâs just as smart as the Winchesters.â She gestured towards you.
You gritted your teeth. âAnaâŚâ
She gave you that smile she always gave you when she knew she was getting on your last nerve.
Cas glanced back and forth between you, a sudden realization of something beginning to dawn on his features. Jack still looked somewhat confused but also curious.Â
You cleared your throat. âSo, any idea when the boys will be back?â
âSoon. I believe they just wrapped up their case and theyâre headed back. They should be here by nightfall,â Cas supplied.
You gave him a wan smile as he appeared to study you intently. âWell, Iâm starved. Got any food in that big kitchen of yours?â
âWe have a lot of food,â Jack offered, trying to be helpful. âSam went shopping the other day.â
âGreat,â you responded with a little too much enthusiasm. âLetâs see what weâve got.â You ignored Ana watching you in disapproval and Casâ penetrative gaze as you descended the steps and followed Jack to said kitchen. Let Ana deal with whatever thoughts Cas might put voice to â youâd had enough angel judgment for one day.
You and Jack were just putting the finishing touches on shepherdâs pie (the only thing you knew how to make outside of eggs and grilled cheese if you were being honest) when Sam and Dean returned home.Â
You had spent most of the day avoiding Cas and thankfully, when Ana joined you in the kitchen, she chose to relegate any commentary she made to your cooking skills (or lack thereof) alone. There was tension thick in the air but whether it had to do with what was going on in the background, Anaâs animosity towards you, or a mixture of both, you had no idea. Cas had eventually strode into the room, curious and happy to watch you teach Jack how to make the one dish your Grams had taught you to make. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw him smile when Jack asked you why it was called shepherdâs pie if the recipe didnât come from any shepherds. Despite his questions, Jack seemed to be enjoying himself, learning something new and taking his mind off of what was coming. You felt badly for the kid; he was going to sacrifice himself to save the world. You couldnât even imagine the weight of that burden on his young shoulders, Nephilim or not. So you were happy to provide a little distraction for him as well as yourself.
âCas? Jack?â You heard Sam call.
âWeâre back,â Dean added.
Cas was immediately on his feet, looking towards Ana and then you, before hurrying out of the room. You had to wonder what that was all about. It wasnât as if the brothers werenât expecting you. Plus, you were pretty sure Cas must have texted or called them to give them a heads up that you were here.
Ana turned back to you, her jaw tight and giving you a look. You rolled your eyes and helped Jack get out a stack of plates to set the table with. When you were done, you noticed Ana had stood up and moved away from the two of you, creating distance. Your own jaw clenched when you saw it. Why did she have to be so difficult sometimes?
âNo plate for you?â You threw at her, knowing very well she wasnât going to eat since she didnât need to.
âNot just yet.â
Your brow creased in confusion. What was that response?
You didnât have much time to think about it, though, because Dean and Sam rushed into the room, with Cas right behind them.Â
âWhat the hell are you doing here, Jo?â Dean boomed, heading right for Ana and carrying an angel blade.Â
âDean,â Cas called, trying to get in front of him.
You watched as Ana raised her hand and sent both Winchesters flying backward, knocking them on their asses, and more importantly, the blade out of Deanâs hand.
âAnael,â Cas warned.
âIâm just supposed to allow them to kill me, Castiel? I donât think so.â
You were torn. You wanted to rush over to the boys, make sure they were alright, but another part of you was telling you that you needed to get closer to Ana. What if she was right and Dean had really meant to kill her just then?
Both Winchesters were already up, Dean glaring at Ana. âYou almost got us killed! Sending us to Hell on that wild goose chase! Hell, you almost got Cas killed!â
âHe had to go to The Empty to ask Ruby where the Occultem was!â Sam added, thrusting a finger at her. âHe almost didnât make it back!â
âYouâre Jo?â Jack asked, his expression hardening. âI thought your name was Anael.â
Ana didnât spare him a glance. âThatâs my angel name. Sister Jo is my brand, you could say.â
âOccultem?â You whispered, not ever having heard of it before though you tried racking your brains.Â
Ana flashed you a look, silently telling you she would fill you in later, before resting her eyes on the two men again. âThat was a priceless item. You didnât really expect me to give it up so easily for your little war with God, did you?â Her brown eyes narrowed. âNo matter how much better looking than him you might be.â
Your eyes nearly bugged out of your head and turned onto Dean who still hadnât noticed your presence yet. He was glaring straight at Ana and you noticed the blade was back in his hand. When had you missed him picking it back up?Â
âYou shouldnât have come here,â he said in an all-too familiar menacing tone, before he began moving forward again, Sam right behind him with his own angel blade. Cas tried to put up a placating hand but he was ignored. Jack watched as it all happened, glowering in Anaâs direction now, not making a move to stop his dads. Your brain shut off and before you knew it, you were in front of Ana, gun raised.
Dean stopped short, his eyes slightly widening as he finally saw you. Samâs did, too. You were sure they highly doubted you would be on opposite sides over an angel, with a gun pointed at them no less.Â
âPut the blades down,â you ordered.
You watched as Deanâs green eyes briefly softened upon hearing you speak but then hardened again when he realized you meant business. Something was now layering his expression that looked an awful lot like betrayal. âYouâre protecting her?â He asked in disbelief. âWhat the hell, Y/N?â
You could feel Ana right behind you, her energy filling the air. She was charged up and you felt a familiar static electricity feeling at your back. You wouldnât be surprised if her eyes were doing their usual glowing trick right about now.Â
âThis is what I was trying to tell you before you two charged in here.â Cas stood next to Dean, looking at him and Sam.
âTell us what?â Dean demanded.
âSheâs with me.â All three glanced over at you, Cas giving a subtle nod as he dropped his gaze. Sam wasnât sure what to make of it but you noticed him starting to lower the blade in his hand. Dean kept glaring between you and Ana over your shoulder. Only when Cas urged him with a quiet âDeanâ, nodding towards the blade in his hand, did he finally put it down. âYouâve gotta be freakingâ kidding me,â he growled before storming out of the room. Cas briefly glanced over at you before following him. Jack, who now scowled in your direction as well as Anaâs, slowly left the room. You lowered your gun, disappointment starting to swell in your chest. So much for a nice, quiet family dinner then.
Only Sam was left and he looked torn between wanting to follow his family and coming over to give you a hug like he normally would. You made it easy for him. âItâs okay, Sam. I understand. Go.â
He pressed his lips together, giving you a sad look, before he nodded and left the room as well.
You let out a heavy breath and hung your head. The Winchesters were the only family you had left and nowâŚit looked like they were gone, too.
You felt a hand gently lay on your shoulder, the electric charge from before gone, and you slowly lifted your head. âWe should go,â you whispered after a minute. Ana let you go and you turned to throw on your jacket, sling your bag over your shoulder, and then you led her out of the room. You kept your gun handy in case it wasnât just a straight pass to the stairs. Thankfully, it was and a piece of your heart broke that Dean hadnât even given you a chance to explain before heâd written you off for good.
You kept your eyes on the road as headlights repeatedly washed over you from passing cars in the opposite lane. It was deathly quiet, you having chosen not to turn on the radio. Your thoughts kept going back to the betrayal youâd seen in Deanâs face when he realized you werenât going to let him get to the angel standing behind you. While Ana wasnât Cas, didnât he understand how things like this worked by now? Even when youâd been together for a period of time, youâd bore witness to his profound bond with Cas playing out repeatedly. Youâd seen Casâ effect on Dean and vice versa, today even.Â
âYou didnât have to do that.â
You heard Anaâs quiet words that seemed to be laced with a shocking mix of surprise and what sounded like awe. You didnât know why; it wasnât anything you hadnât done before when you two fought side by side. âDo what?â You decided youâd rather play dumb than talk about the elephant sitting between you.Â
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see the red-headed angel giving you a look. âDonât. You know exactly what Iâm talking about. You shouldnât have put yourself at risk for me.â She knew what it cost you and how badly it was tearing you up inside. And to think she had been worried about Chuck, the plan, Jack, and even Dean, though for a whole other reason on that last one.Â
You shrugged. âThatâs what we do. Itâs what youâve done for me. Why wouldnât I?â
You turned in time to see the surprise youâd heard earlier now taking up residence in her expression. It was a fleeting glimpse you caught right before she schooled her features and focused on the highway instead.
You did the same and you finally spoke the question that had been burning your tongue for the last hour into existence. âSo, are you going to tell me about the Occultem and why theyâre pissed at you enough to want to kill you? I sort of got an idea from earlier but I want to hear it from you.â
You heard a familiar scoff and if you werenât so torn up inside, you might have smiled. It was nice to hear her annoyance not aimed at you for once this entire day. âThey ambushed me at my place of business, threatened me, and then expected me to hand them the Occultem on a silver platter. Just like that. Thatâs what happened.â
âI think thereâs a little more to it than that, Ana.â You glanced over at her. âStart from the beginning.â When she narrowed her eyes in your direction, you spoke before she could. âYou owe me that at the very least,â you muttered.
You turned back to the road and you werenât sure if she saw the pain you were feeling (most likely since she always seemed to be able to see right through you; it was annoying most of the time), but she agreed. âFine.â
You swallowed down the lump that had formed in your throat at the thought track repeating in your head of âYouâre protecting her? What the hell, Y/N?â and the images of Deanâs back as he walked away from you. You were happy to focus on something else and Anaâs voice actually began to soothe you as it filled the car.Â
You didnât know how but somehow you knew everything was going to work out, Chuck ending the world or not.
You heard a familiar rumbling outside your motel room door and you quickly glanced in Anaâs direction. She looked up at you from her chair, money in her hands that she had been counting from her last service, and you gave her a nod. You threw your jacket on, keeping the gun in your pocket and easy to reach just in case. âBe careful,â you murmured.
âYou first.â
You pressed your lips together and turned back to the door. You took a deep breath before you opened it and stepped out, seeing Dean shutting the car door and meeting your eyes. He didnât appear to be armed and he was alone as heâd claimed he would be when he called you earlier, asking where you were so you two could talk. You werenât one hundred percent sure it wasnât a trap, which you absolutely hated thinking, but after Ana told you what sheâd done to them and their reaction to her earlierâŚwell, you could see why they werenât exactly thrilled with her. And if they didnât try to hurt her, that didnât mean they wouldnât do a blood sigil and banish her to someplace far away from you. You were on high alert for any possibility.Â
âHey,â he gruffed out.
âHey.â You shut the door behind you and stuffed your hands in your pockets.
You didnât see any traces of the betrayal or hurt or anger that youâd seen earlier so that was a good sign. His green eyes were no longer hard when they focused on you. âCan we go somewhere and talk?â
âI canât. Have to stay close.â You gestured back to the room. It was something Ana had asked you to do when you went over possible contingencies after Deanâs call but she hadnât needed to; you already planned to stay within running distance if you needed to get back right away. Â
Deanâs jaw clenched when he looked towards the room. âSo, sheâs got you on a short leash, huh?â
You huffed a snort, shaking your head. âGoodbye, Dean.â You began to turn back to the room, thinking this had been a colossal waste of time which just broke your heart further.
âY/N, wait! Iâ Iâm sorry.âÂ
You spun back around to face him, glaring.
âI shouldnât have said that.â
âNo, you shouldnât have,â you bit out.
Dean licked his lips and momentarily moved his gaze around until he settled on something to his left. âWhat about over there? Is that close enough?â
You glanced where he was inclining his head towards. Across the parking lot sat what looked to be a makeshift pergola gazebo or something theyâd tried to make into one anyway. A wooden picnic table sat under it and there were some lights haphazardly hung on the edges up top, snaking around the thin posts. You gave him a nod of agreement, it was private enough but still kept you close.Â
You waited for him to start walking and as you followed, you glanced around, making sure no one was trying to sneak their way up to your door or that there were any warning signs of an impending ambush. âLooks clear,â you mentally prayed to Ana. âBut keep your guard up.â For a moment, you wished you also had the angelic super hearing she had or the ability to tune into Angel Radio to be able to hear her back.
Dean took a seat on the table and you did the same, keeping some distance between you. He noticed it and his jaw clenched again. âReally? Youâre that pissed at me?â
You pressed your lips into a thin line as you thought it over, and then you moved slightly closer.Â
He let out a snort. âDidnât realize that much had changed between us.â
You stared out over the highway. âIt did.â
Dean studied you for a moment and then followed suit. âYeah, well, probably for the best.âÂ
You could feel a familiar stinging in the corner of your eyes. Dean always had the ability of using words to hit you where it hurt the most. âProbably.â
There was a moment of tense silence between you before he spoke again. âCas mentioned things might be different nowâŚfor you.â
You shrugged but didnât respond. At this point, you just wanted him to spit out what he came to say and leave. Which was indeed different from how you usually felt about getting alone time with him, but he was being a dick.
Almost as if he heard your thoughts, he turned to look at you. âIâm not trying to be a dick, Y/N. Iâm really not. But all this time and you never told me once that you had an angel riding shotgun with you? The same angel who tricked us and took Luciferâs side, and then tricked us again and almost got us all killed?â
You looked over at him with a scoff. âWhen was I supposed to tell you, Dean? In between Chuck trying to end the world and you helping with Jackâs powering up regimen so he can take him down? Or during Michaelâs mindwalk inside your head? When was I supposed to tell you? We never talk anymore.â
âThatâs not true,â he argued.
You got to your feet, glaring at him. âYes, it is! The only time I hear from you is when you need something.â You ignored Deanâs angry expression and continued. âWhen you need help for a case, information, whatever it is. That is the only time I hear from you!â
âYeah, well, itâs a two-way street. When was the last time you called just to check in? Tell us how youâre doing? When?â
You let out a laugh of disbelief. âYou told me we were done, Dean! Right after Michael possessed you the first time. You remember that?â
Now he was on his feet, too, scowling at you. âMe saying we were done didnât mean we were out of each otherâs lives forever! If I didnât call you about hunts or Sam didnât call you to ask you to keep an eye out for something wherever you were, we wouldnât even know you were still alive!âÂ
That last word made you wince. You tried to hide it but Dean saw it. He let out a breath and the next time he spoke, he was no longer yelling. âYou can blame me all you want, Y/N, but you didnât tell Sam, either.â
âThere was nothing to tell,â you mumbled, sitting back down on the table, refusing to look at him.
He gave you a look before sitting back down next to you, closer than before. âLook, I didnât come here to fight. I want to clear the air. Youâve never pulled a gun on me before.â
You arched your brows over at him. You had done it quite a few times over the years, when he was a demon being the most recent.
âNot on me,â he clarified.Â
You turned back to the road but didnât say a word.
He laid a gentle hand on your knee. âI want us to be good, Y/N. Youâre familyâŚand youâre still important to me.â
You briefly closed your eyes in pain. It had always been a tough balancing act, straddling the line of family and you and Dean being something more to one another. Even before you got together and made it official. Even back when you were teenagers. But ever since he put an end to your relationship, it had become almost impossible for you to continue doing. But he was rightâŚyou both were still family, and you didnât want him shut out of your life. You had been broken-hearted at the thought of it not a mere hour ago before heâd called.
You covered his hand with yours. âI know. Youâre still important to me, too, and youâre right, weâre family.â Â
Dean's eyes were transfixed on your hands until he glanced up at you, his eyes softer than before.
You squeezed his hand. âWeâre good.â You gave him a nod and let him go, waiting a moment before you added, âAs long as you leave Ana alone.â
He shot you a look but you never glanced away. He needed to know you meant it.
Dean sighed, studying you. âFor now,â he agreed.Â
âDean, thatâsââ
âThatâs all youâre getting out of me.â He rubbed his thumb over your knee. âUnless you tell me what happened.â
You dropped your gaze to your lap. âWhy do you want to know about that? Iâm here, arenât I?â
âBecause,â Your eyes lifted to his, hearing the breaks in his voice. âI need to know why Cas sees the claim she has on your soul.â
Crap. You should have known from how Cas was studying you since youâd set foot in the Bunker. âItâs not what you think,â you started.
âThen what is it? Because it looks to me like she tricked you into selling your soul to her.â
You moved your knee from under his hand and pulled away. âThatâs not what happened. She didnât trick me.â
âThen what did happen?â He cupped your cheeks and forced you to look at him. âY/N, talk to me,â he implored. âI need to know whatâs going on.â
You thought it over for a moment, realizing you really didnât have a way around this, now that Dean knew. And truthfully, you didnât really want one, though you still felt the heavy weight of shame wrapped around you, something you knew would be even heavier by the time you finished explaining.Â
You grabbed his hand and turned to kiss his wrist before getting to your feet. Dean let you go and you took a few steps away, your arms crossed and your back to him, taking a deep breath. âDo you remember the witch who killed my family?â
âYeah, back in Phoenix. Dad tried to track her down after but couldnât. Why?â
You pressed your lips together. âI found her.â You didnât need to turn around to know Dean was frozen in shock. âI came across her during another case.â
Dean was in front of you before you could blink. âPlease tell me you didnât take her on alone.â
You stared at him, saying nothing.
âDammit, Y/N! You should have called us! What the hell were you thinking?â
âI was thinking the bitch had killed my family and I wanted her dead.â
He shook his head, angry at you as you knew he would be. âBut you donât go it alone! Weâve talked about this. Never alone!â
âYeah, I know and youâre right, alright? But Iâm standing here in front of you now so do you want me to finish the story or not?â You snapped.
His jaw clenched and he glared at you but remained quiet.
You let out an aggravated breath. âI didnât have time to call anyone else. I didnât want her to escape and be in the wind again so the hunter I was with at the time, Carrie, she and I went after her.â Dean briefly closed his eyes but kept his gaze on you. âShe had a pack of werewolves she was working with and she set them on me. I killed a few but there were too many. They ripped me apart. Carrie, too.â You felt a lump begin to form in your throat at the thought of the hunter youâd gotten killed but you swallowed it back down. âThey were about to finish me off when two other hunters showed up. Carrie thought we might be going into a trap so she called them while I was gearing up. There were still too many werewolves but they managed to get us out of there. They drove us straight to this church in the next town where a faith healer had set up shop. The rumor going around the hunter community at that time was that this healer might actually be an angel, one of the fallen.â Your eyes began to well up. âCarrie didnât make it.â
Dean briefly dropped his gaze down to the ground.
âI almost didnât and honestly, I wouldnât have if it hadnât been for Ana. She healed me.â You nearly winced thinking about the next part you would have to tell him. âOnce I was up and moving around again, I didnât want the witch to disappear and she already had a hell of a head start so I asked Rick, one of the hunters that helped us, if he knew of a crossroads in town.â
You saw Deanâs lips part in shock and then his eyes hardened. âAre you kidding me? After everything Sam and I told you, after everything you saw happen with my deal, you stillââ
âYou didnât hear the screams my sister made when she was dying, Dean!â He pressed his lips into a thin line but didnât say anything to that. How could he? Sure, heâd seen people die in some of the worst ways imaginable since becoming a hunter, but he also saw the nightmares you had for years afterwards. They all had.
Dean had held you as you shook in terror, crying into his neck as he tried to assure you that you were safe. There were many nights your cries had woken Sam up as well and heâd slip into Deanâs bed, laying his head on your back and hugging you from behind while you sobbed and his brother whispered reassurances to you. If John was around when the nightmares happened, heâd keep quiet while his sons comforted you but the next morning, heâd let you pick the music you wanted to hear and would offer you to ride shotgun if you wanted. You would choose Deanâs favorite Led Zeppelin tape every time and sit in the back, opting to let Sam take the front. Dean would hold your hand and rub tender circles into your skin while you stared out the back window of the Impala until you would get sleepy and rest your head on his shoulder. Dean, Sam, John â none of them could keep the nightmares away, but they made you feel safe again after youâd lost your family. They became your family and John trained you to become a hunter just like his boys.
Tears threatened to spill down your cheeks. âShe was only six years old!â You had to watch as the witch had liquefied her insides, causing as much pain and torment as possible. Youâd not only heard her painful screams but the terrified yells of your mother as she also witnessed your sisterâs death before the witch moved onto your older brother. John got there in time to save you, the last one left; youâd had to watch and hear them all die â your parents, your siblings â helpless to do anything since you were magically bound. âI would have done anything to get that bitch and make sure she never hurt anyone else ever again.â
Deanâs fist clenched at his side but he nodded. He understood; you knew he did.
âAs it turns out, I didnât get that far. Ana overheard our conversation. Rick was trying to talk me out of it but I was insistent. She pulled me to the side and told me that if I was going to throw my life away to go after the hag, then she had a one-time offer for me. She offered me the same deal a crossroads demon would have: my soul for the witch. But instead of ten years, there would be no ticking clock over my head, no monsters from Hell would come to drag me down to the pit, and once I died, whenever that would be, my soul would belong to her and her alone. No Heaven, no Hell, just hers, to do with as she wished.â
âY/N,â Dean let out in a broken whisper. You could see this was killing him but you had to finish explaining, make him understand. As ashamed as you were, you still wanted him to know the truth.
âI took it, Dean.â
A tear dropped down his cheek and you fought every impulse you had to reach over and wipe it away.
âAnd she kept her part of the bargain. She packed up and traveled with us to where the witch was hiding out. We caught them off guard. Rick and Layla finished off the rest of the werewolf pack and Ana stayed with me. The witch used some sort of spell to banish Ana and then it was just me and her.â You knew this next part was going to hurt him but you had to say it. âShe killed me, Dean.â
He stared at you in horror.
âThe same way she killed my family. I felt everything they did.â You were looking through Dean now, awash in memories. âYou see, she recognized me and she decided to finish me off the same way she did them. I heard her laughing in the background while she... The pain aloneâŚâ You came back to yourself with a jolt, realizing you were no longer in that place, writhing in agony on the floor as your insides burned and turned to liquid, blood pouring from your eyes, nose, and mouth as you screamed and screamed. âThe next thing I remember, Ana was crouching over me. She had healed my body and put my soul back inside.â You whispered the last part in awe. That part of the story still inspired wonder for you, even now.Â
âShe had overpowered the witch somehow when she was able to get back to us. Ana left her for me to deal with and deal with her, I did.â You clenched and unclenched your jaw at the memory of the bitchâs screams of agony before you finished her off. You made sure she felt everything your family did, everything you had, and Ana had been more than willing to help you.
âYou died?â Dean choked out.
You glanced up at him and noticed the devastation in his expression, his eyes still wet. âFor only a few minutes,â you tried to reassure him. He didnât need to know that it had been a little longer than that. You could see how torn up he was already now that he knew what happened to you. âThe witchâs spell wasnât as effective as an angel banishing sigil so Ana was able to come back pretty quickly.â
You watched as he reached for you, cupping your cheeks and pulling you into him. His lips were on yours before you could react and you let him kiss you, feeling his desperation, knowing he was reassuring himself that you were okay, here in his arms, alive. When he finally broke away from you, he gently grasped your arms and laid his forehead against yours, staring into your eyes. âI shouldâve never let you go,â he whispered. âI was only trying to keep you safe, Iâm sorry.â
Your brows furrowed slightly. âDean, what are you talking about?â
He sighed and pressed a tender kiss to your nose before lifting his head. âWhen Michael let me go the first time, I was scared he was going to come after everybody I cared about so IâŚâ You saw his Adamâs apple bob up and down. âI ended it between us.â
Your jaw dropped. âWhy would you do that? I could have helped you track him down!â
âBecause I wanted you safe!â He yelled in exasperation. âI didnât know what Michael was gonna do, okay? I didnât want you getting caught in the crossfire!â
âYou donât get to make that decision for me!â You argued.
âYeah, I do, because I love you, goddammit!â He looked just as surprised as you felt by his accidental admission.
His words hit you like a semi on a slippery freeway. A part of you wanted to respond and the other partâŚthe other part wanted to skip right past it as if it had never been said. Especially when you thought back to the heartbreak youâd felt when he coldly told you that you were done and he needed some space, implying you needed to leave the Bunker asap. No explanation, no goodbye, justâŚdone.
The lump was back in your throat again, forcing you to swallow it back down. âYeah, well, that still doesnât give you the right to do what you did.â You crossed your arms and looked away from him, back towards the motel, so he wouldnât see the tears building in your eyes at his declaration that you would have given anything to hear more than a year ago. You saw the Impala still parked where Dean had left it and you remembered it was facing your room and who was in that room. Too little, too late now. Â Â Â
You felt Deanâs fingers gently grip your chin and turn your head back towards him. His green eyes were glistening, full of a deep sadness youâd only seen before when he talked about his mom and their family back in the day or when heâd finally managed to tell you about his time with Lisa and Ben. âAnd it didnât keep you all that safe, did it?â The corners of his lips tipped up in a remorseful smile.
You watched him for a moment and then lifted up on your toes, gripping his face to kiss him. You put everything you felt for him into it, not wanting him to ever doubt just how much of a hold he still had on your heart. When you pulled back, you looked into his eyes and spoke truly. âI love you, Dean. Iâm always going to love you. Youâre the love of my life.â His eyes softened at your words. âBut things are different now. Iâm different. And things will never be as they were before.â You ran your thumb tenderly over his lips before stepping back, putting more distance between you.Â
You saw as he tried to recover from what youâd said, nodding and turning from you to run a hand down his face, effectively wiping away the wetness from his stubbled cheeks. You heard a quiet sniffle and gave him a moment.Â
âAnd, uh,â You glanced up at him. âWhat about your soul? Cas said you still have her mark. Are you still stuck in some deal?â
You smiled, shaking your head. âNot technically. Itâs there as more of a failsafe.â
âFailsafe?â
âIn case something happens to me, then my soul goes to her. Just like it did the last time.â
âAnd what if something happens to her?â
You frowned, not liking that possibility being voiced, especially given the current circumstances. Plus, you wouldnât put it past Dean to be thinking over options to free you. âThen the mark disappears. But then itâs anybodyâs game.â
âBut youâd be free,â he insisted.
Your jaw clenched and you lifted your chin defiantly. You knew it; you knew Dean and the way he thought way too well. Youâd been trained together and hunted together for years, after all. âI donât want to be free. Not the way youâre implying.â
His brows drew together in confusion. âWhy wouldnât you want to be free?â
âYou have Cas. You should understand.â
âCas doesnât own my soul, Y/N. Thatâs completely different.â
âIs it?â
âUh, yeah, Iâd say it is.â
He obviously didnât get your meaning, or he was trying hard not to. You decided to let it go. âWe may not have the profound bond that you and Cas do, but what we have works for us. Letâs just leave it at that.â
He scrubbed at his jaw, staring at you, before closing the distance between you again. This time you expected it when he kissed you and you held onto his jacket, kissing him back. You hadnât lied before; he was the love of your life, deep within your heart, and he always would be. âIf you ever want out of this, you call me,â he whispered.Â
You nodded, closing your eyes when he leaned in to kiss you again. You knew you wouldnât be making that call but you knew he would refuse to let you go unless you gave him that reassurance. He rubbed his nose along yours and you nearly smiled at the memory it produced from when you two used to make out as teenagers.
âWhat about the plan for Chuck? And Amara? Do you still want my help with that?â
âNo, sweetheart,â he murmured. âI want you as far from here as you can get. Just in case things go South.â
You stared up at him sadly. âDean, I know you and Ana have history but sheâs only there to protect me. We could help.â
âThatâs not it. If this plan doesnât work, with Jack, then weâre all screwed.â
You tugged at his jacket with your hands. âWhich is why you can use all the help you can get.â
âY/N, you canât help on this one.â You were about to protest when he spoke again. âNot this time.â
âThen why did you call me?â
He gave you a sad smile and you felt his arms tighten around you. âWhy do you think?â
Memories flashed through the forefront of your mind:Â
âŚâBlaze of Gloryâ by Bon Jovi playing in the background of the Impala and Dean singing it into your ear as you fell asleep on his shoulder in the backseat,
âŚConversations with him and Sam about how you all would like to go out fighting if you had a choice on how youâd die as a hunter,
âŚDean holding your bare body to his in the bed of a motel room that heâd been able to secure after a few successful games of Pool while John was on a hunt, with Sam in the next room and you two having just lost your virginities to each other, murmuring how he wanted to keep you with him always, believing that youâd fallen asleep,
âŚHim cuddling up to you in the Dean Cave during a western youâd seen a thousand times (because it was one of his favorites) and him telling you that he and Sam would be Butch and Sundance but you would be Etta Place which would cause you to frown and him to then grumble that you could be his Sundance which would earn him a kiss on the cheek while Sam rolled his eyes.
You knew right then that he didnât fully believe Billieâs plan would work, though he hoped it would. Which meant you might never see him again. Because there was no way Chuck wouldnât be pissed at the attempt and come right after him and Sam.
Your vision began to blur with the building tears and you gave him your own sad smile. âAnd now youâre sending me away? Again? Thatâs not how itâs supposed to go. Remember?â
He wiped your cheeks with both thumbs. âYou said it yourself, sweetheart, things are different now. Besides, Sam and I talked it over before I came out here. He agrees. We both want you somewhere safe.â
âSo youâre making me Etta Place again?â You choked out.
âBaby,â A tear made its way down his cheek. âYou were never supposed to be anyone else.â
You sobbed out a laugh and hugged him tightly, not wanting to let him go. âYou could come with us. You and Sam and Cas and Jack. You could leave this all behind and come with us. Just as long as you donât pick Bolivia.â
He chuckled into your ear. âI wish I could, sweetheart. Chuck would find us wherever we tried to go. Billieâs plan is the best weâve got. Weâre going to see it through. And the only way I can do that,â He pulled back from you and held onto your arms, rubbing soothing circles into them with his thumbs. âIs if I know youâre far away from here. Sheâs another dick angel in my book and I donât trust her, but if sheâll keep you safe, then thatâs all I care about right now.â
You nodded and sniffled. âAre you sure I canât change your mind?â
He framed your face with his hands and shook his head.Â
More tears spilled down your cheeks. âI love you,â you whispered.
âI love you, too, sweetheart. Always have,â He pulled you into an embrace and kissed the side of your head. âAlways will.â
You didnât know how long you stayed like that for but he held you until the tears finally stopped flowing. You were ashamed at how easily you had been willing to dismiss him from your life after he had broken your heart, after heâd threatened Ana, and now you might never see him again. Your heart literally felt torn in two. A part of you wanted to go with him, no matter how he or Ana might protest, no matter if you ended up dying, but the other part wanted to give him what he asked for. So he could have peace of mind and be able to focus on the plan if for nothing else.  Â
You had loved Dean Winchester since you were ten years old. You knew in that moment, just as you did back then and all of the time between, that you would love him for the rest of your life, however long that might be. He would always have a piece of your heart, even if your soul belonged to somebody else. Â
You watched as Dean backed Baby out of her spot in front of your room and you gave him a wave. Heâd wiped away your tears, kissed you goodbye one last time, and told you to haul ass out of Kansas by morning. Heâd promised to call you the following evening with an update.Â
Once he was speeding down the road out of sight, you opened the door, letting out a breath of relief to see Ana still sitting where youâd left her. You knew Dean didnât mean her any harm at the moment, but you werenât sure just how much of your goodbye with Dean sheâd actually heard. Probably everything, if her stare was anything to go by.Â
âI take it you heard everything?â
âI did.â She got to her feet, making her way over to you. âSo you still love him, just as I said earlier which you completely denied.â
You gave her a look. âAna, if you heard everything then you knowââ  Â
âI do.â Her eyes studied your face, most likely seeing the puffiness underneath your bloodshot eyes from crying so much. She reached out a hand and cupped your cheek, tenderly stroking it with her thumb. âIâll give Castiel one thing, human love is beyond puzzling. I certainly didnât need a magic 8 ball to know how that little convo was going to go. Despite how much Dean Winchester has hurt you, I was pretty sure for a moment there you were going to get another room and I was going to have to listen to the sounds of two primates mating in the wild.â
You yanked your face away and glared at her. âStop it, Ana.â You made your way to the bed, roughly unzipping your bag and tossing everything of yours inside. âDean said we should get out of Kansas as soon as possible. He doesnât know when the next part of Billieâs plan is kicking off or when Amara is going to show up with Chuck, so it might not be safe to spend the night. We should keep moving.â You felt her hand on your shoulder and you let out an irritated sigh before turning to scowl at her. âWhat?â
She stared at you for a moment before leaning down to brush her lips over yours. You froze, unsure of what to do. Ana had never done something like this before and even stranger, you could feel yourself responding to it. Just like you had with Dean, though it was different, softer, and lit up a separate part of you inside. You felt yourself attempting to deepen the kiss but she pulled away, leaving you feeling dazed, yearning, guilty, and frustrated â a confusing swirl of emotions.
She smirked down at you, pleased with your reaction and trailed a gentle finger over your lips. âWe should be fine here for the night. We can leave in the morning when youâve gotten some sleep so you can drive. Iâll keep watch.â She turned and walked away, still smirking, and left you watching after her in complete shock.
You shook it off the best you could and went about getting the things you would need for the night out of your bag. Ana was kissing you now? That was new. Could today get any more complicated?
You were submerged in darkness, nothing but pure black everywhere you looked. The last thing you knew you were screaming out in agony, feeling infinite pain, mentally begging for death. Then, nothing. You were just floating along inâŚnothing.
âCome to me.â
You heard the sweetest voice you had ever heard, calling out to you, and you wanted to go to it but you werenât sure how. When you attempted to move, you couldnât. You were frozen in a sea of nothing.Â
âY/N,â the voice called. âCome to me now.â As soothing as that voice had been, you could hear the clear command at the end. You wanted to go but how?Â
Suddenly, a shaft of bright blue-white light appeared right in front of you. âLetâs go,â the voice called, sounding much closer and it vibrated off of the blackness surrounding you. The light reached out to you and you somehow reached back. You liked the light, trusted it, and it felt warm when it touched you. Warmth that reminded you of your grandmotherâs homemade apple pie fresh out of the oven, Dean and Sam snuggled up against you in the motel rooms youâd stayed in often as children, your motherâs smile as you and your siblings played on the swingset in the backyard, the blanket your father wrapped around you when you were home sick from school, the feeling of Deanâs hand in yours â pure warmth. You felt completely safe and whole, as if nothing bad or painful could get at you here, not while the light was touching you.
âThere.â The light pulled you further into it and it was so blindingly beautiful that you felt the urge to cry at the same time that you wanted to smile. âCome to me.â At this final command, you pushed into the light at the same time it pulled you forward and everything went white.
The next second, you were back in your body, staring up at a familiar red-headed woman though her eyes were glowing the same color light you had been moving towards a mere moment ago. Two little dots of the blue-white light focused on you as the angelâs hands rested on your chest, a golden glow emanating from them.Â
You blinked and coughed and the lights faded from her eyes as did the glow from her hands. Now very worried looking brown eyes were gazing down at you. âTook you long enough,â she muttered. âHow do you feel?â
You coughed again and tried to sit up with her helping you. You suddenly took notice of a familiar face, a face that haunted your dreams every single night, sneering at you, her hands bound by an invisible force, hanging from something unseen. Her lips also appeared to be sealed by that same force. âWhatâŚhappened?â You rasped out.
âThereâs no easy way to say this. You died.â
You turned wide eyes on her. âWhat? H-How?â
Ana glared over at the witch. âHer.â
You met the witch with your own glare and it all came back to you in a flash: the pain, the torture, the screaming, your family. At that last thought, you slowly got to your feet, Ana helping to steady you. âWhatâs holding her?â
She smirked over at the old hag. âMe.â
Something occurred to you just then. âWhy did you bring me back? You had my soul. You couldâve just walked away with it. No one wouldâve been the wiser. So why bring me back?â You were very well aware of how this angel operated. You had been brought to the forefront of her business after all, bleeding and torn up on deathâs door. Granted, she hadnât charged you for saving your life but you werenât ignorant to the donations she usually collected for her services.Â
Her jaw tightened and you could tell she was thinking it over before she turned to answer you. âIâm nothing if not an excellent businesswoman. A dealâs a deal. The witch was alive and you werenât. That wasnât the terms of our agreement so I brought you back. I canât have word getting around that I donât hold up my end of the deal. Itâs not good for business.â
You werenât quite sure you believed her. Not only because she was an angel (and an angel that charged people money to heal them) but because somehow you just knew that hadnât been the reason sheâd done it. But that was a problem for later. Now, your focus was on the witch. âSo, are you going to let her go so I can finally finish her off?â
âHmm, I donât really think thatâs a good idea, do you? Last time you went toe to toe with her, you died.â
âYou werenât here then as my backup generator. Now, you are.â
âOh, really, Rocky? Thatâs what you think I am? A defibrillator? Maybe I should let her go and let you die again. And this time, I wonât bring you back. You would make a nice addition to my collection of beautiful things stored in my Louis Vuitton. You know, they say diamonds are forever but itâs really all about souls this year.â
You both heard the witch trying to yell something but unable due to her invisible gag. âOkay, seriously, we can argue later. Let her go, Ana, Iâve got this.â You picked up the blade that had been thrust out of your hand before the pain and screaming started, and tensed in preparation.
The angel turned to you with brows drawn together. âAna?â
âJo then. Now, come on, letâs do this.â You were more than ready to take this bitch down.
âNo. I like the sound of Ana. Itâs better.â
You glanced at her in disbelief. âSeriously?â
âOh. Right.â She went to wave her hand in the witchâs direction when she stopped. âActually, may I make a suggestion for this little revenge fantasy of yours?âÂ
You shot her a look.Â
âI think youâll like it.â She gave you a wicked smirk and then leaned in to whisper in your ear. A smirk started to appear on your own face the more she talked. She had been right. You liked her suggestion. It was going to take you hours to finish the witch and since you had just been brought back to life, fully healed, you had more than enough energy to pull it off.Â
Bright flashes happened and you could hear the witchâs muffled screams as you carved into her and Ana then healed her. More bright flashes and you could see Anaâs devious smirk as she began to neutralize her angel-style but stopped right before it took. Another bright flash and you glared into the witchâs eyes as you stabbed her, gritting out, âThat was for my sister.â As youâd anticipated after agreeing to Anaâs suggestion, it took both of you hours to torture and kill the witch. Ana had liquified her insides multiple times throughout before bringing her back from the brink. Rick and Layla had left long ago, satisfied that they had gotten payback for Carrie with the werewolves they took out and not wanting to be a part of what you and Ana were doing to the witch. Another bright flash and the witchâs lips unsealed with a scream that sounded an awful lot like your sisterâs that then turned into booming thunder.
You woke with a gasp and grabbed your gun that always had a few rounds of witch-killing bullets loaded, sitting straight up and glancing around the dark room, aiming for anything that might move. Your eyes came to a stop on Ana, sitting in the same chair as before, her eyes glowing that familiar bluish-white light. You lowered your gun in relief. To anyone else, this very picture might scare them but to you it was soothing and made you feel safe; it reminded you of when sheâd brought you back and how it felt before you were back in your body completely.Â
The glowing light suddenly disappeared and the dark reigned once more. âItâs okay,â she reassured. âItâs just a thunderstorm.â Almost as if to solidify her explanation, a loud clap of thunder sounded overhead. âNo oneâs here but me.â
You nodded and when the room lit up with a lightning flash, you could see she was right. You placed your gun back underneath your pillow and hugged your knees to your chest. âI had that dream again.â
Ana stopped counting her money and glanced up at you. You always marveled at her ability to see in complete darkness, to the point that she could do things like that without any light whatsoever. âThe witch one?â
âYeah,â you whispered.Â
âFrom when you were younger or from when she killed you?â
âWhen I died. I think telling Dean maybe got me thinking about it again so thatâs whyâŚâ You gestured towards your head. âI was remembering the pain and the screamingâŚâÂ
You heard the chair lightly scrape across the floor and in the next flash of lightning, you saw her coming over to you. She gently sat on the bed next to you and wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close until your head was on her shoulder. âIâm sorry I didnât get there fast enough.âÂ
You shook your head. âDonât apologize. You saved me and then helped me finish her.â
âTrue.â She ran a tender hand over your hair. âBut I wish you didnât have those memories.â After a moment, she added, âI could take them away if you wanted.â Sheâd made you this offer before but you had refused it then and you were going to refuse it now.
âNo, thanks though. I need those memories to keep me sharp, help keep me alive.â
âI thought thatâs what you had me for,â she teased.
You smiled. âMy defibrillator?â
Ana scoffed. âI still canât believe you called me that.â
âYou called yourself that. I said you were my backup generator.â
âSame thing.â
You lifted your head and shot her a look. âHardly.â
She smiled and you couldnât help but study her. Remembering the kiss earlier, you knew she cared for you more than the average human (any other human really) but you never thought in a million years that she could possibly have feelingsâŚlike that. She was an angel and you were only human after all. Didnât Cas say once that his true form was the size of a Chrysler building and that humans were mere ants to angels? How did the Chrysler building feel anything for an ant?
You remembered seeing Anaâs face for the first time through a haze of pain. She had stared down at you as she started to heal you, her lips parted in shock before they pressed together in determination. You thought back to her insistence that you take her up on her offer of a soul deal to get what you wanted, assuring you that demon deals were a nasty, messy business that you definitely had to read the fine print on before you signed. And the one thing you hadnât told Dean is that when Ana brought you back after the witch killed you, her mark was no longer on your soul. When you died, your soul had gone to her as per the deal youâd made, but once you were back inside your body, breathing again, your soul was your own. So her whole line of wanting to make sure you both got what you wanted out of the deal had been complete bullshit. Something you didnât find out until later on, when she reamed you out for almost dying again on another hunt: a dark entity in an abandoned asylum outside of Chicago. By that time, you trusted Ana enough to make another deal with her. If something happened to you, you trusted that she would keep your soul safe until she revived you or otherwise. What that otherwise was you couldnât be sure, but you trusted her implicitly to look out for you. Something she had been doing ever since you crossed each otherâs paths.
Things suddenly became so clear to you, almost as if you had been trying to see out of a foggy window but no matter how much you rubbed at it or turned the defroster on, it never clearedâŚuntil now.Â
Her smile faded slightly when you leaned in and gently brushed your lips against hers, pulling back to see what she would do. Another lightning flash lit up the room and you could see her glancing back and forth between you and your mouth, leaning in slowly. You met her halfway and a light fluttery feeling bloomed in your chest when you connected and this time it was more than just a brush of lips. You turned your body slightly towards her and cupped her cheek, taking control of the kiss. It surprised you a little but it felt like you were kissing someone who was inexperienced. You couldnât tell if it had to do with you being a woman or a human, and she was holding back either way, or if she had never truly done this before. Regardless, you looked forward to finding out.
She began to mimic your movements and the kiss grew more passionate. You realized that you wanted more of the kiss, more of her. You reached up and began to slowly unbutton her Mulberry silk blouse (as sheâd told you so many times before when warning you not to get it dirty if you opened something near her) but her hand covered yours, stopping you.Â
You broke away from her, your brows drawn together. âWhat?â
She trailed fingertips from your cheek down to your lips, intently studying you.
âAna?â
Her eyes met yours. âYou need sleep so you can drive in the morning. I said we would be okay staying here tonight, but once morning hits, we need to leave.â You went to protest when she shook her head. âOnce weâre far enough away, weâll have plenty of time for this. But for now, sleep.â
You wanted to argue that Chuck could soon end all life as you knew it so there was no time like the present but this was also new to you. Youâd never been with a woman before, never mind an angel. What were the rules? How did it go? Being with Dean, youâd seen some porn in your time so you vaguely had an idea how it went with women, but nothing concrete. Youâd only ever been with Dean and a few other guys after all. But an angel inside a female human vesselâŚand a female humanâŚput point blank, how the hell did that work?    Â
So, you didnât push and instead, nodded your agreement. Ana got off the bed and you laid back down, settling the sheets over you once more. She took a seat next to you, sitting against the headboard, and began to gently brush your hair back with her hand. You had always wondered why she always seemed to be touching you or caressing you when you two were alone (and she wasnât miffed at you); now you knew why. It wasnât long before your eyes started to close and you began to drift off, hoping you wouldnât go straight back into a nightmare. Thankfully, the thunder seemed to be moving away from your location.
Almost as if she heard your thoughts, Ana murmured, âSleep. Iâll keep you safe.â
You nearly smiled at her words. You never told her this because not only would she have gotten offended but she wouldâve denied it to the ground, but most times, you almost felt like you had a guardian angel watching over you. A guardian angel that dressed better than most humans and would kill for a top of the line Hermes handbag (and you meant that literally). Who gave you dirty looks and a hard time most days, but a guardian nonetheless. Now, you werenât quite sure what she would be to you. You were now glad she had stopped you before. You both had some things to figure out and a discussion should be had whenever you got to where you were going next, but regardless, one thing was for sure: you knew she would keep you safe.
A/N: I know Cas had to stick his hand inside a human's chest to be able to read the marks of an angel on the bones of that human, but I decided to adjust it for fic purposes. I initially was going to do something similar to the handprint but I liked this idea better.
Please let me know if you would like to be tagged for this character.

Yuletide 2024 Nominations!
Hello, my dears!
It's the time of year again to nominate the 7KPP characters for Yuletide! For those who are unfamiliar, Yuletide is a yearly fanfiction gift exchange for small fandoms (fewer than 1000 works in English) on AO3, where the fandoms and characters that can be requested are nominated by users. You can find more information about it on the AO3 collection or on their Dreamwidth.
Nominations are currently open, for both fandoms and for characters. 7KPP will definitely be nominated but individual characters to request will also need to be nominated, so we're putting together a list to keep track of which characters have already been nominated, and who we have yet to nominate!
Note that you do not have to participate in the gift exchange itself to nominate, though you do have to have an AO3 account! You also do not have to nominate to participate, so if you're interested in the future, please feel free to hop in and join the fun!
Nominations are open through September 20 at 9 am UTC!
Please reply/reblog this post/message me to let me know who you are nominating and I will update the post accordingly so we can keep as careful track as we can! Also, people who don't have AO3 accounts who want to suggest additional characters to add to the list who I may have forgotten are welcome to!
Much love to everyone, and I'm sorry for the long absence! We will hopefully get an announcement about 7KPP Week out soon!
-Mod Tina

Yoo Love story with Zamasu and Anael
<3
Send "Love Story with ____" for my muse's reaction on finding a romantic fanfiction about themselves paired with that character
Who would write something this... saucy? Either way, he had better dispose of it. Or... Maybe Anael would like to read this? He shook his head at that notion, but he was at a loss for words on what to do.

Forbidden Love
Pairing: Anael x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1.8k
Warnings: fluff
Summary: Relationships between humans and angels are strictly forbidden, but you and Anael prove that there can be good--and love--between the two species.
wing fic (2020 and 2021) for @spnfluffbingoâ
secret identity for @spnfemslashbingoâ
Authorâs Note: This is unbetaâd and all mistakes are mine. If you have any requests, please send them in!
The best part about dating an angel is the adventures you get to take together. No modern human can say that theyâve been on top of the pyramids, or that theyâve flown above the clouds. Youâve been on these magical and crazy adventures with the love of your life, but you can never tell anyone. Humans know that angels exist, but there is a strict rule against humans and angels dating and falling in love. The only contact angels are allowed to have with humans is when they are looking over their shoulder and protecting them from the evils within this world.
Your angel started off as that until you started to notice her everywhere you go. She stood out from the rest of the crowd, always right behind you, never too far away. Most humans ignore their angel unless something tragic happens, but youâve established youâre not like most humans. Instead of living your life the way itâs supposed to be lived, you thought it was a good idea to confront your angel and talk to her.
Anael was shocked you wanted something to do with her, but she didnât turn you away. The rules stated that if a human isnât in danger or putting themselves in danger, then there is no reason to talk to them or even let them know an angel is watching over them. However, Anael took one look at you and decided you were worth talking to.
If your friends and family knew what youâve been doing, they would disown you. If Anaelâs superiors knew what she did when she left Heaven, then she would for sure get punished for centuries to follow. Itâs why you two only talk, hang out, and enjoy each otherâs company in the comfort of your home. The more you spent time with her, the more you fell for her.
Itâs not like you wanted it to happen, but you canât choose who you fall in love with. Itâs strange how much an angel understands you more than your own family and friends. For as long as you can remember, there has always been a hole inside your heart that was always too big to fill. Clearly, there was something missing, and you spend years trying to figure out the puzzle piece.
When you met Anael, the piece finally fell into place. You couldnât let her go, and she refused to let you go.
It sucked you couldnât tell your friends about your angel, what you two have been doing, and the fact that youâve been growing closer to the point where your relationship takes a turn into Romanceville. You wanted to gush to your friends about your new girlfriend, but they would never understand. Anael wanted so badly to tell her friends about the amazing woman she met and how happy you make her feel, but she could never expose you like that.
So, youâre forced to keep your relationship a secret, but you honestly didnât mind. As long as you have Anael by your side, you were okay with anything. Maybe one day youâd get to tell the world about your relationship, but today is not that day.
You and Anael sit on your couch, limbs tangled together, her fingers through your hair, and yours brushing against her wings. Youâve never seen what they look like since humans arenât able to see them with the naked eye. Youâve touched them, got touched by them, smelled them, and even heard them, but you yearn to see them. You really want to know if they are as beautiful as they feel.
Itâs the kind of night that you spend inside. Itâs raining, the fire is going in the fireplace, and a movie is playing on your flat-screen TV. Your fingers dance against the soft feathers, touching and memorizing the feel of each one you come into contact with. Itâs the perfect evening that requires no speaking whatsoever. There are no words that need to be said that describe how you feel in this exact momentâitâs all in how you handle her wings with care and delicacy.
âYou know, Iâve never been to one of those,â you state.
There is a masquerade ball happening in the movie, and it looks like everyone is having a good time. Youâve always wanted to go to one of those and dress up and meet someone mysterious. Well, youâve already met someone mysterious, but it would be nice to dress up and pretend to be someone else for a night.
âThereâs an angel ball coming up. My bosses like to throw one just to celebrate all the good work we do, and because itâs on Earth, itâs why we wear masks. The bouncer is an angel so he doesnât let in any humans despite them always trying to get in,â Anael laughs.
âBut Iâm human. There are rules against us dating.â
âI got that covered,â she smirks.
Youâre not sure what Anael meant when she said, âI got that coveredâ. It could mean a lot of things, but your only instruction was that you go get ready and look sexy. Youâve decided to wear a deep red strapless dress that poofs out at the bottom. Itâs more like Arielâs pink dress from the Little Mermaid than anything, just deep red. The mask youâre wearing covers the top half of your face, is red lace, and there is a black feather on the right side sticking up. Itâs sexy and beautiful, and you canât wait to finally go out with your girlfriend.
You stand in front of your body mirror and look at yourself, rubbing your lips together to even out your lipstick. Anael enters the bedroom with a knife in her hand, and you turn to her in confusion. Youâre shocked by how gorgeous she looks. Sheâs wearing a slim gold dress that goes down to her feet and a white mask that only covers half of her face in lace. Her hair is done in soft curls, and she pinned her left side to her head so that her right side is flowering on her own. However, with the knife in your hand, youâre distracted in the worst way.
âWhat are you doing with that knife?â you ask.
âYou look so beautiful,â she grins.
âSo do you. Whatâs going on?â
âIâm doing the only thing I know will guarantee your safety. Iâm giving you some of my grace.â
âWhat? Isnât that dangerous?â
âNot the amount Iâm giving you. Itâs only going to be in your system for a few hours. Long enough for us to have fun at the ball and make it home in time. The other angels wonât see past the grace and will believe youâre an angel.â
âAre you sure?â
âYes.â
She takes out a small vial and cuts her throat so that a white light shines through. Her grace flows out of her and into the vial, filling it up quickly. Once there is enough, she runs a finger over the wound and it closes. The grace shines brightly in the vial, mesmerizing you. It sparkles in the light, but you donât have time to dwell on it for too long.
âOpen your mouth.â
You do as youâre told, and the grace flows out of the vial and into you. To say that it feels weird is an understatement. You feel like you can do anything with the grace that runs through your veins. Your whole body is consumed by it, and you can see things youâve never seen before. A film covers your eyes, and Anaelâs wings come into view.
They are big and beautiful, almost as tall as your ceiling. The feathers flutter and dance when they know theyâre being watched, and you canât help but smile. You want to cry but you donât want to ruin your makeup.
âYour wings are so pretty,â you gasp.
âThey're a pain in the ass,â she laughs. âNow, the grace will only last a few hours, so we have to go now.â
The ball is all the way downtown, but thatâs no problem for an angel. Just to assure herself that no time will be wasted, she teleports you and her to the alley behind the place just to get there faster. You two head to the front where the angelic bouncer is. Youâre nervous as hell, but you stay silent as to not ruin this. The bouncer looks at Anael and then at you, eyeing you suspiciously.
âIs there a problem?â she asks with a sweet smile.
He takes a few pauses before answering.
âNo. Have a good time, ladies.â
He lets you in, and only until youâre out of his sight do you giggle in relief. The party is in full effect, and there are angels everywhere. There are tables of food scattered around, but you thought angels didnât have to eat. Anael eats with you only so you donât feel left out, but you know she doesnât particularly enjoy it.
There are a group of female angels huddled by the corner and when they see Anael, they squeal and greet her with hugs and smiles. Anael seems so happy to see her friends, but the sight only makes you feel guilty. She canât hang with her friends when youâre around, but you can hang with yours when sheâs around. Itâs not fair, and you donât know how to make it better for her.
âHey! Ladies, this is Y/N⌠my girlfriend,â Anael introduces you.
âGirlfriend?? Why have you been hiding her?â
The girls mutter excitedly to each other before turning to face you.
âWeâre Anna, Mabel, and Sabrina. How long have you two been together?â Anna asks.
âAbout a year now,â you smile brightly.
Anael seems happy with her friends, so you decided to explore on your own so she can catch up with them. Youâre starving, so you head over to one of the tables to grab something to eat. They have everything you can think of, and one of your favorite snacks is just sitting there begging you to take a bite. You do, and just about everyone in the room stops and stares at you.
Anael rushes over to you and grabs your hand, smiling sweetly at you.
âAngels donât eat, sweetheart.â There is evidence left on your face from the food you were just eating, and she wipes it away with her thumb. âCome on. Iâll get you something to eat when weâre done. Right now, I want to dance with you.â
âOkay, sorry,â you chuckle and finish swallowing.
She takes you to the middle of the dance floor and pulls you close. Her hands go to your waist and yours wrap around her neck. Being here with her is magical, and you couldnât have been more happier than in this moment.
âI love you so much,â you grin.
âI love you.â
She leans in and kisses you slowly, moving her lips in time with yours. Itâs said that when angels are happy, their grace glows brightly for all to see.
Right now, you and Anael light up the entire dance floor, content with being in each otherâs arms.

In It to Win It
Pairing: Dean x Anael
Square Filled: Coach!Dean
Warnings: Nothing really. Grumpy Dean if thatâs a warning
Rating: General
Word Count: 448

SPN AU BINGO MASTERLIST
Anael was stubborn. Dean remembered her from when he was just starting out, working as hand to head coaches. He remembered how she held her head high, when people told her she was too tall to be a jockey or how she snapped back when some jerk had the audacity to tell her women werenât strong enough to rein the true power of a thoroughbred. Back then he had chuckled behind his bossâ back when she had walked straight up to him, telling him he would eat his words when she beat his horse when someone wiser than him, had hired her. She had too. Anael wasnât all talk. She was one of the best damn jockeys Dean had ever seen and he hadnât thought twice about hiring her, when Bobby Singer hired him as head coach for Singer Stables.
Anael was smart as hell. She was brave and she knew just how to read her own horse along with the opponents within split seconds. She was courageous and took chances few other jockeys dare. They paid off and she rode Singer stables to victory again and again.
Anael was infuriating. She never just did what Dean told her to do. She questioned everything, made suggestions when Dean just wanted her to follow orders. She made him think about the choices that had been obvious in his mind. Sometimes when he defended them, she crocked her head in thought before nodding in agreement, while others she stood her ground until Dean agreed to at least try things her way once, before dismissing her. Even if Dean hated to admit it, she made him a better coach.
Anael was gracious and absolutely breathtaking. Dean werenât sure when it had happened, when they had gone from fighting and him considering firing her every other day, to him seeking out her company when the days work ended. He wasnât sure what it was about this woman, but he was head over heels without even registering he he had begun falling.
Anael was strong, headstrong, brilliant, a pain in Deanâs ass and absolutely drop dead gorgeous. The day the mare she and Dean had trained together from the day she was born won the derby she had, wrapped her arms around Deanâs neck the second she got off the horse. Her lips collided with Deanâs and his arms instinctively closed around her waist pulling her closer. The way his head was spinning and she was smiling, when they pulled apart for air, proved to Dean with absolute certainty he was in way over his head, but he also didnât want it any other way.
Anael was Deanâs and he was hers.
Please reblog; help me spread my work - Leave a comment. Feedback is fuel

Candles In A Dark Room
Anael came home from the hospital not surprised to find her home dark and empty. James wouldnât be home for a few hours yet. âPerfect.â She thought as she unlocked the door and went inside. She knew she had plenty of time to do just what she wanted.
The angel made her way to the bedroom stripping out of her blue scrub top and pants where she smiled to herself as she stood in front of the mirror her plan playing through her mind like a perfect romantic film.
She tugged on the hair tie that kept her he hair away from her face when she worked. Sighing softly as her silky red locks flowed freely down her back.
Anael picked up her silver handled hairbrush it was a wedding gift from her best friend Rowena. She slowly ran the brush through her hair. The firm pressure she used against her scalp always seemed to push away some of the dayâs stress.
Before heading to the bathroom she walked around the bedroom making the final preparations needed for Jamesâs surprise. Little did he know that sometimes she would lie awake and listen to him talk in his sleep learning tiny little secrets he thought no one ever knew.
Taking one final look around the room Annie smiled to herself and headed to the bathroom. She drew a bath added her bath salts slipped out of her bra and panties and stepped into the tub giving a small satisfied sigh as the comforting heat of the water surrounded her.
She washed slowly letting her skin absorb the sweet scent of lavender. She washed her hair using the matching shampoo. Finally she stepped out , dried off wrapped her hair in a towel and carefully applied her body lotion.
Annie glanced in the mirror smiling to herself when she realized she was finally satisfied with her handiwork. She dropped the towels that covered her body and hair.
She switched off the bathroom light and returned to her room. She took a final look around making sure everything was perfect.
She slowly walked across the large room and climbed on to the bed.* âJames will be home soon.â *Anael thought smiling to herself as her body shimmered surrounded by candles in a dark room.

"I hate you." "You have a weird way of showing that." - Anael Prompt Response
Summary: Anael calls you to pick her up after she leaves Cas back at the Emporium. Having just come off of a rough hunt, you're really not that inclined to be at the angel's beck and call.
Pairing: Anael x Female!Reader; Anael x Female!Huntress Reader
A/N: Prompt from @creativepromptsforwriting (#941). For Anael's version of this prompt response, I had quite a few ideas that got written but just didn't seem to work out for one reason or another. Eventually, I settled on this and the more I wrote it, the more it felt right to me. So, I hope it's okay.
This is meant to take place right after 14x17.
Unbeta'd so all mistakes are mine.
Warnings: mentions of drug-like usage/using behavior; implied sex; mentions of child death

Your phone started to buzz on the table and when you glanced at the screen, you let out a snort. You seriously contemplated letting the call go to voicemail but you figured that would be more trouble than it was worth in the end. You swiped up on the screen and held the phone to your ear.Â
âYeah,â You greeted.
âItâs me.â
You rolled your eyes. âI know. What do you want?â
You heard her scoff on the other end. Good, maybe she was finally getting the message. âWow, bypassing the small talk and getting right to it, huh? Why, Iâm doing well, Y/N, and thanks for asking. Iâm so glad I called.â
You wiped your hands on a rag. âCut the crap, Ana. You and I both know you wouldnât have called if you didnât need something. So, what do you need?â
She was silent for a moment and you could just imagine the scowl on her face. âI need a ride,â she sniffed.
âA ride?â You nearly laughed. âLast I checked, youâre an angel. Canât you, you know, fly wherever you need to?â You knew you were being a bit of an ass but you didnât care; it was better this way.
âYou know I canât fly.â You could practically hear her eyes roll through the phone. âAnd even if I could, with everything thatâs going on right now, itâs better to keep a low profile.â
âMichaelâs gone, Ana. Well, that Michael anyway. You donât need to worry anymore,â you assured her, a bit of compassion leaking from your tone. You couldnât help it; youâd seen how unsettled sheâd been after Michael, who was wearing Dean Winchester at the time, paid her a visit. Sheâd almost looked scared and as she told you all too often, angels didnât get scared. It had taken some coaxing (not as much as you expected though) but you managed to finally get her to do the right thing and call Sam Winchester to give him a heads up about his brotherâs location as well as Michaelâs plan. That was the thing about the angel you were currently on the line with. She talked a big game and pretended she didnât care, she appeared to only be interested in money, couture, and having the table tilted towards her. However, you knew differently.
For instance, when she counted money, yes she was committing the amount to mind, but she also did it as a nervous tic (which was weird for an angel to have). While as a super-strong celestial being she could brazenly count her money anywhere in front of anyone and never worry, she never did it in front of the people she was helping. âBad for business.â Thatâs what sheâd told you when you first asked but you noticed that she counted the same bills that she had counted an hour beforehand and the amount hadnât changed. There was something comforting to her about having the cash in hand, whether because she had been smart and made it on her own, or it gave her a sense of freedom from the existence she had known previously as well as instilling a feeling of value within her. Before sheâd been a button pusher and punished for asking questions; now she was a self-made businesswoman and her own boss, answering to no one.
She also appeared to be vain and completely full of herself, thanks to her vesselâs beautiful looks and how she presented herself through the actual Jo. Though through your association together, when she believed you and the others werenât looking, you caught her healing a hurt child or a sick old woman without asking for any form of payment. Youâd gotten to know her and you believed there was a good side to her, when she wasnât being self-serving that is. But then again what did you know about celestial beings?Â
Which is what had you straightening up and clearing your throat quietly, removing all softness from your voice. âSo you can get someone else to pick you up, hell take an Uber for all I care, but Iâm in the middle of something and I canât just drop everything to come get you whenever the hell you decide to call.â
Silence.
You tossed the rag you had been using onto the workbench. You had been changing the oil on your car, having just arrived back from a particularly brutal case the night before. Maintaining the classic car you drove, keeping to routine, that was your own source of comfort. You waited for her to respond to you, most likely some snippy yet witty reply. Most other hunters might not be willing to risk pissing off an angel, but Ana was no ordinary angel and you werenât any other hunter. You two might not have the bond Dean Winchester had with Castiel, but you and Ana seemed to share an understanding. Well, most of the time.
âHow bad?â
âWhat?â
âHow bad?â She repeated. âThe case. How bad was it?â
You hung your head, pressing your lips into a thin line. She definitely knew you more than you gave her credit for. âPretty bad,â you mumbled.
âYour crew?â
You let out a breath. âStill all accounted for. Though theyâll be taking a well-earned short vacation for the time being.â The truth was you all needed a breather after that.
âY/N.â
âYeah?â
âCome pick me up,â she urged, not sounding so demanding this time. âIâm not that far from you.â
This wasnât a good idea. âAna, I donâtââ
âCome see me,â she coaxed softly. âYou need me, I can tell.â
Your reflex was to automatically protest her words. âI donât needââ But then you thought about how you hadnât slept a wink since what happened and how youâd had to consistently bury yourself into something to occupy your mind, trying not to think of the sound of the kidsâ screams or how theyâd looked after. You also thought about how you were running on fumes, hanging by a thread, and you were struggling really hard to put this one behind you.
âYou do,â she insisted, almost as if she heard your thoughts.Â
You thought it over for a moment. You really could go for a drive, to try to clear your head if for nothing else. But at the same time, you wanted your space and company was the last thing you wanted, especially hers. She had a way of seeing right through you; you supposed it was her being an angel and all. But right now all you wanted to do was curl into yourself and retreat from the world until things in your head made sense again (because the world never would).Â
âY/N,â she tried again, her tone still gentle yet also letting you know she wasnât going to let this go. The more you resisted, the more she was going to push. Even if she did indeed have to get a ride from someone else. You could almost guarantee, somehow, someway, sheâd be on your doorstep before the nightâs end.Â
Fuck it. You sighed and moved over to the sink to wash your hands. âWhatâs the address?âÂ
You watched as Ana approached the old pick-up youâd chosen to drive instead of your car, opting to stay lowkey, and she got in. Her brown eyes were intent on you from the moment she settled into her seat. You knew she could see just how broken you were after last night, how you were barely hanging on, and you hated it.
âFind us a place,â she commanded.
You shot her a look. âAnaâŚâ
âFind one.â Her tone brooked no argument.
You flashed a glare over at her but shifted the truck into gear regardless and did as she said. You knew she wouldnât let up until you did.
You coasted to a stop and put the truck into park before turning it off. You had found an inconspicuous spot at what looked to be a park for bike riders, power walkers, and wanderers alike. There appeared to be a pond in the middle and ducks were floating along the glassy surface that was studded with flowers and lilypads. The wind rustled through the trees and the sun was just starting to sink down behind the mountains, painting the sky in hues of pink, purple, yellow, and orange â a marriage of shades of color that Man had not been able to replicate entirely, leaving Nature as the sole artist to achieve that palette. It was beautiful and all you could think about was how the family youâd tried to save would never get to see a sky like this ever again (or any sky for that matter). It poured salt into the wound when you spied two young children running around, laughing, as their mother playfully chased after them, smiling wide. You hoped they would stay as happy as they were in this moment and that they would never know the horrors that you knew all too well, that they would never know what existed in the shadows of this world around them, just waiting to gobble them up and snuff them out.
âYouâre not injured,â Ana determined, her penetrative gaze still roaming over you. âNot physically at least.â
Your eyes flickered to hers and you gave her a look, but you didnât say anything before you turned back to the sunset.   Â
You felt her hand begin to cover yours and you moved it quickly away, shifting uncomfortably in your seat. âAnaâŚâ
âY/N.â She sounded completely unfazed by your pulling away, so much so that you turned to look at her. She was focused on you, her eyes never moving from yours, as she reached out to you. âLet me help,â she urged.
âAna, I donât thinkââ
She huffed out an impatient breath. âThatâs your problem. Stop thinking.â She slid closer to you in the bucket seat and her hands framed your face. âLet me help you,â she murmured before leaning in and placing her lips over yours.
As expected, a warm tingly feeling shot through you from where her lips and hands connected to your skin. It was almost like that warm feeling you get in your gut after taking your first shot of liquor that feels like fanning an ember back into a slow-building flame. Though this particular warmth was now throughout every single inch of your body, touching every single cell of your existence. And it grew and grew until a huge wave of warm and light washed over you. Once it did, your head slowly fell back against the headrest and a bright blue-white haze covered your vision. You could see Ana smiling down at you, from her perch on your lap that she had somehow moved into during the kiss. She looked even more beautiful in this light though you still couldnât see past the face of Jo to Anaâs true form. That disappointed you a little though you expected it. She had told you some time ago that you would never be able to see it, that it was dangerous to humans if they tried and could even prove fatal. It still didnât mean you didnât want to see a glimpse of it though someday. You had no idea why you wanted to see it; you just did.
Ana moved some loose strands of hair out of your face. âThere. Feel better?â
âMmm.â You slowly closed your eyes, enjoying the feelings coursing through you. âMuch.â It was true. You felt like you could jump out of the truck and go run a 5K or climb the highest mountain without having to take one single break. You even felt like you could swim the English Channel. It was amazing what a little angelic grace could do to the human body.
âGood.â She laid her hands against your cheeks and forced your gaze up to meet hers. You noticed that she was inches from your lips again. âNow, take me somewhere nice.â
The nicest place ended up being a motel on the edge of town (the best room they had of course, one that the clerk assured Ana was cleaned regularly while he looked clearly annoyed that she had the nerve to ask) where you holed up for the next day or so. It was a blur of moans, tender caresses, and grace injections as youâd come to refer to them. Each time you were about to crash, Ana would take your angel blade and cut a tiny slice on the skin of her neck that immediately glowed bluish-white. You loved it when she did that because you would latch your lips to that spot and consume the little bit of grace you could get before the wound closed, and she would arch her back before prettily moaning into your ear, gently holding the back of your head to that spot.
You werenât a grace junkie as Ana liked to call you sometimes but you couldnât deny that when she offered up trace amounts of grace like this, especially when you needed a boost, you absolutely took it. In your line of work, with what youâd see on the daily, how could you not take it when offered? The thin thread youâd been hanging on now felt as if it wouldnât snap so easily, like it had been fortified in steel or something. But at the same time, you hated yourself for allowing the energy into your system, allowing her to be the one to feed it to you, though you would never take it from any other angel.
One of the rare moments in between injections, Ana was laying next to you, holding herself up by her elbow, her head in her hand as she studied you. You were on your back, staring up at the ceiling.
âFeel like talking about it now?â
You briefly glanced over at her, huffing a laugh, as you folded an arm behind your head. âIs that what this was all about? Getting me to talk about it?â
âYou were in pain,â she defended.
Your eyes met hers and you could see the tender concern behind them. It always caught you off guard, the genuine care she seemed to have for you. That certainly hadnât been the case when you two first met. It seemed like a lifetime ago when youâd held an angel blade to her throat, demanding to know where a certain rogue angel was located. And now, here you wereâŚin this very weird space otherwise known as your working relationship.
You supposed she was right; you had been in pain, in a way. You turned your head to stare back up at the ceiling, not wanting to look at Ana for this part. âIt was a Rugaru. It got to a family before we could stop it.â You briefly squeezed your eyes shut, not wanting those images to come back. âIt was feeding on the two small kids when we got there. The parents were already gone. The screams, AnaâŚâ You shook your head. âWe killed it right there. But, um, it was too late for the kids.â You wiped a stray tear that had made its way down your cheek. âThey hadnât even made it to double digits yet.â You clenched your jaw. âWe should have figured it out and gotten there sooner.â
Ana tenderly brushed hair away from your face. âIt wasnât your fault.â
âYeah, it is,â you whispered. âAny other hunter would have picked up on what they were dealing with and saved that family.â
âOkay, first off, thatâs not true. Second, you were not the only hunter there. And third, whoâs to say if other hunters had been in your place that they would have been able to save the family?â
âThey wouldâve. Had it been the Winchesters, they definitely wouldâve.â
Ana gripped your chin and turned you to look at her. âDonât do this to yourself. The monster killed that family, not you. And you put an end to it so it will never hurt anyone again. You hunters do more for this flawed world in a week than most people do in their lifetimes. You do more than angels or Heaven or God himself even. You put your life on the line every single day to help people youâve never met before, to keep them safe. You stand in between them and the monsters. You donât get paid, you hardly get any thanks, you see some of the worst things that most humans will never see, and yet, you still continue to do it.â
âIsnât that the job? Saving people, hunting things?â You teased.
She frowned down at you. âDonât do that. Donât make light of what Iâm saying because you feel uncomfortable.â
âIâm not,â you insisted. âI justâŚâ You threw up a hand, shaking your head.
Her expression softened and she stroked your cheek. âYouâre a good person, Y/N, and a good hunter. Donât ever doubt yourself. You canât save everyone though you try. By killing that monster, you saved many families. Donât forget that.â
You pressed your lips together and dropped your gaze. You knew she meant well and she was right, you couldnât save everyone, but it still was going to take you some time to get past this one. You werenât the only one feeling that way, either. You werenât entirely sure if all of the hunters in your group would be coming back, two individuals in particular. Theyâd been the ones to tend to the kids and hold them as they died while you and the others took down the Rugaru. You couldnât blame them if they decided to hang it up after this.
Ana gripped your chin a little tighter, making your eyes dart up to her face, and you watched as she studied you, appearing to be contemplating something. Before you could ask what she was thinking, she slowly leaned down and pressed her lips to yours. This time, though, you didnât feel any grace coursing through your skin.Â
She pulled away after a few moments and you stared up at her in confusion. Giving you a tender smile, she trailed her finger along your jawline. âI like you, Y/N. Youâre one of the better humans Iâve met since Iâve been down here.â
âYou like me?â You asked in disbelief.
âDoes that surprise you?â
âUm, yeah? I thought you couldnât stand me most of the time.â
âNot most of the time, just sometimes. I certainly can stomach you more than any other human.â
âWow. I feel special.âÂ
âYou should.â She ran her finger down the bridge of your nose to the tip. âDo you think I go around giving my grace to just anyone?â
âWell, there was Lucifer.â
âThat was different,â she snapped.
âYou heal a lot of people, which Iâm all for by the way.â
She leaned back in. âBut they donât get it directly from the source and they donât get the perks I give you,â she finished right above your lips before kissing you again. This time, you could feel grace being infused into your skin and running rampant through your system. When she broke away from you, you opened your eyes to find that familiar bluish-white haze covering your vision. It was like seeing in 20/20 vision, only a hundred thousand times better.
Ana ran a finger along your lips and as always, you could feel the touch that much more, sending tingles through your body. Glancing up at her, you started thinking about other touches and how they would feel magnified like this. Then you remembered what some people usually did to feel alive again after seeing death and how fleeting life could be.
Within seconds, you were sitting up and you grabbed her and moved her to your lap, very aware that she had let you do it. You saw her smirking down at you as she framed your face with your hands.
âYou know, you say you like me but Iâm wondering just how much.â
âOh really?â
âI think we should find out.â You yanked her closer against you and she shook her head, smirking even wider. You tugged the back of her hair, forcing her to arch her neck and she let out a tiny gasp. You knew it was more for theatrical effect than anything else.Â
âDonât forget, this is Mulberry silk,â she warned you. âYou get blood on it, Iâll kill you, no matter if I like you.â
You used your free hand to place a finger to her lips. âYouâre talking way too much. All I want to hear out of this mouth right now are the pretty sounds you make or you begging me for more.â Normally, unless you were in the bedroom you didnât talk like this, but you could feel the grace fueling everything deep within you, even your ego.
âI wonât be begging.â
âYou will,â you whispered into her ear before nibbling on the lobe. âIâll make sure of it.âÂ
You grabbed the angel blade and created a tiny slice in her skin, seeing the grace peeking out at you from within. Ana placed her hands on your shoulders but she didnât resist as you swiped your tongue over the wound. âI hate you,â she finished in a moan.
You huffed out a laugh when you felt her pull you closer, her fingers winding into your hair to hold you to her. âYou have a weird way of showing that.â You dropped the angel blade on the floor and moved in for the kill.Â
You had been right; not only did you get Ana to beg, you felt everything a hundred million times more than you normally would. And she had been right; not only did she like you, the shattered glass littering the room and the car horns blaring outside when you were finished proved just how much.Â
You licked your lips nervously as you parked the pickup, your body having returned to its normal state less than an hour ago. âListen,â you started. âThat was a one time thing.â
Ana turned a smirk onto you, knowing full well how this little back and forth went between you afterwards. âNo. It wasnât.â
âYeah, it was.â
She turned in her seat to fully face you, laying a hand on your shoulder. âIt wasnât the last few times it happened and it wonât be the next few times. Not to mention we have another motel we nearly destroyed.â She squeezed your shoulder. âI know you donât want to admit it to yourself, but you like me, too.â
Your jaw tightened and you glared at her, but kept quiet.Â
She leaned in and you didnât stop her when she kissed you, no grace involved this time. âNow, you go enjoy your well-deserved break from hunting. Me? Iâve got some business to take care of.â She inclined her head towards the church you were dropping her off at, the sign welcoming Sister Jo, the faith healer. âIâll call you when Iâm finished.â
You watched as she got out of the truck and turned back to you, resting her hand on the open window ledge. Her smirk was cocky, knowing, but her eyes appeared a little softer when she trained them on you. âUntil then, Y/N.â She shot you a wink and then walked away.
You watched as she made her way into the church. You thought over what she said. Yeah, you liked her, but you werenât about to admit that to her. It didnât matter if she admitted it to you first. She was still an angel, a fallen angel who lied when it suited her and money was the name of the game for her. At least on the outside. But the Ana youâd gotten to know over the last year, ever since youâd crossed her path in your quest for revenge against one of her fallen brothers who had murdered your hunting partnerâŚshe was different and she was who you liked. You just wishedâŚwell, that things could be different. That she wasnât an angel and that you could have met some other way. But no matter what you wished, this was your reality and there was no changing it. Ana was an angel and you were having whatever this was with one. If your old hunting partner could see you nowâŚ
You shook that thought out of your head and started the pickup, driving away from the church, headed back to your place. You told yourself for the millionth time that the next time Ana called you, you wouldnât pick up. But a part of you knew that you would, and this scenario would play out again, as it had many times before. You knew she was right and you hated her for that. The disappointment you felt at yourself knew no bounds.Â
You switched on the radio, picking a familiar song and choosing to get lost in the music instead of your thoughts. Until then.

Wait why do you not like Gabriel? Also thoughts on that scenario otherwise?
so the list of reasons i dislike gabriel is incredibly petty, almost entirely unrelated to the text of the show, and mostly about my experience of the fandom in 2013. i actually like gabriel in his role in the show (or at least, in the kripke era; his appearance in meta fiction when it could have been anyone else makes me pop a vein, and i don't care one way or the other about his late season reappearance, though i think it's immensely funny that it happened).
let's start:
the specter of sabriel hangs heavy over any mention of that horrid little man. and like, sabriel is funny now, like, enjoying it ironically is funny and i occasionally participated, but it was fucking ubiquitous back in the day and you have no idea how annoying it was. i hated it so much
the way people relate him to castiel is so fucking stupid it makes me chomp and bite and kill. like the fact that gabriel is the angel that people choose to deepen cas' relationship with, like, to make them family, is so fucking stupid. you could use any other angel. anna or uriel or balthazar or fucking rachel. michael! lucifer! and then as the show moves on like, dozens more. hannah or benjamin or akobel or anael or or or or or. i feel a similar way about him as i do about samandriel, though i have less vitriol towards' gabriel's canon portrayal
anything gabriel can do in your au, crowley or balthazar could do better. and 90% of your canon fics too
actually re: that last point, i feel like part of my resentment of gabriel as a character is because i'm a balthgirl and i'm resentful
also a crowleygirl
soooooo many fics where the plot is "gabriel did something to dean and cas to make them get together" and like that can be fun but like it sucks most of the time. 1) it's literally the laziest possible writing. "there's a super powerful guy and he shares my authorial narrative goals" fuck off. 2) shipper on deck is maybe my least favorite fanfiction trope ever ever ever i think all shipper on deck fics should be purged and expunged from the internet. if gabriel is fucking with them for his own reasons and it just so HAPPENS to get dean and cas together, that's fine. if them getting together is an intermediate step in a larger plan, that's fine. but gabriel just wanting them to get together is like fuckyoufuckyoufuckyoufuckyoufuckyou
sp8 directed 12x12 and 15x18 and for that i will someday push him into oncoming traffic

Thereâs a midam AU idea thatâs been living in the back of my mind for months now, but itâs been slow going. Mainly because I suspect that doing the idea justice is going to mean doing more research than Iâm used to, and maybe even rewatching the series proper to help me fill in some of the weak spots, and I have so many other story ideas that are frankly just easier to work on, two of which are already slated to be multi-chapter works. . . But Iâm in the mood to type up something longwinded, so here we go. Keep reading if youâd like to see a rough outline of the first few chapters of this story I really hope to write out properly sometime.
(Warning, this is a long one.)
So, this story is loosely based on the Hundred Years War that took place between England and France from 1337-1453. But itâs only very loosely inspired. Very, very loosely. As in, I was reading a book, I read about one thing that happened, it germinated in my head, and then suddenly I had a plot developing that featured my current favorite ship. Additional sources of inspiration include one of my favorite fantasy series, and a personally beloved trashy romance novel. Because itâs fanfiction, folks. There are no rules here.
Of course, in this AU, the entire world is going to be made up, with neither side of the war distinctly being assigned the role of England or Franceâor Flanders or Burgundy, for that matter. I barrowed an inciting incident, and few smaller details from history to help things along here and there, but with no regard for keeping all the French things assigned to one group and the English ones to another.
That said, the inciting incident took its inspiration from the Battle of Poiters, a conflict during which England not only won against the French, but also took their king hostage. King Jean II was later ransomed back to his people, but at a sum that was so high, France could not afford to pay it all at once. England still returned Franceâs king, but new hostages were provided to serve as collateral during the interim, including the Kingâs son.
So. . .crown Prince Michael Shurley completely decimates King John Winchester on the battlefield, and sends his demands to Johnâs queen, Mary Winchester. The two kingdoms have been locked in a territory dispute for several decades, and this is one of the more humiliating events to befall the smaller kingdom yet, especially since they are unable to meet all of Michaelâs demands. When the Winchesters begrudgingly admit this to the Shurley representatives, theyâre caught off guard when theyâre offered a trade: John Winchester will be returned, so long Dean Winchester takes his place as collateral.
Things are less than stable in the Winchester kingdom however, with more than a few factions quietly scheming for power. John and Mary were an arranged marriage that was originally held up like a fairytale when the two seemingly fell madly in love during their mandated courtship, but the years afterward had changed them. Civil unrest sparked by the war had brought out a lot of disagreements between the Winchesters and the Campbells and their approaches to governing.
Johnâs supporters are the ones to step forward with a plan, and convince Mary that itâs vitally important the people are not alarmed by their kingâs capture. Mary initially finds it distasteful, but itâs talked around and adjusted and reframed, as Johnâs people ferret out more and more information about the vital party involved, until she finally agrees.
Because John Winchester just happened to have a bastard son. The resemblance to Dean might not be particularly remarkable, but no one at the Shurley court has ever seen the Winchester heir before. Plus, Adam Milligan has spent the entirety of his teen years studying to become a physician, of all things. Heâs perfect for their purposes.Â
Ten years prior, the Shurley court had had to deal with its own bout of civil unrest, when King Chuck Shurleyâs second eldest son had attempted to overthrow him with the support of several nobles from one the kingdomâs richest providences. Lucifer had allegedly been driven into exile following his defeat, and Chuck had been said to have contracted some sort of mysterious illness. According to rumors, the king had shut himself up in his private chambers and refused to admit anyone apart from his remaining children. Even servants were barred from tending him directly.
They snatch Adam away from his studies and force him into compliance by dusting off an archaic law left over from before the start of the war, when the kingdom relied on a conscription military force rather than a standing army full of career military professionalsâthis law empowering the crown to call on any of its citizens for a minimum forty days of military service per year. They tell Adam that his mission seems more dangerous than it isâreally, all he has to do is pretend to be Dean, and use his medical knowledge to figure out exactly what mysterious illness has bedridden the enemy monarch.
Sam and Deanâthe proverbial heir and spare of the kingdomâare not at court to meet their younger brother, when heâs hastily fitted for a royal wardrobe and put through a crash course on court etiquette. Sam is very publicly put on display at a holiday festival in another part of the kingdom, while Dean is sent orders to quietly stay behind at a country estate while his valet, Kevin Tran, is sent on to court. Neither of the princes is told about the plan until after Adam has already been shipped out, with Kevin in toe to help Adam along with the impersonation.
No one involved is in anyway comfortable with the mission. But it was only supposed to be for forty days. Adam was assured that the necessary funds to pay off the ransom would either be raised by the end of the minimum mandated service, or they would make contact to extract him. The Campbells and the Winchesters both allegedly had spies in the Shurley court, and they would make themselves known when the time was right.
Adam is given the impression that the latter had been told to him with the intention of making him feel safer. It did not work.
Heâs terrified when he arrivesâalmost would have preferred being promptly thrown into a dungeon upon arrival, instead of a room full of foreign nobility who one and all give off the impression that if cut theyâd bleed straight silver, and look at âDean,â the hostage prince and purported military genius from the tiny, vicious country across the channel, as a curiosity to be studied. Heâs assigned two guards (who I decided will be Anael and Samandriel, based entirely on the tags I threw together at then end of this post, during which I decided that I love these three together), who follow him around relentlessly, but beyond that, heâs. . .pretty much treated like a guest. If a stiflingly monitored one. There are limitations on where he can go and what he can do, but for the most part heâs just sort of. . .there.
Most unnerving of all, however, is the small package that Adam finds in his room when he first settles in. Kevin swears he has no idea who left it. It has the Campbellâs insignia clearly worked into the pattern of the paper itâs wrapped in, and inside he finds a knife small enough to conceal on his person, and a number of different herbs and powders that he recognizes from his studiesâthough of course, heâs more familiar with remedies to counteract their effects.
In other words, he finds an assassinâs-first-kill-job kit, and instructions on how and when to use it, if opportunity arises. This had not been part of the deal when Adam reluctantly signed on.
Unbeknownst to Adam howeverâthough suspected by some parties in the Winchester courtâAdam cannot assassinate Chuck Shurley, because Chuck is not there. Shortly after Luciferâs insurrection, Chuck had quietly disappeared. Michael had only been a teenager at the time. He invented the story about Chuck being ill on impulse, certain that Chuck would be back sooner than later, and Raphael had gone along with it because, being twelve years old, Raphael was not yet old enough to question Michaelâs judgement. It is now an awkward point between them.
Adam soon becomes another.
Michael regularly checks in to see how Adamâs getting on, in a way that Kevin assures Adam is entirely appropriate, since Michael is under the impression that Adam is going to be a fellow monarch someday, and is likely trying to be courteous. Adam inherently feels somewhat flustered around Michael though, which is not helped by the fact that Michael is somehow always present whenever Adam puts his foot in his mouth socially. On more than one occasion, heâs thankful that almost no one has actually been to his homeland, allowing Adam to blame an astonishing number of fuck ups on cultural differences.
Michael and Adamâs early one on one interaction are intensely awkward. Adam will forget to wear gloves, and then Michael will comment that Adamâs hands are oddly devoid of callouses for someone whoâd practically been raised with a sword in his hand, leaving Adam to scramble for some flimsy excuse about hand cream. Adam will inquisitively ask questions about what sort of illness would be severe enough to leave someone bedridden for a decade but not kill them in that time (Kevin frantically motioning over Michaelâs shoulder to convey that that is NOT the right way to fish for details on such a sensitive subject), and Michael will struggle to find an excuse around the quietly bubbling panic, because he hasnât had to try to explain anything about his father since that first year, and he is not a particularly gifted liar. Â
And then thereâs Raphael.
Unlike Michael, Raphael is suspicious of âDeanâ right from the start, pulling Michael aside to point out things that donât seem quite right according to what their informants have told them about Dean Winchester.
âDoesnât he look a bit young?â
âSome people look younger than they are, Raphael.â
âI was told Dean Winchester had dark hair.â
âDark blond is dark.â
âArenât his eyes supposed to be green?â
âTheyâre obviously blue.â
âThatâs exactly my point.â
The forty days come and go with Adam and Kevin nervously waiting for some sort of sign from home. Roughly two weeks later, a messenger arrives with unexpected news for Michaelâs court: the Campbells have officially broken ties with the Winchesters in a violent bid for power that has left the kingdom at war with itself.
According to Kevin, the civil war has probably slowed things down a bit, if itâs as bad as the rumors say. . .
Adam and Kevin are stranded.
âDonât worry thoughâI know Dean, and he knows our necks are on the line. Heâll keep out of sight until they manage to get us out of here.â
Adam finds it difficult to put faith in the virtues of a brother heâs never met, but doesnât have it in him to question Kevinâs faith. He worries about his mother, who might have been safe in the countryside, but also might have made the trek to the capitol when it came out that Adam had been abducted for the sake of persevering the royal family's throne. He canât be sure.
And to top it off, Michael takes to stopping by Adamâs room every couple of days to privately talk about the movements of the various factionsâwho has been sighted where and in what condition, where theyâre rumored to be headed. Adam interprets it as an attempt to shake out inside information. One day, Adam finally tries to set him straight by saying it doesnât matter how many ugly details Michael throws at him, Adam canât help him because he doesnât know anythingâand is promptly put to shame when Michael looks at him in surprise and says, âYou misunderstand. I assumed that you would want to know these things, because they are your family.â
Michael leaves, and Adamâs guards exchange a look. When asked, Samandriel awkwardly tells Adam that the royal family used to have a fourth child. Gabriel. He was lost during Luciferâs insurrection. Pirates overtook his ship. Theyâd never received a ransom. Michael had purportedly offered a standing reward for any news of Gabriel, and put an unwise amount of resources into searching for him until it threatened the war effort.
Adam and Michael start talking more frequently from there, starting with an apology on Adamâs part. Itâs tricky at first, because Michael starts out asking questions about Dean Winchester's military exploitsâit is the most likely common ground between them, after allâand Adam has to hastily change the subject every time. By the two month mark, theyâre talking affably, and rumors start to circulate through the courts as Michael's routine check ins on Adam start getting less formal and more frequent.
On the four month mark, rumors get even worse. Raphael finally sits Michael down and really gets into all of the things about âDeanâ that donât add up, item by item. If heâs trying to pretend he doesnât know anything about his countryâs military exploits, heâs far too convincing given his reported record, and Raphael has it on good authority that more than half of those âcultural differencesâ in etiquette that keep cropping up are completely unfoundedâand look here, three different informants have sent lists of Dean Winchesterâs physical characteristics, and the foreign prince DOES NOT MATCH.
âMichael, something is not right here.â
âFine, Iâll talk to him about it now.â
And Michael storms off to address âDean,â while Raphael calls after him that he should wait until morning. Because it is the middle of the night.
Adam just happens to be up reading. Michaelâs familiar with the book. Michael gets distracted, and they talk all night. The sunâs coming up when Michael finally leaves, and a servant happens to see him slipping out of Adamâs room. Suggestive conjectures promptly follow, and Raphael exasperatedly admits they only have themself to blame.
And this only gets worse, because now Adam and Michael have transitioned into being friends. No more guarded conversations where one is convinced the other is about to catch them in some sort of lie. When Raphael mentions that some of the lesser nobles are starting to think Michael and Adam are courting, Michaelâs fidgeting is not at all lost on them, as Michael assures them that of course that isn't the case. He and Dean are merely establishing friendly relations that will serve them well down the road politicallyâ
âAfter the war is over?â
âOf course, after the war is over.â
Adamâs been stranded in the Shurley court for almost a year by the time that he finally slips into his room and sees a sealed message set out on his bed. Adam doesnât recognize the insignia as belonging to either the Winchesters or the Campbells, but itâs signed with the initials âSWâ at the bottom. It mostly contains a lot of vague phrases that make Adam wonder if he was supposed to be versed in some sort of code. As far as heâs concerned, the only important information comes at the end: Kate Milligan has been safely relocated for the duration of the civil war.
Relieved, Adam goes down to dinner, where some sort of seasonal holiday is being celebrated, and has a bit more wine than he normally would. The Shurley court is one of those stuffy courts where seating is stiffly dictated by tradition. As a foreign prince, Adamâs assigned seat is at the same table as Michael, although, according to Kevin, his placement's much further down due to his being a hostage. After a few drinks, and after most of the nobles have cleared off from the table to talk and celebrate elsewhere in the hall, Adam sees no reason not to get up and relocate down the line of chairs to sit closer to Michael. It was against the rules, but Adam was aware enough not to sit in Raphaelâs empty seat, and heâd been seen with Michael so often that Anael and Samandriel barely even blinked, because Adam obviously wasnât about to attack their prince or anything.
However, it is worth noting that while talking to Adam, Michael consumes a decent amount more wine than he would normally have as well.
Later that night, Michaelâs walking Adam back to his room, and he starts to comment that Adam seems happier than usual. But even when sober, Michael would struggle to say something like thatâif heâd even attempt it while soberâand Adam winds up biting his lip as he watches Michaelâs mounting embarrassment, as a simple compliment inexplicably morphsâwords seemingly forcing their way out as Michael tries and utterly fails to stop themâinto a compliment about how Adam is beautifulâthat is, heâs always beautifulâthat is, Michael canât help noticing Adam most daysâthat is. . .
. . .Michael is adorable. And in a moment of pure, thoughtless impulse, Adam leans in and kisses Michael right there in the corridor.
Michael is profoundly shocked, and his reaction delayed. Adam had only gone in intending to briefly press his lips against Michaelâs, but as heâs pulling away Michael abruptly leans in and reseals the kiss, and Adam in turn takes that as an invitation to pull Michael closer. And a few minutes later, Raphael happens to walk down the hallway and find the two of them enthusiastically kissing against the wall.
And Raphael promptly turns around and goes back the way they came, only stopping at one point to flag down a servant and order them not to let anyone else walk down that particular corridor for at least an hour, hoping that Michael and Adamâs âfriendly relationsâ wouldnât result in anything too inappropriate.
As it happens, nothing particularly inappropriate happens. Nonetheless, Michael still wakes up the next morning, fully clothed in his own bed, in panic because the first thought to distinctly make its way through the ungodly pain in his head is that heâd taken liberties with a guest the night before. The heir to a foreign power at that, a peer, a hostage! Michael never thought he was capable of something so dishonorable--heâd had Dean pressed up against the wall as if they were a couple of ill-bred urchins, and how does one even go about apologizing for something like that?
(Of course, if Michael were thinking clearly, he might have remembered that Adam had actually been the one to back himself up against the wall, with Michael obligingly following along, quite malleable to whatever positioning Adam wanted so long as Adam kept kissing him.)
Michaelâs behavior was beyond unacceptable. If his father hadnât already abandoned them, heâd likely disown Michael out of pure shame. There was no telling what kind of damage heâd done to the relationship between their kingdoms. At best, Michaelâs uncouth actions would be a dirty secret between them in the years to come, after Dean married, and Michael was left barely able to look Deanâs spouse in the eye. If Michael were a lesser noble, his parents might demand he married Dean outright.
And suddenly Michael sat up in bed, realizing he could marry Dean. His mind begins racing, because of course he could marry Dean! It made perfect sense. They enjoyed each otherâs company, and with both of them being heir to their respective kingdoms, their union would effectively end the war. It might be complicatedâespecially given some of the odd customs Dean had introduced to Michaelâs courtâbut marriages had been used to cemented alliances often enough, and the thought of marrying Dean elicited a curiously hot feeling in Michaelâs stomach, remembering the way Adam had pulled him close the night before.
(Fun fact, England and France actually did try to do this with the Treaty of Troyes in 1420; it did not go as planned.)
Michael goes through the rest of his day in an uncharacteristically upbeat mindset, because now it all seems to just be a matter of organizing things, and he is good at organizing. He would have to write to either John or Mary Winchester as soon as the situation in their kingdom settled, and formally ask for Deanâs hand, and he and Dean should have a chaperone present at all times moving forward to avoid scandal--though there would be no way to sidestep scandal altogether, of course. Adam was still technically Michaelâs prisoner.Â
More than likely, the Winchesters or Campbells would demand Michael relinquish his claim to at least half of the territories that theyâd spent the last few decades fighting over, but that would be fine. Itâs traditional in Michaelâs country to give gifts to oneâs in-laws, and Dean is a future monarch. Anything too little would be insulting, and all would be consolidated eventually when Dean and Michael assumed their respective thrones. . .
Michael is still walking around delightfully living in his own head when Raphael pulls him into an empty room to discuss what they witnessed the night before. While not the most shocking scenario they could have imagined, they were not expecting to hear their brother announce that he and Dean Winchester would be getting married.
âAnd how are we to explain away our fatherâs absence during the proceedings, Michael?â
Michaelâs good mood promptly withers. Because of course Chuck would be expected to play some part in arranging his sonâs wedding. Ill or not, at the very least, he would be expected to make an appearance at the wedding. To have no part in it at all would be suspicious, not to mention rude.
While Raphael intended to snap Michael back to his senses, they had not meant to shake Michael into an immediate depression. They try for a gentler tone.
âYou know, Michael. Our father has been gone for over a decade. He left no formal plans, he's sent no word. By any standard, he's abdicated. Perhaps this isnât the right time to introduce a political marriage. Perhaps we should consider your assuming the kingship, and then come back around to formalizing your relationship with Deanââ
Michael, of course, is against this. Because their father is alive, and he will come back, and it will not be to find that another one of his sons had greedily tried to usurp the throne.
Seeing Michael about to fall back onto a familiar tangent, Raphael chooses the lesser of two evils and takes the conversation back to âDean.â They ask which out of the two of them proposed to the other.
Michael abruptly realizes that he's forgotten something.
Meanwhile, Adam starts his morning on a much happier note. His headache is less punishing than Michaelâs, and while feeling the normal amount of embarrassment that comes with drinking a little too much, the feeling does not extend to kissing Michael. His motherâs safe, heâs nailing his Dean impression, and Michael apparently likes him. Things could not be better. Until Adam remembers how the latter two items on that list are linked.
Michael is not like a classmate back home, who he could chat up, get a drink with, and maybe start seeing regularly if all things went well. Michael is, in fact, the acting ruler of one of the most powerful countries in the world, which just so happens to be at war with Adamâs, and under the explicit impression that Adam is similarly situated in the world.
Adam promptly begins freaking out.
And then Michael finds him.
Adamâs in the library at the time. Michael walks in and quietly dismisses Adamâs guards, and Kevin, leaving the two of them completely alone. Adam doesnât realize what Michaelâs doing right away, though heâs spent enough time with Michael to recognize how nervous he is as he starts talking about a proposal to end the warâselling the idea, as if Michael wouldnât be enough on his ownâand then sheepishly tapering into the idea that both he and Adam seem to have feelings for one another. And if Adam were able to go back in time and strangle his tipsy past self, he would, because then he wouldnât have to see the look on Michaelâs face when he says no.
And no, Michael does not understand.
Adam can hear years of living in the public eye at work in Michael voice, as he just manages to keep his voice level in asking, âEven if it would mean peace?â
"I'm sorry, I justâI can't."
". . .I see."
Michael excuses himself, and Adam collapses onto a couch, assuring himself that no was the only right answer, and he shouldnât feel terribleâwhich, of course, since Adamâs spent the last couple of months flirting with Michael while posing as someone else, is not an easy idea to buy into.
Michael and Adam avoid eye contact at dinner, even as Raphaelâwho has zero doubts as to who initiated what the night beforeâpractically burns holes into Adamâs skin with the looks they shoot down the table.
And then a messenger comes in. One of the wealthiest duchies in the kingdom (the same one that had once supported Lucifer, and of course would be populated with demon characters in the narrative) has declared its independence, having formed an alliance with the Campbells, and has launched an attack not far from the castle. Several villages have already been attacked along the way. Michael accompanies the armed forces he sends out to quash the uprising.
Raphael is left behind to fortify the castle and take in the refugees, who the messenger assured them are not far behind. Unlike Michael, Raphael rarely saw combat. Officially, it was because Raphael had adamantly insisted on training as a healer rather than a warrior, which was true enough. Unofficially though, Michael and Raphael are both fully aware that if anything happened to Michael, Raphael is the only one left to inherent the crown.
Samandirel and Anael escort Adam back to his room. Samandriel assures Adam that no one thinks he had anything to do with the duchy double crossing them, but it would probably just be safer for Adam to stay out of sight until things calm down. Anael is more closed-lipped about the situation.
From his window, Adam watches the first of the villagers come trickling in, and even from his vantage point he can make out burn wounds, makeshift bandages and hastily thrown together tourniquets, and heâs in hell, because it seems the only two options in front of him are to worry about Michael, or feel absolutely sick with guilt because heâs a trained physician and he should be down there helping.
Finally he pokes his head out into the corridor and asks if someone can find Kevin for him. Anael raises an eyebrow that âDean,â whoâs usually inordinately self-suffice for a prince, is suddenly insisting that he needs to see his manservant, but Samandriel is already helpfully heading down the hall. A few minutes later, Kevin is in Adamâs room, confused, as Adam asks him to take off his clothes.
âYou can have mine, just switch with me, okay?â
âUuh. . . Donât you think mine will be a little tight on youââ
âLess talk! Strip!â
Michael had probably errored in assigning the same two guards to watch over Adam. After a year, the three of them had gotten to be on fairly familiar terms. Adam waited until Samandriel started to get chatty, and slipped quietly out of his room when Anael was distractedâneither of them having had any reason to think Adam would try to escape, because he had been nothing but compliant since the day he arrived.
From there, he goes straight to the infirmary.
Raphael had set up tents in the courtyard to accommodate the high number of people in need of care. Adam was a year out of practice, but the atmosphere was still familiar to him, and he slipped into the chaos unnoticed. Raphael doesnât notice him until they are well into the thick of things, and Adamâs as covered in grime and gore as anyone else present. Adam had just gone for more bandages and the two of them nearly ran into each other, and for a split second Adam thinks Raphael just might not recognize him until hand closes around his arm like a vice.
âWhat exactly are YOU doing here?â
Then Raphael notices the stitches Adam had just finished putting in for his latest patientâand Adamâs stitchwork is immaculate, not the clumsy, half-hazard work of a solider who picked up the mechanics of it over the course of their career.
"YOU did that?"
Adam starts to fumble out an answer, but they are interrupted because then Michael is being brought in. The fighting is over. Raphael and Adam promptly drop everything.
Michael has a concussion. Heâs also been lightly stabbed. You know, just lightly. Needs stitches though. Raphael is adamant that Adam leave immediately, but Michael, who is delirious, sees Adam and absolutely refuses to let Raphael send him away. Raphael winds up patching Michael together while Adamâannoyingly, to Raphaelâis sat next to him, holding Michaelâs hand. Adam winds up sitting next to Michael all night, because itâs the only way to keep Michael from getting up and tearing his stitches like a feverish moron.
Initially, Raphael refuses to leave too, not trusting their brotherâs suspiciously competent love interest, whose family was purportedly allied with the traitors whoâd just attacked their people. There are still more wounded to tend to, however, and Raphael begrudgingly has to step awayâmaking sure to leave orders that a guard be present in the room the entire time that Raphael is gone.
Little does Raphael know, Adam would have lowkey given a limb to have Raphael stay. Michaelâs demeanor is a lot less closed off when heâs feverish and concussed. Shortly after Raphael leaves, Michael starts apologizing for proposing earlier, and Adam feels like heâs been stabbed in the gut. And as heâs lying there, looking at Adamâs hand in his, Michael starts saying things he would not normally blurt outâlike that ending the war was not the main reason he wanted to marry Adam, because the last year has been the best he can remember, and it is entirely due to spending time with Adamâeven if Adam was only there by obligationâand he would do anything to make Adam happy, even if they werenât togetherâand Adam is just stuck there, highkey dying on the inside.
Then Michael sees his face.
"I apologize, youâve already said you do not want to marry me, I should not have brought this upââ
Michael starts to get out of bed completely unconcerned about his stab wounds, and as Adamâs pushing him back down, the words âThatâs not true!â just sort of. . .fly out.
Then Michaelâs suddenly looking at Adam, and his face is suddenly very sober, and Adam can feel his own face turning red.
"That is, I. . ." Adam realizes, suddenly, that heâs fucked. Telling Michael the truth is somehow both the right and wrong thing to do at the same time, and Michael is definitely in no condition to hear it either way. âHow about, if you still want to marry me when all this is over, then Iâll say yes?â
The next morning is a string of stressful events for Adam. Raphael shooed him out of Michael room at dawn, and Adam went straight back to his own. Kevin, Samandriel, and Anael had all been reprimanded for Adamâs escape, with the latter two being replaced as Adamâs guard under Raphaelâs orders. His first interaction with Ishim and Maribel does not bode well for them becoming friends.
When Adam tells Kevin that heâs thinking about coming clean to Michael, Kevin panics. News from the Winchesters had dried up weeks ago, even for Michael and Raphaelâs sources. Kevin argues that theyâd be better off attempting to escape on their own if the charade was getting to be too much for Adam, especially after last nightâbut even then, they should wait awhile longer. Why take any chances right now? And Adam doesnât know how to go about explaining the why. . .
And it gets taken out of his hands anyway, when they step out of the room and find that itâs somehow leaked that Adam and Michaelâwho had completely misunderstood what Adam meant by âwhen all this is overââare engaged.
Kevin doesnât get another moment alone with Adam to discuss how stupidly dangerous this whole situation is, and Adam, no matter how hard he triesâcanât seem to get a moment alone with his fiancĂŠ to try to explain that the situation is not what he thinks it is. Everyone had vastly underestimated how far the rumors about Michael and Adam secretly courting had gone, and Adam can barely take three steps without a noble or courtier or someone pulling him aside to offer their congratulations, and as Adam gets closer to Michaelâs chambers, thereâs Raphael, circling like a shark and Adam does not want to make his confession to Raphael before he sees Michael.
Come dinner time, Adam finds that his seat had been reassigned. He now sits directly to Michaelâs left. He keeps trying to convince Michael to step out into the hall with him for a second, while Raphael, seated in their normal place to Michaelâs right, continuously circumvents him, firmly believing that Adam has done more than enough in private.
Then thereâs a scream. A servant comes running out into the dining hall, carrying a bloody knife. They run up to Michaelâup until the guards step forward to stop her, but sheâs not attacking. Instead she hands over the knife and says that she found in the corridor outside the kingâs chambers. She had been worried, so she broke protocol and went in. The kingâs bed was drenched in blood.
Adam looks over and feels a chill when he recognizes the same knife that had been included in the murder kit he found in his room on day one.
If Raphael had looked up, Adam had no doubt that Raphael would have read something in his face, but they didnât get the chance to. Michael and Raphael are busy staring at each, the only ones in the room who know beyond any doubt that the implication could not be true, because there had not been anyone in that bed to assassinate in over ten years. Neither of them is given the chance to try to spin the knifeâs implications in any direction, however. While the court is still reeling in shocked silence, a guard walks inâcompletely obliviousâand announces that a messenger has arrived with urgent news.
Adam looks up, and finds he has room to panic more, when he sees Anna Milton walk in, a serving maid in the Winchester court, and as she drops a curtsey to Michael, she identifies herself as one of Raphaelâs spies. She had held her place in the Winchester court for as long as she could, but when her real identity had been uncovered sheâd had no choice but to flee, and sheâs come with monumental news. The civil war across the channel has ended, the Campbells having been forced to seek asylum with their allies outside the kingdom, John Winchester deposed, and Dean Winchester installed on the throne in his place. She had witnessed his coronation herself the very day they identified her.
And Adam feels very cold, as if his blood had actually managed to turn into ice, which would have explained why he couldnât seem to move, as every eye in the room immediately turns to him.
And that would be the end of part one.

Rope bonds your ankles to the end of the bed, handcuffs hold your wrists to the headboard, and a ball gag rests comfortably in the middle of your mouth. Youâve been naked and tied up for at least twenty minutes while your girlfriends watch you at the foot of the bed. They can see how much you need them to do something, anything, but they just stand there with smirks on their faces.
âWhat should we do to her?â Ruby asks Anael with a smirk.
âSheâs been such a good girl. I think she deserves a reward.â
You want to moan and squirm underneath their gazes, but you know moving without permission is against the rules. Youâve been such a good girl to them, and you canât wait until you have their hands on you.
âThen letâs give it to her.â
Anael approaches the point where your head is and Ruby slinks up to your feet. She crawls on the bed and presses kisses to your calves, egging you on and teasing you.
âYou know, Ruby just loves the taste of pussy, and Iâve been telling her how sweet you taste,â Anael whispers. Ruby kisses up your legs, inching closer to the place where you crave her the most. âItâs okay, you can moan if you want.â
Ruby reached your inner thighs, and you let out a whimper. If you could move, you'd be angling your hips closer to her face. Ruby smirks and grips your thighs, spreading them to give her better access.
âLook at you, so pretty for us. And weâve barely even touched you,â Ruby chuckles.

Imagine recognizing the faith healer, Sister Jo, as your old friend, Anael.
You sat at the back of the auditorium, staring at her familiar face as she healed a disabled man. Her hands glowed as she placed them in front of his chest and everyone watched in awe. You scoffed as they bought her act; it was ingenious really. Pretend to be human, not an angel, to heal people, and to make money off it. You couldn't believe that she had been here this whole time. You had looked for her for a while after the fall but to no avail. Â
And, God, you couldn't believe she had named herself âSister Joâ. Jo was something you had nicknamed her years ago and you couldn't even remember why at this point. You felt something indescribable when you realised that she had remembered it after all this time.
You watched her with awe; she really hadn't changed a bit. She was still using the same vessel, with those dark eyes and the smile that you never seemed to forget, even if it had been years since you last saw her last, God, you missed her. It was embarrassing how much you missed her.
She had been your best friend, the only other angel you had been close to. You told her everything, including your doubts in your father after it seemed he had left. There was also some underlying feelings that either of you mentioned. You had always wondered what had been. Maybe if you had been together during the fall you could have told her. Maybe you both could have figured out humanity together. Maybe you both of you could have been together...
By the time you had broken free from your thoughts, everyone was filing out of the auditorium. You immediately started to panic. What if Anael didn't want to see you? What if she had completely forgotten about you? You thought it was best to leave and come back another day and so you began to leave. As you were almost at the door you heard a voice from behind you. A voice you'd never thought you'd hear again.
âY/N? Is that actually you?â
Taking a deep breath, you somehow manage to find the courage to turn and to respond.
âHey, Anael. Long time no see.â

Is no one gonna talk about Methuselah? A human that in the bible lived for hundreds of years and that is who Joshua shacked up with. Cause I find that fascinating
Yep yep... I havenât really talked much about anything, Iâve been so busy lately and spoons (and time) for supernatural stuff have dropped... there were 2 weeks after 14x16 and I didnât write a thing. Oops. But yeah yours was a rhetorical question Iâm sure you didnât actually want an answer XD
Iâm actually super excited over reasons I was planning to write a couple posts about but never did :3 story of my life :3 Anyway.
Methuselah in the Bible is the son of Enoch and the grandfather of Noah, who is super present in this seasonâs narrative - not only we got a character called Noah, the Gorgon, but there was a lot of imagery that reminded me of the Ark story around Michael and Dean (the bar in Deanâs mind, the box in the ocean, the last shot of 14x13 with John framed inside the car - the Ark of the Winchester family - while it rains outside...) and now we get the actual Methuselah who, according to the Bible chronology, died in the year of the flood. (Plus, in the Book of Enoch, Enoch basically talks to his son about visions he had, one of which regarding the flood.)
Of course, the Supernatural Methuselah hasnât died, which is interesting - basically, he survived the flood... If the flood is a metaphor, this can be a little message of hope, I suppose? Also, and most importantly, he acts like heâs fine with dying, but his suicidal act is revealed as more of a bluff as soon as Casâ eyes light up.
Iâd suggest that if Dean is Noah, Cas is Methuselah (without the literal grandfather-grandson relationship :p) because Cas has expressed distress in the past over living for so long (not really in a chronological sense, but in the sense of being repeatedly saved/brought back to life by God, something he recalls in the text of the episode himself while talking with Anael). Methuselah says heâs tired of living but then heâs not actually suicidal, âis that what you really wantâ Cas asks and no, itâs not...
Cas doesnât actually want to be put out of his misery, and we know that of course, we know that he doesnât actually want to go to the Empty and exist in nothingness, weâve known ever since he stated it to the Rit Zien, but now we can imagine that the culmination of his arc will be actively embracing wanting to live, really live (with all that entails). Jackâs mercy killing of the snake is reminiscent of the Rit Zien after all, we are watching an exploration of that very issue of Casâ characterization.
He even order pancakes, which he doesnât eat but still he could have just pretended to wait to put an order until his companion had arrived, instead he had already ordered something. Of course itâs not time for him to consume (just like he didnât consume anything in Charming Acres) but pancakes carry the symbology that Metatron placed on them when he experienced humanity...
Also, they were roommates. He made a mean lasagna, says Methuselah about Joshua, and while of course Iâm not saying the two made a fanfiction kind of roommates, the dialogue makes you consider the significance of that language of domesticity. Joshua with the copy of the amulet that Cas borrowed from Dean to find God...
