this is complete insanity on my part because i thought about PIDW!Shang Qinghua a little too much but

he and PIDW!Mu Qingfang were in love. to me.

they never actual got together before og!sqh died but there was mutual pining happening

trust, i spoke to airplane himself (<- guy being delusional about two double fictional characters (characters that are fictional within a factional setting))

Shen Jiu is complicated because technically there is TWO versions, the draft of what PIDW was supposed to be and the actual story, yeah Shen Qingqiu of the OG story sucked, but in the draft and the extras posted it showed how Shang Qinghua [the author] saw him, his interactions with Shen Jiu was telling and from Shangs pov he saw shen jiu as being misunderstood and was innocent in the death of liu qingge because he 'panicked' not saying Shen Jiu is better than Shen Yuan BUT I can't help but think;

If Shen Yuan was a orphan on the street turned abused slave and had to claw his way out and was hurt and had his trust betrayed would he still be soft and caring towards others? Especially those that mocked his cultivation something that was out of his control?

It is sad that Shen Jiu was killed off and everyone was happy especially when there is worse people in the story who get away with literally murder.

Luo Binghe using Cultivators as cualdrons a fate worse than death?

Ning yingying fine with her sect burned to the ground and okay with her martial siblings being killed?

Yue Qingyuan being an enabler knowing how abused disciples were under the hand of Shen Jiu yet did nothing about it and let it continue on?

The whole point of mxtx works is that not EVERYONE is perfect and not EVERYONE is evil. Black and white doesn't exist. These are layered flawed characters and also, we are seeing a biased look on what Shen Jiu as a charcter was supposed to be since airplane lost his outline.

So it's unfair to judge Shen Jiu and say when he had his story he was the reason it fucked up but thats bias as that story was written by airplane for fans who loved the male power fantasy and fanservice. and that story was written by a man who wanted to pay his rent. The Origianl Proud immortal demon way isn't an accurate account of Shen JIu as a character since both his and Tianglang-juns story arcs were cut.

So yeah we have empathy for a character whose life was so stupidly tragic but the worst part is that there's no closure, because everyone believes that Shen Yuan IS shen Jiu.

The tragedy here isn't about Shen Jiu or Shen Yuan- it's the fact that Shen Yuan has to PRETEND, that when Yue Qingyuan told him his reasons for not coming back, Shen Yuan couldn't react as it was too late.

When Meng Mo showed him his past and watched Shen Yuan react, he was pretending. All of those people see him and all of his relationships with them isn't real. Shen Yuan already see's these people as 'characters' as a fake world and the imposter syndrome he'll face is something he's going to have to deal with in his 'happy' ever after along with all of the lies he could never tell Luo Binghe his husband.

And the lack of closure for Shen Jiu is heartbreaking, It was too little too late.

[I know some people aren't a fan of Shen Jiu and I get that, I just can't help but disagree that just because he's a villain doesn't mean others can't look at his story with empathyand feel bad for him- also not saying that Shen Jiu is better/worse than Shen Yuan. Shen Yuan had his own system and went through his own struggles and trials and thats a parallel Shen Jiu.]

i always find it funny when people feel sorry for no one caring that shen jiu got booted out of his body and that everyone liked shen yuan better. as if shen jiu didn’t go out of his way to make literally everyone hate him, he wasn’t “misunderstood” he was actively trying to make people dislike him by being awful. i like shen jius character and do love when ppl explore him in fanon but i’m also unhinged about shen yuan. i take it personally when people like shen jiu better bc i don’t understand how and im not trying to im just bitter

plus shen yuan has all the interesting parts of shen jiu (bitchiness, pettiness, being pretty, wearing green, holding fan) while also not being a genuinely horrible person. he also has the Defining trait in making a character god tier, Loving Luo Binghe
