summary: the one where you somehow travelled into your favourite tv show along with your family. and as you debut in society, you catch the eye of a certain duke.

part ii

shonda rimes was nothing short of a goddess in your eyes for her casting abilities.

you’d been obsessed with the books ever since they came out and the second you’d heard of it being picked up by netflix you screamed so loud your family thought you’d died.

it was the release day of the first season and you had to meditate before watching since your heart was absolutely running hundreds of miles inside.

you’d settled into bed, had your favourite snacks to your side and your emotional support water bottle clutched in your arms as you pressed play.

you’d overestimated the power of meditation to calm you down, and underestimated the power of warm cocoa.

you’d dosed off after the second episode, and you were aware of it as it happened. the sounds of your favourite show lulled you to sleep and you’d never felt happier.

but after a while, you’d realised the sounds never really faded away, they became, stronger?

the sounds of the bickering bridgertons echoed through your head, preventing further sleep.

what the fuck?

as you opened your eyes, you felt, energised.

and as you rolled over you couldn’t believe your eyes.

daphne bridgerton by your side?

“y/n, are you alright?” she questioned as she closed her book, giving her undivided attention towards you.

you reeled your shock back in as you cleared your throat, “uhm, yes, i’m alright. where are we?” daphne smiled at the question, “we’re at my home.”

you nodded as you took it in, you fell asleep last night in your own bed and woke up in your favourite book, great!

this was quite literally the epitome of all of your daydreams and you couldn’t believe it was happening. you took into account that if you were with daphne you were most likely good friends with the bridgertons, you looked down and saw your nightgown, definitely not the same pjs you wore to bed, your hair was in a braid, and-

“since you’re finally awake, let’s get ready. i’ll send the maids in! i’m so excited and nervous for today y/n/n. this is our day!” she gushed as she allowed the maids in.

our day? this most likely meant that this was starting of like the first episode. oh god, you were going to meet everyone. anthony, benedict, violet- oh god you loved violet.

the next hour was a blur, maids everywhere, millions of dresses, hair pieces, jewellery sets and so on. you’d settled on a (obviously) white dress, with a diamond like waist details, puffy sleeves, gold details/flecks around the sleeves, a tiara, bracelets and a sweet yet simple necklace. daphne had on a similar dress, but the details were different and she wore a feather in her hair.

gods, she looked amazing. the two of you stood in the middle of the mirror, clutching eachothers arms as maids touched up your hair. “you look phenomenal sister.” daphne spoke to you admirably. over the hour you realised many things, the two of you had been friends since kids despite your age gap, your mothers being the best of friends and the same for your fathers, and since hers passed the two of your families had only grown closer.

your own family were very well-known amongst the ton. your father, being marquess of anderton, lord y/f/n l/n and your mother, lady y/m/n l/n, and your brothers, eldest son, earl of anderton lord b/n, and lord b/n. then you, the youngest, lady y/n l/n.

your brothers were also best friends with the bridgerton brothers, your eldest and daphnes, your second with benedict and colin due to their shared/similar responsibilities as second/third sons. but they all got along, nothing happened in the bridgerton family without you knowing and nothing happened on yours vice versa.

you all usually visited eachother whenever, living not too far from eachother. your town home being larger than theirs, and anderton being an three hour ride from london, your country estate being much larger. you were wealthy as hell and you loved it. not that you weren’t back home, but obviously nothing like this.

you still couldn’t tell if this was a dream. usually in your dreams nothing seemed as realistic as this, and you had free reign of your body, you controlled your body, nothing odd had happened, no floating unicorns, no random nightmares, nothing. all realistic. and despite your age gap of of roughly four years, yourself and daphne got along well, she at first saw you as a younger sister and soon enough, her best friend.

even if it was a dream you’d take as long as you could here.

as the doors opened yourself and daphne stood proud and happy. the nerves dying down after you reassured one another.

your mother and lady bridgerton stood infront, teary eyed. “our girls! you look-” “breathtaking.” anthony cut his mother off as your families stood, shocked.

daphne squeezed your arm as you walked forwards, you were so relieved to see your family looking all the same, just a change in clothes, and it was odd. everyone looked so- regal! somehow your brothers had cleaned up.

“enough fussing! let’s get going now.” daphne spoke as you all made your way down. “are you going to marry a princes sisters?” hyacinth squealed as you and daphne laughed, “i wish! we do not know who we are marrying yet sweet hyacinth, that’s what the social season is for, to meet people, make friends and to meet the person you’ll marry. soon enough you’ll be in our position and you will have a line of suitors waiting for you.” you answered sweetly as she grinned from ear to ear before it was struck down by george.

“don’t lie to her! the men won’t be lining up to get to her they’ll be running to get away!” he joked as hyacinth gasped, “how dare you?!” she shouted as she chased him down the steps. for some reason this all felt, right. you felt like you belonged here. once you’d gotten past the initial shock everything just came to you so easily. the manner of speech, how to act, what to say etc.

maybe it was due to your constant daydreaming of being here but it was so easy.

“kids slow down please! you will hurt yourselves!” your mothers shouted at the same time. you were all one big family and you loved it. it was like double the love, and whilst the bridgertons may not have had their own father with them any longer, your father did his best. he spent time with the brothers and sisters, giving the support they needed, doing what he can for the children of his best friend, his family.

you had really underestimated the chaos of the bridgerton family.

you were surprised your own mother wasn’t greying in the hair at the constant bickering and fighting. but at the end of the day you knew everyone loved eachother. but right now you wanted to lunge across the carriage to strangle your eldest brother.

“it’s no big deal.”

“you’ll be fine stop fussing.”

“what’re you worrying for.”

as if this wasn’t one of the biggest days of your entire life. you had to make a good impression upon the queen, god knows the gossip in this town else wise would drive you into a hole.

“i am sorry sister, i should do well to remember the seriousness of today, i apologise.” he responded, reaching across to grab your glove-clad hand, squeezing in support.

“we should all remember the seriousness of today. but do not worry, our dear y/n will do well, i believe it wholeheartedly. you are sweet, confident, intelligent, understanding and so much more my daughter. you will find a good husband, someone whom you love preferably. but otherwise a good man, someone deserving of such an amazing woman as you and it doesn’t matter if you do not marry this season either. there is always the next. if you are not ready you should say so now.”

you’d never seen your father so absolutely understanding. you would’ve thought. especially in this day and age that he’d press you to marry but no.

“eloise has postponed her debut has she not? would it be alright for me to do the same? at ten and eight she will debut and so will i. i fear i am still to young, a lot of the others are older and know more than i.”

“no one knows more than you dear sister.” your other brother spoke up with a smile, “besides eloise of course.” he said as you all laughed, “very well then. we do not have to explain ourselves to anyone and i will send forth someone to relay the message to the queens servants and withdraw your announcement card. and i am not against the idea of keeping you caged up with us for another year. the dread!” your father joked as you all laughed.

the debut had gone better than you could’ve wished for. besides a fainting or two, and you having to endure prudences whining and complaining. the queen seemed to favour daphne and you could not have been more thrilled for her. the two of you chatted everyone’s ears of at dinner to the point where you were separated from sitting together, which did nothing as you both spoke from across the table!

at home you were restless.

your room was much larger than your own.

but you loved it nonetheless.

you couldn’t help but continue to think, you hadn’t woken up yet, you’d literally spent an entire day here, and you hadn’t awoken. you’d pinched and slapped yourself which earned you a few strange looks from the maid that you’d forgotten was in the room and nothing. you hadn’t woken up, annoyed at leaving the bridgerton world.

what you were most excited for was to meet more people if you woke up tomorrow. penelope slipped through your fingers due to lady featherington fussing over her, lady danbury hadn’t been seen, you hadn’t been able to visit madame delocroix nor anthony’s opera singer and perhaps the most disappointing of all,

simon.

you had the fattest crush on him, especially after seeing him in the show. if you woke up tomorrow, you were going to make sure to see everyone you’d missed.

and at the top of your list.

a certain duke.

and if you’d known what would happen once you met him you would’ve steered clear of him.

hello dead boys detective people, my teacher's son plays simon and i can confirm that he is aware of you guys (the fandom, the fanart, the fanfic, the 'simon appreciation week') and absolutely LOVES you guys, and absolutely ADORES you guys, and is absolutely over THE MOON for your guys' love for simon

his dad called you guys a cult(affectionate, no i mean like, SO much affection) and is soooooo unbelievably proud of him

We have to say we have also been blown away by Gabriel Drake's professionalism and kindness!

We have been in touch with Gabriel throughout this week via his sweet, kind cousin (thanks, Amy!) -- when we sent him some interview questions to answer, we figured he would write us back some short messages as to not take too much of his time. We were humbled and shocked when he countered back with a whole set of videos for us! (Check them out on our feed, if you haven't seen them!)

I don't know as though he will ever fully understand the impact he has had on many of the lives of the viewers of Dead Boy Detectives.

While Simon is a somewhat divisive character (we mustn't forget, he did sacrifice his crush to a demon and sentenced him to hell because of it; total hate crime material), he is also a symbol of the possibility of growth and forgiveness.

I can say, as the primary moderator of this event, that the scene in episode 7 where Simon and Edwin have met in Hell, and Edwin forgives Simon-- that was a scene that allowed present me (an adult, queer, recently out and figuring it out individual) to forgive past me (a younger, scared, queer, closeted and repressed individual in a community and surrounded by people who would not tolerate queerness) for all the unkindness past me had shown myself, and for all the times of uncertainty and self-doubt that present me continues to battle.

His acting has made a difference in my life. For that, I wish I could give him 100 Appreciation Weeks.

I hope that he will continue to find roles that are meaningful for him, and that he continues to grow into his craft and have a long, healthy career.

How long did Simon and Betty know each other? Timeline

How many years did the stable relationship of Simon Petrikov and Betty Grof last?

Hello, everyone, I bring you this post that is focused on the past of Simon and Betty, in Fionna and Cake we are given more information about their relationship before everything that happened in Ooo.

I have several theories about the dates, which is why I created a timeline.

I filled in some boxes with drawings.

Simon Petrikov & Betty Grof Timeline

1 week

1.The whole story begins when Simon and Betty want to take the same book from the library, but let's not forget that Betty had already been following Dr. Petrikov's work, which is revealed in "Jerry," "I've admired your research for years," which leads us to assume that since she was studying her career, she already knew Dr. Petrikov but only as an author of books. 2. After that, in "Temple to Mars," when they pass the tests, it is revealed that she was planning a trip to Australia to study petroglyphs, and her plane leaves in a week. (This is where she mentions that she left her career for Simon. I consider that she refers to her career not at the moment of the bus but at the moment when Simon looked for her through the Jambo portal in the episode "Betty." This is where Betty's career was cut, I'll explain this further.) 3. She already had the ticket for the trip, but just that week, she attended Dr. Petrikov's lecture, where she expresses to Babette the following: "I touched his hand in the library once." 4. Excited by Dr. Petrikov's lecture, she wants Dr. Petrikov to sign her book. They make comments about a vase, and Dr. Petrikov says it would be very good for her to accompany him on the expedition to search for The Enchiridion. She doesn't think twice and accepts. Dr. Petrikov is surprised but agrees that she can join the trip.

1 month

5. Dr. Petrikov and Betty go on the expedition to search for The Enchiridion. I want to believe that this took them a month, during which they got to know each other better as people. 6. They have fun, and it's clear that Betty is not afraid of anything, and in the end, she doesn't do what Dr. Petrikov says. 7. They return, and the word spreads. Dr. Petrikov wants both to get credit, but Betty doesn't want it. Dr. Petrikov doesn't express himself correctly and tells her that “it's indispensable”, and Betty leaves.

3 weeks

8. A "couple of weeks" pass, which could be calculated as 3 weeks, and Simon reads the note and rushes to Betty. 9. Simon and Betty reveal their mutual feelings, but in doing so, Simon stops Betty from getting on the bus. 10. My favorite scene ❤️

1 year

11. In the episode "Bespoken For," we are shown that they met for lunch at Captain Tasty's, and they used to eat there all the time. They even had a favorite table, and since Simon belonged to the "Book-a-day club," he gave books to Betty because she belonged to the "Book for the bookless" club.

2 years

12. In the episode "Come Along with me," this sweet scene shows that Simon and Betty live together. Simon is reading a book that mentions "GOLB," but he doesn't fully understand it. 13. Betty tells him to stop doing that and suggests they make sundaes. 14. Betty throws a can of cherries at him and accidentally hits him. Here, it's clear that she's concerned, but Simon takes it well, knowing it was an accident.

1 month

15. In the episode "Simon Petrikov," Simon talks about going on an expedition to the Temple of Java with Betty, where they lost half of their provisions, but Betty somehow put together a four-star dinner.

1 year

16. In the episode "Jerry," Simon comments that Betty makes the best soft-boiled egg, not runny, but perfectly jammy. (It is adorable how Simon expresses about Betty)

3 years

17. Betty and Simon write a book together. According to the internet, the average time to write and publish a book is 3 years.

1 month

18. Simon goes on another expedition and purchases the crown in Northern Scandinavia from "an old dockworker" as part of his studies to be an antiquarian of ancient artifacts. 19. Betty "disappears." (Although we know that she actually went to the future). 20. Simon records the tapes.

So, from what we can see here, it would be an approximate total of:

7 years and 4 months

From my perspective, this is a very good amount of time to get to know someone, especially considering that they were already living together. This is why Betty Grof was of legal age, and she knew what she was doing consciously. I believe there was a lack of communication towards Simon, and Simon should have asked because if we notice in the episode "Simon Petrikov," he tells Finn that if he is the one leading, making it clear that Simon could easily have gone along with whatever Betty wanted to do. As I mentioned, Betty felt that her career ended when she was transported through time by Simon, not before.

My favourite cartoon ships 2.0!

1. Broppy, Branch and Queen Poppy, Trolls

Such an adorable couple with highly entertaining interactions, anything from bickering to heartfelt encouragement.  Great yin and yang with very opposite yet very compatible personalities.  These two truly have changed each other’s lives for the better, bring out the best in each other, and would do anything for each other - you can’t have one without the other.  I’m not much into reading fanfics in general, but have read all kinds of Broppy ones!  Hopefully we’ll get another special and series!

2. Elixie, Eli Shane and Trixie Sting, Slugterra

Close friends who are always there for each other, loyal teammates who work really well together, who both pester and support one another.  Cute interactions that, to me, give the vibe that they could become more than friends in the future.  I don’t know, there’s just something about them that catches my attention, so many options for fanfics!

3. Embade (not sure if there’s a ship name for them yet), Wade Ripple and Ember Lumen, Elemental

About as opposite as two people can be!  I fell in love with these two immediately - their dynamic is highly entertaining, being fire and water they have unique interactions no other couple could have, their dance scene / first touch gives me butterflies, their first date is the cutest thing ever, and I like how it wasn’t ‘love at first sight’ - they got to know each other first, then fell in love, and they really improved each other’s lives.

4. The Love Square (Adrinette, Ladynoir, Marichat, Ladrien), Adrien Agreste / Chat Noir and Marinette Dupain-Cheng / Ladybug, Miraculous Ladybug

Four ships in one, so lots of options for different fun stories between the characters!  I’ve read a few neat fan-comics of them, their varying dynamics are always interesting.  This ship also moved down my favourites list, because I personally thought their ‘just friends’ status dragged on too long in canon.

5. Simonette, Simon Seville and Jeanette Miller, ALVINNN!!!

Close friends who have similar hobbies and compatible personalities, I love the episodes where they interact, especially helping each other on projects or just hanging out.  They would make an adorable couple, I’d love to see them on a sweet little date.  I’m not a huge fan of the CGI movies, but I watch Chipwrecked solely for their interactions.

6. Guep (no solid decent ship name for them so I’m going with this), Guy and Eep Crood, The Croods

I love the fact that she’s stronger and bigger than him, and far from a typical girly girl, it makes a unique and unconventional couple.  Also, they take care of each other, it’s never one-sided (the macho guy rescuing the dainty damsel, or the powerful woman rescuing the weak guy).

7. Eugunzel, Eugene Fitzherbert and Princess Rapunzel, Tangled

Tons of excellent interactions in the series, a healthy relationship and another couple who has given each other better lives.  She’s not the typical dependent princess, but not an overly powerful female either, just the perfect balance.  And like Guep, he rescues her, and she rescues him; both have strengths and weaknesses, making them a very realistic pair.

8. Hiccstrid, Hiccup Haddock and Astrid Hofferson, How To Train Your Dragon

Another couple where she’s the stronger one.  I like their teamwork and interactions - even though she’s much bolder than him, she respects his leadership and is loyal to him.  At the same time, he respects her and is open to her suggestions.

9. Jilaire, Jim Lake Jr. and Claire Nunez, Trollhunters

Their development from barely friends to a close couple was natural and realistic.  There is literally nothing these two wouldn’t do for each other (Jim risking his life and breaking the law to save Claire’s brother, Claire fully accepting Jim no matter what physical form he’s in)

10. Snowlin, Prince Merlin and Princess Snow White, Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarves

Excellent messages about true beauty.  The rare movie relationship where the main female does not represent ideal beauty standards, yet still ends up in a happy relationship.  These two learned to truly love each other for who they are on the inside, regardless of their appearance, and will surely stick by each other’s sides no matter what.

Not on my watch

A/N: okayyyyy so I don't nor have I ever played COD before so I don't know Ghost's background or story but I have read so many fan fictions that I thought I'd give it a try!

I watched the episode of Rick and Morty where Morty gets assaulted by a Jellybean, and when I seen the part where Rick takes notice of what happened (see pic below for reference) I couldn't help but think what if Rick was Ghost and Morty was the reader. So long story short, here is a lil story based off a somewhat similar concept!

Trigger warnings: swearing, violence, drug/alcohol use, mentions of a shitty abusive ex boyfriend, and somewhat assault (non-consenting waist/wrist grabbing).

"For the love of god woman! Will you hurry it up!" Soap yelled from the bottom of the stairs.

"I will be down in just a minute!" I responded which in return resulted in Soap groaning. Slipping on my heels and touching up my makeup, I made one last glance in the mirror before making my way downstairs. "Alright, I'm ready!" The boys turned around to face me, whistling as they laid their eyes on me.

"Well, hello sexy mama!" Soap yelled off, followed by a wolf whistle.

"Keep it in your pants, I'm not interested." Looking over, I seen Ghost looking me up and down, I gave him a smirk and a wink in response while he just stared back.

"Let's go already!" Soap sang, wrapping his arm around my shoulders as we all made our way to the door.

Once we made it to the club, the boys and I headed for a booth in the far back.

"Alright, first round is on (Y/N)!" Soap announced taking a seat, pushing further into the booth so I could take a seat, I spoke up.

"Oh how sweet of you to offer," I began sarcastically. "What does everyone want?" I questioned looking between them.

"I'll take a jack and coke." Soap began, scoping out the crowd. "But first, move. I see some pretty ladies that could use my company." Nearly pushing me out of the boot, I stood up and let him out.

"Make that two." Ghost added, staring at me. I nodded with a smile before making my way to the bar.

"Hey, can I get three jack and cokes!" I yelled over the loud music to the bartender. I stood and waited at the bar for my drinks when I felt someone press up behind me.

"Funny seeing you, here." I immediately felt my heart stop and a cold shiver run down my spine when I heard his voice. Forgetting my drinks, I attempted to make my way from the bar until I felt a tight grip on my waist. "Not so fast, where do you think you're going?" He questioned as the bartender returned with my drinks. I looked at the bartender with a small smile before reaching into my purse to grab some cash to pay.

"Let go of me." I uttered out through gritted teeth, trying to not cause a scene. Leaning down, he pushed my hair off my shoulder and lowered his lips to my ear.

"Oh no, baby girl. I didn't that once before and I lost you. I won't be doing it again." I frantically looked around, to see if I could catch someone's attention, to show I needed help but in a packed club, I learned I was utterly alone.

"Please, you don't have to do this. Just let me go and we'll forget it ever happened." I felt his grip tighten more, there would be bruises left as a reminder of him.

"Forget what? How you ran away? Off to work on some military base and whore yourself out to anybody who would give you a second glance." I felt tears forming in my eyes,

"It's not like that, I left because I had too. I left for work." I stated, continuing to scope the crowd for a glimpse of Soap or someone that could help.

"I saw those two guys you walked in with, did you whore yourself out to them? Huh?" Before I could respond, the bartender returned with my drinks. Reaching down into my purse, I pulled out some cash and paid the tab. "Buying drinks for them? What a good little whore you are." Tears streamed down my face.

"Please, just leave me alone. I won't say anything, just let me go." This time he chuckled while beginning to stand up.

"Not a chance, now that I got a hold of you." He pulled me into him, letting of my waist to take ahold of my wrist, "I'm never letting you go." As soon as he let go of my waist, I took a hold of one of the jack and cokes and threw it into his face, I took this as my chance to make a run for it. I spotted Ghost alone at a far booth in the corner and I made it my mission to reach him. Sprinting through the crowd, tears streamed down my face as I reach him.

"(Y/N), where wer-. What's wrong? What happened?" His voice was full of concern as I took a hold of his arm and held on.

"Please, take me home. Please, Simon, please." I begged, my voice cracking more and more with each word until I was full on sobbing into his chest. I felt him wrap an arm around my waist and pull me in closer, he didn't speak. It wasn't until I heard footsteps approaching and the sound of Soap's voice filling my ears and breaking the silence.

"What happened? Is she alright?" But he didn't respond, instead he stood up and passed me over to Soap.

"Take her home, now." Simon spoke with a firm tone.

"Okay, but where are you going?" I glanced up from Soap's arms to see Ghost staring back at me.

"To take care of some business. Now, get her home. That's an order." And with that Ghost turned and walked away, disappearing into the crowd. I turned back around, and follow Soap out of the club and into a cab.

Later that night, Soap passed out in his room and I stayed on the couch waiting of Ghost to return. It was around two am when the sound of the door handle startled me out of my thoughts.

"Simon?" I looked up to see his tall muscular frame, pushing the door closed.

"(Y/N), what are you still doing up?" He questioned, making his way to the couch and taking a seat. The skull masked covered half of his face but the dim light from the TV illuminated his blue eyes. Trailing my eyes further down his frame, I took notice of his busted and bleeding knuckles.

"Oh my god, what happened to you?" I questioned, ignoring his question and standing up to kneel in front of him to get a better look at his hands.

"Nothing, you need to worry about." He said reaching down to take ahold of my waist to help me up. I winced at the pressure from his hands, to which he took note of. "What's wrong?" He questioned, once I stood up.

"Nothing, now tell me what happened." I stated, reaching for his hands but before I could, he reached up and lifted up my shirt revealing the bruises left behind by (Y/E/N).

"Did he do this to you?" I looked away from him, pushing my shirt down.

"It's okay, I need to worry about you." Ghost stood up and took a hold of my face between his hands.

"(Y/N)." I let out a sigh.

"Yes." I looked up to see his bright blue eyes staring back at me.

"I promise, he will never lay a hand on you again." Without questioning him further and putting two and two together, I nodded in response. Staring back at Ghost, I watched his eyes glance at my lips before back at me.

Taking the initiative I leaned in.

And it's also the closest one that resembles the gun used in the shooting scene. So not 100% guarantee that its the correct one. But it's as close as I could get. (moving on)

The gun uses 9mm ammunition. Dangerous yes but there have been reported cases of people surviving being shot with a 9mm.

OK so I did some digging on possible ways that Soap could have survived the gun shot wound to his head and one of the things I found was the Valkyrie program. Now the Valkyrie program was created to allow for on site (on the battlefield) blood transfusions, this comes in a kit that allows for collection of blood. And then that blood can be used for a blood transfusion to the injured soldier/person.

I have added the link if anyone is interested in reading about it in more detail please be warned that it does show explicit images containing blood and needles.

Now there are various other programs that allow for a soldier to receive blood quickly to avoid severe blood loss or even death. I touched on these very lightly but if you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Now the next one is very simple Price is a smart man and I really doubt he would have gone in blind. So the moment the dust settled the medics where there stabilizing Soap and getting him out of there to receive the right medical attention he needs.

The list of physical and mental problems is going to be a long one but he would have survived.

Now onto the more crazy theories. (Aka a fanfic I will be writing because I haven't done angst in a while)

In Kingsman they brought back one of the agents using alpha gel. "Alpha-Gel is a substance used by Statesman that can protect the brain from a headshot wound. After the Alpha-Gel is applied, the agent is brought back to the laboratory, where nanites are used to repair tissue damage in the brain."

What if they used something like alpha gel to help Johnny? But just like the alpha gel it causes severe amnesia. Soap forgets everything and everyone from 141. He spends months in recovery. Simon is there every day trying to get Johnny to remember the team (him) but nothing is working.

After being declared KIA.The CIA got involved with a revival project and the first subject that showed promise was former Sergeant John Soap Mactavish.

Grey's Anatomy: Blood, Sweat and Tears (20x08)

Full disclosure, I watched this episode with constant interruptions so my brain is even more scattered than usual as I try and remember everything that happened.

Cons:

Simone and Lucas just really isn't doing a lot for me. I wanted to be moved by Simone's speech at the end: "I'm a better Doctor because of you." I think the two of them have just caused each other too much pain, and not like... juicy, interesting, dramatic pain, just... two people acting really poorly, kind of boring and yet somehow simultaneously stressful to watch. So they hook up, and then the next day at the test, Lucas is avoiding Simone's eyes... come on. How many more rounds of pointless hesitation are we going to be on with these two?

Pros:

This Amelia and Monica thing is pretty fun. Nothing much has actually happened so far, but I'm excited for it to start happening. "I've seen your hands" is such a delightfully bonkers thing to say to a professional colleague, I don't think Amelia was at all off base with the vibe she was picking up. At least we get the (scarcely needed) confirmation that Monica is queer, as she drops the news that she's going through a messy divorce with her wife. I like what they're doing with Monica's character, she has a sort of no-nonsense attitude but she's so wonderful and affirming with her patients. I think it's that thing where if you talk to kids like they're human beings capable of knowing their own minds, they'll really respond to that. And the story about the young trans girl was really moving. When she revealed she was anxious about surgery because of people seeing her naked body, I teared up a little!

Dorian... holy shit, that was stressful as fuck, I thought they were going to kill him! This guy cannot get a break. As much as Lucas has annoyed me with his attitude about all of this, I do like the concept of it, the way Lucas has externalized his stress and bad feelings onto his patient, and actually has a pretty unique insight into how bad his time in the hospital has been accordingly. I hope Dorian doesn't take this setback too hard. I want to see this guy get to leave the hospital by the end of the season, please!

I actually liked Owen and Teddy's story in this episode if you keep it isolated: I have the feeling that it's going to cause more stressors between them based on the promo we saw for next week, and that already fills me with a sense of ennui. But for what this was all on its own? Yeah, I liked it. The two of them working together in the field to save lives, their day off interrupted by work but the two of them working well and not getting too fed up with the situation, this was all good stuff. I liked Owen's epiphany that they should invest in teaching people how to stop a bleed the same way they teach people to do CPR, and how this might save so many more lives. The daughter of the man who was injured had a really insightful point when she said that what Owen told her to do wasn't difficult, it was just that she didn't know what it was she should do, until someone told her.

The actress who plays Jules is lowkey one of the best performers this show has ever had. I think her character tends to be sort of muted compared to some of the bigger personalities around her, but when she gets her little moments, they really are affecting. It was so sweet for Yasuda to give up scrubbing in for a surgery in order to help Jules study. The moment when Jules is crying about how she just freezes up in front of the test and how she doesn't want to get fired and lose her job... that was so touching! And the two of them falling asleep together was sweet. I'm not saying I ship it, but honestly let's just go ahead and make this new MAGYK gang a polycule, shall we? I wouldn't be mad.

I heard the news recently that Schmitt will be leaving the show sometime in the next season, and that bums me out in a major way. I guess we'll have to hold on to every moment of him we do have left... and I liked the Jo and Levi moments in this episode, where Levi is confused and annoyed by Jo's apparent lack of investment, but when Jo reveals her anxiety about her patients, Levi immediately switches modes and reassures her that she's doing a great job!

That's all for this week. I'm definitely missing some little details given the scatter-shot way I approached this episode, but I thought there was a lot of promise here.

Are there Friday memes like “It’s Wednesday my dudes” and “Out of Touch Thursday”? But anyway, it is another Friday and I did some fic reading. Yeehaw!

If you follow my personal blog, you see that I have finally watched Ted Lasso. I had been thinking about it for a while and then I saw that they did an episode at Het Homomonument in Amsterdam and also @quizasvivamos has started publishing Game of Two Halves, a Klaine-i-fied take on Ted Lasso. It’s a WIP and I can’t wait for more. No rush, Beth, but *rubs hand* I’ll be waiting.

@wetheformidables also published the last chapter of half the time, a Snowbaz Meet-Again-Cute. It was so good and I loved how Max wrote Simon and Baz’s POVs. And yes, Simon, it could’ve been worse. You could’ve seen him on the bus.

@caramelcoffeeaddict has also been teasing Seven Minutes To Heaven in their SSS/WW posts and it is finished and I read it! I am a sucker for Klaine being oblivious.

I am still reading the AU Please! fics. So many challenges to catch up on. I don’t think I ever read all the Klaine Advent and Carry On Countdown ones I wanted to read. So many fic, so little time. But I did read nobody knows the trouble i’ve seen (glory, hallelujah) by queenofthestarrrs which was not what I expected but it is a beautiful tragedy. Jack dies and Bitty can see his ghost. Johnson especially pointed out the tragedy by spelling out the What If that underlines this all.

I also read hold me like you’ll never let me go by @hullomoon​. It was so sweet and of course both Jack and Holster would wear an orange puffer coat.

Lastly, I finally read Farewell, Aquarius by @tea-brigade​, which is a Snowbaz Apollo 13 AU. I.... needed to lie down. Well, actually, I cried about it in the shower instead. I am woefully ignorant of the space race stuff. I, uh, genuinely didn’t know this Apollo 13 thing was a real thing. Yes, oops? Maybe this was a good thing, cause this story was entirely new for me and I was hooked.

In non-fic news, I have started A Marvellous Light by Freya Maske. I am only 80 pages in and it is, in my opinion, a slow start, but I do like it so far.

Ooh. This is a tough question, because there are so many scenes that touched me in s2. As I've said before, Wille really stole my heart in this series, both with regards to his relationship with Simon and his struggle to find a way to be the Crown Prince on his own terms. All of the scenes where he experienced loneliness and anxiety really hit me hard. They were probably the most impactful scenes for me in the first three episodes -- jumping on the desk!, screaming into the pillow!, sitting alone in the study room looking at pictures of Simon, walking alone to the lake only to be found (thankfully) by Felice, trying to use his breathing exercises to calm himself down. I think the first half of the season struggled to find its footing a little bit, but these scenes were highlights for me for sure.

The latter three episodes had many of my favorite moments in s2, so here are a few!

A combo scene that really had me feeling ALL THE THINGS was at the ball, when Wille acknowledged that Simon wasn't in love with him anymore. I could feel every second of Simon's agony after Wille walked away, as he tried to keep his composure in front of Marcus. And of course that leads directly to him following Wille out and pleading with him to understand that Simon is just trying to move on. Omar was exceptional in these scenes. I felt his despair deep in my bones. Which made the kiss, and his sweet smile in between, all the better.

Wille holding August at gunpoint is also a favorite, and beautifully acted by everyone, especially Edvin. I truly felt like Wille was at a breaking point. All season we watched him take steps forward, and then steps back, to get to this point in his story. But here, he was finally coming full circle and doing everything right for himself and for his relationship with Simon, and August still managed to get the upper hand. The desperation of the moment was sky-high, and then shot even higher when Sara confessed to Simon. The utter heartbreak of Simon walking away from the group, then walking away from Wille! I'm not over it. And I also want to give a nod to Felice here. I have mixed feelings about her character arc in s2, but her disgust upon finding out what Sara did was very powerful.

My favorite scene of the entire series is in the hallway before Wille's speech. Two weeks later, I'm still absolutely fixated on the way that Wille doesn't step back one inch when Jan Olaf tells him it's time to go. The careful touches, the look of wonder on Wille's face when Simon says he wants to be with him, even if it has to be a secret. And then that Simon loves him. The exhale when he hugs Simon, finally, finally!, having Simon back in his arms, this time for good, with no secrets between them. I simply will never be over it.

That these are the first scenes of season 2 felt so insane to me??? And I had so many conflicting feelings during them!

Because my very first thought was "WOW OKAY, they're back together" and while I was heartbroken because they weren't together by the end of season 1, I understood completely why Simon had done it. And I was proud of him for setting his boundaries. I obviously felt terrible for Wille but I agreed with Simon that he needed to figured out his own stuff. (It hurt like an open wound for the couple of hours until I watched season 2 though, I don't know how you guys dealt with it for MONTHS)

So yeah, I thought they were back together and felt kinda happy, kinda confused because I wanted to know why Simon had taken Wille back if they probably were still stuck in the same situation.

BUT WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS ACTUALLY A DREAM OF WILLE?? FUUUUUUUUUU I wept. And then I had to start the episode again because I couldn't see through my tears the first time. Because it's not just a dream of them being together, it's so sweet and tender and it's full of SO MUCH LOVE. Wille is so in love with Simon he's dreaming of his SCENT. And his oh so tender touch and OMG it felt like they were teasing us like "look how good, how loving, how PRECIOUS they are when they're together. Can you feel their love??" AND OF COURSE I DID! It's one of the reasons why the show caugh me the way it did. I felt so sad for Wille, because when the lightning changed, it was as if warm, the warm feeling of Simon's love which is probably the only real love he has felt in his life (and that's so sad all on its own!), was abandoning him and UGGGGHHH precious baby was so sad 😭😭

And it felt insane because YESSSSS, that's everything I wanted but they were telling me I couldn't have it, not yet, but it was there and it was as wonderful as before. But I had to WAIt. And thankfully the wait was so SO worth it, like UGGGGHHH that last scene? Yes, I would've been okay with that being the last scene of the series. I'm eternally grateful it isn't though! (Cause I dislike open endings lol)

I had to comment on the post because this show it's a masterpiece and I feel really lucky I found it even if I'm super late to the party, it feels like a precious gift I'm going to keep with me for the rest of my life. Exactly as Simon's song says 😭

i loved how fast and desperate their sex scene was this season compared to how soft and sweet their first time was, like they can't spend another second not touching each other! it's been too long!

Oh yeah, it was absolutely PERFECT for where they were at. They’d been desperate to touch each other for so long and after that kiss in episode 4, you could feel how worked up they were for each other. The way Simon inhaled that sweater and buried his face in it was so sexually charged and erotic. It’s also very important to remember neither of them had sex in months; Simon tried with Marcus and got shut down and Wille also never got that far with Felice.

Their dynamic was different this season and a more passionate, lustful sex scene was exactly what the doctor ordered. I’m also happy to see them allowed to just be horny teenage boys. There’s this uncomfortable purity culture that exists around MLM relationships in media where anything other than soft intimacy between two boys gets criticized when in reality sex exists in many different forms and shouldn’t need to be soft in order to be considered palatable for the audience. I’ve seen it a lot in the YR fandom and it bothers me. Wille and Simon being in love doesn’t mean they also aren’t capable of being lustful, and wanting to have sex that isn’t soft is not something that should be shamed or looked down up. They’re sexually attracted to each other as much as they are in romantically. Those feelings co-exist and can be expressed in many different ways.

Anyway that scene absolutely slapped. 10/10 perfection. The fade to black after the curtains closed? Poetry.

•Had a girlfriend when he was nine. In 1x5, with a conversation between him and Sally, she asks him if he’s ever had a girlfriend. Simon replies that he did and that they met on holiday when he was nine.

Sally: Have you ever had a girlfriend? 

He nods in response 

Sally: Who was she?

Simon: I met her on holiday. 

Sally: Really?... Did you ever... -She smiles- Did you ever have sex?

•Owns Battle Royale Manga Series. In a tweet, he says he owns the entire series, which is 15 volumes. The series itself is a gory psychological science fiction thriller, which falls under the categories of media he is known to consume. It makes sense that watching/reading a ton of gore could be why Simon seemed desensitized to the whole death, bodies, and murder during the first few episodes. But there could also be many different reasons why he reacted that way. So it’s confirmed that he reads manga... but I wonder if he’s ever watched anime too. (≖_≖ ) If he does, Nathan definitely makes jokes about him watching hentai lmao.

•Arson/Arrest. We discover why Simon’s in community service through his first real interaction with Nathan in 1x1. 

Of course, Nathan is riling him up, trying to get a reaction out of him. (Which he does.)

Nathan: What about you, weird kid? Don’t take this the wrong way, but you look like a panty sniffer. 

Simon: I’m not a panty sniffer. I’m not a pervert.  

Nathan begins to mime, pleasuring himself, groaning and leering toward Simon.  

Simon: I tried to burn someone’s house down! 

This is all the information the audience is given within the episode about Simon’s crime. We learn the details of Kelly’s, Curtis’s and Alisha’s arrests and that Nathan “Got done for eating some Pick’N’Mix.” in 1x1.

In 1x4, when Curtis travels back in time to the night of his arrest, it’s revealed how Curtis and Nathan got arrested. However, in Simon’s case, we only see the prelude to his crime.

His ex-friend Matt sent a text asking him to come to some club. So, thinking that Matt would apologize for the stuff he put Simon through in school, he goes to the club. He buys two beers and approaches Matt and his friends, only to find out Matt texted the wrong Simon. The interaction humiliated him.

Simon: Hi. 

Matt: Simon…? 

Simon: I bought you a beer. 

Matt doesn’t take the beer.

Simon: I got your text. 

Matt: What text?

Simon: You sent me a text telling me to meet you here. 

Matt: I was texting my mates. I meant a different Simon.

Simon sets the beers down and flees the situation.

In the show, the scene is played differently from the scripts. Matt is much crueller and annoyed with Simon versus in the scripts where he feels more uncomfortable and guilty. There is also a cut line from one of Matt’s mates calling Simon a freak. →Scripts←

A few scenes later, he is shown SA’ing an unconscious Kelly. (He is unaware that the girl is Kelly due to her face being covered.) He peaks up her skirt and goes to touch her but stops and flees after Kelly makes a noise.  In the script, it’s shown that Simon feels incredibly guilty afterwards. It’s also mentioned again that he feels very guilty about what he did to Kelly in 1x5, but it isn’t translated well into the actual episode.

He’s shown multiple times in the first season committing acts of voyeurism, especially after being treated poorly by other men. For example, in 1x2, when Nathan rejects Simon for the second time, he turns invisible and creeps on the girls in the locker room.

(This has a lot to do with Simon initially being a villain. I’ll have points about VillianSimon and Voyeurism later in this post thread. I’ll be going into more detail then.) 

We finally discover what happened through his dialogue with Sally in 1x5. The two are at a drink bar. Simon notices Matt entering. Matt makes eye contact with him, and Sally asks who he is. Simon then explains what happened the night of his arrest.

Sally: Who’s that?

Simon: I went to school with him.

Sally: Is it a friend?

Simon: He lives next door to me. He stopped speaking to me when we started secondary school. 

Sally: Did he give you a hard time?

Simon nods

Simon: Every morning when I woke up, I felt sick just thinking about it. I told my parents and the teachers. They knew it was happening. No one did anything. 

Sally: Was it his house you tried to burn down?

Simon nods, looking ashamed

Simon: A few months ago. He sent me a text, inviting me to this club. I thought he wanted to apologize. I get to the club. I walk up to him and his mates. He texted me by mistake. It was so humiliating.  

Sally: Simon…

Simon: I was so angry I… I got drunk. I started thinking about everything he did to me at school. I lost it. I went round to his house. I made sure his family were out. I soaked some tissues in lighter fluid. I lit them and dropped them through the letterbox… There was a cat. 

Sally: A cat? 

Simon: Inside the house. I thought, the cat didn’t bully me at school. He hasn’t done anything. The carpet was just starting to catch light. The cat was freaking out. 

Sally: What did you do?

Simon: I put the fire out. 

Sally: How?

Simon: I pissed through the letterbox… This is when his mum comes home. She starts screaming. You know what’s it like once you start; it’s hard to stop. 

Sally is trying to hold back her laughter

Simon: It’s not funny.

Sally: Sorry… Sorry

More information is also given in one of the extra video content, ‘Girl Talk’, uploaded to Simon’s YT channel. The video shows Simon breaking into the probation worker's office to look at his file. In addition, he shows his psychological assessment. It says his offence is arson, not attempted as many fans believe. His assessment reads: 

"Simon appears withdrawn. He spends the majority of his time alone and appears alienated. He is not good in social situations, preferring to be on his own. he is, however a highly intelligent young man. He appears methodical and interested in the way things work.

I would recommend further assessments in this particular case."

There is also a photograph of the damage the fire must have done to the house.

In 2x1, we learn about Lucy. A girl that Simon knew when he was in the psych ward. In dialogue, it’s revealed that he was sent to the unit after being arrested for assessment. 

Curtis: So what the story with you and this girl?

Simon: After I tried to burn that boy's house down. They sent me to a psychiatric unit for assessment.  

Nathan: Really? Can’t Imagine why.  

Simon: Lucy was a patient in the unit. I think she’s obsessed with me.

It’s implied that he was sent to the ward right after being questioned by the police. (This is what realistically would happen anyways.) 

He was probably nursing a hangover his first night/day there, which sounds awful. 

Simon would have been 18 during his arrest and time in the unit. In his conversation with Sally, he refers to his arrest as a few months ago. Their community service started on November 12, 2009. (The same date as when the first episode aired.) This is confirmed on Simon’s Twitter. Episode five’s events occur during the second week of December, making it clear he was presumably arrested around September. It’s unclear how long his stay at the unit was, but most likely, it was around a few days to a week. Two weeks maximum. (Honestly, doing this little analysis/deep dive on information about Simon makes me realize how traumatized he is... I haven’t even gone on about his family/home life yet.)

Wow this is actually a really hard ask. Thank you my friend @books-books-smolderinglooks 💜💜💜 YOU asked for the novel so here it is, finally!

Ok so I think that I will have to try to just go by episode. I’m just going to go by memory so I may forget one. Also these are my favorites - if I was doing a “best” scenes post, some of them might be different. Or I would add some more. 

I think the overall theme of this is going to be: scenes that make me FEEL.

Episode 1:

-Wilhelm and Erik running from the photographers; Wilhelm hanging onto Erik begging him not to leave: These are so beautiful and show the playful, supportive nature of an elder and younger sibling. They remind me of my younger sister and me. Just a beautiful way to set up the deep loss that Wilhelm will suffer. They flow so realistically and organically. With two small scenes, I immediately know that they love each other.

-Simon’s statement “we all know who the biggest welfare recipients are”. Simon, YES. Go fucking off. I agree with everything Simon says in this scene and his bold statement directly to the prince is foundational to his character. He is a badass who isn’t afraid to stick up for what he believes in. I was immediately endeared to him after this scene.

-Wilhelm confidently looking Simon up and down at the initiation party. Like - drunk Wilhelm has a confidence about him. Or perhaps his royal mask was a bit fuzzy because of the alcohol. Either way. Boy. That look said a fucking lot.

-The absolute chemistry when Wilhelm grabs Simon’s face. That sweet sweet anticipation.  The teasing. Wow.

Episode 2:

-Ayub teasing Simon about bringing the prince to Rosh’s soccer game. Listen I fucking LOVE this moment. I haven’t seen too many people post it on these type of posts. It is so perfect - his friend is just playfully teasing and it is so real. But they pull it together as Wilhelm returns - because Ayub has his boy’s back. Of course he does. And Simon is so soft - his face looks just a bit shy and embarrassed. God I love this scene. 

-Hand holding. Ya’ll - I remember SO clearly that anticipation. The deep aching wanting of someone to just fucking hold my hand. It was a delicious anticipation. This scene encapsulates that longing with absolute perfection. And it sets up one of the best first kisses I’ve ever seen so perfecting.

-First kiss - honestly it is the time and care taken with the scene that makes it best. The dorky PJ pants, the anxiety. Wilhelm’s flat non response as he battles within himself. Simon’s fucking badass courage - how he gathers it all up and kisses the fucking prince. Go little rockstar.

Episode 3

-The look Wilhelm gives Simon in the doorway of the practice room. No explanation really needed fam. That’s a boy in love.

-The talk in the gym: Willhem’s pleading stare, Simon’s sort of cluelessness then the smile he gives Wilhelm when he figures out what is going on. 

-I really love all the intense feelings of anticipation of this episode. Then, we are hit with utter devastation.

Episode 4:

-The opening scene at the funeral. So few words are spoken and so much feeling is conveyed. We see Wilhelm’s mother hold his hand. I believe this is her leaning on him, not her giving him support. He has no support and we see this as he walks down the aisle, holding in his tears. This is the first moment we see how alone he is. How alone he feels. And it will get worse. This scene is breathtaking.

-Wilhelm having dinner with his parents after the funeral: I love this scene because it adds so much exposition without trying hard. The relationship between Wilhelm and Kristina becomes crystal clear. He is so honest and clear. Kristina’s grief and shock are indicative of how completely out of touch she is with her youngest son’s life and, really, his well-being. The distance in this scene shows us what is to come for the two of them. Brilliant. 

-Wilhelm having a breakdown in his room. This scene, as he deletes Simon’s number, and the weight of who he is comes crashing down on him for the first time. All of the loss he suffers in order to be that “crown prince my family will be proud of”. Then, he tries to escape to simply breathe and he can’t even do that. It is so real and so honest.

-The football field. Of course, I love the perfect line. “I like you and that’s not fake”. But for me, this scene is about the layers. We have tremendous grief - desperation and Wille finally reaching for someone who cares; allowing him to be seen. Simon, arriving to he field absolutely terrified about the state he will find Wilhelm in. The layers of his own trauma, his father living with addiction, us having seen him interact with his father. Simon is clearly annoyed with Wilhelm, on a certain level, and also smitten. It’s like he is trying not to let Wille in, but he can’t help himself. The truth coming out of Wilhelm’s lips is too much. Honestly, this scene is heartbreaking. I’m glad the truth came out, of course, but I’m so sad for the both of them really, that it came to this. And yet, I feel hopeful. The hope and possibility I feel SO DAMN MUCH in this seen. And that, my friends, is the beauty of it.

-Sara and Felice making up in the bus stop. I love this because it feels like it is where their friendship really solidifies into a genuine care for one another. In the beginning, I think Felice was sort of motivated by Sara’s difference. Almost like she was a project? All with good intention but still sort of gross? I think her care for Sara evolves and becomes a really beautiful friendship. I know folks won’t agree with me and that’s ok, but this scene is really it for me. These two are friends and I am not looking forward to this blowing up in Season 2.

-Ok ya’ll - the beautiful end of episode 4 (besides August. FUCK YOU August) is a perfect scene in it’s entirety.  But I will choose my favorite moment. The moment Simon asks Wilhelm “do you remember what you said last night”. Wilhelm sits up, his face turns beet red. The groan and falling to Simon’s chest? That’s the moment for me. The intimacy, the honesty breaking through. And Simon’s softening. It’s ok. I like you too. Soft brushing of hair? It is so damn beautiful and leads to one of the most emotionally tender and precious intimate scenes I have ever seen. That moment they decide to trust and allow themselves to be seen? It’s stunning.

Episode 5: 

Well shit. I mean, this episode is so perfect.

-Opening scene - Wille tracing his fingers over Simon, the gorgeous intimacy of the bad breath teasing, the kiss, the laughter, the utter joy. We finally get to see these two relaxed, in trust, and maybe even in love. Utterly smitten, to say the least. This scene is my favorite because of the beauty and the feelings. Any time I get to sit with queer joy, I am joyful. I can’t really think of many scenes that make me feel the way I feel when this scene plays (A few involve David and Patrick though).

-The girls sleepover - this just reminds me of my youth. It feels so real and is so connected and beautiful. My entire life I have spent with close intimate friendships with other women and seeing the feel of this portrayed on screen is beautiful. There isn’t any cattiness - just friendship and connection. I love it and this scene is sort of the pinnacle of that in the series - so far anyway.

-The fish scene - QUEER JOY. beautiful intimacy. Anticipation. Breathlessness. This scene is perfect. A detail I love is Simon turning on the video games and Wille being confused/startled. This shows their class differences effortlessly. Wille didn’t even think about being overheard - that isn’t something he has had to do. Simon, on the other hand, absolutely has had to worry about this or be concerned about privacy (like most of us!). The playfulness of this part of the scene is brilliant. Also - I totally did this when I was their age - usually with movies though. It just feels so real.

-The hug at Lucia. Edvin’s acting in this scene blows me away. I also get a vibe that Simon is conflicted here. He cares so deeply for Wille but everything that went down clearly doesn’t sit well with him. It’s a mess. And yet, within this uncertainty, they connect. Simon soft and caring, Wilhelm desperate for love. It is a heartbreaking scene and the way they cling to each other makes me feel so many things.

-Micke coming to Lucia - One thing I love about this show is how they show the humanity behind addiction. This doesn’t happen very often. Micke is a complicated character - on the one hand we see that he has deep care and affection for his kids, on the other hand we also see he is quite incapable of following through or showing this with any level of reliability. He doesn’t remember Simon is gay, he can’t respect boundaries. He is so deeply flawed and sick. He wants to be better and in a truly self centered addict way, takes Simon’s connection maybe as a sign that he is better? Or at least an invitation to be involved which id absolutely was not. Simon is mortified at being caught in a lie, Sara is betrayed, and Linda appears so patient. She supports her children in setting the boundaries they need and doesn’t speak for them. Another Linda win in my book.

Episode 6:

Wow this episode is actually full of scenes that I love - mostly because they are so devastatingly heartbreaking. They are so damn good.

- Wilhelm and Simon in the locker room - again, the intimacy. They are drawn together like magnets with a promise to stay connected through it all. The hope of courage. perfect.

-Wilhelm and Simon in Wille’s room before he leaves to go back to the castle. When Simon allows his smile to shine through, when Wilhelm tells him that he wants to be with him? Wow. That face is everything. He believes in this boy - he hopes. 

-Wilhelm’s car ride with his mother. God I really fucking hate Kristina. But all of her scenes in this episode are so damn good. This scene is so heartbreaking. She cares absolutely nothing of her son’s feelings which is becoming very clear. Nothing matters but the crown. “An unfortunate romance”. This scene is vital to set the state for the betrayal to come and it also helps us understand why Wilhelm lies in the end.

-Wilhelm sitting alone in the castle. He’s on his own. No one is there to support him. He is all alone.

-Linda offering Simon juice, soda, cookies when he is lying on the couch devastated. The juxtaposition of Simon’s experience of love and support - quite literally surrounded by love - to Wilhelm’s loneliness is so stark. Again, devastatingly beautiful.

-The break up - God I love this scene. Simon, my dear one, you are so brave. I am so proud of you for standing up for yourself. For not bending to something that I know you desperately want, but would require you to sacrifice so much. He understands and respects Wilhelm’s position and gently calls him out on his behavior, “you want everything to be on your terms”. Simon doesn’t really want to let go but he chooses himself here and it is beautiful. Edvin, again, pulls out some of the most incredible acting for such a young star. I want to just hold him while he cries. Again - more alone than he was before.

-Wilhelm storming the gym to confront August. WOW. I believe that Wilhelm hits August in the only place he absolutely knows will hurt. “You are no longer my family”. Fucking BURN. I hope we see more consequences for him moving forward. But I really love this scene.

-Wilhelm calling his mom to tell her it was August. God this scene is awful. But it is so necessary. Then him standing there, all alone. I think it is so powerful that he hangs up as she is saying “the only thing to give Erik’s death meaning”. Her delusion of protecting Wilhelm when she is only betraying him. I would like to formally file my petition to adopt Wilhelm. He needs a good mom. 

-The End - This hug, the declaration of love, Simon’s self protected response, and Revolution playing in the background? Thank God Lisa gave us this scene or I might have been in even worse emotional trouble at the end of this show. I am so proud of Wilhelm for his courage here. To be himself. To let himself be seen with Simon, even in a fairly innocent way. Simon’s shaky hands before he holds Wilhelm. Then, of course, the breaking of the 4th wall and what feels like an absolute promise from Wilhelm. A promise to revolt. So much hope in that song, and that look. A call back to the first time Wilhelm was truly honest about his feelings, on the football field. He wants his love to be a revolution.

And, I really hope we get to see that revolution in Season 2. <3
